- 0:00SPEAKER_00: This is Brendan Stacy with Let's Wine with Brendan Stacy, and we just wanted to wish everybody a happy summer.
- 0:05SPEAKER_00: We hope it's going okay.
- 0:06SPEAKER_00: Here in Georgia, we've been having heat indexes 104, 109.
- 0:10SPEAKER_00: It's just been ridiculous.
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: And when I leave work, my steering wheel is hot.
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: We just want to make sure everybody's in the air conditioning.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: Yo yeah.
- 0:16SPEAKER_01: Surviving this outside is just, girl, I don't like it one bit.
- 0:21SPEAKER_01: You take uh hot flashes on top of hot, hot, hot.
- 0:26SPEAKER_01: I'm ready.
- 0:27SPEAKER_01: I'm ready for a nice fall day.
- 0:29SPEAKER_01: It's miserable.
- 0:30SPEAKER_01: A winter breeze.
- 0:31SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 0:32SPEAKER_01: Give me something besides heat.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: Well, even before my 50s, I wasn't a fan of the heat.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: And I think you're in the same Facebook group I am, the I Hate Summer.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: Are you in that one?
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: For some reason, I thought I saw your name.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: Maybe you just liked something that I share.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 0:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean, it's hard for me to say I hate summer because I'm not anti-summer.
- 0:51SPEAKER_01: I'm just over it.
- 0:52SPEAKER_01: So it's not just pure hatred.
- 0:53SPEAKER_01: It's just don't be hot and all of it.
- 0:55SPEAKER_01: Don't be hot and we can be friends.
- 0:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 0:57SPEAKER_01: Don't make me hot.
- 0:58SPEAKER_01: That's sounds good.
- 0:59SPEAKER_01: And then we're good.
- 1:00SPEAKER_01: But speaking of friends, I do want to be a little bit of a downer.
- 1:03SPEAKER_01: I found out today that one of the people who coached me through my radio gears, I followed John Meader on the air in uh Florida.
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: I'm in my radio days for decades.
- 1:14SPEAKER_01: Every bit of my career, I followed him.
- 1:16SPEAKER_01: He was the six to ten morning guy.
- 1:19SPEAKER_01: And then I would come in and take over for him 10 to 3.
- 1:21SPEAKER_01: So every day, five days a week, I would see him.
- 1:24SPEAKER_01: But anyway, I found out uh today that he passed away.
- 1:27SPEAKER_01: And my condolences to his family and friends.
- 1:30SPEAKER_01: I'm sorry.
- 1:31SPEAKER_01: I'm sure that Highlands County, Florida will probably throw a parade or some sort of huge memorial service for him.
- 1:39SPEAKER_01: He has dedicated so much of his life.
- 1:40SPEAKER_01: I know he was in the service bay, way, way, way, way back.
- 1:43SPEAKER_01: And then in radio, I just appreciate everything that I learned from him.
- 1:47SPEAKER_01: It's just sad when somebody you work so long with the end of an era.
- 1:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it is.
- 1:53SPEAKER_01: It's the end of an era.
- 1:54SPEAKER_01: My heart goes out to Hollands County, like I said, and all the people in his family who will love and miss him.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: So I'm sorry.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: It's hard to lose somebody that you you just think they're always gonna be there, even when you move away.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: You hear they've passed away, it's hard.
- 2:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it it's really hard.
- 2:10SPEAKER_01: John was at a lot of events that happened in my life, you know, throughout those decades.
- 2:14SPEAKER_01: He was a very social person, and you know, he wouldn't shy away from hanging out and partying with us and all the other fun things.
- 2:20SPEAKER_01: So it's the end of an era, so it sort of breaks my heart.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and it's hot.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: It's too hot.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: It's too hot.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: It is hot, very hot.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: But we hope everybody's having vacations and having a good time or doing whatever it is they do.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: And we just wanted to put another shout out because they're starting to come in for a part two of our um assumptions.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: That episode's gotten a lot of hits.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: Oh, good.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: I know, and more people are starting to write in.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: So we're at BS Studios at myyahoo.com and we want yours.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 2:45SPEAKER_01: We want to hear your assumptions, your what you assumed, and if you still assume it.
- 2:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah, even better.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: Knowing you're an adult doing something crazy.
- 2:53SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 2:53SPEAKER_01: I can't believe this, too.
- 2:55SPEAKER_01: You know, we're wishing everybody a happy holiday for if they're traveling or going on vacation.
- 2:59SPEAKER_01: I know in the other countries they call it on holiday.
- 3:02SPEAKER_01: School starts back before you know it.
- 3:04SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: It is around the corner.
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: Watch what you're doing, look out for those buses.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: I don't want to say any names, I'll just say a coworker.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: She got a thousand dollar ticket.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: They sent her the little thing in the mail and she didn't even see the school bus.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: And they even told her there's no way around it, and there has to be a raised median.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: Maybe I'm stupid.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: Bear, stop for those school buses.
- 3:26SPEAKER_01: I have gotten, and I'm not even this person.
- 3:28SPEAKER_01: I'm one of those people, you know, my kids rode the school bus.
- 3:30SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 3:31SPEAKER_01: So I was super vigilant about being careful.
- 3:34SPEAKER_01: But since I've moved here, my$250 ticket, Mel to me to school bus took a picture of me.
- 3:40SPEAKER_01: They were in a turn lane.
- 3:41SPEAKER_01: You know, like there's a turn lane like to turn into our neighborhood.
- 3:44SPEAKER_01: They were in that turn lane, so I assumed, assumptions, that they were going to turn into that neighborhood.
- 3:51SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 3:51SPEAKER_01: Well, they didn't turn into that neighborhood.
- 3:53SPEAKER_01: They decided I guess that was the bus stop.
- 3:56SPEAKER_01: Oh.
- 3:56SPEAKER_01: And was their stop sign out?
- 3:58SPEAKER_01: Their stop sign was coming out while I was flying by.
- 4:02SPEAKER_01: Going by.
- 4:03SPEAKER_01: Oh, okay.
- 4:03SPEAKER_01: I wasn't flying, but I I knew it.
- 4:06SPEAKER_01: I just felt it.
- 4:07SPEAKER_01: I was like, I know I I have a ticket.
- 4:09SPEAKER_01: And it bothers me because I mean it's a school bus.
- 4:11SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 4:12SPEAKER_01: You know, I'm not one of those people who's gonna fly around or dick around around a school bus because I don't want to hurt anybody.
- 4:17SPEAKER_01: I'm just not that kind of person.
- 4:18SPEAKER_01: I was so just cried, so upset because I was like, I'm not that kind of person, but I assumed that the school bus was gonna turn into that neighborhood instead of stop right there.
- 4:29SPEAKER_01: Right in the middle of the street.
- 4:30SPEAKER_01: Right in the middle.
- 4:31SPEAKER_01: You see a school bus, back up, stay away.
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: Just stop.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: No matter what they're doing, just stop.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: Just stop.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: Or the tickets coming.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: The tickets are recording you.
- 4:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they uh yeah, they sent a picture, you know, of the Yeah, she said it was a picture and a little video.
- 4:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 4:45SPEAKER_01: Mine was only$250.
- 4:47SPEAKER_01: And I paid it.
- 4:48SPEAKER_01: I was wrong.
- 4:49SPEAKER_01: I felt horrible.
- 4:49SPEAKER_01: Cry.
- 4:50SPEAKER_01: Lesson learned.
- 4:51SPEAKER_01: Georgia, they like to get you.
- 4:53SPEAKER_01: She was obviously in Georgia.
- 4:54SPEAKER_01: She was Oh yeah.
- 4:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 4:55SPEAKER_01: So school buses back out and about.
- 4:57SPEAKER_01: Be careful of those.
- 4:59SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 4:59SPEAKER_01: Look out.
- 5:00SPEAKER_01: And of the kids.
- 5:00SPEAKER_01: I mean, I'm definitely not making light of it, but definitely be careful of the kids and so that everybody has a happy and fun school year.
- 5:07SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 5:07SPEAKER_01: All the teachers going back, God bless them.
- 5:10SPEAKER_01: God bless them.
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: God, God.
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: Lord, have mercy.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: Help them.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: Needless to say, my teacher daughter went on to get a real estate license because teaching after eight years about did her in.
- 5:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's crazy.
- 5:22SPEAKER_01: I'm sure she could tell us some amazing teacher stories now that she's not in it anymore.
- 5:26SPEAKER_01: And I've heard some crazy teacher stories that I could share that just baffle me.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: That's a whole nother episode.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: If you're a teacher, we want to hear from you too.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: Please let us know.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: Just put teacher in the subject or assumption in the subject.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: Just keep it coming.
- 5:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah, absolutely.
- 5:41SPEAKER_01: If you have teacher stories that can uh keep us going, I know I have some that I've heard, and I'm just like, no way, no way.
- 5:48SPEAKER_01: But anyway, it takes a special person.
- 5:50SPEAKER_01: Very special.
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: We just wanted to wish everybody happy summer.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: Happy summer.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: Beat the heat.
- 5:55SPEAKER_00: Party.
- 5:55SPEAKER_00: Party while you can indoors in the AC.
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so I was gonna say sit in the AC, drink a glass of wine, and forget how hot it is outside.
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: Just forget it all.
- 6:03SPEAKER_00: I'm hearing it's hot almost everywhere.
- 6:04SPEAKER_01: It's horrible.
- 6:05SPEAKER_01: Horrible.
- 6:06SPEAKER_01: Miserable.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: But we will be back next week.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, for sure.
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: With another episode, and we're just gonna call it.
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: Wrap it.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: Wrap it.
- 6:13SPEAKER_00: We want to hear from you at BS Studios at myyahoo.com on Let's Wine with Brendan Stacey.
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: Bye.
