- 1:49In Jesus' name I pray.
- 1:51Amen.
- 1:53And so, Gia, as we come into this podcast, what is it that about finding Jesus, why did
- 2:00you want to do this podcast?
- 2:03Why did I want to do this podcast?
- 2:05Because I went to a church camp called C.I.Y.
- 2:08And then this girl, we call them kingdom workers when they do something for God that makes a
- 2:14big, big impact and I saw that she did a podcast and I was like, Mom, I want to do a podcast
- 2:21too because you know a lot about Jesus and I'm a teen and I like, I want to get, I want
- 2:26all teens to get closer to God and that's why I want to do this podcast.
- 2:31Okay.
- 2:32So whenever we talk about making room for Jesus, what does that mean or how does that
- 2:37look like making room for Jesus as a teen?
- 2:43Making room for Jesus as a teen is basically like getting rid of all the bad stuff that
- 2:49you have, like all the bad thoughts, all the bad stuff that you see online are here or
- 2:54like all the rumors and everything, just getting rid of all that and just bringing Jesus into
- 2:58your life.
- 2:59So prioritizing relationships and putting him above all things and I think for adults
- 3:09as a mom, as a wife, as a professional woman, I think that really having centered relationships
- 3:22on Jesus, we have to put Jesus in the beginning of our day and just prioritizing him above
- 3:30our husband, above our children, above our work because it's about if we put him first,
- 3:38then really everything kind of falls into place.
- 3:41As you are wanting to get closer to God, do you feel there's barriers that would make
- 3:50you not, what are some barriers that a teen would have?
- 3:55Not to get closer to God, to making room for Jesus.
- 3:58What are some barriers?
- 3:59I feel like a big one for me is like my phone time and everything because when I get on
- 4:05the tape, I just keep on scrolling and scrolling and just like just on my phone a lot.
- 4:11And you look up and it's been three hours.
- 4:17Do other distractions as far as you feel like you're well intended, like you get up, you
- 4:23have your breakfast and you're like, I'm going to read scripture today.
- 4:26And then you jump on your phone first.
- 4:29So what would be a way to get that distraction like out?
- 4:34Well, you could, if you want to wake up in the morning and like have a rule that like
- 4:42you don't get on your phone until like you read like a chapter in the Bible or until
- 4:46you pray to God, talk to God and then you can be on your phone.
- 4:50I feel like that's a good way and like just set some like like rules and everything.
- 4:55Sets a tone.
- 4:56And that way you don't get discouraged either because you set a goal for the day and even
- 5:01maybe blocking your phone so you can't open it till seven o'clock, eight o'clock.
- 5:07And that way you give yourself maybe ample time to sit down, read a devotion, read not
- 5:15even a chapter because that could be overwhelming for some people just starting with just a simple
- 5:20verse could help encourage people.
- 5:25And then what does your and so as a busy mom, if I don't get up early and put him first,
- 5:33I have a thousand distractions in my day.
- 5:36You know, we have phone calls, we have computers, we have meetings, we have workouts, we have
- 5:40practices, we have supper, we have lunch, we have all these distractions.
- 5:44And so we just have to prioritize what is important in our days.
- 5:48We always make time in our day for what's important.
- 5:52And so we feel that God is important and that time that we spend with him, I think that
- 5:57people would make more time for him because he's a priority.
- 6:03And so my priority is first and foremost is him every morning.
- 6:07I just pray whenever I go to sleep at night that he wakes me up at a certain time and
- 6:13he wakes me up every morning.
- 6:15I get my mushroom coffee ready and then I go and get to read for an hour and be in prayer
- 6:23and devotion and that way I don't have any distractions and nothing gets in my way.
- 6:29What are some daily devotion times that would work for teens?
- 6:35And so four o'clock in the morning is not going to work for a teen.
- 6:39So what would be a healthy habit as kids are going back to school?
- 6:44What would be a healthy habit to prioritize our daily devotion time?
- 6:49So what I do is, so I get ready then after that, like while I'm eating breakfast, I
- 6:55watch a devotion.
- 6:56It's on the Bible app on your phone that you can get, like you can like set devotion things
- 7:01like it usually has like a YouTube video or something and then you read your devotion
- 7:06or I do it on the way to school when I drive there.
- 7:09Whenever you were being drove there because you cannot drive.
- 7:11Honestly, I think I could but like I feel like that's a label.
- 7:16It is.
- 7:17And also too in Sunday school this day we had a student that said that a really good reminder,
- 7:22there's a reminder app on your phone and so his dad even said, hey, put a reminder app
- 7:28on for every hour to pray.
- 7:31And so it's just a daily encouragement because we're supposed to, you know, pray without
- 7:35ceasing and so be in prayer with God all day long.
- 7:39And so just, you know, thinking, you know, at 10 o'clock at 9 o'clock at 11 o'clock
- 7:42just, just say thank you to God.
- 7:45And so just giving thanks to him, I think would be a great idea.
- 7:49What are some ways to prioritize worship?
- 7:51Um, to pray, um, I feel like a good one will be like listening to it and everything and
- 8:01like just put it like instead of listening to all that bad music and everything, um,
- 8:08I feel like you, I feel like you feel way more better and like fuller when you listen
- 8:13to worship music.
- 8:14I feel like that's what I feel like.
- 8:16And I think that just, um, to include worship time at home in your car, in your room, in
- 8:23your basement, worshiping does not just have to be at church on Sundays.
- 8:27It can be every day.
- 8:29And so here, you know, we try to only listen to worship music.
- 8:34We don't listen to a lot of secular music, um, and, and just giving that attention again
- 8:39and making room for, for God in our worship.
- 8:42What about just simplifying your life?
- 8:44What are some benefits of just having, just simplifying and not being so busy?
- 8:50What would be some ways that a teen could just simplify their morning and not be in
- 8:54a rush and be in a hurry?
- 8:57And that way they don't squeeze Jesus out of their morning routine.
- 9:02I feel like for a lot of like teen girls, like when they're getting ready to do like
- 9:06all of your skincare and makeup, I feel like that's a good time to like watch a video.
- 9:11Like Bible projects really good.
- 9:13It's really like interesting and everything.
- 9:16And like, Tim Mackey is wonderful.
- 9:18Yeah.
- 9:19And like when you're like, you're doing your hair or something, brushing your teeth, it's
- 9:22a good thing to just squeeze in Jesus anytime you can really.
- 9:27And I, and I mean, as an adult woman, uh, so after my workout on the morning, uh, I do
- 9:31take a cold shower and then I listen to a sermon after I have read scripture.
- 9:35So I listen to a sermon while I'm getting my makeup ready too.
- 9:38So I think for teens and for, uh, mature women, I think that's a great time because
- 9:44you're not doing anything anyway.
- 9:45You're in there for about a 15, 20 minutes anyway.
- 9:48And so that's a great time to listen to a sermon, listen to the Bible on the U version
- 9:52Bible app or whatever Bible app you have.
- 9:55And that way you can just listen to it.
- 9:58Do we have any, um, stories that you could say, like from church camp that would encourage
- 10:05or inspire youth just to give Jesus a chance?
- 10:11So basically at our church camp, C I Y, it's really good.
- 10:15Um, you can find on my Instagram and everything on Google.
- 10:18I went and like every time I go, you get a chance to like renew yourself to Jesus.
- 10:26And if you feel like you've been growing far apart from Jesus, this is like, it gives
- 10:30you another chance to get, um, just get reborn into Christ and, um, churches, they usually
- 10:39have like a baptism Sunday or something like that.
- 10:42And you can get, you can get baptized and finally bring your life into Jesus.
- 10:50And so that brings us to a great scripture, Matthew 11, 28, 30, and it says, all things
- 10:56have been committed to me by my father.
- 11:00No one knows the son except for the father and no one knows the father except for the
- 11:04son and those to whom the son chooses to reveal him, come to me all you are weary and burdened
- 11:12and I will give you rest.
- 11:14Take my yoke upon you and learn from me for I am gentle and humble in heart and you will
- 11:19find rest with your souls for my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
- 11:26And so I think that's a great, um, way to maybe in the podcast is just knowing that,
- 11:32that Jesus is for us and that knowing him as your Lord and savior, knowing that he died
- 11:38for you to pay for our sins and our life is a free gift to him, to us from him.
- 11:46And so just making room for Jesus in those like little practical ways, I think is a great
- 11:53way to start your day, end your day and just be with him all throughout the day.
- 11:59Because if we prioritize Jesus and make room for him, that you really, you really will
- 12:03see your life change in such a positive light.
- 12:09So as we end this podcast, um, we just want to thank you for tuning in this week.
- 12:13Stay tuned for next week, our episode seven and have a great week.
- 12:19Bye.
