- 0:02Speaker 1: NBA basketball fans, Welcome, Oops, welcome back to the NBA
- 0:08Speaker 1: Playoff Banter Podcast. He's Marshall, I'm Chris, and we're here
- 0:14Speaker 1: to talk about the NBA Finals. We'll do a little
- 0:16Speaker 1: quick recap. Of course, we did have you know, one
- 0:19Speaker 1: of the series at least go game six, even though
- 0:24Speaker 1: you know, come fourth quarter it pretty much was out
- 0:28Speaker 1: of reach. So we'll talk a little bit about that,
- 0:31Speaker 1: and just both Okac and Indie how you know, how
- 0:35Speaker 1: their paths came. Just in general, it is kind of
- 0:38Speaker 1: funny how Paul George Playoff aka Playoff p is involved
- 0:44Speaker 1: in all this as far as trades and whatnot. We'll
- 0:48Speaker 1: look at the regular season a little bit, but as
- 0:50Speaker 1: we know, you know, that really doesn't add up. Oops.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Gotta keep hitting that to too much anyway. So yeah,
- 0:59Speaker 1: then we'll preview our per usual preview and predict. Yeah,
- 1:03Speaker 1: this thing keeps coming unplugged. You know, we'll previewing, predicted,
- 1:08Speaker 1: and then you know, we'll kind of play it by ear.
- 1:12Speaker 1: When the next time we'll be back to do the show,
- 1:15Speaker 1: maybe it'll be Monday. Maybe not though, just because that'll
- 1:18Speaker 1: be only two games done. So we'll kind of we'll
- 1:23Speaker 1: play it by ear like we normally do. But if
- 1:25Speaker 1: this is your first time listening to the NBA Playoff

- 2:30Speaker 1: and sixty channels. That's direct TV stream Okay, I'm gonna
- 2:36Speaker 1: go ahead and bring in my co host Marshall. What's
- 2:40Speaker 1: going on, Marshall? How the hell are you? And we
- 2:42Speaker 1: finally got here to the finals. Luckily we had a
- 2:47Speaker 1: you know, some sort of drama at least go on
- 2:50Speaker 1: in the other series, unlike the OKC Minnesota unfortunately. But
- 2:55Speaker 1: first and foremost, how you're doing, and then we'll start
- 2:59Speaker 1: to kind of wrap up somewhat quickly anyway that the
- 3:02Speaker 1: OKC close out, which really was closed out game four,
- 3:08Speaker 1: you know, in a sense.
- 3:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm a I'm doing pretty good.
- 3:11Speaker 3: Brother.
- 3:11Speaker 4: I hope you're you're doing good backup in Minnesota. I'll
- 3:14Speaker 4: be there in a couple of weeks. That should be
- 3:15Speaker 4: fun to get together. Uh, and hey, yeah we have
- 3:19Speaker 4: the so I will say this. I was talking to
- 3:22Speaker 4: the fiance and the cars. She's like, I kind of
- 3:23Speaker 4: like that.
- 3:24Speaker 2: It's like not regular teams.
- 3:26Speaker 4: So yeah, and obviously I'm sure like the ESPN and
- 3:30Speaker 4: like the news, like the market, people always want like
- 3:33Speaker 4: Lebron or Curry or you know, the top not seams
- 3:35Speaker 4: like the Celtics. But like, just from like a true
- 3:38Speaker 4: basketball standpoint, it is kind of fun just to have someone different,
- 3:41Speaker 4: Like I don't think at the start of the year,
- 3:43Speaker 4: maybe people thought the Pacers would have made the finals,
- 3:45Speaker 4: you know, like, I mean, they're a good team, They're
- 3:47Speaker 4: not a joke. But if you'd ask everyone to pick
- 3:50Speaker 4: their finals predictions, okay see could have been a pick.
- 3:52Speaker 4: But the Pacers, like no, and okay see, might be
- 3:55Speaker 4: a team that's gonna be there for a handful of
- 3:58Speaker 4: the next upcoming years, but this their first year or
- 4:00Speaker 4: this cruise. So it is kind of cool to have
- 4:03Speaker 4: just like new blood because we had a stretch there
- 4:05Speaker 4: where it was either going to be Lebron or Curry,
- 4:08Speaker 4: and I was a guarantee. Now I enjoyed it being
- 4:11Speaker 4: a Curry fan, but you know, there is something to
- 4:13Speaker 4: be said for hey, different teams, someone new's going with
- 4:17Speaker 4: this year and maybe, I mean, we could get a
- 4:18Speaker 4: repeat next year.
- 4:19Speaker 2: You never know.
- 4:19Speaker 4: But it's just kind of fun to see just a
- 4:22Speaker 4: different blood in the finals. And it maybe won't be
- 4:24Speaker 4: the best range of the small markets, but I think
- 4:26Speaker 4: just for a sport fantom standpoint, it's kind of.
- 4:29Speaker 2: Nice to have something different.
- 4:30Speaker 1: I guess you could say, yeah, and I you know,
- 4:33Speaker 1: on paper it's not the best matchup, I guessed, but
- 4:36Speaker 1: you never really know, so you actually get on the court.
- 4:38Speaker 1: But you know, for all the the major market big
- 4:42Speaker 1: market conspiracy theories that go on in the NBA, they
- 4:46Speaker 1: sure do a shitty job and getting those big markets
- 4:48Speaker 1: in the fucking finals. You know, if you think about
- 4:51Speaker 1: it lately, it's kind of funny how that it's like, well,
- 4:55Speaker 1: these are pretty small markets here, so why would are
- 4:59Speaker 1: you sure? It's because why wouldn't they Why wouldn't the
- 5:03Speaker 1: Knicks been in the finals? Then? You know what I mean? Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 5:06Speaker 1: so yeah, it's just it's just kind of funny how
- 5:08Speaker 1: people always go with that. Of course you're gonna want something,
- 5:14Speaker 1: but but yeah, it is kind of cool, you know,
- 5:19Speaker 1: seven straight years now with the new champ. Oh and
- 5:23Speaker 1: these are first time champs. Whoever wins this one is
- 5:26Speaker 1: gonna be a first time champ, So I think, yeah,
- 5:28Speaker 1: part of it's really cool too, and on the surface.
- 5:32Speaker 2: And Michael Jordan, Kevi, Regie Miller forgetting a couple.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Yeah definitely, I mean more than Reggie, you know what
- 5:42Speaker 1: I mean?
- 5:43Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 5:45Speaker 1: There's a long line of them actually, you know, going
- 5:48Speaker 1: back to that sometimes I look back and just because
- 5:53Speaker 1: remember during COVID we would do shows on Classic College
- 5:57Speaker 1: Basketball and all that, and then you know, the Jordan
- 6:00Speaker 1: documentary came out at a time where people really needed
- 6:03Speaker 1: some form of sport, at least sports fans needed it,
- 6:07Speaker 1: and it was a big thing because remember we would
- 6:08Speaker 1: do weekly things on it, and we watched two episodes,
- 6:12Speaker 1: do a show, watch two episodes, do a show. And
- 6:15Speaker 1: I always think back to the the Houston Rockets in
- 6:19Speaker 1: that time. Man, I remember doing a breakdown segment of that,
- 6:21Speaker 1: and god, it always wanted to see that matchup, but
- 6:24Speaker 1: it just never quite happened back in the nineties.
- 6:28Speaker 3: But anyway, yeah, yeah, you know, really Game four first
- 6:32Speaker 3: of all, the only competitive fourth quarter game we got
- 6:37Speaker 3: in the whole series.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Great game, though, high level game, and that was the
- 6:43Speaker 1: game that Timwolves needed to have a chance in the series. Obviously,
- 6:49Speaker 1: even up you kick their ass and then you and
- 6:52Speaker 1: then you beat them in a tight game go back
- 6:54Speaker 1: home too too. You never know exactly what's gonna happen.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Even if that Game five played out where it was
- 7:02Speaker 1: twenty seven to six or whatever right away, you'd still
- 7:06Speaker 1: have to go Game six, so you never really know
- 7:08Speaker 1: what happened at that point. But it really came down
- 7:13Speaker 1: to them being the better team, the deeper team, the
- 7:18Speaker 1: just all around better finisher. But yeah, it really came
- 7:23Speaker 1: down to that game four man, which was one of
- 7:26Speaker 1: the better games in general, phenomenal game, but my Timberwolves
- 7:33Speaker 1: came up short. So there wasn't really much drama to
- 7:36Speaker 1: speak of on the OKC Minnesota side of things.
- 7:41Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, I was that was just a really
- 7:46Speaker 4: you said, just a really good competitive basketball game. I
- 7:48Speaker 4: think that that did show that when Minnesota plays in
- 7:51Speaker 4: our a game, they're on par with them. But also
- 7:55Speaker 4: I just think it is kind of like a tip
- 7:56Speaker 4: of the cap to OKC. Obviously not I'm not a
- 7:59Speaker 4: die here Wolves fans you, so you obviously a little
- 8:01Speaker 4: different perspective, and I feel for you, But like that,
- 8:05Speaker 4: like that's a game where like normally the road team
- 8:09Speaker 4: doesn't win. Like I'm not saying that was Minnesota's best
- 8:11Speaker 4: effort forever, but that was like a really good home game,
- 8:14Speaker 4: and normally, if you get those types of efforts in
- 8:16Speaker 4: an NBA home playoff game, the home team wins. So
- 8:19Speaker 4: I hate saying it because I want you and all
- 8:22Speaker 4: my bikes to see the Wolves win, But it's like, damn,
- 8:24Speaker 4: like this OKC team mate and I think maybe part
- 8:28Speaker 4: of it simply is the fact that they're from a
- 8:31Speaker 4: Oklahoma city, because if you look at the year they've
- 8:34Speaker 4: had just from a win loss record perspective, like it's
- 8:38Speaker 4: really not far off of the Golden State Durant year
- 8:40Speaker 4: just from wins and losses. So if this was a
- 8:43Speaker 4: team that was located in Atlanta or New York or LA,
- 8:47Speaker 4: I think there'd be more media just attention and love.
- 8:51Speaker 4: Not I'm not saying the media makes thinks of them
- 8:53Speaker 4: in a joke, but like, I do think we kind
- 8:55Speaker 4: of slipped them in a little bit this year, christ
- 8:57Speaker 4: just because it is a smaller market team and SGA
- 9:01Speaker 4: is a one oz guy without like a now Courier
- 9:04Speaker 4: broad So in roundabout way, I just think that I've
- 9:07Speaker 4: probably something a little bit. Myself was like, yeah, their
- 9:09Speaker 4: record was that freaking good. They beat however, me Pet
- 9:12Speaker 4: by almost like ten points the game of the whole year.
- 9:14Speaker 4: I just think that that game kind of showed him like, damn,
- 9:16Speaker 4: like that's a game that the Wolves price. If they
- 9:19Speaker 4: play lu one else lead, they win that game four.
- 9:21Speaker 4: It's two to two. So I don't know, just to
- 9:23Speaker 4: wrap it up that that was an incredible before of us. Unfortunately,
- 9:26Speaker 4: I wish I had gotten that way, but that was
- 9:28Speaker 4: just something or the teams don't do.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean their point differential, their record this year.
- 9:37Speaker 1: Technically they were back to back first seeds now you
- 9:40Speaker 1: know in the West. Yeah, and maybe that was that
- 9:43Speaker 1: they were a first scene and got beat the year before,
- 9:45Speaker 1: and they were a young team, and you did have
- 9:48Speaker 1: questions in the playoffs in a sense, you know, because
- 9:52Speaker 1: you needed to see the other guys around him step up.
- 9:57Speaker 1: And then coming out that game seven, you thought, I
- 10:01Speaker 1: don't know, maybe you know, yeah, your seven games, you know,
- 10:06Speaker 1: and so whereas it seemed like maybe, okay, see, you
- 10:09Speaker 1: could say played down a little bit in that series, maybe,
- 10:12Speaker 1: but I think Denver definitely played up compared to the
- 10:15Speaker 1: last twenty thirty games of the season. You know. Yes, yeah,
- 10:19Speaker 1: styles make fights, matchups and all that. So that had
- 10:23Speaker 1: to do with it obviously too, because for sure, you know,
- 10:27Speaker 1: the Timberwves match up much better with that team. So
- 10:31Speaker 1: I just think it's uh. I do have to say
- 10:33Speaker 1: as a Timbrelf fan, though, I do feel further away
- 10:38Speaker 1: from them, okay see than I did Dallas last year
- 10:43Speaker 1: because if you look at the first three games, they
- 10:45Speaker 1: were all winnable. They were all right there on the table,
- 10:48Speaker 1: and it was the side of the Timberwolves that wasn't executing,
- 10:53Speaker 1: whereas this it's only that one. Yeah, we kicked their ass,
- 10:57Speaker 1: but you can make an argument that that actually like
- 11:00Speaker 1: pissed them off and embarrassed them, and they came back
- 11:03Speaker 1: and won a game four. You know, maybe if you
- 11:05Speaker 1: only beat them by sixteen or something, they don't have
- 11:07Speaker 1: that same fuck you dude, what the fuck was that
- 11:09Speaker 1: forty two points?
- 11:11Speaker 5: Then they tried to put out that that stat about
- 11:16Speaker 5: no team is one of finals if you lost by
- 11:20Speaker 5: forty two in the playoffs.
- 11:22Speaker 1: But you and I know both that there's been a
- 11:25Speaker 1: thirty seven and thirty nine, So you're like, dude, that's
- 11:28Speaker 1: a couple of points away. That's a yeah, that looks
- 11:31Speaker 1: good on Twitter. Yeah, Like shit, dude, that probably means
- 11:35Speaker 1: you're not gonna win it. You know, it's like, well,
- 11:37Speaker 1: not necessarily yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But overall, they really
- 11:42Speaker 1: put it all together, and it's something they've been building
- 11:45Speaker 1: the last few years. Obviously, they were patient. They struck
- 11:49Speaker 1: it when it was hot. We'll see if they keep
- 11:51Speaker 1: it together. Of late, they weren't paying a bunch of
- 11:55Speaker 1: tax because they had you know, young players, but they
- 12:00Speaker 1: did pay the tax a trunk of years ago, like
- 12:03Speaker 1: a lot of it. So, yeah, be able to keep
- 12:05Speaker 1: this team, and I don't see why that owner, you know,
- 12:09Speaker 1: wouldn't do it now. On the indie New York side
- 12:14Speaker 1: going into it, you know, we're thinking about the nineties
- 12:16Speaker 1: and the six out of like eight or nine years
- 12:20Speaker 1: that they met and it was tied three to three,
- 12:22Speaker 1: and that in the nineties, I think one of them
- 12:24Speaker 1: snuck into the two thousands. But you know, we had
- 12:28Speaker 1: such a drama way to start game, won the series
- 12:31Speaker 1: in general, and and then you kind of felt like, ah,
- 12:34Speaker 1: it's too zip now, you know, that's pretty this is
- 12:37Speaker 1: this isn't gonna go far. And credits to the Knicks man.
- 12:40Speaker 1: They they had their own crazy comeback and you know,
- 12:45Speaker 1: ended up winning Game three and then and then they
- 12:47Speaker 1: really played a great Game five. In fact, they kept
- 12:51Speaker 1: him under one hundred, kept any and one hundred. And
- 12:54Speaker 1: we were talking about how first time since like February
- 12:57Speaker 1: fourth or February second, that the Pacers had put up
- 13:00Speaker 1: one hundred points and that's you know, we saw the
- 13:02Speaker 1: Knicks much like we were just talking about Denver get
- 13:05Speaker 1: better on defense, you know, in the playoffs. But still,
- 13:09Speaker 1: you know it's not They're not a juggernaut obviously defensively.
- 13:13Speaker 1: So that that was It was still a really interesting
- 13:18Speaker 1: series with you know, multiple games that were right there,
- 13:23Speaker 1: probably three, three or four, probably four out of six
- 13:27Speaker 1: were could have been either either side win the game.
- 13:30Speaker 1: So it was a fun series. It was entertaining, what
- 13:36Speaker 1: you think, overall, Like I said, at least, you know,
- 13:39Speaker 1: we talked about it last time, where this is the
- 13:42Speaker 1: first time we actually got past three to h H
- 13:45Speaker 1: in a conference final on either side in a couple
- 13:48Speaker 1: of years. So it was finally nice to get the
- 13:50Speaker 1: game six because most of them have been Game five
- 13:53Speaker 1: or Game four.
- 13:54Speaker 4: You know, I do think so to flip the script on,
- 13:57Speaker 4: I think that people kind of slightly over underlooked, okay,
- 14:01Speaker 4: c I do think there was kind of just an
- 14:03Speaker 4: ESPN hoping that, hey, dude, let's put the Knicks in
- 14:06Speaker 4: the finals. You know, like big Market, it's been a
- 14:09Speaker 4: min since they've been good. Like they they beat they
- 14:12Speaker 4: you know, they beat the celt like, you know, let's go.
- 14:14Speaker 2: Nixt you know.
- 14:15Speaker 4: But yeah, but okay, like but Indiana. They just didn't
- 14:21Speaker 4: give a shit, Like there's something be said for that team.
- 14:23Speaker 4: It'd be kind of fun if they did like a
- 14:24Speaker 4: one year documentary, just because not many teams can consistently
- 14:28Speaker 4: win games. Were down by so much. It's kind of
- 14:30Speaker 4: like they're like the cardiac kids. But that's certainly more
- 14:34Speaker 4: of like a college football college basketball.
- 14:37Speaker 2: They lateral.
- 14:37Speaker 4: They don't have this NBA team who just like never quits,
- 14:41Speaker 4: never quit. It's like that's not really an NBA thing.
- 14:44Speaker 4: Now you can say, why the hell are the team's
- 14:46Speaker 4: ball leads, which I don't know, but they're just a
- 14:50Speaker 4: fun team. And I didn't look at who all the
- 14:53Speaker 4: ESPN people picked for that series, but I'm sure it
- 14:55Speaker 4: was obviously Vegas favorite Knicks.
- 14:58Speaker 2: I'm sure a lot of people picked the Knicks. I'm
- 14:59Speaker 2: sure something did pay as well.
- 15:00Speaker 4: But I think it's just a kind of a series
- 15:02Speaker 4: where like Indiana, people are sleeping on maybe just a
- 15:05Speaker 4: little bit because it's in New York City and they
- 15:07Speaker 4: got home court. But then you have the crazy Game one,
- 15:11Speaker 4: but then they don't take them off the gas for
- 15:12Speaker 4: Game two. That that's the big one, like Game one,
- 15:16Speaker 4: helibertson due they got some ballers, but for New York not.
- 15:20Speaker 1: An emotional thing. That happened too, you know, easily just
- 15:23Speaker 1: to be like, hey, dude, our job is done. Let's
- 15:25Speaker 1: get to game three one and one.
- 15:27Speaker 4: You know, yes, And we saw that happen a couple
- 15:29Speaker 4: of times here, not as much this year, but well
- 15:31Speaker 4: actually not a lot, but in a regular Chris, if
- 15:36Speaker 4: you would Game one on the road, dude, take for
- 15:38Speaker 4: off the gas for game two, go home split. We're
- 15:40Speaker 4: happy that we actually had a lot of two o's
- 15:42Speaker 4: this year, which is weird but normally, yeah, hey, you
- 15:45Speaker 4: had an emotional win. Halibertson had the premature choke celebration.
- 15:48Speaker 4: They still won the game. And then but then the
- 15:51Speaker 4: win game two, it's like, dude, like these boys ain't playing,
- 15:54Speaker 4: so then you have that d in your head of
- 15:56Speaker 4: like this next thing win front of five No, so
- 16:01Speaker 4: uh Krant's and Haliburton credits Kretsur it is, you know,
- 16:05Speaker 4: said a couple of times and we've said it too.
- 16:08Speaker 2: They are a selfless team.
- 16:10Speaker 4: Like when you watch them move the ball, it's kind
- 16:12Speaker 4: of beautiful because yes, Haliburton is a stud, but he's not.
- 16:18Speaker 2: You can watch it.
- 16:19Speaker 4: It doesn't have to touch his hands every time, Like
- 16:22Speaker 4: they're kind of fun just to watch because the ball
- 16:24Speaker 4: moves around, they play fast, they play at temple and
- 16:27Speaker 4: they just never stopped. And that's part of the reason
- 16:29Speaker 4: why they do win. Like they they probably never feel
- 16:31Speaker 4: their out of the games because hey, was gonna have
- 16:34Speaker 4: a night. Turs get hit a couple of shots like
- 16:36Speaker 4: the the the dude from Vandy Naysmith who helped him
- 16:40Speaker 4: win Game one when he just went duicular like he
- 16:43Speaker 4: did his version of Stephen Curry, which probably cry.
- 16:46Speaker 1: Weird last second shot without five threes and like how long?
- 16:50Speaker 1: Not long, you know, But I do.
- 16:52Speaker 4: Feel if you you go through like the last two
- 16:54Speaker 4: teams he had left, like you know, Denver goes, as
- 16:56Speaker 4: Jokic goes, Timberleves go kind of is like Aunt goes
- 16:59Speaker 4: like sgakad of controls. Okay, see you can say that
- 17:04Speaker 4: about Pacers, but not really like they kind of they're
- 17:06Speaker 4: just a team now who's maybe are one more round
- 17:10Speaker 4: to go? But I think it's just a little bit
- 17:12Speaker 4: different because so many times in the NBA it's like, well,
- 17:15Speaker 4: you got your one star and everywhere else kind of
- 17:17Speaker 4: feeds off. I know, hell Bird's the guy, but they
- 17:20Speaker 4: just they passed the ball I think better than I've
- 17:23Speaker 4: used to seeing in basketball. I'm sure statistically you might
- 17:26Speaker 4: be able to rip part what I'm saying, but they
- 17:28Speaker 4: share the ball really well, more so than other teams
- 17:30Speaker 4: I've used to watching.
- 17:32Speaker 1: And he's closer to more of a true point guard
- 17:36Speaker 1: than he is a scoring slash. I'm gonna get some assists.
- 17:41Speaker 2: Good call, Yes, yeah, yeah, he will.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Get those assist And like you said, he gets off though,
- 17:47Speaker 1: especially with any any sense of a double, he gets
- 17:51Speaker 1: off really quick. But something that he's gotten better at though,
- 17:55Speaker 1: is hey, it's my time now, Gotta take everybody off
- 17:58Speaker 1: the dribble because I can you know what I mean.
- 18:04Speaker 1: All yeah, we know that, but yeah, I think just
- 18:08Speaker 1: finding that that timeframe of of when to go and
- 18:13Speaker 1: when not to Yeah, you know, that's that's that's tough.
- 18:17Speaker 1: And like I said, most of it's combo guards, most
- 18:19Speaker 1: of its playmakers, uh scores slash playmakers, it's not true
- 18:24Speaker 1: point guard. So and we went over it, you know,
- 18:28Speaker 1: first second round a couple of times, saying, you know,
- 18:31Speaker 1: from like eight or nine points, how they had all
- 18:36Speaker 1: those dudes that were in the teams, you know, and
- 18:39Speaker 1: Siakam actually did did lead them in scoring so far
- 18:43Speaker 1: in the playoffs, so Halliburton doesn't have to be the
- 18:46Speaker 1: number one score all the time. Yeah. And speaking of
- 18:50Speaker 1: when you said documentary, right, sure, do you remember last
- 18:55Speaker 1: year the Netflix documentary where they chose like four or
- 18:58Speaker 1: five players and they went through the whole thing and
- 19:02Speaker 1: then they played in the fall. This year it was
- 19:05Speaker 1: with Aunt It was Lebraun Tatum and I can't remember. Okay,
- 19:13Speaker 1: Well anyway, that was Netflix. Yeah, that was last year.
- 19:17Speaker 1: So they followed all those players and then in the
- 19:20Speaker 1: fall they showed what had happened throughout that year. Right, Well,
- 19:26Speaker 1: I don't know if it's four players like last time
- 19:29Speaker 1: or what, but what I do know is Sga and
- 19:31Speaker 1: hal Burton are in this one.
- 19:34Speaker 6: Oh okay, so it's exactly pretty close anyway, not exactly
- 19:40Speaker 6: pretty close to So we're going to see this journey
- 19:44Speaker 6: get to the finals this year, you know, and people involved,
- 19:48Speaker 6: we're going to play each other.
- 19:49Speaker 1: You know, because Tatum got to the finals obviously and
- 19:52Speaker 1: won it, but to have both in there, so you're
- 19:55Speaker 1: gonna kind of get your wish anyway. Yeah. Yeah, and
- 20:00Speaker 1: then just we've ever kind of caught up every once
- 20:03Speaker 1: in a while on ratings, and you know how this
- 20:06Speaker 1: was a through two rounds, it was a crazy ratings
- 20:10Speaker 1: did really good. The Western Conference Finals. You kind of
- 20:14Speaker 1: knew was gonna be an issue. I did notice though,
- 20:19Speaker 1: in the first round they gave OKAC, even though you
- 20:24Speaker 1: knew they were gonna beat Memphis ass they kept giving
- 20:28Speaker 1: them the prime primer spot rather than putting them on
- 20:32Speaker 1: NBA TV and having the better, more more competitive game.
- 20:37Speaker 1: So the NBA did actually do their due diligence when
- 20:42Speaker 1: it comes to uh showing off the OKC, even though
- 20:46Speaker 1: it pissed some people off because it's like, dude, that
- 20:49Speaker 1: game's a blowout, why would you put that on ESPN
- 20:52Speaker 1: or TNT put that on NBA TV and put the
- 20:55Speaker 1: Clippers in uh Denver on Yeah. Yeah, And I can't
- 20:59Speaker 1: remember the other games, but they did get him the
- 21:02Speaker 1: lead in that, so that was kind of cool. But
- 21:06Speaker 1: so just kind of catching up with the ratings. Game
- 21:08Speaker 1: free was the largest Game three of the Eastern Finals,
- 21:13Speaker 1: was the largest rated on TNT since twenty fifteen, which
- 21:17Speaker 1: was the Hawks Cavaliers. And then Game four was the
- 21:22Speaker 1: largest Eastern Conference Game four since the Celtics Calves, which
- 21:28Speaker 1: is just so happens to be, you know, when the
- 21:33Speaker 1: last conference final Lebron was in, because in twenty nineteen
- 21:37Speaker 1: he dipped out of the conference, so it was basically
- 21:41Speaker 1: the finals itself up until that point had been a
- 21:46Speaker 1: seven year high. So and you know, obviously the some
- 21:52Speaker 1: of the rivalry, some of the New York market of course,
- 21:55Speaker 1: but also the way that Game one started must have
- 21:59Speaker 1: really helped the ratings too, just because they're like, oh shit, dude,
- 22:03Speaker 1: this is this is crazy. So we'll see how Game
- 22:07Speaker 1: five did. I don't know how Game five did. We're
- 22:11Speaker 1: gonna find out how Game six did tomorrow. And usually
- 22:15Speaker 1: the person that I follow that's been in the industry
- 22:18Speaker 1: for a long time for ratings, he they'll post tomorrow.
- 22:22Speaker 1: So at least Indy comes in hot off of a
- 22:28Speaker 1: really fun series and a highly rated one, so we'll
- 22:32Speaker 1: see exactly where that goes. It's kind of funny Game four.
- 22:39Speaker 1: I believe Game four, the highest rated one is Game
- 22:45Speaker 1: four with the the Lakers and Timbrels still of the series,
- 22:50Speaker 1: which you know, you got Lebron and got Ant and
- 22:53Speaker 1: so yeah, all right, so you know, New York. I
- 23:00Speaker 1: gotta say, like I keep hearing people say they gotta
- 23:03Speaker 1: blow it up. They gotta fire to the coach, they
- 23:05Speaker 1: gotta people still, like I think the last two series,
- 23:10Speaker 1: there's times in certain games where you could be very
- 23:13Speaker 1: critical of Cat, but honestly, dude, he averaged almost twenty
- 23:17Speaker 1: five points in this series and had twelve, and they
- 23:22Speaker 1: would have won the game without him. They would have
- 23:24Speaker 1: had a five game series without him, So like in that,
- 23:28Speaker 1: you know, having twenty points in the fourth.
- 23:29Speaker 2: So I like.
- 23:33Speaker 1: Kat's whistle is horrendous, just because as as a younger player,
- 23:38Speaker 1: he did complain too much. But he gets so many
- 23:40Speaker 1: offensive falls and dumbfouls that I think that goes into
- 23:45Speaker 1: that as well as whistle. But I don't know the
- 23:52Speaker 1: whole blow it up. It goes back to like like
- 23:55Speaker 1: the video game era, where you're like, I don't like
- 23:58Speaker 1: how the season's going, Marshall, gonna turn the fucking game
- 24:01Speaker 1: off and restart everything. It's just so you're gonna fire
- 24:04Speaker 1: TIBs and then you're gonna blow your team up. Now,
- 24:07Speaker 1: if you can get Yannis, hey fucking trade the ship,
- 24:10Speaker 1: that's fine. But other than that, just to trade like
- 24:14Speaker 1: you're obviously still like we did last year, we did
- 24:17Speaker 1: trade Cat on a high. But the odds, Marshall, if
- 24:23Speaker 1: you don't get Yannis, the odds that you're gonna get
- 24:26Speaker 1: a good ass trade for Cat Again. Yeah, it was
- 24:31Speaker 1: a pretty fair trade now that we're a year or
- 24:34Speaker 1: not even a year from it. But you know, for
- 24:36Speaker 1: both sides if you look at it turned out. But like,
- 24:40Speaker 1: I don't know, what are your thoughts on that? Man?
- 24:42Speaker 1: They hadn't made the goddamn conference final since two thousand.
- 24:46Speaker 2: All right, well, you know.
- 24:51Speaker 1: Under a great contract.
- 24:53Speaker 4: Oh, I think it's kind of an NBA training thing
- 24:55Speaker 4: because I've been hearing the same thing from the Minneapolis
- 24:57Speaker 4: sport Rado station. We've always listened to Kat and there's
- 25:00Speaker 4: been guys that show that just mentioned about how well
- 25:03Speaker 4: the Wolves gott to look for a big move. You know,
- 25:05Speaker 4: it's like I do get if you're a Wolf from
- 25:08Speaker 4: office person, Hey we lost to Okay, see like okay,
- 25:11Speaker 4: like what can we do to make our team better?
- 25:13Speaker 4: But does like I'm torer man because.
- 25:19Speaker 1: I think the one matchup in the whole conference.
- 25:23Speaker 4: You know, it can it can backfire on you, Like
- 25:26Speaker 4: what if the Knicks or the Wolves do make a
- 25:28Speaker 4: big splash or trade, but then next year, what if
- 25:31Speaker 4: you what if you get knocked out first round?
- 25:33Speaker 2: Like was it worth? Like if you are the Wolves,
- 25:36Speaker 2: for example, just gotta build that team more better than
- 25:38Speaker 2: the Nickson.
- 25:39Speaker 4: Like I've been hearing the same things, like you made
- 25:41Speaker 4: the Western Conference finals two years ago. Yes, I'm frustrated
- 25:44Speaker 4: out to make some the finals, but your team is
- 25:46Speaker 4: close now you could argue that, Okay, we're still far behind. Okay,
- 25:50Speaker 4: see what do we do now? Does what do we
- 25:53Speaker 4: do mean? We have to make a huge deal? I
- 25:55Speaker 4: don't know if that's necessarily the case, Like what huge
- 25:58Speaker 4: deal are you?
- 25:59Speaker 2: Jones?
- 26:00Speaker 1: You know, I could be a great ball handler right there,
- 26:03Speaker 1: Like it may not have to be a big move.
- 26:05Speaker 1: You never know, you know, yeah, yeah, Like there it's there.
- 26:09Speaker 1: I get it. But yeah, like I have.
- 26:12Speaker 4: To the rumor of like if the Wolves want to
- 26:14Speaker 4: go for Durant, Like I think that'd be an awful decision,
- 26:17Speaker 4: Like you you would kind of have to see well
- 26:21Speaker 4: yeah yeah, but again because if.
- 26:23Speaker 1: Someone's gonna leave and you sign and trade them to
- 26:25Speaker 1: get him, that's different.
- 26:28Speaker 4: But yeah, I do think it's kind of that you're
- 26:30Speaker 4: you're being the video game GM personal like we got
- 26:32Speaker 4: to blow it up. Well, yeah, if you're the Necks.
- 26:35Speaker 4: You got Brunst, you got cat, you got you got heart,
- 26:37Speaker 4: like you.
- 26:39Speaker 2: Gotta you gotta get squad.
- 26:40Speaker 4: So like, what is your big splash gonna beat? I'll
- 26:42Speaker 4: get Hell. If I was the MAVs, I would trade
- 26:45Speaker 4: the number one pick. I would say, Cooper Flag. You
- 26:47Speaker 4: see you're gonna Milwaukee.
- 26:48Speaker 2: Boy. I'm freaking you know, because you prove it.
- 26:52Speaker 1: But yeah, you know what I mean.
- 26:56Speaker 2: So I just I do think.
- 26:58Speaker 4: That we we become very quick to judge what But hell,
- 27:03Speaker 4: if you look at like just quickly, like if you
- 27:05Speaker 4: look at how uh soccer and hockey like, dude, they
- 27:09Speaker 4: love to fire their coaches so fast, but then they're stupid.
- 27:12Speaker 4: They bring you guys who've are ey been fired before.
- 27:14Speaker 4: It's like they never had any circle like hery, we're
- 27:16Speaker 4: not doing too good. Hell the this basketball. But there
- 27:19Speaker 4: was a thing last two years ago in hockey, the
- 27:22Speaker 4: three coaches who were up for the Coach of the
- 27:25Speaker 4: Year award were out of their jobs the next within
- 27:27Speaker 4: the next two years. So you're telling me the three
- 27:30Speaker 4: best ahl coaches of his team that.
- 27:32Speaker 2: Could have wont coach the year.
- 27:33Speaker 4: We're no longer with those teams and within two years
- 27:35Speaker 4: after coachmore. Sorry, shit, yeah, you know, so, so I
- 27:42Speaker 4: think and I think hockey and soccer are the worst,
- 27:44Speaker 4: but basketball's baby coming in the NBA.
- 27:46Speaker 1: NBA is right there with NHL. Yeah, twenty games in
- 27:50Speaker 1: the day. You get fired after twenty games, which is ridiculous,
- 27:54Speaker 1: you know.
- 27:54Speaker 4: So you know, yeah, so I now, if you make
- 27:57Speaker 4: a big change, could it work, yes, but you have
- 28:01Speaker 4: to make a big splash, not necessarily, No, and don't
- 28:05Speaker 4: force it.
- 28:06Speaker 1: That's that's it. Don't force it. Because the way people
- 28:10Speaker 1: talk about Cat, it's like he fucking averaged twenty five
- 28:15Speaker 1: and twelve in the like, come on, dude, like what
- 28:18Speaker 1: are we doing? Like I've always been critical in some
- 28:22Speaker 1: spurts with him, no doubt, but at some point you
- 28:26Speaker 1: gotta get over your own bias, like come on, what
- 28:30Speaker 1: are we doing? Just like you know, someone who cheers
- 28:33Speaker 1: for a team has to get over there. Oh no,
- 28:35Speaker 1: my guy's better than Jordan or some shit. You know.
- 28:37Speaker 7: But yeah, yeah, yeah, so I don't know.
- 28:40Speaker 1: I mean, like I said, Yiannis is a great example.
- 28:45Speaker 1: And basically, besides Brooklyn, nobody has money, so it has
- 28:49Speaker 1: to be a sign in trade. So when you look
- 28:51Speaker 1: at this free agency from moving on in the in
- 28:55Speaker 1: the coming future, like it's gonna be a bunch of
- 28:58Speaker 1: sign in trades. That's how you're good that free agency
- 29:00Speaker 1: right now, signing trade. So yeah, if someone's gonna give
- 29:04Speaker 1: Randall a bigger contract, then we we feel like we're
- 29:07Speaker 1: gonna give them. Well, then, all, if you brought in Durant,
- 29:12Speaker 1: you know, if you had if you had Rudy Nas
- 29:15Speaker 1: and Durant, Well, now you're saying, so now I can
- 29:18Speaker 1: now I'm looking at it differently. So I just to
- 29:22Speaker 1: blow it up if anything, you know, here's here's my example. Right,
- 29:27Speaker 1: so the the Dallas team doesn't exist anymore. That beat
- 29:31Speaker 1: us last year, it's gone, yeah, right.
- 29:35Speaker 3: And.
- 29:37Speaker 1: Wonder if Denver trades trades Porter for two just solid players,
- 29:43Speaker 1: just role players, and they get better depth, and maybe
- 29:46Speaker 1: they can beat them, and then we can beat them.
- 29:50Speaker 1: You know, Wonder if the Knicks go against Indy and
- 29:54Speaker 1: Halliburton fucks up his ankle in game one. You know,
- 29:57Speaker 1: you never fucking know, you know, So I just especially
- 30:02Speaker 1: when you made such as like timberwolfs wise in next
- 30:04Speaker 1: wise you made such a big trade just and you
- 30:07Speaker 1: didn't have any practice time at all, basically because you
- 30:11Speaker 1: made it right at the opening of camp, but it
- 30:12Speaker 1: took a week to just finalize the damn deal. Yeah,
- 30:17Speaker 1: neither of them could practice until you finalized it. So yeah,
- 30:20Speaker 1: it's just it's just kind of weird. But anyway, let's
- 30:24Speaker 1: get to it. It starts Thursday. You know, both these
- 30:30Speaker 1: teams are definitely fun to watch. I think it is
- 30:34Speaker 1: gonna be an entertaining series during the regular season. Okay,
- 30:39Speaker 1: see won this, you know the regular season series two
- 30:42Speaker 1: zip Chet was not in either one of those games.
- 30:46Speaker 1: I was kind of surprised, obviously. The first when you
- 30:48Speaker 1: talk okay, see, the first thing, yeah, I to talk
- 30:51Speaker 1: about is turnovers, you know, because they're gonna turn you over.
- 30:56Speaker 1: And I was kind of surprised that I went back
- 30:58Speaker 1: and looked in at they lost twice. One was close,
- 31:01Speaker 1: one was a blowout, but neither game featured a lot
- 31:05Speaker 1: of turnovers. The highest turnover game in the last series
- 31:11Speaker 1: against the Knicks for Indy was twenty game five, but
- 31:15Speaker 1: other than that, they didn't really go crazy with it.
- 31:20Speaker 1: If they would have had another eighteen and a sixteen
- 31:23Speaker 1: or something, I'd be a little more worried because the
- 31:26Speaker 1: Knicks aren't the okay, se on defense, you know, but
- 31:32Speaker 1: another thing that kind of came out of it. Haliburton
- 31:36Speaker 1: just in two games, you know, nothing crazy. He didn't
- 31:39Speaker 1: really play all that well. He had like his lowest
- 31:41Speaker 1: usage I think of the season. Lou Dorton company really
- 31:46Speaker 1: made him get off the ball pretty quick, exactly what
- 31:48Speaker 1: they did to Aunt. But like I said, Chet didn't
- 31:53Speaker 1: play and you know they're the turnovers are key and
- 31:59Speaker 1: then pace you know, we talked about this before we
- 32:02Speaker 1: hit record and you know pace wise even on made baskets.
- 32:09Speaker 1: How far like right, when the person with the ball,
- 32:13Speaker 1: which it doesn't have to be Haliburton, right, many guys
- 32:15Speaker 1: can bring the ball up for them. Will they meet
- 32:19Speaker 1: him at half court? Will they make you know, forced
- 32:21Speaker 1: Haliburton to get rid of the ball like they did
- 32:25Speaker 1: with Aunt. But turnovers, But then again, if you like
- 32:30Speaker 1: to play fast and you have this pace, like okay,
- 32:33Speaker 1: so he's like cool, man, let's have pace, then let's
- 32:36Speaker 1: do this. This is what this is what we like
- 32:38Speaker 1: to do too. You know, they cause turnovers. Indiana does too,
- 32:41Speaker 1: and both of them cash in because it seems like
- 32:45Speaker 1: multiple guys on okay, see can cash in off of
- 32:49Speaker 1: a steal and then you know, all you gotta do
- 32:53Speaker 1: is throw the ball deep to Siakam who's like a
- 32:55Speaker 1: tight end, and he gets the easy buckets off of it.
- 32:59Speaker 1: In that series the whole, So, you know, obviously a
- 33:04Speaker 1: clear favorite in this one, one of the largest favorites.
- 33:07Speaker 1: I think it's it goes back to Detroit beating a
- 33:11Speaker 1: Lakers squad that had like the old dudes, you know,
- 33:15Speaker 1: Peyton and Malone and all that. I think that would
- 33:18Speaker 1: be the big I think that was a plus four
- 33:20Speaker 1: fifty or plus five hundred, which was a little crazy
- 33:23Speaker 1: at the time. But you know, people just it's a Lakers,
- 33:27Speaker 1: They're gonna win again, you know, that type of thing.
- 33:30Speaker 1: But what are your thoughts, you know, kind of heading
- 33:32Speaker 1: into this matchup, because it seems like a fairly uphill climb,
- 33:38Speaker 1: you know, for Indy to be able to even push
- 33:43Speaker 1: this thing to six or seven.
- 33:47Speaker 2: I agree.
- 33:48Speaker 4: I think you obviously make a fair and valid point
- 33:51Speaker 4: about how the season series went and the turnovers weren't
- 33:53Speaker 4: that bad. But now you have time to prep. Like
- 33:57Speaker 4: obviously he played the Pacers today, give a ship, but
- 34:01Speaker 4: like that, do that that could have been a back
- 34:02Speaker 4: that could have been a back to back doubleheader. Maybe
- 34:05Speaker 4: the team went out partying the night at the club
- 34:06Speaker 4: the night before, maybe getting late, like who who in
- 34:09Speaker 4: the f No is what those matchups were on the
- 34:11Speaker 4: calendar for when they played. Now, Okay, so he's like, dude,
- 34:14Speaker 4: we want to get a ring. So and I think
- 34:19Speaker 4: I'm thinking, like, because what would they do versus ant
- 34:22Speaker 4: at the Edwards and he is again a terrific I
- 34:25Speaker 4: think he's gotta a little more mature, but he's a
- 34:27Speaker 4: terrific basketball player, and they really made him struggle a lot.
- 34:34Speaker 4: They did, and they made Randall work really hard after
- 34:38Speaker 4: those first couple of games.
- 34:39Speaker 2: So like if but now now they have time.
- 34:42Speaker 4: So Hallibert did like, he's obviously not do a little
- 34:44Speaker 4: different player than a but he's not nearly as explosive
- 34:47Speaker 4: and might have the quickest first step in the league.
- 34:50Speaker 2: So if you can't contain Anthony Edwards or make him.
- 34:53Speaker 4: Pass the ball because you're really good at double teaming,
- 34:56Speaker 4: you know what is the Pacers back? Because the Pacers
- 34:58Speaker 4: are not quite as uh as deep of a team,
- 35:01Speaker 4: and I don't think they shoot the three balls quite
- 35:02Speaker 4: as well as Minnesota. So and I realized I'm just
- 35:05Speaker 4: making a like a to B two c here, but
- 35:08Speaker 4: with with how they play defense, like what are you
- 35:12Speaker 4: gonna do to like find a way to contend? Because
- 35:17Speaker 4: but the first thing I wanted, the the one bet
- 35:20Speaker 4: I'll probably make for the series Chris is gonna be
- 35:22Speaker 4: is that I bet the series goes two to one. Okay, see,
- 35:25Speaker 4: because they've shown that every round is okay, defend their
- 35:29Speaker 4: home court game. Yeah, in game three, they take them
- 35:34Speaker 4: front the gas like they did with the Wolves, like
- 35:36Speaker 4: they did with.
- 35:36Speaker 2: Memphis, and again they would lost John as a Buss's wrists.
- 35:39Speaker 4: So I think, okay, see, he's gonna come out hot
- 35:43Speaker 4: and Pacers will obviously Okay, see, it takes the front
- 35:45Speaker 4: the gas, pat the home court. So I think that's
- 35:48Speaker 4: my initial lead. But yeah, I think with the time
- 35:50Speaker 4: to fill the prep, they're that defense is nasty. Man
- 35:54Speaker 4: Like Jokic is a special dude to take a beat
- 35:58Speaker 4: up team that he had as far as they did,
- 36:00Speaker 4: but like that dude's different. But they would have a Jokics, right,
- 36:03Speaker 4: They have Hallibers, they have heard, they have Siakam, they
- 36:05Speaker 4: have you know. But it's like I I really think, okay, okay, see,
- 36:10Speaker 4: his defense is gonna clamp down and make their life miserable.
- 36:15Speaker 1: Yeah, it does. It does feel that way, you saw,
- 36:18Speaker 1: like I said, shades of it at times. There's an
- 36:22Speaker 1: interesting status on Twitter from Evans Sidery. The Pacers are
- 36:27Speaker 1: twelve and oh in the playoffs this season when they
- 36:30Speaker 1: scored one hundred and ten at least one hundred and ten.
- 36:33Speaker 1: When they've scored less than one hundred and ten, they're
- 36:35Speaker 1: oh of four. So you know, scoring one hundred and
- 36:40Speaker 1: ten's obviously not an easy task against, okay see. Heading
- 36:46Speaker 1: into it, they're both averaging right around one seventeen okay
- 36:50Speaker 1: see rebounding a little bit more. Assists per game is
- 36:54Speaker 1: twenty eight to twenty five in favorite Indy both uh.
- 36:58Speaker 1: And then you look at one o six three three
- 37:00Speaker 1: points allowed, one oh six point three okay see in
- 37:04Speaker 1: one thirteen point three. So, like I said, Pascal is
- 37:09Speaker 1: their leading score. Halliburton like at nine point eight assist.
- 37:17Speaker 1: So and you know through the conference finals, thirty one
- 37:20Speaker 1: point four was SGA. But also so if you look
- 37:26Speaker 1: at the conference finals, it goes thirty one point four SGA.
- 37:30Speaker 1: You have brunts of at thirty set thirty point seven,
- 37:34Speaker 1: Town's at twenty four point eight Siakam at twenty four
- 37:38Speaker 1: point eight, so basically twenty five. That's why I didn't
- 37:41Speaker 1: think it was a big deal that he won the
- 37:43Speaker 1: you know, first of all, playing two ways, Edwards was
- 37:46Speaker 1: twenty three. To your point, they did contain him, But
- 37:50Speaker 1: then here's the kicker, and Haliburton was twenty one, but
- 37:53Speaker 1: the kicker Williams was twenty two point two and home
- 37:56Speaker 1: Groom was eighteen, and those are the guys that you're
- 38:00Speaker 1: looking at. Random was seventeen when we went into the
- 38:04Speaker 1: thing like, you know, can those guys get over the
- 38:07Speaker 1: hump and can they help SGA? And they definitely did.
- 38:12Speaker 1: They definitely did. Now transition points and pace tells you
- 38:17Speaker 1: it is going to be an up and down type
- 38:19Speaker 1: of type of series, and things like like Chet versus Siakam,
- 38:31Speaker 1: or would they put them on Turner? You know, more
- 38:33Speaker 1: likely if they're both out there and Chet has when
- 38:37Speaker 1: they have two bigs. Okay, see, I would say that
- 38:39Speaker 1: he'd be on Siakam and probably keep them in the
- 38:42Speaker 1: paint more because that's the thing about Cover and Turner.
- 38:45Speaker 1: Then you're not in the paint as much, and you
- 38:48Speaker 1: clearly want them in the paint, especially you know when
- 38:51Speaker 1: he's the only big which there's plenty of times doing that.
- 38:55Speaker 1: I would give Indie. I don't think this is controversial.
- 38:58Speaker 1: I'd give in Indianapol or Indiana the the coaching advantage.
- 39:04Speaker 1: You know, yes, I think that's fair. I do want
- 39:08Speaker 1: to see that with Halliburton and Turner, the pick and
- 39:11Speaker 1: roll and the pick and pop. I think that'll be key.
- 39:14Speaker 1: And then speaking of Halliburton, will okayse see you know
- 39:20Speaker 1: hunt Halliburton, like Boston did last year in the Conference finals,
- 39:24Speaker 1: they've done a pretty good job of hiding him. Indiana
- 39:28Speaker 1: as a whole is a better at defense. This year
- 39:31Speaker 1: they made a sizeable jump compared to last year because
- 39:34Speaker 1: last year it was bad, you know, like it just
- 39:38Speaker 1: looked like shit. So they haven't made a jump. And
- 39:43Speaker 1: then beyond themhard you know, s g a like I
- 39:48Speaker 1: think you gotta do it kind of like Game three
- 39:50Speaker 1: where you have someone on him, your best defender, but
- 39:53Speaker 1: you also bring that second guy over there and hope
- 39:56Speaker 1: that he can scramble back to his guy. But you
- 39:59Speaker 1: have to you can't just give him the mid range.
- 40:01Speaker 1: If you give him the mid range, that's gonna be
- 40:03Speaker 1: a problem. And then we're gonna find out how good
- 40:05Speaker 1: Indy is at zone defense because the timber Rowls weren't
- 40:10Speaker 1: good at a game winning game two because they're just
- 40:13Speaker 1: not that great at it. Yeah, but that all goes
- 40:16Speaker 1: back to how Denver did it, and Denver kind of
- 40:19Speaker 1: had to do that with their team, you know, because
- 40:23Speaker 1: they're not a great defensive team, but it looked out
- 40:26Speaker 1: for that. So a couple of questions there, and I'm
- 40:30Speaker 1: kind of wondering how that plays out. But what are
- 40:34Speaker 1: some of the keys you think, just in general beyond
- 40:38Speaker 1: what we're you know, kind of the surface stuff.
- 40:42Speaker 2: I So one thing we talked about for the show.
- 40:46Speaker 4: I'm really surprised and this dude don't get like a
- 40:49Speaker 4: lot of hype because he really doesn't eat so much,
- 40:50Speaker 4: but that hearts and stide, like he kind of reminds
- 40:55Speaker 4: me of like of Andrew Bogan because like people said,
- 40:57Speaker 4: Bogo's like, well the dirtiest savvage players they but never
- 41:00Speaker 4: got a foul trouble.
- 41:01Speaker 2: I'm not saying that hearts and sides up to that level,
- 41:04Speaker 2: but like, okay, see doesn't give up like easy layups
- 41:09Speaker 2: like that dude's bill truck. He doesn't have to do shit.
- 41:12Speaker 2: He'll he'll get his couple of dunks.
- 41:13Speaker 4: But whenever you see, like whenever one dribbles, if someone
- 41:16Speaker 4: dribbles the ball and the paint, like when the Wolves did,
- 41:19Speaker 4: like dude, they're on you, and that dude does get
- 41:22Speaker 4: shoved around like Rudy had a couple of like dunks
- 41:24Speaker 4: as he's tall. But like a lot of times like
- 41:27Speaker 4: Rudy or Randall, like drove it to the lane. Dude,
- 41:30Speaker 4: arms are up, they're bumping you, but they never get
- 41:32Speaker 4: called for the fouls. As you said, that's kind of
- 41:34Speaker 4: the style they played. A ref can't call the foul
- 41:36Speaker 4: all the time. But I'm really just impressed with how
- 41:39Speaker 4: they cover the paint. I know that Miles Turner is
- 41:43Speaker 4: more of like a Spot of Shooter guy, but like Turner,
- 41:46Speaker 4: you know, if he goes away legit bigs.
- 41:48Speaker 1: You know that they don't have to play both of
- 41:50Speaker 1: them at one time either. That's where they're really good,
- 41:53Speaker 1: you know.
- 41:54Speaker 4: Yeah, so I'm just curious to see, you know, like
- 41:57Speaker 4: Pacers gonna have to really live and die by the
- 41:59Speaker 4: three because they would have a guy like a Rando
- 42:02Speaker 4: or a Cat or a like dude like okay, see
- 42:04Speaker 4: owns the paint.
- 42:05Speaker 2: And when they owe the paint. That's hard to do.
- 42:07Speaker 2: So if you're if your Knights a little bit off
- 42:09Speaker 2: of the three point line shit like you know, because.
- 42:13Speaker 1: See that corner three they almost give it up.
- 42:16Speaker 2: Yeah yeah no.
- 42:18Speaker 4: And so if guys like you know, Yokich and Anthony
- 42:21Speaker 4: Edwards can't drive and lane and kill you, what makes
- 42:24Speaker 4: you think someone in the pacer gonna be able to?
- 42:25Speaker 1: You know?
- 42:26Speaker 4: So, uh, they just play scrabby defense. Caruso scrappy. He
- 42:29Speaker 4: probably gets with more than he should, but just team
- 42:32Speaker 4: defensive wise, it's like damn, you know, they make you
- 42:35Speaker 4: earn it. Uh, at least if they want to run. Uh,
- 42:39Speaker 4: they they surprise their their role players are like these,
- 42:42Speaker 4: like I think collectively like the Minnesota probably had a
- 42:46Speaker 4: more talented bunch for like one to eight. But like
- 42:49Speaker 4: those role players that they need to or hit a
- 42:51Speaker 4: lot of big shots, like they're not really household names
- 42:54Speaker 4: like Nasred is a really popular guy. People love the dude,
- 42:56Speaker 4: like so Devin Chenzel, Like they're a little more well known,
- 42:59Speaker 4: but something is like lesser known. Dude's okayc Like when
- 43:03Speaker 4: Gillott was SGA passing the ball, they hit their threes
- 43:06Speaker 4: and obviously they're gonna get a lot open looks Chris,
- 43:08Speaker 4: because like you said, you're gonna have to double team
- 43:10Speaker 4: SG and little Bitter he's gonna owe you, you know.
- 43:12Speaker 1: Yea.
- 43:12Speaker 2: So their role players are working their way up and
- 43:15Speaker 2: also but they're also a damn young team. So that's
- 43:19Speaker 2: that's unfortunate part. So I do Now, obviously Pacers aren't
- 43:24Speaker 2: scared they're ever gonna quit. You know, I could see
- 43:26Speaker 2: maybe one of those comebacks coming this in this series.
- 43:28Speaker 4: But I really think that, uh, with the way they
- 43:31Speaker 4: play defense, pacers have their hands full and they get
- 43:36Speaker 4: okay the city. Besides their Game three where they like
- 43:38Speaker 4: to kind of maybe take the front off the gas
- 43:40Speaker 4: a little bit, uh man I, I guess.
- 43:44Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 43:45Speaker 4: Normally we like to do the the give and take
- 43:47Speaker 4: of like, uh, check a boxer who has the advantages
- 43:50Speaker 4: here and there. Besides the Pacers have the coaching advantage.
- 43:55Speaker 4: I can't give the advantage to the Pacers on offense
- 43:58Speaker 4: or defense or like the bench Like maybe I'm missing
- 44:00Speaker 4: something like if you had to check a box like offensively, I.
- 44:06Speaker 1: Think it's it's closer than it is defensively, Yeah, you.
- 44:10Speaker 2: Know, defensively it's a big check to the to the left.
- 44:14Speaker 1: Yes, it's a gap for the bitch, like.
- 44:19Speaker 4: You know, the I think you'd have to give it
- 44:22Speaker 4: to Okay, see just because they've they got a better
- 44:24Speaker 4: win last record there, I think their bitch maybe more
- 44:27Speaker 4: of a unity team, you know, Pacers, we we really
- 44:30Speaker 4: haven't been talking about their uh and Turner and Halbert.
- 44:35Speaker 4: I know they obviously have a bitch, but I think
- 44:37Speaker 4: you probably to check the box with the Okay see
- 44:39Speaker 4: beatch too.
- 44:40Speaker 1: Yeah that McConnell is that McConnell.
- 44:44Speaker 2: But yeah, yeah he needs to.
- 44:45Speaker 1: Play better because he wasn't that effective this last series.
- 44:48Speaker 2: True. Oh yeah, yeah, he's got to step up for sure.
- 44:52Speaker 1: So check this out. This is from Hardwood or HP Basketball.
- 44:57Speaker 1: Indiana has the second best five man lineup in the
- 45:01Speaker 1: playoffs by net rating. It has to be at least
- 45:04Speaker 1: fifty minutes together. They have the second best. Right, OKC
- 45:09Speaker 1: has the second, third, fourth, seventh, eighth, and tenth best
- 45:13Speaker 1: three man lineup in the playoffs minimum fifty minutes played.
- 45:18Speaker 2: Jesus.
- 45:19Speaker 1: Now, what's crazy is even though they didn't play a
- 45:23Speaker 1: lot together, Minnesota had the number one, but it wasn't
- 45:27Speaker 1: their starting lineup. As they're small. It was Randall, Reid, Dante,
- 45:31Speaker 1: at and McDaniels. But you're also going against not starters,
- 45:37Speaker 1: so you know it's it's not the same sure. Speaking
- 45:41Speaker 1: of bench that Mathron the last couple of games he
- 45:45Speaker 1: had in two games stretched in thirty seven minutes, he
- 45:49Speaker 1: had forty three points. He because he was playing like shit. Yeah,
- 45:55Speaker 1: but he started coming on. So that's something to look at.
- 45:58Speaker 1: If you look at Turner, only five centers in the
- 46:00Speaker 1: NBA history have made seventy five playoffs or at least
- 46:03Speaker 1: seventy five playoff threes, and two of them were in
- 46:06Speaker 1: the last series. Cat in the Turner. So Turner's gonna
- 46:09Speaker 1: have to definitely knock that down.
- 46:11Speaker 4: Yeah, he's got to show up big time, yup, and
- 46:14Speaker 4: then you know, nemhard.
- 46:17Speaker 1: The last three games, uh, the Pacers were were outscored
- 46:21Speaker 1: by fifteen points per one, almost sixteen points per one
- 46:25Speaker 1: under possession when he's on the court. So he's got
- 46:28Speaker 1: to turn that shit around.
- 46:30Speaker 4: Well, and you know, you know who SGA drops fouls,
- 46:33Speaker 4: but then he wanted Statistically that pisses off a lot
- 46:35Speaker 4: of people. But if he gets if he gets it
- 46:38Speaker 4: hard and foul trouble.
- 46:39Speaker 1: Are two fowls go a bench? Yeah?
- 46:42Speaker 2: What what?
- 46:43Speaker 4: What is the Pacers backup playing for what? Nim hard
- 46:46Speaker 4: hat gets a foul trouble? They big, You're really big.
- 46:49Speaker 4: You're probably trend for water.
- 46:51Speaker 1: Yeah. And over the last two years, the Pacers are
- 46:55Speaker 1: thirteen to three in the playoffs when Tyrese Haliburton attempt
- 47:00Speaker 1: at least fifteen shots when he's when he shoots less
- 47:04Speaker 1: than ten, they're one in six. So it tells you,
- 47:08Speaker 1: you know, he's gotta he's gotta make sure you know
- 47:12Speaker 1: the timing of everything. Like we said, when to take
- 47:14Speaker 1: over when your team needs you, when you know, when
- 47:17Speaker 1: you don't have to force it. That'll be something to
- 47:19Speaker 1: keep an eye on. So far, Chet who was kind
- 47:23Speaker 1: of a let's see how he does because he's young
- 47:25Speaker 1: and didn't play all that great in the playoffs last year,
- 47:29Speaker 1: he averaged sixteen point four points, eight eight point six
- 47:35Speaker 1: rebounds in two blocks. And it's under thirty minutes per
- 47:39Speaker 1: game too, So that's something to say. I did put
- 47:43Speaker 1: for MVP. I got a plus ninety ten on Halliburton.
- 47:48Speaker 1: Didn't have to put much money on that. And let's
- 47:53Speaker 1: see here. So so Shay has over the last three
- 47:58Speaker 1: season thirty points playoff games. Shay has seventeen, Brunson has
- 48:03Speaker 1: twenty one, Tatum has nineteen, Jokic has eighteen. Shay who
- 48:07Speaker 1: didn't go as far two years or three years ago,
- 48:10Speaker 1: he got knocked out of the first round. So that's
- 48:13Speaker 1: just really these last two years, which is pretty impressive.
- 48:17Speaker 1: But you know, he is kind of the main score Now,
- 48:19Speaker 1: I will say this Brunson in Towns. Their top two
- 48:23Speaker 1: scorers did go off in the series. Now, they didn't win,
- 48:27Speaker 1: but there was a stat that popped up the first
- 48:31Speaker 1: teammates since Kobe Shack twenty twenty two to each average
- 48:36Speaker 1: twenty points in the first five games of the Eastern
- 48:40Speaker 1: of the conference final. Something to look at. Yeah, and
- 48:45Speaker 1: then I think I already said the biggest odds since
- 48:49Speaker 1: two thousand and four Pistons win the transition. Oh, we're
- 48:54Speaker 1: talking about the corner threes, right, because that's what they
- 48:57Speaker 1: Og and Michale Bridges combined for twelve to fifty from
- 49:02Speaker 1: the left corner in the playoffs. And so they didn't
- 49:06Speaker 1: do good in that series either. Obviously, you know, not
- 49:10Speaker 1: that they're like OG's not the guy you want taking them,
- 49:13Speaker 1: but sometimes you don't have a choice. They just give
- 49:16Speaker 1: it to you and you gotta take it. Sure, And
- 49:19Speaker 1: that was a problem all the way till somewhere in
- 49:24Speaker 1: game three for the Wolves too. You know, yeah, they
- 49:29Speaker 1: just they just fucking can't knock it down. So let's
- 49:35Speaker 1: see here, so I see, okay, so here's some here's
- 49:42Speaker 1: some bets.
- 49:43Speaker 2: Right.
- 49:43Speaker 1: Oh, here's a cool little thing. Final starters by draft position. Okay, okay,
- 49:49Speaker 1: See has a second pick eleven twelve, forty third and undrafted.
- 49:55Speaker 1: Indiana has eleventh, twelve, fourteen, twenty seventh to thirty first.
- 50:00Speaker 1: Oh okay, so you know, not a lot of stars,
- 50:03Speaker 1: but it's like, hey, they turned out to be they
- 50:05Speaker 1: drafted well obviously, so well, i'll get to the odds
- 50:12Speaker 1: after we do the prediction. I mean it obviously, I
- 50:16Speaker 1: think both of us are gonna pick. Ohs k see,
- 50:18Speaker 1: it's just a matter of, like, you know, the matter
- 50:21Speaker 1: by what. Well, here's some of my bookie, So, okay,
- 50:26Speaker 1: see four to one is plus two forty eight. Okay,
- 50:31Speaker 1: see four to two is plus four fifty a sweep
- 50:38Speaker 1: of okay, see, just straight up sweep, which I don't
- 50:40Speaker 1: think either of us think that'll happen plus two sixty Oklahoma,
- 50:44Speaker 1: which is like huh Okay, Oklahoma City. Uh for three
- 50:50Speaker 1: plus five hundred. So if you had to make a
- 50:54Speaker 1: prop bet, would you go forour to one plus twenty
- 50:59Speaker 1: four or plus two forty eight, four to two plus
- 51:02Speaker 1: four fifty or plus five hundred four to three, or
- 51:07Speaker 1: just take that sweep at plus two sixty.
- 51:10Speaker 4: I really I'm gonna go gentlemen sweep. I'll take the
- 51:13Speaker 4: plus two forty eight. I do think that Pacers would
- 51:16Speaker 4: Game three and the Okay Sea bounce back Game four.
- 51:20Speaker 4: So if I if I had to bet, I would
- 51:21Speaker 4: bet four to one first, four to two second before
- 51:24Speaker 4: I do either seven or a true sweep.
- 51:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I think a gentleman, you know, I was thinking
- 51:32Speaker 1: about betting on four to one and four to two.
- 51:36Speaker 7: Yeah, I'm with you. Yeah, no, just bet them both.
- 51:40Speaker 7: And that's probably well that I haven't done it yet.
- 51:43Speaker 7: Like I said, the only bet I have is Haliburton,
- 51:46Speaker 7: just because I think, you know, they'd be a miracle
- 51:48Speaker 7: and plus it's nine fucking tens. I mean, yeah, true,
- 51:53Speaker 7: you know, so I am gonna go gentlemen's sweep.
- 51:56Speaker 1: I wouldn't be shocked at games you know, going to
- 52:00Speaker 1: game six, in wonder if it does. Though, you know,
- 52:04Speaker 1: let's say we get the next time we do a show,
- 52:09Speaker 1: all of a sudden game six, you start to go, dude,
- 52:11Speaker 1: game six is an indie.
- 52:12Speaker 2: Dude, hold on, hold on, you start to get all.
- 52:15Speaker 1: Excited about it. I mean, obviously we don't know until
- 52:22Speaker 1: we get there, right, but it does kind of because
- 52:25Speaker 1: because maybe they got lucky in their only win or something,
- 52:28Speaker 1: you know, like someone had a bunch of foul problems
- 52:30Speaker 1: or something. Yeah, whatever, So yeah, I wonder that that
- 52:37Speaker 1: that is kind of interesting how that all plays out.
- 52:39Speaker 1: But I think I'm hoping for a six or seven
- 52:42Speaker 1: game series because I really think that that's the only
- 52:45Speaker 1: way this thing is going to draw attention. In fact,
- 52:48Speaker 1: I remember the the Spurs Pistons, right, A lot of
- 52:55Speaker 1: people didn't like the Pistons because oh they're too dirty
- 52:58Speaker 1: and all that, and I don't like Rashia and all
- 53:00Speaker 1: that shit, right, yeah, in their style of play, and
- 53:03Speaker 1: then a lot of people didn't A lot of people
- 53:05Speaker 1: got bored by the Spurs, right just defense, you know,
- 53:09Speaker 1: slow offense, you know, just break you down. Right. Yeah,
- 53:13Speaker 1: I like both of them, but you know, a lot
- 53:14Speaker 1: of people didn't in that series. It was like, I
- 53:18Speaker 1: think the Spurs got up Tuesday, then Detroit got won
- 53:22Speaker 1: the next two games, so it's two two. But all
- 53:25Speaker 1: four of the games were like no drama at all.
- 53:28Speaker 1: So they're like, see, dude, this is But then five, six,
- 53:31Speaker 1: and then all of a sudden, from five through seven,
- 53:34Speaker 1: everyone's like, oh shit, this is a good series and
- 53:36Speaker 1: you know all that stuff. So I wonder how that's
- 53:39Speaker 1: gonna play.
- 53:40Speaker 8: So so Thursday, Sunday, Wednesday, Friday, Monday, so Sunday game two.
- 53:53Speaker 1: I mean, I guess we could do one on Monday.
- 53:57Speaker 1: But and you're gonna be coming in on Thursday the twelve,
- 54:00Speaker 1: right or no, you're gonna be coming in earlier than that,
