- 0:08Speaker 1: Scandal and vice, or sugar and spice? It's naughty but
- 0:13Speaker 1: nice with Rob Welcome to the Naughty But Nice Show.
- 0:16Speaker 1: I'm your host, Rob Shooter. It is Friday. We have
- 0:19Speaker 1: a ton of gossip to get to. Corey's off today.
- 0:22Speaker 1: He's in Italy. Ooh, lovely. I know. With his Joey.
- 0:25Speaker 1: So the two of them are having a fabulous vacation.
- 0:28Speaker 1: If you're listening to us, hello, hello, hello, you too.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Let's jump into the show. What time is it, my friends?
- 0:34Speaker 1: It is Tea time. Big story at the top of
- 0:37Speaker 1: the show. Jake Reiner is opening up about the rage
- 0:43Speaker 1: and grief he felt after his parents, Rob and Michelle,
- 0:47Speaker 1: were murdered. Jake is breaking his silence eight months. It
- 0:52Speaker 1: was eight months ago after the brutal deaths of his parents,
- 0:55Speaker 1: Hollywood director Rob Reiner and photographer Michelle. I met Michelle
- 1:00Speaker 1: a few times. My goodness, what a class act she is.
- 1:03Speaker 1: She really was an amazing person. Jake, who is now
- 1:06Speaker 1: 34 years old, just 34 years old, said the following quote.
- 1:11Speaker 1: It feels like eight years and eight minutes. It's amazing
- 1:14Speaker 1: how that happens, isn't it? When something really, really awful happens,
- 1:19Speaker 1: it feels like it happens every single second, doesn't it?
- 1:22Speaker 1: You replay it over and over and over in your mind.
- 1:25Speaker 1: And yet at the same time, it could feel like
- 1:27Speaker 1: it was years ago. Have you ever had that experience
- 1:30Speaker 1: when it feels like it happened right now, But yet
- 1:32Speaker 1: it also feels like it is part of a past story.
- 1:36Speaker 1: That is how Jake is feeling. He described waking up
- 1:41Speaker 1: every morning confronted by this reality. You go to sleep.
- 1:46Speaker 1: You think it's a nightmare. You wake up the next
- 1:49Speaker 1: morning and you have to remind yourself, my parents have
- 1:52Speaker 1: been murdered. His brother Nick, who is 32, so Nick
- 1:57Speaker 1: who is two years younger, Then Jake has pleaded not
- 2:01Speaker 1: guilty to murdering the parents. Jake admits that he feels rage, R-A-G-E, rage,
- 2:10Speaker 1: over how powerless he was to prevent the tragedy. He said, quote,
- 2:16Speaker 1: I lost my parents and then Nick was arrested. Now
- 2:22Speaker 1: it's just me and Romy, his sister. His sister has
- 2:26Speaker 1: not spoken out. He added that his parents, quote, never
- 2:31Speaker 1: stopped helping Nick. Nick, as we now know, had a
- 2:35Speaker 1: lot of troubles, a lot of mental health issues, a
- 2:39Speaker 1: lot of substance abuse issues. The parents were aware of this,
- 2:43Speaker 1: and they tried to help him. They gave him all
- 2:45Speaker 1: the love any parent could possibly give a child, and
- 2:49Speaker 1: now he has been accused of murdering them. He sits
- 2:52Speaker 1: in jail. I read the court documents very, very closely.
- 2:57Speaker 1: They claim that he lay in wait. That's a quote,
- 3:01Speaker 1: lay in wait, which means he was waiting for them
- 3:04Speaker 1: at their home to return from Conan O'Brien's holiday party.
- 3:10Speaker 1: And then he would murder them is what has been alleged.
- 3:14Speaker 1: And this was a brutal, brutal murder. In fact, Jake
- 3:20Speaker 1: said his sister Romney called him saying, dad's dead and
- 3:24Speaker 1: we can't find mom. There was so much blood, There
- 3:28Speaker 1: was so much mayhem in that bedroom where they slept,
- 3:31Speaker 1: where their throats were slit, that the mother, Michelle, who
- 3:36Speaker 1: was in bed next to her husband, Rob, they didn't
- 3:39Speaker 1: even know she was there. There was so much blood.
- 3:42Speaker 1: They saw Rob. They saw the blood everywhere. And then
- 3:44Speaker 1: they searched for Michelle. Michelle was lying next to her husband,
- 3:49Speaker 1: also dead. Jake did this interview with a local ABC affiliate.
- 3:54Speaker 1: It is now being picked up everywhere. You're going to
- 3:56Speaker 1: see clips of it on Good Morning America and all
- 3:59Speaker 1: the ABC shows, all the ABC channels. It is a really,
- 4:03Speaker 1: really stunning interview. I'm not sure. Eight months, just eight
- 4:07Speaker 1: months after this happened, I'm just not sure if I
- 4:13Speaker 1: could do that. I don't know if I could sit
- 4:15Speaker 1: down and do an interview. He looks very composed. Clearly,
- 4:19Speaker 1: clearly very upset. Clearly very emotional. But he wants to
- 4:23Speaker 1: tell his story. This is a really interesting lesson here.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Because I think it's so easy to judge people when
- 4:28Speaker 1: they talk to the press, when they talk to people
- 4:30Speaker 1: like me. It was actually Diane Sawyer. I was flying
- 4:33Speaker 1: to Prague with Diane Sawyer. And we were chatting on
- 4:37Speaker 1: the flight. We were going together to do an interview.
- 4:40Speaker 1: And we were in the airport and we were chatting away.
- 4:43Speaker 1: And I asked Diane... Why do people talk to you
- 4:48Speaker 1: after natural disasters, after murder, after something awful happens in
- 4:53Speaker 1: their life? Why do they want to sit down with
- 4:56Speaker 1: you on ABC and do a Good Morning America, maybe
- 4:59Speaker 1: even a primetime special? Why? Why? Do you pay them? No,
- 5:03Speaker 1: it wasn't about money. It's never about money. It is
- 5:07Speaker 1: about everyone has a story. That's what Diane told me.
- 5:11Speaker 1: She said, everybody has a story. By nature, human beings
- 5:16Speaker 1: are storytellers. Going back to the cavemen, if you look
- 5:19Speaker 1: on the caves, they're telling stories. They're using drawings. The
- 5:22Speaker 1: Egyptians did it on their tombs. We all have a
- 5:25Speaker 1: story and we want to tell it. We want to
- 5:29Speaker 1: tell our side of the story. And the best interviewers
- 5:32Speaker 1: like Diane Sawyer are the ones that are smart enough
- 5:35Speaker 1: to shut up and listen. You don't have to ask
- 5:38Speaker 1: that many questions. Think about it. If you've got a
- 5:40Speaker 1: friend who's dying to tell you something and you go
- 5:43Speaker 1: for a drink, the best thing you can do is
- 5:46Speaker 1: shut up. Sit there. Let them talk. Let people tell
- 5:50Speaker 1: their stories. It is part of healing. It is part
- 5:52Speaker 1: of growth. It is part of feeling better about even
- 5:56Speaker 1: the darkest, darkest, darkest hours. Really, that's what therapy is about.
- 6:01Speaker 1: As a Brit, we don't really invest very much in
- 6:04Speaker 1: therapy at all. Certainly not people my age. Maybe the
- 6:06Speaker 1: younger generation does now. And so you bottled it up
- 6:09Speaker 1: inside you. I had nobody to tell. It was really,
- 6:13Speaker 1: really difficult. I had to learn. I'm so glad I
- 6:15Speaker 1: did when I came to America. Express yourself. Tell your stories.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Do not bottle it up, even if it is something horrific.
- 6:24Speaker 1: A story shared will really, really help. And so let's
- 6:28Speaker 1: try and not judge Jake here. Let's try and see
- 6:34Speaker 1: this through his eyes. Something really traumatic happened in his family.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Something I hope never, ever, ever, ever happens to anybody else.
- 6:43Speaker 1: And now he's going to tell his side of the story.
- 6:46Speaker 1: It is important for him to do this. It's important
- 6:48Speaker 1: for his parents' legacy for him to do this. He's
- 6:52Speaker 1: in a Shakespearean, tragic situation, him and his sister. What
- 6:56Speaker 1: do they do? with their brother. They lost their parents
- 7:00Speaker 1: and they lost their brother pretty much on the same day.
- 7:04Speaker 1: They're not supporting their brother. There was a big, big
- 7:08Speaker 1: debate that I think we broke first on the Naughty
- 7:10Speaker 1: But Nice show that Nick initially hired a high profile,
- 7:15Speaker 1: a high powered lawyer who was very expensive. Who was
- 7:18Speaker 1: paying for that? Nick's 32. Never had a job, really.
- 7:22Speaker 1: He's done a lot of odd jobs with his parents.
- 7:24Speaker 1: His dad being such a huge director in Hollywood, such
- 7:27Speaker 1: a A big powerhouse got him little jobs here and there,
- 7:31Speaker 1: but he basically lived in his mom and dad's pool house.
- 7:34Speaker 1: And so he didn't have the money for that lawyer.
- 7:36Speaker 1: That lawyer went away and then he had a public prosecutor.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Now I think that big lawyer is back, but who's paying? Well,
- 7:42Speaker 1: what's back now is the $ 1. 5 million trust fund. After
- 7:45Speaker 1: the parents died, all the kids got this trust fund.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Can he use it? A judge is going to decide
- 7:51Speaker 1: that at the moment. The answer is no. But they
- 7:53Speaker 1: are appealing that. There's a slasher clause in LA that
- 7:57Speaker 1: you can't kill somebody and then use that inheritance. No,
- 8:01Speaker 1: you can't have that. However, Nick's lawyer is saying he's
- 8:04Speaker 1: innocent until proven guilty. So why can't he use this money? Very,
- 8:08Speaker 1: very complicated. Legally complicated, but I think even more emotionally complicated.
- 8:14Speaker 1: This is a real tough one, Jake. You're a brave guy,
- 8:19Speaker 1: my friend. The interview is conducted with such grace, such dignity.
- 8:23Speaker 1: It's your story to tell. Which brings us to our
- 8:26Speaker 1: poll question of the day. Jake Reiner is opening up
- 8:30Speaker 1: about his rage, his absolute rage, but also his grief.
- 8:34Speaker 1: They can coexist at the same time. You can be
- 8:36Speaker 1: really sad and really rageful. You can actually be really
- 8:39Speaker 1: happy and really sad at the same time. The world
- 8:42Speaker 1: is not black and white. It's shades and shades of grey.
- 8:45Speaker 1: So after his parents' murder, Rob and Michelle, let's say
- 8:48Speaker 1: their names and remember them. Rob and Michelle, after their murder,
- 8:52Speaker 1: full of rage, full of grief, did a new interview.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Are you surprised? Are you surprised he did this interview?
- 8:58Speaker 1: Are you surprised he sat down? I didn't see this coming.
- 9:01Speaker 1: I've got to tip my hat to ABC. They are
- 9:03Speaker 1: getting all the big interviews. Hayden Panettiere's mom. Now this interview,
- 9:08Speaker 1: it is something. But are you surprised that Jake is
- 9:12Speaker 1: telling his story? Go vote on our ex-page, our Twitter
- 9:16Speaker 1: page at Naughty Nice Rob, our Facebook page is Naughty Gossip,
- 9:20Speaker 1: and be sure to check back on Monday to hear
- 9:23Speaker 1: your results. OK, moving along. Dolly Parton's unconventional marriage to
- 9:28Speaker 1: Carl Dean worked beautifully for 60 years. Dolly Parton and
- 9:32Speaker 1: Carl built a marriage that ignored the Hollywood rules, but
- 9:36Speaker 1: it lasted six decades. Maybe that's why it lasted. A
- 9:40Speaker 1: biographer called Randy Schmidt... says the couple lived fiercely independent lives.
- 9:46Speaker 1: And Dean avoided the spotlight at all costs. While Dolly
- 9:49Speaker 1: travelled and performed, he wanted no part of the spotlight.
- 9:53Speaker 1: She famously joked that their secret was to stay home.
- 9:58Speaker 1: That's what kept them together. they spent a lot of
- 10:01Speaker 1: time together you see these couples don't you always on
- 10:03Speaker 1: red carpets always out on red carpets looking for publicity
- 10:08Speaker 1: if i see gail king who's single but if i
- 10:10Speaker 1: see gail king got another red carpet i don't think
- 10:13Speaker 1: There is an event in New York City or maybe
- 10:15Speaker 1: around the world that Gayle King does not go to.
- 10:17Speaker 1: She was even on Jeff Bezos' rocket. Gayle, it's a lot. Now,
- 10:21Speaker 1: if you do that as a couple, Dolly thinks that
- 10:24Speaker 1: is not a good idea at all. The biggest heartbreak
- 10:28Speaker 1: of this marriage is they didn't have children. Dolly admitted
- 10:31Speaker 1: that she felt really sad after she learned that she
- 10:34Speaker 1: couldn't be a mother, but she embraced caring for her siblings.
- 10:39Speaker 1: She was 12 children, 11 boys. Brothers and sisters, Anne Dolly, nieces, nephews,
- 10:45Speaker 1: other children. She had her imagination library, which was just
- 10:50Speaker 1: the most wonderful thing. Gave away hundreds of millions of books.
- 10:54Speaker 1: Her husband died just last year, 2025. Now, some people
- 10:57Speaker 1: are saying she died of a broken heart. We know
- 11:00Speaker 1: that's partially true. We also know that she has had cancer.
- 11:03Speaker 1: And this unconventional marriage, though, it clearly worked until the
- 11:07Speaker 1: very end. I like this. In a world where we're
- 11:10Speaker 1: all so thirsty on social media, like me, like me,
- 11:13Speaker 1: like me, like me, follow me, follow me, follow me,
- 11:14Speaker 1: follow me. Dolly was the opposite when it came to
- 11:17Speaker 1: her private life. I'm a little bit like this with Bruce.
- 11:20Speaker 1: I'm aware that a lot of people listening to our podcast,
- 11:23Speaker 1: and I'm very grateful you're here. Hello, hello, hello. are
- 11:25Speaker 1: Barry Manilow fans. My husband writes songs with Barry Manilow,
- 11:29Speaker 1: but more than that, they're best friends. They've known each
- 11:31Speaker 1: other for, I think, 50, maybe 60 years. They met
- 11:36Speaker 1: when neither one of them were very successful living in
- 11:39Speaker 1: New York. Barry was working in the mailroom of CBS
- 11:42Speaker 1: and Bruce was a waiter. And they met at a
- 11:45Speaker 1: party and they started to write songs together. The rest
- 11:48Speaker 1: is history. Barry's biggest hit, Copacabana, was written with my husband, Bruce.
- 11:53Speaker 1: And so I'm aware that Bruce and my relationship, we've
- 11:57Speaker 1: been together a really long time, like 30 years, 30 years.
- 12:01Speaker 1: I don't even think I had a boyfriend before Bruce,
- 12:04Speaker 1: maybe a few. Kisses here and there. Shh, don't tell him.
- 12:07Speaker 1: But Bruce is like my first boyfriend, and I love him.
- 12:10Speaker 1: We have a brilliant relationship. But as my celebrity gets
- 12:14Speaker 1: a little bit bigger, he doesn't want any part of this.
- 12:17Speaker 1: He'll be furious that I'm even talking about him there.
- 12:19Speaker 1: I don't talk about him very often. We've been doing
- 12:21Speaker 1: this show five years, and I bet you can count
- 12:24Speaker 1: on one hand the amount of times I mention Bruce.
- 12:26Speaker 1: And that's not because I don't love him. No, it's
- 12:28Speaker 1: because I do love him. I'm very private about it.
- 12:31Speaker 1: I also learned it from Jessica Simpson. I used to
- 12:33Speaker 1: be Jessica Simpson's publicist. And I saw what happened when
- 12:36Speaker 1: her and Nick started to step into the spotlight. That marriage,
- 12:40Speaker 1: it's so, so difficult. I love Dolly's way here, which
- 12:44Speaker 1: is less is more. What about you? If you were famous,
- 12:47Speaker 1: if your partner was famous, would you want to be
- 12:49Speaker 1: in the spotlight? That's their dream. That's their wish. It
- 12:53Speaker 1: might not be yours. It certainly isn't my Bruce's. Okay,
- 12:56Speaker 1: moving along. shock. Nice news, though. It's exciting. Michael Strahan
- 13:01Speaker 1: has had a baby girl with his girlfriend, Mailer. So
- 13:04Speaker 1: I spotted Michael out about six months ago at the
- 13:07Speaker 1: corner store, this restaurant downtown. He was there with Mailer.
- 13:10Speaker 1: And I was like, oh, well, now we found out
- 13:14Speaker 1: he's officially the dad of five. They welcomed a baby girl.
- 13:17Speaker 1: They're not saying it was earlier this year, but we
- 13:19Speaker 1: don't know when. He shares four other kids with previous wives.
- 13:25Speaker 1: But now I'm told He is happy, happy, happy. Officially
- 13:29Speaker 1: a dad of five. They started dating in 2015. So
- 13:33Speaker 1: this wasn't yesterday. They didn't just meet up. They've been
- 13:35Speaker 1: together for over a decade. They too, like Dolly, keep
- 13:39Speaker 1: their relationship out of the spotlight. There's very few pictures
- 13:43Speaker 1: of them together. People will be like, oh, he's embarrassed
- 13:46Speaker 1: of her. She's embarrassed of him. Not at all. The opposite.
- 13:49Speaker 1: They love each other that much that their relationship is private.
- 13:52Speaker 1: It's something they work very hard to keep out of
- 13:54Speaker 1: the spotlight. Hey, congratulations. I really do like that Michael Strahan.
- 13:58Speaker 1: He's charming. In person, the guy you get on the
- 14:01Speaker 1: TV is the guy you get in person. Big smile,
- 14:04Speaker 1: that big gap in his teeth. He's so charming. He's
- 14:07Speaker 1: so handsome. Huge hands. He shakes your hands. He hugs you.
- 14:11Speaker 1: He always is great to bump into. Congratulations, Michael. This
- 14:15Speaker 1: is another relationship story. A quick one before we go
- 14:17Speaker 1: to break. Travis, Kelsey and Taylor Swift are doing fine,
- 14:21Speaker 1: but they're trying to figure out their new normal. So
- 14:23Speaker 1: they are married now. Congratulations. Hasn't been that long, has it?
- 14:27Speaker 1: They're both 36 years old. They married July 3rd. Who
- 14:29Speaker 1: could forget it? At Madison Square Garden. Well, now they're
- 14:32Speaker 1: settling into a new rhythm. He's in Kansas City. He
- 14:37Speaker 1: is with the NFL. So this isn't telling me that
- 14:39Speaker 1: now he's not having regrets about re-signing up for another season.
- 14:43Speaker 1: But he didn't really think this through. He's got to
- 14:45Speaker 1: be there. Taylor can work from anywhere. She's a songwriter.
- 14:49Speaker 1: And at the moment, I hear she really is working
- 14:51Speaker 1: on some new material. Very exciting. But she can write songs.
- 14:54Speaker 1: In London, in Paris, in New York, she can write
- 14:57Speaker 1: songs in Kansas City. He can't do that. He has
- 15:00Speaker 1: to physically be there, which means she's been spotted out
- 15:04Speaker 1: quite a bit by herself with her friends. She went
- 15:06Speaker 1: to a wedding in Great Britain, in the UK. She
- 15:09Speaker 1: was in LA with a friend of hers recently. And
- 15:13Speaker 1: so a lot of people are like, oh, my goodness,
- 15:15Speaker 1: trouble in paradise. Not at all. These two are very
- 15:17Speaker 1: much in love. They knew their schedules. They knew where
- 15:20Speaker 1: he had to be. I'm not quite sure they totally
- 15:23Speaker 1: figured it out. But now he is there. She is
- 15:25Speaker 1: there a lot. They talk all the time. They will
- 15:28Speaker 1: figure this out. They have a 10-day rule where they
- 15:31Speaker 1: have to see each other every 10 days. And they've
- 15:33Speaker 1: got the money for private planes. They've got the resources
- 15:37Speaker 1: to make that happen. I'm rooting for these two. OK,
- 15:39Speaker 1: we're going to take a quick break. And we will
- 15:41Speaker 1: be right back. Welcome back to the Naughty But Nice Show,
- 15:47Speaker 1: I'm your host, Rob Shooter. Hey, let's get to the polls.
- 15:52Speaker 1: Dolly Parton's cause of death has been revealed. It was cancer.
- 15:56Speaker 1: Are you surprised that Dolly kept it a secret? 90%
- 15:59Speaker 1: said no. We're talking about Dolly today, aren't we, and
- 16:02Speaker 1: secrets and privacy. No, this was personal. Dolly did not let,
- 16:07Speaker 1: one of the most famous people in the world, didn't
- 16:09Speaker 1: let you into her private life. And I think That
- 16:12Speaker 1: was one of the reasons we will always love you,
- 16:15Speaker 1: Dolly Parton. Hey, don't forget to vote on today's poll.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Go to our Twitter page at Naughty Nice Rob. Our
- 16:21Speaker 1: Facebook page is Naughty Gossip. Don't be sure to check
- 16:24Speaker 1: back to her on Monday. I was going to say tomorrow,
- 16:26Speaker 1: but Monday to hear your results. And now, oh, it's
- 16:30Speaker 1: time for our nicest of the day. Another Dolly story.
- 16:33Speaker 1: How can we not? So her sister has revealed... that
- 16:37Speaker 1: Dolly made a selfless, selfless offer to doctors during her
- 16:41Speaker 1: council battle. The country legend's sister, Stella, revealed that Dolly
- 16:46Speaker 1: offered to let doctors try experimental drugs on her if
- 16:50Speaker 1: there was no hope of recovery, believing the research could
- 16:53Speaker 1: help others. Stella said she was always thinking of others.
- 16:58Speaker 1: We are thinking of you right now, Dolly Parton. What
- 17:01Speaker 1: a great, great person. And now our naughtiest of the day. Naughty, naughty, naughty.
- 17:06Speaker 1: Brian Hickerson was pursuing other women before Hayden Panettiere's death.
- 17:11Speaker 1: So Brian, the boyfriend, on again, off again, the dodgy boyfriend,
- 17:14Speaker 1: was pursuing other ladies months before Hayden died. Private Instagram messages,
- 17:20Speaker 1: which have been seen by our friends at page six,
- 17:23Speaker 1: show that Brian repeatedly, repeatedly flirted with a 26-year-old South
- 17:28Speaker 1: Carolina woman. That's where she died. Hayden was in South
- 17:31Speaker 1: Carolina with Brian. He was from there. After allegedly meeting
- 17:34Speaker 1: her at a nightclub in March, he wrote, quote, great
- 17:37Speaker 1: meeting you last night, pretty lady. And then they went
- 17:41Speaker 1: on from there. Oh, dodgy, dodgy, dodgy guy. Let's end
- 17:46Speaker 1: with a moment of rub. You get a rub, you
- 17:48Speaker 1: get a rub, you get a rub. Everything changes when
- 17:52Speaker 1: you realise you have one less day. Every day isn't
- 17:57Speaker 1: one day more that you were given. No, it's one
- 18:00Speaker 1: day less that you have less. Once you understand that,
- 18:04Speaker 1: everything changes. You stop wasting time on people who drain you.
- 18:08Speaker 1: You stop postponing your joy. You stop obsessing over the
- 18:12Speaker 1: little things that are not going to matter one year
- 18:15Speaker 1: from now. You call the person you love. You take
- 18:18Speaker 1: the trips. You eat that piece of cake. You say yes.
- 18:21Speaker 1: You forgive. And you move on. Time is the one
- 18:25Speaker 1: thing you can never, ever earn back. So pay attention

- 18:33Speaker 1: waiting somewhere in the future. No, it is happening right now.
- 18:39Speaker 1: Think of that today. Don't think every day is one
- 18:43Speaker 1: day more. It's one day less. And so make sure
- 18:47Speaker 1: today counts. If you fell out with somebody, text them. Forgive.

- 20:28Speaker 1: is Queen Elizabeth III? It's set 15 years in the future.
- 20:33Speaker 1: We have a new person sitting on the throne and
- 20:36Speaker 1: it's not who you think it is. Ooh, it's a tease.

- 20:43Speaker 1: on Amazon and wherever you pre-order your books. Hey, let's
- 20:47Speaker 1: do our tagline together because we do everything together on
