- 1:37Speaker 2: It was a stormy early morning here in the Kenaugh Valley.
- 1:40Speaker 2: I spent the early morning hours picking up trash cans
- 1:43Speaker 2: since it's garbage day in my neighborhood and I'm a
- 1:46Speaker 2: good neighbor. Plus, because just about everyone around us is retired,
- 1:51Speaker 2: I was probably the only person awake when the storm
- 1:54Speaker 2: rolled in about five fifteenth. More in the weather coming
- 1:56Speaker 2: up with Metro News mediaiologist Brian Hughes. Plus this Friday,
- 1:59Speaker 2: there's gonna be special event here in Charleston and evening
- 2:01Speaker 2: with Marshall President Brad Smith and his wife the least.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Will talk about that with the event coordinator Rusty web
- 2:07Speaker 2: No Danny Jones today got a text from Dandy during
- 2:09Speaker 2: the overnight hour. Danny stuck at an airport in Atlanta.

- 2:21Speaker 2: Tony the Taylor text three zero four nine three five
- 2:24Speaker 2: five zero zero. I want to welcome to the show
- 2:26Speaker 2: now doct Josh Williams talking about an event coming up
- 2:29Speaker 2: in the not too distant future at Marshall University. It's
- 2:33Speaker 2: called the Mind Muscle Classic, and he joins us now,
- 2:36Speaker 2: welcome to the show, sir.
- 2:38Speaker 4: Hey, thank you so much for having me. Really appreciate it.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Tell us about this event, the Mind Muscle Classic.
- 2:44Speaker 4: Well, the OCB. Mind Muscle Classic is a natural bodybuilding event,
- 2:48Speaker 4: one of the first of its kind other than last
- 2:49Speaker 4: year when I held the first annual Mind Muscle Classic.
- 2:52Speaker 4: It is for natural bodybuilders all around the State, the
- 2:56Speaker 4: tri State, the nation. The OCB is a natural bodybuilding
- 2:59Speaker 4: organization and founded by Matt Shepley, and we currently have
- 3:03Speaker 4: hundreds of shows all over the country and all over
- 3:06Speaker 4: the world. And the real mission of my show in
- 3:09Speaker 4: the OCB in general is to provide an even playing
- 3:11Speaker 4: field for athletes to come and compete in a drug
- 3:15Speaker 4: tested sport where they can display their discipline and hard work.
- 3:20Speaker 2: And when you talk about natural and define that, I mean,
- 3:22Speaker 2: I think everybody knows what you're talking about, But just
- 3:24Speaker 2: in case, what do you mean by all natural?
- 3:27Speaker 4: Sure? Absolutely, there are multiple federations for bodybuilding out there,
- 3:30Speaker 4: and what I would say is natural is the current standard.
- 3:33Speaker 4: We follow WATA standards, and WATA, the World Anti Doping Agency,
- 3:38Speaker 4: provides a list of substances that are considered well not
- 3:43Speaker 4: safe for use and not usable in sport, and so
- 3:47Speaker 4: we follow WATTA standards and what that means for our athletes.
- 3:50Speaker 4: All athletes get drug screened and all of our pro
- 3:53Speaker 4: card winners those who can then transition into the pro ranks,
- 3:56Speaker 4: have a water grade year analysis. And so to the
- 3:59Speaker 4: best of our ability, we try and make everything.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Even talk about the different categories that you had because
- 4:05Speaker 2: you have a bunch of I was reading your information,
- 4:08Speaker 2: Doctor Williams. You got a lot of different categories.
- 4:11Speaker 4: Yeah, a bunch of different categories for all types of competitors.
- 4:13Speaker 4: And I really want to emphasize, like the purpose of
- 4:15Speaker 4: my show is to increase this opportunity for teens and
- 4:18Speaker 4: young folks. I think it gives them an opportunity to
- 4:21Speaker 4: challenge themselves and develop discipline and then display that in
- 4:25Speaker 4: a ritual in front of their peers and elders and so.
- 4:29Speaker 4: But as far as the divisions and categories go, we
- 4:31Speaker 4: do offer open bodybuilding, So that's your classic bodybuilding category.
- 4:35Speaker 4: Lots of muscularity, lots of conditioning. Classic physique has come
- 4:38Speaker 4: into popularity with the advent of Chris Bumpstead and the
- 4:41Speaker 4: IFPB and things like that. More of your seventies eighties
- 4:45Speaker 4: shape and conditioning than you have men's HYZIQ. And that's
- 4:47Speaker 4: the board short category. So for anybody who just wants
- 4:50Speaker 4: to try out the stage, I think this is a
- 4:51Speaker 4: great category for you to just jump into. You've been training,
- 4:55Speaker 4: put on some muscularity, you want to put on some
- 4:57Speaker 4: board shorts, Lots of different resource is learning how to
- 5:00Speaker 4: pose there. And then as far as the female categories,
- 5:03Speaker 4: we have bikini wellness, and figure, and then also women's physique,
- 5:08Speaker 4: and that is ascending the real differences. There are differences
- 5:12Speaker 4: in muscularity and conditioning, and then we're looking for certain proportions.
- 5:16Speaker 4: But we have several male and female categories, and that
- 5:20Speaker 4: split sort of our show. We have males in the
- 5:22Speaker 4: morning and then females in the afternoon.
- 5:24Speaker 2: How's us evolved through the years? I mean, kind of
- 5:27Speaker 2: take us to this. I guess probably the seventies was
- 5:29Speaker 2: probably the big boom. I mean, it's been going on
- 5:31Speaker 2: for a long time. Of the seventies was the big
- 5:33Speaker 2: boom of this, and then it's kind of gone through
- 5:36Speaker 2: different different phases over the years. Talk about the evolution
- 5:39Speaker 2: of the sport, well, I.
- 5:41Speaker 4: Think, well, so you have the well if I can
- 5:45Speaker 4: just speak about this somewhat openly. So we are a
- 5:47Speaker 4: natural bodybuilding organization, and some federations are either explicitly or
- 5:52Speaker 4: quietly enhanced federations. I think in the seventies and eighties,
- 5:56Speaker 4: the natural bodybuilding organizations weren't as prominent, But you enter
- 6:00Speaker 4: the nineties and the early two thousands, you have the WNBF,
- 6:05Speaker 4: you have the NABA Bodybuilding Organization, and then you have
- 6:08Speaker 4: in the early two thousands. You have the OCB in
- 6:10Speaker 4: the formation of that, and I think the evolution of
- 6:14Speaker 4: the sport is such that now the natural organizations are
- 6:18Speaker 4: sort of catching up to some of the enhanced organizations,
- 6:21Speaker 4: and so we're just able to provide more of this
- 6:24Speaker 4: sport to a wider variety of folks who maybe don't
- 6:27Speaker 4: necessarily want to take some of the things that you
- 6:29Speaker 4: would have to take to be competitive in those arenas.
- 6:33Speaker 4: And so where we sort of parken back to tradition
- 6:36Speaker 4: is the shape and proportion of the sort of seventies
- 6:40Speaker 4: and eighties era. However, we differ in our judging criteria
- 6:44Speaker 4: from other organizations.
- 6:46Speaker 2: You talked about getting younger people involved in this. Why
- 6:49Speaker 2: isn't that so important?
- 6:51Speaker 4: Well, honestly, it's very personal for me. I remember as
- 6:54Speaker 4: a young man, you know, in my teens and early twenties,
- 6:58Speaker 4: just looking for control in some area of my life.
- 7:02Speaker 4: And you know, as the young I made mistakes. I
- 7:04Speaker 4: tried to control things that were outside of my control.
- 7:06Speaker 4: And then as a clinical psychologist you come to discover
- 7:09Speaker 4: one of the first things that you go through with
- 7:10Speaker 4: your clients is you have to understand what is in
- 7:12Speaker 4: and out of your control and I think the important
- 7:14Speaker 4: thing for teams here is they learn multiple things that
- 7:17Speaker 4: are in their control. They learn how to control their training,
- 7:19Speaker 4: they learn how to control their nutrition, and something deeper,
- 7:23Speaker 4: they learn how to control some of these downstream emotions,
- 7:27Speaker 4: and they learn how to handle physical and some psychological
- 7:31Speaker 4: distress due to the training and due to the dieting.
- 7:34Speaker 4: And if we can provide them a platform that is
- 7:37Speaker 4: healthy with the right people, much like myself, who I
- 7:40Speaker 4: encountered the right people so that I could do this naturally,
- 7:43Speaker 4: then I think this is a good pathway for them
- 7:45Speaker 4: to take these skills into their professional and socialized sort
- 7:50Speaker 4: of moving forward. So it's important for me to get
- 7:52Speaker 4: teams involved because I think these skills both benefit them
- 7:55Speaker 4: physically and psychologically.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Talking to begin with doctor Josh Williams. Where can people
- 7:59Speaker 2: learn more about this event?
- 8:03Speaker 4: Well, fantastic. You can go to OCB online dot com

- 8:24Speaker 4: That is it will be held at the Marshall University
- 8:27Speaker 4: Student Center in Huntington, West Virginia, and that is on
- 8:29Speaker 4: May sixteenth, twenty twenty six. Doors are going to open
- 8:32Speaker 4: up at about nine o'clock.
- 8:34Speaker 5: All right.
- 8:35Speaker 2: It sounds like a great event anytime you can get
- 8:36Speaker 2: especially when you can get young people involved. And this
- 8:38Speaker 2: is a really big, a big deal to have this
- 8:41Speaker 2: here in the region as well, Doctor Josh Williams, we
- 8:44Speaker 2: appreciate you being here, thanks.

- 11:13Speaker 2: Tony the Taylor Text three zero four nine three five
- 11:15Speaker 2: five zero zero not intentional, We're focusing so much on
- 11:19Speaker 2: Marshall University. They just kind of worked out that way.
- 11:21Speaker 2: It's Friday night at an event called an Evening with Brad
- 11:24Speaker 2: and Elise Smith here to talk about a good friend
- 11:26Speaker 2: with an organizer friend of the program, Musty Web, How
- 11:28Speaker 2: you doing my friend?
- 11:29Speaker 5: Hey? And Chris Grassi and Chris Grassy as well.
- 11:31Speaker 2: Yeaheah, all right, So talk about this event then we'll
- 11:35Speaker 2: break it down.
- 11:35Speaker 5: Well, first of all, we've had a tenant Marshall has
- 11:38Speaker 5: had a tennis tournament in the in Charleston for thirty
- 11:42Speaker 5: thirty eight years. It's been at the y the entire time,
- 11:46Speaker 5: and we decided to shake things up move it over
- 11:49Speaker 5: to CTC. Better viewing, you know, more, a little more
- 11:54Speaker 5: I'm not going to say accommodating, but you can. You
- 11:56Speaker 5: can do a lot more over there than you can
- 11:58Speaker 5: at the Y. So in con junction with the first
- 12:00Speaker 5: night of the tournament, Brad and Lease have have agreed
- 12:06Speaker 5: to come up and have a reception with any any anyone.
- 12:09Speaker 5: It's not just for alumna and anyone who wants to come.
- 12:12Speaker 5: That's the good news. And of course Chris grass he's
- 12:16Speaker 5: a rock star in his own right. And remind people
- 12:19Speaker 5: who Chris grass Grassy's the only National Championship Division one
- 12:22Speaker 5: champion in the state of West Virginia as far as
- 12:24Speaker 5: I can tell, and he is the soccer coach at Marshall. Yeah,
- 12:28Speaker 5: twenty twenty. We actually won it in twenty twenty one,
- 12:30Speaker 5: but it was a twenty twenty title. I was there.
- 12:33Speaker 5: It was good. It was great anyway, as because they're
- 12:39Speaker 5: so popular, it's it and I had to I have
- 12:43Speaker 5: to limit it. I can't. I can't bring it. You know,
- 12:45Speaker 5: a thousand people. It's sold out, like in a heartbeat,
- 12:48Speaker 5: or at least RSV p'te in a heartbeat because Brad
- 12:52Speaker 5: and Elise are just rock stars. Have I said rock
- 12:57Speaker 5: stars enough? I mean they really are. They really are.
- 12:59Speaker 5: They just impressive people, very impressive. So you can't go,
- 13:05Speaker 5: but we're gonna have it.
- 13:07Speaker 2: We'll tell you about it.
- 13:08Speaker 5: Well, we'll tell you about it. Yeah.
- 13:10Speaker 2: So, and it's amazing to me. And again we're talking
- 13:12Speaker 2: to Rusty Web that Marshall has been on an upswing
- 13:17Speaker 2: for a number of years. But it's on steroids. I
- 13:21Speaker 2: guess after the body building thing. I shouldn't say steroids,
- 13:24Speaker 2: but that's it's appropriate. But but not not with that one.
- 13:27Speaker 2: That but but uh, it has just been accelerated since
- 13:31Speaker 2: Brad Smith has gotten there. There is an energy around
- 13:35Speaker 2: Marshall university. Uh that it's just off the charts right now.
- 13:38Speaker 5: Yeah, it is. Uh, I've had total strangers or people
- 13:44Speaker 5: that i've you know, you know, are quaint our acquaintances
- 13:47Speaker 5: will come up to me, he says. Man that Marshall University. Man,
- 13:51Speaker 5: there it is. It is going like that. Brad Smith
- 13:54Speaker 5: is something else. I said, yeah, he is.
- 13:56Speaker 8: He is.
- 13:56Speaker 5: I mean it's just I mean the guy could be
- 14:01Speaker 5: President of the United States. I mean that's the kind
- 14:03Speaker 5: of credentials he has. I mean he's up there with
- 14:07Speaker 5: Bezos and Gates and all these you know, national corporate leaders,
- 14:12Speaker 5: and he chose to come back and head up his university.
- 14:17Speaker 5: I mean, the story, it's a great story. He really
- 14:19Speaker 5: is and if you meet him, you'll never forget him.
- 14:22Speaker 5: He is humble, He kept the and he kept the accent.
- 14:28Speaker 5: And he tells a story about where they wanted to
- 14:30Speaker 5: send him to New York to a dialect coach, and
- 14:32Speaker 5: he said, I'm not going. I'm proud of my accent,
- 14:35Speaker 5: and that that's what makes me want to run through
- 14:37Speaker 5: a wall. You know, because you and I are from
- 14:39Speaker 5: southern West Virginia and we don't have the Wayne County accent.
- 14:44Speaker 5: That dialects a little bit different.
- 14:46Speaker 2: It's a little different.
- 14:47Speaker 5: But but and man is different, by the way. I'll
- 14:49Speaker 5: tell you that sometime. But we are proud of our accent.
- 14:53Speaker 3: Man.
- 14:53Speaker 5: Nobody's going to change us. Right.
- 14:56Speaker 2: Well, right when you look at somebody like Brad Smith again,
- 15:01Speaker 2: who has done so much in his life, is a
- 15:07Speaker 2: multi millionaire, he doesn't well we never talked about it now,
- 15:11Speaker 2: but no, he doesn't need the job, That's what I'm saying.
- 15:13Speaker 2: And he doesn't even need to be in West Virginia. Yeah,
- 15:16Speaker 2: but he chooses to be. Oh, I thought you're gonna
- 15:20Speaker 2: no ask your question.
- 15:22Speaker 5: No, no, but I mean and then Chris, of course,
- 15:24Speaker 5: Chris Grass is just as smooth as smooth as silk. Actually,
- 15:30Speaker 5: his wife, Allison and I are playing mixed doubles in
- 15:33Speaker 5: the tournament. Allison's are very good. What everybody in the
- 15:36Speaker 5: tennis community knows her from and both of them from
- 15:40Speaker 5: the University of Charleston days. So there are no strangers
- 15:44Speaker 5: to the tennis com or she isn't you know. And
- 15:47Speaker 5: you know they got they have the kids now and
- 15:48Speaker 5: they bring them up and hopefully we can do it
- 15:50Speaker 5: all together. I was going to say, do it together,
- 15:54Speaker 5: say they don't have to come back, but I'm hoping
- 15:55Speaker 5: that at least you'll have to come back, you know,
- 15:57Speaker 5: I hope we won our first round. But uh, that's
- 16:00Speaker 5: where I'm going after this is I'm gonna go here
- 16:02Speaker 5: with her for a couple of hours.
- 16:03Speaker 2: One of the great things again that really impressed me
- 16:08Speaker 2: about Brad Smith is when he's at these events, he
- 16:11Speaker 2: and his wife both, but when they're at these events,
- 16:13Speaker 2: how accessible that they are. Not saying that past presidents
- 16:16Speaker 2: haven't been, but I'm just saying, you know, I mean,
- 16:19Speaker 2: it's like and when you and I've talked to Brad Smith.
- 16:22Speaker 2: I talked to President Smith numerous times. He always seems
- 16:25Speaker 2: to be a lot more interested in you than you
- 16:27Speaker 2: are in him, if that makes any sense. He he
- 16:31Speaker 2: makes you feel like you are important. And I have
- 16:34Speaker 2: seen I've worked events with him, and it doesn't matter
- 16:36Speaker 2: whether you're the bank president, Rusty Webb or the person
- 16:41Speaker 2: who is you know, serving up the food. He's going
- 16:44Speaker 2: to get to know you and he's going to ask
- 16:45Speaker 2: about you.
- 16:46Speaker 5: That's right, he yeah, yeah. And and and the first
- 16:54Speaker 5: lady at least, I mean, she sells us. She has
- 16:57Speaker 5: she has these seminars, they sell out again in a heartbeat.
- 17:02Speaker 5: I mean, she she is a she is a special
- 17:09Speaker 5: person in her own right. Like she's not she's not
- 17:12Speaker 5: the you know, the first lady. She is. She she
- 17:14Speaker 5: has her own thing going on. And just when you
- 17:17Speaker 5: combine those two, uh, and that, and that's what's happening,
- 17:22Speaker 5: you're gonna enrollment has gone up. Interest in the school
- 17:26Speaker 5: was gone up.
- 17:29Speaker 2: And just look if I mean I was at Marshall
- 17:32Speaker 2: starting in nineteen ninety Okay, yeah, you're a baby. Yeah
- 17:36Speaker 2: that's when I was there. And when you when you
- 17:39Speaker 2: drive down Fourth Avenue, third fifth Avenue or Hawgar Boulevard,
- 17:44Speaker 2: Marshall's pretty much taken over Huntington right now. Yeah, I mean,
- 17:47Speaker 2: and it's amazing to see everything is a Marshall University
- 17:50Speaker 2: building of something of some kind.
- 17:52Speaker 5: Now, Yeah, Huntington, Huntington, Huntson nice place. I went down there.
- 17:59Speaker 5: I was down there on a Saturday. No, I was
- 18:02Speaker 5: down there on a Sunday one day. I don't even
- 18:04Speaker 5: know why. I was driving coming through from Kentucky, and uh,
- 18:08Speaker 5: the downtown was just vibrant, like like like cars were everywhere.
- 18:15Speaker 5: It was like it was a Friday or Saturday night.
- 18:17Speaker 5: So yeah, Huntington's got it going on. H Marshall's got
- 18:20Speaker 5: it going on. They've always been. I've always had this
- 18:23Speaker 5: great partnership, you know, between the city and the.
- 18:26Speaker 2: Well, I mean you have mean you know. We interviewed
- 18:28Speaker 2: Patrick Ferrell on Midday, the mayor, yeah, a couple of
- 18:31Speaker 2: weeks ago, and he just said, look as as Honey,
- 18:33Speaker 2: as marsh University goes, so goes Huntington.
- 18:36Speaker 5: Well, I tell you something. I think that it's the
- 18:39Speaker 5: best kept secret in the state of West Virginia. And
- 18:41Speaker 5: I try to get my friends at the Municipal League
- 18:44Speaker 5: and the County commissioners is to go go visit the
- 18:48Speaker 5: Marshall Advance Manufacturing. It used to be the Robert C.
- 18:51Speaker 5: Bird Manufacturer.
- 18:52Speaker 2: I've been there.
- 18:52Speaker 5: It's great. That's where I got my trophies this year.
- 18:54Speaker 5: I mean it only makes sense, right, I mean, I
- 18:56Speaker 5: had my trophy, my Marshall trophies made it to Marshall Manufacturing.
- 19:00Speaker 5: And if if if the mayors and county commissioners and
- 19:05Speaker 5: businesses of this state knew the the partnership opportunities with
- 19:12Speaker 5: just the manufacturing part and the job opportunities, you can
- 19:16Speaker 5: get a certificate in one week down there. One week
- 19:19Speaker 5: a certificate forty hours. I was blown away when I
- 19:24Speaker 5: took that tour, blown away, and I look for every
- 19:28Speaker 5: opportunity to connect, not only with Marshall, but particularly the
- 19:33Speaker 5: manufacturing aspect. It's just it's just people are making you
- 19:37Speaker 5: know how you everybody's looking for that side hustle. That's
- 19:40Speaker 5: your side hustle right there.
- 19:42Speaker 2: The first time I ever learned about three D printers,
- 19:45Speaker 2: that was at that facility on fourth, fourth Avenue, Third Avenue.
- 19:51Speaker 2: I've been there, fourth, Yeah, it's fourth. There was very impressive.
- 19:55Speaker 5: There was a story about a guy that they couldn't
- 19:57Speaker 5: find vending machine parts for these old vending machines, and
- 20:01Speaker 5: so I don't know who was. I think it's somebody
- 20:03Speaker 5: in Huntington. If I did, I wouldn't name them. So
- 20:06Speaker 5: they go, they start making these and start having gross
- 20:10Speaker 5: revenues of a million dollars something as obscure as vending
- 20:14Speaker 5: machine parts. I mean, it's crazy, how the potential.
- 20:16Speaker 2: Yeah, well, the text that I got here that you
- 20:20Speaker 2: reference was WVU just brought home the latest national championship
- 20:24Speaker 2: in rifle. So you aren't.
- 20:26Speaker 5: Entirely now, I know. I'm always cognizantive rifle and I
- 20:29Speaker 5: always know that the West Virginia people are out there
- 20:31Speaker 5: on rifle.
- 20:32Speaker 4: I just.
- 20:34Speaker 5: You know, football, basketball, baseball, soccer, you know what I mean.
- 20:39Speaker 5: And don't get me wrong, I was expecting that question,
- 20:42Speaker 5: and I was exact expecting that And I just want
- 20:45Speaker 5: to tell the listener Marshall had a rifle team at
- 20:48Speaker 5: one time, and I actually tried out for the rifle
- 20:50Speaker 5: team because I thought if I could shoot deer, I
- 20:52Speaker 5: can shoot right. Shoot. It's not the same. It's a
- 20:55Speaker 5: very different skill set. So props to the to the
- 20:59Speaker 5: WVU rifle team, and props to the women's basketball team
- 21:04Speaker 5: for women for winning the Big Twelve and and forgetting
- 21:07Speaker 5: to host first round. Yeah, so yeah, no I'm not
- 21:10Speaker 5: I'm not. You know, I'm not anti WVU.
- 21:13Speaker 2: Here's the thing, Rusty, you can you can be okay
- 21:15Speaker 2: with both?
- 21:16Speaker 5: Wait, yeah you really can. I support both tennis teams.
- 21:19Speaker 5: I'll go up and I support wvun Marshall tennis team
- 21:23Speaker 5: pretty heavily actually, So yeah, it's all good. But yeah,
- 21:26Speaker 5: thanks for having me on. Allison's waiting for me, And.
- 21:30Speaker 2: I want to ask you something before you got business politics,
- 21:33Speaker 2: all right, ya, I want to ask you about politics
- 21:34Speaker 2: what do you think about the what do you think
- 21:37Speaker 2: about session?
- 21:37Speaker 5: Well, I thought about that question too. I thought you'd
- 21:40Speaker 5: ask me as a former legislator, what do you think
- 21:42Speaker 5: as a former legislator. I have to impose Reagan. I
- 21:46Speaker 5: said this when I was shaving this morning. Eleventh commandment, and.
- 21:50Speaker 2: They speak will ill of other Republicans.
- 21:52Speaker 4: Yah.
- 21:53Speaker 5: And I also had this thing that this morning. I
- 21:55Speaker 5: had this. I thought that if you're a doctor, you
- 21:59Speaker 5: know you're your mantris first do no harm? And uh,
- 22:05Speaker 5: I just I don't know. They said they were going
- 22:08Speaker 5: to work on economic development. They said it, and then
- 22:11Speaker 5: they go back to their some of the silly stuff
- 22:16Speaker 5: that I wish they'd stay away from. But they're friends
- 22:18Speaker 5: of mine. So, like I said, I I know, listen,
- 22:23Speaker 5: unless you're in the unless you're in the pit, Dave,
- 22:27Speaker 5: you don't know you and you don't and you know
- 22:29Speaker 5: how the sausage is made. It's it's tough to it's
- 22:32Speaker 5: tough to judge what they do. So I'm you know,
- 22:36Speaker 5: they did the best they could with the sixty days
- 22:38Speaker 5: they had. And that's about all I can say.
- 22:44Speaker 1: Further than that.
- 22:45Speaker 5: No, I just so so much low hanging fruit in
- 22:49Speaker 5: this day, Dave. Tourism, my god, we could explode with tourism.
- 22:54Speaker 2: Maybe you should run again.
- 22:56Speaker 5: People been begging me to run for something, and I
- 22:59Speaker 5: told them, I love my wife more than I love
- 23:01Speaker 5: the state of West Virginia. It's one and two, but
- 23:04Speaker 5: well three after my family, after God, God, Robin Family,
- 23:09Speaker 5: West Virginia.
- 23:10Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the order, all right. I know it's sold out,
- 23:13Speaker 2: but give us the details again just in case.
- 23:16Speaker 5: So it's an evening with Bradon Elise Smith, first President,
- 23:21Speaker 5: first Lady at Marshall University six to eight at the
- 23:24Speaker 5: Charleston Tennis Club in the actual tennis not the clubhouse.
- 23:29Speaker 5: It's actually at the tennis courts, so you can watch
- 23:32Speaker 5: tennis and talk to them and all that. Of course,
- 23:37Speaker 5: you know who's gonna cater who's that Bourbon Street bistro
- 23:41Speaker 5: of course. Yeah, so yeah, I'm looking forward to it.
- 23:45Speaker 5: And then the tournament runs all weekend. We have as
- 23:48Speaker 5: of this morning or as of last night, we had
- 23:50Speaker 5: seventy one players, longest second longest tennis tournament in the
- 23:54Speaker 5: state of West Virginia, second only to Charleston Public Courts,
- 23:57Speaker 5: which started I think in the early seventies maybe sixties.
- 24:02Speaker 5: Are started thirty eight years ago. Whatever whatever the math is.
- 24:06Speaker 2: On that, keep keep doing good things for Resty.
- 24:10Speaker 5: Thank you brother, You're always well. I love that, you know.
- 24:12Speaker 5: I love the state. God I want to state to
- 24:13Speaker 5: do so well. Man, Maybe should run for off. I
- 24:16Speaker 5: get frustrated. Well, I know, talk to Robin. You gotta
- 24:20Speaker 5: talk to Robin about Yeah, all right.
- 24:23Speaker 2: I'll say all right, it's a rusty Webbye. I appreciate

- 27:41Speaker 2: Texas tourism could do big things for the state. Think
- 27:43Speaker 2: of all the people coming here to get serviced by
- 27:46Speaker 2: low wage employees. Think of all the seasonal, part time
- 27:48Speaker 2: low wage job. Sure missed the boat this session, says
- 27:51Speaker 2: a text, Well, look, it brings money into the state
- 27:55Speaker 2: of West Virginia to the tune of millions, and I
- 27:57Speaker 2: understand completely what the text is saying. Generally speaking, jobs
- 28:00Speaker 2: in tourism generally speaking, don't pay a whole lot. I
- 28:06Speaker 2: get that. I mean they, you know, they pay, but
- 28:08Speaker 2: not not as much. But it's not always about the
- 28:11Speaker 2: employment as much as it is about bringing the money
- 28:14Speaker 2: into the state. But I do completely understand what the
- 28:19Speaker 2: text is saying. But I mean, we're killing it on
- 28:22Speaker 2: tourism right now in West Virginia. I mean, we really
- 28:24Speaker 2: a big shout out to Chelsea Ruby and and we
- 28:28Speaker 2: have been killing it for for a while. And I
- 28:31Speaker 2: do like the fact that we do. I don't agree
- 28:33Speaker 2: with the legislature on everything, trust me, okay, but I
- 28:36Speaker 2: do I do one d think that we have a
- 28:40Speaker 2: number of legislators who see the importance of tourism in
- 28:44Speaker 2: West Virginia and what we have here that people in
- 28:47Speaker 2: other areas don't have. I'm talking about, you know, whitewater rafting,
- 28:52Speaker 2: I'm talking about the skiing. I'm talking about the mountains
- 28:54Speaker 2: and the hat Film McCoy Trail and the other trail systems.
- 28:57Speaker 5: And you know, just in.
- 28:59Speaker 2: Putnam County, thousands and thousands of people every year come
- 29:03Speaker 2: to Putnam County, West Virginia, about two or three miles
- 29:05Speaker 2: from my house for the Meek Mountain Trails. I mean,
- 29:08Speaker 2: just a lot of a lot of big national events
- 29:10Speaker 2: are coming here. And there's even more. There's even more coming.
- 29:14Speaker 2: And it is interesting too because the younger generation. Uh no,
- 29:20Speaker 2: and this is not gonna be me complaining. I'm actually
- 29:23Speaker 2: giving them credit. The younger generation seems to put a
- 29:26Speaker 2: lot more emphasis on outdoor activities than what older folks did.
- 29:32Speaker 2: And uh they it's about the experience with a lot
- 29:34Speaker 2: of not not all, but a lot of them. It's
- 29:37Speaker 2: and and one of the reasons that we have seen
- 29:39Speaker 2: such an uptick in people, younger people coming into West
- 29:42Speaker 2: Virginia was for that purpose, was for it was because
- 29:46Speaker 2: they it's not only about the job. They enjoy the
- 29:51Speaker 2: outdoor stuff that we have to offer here in West Virginia.
- 29:53Speaker 2: It's good stuff.
- 29:54Speaker 4: Uh.
- 29:55Speaker 2: Wild weather it was early this morning, continues to be showers, thunderstorm.
- 30:00Speaker 2: I mean the wind actually woke me up last night,
- 30:02Speaker 2: which is saying something. And then I get out of
- 30:04Speaker 2: bed this morning and getting ready to take a shower,
- 30:07Speaker 2: take a look out the window this morning to see
- 30:09Speaker 2: garbage cans flying everywhere, and I mean some big time winds.
- 30:14Speaker 2: Winds are actually the wind advisory I think is going
- 30:17Speaker 2: to be around for a while. But then we've also
- 30:19Speaker 2: got much colder temperatures and some snow showers. Been checking
- 30:23Speaker 2: with meteorolog is Brian Hughes here momentarily to kind of
- 30:26Speaker 2: see what we can expect for the rest of the day.
- 30:30Speaker 2: Tex says, if the session was the best Republicans could
- 30:33Speaker 2: do with sixty days, perhaps they need more time. I
- 30:35Speaker 2: was going to say they need voted out and replace,
- 30:37Speaker 2: but that makes sense, says a tankster. Well, I think,
- 30:41Speaker 2: and again, we're going to get into the session coming
- 30:44Speaker 2: up a little bit later on on Metro News Midday. Actually,
- 30:48Speaker 2: State Democratic Party Chair Mike Pushkin is going to join
- 30:50Speaker 2: us in State Republican Party Chair Josh Holstein. Both are
- 30:53Speaker 2: going to join us on the show today and a
- 30:55Speaker 2: couple other legislators as well, to get everybody's take on
- 30:58Speaker 2: this session. This session was, in a lot of people's eyes,
- 31:03Speaker 2: was disappointing in a lot of ways. You could hear
- 31:06Speaker 2: it in my man Rusty Webb's voice there. Rusty himself
- 31:10Speaker 2: a former legislator who keeps a close eye on politics.
- 31:12Speaker 2: But you know, there were some good things that came
- 31:15Speaker 2: out of a legislature. I think it's going to be.
- 31:19Speaker 2: And again time will tell when you go back and
- 31:21Speaker 2: you study these things as to what kind of a
- 31:24Speaker 2: session it was. I thought in a lot of ways,
- 31:27Speaker 2: it was disappointing, certainly a chaotic ending if you were
- 31:30Speaker 2: paying attention to it late Saturday night. And Rayley's Law,
- 31:35Speaker 2: of course did not go through. And I mean if
- 31:40Speaker 2: you heard the comments from delicate Sean fluh Hardy, who
- 31:46Speaker 2: is running for Senate, just I mean flu Hardy is
- 31:49Speaker 2: a fiery guy anyway, and he was just fit to
- 31:54Speaker 2: be tied. As my grandmother would say about about Rayley's
- 31:57Speaker 2: Law not passing, and this was the law that and
- 32:02Speaker 2: I'm just kind of paraphrase it basically, Uh, it was
- 32:05Speaker 2: going to It was not anti homeschool by any stretch
- 32:09Speaker 2: of the imagination as it was painted by some people. Uh,
- 32:12Speaker 2: it was just going to put some some some There
- 32:16Speaker 2: was going to be more eyes on homeschooling, especially when
- 32:20Speaker 2: they're well one, when there is an investigation involved some
- 32:24Speaker 2: sort of a CPS type investigation, and and it and
- 32:28Speaker 2: it did not pass, and there were people dragging their
- 32:31Speaker 2: feet and so on. So a lot of people are
- 32:32Speaker 2: upset about that. A lot of Republicans were upset about that.
- 32:36Speaker 2: I can tell you I saw comments online from folks
- 32:38Speaker 2: like a delicate Andy Shamlin also UH Senator Amy Nicole Grady,
- 32:43Speaker 2: both Republicans that were that were very upset by. But
- 32:46Speaker 2: again we'll get in all that on Metro News Midday
- 32:49Speaker 2: to Day. And the aforementioned Sean Fluhardy. Delegate flu Hardy
- 32:52Speaker 2: will be on the show today. UH, I might as
- 32:54Speaker 2: well go ahead and tell you who else is going
- 32:55Speaker 2: to be on the show today. Mentioned we have stated
- 32:59Speaker 2: both stayed Republican, both party chairs should say Josh Holstein
- 33:04Speaker 2: and Mike Pushkin. They'll both be on the show today.
- 33:06Speaker 2: Mentioned it. Delegate Sean flu Hardy will be on the show.
- 33:08Speaker 2: Jeff Jenkins will have the news today. The governor has
- 33:11Speaker 2: a press conference at the capitol at noon today. We'll
- 33:14Speaker 2: check in on that. Fred Persinger is going to review
- 33:16Speaker 2: the state girls basketball term, making it's ready for the
- 33:18Speaker 2: boys tournament, which gets underway tomorrow at the Connell see
- 33:20Speaker 2: mcconvention Center. Ellen Allen is here from No Relation is
- 33:24Speaker 2: here from the group West Virginians for Affordable Healthcare. And
- 33:26Speaker 2: it's also Monday, which means we're going to introduce you
- 33:29Speaker 2: to another great mayor from around the state, and of
- 33:31Speaker 2: course open line West Virginia Metro News Midday with thirteen
- 33:34Speaker 2: News and Tonight Live anchor Amanda Baron and Me coming
- 33:36Speaker 2: up at noon today powered by Selango Law. Among the
- 33:40Speaker 2: guests on the local show tomorrow, Attorney General J. B.
- 33:42Speaker 2: McCuskey will be here and again no Danny Jones on
- 33:45Speaker 2: the show today. Poor Danny, trying to get back from California,
- 33:48Speaker 2: sent me a text at around twelve thirty am this morning.
- 33:51Speaker 2: Of course I was long asleep by then told me
- 33:53Speaker 2: he was stuck in the Atlanta airport, which if you've
- 33:56Speaker 2: ever been stuck in the Atlanta airport, I can think
- 33:59Speaker 2: of hundreds of better ways to spend a night. Danny
- 34:01Speaker 2: will be back with this coming up hopefully next Monday.
- 34:06Speaker 2: Texas cannabis brings money into the state. If legalized, it
- 34:09Speaker 2: would bring more money than tourism. But cannabis legislation has
- 34:12Speaker 2: met with It's not a fix all while tourism and
- 34:16Speaker 2: its low wage jobs heralded as the economy saving opportunity.
- 34:19Speaker 2: I think there is a bias. I don't disagree with
- 34:23Speaker 2: that statement. Not a cannabis user myself, but I think
- 34:28Speaker 2: it's time to look at it. I will say that
- 34:31Speaker 2: I think it's time to seriously take a look at it.
- 34:36Speaker 2: Texas says a better session than last year, but still disappointing,
- 34:40Speaker 2: especially for the Senate. No strategic plan going into the session.
- 34:43Speaker 2: The House did a great job, says a texture. Tex
- 34:47Speaker 2: says the whole school lobby has more sway in the
- 34:49Speaker 2: legislature than at risk vulnerable children do. That's how this
- 34:53Speaker 2: year's session went. Tex says Donald Trump is the best
- 35:00Speaker 2: president of winning wars. He's won the Iran War seven
- 35:04Speaker 2: times in just two weeks. Little little humor there from
- 35:09Speaker 2: the Texter, and we'll get I'm gonna get a little
- 35:12Speaker 2: bit more on the Iran War coming up. It's not
- 35:15Speaker 2: a war, I guess, coming up a little bit later
- 35:17Speaker 2: on in the show. You know, I'm a big fan
- 35:19Speaker 2: of Bill Maher. I've told you before I don't agree
- 35:21Speaker 2: with Bill Maher and everything, but I am I am
- 35:23Speaker 2: a fan. And I went back over the weekend and
- 35:26Speaker 2: watched the most recent episode, but then I watched one
- 35:29Speaker 2: from a couple of weeks ago, and on that show,
- 35:32Speaker 2: he had on Don Lemon and he also had on
- 35:35Speaker 2: Adam Shift and it was really a good moment because
- 35:43Speaker 2: it was actually kind of a funny moment. Adam Shift
- 35:47Speaker 2: was talking about how this president, President Trump has overstepped
- 35:51Speaker 2: his boundaries and that there's no real strategy, no real
- 35:54Speaker 2: reason why we went into this conflict in Iran and
- 35:57Speaker 2: that part of the world. There was really no reason
- 35:59Speaker 2: for it, and how he bypassed Congress altogether. So he's
- 36:05Speaker 2: so Bill Maher comes back and reads a statement. He says,
- 36:07Speaker 2: and I'm going to very much paraphrase the statement. It
- 36:10Speaker 2: says something like, well, as leader, I have to do
- 36:13Speaker 2: what I think is best for the security of America.
- 36:17Speaker 2: And again, very much paraphrase him. That's pretty much what
- 36:19Speaker 2: he said. Adam Schiff responds was, yes, that is no
- 36:22Speaker 2: I'm sorry. Bill Maher says, was that too vague. Adam
- 36:24Speaker 2: Shiff says, yes, that was too vague. Bill Marher responds
- 36:27Speaker 2: by saying, Okay, that was a statement that Barack Obama
- 36:30Speaker 2: made and it kind of I think went over the
- 36:33Speaker 2: head of a lot of the people in the audience,
- 36:36Speaker 2: But yeah, that was the that's the exact words that
- 36:38Speaker 2: Barack Obama used on a mission I think in Syria.
- 36:42Speaker 2: So this idea and I'm speaking not necessarily as a
- 36:45Speaker 2: Trump fan. But this idea that this is something new
- 36:50Speaker 2: that we go into an area and we bypassed Congress.
- 36:53Speaker 2: The idea of it this is something new, I think
- 36:54Speaker 2: is very, very disingenuous because it's it's this has been
- 36:58Speaker 2: going on under various presidents for some time. The Dave

- 37:13Speaker 2: from all over the US, whether it's sports, hiking, atv
- 37:16Speaker 2: trail camps along the rivers.
- 37:18Speaker 4: Vote.
- 37:18Speaker 2: Soelango, all right, mister Selango, County Commission President, Ben Selango,
- 37:23Speaker 2: you got a fan here? You got one? And I'm kidding,
- 37:26Speaker 2: I'm kidding, texts says Dave. If recreational weed wouldever be legalized,
- 37:34Speaker 2: this would be a devastating mistake for many reasons. Common sense,
- 37:39Speaker 2: says a texture. It is interesting if you go back
- 37:42Speaker 2: and you read some of the states that have legalized
- 37:46Speaker 2: marijuana for recreational use, and just like anything else, you
- 37:50Speaker 2: can get a report that pretty much says anything to
- 37:53Speaker 2: line up with your particular views. There are numerous reports
- 37:57Speaker 2: out there that say it has been fantastic economically, but
- 38:01Speaker 2: there's also a lot of reports out there that say
- 38:03Speaker 2: it's not so much. It's not been that great. Again,
- 38:09Speaker 2: I'm speaking as a non marijuana user, not against just
- 38:13Speaker 2: not my thing. I will say this, though, I have
- 38:16Speaker 2: visited areas where not a lot, but a few areas
- 38:21Speaker 2: where marijuana is legal. If I had any complaint with
- 38:25Speaker 2: it whatsoever, it probably would be that a lot of people,
- 38:29Speaker 2: a lot, not all, A lot of people think that
- 38:32Speaker 2: because weed is legalized, that they can light it up anywhere.
- 38:36Speaker 2: And that's a little that's a a little problematic for me.
- 38:41Speaker 2: And what I mean by that is is I don't smoke,
- 38:44Speaker 2: never have smoked, But you can't just smoke anywhere you want,
- 38:48Speaker 2: can't just walk around with a beer can anywhere you want.
- 38:52Speaker 2: But for some reason, a lot of people that smoke
- 38:54Speaker 2: weed think it's okay for you to just light up
- 38:56Speaker 2: wherever you are. And that I got up that's not
- 39:01Speaker 2: all that. I got a little bit of a problem

- 43:31Speaker 2: Welcome back to the show. It's ten minutes away from
- 43:34Speaker 2: ten on a Monday morning, Texas Dave. They light up

- 43:39Speaker 2: no idea where they are, says a texture Tex says Dave.
- 43:43Speaker 2: Independent voters have given the Republicans every opportunity to help
- 43:46Speaker 2: West Virginia and its people, and they have failed miserably.
- 43:48Speaker 2: No legislation on out of control utility costs and food costs.
- 43:53Speaker 2: So it's the texture well, and now independent voters are
- 43:56Speaker 2: we're told by the State Republican Party during their meeting,
- 43:59Speaker 2: which is their right, can set their rules, that Republicans
- 44:03Speaker 2: don't need them anymore. And so just know that when
- 44:06Speaker 2: you go to votes, either on election day or if
- 44:08Speaker 2: you do early voting, that if you are an independent
- 44:10Speaker 2: voter in West Virginia. We talked about it a lot,
- 44:13Speaker 2: but I have a feeling some people are gonna be
- 44:14Speaker 2: upset because it's not sunk in if you're if you're
- 44:17Speaker 2: a registered independent and you walk into your polling place
- 44:19Speaker 2: and you say, I am an independent, but I like
- 44:22Speaker 2: a Republican ballot. The poor poll worker, don't yell at
- 44:24Speaker 2: him or her. It's not their fault. Are going to
- 44:26Speaker 2: say ah now because the State Republican Party made that
- 44:29Speaker 2: decision that they did not need independent voters. Brian Hughes, Yes, sir,
- 44:35Speaker 2: how you doing man, well?
- 44:37Speaker 14: Just watching the rain, showers and the storms. Yes, yes,
- 44:40Speaker 14: night we had. I had a little birthday party on
- 44:42Speaker 14: the back deck of the boat yesterday evening, and I said, boy,
- 44:46Speaker 14: aren't y'all glad you did it today not tomorrow.
- 44:48Speaker 2: I told the story earlier five point fifteen. This morning,
- 44:52Speaker 2: I'm out, I'm watching garbage cans. It's garbage day in
- 44:55Speaker 2: the neighborhood.
- 44:56Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 44:56Speaker 2: Watch, and I'm watching garbage cans go. They just don't
- 44:58Speaker 2: generate enough garbage. That's what the the problem is. They
- 45:01Speaker 2: didn't have the problem in my house, but mine didn't
- 45:04Speaker 2: blow over, but our neighbors did. I was out there
- 45:06Speaker 2: picking them by. That was some hilacious winds this morning.
- 45:08Speaker 2: And are we done with the winds yet?
- 45:09Speaker 14: Well, actually we do have right now the next front,
- 45:13Speaker 14: and this is the one that's gonna drop everything. The
- 45:16Speaker 14: next front is just starting to move through, and we've
- 45:19Speaker 14: got behind it win gus twenty to thirty miles per
- 45:22Speaker 14: hour that is moving through. It's moving into east western
- 45:25Speaker 14: Kenock County right now. That those shoppers of storms just
- 45:28Speaker 14: moving through the Tay Valley area back up to Ripley
- 45:32Speaker 14: and then on down to let's say, even Chapmanville. That
- 45:35Speaker 14: line of storm moving off to the east right now,
- 45:37Speaker 14: and it's moving in pretty decent quipped but behind it,
- 45:40Speaker 14: the temperatures are dropping dramatically. We've got temperatures right now
- 45:43Speaker 14: in the mid fifties in Charleston, but it's the mid
- 45:46Speaker 14: forties in Huntington. And then as we head into this evening,
- 45:48Speaker 14: of course, that's where we're gonna see, you know, the
- 45:50Speaker 14: possibility of getting a few snowflakes around the area. There's
- 45:52Speaker 14: a winter weather travel advisory across parts of the mountains.
- 45:56Speaker 14: It includes Nicholas County. But that you know, I don't
- 45:59Speaker 14: think we're gonna have any big travel problems, but there'll
- 46:01Speaker 14: be some slick spots tonight, and then by tomorrow morning,
- 46:03Speaker 14: you know, we're down to twenty two degrees in Charleston,
- 46:06Speaker 14: which tomorrow's high only thirty three.
- 46:07Speaker 2: So it was basically from what I understand, it was
- 46:09Speaker 2: like seventy degrees at midnight last night. Yeah, and by
- 46:12Speaker 2: the end of the day, by the end of let's
- 46:14Speaker 2: say eight nine o'clock to night, temperature is going to
- 46:16Speaker 2: be in the thirties, eventually going to the twenties.
- 46:17Speaker 14: Yeah, it's gonna be dramatically different. And but you know,
- 46:21Speaker 14: we've got this cool down. Then we have the significant
- 46:24Speaker 14: warm up that will return, but just you know, it's
- 46:26Speaker 14: just getting to that point. But right now, you know,
- 46:29Speaker 14: the thing that we're looking at across the across the
- 46:31Speaker 14: entire region is the fact it's just going to be
- 46:33Speaker 14: gosh darn cold tonight on into tomorrow, and then the
- 46:37Speaker 14: numbers for the for the rest of the week. I've
- 46:39Speaker 14: got Tuesday, this is really hilarious. Thirty three Tomorrow, ty
- 46:44Speaker 14: Tomorrow's thirty three, yes, thirty three Wednesday. Wednesday, we go
- 46:48Speaker 14: to forty five Thursday, sixty and then we're back to
- 46:52Speaker 14: seventy on Saturday and sixty.
- 46:55Speaker 1: Seven on Sunday.
- 46:55Speaker 2: Welcome to March exactly in like a line out like
- 46:59Speaker 2: a lamb. But you don't think that there's any travel
- 47:01Speaker 2: issues and they're on now part of the world.
- 47:03Speaker 5: We have to be.
- 47:03Speaker 14: Concerned, No, not particularly listen to the bulk of this activity. Well,
- 47:07Speaker 14: we have severe you know, tornado watches across the Carolinas
- 47:10Speaker 14: this morning, and we've got severe thunders on mornings there.
- 47:13Speaker 14: We had all of ours overnight. Actually, we had the
- 47:15Speaker 14: severe thunders warning that was intered for parts of Knawla
- 47:18Speaker 14: County was had a tagline in of a tornado possible.
- 47:22Speaker 14: We didn't see some spin ups there, but I say
- 47:24Speaker 14: spinufs in the middle level of the atmosphere, we saw
- 47:26Speaker 14: some spin so we had to be concerned about that.
- 47:28Speaker 14: But right now it's just gonna be this a line
- 47:30Speaker 14: of shoppers and storm's coming through within the next hour,
- 47:32Speaker 14: and that's definitely gonna make some things a little wild
- 47:35Speaker 14: around here for just a touch, all right, I.
- 47:37Speaker 2: Mean realig is Brian here. Appreciate you being here, my friend,
- 47:39Speaker 2: absolutely good to be here.
- 47:40Speaker 14: Not if I we got to get in the studio
- 47:42Speaker 14: this morning.
- 47:43Speaker 2: Thanks a lot. It is five minutes away from tan Tex,
- 47:46Speaker 2: says Marshall. Matt Dillon and Chester are always shot warning
- 47:48Speaker 2: shots in the air. Yeah, that's what I was kind
- 47:51Speaker 2: of alluding to. There was the fact that the shots,
- 47:54Speaker 2: I mean again, I don't know exactly what happened over there,
- 47:56Speaker 2: but morning shots, you generally speak, can go up in
- 47:58Speaker 2: the air and should not go to the g.
- 48:00Speaker 14: I can't speak to a little bit of insider information.
- 48:03Speaker 14: They are taking all of the all the video that
- 48:07Speaker 14: they have for all the cameras, and then we they
- 48:09Speaker 14: were prosecuting the fullest extent all of the all of

- 48:42Speaker 1: He's just he was just furious.
- 48:43Speaker 14: Oh yeah, just upset, and he just he voluntarily called
- 48:47Speaker 14: the ABC this morning. They would have made the determination
- 48:50Speaker 14: for closing them for ten days. He voluntarily called him
- 48:53Speaker 14: and said, I'm closed for ten days and you know,
- 48:55Speaker 14: not anything that we could have particularly controlled. But but
- 49:00Speaker 14: he said, we're going to do some deep cleaning, fix
- 49:03Speaker 14: a few things while it's closed down, and go from there.
- 49:05Speaker 2: All right, Brian Hughes appreciate it, man, of course, thanks

- 49:41Speaker 5: That's a texture.
- 49:42Speaker 2: All those poor Ohio drivers, man, they always take a

- 50:13Speaker 2: show with this. Two things you can always talk about
- 50:16Speaker 2: the weather, which we just did, and gas prices they're up.
- 50:22Speaker 2: I think I heard just on Bloomberg to start the
- 50:25Speaker 2: show overall about twenty seven percent odd number, but I
- 50:29Speaker 2: think it's like twenty seven percent. They're up and there
- 50:32Speaker 2: is no indication that they are going to be going
- 50:35Speaker 2: down anytime soon. And I thought about this because someone
- 50:40Speaker 2: else had posted it on social media. Do you remember
- 50:42Speaker 2: a couple of years ago when we had a spiking
- 50:44Speaker 2: gas prices and at your local convenience store of people
- 50:47Speaker 2: were putting Joe Biden stickers on the gas pumps and
- 50:51Speaker 2: with the finger or was it well? I actually at

- 50:56Speaker 2: saw it when it spiked a little under under Joe
- 50:58Speaker 2: Biden as well, people putting the stickers on there and
- 51:01Speaker 2: pointing to the price of gas, saying I did that.
- 51:04Speaker 2: I wonder if we are going to see those with Trump,
- 51:08Speaker 2: just saying I saw a meme about it on social media,
- 51:10Speaker 2: so just I thought I would I would report. One
- 51:14Speaker 2: of the things, though, I have to say that kind
- 51:16Speaker 2: of cracks me up is people who say gas is
- 51:19Speaker 2: going up, you better fill up. Well, okay, that's all
- 51:23Speaker 2: well and good if you don't drive anywhere. But if
- 51:25Speaker 2: you fill up now, what you're gonna do the following
- 51:28Speaker 2: week when it goes up even more in the following week.
- 51:31Speaker 2: Because again, as long as this thing is going on,
- 51:34Speaker 2: and Trump now is urging allies to try to keep
- 51:36Speaker 2: the trader from moves open, long as this thing is continuing,
- 51:39Speaker 2: gas prices are not going to be going down anytime soon.
- 51:42Speaker 2: They're just going to continue to go up and up
- 51:43Speaker 2: and up. I mean, at least that's the way that
- 51:45Speaker 2: the guess what the gas industry is saying now, that's
- 51:47Speaker 2: the way that it looks right now. So I mean,
- 51:50Speaker 2: panic buying and saying we're gonna go fill up now
- 51:53Speaker 2: is all great if you leave your car parked, but
- 51:55Speaker 2: if you take it anywhere, probably not such a good
- 51:57Speaker 2: idea because you're gonna have to have it again. All Right,
- 51:59Speaker 2: we gotta go. I'll see you later today on Metro
