Vox Liturgica: The propers of the day according to the 1962 Roman Missal. The commemoration of Saint Paul, June 30 in the year of our Lord 2026.
• 0:18
A note from Dom Gaspar Lefevre. The Tiber on entering Rome, writes an ancient poet, salutes the Basilica Of Saint Peter and on leaving it, that of Saint Paul. The heavenly doorkeeper has built his sacred abode at the gates of the eternal city, which is an image of heaven.
• 0:45
On the opposite side, the ramparts of the city are protected by Paul's portico. Rome is between the two. With Peter, the new Moses, leader of the new Israel, is associated Paul, the new Aaron, more eloquent than the first, chosen in his mother's womb to announce to the Gentiles the riches of the grace of Christ. In the name of the father, and of the son, and of the holy ghost. Amen.
• 1:25
The introit. I know whom I have believed, and I am certain that he is able to guard the trust committed to me against that day being a just judge. O Lord, thou hast proved me and known me. Thou hast known my sitting down and my rising up. Glory be to the father and to the son and to the holy ghost as it was in the beginning is now and will be through all ages of ages.
• 2:05
Amen. I know whom I have believed and I am certain that he is able to guard the trust committed to me against that day being a just judge. The Collect, let us pray. O God, who by the preaching of blessed Paul the Apostle didst teach the multitude of the Gentiles, grant we beseech thee that we who celebrate his heavenly birthday may also experience his patronage through our Lord Jesus Christ, thy son, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God through all ages of ages. Amen.
• 2:58
A commemoration of Saint Peter. O God, who by delivering thy blessed apostle Peter the keys of the kingdom of heaven did confer upon him the pontifical power of binding and loosing. Grant that by the help of his intercession, we may be freed from the bonds of sin who live in reign with God the Father in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God through all ages of ages. Amen. A lesson from the letter of Saint Paul the Apostle to the Galatians.
• 3:42
Let me tell you this, brethren. The gospel I preached to you is not a thing of man's dictation. It was not from man that I inherited or learned it. It came to me by a revelation from Jesus Christ. You have been told how I bore myself in my Jewish days, how I persecuted God's church beyond measure and tried to destroy it, going further in my zeal as a Jew than many of my own age and race.
• 4:18
So fierce a champion was I of the traditions handed down by my forefathers. And then he who had set me apart from the day of my birth and called me by his grace saw fit to make his son known to me so that I could preach his gospel among the Gentiles. My first thought was not to hold any consultations with any human creature. I did not go up to Jerusalem to see those who had been apostles longer than myself. No.
• 4:58
I went off into Arabia. And when I came back it was to Damascus. Then when three years had passed, I did go up to Jerusalem to visit Peter and I stayed a fortnight there in his company. But I did not see any of the other apostles except James, the Lord's brother. Such is my history.
• 5:28
As God sees me, I am telling you the plain truth. The gradual. He whose power enabled Peter to become the apostle of the circumcised enabled me to become the apostle of the Gentile, and they recognized the grace God had given me. The grace God has shown me has not been without fruit. That grace remains with me always.
• 6:02
Alleluia. Alleluia. Paul, holy apostle, loyal preacher sent to instruct the Gentiles. Intercede for us. Alleluia.
• 6:17
A continuation of the holy gospel according to Matthew. At that time, Jesus said to his disciples, behold, I am sending you out to be like sheep among wolves. You must be wary then as serpents and yet innocent as doves. Do not put your trust in men. They will hand you over to courts of judgment and scourge you in their synagogues.
• 6:49
Yes. And you will be brought before governors and kings on my account so that you can bear witness before them and before the Gentiles. Only when they hand you over thus, do not consider anxiously what you are to say or how you are to say it. Words will be given you when the time comes. It is not you who speak.
• 7:16
It is the spirit of your father that speaks in you. Brothers will be given up to execution by their brothers and children by their fathers. Children will rise up against their parents and will compass their deaths. And you will be hated by all men because you bear my name. That man will be saved who endures to the last.
• 7:48
The offertory. Great reverence have I for thy friends, o God. Sovereign power is theirs in abundance. The secret. O Lord, heed the prayers of thy apostle Paul and hallow thy people's gifts so that things which thy own ordinance makes acceptable to thee may become more so by the fervor of his pleading.
• 8:22
A commemoration of Saint Peter. May the prayer of the blessed apostle Peter, beseech thee, O Lord, commend unto thee the petitions and offerings of thy church. And as a result, may the sacrifice we celebrate to give honor to him be effectual for pardon to us through our Lord Jesus Christ, thy son, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God through all ages of ages. Amen. The preface of apostles.
• 9:07
Just it is indeed and fitting right in for our salvation to entreat thee humbly, O Lord, that thou wouldst not desert thy flock, O everlasting shepherd. But through thy blessed apostles, wouldst keep it under thy constant protection, that it may be governed by those same rulers whom, as vicars of thy work, thou didst set over it to be its pastors. And therefore, with angels and archangels, with thrones and dominions, and with all the hosts of the heavenly army, we sing the hymn of thy glory saying without ceasing. Holy, holy, holy, lord god of hosts. The heavens and the earth are full of thy glory.
• 10:02
Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the lord. Hosanna in the highest. The communion. Amen.
• 10:20
I say to you that you who have left all things and followed me shall receive a hundredfold and shall possess life everlasting. The post communion let us pray. Having received thy holy sacrament, O Lord, we entreat thee that through the intercession of thy blessed apostle Paul, the mysteries we have celebrated to his glory may be to us a healing remedy. A commemoration of Saint Peter. May the gift which we have offered fill us with joy, O Lord, that as we proclaim the wonderful and thy apostle Peter, so we may through him receive the grace of thy forgiveness through our Lord Jesus Christ, thy son, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God through all ages of ages.
• 11:31
Amen. In the name of the father and of the son and of the holy ghost. Amen. Saint Paul, pray for us. Saint Peter, pray for us.
