- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville Jackworth's fans, welcome in to Dove All Daily, presented by Jin Jack.com.
- 0:03[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Jordan Aluga, thanks so much for being here Tuesday, August 11th, your Jacksonville Jack Wars.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_00]: They just got done with practice a little while ago.
- 0:10[SPEAKER_00]: We recapped that practice.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_00]: Wanted to get this out, though, as well, because it seems like news that's worth getting out there on Tuesday ahead of joint practices and game week versus the Saints preseason week one.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_00]: We'll be talking up a lot more about these joint practices and the game moving forward.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_00]: But Liam Cohen kind of shared the plan for starters and backups, both in joint practices and the game with the Saints here, so we're going to get into it right here right now, really appreciate you all tuning in.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe, you can also hit that high button.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_00]: So Liam Cohen after practice today was asked about kind of the plans for starters, et cetera, for joint practices and the game.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_00]: This is his quote,
- 0:57[SPEAKER_00]: So hopefully we can survive with the ones and twos getting the majority of the joint, give the younger guys a little bit of a break during the joint so they can play the game.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_00]: Followed up on that said, we can't afford to go into a game and let the starters roll.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_00]: They're focused on getting the starters that work in the controlled environment, joint practice.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_00]: and kind of having working with this coaching staff with the Saints, taking care of each other, thudding, not like having big blind shots and tackling to the ground and all that sort of stuff.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously there will be a little bit more excitement and juice and enjoying practice playing against people you haven't played against yet.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_00]: They're trying to take care of each other, trying to take care of this roster.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_00]: And again, he mentioned survive, right?
- 1:45[SPEAKER_00]: They feel like they've got a fair amount of injuries right now.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_00]: The Jack Wars do.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you look across the roster.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_00]: We've talked about a lot of it, but Colvin Lannes, not back at Walker Little's Deal and with a little bit of an injury.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_00]: Patrick McCary has been practicing in team.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_00]: You've got quite more astound right now.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_00]: You've got, you know,
- 2:06[SPEAKER_00]: Jack Kaiser down right now.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_00]: You've got Jayle McCloud didn't practice today's actor.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_00]: If you didn't practice today, Jordan Lewis didn't practice today.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_00]: There's a just a laundry list of players.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think anybody's dealing with anything major.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_00]: Anything that's going to keep them out for a long period of time.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_00]: But you are dealing with some things, right?
- 2:30[SPEAKER_00]: And for me, the biggest thing really is just getting cold and laying them back and not having any more injuries.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_00]: Liam is really trying to focus on not having more injuries to any of the ones or twos guys that they would potentially have to rely on come week one of the regular season.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_00]: So the plan here is again, starters get your work done in the joint practice in that controlled environment.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_00]: Backups, younger guys, third, four string, like that is where you're time to shine for the game really.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_00]: He talked about a little
- 3:05[SPEAKER_00]: What they're looking for from Carter Bradley, they know Carter Bradley has the ability to run around and to make plays and be a playmaker.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_00]: They've seen that in practice, they know about his game, but as the Jaguar's third string quarterback, I think to potentially become more than the scouting quarterback for them, more than a practice squad player, they want to see the pre-snap.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_00]: coordination, control, understanding all the calls, all the checks, not having any of those mental type mistakes for him.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_00]: So that's something they're focused on with him and he'll be playing in the game for sure a lot.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if Nick Mullins will get any run in the game.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_00]: I would say it's safe to assume now at this point based on what Liam Cohen said.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_00]: that your starters are not going to be playing on Saturday against the Saints.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_00]: Any of the big starters.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_00]: Now maybe is it possible like a ventral miller and Branson Combs battle plays out throughout that maybe, but even them, they probably feel comfortable enough with those guys that maybe they don't wanna see them now.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_00]: Branson Combs doesn't have as much time on task, guys much experience, so maybe you do see him.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not sure, but
- 4:17[SPEAKER_00]: These players that are top to your players for the jag wars legitimate.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_00]: lock it in, ride it in, pin, type starters, and the key rotational players, I don't think you're gonna see them at all.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think you're gonna see Trevor Lawrence or Parker Washington or Travis Hunter, you name it.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_00]: I just don't think you're gonna see those guys.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, that's not set in stone.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't seem like he didn't say no starters are playing, but he basically said, look, our plan is for the starters to get their work in during the joint practice and for the younger guys and the backups to go,
- 4:51[SPEAKER_00]: attack the game.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_00]: That's the plan.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_00]: So I know some jacks fans might not be really fired up about that, you know, they might want to see the starters, some people might believe that starters need to play in the preseason.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_00]: I really, and I said this to one of my buddies, you know, practice today.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_00]: I really don't care what they do because I can see the argument for not having
- 5:19[SPEAKER_00]: You are running the risk of having a cheap shot, a big hit.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_00]: You name it on one of your starters in a meaningless game.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_00]: You really want Trevor Lawrence out there with the potential to take a hit like he did against disease, I'll show you here.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_00]: Do you really want anybody out there just running the risk of a massive hit?
- 5:47[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think you do.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_00]: I get that for sure.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_00]: On the flip side of that coin, people are like, well, you need to tackle live.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_00]: You need to be ready for the season, all that stuff.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_00]: I get that argument.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's a little bit of an old school mindset.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_00]: I think these are professionals and yet is it possible that tackling won't be as clean in week one as it would be if they tackled
- 6:15[SPEAKER_00]: to and through the whistle throughout all of training camp and the preseason and all that stuff.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe, it is, it is absolutely possible, but I would trust in this coaching staff a little bit more than I would trust in myself.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_00]: And that specific, not just coaching staff, coaching staff, training staff, strength and conditioning, medical, all that stuff, to have a better plan and place in to be more informed on their decisions.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_00]: then I would be as an outside observer or if you're just a fan or whatever it may be.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm happy with their decision either way.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_00]: Honestly, the one time last year where I was kind of critical
- 6:56[SPEAKER_00]: Before the injury happened, I was like, why is Cole Van Lannon still out there?
- 6:59[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you don't have the ability to feel a full starting five, or a full backup five offensive linemen on game, but you don't have 10 offensive linemen dressed for game day.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_00]: right so i get that but like if there's two offensive linemen you do not want in there you you can't afford to not have an a playoff game i think last year was cold band landed and it was ants on hair since so i was a little bit critical at that moment you could have gotten those guys out of there for sure in my opinion but hey
- 7:32[SPEAKER_00]: Um, it seems like they're, they're going to air on the side of caution here and that's good because they do have a lot of young, they've had even though they, you know, traded for Travis Hunter last year, they have a big draft class from 2025 that needs experience out there, including some of the undrafted for agents like, you know, Danny Sturgo and B.J.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_00]: Green, you want to continue to see those guys, um, and then 2026 draft class.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_00]: This is their first stop.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_00]: people that are not there teammates.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm very excited to see how it plays out and how they do and all that stuff.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm not going to be there at Joint Practice in New Orleans.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_00]: So it'll be one of those things where it's like we're trying to...
- 8:16[SPEAKER_00]: follow all the different Saints beat reporters and whoever is there for the Jaguars to kind of get a read on how things are going and we'll address that when we get to it on Thursday for sure but yeah as of now it looks like Jaguars starters playing in the joint practice not really playing in the game Jaguars
- 8:36[SPEAKER_00]: Young players, rookies, third string, force string, probably playing more in the game than in the joint practice.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_00]: So that'll do, that'll be that for now.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all tuning in.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, you're pleased to like and subscribe and y'all have a great one.
