- 0:00If we examine how illness comes upon us and what effects it has,
- 0:05we can identify multiple different contributing factors
- 0:09that can lead to the physical imbalances that we call illness.
- 0:14Many of the symptoms of illness are the result of the physical
- 0:17body actually resisting the effect of the illness.
- 0:21Is it possible to do away with illness?
- 0:24Is it possible to prevent illness?
- 0:27Is it possible to heal illness? We live in a world that is
- 0:32enamoured of the idea that illness is caused by germs, that
- 0:36is, bacteria or viruses. These germs proliferate and
- 0:41enter our body and start to cause the illness, and we then
- 0:44become sick. But the cause of illness is not
- 0:48so simple as to blame some external factor and avoid the
- 0:53deeper insights that are part of the complex.
- 0:57Some people rarely have ever get sick.
- 1:00They are said to have a strong immunity.
- 1:03Generally, these people have a vibrant and strong vital sheath,
- 1:07which radiates an energy that repels contrary forces.
- 1:12Germs, after all, are simply physical carriers that create a
- 1:17vibratory pattern when they find a receptive host.
- 1:21If the vital sheath is able to prevent or neutralize the
- 1:24action, then the individual does not become I'll.
- 1:29In many cases, the mind actually weakens the vital protective
- 1:33sheath through the operation of fear.
- 1:36We see this in the case of epidemics or pandemics.
- 1:40People become infected with fear and this creates gaps in the
- 1:44armor of the vital sheath that allows the feared illness to
- 1:48enter and embed itself in the physical frame.
- 1:53The physical body is habituated to the idea that certain
- 1:57vibratory patterns will take over and create the imbalances
- 2:01we recognize as illness. It is possible for individuals
- 2:07to build up the strength of their vital sheath to such a
- 2:10degree that illness has little chance of passing through and
- 2:15creating the physical vibrational pattern.
- 2:18Certain individuals, such as dedicated practitioners of yoga
- 2:22for many years, use mantras, pranayam, or other mechanisms to
- 2:28enhance the sheath and thereby find that they do not become
- 2:33I'll. Just as the mind can help create
- 2:37the environment for illness through acceptance of fear,
- 2:40modern science shows that the mind can also be a powerful tool
- 2:45in healing the body. What is known as the placebo
- 2:49effect is worth examination. An individual sick with an
- 2:54illness participates in a study. Certain people are given
- 2:57medicines that have an active property to tamp down the
- 3:01activity of the germs in the creation of their vibratory
- 3:04patterns. Other individuals are given a
- 3:08remedy that in fact has no active force associated with it.
- 3:13Their belief in the remedy, regardless of its actual ability
- 3:17to attack the invading germs, has been found to cure
- 3:21individuals some 25% of the time or more.
- 3:26If there is no active medicine, then we have to attribute the
- 3:30healing power to the mind and the body itself.
- 3:36Some people are able to experience a feeling of pressure
- 3:39on their vital sheath, which they associate with a potential
- 3:42attack of illness. In some cases they succumb to
- 3:47the feeling and then they become I'll.
- 3:50In other cases, however, they resist the feeling, strengthen
- 3:55their resolve and their vital sheath, and throw off the
- 3:59feeling before it becomes a full blown illness.
- 4:03For some people, adding a physical medium such as an herb
- 4:07or a tea of some sort adds to the mental and vital resolve to
- 4:11strengthen the immune response by convincing the body that it
- 4:16is being helped. Many people report the
- 4:20significant benefit they receive from the use of homeopathic
- 4:24medicines, which have no identifiable active ingredient
- 4:29but are supposed to work solely on the subtle vibrational level.
- 4:331 case in particular that has been brought to our attention
- 4:37involved an individual who was suffering from a severe case of
- 4:41amoebic bleeding dysentery while he was visiting India.
- 4:46He asked about a doctor and was told the best person to see was
- 4:50the local homeopath. He immediately visited this
- 4:54Doctor Who asked a series of seemingly random questions, then
- 4:58prescribed a little sugar pellet of a particular homeopathic
- 5:02remedy and advised that with 15 to 20 minutes the severe
- 5:07abdominal motions and pain would be stopped and the body could
- 5:12then heal from the damage that had been done in the meantime.
- 5:16In fact, the result was exactly that strong Western medicines
- 5:22could not have done better, and in fact were discounted as
- 5:26solutions by those in the know. In that place Srioro Bindu
- 5:32observes quote. Illness marks some imperfection
- 5:37or weakness or else opening to adverse touches in the physical
- 5:40nature, and is often connected also with some obscurity or
- 5:45disharmony in the lower vital or the physical mind or elsewhere.
- 5:51It is very good if one can get rid of illness entirely by faith
- 5:55and yoga power or the influx of the Divine Force.
- 6:00But very often this is not altogether possible because the
- 6:04whole nature is not open or able to respond to the force.
- 6:09The mind may have faith and respond, but the lower vital in
- 6:13the body may not follow. Or if the mind and vital are
- 6:17ready, the body may not respond, or may respond only partially,
- 6:23because it has the habit of replying to the forces which
- 6:27produce a particular illness and habit is a very obstinate force
- 6:32in the material part of the nature.
- 6:34In such cases the use of the physical means can be resorted
- 6:39to, not as the main means, but as a help or material support to
- 6:44the action of the force, not strong and violent remedies, but
- 6:49those that are beneficial without disturbing the body.
