- 0:00Your favorite and just check your MIC's check one two. Hey, hey,
- 0:03hey Shay check one two. Yeas, all right, let's rock. I
- 0:06gotta tell you, it's been two dang long since these boys rolled through,
- 0:09and right now we only know of one song. But there is a lot
- 0:12to talk about with Dan and Shay. What's up, boy? Come on,
- 0:15what's happening? Man, good to see it. Listen. First thing
- 0:18I want to say is, Shay, I appreciate you being on time.
- 0:23I'm kidding, he's actually working. I was wide open. I was like,
- 0:28I'm not doing anything today. It's crazy. Releasing music is hard.
- 0:31There's a lot of stuff. It's like, hey, we need this,
- 0:32uh this photo for like this media based this like trade ad industry thing.
- 0:36I'm like, all right, I gotta do it. I'm texting and driving
- 0:38very dangerous, slowly slowly. It was very slowly. Yeah, all the
- 0:43tourists down here on Broadway slamming on the brakes. You guys, you guys
- 0:47have this awesome way of releasing music. And we'll get to the song and
- 0:50it's so much I want to catch up on. But you have this way
- 0:53of releasing music, like it just feels like an event, right, like
- 0:57you. It's almost like you hold it for the right moment, the right
- 1:00time, you space out your singles, and then all of a sudden,
- 1:02it's like a new gift from Dan and Shay. What like, do you
- 1:04do this on purpose? Yeah? I feel like times have changed a little
- 1:07bit. We like to be very dramatic about it, like this very strategic
- 1:11timing. It's got to be posted at a certain time. And we're just
- 1:15cooking up a little teaser to reveal, you know, some of the visuals
- 1:18and the aesthetics for the first single on the record. And I was like,
- 1:21man, like, should we be like doing TikTok stuff or like,
- 1:23you know what everybody does, Like I'm surprising my dad in the car with
- 1:26a demo for the first time, or like whatever the TikTok strategy is.
- 1:30I feel like we totally missed out on that. Maybe we're too old,
- 1:33but yeah, I don't know. We're just kind of do it in our
- 1:34way and we like the dramatic, cinematic stuff, and we got some crazy
- 1:38visuals coming for this one. We're excited to hear about that. And obviously
- 1:42a song usually means an album is coming. We'll get to that part in
- 1:45the second Connor, calm down. I'm not going to corner and get dates
- 1:49and help names or nothing. I do want to bring up this documentary.
- 1:55I mean, it's like a documentary. It feels that that hit everybody's inbox
- 1:59and YouTube lately on the was it Sunday night? Ye? Wow? First
- 2:05of all, were there tears when you recorded this thing? Because it felt
- 2:07like the emotions were like, we're really high. Emotions were high for sure.
- 2:13Um, you know, Dan and I through this process over the last
- 2:15you know year, There's just been a lot of of amazing things that have
- 2:20happened to us personally in a way of kind of just you know, figuring
- 2:23out where we're going. You know, with our band, we got to
- 2:25this place where we're just super you know, burnout. I mean we talked
- 2:29about it. You can watch the drive and I don't want to cry here
- 2:31this morning, but it was you know, there was just a lot that
- 2:35we had to kind of work through, and you know, being in a
- 2:36duo is hard. You know, we always talk about this in a band,
- 2:38in a trio, there's one tiebreaker. Duo is kind of the hardest
- 2:42format because it's kind of fifty fifty. You know, and if you're not
- 2:45really working on that communication, you know, things can kind of fall to
- 2:47the wayside. And we wanted to make sure that, you know, moving
- 2:51forward, that we were doing it in a healthy way. And you know,
- 2:53in that video, we just we wanted to sit down and talk kind
- 2:57of like we had been doing. I mean, Dan and I had wed
- 3:00these conversations like an hour long, two hours sometimes on the phone, and
- 3:04one time Dam was like, man, I wish that someone was recording all
- 3:07of that because it was just it was so authentic in the way that we
- 3:09were just kind of working through stuff and kind of talking about the future,
- 3:13and we were just so excited about you know, new music and all this
- 3:15stuff. And I had this idea, I was, I mean, let's
- 3:16just go drive around, like let's get let's get in a car, and
- 3:20let's just do exactly what we're doing right now, and we can call it
- 3:23the drive and you know, just right around and kind of talk things through.
- 3:25And we wanted it to feel very authentic in the way that this whole
- 3:30process has been. You know, we started you know, writing for you
- 3:32know, this new project on acoustic guitar and just really taking it back to
- 3:36basic basics and you know, telling stories and writing about where we are in
- 3:39our lives right now, and we wanted to just kind of sit down and
- 3:43to be able to just talk and not have an agenda. Just let's talk
- 3:46through the last year and over the last ten years. Really. I mean
- 3:49there's probably three hours of actual footage that we just had. Kind of given
- 3:53that to our team and you know, find find the best spots because we
- 3:57just talked for ever, you know, and really talked a lot of things
- 4:00out and had another long conversation and it was just it was very healing.
- 4:03It was another kind of healing point of just being able to talk things through.
- 4:06And I think that that shows and the authenticity because it was very authentic
- 4:11and came from a very uh you know, deep place from our hearts,
- 4:15and that's what we want, you know, from this project. In these
- 4:16songs. We can feel our closeness you know, in the music. I
- 4:20think it translated, and uh, it's just a really exciting, you know
- 4:25place to be, to truly feel like we are authentically ourselves and writing the
- 4:30music that truly reflects who we are and it's just uh yeah, man,
- 4:32we're super excited. Well and let me ask this because mental health is on
- 4:39the forefront of things more than it ever has been, and obviously this this
- 4:44you hit on that a little bit on the drive. You talk about your
- 4:46your relationship at home and in real life away from Dan and Shay. Why
- 4:51was it important to do that out loud? Though? Why was it important?
- 4:55I mean, you guys have an amazing connection with fans anyway, and
- 4:57you can tell like every interaction you guys really ca about, whether it's you're
- 5:00on stage or you're meeting a fan or you're sitting here doing an interview and
- 5:03hanging out like you love every moment you're in. But why was it important
- 5:06to pull the curtain back on this? Man? Yeah, we felt like,
- 5:11you know, it's a through line when you listen to the album,
- 5:13When you listen to the album and all this new music, I feel like
- 5:15you can feel that closeness in it. And we wanted to kind of explain
- 5:17that to our fans. But you know, we were going through this and
- 5:19it's not unique to us, man. We've noticed it. When we posted
- 5:23this video. The comments that we got, we got so many more comments
- 5:27than we've ever gotten on a post, and it was just it wasn't just
- 5:29like come to Chicago or like love you guys sing tequilo, you know whatever.
- 5:32It was just it was real, real stuff from real people saying like,
- 5:35thank you so much for sharing this, thank you for being vulnerable.
- 5:39I've gone through this situation. It was people type in six seven, eight
- 5:42nine sentences, you know, like how this video affected them. And I
- 5:46feel like that really meant that it connected in a big way, and I'm
- 5:48glad we did. I'm glad we posted it and put ourselves out there because
- 5:51we've never really put ourselves out there like that. It's usually like when you're
- 5:55doing this artist thing. You go out and you got your hair done and
- 5:57you got the cool clothes that the stylist for you, and you know,
- 6:00everything's picture perfect and shiny. But I felt like a moment to be human
- 6:04like that was important to kind of set the tone for this music. And
- 6:06the music is very human. It feels like us. It feels authentic and
- 6:11genuine, and I think when people hear it, they'll connect those dots and
- 6:14drive was kind of a perfect way after being quiet for a long time.
- 6:15I think people were kind of wondering where we were if we broke up or
- 6:18what we're doing, and I feel like it kind of explained that kind of
- 6:21absence from social media, and I think, you know, we all really
- 6:25went through it during COVID. That was a really tough time, and you
- 6:28know, that was just kind of a little story of what we went through
- 6:30during that period and shortly after. You know, it's like just from the
- 6:33outside, you never know what somebody's going through. You know, we were
- 6:36from the outside it was like the highest high as we sold out a freaking
- 6:40arena tour and we're winning awards and whatnot, but you know, deep down,
- 6:43we were struggling and battling with some stuff. And I feel like sharing
- 6:46that with people lets them know that they're not alone. Is there Before I
- 6:49ask this next question, is there a second part of the Drive? Or
- 6:53is there more to the Drive we're going to see, because I don't want
- 6:55to ask this next question if it's going to be if there's more coming,
- 6:58there's probably bloopers. We haven't like I have it yet, but uh yeah,
- 7:01there's there's definitely a lot of footage, so we'll probably post clips.
- 7:04You know, you in the Drive, which if you haven't seen it yet,
- 7:08go check it out. It's on YouTube. You guys got it on
- 7:10Instagram. Um, you touch on. You didn't know if Dan and Shape
- 7:15would exist after that break, right? Why was it important for you guys?
- 7:18Because any group, any band, goes through it. We're like,
- 7:23I'm gonna use in sync as an example, not that either one of you
- 7:27is justin timber Lake and the others JC, but follow me, every group
- 7:31has our band has a point where like, hey, I'm gonna try this
- 7:34thing. Hey I'm gonna try this thing. There's something very special about the
- 7:38music you guys make, in the relationship you have. Why were you like,
- 7:42we're not done yet. I mean, I think, for for one,
- 7:45there was you know, magic in the writer's room when we began.
- 7:47There was something about our band that made it special. You know that was
- 7:53greater. You know that the sum of the parts was greater than you know,
- 7:56each individual alone. And I think you know, both of us know
- 8:00that, and I think that it's really important. I think, just speaking
- 8:03for myself, I feel like, you know, one thing through this band,
- 8:05like Dan made me a better singer, you know, I mean,
- 8:07I went from good to great throughout this process, and I've gotten better over
- 8:13the years because he's pushed me, and he's one of the most talented but
- 8:16also hardest working people in the music industry. And I think that we recognize
- 8:20what Dan and Shay is and I think that it's really easy when you're in
- 8:24a band or in a duo especially to kind of be like, well,
- 8:28I mean this is maybe I could do this kind of on my own,
- 8:31or maybe I could do this, And I'm not saying that that can never
- 8:33happen, but in our situation, I think that there is just there's power
- 8:37in the two and I think that when done right a duo especially, there's
- 8:41something magical about that that we can bring to the table together that we can't,
- 8:46you know, separately. I mean you look, it's happened hundred times
- 8:50over the years. I mean you look at duos that we love in country
- 8:54music and Brooks and Done for examples, like what they were doing together was
- 8:58so special. And it's not that Ronnie Dunne was not an incredible artist on
- 9:01his own, but there was something magical when they came together, and we
- 9:05felt that as a band, it was like, man, I know that
- 9:07it's what I ever want to go do a solo project now, Like from
- 9:11one thing it's it's no fun to do that for me specifically, I don't
- 9:15want to go out and have to go, you know, do these radio
- 9:16shows at five in the morning and go on radio tour without my best friend.
- 9:20That would be no fun for me. And I just think that what
- 9:22we've created with Dan and Jay and what our fans have, you know,
- 9:26gotten from that, I think it's important that we continue to make music together
- 9:30and in a healthy place, you know, and I we just I think
- 9:33one thing that really helps is like seeing all the stories you know, through
- 9:37this, even from artists and people in town, through posting the drive or
- 9:41even over the years. You know, we've gotten so many stories how our
- 9:43music has affected people, you know, in their lives, and it's just
- 9:46amazing when that translates so hard you read those stories and you're like, you
- 9:50know, my son, I mean, we have crazy stories of these amazing
- 9:56things that people have gotten from our music. And it's just when you read
- 9:58that and then you meet those people in real life, you see what your
- 10:01music has done and how it's touched them, and I think that it's just
- 10:05what we've built together is worth continuing for the rest of our lives. And
- 10:09I just know in my heart that you know, doing something alone would never
- 10:13you know, compare to the magic that we found with Dan and Shay.
- 10:16And that's just the reality. And it's important that we do this for you
- 10:18know, we have responsibility to our fans and to people and to keep doing
- 10:22this in a healthy way. And it's the greatest thing that's you know,
- 10:24besides my kids and my wife. I got to say that, you know,
- 10:28it's the most it's the most important and incredible thing that I've ever been
- 10:31a part of. And I hope that we can do this until we're one
- 10:35hundred and thirty years old. It's a blast. That's some good content right
- 10:39there. Last thing about about the Drive I want to ask is was this
- 10:46maybe a starting point or a reset point? And I want to seg that
- 10:48into we've heard the single and how it sounds, was this almost like Dan
- 10:54and Shay two point zero is what we're getting moving forward? Like like refreshed
- 11:00because the song sounds like something we've never heard from you guys before. Right,
- 11:03So is the Drive kind of the kickoff to like not that you needed
- 11:07a clean slate, but like, hey, we're we've erased the board and
- 11:09we're starting over. Yeah, I think so, man. I mean ten
- 11:11years, we went through a lot, you know, we tried a lot
- 11:13of different things, a lot of different collaborations, different sounds, and I
- 11:16feel like it is a good reset, fresh start to cut my hair.
- 11:20We got our you know, it's a different look, it's a you know,
- 11:22it's a it's a fresh opportunity for us, and we're excited for that,
- 11:26you know. And I feel like with the Drive, it was us
- 11:28just at our essence, you know, being human, who we are.
- 11:31And I feel like that's what this music is too. It's we recorded all
- 11:35live, organic instruments, you know, live band here on music row and
- 11:39no frills to it. I feel like it's just country music that we wrote
- 11:41on acoustic guitars here in Nashville with our buddies and took it back to basics.
- 11:46And I feel like that's that was really important for us to do.
- 11:48You know, after ten years, you get all these hits and successful songs,
- 11:52you're like, where do we go from here? It's it's a lot
- 11:54of pressure. I mean, I can't even imagine the guys who have twenty
- 11:56or thirty number ones. It's like, all right, we've said this We've
- 11:58done this chord progression, We've done this tempo. It is tough, and
- 12:03I feel like we came to a place where it's just like, let's be
- 12:05ourselves, let's put ourselves out there. Let's make an album that we truly
- 12:07love. You know, this first single, I've never been more proud of
- 12:11a song that in our career, like we feelish it. And it was
- 12:13like my heart was racing. I was like, man, I was like
- 12:16in my bathroom in front of the mirror, playing air guitar. Imagine I'm
- 12:20playing into the show and you know, we're not really on the road right
- 12:22now. We're gearing up to do some promo and release some music. We're
- 12:26gonna be busy next year. But it was like, dang, I wish
- 12:28I was playing a show tonight, because you know, I'm excited. I'm
- 12:31excited to play this new stuff live. When it comes to the writing and
- 12:35recording, did you know that, because this probably wasn't the only song you
- 12:39did right there was probably a handful or maybe even the full album was ready
- 12:43to go. Did you know that this was the first one? Like this
- 12:46was almost like the re interduction, like, hey, here's some new stuff,
- 12:48but this is this is At first, I think there was a yeah,
- 12:52unanimous, especially with Dan, and I was like, this is the
- 12:56one you know, how to find your text me like the first I lost
- 13:03my mind. I was dropping I was either picking up my little boy,
- 13:07I think I was picking him up from school and I was in kind of
- 13:09the pickup line at his school. And Dan had sent me the first,
- 13:13like you know, the first mix of this song. And I mean,
- 13:18I honestly this whole project, this you know, this album that we've been
- 13:22working on as it's my favorite project we've ever done. It's very cohesive,
- 13:26I mean because it came from a place, a you know, very genuine
- 13:30place. And I just remember though, hearing that first one and when you're
- 13:33thinking about you have to think about this stuff, what comes first, you
- 13:35know, And I just remember hearing that first mix and I literally I was
- 13:37like screaming. I was like, oh my god, lost, I'm like
- 13:43losing my mind. I'd send him like thirty texts of like this is the
- 13:46greatest thing I've ever heard, and it was just I felt like this song
- 13:50is so unapologetic, and you know, we've put in so much work and
- 13:54you know, I've been trying to keep up with this guy, and I've
- 13:56finally gotten, you know, my life together in so many ways mental and
- 14:00physically. And I think that it was just like this moment of hearing that
- 14:03song, it just finally clicked of like, yeah, this is what I
- 14:05want. This is the battering ram that I want to bust down the door
- 14:07with. And it just I've never been more excited. I mean, it
- 14:11literally gave me chills the first time I heard it, and it was like,
- 14:13We've been doing this for a long time. We've heard a lot of
- 14:16songs, We've written a lot of songs, and for whatever reason, this
- 14:18one, like, I mean not that we'd had a several of those moments
- 14:22that kind of reinvigorated us and excited us again for music over this process of
- 14:26kind of getting back together and writing these songs. But I this song in
- 14:31particular was just very unapologetic. It was just like here it is, man,
- 14:35I'm not you know, I'm not asking you if you like it.
- 14:37I freaking love this song and if you don't love it, get out of
- 14:39my way, dude. I don't care if you don't like this song.
- 14:43I love this song and I'm so proud of this and I can I can
- 14:45die on that hill, And I think that's important to feel that way with
- 14:48your music of like, you know what, somebody might hate it, but
- 14:50I freaking love it. I love it more than you hate it. And
- 14:52I feel like that's gonna translate. And I don't think a lot of people
- 14:56are gonna hate this song. I think that it is just is genuinely us
- 15:00and it's so much fun. It has so much heart, and it pushes,
- 15:03you know, the boundaries a little bit. But I think that it's
- 15:05just, you know, it's everything that we love about music and it's just
- 15:09kind of wrapped up with a bow right there in this song. And it's
- 15:11gonna be really exciting to play live. I feel like we always think about
- 15:16that, and this was just the first one. It was a no brainer
- 15:18for me. And I'll tell you it's I've been lucky enough to talk to
- 15:22you guys a lot over the years, and there's something about this conversation about
- 15:24this project, like I almost feel like I'm talking to two brand new artists
- 15:30like you. It just feels like you're more You're you've always been into your
- 15:33career and your music, but there's something right now. Do you guys agree
- 15:35with that, like definitely. I was texting with my buddy Andy Albert shout
- 15:39out Andy. We moved to town together in twenty ten. We lived in
- 15:43a very very bad house, no heat, no AC. That's the house
- 15:46of Shay and I'm at But we still right with Andy, you know,
- 15:52we uh, we've been at it for a long time. You know,
- 15:54a good buddy of ours. And he wrote a lot of songs on this
- 15:56album. And he texted me after we posted the drive. He's like,
- 16:00man, beautiful video, Like that's that's really brave you guys, super vulnerable,
- 16:03whatever, just congratulating us on that video. And I was like,
- 16:06dude, thank He was like the first person that we wrote with, you
- 16:08know. After we had that conversation, I was like, thank you for
- 16:11being the first guy to take a chance on us. Back in the room
- 16:14and he was like, I remember that feeling when you guys walked in the
- 16:15room. There was a different energy than there has been for like the last
- 16:18seven eight years. And he said the boys are back, is what he
- 16:22said. You know, Yeah, that's what he texted me. And I
- 16:23was like, man, that's pretty cool that he could feel that, you
- 16:26know, just being in the room writing songs with us. It gives me
- 16:29goose bumps. Man, So this this will play when the song's already out.
- 16:33It's a Nihart Country World premiere. So I want to ask being able
- 16:37to drive around Nashville the songs on the Big ninety eight all day, to
- 16:41know that you've gone from I hope somebody listens to this song to taking over
- 16:45a radio station. You guys have listened to in town for years the entire
- 16:49day. Is that like a full circle moment for you? Or like,
- 16:52how do you how do you feel as you sit in the car, maybe
- 16:55on your way to the studio, and you're like, dude, inscribable.
- 16:59It's the first place we heard our song on the radio. We had a
- 17:00friend who was playing the song in the morning show and she texted us and
- 17:04she said, about to play nineteen you in me and Shay and I ran
- 17:07out. It's like six thirty seven am or whatever, ran out and blew
- 17:11the speakers out of his jeep. And I'll tell you what, hearing our
- 17:12song on the radio to this day still feels just as incredible as hearing it
- 17:15that first time. When it comes to your relationship with your fans knowing that
- 17:22this song will now be out there. The Drive doesn't didn't tease that that
- 17:29something was necessarily coming, but it's like, hey, Dan and Shay are
- 17:32here, Like, get your playlist ready, you might have to free some
- 17:36spots up here. Um. But with that how it, fans reacted not
- 17:41necessarily to the drive, but but the buzz that something's coming. They know
- 17:45that that's something's coming for sure. And I think there was a pre savee
- 17:48link that that went out that a lot of people had picked up on.
- 17:51And I you know, we've kind of done this over the years. They
- 17:53kind of our fans know us really well. They're like, all right,
- 17:56the guys are getting going again. And I can feel just different energy and
- 18:00the excitement. And I think that, you know, just as artists like
- 18:03you just learn over the years to truly and there's I feel like country music
- 18:07does it the best to truly appreciate their fans, and we've had that relationship
- 18:11with them from day one, but I feel like it just feels different.
- 18:15Obviously, you know, we've been so busy over the last eight years,
- 18:18and not that we didn't always try to super serve our fans, but I
- 18:22just think that with time and with a little bit of earned wisdom, that
- 18:26you you truly get it where like, man, we genuinely wouldn't have a
- 18:30career without people like you playing our songs and getting it out to those people,
- 18:34and without the people that have all of those stories that personally relate to
- 18:37this music. You know, you have to think about those people because you
- 18:41don't have a career without those people. We can get in a room together
- 18:44and have a therapy session all we want and write about what we're going through,
- 18:48but if there's no one there to receive that, it is just that
- 18:51as therapy session. And I feel like we kind of came into this being
- 18:53like, if this needs to be just kind of us talking through that's okay
- 18:56too. But we know now over just our experience of the years that when
- 19:00you are able to be vulnerable and write music from that place, it just
- 19:04is going to naturally translate to the fans in that kind of way where they
- 19:08believe what you're saying because you believe what you're saying. And I think that
- 19:11our fans just kind of feel that on this record, and just from the
- 19:15little bit that we've been out and kind of talking to us and kind of
- 19:18filling that new energy. Yet they know that you know something is coming,
- 19:22And I think there's a new excitement of fresh excitement because we have, you
- 19:26know that that energy. We're excited as ever, you know, to do
- 19:30this thing called life and get to do the greatest job in the world and
- 19:33to be able to create music for these people. And I just have a
- 19:36new appreciation of what we get to do and for the people that we get
- 19:40to do it with, you know. And four and yeah, I think
- 19:41that there's they know something's coming for sure, do you? And this part
- 19:47will get clipped because this song comes out Friday. Our album details. I
- 19:52just don't want to air this and have are we holding that's Wednesday? This
- 19:56will air Friday and Saturday. Yeah, okay, there will be album details.
- 20:00Oh yeah, okay Thursday late night. So Thursday late night. What's
- 20:03the date do you have it? Are you going date? September to be
- 20:07announced? Yeah? Are you sharing the title? I don't know? Bigger
- 20:11houses, Bigger Houses? Yeah, So knowing that we have the new album
- 20:15coming, which by the way, I almost I was contemplating getting a janitorial
- 20:19job at the label just so I could like look through computers to find it
- 20:22early. It's fine, it's fine, they're not hiring. I guess their
- 20:27WiFi is difficult to access. We can't even access it. Is it exciting
- 20:33to know that there's this full project people are going to get more than just
- 20:36this song. And then second half of that is why why the title?
- 20:41Yeah, And we're so fared up every single song on this record. You
- 20:44know. I know it's kind of the era of putting out a million songs
- 20:45and that's totally cool, but I feel like for us, it was just
- 20:48we wanted it to be concise. We wanted it to be enough songs so
- 20:51our fans felt like they got something new, something fresh. But I feel
- 20:53like Dispatch, it's a twelve song album, really tells the story of where
- 20:56we've been, where we are, and where we're going. And just so
- 21:00proud of every single one of these songs. No stone left unturned on these
- 21:03We wrote a ton of songs for this record. We overcut, there were
- 21:07a bunch that might come out at some point, but this is just this
- 21:10is what we wanted to say right now and felt like everything was cohesive,
- 21:12kind of for the first time in our career. There's always been like you
- 21:15know, even our successful albums, it's always like there's one or two songs
- 21:18that like it kind of doesn't fit. And for us, it was like,
- 21:22we want to make something that you can listen to front to back and
- 21:23it feels like it was recorded at the same place, with the same musicians,
- 21:27the same singers singing the songs. And it really is that this album
- 21:32so special to us, you know, we we feel like there's a lot
- 21:33of songs that could go on country radio. We've ran around playing it for
- 21:37folks and everybody's got a different favorite. But I think the unanimous decision save
- 21:40me the trouble. First single is is Off to the Races. We're rocking
- 21:42on that one, but yeah, Bigger Houses is it's the last track on
- 21:45the album. It's super special. It's close to our hearts and I think
- 21:48it's one of your favorites on the records, one of my favorites on the
- 21:52record man. And this, to me, I feel like it just made
- 21:55sense to call the album Bigger Houses because with an album, especially one as
- 21:59cohesive as this one, I feel like we wanted to have a title that
- 22:03really encapsulated what this not only this album is about, but where we're at
- 22:07right now, and the song Bigger Houses is really about you know, we
- 22:11talk about you can't find, you know, happiness with a bigger house.
- 22:15You don't find your joy and money and all these things and things that we've
- 22:18learned the hard way. You know, you get caught up in this business
- 22:21and you know, you start chasing after things that you know that this next
- 22:25high, you know, there's always going to be a higher high. And
- 22:27I feel like we got to those places where we were on a really big
- 22:32high of like winning Grammys and selling out arenas, and that was some of
- 22:36our lowest times, which is kind of mind boggling to think about from the
- 22:38outside of like, how are you guys going through a hard time? You
- 22:42know, you guys are? I mean, if you were like you guys,
- 22:44you got y'all have to worry about money, you have to worry about
- 22:47this, like and I feel like everybody can relate to that because it doesn't
- 22:49matter. There were times that we had zero money, but we're happier than
- 22:53we ever were, and I think that just that wisdom comes with time and
- 22:57we know now that you can only find enjoy you know, and the people
- 23:00around you, you know, and making sure that you put stock into things
- 23:03that actually matter, and this song talks about that. And from the very
- 23:07first time that I heard this song, it was just like, this is
- 23:10this says everything that this is exactly where we're at in our lives right now,
- 23:15and it just really translated to me and being able to cut that one
- 23:19and just means so much, and it exactly says, you know, exactly
- 23:22what I want my life to be and kind of my mantra really and I
- 23:26feel like it just fits so perfectly as the title of the album. And
- 23:30even though all the songs aren't about that specifically, you can feel that,
- 23:33you know, in the music. I just feel like that overall overarching theme
- 23:37of just gratefulness and just appreciating where you're at in this moment. I think
- 23:42it just kind of reaches over every single song. And even when the song
- 23:47like Save Me the Trouble is not necessarily a love song or about, you
- 23:51know, appreciating life, I feel like you can feel it in the energy
- 23:55of where we are, you know, because we're singing from place like we've
- 23:56all been through these things, And even when the songs aren't specifically about that,
- 24:02you just feel it. On the album and I think it comes through
- 24:04you know, music is a magical thing, and I can't explain all the
- 24:07intricacies of how it touches someone's spirit, you know, and how people feel
- 24:11that emotion. But over the entire album, I think it's cohesive because you
- 24:15feel that overarching you know, gratitude from us and kind of the wisdom that
- 24:22we've learned over the years and these lessons that we've learned, and I just
- 24:25it is the perfect song to kind of encapsulate where we are in our lives
- 24:30right now. God, that's well. I got goose bumps for you guys
- 24:33right now. Man, it's a busy day for you. New album details,
- 24:37new song. Thanks for carving out time to hang with us. Boys,
- 24:40dude, you're the best. So good to see you. Man.
- 24:41Thanks for as having us and showing love on these songs. Absolutely
