Sein Name fällt eher in Verbindung mit Disziplin und militärischem Drill, doch Friedrich II. von Preußen konnte auch anders: Er liebte Kunst und Musik und komponierte sogar selbst: hauptsächlich Werke für Flöte, die er auf Privatkonzerten in seinen Potsdamer Schlössern aufführte.
