- 0:01Speaker 1: Good morning, good morning, good morning, and welcome, welcome, welcome
- 0:04Speaker 1: the idiots. Time out for car talk with the Dungeons
- 0:07Speaker 1: family of Autoo's in here in studios. Most of the
- 0:10Speaker 1: Dungees family, well we've got some of it.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Yes, it truly is. Dungeons family. Got a very special
- 0:16Speaker 2: guest this morning. It's my wife, Kimberly. Say hello Kimberly.
- 0:19Speaker 3: Hello everybody, Hey, thanks.
- 0:21Speaker 2: For coming today. We want to hear about what's going
- 0:23Speaker 2: on at the Richard k YMCA. There's always so much
- 0:28Speaker 2: going on at the Why I'm amazed when I look
- 0:30Speaker 2: at the calendar and think about all the stuff happening.
- 0:34Speaker 4: We do have very many different arms that reach out
- 0:38Speaker 4: to the community, and I want to mention especially that
- 0:42Speaker 4: we teach all of the third graders in Bartlesville how
- 0:46Speaker 4: to swim, serving five hundred and sixty one kids teaching
- 0:50Speaker 4: them how to swim, and that's a very important aspect
- 0:54Speaker 4: to what we do.
- 0:55Speaker 3: A very small thing.
- 0:56Speaker 2: But yeah, now that's all kinds of exciting stuff going on.
- 1:00Speaker 2: It's quite a list. And at the dealership we're pushing
- 1:02Speaker 2: for the end of the month. January, the first month
- 1:06Speaker 2: of the year is almost done. We're just a few
- 1:09Speaker 2: deals away from our new Toyota goal. So the team
- 1:12Speaker 2: is pushing and I know there was a lot of
- 1:15Speaker 2: activity on the showroom already this morning and these last
- 1:18Speaker 2: two days. We want to sell every car we can.
- 1:22Speaker 2: That's part of the Toyota business is this race to
- 1:26Speaker 2: keep up and earn more cars. And every we get
- 1:29Speaker 2: allocations twice a month, and you know, people were always like,
- 1:32Speaker 2: where are the cars. We're still dealing with that in
- 1:34Speaker 2: the Toyota world right now. You know, I've got about
- 1:38Speaker 2: ten or so on the ground ran new Toyotas and
- 1:41Speaker 2: about twenty five in allocation on their way to us.
- 1:44Speaker 2: That's a pretty good ratio. That's that's what we want
- 1:47Speaker 2: to grow them out on the ground. But it's hard
- 1:50Speaker 2: because we keep selling them as fast as they come.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Of those twenty five on the way, probably five of
- 1:55Speaker 2: them are already spoken for. Ye and you know it
- 1:59Speaker 2: just keep picking up. And so well, if you are
- 2:03Speaker 2: looking for something, you don't have to drive to Tulsa.
- 2:06Speaker 2: I hear that from people all the time, that we
- 2:09Speaker 2: don't have it, I have to go down there. We
- 2:10Speaker 2: can find the car for you. Don't worry about it.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Just let us know what you're looking for. Our great
- 2:16Speaker 2: team of sales specialists help you find it and take
- 2:21Speaker 2: care of it, and you can buy local. We really
- 2:23Speaker 2: want to take care of the local market and we
- 2:26Speaker 2: prefer to sell our cars here. So just reach out
- 2:29Speaker 2: to us. And it is the end of the month,
- 2:32Speaker 2: so we're pushing hard and you guys are at the Why.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Get back to why you came. You're the new chairman.
- 2:41Speaker 3: Yes, yes, I am Julius. Thank you.
- 2:46Speaker 4: We are having a capital campaign starting tomorrow kicking off
- 2:52Speaker 4: at the Why from six to seven thirty. Everybody is
- 2:56Speaker 4: welcome to come and hear more about the Why.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Off on the annual campaign and at six to seven
- 3:03Speaker 2: thirty in the gymnasium. It's a great event. And I
- 3:07Speaker 2: know this is an annual thing that you guys do,
- 3:09Speaker 2: and you do. You talked a little bit about just
- 3:11Speaker 2: one of the programs teaching the kids to swim, and
- 3:14Speaker 2: you know, I looked online there you've got fitness classes,
- 3:18Speaker 2: youth and adult aquatics, which is a wide range of things.
- 3:22Speaker 2: I mean, it's a lap swimming, to the teaching and
- 3:25Speaker 2: to swim, to family.
- 3:26Speaker 4: Swim to it's the only it's the only indoor swimming
- 3:30Speaker 4: pool in bar Hillsville that is open to the public.
- 3:33Speaker 2: Well, we school age care, childcare, youth sports, Thunder basketball,
- 3:39Speaker 2: the other basketball league, I NBC Karate youth football, and cheer.
- 3:44Speaker 4: The pickleball held back doing the football an no, no,
- 3:48Speaker 4: but we do have yes. I was telling him that
- 3:52Speaker 4: we do have pickleballers on the basketball court as well
- 3:55Speaker 4: as the kids playing basketball and basketball league.
- 3:58Speaker 2: Wow, the handball and racker courts, and of course you
- 4:01Speaker 2: know the the weightlifting and fitness areas for people to
- 4:05Speaker 2: just access at any time. The cleanest in town, you guys,
- 4:09Speaker 2: thank you. And on top of that, you've got things
- 4:12Speaker 2: like Parents' Night for Valentine's Day where people can drop
- 4:16Speaker 2: their kids off and have a little time away from
- 4:19Speaker 2: the kids.
- 4:20Speaker 4: Also, I want to mention that after school care and
- 4:24Speaker 4: before school care we do start up about a little
- 4:27Speaker 4: under four hundred kids before and after school, giving them
- 4:31Speaker 4: a safe place to be and take care of them.
- 4:35Speaker 3: We are also.
- 4:38Speaker 4: Going to be employing many many teenagers in the community
- 4:46Speaker 4: this summer to man the lifeguard that's right at the pools,
- 4:50Speaker 4: all the pools that we we take care of during
- 4:53Speaker 4: the summertime.
- 4:54Speaker 2: So people think about the wives being a place there,
- 4:56Speaker 2: but it reaches out and all over the place, providing
- 4:59Speaker 2: the lifeguard services for the community. And you know, you've
- 5:05Speaker 2: made it possible for a lot of these sports to
- 5:07Speaker 2: continue to operate in town. And I've given them a
- 5:09Speaker 2: place and a kind of a access to a facility
- 5:14Speaker 2: and a way to get organized. That's really great. You know,
- 5:19Speaker 2: things lay and other. I'm still going on on the
- 5:22Speaker 2: crazy calendar Father Daughter Dance on February twenty second, the
- 5:27Speaker 2: Mother Son nerf War. I wish that was around when
- 5:30Speaker 2: we had the Boys and Healthy Kids Day in April
- 5:36Speaker 2: and the triathlon in July and you know back and
- 5:39Speaker 2: then your annual kickoff is tomorrow night after the campaign,
- 5:43Speaker 2: and we tried, we tried to get Robert on there,
- 5:45Speaker 2: but they're at a add A meeting in Oklahoma City.
- 5:48Speaker 4: And I have to say that Robert is very busy,
- 5:51Speaker 4: Robert Phillips director of the Y, and he is a
- 5:57Speaker 4: has his hands in many different pots.
- 5:59Speaker 3: That's first. Sure, he's taking care of a lot.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Real force in town as the Why is, and for
- 6:05Speaker 2: a long time here I know it was. You know,
- 6:08Speaker 2: it's just go way back in town. And you know,
- 6:13Speaker 2: my grandfather was involved in the Why and getting it
- 6:16Speaker 2: moved to the current location. And you know, I know
- 6:19Speaker 2: there's a lot of great plans for this year. And
- 6:23Speaker 2: and the kickoff for your event, as you mentioned, is
- 6:26Speaker 2: tomorrow night. But the campaign's theme is you make more possible.
- 6:30Speaker 2: And you know, just that calendar shows what they're talking about,
- 6:34Speaker 2: all the different impacts that The Why has on our community.
- 6:38Speaker 2: It's really a great, great thing.
- 6:41Speaker 4: We also offer eight hundred and eighty families financial assistance right,
- 6:46Speaker 4: so that is a big part of why we raise
- 6:50Speaker 4: the money, is to give families who are not capable
- 6:54Speaker 4: of paying for a membership financial assistant so they can
- 6:58Speaker 4: use the hy right and.
- 7:00Speaker 2: Have access to a gym and to the childcare service
- 7:04Speaker 2: pool and every work after school stuff. Yeah, it really is. Uh.
- 7:08Speaker 2: You know, if it's if if it seems out of
- 7:10Speaker 2: reach to you to to access something like that, the Why,
- 7:15Speaker 2: I will make it possible. And uh and and and
- 7:18Speaker 2: the memberships are actually a great value anyway. Family membership
- 7:22Speaker 2: is just sixty dollars a month and it's very you know,
- 7:26Speaker 2: I go any time you want it. Wow, we access
- 7:28Speaker 2: all the programs and you know, it's a it's a
- 7:31Speaker 2: great value.
- 7:32Speaker 4: Over two thousand different workouts really workouts.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Yes, it's amazing how you can do all these things
- 7:43Speaker 1: one small place. But I know it's all over town though,
- 7:45Speaker 1: but it just it just seems like, wow, it's all there. Yeah, yeah,
- 7:49Speaker 1: it's all there.
- 7:50Speaker 2: It is, and it's happening, and it's happening. I mean
- 7:52Speaker 2: you all day long too, because you go there at
- 7:56Speaker 2: six in the morning and there'll be people in there
- 7:58Speaker 2: and the pool doing lapse and in the gym riding
- 8:01Speaker 2: the bike and and going through and lifting weights and
- 8:05Speaker 2: it goes all.
- 8:05Speaker 4: Day And in our classes that early in the morning,
- 8:09Speaker 4: I know, actually Kane does. There's a spin class in
- 8:13Speaker 4: the morning, right.
- 8:16Speaker 2: So much is going on. And the U sports programs,
- 8:20Speaker 2: I know, you know when our kids were growing up
- 8:23Speaker 2: in town that we went down there and played a
- 8:25Speaker 2: lot of basketball, and it is a great way to
- 8:27Speaker 2: get started. Both the y and the Boys and Girls
- 8:30Speaker 2: club have a lot of access to the basketball programs
- 8:33Speaker 2: and the you know that Thunder program. It sounds pretty
- 8:36Speaker 2: pretty neat the Thunder basketball program. Love that, yeah, and
- 8:41Speaker 2: then you get on into the other leagues and you know,
- 8:44Speaker 2: it's just a lot of fun and got great heritage
- 8:47Speaker 2: of basketball in Bartlesville, and it's great that the why
- 8:49Speaker 2: continues all that and keeps it going. You know, other
- 8:53Speaker 2: stuff coming up, but we're that I know you're involved
- 8:56Speaker 2: in and we are at the dealership. Is the Young
- 8:58Speaker 2: Scholars of Bartlesville has their own You're a Support event
- 9:01Speaker 2: coming up on February twenty second, and I did want
- 9:05Speaker 2: to announce that Toyota is going to match our gift
- 9:09Speaker 2: to them and sponsorship of the event like they did
- 9:13Speaker 2: with the with the last week's guest, Brendan from the
- 9:17Speaker 2: Journey Home was also at Rotary, and thank you Brennan
- 9:22Speaker 2: for bringing the presentation to Rotary. I learned even more
- 9:25Speaker 2: about Journey Home and their impact on our community, and
- 9:29Speaker 2: it really is great and really great to have Toyota's
- 9:34Speaker 2: backing on these things that impact our town. You know,
- 9:37Speaker 2: they give us the ability to get some of our
- 9:40Speaker 2: gifts matched, and you know, they really make it easy
- 9:44Speaker 2: and simple and it's a it's a great program they
- 9:47Speaker 2: have to sign you they do. They're a great partner
- 9:51Speaker 2: in our business and it's it's one of those things
- 9:53Speaker 2: I still you know, like the people who think they
- 9:56Speaker 2: have to drive to Tulsa to buy a Toyota, No
- 9:59Speaker 2: you don't. I've got to I can get anything we
- 10:01Speaker 2: want right here. Uh, you know, it is still a
- 10:04Speaker 2: dunge just family business. I've heard that in the last
- 10:06Speaker 2: few weeks too, that maybe Brad sold Toyota with the
- 10:10Speaker 2: with the Ford store. No, no, no, no. You know,
- 10:12Speaker 2: Bill's a good friend and you know we're looking forward
- 10:16Speaker 2: to working with him as our neighbor there.
- 10:18Speaker 1: But we're making new history. We're making new history.
- 10:21Speaker 2: Yeah, the billboard is real, and we're it's still a
- 10:24Speaker 2: Dungeons family enterprise. Uh, you know, third going on fourth
- 10:28Speaker 2: generation and and over ninety five years, ninety six year
- 10:32Speaker 2: now selling guards and helping people with their transportation needs
- 10:36Speaker 2: here in northern Oklahoma. And and that's something we're really
- 10:40Speaker 2: proud of and want to continue. That's a it's a
- 10:42Speaker 2: great legacy. And I know the whole team that at
- 10:45Speaker 2: Dungeas is really focused on that. That's what they you know,
- 10:48Speaker 2: we have a place that really you know, people I
- 10:51Speaker 2: hopefully people choose to work there want to work there.
- 10:53Speaker 2: It's an exciting place to work and there's always a
- 10:56Speaker 2: lot of stuff having on fun.
- 10:57Speaker 1: We do have fun.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Yeah, that's like challenge. It's a it's a small family business.
- 11:03Speaker 2: You know, I've got my brother works there and sister
- 11:07Speaker 2: in law and uncle Joe, and I talked to my
- 11:12Speaker 2: uncle Bob every day ran the store back between myself
- 11:17Speaker 2: and my grandfather. And it's you know, it's just a
- 11:20Speaker 2: great legacy and we want to continue that in Bartlesville.
- 11:23Speaker 2: And you know, that's why it's important for you to
- 11:26Speaker 2: buy locally, and it includes all the business town and
- 11:29Speaker 2: other dealers. It's really it is important that Bartlesville have
- 11:33Speaker 2: access to.
- 11:35Speaker 1: These great brands like Toyota.
- 11:36Speaker 2: And we're gund to represent the nineteen sixty eight as the.
- 11:43Speaker 3: Oldest day dealership in Oklahoma.
- 11:46Speaker 2: There go his right there, making new history every day. Yeah,
- 11:50Speaker 2: a free day I got. I had a picture. I'm
- 11:54Speaker 2: not even sure how it got to Brian Ballard, one
- 11:57Speaker 2: of our managers, that somebody sent him a picture of
- 12:00Speaker 2: the old the old Toyota dealership before it was moved
- 12:04Speaker 2: out to Highway seven and five. It was out on
- 12:07Speaker 2: out on the west side of town there and there
- 12:09Speaker 2: the Murphys, and there was a picture of the Toyota
- 12:13Speaker 2: lot in about nineteen seventy so a couple of years
- 12:16Speaker 2: in and it had these strange looking cars. And I
- 12:21Speaker 2: had not seen that photo before. If I had. I don't,
- 12:24Speaker 2: I didn't remember it, but it was. It was cool.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Even though Toyota is back then would run forever, I think.
- 12:30Speaker 2: So that's why, that's why, you know, that's one of
- 12:34Speaker 2: the reasons why Toyota is such a great vehicle. They
- 12:38Speaker 2: do make good vehicles and stand behind them, and they
- 12:41Speaker 2: maintain their resale value really well. And you know, we
- 12:45Speaker 2: see people keeping them in service. We almost every day
- 12:49Speaker 2: we get a two or three hundred thousand mile Toyota
- 12:52Speaker 2: in there and then i'ld be talking to him and
- 12:54Speaker 2: he's like, I've never had an issue. I just had
- 12:56Speaker 2: to change the oil, and yeah, it's.
- 13:02Speaker 1: Great to have that kind of reliability in those vehicles.
- 13:06Speaker 3: My mom has a Crown.
- 13:08Speaker 4: Toyota just got a new Crown, and she asked me
- 13:12Speaker 4: the other day if you sold any more of those,
- 13:14Speaker 4: and I said, oh, yes, marry many more. Seen a
- 13:18Speaker 4: lot they do well that she loves her new Crown.
- 13:21Speaker 2: Yeah. Now we have the Crownsignia coming out, which is
- 13:24Speaker 2: a small suv version of the Crown.
- 13:27Speaker 3: That's what I want, and of course.
- 13:30Speaker 2: I mean the whole full spectrum of vehicles from Toyota
- 13:33Speaker 2: and exciting stuff. Now right on the verge of the
- 13:36Speaker 2: brand new Wrap four. It's just being seen for the
- 13:41Speaker 2: first time. I saw a picture of a test vehicle
- 13:44Speaker 2: in Michigan with all kinds of wraps on it. It'll
- 13:48Speaker 2: be out later this year, maybe early next year. Before that,
- 13:54Speaker 2: we'll have the fore Runner, which we should have our
- 13:56Speaker 2: first twenty twenty five fore Runner, which is the first
- 14:00Speaker 2: complete redesign of the Forerunner in twelve years. So it's
- 14:04Speaker 2: from the ground up with a lot of the great
- 14:07Speaker 2: stuff you've seen in like the Sequoia, the Tacoma and
- 14:10Speaker 2: Tundrug they've recently been updated. This will bring that DNA
- 14:15Speaker 2: into the Forerunner, and I think it's going to be
- 14:18Speaker 2: really well received. Still, we've got our new the return
- 14:22Speaker 2: of the land Cruiser. I have a couple of those
- 14:25Speaker 2: in stock right now actually, And you know, so we've
- 14:28Speaker 2: got a bunch of choices in that mid size suv
- 14:31Speaker 2: area that are is so competitive and Forerunner, Land Cruiser.
- 14:37Speaker 2: I mentioned the Highlander and Grand Highland, which have been
- 14:40Speaker 2: pretty scarce this year. As I've talked about before on
- 14:44Speaker 2: the show. You know, Toyota had an issue with these vehicles.
- 14:48Speaker 2: They had a quality issue, a couple of different things
- 14:50Speaker 2: going on with actually with parts that were used and
- 14:53Speaker 2: they weren't working the way they were designed, and they
- 14:56Speaker 2: just stopped building the vehicles. They took them offline, they
- 14:59Speaker 2: fixed the issue. They didn't keep making them and send
- 15:02Speaker 2: them out and recall them a few years later, which
- 15:05Speaker 2: is more typical in the industry, and truthfully, it does happen.
- 15:10Speaker 2: And you know, this was a huge thing to stop
- 15:13Speaker 2: building vehicles for months. Oh yeah, but we're getting those
- 15:16Speaker 2: back now. And I've got several in the allocation, the
- 15:20Speaker 2: Grand Highlander, which is a great vehicles, a little bit
- 15:23Speaker 2: bigger than the older Highlander, and then of course we
- 15:26Speaker 2: still have the traditional Highlander. So four great choices in
- 15:31Speaker 2: that mid size suv slot.
- 15:33Speaker 1: Every fourth car on this road is.
- 15:34Speaker 3: A Highlanders what it seems.
- 15:37Speaker 2: Like it sometimes. That's that where we're at for anymore,
- 15:41Speaker 2: right up there with it very very popular, just a
- 15:44Speaker 2: little bit smaller than the Highlander, but all the same flexibility,
- 15:49Speaker 2: and it's a nice It really does perform well. It
- 15:53Speaker 2: has great fuel economy. And you know there's the hybrids
- 15:57Speaker 2: engines and the Toyotas are really popular right now. Obviously,
- 16:02Speaker 2: Toyota has been making hybrid since the nineties and with
- 16:05Speaker 2: the previous vehicle started a lot of that and as
- 16:09Speaker 2: you know, a great reliability, just a track record of
- 16:13Speaker 2: you know, no issues really with the battery system. These
- 16:17Speaker 2: are gas and battery systems that are combined. You always
- 16:22Speaker 2: have the flexibility of your gasoline engine, but she's also
- 16:27Speaker 2: got a battery that gives you that both an extended
- 16:30Speaker 2: fuel economy, better fuel economy, but also great power and
- 16:35Speaker 2: torque and performance with your engine. And you know, as
- 16:38Speaker 2: as the hybrids have evolved, you see that different in
- 16:42Speaker 2: each vehicle. The Crown your mother has or the Crown
- 16:45Speaker 2: Insignia performs really differently than the one than the hybrid
- 16:49Speaker 2: system in mice Aqualia and they and you know, they
- 16:52Speaker 2: just are tuned differently and meant to perform differently because
- 16:56Speaker 2: the Squalia is going to be towing potentially every things
- 17:01Speaker 2: than a small it's dan and you know, so they
- 17:04Speaker 2: just set them up to perform differently. And it's it's
- 17:08Speaker 2: you know, we hear people all the time who say
- 17:11Speaker 2: they want the big engine, but you can get that
- 17:14Speaker 2: same performance from a smaller engine with a turbocharge hybrid
- 17:19Speaker 2: system like Toyota makes and great great technology and cool,
- 17:24Speaker 2: really well engineered, highly really when you do have a
- 17:29Speaker 2: vehicle like that, you want to make sure you do
- 17:31Speaker 2: your maintenance on it. It's very important to keep up
- 17:34Speaker 2: on changing the oil every ten thousand miles and use
- 17:37Speaker 2: the right oil and gasoline in the vehicle because they
- 17:39Speaker 2: are engineered to find tolerance. And yeah, great great engineering
- 17:45Speaker 2: from Toyota. And another thing going on at the dealership
- 17:50Speaker 2: I wanted to mention was our brand new website has
- 17:53Speaker 2: rolled out again. We've got our it's really I think
- 17:56Speaker 2: the second remaking of the website in the last twelve months.
- 18:00Speaker 2: That means if you have to go shopping again, well.
- 18:02Speaker 1: We keep we keep trying to make it better.
- 18:05Speaker 2: We keep trying to make it better. And you know,
- 18:08Speaker 2: it is such an important tool these days. You can
- 18:11Speaker 2: go on there and get you know, obviously pictures of
- 18:14Speaker 2: the vehicles in the Carfax report on any vehicle we have.
- 18:19Speaker 2: But you can get a lot more than that. You
- 18:20Speaker 2: can get price comparisons. You can go in and actually
- 18:24Speaker 2: compare payments on a lease versus financing using your own credit.
- 18:30Speaker 2: You can do all kinds of great stuff. See how
- 18:33Speaker 2: much if you want to play with the mountain down
- 18:37Speaker 2: or understand if I extended the term of the loan
- 18:40Speaker 2: went from forty eight to sixty or seventy two months,
- 18:43Speaker 2: what would that do to the pay And a lot
- 18:45Speaker 2: of this information you used to have to come to
- 18:47Speaker 2: the Car Leadership for now right there on your finger
- 18:50Speaker 2: at your fingertips, on your phone or on your desktop computer.
- 18:54Speaker 2: It's really an easy way to buy a car and
- 18:58Speaker 2: a great tool if you're shopping and have questions about it.
- 19:02Speaker 2: We still see, you know, interest rates and payments being
- 19:06Speaker 2: an issue with consumers right now. The interest rates are
- 19:09Speaker 2: still standard about you know, maybe between five and a
- 19:13Speaker 2: half and seven percent, and you know some a few
- 19:17Speaker 2: institutions a little bit lower now. But you know, there
- 19:21Speaker 2: are some great deals like I said on leasing from
- 19:25Speaker 2: Toyota sure, and then also some incentivi ide rates you
- 19:29Speaker 2: know I mentioned with the end of the month, we've
- 19:30Speaker 2: got some great incentives on Tundra, Tacoma, Camery, Highlander, fo
- 19:38Speaker 2: interst rates right now. You can see all that on
- 19:40Speaker 2: the website at Dungeustoyota dot com and it's worth checking out.
- 19:45Speaker 2: Like I said, it's a brand new website. And anyway,
- 19:49Speaker 2: we've got a few minutes left to go talk a
- 19:51Speaker 2: little bit more about the YMCA and all the stuff
- 19:54Speaker 2: going on there.
- 19:55Speaker 4: Yes, well I wanted to also mention the young scholars.
- 19:59Speaker 3: Yeah, event we just touched on it earlier.
- 20:03Speaker 4: And I just recently got a young scholar myself through
- 20:06Speaker 4: the Big Brothers and Big Sisters programs since I we're
- 20:10Speaker 4: now empty nesters, so I needed something and my dog
- 20:14Speaker 4: passed away, and so I found a nice young lady.
- 20:19Speaker 4: She's seventh grader at Central and she's a young scholar
- 20:24Speaker 4: and now my.
- 20:25Speaker 3: Little sisters, So I'm very excited about this.
- 20:28Speaker 2: Is what that program's really all about, is connecting people
- 20:31Speaker 2: that help mentor young people who want to go on
- 20:36Speaker 2: to college. There's great support for them through that process
- 20:39Speaker 2: all the way from the seventh grade through high school
- 20:42Speaker 2: on to their college careers, and it helps them get scholarships,
- 20:47Speaker 2: help them arrange and prepare, you know, for that for
- 20:51Speaker 2: the rest of their lives. Ytley, And it's something you
- 20:54Speaker 2: know were passionate about, you know, growing up in Oklahoma
- 20:58Speaker 2: and going on to college all that. My parents invested
- 21:01Speaker 2: a lot in enemy to be able to be successful,
- 21:06Speaker 2: and it's so important that we get all our children
- 21:09Speaker 2: off to a good start. Young scholars is a way
- 21:12Speaker 2: that we do that. In Borrows so that really reaches
- 21:15Speaker 2: to those people early and helps them all the way through.
- 21:18Speaker 1: It teaches them the possible exactly.
- 21:21Speaker 3: And there are many people.
- 21:23Speaker 4: I didn't realize how many, but we had a dinner
- 21:26Speaker 4: recently last week, and there are about forty different people
- 21:32Speaker 4: that are doing the same thing that I'm doing and
- 21:35Speaker 4: mentoring it, and even more that are doing just big
- 21:38Speaker 4: brothers and big sisters. Yeah, very very very valuable program.
- 21:44Speaker 2: We'll have them on here soon and get Dianna from
- 21:47Speaker 2: the Young Scholars to come talk about the program before
- 21:50Speaker 2: the event living up in February. Yeah, she's really great.
- 21:55Speaker 2: And then also we've got the Carnegie Hall link up
- 21:59Speaker 2: coming up here pretty soon, which is one of those
- 22:03Speaker 2: things like what you guys do at the Why with
- 22:05Speaker 2: the third graders. This is the Barsville Symphony Orchestra. They
- 22:10Speaker 2: bring in all the fifth graders to the community Center
- 22:14Speaker 2: and from all over the region, from Southeast Kansas, anywhere
- 22:17Speaker 2: you want to come from, and they'll they help with
- 22:20Speaker 2: transportation if necessary, and we do. We give them a
- 22:23Speaker 2: sponsorship to help with the transportation. But what's so neat
- 22:26Speaker 2: about it is they practice with their i think their kazoos,
- 22:32Speaker 2: little uh order or something for months, several months working
- 22:38Speaker 2: on this song and then they all come together and
- 22:41Speaker 2: into the Community Center and play along with the orchestra.
- 22:45Speaker 2: And it's a real introduction of fifth graders to orchestra
- 22:49Speaker 2: music and the community center and and it's such a neat,
- 22:53Speaker 2: neat deal.
- 22:54Speaker 1: And not every kid's going to play with an orchestra,
- 22:57Speaker 1: but an here.
- 23:00Speaker 2: That's all.
- 23:01Speaker 3: Thank God for that community Center, yes.
- 23:03Speaker 2: Right, and Lauren and his passion for all the orchestra
- 23:08Speaker 2: and what they do out there, And thank you Lauren.
- 23:11Speaker 2: He was on just a few weeks ago to promote that.
- 23:14Speaker 2: So lots of good stuff going on there. And then
- 23:17Speaker 2: we've got right now tomorrow night the YMCA annual campaign kickoff,
- 23:22Speaker 2: and I.
- 23:24Speaker 4: Wanted to mention it is not going to be in
- 23:26Speaker 4: the gymnasy, but it will be upstairs in that big
- 23:30Speaker 4: workout room on stairs. So if you decide to come,
- 23:35Speaker 4: just come up, come upstairs.
- 23:37Speaker 3: Somebody will tell.
- 23:38Speaker 2: You you can learn a lot because I know they're
- 23:40Speaker 2: going to have all the program directors there and a
- 23:43Speaker 2: chance to hear about the impact of them. Last year
- 23:46Speaker 2: and as you mentioned, it touched thousands of lives here
- 23:49Speaker 2: in Bartlesville, and all the different programs they have on
- 23:52Speaker 2: and anyway, it's great opportunity to learn more. And then
- 23:56Speaker 2: there's all kinds of other events going on up there
- 24:00Speaker 2: and all that can be explored at your website at
- 24:04Speaker 2: Richard Just search for Richard Kine y m c A
- 24:07Speaker 2: and right, pretty easy. But they've got a calendar up
- 24:11Speaker 2: there and information on all the programs. If you're interested in,
- 24:15Speaker 2: you know, exploring opportunities for basketball or any of the programs,
- 24:19Speaker 2: you should check it out. Wow, worth your time.
- 24:23Speaker 4: And then every time I go to board meeting, the
- 24:26Speaker 4: people playing pickleball in the club, the big big pickoball
- 24:31Speaker 4: in the gymnasiums is just for basketball.
- 24:35Speaker 2: Bet in the winter, that's true for sure, and it's
- 24:38Speaker 2: the place.
- 24:39Speaker 4: Popular for pickleball, and we have in the summertime in
- 24:43Speaker 4: the spring. The tennis courts, the outdoor tennis courts are
- 24:46Speaker 4: always used for the high school when we.
- 24:50Speaker 3: Have meets here, they have to use they know that at.
- 24:53Speaker 4: The high school, the tennis courts at the country club,
- 24:56Speaker 4: and then the tennis courts at the y m c A.
- 24:59Speaker 3: Also you wow, so that's important too.
- 25:02Speaker 2: I know another thing you're involved in in town is
- 25:05Speaker 2: as a yoga teacher.
- 25:07Speaker 3: Yes, I teach.
- 25:08Speaker 4: Yoga at Bliss Yoga Studio. It's on Second Street between
- 25:13Speaker 4: Moxie and Tate Boys. We have many different yoga classes.
- 25:19Speaker 4: You can go on Facebook or go online to Bliss Yoga.
- 25:24Speaker 4: We have ofrigential yoga and just regular yoga. So I've
- 25:29Speaker 4: been a teacher for ten years in Bartlesville, got my
- 25:34Speaker 4: two hundred hour yoga teacher training in twenty fourteen, and
- 25:37Speaker 4: then have done three hundred hours more so I have
- 25:41Speaker 4: five hundred hours yoga teacher training.
- 25:44Speaker 3: So it's very.
- 25:45Speaker 4: I'm very passionate about that, and I am very impressed
- 25:51Speaker 4: with SHAWNA. Phil She is the one that started the studio.
- 25:56Speaker 4: It's upstairs olding on Second Street, the beautiful space. So
- 26:05Speaker 4: if you're interested in trying some yoga, please just go
- 26:09Speaker 4: online and look at the classes that we offer.
- 26:13Speaker 2: Awesome. Well, we've learned a lot today. I know that
- 26:16Speaker 2: there's always a lot of stuff going on in Bartlesville,
- 26:19Speaker 2: and you know, we're all about this fog this morning.
- 26:23Speaker 2: It's hopefully going to lift here soon and we'll get
- 26:26Speaker 2: the storms out. I know it's going to be a
- 26:28Speaker 2: beautiful weekend and it's supposed to be supposed to be
- 26:31Speaker 2: like on Sunday.
- 26:33Speaker 1: What we have to go.
- 26:35Speaker 2: I was thinking of going out to the to the
- 26:37Speaker 2: lake and riding.
- 26:39Speaker 4: We we like to go to the lake and I
- 26:41Speaker 4: paddleboard and Brad rides his bike.
- 26:43Speaker 1: Got lakes, My goodness. Seventy and February this play out
- 26:48Speaker 1: of weather.
- 26:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't get a chance the mountain bike much
- 26:50Speaker 2: in February. Home. It sounds like maybe it could be
- 26:54Speaker 2: a good plan. Try that trail on the other side
- 26:58Speaker 2: of the lake.
- 26:59Speaker 3: Yeah, sound good.
- 27:01Speaker 2: Anyway, if you want to check out anything we're talking about,
