- 0:02Me, your grandmama, me lonely. It's a moment when wow, everywhere
- 0:11I go, catch me on the block like a mutambo seven a utestino,
- 0:16trunk in the front like a shit Dumbo. That magical record button and start
- 0:22the show? What's going on? Everybody? I am the one, the
- 0:25only, the w O Okay, I joined here by the again. I
- 0:30don't know, like we're like sixteen misfits short of a twenty piece nugget.
- 0:34I don't know what's going on, but we have the PhD of key Forge
- 0:37doctor sheet Hello, we have the choke show himself double downing on that name
- 0:43more than ever. The daz cor Yeah. So which nugget am I like?
- 0:48Which nuggish number are shaped? One? Yeah, that's the best one,
- 0:52the boot the bell I forgot one? What is it talking about?
- 0:57The T shirt? Kids love dinas shape nuggets. Kids will tell you that
- 1:02they always take it taste at least ten to twenty percent better if they're dinosaur
- 1:06shaped. Yeah, how can you taste ten percent better? I mean you
- 1:11with the kids right, they would know you wouldn't get it, But we
- 1:15got we gotta invite our special guests this week who got to have a very
- 1:22I don't know what that means. It sounds French, and we're gonna roll
- 1:25with dinner. You might have just pissed off everybody. Listen. AC has
- 1:32been pissing off people since twenty nineteen. And we stopping now. We got
- 1:36mammon, what's going on? Manon? Happy to be here? And we
- 1:41got so far. Yeah, you may be regretting those choices later, and
- 1:44we got stragion. Is it strange and strategy? How do I say it
- 1:49strange? I don't care. Okay, I'll be mispronounced order for pronunciations that
- 1:57people. I just roll with it. Don't worry. I'll be is pronouncing
- 2:00it later. So these two, so this definitely happened to be an avault.
- 2:05When I said hi to med Apps and I was like, hey,
- 2:07so is it like med Apps or do you say it some other way?
- 2:09And he just like looks at me. He's like now, I'm not sure
- 2:13what he wanted to I was like, well, did you say it that
- 2:16way? He's like, I don't know. You know, you made the
- 2:21name. Whatever. But these two fine gentlemen got to have a lovely dinner.
- 2:27They were wined and dined by CTP. To put more money into the
- 2:30Game Found. Then they actually I'm just kidding. I think this was after
- 2:35the Game Found was done. But they did win the contest, the drawing
- 2:39the raffle to have a dinner with CTP. So how was it, guys?
- 2:47Was it everything you hoped for? And you treat you guys like ladies?
- 2:52He sure did? You wind and dined? You did? The food
- 2:55taste ten better being that it was paid for by g If it had been
- 3:02dinosaur shaped it would have. Yeah, I don't know who the who was
- 3:06paying for it made it taste better? Well, I mean, what did
- 3:08you eat? This is the most important question I had some I think it
- 3:13was cherry balsamic glazed salmon. Oh yeh up? This fancy? Yeah,
- 3:21order five things, but I was gonna get something decent. How I went
- 3:25with the primary special? Pretty decent? Yeah, yeah, dessert, So
- 3:34man, order order whatever you guys want. We got that sweet sweet game
- 3:38Found money. You guys already paid for it your money? Pretty sure?
- 3:45This was coming out of the leftover prize pool from this year. Oh yes,
- 3:50yes, it's actually the money they were going to use on the glass
- 3:53trophies. It's but now it's just how it went to dinner. So all
- 3:58right, so we are going to kind of go Stragen was kind enough to
- 4:01give us a thirty seven point by point play. This is like e walk
- 4:08level of like, yeah, maybe we'll find out there's an ridiculous amount of
- 4:17notes that you took string in, like so many notes. So we're going
- 4:21to kind of get a point by point and we are going to a thousand
- 4:25percent get lost along the way because like everybody on this show, we all
- 4:30have add apologies to those out there who actually have add but what what you
- 4:40want to write books? Yeah? Are we even going to get their point
- 4:43six? Yeah? Probably not. So let's start out, okay, and
- 4:46Strangen I believe these are all his notes if I am not. Yeah,
- 4:53So first you do for work that you're so good at note taking? He
- 4:57takes notes, dumb ass, Yeah, just I just take notes for other
- 5:00people in the company. Do have you ever seen those such and such for
- 5:04dummies? That's what Strangen does. He writes those That's what I am.
- 5:10He writes cliff notes for us morons who don't want to actually read the book.
- 5:16I'm setting the bar high for whoever wins this in Baltimore. There you
- 5:19go, all right, so biggest thing. First point First, he says,
- 5:27I do remember him saying that three hundred thousand was going to be considered
- 5:30a wild success for the Woe campaign, and that stands for anyone after any
- 5:38any I'm guessing any game found after it as well. I don't remember if
- 5:43he was including retail sales numbers for that total. So three hundred k is
- 5:46the real Remember we've all asked what's the real number, because we all know
- 5:50it ain't fifty thousand dollars. Sounds like it's three hundred k. I think
- 5:56that number was just crowdfunding, but that was for buying. They had to
- 6:00buy printers with that, right, I mean they had to buy a lot
- 6:01of a lot of stuff. They had printers. They just had to buy
- 6:04packaging material. This was for WHOA, So they had to buy the packaging
- 6:11machine. Yeah maybe, yeah, it was I think with the machine that
- 6:15wraps all the decks were on. I don't know, but anything thereafter three
- 6:24hundred thousand is going to be considered a wild success. And uh, well
- 6:29it's we hit it again, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children
- 6:31of all ages. So good job, question Mark. I don't really know
- 6:41it's enough to keep the lights on and we keep forging keys. We do
- 6:46get to keep forging mega keys. Mega. Yes, I don't know.
- 6:53I'm curious to see what this mega key thing is going to do for us,
- 6:56what it's going to look like. I don't know. We'll see deck
- 7:00coppies are still coming. He sent us. Was it four to six weeks?
- 7:04Is that what they said? What did he say in Times Fame?
- 7:09We did not get a time frame, very dodgy of a time frame for
- 7:13almost anything. We did get a link to a website I think. I
- 7:17don't know if he has that link in the notes, but it's it was
- 7:23something that he said, they're doing print on demand already for a semon game.
- 7:29Yes, so it's like they're doing on demand for some sort of un
- 7:38thank you game of Thrones. That was it. But he did say that
- 7:42storefront page I believe is something like what the intended final version of the key
- 7:49Forge one would look like. But you would go from the master ball,
- 7:53click a button. It would give you a token to be able to purchase
- 7:56your deck, and you'd go to a similar page to that link that he
- 7:59sent us too. He did say Forge I guess Keth Forge has migrated over
- 8:05to forge Fire zero point nine or whatever it was at zero point one.
- 8:09So that was like the big hurdle they had to get past actually making deck
- 8:13printing a reality, and it's it happened with no hiccups, so he said,
- 8:18so you know, it might be closer than we think it might not
- 8:20be. And just so everyone out there in Radio Lanta is a where a
- 8:24WILDI Walk has appeared. If you want to capture there he is. If
- 8:30you want to capture him, get out your master balls now. Uh ewok,
- 8:35what numbered nugget are you? He missed that portion. Well he's the
- 8:41mute nugget. Don't worry about Yeah, he's a mute nugget, right,
- 8:46my nuggets to be mute. So we had talked about dream Trace, solegit,
- 8:50I don't know. I think we talked about on the show. But
- 8:52originally dream Trace was like their VR cafe type deally, which I guess shut
- 8:58down, but that has now become the brand for their little pucks that they
- 9:05saw. I can't lie. I like them. I dig them. They
- 9:07are fun. They are really really good, unbertokens. As much as I
- 9:11hate saying that, because originally I look at them. I touched on,
- 9:16I felt them, and I'm like, these are lame, And the more
- 9:18I use them, I'm like, I actually really like these. So dream
- 9:22Trace ended up being less of a pivot from VR and more like a reuse
- 9:26of a company name that they were already wanting to do tokens. Anyways,
- 9:30I asked what we had to do to get key forge logos on some tokens,
- 9:35and he said, and oh, you gotta will see, and did
- 9:39give it to you in like a dad tone, we'll see kind of.
- 9:43Yeah, there was no wink, but it was sort of implied by the
- 9:46boys, but also condescendingly, Oh you didn't give me what I mean,
- 9:52you didn't get the wink in the gun like yeah, sort of like what
- 9:56E wok talks to you. No, no condescension from me. Also mentioned
- 10:05they're working to the students that are just you know, well, I'm assuming
- 10:11he's at home now. I'm hoping he's still not teaching at eight forty seven
- 10:13on a Thursday. Yeh, I could be, you know, I would
- 10:18hope for his sake. Anyway, all right, Uh, all off.
- 10:24The reason they're making general game tokens they noticed there were fewer and fewer companies
- 10:30doing it compared to a few years ago, and they thought they could try
- 10:31and fill a spot in the market. I don't. I mean, those
- 10:35companies probably went out of business, but sure, I mean you can still
- 10:39buy some of the old FFG ones wearn't on the street like those are I
- 10:45think still being thinured. That was the one he mentioned mostly disappearing from the
- 10:50market, was that DEFFG wasn't making theirs anymore. Got it? All right?
- 10:56So I'm going to read this verbatim here after that, nobody else said
- 11:01added any other top priorities, and we're basically in unanimous agreement that we are
- 11:07willing to do free labor and spend money on kits orders. Okay, yeah,
- 11:15this is this is actually Mammon's notes. Oh then, okay, so
- 11:18these are the bullet points to Stragans. So all right, so let's go
- 11:22to Stragan's notes because these are meticulously like there are a bullets I wish I
- 11:28could put a picture in the note, because there are bullet points, and
- 11:31then there are bullet points within bullet points, and some of those bullet points
- 11:33within bullet points also have bullet points within bullet points. They like, this
- 11:39is crazy, this is how I organized things. So thank you. Yes.
- 11:43So this was while he was eating dinner. So deal was signed two
- 11:48weeks ago. That allows Gigi to just to direct and distribute, but any
- 11:52wholesale distribution will still go through Asthma day. Could we get a little elaboration
- 11:58on that there? So what okay, what are they considering wholesale? So
- 12:03I believe he basically implied that the what they're allowed to sell through the Game
- 12:09Found currently, that deal happened either right before or as the Game Found was
- 12:15launching, because I don't think we had information too much for retailers as to
- 12:22what that was what they were able to buy at the start of the Game
- 12:24Found, And I think part of that was because that that deal was still
- 12:28in the works. But either way, they're allowed to have more contact and
- 12:33more sales direct sEH. If you log into the retailer portal on Ghost Galaxy,
- 12:45you can buy most every product directly through their website now at something near
- 12:54but not quite as good as the rates that I get from Asny. He
- 13:01did describe basically like the kind of what this helped with was even with at
- 13:07Millennium Games, they the product that they sold at Millennium before two weeks prior
- 13:13to you know that deal, they would have had to sol sell all that
- 13:18product to Asbude, which would have then had to sell to Millennium to be
- 13:22able to provide us with all the stuff for for the Vault tour. So,
- 13:28you know, useful less red tape seems to be useful for for situations
- 13:33like that. For sure. It's kind of a little discouraging to hear that
- 13:39the rates are maybe worse than Asbude, but you know, that is what
- 13:43it is, all right. Interesting fact c twop says they need six to
- 13:50eight hundred stores to carry a game to consider it a sustainable success. Is
- 13:54that in general of what ctps I'm guessing his uh, I believe that was
- 14:01in reference to uh stopping game found I think that was just that. Yeah,
- 14:07and like their general like when he was running FFG, like for any
- 14:11game that they would publish, like if they could get into six to eight
- 14:13hundred stores like that was Yeah, regularly that was a success. All right.
- 14:20That's a pretty interesting factoid, right, Like I've never heard them mention
- 14:26specific data like that, or I don't even if ever heard another game company
- 14:30mentioned something like that before, so that the only other game company I've ever
- 14:35heard mention it is believe it or not, Flesh and Blood. Flesh and
- 14:41Blood has mentioned, uh like GameStar participation and I think at one time,
- 14:48you know, they had I don't remember what it was, but in comparison
- 14:52to like some of the other big games, like they were in like thirty
- 14:56three point three percent of game stores across America, which was a very low
- 14:58number in comparison to other large games. So let's see where are we,
- 15:05okay, So currently Q forage is and this is a very broad number.
- 15:13Currently they're in about one hundred to two hundreds range, but it's consistently growing.
- 15:20I guess c CTP is personally making calls and relationships to build the bad
- 15:26will from FFG. That is only with Millennium. He made a point to
- 15:31say that they did contact directly because they weren't super interested in doing anything keyboard
- 15:37wise or vulture wise until they heard directly from GG. Directly from GG or
- 15:45directly from CTP that I can't speak to. Yeah, I don't remember that
- 15:50clearly. It sounded like he was he was doing the calls, but I
- 15:54mean it might have been generalizing gg as a whole. It's got to put
- 15:58Jeremy to work, right, So man, you know Josh is the hype.
- 16:03Hey guys, I'm Jeremy from the Coast Galaxy. All right, I
- 16:08guess some other real quick interesting factoids. These are older ones, but generally
- 16:15he said a game would take them about one to two years. Key Forge
- 16:18took three to four mainly due to deck building. Big issue was printing because
- 16:26it took two minutes to render a deck for printing, and they got that
- 16:30knocked down. Coda originally launched with four hundred thousand displays, which sold extremely
- 16:37quickly. Displays. Yeah, that's he had a calculator out and was calculating
- 16:47how much time it was taken to print all this stuff like solays. That's
- 16:52over four million decks, no way, now, maybe four hundreds. Yeah,
- 17:03we madmon, do you remember. I'm pretty sure that he clarified that
- 17:07and that was displayed because I think we believe he displays. So that's gonna
- 17:11affactor in a lot of people who didn't scan their decks because well, the
- 17:15second print run, that would put the total print run at like ten million
- 17:18for Coda. I mean, there are a lot of decks out there that
- 17:25possibly have never been scanned. They're still a lot. I mean, how
- 17:32many displays do you have sitting in your basement right now? One? Okay
- 17:37and a half. I mean this, this data does not surprise me in
- 17:42the idea that we're expecting. Most people did not scan versus dead like there
- 17:49was there no, no, There were so many people that were just there
- 17:52were just so many people that picked up decks that went ahead and over the
- 17:56pitch correct and it's because you didn't know better to scan them in or do
- 18:02anything with it. So I'm not I'm not surprised by this. Actually,
- 18:06do we know how many coded ex are scanned right now? Well? I
- 18:10think at the time of a million. Yeah, well it was over a
- 18:14million by the time AOA hit, did it not. This is a good
- 18:23question. I thought we were at like one point two one point three when
- 18:26coder released because that A because it fell in line with AOA drop. And
- 18:32then when you scan in your AOA like you got three nimber shards per All
- 18:36right, was what is uh, let's see what r Connor Kanna says.
- 18:40All right, you looked at up. We'll come back to it. Demand
- 18:42for key Forge fell ninety to ninety five around AOA, Slash Worlds Collide MM
- 18:49held the demand steady. DT did not kill See here's my question. Wasn't
- 18:55he out of this company by well before he any of these sets were least
- 19:00he was gone after Coder? Well he was gone after Yeah, I'm kind
- 19:07of and they probably have all those numbers now. No, just because he
- 19:11wasn't there, it doesn't mean he didn't know what was going on. Okay,
- 19:15fair enough, he has friends, He has friends on the other side.
- 19:18Never mind, Yeah, he did not kill the game. I don't
- 19:26know if anybody up like, it wasn't DT who killed it was like that.
- 19:36I mean that the counter would be what evidence do you have that it
- 19:40didn't? Like what are you this on? Like? But what are you
- 19:42basing it on? Is? Well, he doesn't want to say that it
- 19:45was ransomware, right because but we know that, like we know losing the
- 19:52algorithm and the pandemic really hurt everything. Yes, I mean, this isn't
- 19:57This isn't a secret. I think you can blame it on other components that
- 20:03were just listed there versus DT itself. But all of that combined was a
- 20:08really big storm. I blame it on the juice anyways, nobody not a
- 20:15soul. Huh. All right, that's from a song. But it's all
- 20:18right, Okay, you guys don't know pop culture. I don't know why
- 20:22I even try some days. All right. CTP left FFG and took about
- 20:26five employees with him. His goal was to build forge Fire, to both
- 20:32use it for their own games and help print others. He's working on that,
- 20:37help print others to have mind bug Wow, that clearly there's a lot
- 20:42more like I didn't know they were printing Game of Throne Game of Throne stuff.
- 20:48That was the news to me. And I think it's only the print
- 20:52on demand because nothing else was mentioned about that game other than they were doing
- 20:57the print on demand stuff. And again, I'm just going to reiterate this
- 21:06because obviously this is obviously what we all said that five fifty thousand dollars was
- 21:10not their goal. Game Found would have been a huge success at three hundred
- 21:17k, which was their goal, and we all knew that it wasn't fifty
- 21:23thousand dollars like that, that was a ridiculous number, but three hundred thousands,
- 21:29like some of these numbers are interesting to go through because we thought it
- 21:32was going to be much high, Like sheep, you were saying, like,
- 21:36that's not that's not a lot of money. Not, it's not.
- 21:40But three hundred thousands all they needed, I guess. So that also probably
- 21:45did factor in the entire year of woe. They probably expected to get another
- 21:52set right off the bat. I mean, but this was the game found,
- 21:56so I don't know. Uh yeah, the two game found a year.
- 22:03So oh so they need to make three hundred thousand dollars a year per
- 22:07campaign? Oh okay, so it is per campaign? Yeah, okay,
- 22:12whoa was one long year? Right? Yeah. I think probably that original
- 22:19plan, the original number factored in maybe a second set that year. All
- 22:25the delays didn't happen, so they He cites three big mistakes, which I
- 22:30think we've all cited already translations shipping overseas, weird story mistake number three prize
- 22:40money mm hmm. Richard's idea. CTP had with him about it, but
- 22:47caved, wish he doesn't didn't, And here you go, you walk wish
- 22:52he didn't because it's set a precedent. So is Richard Garfield's idea. That
- 22:57is the fuck you Richard Garfield. The magic all that one for the jar
- 23:06there, but we go they're never coming on the show. Maybe they will,
- 23:15they don't listen to this right, probably not. So when I met
- 23:22him ct Atfield and I was talking with him and I was like, hi
- 23:27a Nick, and Josh was like, oh, yeah, this is dasscar.
- 23:32I was like, oh but and then he just gave you a confused
- 23:36side eye and was like, I don't know. That's like he was just
- 23:37like talking to me like a normal person. I was like, okay,
- 23:40So I didn't like to only put them off. He has no idea who
- 23:45we are. I did hand them our business card with our podcast. Why
- 23:51would you do that? Not this time it was it was like KFC KFC.
- 23:56That immediately got thrown in the garbage. Okay, I'm sure it did.
- 24:00I'm sure it did. That's okay, though, I assume everybody who
- 24:03I passed the two throws in the garbage. So it's fine. Be part
- 24:07for the course. Yeah, oh pe kits. Initially he wrote the question
- 24:11off as we're working on it, yep. Yeah, I'm going to leave
- 24:18the big long silence, and that we need old pea kits for local plays
- 24:22so bad there on that. Later, yeah, we we hit that pretty
- 24:30hard with him actually, so yeah, there'll be more on that, all
- 24:33right. Tokens have changed. They wanted a mirror set, and they enjoyed
- 24:37tokens. Did not expect the response it received in a good note or a
- 24:41bad note, good questionable. I mean I kind of got the feel that
- 24:49it was good, but also I think he was a little disheartened that it
- 24:55seemed to be overshadowing some of the Amber Sky's campaign. Yeah, because I
- 25:00don't think it's meant to be. It was more meant to be a very
- 25:03limited, not very limited, but a smaller, you know, in between
- 25:07set, and it's kind of the popularity really took them off guard. Hmm.
- 25:14Interesting. Which is interesting is that is that based on that Hamper Skies
- 25:18really has been a massive letdown for many individuals in the community kind of looking
- 25:23forward at the sets, and as a result, this actually created everybody freaking
- 25:30loves tokens and all their favorite houses that didn't get tokens are going to get
- 25:34tokens. Like what the hell doesn't want logos with tokens like based logos,
- 25:40tokens, bring it baby Free, destroy archive three cards. Sheep's touching himself
- 25:48right now. I mean, I'm picking my nose. Save that for the
- 25:53ones, Save that for the only fans, sir. All right. He
- 25:59brought up people online. Can you give a little bit more context behind that?
- 26:03What do you mean people online? What was the rest of the bulletpoint?
- 26:07I have no idea what it. So he brought up people online concerning
- 26:10they're blowing all their ideas too quick? Oh all right, yeah, so
- 26:15he was. He was basically like, look, we get people online are
- 26:19like freaking out that, like, oh, we're blowing through ideas. There's
- 26:22too many sets. He's like, whoa stop, we have so many ideas
- 26:26we can't even get to like, don't be concerned about that. I think
- 26:32the three sets coming out of this game found and some people making comments of
- 26:37oh, they're just blowing it all here and this is the last one.
- 26:41Well, there has been the statement of the community that basically they're putting it
- 26:45all in here to wrap up shop. And so I think that does go
- 26:48ahead and silence that or provide a potential counter I'm not saying it necessarily does,
- 26:53but that from his marketing standpoint, I think that's what his response is,
- 26:57Hey, we have we have many many ideas, but from the outside,
- 27:02it really seems very questionable that hey, Amber Skies really didn't take off
- 27:07the way that I think they anticipated many in the community anticipated. You had
- 27:11more excitement coming from toke here for tokens of change and the the mass mutations,
- 27:17the extended mass mutations, like it's there. They're in a tough spot
- 27:22because if they gave us a little better road map that was more than three
- 27:29months down the road six months, all right, we get six months with
- 27:33the with the game found, but that's about it, like and after that,
- 27:40that's a lot of how it comes in though, right, Like they
- 27:42they hobbled and then it's like, all right, good enough, and then
- 27:45it gets pushed out. Well, then they need to sit their ass down
- 27:48and build a better roadmap that they can actually do. Like it doesn't have
- 27:52to be huge, Like they can't pull another first celebrations where they didn't yeah,
- 28:00where they made a bunch of promises they couldn't do. They don't want
- 28:02to build that complex of a roadmap. But I got the vibe that was
- 28:04a big little heart of it is they're they're doing better at not over promising
- 28:11and under delivering. But part of that is not promising anything at points mm
- 28:17hmmm, yeah, but they get hammered because they went ahead and stated that
- 28:21they would provide open communication. That was a major issue with FFG. So
- 28:26we came in all of us were super excited, Hey GG is giving us
- 28:30communication, and they offered that and then they fell through on their promises pretty
- 28:33consistently and then just went to silence and that really has hurt the community.
- 28:40And so that has left the sting for many individuals who are left and again
- 28:44the number is dwindling. We have a very, very focused group who is
- 28:48very passionate about the game, but that has an impact on being able to
- 28:52build our player base. Again, I think it's a little down the line,
- 28:57but I did bring up more community interaction at some point. I did
- 29:03think it was interesting that he brought up that criticism. We didn't bring that
- 29:08up. So he means somebody's relaying a lot of this info to him,
- 29:12right, and it's not falling on deaf ears to some extent. Only someone
- 29:18who tunes into these listens to a couple listen. We would never ever criticize
- 29:23on this show. Okay, and if this is the only listen to,
- 29:30you believe that I listen I don't know another show that does a whole lot
- 29:34of criticism criticism, but I would blame help from future self if it like
- 29:41if I just had to throw a dart and cover my eyes, it's their
- 29:45fault. Well, I don't know. I mean I listened to the last
- 29:47episode. They're like, well, this is why only ten people playing Alliance
- 29:51is actually not that bad for Alliance. I was like, uh, like,
- 29:59someone's gonna out of all that optimism. I feel like I'm in uh
- 30:03man, what I can't remember the name of the band it was. It
- 30:07was a band that was a total mock of heavy metal band and the it's
- 30:12this one goes to eleven meme like why not just turn it to ten?
- 30:17This one goes to eleven spinal tap, thank you all right? They are
- 30:26they sold out of Menagerie the stores. Boy, who did they hoodwink to
- 30:32take all that? So I was gonna say it was a good thing that
- 30:37I caught my guy because we were like buying product. He's like, oh,
- 30:41there's like a new set. I'll buy it. And I was like,
- 30:44what you said, what are you talking about? He's like it's called
- 30:48He's like, what is it? Hold on, He's like oh yeah,
- 30:52Managerie or Nagualie. I was like, oh no, no, no,
- 30:55no, no, don't don't buy that garbage. Yeah he was like,
- 31:02yeah, you're saying the same thing. And our store Willie ran into the
- 31:06same issue. Hey guys, guess what we got this. We're so excited
- 31:10for you and we did not catch it. So again, if you just
- 31:15see it as another set that's out there, sure stores will want to try.
- 31:18But again, this hurts the relationship because it is not tournament legal.
- 31:22Can we do and all this stuff like can we at least make them on
- 31:29glued sets or something like that, as opposed to they're not. No,
- 31:33they're not, Oh you want a bunch of you want a bunch of stupid
- 31:37crazy cards at it. So there are players in Madison who were excited because
- 31:42they don't go to vall tours, so this is one of their first chances
- 31:45to actually get Menagerie debts, and then if they haven't back there are players
- 31:49who care it just happens to be that are very smini immediate. Yeah,
- 31:56okay, it's not that disappointing. Is fun? I would like I think
- 32:01it's I think it's fun too in your locals, But again, the community
- 32:06base that is remaining to this day seems to be a little bit more focused,
- 32:09whether you're talking about onlines from PL to ABR to like two vaults,
- 32:19they're a little bit more focused and in tune with what's actually happening, and
- 32:22so having decks that are not tournament legal, poll they next the next two
- 32:31you know, intermediate sets are both tournament legal, right, So I mean
- 32:35maybe that's a trajectory they're trying to move towards because maybe they realized that that
- 32:39was a mistake with Unchained and Menagerie. Did you guys talk to them at
- 32:44all about the impact of the number of sets because this Game Found did open
- 32:50up other sets to basically purchase in a year. Yeah, they touched on
- 32:54that earlier. Well I wasn't here, I'm sorry, Yes, we very
- 33:00little, a little bit. They have tons of ideas, no, I
- 33:05mean, but outside of that, the idea that it actually has an impact
- 33:09on those because because you're not looking at a ton of stores, you know,
- 33:14they want to be able to improve to six to eight hundred stores.
- 33:17Right now we're in one hundred to two hundred range. That impact is you
- 33:22can see on Game Found how many people are actually backing. But if you
- 33:25split up and we have these additional sets that are potentially going out to stores,
- 33:29people seem split on Hey, should I be supporting this Game Found or
- 33:32should I be supporting the store? But now I'm going to be running three
- 33:37sets coming at the same time. How much money do you have? I
- 33:39mean, there is a captive amount of money that people cannot just afford.
- 33:43Hey, I'm going to get that X, Y, and Z all at
- 33:45the same time. Is going to be less of each product as a results.
- 33:50That was marm So, go ahead, Matt. So he basically said,
- 33:54they want and this is kind of a tangent to your question, but
- 33:57I think will help guide the discussion. So he said that they want two
- 34:00main sets a year that are the Game Found base right, and then in
- 34:02between those sets they want there they're planning for the future there will be intermediate
- 34:07sets between those two main sets, so we're looking at four sets a year.
- 34:12However, he did say mass more mutation is going is they're planning on
- 34:16that being an extremely limited run. So I don't know, I mean,
- 34:27because that's that's the thing, like you're I fear that releasing it and then
- 34:31all of a sudden, this extraordinarily limited set becomes extraordinarily tournament relevant, and
- 34:39that's a reality. Whether it's a it's a I think that a part of
- 34:50In the description, it says they may be part of future campaigns if it
- 34:53does go over that well it does sell super well at stores. They did
- 34:58open themselves up to printing more right. I think it says in the description
- 35:05on the game found or somewhere in there in the announcement that they'll never sell
- 35:08it directly, but it may be a part of future campaigns. So they
- 35:13left that door open, which is wise. Right. They're gonna see how
- 35:17it does a year. I think the antent is for two main sets,
- 35:22right, and two more limited debts. I don't know what limited set will
- 35:27mean. I mean it looked like, well, it seems like that's what
- 35:30tokens are change was supposed to be. But because of the demand, it's
- 35:34not going to be so limited anymore. Yeah, I just I yeah,
- 35:40I stated my worries already. At some point in there, he did say
- 35:45that. I think he was addressing how much money people were talking about spending.
- 35:52He did say that all card games are a luxury good, and all
- 35:57competitive players are gonna have to put some amount of money into it, and
- 36:00probably not the answer we all want to hear. But they're okay with us
- 36:05not having every cool deck in every set if that's what we can buy.
- 36:10I don't think anybody is ever going to have every cool deck in every set.
- 36:15I mean, I still don't have an art Coon deck. I can
- 36:16play a Vault Tour. It's not right now. I've been you know,
- 36:23it's been five years. You know, That's all I'm saying something along the
- 36:30lines of not everyone is going to be able to buy one hundred decks of
- 36:34every set, because that's not what the goal is. It's to have a
- 36:37variety out there so you can buy what you want. I just about the
- 36:44new player coming in and being like, oh man, this is the dominant
- 36:47set running the meta right now right and then them not being able to get
- 36:52it, and that if that is going to put be like, well,
- 36:54if I can't get it, that means if they do reprint it, which
- 37:00they've left the door opened for, it'll sell a lot, maybe, which
- 37:04is good. I think you are really chasing a JM pointless trail there.
- 37:09Maybe maybe not. I mean that the freaking g R I can buy it,
- 37:16and it still doesn't mean I get to compete because the top ax is
- 37:20still really hard to open. You could open a good deck, but one
- 37:23that actually plays at the top level is still so stupidly rare. It's it's
- 37:29terrible. Yeah, well terrible, but that's the cars or whatever. I
- 37:37don't know, all right, So why do crowdfunding? The answer was they
- 37:40can't survive on retail alone. It's basically free marketing. There you go,
- 37:45JR. There's your marketing. Their marketing is going into and interest in new
- 37:54sets until they can build back up a healthy store population, they will continue
- 38:00them. So basically until they are able to get into enough stores to stand
- 38:05on their own two feet, they're going to continue to do ground funding.
- 38:09But this is robbing Peter to pay Paul. I don't know. That's kind
- 38:13of how I look at it. Yeah, but we don't like Peter,
- 38:17so yeah, okay, fuck Peter. Yeah, thank you for your donation.
- 38:28How do you get a good store community when you're selling everything on game
- 38:35found the Saint Magic kits, no Peak kids, good ones. Yeah,
- 38:45online play, they looked into it. Two a million buck Rooney is to
- 38:52do an online build, which they cannot do. They thought about partners and
- 38:59cutting that cost down through other means, but have figured haven't figured anything out.
- 39:04Sounds like it's not off the table for the future, but they realize
- 39:07the importance of online and especially TCO. He knows it's saved the game.
- 39:13Thank you, TCO. Yay, I appreciate even that acknowledgment. I think
- 39:17that's important. Free labor yay. Oh no, no, no, no,
- 39:22yes, you're one hundred percent right on for your labor. But the
- 39:23end result is there's acknowledgment that TCO saved this game during a very very dark
- 39:29time when we're in between loss of the algorithm and everything else. It's very
- 39:35important to this community. They can't do it right now, but at least
- 39:37they're giving some recognition to TCO and everyone who has been on that side to
- 39:43make sure it works. He was he was spitballing a little bit during that
- 39:46discussion, Like you can almost see he was like thrown out. Like they've
- 39:50they've had discussions. They've clearly been talking about this and they clearly don't know
- 39:53what to do, but they realize the importance of online play, you know,
- 40:00And he was like, look, maybe we can partner with a company
- 40:02and it'll knock it down a little bit. Maybe we could throw some money
- 40:05at TCO to you know, improve their you know interface. He's like,
- 40:08I don't know, you know, he was. He was throwing out a
- 40:10lot of ideas, so I don't want to you know, obviously set a
- 40:14precedent for like he said this, he was he was spitballing some thoughts.
- 40:19So it's clearly something they're thinking about, but it's definitely not a not a
- 40:23top priority and something they can't really invest in right now with all their other
- 40:28focus like mine. They Doug just like, no, no, no,
- 40:37you got bad things to say. They're not focusing on mind bug no mind
- 40:42bug is there? Yeah, everybody, Lots of people out there understand my
- 40:49jet. I asked about GG sponsoring tournaments or promotions with t c O and
- 40:54it was not something has considered. But he didn't seem to be against the
- 41:00idea. When I mentioned this, his gears seemed to be spinning. Was
- 41:05just said, spin those gears spinning the gears, Well they can they can
- 41:10take away the top spot on t c O from the z score advertisement that
- 41:15we've got running there. Yes, yeah, all right, what else has
- 41:23paid for a spot, So I guess we're up there for a while to
- 41:27somebody else, Do you just that's because nobody's running anything. Yeah, what
- 41:36like Florence should be advertising. Hey, Keyboard Premier League is on there right
- 41:42now. Okay, of course it also requires you going to the crucible web
- 41:47page top thing, which do you know I never go to Yeah, I
- 41:52never go to that either. Let me all right. Alliance is a format
- 41:58that is sticking around. It comes from the fact that they have dropped ninety
- 42:04to ninety five percent of players. CTP describes players buying decks and having the
- 42:08idea of I got this new deck, my old ones become trash. They
- 42:15want players to feel like the Ghigher collection can slash is useful. Alliance exists
- 42:21due to an emotional reaction to your old decks because they don't want players to
- 42:25feel like their old collection is useless and then drop the game. Did you
- 42:32guys then explain to him on why that isn't true? No, he commands
- 42:37the room. Pretty well, we weren't allowed to do that, Oh,
- 42:43teacher, you should have just put the cardboard next to you, like,
- 42:49let me tell. Let me FaceTime this person and have him tell you why
- 42:52that's wrong. So there, if I'm not mistaken, there was one or
- 42:55two like Alliance players at that dinner. Did they ask, say, make
- 43:04any statements about Alliance at all? Or were they like they stated two questions
- 43:08above. Yeah, really, we don't really have anybody else talk. It's
- 43:15pretty Yeah, our heroes are the ones who are speaking, So we appreciate
- 43:21you guys. Mark. Rarely am I ever accused of commanding our table.
- 43:23And I was so to be quiet at point men let the others talk,
- 43:30so right, and then they just mostly not ask questions. I think,
- 43:36yeah, so no, I mean, I do think he made some valid
- 43:44points with Alliance, you know before I don't I don't disagree, you know,
- 43:51but I do think, you know, and I think my next bullet
- 43:53point is basically, you know, we kind of push him a little bit
- 43:55on like the high level play is just like, I mean, none of
- 43:59my decks, none of my pods can even remotely compete, right, and
- 44:04that's that. And he's like, look, it is what it is.
- 44:06That's any high play of any any card game, right, So it almost
- 44:09Alliance ahead. It almost sounding like the idea of Alliance sticking around is not
- 44:16as competitive focused as the rest of the game. He did also bring up
- 44:22that new players could open a deck and look at the pod and start brewing
- 44:28something in their minds, so that one, almost to me, seemed more
- 44:32focused around the kitchen table. Maybe just one more and I can make a
- 44:38cool Alliance deck kind of people, then maybe this group we are the crackiest
- 44:45of the crackheads who like, yeah, but you're not gonna do it for
- 44:47Alliance. Listen, I have delved down the Alliance rabbit hole. It's a
- 44:54dark place. Like it's not It is a very frustrating realm. Yeah,
- 45:05I mean I Alliance isn't going anywhere. Uh, that's what I think.
- 45:09I just I don't know. I really wish I would have been able to
- 45:15speak on this topic. Like there's a lot of times. So I really
- 45:16appreciate you guys speaking up and saying some of the items. I hear,
- 45:21some of the argument that's being proposed. We've seen it in the past.
- 45:25I'm just really struggling. We are not going ahead and attracting CCG players.
- 45:31That's not what this game is at right now. We should be investing,
- 45:36in my opinion, more into a board game section actually doing some marketing.
- 45:40We've beat that dead horse for a very very long beat it again. But
- 45:46I think the idea, I think the idea for going ahead and saying new
- 45:52players can go ahead and create Alliance. Unfortunately, when you're looking at a
- 45:58vault tour level around your kitchen table or even in your locals, I think
- 46:01that alliance can be fun. I think that it can offer another opportunity,
- 46:06but I think as soon as you have a disparity and amount of decks between
- 46:09players, so any new player coming in has a huge disadvantage when we go
- 46:14ahead and look at Alliance, I just I don't see the reason for the
- 46:20investment of resources because what I'm seeing up above is we're limited on monetary resources,
- 46:27and we've heard for a long time we're limited on physical individuals for as
- 46:31a resource. Then why are we going ahead and putting this out there.
- 46:37I don't think it requires a lot of resources. There's a split for our
- 46:43community, and it's requiring again, if we're running multiple tournaments. I mean,
- 46:46you could have had one tournament that had sixty six players as opposed to
- 46:52two tournaments one had fifty five, one had ten. The idea for splitting
- 46:58for checking in and things of that's or does take a little bit at the
- 47:01level of a Vault Tour, Like there's the potential that if they didn't have
- 47:07Alliance, there would have just been eight less players, Like I don't,
- 47:10I don't. I don't actually think this holds any water anymore. Both events
- 47:16are firing. Does it matter if Tennant will play a different format than you?
- 47:21And again, I think a lot less of what he was saying was
- 47:23focused on the Vault Tour level. I think it's cool maybe nucleers to watch
- 47:30the high level stuff pop off at a Vault Tour level, but I think
- 47:34most of what he's talking about as Alliance as a format is at your store
- 47:38and kitchen table level. Yep, that's the vibe I got too. So
- 47:45he's just going in lets other players know that it exists elsewhere. So he's
- 47:52still viewing this game very much from not the dedicated hardcore group, which is
- 48:00pretty much are just still around. That's what I mean. We have to
- 48:05look across the spectrum. I understand looking across the spectrum, but right now,
- 48:08the people who are spending money are not that spectrum. You are.
- 48:15You are organizing to a group that does not exist. You're not. It
- 48:22has been said before that the majority of sales are not to the whales.
- 48:28It is still to And I'm just a hard numbers those are playing again.
- 48:35I'm having a hard time believing that seeing these numbers kind of like you're looking
- 48:38at the next Game Found campaign kind of mirroring the same thing that it did
- 48:45the last campaign, just less. And if there's one thing we all know,
- 48:51there's a bunch of people who left who are not spending the money.
- 48:54The's gone, right, Jason's gone. Some of these people who are willing
- 49:00to spend big dollars, they're gone. I don't know what that direct because
- 49:06I've never I've never totaled it out. But does it fill that gap?
- 49:12I mean, you're you're looking at numbers that are remarkably the same. I
- 49:17would really like to know, like, Okay, what like? And I
- 49:22guess really from a Game Found, all they can do is email addresses,
- 49:24right, So like, what what are the new email addresses you're getting in
- 49:30this campaign that you didn't get last campaign? And how much growth are you
- 49:35showing? Are you showing any growth or are you just showing the good clients
- 49:38that that brings it back to you know, we talked about earlier like they're
- 49:43they're in one to two hundred stores right now, and they're targeting growth,
- 49:45right. I think that that's he didn't talk really about you know, Wales
- 49:51or big spenders. He's they're targeting like longer term, greater player numbers and
- 49:57slower growth that way, not not just all right, So let's let's pretend
- 50:01for a second that he's actually right there and we're wrong. So let's pretend
- 50:07for a second that that I know is this magical pretend land right, So
- 50:13let's pretend let's last four hundred thousand, that four hundred thousand was displays.
- 50:21Let's pretend that was correct, not decks. Four hundred thousand displays, that
- 50:24is four point eight million coded decks in the first print run, not the
- 50:30second print run. The first print run. Yep, So far there are
- 50:34somewhere the around one point three million coded decks registered and total number of key
- 50:39Forge decks is a little over three point two million. So until they find
- 50:45a bunch of print run CODA sitting in that warehouse, maybe, so it's
- 50:50plausible that CTP is like, I have more decks that sold in the first
- 50:54three weeks than sold than have been registered in the entire history of the game.
- 51:00So like I'm thinking about the all these decks that have just never been
- 51:07registered. So I hear your dress score. But my question is when the
- 51:12game was hot. This game was hot and you could not find it anywhere.
- 51:15It went out to the mess populace. It was the new hot item.
- 51:19At this point, you now have a new company that is running it.
- 51:22You now have multiple years, you have a pandemic, you have multiple
- 51:25sets. There is a lot of new hotness in many, many other games
- 51:30that I cannot imagine they're not looking at what decks are basically being scanned in
- 51:36right now versus what they're going ahead and selling and seeing that difference, I
- 51:39cannot imagine that that is still the same threshold that we saw from Coda.
- 51:45Coda just was an amazing response. You caught a fire in a bottle with
- 51:50Coda correct and you saw and he even stated at his numbers in the beginning
- 51:55to ninety five percent players off between that point and time. So you caught
- 52:02lightning in a bottle. A lot of people tried it and said meh,
- 52:07not for me, and left m So is he trying to regain that ninety
- 52:15to ninety five percent that bought one deck five years ago. I don't know.
- 52:19I mean in this, in this magical make believe land, they're they're
- 52:24still a proportional. Even if it's not quite that extreme. There's still a
- 52:29lot more decks that are being sold than registered. And he's looking at that
- 52:34data that pos can't see that. And and again that's the kind of vibe
- 52:38by God. Was that that's what they're looking at when they make decisions like
- 52:45that, You know they're they're looking at overall sales versus what gets registered.
- 52:49Obviously, we all registered all of our decks as soon as they're open.
- 52:55Just like I said, they're all responsible. Don't be so sure on that
- 52:59one. I have redistering decks A long time ago. I got plenty of
- 53:04unregistered sheep decks in my backpack. I just put them in other people's bags.
- 53:07And guess what, i'n't register him neither. All right, So again,
- 53:16where were we? I lost my spot? All right? This one,
- 53:20you're gonna have to kind of do a little uh again, a little
- 53:22context, little elaboration. He really doesn't want to commit to video slash interviews,
- 53:30et cetera. Oh yeah, so this is where I was talking about
- 53:32community interaction, okay, and I was saying it was important that anything at
- 53:37all is good, a tweet, a video. I think we brought up
- 53:43the old Crucible casts and he said, well, we can't admit commit to
- 53:45anything like that, and I jokingly said, instead of a month, I'll
- 53:51take every quarter. But like I was kind of just saying that anything you
- 53:57make at all is good. It shows communication. Even if you're not telling
- 54:02us anything new, you're telling us that you're working on stuff. Maybe have
- 54:07Jeremy and Josh played a game on stream once once a quarter. It'll be
- 54:13so crazy they make you know, oh yeah, and they'll get harassed online
- 54:16endlessly. But I would watch that, like, just have Hurley just crush
- 54:22all the other players. But I was trying to get them to understand that
- 54:28any thing, any community interaction at all is good. And I think you
- 54:32focus a little too hard on the video aspect and the Crucible cast comparison,
- 54:37and said he didn't want to commit to anything as serious as video. I
- 54:44would I would add in. I would add in that we would like to
- 54:46see it in their centralized location, so that means on their YouTube channel,
- 54:52where everything should be coming out here's our rules update, here's what Because that's
- 54:55the problem, do we We don't even need a video, we don't need
- 55:00no no, no podcast. We can take the articles we got it from
- 55:04here, brou But I'm telling you what needs to happen is that we can't,
- 55:09unfortunately, have a side dinner conversation where we're releasing information that wasn't elsewhere.
- 55:16There should be a centralized information system to disseminate information. There is.
- 55:22It's called keyforging dot com. No because because because this whole conversation here did
- 55:32not happen on key forging dot com. No, you're correct, and this
- 55:36is a conversation and this obviously couldn't have been on key forging dot com.
- 55:39However, we bare minimum. I don't see why we don't have at least
- 55:45an article a month, maybe every other week update, even if it's dumb
- 55:53shit. Right, we've commended them on doing dumb ship articles. Nows we
- 55:59we dumb shit we sure do. We're doing it right now. Yeah,
- 56:05okay, so I mean, you know, just something to let us know,
- 56:12like maybe we'd get c twop's blood pressure this week. I don't know
- 56:19who clugged the toilet most recently, it was Josh. Uh, It's always
- 56:23Josh, you know, like something like because like there we go three,
- 56:29four or five weeks and we're like, hey, this game still exists,
- 56:32right, I mean because like literally what was the last when's the last vault?
- 56:37Touri? No? August would be Nationals? Right? Is there anything
- 56:42planned after Nationals? Well? Right, but like right now there's nothing planned
- 56:49after Nationals? Right that they need to have a little better road map.
- 56:54Yeah, oh well okay from Nationals the KFC, there's nothing right Baltimore's yeah,
- 57:07story something which I am excited to see what's up with that, But
- 57:10like there's a good shot we don't hear jack Ship during that time besides a
- 57:15new game found. Well, we might hear more about the set we already
- 57:21know about, right, But then I'm just shaying. I'm just saying like
- 57:23there needs to be more something and I don't know what it is, but
- 57:30like it needs to be captivating. It needs to be actual news. It
- 57:34can't be like this is how we print decks. Yeah, no Ship,
- 57:37You print them on a giant printer, a machine cuts them out and wraps
- 57:39them. Like that's a totally reasonable I mean, you just said you wanted
- 57:45his blood pressure print. Come on, But like we've seen it four fucking
- 57:51dimes, now we get it. You can do something like maybe you do
- 57:54a tournament, a tournament, Maybe you do do do do like a walk
- 57:59around the off Maybe we find Janet in the dumpsters. I just I just
- 58:05think they should be playing KeyForge in random different locations. I still like our
- 58:08idea of playing keyboards in a little kiddie pool, having the waterproof cards or
- 58:13sleeps. Me and Dan will be doing that later this year when we are
- 58:16in that dodgy location for UH for gen Con, We're also bringing a kiddie
- 58:23pool. I brought gogglins for Dan. He said he doesn't like water in
- 58:29his eyes. Play wetter. Yeah he's got he's got goggles in a little
- 58:32snorkle. Instead of shredding the car, you just dun't it in the pool.
- 58:36Just dun't get this cone forever, all right? So this one again,
- 58:39maybe give us a little more context. Before the new deal two weeks
- 58:43ago, which I'm assuming was the new deal we talked about earlier. Could
- 58:46couldn't have had Millennium sell us key forage products. That's what we talked about
- 58:54earlier about all the stuff that came from with them from the ball tour.
- 59:00Because the Vault Master decks, all the merchandise was purchased directly from Millennium.
- 59:06There was no GG register at this vault, So before that deal, that
- 59:10couldn't have happened because all of that would have had to have been fed through
- 59:14Asbida to Millennium and probably cost a whole lot more because of it. Did
- 59:22he talk about the new deal or like implications. I mean, we say
- 59:28their announcement. So I'm surprised that hasn't happened yet because we've we've had the
- 59:32wild idea that Asbade is on the hook for a whole bunch of decks,
- 59:38like they have to buy axibon of decks from GG YadA YadA, saw on
- 59:44it and so forth. I guess we'll we'll talk about that when that time
- 59:46comes. Yeah, we didn't get any specifics on that. Man, you
- 59:50never will. He does understand concerns of high level Alliance play not being fun,
- 59:58but said that's an issue with any card game with that decking, which
- 1:00:01thankfully key Ford doesn't have. That that's tomorrow problem. Guys, don't worry
- 1:00:08about it today. Tomorrow. I mean, I think right now, Alliance
- 1:00:14might be the most fun out of the well between ARCon and Alliance. I
- 1:00:22had a lot of fun playing I had more fun playing Alliance than I did
- 1:00:23ARCon. But do you have alling well the biggest problem I have with Alliance,
- 1:00:30and I don't think this is a problem that he could ever understand or
- 1:00:35is you know, number one, you have to go out and find a
- 1:00:37pod. You know, once you found the pod, you have to contact
- 1:00:40the person if they even want to sell the damn thing. It's not like
- 1:00:45I can wookie, no, that's not high level Alliance. You just need
- 1:00:52to take what is in your collection. That's not high Alliance works at all.
- 1:00:58And we all what what no way, No, I do not believe
- 1:01:02you. I mean, you know, it's just that's that's not it.
- 1:01:07And I had a great pod that I wanted to try, but it was
- 1:01:10like I got to reach out to the number one. I gotta find I
- 1:01:14got to find this person. Then after I have found this person, I
- 1:01:19got to find the pod first. Then I got to find who owns the
- 1:01:22deck, because that's not always information that's available. Then after I have found
- 1:01:28whoever owns it, I find if they even want to sell it to even
- 1:01:30begin trying to test it. But what about all of those? I mean,
- 1:01:35you're really only looking on decks that are registered. That's only one out
- 1:01:39of one hundred decks, right, nobody knows, so you should really be
- 1:01:45looking at the other ninety nine decks in your collection or that exist out there.
- 1:01:50Those are also registered so well, actually not the shit that she gives
- 1:01:54me, but I mean, they're not in my collection. I've looked.
- 1:01:59Now if if he wants to open it up and be like, you know,
- 1:02:02build whatever, no set restriction. Yeah, maybe we got something though,
- 1:02:12but they put it the set restriction rule. I don't know if no
- 1:02:15set restriction makes it better or worse. It probably makes it worse. I'm
- 1:02:17not gonna lie to anybody. Star Champs are once a year. No plans
- 1:02:23to change that? Was that a plan that we all wanted change the second
- 1:02:29set of events to go with the second second? Yeah? That was exactly
- 1:02:32it was. That question was or that answer was in relation to what are
- 1:02:37the plans between Amber Skies and worlds. They are working on other O pie
- 1:02:45stuff to bridge the gap between sets, yep, I mean that's what we
- 1:02:53need. So but you know, four to six to eight to twenty ten
- 1:03:00to twelve weeks. Yes, there will need to be reasons to come out
- 1:03:04to our stores to continue to have you come out week after week. There
- 1:03:07are reasons that people want to play, which would then go ahead and bring
- 1:03:12money to stores and increase our amount of stores. There will be cadences of
- 1:03:19slow periods slash active periods, but they have plans for every release and hope
- 1:03:23to surprise us. So they saying times where we don't talk to you,
- 1:03:30guys, get used to it. Also, I'm assuming the surprise is something
- 1:03:34like the more mutation, So like, what's the what's the DT version of
- 1:03:39more Mutation? Oh god? This thing stem from under the see more water.
- 1:03:47You're vault tours and store champs supporting gr right, and so we're like,
- 1:03:53look, what's going to support Amber Sky because there's nothing on the calendar.
- 1:03:55So that's where this conversation stemmed from. Oh so something something, something
- 1:04:02we just I mean, he yeah, there Obviously he can't talk about it,
- 1:04:08but that's because they haven't figured it out yet. I mean that's not
- 1:04:11true, CEO the god damn Company, you can talk about whatever the fuck
- 1:04:15he wants. What is he an answer to God, Hey, well,
- 1:04:19you gotta get this guy out of control. I have no control here.
- 1:04:24Man. Well, no, it's just it's so upsetic when people we can't
- 1:04:27talk about that. Yeah, you're the CEO, you own the company.
- 1:04:30You are allowed to speak on whatever you want. Don't be like what I
- 1:04:34can't talk about that yet. Well, I do find it funny, like
- 1:04:38you learned his lesson about saying anything about the future. Yeah, I think
- 1:04:44that's it. Yes, I'm gonna have back feet. I did get a
- 1:04:46little I was close to the mic and yelling all at the same time.
- 1:04:51So, so, how many of these bullet points have we been asking for?
- 1:04:56Other podcasts been asking for for a considerable amount of time. I appreciate
- 1:05:00that he answered, and so I do like that. But man, did
- 1:05:03you guys try getting him to do shots to see if he would say you
- 1:05:11were getting anywhere near shots? He ordered a lass of wine? What kind
- 1:05:14of wine did he order? Two reds? Two redskin. I kind of
- 1:05:17took him as a bourbon gay, like I figured he'd sip on like like
- 1:05:23not good bourbon. But like what am I thinking of like a like a
- 1:05:27maker's mark? Maybe not at dinners where there's six people that may start harassing
- 1:05:31him at any moment. We didn't let him eat for three hours, that
- 1:05:36is true. He got about three bites into that steak. Oh he ordered
- 1:05:41a steak. Great, Neil Lamb. All right, they have an overall
- 1:05:47skeleton of new ideas for future sets. Prophetic Visions is not designed yet,
- 1:05:56but please join the game found in August. Well, I mean they have
- 1:06:00a little bit of time, but but so was anything should have been developed
- 1:06:04year. I don't know about that, but but the biggest ballenge so like,
- 1:06:11they don't have that much in the way of staff actually designing these games.
- 1:06:15And apparently you are testing very hard, so hold on. So we
- 1:06:21don't have staff to make new sets. We don't have staff to create organized
- 1:06:28play. We don't have staff. Besides, vault tours remind me of Josh
- 1:06:34because I'm about to I'm about to go deep in this ship. We have
- 1:06:40vault tours. We have that. That's it. We don't have anything.
- 1:06:43I'm talking locally, like, there's no reason for Peter Our, our other
- 1:06:47local that's been m i A for some time, to even show his face.
- 1:06:51He's playing another game. Well, yeah, he is playing Star Wars
- 1:06:55Unlimited, which does have stuff to give away. We can offer him losses
- 1:07:03and witty sheep banters, yeah, and Sheep's trash dex. I mean decks
- 1:07:14like there's nothing to offer. And even during the Star Championships that was probably
- 1:07:17the best time we had to offer stuff and he still didn't show so,
- 1:07:24like, I mean, he might have not known there was stuff too,
- 1:07:26but you know, we we had nothing to offer anyone to come play with
- 1:07:30us. We do get to that later on. Okay, I'm just saying,
- 1:07:36like we don't. We don't have staff for all these problems. What
- 1:07:40is your staff doing, sir? So you you went down that road.
- 1:07:45I just keep looking at prophetic visions not designed yet, which makes you sad
- 1:07:48because we do know the cadence and what the trajectory was for FFG. And
- 1:07:54again this is a much smaller company, very very different set design and expectation.
- 1:07:59But he if you need to have the cards they design us when the
- 1:08:02game Found was going to be released, did they not? Was that not
- 1:08:10themselves a nice deadline? Yes, But I'm telling you you need to have
- 1:08:14the artwork that is going to be created, which is going to take time.
- 1:08:17They're going to go yet. I don't just send it over me and
- 1:08:24Sheep will design the set. It won't be busted at all. Am I
- 1:08:28picturing ms painted. I mean the less they tested, the better a chance
- 1:08:32it hasn't beaten g R. That's true, all right. Did they address
- 1:08:38testing or like design time or anything like that? Said they're always looking for
- 1:08:44more testers, yeah, opinions, but well you need more free labor.
- 1:08:54Mm hmm oh the words. Anyways, Jeremy is working on some sort of
- 1:08:59map or something to help go Jeremy co like the wording on this is actually
- 1:09:08probably so perfect it hurts you say a map or something, but what really
- 1:09:14is They assigned him health and safety and he's making the emergency extra maps for
- 1:09:17the now. He's wearing a green vest, a hard hatt, and safety
- 1:09:21glasses or the out He goes around and he makes Josh put on safety glasses
- 1:09:28fully coded in Ppe from head to toel. Okay, So Jeremy's working on
- 1:09:33some sort of map or something to help players public, to help player players
- 1:09:40publish where is happening so players can see stars similar to Star Championship map and
- 1:09:46engage with other players. Sounds like a priority, but he really didn't give
- 1:09:51details other than they're currently working on something and understand it's needed. Isn't Jeremy's
- 1:09:58job marketing? That is marketing? Is it marketing? Sure? You can
- 1:10:04play the game, all right? Fair enough? It sounds like this right
- 1:10:15for store Champs, I think his own time, because he's just like,
- 1:10:23yeah, he's just like right at the Googles, like all the kids and
- 1:10:26PIDs. They're they're probably trying to make something a little more official for their
- 1:10:30website, maybe Google Maps. It is all right, He genuinely he was
- 1:10:40genuinely surprised that we want to run local events and want to buy kits,
- 1:10:46slash half media, et cetera. He talked about their long list of priorities,
- 1:10:51but after talking with him for a while on this, he said,
- 1:10:56this may need to get pushed up the priority list. Are you so specifically
- 1:11:02this is in reference to the community kits that they talked about back in twenty
- 1:11:09two, Yeah, which is the equivalent of just generic store level play stuff.
- 1:11:14Yeah. So we brought up basically that in lieu of structured op if
- 1:11:21you can give the community anything to work with, we'll run with it physical
- 1:11:28digital assets, like, just give us stuff and we will start doing the
- 1:11:32work. And then the more structured stuff can come later, but to get
- 1:11:36new people in, to retain people, we need things I can't even with
- 1:11:42this. Are you serious? He was genuinely surprised. I think the phrasing
- 1:11:48on the note is a little He was surprised about store op. He was
- 1:11:55surprised that we were willing to do as much footwork as was unanimously agreed at
- 1:12:00the table. We have been asking I'm gonna get real close to our microphone
- 1:12:05here. We have been asking thank you dead boys for a year and a
- 1:12:14half for anything, literally anything. Give us just a morsel of some stuff
- 1:12:23I can give away to new players to make them enticed, to buy your
- 1:12:29to give you money, and to keep them coming back. An I'll say,
- 1:12:34just a sliver of cheese, please, sir? May I have some
- 1:12:40more? You gotta be kidding? It could be cheese food even hey,
- 1:12:44we could go ahead and turn that into amber tokens. Cheese cool. We
- 1:12:47did use cheese at one time as as ember. It did happen I now
- 1:12:53here. On a few occasions we have talked about this, and we've definitely
- 1:12:57asked for kids by and you guys agreed with me. We're also pretty adamant
- 1:13:00on like they need to do a little more work. So it isn't always
- 1:13:05the community doing all the work. I have no p I'm not that amount.
- 1:13:13I'm not clear from this thing. If it's he's surprised we want kids?
- 1:13:16Are he's surprised how we're everybody's willing to bend over backwards to do the
- 1:13:20free work? I think it was the second one. Yeah, Well,
- 1:13:25in mind the notes were written, you know, alf way after the dinner
- 1:13:29to our discord, so we're not meant to be stream level. You know,
- 1:13:33Sorry you were at the car, so I copy paste. There are
- 1:13:43different on a different levels of support. People want to put it all right,
- 1:13:47some of us have been doing it for so long, we're maybe a
- 1:13:50little less interested in doing lots of free work. We've already got our time
- 1:13:56in. But like it's not there are a lot of people that's still will
- 1:13:59though. Sure, but like what we all know what we're We're asking for
- 1:14:03some level of prize support and we'll do the rest. Yep, which is
- 1:14:12I mean, I don't know how many times he's been asked for that directly
- 1:14:17to his face, Uh, bastion, I'd say, what's his phone number?
- 1:14:23And did you guys get that was that one of the questions you asked
- 1:14:25like five five, we probably could have gotten this credit card, that is
- 1:14:30another that's another bottle of wine, wikie. I mean, this is just
- 1:14:36this, This absolutely blows my mind. Okay, next point, I asked
- 1:14:48about pas you he said, no more like us question okay, uh,
- 1:14:57he said no presence for a while, but Jacob said, what if we
- 1:15:00did a grassroots campaign? He didn't see him against it. I spoke with
- 1:15:05Josh later and he said he could put together a prize kit and maybe convince
- 1:15:11CPT to give us a deck display to rush it too. Josh was three
- 1:15:15beers. Gosh, is that an accurate count of the beers that were that
- 1:15:19night? I mean, as long as it's not more chain trackers and haunted
- 1:15:25carts. Maybe is local to our area. So we were kind of talking
- 1:15:31about things we could do without having to travel or rent a booth things like
- 1:15:38that. All right, Well, I at least they're willing to talk to
- 1:15:47you about running events at cons without them, because FFG had like a straight
- 1:15:54out yeah, but they had their own program. They were running like they
- 1:15:59had a whole thing. They had they had hired a company to do it.
- 1:16:01For them for all our games, not just Keyfard would not supply support
- 1:16:08for their games for conventions at all unless they were They're doing it all right,
- 1:16:15Jacob really wants to publish the original key Forge concepts, really wants strong
- 1:16:23three beers very little water that day statement, what is what is real?
- 1:16:28Hard on that? What? This reaction was funny? I need to know
- 1:16:32what are the original keyfordge concepts? And it's been published before the the was
- 1:16:39it technic? Was what it was originally called? A version of the original
- 1:16:45game? Yeah? I was. That was bitballing things of interest in Keyfard
- 1:16:53history. At one point, this was very low priority on the list.
- 1:17:00All right, I'm gonna skip the next point, which is some weird stuff.
- 1:17:05They talked to Richard all well, it's all okay if you want me
- 1:17:09to go about the original rule because Richard taught them in person but said it
- 1:17:15would be a fun archaeological dig. Okay. They talked to Richard all the
- 1:17:20time. He's involved in overall concept on things, but typically uh, but
- 1:17:25typically very high level. Hi guys, it's Richard again. Do you remember
- 1:17:35me? I made magic the gathering. I'm calling you back again about like
- 1:17:42a prophecy card or something. Anyway, one person talks significantly on how vault
- 1:17:47tours are for competitive people and not for new players, and how slow play
- 1:17:54is bad and they should do more to stop slow play. Oh my god,
- 1:18:00did we bring up the fucking chest clock conversation to Christian t which one
- 1:18:08of you was there was? There was some question, one question from someone
- 1:18:11who was not in this chat, related to things like time rules and flow
- 1:18:18playing and things that seemed very unimportant to the CEO of the company. Yeah.
- 1:18:24Maybe more go bother Josh on a different day. Yeah, but I
- 1:18:30like the rest of this statement. I checked out this convo. No,
- 1:18:33no, no, no, no, no, no, I'm sorry.
- 1:18:34I messed it. Also spent a while trying to get CTP to revisit the
- 1:18:39overtime rules because he thinks they're bad. I checked out of this kind.
- 1:18:45We all think they're bad, man, you all think they're bad. Constructive
- 1:18:50criticism was not given. Just these need to change? Are their plans?
- 1:18:55The answer is no. I still think give them all tie, you get
- 1:18:58a tie, have a good day. All decks are eliminated. My tie
- 1:19:03get to time. Drink. That is the jazz court time rules. That
- 1:19:11is I'm going to time boys pumped. I have to that. You said,
- 1:19:17you said, you said three beers. I'm like, you can do
- 1:19:20more than three. If I can go to the event and drink like five
- 1:19:25my ties, that's better than winning three. And it's really it's a snowball
- 1:19:32effect, right because as soon as I've had my first one, my slow
- 1:19:35play is just gonna get worse. Really, Oh my god, yes,
- 1:19:41I think Tuesday we need to try this out. That would man, I
- 1:19:44need to make my tie. I need to then take off Wednesday because I
- 1:19:49only have three rounds. I will you under you underestimate my power, sir.
- 1:19:59My absolute favorite quote came from when he gave us a rundown of key
- 1:20:03Forge history and says that Andrew and Richard were at odds for a while because
- 1:20:10Andrew wanted a cohesive universe storyline and Richard insisted he wanted Martians. Key Forge
- 1:20:17almost died over Martians. Yeah, no Mars yeah. And then it was
- 1:20:27kept out for how long? Take that? Yea? The follow up question
- 1:20:34was it like, oh, then we kept them out of the set.
- 1:20:38We kept them out for three sets, but now they're fire? Was that?
- 1:20:43Was that? The proverbial middle figure to Richard, the world may never
- 1:20:48know. That's for next Uh, that's for that's for Baltimore's dinner. That's
- 1:20:54right. Do you think san Antonio? Now? Now? But if I
- 1:21:00know the East coast? But if but if I was like, hey,
- 1:21:04do you think he's going to be at uh? Do you think he's going
- 1:21:09to be uh? No? Where were you guys? Just at Rochester?
- 1:21:17Your answer would also have been no. So so so here's the question.
- 1:21:23Did he to Baltimore? He did say Baltimore. I said Rochester and Baltimore
- 1:21:28were the only ones He's going to Jeremy at Roseville, and it just so
- 1:21:32happens that those are the two He's unable to make it too. Okay,
- 1:21:36so Jeremy is it that or does he have a family on the East coast?
- 1:21:44It could be that too. So Josh boats Janet Janet too, That's
- 1:21:57that's the name of the boat. I'm sorry, never mind chance too.
- 1:22:03I need to find a way to Baltimore and a way to rig this contest
- 1:22:09so that I am at the skinner think. I think you're already making this
- 1:22:12contest not a thing again. After after we after we go into our ac
- 1:22:15thinking we ruin it you guys. Ever watched the Bert Chryser thing where he
- 1:22:19buys all the tickets to the to the charity auction or whatever what. He
- 1:22:24buys all the tickets to the charity raffle and he's like and he wins all
- 1:22:29the prizes. Mhm, I don't know, but next point that's me.
- 1:22:33That's all the points we have. We're done well. We do have spoiler
- 1:22:38news. Oh okay in my boardom here will you talk? Okay, I
- 1:22:45went, I went LinkedIn shopping and we have the new developer, oh,
- 1:22:51designer working at Ghost Galaxy. Seth McBride started in May, oh so pretty
- 1:22:59recent. Yeah, and his work experience includes senior business account manager at Verizon.
- 1:23:05So he's a store manager, Uh, business account manager. That means
- 1:23:12he's the guy who calls and tries to get you to convert from AT and
- 1:23:15T to Verizon and sells you business phones. It's a job. It's fine.
- 1:23:24And this is our new designer of cards board game. It says board
- 1:23:29game designer, where it actually specifically says on the LinkedIn I linked. To
- 1:23:33be fair, he did say there are two other games in development at Ghost
- 1:23:39Galaxy, so maybe it's maybe we're getting a board game. He forge the
- 1:23:44board game. Oh, there's no picture. There is I don't have a
- 1:23:48picture of mine in the chat. I put the linked in, I have
- 1:23:54the LinkedIn link. I clicked your LinkedIn link. There's no picture. There's
- 1:23:58a picture. Okay, I don't see your picture. All right, let's
- 1:24:00see what he did. Okay, So he started out at Blumhouse Production as
- 1:24:05a television intern. So this is like Jermy's buddy. Yeah, maybe are
- 1:24:13they connected? Oh jeez, this poor kids getting freaking like roasted his first
- 1:24:19week on the job. Phil listen, Josh got it no better. And
- 1:24:25we like him. I mean he's already second best employee, right like,
- 1:24:28So, oh, I don't know. You gott and then you got Josh.
- 1:24:34Okay, you know he's been on the job for at least a day.
- 1:24:40I don't know when he I can't tell when he He went to Biola
- 1:24:44University for writing for writing for film and television. He has some creative interest
- 1:24:55and talent that's good for design. Biola is a nationally ranked Christian versity that
- 1:25:00provides a premier biblical centered education. Okay, well you're welcome. I mean,
- 1:25:10we'll get some we'll get some very religious flavor text on Future Guards.
- 1:25:14Will Jesus now be a creature on my battle life? Praise be the Forge
- 1:25:19Father? Yeah, pay go all right? Sixth and Idaho, Film and
- 1:25:24TV intern for still sixth and Idaho, then Verizon and then now he's a
- 1:25:33bored. This guy must be a baby. How old is he? His
- 1:25:38picture says, I'm seventeen and I need to shave for the first time because
- 1:25:44because literally his first job experiences of January twenty twenty nineteen, he's been in
- 1:25:50college. He's been around as long as this kid. He graduated college in
- 1:25:55twenty twenty. Yeah, so he's literally been he's been working in the mainstreams
- 1:26:02as long as this game has been around eighteen to twenty two. So that
- 1:26:06plays some twenty five. It's not looking up cheap. I don't really know
- 1:26:15what you'reheaded with us. What you couldn't do useful things when you were twenty
- 1:26:18five? Fuck? No, were you doing useful things at twenty five?
- 1:26:28Certainly the hell you were. You were making shower babies all day every day.
- 1:26:35I mean, I still do that, what you but not at the
- 1:26:40frequency? You know? Someone said her strive later in life. Jesus,
- 1:26:49all right, we've gone off the rails. That's normally the time to cut
- 1:26:51it. Well, welcome to the team, Seth, and we look forward
- 1:26:56to see what you do it go see. We look forward to roasting all
- 1:26:59of your decison. I mean talking about the interesting things you'll be doing.
- 1:27:04And you'll be happy to know that you just automatically insert above Jeremy in the
- 1:27:10list. Yeah. Wow, Oh I feel bad because he takes the wrecking.
- 1:27:15He takes the rankings. Seriously, I'm a Jeremy fan. Yeah,
- 1:27:23well, yeah, I guess you should get that map done. He can
- 1:27:25move up? Yeah? Does that move him up? How far does that
- 1:27:28move him? The Seth guy hasn't posted anywhere. I had to find him
- 1:27:31on LinkedIn, so yeah, he's not He's not moving himself up on his
- 1:27:36own ear. He's a new bide right now? Uh for a ghost Galaxy
- 1:27:45like, No, you don't, yeah, we do. What do you
- 1:27:48do with your free time? I don't know. I don't get a linked
- 1:27:51in that often, but apparently I need should I succeed in leadership roles in
- 1:27:56technology driven industries? Absolutely, you don't already follow Ghost Galaxy and forward Fire
- 1:28:01and all the other Ghost Galaxy companies on LinkedIn. I don't know, I'm
- 1:28:09increase. Yeah, do you even do bad? I don't like? Do
- 1:28:15you not know how to Facebook? Stock? Someone? No, I gotta
- 1:28:17have Facebook. So Ghost Galaxy has two takeaways from this. Don't host dinners
- 1:28:23with c TP and uh, don't don't have your recruits or new hires post
