- 0:02[SPEAKER_00]: Hi folks, welcome to the episode of Film Study.
- 0:04[SPEAKER_00]: This is Kamek Music.
- 0:05[SPEAKER_00]: Wanted to do a quick pod to talk about what to look for in the pre-season game against the Eagles on Saturday night.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_00]: Lots of folks, of course, hate pre-season football.
- 0:14[SPEAKER_00]: I know a number of you can't wait for the 18-game schedule to eliminate another one of these meaningless pre-season games.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_00]: it's a risk of injury involved.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_00]: I don't like paying for preseason ticket sets for sure, but I do think there's a lot of information to be gleaned from these games and you can tell from the amount of write about them that I do think there's still significant in terms of a number of downstream implications for the team.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_00]: So on Saturday, I thought, you know, there are a few
- 0:41[SPEAKER_00]: legitimate roster spots are up for grabs.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_00]: There's actually one or two perhaps positional battles that have still to be determined specifically at Sender and at Slaught Corner are two spots that are up there.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_00]: And there are lots of other players who have something to prove, even though they have certainly made the team.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_00]: We've done a counter-jax and is fitting into that role, for example.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_00]: And there are other spots at the top of the extended Depth Shirt.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_00]: The practice-wide you can call it.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_00]: The players who can be called up on an emergency basis for a week to play, or they could be the next man up in terms of filling out your Depth Shirt as the roster of trits over the course of the season.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_00]: So following along those lines, I wanted to talk about several position groups starting at Cornerback, so we'll start on the defense here, order of entry for all positions is really king, however, at Cornerback, there is a notable exception because the Ravens happen to have a 30-year-old veteran on the team, Amane, or Roya.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_00]: who while he could really help them win a preseason game and he could be a guy that they could fill in with, I don't think he's likely to be anything except for a top of practice squad option for this team.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_00]: So go in the 53's made, I expect him to be cut.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_00]: They'll put them on the practice squad.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_00]: They've even have a handshake deal with them because he's a vet min guy to bring him back at some point.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_00]: But it won't be, I don't think it'll be initially because they really have a lot of young cornerbacks that they need to try and figure out if they have something.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_00]: in 2026.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_00]: It'll be a trial I fire for some of those guys when they do find a time to get playing time, which is that's not obvious how quickly that will come.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_00]: But anyway, I expect to start this game with Tampa and Elysia or Tampa and Uruguay on the outside with Martin at slot corner.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_00]: It could be rivers by the way to a slot corner.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_00]: Those guys could alternate series.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_00]: They have had one of the really great camp battles.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_00]: Martin is probably played as well as any
- 2:45[SPEAKER_00]: uh... and he certainly is the incumbent for the position uh... riversis played primarily in the slot i haven't noticed him playing on the outside but again you know that stuff like you talk about anyway but uh... those guys martin and rivers have it a great battle and i i'll be interested to see even how they handle order of entry because to give either of them the second half is kind of a backhanded slap uh... in a little way so it might alternate series with with players like that
- 3:12[SPEAKER_00]: I expect the following order after the initial play of Tampa, which I don't expect to be much in Louisiana, you know, they might play a series, they might play two series.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_00]: But after that, I'd say we'll get Cone Robinson and the Martin and Rivers pairing.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_00]: a four quarter two and into quarter three.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_00]: Cone is really the next up on their board.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_00]: And Robinson is very similar to him.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_00]: He's a guy who has size, speed, and youth.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_00]: The Ravens love that in their outside corners.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_00]: They want the good aircraft carrier length.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_00]: They want the speed to go with that.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_00]: And Cone and Robinson Cone said it could camp despite an injury.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_00]: that he came back from, and Robinson has also played quite well in camps.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_00]: I look forward to those two, kind of being the first corners up after they, you know, clear the decks of the guys who are certain to make it, and those guys are really fighting along Kone Robinson, Martin Rivers, and longer beam,
- 4:11[SPEAKER_00]: for possibly three roster spots behind the big four on the team.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_00]: So that'll be interesting to see how that shakes out.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_00]: But anyway, those are the, I'd expect that to be the pairings of the corner back group during the first half.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_00]: Second half, I think it'll be longer beam, web, and Martin Rivers.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_00]: That's really the only remaining corners they have on the roster.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_00]: And it means that Martin or Rivers are going to be in there for the whole game.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_00]: So,
- 4:35[SPEAKER_00]: It really would make sense, and I think it's more likely that Jesse will alternate those slot corner situations since they don't think he's ready to pick one of the two.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_00]: If he does pick rivers to play the second half, say it would be a strong statement about the relative positioning of those two players right now, but I really don't think he'll do that.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_00]: I think he'll try and get some first half time for rivers.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, moving over to the safety position, Hamilton Hawkins and Starks, I don't think the play at all if they do play will just be a few snaps, but in the first half, that means the Ravens will have Wallace at free safety and Kyandre Jackson at strong safety.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_00]: Kyandre
- 5:16[SPEAKER_00]: this is a big showcase for him now showcasing normally means you're going to trade the player in this case it means they really want to make sure he can play that strong safety half field position no better time to do it than in the preseason against some quarterback suit you know or no better than second stringers no better than backups
- 5:36[SPEAKER_00]: Jackson has had a fantastic camp so far so he'll be a great great guy to watch out there should be one of the players you're really excited about seeing.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_00]: Wallace came on Wallace as a 29-year-old veteran.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_00]: He could actually get playing time into the second half in this game because the Ravens are short-handed at safety and he could be one of the players that wins the game for them kind of the way.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_00]: Darrell Warley won a preseason game for the Ravens where he played a bunch of snaps a couple
- 6:03[SPEAKER_00]: three or four years ago at this point.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_00]: But in any case, he's a player who probably figures to be on the top of the practice squad.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_00]: He's a vetman guy.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_00]: It would make a lot of sense for him to be ready to go.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_00]: But counter Jackson is the team's potential special teams captain.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_00]: Certainly one of their best special teams players and he's played so well and came.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_00]: I can't imagine the Ravens don't want him as the fourth safety and they need to just confirm during this preseason
- 6:33[SPEAKER_00]: If anything happens injury-wise as safety group because they don't want to be forced into a situation where they have to move Kyle Hamilton in particular.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_00]: And the only player who they should need to move, if Kander Jackson is really ready to go, is Starks.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_00]: from strong safety to free safety in the case of a Hawkins injury.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_00]: Otherwise, everybody can stay put, you know, obviously unless they get injured themselves.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_00]: So anyway, that's what I would see.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_00]: The second half, they don't have a lot of changes they can make.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_00]: They have Wallace and Jackson, Silas Walters, who had an interception in the practice on Thursday, will be available.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_00]: And I expect him to get plenty of second half playing time.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_00]: They may have a corner back move back to safety.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_00]: And one guy, a money or a warrior is another possibility for that.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_00]: So they may lean on a veteran like that.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_00]: And again, their warlay would be the starting point for that from a few years ago.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_00]: uh... at joc was robins and by the way's hurt and so he he i think he's unlikely to play and that's why they they we need to come up with some other solution whether that means keeping wallos or jackson on into the second half uh... or or going to somebody like or worry anyway expect the bulk of defensive snaps to be either based or nickel uh... the cards will be held very tightly to the to the vest in terms of true defensive
- 7:58[SPEAKER_00]: point about that is when you play base and nickel, you get a better ability to show in proportion to the players you have in the 90 man roster, each of them and give them some playing time, get a look at them.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_00]: And it's important to note that it's not important.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_00]: to put your players in a position to succeed during the pre-season.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_00]: So you don't draw your defense up the same way you would during the regular season.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_00]: So okay, it's second and long.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_00]: We want to move to the dime now.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_00]: We want to make sure we have the number defensive backs and the amount of additional coverage and potential past rush flexibility we want on the field.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_00]: You don't have to do all that.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_00]: what you really want to do is see how does a player play when he's not in the best possible situation, stress them a little bit.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_00]: So if you play just regular nickel on passing downs and you play base on a lot of first and second downs, then you're going to stress your coverage and force them to make some plays and you're going to make it, you know, you know,
- 8:55[SPEAKER_00]: get a good look at your full roster of players.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_00]: Another element you probably won't see in the past rush is much of the complexity.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I will say in past years, particularly with Martin Dale, but this has also been true with McDonald, they would juice up some pastures scheme because they were happy to run it at the opponents.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_00]: What I don't think we'll see particularly from
- 9:21[SPEAKER_00]: Re-snap deception that they will fold in then come September.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_00]: So simulated pressures probably won't see tons of that.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_00]: I don't expect people will be lining up the line of scripts and dropping the cover.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_00]: That's what simulated pressure is.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_00]: I don't expect that we'll see a lot of
- 9:41[SPEAKER_00]: pre-snap movement intended to deceive the quarterback.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_00]: So times where Kyle Hamilton or the regular season might jump off his slot corner roll, move up the line of scrimmage, and then move back kind of thing.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_00]: And they have to figure out how to react to that within a short period of time.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_00]: I don't expect to see that.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_00]: I think we'll see a lot of set piece.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_00]: situations with the front six slash front seven and a lot of minimal movement from the back four or five the umbrella of the defense I think you know on Saturday night we're not looking on a pre-snap basis to see people.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_00]: Now one thing that we noticed had been done a lot is that opposing teams said to run a lot of boot plays because it's a simple play all the quarterbacks know it they've been running it since high school sometimes since before that
- 10:32[SPEAKER_00]: You know, individual players need to be good at picking up on their individual responsibilities.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_00]: Within the scheme, you're probably less concerned about that at this point, because they just haven't had as much time to grow a custom to it.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_00]: But the backside edge defender needs to run down straight downhill on that.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_00]: booting quarterback before he, you know, he has an opportunity to decide which of three levels he wants to throw to.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_00]: That's very, that's very important.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_00]: You need to get that right from the very first preseason game and that's just a responsibility of that edge defender that they need to do well.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, obviously they want to see if the edge defenders
- 11:06[SPEAKER_00]: concept the edge well, but they don't even do anything special to do that.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_00]: So anyway, I expect from a defense of standpoint.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_00]: We won't see much of anything that is special and package-wise.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_00]: We should see almost nothing of the most aggressive use of defensive backs to
- 11:29[SPEAKER_00]: used that are used typically on high leverage downs.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't think we'll see the dime defense at all in this first game.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_00]: We might see it a couple of times at some point during the preseason.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_00]: It had been something that had gone through entire games playing nickel and base entirely.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_00]: It's possible to see a little bit of jumbo, you know, putting an extra lineman when a third and one occurs.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_00]: We might see that.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_00]: But I don't think we'll see any
- 11:53[SPEAKER_00]: heavy defensive back usage, exception would be if the game comes down to one play at the end and it's a, you know, they're at the 50, you probably will see seven defensive backs on the field.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_00]: So it'd be, they'll be times like that where they would do it.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_00]: But in terms of the normal, you know, first half second down, third down, trying to, you know, stop the other team from getting serious successes, I think that's, that's a, it takes a back seat to wanting to evaluate a number of players and a number of players that are non ideal circumstances.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_00]: Alright moving over to the office, at quarterback I think we'll see Huntley until the half, I think we'll see Faniano for most of the second half, and then I think we'll see Reed for one series maybe.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_00]: So Reed just showed up and he threw a few passes in 11 on 11,
- 12:37[SPEAKER_00]: on this last day, on Thursday, he may or may not actually play in this game.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_00]: Funny I don't know why I expect to get more steps.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_00]: He could even enter the first half, it depends how they want to take care of Huntley, and it no way to let more Jackson is playing in the preseason.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_00]: So we won't see that.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_00]: In terms of running back, we won't see any Henry.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think we'll see any Justice Hill.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_00]: It is possible, seem for a few snaps.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_00]: Last year, we saw Keaton Mitchell play a fair number of snaps during the preseason, which to me was a little strange, because Mitchell had been a guy who had had injury problems and he didn't want to have him out there necessarily.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_00]: But
- 13:11[SPEAKER_00]: They had them out there for a fair amount.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_00]: This is here, I think.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_00]: Russian Ali is really on the cusp of the roster.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_00]: He needs to make a good case to be in there himself.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_00]: I think he'll get a lot of playing time.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_00]: I think we'll see a lot of Adam Randall sharing that workload probably until halftime.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_00]: And in the second half, I think it'll be, it'll be truly hand over to the threes who are Elijah Tautal over at Dante Macmillan.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_00]: So those two guys should get all the carries in the second half.
- 13:39[SPEAKER_00]: If they have to bring somebody back, that's a bad thing, but the smart rule is that you're retiring veteran that goes away in the first half is a lot to wear as street codes on the second half, but you don't do that with any of the younger players.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_00]: They have to stay uniform and be available in cases in injury to go back in.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_00]: White or Sever couldn't be more cut and dried as far as I'm concerned.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_00]: Flowers and Bateman, we will see it all in this happy really shocked if we did.
- 14:06[SPEAKER_00]: I think in half one, we will see Lane, Sarat, Walker, and Wester, and those guys should basically any targets that occur in the first half, I think it will be theirs.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_00]: The only guy who might be seen in the first half also is Gillary.
- 14:20[SPEAKER_00]: Gillary is how to really nice camp.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, Gillery Moore, Wade, Brahm, Johnson, and Octavian Smith are all second half guys.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_00]: It's interesting.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_00]: There's not a single camp darling at White Receiver this year.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_00]: And it's really just trying to figure out if there's somebody that they want.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe they want two White Receivers.
- 14:39[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe they don't want one on the practice squad.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_00]: but it would seem to me like Chris Moore is a pretty logical practice squad, candidate to keep around, you elevate him three times.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_00]: If you have an injury, you may be elevated him to the 53 after that point, but they can get value out of a player like Moore, who's now 33 years old by the way.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_00]: So he won't give them much receiving value, but he will give them a lot of special teams value if they need to bring that in.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_00]: And Gillery, he'd be a veteran wide receiver.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_00]: He's not that old or anything.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_00]: He's in a second year.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_00]: Let me just check my roster here real quick.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, Gillery actually still a year one player.
- 15:17[SPEAKER_00]: who was a free agent, then he was a free agent last year and he's a free agent in 26 on the roster, but he was a UDFA last year.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_00]: So he's a guy who, you know, he certainly could be on the practice squad and he could even be one of you developmental guys, but I think more likely, he's one of your guys you think could come in and play a little bit if you needed him to.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_00]: The ribs have kept guys on the roster like that, Keith Kirkwood and
- 15:46[SPEAKER_00]: Miller and I'm trying to think there's several names from the past sims from the past few years who've been around.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_00]: They also gone to the market with with varying degrees of success in terms of getting a wider silver in season usually not very much.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, having a guy or two like this is a way to fill out your roster and game day as inevitable soft tissue injury problems set in on your wider silver group during the year.
- 16:13[SPEAKER_00]: All right, tight end, there won't be any Andrews.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_00]: I think whatever they use of Durham's smite will be quite limited, he's a blocking tight end.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_00]: And they probably want to get him out there just to get some live action.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_00]: But he doesn't need to play a lot.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_00]: He's an older player who's ready to get the ground running.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_00]: Very mature, by the way, at the podium, seems to know exactly what he's doing, kind of a North Star for that tight end room.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure Andrews is a leader, but Smyth has certainly been around and has plenty of time with these plenty of ability to coach these younger guys.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_00]: Hibner and Quava, I'm sure, will see in half one, Hibner and Quava's neither of them has gotten a good opportunity to catch the ball, much down the field, so hopefully we'll see some throws of 10 and 15 plus yards, some opportunities get them between level two and level three.
- 17:03[SPEAKER_00]: It's very discouraging to see every ball going pretty much to the line of Scrimmage or five yards past it, whether it's 7 on 7 or 11 on 11 of these guys, and they've also had a hard time holding out of the football.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that Doyle is highly cognizant of that, he wants to run a tight-in-centric offense, and I think that they'll get a lot of opportunities to catch the football in this game.
- 17:24[SPEAKER_00]: that will have Petsa and probably Scott in half too.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_00]: And by the way, Scott's an interesting player because he's the guy who was the new Patrick Ricard last year an offensive tackle at Army.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_00]: He has slimmed down tremendously.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_00]: Now he looks like a tight end.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_00]: He's actually gotten a few targets in camp.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_00]: Probably.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_00]: six, seven targets I'd say by now.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_00]: So they're really trying to, you know, fold him into the offense a little bit.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_00]: Would not be surprised to see him be a big part of any running game in the second half, but also be a guy who might catch a pass in this ball game.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_00]: So I look forward to that.
- 17:58[SPEAKER_00]: Now, of course, the biggest issue is the center position.
- 18:01[SPEAKER_00]: And that's yet to be determined, right now it looks like, to me, that Pinter-Posic win is the current order of entry that I would expect.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_00]: Now, they may not play Posic at all in this game.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_00]: Posic,
- 18:16[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going to say he doesn't look completely right, but I'll say the indications are not very yet that they believe postsick is going to be their September opening day center.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_00]: So watch for order of entry, it really matters in this case, and it matters actually less if postsick doesn't play at all.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_00]: Um, in his case specifically, obviously the more Jackson not playing it all means the more Jackson is the superstar of the Ravens and they have no intention of of risky to injury.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_00]: In post-ex case, it means we don't want to take a chance with him right now, but we don't know if he's our number one or number two center.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_00]: So that's where how I would interpret it.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_00]: So it was probably a lot of a pinter, win, bullock, and Dawkins in this game.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_00]: They actually have five guys playing setter who are setters, primarily among the 16 offensive linemen, and they're having to play a lot of different positions.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_00]: So those guys have to play some time at guard, barrens and will be in there getting some time at guard and worries, of course.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_00]: Emory Jones, but they're very short actually on guards on this team and they have to they're using some of their overflow from center.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_00]: In particular, Cory Bullock wants to be a versatile offensive lineman.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_00]: Most of the other guys, it's just a pipe dream, like Dawkins and Quinn.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's kind of just a pipe dream for them to do it because they're both undersized.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_00]: So, but Bullock has guard size.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_00]: and terrific size for a center and you'd love to have that versatility out of him.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_00]: So anyway, I think that we'll see Bullock at Guard and Center.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, again, order of entry tells the story of your depth chart at offensive line in particular.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_00]: Now, we've actually been observing it during practice, like I'm not allowed to report on who the ones two's in three's are, but, um, they are, you know, we've, we've seen this and I've got a good idea of who I think is going to be in, in what order, but, uh, you know, one of the things that has been said about postsick in particular.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_00]: is that the injury that he has has been regularly cave-yotted and they keep saying we want to wait to try and let this play out and we won't know until the opener kind of thing because they want to get posted a quote unquote fear chance.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_00]: I think you've actually used that word.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_00]: So they're not, you know,
- 20:35[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, I expect Pinter to be the guy who gets some staffs in this game, if he really has something to prove, and I'm not sure how to say if he can prove it in a game like this.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_00]: This is one, you know, the only surprise you can get is a really bad one if the
- 20:51[SPEAKER_00]: Second team defensive linemen are having their way with pinter in this game.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_00]: It would be a very bad Omen for the rest of the season, but you know, you won't face a lot of the the Eagles massive interior You know, Jalen Carter and Davis and whatnot.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_00]: He won't so he faced them Because those guys, you know, may not may just not play at all.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_00]: So anyway
- 21:14[SPEAKER_00]: That's it for the for the for the center position and really the guards as well and then I think there's two other offensive line and I'm very interested to see where they play the first is Carson Vincent now I've made the points is Carson Vincent was drafted he's a left tackle only The Ravens have actually been trying them as a swing tackle so we may see Vincent gets some time at right tackle and while I thought that he might be a guy you really try and bubble wrap a little bit because very important for the team to as the backup tackle
- 21:41[SPEAKER_00]: I don't expect it to play as many snaps as he played in the last preseason where he basically had as many as anybody, like entire league.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_00]: But I do think that he could play until halftime and have a mix of left tackle and right tackle in there.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_00]: They've got other guys by the way with pounds and licked and hand.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_00]: and lamb that they need to get in for some staffs as well, but it'll be interesting to see if they they try and get Carson Vincent in it right tackle.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_00]: And if he's in there quickly at left tackle for say two series and then right tackle for the remainder of the half or some split during the first half, it's like that very clear indication.
- 22:16[SPEAKER_00]: that he's the guy that they're really relying on.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think there's any doubt about it, but be a very clear indication.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_00]: And him at Wright Tackle, the guy that that impacts is Emory Jones, who, if they carry nine offensive linemen, is the backup at both Wright Guard and Wright Tackle.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_00]: And if you're an offensive line coach and you value continuity, you want to set yourself up with
- 22:40[SPEAKER_00]: four or five distinct, actually, let's we'll call it five distinct, one for one substitutions you can make that do not involve you moving another player.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, you have Marshall Yando in your team, well, you could play Marshall Yada probably any of four offensive line positions, Marshall Yada was a fantastic year at Ray Taco,
- 22:59[SPEAKER_00]: He moved the left guard one year, where his shoulder was hurt.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure he could have played center, and he probably could have even played left tackle.
- 23:08[SPEAKER_00]: They never asked her to do it, but he probably could have.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_00]: But every time you do that and you have a player who can move around, you risk continuity.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_00]: And the most famous example of that is, of course, 2012, and the Ravens went into the playoffs, and Michael Lora had a terrible year at left tackle.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_00]: and Kolechia Assembly, they needed to replace the left guard situation, which was really enough block and they had Bryant McKinney, who for a number of motivational and other reasons had been sitting on the bench for the entire year.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_00]: They finally moved him to left tackle for the playoffs.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_00]: They moved order right tackle.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_00]: They moved Kolechia Assembly too.
- 23:42[SPEAKER_00]: left guard, Ocemoly really starred, or was probably no worse, and the kidney was probably a little better than a word been at left tackle, and it was a great run they had through the playoffs with that offensive line.
- 23:54[SPEAKER_00]: That's it's unusual for that sort of thing to really work out though, and offensive lines, and offensive line coaches really value the continuity of the one-for-one replacement system.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_00]: And so Emery Jones, I would think, would have been the replacement at right guard and right tackle.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_00]: If we see Emery Jones at left guard because of shortages there, it's both a good and a bad thing.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_00]: It might mean he's more likely to be just a backup at guard.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not a backup at right tackle and then they actually be thinking that Vincent is the guy at either tackle spot that will replace him.
- 24:29[SPEAKER_00]: So that's something to watch in this game is really how are those snaps being
- 24:35[SPEAKER_00]: being allocated out for the second position that the guy plays.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure we'll see Emery Jones, by the way, at right guard first in this game, or at least expect that.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_00]: Some people will ask, do we see Venga Yuanie in this game?
- 24:48[SPEAKER_00]: I asked a question of the podium and Jesse said, yes, so I do expect we'll see a series or two from him.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_00]: I should be very exciting to have him out there to what.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_00]: The guy certainly makes an impression right away.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_00]: So as you watch his blocks, I'm sure there's gonna be plenty of people who will find something They really love in even a three to six blocks sequence if that's only plays in this game So a very impressive young player and and we'll get to hopefully see a little bit of months at our night
- 25:15[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, that'll do it for right now.
