- 0:40Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We would greatly appreciate that.
- 0:42Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And these are all free things to do.
- 0:45Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: F-R-E-E.
- 0:46Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: These are free.
- 0:48Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Don't cost uh don't cost anything.
- 0:52Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So we're gonna start out this uh this episode uh a little bit on the a little bit on a somber uh level.
- 1:03Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh but as we know there's there's so much news, so many news stories are out, and I picked a couple out.
- 1:20Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: First one uh has to do with Carrot Top.
- 1:26Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And he had uh, I guess the order to say um he he tried to take his own life, I guess is the way to to think about it.
- 1:48Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I think I think that's how that worked it worked its way.
- 1:57Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so he spent a lot of time because he performs in Vegas quite a bit and has been uh one of the uh the longest standing uh acts uh routines uh in Vegas.
- 2:16Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so it was a big deal for anybody for Caritop when when that that happened, he took time away from his career, which is was just a good thing.
- 2:35Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And the positive is I saw he's he's back doing his shows in Vegas, Las Vegas, Nevada.
- 2:51Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so that's a good thing that he's back, and hopefully, whatever demons he he was battling, hopefully, hopefully he's able to come come to peace with with those uh there's so much life left to live.
- 3:14Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Oh my gosh.
- 3:16Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So that's that I I didn't handle that so eloquently, uh but in the same same kind of area there is locally, and it's so unfortunate.
- 3:38Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Oh my gosh, that a child going to school took their own life.
- 3:50Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I didn't read a whole lot into it.
- 3:55Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh it it it just sends shock waves really through the body, the the community.
- 4:10Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: What what can a child what could a child think about that would put them in that headspace that taking their own life is better than what what is happening in the life, so much life to live.
- 4:47Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And then I saw that it was the second child in a particular school system to do that.
- 5:06Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It was either since January or since the school uh I think it's I think it was uh a calendar year of January.
- 5:20Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Maybe it's a school year.
- 5:22Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It doesn't matter.
- 5:27Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Doesn't matter the time frame.
- 5:29Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: There's two children that are no longer with us for whatever I don't know what I I just don't I'm speechless because you have children so innocent, and that's what some resort to.
- 6:02Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And I know that there's adults I just met I just talked about Caratop and um Peres Hilton, not Paris Hilton, Perez Hilton.
- 6:21Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I know he's in or he was last that I know.
- 6:24Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I know he was in uh I think serious condition so we know we talk about adults, we talk about children.
- 6:39Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And I've been I've been close to the edge at different times throughout my life and a person that gets to that that point kind of that know where you can't turn back and say, okay, I it's it's gotta be just it's gotta just oh my gosh.
- 7:34Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I I mean we're talking about children, we're talking about adults, we're talking we're talking about human beings.
- 7:42Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Human beings that have so much life to live.
- 7:50Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Oh my gosh.
- 7:56Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I can't speak for their families, I can't speak for them.
- 8:06Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But we get asked a lot.
- 8:11Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Oh, mental health.
- 8:15Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Yeah, you know, everybody talks about this stigma, and people are like, yeah, there's no stigma, or like nobody's gonna watch, nobody's gonna listen.
- 8:29Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Really?
- 8:33Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We have two children in a short period of time, it's like they're all night.
- 8:40Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We have adults who try in that head space.
- 9:02Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Yeah, do the people that are you know, the neg the negative people that say, oh no, it's it's not a it's a it is a huge deal.
- 9:21Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It's not a big deal, it's a huge deal.
- 9:25Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: As a society, as a human race, we need oh my god gosh what it's still a stigma.
- 9:38Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: The stigma's still there.
- 9:39Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I don't care what anybody says, it's still there.
- 9:42Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: These events prove it.
- 10:00Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And got some help after not knowing what and not wanting to believe it, and not wanting to be a man who has demons in the closet, and demons.
- 10:29Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We all have demons.
- 10:32Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Whether we like to think so or not, we're and one of the demons is that stigma.
- 10:43Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Like, oh no, no, no, we don't talk about that at our house, we don't talk about that at our community, we don't talk about that at our church, we don't talk about that.
- 10:52Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: No, no, we don't have a we don't have to call it a problem.
- 11:00Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We don't that just we we don't need to do that.
- 11:06Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And how do I know this?
- 11:07Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Because I wanted to start a group at a local church where people who wanted to get together and talk about life, what we're going through.
- 11:27Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: The good, the bad, the ugly.
- 11:34Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I mean, and I didn't want to charge any money for it, and I got turned away by my own local church, so you can't tell me that people don't want to talk about things, and they don't want to have a stigma tied to their church, or a stigma, yeah, stigma tied to their church, to their community, their city, their township, their municipality, their state, their province.
- 12:22Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: My wish is that we we didn't have to do this, we didn't have to bring these kinds of topics up.
- 12:36Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But my wish is just that, it's just a wish.
- 12:45Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I can't control people, I can't control people that didn't respond to me, which we call that response a no.
- 13:00Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Like yes or no?
- 13:02Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: No.
- 13:04Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So if we respond, that'd be a yes.
- 13:07Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: If we don't respond, that would be no.
- 13:10Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We don't think there's value in what you want to do.
- 13:14Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Okay.
- 13:17Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So I talk about it, we talk about it, our guests talk about it on the podcast.
- 13:26Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: You know, some of us might think, oh, we're too good for that.
- 13:29Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We don't I don't need to hear some dude talk about mental health and bringing up, you know, these negative events.
- 13:44Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Some people are the problems because we're not able to do that, because we're not able to talk about it.
- 13:55Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: There's a lot of people that could get a lot, a lot of good just talking.
- 14:04Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I wasn't gonna charge them if they showed up.
- 14:08Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: If we had two people, we had 200 people.
- 14:17Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Just get together and just talk or just listen.
- 14:23Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Maybe write something down, maybe draw a picture.
- 14:33Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Maybe reach out to somebody that you know that maybe could use a word or two of encouragement.
- 14:45Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: That's one of the reasons why I ask in almost all of our episodes that if you could reach out to twenty five or fifty or a hundred or however many contacts and share our voices for voices, voices for voices podcast with them because we we have a lot of helping that we need to do.
- 15:15Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I know I benefit when I talk with my mental health team.
- 15:27Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I get a lot of benefit out of it, and you could too, and others could, or you don't even have to, you don't even have to go to a therapist or a psychiatrist, or if what I wanted well, if one I envisioned would have happened to actually have you know a small room, maybe fits 15 people in it one day a week for an hour or maybe hour and a half, start an hour, and we just talk.
- 16:20Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We just talk.
- 16:22Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: How are things going?
- 16:26Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: People can let me put it this way: there's been different points in my life where people have reached out to me at difficult turning points in my life, and the mere fact of just talking with them on the phone, right?
- 16:49Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And this wasn't even like a FaceTime or in person or just hearing words of encouragement made me feel so much better, didn't take, and it doesn't take the pain and the suffering away, but for those few minutes, I was able to just talk and then listen and validate my feelings, my thoughts.
- 17:42Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And it was four, three or four people.
- 17:57Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Two of them, or at least one of them, I don't know about two, at least one of them I never I'd never met that I that I could recollect at that time.
- 18:09Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And they took time out of their day just to talk to me for ten minutes, listen to me, share were you know, things were similar, some things were similar to what I was going through at that time, and so that made me not feel like I was alone.
- 18:39Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Nobody wants to be alone, nobody wants to feel alone, to be alone, to be cast aside.
- 18:47Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Nobody does.
- 18:56Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Some people ask, we're helping people.
- 19:01Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I know we are because it's starting with me.
- 19:06Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I'm helping myself by talking through these topics and with our guests and their thoughts and their experiences.
- 19:24Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: That's what this whole thing's for.
- 19:27Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Like, we we don't live an eternity here on earth, so there's gonna come a day where we can think we're as great as apple pie or whatever analogy you want to use.
- 19:46Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But we don't get to take any of these possessions or awards with us.
- 19:56Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: When we pass away, we pass away.
- 20:00Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: The guitars don't come, the yachts don't come, the mansions don't come, the cars don't come, private jet, like those don't go with us when we go.
- 20:18Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So why don't we try to make this world a better place?
- 20:22Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Why do we have to have such division?
- 20:25Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Why do we have to burn things down to make a point or call somebody a name?
- 20:40Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: For those two children, you know, God rest their souls, and then just pray for everybody in the world, but especially those lives that those two children touched over their short life on earth, and for Caratot, live another day, and so I'm gonna say it again.
- 21:25Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We need to get rid of these stigmas around mental health, around anything, everything.
- 21:32Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Everybody's going through something.
- 21:34Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Everybody, you've heard me said it once, you're gonna hear me say it a million, trillion, zillion times.
- 21:41Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Everybody's going through something.
- 21:45Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: On the outside, it could look like some are living their best life.
- 21:59Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We hope.
- 22:00Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Everybody does.
- 22:01Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We hope everybody has the opportunity to live their best life on earth.
- 22:08Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I just know for me, when I help somebody, doesn't cost money.
- 22:19Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And it makes me feel good about myself.
- 22:23Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: That I was able to talk to somebody or listen.
- 22:30Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: There's not a lot, but there's there's something in my life that will listen.
- 22:39Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: No judgment zone.
- 22:44Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I'm gonna leave the show with this last thought, and then on a positive, positive note.
- 22:52Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Talk about inspiration.
- 22:54Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So at the gym earlier, you want the gentleman that uh goes, same time when I usually go.
- 23:05Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We were just talking.
- 23:10Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: The gentleman is probably my dad's age, my dad's in heaven.
- 23:18Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: 76, years old.
- 23:25Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: This gentleman said, Man, you get in, you're here every day.
- 23:30Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: You know, you're such an inspiration.
- 23:33Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Said that to me.
- 23:36Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I'm not in there every day, but in his mind, he said I was an inspiration.
- 23:41Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Oh my gosh.
- 23:45Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I'm thinking like me.
- 23:47Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: No, I'm not an inspiration.
- 23:52Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: That's not me.
- 23:57Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Because I got all these naysayers, all these haters, all these toxic, negative thoughts, individuals.
- 24:12Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Because I didn't get any money, it doesn't count.
- 24:16Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Is that what it is?
- 24:18Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I feel like that's what it is.
- 24:20Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: People equate, well, you're an inspiration, but you didn't get any money for it.
- 24:26Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I just was taken aback.
- 24:32Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And then I mentioned that there was a there's a gentleman, the walking track was behind where we were at, and I said, yeah, there I said that that gentleman is an inspiration to me.
- 24:48Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: He's got his walker, and he's there walking the track, and he's also doing weight training.
- 25:04Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Doesn't matter how much weight he lifts, but that for me is an inspiration.
- 25:18Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so I shared that with this gentleman, told me that I was an inspiration.
- 25:28Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And you know, he told me, he said, I was in here last week, and there was a gentleman had both legs amputated, had a smile on his face.
- 25:59Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And he said, you know, were you in the war?
- 26:03Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Was that how you lost you know your your legs?
- 26:09Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: He said no.
- 26:11Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: He had cancer, both of his legs, got them amputated, and he was at the gym, both legs amputated, and he was working out and had that smile on his face.
- 26:34Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so don't overlook or overthink of overthink the impact that we can have on others.
- 26:55Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Whether people tell us or tell someone we know and then gets back to us or whether they don't we can all help others in one way or another, and not one of those things we talked about costs money.
- 27:23Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Gentlemen with his walkers just he's there at the gym going around the trap.
- 27:31Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I mean, and then here there's other gentleman speak about the individual with two legs amputated, and he had a smile on his face, and I was happy just to be alive.
- 27:53Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So hopefully that can be a little bit of inspiration on some level.
- 28:00Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Thank you for joining us.
- 28:02Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Thank you for watching, listening here in United States across the world.
- 28:07Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: If you can give us a thumbs up, like, follow, subscribe, share, reshare, repost, word of mouth.
- 28:13Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Again, get those phones out if they're not already out.
- 28:16Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Please share the voices for voices podcast with 2550, 100, 500 contacts.
- 28:25Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We greatly appreciate that.
- 28:26Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Till next time.
- 28:27Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Let's celebrate all the voices in the world and let's be a voice for not only ourselves, but maybe somebody in need.
- 28:36Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We'll see you next time.
- 28:37Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Goodbye for now.
