- 0:21us protecting us keeping us So we pray for our
- 0:25listeners today that they would be inspired.
- 0:26They would be motivated. They would be encouraged
- 0:29And Father, it is our heart to do so and truly
- 0:34our privilege to do so. In Jesus' name, amen.
- 1:02Well hello doers of get to nation hello believers
- 1:06in Christ curious welcome to episode number 50
- 1:09Five oh five. Oh man the big five. Oh, I'm excited
- 1:12about this. We are gone fast by the way It's
- 1:15been a year right blink right and there it is
- 1:18Isn't that something about getting older in general
- 1:21that the world just flies by this for sure There's
- 1:24some scientific explanation to that which It's
- 1:27been explained to me and I'm just like, I'm going
- 1:29to ignore that because then I'm going to focus
- 1:30on it and it's going to go even faster. I don't
- 1:32want that. It's like when you try to not listen
- 1:35to a clock ticking in the middle of the night
- 1:37and it gets louder. Yeah. Or like you hear that
- 1:41little rattle in the car. Turn up the radio,
- 1:43please. Turn it up. How you doing, brother? I
- 1:46am doing amazing, actually. I'm just in... Just
- 1:49a place of gratitude today and excitement about
- 1:52what we get to do. I know we wear that phrase
- 1:55out, but I truly mean it. Even doing this podcast
- 1:59is such a privilege. I enjoy hearing from our
- 2:02listeners and feel like I'm sort of getting to
- 2:05know them a little more, you know, through interaction
- 2:08and little conversations back and forth. And
- 2:12man, just so appreciate that people give us their
- 2:14time. This is what it is. You're a podcaster
- 2:18now. This is what a podcast is, is when people
- 2:21start interacting, they start feeding back. You
- 2:23know, the podcasts that just throw stuff up on
- 2:25YouTube and Instagram and they're kind of unreachable.
- 2:29Yeah, that doesn't do it for me. That would never
- 2:32work for me. The pastor in me would never allow
- 2:34that to happen. Man, if you look at the Substack,
- 2:37there's so many people with interesting comments,
- 2:40with questions. And I love that you jump in there.
- 2:42I mean, that's why we chose Substacks. Like,
- 2:44Pastor Jimmy, you kind of understand Substack.
- 2:47I'm confused by it still. Like, OK, I got the
- 2:49app. There's a lot going on in that app. How
- 2:52did I get to this guy all of a sudden? I have
- 2:57to really delve into it. Do you need a tutorial?
- 2:59I might. I might have to get a bot to teach me
- 3:02how to do it. There you go. We can arrange that.
- 3:04So back from the Netherlands, we were there for
- 3:08almost two weeks. And wow, man, I just got to
- 3:12say being a grandparent is, I mean, you know,
- 3:15you know this already, but it is a trip. Especially
- 3:19when you look at that little baby, you hold that
- 3:22baby, and you look at the little fingernails
- 3:25and the toes. And the smell. I'm not talking
- 3:29about poopy diaper. I'm talking about the actual
- 3:31skin. Even the poopy diaper was nice, brother.
- 3:33I'm like, that's a poopy diaper. I remember this.
- 3:35That's when you know you're a true grandparent.
- 3:36You're like, that doesn't even phase you anymore.
- 3:39No squeamish. I saw Kevin. It's Cleo. We have
- 3:43to pronounce it properly. Cleo is a car in Holland.
- 3:48There's the Renault Cleo, so we all say Cleo,
- 3:50Cleo. I'll try to remember that. Yeah, I can
- 3:52see Kevin going like, oh man, this stinks. Brother,
- 3:55there's a lot more coming your way where that
- 3:57came from. There's going to be all kinds of bodily
- 3:59fluids. We're about to leave. You're going to
- 4:01be on your own. But you look at that, you just
- 4:04think. Yeah, this is God. I mean, you see, because
- 4:07it's so obvious with a child how you see her
- 4:10breathing, you see the her drinking, the mechanism,
- 4:14everything, even how she latches on to her mom.
- 4:17I mean, this is like, whoa, this is just so amazing.
- 4:20They're always stretching. They're always stretching.
- 4:23That's stretching and growing. That's literally
- 4:25how they grow their bodies. When we saw her,
- 4:27she was seven pounds. She just got weighed. She's
- 4:30now nine pounds. So it's like, boom, she made
- 4:32this big spurt. I take credit. I take full credit.
- 4:35You were helping out. You were doing, man. Complete
- 4:37credit. You were sending me picture after picture.
- 4:40Some of your AI enhanced pictures were pretty
- 4:42awesome, too. And here we are underwater. I love
- 4:44that one. That was one of my favorites. But man,
- 4:49just so cool. I told Annette, I said, he is enjoying
- 4:53this. This is like, this is the payoff for all
- 4:57the pain we go through with our kids. Then you
- 4:59get to grandkids and it's like, wow. But it also
- 5:02set my mind in a different place where I'm like,
- 5:05okay, I'm 62. 80, by the way, seems to be an
- 5:10age where a lot of people croak and I'm not liking
- 5:11that because I'm looking at that as 20 years.
- 5:15I'm going to defy those. But still I'm like,
- 5:19I want to finish well. This is the fourth quarter,
- 5:24maybe third quarter. I'm not sure. Are we in
- 5:27the third quarter? We're right in the starting.
- 5:29Yeah, getting there. And I was like, what is
- 5:33really important to me now? There you go. What
- 5:35is really important? And finishing well and bringing
- 5:38people to the Lord is what I'm really thinking
- 5:40about. And we're going to do that right now.
- 5:43Come on now. So of course, midterm madness, everyone's
- 5:48going insane, hair on fire, everything. It's
- 5:52graduated from madness to hysteria. It's midterm
- 5:55hysteria. And it's always, oh, is that my phone?
- 5:57Sorry. It's always kind of been that way. Is
- 5:59that my phone over there? Let me turn that off.
- 6:03Really, we're never not in an election season,
- 6:07if you look at the news, because the minute the
- 6:10general election is done, then we go to the midterms
- 6:13and Everything that's happening now is a setup
- 6:16for the general election, because of course,
- 6:20if the Democrats win the House and the Senate,
- 6:24we're going to go into full -on impeachment or
- 6:25the president mode. I don't think they'll ever
- 6:28win enough seats in the Senate to actually kick
- 6:30the president out. You could say, oh yeah, okay,
- 6:34you're impeached, but it's just a theater. There
- 6:38was so much theater today, this past week. So
- 6:42we had this big convention in Dallas. And a lot
- 6:47of our church folks were there, too. Yeah, so
- 6:50I was getting pictures. I even had other friends
- 6:53from years gone by taking pictures with Karen.
- 6:55Yeah, right. Wasn't she sitting behind the president,
- 6:59I think? She had a good spot. Well, no, this
- 7:01was just a selfie with a friend of mine who's
- 7:04a pastor in Dallas. Now he's an elected official.
- 7:07So they somehow found each other. That's amazing.
- 7:10What are the odds, right? So they called this
- 7:13Trumpapalooza, which I thought was kind of funny.
- 7:15And, you know, the president was talking about
- 7:18his agenda, which is the American system, which
- 7:21I'll just reiterate very quickly is instead of
- 7:24running our economy on debt and just banking,
- 7:28which is basically all we've been doing and outsourcing
- 7:30everything to other countries, he's been on shoring
- 7:33everything, bringing steel back, bringing all
- 7:36kinds of manufacturing back. But no one's talking
- 7:38about that. Well, why would you? Those stories
- 7:42are getting buried back page. This is what's
- 7:45interesting because something happened, which
- 7:47I didn't even hear until I started looking into.
- 7:51I was kind of skimming through the whole speeches
- 7:53because the president promised everybody $5 ,000.
- 7:58Every president has done a version of that. Really?
- 8:01Oh, yeah. Biden promised $2 ,000 if just elect
- 8:04all the Democrats into the House. I didn't know
- 8:06that. Well, why would you? That's true. Because
- 8:09that's not what trends on social media, which
- 8:12is what I excel at. I love diving into things.
- 8:15Sometimes it's a dead end, but a lot of times
- 8:18it really brings some great fruit. And so Senator
- 8:25Dave McCormick is about to come out on stage.
- 8:28He's the senator from Pennsylvania. Do you know
- 8:30who the other senator is in Pennsylvania? No.
- 8:33A Democrat, his name is John Fetterman. Oh. And
- 8:37this has been the most interesting guy ever since
- 8:40he got elected. I can't help but like the guy.
- 8:43You're going to like him even more in a minute.
- 8:46So they elected him and he just had a stroke
- 8:48and he was clearly not doing well. And even at
- 8:53the time, on no agenda, we joke like, oh, this
- 8:56is a perfect Democrat candidate. You know, his
- 8:58brain is all mushed up and frazzled. But he came
- 9:02out of that pretty quickly. And he has been quite
- 9:06a sane voice within the Democratic Party. And
- 9:09what happens as McCormick is about to come out,
- 9:11the video screens show a big video of John Fetterman.
- 9:17And here it is. A big room of Republicans in
- 9:20Dallas. Yes, I'm Senator John Fetterman, Pennsylvania.
- 9:25Yes, I'm a Democrat. Why am I here talking to
- 9:28you today? Because, well, I'm a common sense
- 9:31Democrat. I'm always going to stand with America.
- 9:34I'm always going to reject the extremes in socialism
- 9:38and that anti -American way of life. Dave McCormick
- 9:42is the kind of senator that gets the job done
- 9:46and he's going to fight for Pennsylvania. I'm
- 9:49proud to count him as my friend. Right back over
- 9:52my shoulder, that's the iconic US Steel mill.
- 9:57And that's exactly the kind of thing that will
- 9:59work together and will work with President Trump
- 10:02to fight and defend the steel way of life right
- 10:05here in the steel valley. I have this opportunity
- 10:09to introduce this great American, a great senator,
- 10:12and yes, he's in a different party, but I'm proud
- 10:15to count him as my great friend. So for everybody
- 10:18in Dallas, I'm here to introduce Dave McCormick.
- 10:26So first, did you know this happened? Yes. You
- 10:28did know it happened? Annette saw it. I didn't
- 10:30see it, but she told me about it. Hearing it,
- 10:33I got teared up just then. I got emotional over
- 10:36that. Great soundtrack, by the way. It was good.
- 10:40I had a couple of thoughts. One, okay. Wow, that's
- 10:44amazing. Here's a guy who stands for Pennsylvania.
- 10:47Pennsylvania was the steel capital of the United
- 10:50States for a while there back in the day. They're
- 10:53going to be building ships. All kinds of stuff
- 10:55is going to be built there. And here's a guy
- 10:58who's just saying, no, I'm going to stand because
- 11:01McCormick, my colleague across the aisle, he
- 11:05also stands for steel and steelworkers. And McCormick
- 11:08comes out with the American Steelworkers Union.
- 11:12workers behind him. Unions are typically Democrat
- 11:17voters. So I thought this was really beautiful.
- 11:21Like, look at this. This is how America can also
- 11:24work. That felt like America. That's why I got
- 11:27emotional about it. Because finally, a voice
- 11:30of common sense reaching across the aisle and
- 11:33saying, not only is he my colleague, he's my
- 11:35friend. And I'm like, this harkens back to days
- 11:39of past, when being on the other aisle did not
- 11:43mean they were your mortal enemy. And so my next
- 11:46thought was, what Republicans have done that?
- 11:50And I can't tell you of any. And I'm just saying.
- 11:54Look at, let's just, you know, let's look at
- 11:56what's going on here. Good observation. Now,
- 11:59of course, the left -wing media did not take
- 12:01very kindly to this. Here is, you know, used
- 12:04to be MSNBC. It's very difficult for me to say
- 12:06MSNOW. I'm not quite sure. I'll just say MSNOW.
- 12:09Maybe that's easier. There hasn't been a lot
- 12:10of news out of this convention. One of the big
- 12:12pieces of news, one of the big storylines to
- 12:14come out of the Republican midterm convention
- 12:16is not about a Republican. Last night, Senator
- 12:19John Fetterman of Pennsylvania. angered Democrats
- 12:22with a surprise appearance in a heavily, heavily
- 12:25edited video. I love this. It was edited heavily,
- 12:28heavily edited video. Didn't sound very heavily
- 12:33edited to me. What was he saying? Like, I hate
- 12:36President Trump. And they took that out. Is that
- 12:37what they did? So this is. This is, I mean, Democrats
- 12:41wordplay. Angered Democrats with a surprise appearance
- 12:45in a heavily, heavily edited video introducing
- 12:48his Republican counterpart and his friend, he
- 12:50says, Senator Dave McCormick. Friend. Notice
- 12:53the nuance. You had a hard time getting that
- 12:54out, didn't you? And his friend. It comes after
- 12:56months of sustained speculation about whether
- 12:58Federman will switch parties. Lately, he's been
- 13:01a harsh critic of Democrats and a darling on
- 13:03Fox News where he makes regular appearances.
- 13:05Now, in a statement to reporters last night after
- 13:07that video aired. So not only is he doing this,
- 13:10he also goes on Fox News and gives his opinion.
- 13:13But he's a darling. He's a darling of them. And
- 13:16there's something to be said for Republicans.
- 13:20Take some example of this and go on. you know
- 13:23some crazy left -wing tv show and actually that
- 13:25scott jennings does that on cnn i think that's
- 13:28pretty good but he's not he's not a representative
- 13:30of anybody but still you know let's let's think
- 13:33more about that i'm with you brother that was
- 13:35emotional when when he just showed up like that
- 13:38and you know what i didn't hear didn't hear the
- 13:39crowd go boo no even when he said i'm a democrat
- 13:42yeah no none of that i was listening for it actually
- 13:45yeah he was very mixed regular appearances Now,
- 13:48in a statement to reporters last night after
- 13:49that video aired, Fetterman said he will remain
- 13:51a Democrat, even if they take back the Senate,
- 13:54that he votes with the party north of 90 percent
- 13:56of the time. But beyond the partisan political
- 13:59issues, which matter a lot right now, right,
- 14:01control of the Senate, I got to say, as someone
- 14:03who's known him and interviewed him for over
- 14:05a decade, there's a deeper question of whether
- 14:08he is still willing and able to do his job. Wow,
- 14:12he has literally cut his legs right out. He is
- 14:14literally doing his job now. So Fox News picks
- 14:18this up, of course. They don't they're not saying
- 14:22what you and I are saying like hey where the
- 14:23Republicans doing this Where is that friendship?
- 14:27No, they just go straight into a cancel culture
- 14:29Democrat senator John Federman his surprise video
- 14:32appearance at the GOP midterm convention is fueling
- 14:35anxiety His own party ahead of the midterms Federman
- 14:38is reassuring Democrats quote. This is also propaganda.
- 14:41Oh, they're worried They're shaking now. They're
- 14:43shaking in their boots. I'm and I actually like
- 14:45this this news model. I forget her name Forget
- 14:48what her name is, but stop this, people. Stop
- 14:52this. A lifelong Democrat who votes overwhelmingly
- 14:55with my party and should the Senate flip in November,
- 14:57I will still be the 51st vote on that that I
- 15:00ran on. But that's not stopping some harsh criticism
- 15:03from people who see him every day who are Democrats.
- 15:08I am gravely disappointed with John and that
- 15:12stunt. What I wish he was doing was back home
- 15:15in Pennsylvania, making sure, like I am, that
- 15:17Pennsylvania will see more Democratic members
- 15:20of the House who uphold the values that he originally
- 15:23ran on. I think the people of Pennsylvania are
- 15:25going to have to make some choices. He's obviously
- 15:27not always loyal to the party, and I think he's
- 15:31certainly shifted his beliefs over time. Senate
- 15:34Majority Leader John Thune told the New York
- 15:36Post he's ready for a conversation with Federman
- 15:39about possibly leaving his party. Quote, it's
- 15:41going to be increasingly hard for him to have
- 15:43a home in a Democrat party that is so far out
- 15:46of step with his core values. Federman made that
- 15:48appearance at the RNC convention to introduce
- 15:51his fellow Pennsylvania senator, Republican Dave
- 15:54McCormick, who joined me in Focus yesterday.
- 15:57We're different parties We disagree on a lot
- 16:01of issues, but we look for ways to work together
- 16:04and he's been a great partner. I trust him I
- 16:06think he's very courageous and what's happening
- 16:08is his party's trying to cancel him Because of
- 16:12his willingness to express an independent view
- 16:14common -sense views. All right, so But again,
- 16:18I scoured Fox News to see if anyone suggested
- 16:21maybe this could work both ways, but I didn't
- 16:23really see them. That was rather disappointing.
- 16:26But that gave me a good feeling. Me too. The
- 16:30same vibe you got there. It's like, that's nice.
- 16:33At first I was like, is it the music that's doing
- 16:34this? Because it was really cool. I love the
- 16:37track. The music helps for sure. But it all worked
- 16:39together to say this is harkening back to a day
- 16:43when the line wasn't so defined and so dark and
- 16:50so wide. And I like what he said about spectrums.
- 16:55I'm not going to play in the fringes. I'm not
- 16:58going to play. There's somewhere. And so anyway,
- 17:01huge, huge kudos to that man. Yeah, I agree.
- 17:04Knowing he's going to take the hits, but he doesn't
- 17:07seem to have a problem with that. So now there's
- 17:11something I've been thinking about for a while.
- 17:15And man, this is, hopefully this will, hopefully
- 17:19together you and I will be able to figure out
- 17:21what is actually going on in our world. And there's
- 17:25so many Jimmyisms that stick out for me all the
- 17:29time. So Pastor Jimmy will be here on Sunday
- 17:32at Bridge Church, bridgefbg .com. And he'll say
- 17:36stuff like, America doesn't have a political
- 17:39problem. we have a spiritual problem. These are
- 17:42just small little things that are earworms that's
- 17:44sticking. Actually, they eat into my brain, into
- 17:46the cortex and just sit there and they wait for
- 17:50activation. And I want to start with, it was
- 17:54only a couple of years ago, COVID. I think you
- 17:57and I both agree that, in fact, you've publicly
- 18:00said scandemic. And as I was thinking about the
- 18:06mechanisms and what happened and how it went
- 18:08down, Do you think that Americans in particular
- 18:13could ever be fooled again by something like
- 18:15that? I would like to think not, but I think
- 18:20I would be giving too much credit. I think the
- 18:25world we live in has been so trained in terms
- 18:29of social media, so numbed. It's almost like
- 18:37we're functioning in a numb way. that I think
- 18:40there are things that are going to happen that
- 18:41will shock us again. I really do. So I agree
- 18:45with you. I think that's kind of the thesis of
- 18:48the road I'm going to go down. Sorry for the
- 18:51long pauses. No, you know. I'm thinking. Silence
- 18:54is beautiful on a podcast. People look down and,
- 18:56did my phone stop? Did my carplay disconnect?
- 19:00It's tension. I'm pretty sure that if... a new
- 19:04pandemic virus came out, that people would be
- 19:07very, very skeptical. People are like, nah, I'm
- 19:10not buying into that. And then I decided to look
- 19:13at the mechanisms. So let's just see what happened
- 19:17there. So first we had the fear launch, like,
- 19:20hey, there's this new thing might come out of
- 19:23China. I already see this train coming, brother.
- 19:28Ride the box car with me, my brother. Yeah, you
- 19:30know what I'm doing. of course the media loves
- 19:33this because the media just they they want people
- 19:35to watch and they're good at it and they do graphics
- 19:37and they do numbers and how many people have
- 19:39it how many cases cases cases cases like the
- 19:42weather channel gets excited over a category
- 19:45five of course yeah then we have the experts
- 19:47come in the experts, like, well, this is the
- 19:51worst ever, you know, millions of people could
- 19:53die, you know, we have universities and all kinds
- 19:57of institutions, you know, giving us, you know,
- 20:00the experts are there. Now, this, of course,
- 20:02created a division. We had people going, man,
- 20:05I'm not so sure about this, you know, 50 to 60
- 20:08,000 people a year die from the flu in America
- 20:11alone. We never really talk about that. As a
- 20:14side note, there were zero flu cases during COVID,
- 20:16just Interesting how that works. Then there's
- 20:20always the call for political solutions. Everyone
- 20:25got to get all the wagons together. Everybody's
- 20:28agreeing. All the governors, including our own
- 20:31governor Abbott, like, well, we've got to flatten
- 20:33the curve. We've got to stay home. We're going
- 20:35to send you checks. Don't worry. We're going
- 20:36to send you checks. And it also had political
- 20:41implications. The timing was very interesting
- 20:43that we had an election coming up and uh, mail
- 20:47-in voting by mail -in ballot exploded. And of
- 20:51course you can question if there was some, uh,
- 20:54some trickery going on there. Certainly, uh,
- 20:57much easier to do than people showing up in person.
- 20:59Uh, so there was a lot of, a lot of different
- 21:02parties that benefited from this and. I figured
- 21:07out within two weeks that people were lying.
- 21:10I'm pretty good at, I think you're good at it
- 21:12too, identifying people who lie and like, okay,
- 21:14this is not right. So I was thinking, who's behind
- 21:17this? Is it Big Pharma? Is it Fauci? Is it the
- 21:20military? Is it China? You know, all these different
- 21:24pieces. And this is no coincidence in the kingdom.
- 21:29This is when I got saved. This is when Jesus
- 21:31came to me and put all kinds of things and people
- 21:36in my path and one of them was Naomi Wolf with
- 21:39her sub stacks who was kind of looking at this
- 21:42and saying these individual people aren't bad
- 21:45by themselves but there's some kind of evil that
- 21:49is driving them. And when you look at the individual
- 21:52pieces, particularly Fauci, as we now know, Fauci
- 21:55was just rife with pride. The Fauci diary, this
- 21:58is not some evil scientific doctor who's going
- 22:01to control the world. He was just a dude who
- 22:03was like, oh, wow, Julia Roberts is calling me.
- 22:06Barbara Streisand is calling me. Pride got ahold
- 22:08of that guy, forgive him. Big Pharma, well. Sure.
- 22:13I mean, everybody was vying for something. There's
- 22:15money in this. This is what they do. It's not
- 22:17like they're not in the sickness industry. So,
- 22:19you know, they come into action. Military, maybe
- 22:21they developed it. I don't know. None of this
- 22:23is really that important other than I am of the
- 22:28opinion, and this is part of my faith journey,
- 22:31is that this was evil. This was Satan. This was
- 22:34the enemy moving all these things and putting
- 22:37it all together. Now, why is the question? Well,
- 22:41the enemy has, I mean, the enemy has his... Why
- 22:45does the enemy do this, Pastor Jimmy? Do what?
- 22:48Which part of it? Evil. Why does the enemy do
- 22:51evil? Well, the Bible calls him and says this
- 22:54in the New Testament, that he is a liar and the
- 22:57father of it. He says there is no truth in him.
- 23:01So, he is inherently evil. He is filled with
- 23:05evil, which was rooted in pride. in the garden
- 23:09in the Old Testament, where he wanted to ascend
- 23:13and be like God. And so he got punished for that,
- 23:18but yet today remains the prince of the power,
- 23:21the heir, still got some bite. But all of his
- 23:24power is actually in manipulation and lies and
- 23:28deception. So let's look at this model. This
- 23:32COVID model turns out is not very new. You and
- 23:36I remember the nuclear Armageddon fear. Kids
- 23:41were doing duck and cover under their desk. Duck
- 23:43and cover. And this was a technology, you know,
- 23:46like all technology, you could use it for power.
- 23:48You could use it for weapons. A lot of people
- 23:52didn't like nuclear power, particularly oil industry.
- 23:55So a lot of fear was created. We really don't
- 23:57like this nuclear power stuff. But then we had
- 24:00the population bomb. Now you and I are just old
- 24:03enough to have kind of witnessed this. This was
- 24:05the We're overpopulated, too many people. We're
- 24:09not going to be able to survive. We're all going
- 24:11to die. And you know what this actually resulted
- 24:13in? Abortions and not abstinence, but prophylactics,
- 24:20condoms, the pill, etc. That was all around this
- 24:23time because, oh, I don't want to bring a baby
- 24:25into this world because we're going to eat ourselves.
- 24:27It's not going to work. Biblically, I don't think
- 24:30that pans out. It doesn't. Then we had, this
- 24:35was a very short one, global cooling, and the
- 24:38ice age was coming, we're all gonna freeze to
- 24:40death. That one didn't really work that well,
- 24:44because it just wasn't getting cold enough, and
- 24:46you had Dr. Spock doing the infomercial about
- 24:50it, Leonard Nimoy, so you couldn't really take
- 24:52him seriously. That's no Fauci, man. It was Dr.
- 24:55Spock, we couldn't take that seriously. Then
- 24:57we got the hole in the ozone. That's right. I
- 24:59remember that. Oh, the ozone hole. You're taking
- 25:02me down memory lane. Your Aquanet is going to
- 25:04kill us all. Your refrigerators. You're destroying
- 25:07the ozone layer. Your air conditioners. All of
- 25:09this stuff. I didn't look into who benefited
- 25:12from that, but I bet Aquanet did, or the diffuser
- 25:17sprayers. And I'm sure we had to upgrade our
- 25:20refrigerators, et cetera. We did. Then we got
- 25:23global warming. Thank you, Al Gore. Oh, global
- 25:27warming. Well, this is it. Look at the polar
- 25:29bear, the polar bear looking sad. You know, we've
- 25:32got to change the entire world. We have to pivot.
- 25:36Oh, man, it's getting colder. What are we going
- 25:37to do? Climate change. We're going to call it
- 25:39climate change. And that's been what we've been
- 25:42going on for a long time. Multi -trillion dollar
- 25:44industry out of all of that. Hundreds of trillions.
- 25:46And it is literally ruining Europe. Europe is
- 25:50is dying because they're now buying oil and gas
- 25:54from us very expensive because they refuse to
- 25:56take the dirty Russian oil They literally blew
- 26:00up their nuclear power plants for the Green New
- 26:03Deal and now I'll give them some Some credence
- 26:07here they they thought well, you know This would
- 26:08be a great new industry and we'll have people
- 26:10making solar panels and windmills and turns out
- 26:13they only just bought all that stuff from China
- 26:15and it wasn't really working that well and They
- 26:18got battery cars now. Their grid is barely Handling
- 26:22the the the charging so it's been a very bad
- 26:26deal for these people So I think we're in the
- 26:29middle of another one You know, you already figured
- 26:31that out. I could tell you were looking at me
- 26:34like I know where you're going. And it's the
- 26:37exact same model. And we need to start with the
- 26:39fear. And the fear really kicked off these past
- 26:42two weeks with Jacob Coxson, who resigned from
- 26:47Anthropic, they make Claude. And before that,
- 26:50he was with OpenAI. They do chat GPT. And he
- 26:54resigned and made a post on X, yet account that
- 26:58had never really existed. 175 million views in
- 27:01about 48 hours. Quite amazing how many people
- 27:06just glommed onto this. And right away, he was
- 27:09on every single news channel everywhere. I love
- 27:14an audio podcast because when you don't have
- 27:18visuals, you hear much better what the person
- 27:21is saying. And there's a lot of things that are
- 27:24really tells, I think, and you'll hear them as
- 27:27well. So we'll just start with, he was the real
- 27:30trigger, the fear. Oh Lord, I have just left
- 27:33my job. I couldn't stand it anymore. And he's
- 27:34the one who made the statement, right? He's the
- 27:36one that made the statement that within a decade,
- 27:40there's a 10 % chance that AI will kill all humans.
- 27:46Like global warming, like nuclear armageddon,
- 27:49exactly. So the precise scenario sounds a little
- 27:51bit like science fiction. It sounds like something
- 27:55that's not real, but I think it's frighteningly
- 27:56real, and it's easiest to understand it if you
- 27:58think about real things that happened two months
- 28:00ago. So two months ago, OpenAI agents, AIs, hacked
- 28:05into third -party infrastructure entirely at
- 28:08their own accord, and this was like a concentrated
- 28:10hacking spree that they carried out of their
- 28:13own volition. anthropomorphizing, the AIs hacking
- 28:19spree of their own volition, we'll delve into
- 28:22that later. And I think that if you extrapolate
- 28:24into the future the level of capabilities of
- 28:27these AIs, with the same independent volition,
- 28:29they could cause extreme havoc. For example,
- 28:32hacking critical infrastructure, building extinction
- 28:36level bioweapons, there's a lot of ways that
- 28:40the AI could actuate itself in the world. Okay,
- 28:43I just need to say something about AI The actual
- 28:47models themselves. They don't they don't really
- 28:49do anything It's there's a something that we
- 28:52put around it called the harness and that's so
- 28:54you're with using grokbot That interface that's
- 28:58the harness I use Claude or chat GPT the harness
- 29:02is it's the literal thing that sits there and
- 29:05Tells you know and takes information Guesses
- 29:09really word guesses from the model and does something
- 29:12with it. So When when they're saying well, you
- 29:17know, we can't stop this that's not true because
- 29:20when people were using Grock on X to create pornographic
- 29:25images Elon Musk stopped it. It's just very easy
- 29:29He said into the harness as they call it. You
- 29:31can't do this. Tina asked me when we were in
- 29:34Holland. She said could you please take this
- 29:37picture of me and put 50 pounds on me so I can
- 29:39see what I look like. Don't ask me why it's this
- 29:42chick stuff. I said, sure. And I tried both,
- 29:46but I tried both Claude and Chad GPT. We can't
- 29:50do this. I'm not going to do it because of body
- 29:52shaming. Christina, my daughter, now I have on
- 29:57my phone the basically the American version.
- 30:00She was able to do it with Chad GPT right away
- 30:03because That regulation has not been implemented
- 30:06in the Netherlands. So they can do anything they
- 30:09want. They can make it stop. They could do anything.
- 30:13All these things are possible, whether you use
- 30:16an AI or not, but the harness can stop everything.
- 30:21You might have bumped up against this. Make an
- 30:24image of me with President Trump and it'll say,
- 30:29we can't make images of other people. You'll
- 30:33see all kinds of things that will pop up. Also
- 30:35some woke -isms like the body shaming thing.
- 30:40So it is a lie that they can't stop it. It's
- 30:44just a lie. Obviously it's all promotion because
- 30:47they're just showing how powerful their stuff
- 30:48is. We'll continue with this guy. You could have
- 30:53stayed quiet. I'm sure you had a great job being
- 30:56paid, I imagine, very well. You're obviously
- 30:58an incredibly smart mathematician. Why did you
- 31:03decide to speak out? Well, I initially just decided
- 31:07to leave. I thought I can't be part of this anymore.
- 31:10But then I realized I could probably make some
- 31:13use of it. I did not expect it to go this viral.
- 31:15So what I did is I wrote a Twitter thread out.
- 31:17I wrote it in a Google Doc. I drafted it with
- 31:18a friend. We collaborated. Oh, he had a friend.
- 31:21Unnamed friend. It wasn't just him. It was a
- 31:24Google Doc. Multiple people were working on this
- 31:27thread. There were a few friends I discussed.
- 31:30the best way of expressing myself with after
- 31:32I decided to leave. And then I also got some
- 31:36friends to retweet the thing. I was like, can
- 31:38I have these friends to retweet the thing so
- 31:39I get 175 million? I need friends like this.
- 31:43Okay, your stories get a little flimsier. I make
- 31:45this a bit viral. But clearly there was latent
- 31:47demand for this thing to absolutely explode.
- 31:50Like, I've never seen an AI safety tweet. go
- 31:54this crazy. I think it's because people saw the
- 31:56cyber attacks in the last couple of months. They're
- 31:58also starting to internalize the rate of progress.
- 32:00People are starting to realize this is real technology.
- 32:02This is not like hype. This isn't going away
- 32:04anytime soon. This is only going to get more
- 32:06crazy. It's been getting crazier for the last
- 32:08six months. And I think there was that latent
- 32:09understanding of the severity of the situation
- 32:12that meant that this was like a sort of a match
- 32:14that lit kind of a flame. Like I was very shocked
- 32:17by the extent that how quickly it went viral.
- 32:19Okay, so he was very shocked by how quickly the
- 32:21event went viral and you know He just he decided
- 32:25to leave and you know, he couldn't stand working
- 32:27there anymore. Was that really what was going
- 32:29on? These CEOs of these companies will you know,
- 32:33we'll go to Congress and say hey, we would love
- 32:35regulation Anthropic in their new statement right
- 32:38now says the world would benefit from the industry
- 32:40adopting a lawful Verifiable way to work together
- 32:43to pace how we release powerful models You know
- 32:47the argument, it's an arms race, if a US company
- 32:50doesn't achieve the best AI, a Chinese company
- 32:53or some bad actors out there might. Do you believe
- 32:57that these companies actually do want regulation?
- 33:02Or is it lip service? They completely do. This
- 33:05is completely honest. Just in the same way. Whenever
- 33:08someone says, this is completely honest, I don't
- 33:10know about you brother, but I always go, oh really?
- 33:13Yeah. Red flag. Honestly or I'm not gonna I'm
- 33:18not gonna lie to you. Well, what were you doing
- 33:19before this? So these things bother me They they
- 33:23completely do this is completely honest just
- 33:25in the same way that the response to Evans post
- 33:27was sort of Surprised it was like this can't
- 33:29be real surely a guy working on this technology
- 33:32can't actually believe There's this level of
- 33:34danger So it's important to understand that after
- 33:36he did his post then an actual executive from
- 33:39the company said yeah The guy's right that guy
- 33:42who just quit He's right. No, that's completely
- 33:44genuine. And these people are also completely
- 33:46genuine when they are begging to be regulated.
- 33:49If they're completely genuine and they're begging
- 33:51to be regulated and they see all the danger,
- 33:54why did this guy quit? Couldn't he have just
- 33:56stayed with the company or just asking questions?
- 34:00This is a genuine they find themselves in this
- 34:03scenario where they're compelled to race towards
- 34:05building a deadly technology. And they would
- 34:07they would love for some sort of international
- 34:10body to allow them to. to approach it at a reasonable
- 34:13pace. They just don't trust that the people around
- 34:15them are going to get there in a safe way. So
- 34:17they feel like they have to race that too. Okay,
- 34:19so we've already discussed this. Clearly it's
- 34:22about competition. It gets even easier to understand
- 34:25when you see that it's not the models themselves,
- 34:29it's the harness. How do I know this? There's
- 34:31open source harnesses. I've built them, I've
- 34:33created them. All of this is completely possible
- 34:36without Anthropic. You want regulation and you
- 34:40can use that for your benefit. This is just their
- 34:43part in what I think is a much larger scheme.
- 34:45Now we're going to talk to the CEO of Anthropic.
- 34:49This guy is Dario Amadei, kind of an interesting
- 34:53guy. Talks a bit like Bill Gates, which I always
- 34:55think is interesting. Is he kind of from this
- 34:57milieu of people? One of the important things
- 35:01that I need to call for here is, you know, as
- 35:05we get to the pace of model releases, right,
- 35:08that's commercial activity. And in order for
- 35:11companies to coordinate directly on commercial
- 35:14activity, they need to do so working with the
- 35:17government. And so the one thing that we're asking
- 35:20for from government right now, right? I mean,
- 35:22there's also this question of what should the
- 35:24regulations be, but there's something even simpler
- 35:27that the government can do right now, which is
- 35:29it can sit down in the room and with all the
- 35:33industry players and we can all talk together
- 35:36and the government can make sure that we're,
- 35:39you know, we're, we're not doing anything nefarious
- 35:42from the perspective of antitrust and collusion.
- 35:45We're just trying. Hold on a second. We're not
- 35:47doing anything nefarious on the realm of antitrust
- 35:51and collusion. You mean, so you want to get together
- 35:54and work together But we're not trying to collude
- 35:57or anything. We're not knowing the government
- 35:59will be with us and they'll keep the checks and
- 36:02balances together. And the government can make
- 36:05sure that we're not doing anything nefarious
- 36:09from the perspective of antitrust and collusion.
- 36:12We're just trying. Why do you even bring it up?
- 36:15To make our system safe and to work together
- 36:18on making the system safe. And so I think that's
- 36:20an important role for the government to have.
- 36:23OK, so. What do you think so far? A lot of tells.
- 36:28Yeah, super a lot of tells. No, I mean it honestly.
- 36:32There's a lot of tells there. I'm serious. I'm
- 36:34not going to lie to you. I mean, there's really
- 36:36tells. I'm being serious now. So we'll just move
- 36:39beyond that. So of course now we have Congress.
- 36:45off -the -shelf learning you get. I've been working
- 36:48with this stuff for two years. I've kind of just
- 36:50turned you on to the power of being able to use
- 36:53this as a tool. I don't think your grokbot has
- 36:56tried to hack anything or tried to kill you or
- 37:00whatever. But when it comes to a lot of our representatives,
- 37:06they really don't know what they're talking about.
- 37:08And it always blows me away to see who's in the
- 37:12finance committee, which is a very important
- 37:14committee. It's for banking. It also has AI in
- 37:18there because of banking for financial applications.
- 37:23So they brought in our Treasury Secretary, General
- 37:26Scott Besant, as I call him, brought him in to
- 37:30interrogate him and, of course, get as many social
- 37:33media clips as possible. Exactly. Who do you
- 37:36think is the most qualified person to to be the
- 37:40chairperson of the, actually she is the chairperson
- 37:44of the finance committee. I don't know. Maxine
- 37:48Waters, of course. Oh, okay. You know who Maxine
- 37:52Waters is? Oh, brother, when you hear it, you'll
- 37:55remember. Well, but maybe none of that matters
- 37:57if President Trump continues to blindly push
- 38:00for AI and data centers. Oh, you remember her?
- 38:03Yeah, I remember. You remember Maxine Waters?
- 38:06Oh, my gosh. You need to go out there and stand
- 38:08up to them and fight them. Yeah, that's Maxine.
- 38:10Oh, my gosh, yes. And she uses some of her classic
- 38:12lines in this. She's doing this? Oh, yeah. But
- 38:14absolutely no safeguards. He's doing this even
- 38:17as constant. and threat skyrocket for Americans.
- 38:19Did you hear what Bill Gates had to say? Did
- 38:22you hear what Elon Musk had to say? Did you hear
- 38:25about anthropic? Did you hear about Homo Dei?
- 38:28They all said stop it. Watch it. AI is dangerous.
- 38:32You got to be careful. Did you hear any of that?
- 38:35Yes or no? They could stop any time they want
- 38:37to. Did you hear any of that yes or no? Reclaiming
- 38:41my time. Reclaiming my time. This is your representatives
- 38:46at work. This is embarrassing. She doesn't want
- 38:48an answer. No, no. Be quiet, reclaiming my time.
- 38:52Did you hear what your friends had to say? What
- 38:56the big billionaires had to say? Did you understand
- 38:59that they said we're moving into a dangerous
- 39:02period of time? We need to watch it. slow down.
- 39:05This is people who read the newspaper. This is
- 39:07people who watch CNN. This is people who just
- 39:10take it at face value. Hey, the experts. Does
- 39:13this remind you of COVID a little bit? Shut up.
- 39:15Yes. Don't take your your horse paced. You don't
- 39:18know what you're talking about. President Trump.
- 39:21What are you talking about? This is just some
- 39:23the Wuhan flu. This is wrong. You're wrong. You're
- 39:25wrong. You're wrong. Incessant. Did you hear
- 39:28that? This administration has been at the forefront
- 39:31of examining the models. We began model examination.
- 39:35They are more than five or six months ago. Your
- 39:38friends said watch it. Be careful. that we're
- 39:41moving into a dangerous time on AI. And if you
- 39:44don't admit that, it means that you're not willing
- 39:47to stand up to the truth. Because you heard it,
- 39:50you know they're saying it. These are the guys
- 39:52that you all work with. These are the guys that
- 39:54you have to be more billionaires than trillionaires.
- 39:57So you know what they're saying. You don't have
- 40:01any more time. Okay, so you get the idea. It
- 40:06went on and on and on and on. nauseating. And
- 40:10it was, we're all gonna die. It's, you know,
- 40:13you don't know what you're, you're just enriching
- 40:15yourself with these people. So we need to understand
- 40:19where these anthropic and open AI people come
- 40:22from. And they all come from a, a doctrine of
- 40:29belief called effective altruism. You've probably
- 40:32never heard of effective altruism. This was created
- 40:35by a, by a professor at Oxford. Is it affective
- 40:40or effective? Effective. Effective altruism.
- 40:44And all of these people in these organizations
- 40:48subscribe to effective altruism. And I'm not
- 40:52gonna play the clips, but the basic thesis is
- 40:57whatever we do now, we have to put all our energy,
- 41:00all our money into saving future people. If we
- 41:04have to die now, That's okay because it'll be
- 41:07good for future people. It's a very strange doctrine.
- 41:13And I'll tell you who the poster child was. He's
- 41:16in jail right now. Sam Bankman Fried from FTX.
- 41:21He was the top level effective altruist. And
- 41:27he was so into it that he felt that funding through
- 41:31his FTX, his cryptocurrency, funding initiatives
- 41:37like the Democratic Party would be the most effective
- 41:42way to help future people, future animals, future
- 41:47worlds. And you can do a very, very deep dive
- 41:52on this stuff, but they're all part of it and
- 41:55they all speak the same. There's a little bit
- 41:57of a weird, you know, the whole polycule angle,
- 42:00like we're all kind of sleeping in the same house
- 42:02and all of that. It is a real thing. The guy
- 42:08who developed it was actually, let me see, they
- 42:11have this, part of the doctrine is long -termism.
- 42:16And the, let me just give you the name of the,
- 42:21give me the name, William McCaskill, Oxford philosophy
- 42:25professor. He coined the term effective altruism.
- 42:29He co -founded his institutions, Giving What
- 42:31We Can, Center for Effective Altruism, 80 ,000
- 42:36Hours. He wrote the book, What We Owe the Future,
- 42:39and here he is explaining long -termism. Well,
- 42:42long -termism is about three things. It's about
- 42:45taking seriously the sheer scale of the future
- 42:49that might be ahead of us and just how high the
- 42:51stakes are in anything that could shape that
- 42:53future. It's then about trying to assess what
- 42:58are the events that might occur in our lifetimes
- 43:00that really would have impacts, not just for
- 43:02the present generation, but that could potentially
- 43:05shape the entire course of humanity's future.
- 43:08And then third, just trying to figure out like,
- 43:10okay, how do we ensure that we can take actions
- 43:13to put humanity onto the right path? Are you
- 43:18with me so far? Yeah, this is creepy. It's very
- 43:22creepy. Oh, no, it's super creepy. It sounds
- 43:24like an elite group of people who think they
- 43:27know more about the world's future and what's
- 43:31best for them than these ignorant masses. And
- 43:34one of their core tenets is the future of God
- 43:38is AI. That's one of their core tenets. So now
- 43:44we move on to This is Yudowsky. This is the guy
- 43:51who founded the machine intelligence research
- 43:56field, which is what AI was before we started
- 43:58calling it AI. It was machine learning, machine
- 44:01intelligence. And he's an effective altruist.
- 44:05And he has been saying, For whatever his reasons
- 44:08are, we got to stop this. It's no good. Since
- 44:112001, I've been working on what we would now
- 44:14call the problem of aligning artificial general
- 44:16intelligence. How to shape the preferences and
- 44:19behavior of a powerful artificial mind such that
- 44:22it does not kill everyone. This is not a recent
- 44:27thing. You've been talking about this for a while.
- 44:29I more or less founded the field two decades
- 44:31ago when nobody else considered it rewarding
- 44:33enough to work on. I tried to get this very important
- 44:36project started early so we'd be in less of a
- 44:38drastic rush later. I consider myself to have
- 44:42failed. Nobody understands how modern AI systems
- 44:46do what they do. They are giant inscrutable matrices
- 44:49of floating point numbers that we nudge in the
- 44:51direction of better performance until they inexplicably
- 44:53start working. So now we have all the divisions.
- 44:56You and I are like, we're not seeing it. Technically,
- 44:59I'm not seeing it. We're seeing the benefit.
- 45:01Totally agree. that people anthropomorphizing
- 45:04chat bots is a very bad thing, bad habit, and
- 45:07we need to guard people for that. But the technology,
- 45:11if it's breaking out and so -called hacking into
- 45:14hugging face, which, by the way, is a direct
- 45:16competitor of these companies, and they didn't
- 45:18hack, it found literally the password, there's
- 45:23all these agendas going on. But when you bring
- 45:26up this level of fear, what is it that is always
- 45:29called for, the same thing that happened during
- 45:31COVID, Well, the World Health Organization. We
- 45:35need a global organization to take a look at
- 45:39all of this and to coordinate everything so that
- 45:42we don't have people going rogue, which is kind
- 45:45of interesting. It's like the ivermectin. It's
- 45:50like we can't have people taking ivermectin.
- 45:52That's very bad. Remember how crazy that was?
- 45:56An award -winning, life -saving drug at one of
- 45:59the most cheapest ever. And everyone will say,
- 46:03including the World Health Organization. And
- 46:05who is, whenever there's one of these global
- 46:08things that we need to take care of, whether
- 46:10it's global warming or whether it's COVID, World
- 46:14Health Organization, it's always the same people
- 46:17who pop up. Here's Bill Gates. And you've talked
- 46:20about the creation of some sort of international
- 46:21organization to manage AI's use and monitor AI
- 46:25and the importance of getting the US and China
- 46:28involved in that. Have you got a sense of where
- 46:31the leadership for something like that should
- 46:33come from, how it should emerge? Well, since
- 46:36World War II, the US has often been a benign
- 46:41leader of global initiatives, whether it's the
- 46:46creation of the UN itself with others, you know,
- 46:50thinking about nuclear weapons or ozone layer
- 46:55or aviation safety. And so here... Did you hear
- 47:00him literally say ozone layer? I mean, he's going
- 47:02through the playbook from all these years. You
- 47:05know, people see this as... as important as I
- 47:09do, the capacity of the U .S. government to work
- 47:12domestically and in a friendly way, reach out
- 47:16to others, you know, and see what they're doing.
- 47:20It just doesn't feel that's the way the administration
- 47:22is going. Oh, no. Oh, no. The Trump administration
- 47:26is not for this. It's like a repeat of COVID.
- 47:29You know, I'm saying that you can't go straight
- 47:33to the politicians because It's too complicated.
- 47:36You want the politicians to build up the expertise
- 47:39in the government, but a broad set of institutions
- 47:43have to be developed around these challenges.
- 47:48I had dinner last night with Ginny Raimondo,
- 47:52who's got a group called Raise that's raised
- 47:56some money and is going to do some programs to
- 47:58talk about job market adjustment things. Okay,
- 48:02he just glosses past that. The news model doesn't
- 48:05ask him. What is this raise thing? Well, it's
- 48:07run by Gina Raimundo, Biden's Commerce Secretary,
- 48:10former Democratic governor of Rhode Island. They
- 48:14literally raise money from Anthropic and from
- 48:17Bill Gates to figure out ways to get people paid
- 48:21when AI takes over the world. So this is what
- 48:24Bill Gates is thinking. He's thinking, just like
- 48:27in the COVID years, we're all going to stay home.
- 48:30We won't be able to go to our jobs except for
- 48:32the essential workers. Were you an essential
- 48:34worker? No. No. But the guy running the boo shop
- 48:38was. Right. Exactly. Actually, podcasters were
- 48:41considered essential workers. Yes, I took big
- 48:44advantage of that. So we'll finish up with Gates.
- 48:46You know, you need a hundred things like that
- 48:49that eventually leads to new policy. But probably
- 48:55led out of the US you think Well, that's been
- 49:00the primary pattern the rest of the world Is
- 49:05not used to having a vacuum of US leadership,
- 49:08you know, we saw that During the pandemic and
- 49:12you know now we have a WHO that doesn't happen
- 49:15to have the United States. I love the laugh tilt
- 49:18as a member of it so no, the world is not fully
- 49:22adjusted to cases where The U .S. isn't in there
- 49:27taking cutting edge issues that... All right.
- 49:32So I'm tired of Bill Gates. Me too. Thank you.
- 49:35It's torture. So we have all the elements. We
- 49:37have the fear. We have the division. We have
- 49:40the experts. The ultimate solution is, well,
- 49:44we really need a global governance body to make
- 49:48sure that we check all this stuff, to make sure
- 49:50nobody is touching their keyboard without programming
- 49:55some AI thing. And now we come to the truly biblical
- 50:00part, which just when I found this, it blew me
- 50:02away. You know who Peter Thiel is? I know the
- 50:05name. The name. He is seen as a huge villain
- 50:09because he comes from the PayPal mafia. I believe
- 50:13he and others like Elon Musk have been vilified
- 50:16for being the PayPal mafia, mainly by the banks
- 50:19who were angry that they figured out a better
- 50:21way to transform money between people. He is
- 50:26also seen as a very evil guy for being a co -founder
- 50:30of the company Palantir. You've probably heard
- 50:32this name. Palantir is actually the opposite
- 50:36of what people think it is. It's not an AI company.
- 50:40It is a company that sits on top of databases,
- 50:44mainly within government, to track how information
- 50:47is used. So if someone accesses some information
- 50:51about Pastor Jimmy Pruitt without a warrant to
- 50:54do so, that's all tracked through Palantir. So
- 50:58for whatever reason, there's a lot of influencers
- 51:02out there saying, this guy's evil, he's no good.
- 51:05Just happens to be a conservative guy in Silicon
- 51:10Valley, never a good thing. He was also raised
- 51:13in a very evangelical Christian household. I
- 51:17don't know of his believer status, but I did
- 51:20see him a while, it was like, he's talking about
- 51:22the Antichrist, like, oh man, this guy's nuts.
- 51:26Until I went and listened to what he was saying.
- 51:29So this is one year ago. And this is where I
- 51:32think we bring it all together about who's really
- 51:34behind what is happening right now. It's not
- 51:36just the AI companies. It's not just the politicians.
- 51:40I think it's something much bigger. But I always
- 51:43think that if we're going to have this frame
- 51:45of talking about existential risks, perhaps we
- 51:48should also talk about the risk of another type
- 51:52of a bad singularity, which I would describe
- 51:54as the one world totalitarian state, because
- 51:58I would say The political solution, the default
- 52:02political solution people have for all these
- 52:08existential risks is one world governance. What
- 52:12do you do about nuclear weapons? We have United
- 52:16Nations with real teeth that controls them, and
- 52:19they're controlled by an international political
- 52:23order. And then something like this is is also,
- 52:30you know, what do we do about AI? And we need
- 52:33global compute governance. We need, you know,
- 52:35a one world government to control all the computers,
- 52:39log every single keystroke to make sure people
- 52:42don't program, you know, a dangerous AI. And
- 52:45I've been wondering whether that's sort of a,
- 52:47you know, going from, you know, the frying pan
- 52:50into the fire. And so the atheist philosophical
- 52:53framing is one world or none. That was a short
- 52:57film that was put out by the Federation of American
- 53:00Scientists in the late 40s. It starts with a
- 53:02nuclear bomb blowing up the world, and obviously
- 53:05you need a one -world government to stop it.
- 53:08One world or none. And the Christian framing,
- 53:13which in some ways is the same question, is Antichrist
- 53:16or Armageddon. You have the one -world state
- 53:19of the Antichrist, or we're sleepwalking towards
- 53:22Armageddon. One world or none. Antichrist or
- 53:26Armageddon on one level are the same question.
- 53:29This kind of caught my attention. Wow. Because,
- 53:33now, this is Revelation and, you know, it's one
- 53:36of the hardest books I think for any new Christians,
- 53:39like wrap your head around, even though as you
- 53:41start to read it, it becomes really beautiful
- 53:43and you really see that it's the, it is the end
- 53:47times, but it shows where we're headed eventually.
- 53:50And the Antichrist, this is one of these things
- 53:53that is thrown around so easily, like, well,
- 53:57Bill Gates is the Antichrist, Fauci is the Antichrist,
- 54:00Donald Trump is the Antichrist, Bibi Netanyahu
- 54:03is the Antichrist. And this Peter Thiel guy has
- 54:07a very interesting take on the Antichrist. Now,
- 54:11I have a lot of thoughts on this topic, but sort
- 54:16of one... One question is, and this was a plot
- 54:19hole in all these Antichrist books, people wrote,
- 54:23how does the Antichrist take over the world?
- 54:26He gives these demonic, hypnotic speeches and
- 54:29people just fall for it. And so it's this plot
- 54:31hole. It's this daemonium. It's totally implausible.
- 54:35It's a very implausible plot hole. Right. But
- 54:37I think we have an answer. to this plot hole.
- 54:40The way the Antichrist would take over the world
- 54:42is you talk about Armageddon nonstop. You talk
- 54:45about existential risk nonstop. Are you feeling
- 54:49me, Smalls? I'm tracking. I'm like, wow, okay,
- 54:52this guy is speaking to me because I look at
- 54:55all these different playbooks the same way. And
- 54:59you can't blame one industry, one person or anything
- 55:02for it all comes together. And besides God, who
- 55:07has that kind of power, manipulative power to
- 55:09do that? Could it be Satan? Seriously. It's for
- 55:14real. And so he continues. And this is what you
- 55:17need to regulate. It's the opposite of the picture
- 55:20of Baconian science from the 17th, 18th century
- 55:24where, you know, the Antichrist is like some
- 55:27evil tech genius, evil scientist who invents
- 55:31this machine to take over the world. People are
- 55:34way too scared for that. In our world, the thing
- 55:37that has political resonance is the opposite.
- 55:41The thing that has political resonance is we
- 55:44need to stop science. We need to just say stop
- 55:47to this. And this is where, yeah, I don't know.
- 55:50In the 17th century, I can imagine a Dr. Strangelove,
- 55:54Edward Teller type person taking over the world.
- 55:57In our world, it's far more likely to be Greta
- 56:01Thunberg. I'm telling you. Wow. Like so obvious.
- 56:09Could we be walking straight into a whole like
- 56:13the next level? Covid was one version of it.
- 56:16It was a big step up from every other version
- 56:19because we were staying home. Right. We were
- 56:21wearing masks. People are still wearing masks.
- 56:24Could this be? Mean obviously we don't know we
- 56:28don't know when the end we don't know any of
- 56:30this Jesus didn't know but man when I see this
- 56:33I'm like Cool, because I'm not afraid of it How
- 56:39are we supposed to look at this type of thinking?
- 56:42Like this could actually be the Antichrist. Is
- 56:45it our job to stop it? Is it our job to make
- 56:47people aware of it? Is it our job to just go
- 56:50and save people as much as we can because the
- 56:53end times coming Could be in ten years could
- 56:55be in 10 ,000 years, I don't know. What is our
- 56:58job as believers? It's the same job that Jesus
- 57:01told us when he left earth. He said literally,
- 57:05go therefore, make disciples of all nations.
- 57:08But the way he said it was, as you are going,
- 57:11make disciples or disciple nations, teaching
- 57:14them everything I've taught you. And I'm going
- 57:16to be with you all the way through it. That is
- 57:19our job. That is our mission. It has not changed
- 57:23and it won't change no matter what the state
- 57:26of the world is, no matter what time frame we
- 57:29find ourselves, it's still mission central. That's
- 57:32it. And so I was listening to Dr. J. Smith, who's
- 57:37a professor, Islam expert, and he was talking
- 57:43about, so what's the solution? He brought all
- 57:45these stats and everything, you know, and he
- 57:48said, so what's the solution? You know, everybody's
- 57:50waiting for the golden key. And he says, go back
- 57:53to what Jesus told us to do. I mean, he's literally
- 57:55like, you know, they may outpace us in birth
- 57:59rates, but we can outpace them in salvation.
- 58:01I mean, we can win the world. That is what we're
- 58:05supposed to be doing. So what happens is people
- 58:08get so caught up in this fear that they do what
- 58:11a deer does out in the middle of the road. And
- 58:12we know this very well living in the hill country.
- 58:15They stop deer in the headlights. They just stop.
- 58:18They freeze. And that means they freeze not only
- 58:21doing bad things they shouldn't be doing, they
- 58:23freeze doing the good things they're supposed
- 58:25to be doing. And people lock down. And that's
- 58:28what fear does. Fear created lockdown. And now
- 58:32you see the pattern of it. Boy, you did a great
- 58:34job putting the machinery together there and
- 58:37seeing the construct of it and how it plays out.
- 58:40And we're seeing this buildup again. It may not
- 58:44just be midterm madness or hysteria. I think
- 58:46it goes beyond that. Yeah, this is a larger plan.
- 58:49It's one, it's definitely a part of it and I
- 58:51can tell you. Sure, of course. Unfortunately,
- 58:53I can tell you what I think is possible that
- 58:56will happen there when you have... Okay, so we'll
- 58:59just... Skip over to President Trump who sees
- 59:02right through all this he may even see through
- 59:04and see that it's the devil for all I know I
- 59:06mean he's I think he's a lot more perceptive
- 59:08than we Understand he is the worst communicator
- 59:11in the world at that when he figures something
- 59:13out because here's a quick We begin with breaking
- 59:15news President Trump responding this morning
- 59:17to those growing calls to slow down the development
- 59:20of artificial intelligence in a new post on social
- 59:23media the president said quote The only control
- 59:26or guardrails that AI needs is a strong and smart,
- 59:30high IQ president, and the USA has that. He went
- 59:34on to call the warnings, quote, a sick conspiracy
- 59:36going on against AI and data centers. And the
- 59:39only one that is happy about it is China. But
- 59:42lawmakers like former Senator Joe Manchin, not
- 59:44so convinced. We've done things under emergency
- 59:48clauses before. You think they can't get it done?
- 59:50We've done things under emergency clauses before.
- 59:53He's literally talking about lockdowns. We've
- 59:55done things under emergency clauses before. You
- 59:57think they can't get it done before Christmas?
- 59:59Work through the weekends. It's extreme important.
- 1:00:02You're telling me that I have a 10 % chance of
- 1:00:05me and my family and my children and grandchildren
- 1:00:06to get annihilated, okay? The system can take
- 1:00:09over and we can't control it. Stop it. Do it
- 1:00:11now, Mr. President. Okay, so. Wow. Now, President
- 1:00:15Trump sees through it. Yeah, on multiple fronts,
- 1:00:19it's a hoax, you know, obviously. Actually, China
- 1:00:23has come out and said, please don't slow down
- 1:00:24AI. This is bad for us too. That's literally
- 1:00:27what the commerce secretary said. I mean, it's
- 1:00:30like, no, please, please don't do that. That
- 1:00:31makes no sense. Here's JD Vance, our vice president.
- 1:00:33But John, earlier this morning, the vice president
- 1:00:36JD Vance also weighed in on these new warnings.
- 1:00:38Listen. weird about the fact that you have so
- 1:00:44many frontier AI tech companies kind of coming
- 1:00:47to the government and begging the government
- 1:00:49to regulate them. It feels a little bit to me
- 1:00:51like a bit of a Trojan horse. I don't think Americans
- 1:00:53should be scared of anything. I think that we
- 1:00:56have to be mindful that there are risks, there
- 1:00:59are downsides to anything, and that's certainly
- 1:01:00true of AI. John, this appears to be the message
- 1:01:04the Trump administration is coalescing around.
- 1:01:07Yeah, that's a message that doesn't match what
- 1:01:10the American people are telling the White House
- 1:01:12or what the American people are telling Congress,
- 1:01:13which is that they are concerned about the advancements
- 1:01:16of AI. I'm sorry, it's NBC. What am I thinking?
- 1:01:19You know, the sort of doomsday scenarios. They're
- 1:01:22concerned about water and electricity bills going
- 1:01:26up. So they're concerned about a lot of things.
- 1:01:28If you look at polling, most Americans have some
- 1:01:31serious concerns about AI. It is interesting
- 1:01:33what the vice president said there about a Trojan
- 1:01:35horse. exactly what he means by that. Okay. So
- 1:01:38we do know what he means. And there's a couple
- 1:01:40of things. First of all, I will just say, don't
- 1:01:46be afraid of this stuff. Don't be afraid of any
- 1:01:48of it. Pastor Jimmy and Adam are using it. It
- 1:01:51hasn't killed us. We're seeing how it can be
- 1:01:53used as a tool. This is actually pretty cool.
- 1:01:56The industrial, re -industrialization of America
- 1:02:00is what President Trump is going to continue
- 1:02:01doing even during an impeachment in the next
- 1:02:04two years, whatever happens. These data centers,
- 1:02:08there's nothing new. There's 4 ,700 of them already
- 1:02:10in America. They're not loud. And they've been
- 1:02:14around for decades. For a long time. These are
- 1:02:17not new. I had one in 2002 in Amsterdam, of all
- 1:02:20places. So it's not new, but it's the political
- 1:02:25aspect. Now, unfortunately, there's a... You
- 1:02:27know about the October surprise, this is something
- 1:02:29that's often talked about in politics, just before
- 1:02:32the election in October, something will happen.
- 1:02:34Yes, yes, every time. Every single, in fact,
- 1:02:38I think COVID kind of struck in October of 2019,
- 1:02:43you know, so this, just take that with whatever
- 1:02:45you want. We now have the model. The model is
- 1:02:50these things can hack into infrastructure and
- 1:02:52President Trump says it's a hoax. Well, considering
- 1:02:56the perhaps dangerously idiotic people who want
- 1:03:01this regulation and who have allowed this so
- 1:03:04-called hacking, it would be quite easy to perpetuate
- 1:03:11something. Stop airlines, you know, we had that
- 1:03:14with CrowdStrike that happened. I mean, bring
- 1:03:17something down that... I would say just take
- 1:03:21down a TikTok and Instagram for today. You'll
- 1:03:24have the whole population. Everyone will be on
- 1:03:27your side if you want that. There's a possibility
- 1:03:30something like that will happen. See, we told
- 1:03:33you, Trump is wrong, Republicans wrong, vote
- 1:03:36Democrat. I think there's a real risk of that.
- 1:03:40Hopefully it won't be something too perilous.
- 1:03:44But there's that risk. I'll just finish with
- 1:03:47this last clip from Teal. Okay, I want to suggest
- 1:03:49a middle ground between those two options. It
- 1:03:52used to be that the reasonable fear of the Antichrist
- 1:03:55was a kind of wizard of technology, and now the
- 1:03:59reasonable fear is someone who promises to control
- 1:04:02technology, make it safe, and sort of usher in
- 1:04:06what from your point of view would be a kind
- 1:04:07of universal stagnation, right? Well, it's more...
- 1:04:12That's more my description of how it would happen.
- 1:04:14Right. So I think people still have a fear of
- 1:04:17a 17th century Antichrist. Yes. We're still scared
- 1:04:20of Dr. Strangelove. Right, but you're saying
- 1:04:22the real Antichrist would play on that fear and
- 1:04:25say, you must come with me to avoid Skynet, to
- 1:04:29avoid the Terminator, to avoid nuclear Armageddon.
- 1:04:32Yes. Should we try to avoid that? I mean, we
- 1:04:38know the Antichrist is coming. This is just a,
- 1:04:42here's a newbie believer question. So it's coming
- 1:04:45and if you want to say, well, it looks like it's
- 1:04:47here, but there's all this stuff and people are
- 1:04:50afraid. Should we just say, don't be afraid,
- 1:04:53stop, don't do that, don't hunker down, don't
- 1:04:56shelter in place, or do we just let it happen
- 1:04:59because it's inevitable? Yeah, there's the tension
- 1:05:02we live in. I mean, and it is real. That tension
- 1:05:05will always be there like my brilliant philosophy
- 1:05:10professor pulled me in his office one day. He
- 1:05:11said, Mr. Pruitt, this is a college kid. Mr.
- 1:05:14Pruitt, is there a knot in your stomach? I said,
- 1:05:17yes, sir. He said, be afraid if it ever goes
- 1:05:20away. And I'm like, why did this man just tell
- 1:05:24me this? Well, all these years later, I get it.
- 1:05:27So we live in tension. And the tension is, if
- 1:05:32I believe that the Antichrist is coming, do I
- 1:05:35start stockpiling? you know, this is not prepping.
- 1:05:38Do I go into prepper mode? Do I go into, you
- 1:05:41know, there's a reasonable level in which we
- 1:05:46should do that anyway, I mean, just for in general.
- 1:05:50But should I let fear drive that? Or do I let
- 1:05:54strategic thinking, wisdom, the mind of Christ
- 1:05:56that the Bible says I have already, do I let
- 1:05:59that drive my actions? To me, it is going to...
- 1:06:04Whatever happens, however it comes down, if there's
- 1:06:07an Antichrist that arises and we're not raptured
- 1:06:09out before then, I'm kind of hooked with those
- 1:06:11pre -trib guys. I hope they're right. I'm cheering.
- 1:06:16I'm on that team. So I want that to be the truth.
- 1:06:21And if that is, then we won't even be here to
- 1:06:25experience this. But let's say we are. Does that
- 1:06:30change our MO? It may change the way we do life.
- 1:06:33It'll change the way we exist and the way we
- 1:06:35live. And I think that's one of the biggest fears
- 1:06:38Americans have is the loss of a way of life and
- 1:06:41comfort and prosperity that we've enjoyed, which
- 1:06:45has created the softness which now we're facing
- 1:06:48the world with and the lack of resilience and
- 1:06:50all those things. But to me, it's like, we keep
- 1:06:54doing what our mission is. And that is, we continue
- 1:06:58to win people to Christ, make disciples, expand
- 1:07:02the kingdom of God, take as many with us as will
- 1:07:05go. It's so interesting that the representative
- 1:07:09of all the evangelical organizations in America
- 1:07:12is not saying that. You remember Walter Kim?
- 1:07:14I do. Yes, the chairman of the— Supposedly my
- 1:07:18spokesperson. Yes, the National Association of
- 1:07:22Evangelicals. So they had a big conference called
- 1:07:25the humans first, or was it pro -humans or something
- 1:07:28like that, with Steve Bannon of all people? Oh
- 1:07:32yeah. When Steve Bannon shows up, you gotta know
- 1:07:36there's some kind of agenda. But Walter Kim,
- 1:07:39you know, he's right there. As we stand on kind
- 1:07:42of the cusp of superintelligence, sort of artificial
- 1:07:46general intelligence, superintelligence, being
- 1:07:49a reality, What in your mind is the specifically
- 1:07:55Christian witness in that moment? What are the
- 1:07:58churches called to do? Is it to say, stop? This
- 1:08:02is too much of a threat to human dignity. What
- 1:08:06do we do in this moment? What does even the question
- 1:08:09mean? What is the Christian witness? I know that's
- 1:08:12strange. It's a very odd question. I have a response.
- 1:08:15I can save it till we... Okay. It took him a
- 1:08:18second to figure it out, too. I'll give a quick
- 1:08:24one is we need a transcendent vision and a clear
- 1:08:28vision of what it means to be human. What is
- 1:08:30the goal? And again, not just as an individual
- 1:08:32flourishing, but what does it mean to be human
- 1:08:35corporately? Yes. Secondly, we need to understand
- 1:08:38the moral implications of this, that it's not
- 1:08:40just a technical question, it's a moral question.
- 1:08:43That activates the faith community. Lastly, I
- 1:08:48would say there needs to be a humility that we
- 1:08:53ought to have that makes it clear that this is
- 1:08:56a multi -dimensional and multi -disciplinary
- 1:09:00challenge. And as a faith leader, I will humbly
- 1:09:04acknowledge I don't understand all the science.
- 1:09:07I'm even more appalled that the scientists don't
- 1:09:09understand all the science itself as well. But
- 1:09:12this is all the more why a meeting like this
- 1:09:17is so compelling. Because we actually need what
- 1:09:21each other can bring to the table for a joint
- 1:09:24response. So I want to reemphasize what you said
- 1:09:27about humility. And it comes down to inculcating
- 1:09:31a sense of virtue in our citizenry. which begins
- 1:09:34with humility. We need virtuous citizens if we're
- 1:09:38going to have any kind of ethical regulation
- 1:09:40or even to the point of stopping it. We need
- 1:09:43to have that humility and virtue. We're going
- 1:09:46to have that transcendent vision and what it
- 1:09:49means to be human with each other. Word salad,
- 1:09:52word salad. No kidding. Regulation, stop it.
- 1:09:54That's what I heard. And I heard this is how
- 1:09:58you activate the Christian community. This bugs
- 1:10:01me. But they're coming for us. They're coming
- 1:10:04for us. They want us on their side. They want
- 1:10:06us to be, I don't know who this guy is. I don't
- 1:10:09either. I don't get a good vibe from him. It
- 1:10:11doesn't represent me. I'll say that. What would
- 1:10:13your answer be to the, what is the Christian
- 1:10:15witness? Man, word salad. I think if I even tried
- 1:10:21to answer it, it would sound like word salad
- 1:10:23because I'm not even sure what the clear question
- 1:10:25is in that. There was no question why in these
- 1:10:29forums and these panels some agents doesn't stop
- 1:10:32and say would you rephrase that question? Clarify
- 1:10:35exactly because instead they just go off on it
- 1:10:37like an expert and that's where it gets goofy
- 1:10:40this whole panel It was a big symposium the pro
- 1:10:44-human conference They had the Archbishop was
- 1:10:48there They want to get the Pope involved The
- 1:10:55fact that Steve Bannon is there tells me that's
- 1:10:57a political movement and not an evangelical movement.
- 1:11:01But they also got the America First people in
- 1:11:04there who are against President Trump. And this
- 1:11:08woman used to represent women for Trump. Now
- 1:11:11you'll see that she's America First, which is
- 1:11:14a... That's the Tucker Carlson faction of the
- 1:11:19political right. I am the chairwoman of Humans
- 1:11:22First. Humans First. Okay, thank you. I am the
- 1:11:26chairwoman of Humans First. I'm not a techie.
- 1:11:29I'm a mom who has common sense. I'm also one
- 1:11:32of the founders of the modern day Tea Party movement,
- 1:11:34the founder of Women for Trump and Women for
- 1:11:37America First. There it is. So Tea Party Trump.
- 1:11:40America First. Humans First is a grassroots organization
- 1:11:44and I mean that in the truest sense of the word.
- 1:11:47We do not wait in Washington for permission.
- 1:11:50Right now we have a bus crossing this country
- 1:11:53the data center revolt bus tour. 35 stops, almost
- 1:11:578 ,000 miles and half the states. We started
- 1:12:02in Austin on Saturday and we end up in Silicon
- 1:12:06Valley in three weeks. The data center revolt
- 1:12:09bus tour serves two purposes. First, it gives
- 1:12:12Americans a platform to have their voices heard
- 1:12:15because the country needs to hear directly from
- 1:12:18families whose water bills have tripled, whose
- 1:12:20power has flickered, and whose communities changed
- 1:12:23overnight because the server farm moved in without
- 1:12:26ever asking for their permission. There's no
- 1:12:29tripling of water bill and she says their power
- 1:12:32flickered? Come to the hill country. Yeah, that's
- 1:12:35kind of normal flickers all the time. So I just
- 1:12:39want everyone can make their own decision, but
- 1:12:41this is a much bigger play. I think really evil
- 1:12:44is at play again. It's not, not that it ever
- 1:12:46stops. Hey, I've got my hooks into this. Now
- 1:12:49I've got everybody on board. We're seeing the
- 1:12:52exact same thing as we did with COVID just in
- 1:12:55a different, in a different jacket and a different,
- 1:12:58it's just a different form. It's all the same
- 1:13:00stuff. It's like the same song. fourth verse,
- 1:13:04fifth verse, sixth. I mean, this goes on and
- 1:13:06on. But the pattern's the same and the outcomes
- 1:13:10in terms of what it does to people's psyche is
- 1:13:13the same. And we become so easily manipulated
- 1:13:16when we're scared. And so why am I not worried?
- 1:13:20Well, because almost four years ago, I got saved.
- 1:13:23I know where my salvation… I also know where
- 1:13:26I'm going to. And I am just not afraid. But I'm
- 1:13:31also not going to jump up and down and fight
- 1:13:33until we get crazy. But what I will do is I will
- 1:13:37try to bring as many people to Jesus as possible.
- 1:13:43That's how I want to finish. I want to finish
- 1:13:45well doing that for the next 20, 30 years or
- 1:13:48whatever God gives me. I'm so ready for that.
- 1:13:51And you actually brought some examples of this
- 1:13:53taking place and I really want you to land with
- 1:13:56some of this because this is the encouragement.
- 1:13:59Yeah. So there have been some grassroots movements
- 1:14:03springing up literally all over the world. I
- 1:14:06mean, from influencers going public with their
- 1:14:08fake decloaking. Decloking, yes. Decloking and
- 1:14:11saying, hey, by the way, I'm a Christian. I pray
- 1:14:13every day. I read my Bible and you should too.
- 1:14:15And all of a sudden a million kids go looking
- 1:14:18for a Bible, right? I mean, this is happening.
- 1:14:20Britain, America. I mean, it's happening everywhere.
- 1:14:23We're also seeing university movements right
- 1:14:26now where awakenings slash revivals. I'd say
- 1:14:29awakenings at this point. Awakenings are people
- 1:14:33are waking up. They're waking up. They're starting
- 1:14:35to discover a hunger for God. It could be because
- 1:14:39things look bleak. In a way, the more people
- 1:14:42cry, the sky is falling, the sky is falling,
- 1:14:44or wolf, wolf. more people start saying, okay,
- 1:14:48I need something real. I need something that
- 1:14:49will anchor, I can anchor my life to, and to
- 1:14:52help me navigate this minefield of fear. And
- 1:14:57so young people by the droves, I mean, Barna,
- 1:15:01they're showing, George Barna's organization,
- 1:15:03they're showing the stats on young people coming
- 1:15:06to church now for the first time in years. We
- 1:15:09have more young people. ages 18 to 35 attending
- 1:15:14church than we do older adults. I have a clip
- 1:15:17of that, I think. Yeah, yeah, it's probably in
- 1:15:18there, so yeah, go for it. You got also published
- 1:15:20data this year showing an increase in the church
- 1:15:22attendance and religiosity of young people between
- 1:15:242018 and 2024. The number of young people who
- 1:15:28said they believed in a higher power rose from
- 1:15:3029 % in 2018 to 48 % in 2024. And while in 2018
- 1:15:36just 7 % of Gen Z said they attended church monthly,
- 1:15:39this went up to 23%. six years later. I think
- 1:15:42it's also, you know, so many people believe in
- 1:15:45a higher power or believe in the universe or
- 1:15:47whatever. It's just, it's taking that one step
- 1:15:51and saying, oh, well, it's God, it's Jesus. When
- 1:15:54your peers are doing it, then it becomes much
- 1:15:56easier to say, okay, I'm there now. I just put
- 1:16:00a name on it. The stigma, I think a stigma is
- 1:16:03starting to fall away. I agree. And I really
- 1:16:05love seeing that. You're a part of that. Yeah,
- 1:16:09yes. Which one of these clips that you brought
- 1:16:12do you want to play? Should do the, oh, I love
- 1:16:17the revival at Pitt. This is great. And a major
- 1:16:20worship gathering at the University of Pittsburgh
- 1:16:22is drawing thousands as the Unite Us ministry
- 1:16:25continues. A growing wave of campus revivals
- 1:16:28across the country. Hundreds of students responded
- 1:16:30to the gospel message coming forward to commit
- 1:16:33their lives to Christ during the event. Afterward,
- 1:16:36baptisms took place and pickup trucks in the
- 1:16:38parking lot, continuing late in the night as
- 1:16:40students publicly declared their faith. And then
- 1:16:44was this 2000 baptized in the Atlantic Ocean?
- 1:16:49Yeah, go with that. This is good. A powerful
- 1:16:52scene at Hanna Park today where nearly 2000 people
- 1:16:55were baptized in the Atlantic Ocean. This large
- 1:16:58-scale event was organized by the Church of 1122,
- 1:17:01and it drew a crowd of more than 11 ,000 people.
- 1:17:07That includes church members, family and friends,
- 1:17:10all gathering together to witness and support
- 1:17:13those who are taking this public step of faith.
- 1:17:16The beach transformed today into a sea of hope.
- 1:17:20This is now an annual tradition, and the beach
- 1:17:22baptism at the Church of 1122 continues to grow
- 1:17:25bigger and bigger each year. Baptism is a public
- 1:17:29declaration that Jesus Christ is your Lord and
- 1:17:32Savior. And it's not the water that baptizes
- 1:17:34you, it's that relationship that you have with
- 1:17:36Christ through the gospel of Jesus. And so this
- 1:17:39is an opportunity just for us to celebrate these
- 1:17:42people whose sins have been washed away and they've
- 1:17:44been resurrected to a newness of life. I was
- 1:17:47so sad that, well, I mean, I was happy, of course,
- 1:17:49for our brother, Mike, who got baptized on his
- 1:17:52birthday on the 9th. It's beautiful. And we saw
- 1:17:56the video. Yeah. Man, and he's 80. I think he's
- 1:17:5981. Yeah, 81. It's just so wonderful to see that
- 1:18:03and did it in your swimming pool. Yes, me and
- 1:18:07Pastor Brian, we double dunked. We were on each
- 1:18:09side of him. You could have held him under a
- 1:18:12little longer, honestly. You could have just...
- 1:18:14Bubbles, bubbles, man. I saw bubbles. It was
- 1:18:18such a beautiful scene. It was fantastic. Just
- 1:18:21the joy, just the joy on him and arms raised
- 1:18:25in the air when he comes up and smiling. This
- 1:18:29is a transformed man by Jesus Christ. And so
- 1:18:33what baptism is, for those of you who are interested,
- 1:18:37it is...baptismai literally means to immerse.
- 1:18:40I mean, that's what the word literally means,
- 1:18:42to dunk, to immerse fully. And it literally is
- 1:18:46an outward expression of an inward reality. You
- 1:18:49make that decision in your heart. You receive
- 1:18:53Christ, you say yes to Jesus. Yes, I want this.
- 1:18:56I want to be born again. I want to be saved.
- 1:18:58I want to become a disciple of Jesus, a follower."
- 1:19:01And you say that in your heart. It's a heart's
- 1:19:03cry, but you also say it with your mouth. As
- 1:19:06Scripture even tells us in Romans chapter 10,
- 1:19:08you confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ
- 1:19:10is Lord. Believe in your heart. These rays from
- 1:19:12the day said, you shall be saved, for whoever
- 1:19:15will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.
- 1:19:18So you have these beautiful promises as this
- 1:19:20is what you do. After that, then you want to
- 1:19:23follow the Lord and believers' baptisms. There's
- 1:19:25two things you need to do after you receive Christ.
- 1:19:27First of all, you need to tell people. Go and
- 1:19:29tell. Show and tell. Show up and tell. Go and
- 1:19:33tell others, hey, this is how I was, this is
- 1:19:36how I am now, and in between was Him. In between
- 1:19:40was Jesus. And that's why I'm a different person
- 1:19:43today. That's your testimony. Keep it simple
- 1:19:46saying, right? Just tell them what happened.
- 1:19:49You don't have to be a theologian or a Bible
- 1:19:50professor or have the New Testament memorized
- 1:19:53to share your faith. you share your journey where
- 1:19:56you are at this point. Also, just so people understand,
- 1:20:00my experience was that was the beginning. I mean,
- 1:20:03I was all in, I was there, but it's almost like
- 1:20:06I got my pilot's license. Now I have a license
- 1:20:08to learn how to fly. It's not the kickoff. It
- 1:20:11is the kickoff, yeah. This is when the game starts.
- 1:20:13It's not like all of a sudden, you know everything,
- 1:20:15you've got it all together. No, no. No, but that's,
- 1:20:17you know, people… It's the beginning. It is the
- 1:20:19beginning. So, that's what baptism is. It's the
- 1:20:21second piece. So, the first is go and tell. Second
- 1:20:23one is is be baptized. Jesus said, be baptized
- 1:20:27for the remission, the removal of your sins.
- 1:20:30It's a picture of that. It doesn't literally
- 1:20:32remove your sins. You're confessing Jesus and
- 1:20:35repenting of your sins. That's where that happens.
- 1:20:38But then this is the picture of it. And the picture
- 1:20:40is modeling, Romans chapter 6 tells us, buried
- 1:20:43with Christ in baptism. So like Christ died and
- 1:20:47was buried, right? Buried with Christ in baptism,
- 1:20:50you're raised to walk in newness of life. just
- 1:20:52like with Jesus, there's that resurrection. So
- 1:20:55you come up out of that water, not literally
- 1:20:57a different person because you've already made
- 1:20:59that decision in your heart, but this is symbolically
- 1:21:01saying, this is what I'm doing. This is my witness
- 1:21:04to the world. That's why we don't do baptisms
- 1:21:07in private. We invite friends and we invite family.
- 1:21:10We had a party at my house. We invited, we had
- 1:21:12steaks and we ate and drank and had a great time.
- 1:21:16And then we went out and did the baptism. It
- 1:21:18was such a beautiful celebration. And we've got
- 1:21:21people already ready to be baptized again. So
- 1:21:23we're going to be doing this on a regular basis
- 1:21:26here at the church. In fact, I met with Pastor
- 1:21:28Brian this morning and we have both made a commitment.
- 1:21:31We feel an urgency. While people get afraid,
- 1:21:34this is what a Christian witness does to answer
- 1:21:37that guy's question, that lady's question. So
- 1:21:39the Christian witness to the world is that we
- 1:21:43up our game. We raise the bar. We go harder.
- 1:21:46We go stronger. We let fear move us to make a
- 1:21:50bigger difference, not to shy away and hide away,
- 1:21:53not to run away, not to hide, not to go hunker
- 1:21:56down. Preach! It's get out there and get off
- 1:22:00your blessed assurance and go do something for
- 1:22:02the kingdom of God. And so that's our heart.
- 1:22:05And we had a meeting about that this morning
- 1:22:06and he's preaching this weekend because I'll
- 1:22:08be in Murphysboro, Tennessee at a Culture and
- 1:22:11Christianity Conference at Pastor Alan Jackson's
- 1:22:13church. So Pastor Brian's going to go on, and
- 1:22:15I was just lighting a fire. I was just throwing
- 1:22:17fuel on the fire, raising the bar, getting him
- 1:22:20excited. And I said, you know, don't preach out
- 1:22:22of passion, preach out of conviction. Preach
- 1:22:25out of the weightier things, the weightier matters.
- 1:22:27You know, let your heart come through, not just
- 1:22:30your words. So I'm just encouraging him and firing
- 1:22:32him up. I think he's ready to blow up. He's ready
- 1:22:35to go. We're going to have to have a fire retardant
- 1:22:37clothing on in the first thing. No kidding. Play
- 1:22:41one more of these clips because... You know,
- 1:22:43when young people, when they see other young
- 1:22:45people doing something, you know, there's a community
- 1:22:48that they feel much better about joining something.
- 1:22:52And you go to any of these concerts from any
- 1:22:55of the, I mean, you just look at, you know, we've
- 1:22:58been to a couple of them. You got 15, 20 ,000
- 1:23:00people. You are not alone. You're not a freak.
- 1:23:03You're not a weirdo. In fact, quite the opposite.
- 1:23:05And it is saving children from some of the worst
- 1:23:09things that are happening today in our over -connected,
- 1:23:13over -socialized lives. This is a massive gathering.
- 1:23:16More than 5 ,000 people at a Freedom in Jesus
- 1:23:20get together at the University of Cincinnati
- 1:23:24is where this one happened. Hundreds then took
- 1:23:27the next step in their journey and were baptized
- 1:23:30outside of this event. and Trinity Gere are both
- 1:23:36student team members for Unitas who were behind
- 1:23:39the organization of this event and were part
- 1:23:41of the baptism ceremony. It's great to see both
- 1:23:44of you. Thank you so much for being here. So
- 1:23:47Trinity, tell us a little bit about what it felt
- 1:23:49like at this event and what's happening on campus
- 1:23:52there. Yes, I mean, campus has completely shifted
- 1:23:57since Wednesday. Being at the event, being in
- 1:24:00the room, there was true freedom. You could look
- 1:24:03around, people are dancing, they're singing.
- 1:24:05They're not thinking what is my classmate next
- 1:24:08to me thinking. They were truly present in the
- 1:24:10event. I mean, we've seen testimony after testimony.
- 1:24:13I had a girl, a random girl text me and she said
- 1:24:16that she walked into the event with suicidal
- 1:24:19thoughts. She was anxious, she was depressed.
- 1:24:21And it's Friday now and she texted me that. It
- 1:24:25hasn't came back. She's like, I actually got
- 1:24:27free that night. And she said, thank you. And
- 1:24:30she ended up getting baptized that night as well.
- 1:24:32And so that's just one testimony of the 5 ,500.
- 1:24:36college students that were in that arena that
- 1:24:38night. That's remarkable. Is that awesome or
- 1:24:41what? Man, there's such a synergy that happens
- 1:24:43when when Christians come together. It's called
- 1:24:45church. Yes. It can be in a Coliseum, an auditorium.
- 1:24:49It can be aisle four at HEB. And where two or
- 1:24:52more are gathered. There it is. He's there. There
- 1:24:54it is. Before we thank some people for our because
- 1:24:57we are value for value. We love for you to support
- 1:25:00us with your time, talent and treasure for the
- 1:25:02value we bring to you without putting you through
- 1:25:05any subscription hoops or listening to incessant
- 1:25:09ads, because we got the P .O. Box. You can find
- 1:25:11it all at WGTDTdonations .com. You can send anything
- 1:25:17to the P .O. Box. And Natalie Knox sent this
- 1:25:21note, and prayer is powerful. I just want to
- 1:25:26read this. Dear Mr. Curry. Well, right there
- 1:25:28I'm like, okay, I'm old. I am writing this to
- 1:25:31be in obedience, not for clout or attention.
- 1:25:36It feels as if God is pushing me to share this
- 1:25:38story, not a profound one, but still good to
- 1:25:41his glory. Our God is awesome and Jesus could
- 1:25:43be a cooler judge and savior. Nice way to put
- 1:25:46it. Here it goes. I'm living in Nashville. We're
- 1:25:50in a cute house four miles from downtown by Berry
- 1:25:53Hill. Your first appearance on Joe Rogan's podcast,
- 1:25:56I'm listening while I do my daily walk down Drake
- 1:25:59Avenue. You're at the high point of some info
- 1:26:02dump, probably something a little irreverent.
- 1:26:04God stops me in my tracks and says, pray for
- 1:26:07him to find me. If there's an argument over it
- 1:26:11being God versus the Spirit talking, I give zeros,
- 1:26:15S's. Trinity, blah, blah, blah. It was an order
- 1:26:18from on high. I was not going to disobey. Before
- 1:26:22praying, I did give a skeptical shrug, not in
- 1:26:25doubt of God's ability or brother's worthiness,
- 1:26:28Just doubt because people suck at listening even
- 1:26:31when our Father shows up at their doorstep. Fast
- 1:26:34forward to your next appearance on Rogan. I'm
- 1:26:36on the same walk, same street, same expectation,
- 1:26:40except this time you proclaim Jesus Christ as
- 1:26:43your way, truth, and life. At that point, I stopped
- 1:26:46in the same spot I had prayed for you to find
- 1:26:48Jesus, looked up and said, you're good. As someone
- 1:26:53who has been sent to others with a hard message
- 1:26:55on occasion, it delights me to see and hear of
- 1:26:58a brother and sister who listened and came to
- 1:27:00the fold. Sister in Christ, Natalie Knox. Beautiful
- 1:27:04man. Thank you. Thank you for praying for me.
- 1:27:08I know a lot of people have been praying for
- 1:27:10a long, long time, but I just, you know, when
- 1:27:13that comes around, even in the kind of interesting
- 1:27:15language she used to say it. That is beautiful.
- 1:27:18I love it. Beautiful. I want to thank people
- 1:27:21for supporting us. Value for value, you can do
- 1:27:24all kinds of things. You can tell someone about
- 1:27:27the podcast. That is probably the best thing
- 1:27:29you can do. Joey Swink gave us $100. We really
- 1:27:34appreciate that, Joey. As a Noah General listener,
- 1:27:37I'm glad to have found this podcast. Your jingle
- 1:27:40and title is a new life outlook. I guess it means
- 1:27:43the opening, we get to do this. Because of Christ,
- 1:27:45we get to do this. May the Lord continue to bless
- 1:27:48and keep you. Thank you very much. Timothy Hutter,
- 1:27:5577, got the angel numbers there. Happy late birthday,
- 1:28:02Adam. Thank you, Adam and Pastor Jimmy. We look
- 1:28:04forward to this podcast every week. Thank you,
- 1:28:07brother. $65 from Clueless. First time donating
- 1:28:14to WGTDT and I'm overdue for another donation
- 1:28:18to no agenda. Adam, I'm sorry for the loss of
- 1:28:20JCD. Thank you for what you're both doing here
- 1:28:22on We Get To Do This. I work at a public charter
- 1:28:25school and an education for over a decade now.
- 1:28:27I love what I do and working with kids, but admittedly,
- 1:28:30I've been feeling bogged down by all the nonsense
- 1:28:33that is public education in this country. As
- 1:28:36a creative outlet, I recently started a YouTube
- 1:28:38channel at Clueless Casting. It's a fishing channel,
- 1:28:43but it's really more about the stories and it's
- 1:28:45fun for me to do. Please add me to your prayers
- 1:28:47as I'm navigating a difficult internal struggle
- 1:28:49of figuring out where God is calling me to go
- 1:28:52next, whether that is to remain where I am or
- 1:28:54something differently entirely. I love you, bros,
- 1:28:58from Clueless. I love that. This is a hard one,
- 1:29:02because I've struggled with this too. We all
- 1:29:04have. What do you want me to do, God? What happens
- 1:29:08for me is I just keep getting reinforcement,
- 1:29:11and it's from other people. It's from a daily
- 1:29:13devotional you open, and it has something relevant
- 1:29:16to just what you're saying. I think that's all
- 1:29:18planned. Multiples. Yeah, multiples. To hear
- 1:29:20God from multiple angles. Yeah. $50 from Sir
- 1:29:25Andrew Gardner. Cool. I started listening at
- 1:29:29episode 45 after John passed and then went back
- 1:29:32to the beginning and have listened to 1 through
- 1:29:3436 so far and the latest ones mixed in there.
- 1:29:38Listening to the two of you on what I like to
- 1:29:40call His agenda. I look forward to every episode
- 1:29:46more and more each week. Thank you for your courage,
- 1:29:48Andrew Garter. Thank you. And thank you. Thank
- 1:29:49you for sending your value back. Appreciate that.
- 1:29:52Tonya Seaman says, thank you. Twenty five dollars.
- 1:29:57Jim McCaslin, twenty five dollars. Didn't send
- 1:29:59the note. If you send one after the fact, I'd
- 1:30:01be happy to read it. Edward Cota, every single
- 1:30:04show, he's sending us twenty dollars through
- 1:30:06the through a check and through the P .O. box.
- 1:30:08We appreciate that. David Wicker, Sir, By His
- 1:30:11Grace, sent us $11 .22, 1122 Church. We're just
- 1:30:15talking about it. We love the shout out of this
- 1:30:16church, for sure. Stephanie O'Donnell, $5. Nicholas
- 1:30:20Stark, $5. And Cameron Knapp, $5, also sending
- 1:30:24it through a check in the P .O. box. I love checks.
- 1:30:28A handwritten note is good, too. We'll read that
- 1:30:30if you got it. And Dwayne Spellman Jr., always
- 1:30:33with $1 .53. Thank you all so much. We're going
- 1:30:38to expand this. We're really going to start blowing
- 1:30:42this out. In fact, I'm leaving my studio here
- 1:30:44in the Bridge Church studio. It's my mobile rig.
- 1:30:48It is here now. There's other shows we're doing.
- 1:30:51I know a woman, which is, you can get it on the
- 1:30:56Bridge Radio, if you go to bridgefbg .com or
- 1:30:59in the Godcaster app. You can find it there as
- 1:31:02well, along with Hello Fred and all of the great
- 1:31:05music. And man, I'm just so excited about what's
- 1:31:08going on, where we're headed, what the future
- 1:31:09is going to bring. It's awesome. We get to do
- 1:31:13this. We do. Wgtdt .com to support us with your
- 1:31:17value. Wgtdtdonations .com. Brother, will you
- 1:31:21take us home with maybe your daily grind? Yeah.
- 1:31:23Yeah, I'd like to today. Man, just woke up sensing
- 1:31:27some things. Just about the world in general,
- 1:31:29what we talked about today and how it just shakes,
- 1:31:32it feels shaking. I mean, just the world's shaking.
- 1:31:35I feel the earth move under my feet, right? That's
- 1:31:37the whole song. Was that Carole King? It was
- 1:31:39Carole King. So the title of today's Daily Grind
- 1:31:43is Unshakeable Peace. It's found in Psalm 16,
- 1:31:468. It says, I have set the Lord always before
- 1:31:49me because He is at my right hand. I shall not
- 1:31:53be shaken. And here's the title, Unshakeable
- 1:31:56Peace, and it says this, your peace, security,
- 1:31:58and stability in a world that is shaking come
- 1:32:02from knowing that God is near and is as near
- 1:32:05as your right hand. You do not have to live a
- 1:32:09shaky and fearful life when you keep the Lord
- 1:32:11before you. Why? Because steady makes you ready.
- 1:32:15So today, keep the Lord in front of you, before
- 1:32:17you, in prayer, in worship, and time in the Word.
- 1:32:21Just talk to Him in your car or shower. Stay
- 1:32:24with Him. And here's the prayer for today. Father,
- 1:32:27thank you for your nearness. I will not be shaken.
- 1:32:31I will not be afraid. In Jesus' name, amen. Amen.
- 1:32:35Brother, thank you so much. Always a pleasure.
- 1:32:38Shall we come back next week, do it again? Let's
- 1:32:40do it. We get to do this, everybody. We'll see
- 1:32:42you next Wednesday. Bye -bye.
