- 0:00Speaker 1: This podcast is recorded on gadagal Land Always was, always
- 0:04Speaker 1: will be Aboriginal Land.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Hey chicks, I'm ol And this is two Roachie show
- 0:15Speaker 2: that she has life lessons and tips don't make you
- 0:18Speaker 2: rich in life. And this is our third episode of
- 0:21Speaker 2: the mid year glow Up series. And today we're talking stylish,
- 0:24Speaker 2: not trendy.
- 0:26Speaker 3: Honestly, so excited.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Yeah, we could talk about this till the tales. This
- 0:30Speaker 2: might be a little bit of a learning for me.
- 0:33Speaker 2: I'm locked in. Yeah, I'm so easily influenced to be honest,
- 0:40Speaker 2: to be on us.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that the majority of people are like
- 0:44Speaker 1: and fashion is so fun and trends are constantly coming
- 0:47Speaker 1: and going, and as well with the Internet, it's like
- 0:51Speaker 1: the ultimate exposure to so many different influences.
- 0:55Speaker 4: If I was like filthy rich and could have a
- 0:58Speaker 4: whole room that was a wardrobe like clueless Hannah Montana
- 1:03Speaker 4: Kardashian thing, I'd be unstoppable.
- 1:07Speaker 2: I want an iPad and a moving wardrobe. And is
- 1:11Speaker 2: that too much to ask? I put that second you now,
- 1:13Speaker 2: how I say my like, I know I've made it
- 1:16Speaker 2: moment will be if And by that I mean like
- 1:19Speaker 2: my rich old lady vibe will be that I can
- 1:21Speaker 2: go and get weekly blow dries. Yeah, I'm gonna put
- 1:25Speaker 2: like mechanical wardrobe. Second, oh my god, yeah, the dream
- 1:30Speaker 2: and get me my chocolate woolen blezer. And then it's
- 1:34Speaker 2: got like a Javis thing being like, good morning, m'amy,
- 1:39Speaker 2: let me get that for you don't know why she's
- 1:41Speaker 2: cock me didn't think that's where we're gonna go. But
- 1:43Speaker 2: as I like it, I'm ficturing like the wardrobe vibe,
- 1:47Speaker 2: im beautying the beast. Yeah.
- 1:50Speaker 5: Yeah, but she was like, oh, let's get dressed.
- 1:53Speaker 2: And like, okay, like he.
- 1:57Speaker 3: Dress me.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Yes, okay, So let's jump straight into it and let's
- 2:03Speaker 2: talk the magic of a good outfit.
- 2:06Speaker 3: It is truly fantastical.
- 2:07Speaker 2: It is like casting a spell. Spell Truly, a good
- 2:16Speaker 2: outfit can upgrade multiple things in your life, socially, personally, professionally, romantically.
- 2:27Speaker 2: Like a good outfit, I think is the life hack
- 2:31Speaker 2: of the century. And a good outfit is in your
- 2:35Speaker 2: head and your perspective, not anyone else's.
- 2:38Speaker 3: Yeah, a good outfit is in the eye of the beholder.
- 2:40Speaker 2: And it's you in the mirror, beholding yourself precisely. You know. So,
- 2:44Speaker 2: studies have actually shown that a good outfit can improve
- 2:47Speaker 2: your mood and even increase performance in a professional setting.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Ups fusinglutely, if I think I look good, the door
- 2:56Speaker 2: has never seen those hinges. Okay, it's kicked off and
- 3:00Speaker 2: I'm living. I am going to put on the best
- 3:04Speaker 2: song in my headphones and I'm going.
- 3:05Speaker 3: To yeah, honestly, like truly.
- 3:10Speaker 2: One instance of this was when the impact of wearing
- 3:13Speaker 2: a lab coat was studied. This is very interesting. So
- 3:19Speaker 2: there was a study about wearing a lab coat and
- 3:21Speaker 2: whether or not it affected your mood and having a
- 3:24Speaker 2: good outfit. So in the experiment, a person wearing a
- 3:27Speaker 2: lab coat showed increased selective attention when given a scientific
- 3:32Speaker 2: task to carry out compared to not wearing the lab.
- 3:36Speaker 3: Coat at all.
- 3:37Speaker 2: So psychologically, wearing an outfit can make you lock in
- 3:43Speaker 2: to whatever you're doing, whether it's life, whether it's a date,
- 3:46Speaker 2: whether it's going and having FuMB on a hike, whether
- 3:49Speaker 2: it's being a scientist. It locks you into the task
- 3:52Speaker 2: that you're doing and you embrace it fully. And I
- 3:57Speaker 2: use this tome a little looser now than five years ago,
- 3:59Speaker 2: but it gives main character energy.
- 4:01Speaker 3: Yeah, I think so.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Yeah, it gives you that physical signal being like all right,
- 4:05Speaker 1: we're on, because I definitely have felt that, Like, you know,
- 4:08Speaker 1: when we come into to know what it is, it's
- 4:09Speaker 1: that sounded old on old on follow that tune.
- 4:13Speaker 3: Yeah, that's very bad.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Yeah, because you know, occasionally we like to come into
- 4:17Speaker 1: the office in our comfies, you know, on a day
- 4:20Speaker 1: when it's super.
- 4:21Speaker 2: But do I ever walk in going like, seize the day, car,
- 4:25Speaker 2: pay DM the vibes are high, let's go out for
- 4:28Speaker 2: a bed. No, No, but that's okay. Life is light
- 4:32Speaker 2: and darkness and shade and shit exactly.
- 4:34Speaker 1: But I do think it definitely has an impact on
- 4:37Speaker 1: your outlook and your mood and your perspective and therefore
- 4:40Speaker 1: the rest of the day.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I know when I've cooked too close to the hunt,
- 4:44Speaker 2: I know I'm going to walk into it and you
- 4:46Speaker 2: guys are gonna be like outfit. I'm like, yeah, I know,
- 4:48Speaker 2: because I love it too. You're bracing for the crime,
- 4:51Speaker 2: for the compliment.
- 4:52Speaker 3: Yeah, you're like about to open the door and you're
- 4:54Speaker 3: like three two one, yeah, silent.
- 4:58Speaker 2: We have we have removing celebrity moving literally stage left action.
- 5:04Speaker 2: But this cyclical logic, you can actually manifest greater confidence
- 5:10Speaker 2: and attention, because if you're already feeling good about yourself,
- 5:13Speaker 2: you're more likely to reflect that in what you're wearing.
- 5:15Speaker 2: And you're much much more likely to feel good about
- 5:19Speaker 2: yourself when you know you're rocking a great fit, and
- 5:22Speaker 2: I think, as well, there's a lot of magic in
- 5:25Speaker 2: that outfit. Not needing to be new. Something that I
- 5:30Speaker 2: would really like rely on a lot previously, was needing
- 5:35Speaker 2: to buy an outfit for it to be a good outfit.
- 5:39Speaker 2: I would say that's absolutely not the case anymore. Sometimes
- 5:42Speaker 2: sometimes maybe good, sometimes maybe shit. There's definitely things that
- 5:45Speaker 2: I bought and been like, lock up, lock up your daughters,
- 5:52Speaker 2: you know Mummy's coming. And there are times when I
- 5:55Speaker 2: bought something I'm like, I actually feel worse. Thank you,
- 5:58Speaker 2: Thank you for that.
- 6:00Speaker 1: No greater betrayal than when an outfit doesn't come together
- 6:03Speaker 1: as you picture it.
- 6:04Speaker 2: You had it in your head and you're like m mmmm,
- 6:07Speaker 2: and then you put it on. Maybe you're in your liver,
- 6:09Speaker 2: your phase, maybe not, and you put it on, You're like,
- 6:14Speaker 2: you have betrayed me, honestly, And the crash out that
- 6:19Speaker 2: follows it because then you gotta go and you got
- 6:24Speaker 2: to dig, and then you go through your entire wardrobe,
- 6:26Speaker 2: the inside becomes the outside of your wardrobe t bedroom,
- 6:29Speaker 2: and then you're just standing there in a pile of
- 6:31Speaker 2: clothes that of that woman on Hoarders in a corner,
- 6:34Speaker 2: crying and laughing at the same time, and then going.
- 6:37Speaker 3: I'm not going, Yeah, I'm not going, I'm not going.
- 6:39Speaker 2: And then you end up pulling out the same outfit
- 6:41Speaker 2: that you wore the other week, that you just really
- 6:45Speaker 2: actually liked and that you actually feel good in, and
- 6:48Speaker 2: you didn't need to spend money, and you probably are
- 6:50Speaker 2: going to forget to return it anyway, I am speaking
- 6:52Speaker 2: from experience. Yeah, anyway, what happened? You just bleged out?
- 7:03Speaker 3: I was transported back there.
- 7:04Speaker 2: Yes, But that's the thing is, I would always think
- 7:08Speaker 2: that I had to buy a new outfit in order
- 7:11Speaker 2: to have to chase that magic spell of a good outfit.
- 7:17Speaker 2: The magical spell of a good outfit does not come
- 7:19Speaker 2: from the outfit being new. It comes from finding out
- 7:21Speaker 2: what you enjoy, and that is through embracing your personal style,
- 7:28Speaker 2: not by shopping or trying to be trendy.
- 7:32Speaker 5: That is like the key.
- 7:52Speaker 2: So what makes a good outfit?
- 7:56Speaker 1: I wish I could give you a formula of like
- 7:58Speaker 1: this shirt plus his pants and these boots equals ten
- 8:01Speaker 1: out of ten. Your appearance is just as much about
- 8:04Speaker 1: your presence and your confidence as it is about the
- 8:07Speaker 1: actual items. So you could be wearing some of the
- 8:10Speaker 1: coolest pieces combined together, but if you don't like them,
- 8:14Speaker 1: and you're only wearing them because you saw them on
- 8:17Speaker 1: Pinterest or they're trending, but you don't feel comfortable and
- 8:20Speaker 1: you don't actually genuinely think they're cool, that shows through.
- 8:23Speaker 2: I think also trendy items at the moment, because I
- 8:26Speaker 2: was having a little lucky on the weekend and I
- 8:28Speaker 2: couldn't help but think a lot of the things that
- 8:30Speaker 2: are trendy at the moment are really hard to style.
- 8:34Speaker 3: Yeah, they're very.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Like individual pieces that doesn't necessarily work like universally a robe,
- 8:42Speaker 1: and they're very like of a certain era and of
- 8:45Speaker 1: a certain time, which might be your vibe.
- 8:48Speaker 2: No, I do think that's we had this conversation years ago,
- 8:53Speaker 2: and it's when there's like a statement piece that becomes
- 8:56Speaker 2: the trending piece, it becomes too much of a capsule
- 8:59Speaker 2: in time. And my example of this is throwback was
- 9:03Speaker 2: the House of Sonny cardigans. Do you remember the House
- 9:06Speaker 2: of Sonny graphic knit cardigans were everywhere gorgeous. Nothing against them,
- 9:13Speaker 2: but they were such a representation of time that once
- 9:18Speaker 2: that trend was over, which we know these things are
- 9:21Speaker 2: a cycle that moves incredibly quickly. Now, is that you
- 9:25Speaker 2: would not be seen like so many people stopped wearing
- 9:27Speaker 2: them because it was then.
- 9:30Speaker 3: Old twenty lockdown. Yeah, that's what though.
- 9:34Speaker 2: Kendall Jenner wore a House of Sunny dress and then
- 9:36Speaker 2: the knits and all of that, and you it's such
- 9:39Speaker 2: a distinct, unique and statement piece that to wear it
- 9:43Speaker 2: is such like a bang.
- 9:45Speaker 5: That was that year.
- 9:46Speaker 3: Blah blah blah blah.
- 9:47Speaker 2: But did you see I know you saw this because
- 9:49Speaker 2: I sent it to you. Yeah, the fabric belt from
- 9:54Speaker 2: soupe Prey is back on Princess Polly. Surely supe Pray's
- 9:59Speaker 2: got to have so pray, come get your seas, like,
- 10:03Speaker 2: don't let these young whipper snappers be doing that to you. Honestly,
- 10:07Speaker 2: if I need to pray now that the material belts
- 10:11Speaker 2: are back in quotes, I need a fluo green video
- 10:16Speaker 2: killed the radio Star graphic.
- 10:18Speaker 5: Shirt on a baby team.
- 10:23Speaker 3: I would wear that shit.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Yeah, remember they had like the singlet dresses with like
- 10:28Speaker 1: the huge armhole, and then you would have like an
- 10:31Speaker 1: exposed bra. You could have the video star one and
- 10:35Speaker 1: I'll have the like dirty Dirty bass.
- 10:38Speaker 3: Or whatever one.
- 10:39Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe maybe Galaxy Galaxy times. We're gonna get the
- 10:44Speaker 2: We're gonna get like the wet pleather legging soon.
- 10:47Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 10:48Speaker 1: So that's the thing, Like trends do come and go,
- 10:51Speaker 1: and I think that's okay if you see yourself in
- 10:54Speaker 1: a trend and you genuinely like it.
- 10:56Speaker 2: But the other thing was that's probably a time capsule.
- 10:58Speaker 2: More is like maybe a little bit gentler, but like
- 11:01Speaker 2: the cowboy boots. Cowboy boots were definitely more of a
- 11:04Speaker 2: trending boot I would say three years ago, and they
- 11:07Speaker 2: were definitely like, you know, you would get them pink
- 11:10Speaker 2: and green and blue and all these different colors, and
- 11:13Speaker 2: then now it's more like a biker boot. But I
- 11:16Speaker 2: loved the cowboy boot trend that I still wear mine.
- 11:20Speaker 2: That it's like you can see yourself in trends.
- 11:22Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly. But I think that's the thing.
- 11:25Speaker 1: It's understanding what your style is and how these trending
- 11:30Speaker 1: items can fit into your existing aesthetic and your style
- 11:34Speaker 1: and what you genuinely like, so that you will wear
- 11:36Speaker 1: them beyond the trend and not feel like you're not
- 11:40Speaker 1: stylish or you're not being true to yourself, or like
- 11:42Speaker 1: it was a waste of money, because that's the worst
- 11:45Speaker 1: thing when you're doing a clear out of your wardrobe
- 11:48Speaker 1: and you see these pieces that you were like, I
- 11:50Speaker 1: feel like that's what I've done in the past.
- 11:51Speaker 2: I've been like rebrand, Yeah, I want to be I
- 11:55Speaker 2: want to be and it would be like you want
- 11:56Speaker 2: to be this character that's like I want to look
- 11:58Speaker 2: like I'm in London in a shop and really quirky, and.
- 12:02Speaker 3: But that is so like of the internet. Now though,
- 12:07Speaker 3: what's the Mafia girl?
- 12:09Speaker 2: Yeah, mobile wife really popular esthetic? Can we actually do
- 12:18Speaker 2: that Mafia mmmy? Just just because I think everyone will
- 12:22Speaker 2: look really hot and I just get to watch exactly,
- 12:25Speaker 2: Oh my god, Mafia Mummy wife.
- 12:29Speaker 5: That's look.
- 12:30Speaker 2: I am an old man, but it should have been
- 12:33Speaker 2: Mafia Mummy.
- 12:34Speaker 3: He should have been.
- 12:35Speaker 1: But I think, like, do you have pieces in your
- 12:38Speaker 1: wardrobe or even when you're shopping with a friend and
- 12:41Speaker 1: they pull something out and they're like, that's so you.
- 12:44Speaker 1: I think that's what you want to strive for. And
- 12:47Speaker 1: you know what those pieces and silhouettes and colors and
- 12:50Speaker 1: materials or brands are, and that can be kind of
- 12:54Speaker 1: your little barrier point. And I think it's okay to
- 12:57Speaker 1: experiment and have fun with fashion, but it's like, how
- 13:01Speaker 1: can you do that? Could you maybe borrow it from
- 13:03Speaker 1: a friend, or could you experiment with like an accessory
- 13:06Speaker 1: that you get from an op shop or something like that, but.
- 13:09Speaker 3: You know kind of what your.
- 13:11Speaker 2: Uniform, your personal style uniform. And like I recently bought
- 13:16Speaker 2: a purse in when I was over in Copenhagen, and
- 13:18Speaker 2: it was like this vintage person It was pretty penny,
- 13:21Speaker 2: but when I show people, the first thing everyone said
- 13:25Speaker 2: when I showed them was, oh my god, it's so you.
- 13:28Speaker 2: And I think that's like the highest of highest compliments
- 13:31Speaker 2: when it comes to style and clothes and being able
- 13:35Speaker 2: to have like your personal character's uniform. And like, I
- 13:40Speaker 2: can definitely now say that there's my go tos. And
- 13:43Speaker 2: it doesn't mean I don't play your experiment around with
- 13:45Speaker 2: different things, but I can definitely there sit here and say,
- 13:50Speaker 2: like I know if I want to cast the spell,
- 13:54Speaker 2: I know the elements that I'm pulling on to do.
- 13:57Speaker 1: So yeah, and I think that's what is so because
- 14:00Speaker 1: in those moments when you do wake up and you're
- 14:03Speaker 1: having a bit of a shit day, or you're going
- 14:05Speaker 1: into work and you've got an important meeting, or you're
- 14:07Speaker 1: going on a date, or you're going to a party,
- 14:10Speaker 1: you know what silhouettes and pieces you can wear to
- 14:12Speaker 1: feel confident and feel like your best self, because it
- 14:15Speaker 1: does have an impact on more than just at being
- 14:18Speaker 1: an outfit.
- 14:19Speaker 3: Yeah, it's own superpower in a way exactly.
- 14:22Speaker 2: And I do whenever there's been maybe something that I'm
- 14:25Speaker 2: nervous for or maybe I felt a bit anxious about,
- 14:29Speaker 2: whether it's a job interview or doing something where I've
- 14:32Speaker 2: maybe felt a little bit out of my depth, putting
- 14:35Speaker 2: on a fuck off strong outfit has been that thing
- 14:38Speaker 2: to be like, no, bitch, I can do this, Like
- 14:40Speaker 2: I've got this and I love it. So if you're
- 15:02Speaker 2: wanting to embody stylish and not trendy, it starts with
- 15:07Speaker 2: understanding you know the difference between style and trend And again,
- 15:13Speaker 2: neither of these are bad words, Like to be trendy
- 15:17Speaker 2: is not necessarily saying, you know, if you are wearing
- 15:20Speaker 2: a lot of things that are trending at the moment.
- 15:22Speaker 2: We're not being like booh y, you know.
- 15:24Speaker 1: Get you She Yeah, that's not what we're saying, not
- 15:28Speaker 1: at all.
- 15:29Speaker 2: I do think both of these things have a very
- 15:31Speaker 2: strong and important place when we're talking about fashion. And
- 15:35Speaker 2: I'm also not sitting here as like someone I would
- 15:38Speaker 2: categorize as a fashion girlie. I'm just someone who likes
- 15:42Speaker 2: the shoppies, you know. So our word is also not
- 15:45Speaker 2: Bible but style when you look up, its definition relates
- 15:49Speaker 2: to your own self expression. It's timeless and uniquely your own,
- 15:54Speaker 2: while still having awareness of what's in fashion right now,
- 15:58Speaker 2: whereas being trendy, on the other hand, is following what's current,
- 16:04Speaker 2: popular and potentially at the height of its reciprocation within fashion.
- 16:11Speaker 2: So this can sometimes come at a cost to your
- 16:15Speaker 2: own personal taste and expression when you don't know when
- 16:19Speaker 2: to distinguish whether you like something or if it's just
- 16:22Speaker 2: a trend. And girl, I still have that every day
- 16:26Speaker 2: every day.
- 16:26Speaker 3: And constant bay.
- 16:27Speaker 2: Yeah, like sometimes I'm like, I don't know if I
- 16:30Speaker 2: like that or if it's just a trend. Because there
- 16:32Speaker 2: is exposure therapy when you start seeing things everywhere and
- 16:35Speaker 2: you start seeing it on your Pinterest and on social
- 16:38Speaker 2: media or even just walking down the street. You can
- 16:40Speaker 2: be a little bit like, hmmm, do I like it?
- 16:43Speaker 2: And it is really tricky to kind of know the difference.
- 16:47Speaker 2: So when it comes to trends, there are actually two types.
- 16:50Speaker 2: There's natural and manufactured. So natural trends are born organically
- 16:55Speaker 2: and often slow over time, from a genuine desire to
- 16:58Speaker 2: refresh what you're wearing, doing, or talking about.
- 17:02Speaker 5: It can start with.
- 17:03Speaker 2: Everyday people or online communities, which then influence the rest
- 17:07Speaker 2: of the world, or it can trickle down from like
- 17:09Speaker 2: runways and the public eye to us. Manufactured trends, on
- 17:13Speaker 2: the other hand, happen when a new thing is pushed
- 17:17Speaker 2: quite suddenly, and this tends to be by brands or
- 17:21Speaker 2: forecasting agencies. I feel like the strongest example of this
- 17:24Speaker 2: would have been the maxidnim skirt. Oh yeah, overnight, it
- 17:30Speaker 2: just seemed like maxidnim skirts were everywhere, And I think
- 17:34Speaker 2: it was this natural development from you know, the two
- 17:38Speaker 2: thousands and having the two thousands back. But I don't
- 17:40Speaker 2: think we actually saw this trend very much in pop culture.
- 17:46Speaker 2: It like, I don't think we naturally saw this from
- 17:49Speaker 2: runway to celebrity to store. It really seemed like overnight,
- 17:54Speaker 2: bang get to denim Maxi's yeah, and like used to
- 17:59Speaker 2: have yours, and you still wear yours, you know. But
- 18:02Speaker 2: I don't think there's a many stores right now that
- 18:06Speaker 2: would be stocking yet, nor do I think there's too
- 18:08Speaker 2: many people even wearing theirs anymore. And so I think
- 18:11Speaker 2: that's a good example because you liked it and really
- 18:15Speaker 2: liked it and still wear that trend because it is.
- 18:18Speaker 1: Like very nineties two thousands, but could even have like
- 18:22Speaker 1: a seventies boho vibe, which is very much in like
- 18:25Speaker 1: the aesthetics that I always like anyway.
- 18:27Speaker 2: Yeah, but there's just these trends that sometimes I think,
- 18:31Speaker 2: we go, what when did that come back? And other
- 18:34Speaker 2: example bandage dresses, Oh my god, that's back right, and
- 18:38Speaker 2: it's kind of like wait, what that felt really quick?
- 18:42Speaker 2: So sometimes if you do have that feeling, it's not
- 18:46Speaker 2: just in your head like it has been. Brands and
- 18:50Speaker 2: you know, forecasting agencies want to push different things because
- 18:54Speaker 2: if the trends only stayed the same, then you don't
- 18:57Speaker 2: need to buy anything new. Yeah, and then how's anyone?
- 19:00Speaker 2: How are they all going to make money?
- 19:03Speaker 5: Yeah, that's why.
- 19:04Speaker 1: And we follow a lot of accounts like this from
- 19:07Speaker 1: through our work. But that's why I do like following
- 19:09Speaker 1: accounts like data but make it fashion, or even looking
- 19:12Speaker 1: at the Pinterest predicts report at the end of every year,
- 19:15Speaker 1: or there's that one content creator and I can't remember
- 19:18Speaker 1: a name, so we can put a link in the
- 19:20Speaker 1: show notes. But she analyzes micro trends that have already
- 19:23Speaker 1: ended up in landfill because they share the data and
- 19:28Speaker 1: the search terms for particular items. And I feel like
- 19:32Speaker 1: even seeing that can help you be like, oh wait,
- 19:34Speaker 1: like there is a reason why I'm seeing this everywhere,
- 19:37Speaker 1: or why all of a sudden have an urge to
- 19:40Speaker 1: buy blue eyeshadow.
- 19:41Speaker 2: Yeah, And I will say this until I am blue
- 19:43Speaker 2: in the face, because it quite literally changed the way
- 19:45Speaker 2: I think about shopping. But if you are unsure about
- 19:49Speaker 2: whether or not you want to buy a trend a
- 19:52Speaker 2: trending fashion item, ask yourself, if no one was going
- 19:55Speaker 2: to see me in this, would I still buy it?
- 19:59Speaker 2: And it made me realize how many things I've bought
- 20:01Speaker 2: in my life purely because someone was going to see
- 20:03Speaker 2: me in it, and not because I actually genuinely liked it.
- 20:07Speaker 2: And that makes me really sad, because that's, you know,
- 20:10Speaker 2: not necessarily good for my confidence, nor the planet, nor
- 20:15Speaker 2: my bank account. So understanding that lesson is like was
- 20:20Speaker 2: such a game change. And I was like, I felt
- 20:22Speaker 2: like in the cartoons when they like have one of
- 20:25Speaker 2: those coaleidoscope realizations and they're like oh wow, yeah, and
- 20:30Speaker 2: it really does help because I go, if no one's
- 20:32Speaker 2: going to see me, am I just trying to invent
- 20:34Speaker 2: a character? Again? Yeah? Do I just need to dovem
- 20:38Speaker 2: in here? Do I just need to go do ten
- 20:39Speaker 2: star jumps and be like okay man, that's sorry.
- 20:43Speaker 3: Yeah, so true.
- 20:44Speaker 1: And what I love about fashion and style as well
- 20:47Speaker 1: is that so many of the ways that you can
- 20:49Speaker 1: embrace your own style or play around with sole doesn't
- 20:52Speaker 1: actually involve spending money or buying anything new.
- 20:56Speaker 3: It can be.
- 20:57Speaker 1: About styling, styling and com buying different pieces.
- 21:00Speaker 3: So that the Internet is full of.
- 21:02Speaker 1: Different strategies and tactics on how to do this, But
- 21:04Speaker 1: one of them is sandwich dressing sounds delicious, So essentially
- 21:09Speaker 1: you think of your entire outfit like a sandwich. So
- 21:12Speaker 1: there's the top and bottom elements, which are the bread,
- 21:16Speaker 1: and then you have the middle part, which is your
- 21:18Speaker 1: sandwich filling. So the bread should look alike in some way,
- 21:22Speaker 1: just like they would a sandwich. Maybe they're the same color,
- 21:25Speaker 1: maybe they're a similar material or silhouette. And then the filling,
- 21:30Speaker 1: so the middle piece of your outfit can create some
- 21:32Speaker 1: sort of contrast between that top and bottom. Also using
- 21:35Speaker 1: the third piece rule, so you can break down all
- 21:39Speaker 1: of your best outfits into three main parts. Basic necessities
- 21:43Speaker 1: like your pants and a top qualify as the first
- 21:46Speaker 1: and second element, So the third element is there to
- 21:49Speaker 1: juzz things up and I guess make it feel a
- 21:51Speaker 1: little bit more different and interesting and unique. So if
- 21:54Speaker 1: you're wearing blue jeans and a white T shirt, maybe
- 21:56Speaker 1: you would have a scarf tied around your neck, or
- 21:59Speaker 1: a fun pair of earrings, or a cute cap or
- 22:02Speaker 1: a fun pair of boots and thinking about it like that.
- 22:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I do like that. I do also think we're
- 22:07Speaker 2: seeing more coverage and inspiration on color combos and mixing
- 22:12Speaker 2: up colors that you wouldn't typically pair together. And that's
- 22:15Speaker 2: a great way to style and experiment with things that
- 22:18Speaker 2: you already have in your wardrobe that feels like a
- 22:21Speaker 2: new outfit because you've never worn those items together. But yeah,
- 22:26Speaker 2: I really like all of those what's your way to
- 22:28Speaker 2: spice up an outfit if it feels a bit flat.
- 22:30Speaker 3: Definitely accessories.
- 22:32Speaker 1: Yeah, love a good accessory, And I think my mum
- 22:37Speaker 1: has always been a big fan of accessories as well,
- 22:40Speaker 1: So I definitely think like the more the better, Like
- 22:42Speaker 1: I love a handful of rings and big earrings and
- 22:45Speaker 1: stacking necklaces. I just think that if you're wearing like
- 22:48Speaker 1: an all black outfit, but you have a lot of
- 22:50Speaker 1: fun jewelry and accessories on, like it just instantly makes
- 22:54Speaker 1: it feel unique and fun.
- 22:56Speaker 2: Yeah. I want to wrap this episode actually with a
- 22:59Speaker 2: little piece of homework, and it's that when you put
- 23:04Speaker 2: an outfit on, I want everyone to write down they're
- 23:07Speaker 2: five fuck me outfits that when they put it on,
- 23:12Speaker 2: they're like, fuck me, yeah, nailed it, And that you
- 23:17Speaker 2: need to keep documenting that because half the time you
- 23:21Speaker 2: feel like you have nothing to wear because you don't
- 23:23Speaker 2: remember what you have in your wardrobe. You know, there's
- 23:26Speaker 2: so many studies that show that we forget majority of
- 23:30Speaker 2: the things that we own, and so like, how many
- 23:32Speaker 2: times do you go rummaging through your wardrobe and you go,
- 23:34Speaker 2: oh my god, I forgot I had that. So documenting
- 23:37Speaker 2: your wardrobe and your outfits is how you embrace stylish
- 23:40Speaker 2: not trendy, and how you can go all right that
- 23:44Speaker 2: we're going out. What are we got?
- 23:47Speaker 1: Yeah, create a folder on your phone exactly, you're just
- 23:49Speaker 1: the wearing app.
- 23:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:50Speaker 5: Whatever.
- 23:51Speaker 2: So when you like an outfit, take a photo of it,
- 23:55Speaker 2: and then you can actually pull yourself out of the
- 23:58Speaker 2: fit and paste it into your notes up and then
- 24:01Speaker 2: you've got a little directory of all your favorite outfits
- 24:05Speaker 2: for free.
- 24:05Speaker 3: It's the closest thing we'll get to share.
- 24:07Speaker 2: It's the closest thing we'll get to the share and
- 24:09Speaker 2: Hannah Montana wardrobe and for now.
- 24:11Speaker 3: I'll take it absolutely well.
- 24:13Speaker 2: That is a wrap for today's episode of Two Broke Chicks.
- 24:16Speaker 2: Love you, miss you, kissed you bye. We'll see you
- 24:19Speaker 2: back for episode four.
- 24:20Speaker 3: Bye bye,
