- 0:02Speaker 1: Not one, not two, three game threes, three game threes
- 0:08Speaker 1: more than yeah combined. We didn't have three games threes
- 0:15Speaker 1: combined in the last few years. This is really cool,
- 0:18Speaker 1: you know what. I also thought of the Toronto Blue
- 0:21Speaker 1: Jays not having to deal with this Yankees Red Sox
- 0:25Speaker 1: series and of course being all loaded up for their
- 0:28Speaker 1: division series. This is why winning the division is so important.
- 0:32Speaker 1: I like that. I like when the importance of the
- 0:34Speaker 1: regular season remains great huge. Look at the difference between
- 0:40Speaker 1: what Toronto's experiencing right now and what the Yankees are experiencing. Now.
- 0:43Speaker 1: That doesn't mean that the Yankees want Red Sox or
- 0:45Speaker 1: the Red Sox right but I'm saying because those two
- 0:47Speaker 1: came down to the wire, Yankees still might win a series,
- 0:50Speaker 1: then beat the Blue Jakes, whatever, But anybody that says
- 0:53Speaker 1: they would take the Yankees path over the blue Jays
- 0:55Speaker 1: path needs to get a head examination.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Plus win the division.
- 1:01Speaker 1: It's big, yes, very cool, so I'm excited about it.
- 1:06Speaker 1: We are going to do a postgame show for the
- 1:09Speaker 1: Guardians and the Tigers after that game goes down at
- 1:16Speaker 1: three o'clock Eastern time. That game's been going on during
- 1:19Speaker 1: our show. And finally, we got it out of there.
- 1:21Speaker 1: We were competing with them, so we'll be able to
- 1:24Speaker 1: give more love to the Tigers and Guardians. We did
- 1:26Speaker 1: Cubs Padres the last couple of days. This time Tiger's
- 1:29Speaker 1: Guardians Game three live on the ft YouTube channel. That
- 1:32Speaker 1: game's at three pm Eastern time, so say five thirty
- 1:35Speaker 1: six o'clock ish, you can check us out. We'll talk
- 1:38Speaker 1: about that one. We're going to talk about the rest
- 1:41Speaker 1: of the game threes tomorrow. We've got an off day
- 1:43Speaker 1: of MLB games tomorrow, so we'll cover everything. But also
- 1:47Speaker 1: you still are covered later on Yankees and Red Sox.
- 1:49Speaker 1: You've got Monster Territory, you've got Pinstripe Territory. And last night,
- 1:55Speaker 1: at about one in the morning, you guys weren't awake,
- 1:58Speaker 1: the Dodgers territory featured Clint Pissius and a substitution for
- 2:05Speaker 1: someone who was out with a little illness. You know,
- 2:09Speaker 1: I got the late was over Rokie Sazagi. Baby. Well,
- 2:13Speaker 1: we'll get to it. We'll get to it. But it
- 2:15Speaker 1: was fun. I was having a good time on that
- 2:17Speaker 1: postgame show. So anyway, let's charge the mound, presented by LYDDS.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Let's charging about.
- 2:25Speaker 1: We love lidds. Look at the code while we chat
- 2:28Speaker 1: about lidds, but really, let's start with the Los Angeles
- 2:31Speaker 1: Dodgers advancing to the NLDS to take on the Philadelphia Phillies.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Reporting live right now from Parts Unknown on the Phillies
- 2:38Speaker 1: is aerkrats. What do you think of this matchup? This
- 2:41Speaker 1: heavyweight tilt that we're about to see?
- 2:44Speaker 3: What do I think of it? Two days ago I
- 2:45Speaker 3: was like, oh, yeah, the Phillies. You know, Dodgers are
- 2:48Speaker 3: hot ending the season. The Phillies got this for sure.
- 2:51Speaker 3: And then the Dodgers played two games. People will say
- 2:54Speaker 3: ats against the reds. Ah, they didn't really, you know,
- 2:58Speaker 3: it wasn't even that much of a challenge. Tell me
- 3:01Speaker 3: where the Dodgers falls are besides the bullpen. Dave Roberts
- 3:07Speaker 3: did exactly what we didn't know if he was going
- 3:09Speaker 3: to do or not, and go with his starting rotation deeper.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Yamamoto won one hundred and a million pitches. Blake Snow
- 3:16Speaker 3: went farther than he ever has. This team couldn't be
- 3:20Speaker 3: hitting on more cylinders. And then I just heard Will
- 3:23Speaker 3: Smith most likely going to be available for every single
- 3:26Speaker 3: game in that series, adding to a lineup that scored
- 3:30Speaker 3: eighteen runs I think in two games. So Phillies are
- 3:34Speaker 3: going to have their hands full right now. It might
- 3:37Speaker 3: even tilt towards the Dodgers.
- 3:42Speaker 1: I think these are the two best teams in baseball.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I think this is going to be unbelievable series.
- 3:48Speaker 2: I think that this is going to be the series
- 3:51Speaker 2: that might produce the World Series winner because of the
- 3:55Speaker 2: depth of the pitching staffs, the depths of the lineup,
- 3:58Speaker 2: the fans, the home fields, the star power. It's a
- 4:02Speaker 2: shame this isn't in the DS or see us. Excuse me,
- 4:05Speaker 2: I agree, but it's in the DS. Whose fault is that, la, No,
- 4:09Speaker 2: it's Milwaukee's fault. No, it's the Dodger's fault, Milwaukee's. They
- 4:13Speaker 2: were supposed to win one hundred and eighty nine games
- 4:14Speaker 2: this year and they did not. They didn't even get
- 4:17Speaker 2: a buye. So this is what happens. I mean, this
- 4:20Speaker 2: is Milwaukee rivers for being good.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Yeah, dude, I think most people expected the Dodgers to
- 4:28Speaker 1: win more than they did.
- 4:29Speaker 2: Well, of course they did, but they didn't expect their
- 4:31Speaker 2: bullpend of just completely fall apart and then just take
- 4:33Speaker 2: weeks off at a time.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Are we good with THEO.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Looked great last night.
- 4:37Speaker 1: He was fantastic. I mean got screwed the first inning
- 4:40Speaker 1: dropping the.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Fly ball and Sal Stewart hit ninety seven hopper through
- 4:43Speaker 2: the right side. Yeah, he nine punchies. He looked good,
- 4:48Speaker 2: really good, good good Velossy ninety seven, ninety seven, ninety
- 4:51Speaker 2: eight dropping in curveballs.
- 4:55Speaker 1: That's a tough picture. That is a tough picture to face.
- 4:57Speaker 2: It is in hockey, obviously at the back end, coming
- 5:00Speaker 2: and throwing one hundred.
- 5:01Speaker 1: How cool is that he's got a hondo. The splitter
- 5:03Speaker 1: is insane and this is actually kind of perfect for him. Right,
- 5:06Speaker 1: He's had injury issues, he's had trouble keeping v loan games.
- 5:09Speaker 1: We don't know if he can be a thirty two
- 5:11Speaker 1: game starter. He's also like twenty three years old. Go
- 5:14Speaker 1: for it, hold alm tech, what do you take? I mean,
- 5:20Speaker 1: call this reminder. This is uh, this is for a
- 5:24Speaker 1: guest who's who's coming on the show.
- 5:25Speaker 3: And you gotta you gotta take, you gotta take big good,
- 5:28Speaker 3: big leaguers calls.
- 5:30Speaker 2: Okay, all right, you won't ask me to call you
- 5:31Speaker 2: to reminder, So you got ten.
- 5:32Speaker 1: Minutes crats, All right, give me the breakdown.
- 5:34Speaker 2: All right, thanks brother.
- 5:36Speaker 1: All right, I'll just let everyone know. We can tell everyone.
- 5:39Speaker 2: I don't care.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Yeah, that was Nick confirming. I want someone to be like, oh,
- 5:43Speaker 1: it was just making a call.
- 5:45Speaker 2: That was casting because he told me to. Yeah, he
- 5:48Speaker 2: told me to call him and remind him, so I
- 5:49Speaker 2: text him. He didn't respond, so then I called him
- 5:51Speaker 2: and then so he just called me back and I
- 5:53Speaker 2: was like, hey, we're good in ten minutes, and he's like, yeah, perfect,
- 5:56Speaker 2: talk to you then. But you know, when people ask
- 5:58Speaker 2: you to remind him, I forget some time.
- 6:00Speaker 1: I agree. Yes, he's confirmed, he'll get us in five
- 6:07Speaker 1: ten minutes. But are you okay with where the Dodgers
- 6:11Speaker 1: bullpen is at now?
- 6:13Speaker 2: Yeah? I want to know. So they're going show hey,
- 6:15Speaker 2: game one, do we know who's going Game two?
- 6:18Speaker 1: Hershaw No, I would think glass now.
- 6:20Speaker 2: Class okay, So then they go snow rere Rerackani's gonna
- 6:26Speaker 2: throw on regular rest.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Well, so he's got an off day after getting another
- 6:32Speaker 1: off day.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Yes, that's right. I forgot twice in Philly.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, that's cool. Finally it's gonna happen. We've
- 6:41Speaker 1: never seen Otani pitch in the playoffs.
- 6:45Speaker 2: We're going to.
- 6:47Speaker 1: But I do think. I mean, Kratz, you've seen the
- 6:50Speaker 1: Phillies bullpen. You know much more than we have. The
- 6:53Speaker 1: Phillies have what three or four guys that you feel
- 6:55Speaker 1: really good about? Do the Dodgers have that? Right? Like,
- 6:59Speaker 1: I'm the biggest Rokie Sazaki fan right now. I think
- 7:02Speaker 1: he's going to continue it. But that's just come out
- 7:05Speaker 1: of the blue suddenly, right he made two appearances at
- 7:07Speaker 1: the end of the regular season. What are we trusting
- 7:11Speaker 1: right now in the bullpen? And Mechian looked bad, Bessie
- 7:14Speaker 1: has been okay, Dryer looked bad. I mean, go down
- 7:18Speaker 1: the line here. You're wondering if there are guys in
- 7:21Speaker 1: ruts or guys that were just getting back into the
- 7:25Speaker 1: feel of the postseason versus how Duran will look kirkering.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Who else am I missing of the big boys?
- 7:33Speaker 2: You don't know?
- 7:34Speaker 3: You don't know, I mean David Robertson, Tanner Banks, You're
- 7:37Speaker 3: I'm missing somebody else that you know?
- 7:39Speaker 2: Is that Core?
- 7:40Speaker 3: I think it's like four or five guys. To me,
- 7:43Speaker 3: we know what we have with the Dodgers' bullpen. If
- 7:46Speaker 3: the Phillies make them throw strikes, the Reds did not
- 7:50Speaker 3: make them throw strikes in two a sense, Rokie, I
- 7:53Speaker 3: mean Yoshi Novu, he didn't throw a ton of pitches
- 7:58Speaker 3: in the zone. They chased way, but his stuff's a
- 8:01Speaker 3: lot nastier than anybody in their pen. The Phillies make
- 8:04Speaker 3: the Dodgers pen throw strikes, then they're cooked. I think
- 8:08Speaker 3: the Dodgers' bullpen is cooked because even even Sasaki's even
- 8:13Speaker 3: rokies out in yesterday, if he has to throw in
- 8:17Speaker 3: the zone, it's more hit able stuff at a hundred.
- 8:22Speaker 3: Is he gonna be able to with Is he gonna
- 8:24Speaker 3: be able to keep one hundred up all the time
- 8:26Speaker 3: because he's not starting and he's gonna pitch back to
- 8:28Speaker 3: back nights. Those are questions too. If he's at that level,
- 8:32Speaker 3: If he's at that level with that fork ball coming
- 8:34Speaker 3: off of it, sure, I don't know. But they have
- 8:38Speaker 3: to throw in the zone. They have to throw strikes
- 8:40Speaker 3: in the zone because the Phillies will make them stay
- 8:43Speaker 3: in the zone.
- 8:46Speaker 1: What do you think is that the X factor or
- 8:49Speaker 1: the deciding rope the battle of the bullpens. Both lineups
- 8:54Speaker 1: should be good, both starters should be good.
- 8:57Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it comes down to one. How Dave
- 8:59Speaker 2: Robert Tandeles ball. Then what does he get? Can he
- 9:01Speaker 2: get anything out of Tanner's coock? Can he get anything
- 9:03Speaker 2: out of trying? And she looked awful last night. He
- 9:05Speaker 2: looked like, whoa, well, what am I doing out here? Bad? Right?
- 9:09Speaker 2: I mean he had to bring didn't bring Vessey in
- 9:11Speaker 2: in like a one two count or something. I loved it.
- 9:15Speaker 1: I was like, wait, what one two? And He's like,
- 9:17Speaker 1: I don't think he's going to be able to finish
- 9:19Speaker 1: anyone right now, so I'm just gonna take him out.
- 9:21Speaker 1: He's he doesn't have the strikeout stuff Benson get then
- 9:24Speaker 1: gets replaced by and Dohart for one strike. I didn't
- 9:28Speaker 1: like that's but yeah, but I.
- 9:30Speaker 2: Mean Keto is going for the he's trying to get
- 9:32Speaker 2: back in the game. They were down eight to four
- 9:33Speaker 2: at that point, so he was trying to hope and
- 9:34Speaker 2: do our ran into one mad making eight seven or
- 9:36Speaker 2: whatever it was. And but the whole key to this
- 9:39Speaker 2: series is whose bullpen pitch is better? Because we saw
- 9:42Speaker 2: Strom and Hoffman and some of these guys kirkering last
- 9:44Speaker 2: and the postseason against the Mets las year. They didn't
- 9:46Speaker 2: pitch very well. So Duran, okay, but then we'll Strom
- 9:51Speaker 2: and Kirkering and some of these other guys step up
- 9:54Speaker 2: and take over because no starter is going to go
- 9:57Speaker 2: nine innings.
- 9:58Speaker 1: No, And if you're Philly, I think you try to
- 10:01Speaker 1: do what the Reds did. Okay, in the first inning
- 10:05Speaker 1: of their Game two loss, they actually took some decent
- 10:10Speaker 1: pitches from Yamamoto. They were not biting at some pitches
- 10:13Speaker 1: from him, and then it all kind of fell apart.
- 10:15Speaker 1: Yamamoto was locating more, but they did not bite as
- 10:18Speaker 1: much and Tao made the mistake. He had a twenty
- 10:20Speaker 1: six pitch first. Yeah.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean he won fourteen extra pitches because Tao
- 10:24Speaker 2: dropped the fly ba totally so great. But also, yeah,
- 10:28Speaker 2: they put them at bats on. They filed off a
- 10:30Speaker 2: bunch of pitches. They did take some pitches, but as
- 10:32Speaker 2: the game went on, Yamamoto got better. Oh yeah, and
- 10:34Speaker 2: so it was like once he saw it once after
- 10:36Speaker 2: that first thing, he was like, all right, once the
- 10:38Speaker 2: Dodgers started swinging in Mookie four hits and you're like
- 10:41Speaker 2: you could just sense it coming.
- 10:42Speaker 1: Yeah, But if you're on Philly, is that part of
- 10:45Speaker 1: your game plan? Hey, let's try and ride a pitch counsel,
- 10:48Speaker 1: because get in the bullpen we want.
- 10:50Speaker 2: The bullets as possible. Let's get we want we want.
- 10:52Speaker 2: Whoever comes out of that door is not going to
- 10:55Speaker 2: be as good as the guy that's starting for the Dodgers,
- 10:57Speaker 2: so we want that guy out there as quick as
- 10:59Speaker 2: we can get him and Krats.
- 11:00Speaker 1: We might have a postseason that features a lot more
- 11:04Speaker 1: high pitch counts than we've seen in several years because
- 11:07Speaker 1: one hundred's been such a capper so often. But I
- 11:11Speaker 1: think that we're kind of reaching this breaking point where
- 11:14Speaker 1: starting pitching talent, especially the high end ones on the
- 11:18Speaker 1: good teams, I'd rather have an extra inding or two
- 11:20Speaker 1: out of them in many cases.
- 11:23Speaker 3: But you're also looking at teams that they were facing
- 11:26Speaker 3: the bottom part of the order that's a little bit
- 11:28Speaker 3: weaker crochet bottom part of the order. When he stayed
- 11:32Speaker 3: in there, Yamamoto was just better than the entire reds order.
- 11:36Speaker 3: Guys that are going deeper, it's going to be a
- 11:39Speaker 3: matter of where they're at in the order. Philly Christopher
- 11:42Speaker 3: Sanchez has shown he can go eight to nine innings,
- 11:44Speaker 3: but you're also facing Key k Hernandez at the bottom
- 11:47Speaker 3: of their order. You're also facing, you know, a pretty
- 11:50Speaker 3: deep lineup, so you might not see it quite as deep,
- 11:53Speaker 3: but I mean it's it's a thing this year and.
- 11:55Speaker 2: I love it.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Yeah, and I don't need to hear it from the
- 11:59Speaker 1: other side here, I get it. BeO is taken out
- 12:02Speaker 1: early and Dylan c is taken out early. I'm not
- 12:05Speaker 1: saying this is universal. I'm just saying we hadn't seen
- 12:07Speaker 1: pitches like this. Oh, we got Nick coming up. We
- 12:09Speaker 1: hadn't seen pitch counts like this in a minute, So
- 12:12Speaker 1: let's break. Let's get to Nick Castianos next on FT
- 12:15Speaker 1: Oh and a reminder text Territory two nine zero one
- 12:18Speaker 1: seven two or two Lids two nine zero one seven
- 12:22Speaker 1: and received twenty percent off your next headwear or a
- 12:24Speaker 1: Pyrell purchase at any US lidstore. Will tell you more
- 12:26Speaker 1: about it at the end of the show. I liked
- 12:28Speaker 1: this tweet. I just brought it out for you. Imagine
- 12:30Speaker 1: if your team had a rotation of Crochet, Roe, Done Gildo.
- 12:36Speaker 1: That would be crazy. From Chuck on Twitter last night.
- 12:40Speaker 2: What team would ever ever have had all those people
- 12:43Speaker 2: on one team? What is there any I just I'm
- 12:47Speaker 2: scratching my head. I can't think of what team would
- 12:50Speaker 2: possibly what.
- 12:52Speaker 1: If they had Prime Chris Sale.
- 12:54Speaker 2: On top of all because of Chris Sales.
- 12:57Speaker 1: That's true. That's true.
- 12:57Speaker 2: Gosh, what team I don't know. I'm scratching my lid here,
- 13:00Speaker 2: my lid's head here. Which which one was it? I
- 13:06Speaker 2: don't know. The White Sox had all those guys. The
- 13:09Speaker 2: White Sox had all of Now, Crochet wasn't a starter
- 13:12Speaker 2: at the time, but they also, yeah, they also.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Had Yeah, they probably should have made him a starter.
- 13:17Speaker 2: They did last year, remember, and then Chuck garfind said
- 13:20Speaker 2: it was all his fault. They lost one hundred and
- 13:21Speaker 2: twenty one game. Remember that.
- 13:23Speaker 1: Why was starter right away.
- 13:26Speaker 2: Because they brought him up early and he got hurt, right,
- 13:28Speaker 2: We have to remember he got hurt right away. Yes,
- 13:30Speaker 2: So he came up in twenty twenty, like fresh out
- 13:32Speaker 2: of college, hurt his elbow like the next year, and
- 13:35Speaker 2: so then they were trying to take it easy on him.
- 13:37Speaker 2: But they this is what they did with Chris Sale,
- 13:39Speaker 2: and they thought it would work again. They Chris Sale
- 13:42Speaker 2: was in the bullpen when he first came up, and
- 13:43Speaker 2: they're like, oh, he could be our closer, and so
- 13:45Speaker 2: I was like, I want to start, and finally they said,
- 13:47Speaker 2: a right, we're going to start you because you're pretty good.
- 13:49Speaker 1: It did work out for both. I know, yeah, they
- 13:53Speaker 1: don't get to reap all the benefits of the second one.
- 13:55Speaker 1: Brett Anderson, former big league pitcher, tweeted this last night.
- 13:58Speaker 1: Arguably the best pitch ever thrown by a human being.
- 14:01Speaker 1: He retweeted or quote tweeted one of the Mason Miller
- 14:04Speaker 1: pitches from yesterday.
- 14:05Speaker 2: It was one hundred and four point five.
- 14:08Speaker 1: Dott, It don't what do you do with that pitch?
- 14:10Speaker 2: Nothing? You do what Carson Kelly did? You just go
- 14:12Speaker 2: back to dugout and go, uh yeah, help. I don't
- 14:16Speaker 2: know what do you try to file it off? I
- 14:17Speaker 2: don't even know if you can follow the pitch off.
- 14:21Speaker 3: Four point fifty dead center, Baby, that's what you do
- 14:24Speaker 3: with it Back in my day, that's exactly what you
- 14:27Speaker 3: tell That's what's exactly what you tell everybody to do
- 14:30Speaker 3: if you can throw the pitch down in a way.
- 14:32Speaker 3: But we all live up in the zone, banger ripping
- 14:35Speaker 3: the Tommy John Slider. That pitch right there is unhittable.
- 14:40Speaker 3: That really is the most perfect pitch in all baseball.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Oh and it was at one hundred and four point five.
- 14:47Speaker 1: What was it? His first eight batters faced were strikeouts. Yeah,
- 14:51Speaker 1: until you hit the guy right we're in the postseason.
- 14:54Speaker 1: These are good hitters and he is just mowing down.
- 14:58Speaker 1: He is amping it up to another And for me, Kratz,
- 15:01Speaker 1: I'm grateful that he was traded because I brought this
- 15:05Speaker 1: up yesterday. Our sport can see guys go through their
- 15:09Speaker 1: prime and not play in the postseason. We all deserve,
- 15:12Speaker 1: the world deserves to have people like Mason Miller at
- 15:15Speaker 1: center stage. Not with the A's who are in an
- 15:18Speaker 1: eighty year rebuild.
- 15:20Speaker 3: I don't think they need to make the postseason. I
- 15:21Speaker 3: think they need to need to see guys like this
- 15:23Speaker 3: in positions to push their team into the postseason. It's
- 15:26Speaker 3: too hard to always say, oh, we're gonna make the postseason.
- 15:29Speaker 3: I hope Leo DeVries is a ridiculous player one day,
- 15:35Speaker 3: because that's who they gave up to get Mason Miller.
- 15:39Speaker 3: Worth every penny. Whatever he becomes, it is worth every
- 15:42Speaker 3: penny if this guy, If Mason Miller pushes the Padres
- 15:46Speaker 3: onto a World Series, onto World Series championship.
- 15:50Speaker 1: I think even if he's just pitching well for them
- 15:52Speaker 1: in postseason games, then.
- 15:55Speaker 2: He's done this postseason. He's worth every No. I mean
- 15:57Speaker 2: if they win this series, question is yes, which we'll
- 16:02Speaker 2: get into a little bit here.
- 16:03Speaker 1: But yeah, we'll get into it.
- 16:04Speaker 2: Get into it. But what he's done, all right, I
- 16:06Speaker 2: mean he's the most dominant pitcher going right now.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Better than box scores. What a Yankees Red Sox series.
- 16:19Speaker 1: This is reigniting the rivalry. In my mind, it is
- 16:23Speaker 1: taking center stage. It is prime time, and we'll mix
- 16:26Speaker 1: in our thoughts from Games one and two, but I
- 16:28Speaker 1: do want to make sure we push it forward, and
- 16:30Speaker 1: I would like to start with the fact that you
- 16:33Speaker 1: have two big markets, storied franchises, both postseason bound, and
- 16:37Speaker 1: they're in an elimination game. One of them is going
- 16:40Speaker 1: to see their season end, and they're both throwing out rookies.
- 16:45Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. One of them is from Northeastern Went
- 16:49Speaker 2: is in Boston. Schlitters, from which the Way.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Was a Red Sox fan, Yes, of course he was.
- 16:56Speaker 2: And Early right.
- 16:56Speaker 1: Early Connelly Early has four big league starts.
- 17:00Speaker 2: Well, that's what they got.
- 17:02Speaker 1: So this isn't a slight They both have great stuff.
- 17:04Speaker 1: I'm just like.
- 17:06Speaker 2: Here, this is great right here.
- 17:08Speaker 1: Camp Sill Schlittler, Schlittler. I've said it a lot this
- 17:12Speaker 1: year and I've heard the broadcasters struggle through it first
- 17:15Speaker 1: time facing Boston.
- 17:17Speaker 2: That's amazing.
- 17:18Speaker 1: That was his first time facing Boston. Yeah, they do
- 17:22Speaker 1: the exhibition game, but.
- 17:24Speaker 2: Listen, it's pretty awesome that this is how much the
- 17:27Speaker 2: game has changed. Remember John Lackey back in two thousand
- 17:29Speaker 2: and two pitch game seven for the Angels, was the
- 17:31Speaker 2: first rookie to start a game seven. And like forever
- 17:34Speaker 2: and now here we are elimination games. We got rookie
- 17:37Speaker 2: starting over Chiconi and Cleveland, right and these two rookies starting.
- 17:41Speaker 2: There's rookie starting all over the place. So it's this,
- 17:44Speaker 2: this is just the way it is now in baseball.
- 17:46Speaker 2: You can go with the guys and the best stuff,
- 17:48Speaker 2: you hope to get them one time through the order,
- 17:50Speaker 2: and then you run to the bullpen.
- 17:51Speaker 1: And it's a younger game, right. Yeah, so many rookies
- 17:54Speaker 1: got called up. There's so many stories where it's like
- 17:56Speaker 1: this guy was in a ball in the beginning of
- 17:58Speaker 1: the season and look where he is now. I mean,
- 18:01Speaker 1: we're getting a lot of that.
- 18:03Speaker 3: I'd hate to see these dudes enable because they are
- 18:05Speaker 3: throwing up some nasty funk Schlitler Schlittler just rose through
- 18:10Speaker 3: the system and to see that in the bushes, you're like,
- 18:14Speaker 3: when do we play this? When do we play Somerset again?
- 18:16Speaker 3: The Yankees double a. Maybe he'll be out of here
- 18:19Speaker 3: next time we get through here. I love it, though,
- 18:23Speaker 3: I love it. You go with the best people you.
- 18:25Speaker 2: Got and again they're gonna be out They're not gonna
- 18:27Speaker 2: be out there very long. They're gonna be out there.
- 18:30Speaker 2: If they get three innings out of them, both these
- 18:33Speaker 2: guys before they run to the bullpen, it'll be it'll
- 18:36Speaker 2: be a great job by both of them.
- 18:37Speaker 1: But if they're pitching, well, they'll let them eat. No,
- 18:40Speaker 1: you don't think so. I think the Yankees have to
- 18:42Speaker 1: be careful. Schlitler's had some really strong performances and he
- 18:46Speaker 1: can go deep. Yeah, I think the Yankees have to
- 18:50Speaker 1: be careful about pulling someone early. Like do you do
- 18:52Speaker 1: you like the way that they handled Rodin?
- 18:56Speaker 2: Well, you know what, it was funny. Aaron Boone took
- 18:57Speaker 2: all the heat next and then he went to get
- 19:01Speaker 2: him and Roddan talked his way back in. He got
- 19:03Speaker 2: the next two guys out and obviously got out in
- 19:06Speaker 2: a double play. He got out of it and then
- 19:07Speaker 2: he let him go back out there and it was
- 19:09Speaker 2: walk walk, Remember, cruise came in and I don't know
- 19:13Speaker 2: what down a bunnet tempire, Saddan Rafaela was. He literally
- 19:17Speaker 2: tried to bun at a ball that might have hit
- 19:18Speaker 2: Aaron Boone in the home, dugout how far outside it was,
- 19:21Speaker 2: popped it up, and then obviously he got out of it.
- 19:24Speaker 2: But yeah, I mean the Red Sox kind of let
- 19:27Speaker 2: him off the hook.
- 19:27Speaker 1: I felt like a little bit there isn't the boon
- 19:29Speaker 1: decision a direct reaction to Game one? Yes, has to be.
- 19:34Speaker 2: He heard all the he heard all the static.
- 19:36Speaker 1: Also they lost. They lost Game one? Is that simple?
- 19:40Speaker 1: I mean, look at Dave Roberts letting Yamamoto pitch a
- 19:42Speaker 1: career high in terms of his tosses and Kraft. It's
- 19:46Speaker 1: not always going to work out. I mean, we had
- 19:48Speaker 1: a time period where managers let starters go really deep
- 19:51Speaker 1: into postseason outings until third fourth time around they started
- 19:54Speaker 1: getting hit. Some didn't need to be pitching that deep
- 19:56Speaker 1: into outings. But in this particular scenario, you think the
- 20:00Speaker 1: Yankees are making some adjustments on the fly, And how
- 20:02Speaker 1: do you think that factors into Schlitler because the same
- 20:05Speaker 1: bullpen guys are being used. So the reds Acts are
- 20:07Speaker 1: going to get another look at them if they're gonna
- 20:09Speaker 1: use them.
- 20:09Speaker 2: Again, because I know yesterday, especially at the end. Yeah,
- 20:15Speaker 2: but you can't let that guy go that many pitches.
- 20:17Speaker 2: I'm sorry, you can't let go forty something pitches because
- 20:20Speaker 2: he's not available today.
- 20:22Speaker 1: No, he's not. But Fernando Cruz has pitched both games, right,
- 20:25Speaker 1: Bednar's pitched both games? Is Devin Williams both both games? Okay?
- 20:30Speaker 1: So those three are they gonna all pitch again?
- 20:32Speaker 2: Yes, okay, I'm sure all three of them. Well, yes,
- 20:38Speaker 2: a huge amount of pitches.
- 20:39Speaker 1: If Schlittler's going three, you have a lot to do
- 20:42Speaker 1: to get to those guys. Kratz, if he looks like
- 20:46Speaker 1: I've seen him in many of his outings, I'm lettinghim eet.
- 20:50Speaker 3: Scoreboard isn't this isn't this section called better than box scores?
- 20:55Speaker 3: Check out the scoreboard. That is exactly how long you're
- 20:57Speaker 3: gonna let them go. If it's a zero zero game
- 21:01Speaker 3: and the lane comes up where there's a chance somebody
- 21:04Speaker 3: has a two zero count in front of the lane
- 21:07Speaker 3: of where another pitcher is gonna have a better chance
- 21:10Speaker 3: than Schlitler. That guy's coming in. That's that's how it's
- 21:14Speaker 3: gonna go. Now the Yankees come out, they hit a
- 21:16Speaker 3: three run dinger in the first Schlittler might be able
- 21:20Speaker 3: to cruise through that lane if he's continued to go well.
- 21:24Speaker 3: No manager is going to lose with a rookie on
- 21:28Speaker 3: the mound. No manager is going to lose with their
- 21:31Speaker 3: best pin hitters on the bench, with their best with
- 21:35Speaker 3: their best pitchers in the bullpen in an elimination game.
- 21:40Speaker 1: Chapman's got two innings in him if they want, if they.
- 21:43Speaker 3: Need him to, Yes, Whitlock might be the only one
- 21:46Speaker 3: that's down. In my opinion, Whitlock might be down, and
- 21:52Speaker 3: everybody everybody tries to say, oh, well, what kind of
- 21:54Speaker 3: adjustments can the Yankees make? I don't know that it
- 21:57Speaker 3: was necessarily you know, okay, Well Red Freed didn't talk
- 22:01Speaker 3: himself into it. Carlos Rodin talked himself in Plum into
- 22:05Speaker 3: going back out there.
- 22:06Speaker 2: But then you've got to reevaluate.
- 22:08Speaker 3: Carlos Rodin has to be honest, like, of course he's
- 22:11Speaker 3: gonna be like, yeah, I got it. How do you
- 22:13Speaker 3: know that dude's gonna come out and plump the first
- 22:16Speaker 3: dude on two to oh and then throw four straight
- 22:18Speaker 3: balls to Duran, or maybe he plumped Duran, he walked
- 22:22Speaker 3: the first guy. I don't know what exactly happened there,
- 22:24Speaker 3: but you don't know that he's gonna do that. So
- 22:26Speaker 3: it's a two way street. It's not just a boony
- 22:28Speaker 3: street or an Alex Krus street. It's a how do
- 22:31Speaker 3: you truly feel what is happening? And that might be
- 22:36Speaker 3: how you win and lose the game tonight.
- 22:40Speaker 1: What about position? Player wise? There's more to decide always
- 22:44Speaker 1: with the Yankees, or at least it seems that way.
- 22:48Speaker 2: You're running jazz back out there.
- 22:49Speaker 1: That was the one thing he said.
- 22:52Speaker 2: Running jazz. Hopefully he played what he said, he played
- 22:54Speaker 2: the show last night or at nine innings or whatever he.
- 22:57Speaker 1: Played last that was the night before to get someone
- 23:00Speaker 1: of rage quit. You know, he just wanted to take
- 23:02Speaker 1: this frustration out. That's a good way to do it.
- 23:04Speaker 1: Just beat someone's ass in the video.
- 23:05Speaker 2: Imagine the poor kid. He could have just said, he
- 23:07Speaker 2: went out and played. You know, I run ruled the guy.
- 23:10Speaker 2: Twelve year old kid out there was like, well, I
- 23:11Speaker 2: got run rolled last night was it that got me?
- 23:15Speaker 2: Maybe that's why he had his back turned to the media.
- 23:17Speaker 2: He was actually playing a game of that's true. MLB
- 23:19Speaker 2: nine innings tell him he makes more money than him.
- 23:24Speaker 2: What was the other I'm not going to say it,
- 23:26Speaker 2: but the other thing he's sent out there all the time.
- 23:28Speaker 1: Oh gosh, he's a trip. He's a trip. Where are
- 23:33Speaker 1: we at on the rest? I mean Ben Rice.
- 23:38Speaker 2: And Rice hit the homer? Ben Rice homer?
- 23:41Speaker 1: Doesn't he have to get all his at bats?
- 23:43Speaker 2: He would think, But you're gonna take Golchiman out against
- 23:45Speaker 2: the lefty knowing that they're going to run to right
- 23:47Speaker 2: He's eventually at some point.
- 23:48Speaker 1: Well, that's my question.
- 23:50Speaker 2: Then you start Ben Rice.
- 23:51Speaker 1: Do you just go right away Ben Rice and just
- 23:53Speaker 1: let him get four at backs?
- 23:54Speaker 2: You do? I think you do? If i'm if I'm
- 23:57Speaker 2: if I'm Ara Boon.
- 23:58Speaker 1: Yes, okay, these are hot power hitter right now.
- 24:03Speaker 3: And you save Goldie for when they bring Chapman in.
- 24:06Speaker 3: I don't think you put Ben Rice in there against
- 24:08Speaker 3: Chappie unless he's got a history. I don't know what
- 24:11Speaker 3: his history is against him. But if you start Goldie
- 24:15Speaker 3: and then you go right to Ben Rice, you might
- 24:17Speaker 3: be matching up in a bad situation late in the
- 24:20Speaker 3: game where you can then the Red Sox advantage ultimately happens.
- 24:25Speaker 3: So yeah, Ben Rice in there one percent.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Which team needs this more? The Yankees, they're more loaded
- 24:37Speaker 1: up this year.
- 24:39Speaker 2: Because of exactly what you just said.
- 24:40Speaker 1: Yes, Yankees made the World Series. Last year, Red Sox had.
- 24:44Speaker 2: One in the Aaron Boone, Aaron Aaron era, the Aaron
- 24:48Speaker 2: era Aaron Boone and Aaron Judges. You haven't won a
- 24:51Speaker 2: World Series and nobody cares. The Red Sox are looking
- 24:54Speaker 2: at us like, hey, we didn't really do a lot
- 24:56Speaker 2: and work.
- 24:57Speaker 1: Here we are tradeed Devers made the playoffs? No Roman Anthony.
- 25:01Speaker 2: Yes, the Red Sox fans will come up with excuses, okay,
- 25:05Speaker 2: meaning like, yes, well you just said we traded Devers,
- 25:07Speaker 2: no Anthony, no Casas know this, know that I forgot about,
- 25:12Speaker 2: No Gialito right, no this, no that? Well the Yankees
- 25:16Speaker 2: are I mean other than Garrett Cole. Hey, they went
- 25:19Speaker 2: and got everything they wanted and when the trades at
- 25:22Speaker 2: the deadline, they got Devin Williams, they signed Max Reed, right,
- 25:26Speaker 2: they went out and got gold, They went out and
- 25:28Speaker 2: traded for McMahon, right, all these things that they needed
- 25:31Speaker 2: to do, they thought to help them. So it's always
- 25:34Speaker 2: the Yankees if they don't make the World if they
- 25:36Speaker 2: don't win the World Series. Like the World Series is great,
- 25:38Speaker 2: but now what happens is with the Yankees fans, they think, oh,
- 25:40Speaker 2: we made the World Tiers, so next year we're gonna
- 25:42Speaker 2: win it because now we have experience to lose in
- 25:45Speaker 2: the Division Series. Doesn't sit well with Yankee fans.
- 25:49Speaker 1: No, Okay, Connery early with his you know classic line, Yeah,
- 25:55Speaker 1: I'm gonna go out there and be ampt blah blah blah.
- 25:57Speaker 1: Lumerloni who just dialed in on the team out there?
- 26:00Speaker 1: How long he goes. But I'll say this, I have
- 26:01Speaker 1: zero concerns with this kid on the mound. He's legit attacks,
- 26:05Speaker 1: gets swing and miss, and won't be afraid.
- 26:08Speaker 2: That's what everybody said. What did Mike Tyson saying? So
- 26:10Speaker 2: you get punched in them out? Everyone has a plan
- 26:12Speaker 2: to get punched in them out.
- 26:13Speaker 1: And then you go, he's only made four starts, guys,
- 26:15Speaker 1: take it easy, now, listen.
- 26:17Speaker 2: I hope this kid goes out. I hope this is
- 26:18Speaker 2: a great game. Me too, But I hope they score
- 26:20Speaker 2: it runs. But I hope this is a same.
- 26:24Speaker 1: This has been a great series. Two games so far
- 26:26Speaker 1: felt like five.
- 26:28Speaker 2: No, it's been. It's been awesome. There's been so much
- 26:30Speaker 2: strategicy and so many things that could go right or wrong,
- 26:33Speaker 2: and there's so much to talk about. It's always is
- 26:34Speaker 2: the Red Sox and Yankees.
- 26:35Speaker 1: Though, you know, we've never seen something during this short run.
- 26:40Speaker 1: We've never seen a team lose game one win the
- 26:43Speaker 1: next two in this small wild card three game series.
- 26:48Speaker 2: We've also seen two game threes and we got three today.
- 26:50Speaker 1: It was only a matter of time until that all
- 26:53Speaker 1: got broken up. Yeah, this is this is what the
- 26:56Speaker 1: league is selling crats. These serial are very intriguing in
- 27:01Speaker 1: a package right for them to sell, and I think
- 27:04Speaker 1: these are going to go to NBC next But it's
- 27:08Speaker 1: cool to get the one. But if they're all, you know,
- 27:11Speaker 1: two to oh much less sexy, game three then turns
- 27:15Speaker 1: into what they had, which was a winner take all
- 27:17Speaker 1: one gamer before this.
- 27:19Speaker 3: Which is what everyone wants to lean a little bit
- 27:22Speaker 3: closer to the screen for everybody's gonna be watching. If
- 27:26Speaker 3: you weren't watching last night, or if you only watch
- 27:28Speaker 3: part of the game. This is this is legit October, Baseball.
- 27:33Speaker 1: Already attendance numbers for Day two of the Wildcard Series
- 27:37Speaker 1: Detroit and Cleveland twenty six, six sixty nine, with many
- 27:42Speaker 1: complaints from fans that they're the one o'clock game each day.
- 27:45Speaker 1: It is what it is. And I know that many
- 27:47Speaker 1: people work hard in America and can't take off work,
- 27:50Speaker 1: and that's understandable. Padres and Cubs at forty one thousand,
- 27:54Speaker 1: wait running back for me, and then we've got Red
- 27:57Speaker 1: Sox and Yankees forty seven, nine ninety three. You'll always
- 28:00Speaker 1: get this complaint to Dodgers at fifty thousand and four
- 28:03Speaker 1: to sixty five. That ballpark holds more people. So we're
- 28:07Speaker 1: not saying this is like some competition. I think. Really,
- 28:10Speaker 1: you point out Philly.
- 28:12Speaker 2: Said thirty one thousand in a scrimmage game last night.
- 28:15Speaker 2: How much does also throw that in there? How come
- 28:17Speaker 2: the mirrors? Maybe ask Logan Gilbert? How come the Marritors
- 28:20Speaker 2: didn't have fun the Phillies.
- 28:23Speaker 3: The Phillies thing was I was invited and invited alumni
- 28:26Speaker 3: and everything too, to like make it a whole experience.
- 28:30Speaker 3: Citizens Bank holds more than that that was sold out.
- 28:32Speaker 3: That was all the tickets that they were allowed to
- 28:34Speaker 3: sell something based on I think like non actual game
- 28:40Speaker 3: capacity and stuff like that. But it was ridiculous. It
- 28:43Speaker 3: was it was a ridiculous show of to me the
- 28:47Speaker 3: Phillies organization to do that. But it's also the fact
- 28:51Speaker 3: that Phillies fans are coming out hot.
- 28:55Speaker 1: Yeah, and all they went to charity, by the way,
- 28:58Speaker 1: it always to Phillies charities. That's the move. That's awesome.
- 29:01Speaker 1: Forty three thousands. How much the ballpark holds in Philadelphia
- 29:05Speaker 1: around that the bank and then in Cleveland Progressive Field
- 29:09Speaker 1: they hold about thirty five thousand.
- 29:11Speaker 2: Yeah, there were some empty seats there first two games
- 29:13Speaker 2: there has been empty seats.
- 29:14Speaker 1: Yeah, we see this though with the day at one o'clock.
- 29:17Speaker 1: Remember Tampa.
- 29:18Speaker 2: Yeah, well they had to. I remember, listen, I played
- 29:20Speaker 2: in Oakland. I played a game five in Oakland.
- 29:23Speaker 3: There was nobody there, really nobody there, like how much?
- 29:29Speaker 2: Like how much? I don't even twenty thousand. Maybe this
- 29:34Speaker 2: is when they had the this is the moneyball year
- 29:36Speaker 2: in two thousand and two, and we did that stupid
- 29:38Speaker 2: shit two thousand and two. This is when they had
- 29:41Speaker 2: Hudson Mulder, Zito Chaves Tahata was the MVP. Ramon Hernandez,
- 29:46Speaker 2: the whole the whole kit and kaboodle that it's a
- 29:49Speaker 2: year they made the movie off of it. Should showed
- 29:51Speaker 2: the stadium.
- 29:52Speaker 1: He held the dagger, the sword up and put that dagger.
- 29:55Speaker 2: Deep in that hour he put that vampire.
- 29:58Speaker 3: He did, he did the Baker Mayfield and planning the
- 30:00Speaker 3: plan in the twin Flag in Oakland?
- 30:02Speaker 2: Did I ever? Did I ever trustin? If you know
- 30:06Speaker 2: what I mean, check that game out, Check that game out.
- 30:09Speaker 2: Put that dag heart Wow.
- 30:11Speaker 3: Look, seriously, fans need to go and look at the
- 30:14Speaker 3: hit that AJ had and anyway, just watch it.
- 30:19Speaker 2: Gives me good.
- 30:19Speaker 1: Mom got a little tweet from the legendary Sarah Langs.
- 30:25Speaker 1: Teams playing in their home ballparks are sixty four and
- 30:28Speaker 1: sixty six all time and winner take all postseason games
- 30:32Speaker 1: aka oldfielder.
- 30:34Speaker 2: The manager doesn't mean anything.
- 30:36Speaker 1: Not much. I wish it did, but it doesn't mean
- 30:40Speaker 1: a ton right.
- 30:41Speaker 2: Doesn't mean anything. What about the first team to score?
- 30:46Speaker 2: First team to score matters much. You always want to
- 30:49Speaker 2: be the first team to score, especially the road. That's
- 30:50Speaker 2: why I said I always like being on the road
- 30:52Speaker 2: sometimes in these playoff games, because if you score first,
- 30:55Speaker 2: the pressure goes through the roof on the other teams.
- 30:59Speaker 3: Sarah has Langs had it tweet about the team that
- 31:02Speaker 3: scores first, and.
- 31:03Speaker 2: I don't I don't remember what it is. That's that's
- 31:06Speaker 2: brutal by me.
- 31:07Speaker 3: But and I honestly think being on the road sometimes
- 31:11Speaker 3: in the playoffs there's less distraction. Some people might say, well,
- 31:16Speaker 3: your family has to get there. You don't know where
- 31:18Speaker 3: the next city is. The teams that take care of
- 31:21Speaker 3: the families and everything wipe that completely off the table.
- 31:26Speaker 3: You're on the road and you score. It is so
- 31:29Speaker 3: cool to see the entire stadium just quiet as a
- 31:33Speaker 3: church mouse, except for your one section of family and
- 31:37Speaker 3: then your one section of people you don't really like
- 31:39Speaker 3: that much. It's in the upper deck that got much cheap.
- 31:41Speaker 3: They bought much cheaper tickets for and your bench.
- 31:45Speaker 2: That's it. That's the only cheering you hear.
- 31:48Speaker 1: I found it. Sary Lang said, teams that score first
- 31:51Speaker 1: are eighty four and forty nine all time in winner
- 31:54Speaker 1: and take all postseason games.
- 31:55Speaker 2: Score first.
- 31:56Speaker 1: Big to catch everyone up. I know we are spending
- 32:00Speaker 1: ninety eight percent of our time on the postseason, which
- 32:03Speaker 1: we should do. But the amount of news that has
- 32:05Speaker 1: popped up with managers and some front office members would
- 32:09Speaker 1: be leading off show after show after show in the
- 32:13Speaker 1: off season, and it just gets pushed aside right now
- 32:15Speaker 1: because of what's happening. They need to fill those spots though,
- 32:18Speaker 1: So I get it. But Bob Knight and guests that
- 32:20Speaker 1: how validal is the security of major league managers. They're
- 32:22Speaker 1: only five managers hired by their current franchise since twenty
- 32:26Speaker 1: twenty two who are still employed, and there are eight
- 32:30Speaker 1: managerial opens. I think he's referring to somewhere. We don't
- 32:34Speaker 1: know the answer yet on some interims, right, we didn't
- 32:37Speaker 1: get the Orioles decision yet, the Rockies decision. I mean
- 32:41Speaker 1: the Rockets are going to hire a new front office. Dude,
- 32:43Speaker 1: he's gonna keep the same flow going. He's gonna bring someone.
- 32:46Speaker 1: He's gonna bring his own guy. No, probably, So there's
- 32:50Speaker 1: a lot going on. Oh the Nationals too, Yeah, if
- 32:53Speaker 1: he's going to continue to Bony just started so we'll see.
- 32:57Speaker 1: But dude, you don't have a lot of time if
- 33:00Speaker 1: you're a manager.
- 33:02Speaker 2: Twenty twenty two, who are the five Dave.
- 33:04Speaker 1: Roberts, Aaron Boone, Aaron Boone, Colorra Cora.
- 33:11Speaker 2: Who? So those are the three that I could think
- 33:13Speaker 2: of off the top of my head.
- 33:14Speaker 3: Rock about Delli, Oh, Kevin Cash, Oh yeah, Casher's never leading.
- 33:19Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, he's been.
- 33:20Speaker 2: There for one four now there's one more than who's
- 33:22Speaker 2: the who's the fifth?
- 33:25Speaker 1: I don't know. Bob should have told us in the
- 33:28Speaker 1: follow up reply tweet, I'd have to go down the line.
- 33:32Speaker 3: Not Joe Spotting right, because now Olli was Ali there
- 33:35Speaker 3: since twenty two.
- 33:37Speaker 2: That could be I don't know your shilt left.
- 33:41Speaker 1: No, I think I think it's hired. I think I
- 33:46Speaker 1: think it's Ali Holli because I was in spring training
- 33:50Speaker 1: with him when I worked for the league, So that
- 33:53Speaker 1: would track hired in October of twenty twenty one. Good
- 33:57Speaker 1: job crafts, good trivia.
- 33:59Speaker 2: Do you think we really?
- 34:01Speaker 1: No?
- 34:01Speaker 2: No, No, go ahead, show.
- 34:02Speaker 1: What I want to show the other board of the
- 34:04Speaker 1: manager openings again. While you I'm just gonna say, look
- 34:08Speaker 1: at what happened in Miami.
- 34:10Speaker 3: They started calling pitches from the dugouts. You don't think
- 34:14Speaker 3: that kind of stuff permeates up to the top and
- 34:16Speaker 3: it's like, well, why do we need a manager need
- 34:19Speaker 3: why do we need this? Why can't we just change this?
- 34:22Speaker 3: We can do it on our own. I'm gonna say
- 34:24Speaker 3: it's a direct correlation with the pitch calling. I'm saying
- 34:27Speaker 3: maybe some people who are making these decisions are getting
- 34:29Speaker 3: a little too big for their breitches and they're forgetting
- 34:33Speaker 3: or they don't know what it really takes to be
- 34:36Speaker 3: a manager on the field, and they're like, well, if
- 34:38Speaker 3: he doesn't listen to this, we will, we will fire
- 34:42Speaker 3: him and we will get somebody new because it's not
- 34:44Speaker 3: that important of a job.
- 34:47Speaker 1: Yeah, the power pendulum is totally swung and it continues
- 34:51Speaker 1: to swing mm hmm in terms of the importance meter.
- 34:54Speaker 1: I'm with you.
- 34:55Speaker 3: Rachel Bakovec. We had her on before now she I thought.
- 35:00Speaker 3: I asked her, do you or maybe AJ asked her,
- 35:03Speaker 3: do you want to be a manager in the big
- 35:04Speaker 3: leagues someday? And she was like, who has who has
- 35:08Speaker 3: all the power? And it was like, oh, yeah, you're right,
- 35:13Speaker 3: somebody who could have been a big first female big
- 35:16Speaker 3: league manager. No, She's like, I know, I know who
- 35:20Speaker 3: makes the decision.
- 35:23Speaker 1: I loved that answer from her too. That's just like, hey,
- 35:28Speaker 1: maybe that's a dream from years ago, but I don't
- 35:31Speaker 1: want to be told what to do and never be
- 35:32Speaker 1: able to make my own calls.
- 35:34Speaker 2: M h.
- 35:35Speaker 1: That's generally what happens. I mean, you know, it's become
- 35:38Speaker 1: a lot more of a psychology role it has.
- 35:40Speaker 2: It's more of a communication and daddy, who is this?
- 35:43Speaker 2: And let's make everybody feel good and everybody happy, and
- 35:46Speaker 2: we don't want to yell at anybody. And so it's
- 35:49Speaker 2: all about communication. How well of a communicator you.
- 35:52Speaker 1: Are, yeah, and how you represent the organization because you
- 35:55Speaker 1: do a lot of media, right, media, Yes, so you'll
- 35:59Speaker 1: talk represent and the organization. Well, it is important. There
- 36:03Speaker 1: are some managers that can truly shine. I mean to me,
- 36:06Speaker 1: Dave Roberts managing in Game two with the victory just
- 36:09Speaker 1: now for the Dodgers. I get it. He's being given
- 36:11Speaker 1: a very very talented ball club, but the bullpen that
- 36:14Speaker 1: he's been given is not easy to navigate. And not
- 36:17Speaker 1: many managers say one two pitch, let's change this up.
- 36:21Speaker 1: Or hey, Yamamoto, you're going deep. I know, we baby
- 36:24Speaker 1: you and take care of you extra rest and pitch
- 36:26Speaker 1: counts and whatever, but not now, buddy.
- 36:30Speaker 3: Aj Hinch took his best hitter out for a pinch,
- 36:33Speaker 3: or he's reading the situation. That is why if if
- 36:37Speaker 3: I would ever become a manager one day, and that
- 36:40Speaker 3: is not at all like a dream or a goal
- 36:42Speaker 3: of mine. It's not about the moves that you make
- 36:45Speaker 3: in the game. Dude, I could we could sit here
- 36:49Speaker 3: and watch a game and you'd be like, oh, well,
- 36:50Speaker 3: they're gonna probably go to this and probably go to
- 36:52Speaker 3: that because of this. That's to me, that's remedial managing.
- 36:56Speaker 3: Managing is about how you get the most out of
- 36:59Speaker 3: your play day in and day out, and that relationship
- 37:03Speaker 3: is built the entire season. Oh this guy screwed this
- 37:06Speaker 3: guy he made me hit, he made me play seven
- 37:08Speaker 3: inns first game of spring training.
- 37:10Speaker 2: I'm gonna hold that against him, or screw this guy
- 37:13Speaker 2: he didn't.
- 37:13Speaker 3: You know, guys are guys are looking for an excuse
- 37:16Speaker 3: of why they're hitting two eighty and not three ten.
- 37:18Speaker 3: As a manager, you build those dudes up.
- 37:35Speaker 1: Flappans krattats with a minute to go, What do you
- 37:38Speaker 1: have for us?
- 37:40Speaker 3: It's the same Lids hat. But you know what it's
- 37:43Speaker 3: happening this weekend. They just had the biggest scrimmage game
- 37:47Speaker 3: of all time the backyard Again boys, Lids broke it out. Yes,
- 37:52Speaker 3: I'm holding it upside down. I think it's just it's fresh.
- 37:56Speaker 3: It's like it's like something new. I wore it the
- 37:58Speaker 3: other day.
- 37:59Speaker 1: But it's so so A J's got his two text
- 38:02Speaker 1: Territory to two nine zero one seven get yourself twenty
- 38:05Speaker 1: percent off your next I think this is Christmas edition
- 38:09Speaker 1: or the Green with the Town.
- 38:12Speaker 2: It's like Christmas edition.
- 38:14Speaker 1: Yeah, there's that's what you get.
- 38:17Speaker 2: You see that like sometimes obviously a man that's so sick.
- 38:22Speaker 1: You had a lot of variety there.
- 38:24Speaker 2: Yeah, yes, so cool displayed.
- 38:27Speaker 1: Apparently we were wrong on what we were saying, or
- 38:29Speaker 1: maybe Bob Knight and goes tweet was off with the
- 38:33Speaker 1: manager thing. Yeah. Levello, Yeah, Lavello, Cora boone cash Doc.
- 38:40Speaker 2: It's okay. We got five sohne one two, three, four, five.
- 38:48Speaker 1: Six, Caste, Marmal Copper and Schneider took over mid twenty
- 38:53Speaker 1: twenty two. That doesn't count. That's happily or into the.
- 38:56Speaker 2: Show he said five, didn't he? Yeah?
- 39:00Speaker 1: I love sometimes you got to just throw some some
- 39:04Speaker 1: things out there, and we love what sticks. We do
- 39:06Speaker 1: love Bob. I love me some Bob. So here's the deal.
- 39:11Speaker 1: We are saying goodbye in a minute, and then we're
- 39:13Speaker 1: saying hi, again in a few hours. Cleveland and Detroit
- 39:17Speaker 1: will be watching, so will you, and then we will
- 39:20Speaker 1: talk as soon as the game ends. We're live on
- 39:22Speaker 1: the FT YouTube channel. Just flip right away and we'll
- 39:25Speaker 1: talk again, and we'll go over everything that we saw,
- 39:28Speaker 1: and we will say goodbye to one of the two
- 39:30Speaker 1: teams that you see on the screen right now, and
- 39:32Speaker 1: we will say good job either Detroit or Cleveland. Now
- 39:36Speaker 1: head to Seattle and take on the Mariners. So someone's
- 39:39Speaker 1: getting knocked out in the Al Central. Enjoy all the
- 39:42Speaker 1: game threes if you're not going to be with us,
- 39:43Speaker 1: but again, we'd love to have you after that game
- 39:46Speaker 1: for the postgame show and then of course back on
- 39:49Speaker 1: Friday with FT. I think Todd Father will be back
- 39:52Speaker 1: from that series. Stay tuned. Let's put out the odds
- 39:59Speaker 1: boost token call out for the twenty twenty six postseason.
- 40:03Speaker 1: You get yourself an MLB postseason nods boost token and
- 40:06Speaker 1: to use it, add an MLB postseason wager to your
- 40:09Speaker 1: bet slip and activate the token. If you win your
- 40:12Speaker 1: wager that was made with that boost token, that means
- 40:15Speaker 1: extra winnings. That's how it boost works. Okay, gambling problem
