Latest / The Slippery Slope / Indigenous Voice to Parliament. I have a few concerns.
Transcript
- 0:12All right, jack Fallon. Thanks for listening to the
- 0:15slippery slope. So listen, this is been getting
- 0:19around for a wall of, kind of tried to steer.
- 0:21Clear of what's been going on in a little dubious about the whole
- 0:26topic to be honest. But today I'm going to talk a
- 0:30little bit about the voice. Obviously, we've got this
- 0:34referendum coming up to change our constitution.
- 0:40I've got a few concerns. Okay, a few concerns now 41.
- 0:45I'm just, personally, I'm not particularly sure.
- 0:48I need someone who's supposedly from my community representing
- 0:53me a look at who the voice says? These are the people that will
- 0:58represent me and I'm like, yeah, I'm a little uncomfortable with
- 1:02that. I just don't think it's my
- 1:05initial thoughts were, this is not needed.
- 1:10People have someone like Anthony Albanese e now maybe it's just
- 1:13because I'm a little cynical. Don't particularly trust the
- 1:17government that much but of Anthony Albanese e and someone
- 1:21like Lisa Wilkinson standing. In front of me, telling me, I
- 1:28need the voice. The Voice will be good for me.
- 1:31I would instinctively instinctively turn around
- 1:34because I think someone's about to come over and clap.
- 1:37Clap me in the back of the head. They tell me I need something.
- 1:41I think he I don't need it, obviously, because whatever.
- 1:44They're telling me I need, I probably need exactly the
- 1:46opposite. I have zero trust for these
- 1:49types of people. Okay.
- 1:52When someone on the left side of politics like that, you know,
- 1:58probably from the ABC or Channel, 10 is sitting there
- 2:00saying all you need this. This will be good for you as an
- 2:03indigenous Australian. I'm like, yeah, I'm waiting for
- 2:08the I'm waiting for the punch in the back of the head.
- 2:11Like I said, don't trust it but it doesn't mean you don't look
- 2:16into it and find out for yourself.
- 2:18So look, I'm just going to share with you a few of my concerns.
- 2:24Tell me what you reckon. Now, this is doesn't mean that
- 2:27I'm Completely closed off to the to the voice.
- 2:31I'm not going to talk about, you know, the Constitution, all that
- 2:35stuff. But just go through a few
- 2:37points. So, here it is.
- 2:39This is from the website voice dot gov dot.
- 2:42Are you so chapter 9 recognition of Aboriginal and Torres?
- 2:47Strait Islander peoples 129 Aboriginal and tones.
- 2:50Torres Strait Islander voice in recognition, people's, as the
- 2:55first peoples of Australia. There shall be a body to be
- 2:58called the Aboriginal Torres. Strait Islander voice, The
- 3:03Voice, May make representations to the Parliament and the
- 3:06executive government of the Commonwealth.
- 3:08Health on matters relating to Aboriginal and Torres.
- 3:12Strait Islander peoples. So just straight up, there's
- 3:18something that really concerns me, but I will keep going the
- 3:22parliament Shell subject to the Constitution have power to make
- 3:25laws, with respect to matters relating, to the average,
- 3:28Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voice, including the
- 3:32composition functions powers and procedures.
- 3:37This is what is the voice. It's a giving advice to
- 3:41Parliament and government. The voice of make
- 3:42representations to the Parliament and the executive on
- 3:45matters relating to Aboriginal and Torres.
- 3:47Strait Islander peoples. The voice would be able to make
- 3:50representations proactively. The voice would be able to
- 3:53respond to requests for representation from the
- 3:55Parliament and the executive government.
- 3:58The voice would have his own resources, the parliaments and
- 4:01executive government should seek representations in writing from
- 4:05The Voice early in the day. Development of proposed laws and
- 4:08policies. The Voice will be chosen by
- 4:11Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People based on the
- 4:14wishes of local communities. Members of The Voice would be
- 4:17selected by Aboriginal and Torres.
- 4:19Strait Islander communities. Not appointed by the executive
- 4:22members would serve on the voice for a fixed period of time to
- 4:26install a regular accountability to the communities to ensure
- 4:30cultural legitimacy the way that members of the boys would be
- 4:34chosen would suit the wishes of local communities and would be
- 4:38determined through the post referendum process.
- 4:43The voice will be representative of Aboriginal Torres Strait
- 4:46Islander communities, gender, balanced, and include youth.
- 4:51Members of The Voice would be Aboriginal and Torres Strait
- 4:54Island according to the standard three-part test.
- 5:01Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island according to the
- 5:04three-part test. you know, in this day and age, when When
- 5:10we're all looking at, we live in a society where we don't even
- 5:15know, we cannot even describe what a woman is.
- 5:19We can't all agree. This is what a woman even
- 5:22though. But thousand of you thousands of
- 5:25years, Everyone is always known. This is a woman that this is a
- 5:29man Throughout Generations, you've always had a few people
- 5:33that, you know, want to play dress-ups want to put on makeup.
- 5:39Want to do things. Want to pretend want to behave,
- 5:41like they're not but yet they still new.
- 5:45Still knew everyone stool understood that they were that
- 5:50particular biological sex generally accepted known as a
- 5:55fact that you cannot actually change sex but now we live in
- 5:59this in this era. As of about five minutes ago,
- 6:03where people do not know and they cannot describe what a
- 6:08woman is. And this is part of a bigger
- 6:12part of a bigger problem, but one issue with this nice, being
- 6:17able to understand what a woman is.
- 6:19And if you sit in the ganje, what's all this got to do with
- 6:22the indigenous issue. We twist words, we twist the
- 6:26meanings around now that you can say anything and it can mean
- 6:30whatever you. Want, I can say anything now and
- 6:36people need to accept what I say as my truth, it mightn't be
- 6:42factual but it's my truth. So when it comes to When it
- 6:49comes to this issue with with the voice I'll go back over
- 6:53water says so. The voice would make
- 6:58representations to the parliament on matters relating
- 7:01to Aboriginal and Islander, and Torres.
- 7:03Strait Islander people. So, how we gonna decide who are
- 7:08Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their
- 7:10members of The Voice would be Aboriginal and Torres.
- 7:13Strait Islander people according to the standard three-part test.
- 7:17So, what is the standard three-part test?
- 7:21If you look that up, the three-part test formulated in
- 7:24the 1980s to Herman the Aboriginal and Torres Strait all
- 7:28the states has of individuals. It requires individuals to have
- 7:33biological descent from an indigenous Australian to
- 7:37self-identify and to be accepted by the indigenous community.
- 7:43So, in other words, you I'll bring this up so you can
- 7:45actually see So, you can actually see what I'm saying
- 7:49here. Here you go.
- 7:56Individuals biological descent. So you have to have you have to
- 8:01be able to prove that you're the biological descendants of
- 8:04indigenous. People, I would suggest that we
- 8:08need to go down the road of DNA testing.
- 8:11The only partly because I've seen so many people who I know
- 8:17and not indigenous, okay? And yet they claim to be, they
- 8:21claim to be the ticker box if it's just to get free free.
- 8:26Being some kind of benefits, they'll tick that box.
- 8:29And yep. Yep, that's me.
- 8:30They got no idea. They die, they're not actually
- 8:33indigenous, they've never identified as indigenous.
- 8:36They don't even live in the community where supposedly their
- 8:39indigenous Heritage comes from. But yet they just tell you, you
- 8:42have to accept it. And then they get, they get free
- 8:45Something Free. I won't say too much because
- 8:49people get in trouble. Anyway, so I think they need to
- 8:52have DNA testing, you need to self-identify.
- 8:56Pompey in a shouldn't be as my cousin says, we now have all
- 9:00these what she calls our eyes recent identifiers.
- 9:07You know, all the all these, all these people who when they were
- 9:10kids, no one identified as being on indigenous because there was
- 9:14no benefit to it. There was no, you know, there
- 9:18was no proud badge of honor to saying that your indigenous.
- 9:24So no one claimed it. But now that's kind of the cool
- 9:26thing to do everyone claims. Yeah, I'm indigenous just found
- 9:30out last week. My great-great-great-grandfather
- 9:33was as I had someone try to tell me.
- 9:38A lady tried to tell me that her.
- 9:42Her grandfather's brother was indigenous, which so her
- 9:47great-uncle was indigenous somehow that made her
- 9:50indigenous. I tried to point out that if she
- 9:53was indigenous it would have to be her grandfather.
- 9:57And that maybe her grandfather's brother was indigenous because
- 10:02he had a different father, Which would mean that she's not
- 10:07indigenous, she couldn't see the logic in that.
- 10:11But anyway, in her little mind, she was indigenous.
- 10:15So you need to be self-identify and you need to be, this is very
- 10:19important. You need to be accepted in the
- 10:22Indigenous Community. The issue is we live in a
- 10:25society where you can say, you are absolutely anything.
- 10:29Like I said, I can grow my beard out as long and as wide as I
- 10:33can. you know, I can Put on a dress, put on a bit of makeup.
- 10:40Leave the beard. If I tell you, I am a woman.
- 10:43You have to accept that I'm a woman.
- 10:45If saying Jay, that's crazy. Obviously, just because you say,
- 10:49it doesn't mean it's true. Well, I'll remind you of this
- 10:52little I'll remind you of this little nugget here.
- 10:57I did a story on it. The other week, this is our
- 11:01current, their current Minister for women in Queensland.
- 11:06She's also now the Attorney General of Queensland Shannon
- 11:10sentiment, I'm not going to play the clip because if you listen
- 11:13to her voice it'll just make you dumber.
- 11:15Anyway, left-leaning Australian labor party member and current
- 11:19attorney general of Queensland and Minister for women.
- 11:23Shannon Fenton recently told a reporter that anyone identifying
- 11:27as a woman is a woman, She did, she attempted to defend her
- 11:34unscientific position by bringing up inclusivity as a
- 11:39social justice issue? So this is, this is the issue
- 11:44that I have. We've thumb.
- 11:49With the voice. We go back.
- 11:51The voice is making representation on behalf of
- 11:55Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
- 11:58And the voice is also having supposed Torres Strait
- 12:03Aboriginal Torres. Strait Islander, people
- 12:05representing these communities but we now live in a society
- 12:09where people can just say they are even though people can just
- 12:14say they are anything and we are all have to accept what they
- 12:18say. Now, you might say again.
- 12:19Okay, okay, so this is where societies going when it's women,
- 12:24when it's men saying that their women was women saying, their
- 12:27men, even though they're about to give birth and they sit there
- 12:30saying, well, I am a man. Well, no, you're not.
- 12:34Let's bring up something that happened in Victoria.
- 12:37This is a little while ago, but my issues is a few of these
- 12:40kinds of people getting around who say they are indigenous.
- 12:45Personally, I think they're fakes, I think they're Liars.
- 12:48Okay, if yeah, and I'm going to bring this one up because to me,
- 12:54it's obviously not true but this was This just no shame, no shame
- 13:02at all in. What this woman did bring up
- 13:05here, so you can share this one as well.
- 13:08The name Lauren. Lauren O'Dwyer, she was breaking
- 13:16trying to be an MP. Wanted to be an MP in the
- 13:19Victorian Parliament. There's here.
- 13:21If you're watching this on YouTube, whatever you can see it
- 13:24is her. They're very white, very red
- 13:27hair. I do remember when I was reading
- 13:29Captain Cook's Memoirs. He said, on page 3, how he was
- 13:32surprised, how many indigenous people in Australia?
- 13:35Were very Caucasian looking with red hair running around with
- 13:39their laptops and Spears. JK anyway so she a relative she
- 13:48claims to be your to your total woman.
- 13:51Your tea wore your to You Oughta.
- 13:52Remember three points you have to have biological sister has to
- 13:56be something in your DNA. You have to be able to prove.
- 13:59You're a direct descendant. You have to also identify.
- 14:02I would I would I would be willing to bet that no time,
- 14:08during her school years. Did she ever identify as being
- 14:13indigenous? No way when she was younger,
- 14:16when it wasn't cool to be a memory.
- 14:18Be Aboriginal I won't say Marie because that's a Queensland
- 14:22anyway when she when she was when she was in school, she
- 14:26wouldn't have said it, it wasn't cool back then but now when it
- 14:29suits her, now, now, now she's average on So and obviously and
- 14:39also she doesn't know anything about the community.
- 14:42This she's supposedly from. Let's have a little listen to
- 14:45the video that she puts out and then we'll talk about the
- 14:50article. I'm learning a lot.
- 14:53Higher labor for Richmond. I'm a lesbian single mom.
- 14:56A renter director in the Arts footage.
- 14:59Yeah, she's a lesbian single, mum, lesbian, single mom, and
- 15:03Aboriginal woman, as you can see there.
- 15:05See that. Beautiful.
- 15:08Anyway, keep going. And the crowd, You're The Other
- 15:13Woman Lauren I do iron. Agathe yada yada yada Indian
- 15:16army, Europe woman, and mother and I am the Labour candidate
- 15:20for Richmond in the upcoming state election
- 15:37because just as a further north, Earth.
- 15:41Further north the country where she's never actually been to
- 15:45every once little because there's something here.
- 15:47I think it's very important that she says is well just as our
- 15:50language here that just as their language has been stolen from
- 15:57us, as has my color hair. Color was stolen from her,
- 16:01apparently, you order your to woman and that is how we
- 16:05continue to move towards reconciliation in this graph.
- 16:09Yeah, anyway, she claims to be Original clients be indigenous.
- 16:13She's saying that her colors been stolen from her as his
- 16:16language because obviously she knows people looking at her
- 16:19saying they probably actually looking at her pants saying is
- 16:22her pants on fire because I'm pretty sure I can see some smoke
- 16:25coming out there and they because she's hot.
- 16:29So anyway, let's go through this article relative from the
- 16:33Victorian, Labour candidate who described herself as a proud you
- 16:36order. Your woman has said her family
- 16:38has no indigenous ancestry and is never 0.
- 16:41Identified as Aboriginal. So Lauren she was running for
- 16:45election. Battleground seat of Richmond
- 16:47Melbourne's in a North Because that's where all the, that's
- 16:53where all the or all the reason identifies.
- 16:57They all come from. You know, in a Melbourne in a
- 16:59Sydney Anyway, it's a whole different thing.
- 17:04So, the ABC understands Ms o. Dwyer said her indigenous
- 17:07Heritage comes from great-grandfather.
- 17:09Graham Berry however, mr. Berry's daughter.
- 17:14So they describe it as mr. Barry's daughter.
- 17:17So obviously, it's not, it's not o'dwyer's.
- 17:20Grandmother must be either, what is?
- 17:23It must be her great-aunt, by the way who daughter his
- 17:27daughter? Says, it's told the IBC her
- 17:31father was not Aboriginal, and never identified a bird as
- 17:34Aboriginal. However, further down here in
- 17:38this article, so the premier so she is obviously disputed.
- 17:44This she disputed in spot statement provided and she
- 17:48disputed the allegations saying I know who I am and I'm proud of
- 17:53my Heritage even though she's not so she's just flat out lying
- 17:57here, she is dealing with Dan Andrews.
- 17:59When asked about the issue on Monday, Dan Andrews had cultural
- 18:03identity was a complex matter and Mrs. O'Dwyer had made her
- 18:07position, clear. Now, going back to the voice,
- 18:11The Voice has what the three parts standard?
- 18:14Remember standard three parts standard.
- 18:17You have to have biological descent self-identify and be
- 18:21accepted in your community. According to Dan Andrews.
- 18:27It's a it's a complex matter. It doesn't seem that complex.
- 18:31You have to have three things that line up, three facts, that
- 18:34line up your DNA. You need to be able to prove
- 18:36biological descent need to be able to be accepted in the
- 18:39community where you say, you come from a come from the
- 18:42whitsundays. I'm accepted, I'm known I'm no
- 18:46mother's name grandma's name, great-great-grandmother's known,
- 18:50that's the way it works. Because you are what, you know,
- 18:52you are in the community. Knows what you are because they
- 18:56all accept you and they acknowledge who you are, where
- 18:59your family comes from. Indisposed to self-identify but
- 19:04then see doesn't seem that complicated.
- 19:07According to Dan Andrews cultural identified entity is a
- 19:10complex matter Lauren has made her statements and I would
- 19:15direct you to those. I'm not going to speak for her
- 19:18it's not appropriate that's the matter for her identity and
- 19:22she's been very very clear Getting back, getting back to
- 19:28the voice. Now they say they want this
- 19:31three-part standard, they say that again have representatives
- 19:35from indigenous communities and they're going to be representing
- 19:38indigenous communities putting forward.
- 19:43Putting forward representations that are good for indigenous
- 19:47communities. But we now live in a society
- 19:50where no one where people can say whatever they want and we're
- 19:55supposed to just accept it. I don't I don't like the voice
- 20:05but how about how vague it is? Anyone that you they, they may
- 20:12have their little three-part. If this is the three-part
- 20:15identifier until someone and I bought it laurentide, why?
- 20:20Because she is the most obvious, but there's plenty of people
- 20:23getting around at the moment that I see on the news.
- 20:25And you sit there, going that make you are.
- 20:27Please sit down. Please sit down.
- 20:30You Just a pretender. You are just a pretender, you
- 20:35can sit back and look and say, well, yeah, about ten
- 20:38Generations ago, we think this person might have been
- 20:43indigenous. So that makes me Aboriginal.
- 20:46I'm the original Aboriginal, sorry, it doesn't. however, In
- 20:54this current environment. If you say that your Aboriginal,
- 20:58if you say your tire Strait Islander Everyone else is
- 21:02supposed to just accept it. Regardless of this three-point
- 21:07identifier will have people like Dan Andrews standing up and
- 21:10saying, well, it's a complex issue.
- 21:12They've said that that's what they are.
- 21:14We just need to accept it and the voice will end up getting
- 21:18hijacked. Can I just say something about
- 21:22this Lauren? I would Y and other people
- 21:24getting around on the news that stating their indigenous when
- 21:29obviously they aren't. I worked in communities a lot
- 21:33more intolerant than the area that on from, okay?
- 21:40And if you were up there, Flora no Dwyer was in some of these
- 21:43other communities indigenous communities and swarmed around
- 21:47saying that she Is a proud your to your to woman, you know, look
- 21:52at me she would get a spear in the leg and rightly deserved.
- 21:59I don't like the voice because of its how vague it is in its
- 22:04descriptions. That's just part of it, part of
- 22:07the issue. We're describing these
- 22:09indigenous, you know, who was representing and it's
- 22:12representing indigenous people. It's It's just way too vague.
- 22:17I don't like it. I don't particularly think we
- 22:22need it. I don't want someone like
- 22:25Olivia. Thorpe representing me.
- 22:28It's one thing to have them, you know, getting voted in coming
- 22:35out and saying, well yeah, I'm going to represent the community
- 22:38of the whitsundays and running for election and getting voted
- 22:41in. These people aren't going to be
- 22:44voted in, there's going to be put forward by the community,
- 22:47you're going to have some families in some communities
- 22:50that are going to be able to control who the representatives
- 22:53are, because they are the biggest families in that area.
- 22:59I don't like it. It's too vague.
- 23:02I think it'll be open to corruption.
- 23:05And I, as I said, I don't want people, like Lydia Thor, boar.
- 23:11Or heaven forbid. What's the name Lauren?
- 23:17I'd wire the the the very pale redheaded.
- 23:22Black woman representing me saying.
- 23:25Yeah, I represent. I represent those people from
- 23:27the whitsundays. Look at me.
- 23:30No. Don't like it.
- 23:32Not going to vote for it. That's just my opinion, but It's
- 23:39a no for me just just from a just from a brief.
- 23:43Look through too many issues. That's my opinion.
- 23:47Thanks for listening to the slippery slope.
