- 0:56Speaker 1: to you live from a pre recorded studio.
- 1:00Speaker 3: He recorded what studio? Where in my Where in my house?
- 1:05Speaker 3: And we're in your house and there's your underwear hanging
- 1:09Speaker 3: from the wall.
- 1:10Speaker 1: That's not underwear. Yeah, are you talking about that?
- 1:14Speaker 3: No, I'll try to make you I'll try to make
- 1:18Speaker 3: you worry. I'll try I'm not worry dude.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Dude, you saw me messing around before I even like
- 1:24Speaker 1: sat down. I'm over here in my room, all right,
- 1:26Speaker 1: Like I'm over here trying to turn my computer a
- 1:28Speaker 1: bit so you can see that poster right here. Yeah, beautiful,
- 1:33Speaker 1: because beautiful. But then you can see my bed right here.
- 1:35Speaker 1: So I'm just like you don't. You don't need to
- 1:39Speaker 1: see that. You don't see that. I'll just just look
- 1:43Speaker 1: just look up here, look in this general area, not
- 1:45Speaker 1: not over here, general direction.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Oh my god, is that I'm not gonna is that?
- 1:51Speaker 1: What?
- 1:52Speaker 2: Nothing? Nothing? Absolutely nothing?
- 1:54Speaker 1: M Yeah, that's what I thought. Anyway, We're glad you
- 1:58Speaker 1: guys could join us, and of course i'm your host
- 2:02Speaker 1: with maybe not the most, but I could do my best.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Who said that where the night is pooky? Come on?
- 2:12Speaker 3: Oh, you're not gonna do You're not gonna put down
- 2:18Speaker 3: yourself in front of me, not today, not ever?
- 2:23Speaker 1: Who said I was putting myself down? And he gave
- 2:26Speaker 1: you permission to call me pooky?
- 2:28Speaker 2: I did I give myself permission to call you pooky? Pooky?
- 2:30Speaker 2: The fuck?
- 2:32Speaker 1: Yeah? Anyway, this will be the last episode of book Watchers.
- 2:34Speaker 2: There is a lie. That is a damn fucking lie.
- 2:37Speaker 3: We spent too much time on this ship for you
- 2:39Speaker 3: just to be like I quit because guess what.
- 2:41Speaker 1: I just well, I just might if you keep calling me.
- 2:44Speaker 2: Pooky pooh key and what and what and what.
- 2:54Speaker 1: And what? Hi?
- 2:57Speaker 3: I'm Devin the ginger with no soul that I'm always
- 3:00Speaker 3: afraid I have. If I step on holy ground'm going
- 3:02Speaker 3: to burst in the flames.
- 3:04Speaker 1: And see who's being who's being pessimistic?
- 3:07Speaker 3: Now, I'm sorry, I can't step on holy ground. If
- 3:11Speaker 3: I step into a church, I'm gonna burst in the flames.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Which is surprising because I'm pretty sure James at one
- 3:16Speaker 1: point consecrated the ground around this house.
- 3:18Speaker 2: But well, apparently he didn't do a very good job.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Yeah, he may have used the wrong kind of oil
- 3:22Speaker 1: instead of using holy, instead of using a whole like
- 3:25Speaker 1: an nooise at oil, he probably used like, I don't know,
- 3:27Speaker 1: some sort of like something gay.
- 3:29Speaker 4: No no, no, no, no, it's something he did something unholy.
- 3:34Speaker 4: Uh God, And now every now and then it summons
- 3:40Speaker 4: up maggots from the ground.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Who knows?
- 3:43Speaker 2: That makes so much sense?
- 3:45Speaker 3: Anyway, if you look at the description below, you'll see
- 3:48Speaker 3: a linky link that will take you to a page
- 3:52Speaker 3: that will have all the other podcasts in the AVLA
- 3:56Speaker 3: Productions family of podcasts in link tree, as well as
- 4:00Speaker 3: the YouTube channel and all that fun stuff. So please
- 4:03Speaker 3: go subscribe some of the other episodes of book Watchers
- 4:07Speaker 3: and some of the other podcasts. Can I help you.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Bothering my cat? M hm?
- 4:26Speaker 3: Anyway, script down below linking podcasts, other podcasts YouTube.
- 4:33Speaker 2: Do you think have fun?
- 4:35Speaker 1: Take a little notification bill for us?
- 4:38Speaker 2: Yeah, take that little notication bill.
- 4:42Speaker 3: That's not a weird anyway. Anyway, So last week we
- 4:48Speaker 3: did evil in Me by Brahm, and then before that
- 4:53Speaker 3: we did Annihilation.
- 4:55Speaker 1: And this week, even though Holidays season is is now over,
- 5:00Speaker 1: we're we're still gonna be doing some spooky stuff.
- 5:03Speaker 2: When has that ever stopped us before?
- 5:05Speaker 1: Never?
- 5:06Speaker 2: Spooky season's year round, baby, year round.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Or just a couple of homosexuals and homosexuals love the horror.
- 5:15Speaker 1: And today this week we're gonna be doing a nice little,
- 5:18Speaker 1: nice little book called Dead Silence. All right.
- 5:24Speaker 3: Dead Silence, Uh is a sci fi science fiction horror
- 5:29Speaker 3: film and it's by S. A. Barnes, which is a
- 5:33Speaker 3: pen name for the author, Stacey Cade. Yeah, that's the.
- 5:41Speaker 1: Is there a film? Does it? Is it? Does it
- 5:43Speaker 1: have a movie?
- 5:44Speaker 2: Oh? Did I say film? I'm sorry?
- 5:46Speaker 1: Yeah, Like you got me confused. I'm like, wait, there's a.
- 5:49Speaker 2: Movie a movie. There's not a movie.
- 5:52Speaker 1: I mean there is a movie called Dead Silence, but
- 5:54Speaker 1: it's completely it has a completely different plot. But anyway, Yeah,
- 5:57Speaker 1: so Dead Silence is a science is a science sci
- 6:00Speaker 1: fi fantasy horror novel. Takes place, of course, in space. Uh.
- 6:05Speaker 1: It's basically centered around, uh, a luxury cruise liner that
- 6:12Speaker 1: went missing. Several that went that has been missing for
- 6:16Speaker 1: I'd say, what over a decade or so, like several
- 6:18Speaker 1: it's been.
- 6:19Speaker 3: Like I think it was. I think it was at
- 6:23Speaker 3: least a decade, maybe two. The main character now quite
- 6:27Speaker 3: some time.
- 6:28Speaker 1: No, no, no, it was like the main character was
- 6:31Speaker 1: a little girl when it went missing, and I think
- 6:32Speaker 1: her like she had family on it, like she had.
- 6:36Speaker 3: A No, her backstory was something was, something different, had
- 6:41Speaker 3: nothing to do with the cruise ship.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Right, she was a little girl. But she was a
- 6:44Speaker 1: little girl. She does. When she was a little girl,
- 6:46Speaker 1: she does remember that the ship, that the cruise ship
- 6:49Speaker 1: went missing, like it launched and then not long after
- 6:52Speaker 1: it's launched, it went missing. So the crew the cruise ship,
- 6:55Speaker 1: which I believe is called the Andromeda, Yeah, because of course,
- 7:01Speaker 1: and it gone missing. Well over, I'd say around two
- 7:07Speaker 1: twenty years ago. It's twenty years before the story actually
- 7:10Speaker 1: takes place.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Oh no, you're no, no, no, you're right. You're right.
- 7:14Speaker 3: She was on the Aura. Her last memories were her
- 7:18Speaker 3: and her crew discovered the your mind, sorry, don't listen
- 7:22Speaker 3: to me, don't listen to me.
- 7:23Speaker 1: Continue continue, Yeah, so the future Devin edit this lot
- 7:31Speaker 1: that last first part out. So yes. Dead Silence is
- 7:37Speaker 1: a is a sci fi horror book and it's the
- 7:43Speaker 1: plot takes place around a luxury cruise liner, the first
- 7:47Speaker 1: of its kind, so it takes this The story, of course,
- 7:50Speaker 1: takes place several hundred years in the future. Space exploration
- 7:54Speaker 1: is in full swing. We now have I believe there
- 7:58Speaker 1: is FDL travel, but they don't really talk much about it.
- 8:01Speaker 1: They talk about it, there's talk about colonization. The main
- 8:05Speaker 1: character is working on a special kind of like skiff
- 8:10Speaker 1: that travels to like the outer reaches to maintain this
- 8:14Speaker 1: space network. So it is a series of the main character, Claire.
- 8:21Speaker 1: She and her crew work on salvaging and repairing like
- 8:27Speaker 1: this network of buoys that are set up all around
- 8:30Speaker 1: like all out in space, within within explored territory. So
- 8:35Speaker 1: this is how like communications. This is how like this
- 8:38Speaker 1: is how their communication network works. When their people discover
- 8:43Speaker 1: a ghost signal, so it's the signal was pretty much
- 8:48Speaker 1: it would have been completely unnoticed if they weren't so
- 8:51Speaker 1: close to I believe it was because they were so
- 8:54Speaker 1: close to one of the booies that this signal was
- 8:56Speaker 1: being bounced off of it. And that's what they picked
- 8:58Speaker 1: up on. And at first they didn't want to deal.
- 9:03Speaker 1: They didn't want to deal with it because most of
- 9:04Speaker 1: them wanted to go home, their their contracts were ending.
- 9:07Speaker 1: They want to get paid. But then they realized, like,
- 9:09Speaker 1: this is either a first contact scenario or there might
- 9:12Speaker 1: be ah, there might be a lost ship. And the
- 9:19Speaker 1: thing is is, of course this lost ship would have
- 9:22Speaker 1: fallen under UH salvage laws. Of salvage laws. So if
- 9:28Speaker 1: you can so, if you can find, if you find
- 9:31Speaker 1: something in space drifting in space, you technically get the
- 9:34Speaker 1: first you get the what's it called, you get first DIBs.
- 9:38Speaker 1: You get the first DIBs on salvage. And if there
- 9:41Speaker 1: was like a reward for like finding the uh these
- 9:44Speaker 1: lost ships or or whatever REX, then you would get
- 9:48Speaker 1: that reward and you would get first pick of everything
- 9:50Speaker 1: and UH. After reviewing the signal, they realized the signal
- 9:54Speaker 1: is using an old like an old code like decades
- 9:57Speaker 1: old that is no longer being used by modern by
- 10:00Speaker 1: the modern mega mega cord. And after reviewing it, they
- 10:05Speaker 1: realized that this signal is possibly coming from a lost
- 10:10Speaker 1: luxury cruise liner called the Andromeda. Actually, what is the
- 10:17Speaker 1: name of the Oh no, I'm sorry, it's not the Andrama,
- 10:19Speaker 1: it's the Aurora. Okay, future out is the Aurora. And
- 10:24Speaker 1: the thing about the Aurora is that it was the
- 10:26Speaker 1: first and only ship of its kind. It was the
- 10:30Speaker 1: first space cruise liner, and it was built with every
- 10:35Speaker 1: luxury you can think of that you can think of,
- 10:37Speaker 1: all right. This was top notch space travel, all right,
- 10:43Speaker 1: you know, much like modern day cruise liners their luxury.
- 10:47Speaker 1: They're expensive, all right. They take you all over the place,
- 10:53Speaker 1: all right, and they're filled to the brim with all
- 10:55Speaker 1: kinds of different like amenity, these luxuries.
- 11:01Speaker 4: Uh.
- 11:02Speaker 1: And of course it's split into different tiers from ranging
- 11:05Speaker 1: from like bronze to platinum, all right, platinum being like
- 11:10Speaker 1: the most expensive and the most all inclusive, uh, pretty
- 11:16Speaker 1: much every amenity you can think of, right down to
- 11:19Speaker 1: even gold plated faucets and gold plated sinks. And when
- 11:25Speaker 1: they realized, when this crew really when Claire and her
- 11:27Speaker 1: crew realized that this ship could possibly be a could
- 11:32Speaker 1: possibly be the Aurora, they decide to take a trip
- 11:36Speaker 1: to intercept the Aurora. And it takes them about what
- 11:42Speaker 1: what was like three days to get to it.
- 11:47Speaker 3: Yes, I took it on like, yeah, it took my
- 11:50Speaker 3: three days to get to it their location.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Yeah, So since they had just finished there, since they
- 11:59Speaker 1: had just finished their mission in to salvage and set
- 12:03Speaker 1: up the new network of boot of communication buoyes. They decide,
- 12:09Speaker 1: all right, well, for them, this was basically like their
- 12:12Speaker 1: big shot, because their mission was to set up a
- 12:15Speaker 1: new network of communication buoyes that would be completely self
- 12:19Speaker 1: sufficient and wouldn't require crews like them to go out
- 12:24Speaker 1: for repairs they or go out for to like maintain
- 12:28Speaker 1: them or manage them or things like that. They would
- 12:30Speaker 1: be completely self sufficient. They would require as much oversight
- 12:33Speaker 1: like the old ones were, so basically they were setting
- 12:37Speaker 1: up their replacements. Yeah, no longer wouldy need to do
- 12:40Speaker 1: any of that. And after this mission, they all will
- 12:43Speaker 1: be out of jobs unless they, like, I mean some
- 12:46Speaker 1: of them, most of them will be out of jobs,
- 12:48Speaker 1: some of them with the company that they work for.
- 12:51Speaker 1: They it's clear that they have no future. Yeah, because
- 12:54Speaker 1: this is all they know how to do. So they
- 12:56Speaker 1: decide if this is if this derelicship really is, the
- 13:00Speaker 1: Aurora might as well claim salvage because the company itself,
- 13:06Speaker 1: the company they worked for, bought out the company that
- 13:08Speaker 1: originally owned the Aurora, So legally speaking, the Aurora would
- 13:14Speaker 1: belong to the company and the company would definitely crack
- 13:17Speaker 1: down and seize the ship for themselves. So what they
- 13:21Speaker 1: want to do is they claims of the Aurora and
- 13:27Speaker 1: reaped the and like what they were going to do
- 13:29Speaker 1: is that they were going to publish their claim so
- 13:32Speaker 1: that way the company can't just swoop in and just
- 13:35Speaker 1: ease a ship and like keep it under wraps because
- 13:38Speaker 1: the reason because the company had bought the reason why
- 13:41Speaker 1: the current their current company. What are the name of
- 13:44Speaker 1: the companies actually, so I'm not just calling like one
- 13:48Speaker 1: was called like yeah, Varix is the name of the
- 13:51Speaker 1: new one and the old one that was it's like
- 14:00Speaker 1: I think it was like Earth something.
- 14:03Speaker 3: There is probably the most important one, honestly, because the
- 14:06Speaker 3: other company doesn't exist anymore.
- 14:08Speaker 2: They kind of just absolved them.
- 14:10Speaker 1: Yeah. So when so the company that originally owned the Aurora,
- 14:18Speaker 1: they had because of the Aurora's disappearance, because this was
- 14:21Speaker 1: a huge pr disaster. It like months, like not even
- 14:26Speaker 1: three months after it's made in voyage, it goes missing,
- 14:30Speaker 1: no notice, no signals, nothing, It went completely dark. They
- 14:35Speaker 1: even though the original company tried to track down the Aurora,
- 14:39Speaker 1: they couldn't find it no matter what they did. All Right,
- 14:42Speaker 1: it was not on this pre they couldn't find it
- 14:45Speaker 1: anywhere along it's predetermined route. It wasn't anywhere they could
- 14:49Speaker 1: that they themselves could find. So as a result, that
- 14:53Speaker 1: company was sued the families of the families of the passengers,
- 14:59Speaker 1: who are very rich. By the way, these weren't just
- 15:02Speaker 1: like everyday cruise goers. These were We're talking the maiden
- 15:06Speaker 1: voyage was filled with some of the richest and most
- 15:11Speaker 1: influential people you could think of at that time, and
- 15:15Speaker 1: all of them had gone missing. So their families, their benefactors,
- 15:20Speaker 1: every single one of these, every single person, and up
- 15:24Speaker 1: all these all these families came together. They sued the uh,
- 15:28Speaker 1: the owners of the Aurora, to the point where they
- 15:31Speaker 1: went bankrupt, and one of their competitors, Verrex, ended up
- 15:35Speaker 1: buying out the company and seized all of their exploratory ships.
- 15:40Speaker 1: Because the Virex is now a mega corporation. They originally
- 15:45Speaker 1: their big their big deal was colonization and terrorforming. But
- 15:49Speaker 1: the other company that they ended up that Verreckx, ended
- 15:51Speaker 1: up buying out Wash. Before Verreks bought out this other company,
- 15:56Speaker 1: Verrex was the They were the terraformers. They were the
- 15:59Speaker 1: planet planetary development while then the original owners of the
- 16:04Speaker 1: Aurora were the ones that built the ships. They built
- 16:07Speaker 1: ships for exploratory missions and things like that. They were
- 16:10Speaker 1: they were the ones that pioneered space exploration. Yeah, but
- 16:16Speaker 1: then their competitor swooped in bought out the company, and
- 16:19Speaker 1: now Vrex is not only the leader in space exploration
- 16:25Speaker 1: but in terraforming as well. So Claire and her crewmates
- 16:32Speaker 1: voler Caine, Ladras and nisis are you pronouncing? I'm sorry,
- 16:46Speaker 1: there's like I think like dust is very high. I'm
- 16:50Speaker 1: not sure if it's just in my house, but oh
- 16:53Speaker 1: my god, I'm like, do I have like a tissue
- 16:56Speaker 1: near It's mainly the mustache, but my mustache does not
- 17:00Speaker 1: grow very very well, not like the wrist'll be.
- 17:05Speaker 2: Oh my musta. She is amazing, all good for you anyway.
- 17:10Speaker 1: Yeah, so anyway, uh so, Claire, along with her crewmates
- 17:17Speaker 1: voler Caine loud this and this and Nissus. I'm not
- 17:23Speaker 1: sure how to pronounce it. It's a very strong Spanish name.
- 17:26Speaker 1: It's loud, remember Lulu. She wants to try to explain
- 17:30Speaker 1: that her name is pronounced like loud dress like loudness.
- 17:36Speaker 2: I'm trying to remember how they pronounced it.
- 17:37Speaker 1: In the in the audiobook, I'm pretty sure like in English,
- 17:42Speaker 1: we would probably pronounce it lords.
- 17:45Speaker 3: Yeah, it was something else, something similar to what you
- 17:47Speaker 3: were saying with as far as the Spanish.
- 17:49Speaker 1: Pron yeah loud lord, yes, loudness, loudness, and this is anyway,
- 17:56Speaker 1: I'm just gonna call her lordis because I don't know
- 17:58Speaker 1: how to pronounce it. So the crew the way, so
- 18:07Speaker 1: the so Claire and her crew had ended up setting uh.
- 18:11Speaker 1: This made a decision to go ahead and find the Aurora.
- 18:15Speaker 1: They they leave, they leave the buoys behind, and after
- 18:22Speaker 1: about a few days of travel, they found they found
- 18:24Speaker 1: it and as far as they can tell, the ship
- 18:28Speaker 1: was in was in perfect condition mm hmm. And this
- 18:33Speaker 1: led them to begin This led them to begin to
- 18:35Speaker 1: believe that something was terribly wrong, like something was off,
- 18:41Speaker 1: because by all right, by all rights, this ship should
- 18:48Speaker 1: have been completely Everyone was led to believe that the
- 18:51Speaker 1: ship had just been destroyed, it had been lost, and
- 18:55Speaker 1: the initial search attempts did find debris that was believed
- 19:00Speaker 1: to have belonged to the Aurora or maybe some of
- 19:02Speaker 1: its escape pods, but they couldn't find the ship. Even
- 19:06Speaker 1: if the ship had blown up, there would have been
- 19:08Speaker 1: a large, there would have been remains, there would have
- 19:11Speaker 1: been a wreckage, but after a quick cursory glance at
- 19:15Speaker 1: the outside hull of the ship, the Aurora looked fine.
- 19:19Speaker 1: They did do a flyover. So the way the ship
- 19:23Speaker 1: is built, I mean it just imagine like a typical
- 19:26Speaker 1: luxury cruise liner but as a spaceship. But on either
- 19:31Speaker 1: ends of this of the Aurora, there were these atrium
- 19:35Speaker 1: like observation deck observation decks, and in one they can
- 19:41Speaker 1: see they can clearly see that there was some there
- 19:45Speaker 1: had been some kind of fight on the ship, like
- 19:49Speaker 1: it was in one atrium, like both atriums had pools
- 19:52Speaker 1: in them or actually, I'm sorry, one had a pull
- 19:54Speaker 1: and the other one was more of like a greenhouse
- 19:57Speaker 1: and the one with a pole. They noticed that one
- 20:00Speaker 1: the water was completely frozen. And but they can see
- 20:04Speaker 1: clear signs of like some kind of fight, like there
- 20:07Speaker 1: may have been an explosion. They could see the uh,
- 20:10Speaker 1: they could see the doors leading leading into the atrium
- 20:14Speaker 1: were blown off their hinges, but they couldn't really see
- 20:16Speaker 1: much else though they saw stains on the on the
- 20:19Speaker 1: floor that looked like they may have been blood. So
- 20:26Speaker 1: they decide, all right, let's try to dock with the ship,
- 20:29Speaker 1: and using old old company codes that allowed them to
- 20:34Speaker 1: remote access the ship, they were able to open one
- 20:36Speaker 1: of the docking base and h and lamb and dock
- 20:41Speaker 1: with the ship, picking just three people out from the
- 20:44Speaker 1: from their crew. They do, man, they do go into
- 20:47Speaker 1: the ship and begin to explore Claire. I should say, uh,
- 20:53Speaker 1: I want to point out that Claire, the main character,
- 20:55Speaker 1: Claire is she had let's just say, she has her
- 21:01Speaker 1: own demons, tum her her own trauma. Yeah. She she
- 21:09Speaker 1: herself was was the only survivor of a horrific pandemic
- 21:15Speaker 1: that killed everyone in her in her home. She used
- 21:20Speaker 1: to be a colonist on I believe it was on Mars, right.
- 21:25Speaker 2: I thinks so are something similar to that vein.
- 21:28Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure the only one.
- 21:29Speaker 2: That she was the only one that survived of the
- 21:31Speaker 2: facility or and whatnot.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Yeah, when she was a little girl, she uh, she
- 21:38Speaker 1: was living on a colony. She was living on a colony,
- 21:41Speaker 1: and uh, there had been an outbreak of a disease.
- 21:45Speaker 1: Now they had quarantined. This had resulted in half of
- 21:48Speaker 1: that colony being quarantined and they had managed to like
- 21:53Speaker 1: stop the spread of the infection at first, but Claire,
- 21:57Speaker 1: for some reason, she experienced is hallucinations and she thought
- 22:04Speaker 1: she saw she thought she saw a friend of hers
- 22:09Speaker 1: who had been quarantined and who had been quarantined. She
- 22:12Speaker 1: was part of the people that were in the other
- 22:14Speaker 1: half of the colony that was quarantined. But she saw
- 22:16Speaker 1: this little girl running around outside of the quarantine and
- 22:21Speaker 1: she thought, oh, she must be okay. So unfortunately Claire
- 22:25Speaker 1: ended up breaking quarantine because she followed this image of
- 22:30Speaker 1: this girl into the quarantine section, and unfortunately it caused
- 22:34Speaker 1: the infection to spread to the rest of the colony.
- 22:37Speaker 1: In the end, for some reason, she did not get sick.
- 22:39Speaker 1: Claire did not get sick, but her parents and not
- 22:44Speaker 1: her parents, her mother ends up dying and the rest
- 22:47Speaker 1: of the colony dies, and weeks later, when the company
- 22:52Speaker 1: sends somebody to investigate, they find that she is the
- 22:56Speaker 1: only survivor and everyone else had died.
- 22:59Speaker 3: And she's hound about the images of her dead mother
- 23:04Speaker 3: floating around and zero gravity and stuff. That's the part
- 23:09Speaker 3: of her hallucination she sees while she's on the ship too.
- 23:11Speaker 1: But yeah, so when she entered As soon as Claire
- 23:16Speaker 1: enters the ship, she immediately sees the ghostly image of
- 23:20Speaker 1: her mother, and it looks like her mother is like
- 23:22Speaker 1: screaming at her, like freaking out. And the thing is
- 23:25Speaker 1: is that she Yeah. So, as it turns out, it
- 23:32Speaker 1: is revealed later on in the book that Claire is
- 23:34Speaker 1: actually able to see the image. She's actually able to
- 23:38Speaker 1: see ghosts. She's able to see the images of dead people.
- 23:42Speaker 1: And part of the reason why she chose to be
- 23:45Speaker 1: a deep space salvager and work on these skiffs and
- 23:48Speaker 1: things like that, and she always chooses to work on
- 23:51Speaker 1: the furthest fringes of society. So like we're talking deep space,
- 23:57Speaker 1: edge of known space. All of that is that because
- 24:00Speaker 1: when she is out there as far away from civilization
- 24:03Speaker 1: as possible, she rarely, if not ever, sees these goat
- 24:07Speaker 1: the images of dead people. Yeah, so she doesn't see
- 24:11Speaker 1: these ghosts, but the thing is here and there she
- 24:15Speaker 1: will see the image of her dead mother whenever there's danger.
- 24:21Speaker 1: So she's immediately off put by seeing this image of
- 24:26Speaker 1: our mother, and but still wanting to wanting to continue.
- 24:32Speaker 1: They decide to keep going. Now they know that they
- 24:36Speaker 1: can't take the entire ship with them, not without because
- 24:39Speaker 1: they're one for one they don't know if the ship
- 24:41Speaker 1: itself is still functional. And two they want to be
- 24:44Speaker 1: able to make sure that they can lay claim to
- 24:46Speaker 1: the ship without the company to without the company just
- 24:50Speaker 1: sweeping it out from under them. So before even docking
- 24:56Speaker 1: on the ship, they were trying to decide, like what
- 24:57Speaker 1: from what exactly can they take from the ship that
- 25:01Speaker 1: will determine that that without a doubt they had found
- 25:05Speaker 1: the Aurora, the lost space cruiser, the lost space luxury
- 25:10Speaker 1: cruise liner. And they remember that a certain artists had
- 25:16Speaker 1: been commissioned to make these a unique pair of golden statues.
- 25:21Speaker 1: These statues are like about mid size. They're not about
- 25:26Speaker 1: as big as like a person, but they's still like
- 25:28Speaker 1: a decent size. Uh. These are statues of a pair
- 25:31Speaker 1: of angels. And uh these angel statues were set up
- 25:38Speaker 1: within the main atrium of the ship. Now, if they
- 25:42Speaker 1: can get to the atrium, retrieve both pair both angels,
- 25:48Speaker 1: they can prove without a doubt that they'd they'd found
- 25:50Speaker 1: the Aurora, and they can publish that they lay claim
- 25:53Speaker 1: to the salvage rights. So that was their main goal.
- 25:59Speaker 1: Get in, possibly figure out what happens to the passengers
- 26:03Speaker 1: and crew, get the angels, maybe find the uh, find
- 26:09Speaker 1: the black box and get out. So so I believe
- 26:16Speaker 1: it was let me see here, it was Claire. Yeah,
- 26:28Speaker 1: so it was Claire, and I believe it was vulner
- 26:31Speaker 1: and it wasn't Lordis. It was probably k Yeah, it
- 26:35Speaker 1: was Vuler and Kane. Yeah, Lordis and Nissus both stayed
- 26:39Speaker 1: on the ship. Both stayed on the skiff. And excuse me,
- 26:47Speaker 1: they where they had entered? Where there? The where the
- 26:51Speaker 1: ship's docking day was was on the lower levels of
- 26:53Speaker 1: the ship. So this is where all the crew quarters were,
- 26:56Speaker 1: and since gravity, since artificial gravity was off, they basically
- 27:01Speaker 1: had to navigate through all the floating debris and wreckage.
- 27:04Speaker 1: Pretty much everything within the ship on the lower levels
- 27:07Speaker 1: of the ship looked fine. They did find some eerie
- 27:10Speaker 1: messages written here and there, and it was written in
- 27:15Speaker 1: what looked like blood. So that's not a good sign.
- 27:19Speaker 1: This this story, the whole vibe of it was giving
- 27:22Speaker 1: Hella event Horizon vibes.
- 27:25Speaker 2: And that happened.
- 27:26Speaker 3: We won the inspirations for this book too. Obviously that
- 27:30Speaker 3: alien and the actual movie called ghost Ship.
- 27:35Speaker 1: Yeah there is. There's a movie called ghost there is.
- 27:38Speaker 3: But asn't didn't do with space it's just a it's
- 27:41Speaker 3: the god, it's the one. It's the horror movie that's
- 27:45Speaker 3: stories basically like all like a bunch of these people
- 27:47Speaker 3: died on the ship and their ghosts haunt the ship.
- 27:49Speaker 3: But had the infinite scene where the wire or there's
- 27:52Speaker 3: like a bunch of people dancing and had like a
- 27:54Speaker 3: wire cutter go through cut everybody in half.
- 27:58Speaker 1: It was like that.
- 27:59Speaker 2: It was a good infinitous and.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Watch that now.
- 28:03Speaker 2: Yeah, it's the open thing is pretty good because.
- 28:06Speaker 3: They're standing and then a girl ducks down and then
- 28:09Speaker 3: someone gets a wire and just and all these people
- 28:12Speaker 3: are cut from the from the torso down in half
- 28:15Speaker 3: and they just start falling about pieces.
- 28:17Speaker 1: Jesus damn. I gotta watch one of.
- 28:21Speaker 3: The inspirations for this book too, which is which makes
- 28:25Speaker 3: total sense what you watch them?
- 28:28Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. So so they keep making their way through
- 28:36Speaker 1: the ship and they finally reach the main atrium, which
- 28:39Speaker 1: was it, which is in the dead center of the ship,
- 28:42Speaker 1: and at first they it looks empty mm hm. And
- 28:46Speaker 1: as they're moving towards the center, they have to they
- 28:49Speaker 1: have to navigate to the center of the atrium because
- 28:51Speaker 1: there's a spiral staircase that goes up to the very
- 28:54Speaker 1: top of the ship, which is where the platinum level is,
- 28:57Speaker 1: as well as where the bridge is. But as it
- 28:59Speaker 1: makes their way towards the main staircase to get up
- 29:03Speaker 1: to the platinum level, they can they from a from afar,
- 29:07Speaker 1: they can see that one of the two angels that
- 29:09Speaker 1: they were looking for, and just as they're about to
- 29:12Speaker 1: reach it, they start noticing that the light on the
- 29:14Speaker 1: grounds keeps shifting like almost like their shadows continuously moving
- 29:19Speaker 1: across the light source, and all the lights are all
- 29:22Speaker 1: the lights are dead, so the only light is coming
- 29:26Speaker 1: from uh so the only light is coming from whatever
- 29:28Speaker 1: is coming from outside of the ship, which is mainly
- 29:30Speaker 1: the stars and and things like that. And when they
- 29:36Speaker 1: notice the shifting of the light, they look up and
- 29:39Speaker 1: right above them, floating in the air are the frozen
- 29:43Speaker 1: corpses of all of the passengers.
- 29:46Speaker 2: Oh, this scene is so good. In the audiobook, I
- 29:50Speaker 2: was like, oh, oh, this is so good.
- 29:54Speaker 3: Yeah, it's atmospheric like they the right.
- 30:00Speaker 1: The book was just as good. It was. It was
- 30:02Speaker 1: very ominous. They had such a really good build up
- 30:04Speaker 1: to it because you're already like I'm already like, oh, crap,
- 30:06Speaker 1: are they gonna find what is it gonna be? Aliens
- 30:08Speaker 1: is just gonna be like people just went mad? What's
- 30:10Speaker 1: going on?
- 30:11Speaker 2: Ah?
- 30:13Speaker 1: So yeah, hundreds of corpses are floating in the air.
- 30:21Speaker 1: They're frozen because since life support is turned off, there's
- 30:25Speaker 1: no heat and space. You know, everything's gonna freeze. And
- 30:33Speaker 1: everybody when they get a closer look at these corpses,
- 30:36Speaker 1: every single person, every corpse was in some form of
- 30:41Speaker 1: state of violent death. They are they were like they
- 30:45Speaker 1: were in the process of brutally murdering somebody else. They most,
- 30:50Speaker 1: if not every person, every crew member, every passenger had
- 30:54Speaker 1: some form of makeshift weapon, and in some cases they
- 30:57Speaker 1: were clinging to each other and it was clear that
- 31:00Speaker 1: they were killing each other.
- 31:01Speaker 3: There was one bitch that had like a butcher knife
- 31:04Speaker 3: taped to her hand as she was trying to stab
- 31:07Speaker 3: somebody in mid air.
- 31:08Speaker 1: I was like, oh, so good that that chick, That
- 31:12Speaker 1: chick with the butcher knife. She was She was actually
- 31:16Speaker 1: like a celebrity, Like she had a fame, She had
- 31:18Speaker 1: a famous like reality show. She and her sister did
- 31:21Speaker 1: a like reality show. Very problematic. I'm not really surprised
- 31:25Speaker 1: that's how she went out.
- 31:27Speaker 3: Uh yeah, but it was a reality show for the ship.
- 31:30Speaker 3: Mm hmmm, and they only aired I think like two episodes.
- 31:33Speaker 3: I think that's what they said. They only aired like
- 31:34Speaker 3: two episodes and then the that everything went quiet for
- 31:37Speaker 3: the from the ship.
- 31:39Speaker 1: So yeah, so they crew, So Claire and her crew,
- 31:43Speaker 1: after seeing this, they quickly decide they need to get
- 31:45Speaker 1: to the bottom of this. They also quickly unscrew and
- 31:50Speaker 1: grabbed the two uh, grabbed the two angels because that's
- 31:54Speaker 1: what they came there for. And they immediately go up
- 31:57Speaker 1: to the go up to the Platinum level to make
- 31:59Speaker 1: it to the bridge. As they're making as they're making
- 32:03Speaker 1: it their way through the Platinum level, they do find
- 32:05Speaker 1: one of They do search the rooms and they find
- 32:08Speaker 1: the room that belonged to the Sisters, the reality Sisters,
- 32:12Speaker 1: and they actually find crew like recording equipment, like the
- 32:17Speaker 1: equipment that the crew had used to film their show.
- 32:21Speaker 1: And after reviewing it, they see that uh, it showed
- 32:27Speaker 1: that like gradually, over the period of like about three days,
- 32:31Speaker 1: the crew and the passengers of the Aurora were slowly
- 32:35Speaker 1: beginning had slowly started losing their minds. It showed that
- 32:38Speaker 1: they were experiencing visual and auditory hallucinations as well. As paranoia.
- 32:47Speaker 1: Claire and her crew unsurprisingly also began to begin to
- 32:52Speaker 1: experience these same effects uh up to the point where
- 32:57Speaker 1: they reached while there in the bridge, and they're trying
- 33:01Speaker 1: to like they actually when they reach the bridge, they
- 33:04Speaker 1: actually find that the first captain, the first mate, and
- 33:07Speaker 1: the captain had killed each other, and after reviewing some
- 33:12Speaker 1: of the ship's logs, they see they also see the
- 33:15Speaker 1: reports from They also see the logs from the captain
- 33:19Speaker 1: and first mate that confirmed that people were beginning to
- 33:23Speaker 1: experience like beginning to go violent, and at one point,
- 33:26Speaker 1: at the very last video you do see the later
- 33:29Speaker 1: half of the fight that resulted in both the first
- 33:33Speaker 1: mate and the captain killing each other. Claire, being used
- 33:39Speaker 1: to seeing like these hallucinations, has a better handle of it,
- 33:44Speaker 1: even though it's no easier for her, whereas Voler and Cain.
- 33:51Speaker 2: Not so much.
- 33:52Speaker 1: They're not having a they're not really having a good time,
- 33:55Speaker 1: and Voler himself begins experiencing more extreme paranoia and hallucinations
- 34:03Speaker 1: to the point where he ends up shooting himself. They
- 34:10Speaker 1: had tried to stop Claire and Kan had tried to
- 34:13Speaker 1: stop him, but he ends up kicking her away and
- 34:18Speaker 1: she ends up hitting her head, getting a fracture in
- 34:21Speaker 1: her skull, and the next thing Claire remembers is that
- 34:27Speaker 1: she after that whole incident, she does wake up and
- 34:31Speaker 1: she's now back on Earth and she's in and she's
- 34:34Speaker 1: in Varick's custody. They put her in this place called
- 34:37Speaker 1: the Tower, which is where dissidents or people who experience
- 34:42Speaker 1: extreme forms of mental illnesses that are brought upon by
- 34:46Speaker 1: like space exploration. Because space exploration, like it or not,
- 34:51Speaker 1: is going to begin. It's going to create a whole
- 34:53Speaker 1: new genre of mental illnesses.
- 34:57Speaker 2: Yeah, I can only imagine.
- 35:00Speaker 1: So she was there for three months, and she was
- 35:03Speaker 1: continuous with being questioned by the company trying to figure
- 35:06Speaker 1: out what had happened. She eventually does, like she's eventually
- 35:11Speaker 1: able to recall everything that had happened. They had drugged her,
- 35:15Speaker 1: They had kept her so thoroughly medicated that it wasn't
- 35:18Speaker 1: helping with her memory loss, but she she herself, of course,
- 35:23Speaker 1: was willingly taking the medicine because now that she's back
- 35:26Speaker 1: on Earth, she's constantly seeing the images of her dead crew,
- 35:30Speaker 1: especially I believe it was Cain, because Caine is she
- 35:39Speaker 1: and Kane actually have a Yeah, it was Kane. She
- 35:45Speaker 1: and Kane actually began to developing a relationship. The thing is,
- 35:48Speaker 1: though Claire is very mistrusting and very like, you know,
- 35:53Speaker 1: traumatized from her past that she's afraid to let anybody
- 35:56Speaker 1: get close to her because she's afraid that she's they're
- 35:59Speaker 1: just gonna end up dying. And unfortunately, the whole event,
- 36:02Speaker 1: the whole thing that happened on the Aurora, and then
- 36:06Speaker 1: of course what happened with her and she was a
- 36:09Speaker 1: child doesn't exactly help. There was a thing that happened
- 36:12Speaker 1: with her as a child, and then what happened on
- 36:14Speaker 1: the Aurora. She's now like, yeah, she's been validated, her
- 36:17Speaker 1: feelings have been vindicated, and so she's terrified of letting
- 36:23Speaker 1: herself get close. But the thing is is that Nissus
- 36:28Speaker 1: and the thing is is like before they had left
- 36:31Speaker 1: the Aurora that she ended up getting escaping the Aurora.
- 36:35Speaker 1: This is in Lord of This both come onto the ship.
- 36:42Speaker 1: She had Nissus uses tech magic to activate some of
- 36:46Speaker 1: the ship's functions, mainly just live support and artificial gravity.
- 36:53Speaker 1: Though before they activated artificial gravity, they had to go
- 36:56Speaker 1: through and collect all the bodies and set them close
- 37:00Speaker 1: to the floor because as soon as they turned on
- 37:01Speaker 1: the artificial gravity, it's gonna break the body. So they
- 37:06Speaker 1: didn't want to like create a mess with all the bodies,
- 37:10Speaker 1: so they managed to like get them closer to the
- 37:12Speaker 1: floor so when they had anti gravity the artificial gravity
- 37:15Speaker 1: turned on, they wouldn't be destroying all these corpses. But
- 37:19Speaker 1: still the rest Nsis and Lord of this all ended
- 37:23Speaker 1: up going mad, and they too also ended up dying
- 37:26Speaker 1: as a result of whatever phenomenon drove the people on
- 37:30Speaker 1: the ship on the Aurora mad. But still the company
- 37:37Speaker 1: tells Claire three months after she returned to Earth that
- 37:43Speaker 1: the Aurora was found again and it looks like it's
- 37:46Speaker 1: moving and it's on a course to Earth. And terrified,
- 37:50Speaker 1: Claire tell like she she tells them everything that she remembers,
- 37:56Speaker 1: but she cannot for for some reason, she cannot remember
- 37:59Speaker 1: anything beyond what happened of all her when they tried
- 38:03Speaker 1: to when she tried to stop him from uh trigger
- 38:08Speaker 1: warning from from killing himself. I'm sorry, I should have
- 38:11Speaker 1: put the trigger warning earlier. But she couldn't remember anything
- 38:16Speaker 1: beyond what happened to full what happened to Fuller. Next
- 38:19Speaker 1: thing she knew she was being pulled out of an
- 38:21Speaker 1: escape pod and she was taken back to Earth.
- 38:25Speaker 2: And now here she now she here.
- 38:27Speaker 1: She is forced to disclose everything that happened, and she
- 38:33Speaker 1: decides to con. She con She manages to convince the
- 38:36Speaker 1: company to allow her to UH, to allow her to
- 38:45Speaker 1: a company I'm sorry the word left me. She allowed
- 38:47Speaker 1: her to accompany the salvage mission that was gonna that's
- 38:52Speaker 1: being sent by Ferrac's security and crew to get to
- 38:58Speaker 1: the Aurora and make sure an and investigate.
- 39:01Speaker 4: Ah.
- 39:02Speaker 1: They do agree, but they they end up sending the
- 39:07Speaker 1: company a company man with her to keep an eye
- 39:10Speaker 1: on her because to this day, they believe that Claire
- 39:14Speaker 1: murdered her entire crew because everything she told them just
- 39:18Speaker 1: doesn't really add up, like what would drive all these
- 39:21Speaker 1: people to hallucinate and have these like and end up,
- 39:25Speaker 1: you know, killing each other. So they're pretty skeptical, skeptical
- 39:29Speaker 1: and there's not really much proof to back up her claims.
- 39:33Speaker 1: But she ends up accompanying UH. She ends up accompanying
- 39:37Speaker 1: the salvage crew back to the ship. She does warn
- 39:41Speaker 1: them that what to expect they maybe get as soon
- 39:47Speaker 1: as they answer the ship, they may begin experiencing some
- 39:53Speaker 1: form of mass hallucination, paranormal paranoia, aggression, and to just
- 39:59Speaker 1: really like just don't believe anything that's there. She leads
- 40:03Speaker 1: them on. They dock with the ship, and she leads
- 40:05Speaker 1: them into the atrium, though as they're making their way
- 40:09Speaker 1: through the ship, Jesus Christ, less you future do haven't
- 40:17Speaker 1: covert that part up. As they enter the ship, she
- 40:21Speaker 1: notices that half of the security team gets sent to
- 40:24Speaker 1: another part of the ship, and they won't tell her
- 40:28Speaker 1: where other than they're just going to check the engine room.
- 40:32Speaker 1: They make it to the atrium and they find that
- 40:34Speaker 1: because live support had been turned back on, and it
- 40:37Speaker 1: seemed like it seemed like someone had done a complete
- 40:40Speaker 1: system a system reboot of the whole of the whole ship.
- 40:46Speaker 1: Live support is on, gravity is on, and all the
- 40:49Speaker 1: corpses that were once frozen and perfectly preserved are now
- 40:53Speaker 1: thought out and completely in later stages of desiccation. So
- 40:58Speaker 1: it was a gruesome sight all these like dead bodies.
- 41:04Speaker 1: Claire and the company and the security team make their
- 41:08Speaker 1: way back up to the Platinum level and they actually
- 41:13Speaker 1: are surprised to find that not all of her crew
- 41:16Speaker 1: had died in one of in one of the platinum
- 41:26Speaker 1: levels rooms. They find that it had been converted into
- 41:30Speaker 1: some form of safe room, Like what do they call
- 41:34Speaker 1: those rooms at an asylum where it's completely padded It's
- 41:44Speaker 1: like just padded rooms, right, yeah, there's cells. Maybe it's well,
- 41:52Speaker 1: it's can They find that one of the rooms in
- 41:54Speaker 1: the platinum level was completely converted into a makeshift padded room.
- 41:58Speaker 1: So like matches this from like a bunch of the
- 42:00Speaker 1: other rooms have been pulled in and set up all around,
- 42:04Speaker 1: like the floor furniture had been moved around, the walls
- 42:07Speaker 1: had been lined with some of the mattresses and whatever
- 42:11Speaker 1: cushions that could be found. And inside this padded room
- 42:14Speaker 1: they find came. It turns out he survived the last
- 42:18Speaker 1: three months and he sequestered himself within this padded room
- 42:22Speaker 1: to uh, to protect himself and to protect himself, and
- 42:26Speaker 1: he claims that whatever is causing this hysteria, this uh,
- 42:35Speaker 1: whatever's causing this these hallucinations is and hysteria. It has
- 42:41Speaker 1: some they he believed that it had something to do
- 42:43Speaker 1: with vibrations through the ship, because it's revealed early on
- 42:49Speaker 1: in the book that the ship had a very special
- 42:51Speaker 1: kind of noise dampening like uh inert show dampening, So
- 42:57Speaker 1: like the hull itself, it uses a special kind of
- 43:00Speaker 1: alloy that absorbs and dampens like the hum of the
- 43:05Speaker 1: ship's engines, as well as like act as like a
- 43:07Speaker 1: form of inertia dampener and something. They at first believed
- 43:13Speaker 1: that whatever's causing this phenomenon is being caused by sound,
- 43:18Speaker 1: like some form of sound or like a hyper frequency
- 43:21Speaker 1: that is reverberating through the ship us through these dampeners,
- 43:27Speaker 1: and with these dampeners in mind, using like with this
- 43:35Speaker 1: theory about the dampers in mind, Cain had created that
- 43:37Speaker 1: padded room to see if it will dampen the effects
- 43:42Speaker 1: of the hallucinations, and to an extent it did. He
- 43:44Speaker 1: was able to stave off the paranoia and hysteria while
- 43:50Speaker 1: being sequestered in this room, though he continued though he
- 43:54Speaker 1: did experiences, he did experience hallucinations in the form of Claire.
- 43:59Speaker 1: So even the real Claire shows up, he still acts
- 44:02Speaker 1: like he's he's not entirely sure if he's speaking to
- 44:04Speaker 1: the real Claire, and then oftentimes they see him look
- 44:09Speaker 1: looking off and speaking to somebody else. The thing is,
- 44:14Speaker 1: as it turns out, is that this was not a
- 44:17Speaker 1: salvage mission. They learned that the company had came here
- 44:21Speaker 1: and actually just came here to destroy the ship. Goorcher
- 44:26Speaker 1: and Max, the leader of the security team, ends up
- 44:33Speaker 1: locking both Claire Kane and the executive from the company,
- 44:39Speaker 1: guy named Red. They locked him, he locks him all
- 44:42Speaker 1: inside the room, and it's not long after this Claire
- 44:49Speaker 1: learns the truth about what happened on the Aura. So
- 44:55Speaker 1: twenty years ago, Verres had paid one of the crew
- 44:58Speaker 1: members to sabotage the Aurora on its main and voyage
- 45:02Speaker 1: so that they, the company that owned it, would go bankrupt,
- 45:06Speaker 1: allowing Arricks to buy them out. The way they did
- 45:08Speaker 1: this was this crew member was given a special weapon
- 45:13Speaker 1: of mass destruction. It's a weapon that emits a hypersonic
- 45:18Speaker 1: frequency intended to merely cause headaches and mild distress. So
- 45:22Speaker 1: its original purpose wasn't to kill people, but just to
- 45:26Speaker 1: make them really uncomfortable. Right, So that way, by the
- 45:30Speaker 1: end of the cruise, it was just going to be like, yeah, no, no,
- 45:34Speaker 1: this isn't safe, right, wasn't original. They weren't originally intending
- 45:40Speaker 1: to uh, they weren't intending to kill people, but it
- 45:47Speaker 1: had gone completely wrong because, as I said, before the
- 45:50Speaker 1: dampeners built into the ship's hull. What is what caused
- 45:56Speaker 1: everything to go wrong? Because the dampeners ended up amplifying
- 46:04Speaker 1: the device's signal, so instead of causing mild headaches and distress,
- 46:09Speaker 1: they caused severe headaches hallucinations. And it is someone implied
- 46:15Speaker 1: the elimined ability to seek ghosts, so like for Claire,
- 46:19Speaker 1: it just amplified her ability to seek ghosts. So she
- 46:22Speaker 1: was seeing these horrific ghostly images appear on the ship
- 46:29Speaker 1: and just made her, like her own mental state deteriorate.
- 46:35Speaker 1: Max was sent to retrieve the device and then destroy
- 46:38Speaker 1: the ship because if they found out, if anyone found
- 46:40Speaker 1: out what happened, Verres would be in deep shit.
- 46:43Speaker 2: Yeah, because they sabotaged the ship on purpose.
- 46:46Speaker 1: Yeah, so reading Claire as be left aboard read to
- 46:52Speaker 1: make the destruction believable, as Verrex would be losing a
- 46:55Speaker 1: valued employee and Claire who would serve as a scapegoat.
- 46:59Speaker 2: Yeah that she just went mad because people think she's
- 47:02Speaker 2: already crazy, so.
- 47:04Speaker 1: They already think she Craig Cray, so who better to
- 47:07Speaker 1: pim this on? But the thing is, things don't always
- 47:10Speaker 1: work out like they plan. And if anything, if Varricks
- 47:14Speaker 1: should learn anything should better. They should have known better.
- 47:18Speaker 1: So because Claire manages to escape the room with Reed
- 47:21Speaker 1: and Kane, Claire decides that she realizes that there's not
- 47:28Speaker 1: going to be an easy way to escape because there's
- 47:30Speaker 1: a massive team of Varick's security on the ship now
- 47:35Speaker 1: with weapons, they'd be dead before they managed to get
- 47:38Speaker 1: to an escape pod or better yet, get back to
- 47:40Speaker 1: the skiff which was still on the ship.
- 47:43Speaker 2: Yeah, so.
- 47:46Speaker 1: Claire decides that they're going to use Virex's own weapon
- 47:50Speaker 1: against them. So to do that, she further amplifies the
- 47:58Speaker 1: device's ability by removing the sounds from by turning off
- 48:01Speaker 1: the sound dampeners, so the alloy in the hall, so
- 48:05Speaker 1: the dampeners they will see the dampeners did help to
- 48:09Speaker 1: prevent the weapon from fully like going into full effect,
- 48:13Speaker 1: and but the ship's special alloyed hall is what was
- 48:18Speaker 1: causing the sounds to be amplified and created the more
- 48:23Speaker 1: severe side effects. So she decides we're going to completely
- 48:28Speaker 1: just turn off the sound dampeners on the ship, allowing
- 48:31Speaker 1: the web allowing the weapons full signal to be broadcast
- 48:36Speaker 1: throughout the entire ship, and the ship's alloy of the
- 48:39Speaker 1: ship's hull with the sound amplifying alloy well just basically
- 48:46Speaker 1: dial everything from ten to one hundred. Yeah, So now
- 48:50Speaker 1: this hyper frequency is further amplified, and immediately after the ship,
- 48:58Speaker 1: the security team begins to go realistic. They start killing
- 49:01Speaker 1: each other. They start attacking each other, Claire herself. She
- 49:04Speaker 1: almost gets killed because the company exec that was with
- 49:08Speaker 1: her Reed. He fully snaps and attacks Claire. She both
- 49:13Speaker 1: she and Kane managed to evade him and they flee
- 49:18Speaker 1: back to their repair ship. Max quickly realized what she
- 49:23Speaker 1: did and seeks her and seeks out Claire, and the
- 49:26Speaker 1: two of them do have a bit of a standoff.
- 49:28Speaker 1: She manages. Claire manages to get the upper hand because
- 49:31Speaker 1: Reid was still following her and he appears in a
- 49:34Speaker 1: tax Max, but Max ends up shooting him and in
- 49:38Speaker 1: the distraction, Claire causes uh deliberately causes a whole breach
- 49:44Speaker 1: because when the security ship arrived, it was too big
- 49:48Speaker 1: to dock into the docking bay like it did like
- 49:51Speaker 1: the skiff was able to dock into it. So what
- 49:54Speaker 1: it did is it extended in an accordion like umbilical,
- 49:58Speaker 1: so it's like a tube shape or more of like
- 50:01Speaker 1: a rectangular box shaped thing that connected to the docking day,
- 50:08Speaker 1: allowing them to enter the ship, and created like a seal,
- 50:12Speaker 1: created a nice air tight seal. So what she does
- 50:14Speaker 1: is that she created I think she No, no, no,
- 50:18Speaker 1: I don't think future Devin cut that part out. She
- 50:21Speaker 1: causes the umbilical to disconnect just she causes it to
- 50:26Speaker 1: shift slightly. She did that by creating like a She
- 50:29Speaker 1: had managed to get a grenade from one of the
- 50:31Speaker 1: security teams and she threw it and when it exploded,
- 50:35Speaker 1: it caused the umbilical to shift, breaking the air the
- 50:38Speaker 1: airtight seal.
- 50:40Speaker 3: And rewind a few seconds and repeat that. What like
- 50:47Speaker 3: the last sentence you said, why do you didn't hear me?
- 50:53Speaker 1: No?
- 50:53Speaker 2: I did, but my computer was kind of so just
- 50:57Speaker 2: repeat that so I can get that on video.
- 51:02Speaker 1: So Claire, she causes a She delierately causes a whole
- 51:06Speaker 1: breach by causing the umbilical from the security ship to
- 51:09Speaker 1: detach fully or to just shift slightly, and this breaks
- 51:14Speaker 1: the airtight seal and she ends up killing Max due
- 51:19Speaker 1: to rapid decompression, she herself almost dies, but she is
- 51:27Speaker 1: saved by Caine and Uh. They managed to They managed
- 51:32Speaker 1: to survive by by getting back onto the skit to
- 51:35Speaker 1: the repair ship, to their repair ship, and they make
- 51:42Speaker 1: it out. And the cool thing is is that on
- 51:44Speaker 1: the repair ship they had actually uh they still had
- 51:50Speaker 1: the the angel statues from the Aurora. So even though
- 51:55Speaker 1: the Aurora got damaged due to the rapid decompression that
- 51:58Speaker 1: it was caused by Claire, they were able to make
- 52:01Speaker 1: it back to Earth, where they not only published everything
- 52:04Speaker 1: that happened that Verix had done, but they were able
- 52:08Speaker 1: to present the angels revealing that this is the truth
- 52:13Speaker 1: of what happened. Now Verrex in the end goes to shit.
- 52:20Speaker 1: So after their escape, it does. The book comes to
- 52:23Speaker 1: a close about two years after the events of what
- 52:26Speaker 1: happened Cana and Claire, they were rescued by salvage ship
- 52:32Speaker 1: and they were from there that's where they broadcast broadcasted
- 52:35Speaker 1: their story and their claims to the Aurora. They gained
- 52:39Speaker 1: full salvage pay from Verrex, as this was done as
- 52:43Speaker 1: part of a pr move to help improve their damage
- 52:46Speaker 1: image because since they published everything that happens, VERYX is
- 52:50Speaker 1: in deep shit and they are highly light and they
- 52:53Speaker 1: are at risk of being completely bankrupt because now the
- 52:57Speaker 1: families that originally sued the uh the company after the
- 53:05Speaker 1: Aurora's disappearance. They're coming out of the woodworks to sue,
- 53:10Speaker 1: to sue Virex now because Varrex knew about the Aurora.
- 53:14Speaker 1: But instead of helping them to get their family the
- 53:16Speaker 1: bodies of their famili's home, they opted to just destroy
- 53:20Speaker 1: the ship. Yeah, they hit it and they just destroyed
- 53:23Speaker 1: They destroyed the ship. So now Claire and Kane there. Claire,
- 53:32Speaker 1: she managed to uh, she managed to heal, though she
- 53:37Speaker 1: may not fully heal from her experiences, she managed to
- 53:41Speaker 1: finally open herself, open up to Cain, and the two
- 53:43Speaker 1: of them are now a couple and together they open
- 53:46Speaker 1: their own transport company. Yeah, they managed to open their own.
- 53:56Speaker 2: I know, it's three o'clock, almost three o'clock.
- 54:00Speaker 1: What we're almost done.
- 54:03Speaker 2: We're almost done.
- 54:04Speaker 1: We're literally actually we're literally donetairs.
- 54:09Speaker 2: And take I'm sorry slowly. I love you anyway anyway.
- 54:22Speaker 1: So, so Virex is at risk of going completely bankrupt,
- 54:28Speaker 1: and the book ends with Claire and Cain now coming
- 54:32Speaker 1: together as a couple. Like I said, Claire is not uh,
- 54:37Speaker 1: she will, she may never fully recover from her experiences,
- 54:41Speaker 1: and Kane himself is dealing with his own trauma, even
- 54:43Speaker 1: though he even though he bounced back pretty well after
- 54:48Speaker 1: his experiences, he's still dealing with fat. He no longer
- 54:53Speaker 1: has those auditory and visual hallucinations, mainly because it was
- 54:57Speaker 1: caused by a Vrex built weapon. Uh, but still trauma
- 55:02Speaker 1: is still there. The two of them succeed in purchasing
- 55:06Speaker 1: a new transport ship together and they decided to open
- 55:09Speaker 1: their own independent transport company.
- 55:11Speaker 2: Yep, so happy ending.
- 55:14Speaker 1: It's really it's it's really nice ending. The two of
- 55:16Speaker 1: them get together and now they're going to start things
- 55:19Speaker 1: on their own, free from the company.
- 55:22Speaker 3: There are the two lung survivors of the Aurora. Now yeah, this, yeah,
- 55:28Speaker 3: this book was. This book was pretty good overall. I
- 55:30Speaker 3: I enjoyed the ride. Sounds like is this ghosts? Is
- 55:33Speaker 3: this company bullshit?
- 55:36Speaker 1: Is this aliens? Like I was? I thought like maybe
- 55:39Speaker 1: like the Aurora. I thought it was gonna be something
- 55:41Speaker 1: like out of Event Horizon, where they like you know,
- 55:47Speaker 1: interdimensional demons ship or like ghosts or maybe like some
- 55:51Speaker 1: form of alien like they they picked up an alien
- 55:54Speaker 1: and that's what I But no, we were both wrong.
- 55:58Speaker 1: It was all it was just human stupidity.
- 56:04Speaker 2: Human greed, greed.
- 56:07Speaker 3: Because there they're all the machine, the device was planted there,
- 56:11Speaker 3: and then everyone just kind of went looney. Yeah, And
- 56:14Speaker 3: I think the excuse they gave was we didn't mean
- 56:17Speaker 3: for it to be turned up that high. We only
- 56:22Speaker 3: wanted it to cause discomfort, not everyone to go bash
- 56:24Speaker 3: it insane. And I'm like, girl, you've al fucked up.
- 56:29Speaker 1: Not to steal a line from from Hell of a Boss,
- 56:34Speaker 1: but sorry, we fucked your husband. Damn. I'm pretty you
- 56:40Speaker 1: probably have to cut that out.
- 56:43Speaker 2: My husband. Wow, that's that's funny.
- 56:47Speaker 1: That's pretty I mean, when you think about it, it
- 56:49Speaker 1: fits the energy, just like sorry, who kills everybody? Like sorry,
- 56:55Speaker 1: sorry we killed everybody. We were just trying to like
- 56:58Speaker 1: make the other company go bank up.
- 57:00Speaker 2: Make them look bad, people feel a little uncomfortable.
- 57:03Speaker 1: We succeeded. We succeeded, though, but but now everyone's.
- 57:07Speaker 3: Dead because we made I'm gonna go psychotic and tape
- 57:09Speaker 3: knives to their hands and stabbed their mother or their sister.
- 57:12Speaker 2: Youw, it's a little thing.
- 57:15Speaker 1: Little It was basically like if you seen the first
- 57:18Speaker 1: Kingsman movie. It was like it was like that when
- 57:20Speaker 1: that that device was set off and everybody just went
- 57:24Speaker 1: Wonko Bonkers.
- 57:25Speaker 2: Yeah, this book was pretty good. So I bought this
- 57:29Speaker 2: book for Jacob for was a birthday or Christmas last year?
- 57:35Speaker 1: It was honestly, my birthday and Christmas come by like
- 57:38Speaker 1: so like are within thirty days of each other, so like, No,
- 57:42Speaker 1: I think.
- 57:42Speaker 3: It was birthday because Christmas I bought. I think I
- 57:44Speaker 3: bought your Godzilla. It was somewhere is here Christmas or Birthday?
- 57:50Speaker 3: I went the two.
- 57:51Speaker 1: I lost track of which books you gave me for
- 57:52Speaker 1: my for birthday and Christmas because everyone had given me
- 57:55Speaker 1: money and like, uh, some several of you guys gave
- 57:58Speaker 1: me money for Barnes and Old So I went and
- 58:00Speaker 1: bought like four books. No, I bought two big books,
- 58:05Speaker 1: Paradise one and that Warhammer book. I still got to
- 58:09Speaker 1: read them, but I decided, like after I finished reading
- 58:12Speaker 1: this book, this is This is the new book that
- 58:14Speaker 1: I'm working on right now. This is called Black Company
- 58:17Speaker 1: by Glenn Cook. If you're familiar with it. If you're
- 58:20Speaker 1: familiar with Glenn Cook, you'll know how good his books are.
- 58:23Speaker 1: I've only read one other book by Glenn Cook. Forgot
- 58:27Speaker 1: the name of it. I think it was called Leviathan.
- 58:30Speaker 1: Well anyway, Glenn's Glenn Cook's No, it's not Leviathan. It's
- 58:35Speaker 1: the one about you're base. They're on like a kind
- 58:39Speaker 1: of like a space tug in this special ship. Its
- 58:44Speaker 1: primary job is like reconnaissance, reconnaissance. And it's like if
- 58:48Speaker 1: you if you read Glenn Cook's novels. His novels are
- 58:51Speaker 1: written like a war journal, like a wartime journal. Yea,
- 58:55Speaker 1: so it's written like as if somebody was writing about
- 58:58Speaker 1: their experiences in war or like just the like the
- 59:04Speaker 1: first hand account. So like it's almost it's like it's
- 59:08Speaker 1: it's like written like a oh no, it says right
- 59:12Speaker 1: here some like there's a review on the back. Reading
- 59:21Speaker 1: his stuff is like reading Vietnam war fiction on paoting.
- 59:27Speaker 1: I have no idea how to bounce that word.
- 59:30Speaker 2: Hm.
- 59:31Speaker 1: Anyway, his books are good. I've read one of them
- 59:35Speaker 1: and I'm gonna start reading this one. This is like
- 59:37Speaker 1: a compendium, so it has like the first three books
- 59:40Speaker 1: in the series, Black Company, Shadows Linger, and The White Rose.
- 59:45Speaker 1: So probably in the future whenever I get around finishing
- 59:47Speaker 1: this book, uh, we'll probably review it. I've just finished
- 59:52Speaker 1: reading two other books. One is called Well. I was
- 59:56Speaker 1: just finished reading another book called into this river. I
- 59:59Speaker 1: drowned by A T. J. Kluhne. I'm currently reading one
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: of Christopher Polini's newest books, which is the fifth installation
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: of the Inheritance the Aragon books. So it's not part
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: of the Inheritance cycle, but it is the fifth book
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: in the world of Aragon, so we're going back to
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: It takes you back to Aligasia, and now it is
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: centered around Murtagh, Aragon's half brother and fellow Dragon writer,
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: and he's also the son of one of the stories,
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: one of the Forsworn, who had served Galbatorux during the
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: fall of the Dragon Writers, so now it's just telling
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: his story. It takes place a year after the events
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: of Inheritance, and Murtag is trying to find his way.
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: But yeah, well there you go, that's what he's reading.
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: Who am I reading?
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: Me?
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: MEI ask, I have no idea. So next, well, we're.
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: Still trying to figureut what we're going to do now week.
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: So you don't have to tell them my god, Oh
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: they don't have to know. I had this.
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: I know what I'm doing. Hey, this isn't like the
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: days of the Wheel of Time anymore, where we knew
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: what I was what we were reviewing next, We're all
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: we're both like, go to be honest, like we read
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: a lot. We both read a lot, and we've I've
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: already reviewed a lot of books that I've read, and
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: I mean, that's not it. I'm telling you right now,
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: that's not all of the books I've read. Those were
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: many of the books that had movie adapt adaptations. But
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: now we're getting into the realm of just regular books,
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: graphic novels, novels and novella's all that jazz like I have.
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: I think, like all my bookshelf over here, we've pretty
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: much lady reviewed all the ones over here. There's a
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: few we haven't. We might start reviewing. We might start
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: reviewing a few of them. I just got to look
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: back and see, like what we haven't reviewed and what
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: stories we could review. Oh you know, I just remember,
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: have we ever reviewed the Mortal Instruments?
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: No, we have not.
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: I've read all of them. That's potentially next story we
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: can go with.
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: We'll have to see by not next time. Until then, I.
- 1:02:23Speaker 3: Jaz hands, Oh my god, did I'm not record? Who
- 1:02:29Speaker 3: did I'm not record the video?
- 1:02:33Speaker 2: You did?
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: At least get the audio right.
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: Devin Craig is in here. I got the audio, okay,
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: I thought I clicked the video.
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: Okay, well you're gonna have to put a disclaimer because
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: I'm not going through this shit again.
- 1:02:50Speaker 3: Like dude, it's so mad at myself. I thought I
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: clicked it and it didn't click. That's some bullshit. It's
- 1:02:56Speaker 3: fine because I'm behind on the video stuff anyways.
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: It doesn't just put a disclimber. Do technical difficulties we will.
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: There will not be video video for this episode, just audio.
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: Honestly, this is a feeling. This doesn't feel like a
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: video worthy episode.
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: No, not really.
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: I'm gonna go ahead and Craig
