- 5:21discovered how to potentially eliminate the world's
- 5:24deadliest infectious disease, tuberculosis. By
- 5:28turning off the genetic switch to its respiratory
- 5:30system, researchers found that mycobacterium
- 5:34tuberculosis cannot survive without the prurabe
- 5:37system. When prurabe was inhibited, the bacteria
- 5:41shut down and a drug called diaryltheazole -48
- 5:44became more effective against it. Tuberculosis
- 5:48has seen a resurgence in the United States and
- 5:51remains an epidemic in many regions. The research
- 5:55team aims to use these findings to develop targeted
- 5:58therapies that could make tuberculosis vanish,
- 6:01much like smallpox. In business news, Warner
- 6:07Bros. Discovery has entered exclusive negotiations
- 6:10for a deal to sell its studios and HBO Max streaming
- 6:14business to Netflix, a move that would dramatically
- 6:18reshape the entertainment and media industry,
- 6:21according to people familiar with the matter.
- 6:24This development follows the latest round of
- 6:27bids for the media company, which owns Superman
- 6:30and HBO Max. Paramount and Comcast have also
- 6:35been pursuing Warner Bros. discovery. All three
- 6:38companies submitted sweetened offers this week,
- 6:41with Netflix reportedly presenting a mostly cash
- 6:44bid. Updates will follow as news develops. In

- 7:59a lawsuit against the AI search engine Perplexity
- 8:02alleging copyright infringement. The lawsuit
- 8:06filed in a federal court in New York claims Perplexity
- 8:09is using Tribune content without permission.
- 8:13The Tribune's lawyers contacted Perplexity in
- 8:15mid -October asking about the use of its content.
- 8:20Perplexity's response indicated it does not train
- 8:22models with tribune work, but it may receive
- 8:25nonverbatim factual summaries. However, the tribune
- 8:29argues that perplexity is delivering content
- 8:32verbatim. Additionally, the lawsuit calls out
- 8:36perplexity's retrieval augmented generation as
- 8:39a key issue. Perplexity has not responded to
- 8:43the lawsuit or requests for comment. Entertainment
- 8:49news. Sony Pictures is working on a fifth film
- 8:53in the Men in Black franchise, tapping Chris
- 8:56Bremner, the writer of Bad Boys for Life, to
- 9:00draft the script. It remains unclear if Will
- 9:03Smith or Tommy Lee Jones will reprise their iconic
- 9:06roles as Agent J and Agent K. Bremner's involvement
- 9:11may appeal to Smith, who starred in both Bad
- 9:14Boys films. Sony previously attempted a reboot
