Transcript
- 0:04[SPEAKER_00]: As we end our week looking to Jesus, today we'll explore one of my favorite aspects of his nature, his humility.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_00]: Jesus, the king of all the earth, the one who has every reason to boast and show his power, chooses the path of humility, of submission, of lowering himself.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_00]: We have so much to learn from this beautiful king.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_00]: It is my hope that you are encouraged and challenged today, but also that your heart is burst open and flooded with worship at the beauty of our Jesus.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to the first 15 podcast.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_00]: Her Scripture for today comes from Philippians 2, verses 5 through 7, Scripture says, Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,
- 1:27[SPEAKER_00]: Who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_00]: There has never been a greater depth of humility than what we find in Jesus.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_00]: He was a man marked by astonishing sacrifice.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_00]: He lived in utter devotion to God the Father and us, his undeserving people.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_00]: Philippians 2 vs. 5 through 7 says, have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of man.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_00]: Jesus became a servant so we could be made sons and daughters.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_00]: He took on flesh that our flesh might find true redemption.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_00]: He emptied himself of that which he was rightfully owed that we might receive grace upon grace which we've done nothing to deserve.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_00]: the coming of Christ we celebrate at Christmas is entirely descriptive of the heart of God.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_00]: Just as Jesus came to make a way for us, He comes still.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_00]: Just as Jesus came that faithful day millennia ago, He comes to meet with us still.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_00]: and just as the world received its greatest gift in Jesus, we still find in the presence of God our greatest gift on a daily basis.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_00]: We can find hope and joy in the fact that we serve a humble king.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_00]: Our king does nothing from selfish ambition.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_00]: Unlike us, he does nothing to better himself or cover for his own inadequacies.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_00]: rather because he is already entirely full and complete, he gives of himself freely, that we might live in the light of his grace and love.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't use his deity to demand anything from us, but instead to give us life, breath, and meaning.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_00]: find hope for your past, present, and future.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_00]: In the simple truth that Jesus has and will continue to be everything you need.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_00]: Open your heart to receive the life-giving presence of your humble king through guided prayer.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_00]: as we begin, meditate on the humility of Jesus, allow Scripture to paint a clear picture of the heart of God.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_00]: Philippians 2 verses 5 through 7 says, have this mind among yourselves which is yours in Christ Jesus.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_00]: Who though he was in the form of God did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_00]: and next, choose to trust in the humble leadership of God.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_00]: Give Jesus every part of your life, knowing that he doesn't lead you out of selfish motives, but leads you entirely for your good.

- 8:18[SPEAKER_00]: Philippians 2 verses 9 through 11, illustrates a truth of the kingdom we as believers need to know.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_00]: Scripture says, therefore God has highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name that is above every name.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_00]: so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow in heaven and on earth and under the earth.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_00]: And every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God, the Father.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_00]: Jesus is the perfect example of the truth that everyone who exalts himself will be humbled and he who humbles himself will be exalted.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_00]: the pathway to life in God is humility.
