- 0:35SPEAKER_05: Episode 280.
- 0:37SPEAKER_05: Oh, by the way, uh, I'm O'Brien.
- 0:39SPEAKER_05: I'm Doug.
- 0:39SPEAKER_05: Welcome to the O'Brien and Doug Podcast.
- 0:42SPEAKER_05: Episode 287 is uh where we're at right now.
- 0:46SPEAKER_05: Um and you uh so you showed up today.
- 0:50SPEAKER_05: And did you notice anything different?
- 0:52SPEAKER_05: What was the first thing you noticed when you showed up here at the house?
- 0:54SPEAKER_06: Uh the piano on your patio.
- 0:57SPEAKER_06: I was like, hey, that's not they're supposed to be there.
- 0:59SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:00SPEAKER_05: We've been talking about um getting rid of that thing or or getting it out of the living room.
- 1:07SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:07SPEAKER_05: Because for the longest time well, actually, since we've lived here, we haven't it hasn't always been where it was, which is on the on the one on the one wall, but it's been there a long time.
- 1:17SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:17SPEAKER_05: Um and we put we put our our uh flat screen TV on top of it, right?
- 1:23SPEAKER_05: And cobwebs and junk and everything behind it, and I mean it's just you know, and it took up a lot of room in the living room.
- 1:31SPEAKER_05: And so I said one day, I said, you know what has to go is that piano, because nobody plays it anymore.
- 1:37SPEAKER_05: Um and you cannot give those things away.
- 1:41SPEAKER_05: No.
- 1:42SPEAKER_05: Uh I see them on Facebook all the time.
- 1:43SPEAKER_05: Free piano, you gotta come get it, but it's free.
- 1:46SPEAKER_05: You know.
- 1:47SPEAKER_05: Check back in six months, still there, still there, still free.
- 1:50SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 1:50SPEAKER_05: And and ours is a beast.
- 1:53SPEAKER_05: Yeah, it's it's it's and you notice.
- 1:55SPEAKER_06: I remember I remember bringing it in.
- 1:56SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:57SPEAKER_05: So I know.
- 1:59SPEAKER_05: Well, I I didn't want to bring it out the way we brought it in.
- 2:03SPEAKER_05: So I took it apart.
- 2:04SPEAKER_05: I started gutting it.
- 2:05SPEAKER_06: You know, I I just Well, I seem to remember it was a straight shot the first time we brought it in.
- 2:10SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 2:10SPEAKER_06: That was before the addition.
- 2:12SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 2:12SPEAKER_06: So it was more of like open the door, go straight in, take a left.
- 2:16SPEAKER_06: There it was.
- 2:17SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 2:18SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 2:18SPEAKER_05: So I it wasn't gonna happen that way this time.
- 2:20SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 2:21SPEAKER_05: So I started uh I guess it was yesterday.
- 2:23SPEAKER_05: Today's Tuesday, but yeah, so it was yesterday.
- 2:26SPEAKER_05: Um and I just started I it took me most of the day just with a I had a um impactor screwdriver and and was finding all these screws and just taking them off.
- 2:39SPEAKER_05: Yep, this part comes off, this part comes off, this part, you know, and took out the pedal, the thing that adjusts the pedals and and took out the guts.
- 2:47SPEAKER_05: The guts are over there um with the with the stairs.
- 2:50SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 2:51SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 2:51SPEAKER_06: Yep.
- 2:52SPEAKER_05: And uh the only thing that's really standing is the is the body of the piano and the cast iron um where the strings are.
- 3:00SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 3:01SPEAKER_05: And so the the plan is to take a sledgehammer to it and and separate that cast iron and I don't know, do something with that.
- 3:09SPEAKER_06: I don't know whether we Well, I I definitely would because somebody could use it.
- 3:13SPEAKER_05: Somebody could melt it down.
- 3:14SPEAKER_05: Absolutely.
- 3:15SPEAKER_06: Reuse it?
- 3:15SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
- 3:16SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 3:16SPEAKER_06: So um I mean it's well over a hundred years old.
- 3:19SPEAKER_05: So I mean it's yeah, that that piano itself was what what was the year?
- 3:23SPEAKER_06: Well, I was looking at the I don't know what it was, but it was I was looking at the patent dates.
- 3:28SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 3:28SPEAKER_06: And it was going back, you know, nineteen oh eight, eighteen eighty-nine, and eighteen eighty-eight, and I was like, oh, okay.
- 3:34SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 3:34SPEAKER_06: Then I looked at this little it was torn off, but it was like it looked like a you know a manufactured sticker.
- 3:41SPEAKER_06: Yep.
- 3:42SPEAKER_06: And it said February 1911.
- 3:45SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 3:46SPEAKER_05: I looked up the seri-there's a serial number too, and I looked it up online.
- 3:49SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 3:49SPEAKER_05: And it was made between 1910 and 1915 or something.
- 3:54SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 3:54SPEAKER_05: So 1911 makes sense.
- 3:55SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 3:55SPEAKER_06: Makes sense.
- 3:55SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 3:56SPEAKER_05: Uh it's Ivers in Pond, which is a was a firm.
- 3:59SPEAKER_05: I don't know if they're still there, but uh in Boston.
- 4:00SPEAKER_05: Out of Boston.
- 4:01SPEAKER_05: In Boston.
- 4:02SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 4:02SPEAKER_05: But it was made for Holton.
- 4:04SPEAKER_05: It says it was made for Holton, Maine.
- 4:07SPEAKER_05: In in Boston.
- 4:08SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 4:09SPEAKER_05: That was kind of neat.
- 4:10SPEAKER_05: Um, but it was a gift to us from uh one of my wife's friends um almost 30 years ago.
- 4:15SPEAKER_06: It would be interesting to see the the progression how it, you know, from Boston to Holton to how she got it, and then how you know because we know how you got it, but you know.
- 4:23SPEAKER_06: Um kind of interesting.
- 4:25SPEAKER_05: And so we're we're we're gonna take a sledgehammer to it and we'll we'll rip it apart.
- 4:29SPEAKER_05: And but uh you saw the living room, so I mean it opens up the living room quite a bit.
- 4:34SPEAKER_05: Oh yeah.
- 4:34SPEAKER_05: Um we've got our TV now on the wall.
- 4:37SPEAKER_05: Um Yeah, both of them.
- 4:38SPEAKER_05: Both of them.
- 4:39SPEAKER_05: Yeah, well that's a long story too.
- 4:42SPEAKER_05: But uh eventually we'll uh uh like like Black Friday or something, we'll replace that big one.
- 4:47SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 4:47SPEAKER_05: You know, with something that actually works.
- 4:49SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 4:50SPEAKER_05: Um we'll figure that out as it comes.
- 4:52SPEAKER_05: But um, yeah, so that was that took me all day yesterday.
- 4:56SPEAKER_05: Uh Finn helped me put the the uh mount on the on the wall.
- 4:59SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 5:00SPEAKER_05: Um one of the things, you know, Finn Finn was when he was putting the he's typical, your typical guy.
- 5:07SPEAKER_05: You know, that and that Well this is right up his alley.
- 5:10SPEAKER_05: It is, but you know, it's like he's like conf he's confused about why something won't fit on the back of the TV.
- 5:17SPEAKER_05: And I said, Well, did you read the instruction?
- 5:18SPEAKER_05: No, I don't read the instructions.
- 5:20SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 5:20SPEAKER_05: Okay, well, right here in the instructions it also says don't use an impactor.
- 5:24SPEAKER_05: Well, I don't pay attention to that.
- 5:26SPEAKER_05: So he uses he's using an impactor.
- 5:28SPEAKER_05: Anyway, so when it comes time to put the the uh mount on the on the wall into like a stud, he's got because the that thing is held on by these really thick screws and big screws.
- 5:41SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 5:41SPEAKER_05: And I said, Well, did you uh did you uh put a like a like a take a small drill bit and find the stud first?
- 5:49SPEAKER_05: He said, No.
- 5:51SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 5:52SPEAKER_05: So he took the giant screw and went in and missed the stud.
- 5:56SPEAKER_05: Of course.
- 5:57SPEAKER_05: Luckily the stud was right next to it, so there's a another hole you know, right next to it, but which wasn't necessary.
- 6:04SPEAKER_05: But anyway, uh it's done, and uh I'm happy we got a new rug and everything, and yeah.
- 6:10SPEAKER_05: So it's a nice rug.
- 6:11SPEAKER_05: Yeah, it's good.
- 6:12SPEAKER_05: So I actually accomplished something that I said I was gonna do, which was which is nice.
- 6:16SPEAKER_05: The other thing I was hoping to do this week is uh clean a bit of the basement.
- 6:21SPEAKER_05: And I did a little bit of that today.
- 6:23SPEAKER_05: Um not a lot, but I really would like a roll off, but my wife won't allow it at this point.
- 6:30SPEAKER_05: Nah.
- 6:30SPEAKER_05: So that's do what you can do.
- 6:33SPEAKER_05: That's my life.
- 6:34SPEAKER_05: There you go.
- 6:34SPEAKER_05: Right now.
- 6:35SPEAKER_05: But I'm happy to be on vacation.
- 6:36SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 6:37SPEAKER_06: What are you doing with yourself on Well, I was cleaning out the garage today and I got radicalized by listening to Bad Religion.
- 6:47SPEAKER_05: So Well, I haven't listened to Bad Religion in a long time.
- 6:51SPEAKER_06: I had neither.
- 6:52SPEAKER_06: So I I just they happened to come on.
- 6:53SPEAKER_06: I was like, man, I forgot how much I like bad religion.
- 6:55SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 6:56SPEAKER_06: So I uh, you know, I kept I I hit the channel and I just kept going and going.
- 6:59SPEAKER_06: I was like, because you can listen to like ten bad religion songs and the time it takes you to listen to one Rush song.
- 7:06SPEAKER_06: So, you know, it works out well.
- 7:08SPEAKER_06: Yeah, you know, you know the song ratio there.
- 7:10SPEAKER_06: For sure.
- 7:10SPEAKER_06: So yeah, it was fun.
- 7:11SPEAKER_05: So nice.
- 7:13SPEAKER_05: Um speaking of garages, I've d you're looking at this headline I just uh I just pulled up.
- 7:18SPEAKER_05: I know we're gonna do some other things here, but uh while while we're talking about garages, how how was that?
- 7:23SPEAKER_05: Did you find anything cool?
- 7:25SPEAKER_05: No.
- 7:25SPEAKER_05: No just dirt.
- 7:26SPEAKER_05: Just dirt.
- 7:27SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 7:27SPEAKER_05: You were just arranging the garage.
- 7:28SPEAKER_06: Well, no, I was just sweeping the garage out because you were th you were cleaning it.
- 7:32SPEAKER_06: Well, yeah, you clean the dirt off the floor.
- 7:34SPEAKER_05: Oh.
- 7:35SPEAKER_05: You know, you sweep it out the the doors, you know.
- 7:37SPEAKER_06: Because you know, all that track it in all winter and you know.
- 7:41SPEAKER_05: All right.
- 7:41SPEAKER_05: Uh ultimate classic rock.com has a link called 24 things you'd find in almost every 1980s family garage.
- 7:48SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 7:49SPEAKER_05: Now, when I was a kid, we had a garage over on Elizabeth Street.
- 7:54SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 7:55SPEAKER_05: Uh other than that, I don't know, that's not true.
- 7:58SPEAKER_05: Marcel, we had a garage.
- 7:59SPEAKER_05: You had a garage in Marcel.
- 7:59SPEAKER_05: Yeah, we did have a garage, Marcel.
- 8:01SPEAKER_05: I just have never had a garage one ha since I got married.
- 8:04SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 8:04SPEAKER_05: We've never had a garage as a as a couple, which is I'd like to fix.
- 8:09SPEAKER_05: Anyway.
- 8:09SPEAKER_05: Uh you didn't have one on Mechanic Street?
- 8:12SPEAKER_05: No.
- 8:12SPEAKER_05: Oh, that's right.
- 8:12SPEAKER_05: You didn't.
- 8:13SPEAKER_05: It was a shed.
- 8:13SPEAKER_05: Yeah, that's right.
- 8:14SPEAKER_06: It was a shed.
- 8:15SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 8:16SPEAKER_05: Um we have designs on building a garage, but we're also 52, and you know, we've lived here 25 years, and obviously this is going to be the house we die in, probably.
- 8:27SPEAKER_06: That's that's a nice thought.
- 8:29SPEAKER_05: Isn't it?
- 8:29SPEAKER_05: Right?
- 8:30SPEAKER_06: I mean it's our tomb.
- 8:34SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 8:35SPEAKER_05: Well, not that I want I it's not our dream house by any stretch.
- 8:39SPEAKER_05: You know.
- 8:40SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 8:41SPEAKER_06: Some people build big mausoleums.
- 8:43SPEAKER_06: We have a ranch style house.
- 8:46SPEAKER_05: Right?
- 8:47SPEAKER_05: I mean, anyway, I just don't see us affording another house.
- 8:51SPEAKER_05: Okay, so what's something that you would expect in a 1980s family garage?
- 8:56SPEAKER_06: Uh a Dotson.
- 8:58SPEAKER_05: A Dotson?
- 8:59SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 9:00SPEAKER_05: Just like a just a an 80s car.
- 9:02SPEAKER_06: Yeah, something like a Pinto or a you know, something like that.
- 9:06SPEAKER_06: One of those, you know, you know, I you know a Yugo, maybe.
- 9:10SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 9:11SPEAKER_05: Remember Hugos?
- 9:12SPEAKER_05: I do remember Yugos.
- 9:14SPEAKER_05: Um let's see.
- 9:17SPEAKER_05: 80s garage where everything else ended up.
- 9:20SPEAKER_05: Um this was the but wait, there's more era, it didn't fit in the attic, or it was banished by mom from the living room, it ended up in the garage.
- 9:26SPEAKER_05: Before Mankave entered the vocabulary, the 80s garage existed in a weird limbo between the chaos of the 70s and the tech revolution of the 90s.
- 9:34SPEAKER_05: VCRs, microwaves, and Ataris made their way into the home, but the garage remained a world unto itself.
- 9:40SPEAKER_05: Where is oh, the legendary 80s beer fridge.
- 9:43SPEAKER_06: Oh yeah.
- 9:44SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 9:44SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 9:44SPEAKER_05: I had a little little fridge in the garage with the swimsuit model poster.
- 9:50SPEAKER_05: Oh, heck yeah.
- 9:51SPEAKER_05: Of course.
- 9:52SPEAKER_05: Uh let's see.
- 9:53SPEAKER_05: Is this is that it?
- 9:55SPEAKER_05: Oh no, right.
- 9:58SPEAKER_05: This is arranged a little differently here.
- 10:01SPEAKER_05: Um Pocket Fisherman.
- 10:03SPEAKER_05: A pocket fisherman spin.
- 10:04SPEAKER_05: Never had one.
- 10:05SPEAKER_05: A Pope Popeel Pocket Fisherman.
- 10:07SPEAKER_05: Ron Popeel.
- 10:07SPEAKER_05: Remember Ron Popeel?
- 10:08SPEAKER_05: As seen on TV.
- 10:09SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 10:10SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I never had one of those either.
- 10:11SPEAKER_05: Lock chest freezer.
- 10:13SPEAKER_06: No, we we had that under the stairs.
- 10:15SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 10:16SPEAKER_06: In the house.
- 10:17SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 10:17SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 10:17SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 10:17SPEAKER_05: A lot of people keep them in the garage.
- 10:19SPEAKER_05: I mean, if we had a garage, we'd probably have it have one in there.
- 10:22SPEAKER_05: We've got two down here in the basement right now.
- 10:24SPEAKER_05: Uh the that weird folding bike that nobody rode or understood.
- 10:28SPEAKER_06: Folding bike?
- 10:29SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 10:29SPEAKER_06: You remember those folding bikes?
- 10:31SPEAKER_06: No.
- 10:31SPEAKER_06: No.
- 10:32SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 10:32SPEAKER_06: I remember regular bikes.
- 10:34SPEAKER_05: Yeah, my yeah, our garage was full of regular bikes.
- 10:36SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 10:37SPEAKER_05: But that was a folding bike.
- 10:39SPEAKER_05: Even more bikes.
- 10:40SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 10:40SPEAKER_05: Bike, bike, bike, bike, bike.
- 10:41SPEAKER_05: Bike, bike, bike, bike, bike, bike, bike.
- 10:43SPEAKER_05: Coffee cans, uh, a giant Maxwell House coffee can filled with rusty bolts and stuff.
- 10:46SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 10:47SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 10:47SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 10:48SPEAKER_05: I have that here in the basement, actually.
- 10:50SPEAKER_05: The noisiest pogo stick in history.
- 10:52SPEAKER_05: Nope.
- 10:52SPEAKER_05: Never had a pogo stick.
- 10:53SPEAKER_05: Never had that either.
- 10:54SPEAKER_05: No.
- 10:54SPEAKER_05: That weird bikini lady calendar hardware advertisement.
- 10:59SPEAKER_05: I was a kid, so I don't know.
- 11:00SPEAKER_05: I don't know.
- 11:01SPEAKER_05: And I didn't have a father in the house, so.
- 11:04SPEAKER_05: Um an old transistor radio with a handle.
- 11:08SPEAKER_05: Yeah, we probably I probably had probably had a radio in there.
- 11:12SPEAKER_06: We never had a garage, so I mean it was just like a dead electric lawnmower.
- 11:18SPEAKER_06: Why would you have an electric lawnmower?
- 11:21SPEAKER_05: Those things never caught on, did they?
- 11:23SPEAKER_05: No, because they're stupid.
- 11:24SPEAKER_05: Oh, I got I just got a text from my son who's in Portland.
- 11:27SPEAKER_05: Oh.
- 11:28SPEAKER_05: Um, this is funny.
- 11:30SPEAKER_05: Oh, he bought some hats.
- 11:34SPEAKER_05: He's he texted me, he says, uh, I'm a guitar center.
- 11:39SPEAKER_05: I said, I'm jealous.
- 11:41SPEAKER_06: Which which son are we talking about?
- 11:43SPEAKER_06: Eli.
- 11:43SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 11:44SPEAKER_05: He said, What guitars?
- 11:46SPEAKER_05: I said, Are you just taking pics?
- 11:48SPEAKER_05: And I said, Any Paul Reed Smith, Gibson Rampo Phone 335, EVH, or Ernie Ball Music Man, anything you think is cool.
- 11:55SPEAKER_05: He goes, I got some hats.
- 11:57SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 11:58SPEAKER_05: So he sends me six photos with guitars.
- 12:02SPEAKER_05: I says, He knows what I like.
- 12:03SPEAKER_05: Oh yeah.
- 12:03SPEAKER_05: You know, EVH stuff.
- 12:04SPEAKER_05: Sure.
- 12:05SPEAKER_05: But then he just sent me the photo of the hats that he bought.
- 12:08SPEAKER_05: He's got a Gibson hat and a fender hat.
- 12:12SPEAKER_05: He's he's he's recently uh kind of taken uh learning guitar seriously.
- 12:17SPEAKER_06: Has he now?
- 12:17SPEAKER_05: Yeah, he has, which is it's uh uh it's you know music to my ears.
- 12:21SPEAKER_06: I thought he was wearing the hats ironically.
- 12:23SPEAKER_05: No.
- 12:23SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 12:24SPEAKER_05: No, he uh he actually is uh I cause this is his guitar right here.
- 12:29SPEAKER_05: This is this Ibanez.
- 12:30SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 12:31SPEAKER_05: He comes down here and um uh and just kind of whittles away.
- 12:36SPEAKER_05: He's doing good going between chords, you know, he's learning his his basic chords, he's gonna doing well going between those.
- 12:43SPEAKER_05: Uh he was learn he was playing Radiohead's creep the other day.
- 12:46SPEAKER_05: Oh, okay.
- 12:46SPEAKER_06: Uh seems very popular.
- 12:48SPEAKER_05: It does.
- 12:49SPEAKER_05: Um so you know, I it's pretty cool.
- 12:52SPEAKER_05: It's pretty cool that he's taken seriously.
- 12:53SPEAKER_05: And I'm I'm I've been told by a couple of my older children.
- 12:59SPEAKER_05: I only have two older children, but uh that I am uh actually when it comes to uh learning the guitar or learning piano or whatever, um I am what did what did Jude say?
- 13:12SPEAKER_05: He said that I was um They were they were very self-conscious around me.
- 13:24SPEAKER_06: I get that.
- 13:25SPEAKER_05: Um so it was th they they didn't want to um they well they or they felt, you know, kind of pressured to be you know I don't know why, because I never pressured them.
- 13:37SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 13:37SPEAKER_06: Um But it's a but it's it's like it's like you know, anything it's a comparison too.
- 13:43SPEAKER_05: Yeah, this is your thing, and I'm not good at it.
- 13:45SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 13:45SPEAKER_05: And that and so with Eli, I've just been you know, he'd be like, how do you Yeah, but Eli my my feeling with Eli is that he doesn't care either way.
- 13:56SPEAKER_06: He doesn't.
- 13:56SPEAKER_06: I mean he does, but he doesn't.
- 13:58SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I think he really wants to learn uh certain songs, you know, and he'll he'll be like, Can you figure that out and show it to me?
- 14:05SPEAKER_05: And I will I will do it.
- 14:07SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 14:07SPEAKER_05: Um but he'd be like, How do I do this?
- 14:11SPEAKER_05: And I'll say, Give me the guitar and I'll show him and you try this, try doing it this way, and then I give it back to him, and that's it.
- 14:17SPEAKER_05: I walk away.
- 14:18SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 14:18SPEAKER_05: You know, and then he'll show me like he showed me creep, and I said, That sounds pretty good.
- 14:23SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I mean you're you're going in between chords really, really well.
- 14:27SPEAKER_05: Um that's all it takes, man.
- 14:28SPEAKER_05: It's just sitting down and doing it.
- 14:29SPEAKER_05: There you go.
- 14:30SPEAKER_05: And then I walk away.
- 14:31SPEAKER_06: There you go.
- 14:31SPEAKER_05: Okay, and I'm just trying to kind of stay.
- 14:33SPEAKER_05: Hands off, guys.
- 14:34SPEAKER_05: Hands off as much as possible.
- 14:35SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 14:36SPEAKER_05: Because I want him to enjoy it.
- 14:37SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 14:38SPEAKER_05: You know, and he is.
- 14:39SPEAKER_05: And so that was the whole I'm a guitar center.
- 14:42SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 14:43SPEAKER_06: Oh wow.
- 14:46SPEAKER_05: So many flammable things in the 80s grass.
- 14:49SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 14:49SPEAKER_05: These paint cans.
- 14:51SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 14:52SPEAKER_06: So many.
- 14:53SPEAKER_05: So uh your dad's project excuse me, project car?
- 14:56SPEAKER_06: No, that was dad's uh he had uh a Triumph motorcycle.
- 15:01SPEAKER_06: Oh, I remember the Triumph.
- 15:01SPEAKER_06: Remember the Triumph?
- 15:02SPEAKER_05: Yes, I do, yes.
- 15:03SPEAKER_06: And his and his Harley.
- 15:05SPEAKER_06: So he had a Harley?
- 15:07SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 15:07SPEAKER_06: Oh, I didn't know he had a Harley.
- 15:08SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 15:08SPEAKER_06: Remember the Triumph.
- 15:09SPEAKER_06: No, he got the Harley like years later.
- 15:11SPEAKER_06: Oh, okay.
- 15:12SPEAKER_06: But it sat in the garage forever.
- 15:13SPEAKER_06: He never wrote it.
- 15:14SPEAKER_06: Did he sell it?
- 15:14SPEAKER_06: Oh, yeah.
- 15:15SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah.
- 15:15SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 15:16SPEAKER_06: He never wrote it.
- 15:16SPEAKER_06: So he was like, I thought somebody can ride it.
- 15:19SPEAKER_05: A pegboard full of rusty tools.
- 15:21SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 15:21SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 15:22SPEAKER_05: That sounds about that sounds about right.
- 15:24SPEAKER_05: A big wheel.
- 15:25SPEAKER_05: Yes, I remember having a big wheel.
- 15:27SPEAKER_05: We had a big wheel.
- 15:28SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 15:28SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 15:29SPEAKER_05: Folding card table and lawn chair.
- 15:33SPEAKER_06: Those were more well the lawn the lawn chair would be outside, but the we had folding tables inside.
- 15:40SPEAKER_06: That's what we used to mom and dad used to play cards on.
- 15:43SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 15:43SPEAKER_06: They'd set it up in the living room and everybody they'd come and if people were coming over to play cards, they'd set up in the living room.
- 15:50SPEAKER_05: Ours, ours would be in the basement.
- 15:52SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 15:52SPEAKER_05: We wouldn't too.
- 15:53SPEAKER_06: We wouldn't keep it in the well, we couldn't for years in the basement because it was just piles of dirt.
- 15:58SPEAKER_05: Yes, I remember.
- 16:00SPEAKER_05: We did some some stuff down there.
- 16:03SPEAKER_05: Yes, we did.
- 16:04SPEAKER_05: Um a pile of wood in random sizes.
- 16:08SPEAKER_06: Well, when we had the wood stove, that was all that was all in the basement.
- 16:11SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 16:11SPEAKER_05: So uh random dumbbells no.
- 16:15SPEAKER_05: Oh, you you you have myriads.
- 16:16SPEAKER_05: I have, yes.
- 16:17SPEAKER_05: A box of someone's vinyl records.
- 16:19SPEAKER_05: No, those are always in the house.
- 16:20SPEAKER_05: Yeah, always in the house.
- 16:21SPEAKER_05: I remember that too.
- 16:23SPEAKER_05: Uh radio flyer wagon with the side panels.
- 16:25SPEAKER_05: We didn't have the side panels.
- 16:26SPEAKER_06: Well, I didn't have the side panels, but I had a f I had a wagon.
- 16:28SPEAKER_06: I don't remember if it was radio flyer.
- 16:30SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 16:30SPEAKER_05: Lawn darts?
- 16:31SPEAKER_06: Never had lawn darts.
- 16:33SPEAKER_06: We had horseshoes.
- 16:34SPEAKER_06: Well, lawn darts always seemed to be.
- 16:35SPEAKER_06: Which are way more dangerous.
- 16:36SPEAKER_05: Well, I thought lawn darts always seemed very dangerous to me.
- 16:38SPEAKER_06: Well, they are, but I mean, they're more like I mean, horseshoes are more dangerous just in general.
- 16:46SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 16:46SPEAKER_06: You know what I mean?
- 16:47SPEAKER_06: I mean, lawn darts are basically plastic.
- 16:49SPEAKER_06: They're not a danger until you throw them up in the air and they land, you know, go through somebody's skull.
- 16:55SPEAKER_06: You know, horseshoes are just dangerous.
- 16:57SPEAKER_06: I mean, you can just hold a horseshoe and hit somebody with it, and it's I mean, that's solid metal, man.
- 17:02SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 17:03SPEAKER_06: It's like yeah, brass knuckles or something.
- 17:04SPEAKER_06: Yeah, exactly.
- 17:05SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah.
- 17:05SPEAKER_06: You know?
- 17:06SPEAKER_06: Hey, no good luck for you.
- 17:09SPEAKER_05: You know what I mean?
- 17:10SPEAKER_05: So boxes of old paneling and cinder blocks.
- 17:14SPEAKER_06: Cinder blocks, yes.
- 17:16SPEAKER_06: Paneling.
- 17:17SPEAKER_05: No, that would probably be one pitchfork.
- 17:21SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 17:21SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 17:22SPEAKER_06: Yeah, that's pretty good.
- 17:23SPEAKER_05: Uh regular darts and a dartboard?
- 17:24SPEAKER_05: No.
- 17:25SPEAKER_05: No.
- 17:25SPEAKER_05: Never had a dartboard.
- 17:26SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 17:26SPEAKER_05: No.
- 17:26SPEAKER_05: Uh metal watering cans and metal gas cans.
- 17:30SPEAKER_06: Yes to both, yes.
- 17:31SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 17:32SPEAKER_05: Um chrome door handle with push latch, push button latch.
- 17:37SPEAKER_06: No, that was always attached to the vehicle that was out in the woods.
- 17:40SPEAKER_06: Oh, wait, this is different.
- 17:41SPEAKER_06: Uh is that a different thing?
- 17:42SPEAKER_05: No, I don't know.
- 17:43SPEAKER_05: I can't tell.
- 17:44SPEAKER_05: This is weird.
- 17:45SPEAKER_05: Yeah, because now they're moving on to a faux wood.
- 17:46SPEAKER_05: Why were you talking about cars all of a sudden?
- 17:48SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 17:49SPEAKER_05: Faux wooden trim, an actual set of keys.
- 17:51SPEAKER_05: Yeah, this post is all over the place.
- 17:53SPEAKER_05: This is a weird post.
- 17:54SPEAKER_05: It is.
- 17:55SPEAKER_05: So I'm gonna.
- 17:56SPEAKER_05: That's enough.
- 17:56SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 17:57SPEAKER_05: That's enough, Ultimate Classic Rock.
- 17:58SPEAKER_05: You got us confused.
- 17:59SPEAKER_06: You guys, wouldn't you guys smoke and crack over there?
- 18:01SPEAKER_06: I guess so.
- 18:02SPEAKER_05: Um weirdos.
- 18:05SPEAKER_05: Mm-hmm.
- 18:07SPEAKER_05: You want to talk about this now?
- 18:09SPEAKER_06: Well, we'll save it for uh Wall of Tunes.
- 18:11SPEAKER_06: Save for Wall of Tunes.
- 18:12SPEAKER_06: We're having a special Wall of Tunes.
- 18:13SPEAKER_05: There is a special Wall of Tunes today because this today is an anniversary.
- 18:16SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 18:17SPEAKER_05: Uh special anniversary.
- 18:18SPEAKER_05: We'll talk about that.
- 18:20SPEAKER_06: Oh, by the way, I'm glad you posted that thing about our gig on Friday.
- 18:23SPEAKER_05: Because you forgot.
- 18:24SPEAKER_06: I totally forgot.
- 18:25SPEAKER_06: Did you really?
- 18:25SPEAKER_06: You well, I have a Masonic thing going on on Friday.
- 18:28SPEAKER_06: Oh.
- 18:28SPEAKER_06: Which I wasn't looking forward to going to anyway.
- 18:30SPEAKER_06: Now you can't?
- 18:31SPEAKER_06: No, I can't.
- 18:31SPEAKER_06: I'm now like sweet.
- 18:34SPEAKER_06: I got an excuse not to be there, right?
- 18:37SPEAKER_06: Yay.
- 18:38SPEAKER_06: There you go.
- 18:39SPEAKER_06: I'm glad I could.
- 18:40SPEAKER_05: Uh yeah.
- 18:41SPEAKER_06: Yeah, it kind of scared me for a second.
- 18:43SPEAKER_06: I was like, holy crap.
- 18:45SPEAKER_05: So speaking of that, let's let's talk about that.
- 18:47SPEAKER_05: So Doug and I have a uh a duo, another duo show uh coming up this Friday in Halton at uh The Down Nanda.
- 18:54SPEAKER_05: The Down Nanda Peb.
- 18:56SPEAKER_05: Um which I enjoy playing there.
- 18:58SPEAKER_05: I do too.
- 18:58SPEAKER_05: You know, I think it's I think we've we're comfortable there next year.
- 19:01SPEAKER_06: Well, I think we're a little bit more established there.
- 19:04SPEAKER_05: Even though we only play like once or twice a year.
- 19:06SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 19:06SPEAKER_05: You know.
- 19:06SPEAKER_06: But I mean people are starting to oh it's those guys.
- 19:10SPEAKER_05: Yeah, those guys.
- 19:11SPEAKER_06: You know, we're before it was like, who are these guys?
- 19:13SPEAKER_06: Now it's like, oh, it's those guys.
- 19:14SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 19:15SPEAKER_06: I think I think we've graduated.
- 19:17SPEAKER_06: Maybe eventually they'll know our name.
- 19:19SPEAKER_06: Who knows?
- 19:20SPEAKER_06: Probably not.
- 19:21SPEAKER_06: I'm not I'm not banking on it, but but I remember uh what was it was it last week we were down in Holton for the modern band thing?
- 19:28SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 19:29SPEAKER_05: Two two uh uh two weeks ago.
- 19:31SPEAKER_06: Was it two weeks ago now?
- 19:33SPEAKER_06: No, I think it was last week.
- 19:34SPEAKER_06: Was it last week?
- 19:35SPEAKER_06: Not this past Saturday Saturday before.
- 19:37SPEAKER_05: Oh yeah, okay.
- 19:38SPEAKER_06: So that would have been remember I I mentioned that there was a band playing there and they were going by their band name and added duo.
- 19:46SPEAKER_05: At a duo, yes.
- 19:47SPEAKER_06: And I was like, hey, we're trendsetters.
- 19:49SPEAKER_05: We started that.
- 19:50SPEAKER_05: We started that, yes.
- 19:51SPEAKER_05: Because we used Comic Crossing.
- 19:52SPEAKER_05: Obviously, you know Common Crossing was a band, and and when it's just the two of us, it's Comic Crossing duo.
- 19:58SPEAKER_06: Yeah, and then I saw that on their marquee and I went, hi!
- 20:00SPEAKER_05: Yeah, hey.
- 20:03SPEAKER_06: There's another band that's so it must be uh because that's uh Roy's band.
- 20:07SPEAKER_06: Yeah, it's Wyatt and Roy.
- 20:08SPEAKER_06: Wyatt and Roy, so it must be just the two of them playing.
- 20:10SPEAKER_05: Yeah, makes sense.
- 20:11SPEAKER_05: So that's kind of cool.
- 20:12SPEAKER_05: Um and then you know who's have been having a lot of music lately and hasn't called us, which I don't really I mean, it doesn't bother me.
- 20:20SPEAKER_05: I just noticed it, is Ferris.
- 20:22SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 20:23SPEAKER_05: Yeah, there's a bunch of people playing there.
- 20:25SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 20:26SPEAKER_05: You know, and and and and not us.
- 20:28SPEAKER_05: So of course we're not actively looking.
- 20:30SPEAKER_06: I mean we're but I mean we've played enough gigs for them at the at their residences.
- 20:37SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 20:37SPEAKER_05: But no, no, see, see, the I the the difference is, I think, is like the people that have been playing at Ferris are actively looking for gigs.
- 20:47SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 20:47SPEAKER_05: They're reaching out to them and saying, Hey, can I can I when when's the next time I can play?
- 20:51SPEAKER_05: Oh.
- 20:52SPEAKER_05: Um, because uh well one of them's Heath.
- 20:54SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 20:55SPEAKER_05: He's playing a lot, which is great.
- 20:56SPEAKER_05: Oh, it's good for Heath.
- 20:57SPEAKER_05: So I'm so glad that Heath is out doing it again.
- 20:59SPEAKER_05: Um and the other there was one that I saw recently that plays it down under a a lot, and that's Trish King music.
- 21:06SPEAKER_06: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 21:06SPEAKER_05: And uh they're actively looking for gigs.
- 21:09SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 21:09SPEAKER_05: So they're probably calling them and say, Can I can I get on the calendar?
- 21:13SPEAKER_05: And we're not.
- 21:15SPEAKER_06: That's a good point.
- 21:15SPEAKER_05: You know, if if I think if they were in need of someone, they may call it.
- 21:19SPEAKER_06: I think that I think that's that's been our schedule there as it as it's uh as it has been.
- 21:25SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 21:25SPEAKER_06: You know, they're just like, oh, we don't have anybody else.
- 21:27SPEAKER_05: Let's let's get these these these loose Get those two dumbasses out of there.
- 21:34SPEAKER_06: Get them in, get them in there, get them in there.
- 21:36SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 21:37SPEAKER_05: Um we already talked about the fact that we're going back to give it a second chance to sizzle and slice, right?
- 21:43SPEAKER_06: Yeah, we talked about the last one.
- 21:44SPEAKER_05: Not not give it a s uh that didn't sound right.
- 21:47SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I just you know, just to see if the vibe is the same.
- 21:51SPEAKER_05: I think it'll be a little different.
- 21:53SPEAKER_05: I'm I I hope so.
- 21:54SPEAKER_05: I'm hope I'm hopeful that it will be.
- 21:56SPEAKER_05: Um John's uh side project is playing there this Saturday.
- 22:00SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 22:00SPEAKER_05: And yeah, so it's and it's a full band.
- 22:02SPEAKER_05: Full band night.
- 22:03SPEAKER_05: So that should be interesting.
- 22:04SPEAKER_06: Well, that'll be fun for them.
- 22:05SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 22:06SPEAKER_05: Uh let's see.
- 22:07SPEAKER_05: What else is going on?
- 22:08SPEAKER_05: Anything else going on?
- 22:10SPEAKER_06: What have we got coming up?
- 22:11SPEAKER_06: Nothing really.
- 22:12SPEAKER_05: I mean it's you know, we're just kinda like we could talk about the um syndicate uh schedule.
- 22:21SPEAKER_05: Uh oh, you know what?
- 22:24SPEAKER_05: It's so interesting to me.
- 22:25SPEAKER_05: And maybe it's it's gotta be, I was telling my wife this.
- 22:28SPEAKER_05: Uh I posted something on Facebook uh uh a couple days ago, and then I posted something this morning.
- 22:37SPEAKER_05: And I'm getting a lot of uh likes from it.
- 22:42SPEAKER_05: Not that I was going for that, I just like to try and be funny.
- 22:45SPEAKER_05: Um but I've and and the people that are liking it are people that I haven't heard from in a long time.
- 22:54SPEAKER_05: Uh for example, one of them I just got a I just gotta notice that one of my former students from when I was teaching English uh down in Mars Hill liked it.
- 23:05SPEAKER_05: Haven't heard from him forever.
- 23:08SPEAKER_05: Um and it was it's stupid stuff, like the guitar, you know, related stuff.
- 23:12SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 23:13SPEAKER_05: You saw the one that I posted this morning.
- 23:15SPEAKER_06: I have no idea what you're talking about.
- 23:16SPEAKER_05: Well, it says it's the one that's well, it's the note to my wife.
- 23:19SPEAKER_06: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 23:21SPEAKER_05: So that's getting a lot of attention.
- 23:22SPEAKER_05: But I uh and I think what why it's getting uh the attention from all these different kinds of people is because I'm home on vacation and I don't normally post at 9 30 in the morning.
- 23:33SPEAKER_05: Oh, that's true.
- 23:33SPEAKER_05: Yeah, they're like, hey.
- 23:34SPEAKER_05: What's he what's he doing?
- 23:36SPEAKER_05: Did he lose his job?
- 23:38SPEAKER_05: Right, exactly.
- 23:39SPEAKER_05: So but it's it's kind of funny.
- 23:41SPEAKER_05: Um but I I find those guitar ones every once in a while and and puts put those on.
- 23:45SPEAKER_05: What was I just doing?
- 23:46SPEAKER_05: Oh, I was looking at our schedule.
- 23:48SPEAKER_05: Um schedule.
- 23:49SPEAKER_05: So let's see.
- 23:51SPEAKER_05: We play Bastion's Tavern on May 8th, which is our second venue in Holton.
- 23:56SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 23:57SPEAKER_05: And that'll be our first time, so I'll be interested to see how that goes.
- 24:00SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I am too.
- 24:01SPEAKER_06: Um that's a later gig, too, because we don't get going.
- 24:04SPEAKER_06: 8 to 10.
- 24:04SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 24:05SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 24:05SPEAKER_06: So two hours though.
- 24:06SPEAKER_06: Yeah, that's not bad.
- 24:07SPEAKER_05: Yeah, so we'll be all right.
- 24:08SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 24:09SPEAKER_05: Uh as long as we don't hit a moose on the way home.
- 24:11SPEAKER_05: No moose.
- 24:12SPEAKER_05: Let's see.
- 24:15SPEAKER_05: We have uh another gig at the down under on May 29th.
- 24:21SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 24:22SPEAKER_05: Uh Syndicate plays June 7th.
- 24:25SPEAKER_06: No, we play the May 31st, too.
- 24:28SPEAKER_05: Oh, wait.
- 24:29SPEAKER_05: May 31st.
- 24:30SPEAKER_05: That got changed?
- 24:31SPEAKER_06: I think I think so because that was the Smyrna gig.
- 24:34SPEAKER_06: Yeah, the Smyrna gig, because Chris's son is graduating.
- 24:37SPEAKER_05: On June 7th.
- 24:38SPEAKER_05: So so uh thank you for telling me that.
- 24:39SPEAKER_05: So I will switch to the game.
- 24:41SPEAKER_05: I think that changed.
- 24:42SPEAKER_05: May 31st.
- 24:43SPEAKER_05: I believe, I believe.
- 24:45SPEAKER_05: Hopefully I can play May 31st.
- 24:47SPEAKER_05: I think I can.
- 24:48SPEAKER_06: I think I can.
- 24:49SPEAKER_06: I think I can.
- 24:50SPEAKER_06: It's a Sunday, right?
- 24:51SPEAKER_05: Uh yeah.
- 24:54SPEAKER_05: Let's see.
- 24:56SPEAKER_05: Oh my cal now my calendar's acting up.
- 24:58SPEAKER_06: Stupid calendar!
- 24:59SPEAKER_05: May 31st.
- 25:00SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 25:01SPEAKER_05: Okay, so we're playing Smyrna.
- 25:03SPEAKER_05: Uh Sunday, May 31st.
- 25:04SPEAKER_05: That's the same weekend as our uh second down under gig.
- 25:07SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 25:08SPEAKER_05: And then we play again, I think it's Mapleton Days, isn't it?
- 25:12SPEAKER_05: I think.
- 25:13SPEAKER_05: Well, actually, uh our sizzle and slice gig is Saturday.
- 25:16SPEAKER_05: Saturday, June 20th.
- 25:17SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 25:17SPEAKER_05: Um, and then yes, Mapleton Day is June 26th.
- 25:21SPEAKER_05: So we're gonna make after that, okay?
- 25:22SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 25:23SPEAKER_05: And then uh seem late.
- 25:24SPEAKER_06: Or is that right a month at the same time?
- 25:26SPEAKER_05: No, I think it's late.
- 25:27SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 25:28SPEAKER_05: Well, it's no, it's right around my anniversary.
- 25:30SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 25:30SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I think so.
- 25:31SPEAKER_05: I think it's it's right around there.
- 25:33SPEAKER_05: Uh I'm playing a couple uh gigs this summer with Buck Dynasty.
- 25:36SPEAKER_05: They're fundraising fundraising gigs, so that'll be fun.
- 25:39SPEAKER_05: Uh we played July 17th uh at the Potato Blossom.
- 25:44SPEAKER_05: We only have, interestingly enough, uh we have only booked four gigs this summer.
- 25:49SPEAKER_05: Four official gigs.
- 25:50SPEAKER_05: It's four or five.
- 25:52SPEAKER_05: I think it's four.
- 25:54SPEAKER_05: Academy festival, potato blossom, Marshall Homecoming, yeah, and and um Mapleton Days.
- 26:02SPEAKER_05: Yeah.

- 33:07SPEAKER_06: It's some is it no holds barred or something?
- 33:13SPEAKER_05: Not under the bottom.
- 33:16SPEAKER_06: Over the top.
- 33:17SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 33:18SPEAKER_06: Over the top.
- 33:18SPEAKER_06: That's right.
- 33:19SPEAKER_06: I forgot.

- 33:47SPEAKER_05: Especially with the clue.
- 33:48SPEAKER_05: Here's the explanation: a boy kicks a snake in the face.
- 33:57SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 33:58SPEAKER_05: You want the hint?
- 33:59SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 33:59SPEAKER_05: To win a tournament.

- 34:05SPEAKER_05: Sweep the leg, Golly! Cobra Kai.
- 34:08SPEAKER_05: Alright.
- 34:08SPEAKER_05: Exactly.
- 34:09SPEAKER_05: So you got those two, you didn't get that one.
- 34:10SPEAKER_05: Alright, so here's the one that I didn't.
- 34:12SPEAKER_06: You know, I like the people that are always pointing out that he actually lost the tournament because he did kick him in the face, and you're not supposed to kick him in the face.
- 34:20SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 34:21SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 34:21SPEAKER_05: So he did lose it?
- 34:23SPEAKER_06: Didn't they give him a trophy?
- 34:24SPEAKER_06: Yeah, but he supposedly, but he won the but he won, but he kicked him in the face.
- 34:27SPEAKER_06: So I don't I don't understand.
- 34:28SPEAKER_06: Did they change the rules all of a sudden just because, oh well, you know, screw you, Johnny.
- 34:34SPEAKER_05: Maybe it was points?
- 34:36SPEAKER_06: No.
- 34:36SPEAKER_06: He he kicked him in the face, and it should have been automatic disqualification.
- 34:40SPEAKER_06: That's a good point.
- 34:42SPEAKER_06: Yeah, people are always pointing that out.
- 34:44SPEAKER_06: You never pick up on it while you're watching the movie because you're like, yeah, Daniel, yeah, yeah.
- 34:49SPEAKER_06: And then uh and then you somebody brings it up, you're like, holy crap, yeah.
- 34:53SPEAKER_06: He should have been disqualified.
- 34:55SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 34:56SPEAKER_06: I don't know.
- 34:57SPEAKER_06: Maybe, maybe because they were like, you know, Cobra Kai was like cheating all the way through the tournament.
- 35:02SPEAKER_06: Maybe they were just like sweep the leg, sweep the leg with the leg.
- 35:04SPEAKER_06: Yes, you know, screw them, you know.
- 35:05SPEAKER_06: So uh okay.
- 35:08SPEAKER_06: I don't know if you'll get this or not.
- 35:11SPEAKER_05: A teenager gets really pumped up by a drum solo.
- 35:19SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 35:21SPEAKER_05: The hint is while on a trip to Japan.
- 35:32SPEAKER_06: On a trip to Japan?
- 35:34SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 35:37SPEAKER_06: What year is this movie?
- 35:39SPEAKER_05: 1986.
- 35:42SPEAKER_05: And I may have thrown you off with a little bit.
- 35:47SPEAKER_06: Huh?
- 35:48SPEAKER_05: I said I may have thrown you off with my arrangement of the questions.
- 35:52SPEAKER_06: Why?
- 35:53SPEAKER_05: Well, I can't tell you.
- 35:54SPEAKER_06: Is this Karate Kid 2?
- 35:57SPEAKER_06: Is it really?
- 35:59SPEAKER_05: Do you remember the little drum the little teenager gets really pumped up by a drum solo?
- 36:07SPEAKER_06: I did like the second one though.

- 36:10SPEAKER_05: I did too.
- 36:10SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 36:10SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I did too.

- 36:23SPEAKER_05: Um like her lately.
- 36:27SPEAKER_05: Yeah, she still looks beautiful.
- 36:28SPEAKER_05: She looks exactly the same almost.
- 36:29SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 36:30SPEAKER_05: It's beautiful.
- 36:30SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 36:31SPEAKER_05: Um, the second one was pretty good.

- 36:43SPEAKER_06: No, I think that was the fourth one.
- 36:44SPEAKER_05: That was the fourth one.
- 36:45SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 36:46SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 36:47SPEAKER_05: Uh, and then I didn't like what they did with Jaden Smith and and Jackie.
- 36:51SPEAKER_06: Because I was I was just tired.
- 36:52SPEAKER_06: Um I'm just tired of them taking the movies and remaking them.

- 38:47SPEAKER_06: Matt Damon.
- 38:48SPEAKER_06: Yep.
- 38:48SPEAKER_06: Yep.
- 38:48SPEAKER_06: And I was like, oh, it's excellent.
- 38:49SPEAKER_06: And the book is even better than the movie.
- 38:52SPEAKER_05: Usually is.
- 38:52SPEAKER_06: And so I so I was like, I haven't seen Project Hail Mary, so I'll listen to the book first, then see the movie.

- 39:28SPEAKER_06: You know, stays pretty true to the book, from what I understand.
- 39:31SPEAKER_06: So it's like so if they're gonna make a Top Gun 3, again, I have no idea what they're gonna do.
- 39:39SPEAKER_06: Yeah, because Top Gun 2 was just basically a rehash of it.
- 39:42SPEAKER_05: It was, and I said that, you know, when we saw it, I was like, it's the same movie, yeah.
- 39:46SPEAKER_05: Which it it's okay that it's the same movie because because it's been so long, you know.
- 39:51SPEAKER_06: Actually, I didn't mind.
- 39:53SPEAKER_05: I didn't mind either, you know.
- 39:54SPEAKER_06: Yeah, because you I mean it's it's it's different, but it's the same.
- 39:56SPEAKER_05: Yeah, you know, because you like the character and the characters, yeah.
- 40:00SPEAKER_05: Um, and the storyline was good with the with Goose's kid and everything.
- 40:05SPEAKER_05: Um, so yeah, what they're gonna do now, I I have no idea what they're gonna do.
- 40:09SPEAKER_05: I have no idea either.
- 40:10SPEAKER_06: They got to kill him off.
- 40:12SPEAKER_05: He's gotta die in this one.
- 40:13SPEAKER_05: Like like Han Solo in Star Wars, yeah, yeah.
- 40:15SPEAKER_06: Yeah, they gotta kill him off, they gotta end it.
- 40:17SPEAKER_05: They just gotta done he'll sacrifice himself or something.
- 40:20SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I mean, like, you know, like they thought like happened at the end of the Maverick.
- 40:25unknown: Right.
- 40:25SPEAKER_06: So they thought he got it.
- 40:27SPEAKER_05: You know, and then that was pretty funny.
- 40:29SPEAKER_05: That was hilarious.
- 40:29SPEAKER_05: That was great.
- 40:30SPEAKER_05: I like it.
- 40:30SPEAKER_05: I love it.
- 40:31SPEAKER_06: I mean, I love the second one.
- 40:32SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I love it just as much as I love the first one.
- 40:34SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 40:35SPEAKER_06: So I mean, if they're making a Top Gun 3, they gotta really bring their A game.
- 40:38SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 40:38SPEAKER_05: Because they got big shoes.
- 40:40SPEAKER_05: Well, I think that's what Tom Cruise said for Top Gun 2.
- 40:42SPEAKER_05: He says, if we're gonna do this, then it has to be really, really good.
- 40:46SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 40:46SPEAKER_05: And he was right.
- 40:47SPEAKER_05: Absolutely.
- 40:49SPEAKER_05: So I'm excited about that.
- 40:51SPEAKER_05: I think that'll be I'm not sure when.
- 40:53SPEAKER_06: What are they gonna do?
- 40:54SPEAKER_05: I don't know.
- 40:54SPEAKER_06: What what what possibly could be the plot of this one?
- 40:58SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 40:59SPEAKER_06: Other than, you know, Tom Cruise runs for president.
- 41:03SPEAKER_05: No.
- 41:05SPEAKER_06: He flies Air Force One and does a barrel roll and you know.
- 41:11SPEAKER_05: Shoots well, this has to be shoots down an enemy plane with a nine millimeter.
- 41:16SPEAKER_05: I don't know.
- 41:16SPEAKER_05: It has to have something to do with Rooster.
- 41:19SPEAKER_05: Right?
- 41:19SPEAKER_05: Like Rooster is probably gonna be the main character.
- 41:22SPEAKER_06: I would say, I would I would think so.
- 41:24SPEAKER_06: Um maybe it's like gonna be like what they did with uh Rocky and the Creed movies, Creed.
- 41:29SPEAKER_03: Right, yeah, that's yeah, that's what I mean.
- 41:30SPEAKER_06: You know, it's Paulo's son, you know, and now you got Goose's son, now you got Rooster, he's like, you know, after the last one, he's like, hey, I'm I'm the top gun now, you know, and Tom Cruise.
- 41:39SPEAKER_06: Maybe Tom Cruise is like now an admiral or something.
- 41:42SPEAKER_06: I don't know.
- 41:43SPEAKER_05: Or or Rooster dies.
- 41:46SPEAKER_06: Maybe it'll be like uh Iron Eagle.
- 41:51SPEAKER_06: They go rescue Tom Cruise?
- 41:53SPEAKER_06: No, no, but remember, remember uh the kid in Iron Eagle got Lou Gossett Jr.
- 41:58SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 41:59SPEAKER_06: He's basically this old old school pilot.
- 42:02SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 42:03SPEAKER_06: I bet it I bet it's that.
- 42:05SPEAKER_06: I bet it's Rooster's kid.
- 42:06SPEAKER_06: Oh, Rooster's kid.
- 42:08SPEAKER_06: I bet it I bet it is.
- 42:09SPEAKER_06: He's got he's uh he's got like his like teenage son, and it's the same plot.
- 42:13SPEAKER_05: You know, you know what I bet happens, one of the things I I bet happens is that Rooster uh like is like I said They go find Kelly McGillis.
- 42:20SPEAKER_05: That's they're like, where did she go?
- 42:23SPEAKER_05: Rooster is like one of the main characters, and he uh gets uh teamed up or or or he the he's going up against a guy.
- 42:31SPEAKER_05: Uh well no, they did that in two.
- 42:33SPEAKER_05: I was gonna say, because what's the what's the what was the guy's name?
- 42:36SPEAKER_06: Hangman.
- 42:37SPEAKER_05: Yeah, hangman that thought he was everything.
- 42:38SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 42:38SPEAKER_05: You know, yeah.
- 42:39SPEAKER_05: So that's basically the Iceman.
- 42:41SPEAKER_06: Iceman.
- 42:41SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 42:41SPEAKER_06: Hangman.
- 42:42SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 42:43SPEAKER_06: Next one's gonna be like Superman.
- 42:48SPEAKER_06: I see a connection.
- 42:49SPEAKER_06: We maybe Marvel.
- 42:51SPEAKER_06: Well, maybe they'll bring back Henry Cavill as Superman.
- 42:54SPEAKER_06: Superman.
- 42:56SPEAKER_05: And then But he won't be he won't be Superman.
- 42:58SPEAKER_05: That'll just be his call song.
- 43:00SPEAKER_05: Wait a second.
- 43:00SPEAKER_05: Tom Cruise, hear us out.
- 43:02SPEAKER_05: So Top Gun 3, you bring in the uh uh the Marvel universe.
- 43:08SPEAKER_05: Yeah, right, and and you can be like the next event.
- 43:12SPEAKER_06: You know, next, you know, like Iron Man's facing off against Thanos, and all of a sudden here comes Tom Cruise and then F-14.
- 43:18SPEAKER_06: Here comes Maverick, you know, and Rooster.
- 43:20SPEAKER_06: And Rooster Rooster will be in like one of those super hornets F-18s, you know what I mean?
- 43:24SPEAKER_06: Oh no, no, no! He'll be in an F-22 Raptor.
- 43:27SPEAKER_06: You know, one of those high-speed ones, you know?
- 43:29SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 43:31SPEAKER_06: And they'll blow up Thanos and it'll be like, oh, screw you, Maverick! You know?
- 43:36SPEAKER_06: I thought Thanos was already gone.
- 43:37SPEAKER_06: I don't know.
- 43:38SPEAKER_06: They can bring him back.
- 43:40SPEAKER_05: Speaking of that, my my daughter's been watching the Marvel movies one by one.
- 43:45SPEAKER_05: She's uh we did you start with Iron Man?
- 43:47SPEAKER_05: No, we made a mistake.
- 43:48SPEAKER_05: Well, no, we started with Iron Man.
- 43:49SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 43:49SPEAKER_05: The first the first one.
- 43:50SPEAKER_05: The first one.
- 43:51SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 43:51SPEAKER_05: Uh we made a mistake, though.
- 43:53SPEAKER_05: Uh she's been watching a few of them out of order.
- 43:56SPEAKER_05: Oh, you gotta watch them in order.
- 43:57SPEAKER_05: She watched Avengers already.
- 43:58SPEAKER_06: Oh, well, that that ruins.
- 44:00SPEAKER_06: The whole thing.
- 44:00SPEAKER_05: Yeah, so yeah, and then so she watched uh uh a couple Spider-Man ones.
- 44:04SPEAKER_05: And then Spider-Man Homecoming?
- 44:08SPEAKER_05: No.
- 44:08SPEAKER_05: Which one is the the the newest one that's not Far From Home?
- 44:12SPEAKER_05: Far from Home.
- 44:13SPEAKER_06: There's another one coming out.
- 44:14SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I know.
- 44:15SPEAKER_05: Uh uh Brand New Day or something like that.
- 44:17SPEAKER_06: So yeah, Brand New Day, yeah.
- 44:18SPEAKER_05: So Far From Home, and and I said, This is obviously happened after Endgame.
- 44:26SPEAKER_05: And I said, Oh, we messed up.
- 44:29SPEAKER_05: And my wife's like, What do you mean we've messed up?
- 44:31SPEAKER_05: I said, Eli's gonna give us a hard time because she was not supposed to watch this one yet.
- 44:35SPEAKER_06: No, that that is way in the future.
- 44:37SPEAKER_06: Yeah, way in the future.
- 44:38SPEAKER_05: She has watched she's watched Iron Man.
- 44:40SPEAKER_05: She has watched uh Captain America on the First Avenger.
- 44:44SPEAKER_05: She uh just recently watched Winter Soldier.
- 44:48SPEAKER_05: Um she uh doesn't want to watch Captain Marvel.
- 44:52SPEAKER_06: Don't whatever.
- 44:52SPEAKER_05: Uh it was it wasn't good.
- 44:54SPEAKER_05: I think the one that she's she's watched um just knees.
- 44:58SPEAKER_06: Press your upper lip.
- 45:00SPEAKER_05: Press my upper lip?
- 45:01SPEAKER_05: Yeah, press my heart.
- 45:03SPEAKER_05: Or just need.
- 45:05SPEAKER_05: That works okay.
- 45:06SPEAKER_05: Um she's watched all the Tom Holland Spider-Mans.
- 45:08SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 45:09SPEAKER_05: And we just watched the two um Amazing Spider-Mans with um Andrew Andrew Garfield.
- 45:15SPEAKER_05: Which she liked and I liked um the first Andrew Garfield one, Amazing Spider-Man, better than all of them.
- 45:22SPEAKER_05: It was good.
- 45:22SPEAKER_05: Because it it tells the story a little bit, you know, like how he became Spider-Man and stuff like that.
- 45:27SPEAKER_05: Anyway, um And also Andrew versus Gwen Stacy.
- 45:30SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 45:30SPEAKER_06: So which is good.
- 45:31SPEAKER_05: Uh she has watched, I think she's watched the first Toby McGuire one.
- 45:35SPEAKER_05: Uh, but she hasn't watched the other two.
- 45:37SPEAKER_06: Um well she can skip the third one.
- 45:40SPEAKER_06: But the second one's pretty great.
- 45:41SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 45:41SPEAKER_05: So um and so I think the one that she's uh next is on is um uh The Incredible Hulk.
- 45:50SPEAKER_05: Which one?
- 45:51SPEAKER_05: Uh well that's the thing.
- 45:52SPEAKER_05: On on the Disney thing, it's it's the In it says The Incredible Hulk, and the other movie is what, The Hulk?
- 46:00SPEAKER_06: It's just Hulk, I think.
- 46:01SPEAKER_05: And that's that's that's the Ed Norton one.
- 46:03SPEAKER_05: Okay, so The Incredible Hulk is I think that's uh what's his face?
- 46:08SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I know who you mean.
- 46:09SPEAKER_05: You know him very well.
- 46:10SPEAKER_05: I do.
- 46:10SPEAKER_05: Mark Ruffalo.
- 46:11SPEAKER_06: Mark Ruffalo, yeah.
- 46:12SPEAKER_05: So that's the one she should watch.
- 46:14SPEAKER_05: Right?
- 46:15SPEAKER_06: I mean, the Ed Norton one isn't terrible.
- 46:17SPEAKER_05: No, I liked it.
- 46:18SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 46:18SPEAKER_05: There was another one, wasn't there?
- 46:20SPEAKER_05: Uh um There was an Eric Banya one.
- 46:23SPEAKER_05: Eric Banya, that's what that was what his name was.
- 46:25SPEAKER_05: Oh, and Jennifer Conley is in that one.
- 46:26SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 46:27SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 46:27SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 46:28SPEAKER_05: Um that was I'll watch anything with Jennifer Conley.
- 46:31SPEAKER_05: Me too.
- 46:31SPEAKER_05: But that was not part of the Marvel Universe.
- 46:34SPEAKER_05: No, no.
- 46:34SPEAKER_05: That was separate.
- 46:35SPEAKER_06: I mean, the Ed Norton one technically was, but it it's a long stretch to get there.
- 46:40SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 46:41SPEAKER_06: But the Eric Banya one was like an outline.
- 46:44SPEAKER_05: Separate, yeah.
- 46:44SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 46:45SPEAKER_05: Um so she's she's like, I don't really want to watch these.
- 46:48SPEAKER_05: What about the Thor ones?
- 46:49SPEAKER_05: Oh, she watched the first door.
- 46:50SPEAKER_06: First door, okay.
- 46:51SPEAKER_05: Um and I think that's it.
- 46:54SPEAKER_05: I think that's all she's watched so far.
- 46:56SPEAKER_06: Um gardens of the galaxy.
- 47:00SPEAKER_05: No, we tried to get her to watch that the other day.
- 47:02SPEAKER_05: Really?
- 47:02SPEAKER_05: Because those are the doors are a lot.
- 47:04SPEAKER_05: I know.
- 47:04SPEAKER_05: And she's like, maybe it was just because it was late.
- 47:07SPEAKER_05: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 47:08SPEAKER_05: Um, she didn't want to watch Captain Marvel, and she didn't want to she doesn't really want to watch Incredible Hulk.
- 47:14SPEAKER_05: Um, I don't know why.
- 47:16SPEAKER_05: But I I was like, she's like, you know, the whole Hulk Smash thing.
- 47:20SPEAKER_05: And I was like, well, you know, you've seen Avengers, right?
- 47:24SPEAKER_05: Where he's like Hulk Smash, which is the sometimes the funniest part of the thing.
- 47:27SPEAKER_05: Yeah, absolutely.
- 47:27SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 47:28SPEAKER_05: Um that's all it is.
- 47:29SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 47:30SPEAKER_05: And so so maybe I'll convince her to watch it.
- 47:33SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 47:33SPEAKER_05: So, but yeah, we're we're off on that right now.
- 47:36SPEAKER_05: But that would be kind of cool to have a Marvel and Top Gun.
- 47:39SPEAKER_06: I'm telling you, man, it would make billions.
- 47:42SPEAKER_06: Trilli maybe even a trillion, it'd be the first movie ever to make a trillion dollars.
- 47:46SPEAKER_05: I bet you it's gonna have something to do like a with a nuclear warhead.
- 47:50SPEAKER_06: Well, they all they all insinuate there's something like the last one was the nuclear reactor.
- 47:56SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 47:56SPEAKER_06: And the first one was like well, the first one was just like, you know, they're just being jerks.
- 48:02SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 48:02SPEAKER_06: But uh yeah, the second one's nuclear.
- 48:04SPEAKER_06: So the third one's gonna be, it's gotta, you gotta, you gotta find a new, it's gotta be terrorism related or you know, yeah.
- 48:13SPEAKER_06: Like a like a red dawnish thing, you know, maybe they're trying to evade America and Maverick's the only one that can save us, and you know, and they're like, oh, uh uh I'm uh I'm Maverick, I'm on my way.
- 48:26SPEAKER_06: Let me find an F-14.
- 48:28SPEAKER_06: Oh, oh, oh, oh, there's one in Iran.
- 48:33SPEAKER_05: That was so funny.
- 48:36SPEAKER_05: They had to know that was a hole in the whole the whole thing.
- 48:39SPEAKER_05: It's like, how do you how is that even possible?
- 48:42SPEAKER_05: Yes, it is.
- 48:43SPEAKER_05: Is it?
- 48:44SPEAKER_06: Yeah, Iran ha Iran has a ton of F-14s.
- 48:46SPEAKER_06: Or they used to.
- 48:47SPEAKER_05: But that he could just up and and swipe it.
- 48:50SPEAKER_06: Yeah, why not?
- 48:51SPEAKER_05: Really?
- 48:53SPEAKER_06: I don't know.
- 48:54SPEAKER_06: He's Maverick.
- 48:55SPEAKER_06: It's a movie.
- 48:56SPEAKER_06: It's a movie.
- 48:57SPEAKER_06: Anything's possible.
- 48:58SPEAKER_06: I mean, you know, I mean in reality, probably not.
- 49:02SPEAKER_06: But, you know, why not?
- 49:04SPEAKER_06: It makes for a good story.
- 49:05SPEAKER_06: It's like what we thought was gonna be like the ending of this whole top gun thing, but apparently no.
- 49:13SPEAKER_06: We're gonna, you know, oh, we're gonna make it.
- 49:15SPEAKER_05: They'll figure something out.
- 49:16SPEAKER_05: Yep, they'll figure something out.
- 49:17SPEAKER_06: I just hope he's like an admiral or something like that.
- 49:20SPEAKER_06: Like they actually didn't kick him out of the navy.
- 49:22SPEAKER_06: They're like, but they're probably gonna, he's gonna be like, you know, and they're gonna be like, we gotta call you up, Maverick.
- 49:28SPEAKER_06: We need you one more time.
- 49:29SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 49:30SPEAKER_06: Well, I'm eighty-seven years old now, but he possibly need one.
- 49:34SPEAKER_06: Yes, but you look great for 87, Maverick.
- 49:37SPEAKER_05: I I do think it's gonna be based on Rooster.
- 49:39SPEAKER_05: I think Maverick's gotta be.
- 49:40SPEAKER_05: He's gonna be a secondary character.
- 49:41SPEAKER_06: I bet Rooster's gonna get I bet I bet they're gonna send Rooster to get Maverick.
- 49:45SPEAKER_05: Something.
- 49:46SPEAKER_06: He's gonna be like Maverick.
- 49:48SPEAKER_06: Maverick will be a second character.
- 49:50SPEAKER_05: He'll be a secondary character.
- 49:52SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 49:52SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 49:52SPEAKER_06: Well he's gotta be.
- 49:53SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 49:54SPEAKER_05: Because then then they could build on the franchise.
- 49:56SPEAKER_06: Oh yeah.
- 49:56SPEAKER_06: Well you gotta bring Glenn Powell back.
- 49:58SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 49:59SPEAKER_06: As as hangman.
- 50:00SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 50:00SPEAKER_06: Because that guy's great.
- 50:01SPEAKER_05: I love that guy.
- 50:02SPEAKER_05: But I mean, yeah, I mean, but I actually thought the guy that played Rooster was good too.
- 50:05SPEAKER_05: What was he?
- 50:06SPEAKER_06: Oh, Miles Teller, yeah.
- 50:08SPEAKER_06: Yeah, no, he's great too.
- 50:09SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 50:09SPEAKER_06: I mean, they're all great.
- 50:10SPEAKER_06: I mean, no, but you gotta have Miles Teller back, you have Glenn Powell back.
- 50:14SPEAKER_06: They're still pretty young, so I mean, yeah, yeah.
- 50:16SPEAKER_06: It out actually works out well.
- 50:18SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 50:18SPEAKER_06: But I mean, you know, I mean, the dude is like he's gotta be he's gonna be 70 by the time the movie comes out.
- 50:24SPEAKER_06: That's true.
- 50:25SPEAKER_06: I mean, what what could you what what is the possible plot line to this?
- 50:31SPEAKER_06: I I don't get it.
- 50:33SPEAKER_05: Family.
- 50:34SPEAKER_05: Grandkids.
- 50:36SPEAKER_05: He's gonna be like Tom Scarrett was in the first movie.
- 50:39SPEAKER_06: So is he gonna be running Top Gun?
- 50:41SPEAKER_05: He's gotta be running Top Gun.
- 50:42SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 50:43SPEAKER_06: He's gotta be running Tun.
- 50:44SPEAKER_06: Well, I mean, I can see it.
- 50:45SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 50:46SPEAKER_06: I mean, I can see it.
- 50:46SPEAKER_06: Or maybe, you know, because at the end he had that what was he flying?
- 50:50SPEAKER_06: A Spitfire or something like that at the end?
- 50:51SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 50:52SPEAKER_06: A Mustang?
- 50:52SPEAKER_06: Something like that.
- 50:53SPEAKER_06: He took Jennifer Conley up in it.
- 50:55SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 50:55SPEAKER_06: He was restoring it throughout the whole movie.
- 50:57SPEAKER_06: Maybe, maybe, maybe that's the only plane left in America.
- 51:00SPEAKER_06: And he's he's gonna he's gonna stop.
- 51:03SPEAKER_06: He's gonna fly it into a nuclear weapon that's headed to Washington, D.C.
- 51:08SPEAKER_06: We're like, boom! We're like, finally, we can't make any more top guns because he's vaporized.
- 51:17SPEAKER_06: Uh I don't know.
- 51:19SPEAKER_06: I just it's just I mean, I I I'm gonna say it regardless.
- 51:23SPEAKER_06: I'm going to watch it.
- 51:25SPEAKER_05: Me too.
- 51:25SPEAKER_06: I don't care.
- 51:26SPEAKER_06: But I'm just I'm trying to wrap my mind around what is gonna be the possible plot line to this freaking movie.
- 51:35SPEAKER_05: You just reminded me, you just said something that reminded me of um a Johnny Carson clip that I saw the other day.
- 51:40SPEAKER_05: Nuclear weapons?
- 51:41SPEAKER_05: Nope.
- 51:42SPEAKER_05: So the uh you remember the Karnak bit?
- 51:44SPEAKER_05: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 51:44SPEAKER_05: Where he would like read the forehead.
- 51:47SPEAKER_05: Read the answer.
- 51:48SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 51:48SPEAKER_05: And then he would say what he'd open it up and read it.
- 51:51SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 51:52SPEAKER_05: And this one caught got them laughing.
- 51:54SPEAKER_05: Like hysterically.
- 51:55SPEAKER_05: Like he had to get like get up and leave because he was laughing so hard.
- 51:59SPEAKER_05: And it was just stupid.
- 52:00SPEAKER_05: It was something that you just said that because you know, I have ADHD, obviously.
- 52:04SPEAKER_05: Uh so the it was sis boomba.
- 52:10SPEAKER_05: And then Ed Ed is like Sis Boomba.
- 52:13SPEAKER_05: And then he opens it up and goes The sound of an exploding sheep.
- 52:24SPEAKER_05: Sispoomba.
- 52:27SPEAKER_05: They lost it.
- 52:28SPEAKER_05: I don't know if that I don't know if Ed was drinking at the time, but he was drinking.
- 52:32SPEAKER_05: Of course Ed was drinking at the time.
- 52:33SPEAKER_05: Red was always drinking.
- 52:34SPEAKER_05: His face was so red.
- 52:37SPEAKER_05: Sis Boomba.
- 52:38SPEAKER_05: The sound of a sheep, uh, an exploding sheep mix.
- 52:42SPEAKER_05: You said boom, I think is what it was.
- 52:44SPEAKER_06: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 52:45SPEAKER_05: Uh all right, so yeah, Top Gun is uh three is gonna be great no matter what.
- 52:49SPEAKER_05: Oh yeah.
- 52:51SPEAKER_05: I just can't wrap my mind around it.
- 52:53SPEAKER_05: Uh let's wrap your mind around this.
- 52:56SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 52:56SPEAKER_01: It's time for everyone's favorite part of the show.
- 53:00SPEAKER_01: With everyone's favorites, O'Brien, Doug, Cousin Larry, and yours truly, Miss Judge Ness, Judge Ness, Judge Ness.
- 53:08SPEAKER_01: It's time to play mixtape, mixtape.
- 53:14SPEAKER_05: Past, present, and future.
- 53:15SPEAKER_05: And I will not forget the future this time.
- 53:18SPEAKER_05: Not that I not that we didn't do it last time, but I forgot.
- 53:20SPEAKER_05: You almost did.
- 53:21SPEAKER_05: I almost forgot.
- 53:22SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 53:23SPEAKER_06: Alright.
- 53:24SPEAKER_05: Alright, so I don't remember what the question was last week.
- 53:27SPEAKER_06: It was the country music summing up your senior.
- 53:30SPEAKER_06: Oh, that's right.
- 53:31SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 53:31SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 53:32SPEAKER_06: So okay.
- 53:35SPEAKER_06: So.
- 53:36SPEAKER_05: Country music song that summed up your senior.
- 53:38SPEAKER_05: Let's see what the judge says.
- 53:41SPEAKER_01: Hey guys, that was actually a really interesting week for mixtape.
- 53:44SPEAKER_01: Uh it was kind of a hard pick.
- 53:46SPEAKER_01: Uh it took me a minute to decide which one I was really gonna go with.
- 53:50SPEAKER_01: Uh, I definitely see where cousin Larry was coming from, but that does sound more like an overall high school song.
- 53:56SPEAKER_01: Um, but I really had to go with uh O'Brien's this week because he's alright.
- 54:01SPEAKER_01: Senior year is insane, and you're rushing around to get everything done, and there's there's really no point in rushing around, but we do it.
- 54:10SPEAKER_05: She's not wrong.
- 54:10SPEAKER_05: No, she's absolutely wrong.
- 54:12SPEAKER_05: She just reminded me of the song that I picked.
- 54:15SPEAKER_05: It's like, oh yeah, I'm in a hurry.
- 54:17SPEAKER_05: That's what it was.
- 54:18SPEAKER_05: Alabama.
- 54:19SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 54:19SPEAKER_05: I'm in a hurry to get things.
- 54:20SPEAKER_05: Um I'm in a hurry.
- 54:22SPEAKER_05: Uh things uh I'm in a hurry to get things.
- 54:26SPEAKER_05: Yeah, but this the the song title is I'm in a hurry and then parentheses something.
- 54:32SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I can't remember what the parentheses is.
- 54:35SPEAKER_05: All I really gotta do is live and die.
- 54:37SPEAKER_05: Oh, and don't know why.
- 54:38SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 54:38SPEAKER_05: I'm in a hurry and don't know why.
- 54:40SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 54:41SPEAKER_05: It's correct to mando.
- 54:43SPEAKER_05: So let's look at uh the present.
- 54:46SPEAKER_05: That was the past.
- 54:47SPEAKER_05: This is the present.
- 54:49SPEAKER_05: Play your favorite slow dance love jam from junior high.
- 54:55SPEAKER_06: I think we should call our duo that from now on.
- 54:57SPEAKER_06: Love jam.
- 54:58SPEAKER_05: Love jam.
- 54:59SPEAKER_05: Ladies and gentlemen.
- 55:00SPEAKER_05: Love jam.
- 55:02SPEAKER_05: Or slow dance love jam.
- 55:04SPEAKER_06: Slow dance love jam.
- 55:06SPEAKER_06: Slow dance love jam.
- 55:08SPEAKER_06: We play all Metallica.
- 55:10SPEAKER_03: And their new album, Under the Bottom.
- 55:12SPEAKER_03: Under the bottom piece of bread.
- 55:17SPEAKER_05: Alright.
- 55:18SPEAKER_05: What does Cousin Larry say?
- 55:20SPEAKER_05: Junior Junior High Slow Dance Love Jam.
- 55:24SPEAKER_06: Cousin Larry.
- 55:26SPEAKER_06: Cousin Larry.
- 55:27SPEAKER_06: Cousin Larry.
- 55:27SPEAKER_06: Oh, son of a monkey! I didn't read this before.
- 55:29SPEAKER_06: Uh oh.
- 55:30SPEAKER_06: He took my choice.
- 55:32SPEAKER_06: Great minds take alike.
- 55:34SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 55:34SPEAKER_06: Okay, go ahead.
- 55:35SPEAKER_06: Okay, mixtape.
- 55:37SPEAKER_06: I started Junior High in 1977.
- 55:39SPEAKER_06: A lot of great slow songs came out around that time, like Three Times a Lady by the Commodores.
- 55:44SPEAKER_06: Walter Egan's Magnet and Steel are a couple good ones.
- 55:48SPEAKER_06: But one song really stands out to me because it's still my favorite slow song to dance with my wife today.
- 55:54SPEAKER_06: Sometimes I'll pop it in the CD player and get my wife to dance with me in the man cave.
- 55:59SPEAKER_06: That song is Eric Clapton's Wonderful Tonight.
- 56:02SPEAKER_06: Wow.
- 56:02SPEAKER_06: It holds up today for a slow dance just as good as it did in 1977.
- 56:06SPEAKER_05: I know why you picked it too.
- 56:07SPEAKER_06: Honorable mention to Johnny Rivers, slow dancing sway into the music.
- 56:11SPEAKER_06: Another classic slow another classic song for slow dancing.
- 56:14SPEAKER_06: That's a good says so right in the title.
- 56:16SPEAKER_05: Johnny Rivers is awesome.
- 56:17SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 56:18SPEAKER_05: Very underrated, I think.
- 56:19SPEAKER_05: Anyway, here's Clapton.
- 56:22SPEAKER_05: And I know why you picked this too.
- 56:23SPEAKER_05: Exactly.
- 56:24SPEAKER_05: Are you gonna change it or are you picking it?
- 56:25SPEAKER_05: No, I can't.
- 56:26SPEAKER_05: I don't have another one.
- 56:27SPEAKER_05: All right.
- 56:36SPEAKER_05: You ever heard the version of this from 24 Nights?
- 56:40SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 56:40SPEAKER_05: The live album?
- 56:41SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 56:41SPEAKER_05: It's fantastic.
- 56:42SPEAKER_05: It is excellent.
- 56:43SPEAKER_05: It's not this song because this song, you're right, is nostalgic and breaks back those.
- 56:46SPEAKER_05: Because junior high dances.
- 56:48SPEAKER_05: This was the end.
- 56:49SPEAKER_05: This was the last song.
- 56:50SPEAKER_05: Was it it wasn't just junior high, it was high school.
- 56:52SPEAKER_05: It was high school, too.
- 56:53SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 57:10SPEAKER_05: This is a true story, this song.
- 57:13SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 57:13SPEAKER_05: His wife Patty Boyd.
- 57:15SPEAKER_05: Going to a party.
- 57:17SPEAKER_05: Former Mrs.
- 57:17SPEAKER_05: Harrison.
- 57:18SPEAKER_05: Exactly.
- 57:21SPEAKER_05: Yeah, great choice, obviously, because both of you made it.
- 57:25SPEAKER_04: Alright.
- 57:26SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 57:27SPEAKER_06: Usually I read his question beforehand.
- 57:29SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 57:29SPEAKER_06: I didn't today, because I just got like, oh, son of a monkey! Because then I would have I would have changed it, but I can't I can't.
- 57:36SPEAKER_06: That's all right.
- 57:36SPEAKER_06: It's too late to change it.
- 57:37SPEAKER_05: I think she's gonna pick it anyway.
- 57:41SPEAKER_05: Did you did you pick it too?
- 57:42SPEAKER_05: No, I didn't.
- 57:43SPEAKER_05: I didn't.
- 57:43SPEAKER_05: That would have been funny of all my.
- 57:45SPEAKER_05: The thing is, is I figured you were gonna pick it.
- 57:47SPEAKER_05: Oh.
- 57:48SPEAKER_05: So I didn't pick it.
- 57:48SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 57:49SPEAKER_05: I picked a different one from that era.
- 57:50SPEAKER_05: Not this era, but the my junior high.
- 57:53SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 57:54SPEAKER_05: Like the year that I was, the years that I was in junior high.
- 57:57SPEAKER_05: And that is this one.
- 57:59SPEAKER_05: Let's see if you remember this song.
- 58:02SPEAKER_11: This one's called At This Moment.
- 58:12SPEAKER_06: You don't remember it, do you?
- 58:14SPEAKER_06: I do, but I don't remember this version.
- 58:15SPEAKER_06: What did you think?
- 58:21SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I remember this.
- 58:23SPEAKER_10: When you stand in before me with tears in your eyes.
- 58:31SPEAKER_06: Try to tell me that you Yeah, this is a great song.
- 58:37SPEAKER_10: Found you another.
- 58:41SPEAKER_10: You just don't love me no more.
- 58:46SPEAKER_05: This isn't really a this is a this is a uh lonesome song.
- 58:51SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 58:52SPEAKER_05: But I just remember dancing to it and singing to whoever I was dancing with.
- 58:57SPEAKER_05: Which was probably annoying as hell.
- 58:59SPEAKER_06: I'm like, how do you know all these words?
- 59:05SPEAKER_05: My daughter said that to me the other day.
- 59:07SPEAKER_05: I was some song came on the radio and I started singing it.
- 59:10SPEAKER_05: She was like, how do you know the words to every song?
- 59:13SPEAKER_05: I don't.
- 59:14SPEAKER_05: Trust me, I use an iPad.
- 59:16SPEAKER_06: They just come to me.
- 59:20SPEAKER_10: You just don't love me no more.
- 59:25SPEAKER_02: I love this part.
- 59:37SPEAKER_13: Come on if you don't meet to it.
- 59:42SPEAKER_05: Of course, Billy Vera was a saxophone player.
- 59:44SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 59:45SPEAKER_05: Which is which is where the whole um you know the guitar solo come or the um sax solo comes up.
- 59:52SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 59:53SPEAKER_05: I think it's coming up right here.
- 59:55SPEAKER_10: I've never heard you.
- 59:57SPEAKER_05: No, he does do a whole gold.
- 1:00:03SPEAKER_10: If I could just hold you again.
- 1:00:20SPEAKER_05: Yeah, she was really annoyed by this point.
- 1:00:22SPEAKER_14: She was like, You shut up! Could just ho ho song over yet?
- 1:00:30SPEAKER_06: You're all sweaty.
- 1:00:43SPEAKER_05: Anyway.
- 1:00:45SPEAKER_05: That uh that was I think it was a one-hit one or two.
- 1:00:48SPEAKER_05: I don't think he had anything.
- 1:00:49SPEAKER_06: I don't think he had anything.
- 1:00:50SPEAKER_06: That picture's awful because it looks pretty looks like he's it looks like he's hosting Saturday Night Live.
- 1:00:55SPEAKER_06: It does.
- 1:00:55SPEAKER_06: And maybe he did.
- 1:00:56SPEAKER_06: I don't know.
- 1:00:57SPEAKER_06: Maybe.
- 1:00:57SPEAKER_06: That's uh you might have been the musical guy.
- 1:00:59SPEAKER_05: So that's my choice.
- 1:01:00SPEAKER_05: Billy Vera and the beaters.
- 1:01:02SPEAKER_05: And at this moment, and of course, both Doug and Cousin Larry picked Eric Clapton's Wonderful Tonight.
- 1:01:08SPEAKER_05: Who knew?
- 1:01:09SPEAKER_05: Great choice.
- 1:01:09SPEAKER_05: I was gonna pick it, but I figured you would.
- 1:01:11SPEAKER_05: It wouldn't be funny if all three of us picked it.
- 1:01:14SPEAKER_05: So she kind of has to, by default, she kind of I mean, she kind of has to pick Wonderful Tonight, don't you think?
- 1:01:19SPEAKER_06: I don't know, she doesn't.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_06: There's two choices.
- 1:01:21SPEAKER_06: That's true.
- 1:01:22SPEAKER_06: You know, so whiche whichever one, you know, floats her boat.
- 1:01:25SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I suppose.
- 1:01:26SPEAKER_06: So uh because she is a ship captain.
- 1:01:30SPEAKER_06: True.
- 1:01:30SPEAKER_06: That's her job.
- 1:01:32SPEAKER_06: Oh yes.
- 1:01:32SPEAKER_06: I I knew that.
- 1:01:33SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:01:34SPEAKER_06: She's uh she's a she's a ship captain.
- 1:01:37SPEAKER_05: I just want to play a little bit of this because I can.
- 1:01:40SPEAKER_05: It's this is uh the version of Wonderful Tonight from uh 24 Nights live at the Royal Hour Hall.
- 1:01:50SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 1:01:50SPEAKER_05: Uh because they changed it up a little bit, but it makes it s I don't know.
- 1:01:56SPEAKER_05: It's nine minutes long.
- 1:01:57SPEAKER_05: I'm not gonna play the whole thing, obviously, but at this point, see, the way I I look at these things is the audience doesn't know what song this is.
- 1:02:08SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 1:02:09SPEAKER_05: Right?
- 1:02:10SPEAKER_05: And so there's this long intro, and it's a beautiful intro.
- 1:02:16SPEAKER_05: And so the audience is like, what the heck is this?
- 1:02:18SPEAKER_05: What what what what are they playing?
- 1:02:30SPEAKER_06: Well, you always get those people that no matter what the song is, if they know it or not, they're gonna whistle or yell or something.
- 1:02:35SPEAKER_06: Oh yeah.
- 1:02:36SPEAKER_06: Oh yeah.
- 1:02:36SPEAKER_06: So those are the people you punch in the face.
- 1:02:41SPEAKER_06: Like, shut up, dude.
- 1:02:42SPEAKER_06: Just enjoy it, will ya?
- 1:02:46SPEAKER_05: See if I can get to the still, I mean if you sit in the uh in the audience and you've never seen him do this version before, you don't know what's on the.
- 1:02:56SPEAKER_06: Yeah, you have no idea what's going on.
- 1:02:58SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 1:03:00SPEAKER_04: Until now, yeah, and then everybody goes crazy because now they know what it is.
- 1:03:07SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 1:03:08SPEAKER_10: But then I want to play the I just love this guitar solo.
- 1:03:31SPEAKER_03: This is different.
- 1:03:38SPEAKER_05: Let's see, he's they're adding chords.
- 1:03:40SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:03:45SPEAKER_12: It's time to go home.
- 1:04:03SPEAKER_05: This isn't the same version, I don't think.
- 1:04:05SPEAKER_12: Maybe it's maybe it is.
- 1:04:11SPEAKER_05: I don't know.
- 1:04:14SPEAKER_05: Then it goes back into this hole.
- 1:04:19SPEAKER_05: And Katie Catoon.
- 1:04:21SPEAKER_05: Katie Catoon sings the background vocals.
- 1:04:24SPEAKER_05: Let's park.
- 1:04:32SPEAKER_05: So it's when they come back.
- 1:04:53SPEAKER_05: Here we go.
- 1:05:00SPEAKER_05: Yeah, that's strange.
- 1:05:02SPEAKER_05: It says air clapped a wonderful tonight, the definitive the definitive 24 nights.
- 1:05:06SPEAKER_05: This is not the version that's on the 24 Nights album that I have.
- 1:05:10SPEAKER_05: Because I know that I memorized guitar stuff.
- 1:05:12SPEAKER_05: Oh, right, yeah, yeah.
- 1:05:13SPEAKER_05: You know, this is this is not the same guitar, so it's the same arrangement.
- 1:05:16SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 1:05:16SPEAKER_05: Uh, but it's different, which is interesting to me.
- 1:05:20SPEAKER_06: Maybe there's uh maybe there's like maybe he's like, I'm doing this one because Brian has my other one figured out.
- 1:05:29SPEAKER_04: I know that's it.
- 1:05:30SPEAKER_04: That's gotta be it.
- 1:05:31SPEAKER_06: I gotta.
- 1:05:31SPEAKER_06: I can't I can't do the same one that I gotta look at.
- 1:05:37SPEAKER_05: Brian figured out.
- 1:05:38SPEAKER_06: Brian figured it out by other one, so now I have to change it up now.
- 1:05:44SPEAKER_06: Yes, that's definitely it.
- 1:05:46SPEAKER_06: George and I were talking about it the other day.
- 1:05:49SPEAKER_06: He was asking how Patty was.
- 1:05:52SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:05:53SPEAKER_06: I still apologize.
- 1:05:55SPEAKER_06: But I'm not sorry.
- 1:05:57SPEAKER_06: Hashtag sorry, not sorry.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_05: Alright.
- 1:06:01SPEAKER_05: On that note, we're gonna take a break.
- 1:06:04SPEAKER_05: We'll come back and we'll do a special.
- 1:06:06SPEAKER_06: That was a spot on Eric Clapton impersonation by Doug, by the way.
- 1:06:10SPEAKER_05: Actually, I don't do a special uh installment of the Wall of Tunes.

- 1:07:38SPEAKER_06: We ain't guessing nothing.
- 1:07:39SPEAKER_05: We ain't guessing nothing.
- 1:07:41SPEAKER_05: So, uh, it has been ten years.
- 1:07:43SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 1:07:44SPEAKER_05: Uh 10 years.
- 1:07:45SPEAKER_05: Since we lost the purple one.
- 1:07:48SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 1:07:48SPEAKER_05: The artist once known formerly known as Prince.
- 1:07:53SPEAKER_05: He became Prince again before he died, right?
- 1:07:55SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I think so.
- 1:07:56SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:07:57SPEAKER_05: That was a whole that was a whole uh thing with his record label.
- 1:08:01SPEAKER_05: Yeah, he was considered he was considered himself a slave to his record label.
- 1:08:07SPEAKER_06: He wrote that on his face.
- 1:08:08SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:08:08SPEAKER_06: Was it on Saturday Live?
- 1:08:10SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:08:11SPEAKER_05: Yeah, well he I mean he performed that way.
- 1:08:13SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:08:14SPEAKER_05: When he was the artist formerly known as Prince, of course he had his own symbol.
- 1:08:18SPEAKER_05: So you knew that it was him.
- 1:08:20SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 1:08:21SPEAKER_05: Um but he didn't go by friends.
- 1:08:23SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 1:08:23SPEAKER_05: He didn't go by anything.
- 1:08:24SPEAKER_05: He went by that.
- 1:08:26SPEAKER_05: Which was strange.
- 1:08:29SPEAKER_05: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:08:30SPEAKER_05: Um but yeah, he was he would put a little red slave on his face whenever he performed as that.
- 1:08:38SPEAKER_05: Um but yeah.
- 1:08:40SPEAKER_05: Um let me well, let me just put some music on here because uh we know right there.
- 1:08:50SPEAKER_05: I think we've done prints before on the Wall of Tunes, but today just seemed like necessary.
- 1:08:54SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:09:22SPEAKER_05: And I think I was uh I think I said some maybe I said in the Common Crossing thread.
- 1:09:28SPEAKER_05: I think I I think I did.
- 1:09:30SPEAKER_05: I was looking around.
- 1:09:34SPEAKER_05: We were we were talking about on one episode we were talking about um our favorite uh Super Bowl halftime shows.
- 1:09:41SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 1:09:41SPEAKER_05: And I think I said at the at that time you two because of you know 9-11.
- 1:09:48SPEAKER_05: Right and what they did with it, and I thought it was so poignant and everything.
- 1:09:51SPEAKER_05: Well, I came across a YouTube link of Prince's halftime show.
- 1:09:56SPEAKER_05: Because I think you said Prince, right?
- 1:09:58SPEAKER_05: Yeah, somebody said Prince.
- 1:09:59SPEAKER_05: I think it was you.
- 1:10:00SPEAKER_05: It was either me or Josh.
- 1:10:02SPEAKER_05: And um I'm changing it.
- 1:10:06SPEAKER_05: I agree.
- 1:10:06SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:10:07SPEAKER_05: That was incredible.
- 1:10:08SPEAKER_05: I watched it and it was uh it was live.
- 1:10:11SPEAKER_05: Yeah, completely live.
- 1:10:12SPEAKER_05: Yeah, unbelievable.
- 1:10:14SPEAKER_05: Yeah, he had so many elements to it.
- 1:10:17SPEAKER_05: It was a performance, it was you know, it was just that's what you want from a halftime show.
- 1:10:22SPEAKER_05: Yeah, is is what Prince did.
- 1:10:24SPEAKER_05: Uh U2 is great too.
- 1:10:27SPEAKER_05: Um but and I'm I'm not even a huge fan of U2.
- 1:10:30SPEAKER_05: I just like what they did.
- 1:10:32SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 1:10:32SPEAKER_05: Um But watching Prince's halftime show, it's like there's not much else you can do to top that.
- 1:10:41SPEAKER_06: Well, I love that meme that it's like it's like a it's like a picture of Prince.
- 1:10:45SPEAKER_06: He's got like this smirk on his face, he's kind of giving somebody the side eye.
- 1:10:49SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 1:10:49SPEAKER_06: And it's like the caption is Prince from Heaven watching all other Super Bowl halftime shows.
- 1:10:53SPEAKER_09: You know, that's about it.
- 1:11:02SPEAKER_05: He was just such a kind of person.
- 1:11:04SPEAKER_05: I mean, musical genius.
- 1:11:05SPEAKER_05: Musical genius.
- 1:11:06SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:11:07SPEAKER_05: He was a musical genius.
- 1:11:08SPEAKER_05: He was a little ecle uh eccentric.
- 1:11:11SPEAKER_05: Well, yeah, but you know, but I suppose that's to be expected.
- 1:11:15SPEAKER_05: You know, something like that.
- 1:11:16SPEAKER_06: I think I don't know if he was just eccentric, but he was just I don't know if it was an actor if he was actually that way.
- 1:11:24SPEAKER_06: You know what I mean?
- 1:11:25SPEAKER_06: Uh that's true.
- 1:11:26SPEAKER_06: It might have been he might have put that on just you know, just to keep up with everybody's perception of him.
- 1:11:33SPEAKER_05: I I do think you're right because I think you know, like he I've seen him on talk shows.
- 1:11:38SPEAKER_06: And he Yeah, he always came across as a pretty normal guy.
- 1:11:42SPEAKER_06: Yeah, you know.
- 1:11:43SPEAKER_05: And I it played up in certain ways.
- 1:11:45SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:11:45SPEAKER_05: Uh he was a big fan of the uh show New Girl.
- 1:11:50SPEAKER_05: Well, he was on that show.
- 1:11:50SPEAKER_05: I know that's he did an episode.
- 1:11:52SPEAKER_05: That's because he was a big fan.
- 1:11:53SPEAKER_05: Yeah, he wanted to be on it.
- 1:11:55SPEAKER_06: And he killed it.
- 1:11:56SPEAKER_06: It's one of the funniest episodes of the whole series.
- 1:11:58SPEAKER_05: Oh, yeah.
- 1:11:59SPEAKER_05: So uh let me get a couple different songs in here.
- 1:12:06SPEAKER_05: One, two, one, two, three, and if I'm not mistaken, at least I know he had a couple of bands.
- 1:12:23SPEAKER_05: He had Prince and the Revolution.
- 1:12:25SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:12:26SPEAKER_05: Prince and the Prince and the New Power Generation.
- 1:12:28SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:12:29SPEAKER_05: But I think didn't he play all the instruments on the recordings?
- 1:12:33SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:12:33SPEAKER_05: I thought so.
- 1:12:34SPEAKER_05: I know for the Batman soundtrack he did everything.
- 1:12:36SPEAKER_06: Oh, it's basically like Dave Grohl does with the Foo Fighters.
- 1:12:40SPEAKER_04: They don't record.
- 1:12:40SPEAKER_04: That's not all Dave.
- 1:12:42SPEAKER_05: Well, the first album was all Dave.
- 1:12:43SPEAKER_06: It was all Dave, yes, but he plays, I think he plays all the drums regardless of who's even if Taylor Hawkins is I I I'm I'm not a hundred percent sure, but I know like the first, like maybe fur when he first came in, he was still kind of like about Taylor Hawkins.
- 1:13:01SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:13:01SPEAKER_06: But after that, he let Taylor Hawkins be the drummer.
- 1:13:04SPEAKER_05: But look at uh Wolf Van Halen.
- 1:13:06SPEAKER_05: I mean, yeah, I mean he plays everything.
- 1:13:08SPEAKER_05: Plays everything.
- 1:13:08SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:13:09SPEAKER_05: But I think Prince was that way too.
- 1:13:11SPEAKER_06: Oh, absolutely.
- 1:13:11SPEAKER_06: Well, he I mean, he'd play on the instruments, he'd produce the whole thing, and you know.
- 1:13:16SPEAKER_05: So uh, let's see.
- 1:13:23SPEAKER_05: And to this day, that uh I'm gonna do this.
- 1:13:26SPEAKER_11: We are gathered here today to get to this thing called life light.
- 1:13:32SPEAKER_11: Electric word life that means forever, and that's a mighty long time.
- 1:13:35SPEAKER_11: But I'm gonna tell you something else, the afternoon well and everything happens.
- 1:13:45SPEAKER_11: You can always see the sun day of night.
- 1:13:52SPEAKER_11: So when you come up with every year, you know the one that wants to be on the slide.
- 1:14:13SPEAKER_02: Do you know what this stuff is about?
- 1:14:16SPEAKER_02: You know what it's about?
- 1:14:17SPEAKER_06: It's about this thing we call life.
- 1:14:22SPEAKER_04: Um I get the words here.
- 1:14:51SPEAKER_05: Are we gonna let the elevator bring us down?
- 1:14:55SPEAKER_05: The elevator is Satan.
- 1:14:57SPEAKER_05: Wow.
- 1:14:57SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:14:58SPEAKER_05: Interesting.
- 1:14:59SPEAKER_05: And if the uh so and if the elevator tries to bring you down, go crazy, punch a higher floor.
- 1:15:04SPEAKER_05: It's it's yeah.
- 1:15:05SPEAKER_05: Uh he explained it one time.
- 1:15:07SPEAKER_05: The elevator is is Satan.
- 1:15:08SPEAKER_05: Really?
- 1:15:09SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 1:15:09SPEAKER_05: Don't let don't let the elevator bring you down.
- 1:15:11SPEAKER_05: Let's go crazy, let's get nuts.
- 1:15:12SPEAKER_05: Live life to its fullest.
- 1:15:14SPEAKER_05: Don't let this, don't let Satan get you.
- 1:15:16SPEAKER_05: Is basically what he's saying.
- 1:15:17SPEAKER_05: Wow.
- 1:15:17SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:15:18SPEAKER_05: That's interesting.
- 1:15:18SPEAKER_05: I didn't know that.
- 1:15:19SPEAKER_05: We're all excited, but don't know why.
- 1:15:20SPEAKER_05: Maybe it's because we're all gonna die.
- 1:15:22SPEAKER_05: And when we do, when we do, what's it all for?
- 1:15:24SPEAKER_05: What's it all for?
- 1:15:25SPEAKER_05: You better live now before the grim reaper come knocking on your door.
- 1:15:27SPEAKER_05: Tell me, are we gonna let the elevator bring us down?
- 1:15:32SPEAKER_05: Makes sense.
- 1:15:33SPEAKER_05: It's good stuff.
- 1:15:34SPEAKER_05: Um, because he uh I mean if you he was a I'm not gonna say he was a no.
- 1:15:45SPEAKER_05: At least in the later, later in life I know that he he was very religious, believe it or not.
- 1:15:51SPEAKER_05: Uh even when when you hear songs like this.
- 1:15:55SPEAKER_06: Well, it's hard to t.
- 1:15:57SPEAKER_05: It is hard to tell.
- 1:15:58SPEAKER_06: It's hard to tell with him, you know.
- 1:16:00SPEAKER_06: I mean, is he like is he being for real or is he putting on an act?
- 1:16:04SPEAKER_06: Is he being, you know, and it's like you were always like a little like hmm.
- 1:16:09SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:16:10SPEAKER_05: He and and and he I mean, what on his very first album he had a song called Controversy.
- 1:16:14SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:16:14SPEAKER_05: And I think he played to that.
- 1:16:16SPEAKER_05: You know, like he controversy sells.
- 1:16:19SPEAKER_05: Oh, yeah, absolutely.
- 1:16:20SPEAKER_05: Yeah, you know.
- 1:16:22SPEAKER_05: So this song is called Get Off.
- 1:16:24SPEAKER_05: This was this was from the 90s.
- 1:16:26SPEAKER_05: He, I mean, regardless of the content of the song, it's a great groove.
- 1:16:38SPEAKER_05: Uh still a great song.
- 1:16:40SPEAKER_05: Um this one too.
- 1:16:45SPEAKER_05: This is I'm not even gonna say what the name of this one is.
- 1:16:48SPEAKER_05: But that uh that also came out in the 90s.
- 1:16:50SPEAKER_05: Uh Diamonds and Pearls, a great song.
- 1:16:54SPEAKER_05: This one was from the 80s, though, right?
- 1:16:59SPEAKER_05: Yeah, wasn't this from the Batman?
- 1:17:01SPEAKER_05: Nope.
- 1:17:02SPEAKER_05: No.
- 1:17:02SPEAKER_05: It was right around the same time.
- 1:17:03SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:17:04SPEAKER_05: But it wasn't on the soundtrack.
- 1:17:44SPEAKER_12: Don't have to be cool.
- 1:17:58unknown: Cheers.
- 1:17:59SPEAKER_06: Then you got I just realized he's like right there.
- 1:18:02SPEAKER_06: Yeah, you didn't know that?
- 1:18:03SPEAKER_06: I didn't know that.
- 1:18:04SPEAKER_06: I thought it was like a snare, like a rim shot or something.
- 1:18:07SPEAKER_05: Uh, I think does this one have Sheena Easton on it?
- 1:18:10SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:18:11SPEAKER_05: They're from the 80s?
- 1:18:12SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:18:12SPEAKER_05: And chances are, yes.
- 1:18:14SPEAKER_05: Uh well, he wrote, uh, she had a big hit with the song called Sugar Walls.
- 1:18:17SPEAKER_05: Yeah, he wrote Yeah.
- 1:18:18SPEAKER_05: He wrote all that.
- 1:18:19SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I'm not gonna say what Sugar Walls is about.
- 1:18:21SPEAKER_05: No, no.
- 1:18:22SPEAKER_05: But uh, I think she's on this song.
- 1:18:24SPEAKER_05: This is You Got the Look.
- 1:18:25SPEAKER_08: You got the look.
- 1:18:27SPEAKER_05: Um play a couple more here and then a little bit of trivia.
- 1:18:33SPEAKER_05: Let's do this one.
- 1:18:36SPEAKER_06: Classic.
- 1:18:42SPEAKER_05: There's no bass in the song.
- 1:18:45SPEAKER_05: No bass guitar at all.
- 1:18:50SPEAKER_05: I mean it's it's kind of when you think about it.
- 1:18:55SPEAKER_05: There's no low end, no bass.
- 1:18:58SPEAKER_05: Did you know that?
- 1:19:00SPEAKER_06: I guess I never realized it.
- 1:19:02SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:19:07unknown: Big if you wish to be a big thing.
- 1:19:08SPEAKER_06: Well, really, it's it's nothing but drums and a keyboard and a guitar.
- 1:19:14SPEAKER_06: So yeah, it makes sense.
- 1:19:26SPEAKER_14: An ocean of violets and blue.
- 1:19:41SPEAKER_12: Alone in the world, it's so cold.
- 1:19:44unknown: So cold, maybe I'm gonna do it.
- 1:19:46SPEAKER_05: Do you think he like when he was recording this?
- 1:19:48SPEAKER_05: He was like, I just have I just have the bass left to do.
- 1:19:53SPEAKER_06: Maybe he forgot.
- 1:19:54SPEAKER_05: Either he forgot or it's like, you know what?
- 1:19:56SPEAKER_05: Screw it.
- 1:19:57SPEAKER_06: It sounds better.
- 1:19:58SPEAKER_06: They won't even notice.
- 1:19:58SPEAKER_06: That dug guy doesn't even know, so please screw him.
- 1:20:04SPEAKER_05: But even here, where the hook comes, we love scrying.
- 1:20:09SPEAKER_06: There's no bass.
- 1:20:10SPEAKER_06: No?
- 1:20:10SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:20:10SPEAKER_06: You're right, man.
- 1:20:11SPEAKER_06: I never I never never picked up on it.
- 1:20:14SPEAKER_05: Okay, so let's uh let's take a little sidetrack.
- 1:20:20SPEAKER_05: We've talked about this before, but um are you Yes?
- 1:20:24SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 1:20:24SPEAKER_05: Is it yes?
- 1:20:25SPEAKER_05: Is it what I think it's gonna be?
- 1:20:26SPEAKER_05: Yes, it is.
- 1:20:27SPEAKER_06: Once we get that loser off the screen?
- 1:20:28SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 1:20:29SPEAKER_05: Okay, yes.
- 1:20:30SPEAKER_05: And that and the car commercial.
- 1:20:32SPEAKER_06: Look at that car, it's amazing.
- 1:20:33SPEAKER_06: That's great.
- 1:20:34SPEAKER_06: And a huge summer.
- 1:20:38SPEAKER_05: So this song was written by Prince.
- 1:20:42SPEAKER_05: Under the name Christopher.
- 1:20:44SPEAKER_05: Like the he had like a pseudonym or something.
- 1:20:46SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 1:20:46SPEAKER_05: Not a pseudonym, but a uh what's his real name?
- 1:20:49SPEAKER_05: Uh Prince Rogers Nelson.
- 1:20:51SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 1:20:52SPEAKER_05: Yeah, his name, his real name was Prince, I know.
- 1:20:57SPEAKER_06: A nom a nom de ple.
- 1:20:59SPEAKER_06: Right, yeah.
- 1:21:02SPEAKER_04: But you can hear Prince.
- 1:21:04SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I was gonna say, you you it when you when you once you realize it and you listen to it again, you're like, Yeah, you can totally hear Prince.
- 1:21:10SPEAKER_06: Yeah, you know.
- 1:21:15SPEAKER_05: You know, I've never looked this up.
- 1:21:16SPEAKER_05: Um, the boss is already there.
- 1:21:22unknown: It's just another Manic Monday.
- 1:21:28SPEAKER_05: I just typed in Prince Demos uh to see if maybe there was a oh look Prince Manic Monday.
- 1:21:39SPEAKER_05: I have uh I have never heard this.
- 1:21:42SPEAKER_06: There's his symbol.
- 1:21:43SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 1:21:45SPEAKER_05: Let's see.
- 1:21:48SPEAKER_06: Look at that.
- 1:21:49SPEAKER_06: What in the world are we watching right now?
- 1:21:52SPEAKER_06: This is awesome.
- 1:21:56SPEAKER_04: It's not live.
- 1:21:57SPEAKER_04: No, he's just it's like a rehearsal.
- 1:21:59SPEAKER_04: Rehearsal, yeah.
- 1:22:01SPEAKER_04: But this is his version of this.
- 1:22:02SPEAKER_04: I've never heard this.
- 1:22:44SPEAKER_06: That is the coolest thing ever.
- 1:22:46SPEAKER_06: He he was really the whole package, man.
- 1:22:49SPEAKER_06: Oh, he was.
- 1:22:50SPEAKER_06: I mean, playing all the instruments, writing all the songs, yeah.
- 1:22:54SPEAKER_06: And he was an incredible performer.
- 1:22:56SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah.
- 1:22:56SPEAKER_06: I mean, dancing and singing.
- 1:22:58SPEAKER_06: Yep.
- 1:22:58SPEAKER_06: I mean very James Brown.
- 1:23:00SPEAKER_06: Very James Brown.
- 1:23:01SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:23:01SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 1:23:02SPEAKER_05: Um I still, whenever I see whenever whenever that uh tribute to George Harrison.
- 1:23:08SPEAKER_06: I thought that's what you were gonna play at first.
- 1:23:10SPEAKER_06: I thought you were gonna play that guitar soul.
- 1:23:11SPEAKER_05: Oh no, but I mean, if you've not seen that, it's a tribute to George Harrison.
- 1:23:15SPEAKER_05: Tom Petty sings, uh uh uh Danny Harrison is there.
- 1:23:19SPEAKER_05: Danny Harrison's in there, yeah.
- 1:23:20SPEAKER_05: Um and I think well, Jeff Lynn from Jeff Lynn's.
- 1:23:23SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:23:24SPEAKER_05: Well, and and there's a story behind that whole uh Prince thing.
- 1:23:27SPEAKER_05: There's like a a short little documentary about his appearance in that.
- 1:23:30SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:23:31SPEAKER_05: Um and how he did something completely different on the per during the performance that he did in rehearsal.
- 1:23:36SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 1:23:37SPEAKER_05: And the rehearsal he just kind of laid back.
- 1:23:38SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 1:23:38SPEAKER_05: You know, he didn't even take the solo uh in the in rehearsal.
- 1:23:41SPEAKER_05: Anyway, um instant classic.
- 1:23:45SPEAKER_05: Uh so a couple other things.
- 1:23:47SPEAKER_05: I know you know this too, but I want to share it.
- 1:23:49SPEAKER_05: Is it is this the one?
- 1:23:52SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:23:54SPEAKER_05: So Stevie Nicks was was recording this song, and uh she wanted to get Prince's opinion.
- 1:24:02SPEAKER_05: And so he came down to the studio and she's like, What do you think?
- 1:24:06SPEAKER_05: He's like, I need something.
- 1:24:10SPEAKER_05: So he went in.
- 1:24:13SPEAKER_05: Either he either he did it, either he played it, or he said, This is what you need to do, and somebody else played it.
- 1:24:18SPEAKER_05: But this is his idea was it gets to the chorus.
- 1:24:34SPEAKER_05: Did you know this story?
- 1:24:35SPEAKER_05: You didn't know this story.
- 1:24:37SPEAKER_05: I vaguely remember it.
- 1:24:39SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 1:24:40SPEAKER_05: It's this right here.
- 1:24:46SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 1:24:47SPEAKER_06: Yeah, he He convinced them to.
- 1:24:50SPEAKER_06: I'm pretty sure he did it himself.
- 1:24:51SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:24:52SPEAKER_05: I'm pretty sure that I know it was his idea.
- 1:24:54SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:24:55SPEAKER_05: But I almost think he was the one that played it.
- 1:24:57SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:24:58SPEAKER_06: Well, I mean, if we were recording a song and we were like, hey, Prince, what do you think?
- 1:25:03SPEAKER_06: And he'd be like, oh, you guys need to do this, we'd be like, uh, would you do it for us, man?
- 1:25:07SPEAKER_06: He'd be like, of course, because you guys are awesome.
- 1:25:10SPEAKER_06: You know, I'm I'm paraphrasing, of course.
- 1:25:12SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 1:25:12SPEAKER_06: But uh we didn't really.
- 1:25:16SPEAKER_05: Do you know for the story?
- 1:25:51SPEAKER_05: You know the st the the story behind this?
- 1:25:54SPEAKER_05: No.
- 1:25:54SPEAKER_05: Okay, so this is Journeys Faithfully.
- 1:25:56SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 1:25:57SPEAKER_05: And this will be the last thing we do on on Prince.
- 1:26:17SPEAKER_05: Okay, so we all love that song, right?
- 1:26:19SPEAKER_05: Faithfully from Journey.
- 1:26:21SPEAKER_05: Uh let's see.
- 1:26:23SPEAKER_05: I want to.
- 1:26:25SPEAKER_05: Oh, I so I can play this.
- 1:26:26SPEAKER_05: I think I can play this.
- 1:26:29SPEAKER_05: This is an interesting.
- 1:26:31SPEAKER_05: This is the story behind the song, Faithfully.
- 1:26:37SPEAKER_05: I am playing from Premier Collectibles on YouTube.
- 1:26:41SPEAKER_05: That is the page I'm playing from.
- 1:26:47SPEAKER_00: Thanks for all of the music.
- 1:26:50SPEAKER_00: Good story, uh Art about that one.
- 1:26:53SPEAKER_00: Umright shown the song to Steve Perry uh on a plane, and he um he he loved it and he wanted to record it for a solo album.
- 1:27:05SPEAKER_00: I had a little cassette in my pocket, and he listened to it, and uh I took the cassette back and I said, uh, no deal.
- 1:27:12SPEAKER_00: Um it's gotta be kind of journey album someday, you know.
- 1:27:17SPEAKER_00: And uh so not much was said about it.
- 1:27:21SPEAKER_00: He he went out and made, of course, a great solo album, uh Foolish Heart.
- 1:27:26SPEAKER_00: And um then we started the Frontiers album and got through all the all the songs we had written, and Mike Stone, our producer, called me and said, Um, do you have a ballad?
- 1:27:39SPEAKER_00: We need another ballad for this album.
- 1:27:40SPEAKER_00: And I said, Yeah, I do have one.
- 1:27:42SPEAKER_00: Uh it may be a little, you know, contested here because of you know, I told him a story about saying no to Steve for a solo record.
- 1:27:50SPEAKER_00: And he said, Well, bring it in, we're gonna record it.
- 1:27:52SPEAKER_00: So I brought it in, um, you know, and you know, it was uh
- 1:28:05SPEAKER_05: I wonder if the story's in here.
- 1:28:07SPEAKER_05: Hold on, I'm I might be playing this in condition.
- 1:28:10SPEAKER_00: I said, What's that?
- 1:28:11SPEAKER_00: He said, I I and I just got chill bumps when I heard it, you know.
- 1:28:15SPEAKER_00: I was right here.
- 1:28:17SPEAKER_05: It's in the book, too.
- 1:28:18SPEAKER_05: Actually, hold on.
- 1:28:20SPEAKER_05: That's not what I wanted to play.
- 1:28:21SPEAKER_05: I thought he was gonna explain that.
- 1:28:25SPEAKER_05: And it doesn't look like he is.
- 1:28:28SPEAKER_05: Anyway, the prince called Jonathan Kane from Journey.
- 1:28:34SPEAKER_05: And he said, listen, I want you to hear something.
- 1:28:36SPEAKER_05: And I apologize.
- 1:28:38SPEAKER_05: Because I think I may have ripped you off.
- 1:28:41SPEAKER_05: And he's like, What do you mean?
- 1:28:44SPEAKER_05: And so he played him like this.
- 1:28:50SPEAKER_06: Oh.
- 1:28:52SPEAKER_06: Which is purple rain.
- 1:28:53SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 1:29:05SPEAKER_12: I never meant to call you.
- 1:29:11SPEAKER_10: We'll school around.
- 1:29:16SPEAKER_05: But I mean the structure of the song.
- 1:29:18SPEAKER_05: Yeah, it's similar, but yeah.
- 1:29:20SPEAKER_05: And Jonathan King was like, I think you're okay, dude.
- 1:29:25SPEAKER_05: Like, I think it's a great song, and and I I don't think it's I mean, it's that's cool that he called it.
- 1:29:31SPEAKER_06: Like, you know, just like, you know, hey, I think I ripped you off.
- 1:29:34SPEAKER_06: I'm sorry.
- 1:29:35SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:29:36SPEAKER_06: It is cool.
- 1:29:37SPEAKER_05: Uh well, you know, Michael Jackson did the same thing for Daryl Hall.
- 1:29:40SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 1:29:40SPEAKER_05: Yeah with uh Billy Jean.
- 1:29:42SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:29:42SPEAKER_05: Sounded like uh I I can't go for that or something like that.
- 1:29:47SPEAKER_05: Or no, it was a different one because I think I can't go for that came out later.
- 1:29:52SPEAKER_05: Anyway.
- 1:29:55SPEAKER_05: When he did this at the Super Bowl halftime show, man.
- 1:29:59SPEAKER_06: Well, it was it was actually raining.
- 1:30:01SPEAKER_06: Right?
- 1:30:01SPEAKER_05: And actually, you know, and he played on.
- 1:30:04SPEAKER_05: It was amazing.
- 1:30:06SPEAKER_05: So anyway, uh ten years ago, we lost the purple one.
- 1:30:11SPEAKER_06: I don't know.
- 1:30:12SPEAKER_06: There's a lot and there's a lot of controversy over, you know, how he died and why he died and all that.
- 1:30:17SPEAKER_05: Yeah, they said uh it what I heard was it was prescription drugs, but they gave him the wrong prescription or something.
- 1:30:26SPEAKER_06: Something like that, and then somebody said, Oh, he was slip fentanyl.
- 1:30:30SPEAKER_06: Something, yeah.
- 1:30:31SPEAKER_06: It was just like, you know, it was it was very it's very convoluted and I do not think And it just it it kind of sullies you know his memory because you want to remember Prince as, you know, being awesome.
- 1:30:42SPEAKER_06: Well, you don't want to remember, you know, it's kind of like an Elvis death.
- 1:30:45SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:30:46SPEAKER_05: You know, you just like ah, I honestly i it deep down, I honestly believe that Prince was not a drug user.
- 1:30:54SPEAKER_06: No, I don't think so.
- 1:30:55SPEAKER_06: I I I think it's I think he did a lot of things in his life, but I don't know.
- 1:30:58SPEAKER_06: I don't think he was like a a chronic you know, a drug addict.
- 1:31:01SPEAKER_05: I don't think he was a drug addict.
- 1:31:03SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:31:03SPEAKER_05: I think I think it was an accident or or well he had been sick and he's been su you know, he had you know he had problems.
- 1:31:08SPEAKER_06: I mean, you know, I mean anything's possible.
- 1:31:11SPEAKER_05: So yeah, anyway, it's a sad thing.
- 1:31:13SPEAKER_05: Uh but we lost a genius, dude.
- 1:31:16SPEAKER_05: I mean it was like you know, you you think of people like they call him they call Rail Ray Charles a genius.
- 1:31:22SPEAKER_05: Now, Ray Charles was amazing.
- 1:31:23SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:31:24SPEAKER_05: Ray Charles played piano fantastic, just a soulful voice.
- 1:31:28SPEAKER_05: Um wrote some songs, I'm sure.
- 1:31:30SPEAKER_05: But he didn't play 17 instruments.
- 1:31:33SPEAKER_06: No.
- 1:31:34SPEAKER_05: Do you know what I mean?
- 1:31:34SPEAKER_05: Not to take away from Ray Charles, but I'm saying Prince was a genius.
- 1:31:38SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I mean that dude could do it.
- 1:31:40SPEAKER_06: That dude did it all.
- 1:31:41SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:31:42SPEAKER_06: You know.
- 1:31:43SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 1:31:44SPEAKER_05: So anyway.
- 1:31:45SPEAKER_05: Uh that's it, that's all.
