- 1:00Speaker 1: this month because, you know, we're trying to, Keep it

- 1:12Speaker 3: the old ones.
- 1:13Speaker 1: All our other old amazing episodes are now available to
- 1:16Speaker 1: you as soon as you join the club. I think
- 1:19Speaker 1: you should do it. And you can hear us say
- 1:22Speaker 1: ridiculous and spooky things like this.
- 1:27Speaker 3: I will give him credit.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Him standing there in the burning building is an amazing image.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Oh.
- 1:32Speaker 3: Once again, visually, these things look great, and it's put
- 1:35Speaker 3: together really nicely.
- 1:39Speaker 2: More candy.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Going into this, well before I saw it, just when
- 1:46Speaker 1: I heard that they were going from just making that
- 1:49Speaker 1: original reboot... to making a new trilogy because that's immediately
- 1:55Speaker 1: it jumped from one off to three movies it wasn't
- 1:58Speaker 1: and it did really well we're gonna have a sequel
- 2:00Speaker 1: we knew that after we watched the last one because
- 2:02Speaker 1: it made a ton of money but they immediately jumped
- 2:04Speaker 1: to okay now we're doing another trilogy so as soon
- 2:08Speaker 1: as i heard that and definitely by the time i
- 2:10Speaker 1: got to this trailer for the new one i'm just
- 2:12Speaker 1: like oh lord this is.
- 2:15Speaker 2: And when I went to see that, I took some
- 2:17Speaker 2: friends with me, one of whom doesn't like scary movies.
- 2:20Speaker 2: So he spent the entire time going to the bar
- 2:22Speaker 2: and getting double wines and kept bringing me double wines.
- 2:26Speaker 2: So I don't even remember.
- 2:29Speaker 3: The Headless Horseman. Complete with pumpkin head.
- 2:35Speaker 2: And a sword.
- 2:36Speaker 3: And sword. So he's going to ride up. And Phillip's
- 2:39Speaker 3: going to get decapitated.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Is what it looks like right now.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Yeah, Phillip is in the line.
- 2:42Speaker 3: Maybe that's what happened to him.
- 2:45Speaker 2: But they know they live in the Myers house because
- 2:48Speaker 2: they told those punk kids about the legend of Michael
- 2:51Speaker 2: Myers they get weird knocks at the door they notice
- 2:55Speaker 2: that the back door is open and there is a
- 2:57Speaker 2: bloody adult size handprint on the wall and instead of
- 3:01Speaker 2: just leaving out the back door and going to get
- 3:03Speaker 2: help they stay in the house they split up one
- 3:07Speaker 2: on each floor even though they heard footsteps upstairs so
- 3:10Speaker 2: they know that he is upstairs one of them stays
- 3:12Speaker 2: downstairs And then when the.
- 3:17Speaker 2: I don't think people.
- 3:18Speaker 1: I saw it when it came out, and I was
- 3:21Speaker 1: still relatively young enough to not really fully get the
- 3:25Speaker 1: level of weirdness. Like, it was just a weird movie
- 3:27Speaker 1: to me at the time. It was only years later
- 3:30Speaker 1: I looked back and went.
- 3:32Speaker 2: I feel like it was mostly, like, a way for
- 3:37Speaker 2: them to show a bunch of really gnarly, gory kills,
- 3:40Speaker 2: which there were a lot of those.
- 3:41Speaker 3: Which there were.
- 3:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:44Speaker 1: That's going to come get you.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Yeah, that one's closest to me. Well, I guess the
- 3:47Speaker 2: robed skull face guy is closest to me.
- 3:51Speaker 3: The cult member?
- 3:52Speaker 2: Yes. I'll just join his cult. It's fine. I love cult.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Sooner or later, it's bound to happen. I feel like
- 4:02Speaker 1: that's where we're going to be with this in the
- 4:03Speaker 1: long run. Assuming they wrap things up in this third movie.
- 4:08Speaker 2: There was a lot going on in that movie. I
- 4:10Speaker 2: loved it. I thought it was great. I thought the
- 4:12Speaker 2: main kid was....
- 4:15Speaker 1: Carpenter wrote the second one but somehow he didn't like
- 4:18Speaker 1: it like which is weird but like years later he
- 4:21Speaker 1: didn't love a lot of what went on there so
- 4:23Speaker 1: i think he was really involved in the hey let's
- 4:26Speaker 1: just get rid of that part when they got to
- 4:28Speaker 1: this new movie the one from 2018 and was like
- 4:30Speaker 1: yeah skip all that stuff i wrote in two screw
- 4:32Speaker 1: that let's just reboot everything so that is like such
- 4:37Speaker 1: a different take on it and such a new addition.
- 4:41Speaker 1: It's rare that you see something really original in any, again,
- 4:45Speaker 1: any genre, but horror in particular. We've seen so many
- 4:48Speaker 1: different variations on things where they're always like a shade off.
- 4:51Speaker 1: This one is several shades off and like such an
- 4:55Speaker 1: interesting take on it and so close to the real world.
- 5:00Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Because we've all kind of met that person and they
- 5:03Speaker 1: really are just.
- 5:05Speaker 1: And I was trying to remember some of our takes
- 5:07Speaker 1: on what happened in the 2018 one.
- 5:09Speaker 3: I went back and.
- 5:10Speaker 1: We specifically were talking about the bus crash. And we
- 5:14Speaker 1: see those other guys go wandering off out of the
- 5:17Speaker 1: bus crash that he doesn't murder. He murders most of them,
- 5:20Speaker 1: but there's like two that wander off. At the time,
- 5:22Speaker 1: we were like, what about.
- 5:25Speaker 2: Always loved his sense of humor.
- 5:26Speaker 1: And that's... It has shaped your weird sense of humor
- 5:29Speaker 1: that we have now.
- 5:31Speaker 2: Absolutely. And it has a lot of that similar kind
- 5:34Speaker 2: of humor in it.
- 5:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:36Speaker 4: It's great.
- 5:36Speaker 1: It's so funny. They're fictional characters.
- 5:40Speaker 3: I know that kind of.
- 5:41Speaker 1: But I'm thinking these characters have no idea what's about
- 5:44Speaker 1: to happen.
- 5:47Speaker 3: Orange goo, black goo.
- 5:49Speaker 2: Ooh.
- 5:51Speaker 1: And I found out a test run a week or
- 5:53Speaker 1: so ago when I first saw these. The black will
- 5:56Speaker 1: turn your tongue black, so please have some so when
- 5:58Speaker 1: you go visit your family later, they're like, what the
- 6:01Speaker 1: hell is going on with you?
- 6:02Speaker 4: Were they trying to say, like, I'm not sure what
- 6:07Speaker 4: point they were trying to make about the house versus Laurie,
- 6:11Speaker 4: because it seemed like it always been like, Michael Myers
- 6:13Speaker 4: is coming for Laurie, and that's why they were all
- 6:15Speaker 4: so convinced that he was going to come to the hospital,
- 6:17Speaker 4: and instead he just ends up, all he wants to
- 6:19Speaker 4: do is go stand in his sister's room and stare
- 6:22Speaker 4: out her window or whatever.
- 6:24Speaker 1: I was thinking that as I was watching that, I
- 6:26Speaker 1: was like, well, I wonder if Noren's enjoying this a
- 6:28Speaker 1: little extra because there's a weirdo looking out a window.
- 6:31Speaker 3: If only you would have walled.
- 6:32Speaker 1: It up so nobody could know he's hiding up there.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Is one of my favorites. She's incredible. I want to
- 6:39Speaker 2: be her. I love her so much. She has the
- 6:41Speaker 2: best lines and delivery and just....
- 6:45Speaker 1: And something, I knew it was awkward, but I don't
- 6:48Speaker 1: know if you realized.
- 6:51Speaker 1: That was my way of dealing with it because it
- 6:53Speaker 1: was so drastically different in that movie, so drastically different
- 6:56Speaker 1: in this movie. I'm like, okay, we're leaving behind the reality,
- 7:00Speaker 1: if you want to call it, of the 78 movie.
- 7:02Speaker 1: I feel like that story about Michael Myers is.
- 7:06Speaker 2: He's the gem.
- 7:09Speaker 1: His job is for them to say stupid things and
- 7:11Speaker 1: he just looks at the camera and is just like, what?
- 7:14Speaker 3: This is my life.
- 7:15Speaker 1: This is what I have to deal with.
- 7:17Speaker 3: So he has a real world.
- 7:19Speaker 1: consciousness that he brings to it that everybody else is
- 7:21Speaker 1: just oblivious to what's going on why are we the
- 7:26Speaker 1: audience watching him focus on this character that now he
- 7:30Speaker 1: has no tie to really as far as he knows
- 7:33Speaker 1: she's been traumatized by him she would have reason to
- 7:35Speaker 1: be you know fixated on him he's insane why the
- 7:39Speaker 1: hell would he care about any one victim versus another
- 7:42Speaker 1: is he sitting around thinking about pj souls all day
- 7:45Speaker 1: he should be but i mean that's just because she's
- 7:47Speaker 1: awesome that was again like they're finding new ways to
- 7:53Speaker 1: adapt it into like real world stuff going on that
- 7:55Speaker 1: that is very fitting and yet kind of poignant sometimes
- 8:02Speaker 1: much more geared towards the audience it's like this is
- 8:04Speaker 1: what the audience wants this is what i like from
- 8:07Speaker 1: all those other halloween sequels i watch but let's wipe
- 8:09Speaker 1: all those out and then we're just going to continue
- 8:11Speaker 1: on with that kind of thing i'm like.
- 8:14Speaker 2: Everyone comes in a group and then approaches him one
- 8:17Speaker 2: by one and just waits for the next person to
- 8:19Speaker 2: be murdered before they jump in.
- 8:21Speaker 3: It's Kung Fu movie rules.
- 8:23Speaker 1: Like you circle around them and then wait your turn
- 8:26Speaker 1: to go up there and get your ass kicked.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Bash his head in. Smush his brains. Smush his brains in.
- 8:34Speaker 1: It is so old school horror. Like it is torches
- 8:39Speaker 1: and pitchforks. Like it is. They're chasing down the monster
- 8:43Speaker 1: like he's Frankenstein, essentially. The entire village comes out and
- 8:47Speaker 1: gets their golf clubs and torches and decides to chase
- 8:50Speaker 1: him down the street. And, of course, then we get
- 8:52Speaker 1: more into the mob mentality of our real world.
- 8:58Speaker 2: And he stands there for a solid 15 seconds as
- 9:02Speaker 2: Michael Myers slowly walks toward him with the knife and
- 9:04Speaker 2: is just like... no turn around turn around go out
- 9:09Speaker 2: the door i.
- 9:10Speaker 1: Would ask you've seen horror movies before but i know
- 9:13Speaker 1: you have because we do this all the time.
- 9:16Speaker 3: These are the horror movie.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Rules the curse of michael myers moments before we were
- 9:23Speaker 1: about to record and.
- 9:26Speaker 3: Michael myers was in your house and he was in
- 9:28Speaker 3: your house.
- 9:30Speaker 2: It'd be an idea right.
- 9:33Speaker 3: Aliens aliens brought the mask here.
- 9:37Speaker 2: But what if it's William Shatner the whole time?
- 9:41Speaker 1: This was the whole reason for COVID.
- 9:44Speaker 2: So you're saying Michael Myers is Bigfoot. New conspiracy.
- 9:49Speaker 1: I might start a separate podcast just about this. Only
- 9:55Speaker 1: murders in the building wall of like photos with strings
- 9:59Speaker 1: going from one to the other.
- 10:00Speaker 3: And post-it notes on everything going okay now.
- 10:01Speaker 2: This yeah yeah i hadn't even thought about that and
- 10:06Speaker 2: now that's annoying me.
