Transcript
- 0:04SPEAKER_00: Your next breath in, let that be the moment you arrive.
- 0:13SPEAKER_00: Let your body settle into whatever is holding you right now.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: A chair, the floor, wherever you are, nothing to arrange, nothing to perform.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: Let your breath move like a slow wave in and back out.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: Settle into the breath for a moment.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: Through the weight you've been carrying for other people, through the fear of letting someone down, through learning to trust the quiet no that lives in you, and now finally to rest.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: You don't need to remember any of it precisely.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: Your body already knows the way.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: We're just going to walk it once more, slowly, and let it settle into something whole.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: Picture a long hallway, quiet, softly lit, four doors along it, each one open just a crack.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: Behind each one is something you already know, waiting to be remembered rather than learned for the first time.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: You start walking not toward anything urgent, just walking the way you'd walk through a house you already know well.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: The first door opens onto a room with nothing in it but light and floor.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: A room built for a body and nothing else.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: You step in and notice your own weight for what feels like the first time in a while.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: Your feet on the ground, your own two hands, your own breath moving in and out of a body that has carried you through more than it's ever been thanked for.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: Whatever the answer is, let it be there.
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: You don't have to fix it right now.
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: Let your shoulders drop just slightly the way they do when no one is watching.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: Let your hands go still, palms open.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: This body has been the one constant this whole month.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: Underneath every decision, every hard conversation, every moment of holding still when you wanted to run.
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: Someone sitting across from it, an old version of a moment you remember, someone's face disappointed in you, or about to be.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: You used to walk into rooms like this one and immediately start shrinking, already rehearsing the apology before anyone had said a word.
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: Notice this time that you can sit here without shrinking.
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: The disappointment on the other side of the table is real, and it is theirs.
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: It was never actually a referendum on whether you were a good person.
- 7:22SPEAKER_00: Notice too that the person across the table hasn't left.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: Disappointment passes through people.
- 9:02SPEAKER_00: Steadier than you sat down, and walk to the third door.
- 9:10SPEAKER_00: This one is quieter than the others, almost nothing in it, just a small steady sensation, low in your chest or your stomach, the kind you've learned to call the quiet no.
- 9:31SPEAKER_00: It doesn't shout.
- 9:34SPEAKER_00: It never has.
- 10:06SPEAKER_00: You've been about a give without meaning it.
- 12:38SPEAKER_00: This room is the simplest of all: a bed, low light, nothing waiting on the other side of it.
- 12:48SPEAKER_00: Nobody's going to knock.
- 12:51SPEAKER_00: Nobody's going to ask you for anything in here.
- 12:58SPEAKER_00: You lie down.
- 13:01SPEAKER_00: For a moment, some old part of you scans the room for a task, a person, a thing left undone, and finds nothing.
- 13:16SPEAKER_00: There is genuinely nothing left to do in here but rest.
- 16:08SPEAKER_00: Not yours to fix, the quiet no, and rest finally without a waiting list.
- 16:23SPEAKER_00: All four were always part of the same thing.
- 16:27SPEAKER_00: Not four separate lessons, but one truth wearing four different rooms.
- 16:35SPEAKER_00: You were always allowed to be whole, even while doing all of this imperfectly.
- 17:04SPEAKER_00: How much of your attention was living outside your own body, out there managing other people's needs, other people's moods, other people's schedules.
- 17:22SPEAKER_00: You didn't become a different person since then.
- 17:26SPEAKER_00: You just came home to the one you already were a little more each week, the one who was allowed this whole time to have limits, to disappoint someone occasionally, to trust a quiet no and to rest without asking permission first.
- 17:50SPEAKER_00: That person doesn't disappear when this episode ends.
- 17:55SPEAKER_00: They walk out of this hallway with you into whatever the rest of your week actually holds.
- 22:25SPEAKER_00: Nothing about this month has to end abruptly I already know how to come back to myself.
- 23:32SPEAKER_00: Come back now slowly to wherever you actually are.
- 23:40SPEAKER_00: This room, this chair, this floor, this breath.
- 23:51SPEAKER_00: The version of you who walked through all of this with you today knows something now that you didn't fully know at the start of this month.
- 24:02SPEAKER_00: Whole was never about being everything to everyone.
- 24:08SPEAKER_00: It was always about being enough exactly as you are, even when you're not available.
- 24:20SPEAKER_00: If this month's meditations have been useful to you and you'd like to go a little deeper, there are occasional bonus sessions and early access to new episodes over on Patreon.
- 24:35SPEAKER_00: Link in the show notes.
- 24:38SPEAKER_00: No pressure at all, just there if you want it.
- 24:45SPEAKER_00: And if you'd like more of these to keep landing in your feed, the simplest way to support this podcast is subscribing, leaving a review, or sending an episode to someone who might need it.
- 25:00SPEAKER_00: Every one of those genuinely helps this reach the people it's for.
