A 19-year-old, Christian Nathaniel Lopez, is facing capital murder and tampering charges after a botched robbery turned deadly on the Southwest Side. The incident, which began with teens targeting 14-year-old Michael Alvarez Jr., spiraled into a shootout that left Alvarez dead and another suspect, 16-year-old Jeremiah Delgado, fatally wounded. Surveillance footage shows Lopez and Delgado arriving together — Lopez approached Alvarez while Delgado, masked and armed, attacked from behind. Alvarez returned fire, killing Delgado.
