- 0:00Lumni Stadium. Saturday, we'll begin our coverage Boston College, yuk on of
- 0:04ten thirty. The Hard Auto Group count Down a kickoff twelve noon kickoff as
- 0:10the Huskies play on the Yukon Sports Network Mike Chrispino joined by Jim Mora every
- 0:14Tuesday. Huskies gave up two tds in the final ten minutes in falling twenty
- 0:20four to twenty one this past weekend, the winning touchdown coming with four minutes
- 0:24left. Got to ask about this because you look at all the tape,
- 0:27you see everything I saw on that touchdown run. And I'm not gonna get
- 0:33too deeply into this, but I saw a holding play, a hold there
- 0:37that it'll enable that running back to get in the end zone. And we're
- 0:39seeing a lot of that week to week in our games, and I watch
- 0:45a lot of other football games too. I'm curious sometimes. I know,
- 0:49guys hold every play, coach, but if a hold happens in a play
- 0:55that's that important, it should be called. Am I right about that?
- 0:59Yeah? Absolutely right, you know, And and calls like let's go back
- 1:03to, uh, what was the game that Justin made a great catch and
- 1:08they and that we had the holding call on Chase and it was it was
- 1:15f iu fiu like they called holding on Chase Lunt. That was like as
- 1:21TICKI tack as you can get. And then they don't call holding like you
- 1:23said on the run. But you know, that is the human nature of
- 1:27this game. You know, those officials, they they they're not biased.
- 1:33They try hard, they can't see everything. They're not going to be perfect.
- 1:37I think. You know, if you start letting excuses seep in as
- 1:42a coach and you present them to your players, then that's a that's a
- 1:47that's a detriment to your program. And so you know, you try to
- 1:49put yourself in a position where calls like that don't happen. You're very clean.
- 1:55Uh, you're not in a position where you know they're going to score
- 1:57a touchdown because of a hold. Yeah, there are reasons, but they
- 2:01can't be excuses for us. It's frustrating, certainly frustrated that there was you
- 2:07know, a couple of PI calls that they didn't call that you know,
- 2:08and then they called one that I didn't think they should call. But that's
- 2:13that's kind of the nature of this game. We all know that you've you've
- 2:15done a million games as a broadcaster, and you've probably been frustrated a million
- 2:19times it calls to either win against you or went for the other team so
- 2:23or that we're missed. So those are the kind of things that kind of
- 2:28you know, I know, you just can't dwell on it. No,
- 2:30you're right, but those are the kind of things that tip the scales a
- 2:34little bit. I know, you're you're looking last week saying four turnovers.
- 2:38We can't do that. First quarter turnover at your eight yard line, can't
- 2:40do that. So you put yourself behind an eight ball. You come back
- 2:44to lead twenty one to ten. So you you've done a lot of overcoming
- 2:47of adversity, but then a little thing here, a little thing there,
- 2:51tips it back the other way. So that's gott to be the frustration level
- 2:54for the coaching staff. How would you rate that right now? Ten?
- 3:00But it's not just the coaching staff, it's ten for everybody because our players
- 3:04care desperately, you know, and you know, defensively, you know,
- 3:07we played a really really really really really good game for you know, most
- 3:15of the game and then that last drive for a touchdown where they broke out
- 3:17forty seven yard run and we had misstackles. Maybe we didn't put them in
- 3:21the best call. You know, that just kind of spoils all the good
- 3:25things that you're doing for that day. But once again, you got to
- 3:29look back with some objectivity when you're watching the film and you're talking to your
- 3:32players and evaluating it with them, and you got to be very very I
- 3:37always feel like this, you should look at the game as if the win
- 3:43in the law is the way you evaluate the game should be independent of the
- 3:47score. It's did you execute or did you not execute? Why did they
- 3:52make a play? Why did we make a play? Why didn't we make
- 3:54a play? You know, how can we make that play regardless of what
- 4:00the situation is? Because if you if your evaluation is based upon the score,
- 4:03then you're missing the boat. Your evaluation should be based on the performance.
- 4:06And so each play in itself is an individual evaluation. And uh,
- 4:14you know, we all point to certain plays, certainly, but I think
- 4:16the best way to do it is don't look at the scoreboard, evaluate the
- 4:21performance, evaluate the call that we made based upon the situation, and and
- 4:27then we can grow, and then we can learn, and then we can
- 4:29get better. Yeah. No, I totally agree with that. Let's talk
- 4:32about that running back room. Are you calling up reserves from somewhere you don't
- 4:39have them? I mean, yeah, we don't have you know, you
- 4:43got we got, We got what we got. You know. An unfortunate
- 4:46thing here is that we had two young men that quit on this football team,
- 4:49quit on their teammates for whatever reason. And when I say quit,
- 4:53I mean yeah, am I being a little bit critical? Yeah, I'm
- 4:58trying not to be judgmental. Yeah, it stings you a little bit.
- 5:01I know our players are bothered by it. I'm talking about Bruton and Houston.
- 5:06We could use those guys right now, you know. But on the
- 5:11on the flip side, it's given a guy like Cam Edwards a chance to
- 5:15step up and show, you know how freaking tough he is. Now this
- 5:19week, you know, we'll see what happens with Victor. I know he's
- 5:21working really hard to get back. He did not practice today, but that's
- 5:26because he was in the training room, you know, and he's keeping Bob
- 5:29Howard busy morning, noon and night working on rehab. I wouldn't put it
- 5:33past Victor to be ready to go on Saturday. Just knowing how tough Victor
- 5:36is, You're going to see Jay Mitchell get more snaps, you know,
- 5:41So between Victor Cam and Jalen, you know, we got to figure it
- 5:46out. And you know, I feel bad for our offensive players if they
- 5:49haven't really for two years been at full strength. You know, we lost
- 5:53our quarterback in our tight end the first quarter the second game. Now take
- 5:59once coming in on a hell of a job last year. We all know
- 6:01what happened offensively, and then this year we lose two running backs and quit
- 6:05and then you know, getting Victor hurt hurt, So you know, it
- 6:10really stresses Nick out in terms of putting together the game plan against a really
- 6:15good team in Boston College that can be successful. Yeah, Nicking is creativity.
- 6:20Yeah yeah, really, Nick Charlton's had to work with with less than
- 6:26the full roster for sure. On the offensive side. We'll talk about Boston
- 6:29College and we'll talk a little bit more about the transfer portal. This is
- 6:32like a weekly thing. We talk about that and how that goes around the
- 6:36country with Jim Mora. When we continue on the Yukon Football Coaches Show,
