- 0:00Speaker 1: H Return to Glory Podcasts under Sarvagnicky Austin Rose, Dakota
- 0:23Speaker 1: Free Tag five weeks over. Nerves are creeping in for
- 0:28Speaker 1: Indiana the ranked Hoosiers on the road. I'm going to
- 0:32Speaker 1: the game leaving tomorrow morning, which means we're probably gonna lose.
- 0:36Speaker 2: I know we're gonna lose because of that. That's what
- 0:39Speaker 2: you said. You kind of said with a spooky voice.
- 0:41Speaker 2: He said, you know, return to Glory podcast to a
- 0:45Speaker 2: little spooky to it, because you know we're gonna get
- 0:47Speaker 2: Walla while you're there.
- 0:50Speaker 3: He's sitting there deck right now outside Hunter.
- 0:53Speaker 4: A new deck, nice fall weather outside.
- 0:57Speaker 2: I would be amazed if that was your actual porch.
- 0:59Speaker 2: You can you would not go through that much effort
- 1:01Speaker 2: to decorate your porch with that many pumpkins.
- 1:03Speaker 4: You don't think I'd buy all these pumpkins behind me.
- 1:07Speaker 2: I feel very confident that you would never put that
- 1:10Speaker 2: many pumpkins on your porch.
- 1:12Speaker 3: How far drive of is it to Bloomington?
- 1:16Speaker 4: Ten hour drive?
- 1:18Speaker 1: That's not that sounds bad, but no in the city,
- 1:22Speaker 1: go through Saint Louis, a part of Illinois, and then
- 1:26Speaker 1: you had South at South it is not Yeah, we
- 1:30Speaker 1: are Bloomington's a little bit south back was ester geography
- 1:36Speaker 1: latitude longitude line by which.
- 1:41Speaker 2: What do you say, which one's which you're head?
- 1:46Speaker 3: You're heading dead south. That's all I know.
- 1:50Speaker 1: So that wasn't even the question I asked.
- 1:56Speaker 3: But we're gonna move on. Good good answer.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Indiana Week Churs Signetti, cigar boat, whatever you want to
- 2:05Speaker 1: call him, head coach of the Hoosiers, have it a
- 2:07Speaker 1: little bit of Indiana preview. He came from James Madison.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Big time usage of the transfer portal. I want to
- 2:18Speaker 1: spend some time in the top here because it got
- 2:19Speaker 1: brought up in reals press conference and we talk about it,
- 2:23Speaker 1: but we really don't go into detail.
- 2:25Speaker 4: I will say on.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Just the shift of college football, how it continues to
- 2:32Speaker 1: move and change for the better, for the worse, ever
- 2:36Speaker 1: you want to view it. But the transfer portal nil
- 2:39Speaker 1: a big factor that the conferences shifting around and teams
- 2:46Speaker 1: now there's going to be a brand new Pact twelve
- 2:48Speaker 1: in the last few weeks. Everything is so much different now.
- 2:53Speaker 1: One argument is that it's always been changing every ten years,
- 3:00Speaker 1: thirty years, but I think we're just seeing it change
- 3:02Speaker 1: so much quicker, and we're living in it, so we're
- 3:06Speaker 1: not really seeing the long term impacts of it.
- 3:10Speaker 4: While we're living in the change.
- 3:12Speaker 1: So I think the biggest thing to emphasize or highlight here,
- 3:16Speaker 1: and I think we're seeing it a little bit, is
- 3:19Speaker 1: it's gonna be hard to build a dynasty anymore for
- 3:25Speaker 1: extended periods of time. You guys, name any dynasties. I mean, Nebraska,
- 3:31Speaker 1: we can name that one. I think the recent one
- 3:33Speaker 1: you can talk about the dynasty Alabama.
- 3:37Speaker 3: Would you count Georgia the three year run? That's a
- 3:40Speaker 3: little I think five years says to be a dynasty.
- 3:45Speaker 1: See that's the question though now in modern world, I
- 3:50Speaker 1: guess Georgia's towards the beginning of this changing college football
- 3:55Speaker 1: landscape with the playoff. But I mean, think about back
- 3:58Speaker 1: in the day some of these teams that went on runs.
- 4:01Speaker 1: I mean, Dak I was hoping you throw out your
- 4:02Speaker 1: Oklahoma team.
- 4:04Speaker 2: The Minnesota Gophers in the fifth year.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Not this year, but Oklahoma had some years where they
- 4:11Speaker 1: were running towards the top there for a while.
- 4:13Speaker 4: Yeah, but.
- 4:16Speaker 3: I wouldn't call them a they didn't. They never won
- 4:18Speaker 3: it all. What'd you call the Chiefs right now? Dynasty?
- 4:26Speaker 2: Mm hmm.
- 4:29Speaker 3: That's a good question, because I think if you call
- 4:31Speaker 3: them a dynasty, I think you called Georgia dynasty.
- 4:33Speaker 2: Then I don't know if I Koma dynasty. That has
- 4:37Speaker 2: been enough player turnover.
- 4:40Speaker 4: Okay, Dak, did you just say Oklahoma's never won it all?
- 4:43Speaker 3: Two thousand was the last one?
- 4:47Speaker 4: No?
- 4:48Speaker 3: Two thousand and one?
- 4:50Speaker 2: No?
- 4:50Speaker 1: They they You have how many national titles? Does it
- 4:55Speaker 1: your team? The Oklahoma Sooners have five? You don't know,
- 5:00Speaker 1: do you?
- 5:01Speaker 3: Nope? But it's five, boy, it is five.
- 5:06Speaker 4: No, it's sixteen.
- 5:08Speaker 3: Okay, I'm talking about Yes, that's what I'm saying, Dak.
- 5:16Speaker 1: We're talking about the change of the college football landscape
- 5:19Speaker 1: from the past to the present. We're not just talking
- 5:22Speaker 1: about the last ten years. We talked about Nebraska. I
- 5:24Speaker 1: was going to say, Oklahoma in the fifties, Okay, they won.
- 5:29Speaker 1: You probably don't even know. They probably wont five national
- 5:31Speaker 1: titles in the fifties. They also won. They also won
- 5:37Speaker 1: four in the seventies. So I'm talking about teams like
- 5:40Speaker 1: that that historically have been able to put together long
- 5:46Speaker 1: strings of success over a decade. Right, I just don't
- 5:50Speaker 1: know that you're gonna see that ever again. Maybe that's
- 5:55Speaker 1: That's the point I'm trying to make is that all
- 5:57Speaker 1: these moving parts, it's harder to be the dynasty and
- 6:00Speaker 1: the culture. And if you do, I mean props to you.
- 6:03Speaker 1: You you beat the system. But I think now what
- 6:05Speaker 1: you're seeing in any given year, it is more competitive
- 6:11Speaker 1: at the top. It's not five teams that There are
- 6:14Speaker 1: a lot of competitive teams at the top, and there
- 6:17Speaker 1: will be year after year.
- 6:20Speaker 2: I agree. I also think it is tough to define
- 6:22Speaker 2: what a dynasty is. But yeah, I think the nil
- 6:28Speaker 2: it spreads out the talent. I don't remember. Maybe it
- 6:31Speaker 2: was rule someone was saying it where basically the maybe
- 6:36Speaker 2: it was Nick Saban, we're the best players. Now it's
- 6:40Speaker 2: would you rather be like, you know, two lane, They've
- 6:43Speaker 2: got all this money to spend. Some boosters are like, yeah,
- 6:46Speaker 2: we're not gonna be able to get the number one
- 6:48Speaker 2: overall recruit, but the number ten overall recruit, he might
- 6:50Speaker 2: take our money and be the number one guy on
- 6:52Speaker 2: our team versus being the number three guy in Georgia.
- 6:55Speaker 2: Like that's how it's just gonna spread it out where
- 6:57Speaker 2: it's just gonna be a wider depth of talent across
- 7:02Speaker 2: every team. In theory that coulda be just a mass
- 7:04Speaker 2: talent Where Alabama has all the top players, Ohio State
- 7:07Speaker 2: has all the top players. They're still going to be
- 7:10Speaker 2: heavily favored, but not as much as it was.
- 7:14Speaker 3: The Only thing that I think would make it easier
- 7:17Speaker 3: for a dynasty is I think it's easier to keep
- 7:22Speaker 3: a quarterback in college now true in top players than
- 7:26Speaker 3: it used to be, because.
- 7:28Speaker 2: After three years, you're not jumping to get paid.
- 7:30Speaker 3: Yeah you can go. You can get paid in college now,
- 7:32Speaker 3: I think. But he's also getting offers from any every
- 7:36Speaker 3: other school too, so he can go everywhere he wants.
- 7:38Speaker 3: I don't think. I just think it's too even out
- 7:41Speaker 3: now than I on transfer bortal life at the top, Like,
- 7:46Speaker 3: no Texas number one right now. They used to have
- 7:49Speaker 3: Alabama and Georgia where you just knew going in the
- 7:51Speaker 3: year there and one at all. Now it's it's toss
- 7:54Speaker 3: up every year. You have no idea.
- 7:57Speaker 1: It is like, what does Texans have that is helping them?
- 8:05Speaker 1: I'm gonna call it Texas is.
- 8:07Speaker 3: Back four year starter.
- 8:09Speaker 4: They have money.
- 8:12Speaker 1: They have money, and what are these other schools that
- 8:16Speaker 1: are around the top half money? What does Nebraska have
- 8:20Speaker 1: that hopefully will pay off for us here in the
- 8:23Speaker 1: next five or ten years.
- 8:24Speaker 3: Money how they got their five star If.
- 8:28Speaker 1: You follow the money trail, that's where things are heading
- 8:32Speaker 1: in college football, and I'll just say it in society
- 8:34Speaker 1: in general.
- 8:36Speaker 4: You look at the conferences.
- 8:38Speaker 1: Where are the teams going to the conferences that have
- 8:41Speaker 1: these big TV deals and where the money's at Again,
- 8:45Speaker 1: for the better, for the worse, I don't know. And unfortunately,
- 8:48Speaker 1: right now, unfortunately or unfortunately I keep saying it because
- 8:52Speaker 1: I don't know if it's good or bad.
- 8:53Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 8:54Speaker 1: My take on it, college football and college sports is
- 8:57Speaker 1: gonna be very individualized, all about me, me, me from me.
- 9:02Speaker 1: For the athlete's perspective, and it probably should be because
- 9:05Speaker 1: they're finally getting paid. It's gonna be like that for
- 9:08Speaker 1: a while, and you're gonna see these crazy nil the deals.
- 9:12Speaker 1: You're gonna potentially see contracts agents. These athletes become employees,
- 9:18Speaker 1: no more.
- 9:18Speaker 2: National letter of intent. Colleges directly pay students.
- 9:24Speaker 4: It's it's to get paid that way.
- 9:27Speaker 1: And so I guess the point is when you have that,
- 9:31Speaker 1: what I think you're seeing is you're right, your Alabama's,
- 9:34Speaker 1: your Georgia's, your Clemson's these Ohio states. These teams now
- 9:38Speaker 1: a lot of them are still good.
- 9:39Speaker 4: I'm not calling them not good.
- 9:40Speaker 1: It's so much more balanced because, like you said, the
- 9:42Speaker 1: best players are actively seeking out what is the best
- 9:46Speaker 1: deal I can make, What is the best team that
- 9:48Speaker 1: I can play on and play and make as much money.
- 9:51Speaker 1: And that's getting spread out right now amongst your top teams.
- 9:54Speaker 1: What will be interesting is will we ever see the
- 9:57Speaker 1: turn like we kind of did in the NBA a
- 10:01Speaker 1: little bit now with the Golden State Warriors, right where
- 10:04Speaker 1: teams kind of start sacrificing a little bit of salary
- 10:07Speaker 1: to say, all right, I'm going to go play on
- 10:08Speaker 1: a winning team again because I want to win more
- 10:11Speaker 1: than I care about myself. That could be something that
- 10:15Speaker 1: shifts in five or ten years. I don't know if
- 10:18Speaker 1: society will ever go back to that, right I think
- 10:21Speaker 1: it's fast. I think it's fast. That's my stick on
- 10:23Speaker 1: it right now. As individual sport, not individual sport, but
- 10:27Speaker 1: individual mind of I want to get paid.
- 10:30Speaker 4: I don't think there's anything wrong with.
- 10:31Speaker 2: That right now. It's also interesting because I don't know
- 10:33Speaker 2: if you have following the at the high school level
- 10:36Speaker 2: in the Omaha area. I don't know, did you read
- 10:38Speaker 2: the Bennington football story how basically all their good players
- 10:42Speaker 2: are going to West Side because they're able to transfer
- 10:45Speaker 2: and get you know, better school And now there's a
- 10:49Speaker 2: couple of Class A programs, there's a consolidation of talent
- 10:52Speaker 2: within the Class A and the Nebraska state football program
- 10:55Speaker 2: that's basically siphoning Class B and lower Class A talent.
- 11:00Speaker 2: It's creating a couple of schools that have had to
- 11:01Speaker 2: fold their football seasons because they can't maintain their their
- 11:05Speaker 2: football players because they just don't have enough students who
- 11:08Speaker 2: are playing football for them, because they're going to rival
- 11:10Speaker 2: schools because they're getting offered better things. So, I mean,
- 11:15Speaker 2: it's not just at the college level.
- 11:17Speaker 4: Mm hm.
- 11:18Speaker 1: And and that's the start right there of in the
- 11:21Speaker 1: high school level probably of how a lot of this
- 11:24Speaker 1: transfer type of thing happened at college, right because your
- 11:30Speaker 1: accessibility to view other schools, to attend other schools with
- 11:35Speaker 1: technology and get there. You know, back in the day
- 11:39Speaker 1: with technology and stuff, you didn't you didn't know. I mean,
- 11:41Speaker 1: you had no idea if you were in Nebraska, what
- 11:43Speaker 1: the heck was going on in in Oregon. I mean,
- 11:45Speaker 1: you had no idea. There's no way to find out.
- 11:47Speaker 1: You just knew Organ was playing a game every week.
- 11:49Speaker 1: Get somebody. But now it's a completely different world. It's starting. Yeah,
- 11:53Speaker 1: it's high school starting to see it. You're able to
- 11:56Speaker 1: to move and do different things so much EASi.
- 11:59Speaker 2: Kill and have played it four different.
- 12:03Speaker 3: Four Yeah, I think.
- 12:05Speaker 2: In different they weren't even all in the same state.
- 12:07Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, like it's it's pretty wild. What's going on.
- 12:15Speaker 2: The only on the right side.
- 12:17Speaker 3: The only thing what you said about the super team
- 12:19Speaker 3: taking less money, I I can't see that been in
- 12:22Speaker 3: college because the way these kids are probably looking it
- 12:25Speaker 3: is you got four years to make as much money
- 12:26Speaker 3: as you can. Who knows what's gonna happen in the pros.
- 12:30Speaker 3: So I think they'll just follow the money and make
- 12:32Speaker 3: it the four years. Then they'll go pro and test
- 12:34Speaker 3: out from there. I don't think. I don't think they'll
- 12:36Speaker 3: sacrifice any money, but you never know. I don't.
- 12:41Speaker 2: I mean even at the pro level that doesn't happen.
- 12:44Speaker 3: No, it's probably now it is.
- 12:48Speaker 4: It is very spread out now.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Dak wants to say the Celtics can start their own
- 12:52Speaker 1: dynasty year.
- 12:53Speaker 2: But everyone that's why the owner is trying to sell
- 12:56Speaker 2: the freaking Celtics, like, all right, we're gonna be in
- 12:58Speaker 2: the luxury text for the next ten years.
- 13:01Speaker 3: Yep, you gotta you gotta cut our best pickup of
- 13:04Speaker 3: the off season because we can't pay the luxury tax.
- 13:06Speaker 3: So there you go.
- 13:07Speaker 2: Yep.
- 13:09Speaker 1: So we spent a lot of the time talking about,
- 13:11Speaker 1: you know, the big teams, the big markets, the the
- 13:15Speaker 1: money making conferences. The most negative impact I think could
- 13:21Speaker 1: come to the lower conferences in schools that don't have
- 13:24Speaker 1: the money to self sustain. And what could happen in
- 13:29Speaker 1: that scenario where all the money in college football specifically
- 13:35Speaker 1: is going to these top teams. How do these smaller
- 13:38Speaker 1: programs exist?
- 13:39Speaker 4: Right? I think that's more to see how to come.
- 13:43Speaker 1: But for right now, they're benefiting from it in the
- 13:48Speaker 1: same sense that top tier Division one schools are pulling
- 13:51Speaker 1: from them, they're pulling from other schools as well.
- 13:55Speaker 4: Then there's this middle level.
- 13:56Speaker 1: I think that it doesn't get talked about, and I
- 13:59Speaker 1: would I guess put Nebraska in there, but you're Indiana's
- 14:02Speaker 1: right now, right, that are a part of in football anyways,
- 14:07Speaker 1: a power conference. They're not necessarily a football school, but
- 14:12Speaker 1: they have the ability to get a coach and what
- 14:14Speaker 1: does this coach do? Say, I'm from James Madison. I'm
- 14:17Speaker 1: just going to bring all my players with me because
- 14:18Speaker 1: I can. And guess what, we have more money. So yeah,
- 14:21Speaker 1: if you don't want to come, well, here's an extra
- 14:23Speaker 1: half a million dollars to come play if you want.
- 14:25Speaker 4: And then you see what's happening.
- 14:28Speaker 1: It is like Indiana now, who's six to oh and
- 14:32Speaker 1: trending upwards right now in the Big Ten. Nebraska, I say,
- 14:37Speaker 1: is also in that same boat. It'll be interesting to
- 14:42Speaker 1: see how those mid school, mid level schools, which ones
- 14:46Speaker 1: take advantage of it and have the ability to. I
- 14:48Speaker 1: think Nebraska is very high on that list because of
- 14:51Speaker 1: the money that is going into the program. Indiana obviously,
- 14:56Speaker 1: basketball is going to be a big staple there and
- 14:59Speaker 1: you're gonna see probably a lot of benefits there as
- 15:01Speaker 1: well as what they're seeing in football. But then a
- 15:04Speaker 1: team like Purdue, is it going to almost hurt Purdue
- 15:09Speaker 1: relatively speaking as to how these how the separation might
- 15:14Speaker 1: come in the Big Ten.
- 15:15Speaker 4: I don't know. This year doesn't look great for him
- 15:17Speaker 4: in football, but we'll see.
- 15:19Speaker 1: Like I think that's where my head's going is, Who's
- 15:22Speaker 1: it helping, who's it hurting? And then like short term
- 15:25Speaker 1: and the long term, what's going to be the impact?
- 15:29Speaker 3: Look who look who as the most amount money in
- 15:32Speaker 3: Big ten? Lukhu's at the top organ yep. So I
- 15:36Speaker 3: don't think their money's ever gonna go away. The Nike
- 15:39Speaker 3: they won't ever. So the organ is they're gonna fall off.
- 15:42Speaker 3: And Ohio State they'll always have money. Michigan they importanally
- 15:47Speaker 3: say he's gonna pay some the top quarterback and then
- 15:50Speaker 3: what do you say? Two million bucks?
- 15:51Speaker 2: He is gonna put it out there.
- 15:52Speaker 3: Yeah, so it'll just be a Barsool sponsored player. Yeah,
- 15:56Speaker 3: people will just start throwing money anywhere.
- 15:59Speaker 1: So well, you know, we say that the rich get richer,
- 16:03Speaker 1: but the rich are still getting spread out amongst the richer.
- 16:06Speaker 4: So, I mean, guys, what this is lean, what this is.
- 16:09Speaker 1: Heading towards is depending on how many good players are
- 16:13Speaker 1: out there, it's heading towards an NFL NBA type of system.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Like I've always said, that's where it's going and it's
- 16:20Speaker 1: going to end up there.
- 16:21Speaker 4: I still think that's where it's going to go.
- 16:23Speaker 1: And I to me, there's a lot that has to
- 16:27Speaker 1: get done between now and then for it to work well,
- 16:31Speaker 1: otherwise it's going to be a disaster if they tried
- 16:34Speaker 1: doing it too soon.
- 16:36Speaker 4: So I think I think we're going there.
- 16:38Speaker 1: I don't know if it's five years, ten years, twenty years,
- 16:42Speaker 1: but that's the direction it's heading with the money and
- 16:45Speaker 1: all of these things that are impacting college sports.
- 16:50Speaker 3: Now, how mad are you if you're like, let's say,
- 16:53Speaker 3: Johnny Manziela Baker Mayfield, you missed the it's getting paid
- 16:57Speaker 3: by ten years, five years, so Manzel would have been
- 17:01Speaker 3: unlimited amount of money in college.
- 17:03Speaker 1: Not not to get into all of the exact numbers
- 17:08Speaker 1: behind it, but I mean there have been lawsuits already
- 17:11Speaker 1: that are backdating some of these payments to these athletes.
- 17:16Speaker 1: The most recent one I think was Tererell Pryor I
- 17:19Speaker 1: just saw last week that went to the NCAA and said,
- 17:24Speaker 1: you know, I'm filing suit against the NCAA, the Ohio State,
- 17:26Speaker 1: Big ten, whoever you get money out of and saying
- 17:28Speaker 1: I should be should have gotten paid.
- 17:30Speaker 4: Guys, it's not good.
- 17:31Speaker 1: It's not it's not that's not promising for the NCAA,
- 17:33Speaker 1: A and all these lawsuits. Because you're right, Dak, like
- 17:38Speaker 1: these players are gonna say, we have right to compensation
- 17:41Speaker 1: too and should have had rights. So that's where I
- 17:45Speaker 1: don't know, like.
- 17:46Speaker 3: I can put a value on that thought.
- 17:50Speaker 1: That's that's the courts, that's your society, that's your judicial system.
- 17:55Speaker 1: It's hard, I mean, that's it's it's difficult because the one,
- 17:58Speaker 1: the one that happened that I don't remember exactly, it's
- 18:00Speaker 1: out there in the news.
- 18:03Speaker 4: A lot.
- 18:04Speaker 1: The settlement amount was, like I don't even remember what
- 18:07Speaker 1: it was, a lot less than what they actually requested.
- 18:11Speaker 1: But what they requested for was billions of dollars to
- 18:13Speaker 1: pay all these athletes. I mean, think about how many
- 18:15Speaker 1: there are right that are out there.
- 18:18Speaker 4: So it's it's crazy. It's a crazy world.
- 18:21Speaker 1: I thought it was worth talking about because we don't
- 18:23Speaker 1: dive into it much, but it's good to revisit because
- 18:26Speaker 1: we're living in it and you don't really realize it
- 18:28Speaker 1: unless you take a step back and think about what's
- 18:31Speaker 1: happening over the past few years in college sportsman college
- 18:35Speaker 1: football being the biggest one that it's impacting.
- 18:39Speaker 2: Speaking of conference you alignment, did you guys see the
- 18:42Speaker 2: news that SEC Big ten are looking to do a
- 18:46Speaker 2: football challenge somewhere to the a SEC Big ten.
- 18:49Speaker 3: That would be awesome. I mean, I think eventually they're
- 18:56Speaker 3: just getting joined together. You're going to have because I
- 19:01Speaker 3: many teams are in the Big.
- 19:02Speaker 2: Ten right now, eighteen.
- 19:05Speaker 3: And there's I think there's the eighteen the SEC. I
- 19:08Speaker 3: think they'll do twenty four and twenty four and just
- 19:10Speaker 3: make a super conference and then the other ones. They'll
- 19:13Speaker 3: get the Big twelve to join in on both sides
- 19:15Speaker 3: and then leave the other conferences to do whatever they.
- 19:18Speaker 4: Need to do.
- 19:19Speaker 3: That's the way I think it'll go.
- 19:20Speaker 1: That's what I was kind of saying with the NFL
- 19:23Speaker 1: NBA like type of system, because I like, yeah, and
- 19:27Speaker 1: their meeting to talk about trying to lock themselves in
- 19:32Speaker 1: the four teams each in the playoffs, which I think
- 19:34Speaker 1: is bold worthy. I think maybe it's gonna change about
- 19:43Speaker 1: every other year now. I mean, it's funny, but I
- 19:45Speaker 1: think back to when the playoff got implemented, right like
- 19:48Speaker 1: it got pasted them. We're like, oh my gosh, the
- 19:50Speaker 1: playoffs not for another three years or whatever. And then
- 19:53Speaker 1: we were like, oh, the eighteen or twelve team playoff.
- 19:55Speaker 1: We gotta wait, Like things are going to be moving
- 19:57Speaker 1: pretty quick.
- 20:00Speaker 2: Bring in relegation man, that's what I want.
- 20:02Speaker 3: Mm hm.
- 20:04Speaker 4: I love that idea.
- 20:06Speaker 2: They tried.
- 20:07Speaker 3: They tried to changes to a sixteen playoff before they
- 20:10Speaker 3: even did the twelve.
- 20:11Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, and we haven't even played one year of
- 20:14Speaker 4: it yet.
- 20:14Speaker 3: No, it's gonna be. I think the max it will
- 20:18Speaker 3: be is thirty two, but it'll get there.
- 20:19Speaker 2: What teams in the SEC do you want to play?
- 20:21Speaker 2: If there's a Big ten SEC? I mean, I feel
- 20:24Speaker 2: like there's obvious answers.
- 20:25Speaker 4: That's the argument is like, do we want to in
- 20:30Speaker 4: our non conference to help ourselves out for making the
- 20:34Speaker 4: playoffs play one of these schools?
- 20:36Speaker 1: Right? Obviously we're not a top tier Big ten team yet,
- 20:40Speaker 1: so we're not gonna get the Alabamas, Georgia's Texas. But
- 20:43Speaker 1: I mean they're they're gonna throw us against Missouri and
- 20:47Speaker 1: A and M and.
- 20:49Speaker 4: Oklahoma. That's a Big twelve.
- 20:53Speaker 1: They're gonna do that early on. I do think it'd
- 20:55Speaker 1: be fun to play in these other schools. Don't get
- 20:57Speaker 1: me wrong. It be fun to travel to your Arkansas,
- 21:00Speaker 1: let's use Ole miss Like. Those would be fun games.
- 21:02Speaker 1: But we're gonna get the old Big twelve rivalries first.
- 21:05Speaker 2: Out of that. Yeah, I saw someone online pitched the
- 21:09Speaker 2: idea of every year you just match up one B
- 21:12Speaker 2: one B two three B three, So where we ranked
- 21:15Speaker 2: the previous year, you get matched up with the next year.
- 21:19Speaker 3: And that's that's the way I thought when you said that,
- 21:21Speaker 3: that's the way I thought they would do it. Maybe
- 21:23Speaker 3: not f the bat, but.
- 21:26Speaker 1: I mean to do that for basketball, Like, it's not
- 21:30Speaker 1: exact science, but yeah, I mean your the lower teams
- 21:33Speaker 1: are playing your lower teams in the conference for sure,
- 21:35Speaker 1: like Nebraska. The one year I think we got Villanova
- 21:38Speaker 1: and the Big Ten Big East Challenge was the year
- 21:40Speaker 1: that we were coming off the NCAA Tournament with pet
- 21:44Speaker 1: Away and all of them. So I can they try
- 21:45Speaker 1: to do that a little bit. But it's not an
- 21:48Speaker 1: exact science.
- 21:49Speaker 3: It's it's a Big Ten ACC challenge right now? Right?
- 21:52Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 21:54Speaker 3: Yeah, you're you're never playing North Carolina. I don't know
- 21:56Speaker 3: who you probably Boston College and basketball.
- 21:58Speaker 1: We've played Boston College, Clemson, we played yeah, great North
- 22:03Speaker 1: Carolina State. Yeah those are Wake Forest. I think like
- 22:07Speaker 1: those Pantines. Okay, let's move on here. Indiana Preview. What
- 22:15Speaker 1: people actually came to listen to the Hoosiers oh series
- 22:21Speaker 1: talking to me the Hoosiers are six and zero. Brank
- 22:26Speaker 1: sixteenth or eighteenth, depending on what poll you're looking at.
- 22:29Speaker 1: New head coach Kurt sag and Netty coming from James Madison.
- 22:33Speaker 1: Google him. He's a he's a character.
- 22:38Speaker 4: Uh.
- 22:39Speaker 1: He also knows how to win. Their schedule, has I
- 22:46Speaker 1: guess been favorable. I did write this down. There combined
- 22:49Speaker 1: opponents record is fourteen and twenty three.
- 22:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:53Speaker 4: There.
- 22:56Speaker 1: Strength to schedule right now is one hundred of one
- 23:00Speaker 1: hundred and thirty four. Now I say that stat because
- 23:05Speaker 1: guess what Nebraska's is one hundred and seventeenth of one
- 23:08Speaker 1: hundred and thirty four nationally. So it's not like we've
- 23:12Speaker 1: had the toughest schedule either. They beat Florida International, Western
- 23:15Speaker 1: Illinois in Charlotte in the non conference, and then they
- 23:20Speaker 1: beat the crap out of UCLA on the road, and
- 23:23Speaker 1: then beat Maryland two weeks ago and then beat Northwestern
- 23:29Speaker 1: on the road by seventeen.
- 23:31Speaker 4: Wasn't really a seventeen point game. It was a lot
- 23:33Speaker 4: closer than that.
- 23:34Speaker 1: But they are six to no and they've put up
- 23:40Speaker 1: and I don't know what they're averaging exactly for points,
- 23:42Speaker 1: but they're scoring forty plus a game and that's putting
- 23:47Speaker 1: them what fourth nationally in scoring and sixth nationally defensive scoring.
- 23:55Speaker 1: So they are a quote unquote top ten team when
- 23:57Speaker 1: you look at it from that stat metrics rule came
- 23:59Speaker 1: out and at his breast conference that they're a top
- 24:02Speaker 1: ten caliber team. And here we are getting to go
- 24:07Speaker 1: to Bloomington for a big time matchup, big neon kickoff
- 24:11Speaker 1: on Saturday. First question, I guess, are you surprised Austin that,
- 24:18Speaker 1: I mean, Indiana is getting all this hype, this love
- 24:21Speaker 1: from the national media at this point in the season.
- 24:27Speaker 2: I mean, they average forty seven and a half points
- 24:29Speaker 2: a game. I do think that part of their ranking
- 24:35Speaker 2: is a product of just being six and oh and
- 24:37Speaker 2: being a Big ten team. I think just like had
- 24:40Speaker 2: we not lost to Illinois, we probably would been higher
- 24:43Speaker 2: than Indiana just because of the way teams fell ahead
- 24:46Speaker 2: of them. And so I know that's why you know,
- 24:50Speaker 2: you put through the stats and you say they're a
- 24:51Speaker 2: top ten team. But I don't know if anyone really thinks.
- 24:56Speaker 2: I think that's their factory and their schedule and they're
- 24:58Speaker 2: looking at their rank and they're like, Okay, they haven't
- 25:00Speaker 2: really played anyone good, but we can't knock them for
- 25:04Speaker 2: obliterating the people they have played, I would say most
- 25:09Speaker 2: people are. I'm definitely surprised at how good they are.
- 25:11Speaker 2: I don't think now admittedly we didn't look at their schedule,
- 25:15Speaker 2: but they're definitely better than we thought they were. Their
- 25:18Speaker 2: coach kind of was a little cringey at the Big
- 25:19Speaker 2: Ten media days. He kind of gave off Scott frosty vibes,
- 25:23Speaker 2: saying the Big Ten has to adjust to him, which
- 25:26Speaker 2: felt okay. But yeah, they're better than what They're better
- 25:32Speaker 2: than what everyone thought sixteen teams high. But like I said,
- 25:36Speaker 2: I think it's just a product of you win all
- 25:38Speaker 2: your games. You're winning. You won two games by a
- 25:42Speaker 2: ship tone, but I think that inflates your offensive numbers
- 25:46Speaker 2: a little bit. But I mean that's what you're supposed
- 25:49Speaker 2: to do. You supposed to win your games. I'm not
- 25:51Speaker 2: gonna blaming for that.
- 25:55Speaker 3: Yeah, they have played the worst Big Ten teams you
- 25:59Speaker 3: could play, but they're six and no, you got to
- 26:02Speaker 3: rank him by now. I do think you guys think
- 26:07Speaker 3: this is probably the biggest game in Indian football history
- 26:11Speaker 3: so far.
- 26:12Speaker 2: They had Michael Pennix a couple of years ago where
- 26:13Speaker 2: they were actually good.
- 26:16Speaker 3: I don't remember how Yeah, they were, but you couldn't
- 26:19Speaker 3: have fans there.
- 26:21Speaker 2: True, that's true. Yeah, let's kickoff.
- 26:26Speaker 3: They were six and that year, weren't there? Are they five?
- 26:28Speaker 3: And oh they were or something?
- 26:31Speaker 2: I don't remember.
- 26:31Speaker 3: I can't remember. They were good that year though, But
- 26:36Speaker 3: but their coach brought in everybody from James Madison, and
- 26:38Speaker 3: James Madison was a powerhouse last year. So and they
- 26:41Speaker 3: could score on the ball or they could score anytime
- 26:43Speaker 3: they went last year too. I really like their quarterback
- 26:46Speaker 3: they have, Yeah.
- 26:49Speaker 2: I mean their coaches and thirty five. I mean that's
- 26:53Speaker 2: a pretty good coaching record.
- 26:55Speaker 4: He Kurt knows how to win.
- 26:57Speaker 1: And you mentioned the James as some transfers it there
- 27:02Speaker 1: are a lot, right, but there's only five on the
- 27:05Speaker 1: I mean five starters on defense and three on offense,
- 27:08Speaker 1: so like it's not like it's their whole team. You
- 27:12Speaker 1: combine it with some of the pieces of Indiana had
- 27:15Speaker 1: last year. Here's here's the expectation for Indiana.
- 27:21Speaker 4: Why.
- 27:21Speaker 1: Yeah, people say their schedule is easy, and I'm highly
- 27:25Speaker 1: guilty of that saying that.
- 27:26Speaker 4: I just don't think Indiana's very good. And I still
- 27:28Speaker 4: don't know, Dak.
- 27:31Speaker 1: You had them eighteenth in your preseason rankings in the
- 27:33Speaker 1: Big Ten out of eighteen teams. Austin and I we
- 27:37Speaker 1: both had them at seventeen. And you look at the schedule, right.
- 27:44Speaker 1: I guess going into the year, if I try to
- 27:46Speaker 1: think on what I thought of Indiana, I didn't think
- 27:48Speaker 1: they'd go three and oh a non conference. I mean,
- 27:50Speaker 1: I get they played Ford International, Charlotte, and somebody else
- 27:53Speaker 1: had Western Illinois, so I probably I was like, I
- 27:57Speaker 1: don't know, maybe they could.
- 27:58Speaker 4: I guess they could win those three.
- 27:59Speaker 1: But then you're telling me that, then they win their
- 28:01Speaker 1: next three Big Ten teams again, granted maybe not the
- 28:04Speaker 1: best Big Ten teams, but they want um.
- 28:07Speaker 4: So am I surprised?
- 28:10Speaker 2: No?
- 28:11Speaker 1: I mean no, but yes, like I just I didn't.
- 28:14Speaker 1: I didn't expect. I didn't expect them to be six
- 28:16Speaker 1: and zero. I guess going into the year, I would
- 28:19Speaker 1: have said born too at this point, I just I
- 28:23Speaker 1: didn't think they'd beat UCLA. We all had UCLA ahead
- 28:26Speaker 1: of them, we all had Northwestern ahead of them, we
- 28:29Speaker 1: all had Maryland ahead of them in our power rankings.
- 28:31Speaker 1: And guess what, they went three and oh in those games.
- 28:33Speaker 1: So yeah, they've done credit to that program. They done
- 28:37Speaker 1: a really good job. Now the flip side of that,
- 28:41Speaker 1: we I believe are better than all three of those teams, hopefully.
- 28:46Speaker 1: Now there's this year of Big ten teams that we
- 28:48Speaker 1: all think are quote unquote decent and maybe comparable.
- 28:51Speaker 4: Maybe we are comparable to all of those teams.
- 28:53Speaker 1: But this probably will be their toughest game so far
- 28:58Speaker 1: this year that they've seen and all the pressure I
- 29:01Speaker 1: should say all, but a lot of the pressure is
- 29:04Speaker 1: on them.
- 29:05Speaker 2: They're ranked, they've never been there.
- 29:09Speaker 4: We've also never been there yet.
- 29:12Speaker 2: But we're like I said, they're the ones undefeated Big
- 29:16Speaker 2: newon kickoff, they're the ones who are ranked.
- 29:19Speaker 1: It's at their house, so there is obviously a lot
- 29:22Speaker 1: of pressure. I don't want to say there's no pressure
- 29:24Speaker 1: on us, because there's a lot. Like you want to
- 29:26Speaker 1: flip that around and say, nebrask is five and one,
- 29:30Speaker 1: we haven't been five to one, and how many.
- 29:31Speaker 2: Years bold game on the line, bold game.
- 29:34Speaker 4: On the line?
- 29:34Speaker 1: You lose this, let's start looking at our schedule, what
- 29:37Speaker 1: games are favored in the rest of the year. Like,
- 29:40Speaker 1: there's pressure on our end too, and I think the
- 29:44Speaker 1: team that can handle that pressure the best and know
- 29:48Speaker 1: how to deal with it. And it's not something you'd say, Okay,
- 29:51Speaker 1: you wake up and say I'm going to handle the
- 29:52Speaker 1: pressure today. No, that's a long term thing that you're
- 29:56Speaker 1: instilled in your player's mindsets. And what do we know
- 29:59Speaker 1: with our upper classmen and how they've dealt with close
- 30:02Speaker 1: games and pressure late in games.
- 30:04Speaker 4: It hasn't been good. Now.
- 30:07Speaker 1: I can't speak for anything that these Indiana players because
- 30:12Speaker 1: they obviously have not had much success the Indiana players,
- 30:16Speaker 1: but the James Madison players have and Kurt Signetti you
- 30:19Speaker 1: mentioned his record as a head coach.
- 30:21Speaker 4: He definitely they know how to win.
- 30:24Speaker 1: So it's a huge game back all the way full
- 30:27Speaker 1: circle to your point, it is one of the biggest
- 30:29Speaker 1: games that for both teams on the schedule, and I
- 30:33Speaker 1: don't think many people saw that coming into the year
- 30:38Speaker 1: because of just who the teams.
- 30:40Speaker 4: Were trying to see.
- 30:42Speaker 1: If we had have my importance rankings, uh, I feel
- 30:48Speaker 1: like I had them Indiana game pretty dang high in
- 30:51Speaker 1: the in the importance rankings because of not because of
- 30:55Speaker 1: all this stuff, but just given the fact that this
- 30:57Speaker 1: is a team that I think we could or a beat.
- 31:01Speaker 2: Uh.
- 31:01Speaker 4: But for six and a half point dogs, I haven't
- 31:03Speaker 4: even mentioned the spread yet.
- 31:04Speaker 2: Well, it started at three and a half, it's moved
- 31:06Speaker 2: to six and a half over the last week. I
- 31:09Speaker 2: agree with you. I think I think we're on their level.
- 31:16Speaker 2: I really like talent wise and execution wise, and just
- 31:22Speaker 2: where the programs. I think we're probably a little bit
- 31:24Speaker 2: further ahead as far as far as the program at
- 31:26Speaker 2: just because it's our year two establishing that rural culture.
- 31:30Speaker 2: But I really do think that it's going to be
- 31:35Speaker 2: a competitive game. Our our strength is matches up against
- 31:39Speaker 2: their strength. I think you actually just said something interesting.
- 31:44Speaker 2: What does that mean though?
- 31:45Speaker 1: If if and I don't expect it, if it's a
- 31:49Speaker 1: one score game, we lose. Whatever, I don't expect them
- 31:51Speaker 1: to beat us by ten plus. What does that say, though,
- 31:56Speaker 1: I guess to everything if we lose in Matt Rule's
- 32:04Speaker 1: second year to a first year head coach at when
- 32:07Speaker 1: you grabb you guys from James Madison in a program
- 32:09Speaker 1: that you could say is way behind us, from a
- 32:13Speaker 1: from a culture, from a edition standpoint, Yeah, fans all
- 32:21Speaker 1: of that, Like, what does that say? It is at
- 32:23Speaker 1: a high level. It doesn't look good.
- 32:28Speaker 3: No, I don't know who they paid out to get
- 32:31Speaker 3: this schedule. But if they made you, guys, put your
- 32:35Speaker 3: putt your mind down. They're only losing one game on
- 32:37Speaker 3: the year. They go Washington, Michigan State, Michigan, Ohio State
- 32:43Speaker 3: produce after that, So I don't know how they got
- 32:46Speaker 3: that easy at schedule. That's easy, big thing schedule I
- 32:48Speaker 3: ever saw. But it's pretty notoks like if they're good
- 32:51Speaker 3: or not.
- 32:53Speaker 2: Honestly, their schedule is pretty close to ours, all right.
- 32:58Speaker 2: I mean, Colorado's probably better than any of their coloradoways,
- 33:01Speaker 2: better than any of their non con games.
- 33:02Speaker 3: In Illinois, like quite a bit, but Illinois better than.
- 33:06Speaker 2: Any of their other big ten pounds outside of.
- 33:10Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't I I don't know if I believe
- 33:15Speaker 3: in Indiana or not yet. God, they just haven't blamed anybody.
- 33:21Speaker 2: I guess. They put up fifty points a game on
- 33:24Speaker 2: right now, that's not nothing.
- 33:27Speaker 1: We're gonna find out a lot because I do think
- 33:31Speaker 1: from a talent perspective, this is going to be the
- 33:33Speaker 1: most talented team they played on Saturday, Nebraska, Uh Indiana.
- 33:39Speaker 1: Getting to their personnel here, Dak. You mentioned their quarterback earlier,
- 33:43Speaker 1: Curtis Rourke. He's a sixth year six five, twenty three
- 33:50Speaker 1: pound player out of Ohio, where he is was recruited
- 33:57Speaker 1: by I guess who Frank solog long long back in
- 34:02Speaker 1: the day. His brother was recruited by Frank Solich. Older brother,
- 34:07Speaker 1: so Curtis Rourke was a twenty twenty two Mac Player
- 34:12Speaker 1: of the Year at Ohio. He's thrown for almost eighteen
- 34:16Speaker 1: hundred yards this year, fourteen touchdowns, two interceptions. He's a big.
- 34:20Speaker 2: Dudev completion percentage.
- 34:23Speaker 1: I've I've heard comparisons of like Luke Altmeyer, but just
- 34:30Speaker 1: more experienced, which torched us. That scares me a little bit.
- 34:34Speaker 1: He throws to several different guys. I'm not seeing really
- 34:39Speaker 1: anyone that stands out entirely. Maybe their leading receiver just
- 34:44Speaker 1: from a stat standpoint, is Elijah san It Sart. Sorry,
- 34:49Speaker 1: I don't know if those are ends or ours. In
- 34:50Speaker 1: my notes, there are twenty nine receptions five hundred and
- 34:55Speaker 1: thirteen yards, two touchdowns, Omar Cooper, Miles Price, else Cross.
- 35:00Speaker 1: I mean, all these guys are catching balls from him.
- 35:03Speaker 1: He spreads it around. They're gonna be very balanced running
- 35:07Speaker 1: and passing the ball. I think we've all the teams
- 35:10Speaker 1: we've played so far we can say besides Illinois have
- 35:13Speaker 1: had an identity of what they want to do running
- 35:16Speaker 1: or passing the ball. I think this is going to
- 35:18Speaker 1: be a team that plays complimentary football. Justice Ellison and
- 35:23Speaker 1: ty Tyson Lawton are their two running backs, just as
- 35:27Speaker 1: average six point four yards of carry, which it is
- 35:30Speaker 1: pretty impressive. Offensive line is fairly young. I guess three sophomores,
- 35:35Speaker 1: two seniors is what they start. I think the key
- 35:39Speaker 1: here pressure, yes, and I think that's just going to
- 35:44Speaker 1: be the talking point and it might get beat and
- 35:50Speaker 1: people's heads over and over. But if we can get
- 35:52Speaker 1: pressure on Curtis Rourke and our defensive line, our front seven,
- 35:56Speaker 1: which a lot of us can say has been the
- 35:58Speaker 1: strength of our team.
- 36:02Speaker 2: Say, and our dbs have actually looked like we've had
- 36:04Speaker 2: some dvs pop up. That's like, man, it's a deeper
- 36:07Speaker 2: pool than we thought it was going to be.
- 36:08Speaker 1: At corner, it like, if we can do that and
- 36:13Speaker 1: get pressure on Curtis Rourke can make him uncomfortable for
- 36:18Speaker 1: a veteran that he is. I think we're going to
- 36:20Speaker 1: do well in this game if we can see from
- 36:23Speaker 1: the get go that their offensive line is doing a
- 36:25Speaker 1: good job in pass pro and they're able to get
- 36:28Speaker 1: four or five yards of carry they're going to put
- 36:31Speaker 1: up forty points as far as say they're going to
- 36:34Speaker 1: do it, because it's not the type of offense that
- 36:36Speaker 1: it's going to be very predictable from a scheming standpoint.
- 36:40Speaker 1: So I think how we have to win this game
- 36:42Speaker 1: on the defensive side is by hoping a little bit
- 36:46Speaker 1: that we have the better athletes and then scheming up
- 36:50Speaker 1: the different blitzes and ways that we can get pressure.
- 36:53Speaker 1: That's where the strategy comes in, is getting pressure on
- 36:55Speaker 1: Curtis Roorke in the pocket. And if we can do that,
- 36:58Speaker 1: I like our chances of holding them to twenty points.
- 37:01Speaker 1: And I don't think anybody's done that had the ability
- 37:04Speaker 1: to do that because of the talent these teams that
- 37:06Speaker 1: they played against.
- 37:07Speaker 4: I think we will.
- 37:08Speaker 2: The thing that scares me the most, I would feel
- 37:11Speaker 2: a lot more confident if they weren't coming off of
- 37:14Speaker 2: bye week. I think our defensive scheme is unique enough
- 37:18Speaker 2: that it kind of catches people off a little bit
- 37:21Speaker 2: and when you only have a week to prepare, you
- 37:23Speaker 2: aren't quite ready for all the folds that throws at you.
- 37:26Speaker 2: But the fact that they've had a bye week, I
- 37:28Speaker 2: know we've had a bye week as well, like, don't
- 37:30Speaker 2: get me wrong, but I don't love the fact that
- 37:33Speaker 2: their offense is really good, really balanced, and they've had
- 37:38Speaker 2: an extra week to look at our defense and what
- 37:40Speaker 2: we do well.
- 37:43Speaker 3: Now, like I said about the pressure part, you you
- 37:48Speaker 3: can't just let sixty year quarterback sit back there because
- 37:50Speaker 3: he'll pick you apart. You saw every defense in college.
- 37:52Speaker 3: You can see it's just like all miner like you said,
- 37:55Speaker 3: he said, I mean, you guys got pressure on him,
- 37:59Speaker 3: but not enough where he sat back there and he's
- 38:01Speaker 3: picked you apart. Like he'll sit back, he'll read the
- 38:03Speaker 3: field great against you see, you've got to you gotta
- 38:06Speaker 3: get to him. You guys think you'll blitz all game
- 38:08Speaker 3: or what's your what's defensive playing there?
- 38:11Speaker 1: I just think you got to be creative and how
- 38:14Speaker 1: you do that, which has been the message all year
- 38:17Speaker 1: for this defense is you can't be I think that
- 38:21Speaker 1: Illinois game, we got comfortable and thought that our front
- 38:24Speaker 1: four could do their job, and and we talked about
- 38:28Speaker 1: that in the recap part of that game. We have
- 38:30Speaker 1: to utilize our linebackers and secondary in a way that
- 38:35Speaker 1: confuses a veteran quarterback that has seen it all. So
- 38:40Speaker 1: I do think you're gonna see a lot of blitzes,
- 38:42Speaker 1: and that might come at the sacrifice of potentially some
- 38:45Speaker 1: big plays. The risk reward there. We haven't shown a
- 38:49Speaker 1: whole lot of that this year yet, and maybe you
- 38:51Speaker 1: can argue we haven't had to, uh, based on some
- 38:54Speaker 1: of the opponents we've played, given Ruggers what they want
- 38:58Speaker 1: to do, Purdue what they want to do running the ball.
- 39:03Speaker 1: So I think we're gonna see a little bit different
- 39:06Speaker 1: game plan on the defensive side, which I think is
- 39:08Speaker 1: a good thing. I don't think we should be scared
- 39:09Speaker 1: by that, but I also think that could come with
- 39:12Speaker 1: a few big plays that we might have to swallow.
- 39:15Speaker 1: But there could be some high risk, high reward And
- 39:17Speaker 1: if you forced a couple of turnovers, which have done
- 39:19Speaker 1: a tremendous job of this year and happened in the
- 39:21Speaker 1: past on the road, like those are huge defining moment
- 39:26Speaker 1: plays and there's going to be four or five plays
- 39:29Speaker 1: that really define this game. I really believe that because
- 39:33Speaker 1: of the way this game is going to go, so uh,
- 39:36Speaker 1: I do.
- 39:37Speaker 4: I think being creative is the big answer there.
- 39:40Speaker 2: On the defense, they've only kicked four field goals all year.
- 39:45Speaker 3: I was just gonna bring on specialties on that. Yeah,
- 39:48Speaker 3: it'll exact excite you guys at the game. Probably come
- 39:51Speaker 3: down to kicking. So there you go. It vantaged Nebraska, right, Well,
- 39:58Speaker 3: you don't know, actually follow me. Four field goals? Has
- 40:01Speaker 3: he made all four?
- 40:02Speaker 2: He's made all four?
- 40:03Speaker 3: Okay, you know i'd give the advantage.
- 40:05Speaker 4: Then then I completely agree.
- 40:11Speaker 1: Talking about the special teams is a huge thing. We
- 40:16Speaker 1: can't beat ourselves with it, Like we can't have negative
- 40:19Speaker 1: special teams plays is the most important thing. I don't
- 40:22Speaker 1: I'm not saying we have to be spectacular on special
- 40:24Speaker 1: teams because I don't know that we have the ability to.
- 40:27Speaker 2: Black shirt Bouchin. He can't get blocked twice.
- 40:30Speaker 1: Black shirt Bouchin yet, Yeah, we can't.
- 40:34Speaker 4: We can't get blocked.
- 40:35Speaker 1: I mean, if we miss a couple of field goals,
- 40:37Speaker 1: like I'm expecting it at this point. Obviously, if we
- 40:40Speaker 1: drill him, great, hopefully Albano maybe is back, well I
- 40:43Speaker 1: think maybe hopefully.
- 40:44Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 40:46Speaker 1: I guess he's probably a better but it's a whole unit.
- 40:50Speaker 1: So just we can't get a field goal blocked right
- 40:53Speaker 1: in return for sixty yards for a touchdown. If if
- 40:56Speaker 1: it gets blocked, you know, hopefully it's the ball where
- 41:00Speaker 1: it was kicked from. We also got to be able
- 41:03Speaker 1: to make him if we decide to kick him. Maybe
- 41:06Speaker 1: the decision on fourth and three from the twenty is
- 41:09Speaker 1: let's go for it instead, and I'd be okay with that.
- 41:12Speaker 1: I don't think many people are going to question that
- 41:14Speaker 1: play call at this point in the season. You know,
- 41:16Speaker 1: the coaching staff has spent links talking about that. At
- 41:20Speaker 1: what point in time fourth and six from the twenty,
- 41:24Speaker 1: I don't know, Like, what do you do that? That's
- 41:26Speaker 1: the question that the coaching staff has to decide on
- 41:29Speaker 1: when it comes to kicking these field goals in games
- 41:31Speaker 1: like this.
- 41:32Speaker 4: That's why they get paid the big bucks.
- 41:35Speaker 3: You got to give Gus Johnson a good show because
- 41:37Speaker 3: so you can hype you up next week. He's following
- 41:39Speaker 3: you all around the nation. He'll be back in the
- 41:43Speaker 3: game next week.
- 41:44Speaker 2: I do, I guess Johnson and Joel Klatt, I really do.
- 41:46Speaker 1: I do too.
- 41:48Speaker 3: It just feels like a big game with it. I
- 41:49Speaker 3: wish it wasn't noon by they call games.
- 41:51Speaker 1: But okay, uh, let's move the other side of the ball.
- 41:57Speaker 1: Indiana's defense they run a four two five multiple Look,
- 42:02Speaker 1: we're gonna see a lot of different fronts. Here's the
- 42:08Speaker 1: question the headline this week that I hear everybody talking about,
- 42:11Speaker 1: but I think it's we're talking about here as well,
- 42:14Speaker 1: is the rushing attack and what can Nebraska get going
- 42:19Speaker 1: on the ground in the second half of the year.
- 42:23Speaker 1: Rule mentioned that he thought we've done a good job
- 42:25Speaker 1: of getting you know, four or five yard runs.
- 42:29Speaker 4: Maybe, I guess, I don't know.
- 42:30Speaker 1: Some people I think would argue that that they don't
- 42:33Speaker 1: really know what they're seeing that either, But he wants,
- 42:35Speaker 1: you know, the big explosive runs, the big explosive plays
- 42:39Speaker 1: from these running backs guys. The more that I watch
- 42:42Speaker 1: other college football teams, it's a combination of everything. Why
- 42:48Speaker 1: the rushing game is I'll call it stale right now.
- 42:52Speaker 1: But you have a guy like Cam Scattabo from Arizona State,
- 42:58Speaker 1: like I think it makes a world of difference in
- 43:02Speaker 1: our running game. And I've always said to you know,
- 43:05Speaker 1: the offensive line, it starts there. It still does. There's
- 43:08Speaker 1: no doubt in that you have a good offensive line
- 43:11Speaker 1: that can build holes. Anybody can run the ball. But
- 43:13Speaker 1: when you're talking about extending four yards to eight yards
- 43:16Speaker 1: or ten yards to sixty yards, that's where dynamic backs
- 43:20Speaker 1: come into play. And we have four good all five
- 43:25Speaker 1: out of ten backs, five to six out of ten, Like,
- 43:28Speaker 1: that's great. I don't think there's how many teams in
- 43:30Speaker 1: the country can say they have four guys that are
- 43:33Speaker 1: a five or six out of ten, maybe maybe zero
- 43:37Speaker 1: besides us. So that's not a bad thing. But when
- 43:40Speaker 1: you're looking to have explosive runs, it'd be nice to
- 43:43Speaker 1: have one guy that's a seven or eight out of
- 43:45Speaker 1: ten at running back that can do the things that
- 43:48Speaker 1: I just mentioned. There's guys out there. We've played it
- 43:52Speaker 1: against a couple of them. I don't know that we
- 43:55Speaker 1: have that. And that's where I'm a little bit concerned.
- 43:57Speaker 1: Is can our run game ever get going?
- 43:59Speaker 2: How how long before we can just trade for Askton
- 44:03Speaker 2: gent midseason?
- 44:04Speaker 4: Yeah? Like watching a guy like that, just.
- 44:07Speaker 2: Hey, here's our nail money. We'll trade you dowdel and
- 44:11Speaker 2: Thomas Fadoni.
- 44:15Speaker 1: Oh that's a good question. Would you do that right now?
- 44:17Speaker 1: Fdoni and Dowdell for Genties?
- 44:19Speaker 2: Oh?
- 44:19Speaker 3: My god? Like yeah, with five thousand dollars, you'd have
- 44:25Speaker 3: to say, oh yeah.
- 44:27Speaker 1: Follow up question, is there any single player out there
- 44:30Speaker 1: that you trade for Dylan Ryol and given Ryol as
- 44:32Speaker 1: a freshman this.
- 44:33Speaker 3: Year, No, right, you have to. They have to come
- 44:39Speaker 3: in and start like as record is right now.
- 44:42Speaker 4: Yep.
- 44:44Speaker 1: Is there any single player out there that you would
- 44:46Speaker 1: do a one to one trade with?
- 44:48Speaker 2: Maybe cam Mood maybe, but the fact that he's a freshman.
- 44:52Speaker 3: I don't think I would Dan Gabriel.
- 44:56Speaker 2: Nope, No, Dylan Gabriel is not gonna make your sivers better.
- 45:03Speaker 3: Arch Manning, m.
- 45:12Speaker 4: I think one guy.
- 45:13Speaker 2: I don't think that.
- 45:14Speaker 3: Yeah, I wouldn't do dealing Gabriel because he's he's gone instantly.
- 45:19Speaker 3: Arch Manning would be the one that.
- 45:22Speaker 2: That you'd consider. He still has a red shirt ability. No,
- 45:26Speaker 2: he read shirt last year, Didny? Yeah?
- 45:28Speaker 3: No, he's so he's got three years left.
- 45:33Speaker 4: Yeah, that's a good that's a good question.
- 45:34Speaker 3: I mean, that's good to say you wouldn't trade arch
- 45:37Speaker 3: Manning for Rayla, But if you're guaranteed you.
- 45:40Speaker 2: Keep Rayola, I think I think it's pretty negligible between
- 45:43Speaker 2: the two.
- 45:44Speaker 1: And then you have a family that would be a
- 45:45Speaker 1: good pull out there. Arch Manning or Dylan Rayl Who
- 45:49Speaker 1: would you rather have for the future?
- 45:51Speaker 3: Oh God, I think are you posting on ESPN, he
- 45:55Speaker 3: posted on.
- 45:55Speaker 1: The Hot podcast, considering I don't have my ESPN credentials
- 46:01Speaker 1: probably the Hustes podcast.
- 46:03Speaker 3: Well, plus than that, I been better be a little
- 46:06Speaker 3: bit forent of you blust on the ESPN.
- 46:07Speaker 2: But well, anyways, back to the offense versus defense, I
- 46:14Speaker 2: will say it's comforting to know that they've given up.
- 46:16Speaker 2: Their defense is given up twenty four plus the last
- 46:19Speaker 2: two Big Ten games against Northwestern and Maryland, and I
- 46:21Speaker 2: think our offense is better than Northwestern and Maryland. So
- 46:23Speaker 2: that's where I feel a little bit better. Have granted
- 46:26Speaker 2: both those games they scored forty two for forty one
- 46:30Speaker 2: and forty two, so they're probably their defense is probably
- 46:32Speaker 2: playing a little bit different with the lead. But I
- 46:36Speaker 2: feel better knowing that offensive has offenses have scored on them.
- 46:43Speaker 3: Yeah, but have they have they scored on them because
- 46:49Speaker 3: because they built up all these big leads, the defense
- 46:51Speaker 3: gets a little bit more relaxed. Like you, when you
- 46:54Speaker 3: build a big league you let teams drive down the
- 46:56Speaker 3: field slowly on you.
- 46:58Speaker 4: That wasn't what happened Indiana Northwest. I know that.
- 47:01Speaker 3: No, but that's the one game that's got to give
- 47:04Speaker 3: you hope, is that Northwestern hung with them because Northwestern sucks, which.
- 47:10Speaker 4: I maybe they also could just be another decent team.
- 47:14Speaker 1: Yeah, I wouldn't put them, maybe in that decent category
- 47:17Speaker 1: that we talked about on Sunday. But you know, that's
- 47:20Speaker 1: what you want to think is our offense is even
- 47:24Speaker 1: though it's not very good, hasn't shown to be great,
- 47:27Speaker 1: it's better than last year, and you would think that
- 47:29Speaker 1: maybe it's better or as good as Northwestern Maryland, right,
- 47:32Speaker 1: and then our defense is much better, hopefully one of
- 47:36Speaker 1: the top of the Big Ten, hopefully is where we're
- 47:39Speaker 1: seeing it.
- 47:40Speaker 4: So like that. That's why I look at a game like.
- 47:42Speaker 1: This and you look at their scores, you look at
- 47:43Speaker 1: our scores, and you think, Okay, which way is it
- 47:47Speaker 1: gonna go. We're winning games fourteen to seven, twenty eight
- 47:50Speaker 1: to ten. I guess we scored a little more against Colorado.
- 47:54Speaker 1: They're winning games forty one to twenty four. Right if
- 47:59Speaker 1: it if the game stays in the load high teens,
- 48:04Speaker 1: low twenties, I like our chances. Like that tells me that,
- 48:08Speaker 1: right if it becomes a shoot that we're not winning,
- 48:10Speaker 1: that's why we lost Illinois. It became I don't have
- 48:14Speaker 1: a good feeling if our defense can't stop him. Now,
- 48:16Speaker 1: Royola did some amazing things that game right to keep
- 48:19Speaker 1: us in it. I just don't think that's our style
- 48:22Speaker 1: of football. That's not what we preached. And once that
- 48:24Speaker 1: game got in that style with Illinois, it was, oh boy, like,
- 48:29Speaker 1: all right, Royola, try to bail us out if you.
- 48:30Speaker 2: Can, and closed a couple of times, just did and.
- 48:34Speaker 4: He did a great job.
- 48:35Speaker 1: And then overtime and it was the worst overtime performance
- 48:38Speaker 1: in the history of college So I think for us
- 48:43Speaker 1: to win, and I think we do have a decent
- 48:45Speaker 1: chance to win, it's gonna have to be twenty one
- 48:46Speaker 1: to seventeen, seventeen, fourteen, twenty four to seventeen type of game.
- 48:51Speaker 1: It's not going to be forty one thirty seven like
- 48:53Speaker 1: DA's predicted every week.
- 48:54Speaker 3: And yeah, I'm on prediction again. I actually have seventy
- 49:03Speaker 3: two to sixty eight written down as my no.
- 49:09Speaker 1: Well, I mean that I will say my score prediction.
- 49:11Speaker 1: I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna say it. I'm going
- 49:14Speaker 1: twenty one to twenty Nebraska.
- 49:16Speaker 2: Whoa, whoa what?
- 49:19Speaker 3: Whoa what?
- 49:20Speaker 4: I'm guys, I'm going to the game and breaking it's
- 49:22Speaker 4: breaking the streak I.
- 49:24Speaker 3: That you just said thirty minutes ago, there's no shock
- 49:26Speaker 3: we win this game.
- 49:28Speaker 1: Because I'm going. Okay that that you don't you still
- 49:32Speaker 1: understand my sarcasm. They're like my record on the roads
- 49:36Speaker 1: two and fourteen. So when I say that I'm going
- 49:38Speaker 1: and I lose, I always just say that, like that's
- 49:40Speaker 1: not my actual score prediction. But at the same time,
- 49:42Speaker 1: I'm like, I don't win road games when I go.
- 49:45Speaker 2: Would be interesting to see what the spread was for
- 49:47Speaker 2: all those games.
- 49:48Speaker 1: You know, all I know one of them, like I
- 49:52Speaker 1: to I jokingly say that, like people like will laugh,
- 49:56Speaker 1: I'm the problem, guys, I'm not the problem, like all
- 49:59Speaker 1: realistic there's not that's not that's not possible.
- 50:01Speaker 3: Right, But how many of those games were Scott frostc games.
- 50:04Speaker 1: He went to, I don't. We don't need to go
- 50:07Speaker 1: through my two and fourteen record. It's it's very poor.
- 50:11Speaker 1: I got a road to win at Purdue and the
- 50:13Speaker 1: road to at Illinois. Clearly, me being there does not
- 50:17Speaker 1: impact everything. But at the same time, it's fun to
- 50:19Speaker 1: say that I'm the problem. I just I think that
- 50:22Speaker 1: I think we're gonna win. I do I think we
- 50:26Speaker 1: were going into the year I think we were like
- 50:29Speaker 1: a four point favorite. I believe in like the preseason lines,
- 50:33Speaker 1: what has changed really since the first of the year.
- 50:37Speaker 1: Indiana has looked probably a little better. Where are we
- 50:40Speaker 1: at compared to what we expected? I would not see.
- 50:44Speaker 1: So I just I don't think Indiana is as hyped
- 50:46Speaker 1: as everybody's making them up to me and all the
- 50:49Speaker 1: pressure on them, not all most because we have a
- 50:52Speaker 1: lot on us too. I'm taking us this week just
- 50:56Speaker 1: enough to get my hopes blown away and me to
- 50:58Speaker 1: be sad driving back from Bloomington on Sunday, like I
- 51:01Speaker 1: am embery other road game. But I think I think
- 51:03Speaker 1: we're gonna win this game, and I think we're gonna
- 51:05Speaker 1: win it, Cloaks.
- 51:06Speaker 2: It is. It is interesting also because it opened at three.
- 51:09Speaker 1: And a half.
- 51:10Speaker 3: Yeah, which one do you guys put money on them?
- 51:12Speaker 2: Which put any money on them? But it's weird.
- 51:15Speaker 4: It's weird. I mean, I usually don't like betting on
- 51:20Speaker 4: our game.
- 51:21Speaker 1: I don't think I have this year yet, to be honest,
- 51:25Speaker 1: I think I'm gonna bet on Nebraska. I just feel
- 51:28Speaker 1: like it's a good spot.
- 51:29Speaker 2: This is just all teeming up for a very set.
- 51:32Speaker 2: I can feel you're.
- 51:34Speaker 1: Just waiting for me to come on, and I don't
- 51:35Speaker 1: even know what my emotions will be.
- 51:37Speaker 3: Things play though.
- 51:38Speaker 2: I can already feel the tech coming in Thursday.
- 51:41Speaker 4: Okay, well, nice try.
- 51:44Speaker 2: I can feel the Texans coming in. Have to find
- 51:46Speaker 2: a way, big embarrassment. I can already feel those text
- 51:51Speaker 2: message they probably already typed up in your phone. I
- 51:54Speaker 2: actually have us losing twenty eight to seventeen. O oh boy,
- 52:02Speaker 2: I just I'm I just am terrified of their offense.
- 52:06Speaker 2: And I just think if they get a big leader offense,
- 52:10Speaker 2: they they seem to find them getting in their own way.
- 52:15Speaker 3: God, I still I would definitely take that six nas
- 52:19Speaker 3: spread for Nebraska. I don't think. I don't think they're
- 52:21Speaker 3: gonna win my more than six, but god, dang, I
- 52:23Speaker 3: still know who's gonna win this. Go that's all you Sunday.
- 52:27Speaker 3: What's my score prediction is? I'll go what?
- 52:33Speaker 4: Why do you?
- 52:35Speaker 3: Twenty to seventeen Nebraska? Would you say to seventeen?
- 52:41Speaker 2: Okay?
- 52:42Speaker 4: All right, so is that a missed extra point or
- 52:47Speaker 4: two field goals?
- 52:50Speaker 2: Probably make extra point? Do we go for two? Okay?
- 52:56Speaker 3: Twenty one seventeen? You ain't making a field.
- 52:58Speaker 4: Goal, but we couldn't miss an extra point.
- 53:03Speaker 3: Easily. Yeah, all right.
- 53:07Speaker 4: All right, Uh survivor picks for one of us.
- 53:13Speaker 2: Let's see, Yeah, that's this week. I got Tulane over Rice,
- 53:20Speaker 2: I got Wazoo, Washington State over Hawaii, s m U
- 53:24Speaker 2: over Stanford, and the unstoppable Vanderbilt over Ball State.
- 53:31Speaker 3: Now, how do you still have all these low tier teams?
- 53:33Speaker 3: What are you just pulling these? Pull these out of nowhere?
- 53:37Speaker 3: What I've gotten by this point I would have to take.
- 53:41Speaker 3: I would have to take Georgia beating Texas or something
- 53:44Speaker 3: like that.
- 53:47Speaker 2: I'm saving them all.
- 53:49Speaker 4: You gotta cross check Austin's teams.
- 53:51Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, we need to check this out. No way, I've.
- 53:55Speaker 2: Got a spreadsheet that I've been tagging them in and
- 53:57Speaker 2: supposed to highlight if they're duplicates.
- 53:59Speaker 3: So I pick people get every week we did, I didn't.
- 54:02Speaker 3: I forgot to keep you track.
- 54:05Speaker 4: And that's still lost. Uh. Dak on your head. Look
- 54:12Speaker 4: at you. You are.
- 54:14Speaker 3: On a heater going seven last two weeks. I'd be
- 54:20Speaker 3: last two weeks, eighteen and seven last two weeks.
- 54:24Speaker 4: You are five and three. On your locks.
- 54:26Speaker 1: Your lock did not hit your lock of the year
- 54:29Speaker 1: be more specific than not hit. How do you do
- 54:31Speaker 1: that with Oklahoma? I don't know, but you are a
- 54:34Speaker 1: very sad person on Saturday.
- 54:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 54:41Speaker 1: Your overall record on the year it's fifty six, forty
- 54:46Speaker 1: four and one. Here you're hitting at a fifty four
- 54:48Speaker 1: and a half percent. That's right where you want to
- 54:51Speaker 1: be if you want to win some money. So right
- 54:55Speaker 1: now is the turning point to either go above or
- 54:57Speaker 1: below that you're having a good year.
- 54:59Speaker 4: You're high.
- 55:00Speaker 1: Everybod should tell his picks, and Dak before coming on
- 55:02Speaker 1: the pod, said he just wrote down ten picks, but
- 55:04Speaker 1: he loves all ten of them.
- 55:05Speaker 4: He feels really confident of them.
- 55:07Speaker 2: He said, I love all ten. I'm confident all of them.
- 55:09Speaker 2: Well except for that one.
- 55:11Speaker 3: Before before we do these picks, I just want to
- 55:14Speaker 3: hat myself up more. I am six and on an
- 55:16Speaker 3: NFL locks this year.
- 55:17Speaker 4: There you go, as am.
- 55:19Speaker 3: I I don't know why we haven't part done those
- 55:23Speaker 3: of both.
- 55:24Speaker 1: But okay, all right, dakly you can there. You're not
- 55:29Speaker 1: You're not on any time crunch here, so go through
- 55:32Speaker 1: say your games. Do you want to give some reasoning
- 55:35Speaker 1: you're no longer on a clock?
- 55:38Speaker 3: Okay, I really don't have too much reasoning about this.
- 55:41Speaker 3: But all right, I will do uh, we'll do one
- 55:45Speaker 3: game right now off the bat Tuesday night, not Tuesday
- 55:47Speaker 3: Wednesday night. It might have already kicked off. Who knows
- 55:50Speaker 3: if I you minus seven, it's utib pause up. Boston
- 55:55Speaker 3: College plus seven and a half against Virginia. I don't
- 55:58Speaker 3: know if cast is hurt or something. And I think
- 56:00Speaker 3: bost College is better in Virginia. Now here's my locker.
- 56:03Speaker 3: Duke my three and is Florida State. I have no
- 56:05Speaker 3: idea how Zach close Duke's five and one. Florida State
- 56:07Speaker 3: is ass I think they're one in five. You flip
- 56:10Speaker 3: those records and it's only it's only a three point spread.
- 56:14Speaker 3: Next one, Purdue plus twenty seven halfgs Oregon Purdue. You
- 56:17Speaker 3: don't want to play them on Friday night.
- 56:19Speaker 4: Okay, so we have time to talk about this.
- 56:22Speaker 1: Did you see you see the stat of Purdue's last
- 56:24Speaker 1: three games against the number two AP ranks team at night?
- 56:29Speaker 3: Yeah, they're one.
- 56:30Speaker 4: They did lose their last one.
- 56:31Speaker 3: I think last year was it Ohio State they kicked
- 56:34Speaker 3: this year?
- 56:34Speaker 1: Maybe Ohio State forty eight twenty back like.
- 56:38Speaker 3: Nie years ago in Purdue in Iowa a couple of
- 56:41Speaker 3: years ago I think it was yep.
- 56:43Speaker 4: Iowa was the other one.
- 56:45Speaker 3: I don't love that spread, but that's I only took
- 56:47Speaker 3: him because of that. All right? Next one b Yu
- 56:49Speaker 3: minus nine and half megs Oklahoma State. Did you guys
- 56:51Speaker 3: see it having to Mike Gunny this weekend? No got
- 56:54Speaker 3: a concussion from a bullhead button him on the bye
- 56:59Speaker 3: week for what biting him? A bowl head buttons him.
- 57:03Speaker 4: Oh, yes, that's a lock.
- 57:12Speaker 3: They suck their quarterback is all of us in all
- 57:15Speaker 3: of us combined Virginia plus torn hapginst Clemson. I hate Clemson.
- 57:21Speaker 3: Next one, Missouri plus four and a half against Auburn.
- 57:25Speaker 3: I think Auburn's offense is awful. Missouri is not as
- 57:28Speaker 3: good as what I thought they'd beat. And honestly, I
- 57:31Speaker 3: probably take an Auburn because we need Missouri to keep losing.
- 57:35Speaker 3: All right. Next one, Oklahoma plus one happen in South Carolina.
- 57:38Speaker 1: You're you're going through this like you're on a timer.
- 57:41Speaker 1: You can slow down and dug at your picks.
- 57:45Speaker 3: Me and you want Missouri to keep losing, then we'll
- 57:47Speaker 3: just say that we also want Oklahoma keep losing. But
- 57:51Speaker 3: we'll go Okahoma plus one a half against South Carolina. You
- 57:54Speaker 3: guys know the reason behind that, all right? Next one,
- 57:56Speaker 3: these next two, I want to know what you guys
- 57:58Speaker 3: think about both these Tennessee plus do against Bama. I'm
- 58:02Speaker 3: not impressed with either of these teams. I think Alabama's
- 58:07Speaker 3: defense really sucks, and I think Tennessee's is a little
- 58:10Speaker 3: bit better. I I just took them because they're home.
- 58:15Speaker 3: Next one, Georgia plus five against Texas. You know the reason,
- 58:18Speaker 3: man and I took that. I hate Texas? All right? Boom, Now,
- 58:23Speaker 3: what do you guys think about those last two games.
- 58:25Speaker 4: To watch that you didn't have a stop watch on. Uh?
- 58:31Speaker 1: I hate Tennessee Obama game. I have no idea, no idea.
- 58:37Speaker 1: I lean Alabama, but like I have no idea how
- 58:44Speaker 1: either of these teams are going to respond. Tennessee I
- 58:46Speaker 1: thought was decent. They have not looked great for the
- 58:49Speaker 1: past two weeks. Alabama, I mean, who knows, Austin, what
- 58:56Speaker 1: do you have on that one?
- 58:57Speaker 4: Anything?
- 58:59Speaker 2: I think I like Tennessee, Yeah.
- 59:03Speaker 3: Just because they're home. Yeah, both teams have the Both
- 59:08Speaker 3: teams I thought were great early in the season and
- 59:10Speaker 3: have fallen off the map.
- 59:13Speaker 1: What's I don't know what the implied like home field advantages. Obviously,
- 59:17Speaker 1: it's maybe a little bit different in college based on
- 59:20Speaker 1: the environment.
- 59:21Speaker 4: But you know, the NFL is like three. I would
- 59:25Speaker 4: guess colleges maybe a little.
- 59:26Speaker 3: Bit more more and a half probably.
- 59:30Speaker 1: I mean getting to the Georgia Texas game, I think
- 59:32Speaker 1: that's about right. Like you give me Georgia Texas right
- 59:36Speaker 1: now on a neutral field. I don't know who that
- 59:39Speaker 1: I'm taking.
- 59:41Speaker 3: I don't know which quarterback I'm taking.
- 59:43Speaker 4: Part of me leans Georgia in this game too.
- 59:47Speaker 1: Uh. I think I like Georgia a little more than
- 59:49Speaker 1: I like Alabama, But I just I hate they're both
- 59:53Speaker 1: on the road, Alabama and Georgia.
- 59:54Speaker 4: I just don't.
- 59:56Speaker 1: And it's scary. And in Texas I think right now,
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: Scott all the all the targets on their back right
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: now and pressure and all of that, especially how they
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: just drilled Oklahoma and everyone thinks that well even us,
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: maybe Texas is the one team they're gonna slip up.
- 1:00:15Speaker 4: I think this week's the best week to do it.
- 1:00:19Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: Those other three teams are winning go home kind of
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: like they're guys.
- 1:00:25Speaker 4: CC.
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: You could probably lose five games. I'll still make it,
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: but it should be wan to go home for Bama,
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: Tennessee and Georgia.
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: Well, I mean, if you just have to be in
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: the top twelve, they're all going to be in.
- 1:00:33Speaker 4: The top twelve.
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: Yeah, before those spots. They have to be in the
- 1:00:37Speaker 3: top eight. Is for those spots to be taken.
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: True, But realistically, for those spots.
- 1:00:43Speaker 3: Five of those spots will be taken. You gotta be
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: top seven, but.
- 1:00:47Speaker 4: One of those still could be them.
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: That's true, I hope.
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: I mean if Georgia Alabama is they're probably not in
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: the championship game. It's gonna be Texas and Texas and.
- 1:00:58Speaker 3: M Realistically, no, yeah, they're yeah.
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: Games, You're probably not in the SEC championship.
- 1:01:06Speaker 4: Texas wins this week. I think that.
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: I just I think they could lose this week and
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: then it's all open again. I mean, yeah, you're right
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: if they win this.
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: Yeah too much Jesse C talk.
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: Dah, get back to the big ten. You know my
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: favorite pick of the week, I don't think he had
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: it on there. Iowa minus five and a half. Guys,
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: Iowa's good. That was real good good hood because Michigan State.
- 1:01:32Speaker 3: I like that a lot.
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: I think that I know they're at Michigan State. I
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: think I think they're better all around than Michigan State.
- 1:01:39Speaker 3: Everybody, everybody gave up on them after the Iowa State loss.
- 1:01:42Speaker 3: Will look what Iowa State's like now, right.
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: Well, they're running backs really freaking good.
- 1:01:47Speaker 4: Mm hmm shocker.
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: Mcmra was fucking lighting money on fire, but macamer didn't
- 1:01:57Speaker 3: they pay him like five hundred thousand dollars. They lit
- 1:01:59Speaker 3: that money on fire.
- 1:02:01Speaker 4: I liked something about the mayor.
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: That guy sucks. But they don't need a quarter Why
- 1:02:09Speaker 3: don't they throw three million dollars at a quarterback? Like?
- 1:02:12Speaker 3: Can they not go find what? They try to? Guess?
- 1:02:15Speaker 4: Maybe they don't want to.
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: Who wants to play quarterback at Iowa?
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: They said trouble for trying to throw money at a quarterback?
- 1:02:25Speaker 4: All right, twelve, which is luck? Boys, wish me luck
- 1:02:29Speaker 4: on my road adventure.
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: Good luck, good luck.
- 1:02:33Speaker 4: Thanks thanks tach Rhetorical question.
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: Uh, we're back on Sunday, probably with a bunch of
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: tears and depressed emotions, but that's what we do.
- 1:02:46Speaker 4: Here on the Return to Glory Podcast.
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: Hope you're wrong, I hope I'm wrong.
- 1:02:50Speaker 4: Hope I'm right with my score prediction.
