- 0:00The great mysteries that have occupied humanity since the dawn
- 0:04of human existence include the questions Where do we come from?
- 0:10Where do we go when we die? How has this vast universal
- 0:14creation manifested and what is its purpose and significance?
- 0:20Do we have a soul and what, if anything, survives the death of
- 0:26our current life? Awareness.
- 0:30There are many ideas that have come up throughout humanity's
- 0:33existence. It is worthwhile to reflect on
- 0:36our own relationship to these questions as we become more
- 0:41aware of the issues in our own lives and the aspiration that
- 0:46turns us toward them as we grow and mature in our understanding.
- 0:53In the Titiria Upanishad Brahmanandavali Chapter 6
- 0:58translated by Sri Aurobindo quote The spirit desired of old
- 1:05I would be manifold for the birth of peoples.
- 1:09Therefore He concentrated all himself in thought, and by the
- 1:14force of his brooding He created all this universe.
- 1:18Yeah, all whatsoever existeth now.
- 1:21When He had brought it forth, He entered into that He had
- 1:25created. He entering in became the is
- 1:29here and the may be there. He became that which is defined
- 1:35and that which hath no feature. He become this housed thing and
- 1:41that houseless. He became knowledge and he
- 1:46became ignorance. He became truth and he became
- 1:51falsehood. Yeah, He became all truth even
- 1:56whatsoever here existeth. Therefore they say of him that
- 2:01he is truth. End Quote and continuing in
- 2:07Chapter 7 quote. In the beginning all this
- 2:11universe was non existent and unmanifest from which this
- 2:16manifest existence was born. Itself created itself.
- 2:23None other created it. End Quote.
- 2:27And in chapter 8 quote the spirit who is here in a man and
- 2:34the spirit who is there in the sun.
- 2:37It is one spirit and there is no other.
- 2:41End Quote. Reference the Upanishads.
- 2:45Sri Rabindo Tituria Upanishad Brahmanandavali, pages 270 to
- 2:51273. The Divine created the entire
- 2:57manifested universe and is the container, the contained and the
- 3:02existent in all creation. The soul is the spark of the
- 3:06Divine, which knows this truth of oneness with the Divine and
- 3:10maintains the conscious connection to the Divine even
- 3:14when the external being forgets. We cannot dissect the body to
- 3:21find the soul. We cannot find the soul in the
- 3:25vital being or in the mind of man.
- 3:28Yet without the soul, without the Divine who has entered into
- 3:33and created and maintained all life and all forms, there would
- 3:37not be a human individual to take up this search for the
- 3:42soul. A disciple asks Sweet Mother,
- 3:48what is the role of the soul? The mother responds quote, But
- 3:55without the soul we wouldn't exist.
- 3:58The soul is that which comes from the Divine without ever
- 4:01leaving Him, and returns to the Divine without ceasing to be
- 4:06manifest. The soul is the Divine made
- 4:09individual without ceasing to be Divine.
- 4:14In the soul, the individual and the Divine are eternally one.
- 4:18Therefore, to find one's soul is to find God.
- 4:22To identify with one's soul is to unite with the divine.
- 4:27Thus, it may be said that the role of the soul is to make a
- 4:31true being of man. End Quote Reference Srioro Bindu
