- 0:20Speaker 1: Hey, everyone, welcome, bless this message the True Cup podcast.
- 0:22Speaker 1: I don't care. Here's to say, has to do right,
- 0:25Speaker 1: We're back this weekend. We were going to Kentucky. Apologies
- 0:28Speaker 1: we missed the last week. I'm done. We're trying our best.
- 0:33Speaker 1: So anyways, I hope we go to our new house
- 0:35Speaker 1: though that we are. So we're going house hunting here
- 0:39Speaker 1: pretty soon and we are definitely looking for a house
- 0:43Speaker 1: that has a little bit more space so that we
- 0:45Speaker 1: can have like a We're not in a closet, We're
- 0:49Speaker 1: not uncomfortable. Part of the reason we.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Don't record it graphic going by every five minutes.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Yes, because we do have a space where we could
- 0:58Speaker 1: set up the podcast more for like long term to
- 1:03Speaker 1: record in. However, as you guys know, we have to
- 1:06Speaker 1: pause all the time because everybody in this neighborhood is
- 1:08Speaker 1: loud and so we it's like it's super annoying. Anyway,
- 1:13Speaker 1: so we're hoping that we have we can find us
- 1:16Speaker 1: a little place that we can get a little extra
- 1:19Speaker 1: space and we can have a podcasting area. So because
- 1:24Speaker 1: I hear all the rages you're supposed to be on
- 1:26Speaker 1: YouTube's do like I mean, we're on YouTube. Although I
- 1:29Speaker 1: have forgotten to post anything on YouTube or quite sometime.
- 1:32Speaker 1: But I'm mainly focused on I post on the three
- 1:34Speaker 1: big ones like Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, but the ones that
- 1:40Speaker 1: we just put the audio out. Everybody wants video on YouTube,
- 1:42Speaker 1: you know.
- 1:43Speaker 2: They really want to see us.
- 1:45Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know if they want to see us.
- 1:46Speaker 1: I'm saying other people post video. I don't think anybody
- 1:49Speaker 1: wants to see problem is we're not very photogenic. Well
- 1:54Speaker 1: also we look like we ask no Stewart, We're never addressed.
- 1:59Speaker 1: We just have to like pop in here and like
- 2:01Speaker 1: just like now, it all worked out. It just all
- 2:03Speaker 1: the timing worked out. I'm off work, the baby went
- 2:08Speaker 1: to sleep, and then the other three kids were being terrible,
- 2:11Speaker 1: so they're in quiet time and so it just is
- 2:14Speaker 1: like the perfect times and we just have to pop
- 2:16Speaker 1: into it. And we're both in our pajamas because I
- 2:18Speaker 1: put on my pajamas immediately when I get home from work.
- 2:22Speaker 1: I put on my comfany clothes anyway. So but although
- 2:26Speaker 1: normally we were walking in the evenings, but are y'all
- 2:29Speaker 1: need Jesus? This week is going to be some happenings
- 2:33Speaker 1: around town. I'm going to just this place.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Is this place Jesus.
- 2:41Speaker 1: It's a walking y'all need Jesus around here. So anyways, uh,
- 2:46Speaker 1: we appreciate all of our patreons. We'll get us. Ay,
- 2:49Speaker 1: we'll get you the second half of our trip here
- 2:53Speaker 1: at some point this weekend. Yes, shortly, we'll get you
- 2:55Speaker 1: the second half of our trip. I believe we stopped
- 2:57Speaker 1: when we got to Key West. We're gonna make our
- 2:59Speaker 1: way back up on the on our on our shoot
- 3:02Speaker 1: the poos we were working. We had made it to
- 3:04Speaker 1: key West. We talked about Key West and then we
- 3:06Speaker 1: were going to go back up to We're headed to
- 3:09Speaker 1: Cape Canaveral next in our ongoing so far. No, I
- 3:13Speaker 1: don't think we did. I think we stopped. We were like, okay,
- 3:15Speaker 1: this is the perfect point. We'll stop and we'll do
- 3:18Speaker 1: the return to quit. But it also been like an hour.
- 3:23Speaker 1: I mean, there's only so much time people can listen
- 3:26Speaker 1: to this, not.
- 3:27Speaker 2: So they can stop it desire.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Okay, you always sound like such a snorky, you a
- 3:34Speaker 1: judgy little bit. We've been house hunting, Okay, I will
- 3:40Speaker 1: say we have been house hunting, and we.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Did it out fun. Let's look at all the houses okay.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Okay, So we had to send our list to the
- 3:52Speaker 1: realtor so she could start kind of doing some recon
- 3:55Speaker 1: on them, because there's a lot of options down down there.
- 3:57Speaker 1: When we moved here, we both agreed pretty quickly on
- 4:01Speaker 1: Once this house popped up, it had all the stuff
- 4:03Speaker 1: we needed, and we knew this was a short term,
- 4:08Speaker 1: short term commitment because we knew we would be so
- 4:11Speaker 1: we knew we would be. We became houseboor, and we
- 4:15Speaker 1: knew we'd just we knew we'd be leaving here. This
- 4:17Speaker 1: is a different story. We could possibly have this house.
- 4:21Speaker 1: There may not be any moving again, like this could
- 4:23Speaker 1: be it for a long time. So there's also a
- 4:27Speaker 1: lot of options there, a lot more in our price
- 4:30Speaker 1: range and just a lot more that we can pick from.
- 4:34Speaker 1: So we're supposed to have our list to the realtor.
- 4:37Speaker 1: I was like, okay, we'll get you like top ten
- 4:40Speaker 1: or something like that, so she can go look through
- 4:42Speaker 1: them and stuff, because realistically we're going to look at houses.
- 4:46Speaker 1: We will have all the children, So realistically how many
- 4:49Speaker 1: can we look at I'm sure with her, with just
- 4:53Speaker 1: us it would be like four hundred, but with us
- 4:56Speaker 1: and the children, we might be able to get to
- 4:58Speaker 1: three houses in the two days we're going, so maybe
- 5:03Speaker 1: maybe anyway, So we had to shorten our list down
- 5:06Speaker 1: to what we really wanted. So I go, I go, okay,
- 5:09Speaker 1: let's let's add our Swanzilla. You can do a shared
- 5:12Speaker 1: favorites or whatever. I say. So she's like, oh, you
- 5:14Speaker 1: can do his share, So let's do that. So I
- 5:16Speaker 1: go add all mine and the thing. I'm like, okay,
- 5:17Speaker 1: now you had yours, so we can see where we overlap,
- 5:20Speaker 1: because I'm like, we have the same search criteries. We
- 5:25Speaker 1: have to overlap. I was thinking at least five would
- 5:28Speaker 1: be like for sure overlap, and we could send her
- 5:31Speaker 1: those to start off with, and then we could both
- 5:33Speaker 1: just like add a couple more that we really liked people.
- 5:37Speaker 1: I looked at his list, What the fuck?
- 5:41Speaker 2: What is this list?
- 5:42Speaker 1: Like? None of the we didn't have. I think we
- 5:45Speaker 1: had one house, two houses that overlapped, two houses on
- 5:49Speaker 1: our entire list, and he had I had like twenty
- 5:52Speaker 1: something saved and he had probably twenty something saved and
- 5:56Speaker 1: we had two houses overlap. So I'm like, this is
- 5:58Speaker 1: not gonna be this is not gonna go well, no,
- 6:02Speaker 1: this is gonna be rough on our marriage. I can
- 6:04Speaker 1: tell you that right.
- 6:05Speaker 2: Now, postpartum road trip house hunting not a grain.
- 6:13Speaker 1: So we'll see how this goes. But it's not off
- 6:16Speaker 1: to a good start. So this might not be our
- 6:19Speaker 1: only house hunting trip. Who knows, we might have to
- 6:22Speaker 1: do this again, so.
- 6:24Speaker 2: Or I could be house hunting when my new spouse
- 6:26Speaker 2: after this trip.
- 6:26Speaker 1: We don't do. You won't be house hunting, Stewart, you'll
- 6:31Speaker 1: be living in an apartment. I mean the children will
- 6:34Speaker 1: be house hunting. So anyways, that is what we are
- 6:39Speaker 1: up to. But yeah, Patroon, we appreciate everybody. We'll get
- 6:41Speaker 1: you another other part of our trip. We also will
- 6:45Speaker 1: get back to recovering like documentaries or whatever. And then,
- 6:50Speaker 1: like I said, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok so I share our
- 6:53Speaker 1: dinners each night and it can be like like we
- 6:58Speaker 1: had tacos this week from a like a fast food joint.
- 7:00Speaker 1: I share whatever we eat, so if you just want
- 7:02Speaker 1: to know what's going on, then follow along. I also
- 7:05Speaker 1: still share the true crime documentaries and things like that,
- 7:08Speaker 1: and then let's see anything else. Oh and rate review,
- 7:14Speaker 1: Subscribe on iTunes wherever you are, Apple Podcasts wherever you
- 7:18Speaker 1: get your podcast at Yes five stars only people five
- 7:24Speaker 1: stars only. All right, I think that is it. So
- 7:26Speaker 1: let's go ahead and get into this week's episode before
- 7:29Speaker 1: somebody wakes up. Okay. So, on September first, twenty sixteen,
- 7:36Speaker 1: in Danville, Kentucky, thirteen year old David Oakley arrives home
- 7:40Speaker 1: around four pm. I watched an episode of I'll put
- 7:44Speaker 1: it in the show notes. I watched an episode of
- 7:47Speaker 1: See No Evil on this one, Stuart. Anyway, So David Oakley,
- 7:53Speaker 1: he's thirteen years old. He arrives home around four pm.
- 7:56Speaker 1: He had been at school all day. He goes into
- 7:58Speaker 1: the home and something seems off to him, so he's
- 8:03Speaker 1: goes to do some dishes and everything like that. The
- 8:06Speaker 1: dogs kept barking though, and he's like like, I don't
- 8:09Speaker 1: know what the dogs are barking at, and so's he
- 8:12Speaker 1: kind of ignores him, starts doing the dishes. What a
- 8:13Speaker 1: good kid, you know, what a good kid comes home,
- 8:16Speaker 1: do the dishes. They will not let go of barking
- 8:18Speaker 1: at the basement. So that's when he goes ahead and
- 8:21Speaker 1: walks with home, goes into the basement, and to his horror,
- 8:24Speaker 1: he finds his stepmother, Ronda, lying on her back. Now
- 8:28Speaker 1: this is where it's like really rough looking like for
- 8:31Speaker 1: him to walk in and see there's blood around her
- 8:34Speaker 1: body and she has a black trash bag and duct
- 8:37Speaker 1: tape taped around her head, so it's like a horror movie.
- 8:41Speaker 1: He immediately calls police as well as his father, Philip.
- 8:44Speaker 1: Philip immediately heads home where he arrives and finds Plice
- 8:47Speaker 1: with the home taped off and they're already started investigating
- 8:52Speaker 1: this crime scene. Now at this point, they do inform
- 8:55Speaker 1: him that Ronda is deceased.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Investigators go through their home. They're trying to figure out
- 9:00Speaker 2: what happened. They're looking in the basement where Ronda was murdered,
- 9:04Speaker 2: and they don't see any signs of a struggle down there,
- 9:07Speaker 2: so they're wondering if she was surprised by the perpetrator
- 9:10Speaker 2: or possibly knew the person so therefore she wasn't prepared
- 9:13Speaker 2: for a fight and just got ambushed. Basically, looking at
- 9:17Speaker 2: her body, it appeared that she had been stabbed multiple
- 9:20Speaker 2: times in the throat along with the bag being over
- 9:23Speaker 2: her head. Going through the home, they did find a
- 9:26Speaker 2: knife block in the kitchen and one of the knives
- 9:29Speaker 2: was missing from that block. You know, it was we
- 9:32Speaker 2: got we got one missing from our block.
- 9:35Speaker 1: We do. It was farther aware.
- 9:42Speaker 2: Kids.
- 9:42Speaker 1: I mean, if I'm going to be if I'm going
- 9:46Speaker 1: to be stabbed us, please.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Deal with the kitchen names.
- 9:49Speaker 1: Give the kitchen naps.
- 9:51Speaker 2: I don't want to upgrade to something like some.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Maybe some Martha Stewart because I'm a classy bitch, you know,
- 9:57Speaker 1: like that. Maybe if Las Crusette makes a's knife set,
- 10:04Speaker 1: I will accept that.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Yeah, do I have to do the murdering or to
- 10:08Speaker 2: make sure you're murdering with an eye?
- 10:09Speaker 1: Well, I'll know that if you go and upgrade our
- 10:11Speaker 1: knife set here in the next week or so, that
- 10:14Speaker 1: I'll know what's coming.
- 10:15Speaker 2: You'll know something's up, something's up. Yep. They do believe
- 10:20Speaker 2: that this kennife was most likely the murder weapon. I
- 10:23Speaker 2: think I may have said that already before you went
- 10:25Speaker 2: on your rant about what kind of knives you would
- 10:27Speaker 2: be murdered by. Police do not see any other struggles
- 10:32Speaker 2: within the home or any signs of forest entry. So
- 10:36Speaker 2: here we are a little stall in the investigation, trying
- 10:39Speaker 2: to figure out what's going on.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Yeah, what the motive was, because there's nothing missing, there's
- 10:44Speaker 1: nothing broken into I mean in it's just Ronda's just
- 10:50Speaker 1: been murdered. But yeah, just out of nowhere, and nothing
- 10:54Speaker 1: seems to be off other than.
- 10:56Speaker 2: Like obviously that dead body.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Yes, they speak to Philip and they find out in
- 11:02Speaker 1: the home it was himself, Ronda David, the thirteen year
- 11:06Speaker 1: old that found her, and his fifteen year old daughter Jenna.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Now down in the basement where Ronda was found, there
- 11:12Speaker 1: was an extra bedroom as well as Jenna's bedroom. It
- 11:15Speaker 1: was also where I believe like the laundry and everything
- 11:17Speaker 1: was done. They asked Philip about Jenna, and he says
- 11:21Speaker 1: that the school had called him and said that she
- 11:23Speaker 1: hadn't shown up that day. Now is Philip's looking around.
- 11:26Speaker 1: He also says that Ronda's car is missing. Now investigators
- 11:30Speaker 1: need to find out where's Jenna, and they're starting to
- 11:33Speaker 1: be concerned that possibly that's the motive, like Jenna didn't
- 11:37Speaker 1: go to school, she's at home. Someone came in and
- 11:40Speaker 1: took Jenna, so you know, like.
- 11:42Speaker 2: That's murdered, the witness, murdered the stepmom.
- 11:47Speaker 1: To get to the fifteen year old.
- 11:49Speaker 2: They canvassed the neighborhood for security footage, but they come
- 11:52Speaker 2: up empty handed on this. They start speaking to some
- 11:55Speaker 2: of the neighbors, and one of the neighbors helped David
- 11:58Speaker 2: that day he had found Ronda. When speaking to this neighbor,
- 12:03Speaker 2: she said that David ran over and said something had
- 12:06Speaker 2: happened to his mother. They asked if there was any
- 12:08Speaker 2: issues in the home that she knew of, and she
- 12:11Speaker 2: said that a while back, and this is a couple
- 12:13Speaker 2: months ago, that Ronda had talked to her about Jenna
- 12:16Speaker 2: having a relationship with an older fella and Ronda trying
- 12:20Speaker 2: to help Jenna out of this situation. With this information,
- 12:24Speaker 2: they bring Philip to the police station to question him
- 12:27Speaker 2: about this older man that Jenna was supposedly seen. He
- 12:31Speaker 2: tells investigators that Jenna was crazy about some guy by
- 12:34Speaker 2: the name of Kenneth Nye. Kenny, as Philip calls him,
- 12:38Speaker 2: is a twenty year old fella, and so he's dating
- 12:41Speaker 2: a fifteen year old, which is a big stretch when
- 12:44Speaker 2: you're that young. Investigators are concerned that if Kenny is
- 12:48Speaker 2: willing to date a fifteen year old girl, then he
- 12:50Speaker 2: might be willing to do other things to be with
- 12:52Speaker 2: her since the relationship was forbidden.
- 12:56Speaker 1: Kara Forboden, Yes, well, I was going to write forbidden
- 13:00Speaker 1: and it sounded a little to Keith Morrison dateline, so
- 13:04Speaker 1: I wrote not aloud and then you changed to forbidden relationship.
- 13:08Speaker 1: So please don't write me letters about the knife thing.
- 13:12Speaker 1: It was just something to.
- 13:13Speaker 2: It's too late. They're already on their way.
- 13:15Speaker 1: They're already writing their letters.
- 13:17Speaker 2: They stopped when they heard that tippity tapping away.
- 13:20Speaker 1: It was just it's just, you know, how we are,
- 13:22Speaker 1: we're trying to it's a serious topic.
- 13:24Speaker 2: Well, what's her face? Don't know because she wrote a
- 13:27Speaker 2: one star review a few months back. Who I don't know,
- 13:31Speaker 2: somebody that was upset about something.
- 13:32Speaker 1: I said, oh, because they probably stopped listening.
- 13:34Speaker 2: So yes, they probably stopped listening at that point.
- 13:37Speaker 1: All right, If investigators go to track down Kenneth Nie
- 13:42Speaker 1: and they found out that he was in the Army
- 13:44Speaker 1: and was stationed out at Fort Carson in Colorado, So
- 13:46Speaker 1: I remember we're in Kentucky now. When contacting the military,
- 13:49Speaker 1: they found out that the day before the murder, which
- 13:51Speaker 1: was August thirty first, Kenneth intentionally felled his physical test
- 13:55Speaker 1: and was dismissed from the military. They know he like, what.
- 13:58Speaker 2: Takes longer than that. You can't just fail your PT test.
- 14:01Speaker 2: One day and they're like, all right, that's what they
- 14:02Speaker 2: said Stewart.
- 14:03Speaker 1: Maybe he'd done other things. I don't know. He was
- 14:06Speaker 1: released from the military. Maybe they didn't want him around.
- 14:09Speaker 1: Obviously we're gonna find out he has problems. Okay, they
- 14:13Speaker 1: gave him a he's also in a relationship with a
- 14:15Speaker 1: fifteen year old, which is illegal, so it's forbidden. Yes,
- 14:19Speaker 1: it's forbidden. They gave him a plane ticket to Indiana
- 14:23Speaker 1: because that's where he was from, and he was scheduled
- 14:26Speaker 1: to leave out on that August thirty first. Well, I
- 14:28Speaker 1: don't know how. I don't know when he failed the physical,
- 14:31Speaker 1: but August thirty first was his last day.
- 14:34Speaker 2: Yes, they didn't.
- 14:35Speaker 1: It wasn't that day. I don't think that they just
- 14:36Speaker 1: kicked him out.
- 14:37Speaker 2: He just now. You usually go to legal and then
- 14:40Speaker 2: you're like, you're sitting there for however many days till
- 14:42Speaker 2: you're discharged as finalized and the handy you're walking papers
- 14:46Speaker 2: and say get the hell off at the space.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Yeah, so it happened on August thirty first. Maybe they
- 14:50Speaker 1: wanted to round it out nice. Last day of the month.
- 14:52Speaker 2: Okay, full pay day?
- 14:54Speaker 1: Are there thirty one days in August?
- 14:56Speaker 2: Did I do that right, Okay, July on August back
- 14:59Speaker 2: to back, lin.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Timber is thirty days. Yes, okay, it's the only one
- 15:03Speaker 1: that's back to back. The rest of them flip flop, except.
- 15:05Speaker 2: For unless you count January and December.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Okay, well nobody does, so that.
- 15:12Speaker 2: All right.
- 15:13Speaker 1: So he's scheduled leave out on August thirty. First, Oh,
- 15:17Speaker 1: he had his plane ticket. They find out that he
- 15:19Speaker 1: never used that ticket though he traded in and got
- 15:21Speaker 1: a ticket to go out to Kentucky that day. They
- 15:24Speaker 1: pulled airport records and could see him walking through the airport. Uh,
- 15:28Speaker 1: so they know he was in Kentucky the day before
- 15:30Speaker 1: the murder. And he was also wearing a shirt that
- 15:32Speaker 1: had it had something written on it, but it was
- 15:34Speaker 1: in like real clear block letters, like it was very distant.
- 15:38Speaker 1: The point is very distinct clothing where he could be
- 15:41Speaker 1: picked out later on in the same clothing.
- 15:44Speaker 2: In a lineup. Yes, in the same clothing.
- 15:47Speaker 1: So the last video they have of Kenneth is him
- 15:51Speaker 1: walking towards the taxi area to leave the airport, and
- 15:55Speaker 1: then that's it.
- 15:56Speaker 2: They speak to Philip and David about the home life.
- 16:00Speaker 2: Says that Rohnda was like the love of his life
- 16:02Speaker 2: and like, you know, they had like a nearly perfect marriage.
- 16:06Speaker 1: Why you say, like you know because I wrote Yes,
- 16:09Speaker 1: did I write that pretty much?
- 16:11Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 16:11Speaker 1: Like no, I didn't. I said, was like the love
- 16:14Speaker 1: of his life, you know, like nearly like.
- 16:17Speaker 2: A perfect like hel kind of like me and Kara.
- 16:22Speaker 1: Oh my god, what like, oh my god? You just
- 16:27Speaker 1: made fun of me for putting like in there.
- 16:29Speaker 2: Yes, I don't know a hundred times.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Well, I do this voice to text, so it just
- 16:36Speaker 1: it's not one hundred times. I put it in there
- 16:38Speaker 1: one time, and you exaggerated it. I didn't put it
- 16:40Speaker 1: in there that many times.
- 16:41Speaker 2: People, Okay, you exaggerate a lot of things that I
- 16:44Speaker 2: supposedly do around the house.
- 16:46Speaker 1: You exaggerate a lot of things. Okay. Anyways, the point
- 16:51Speaker 1: is they're very happy, yes, and in.
- 16:53Speaker 2: Love, and evidently other people on the outside picked up
- 16:57Speaker 2: on that because they believed that were very much in love,
- 17:01Speaker 2: and it seems like it was not just a front
- 17:04Speaker 2: that they actually were. He was very heartbroken about Ronda
- 17:08Speaker 2: being murdered.
- 17:09Speaker 1: Yes, I feel bad for him. He's he said that
- 17:11Speaker 1: she was like the love of his life and they
- 17:12Speaker 1: were just like perfect, you know, It's just he was
- 17:16Speaker 1: very sad. Yes, he was very sad about what happened
- 17:21Speaker 1: to her.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Due to his alibi, it was very unlikely that Philip
- 17:26Speaker 2: was involved. When speaking to David, he had a very
- 17:29Speaker 2: good relationship with Ronda. He even would call her mom
- 17:33Speaker 2: during these interviews.
- 17:34Speaker 1: And it was really sad too, because this was another
- 17:37Speaker 1: really sad part because he's like thirteen year old boy
- 17:39Speaker 1: or whatever, and so he's in the interview and he's
- 17:43Speaker 1: like my mom. And so with that, and the detective said,
- 17:47Speaker 1: did you call her mom whenever there? And he said,
- 17:50Speaker 1: and he started kind of crying. He's like, no, but
- 17:51Speaker 1: I should have called her mom more he called her
- 17:56Speaker 1: n He'd like, I called her Ronda, but I should
- 17:57Speaker 1: have called her mom.
- 17:58Speaker 2: Because she was There's just the real mom was.
- 18:01Speaker 1: Well, we don't know the real mom might have been there,
- 18:03Speaker 1: but Ronda was just like everyone said, was so was
- 18:06Speaker 1: just so great and everything that. So you can have
- 18:09Speaker 1: a good biological mom possible. I mean, I don't know,
- 18:12Speaker 1: they didn't mention it, but they could have a good
- 18:14Speaker 1: biological mom and then still have a really good step
- 18:16Speaker 1: mom and everybody gets along and they feel comfortable calling
- 18:21Speaker 1: her mom or something like that. You know, but I
- 18:23Speaker 1: felt bad for him because he was really upset that.
- 18:27Speaker 1: I guess he felt like she didn't know.
- 18:28Speaker 2: He should have let her know more than yes, But.
- 18:31Speaker 1: He's thirteen year old boy. I means he was doing
- 18:34Speaker 1: the dishes. I mean, that's so all we can ask,
- 18:38Speaker 1: you know.
- 18:38Speaker 2: So, when he was asked about Jenna's relationship with Ronda,
- 18:43Speaker 2: he said that they did not get along and that
- 18:45Speaker 2: Jenna did not like Ronda. Philip told investigators that he
- 18:49Speaker 2: remembered a couple months previous, Ronda had found Jenna's journal
- 18:54Speaker 2: and in it she had written how much she hated
- 18:57Speaker 2: Philip and Ronda, but said it wouldn't matter because they
- 19:02Speaker 2: would be dead soon. It's like foreshadows.
- 19:08Speaker 1: That's aggressive, you know, to write your diaries.
- 19:10Speaker 2: That's that's a lot, dear diary, I will kill my
- 19:13Speaker 2: dad and my stepmother will be dead, saying, so all
- 19:17Speaker 2: this hate that I have for them can go away. Obviously,
- 19:22Speaker 2: this is very concerning to authorities, and they're starting to
- 19:24Speaker 2: realize that possibly Jenna was involved and rather than being
- 19:29Speaker 2: taken against her will, maybe she was a co conspirator
- 19:33Speaker 2: in this. At this point, the main focus on the
- 19:36Speaker 2: investigation was on Kenneth and Jenna and trying to figure
- 19:41Speaker 2: out where they might be.
- 19:44Speaker 1: Yes, I found this. I found this crime like particularly disturbing.
- 19:49Speaker 1: I find anything where there's young people involved that do
- 19:52Speaker 1: stuff like this because you like older people, you're like
- 19:56Speaker 1: they've had some stuff gone through, some things like usually
- 19:59Speaker 1: a little bit hardened in the like adults and things
- 20:02Speaker 1: like that. But when young people do stuff, it's.
- 20:04Speaker 2: Very how they're emotionally disconnected from, Yes, the real of
- 20:08Speaker 2: what they're doing.
- 20:09Speaker 1: Yes, it's just I find it just very distracted.
- 20:12Speaker 2: But if it doesn't turn out good, I'll just restart
- 20:15Speaker 2: the game. Yeah, like you.
- 20:17Speaker 1: Know, yeah, Okay, So they get the word out that
- 20:22Speaker 1: they are looking for Jenna. This is when they come
- 20:24Speaker 1: across an Uber driver who said that he picked up
- 20:26Speaker 1: a guy by the name of Kenny at the airport
- 20:28Speaker 1: on August thirty. First it looks promising, he tells, Kenny's
- 20:32Speaker 1: not that common of a name, so I feel like
- 20:33Speaker 1: you would. I mean, it is common, but it's not
- 20:36Speaker 1: that common. He tells investigators that he made small talk
- 20:39Speaker 1: with the guy he was see. This is where the
- 20:41Speaker 1: uber driver would have never got me, because you're not
- 20:44Speaker 1: a small talk Yeah, not I don't. Well, you can
- 20:47Speaker 1: put the settings that you'd like if you want them
- 20:49Speaker 1: to talk to you or whenever, you can put it
- 20:51Speaker 1: in the settings and and not and not havn't talked
- 20:56Speaker 1: to you. I still remember this lady that I worked with,
- 20:59Speaker 1: and she really liked her and everything that would. Me
- 21:01Speaker 1: and her got along really well, which is probably why
- 21:03Speaker 1: I thought this. She's she was like, I put on
- 21:05Speaker 1: my settings that I liked it. Uh, cold, What the
- 21:10Speaker 1: fuck's wrong with you? She put cold and I was like, oh,
- 21:15Speaker 1: she meant like cold in the temperature and I was
- 21:18Speaker 1: automatically went to like, oh, yeah, I don't like people
- 21:20Speaker 1: talking to me. She's like, no cold temperature temperature. She's like,
- 21:26Speaker 1: so that what you think of me? I'm like yeah,
- 21:27Speaker 1: She's like yeah, I don't want them talking to me either,
- 21:28Speaker 1: so uh, anyways, you can put this now like you're
- 21:31Speaker 1: are used to, like, I don't want to do small talk.
- 21:33Speaker 1: I don't like that, I don't want music on. Yeah.
- 21:37Speaker 1: At this point though, I'm just hopeful that the car
- 21:40Speaker 1: is somewhat clean and that they get me there live.
- 21:42Speaker 1: If they need to talk to me to do that.
- 21:44Speaker 2: Then seems like the quality has gotten real.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Sketchy, like real sketchy going down.
- 21:49Speaker 2: Here, Like they're desperate for drivers and cars.
- 21:51Speaker 1: So it's like Airbnb and Uber anything. After a while,
- 21:55Speaker 1: it starts they start off with just like the nicest vehicles,
- 21:58Speaker 1: the nicest homes, everything's top notch, and then as they
- 22:02Speaker 1: need more and more, they start lowering the bar as
- 22:06Speaker 1: who where you can stay in everything like that. So
- 22:11Speaker 1: all right, So the guy said that the Kenny guy
- 22:15Speaker 1: that he talked to was about twenty years old. He
- 22:17Speaker 1: said he'd just got all the army and he'd come
- 22:19Speaker 1: from Colorado. He said the only thing that was odd
- 22:22Speaker 1: to him is that when he asked him to drop
- 22:24Speaker 1: him off, it was just like on the side of
- 22:26Speaker 1: the road rather than an actual location, and which I
- 22:30Speaker 1: didn't think you could do that, but maybe back then
- 22:31Speaker 1: you could.
- 22:32Speaker 2: And he just I think you can just say, hey,
- 22:34Speaker 2: drop off here and I'll just down the trip.
- 22:36Speaker 1: Okay. Anyways, he just told the driver that he wanted
- 22:40Speaker 1: to surprise his girlfriend, so he needed him not to
- 22:43Speaker 1: pull into the driveway. So they find out where he
- 22:46Speaker 1: was dropped off, and it was near Philip and Ronda's
- 22:48Speaker 1: home and was seen walking in that direction by a witness. Now,
- 22:52Speaker 1: As they're looking into Kenny's actions that afternoon of August thirty, first,
- 22:55Speaker 1: they get a tip about a sighting of Jenna on
- 22:58Speaker 1: September first, which is the afternoon of the day of
- 23:03Speaker 1: the murder. Now, the witness says that they saw Jenna
- 23:06Speaker 1: at the Danville Walmart. Everybody's got to stop going to Walmarts?
- 23:09Speaker 1: Do they don't know how many cameras at Walmart's for godsake, are.
- 23:12Speaker 2: You trying to help these criminals not get caught.
- 23:14Speaker 1: Yes, everybody gets caught with some sort of footage at Walmart.
- 23:17Speaker 1: I swear Walmart. We give Walmart a hard time, but
- 23:21Speaker 1: they're single handedly solving crimes left and right with the
- 23:24Speaker 1: camera footage. Yeah, because of how many cameras they have
- 23:27Speaker 1: in the quality of the cameras.
- 23:28Speaker 2: Probably got some really good technicians working on them.
- 23:31Speaker 1: Came, I'm sure they do.
- 23:34Speaker 2: They headed the Walmart and they get security footage from
- 23:37Speaker 2: the day of the murder.
- 23:39Speaker 1: Or what that day, September it was that day, Yes.
- 23:44Speaker 2: And they do see Ronda's car in the parking lot.
- 23:47Speaker 2: They believe that.
- 23:50Speaker 1: This would have been Yeah, the wait, what huh? They
- 23:57Speaker 1: see Ronda's car in the parking lot, No, I'm not
- 23:58Speaker 1: restarting these on his car in the parking lote. I
- 24:01Speaker 1: was saying, yes, it was that day. It was the
- 24:03Speaker 1: afternoon of the They found Ronda on four pm on
- 24:07Speaker 1: the September first, and so this was before that timeframe,
- 24:12Speaker 1: but it was an afternoon, so afternoons.
- 24:15Speaker 2: Yeah, they can't get the plate number, but it's the
- 24:18Speaker 2: exact color and make anne model of the car. The
- 24:21Speaker 2: car parks and two individuals get out. From the footage
- 24:24Speaker 2: and the outfit they saw Kenneth wearing at the airport,
- 24:28Speaker 2: it's fairly clear that Jenna and Kenneth are together. They're
- 24:33Speaker 2: both walking quickly up to the entrance of the store.
- 24:36Speaker 2: They have footage of them walking through the store, and
- 24:39Speaker 2: it's very clear this is not a hostage situation or
- 24:42Speaker 2: any type of kidnapping. She is with him very willingly.
- 24:47Speaker 2: They see them where and they head to the electronics
- 24:51Speaker 2: department and they appeared to buy a phone charger for
- 24:53Speaker 2: the car. This is indicating that they were possibly hitting
- 24:57Speaker 2: the road after committing the murder. The it almost appears
- 25:01Speaker 2: that jen is kind of the leader of the two,
- 25:03Speaker 2: showing Kenneth where to go in the store and picking
- 25:05Speaker 2: out the item and items that they need.
- 25:09Speaker 1: Yeah, she was very relaxed in the situation. There was
- 25:11Speaker 1: no panic or anything like that. Went and got a
- 25:15Speaker 1: sales associate, had to have him unlocked the thing. She
- 25:19Speaker 1: was telling them what to do, like it was just
- 25:22Speaker 1: a regular day at the wally World's Doom. Now investigators
- 25:25Speaker 1: are trying to ping Kenneth's phone. However, he seems to
- 25:28Speaker 1: be turning it on and off, so they're just always
- 25:30Speaker 1: behind by like an hour or two. So he turns
- 25:32Speaker 1: it on, does whatever, and then turns it off, and
- 25:35Speaker 1: so by the time they he's already down the road
- 25:38Speaker 1: by the time they pick it back up again. So
- 25:42Speaker 1: while there at the time that they first ping it,
- 25:44Speaker 1: there about two hours away when they were able to
- 25:47Speaker 1: start tracking that phone. Now, while they're working on the
- 25:49Speaker 1: location of Kenneth's phone, they obtained the diary from the house,
- 25:52Speaker 1: and in it there are specifics Jenna wrote down about
- 25:55Speaker 1: the murders, including having a bag packed, having a knife prepared,
- 26:00Speaker 1: and she put stab them first. Now, investigators, I would
- 26:04Speaker 1: just not like, I don't know what I would do.
- 26:06Speaker 1: I couldn't have that child in my home if I
- 26:09Speaker 1: knew she was writing that she wanted us to die,
- 26:11Speaker 1: And what do you do.
- 26:14Speaker 2: I don't know what you do with a fifteen year old.
- 26:16Speaker 1: That is writing in her diary she wants you and
- 26:19Speaker 1: your wife to perish, to die, to die. I'd be
- 26:23Speaker 1: checking that diary every day waiting for her to put
- 26:24Speaker 1: the details in there. And when she started putting stabbed
- 26:28Speaker 1: them first, I'd be like, you got to get out.
- 26:30Speaker 1: I don't care how old you call.
- 26:31Speaker 2: A popose and put you out, change the locks.
- 26:34Speaker 1: I don't know what you do though, with a fifteen
- 26:36Speaker 1: year old wants to murder. You find out about it.
- 26:39Speaker 2: Like at grandma's house, grab sold.
- 26:43Speaker 1: That's what my parents did to my brother anyways. Okay,
- 26:48Speaker 1: so yeah, so she's writing all this stuff in her
- 26:52Speaker 1: diary and they're they're I don't know if they were aware.
- 26:55Speaker 1: I doubt they were aware of that, but I would
- 26:57Speaker 1: have been keeping a pretty close eye on the whole
- 26:59Speaker 1: city situation.
- 27:00Speaker 2: And she lives her tirey at the house, yeah, just
- 27:02Speaker 2: right there on the run with her. She wants them
- 27:05Speaker 2: to find it.
- 27:06Speaker 1: I don't think she cares. She was when when they
- 27:08Speaker 1: get to where they do catch her. Whenever they get
- 27:10Speaker 1: to interview her, she just seems like dead inside. I
- 27:12Speaker 1: don't know, she's got no emotions whatsoever. It's really disturbing.
- 27:17Speaker 1: All right, Uh, you maybe lose my.
- 27:20Speaker 2: Spot again, I did not.
- 27:21Speaker 1: So investigators now feel that they have confirmed that Jenna
- 27:25Speaker 1: might have been the one to kill Rhonda and Kenny
- 27:28Speaker 1: is helping her escape. So it's con completely different than
- 27:32Speaker 1: what they they yes, because if you were going to
- 27:35Speaker 1: pick which one was the murderer, you'd be like, oh,
- 27:37Speaker 1: probably the ex military twenty year old male, not the
- 27:41Speaker 1: fifteen year old little girl or whatever. They continue pinging
- 27:46Speaker 1: the phone, but again, they know they are heading west. However,
- 27:48Speaker 1: they're not sure which direction they're going because as they're
- 27:51Speaker 1: pinging it, it's on I forty the whole time. But
- 27:54Speaker 1: like I said, they're behind because he keeps turning the
- 27:56Speaker 1: phone off. But they're not sure if they're headed out
- 28:00Speaker 1: west to California, or they're going to take a turn
- 28:05Speaker 1: and go to Mexico or what is going on. Finally,
- 28:09Speaker 1: on September three, that evening, they pinged the phone and
- 28:12Speaker 1: is in the same location for over an hour between pings,
- 28:15Speaker 1: and they end up being in Tukamuri, New Mexico. I
- 28:19Speaker 1: know I'm mispronouncing that. Sorry, if you live in Tucomour, Mexico.
- 28:25Speaker 1: So they contact the local piece there and let the
- 28:27Speaker 1: put piece there the local police there and let them
- 28:31Speaker 1: know that they are looking for these two in Ronda's vehicle.
- 28:36Speaker 2: The local police department arrives at the location and initially
- 28:40Speaker 2: they don't see the car, but then tucked away they
- 28:43Speaker 2: do find the white Honda Civic with Kentucky plates. The
- 28:47Speaker 2: officer goes out to approach the car and the car's
- 28:51Speaker 2: headlights come on as they're going to leave. However, the
- 28:54Speaker 2: police were able to stop the vehicle and inside the
- 28:57Speaker 2: vehicle was Jenna and Kenning. They both came with the
- 29:01Speaker 2: officers without a fight. They were both arrested and taken
- 29:05Speaker 2: to the local jail. While in the local cell or
- 29:09Speaker 2: while in the jail cell, Kenny did is it.
- 29:11Speaker 1: Auto spelled to jail'st hair of jail from me? Blame apple?
- 29:18Speaker 2: Okay, I'm gonna blame you for not.
- 29:21Speaker 1: How do I enunciate jail better?
- 29:24Speaker 2: Proofread yours?
- 29:25Speaker 1: I'm not going to prof read. This is the proof
- 29:28Speaker 1: we are proofreading. Get right now? Okay we are the
- 29:31Speaker 1: test Yes, we are the proofreaders. We are a spell chick.
- 29:35Speaker 2: Well, Kenny tried to hang himself. He was taken to
- 29:38Speaker 2: the hospital and he did later pass away from the
- 29:43Speaker 2: injuries that he suffered. In his jail cell. Nothing you
- 29:50Speaker 2: got nothing on that.
- 29:51Speaker 1: No, it just keeps it, just kept spelling it. Jail.
- 29:53Speaker 1: What do you want from me? Okay, I didn't I
- 29:55Speaker 1: know how to spell jail j A.
- 29:56Speaker 2: I L I was just going to get the glare
- 29:58Speaker 2: from you every time I say something. Glare now in
- 30:02Speaker 2: his jails now now I'm saying it in his gael cell,
- 30:07Speaker 2: in his gel In his jail cell. He left a
- 30:09Speaker 2: note saying he admits to killing Ronda in the note,
- 30:12Speaker 2: and he says that Jenna had nothing to do with it.
- 30:15Speaker 2: She was not in the house when I killed Ronda.
- 30:17Speaker 2: I take blame for everything. I am truly sorry, and
- 30:21Speaker 2: then he signed it. However, authorities are not sure if
- 30:24Speaker 2: this is one hundred percent true.
- 30:26Speaker 1: Yes, just because you do something horrible and then off
- 30:30Speaker 1: yourself and leave a note doesn't mean it's true. It's true.
- 30:34Speaker 1: I mean, he probably would have had a better chance
- 30:36Speaker 1: if he was trying to keep Jena out of trouble
- 30:38Speaker 1: by staying alive and going.
- 30:41Speaker 2: To jail and sticking to the story of sticking to.
- 30:44Speaker 1: The story the whole time, not this, because there's no
- 30:46Speaker 1: way for you for them to interview to confirm that this,
- 30:50Speaker 1: you know, really pick apart your story.
- 30:52Speaker 2: And stuff unless they get a Ouiji board and somebody
- 30:54Speaker 2: that can speak Stuart.
- 30:55Speaker 1: Oh my god, you're gonna get us in trouble. I
- 30:58Speaker 1: know he's a murderer, but yeah, who cares. He's a
- 31:01Speaker 1: bad person. Okay. They bring Jenna into interview her and
- 31:06Speaker 1: she tells a completely different story. She says, this is
- 31:09Speaker 1: what I was talking about when they talked to Jenna.
- 31:10Speaker 1: She is she ain't right.
- 31:13Speaker 2: Dead inside, Yes, she's dead inside.
- 31:16Speaker 1: She says that Kenneth showed up at her house. He
- 31:18Speaker 1: was in the military had gotten out when he arrived
- 31:21Speaker 1: at the home. No one else was there. Her brother
- 31:23Speaker 1: was at school, her dad was at work, and Ronda
- 31:26Speaker 1: had gone out of town the night before for a
- 31:27Speaker 1: work conference. They were down in Jenna's room when Jenna
- 31:31Speaker 1: decided to go upstairs and grab a knife and head
- 31:33Speaker 1: back to the room. Like this was before Ronda showed
- 31:35Speaker 1: up or anything like that. She just went upstairs to
- 31:37Speaker 1: get a knife. So obviously it's clear to police that
- 31:40Speaker 1: they were talking about what they were going to do.
- 31:43Speaker 1: Like they were discussing it and needed to prepare and stuff.
- 31:47Speaker 1: She didn't say that they were disgusting murder. She just said,
- 31:49Speaker 1: I went upstairs and got a knife.
- 31:51Speaker 2: Case I need to make a saying which in my room.
- 31:53Speaker 1: Yeah, So, like I said, investigator knew at this point
- 31:58Speaker 1: this was like a premeditated situation. Ronda arrived back home
- 32:02Speaker 1: and went downstairs to the basement to do some laundry.
- 32:04Speaker 1: She walked into Jenna's room, and Jenna said she got
- 32:07Speaker 1: mad because Ronda asked her why she wasn't at school.
- 32:10Speaker 1: She's like, hey, you're supposed to be at school, what's
- 32:12Speaker 1: going on. Jenna didn't want to answer her, so she
- 32:15Speaker 1: said said Ronda said something smart to hers. What she said?
- 32:20Speaker 1: That's when Jenna attacked her and started to choke Ronda.
- 32:23Speaker 1: Now this time Kenny was hiding in the closet, but
- 32:25Speaker 1: when Jenna attacked Ronda, he came out to help her.
- 32:28Speaker 1: At this point, they had choked Ronda enough that she
- 32:31Speaker 1: had become unconscious. And again, she's just telling this stuff
- 32:34Speaker 1: just matter of fact. A fifteen year old like this
- 32:38Speaker 1: is crazy. Anyways, So when she was unconscious, they dragged
- 32:44Speaker 1: her to the other room and This is when Jenna
- 32:46Speaker 1: took the bag and wrapped it around her head and
- 32:49Speaker 1: then put duct tape on her mouth to keep her
- 32:51Speaker 1: from breathing. Now, this is when Jenna said she picked
- 32:54Speaker 1: up the knife and began stabbing her in the neck.
- 32:57Speaker 1: She said that she had to stab her multiple times
- 32:59Speaker 1: because the knife wouldn't go through. She said that Kenneth
- 33:03Speaker 1: was in shock from this and actually threw up in
- 33:05Speaker 1: the trash can. This is when they realize when they
- 33:08Speaker 1: went to leave that Kenneth's phone was dead, so that's
- 33:11Speaker 1: why they headed to Walmart to get that charger before
- 33:14Speaker 1: they headed out. She said that after the Walmart, they
- 33:16Speaker 1: stopped at a gas station and she threw the knife away.
- 33:21Speaker 1: So she Jenna did this whole thing to her stepmother.
- 33:24Speaker 1: I mean, Kenneth's over pukin in the trash can because
- 33:27Speaker 1: he's like this is this is insane? Yeah, this is
- 33:31Speaker 1: absolutely insane. But I guess he was in love with
- 33:33Speaker 1: Jenna and went along with it. I mean, she said,
- 33:37Speaker 1: or she said that he helped her choke her, so
- 33:40Speaker 1: he did participate, but probably when it got to all
- 33:44Speaker 1: like the knife and stuff that it was.
- 33:46Speaker 2: Probably whenever she started wrapping the bag around.
- 33:49Speaker 1: Her head, probably very shocking for him.
- 33:52Speaker 2: In October twenty sixteen, Jenna was officially charged with the
- 33:58Speaker 2: complicity to commit murder and theft of a stolen vehicle.
- 34:03Speaker 2: She stole her own car.
- 34:04Speaker 1: I guess they stole Ronda's car.
- 34:06Speaker 2: Oh, yes, I thought it was Jenna's car.
- 34:09Speaker 1: No, it' that's true.
- 34:11Speaker 2: She's only fifteen.
- 34:12Speaker 1: Yes, you've read that part too about Ronda's car at
- 34:14Speaker 1: the Walmart.
- 34:16Speaker 2: I thought, I said Jenna's car.
- 34:17Speaker 1: Well you made if you did, you said it wrong.
- 34:20Speaker 2: That's what were you doing while I was screwing it up.
- 34:24Speaker 2: I was looking at your phone.
- 34:27Speaker 1: No, you were messing things up, and I was.
- 34:30Speaker 2: Thinking, yes, I can't read.
- 34:36Speaker 1: Yes, that's what I was thinking. How do I fix this?
- 34:39Speaker 1: Is what I was thinking. So if he said that wrong,
- 34:42Speaker 1: it was Ronda's car, not Jenna's car, it was Ronda's.
- 34:44Speaker 2: Well, how are you going to fix this when your
- 34:46Speaker 2: four kids? Deep am?
- 34:47Speaker 1: I go, oh my god, Stuart, just come on, finish
- 34:50Speaker 1: up now.
- 34:51Speaker 2: They charged her with this due to the fact that
- 34:54Speaker 2: Kenneth wrote that note confessing one thing and Jenna's confession
- 34:58Speaker 2: to police was another. Because if they went for with
- 35:03Speaker 2: the first degree murder that she had planned this all out.
- 35:07Speaker 2: Her defense attorney would be like, well, Kenneth said all
- 35:10Speaker 2: this in the note, So they'd go back and forth.
- 35:13Speaker 2: The jury might have quit her on the first grade murder.
- 35:15Speaker 1: Oh yes, you have to remember you're sitting in a
- 35:17Speaker 1: jury with the fifteen year old girl, gonna throw her
- 35:20Speaker 1: in jail for the rest of her life or or
- 35:24Speaker 1: possibly well I don't know if they have the death
- 35:26Speaker 1: penalty in Kentucky, but I don't think that they would go. No,
- 35:29Speaker 1: they would but like throwing her in jail. And so
- 35:31Speaker 1: there were were They were very They went back and
- 35:32Speaker 1: forth because they were very concerned that the jury might
- 35:35Speaker 1: look at the twenty year old Kenneth jen'sis psychopath, Okay,
- 35:39Speaker 1: but I think she might be getting out, so we
- 35:41Speaker 1: don't need to be saint.
- 35:41Speaker 2: He well, it's twenty sixteen.
- 35:44Speaker 1: Oh so anyway, it's get close. It's getting close. We
- 35:47Speaker 1: gotta go. We're gonna have to go into witness protection
- 35:49Speaker 1: after this one.
- 35:50Speaker 2: We're moving to California.
- 35:52Speaker 1: Imagine the Imagine the jury. You might have some it's Kentucky.
- 35:56Speaker 1: You might have some Southern Christian folk there look looking
- 36:00Speaker 1: at a fifteen year old girl and a twenty year
- 36:02Speaker 1: old man that is now deceased, but twenty year old
- 36:06Speaker 1: man that was in the military. Which one would you like,
- 36:08Speaker 1: I said, which one would you think actually did this?
- 36:10Speaker 2: He put her up to.
- 36:11Speaker 1: Yes, he manipulated her. He manipulated Yeah, so they had
- 36:16Speaker 1: they went back and forth, which there was. I mean,
- 36:18Speaker 1: he was a twenty year old man. He should not
- 36:20Speaker 1: have been with this fifteen year old girl. But he
- 36:23Speaker 1: definitely did not make her do what she did. That
- 36:26Speaker 1: was all on her. So yeah, so that's why they
- 36:28Speaker 1: went back and forth on whether to actually go to
- 36:30Speaker 1: trial and what to charge her with.
- 36:33Speaker 2: Yeah. So after all this back and forth about what
- 36:35Speaker 2: they should do, I'm not sure who brought up the
- 36:37Speaker 2: plea deal. I guess the prosecutors.
- 36:38Speaker 1: Brought up the prosecutor where are you?
- 36:41Speaker 2: Because the the defense attorney had been like, hey, she'll
- 36:44Speaker 2: plead to this if you go you got some kind
- 36:46Speaker 2: of deal, they.
- 36:47Speaker 1: Said, the prosecutors did the plea.
- 36:49Speaker 2: Deal, so they brought the plea deal. In twenty nineteen,
- 36:53Speaker 2: Jenna pleaded guilty to manslaughter and was sentenced to fifteen
- 36:57Speaker 2: years in jail. Her father said that that was nowhere
- 37:00Speaker 2: near long enough or what she had done. To Ronda.
- 37:03Speaker 1: I think he said he did, he has spoken to her.
- 37:07Speaker 1: I don't know. He's in such a weird spot. I
- 37:08Speaker 1: feel bad for him because he he really loved Ronda
- 37:10Speaker 1: and this is like really disturbing what his daughter did. Yeah,
- 37:14Speaker 1: and she's going to be out here in like five years.
- 37:17Speaker 1: So yes, hopefully she doesn't listen to anything so and
- 37:22Speaker 1: come after us.
- 37:23Speaker 2: But she might because she's only going to be thirty ish.
- 37:27Speaker 1: Oh god, she's gonna have her whole life ahead of her.
- 37:29Speaker 2: She's gonna be working out in prison. Oh god, be
- 37:32Speaker 2: all buffed up.
- 37:34Speaker 1: All right. So that is our case for the week.
- 37:37Speaker 1: So let's let's heart up and get into our because
- 37:39Speaker 1: we're probably running out of time with the children and
- 37:42Speaker 1: the children, so let's get into our y'all need Jesus.
- 37:45Speaker 1: So I'm gonna take this one because we were just
- 37:47Speaker 1: going to do STU was unprepared, so I said, let's
- 37:49Speaker 1: just do.
- 37:50Speaker 2: I didn't know we're recording the to day.
- 37:51Speaker 1: Some general you know, we record every other four weeks. Okay,
- 37:56Speaker 1: you need to have something ready, so let's just start
- 38:00Speaker 1: with We're going to talk about a few things happening
- 38:02Speaker 1: around good old West Texas in Midlands. So our first
- 38:06Speaker 1: story is, oh, let's update you on the the biker
- 38:11Speaker 1: ging situation. So on the if you're if you don't remember,
- 38:14Speaker 1: on the Loop around nine o'clock in the morning, a
- 38:16Speaker 1: respectful hour where people are heading commuting to and from
- 38:20Speaker 1: their work, children are going to care. This is a weekday.
- 38:24Speaker 1: At nine am on the Loop in like the main
- 38:28Speaker 1: part of the Loop, there was a shootout or someone
- 38:32Speaker 1: drove by and shot a guy on a motorcycle who
- 38:35Speaker 1: was part of part of a biker ging. It was
- 38:37Speaker 1: the Mongols and the Bandidos I think was.
- 38:43Speaker 2: The But was there a gang rivalry?
- 38:47Speaker 1: I don't. I really don't know.
- 38:48Speaker 2: It's a Mongol who was shot, but we don't know
- 38:51Speaker 2: who shot.
- 38:52Speaker 1: We don't know who shot them, the bandit. I'm not
- 38:55Speaker 1: throwing shade at anybody. Let me tell you you guys,
- 38:57Speaker 1: do you okay? Whatever side you're on, that's the right side, okay.
- 39:02Speaker 1: I'm just giving you fat if you're asking me. I
- 39:04Speaker 1: think both of you are great. Okay. So then the
- 39:09Speaker 1: hospital goes on lockdown because the guys in the hospital, well,
- 39:11Speaker 1: then they have to put the whole hospital in lockdown,
- 39:13Speaker 1: which would be really scary. If you were having like
- 39:15Speaker 1: a baby or something, I'm sure, and find out the
- 39:18Speaker 1: whole hospital's lockdown. There's police over place because they needed
- 39:20Speaker 1: to protect the guy that was in there.
- 39:21Speaker 2: Yeah, your husband just went to water Burger to get
- 39:23Speaker 2: some get.
- 39:24Speaker 1: A couple, so make sure no one came in and
- 39:27Speaker 1: tried to finish the job. Basically, So this is this
- 39:30Speaker 1: was scary to me because this happened like at nine
- 39:32Speaker 1: o'clock in the morning, Like you could be driving like
- 39:35Speaker 1: normal people are like driving around doing stuff. But most
- 39:38Speaker 1: of time, if you hear this stuff happened at like
- 39:40Speaker 1: three am, and some like backstreets or something, you're like, oh, okay,
- 39:43Speaker 1: that's like whatever about it.
- 39:45Speaker 2: That's about the time of the night that stuff like that.
- 39:48Speaker 1: Yeah, you're like you should be a home okay. So
- 39:50Speaker 1: that was the one. Oh and the big thing was
- 39:52Speaker 1: is that in the subdivision next to ours, they raided
- 39:55Speaker 1: the house that morning and it was some of the
- 39:57Speaker 1: gang members were living over there, and so they what's
- 40:03Speaker 1: happened scary in Midland? Is this really? Like you know,
- 40:07Speaker 1: usually there's a certain parts of town where you expect
- 40:09Speaker 1: things like to happen or whatever, but it's like, literally,
- 40:11Speaker 1: it doesn't matter where you live here, there's a chance
- 40:14Speaker 1: there's like a whole I mean.
- 40:16Speaker 2: There's you got to you got to be in a
- 40:18Speaker 2: really exclusive part of Midland and that.
- 40:20Speaker 1: Probably No, that doesn't even happen anymore.
- 40:22Speaker 2: No, some of the neighborhood.
- 40:24Speaker 1: No, my old boss he has the one that had
- 40:26Speaker 1: the car run through is uh he lives in a
- 40:30Speaker 1: nice neighborhood over there, and he had the car go
- 40:32Speaker 1: through his house, right, Yeah, and he lives in a
- 40:35Speaker 1: nice the nice neighborhood over there, just twice his one
- 40:40Speaker 1: other time it happened hit his truck. Yeah, and I
- 40:44Speaker 1: was like, where do you what is going on? And
- 40:46Speaker 1: he doesn't even he lives in like a back in
- 40:48Speaker 1: a nice neighborhood, like one of the nicer neighborhoods. We
- 40:51Speaker 1: live in a what I thought was a decent neighborhood.
- 40:54Speaker 2: But apparently it's the greatest neighborhood ever. Yes, if you're
- 40:56Speaker 2: going to buy.
- 40:57Speaker 1: This, you're going to buy this house. It's the greatest
- 40:59Speaker 1: neighborhood ever. Okay, So that's that story. Next up we
- 41:03Speaker 1: have the oh, i'll say the one from smart. So
- 41:07Speaker 1: the next one we have the big one that happened
- 41:11Speaker 1: was Okay, so around one am, so this is a
- 41:14Speaker 1: little bit more in the middle of than I get
- 41:16Speaker 1: one am again over there by the Loop and like
- 41:19Speaker 1: in the normal parts of town and stuff like that,
- 41:22Speaker 1: like regular old businesses and everything all around there. The
- 41:26Speaker 1: Barnes and Noble. There was a high speed chase. So
- 41:31Speaker 1: there was five teenager slash kids at one am. So
- 41:36Speaker 1: they go into this neighborhood and this guy comes out
- 41:40Speaker 1: chasing him them in his truck. He thinks that they're
- 41:43Speaker 1: breaking into vehicles and stuff, which I mean they there's
- 41:48Speaker 1: a chance they might happen either way. The guy is
- 41:51Speaker 1: like super super drunk or whatever, gets in his truck,
- 41:55Speaker 1: chases the kids. They crash into a retaining wall under
- 41:59Speaker 1: the loop, going a one hundred and fifteen miles per hour.
- 42:02Speaker 1: It kills the eighteen year old driver. The four other
- 42:05Speaker 1: were in critical conditions. So the guy gets arrested for
- 42:09Speaker 1: They have this on like security camera because he's driving
- 42:11Speaker 1: through a neighbor He's driving through like a normal neighborhood,
- 42:13Speaker 1: like they've got security. Yes, he's just driving through a
- 42:17Speaker 1: subdivision or whatever, and so they have video of him driving.
- 42:22Speaker 1: They catch him very quickly. He had been drinking. He
- 42:26Speaker 1: says that he thought they were breaking into vehicles and
- 42:29Speaker 1: he chased them off whatever, and then they crashed or whatever,
- 42:32Speaker 1: going one hundred and some miles an hour. And apparently
- 42:35Speaker 1: the kids had called nine one one while he was
- 42:37Speaker 1: chasing him just before they crashed, saying that this guy
- 42:39Speaker 1: was chasing them and stuff. So he gets arrested and
- 42:42Speaker 1: he gets put up on like a million dollars bond
- 42:45Speaker 1: and he posted or whatever. Meanwhile the other four are
- 42:49Speaker 1: in critical condition. Well just yees today or yesterday? There
- 42:54Speaker 1: actually was it. They didn't I'm guessing all the people
- 42:56Speaker 1: the other kids in the car were under age because
- 42:58Speaker 1: they didn't release, like in any information about the rest
- 43:01Speaker 1: of the people in the car, and normally, you know,
- 43:04Speaker 1: if it's an adult, they put the ages in the
- 43:05Speaker 1: names and stuff. So we find out there was a
- 43:08Speaker 1: twelve year old in the car at this in this
- 43:10Speaker 1: car at one o'clock in the morning, and they he
- 43:14Speaker 1: passed away from his injuries. So this is all happening
- 43:17Speaker 1: this guy. So he gets arrested again, he gets a
- 43:19Speaker 1: two million dollar bond and he posts that bell.
- 43:22Speaker 2: So he is three hundred thousand dollars and yes, paid
- 43:28Speaker 2: and paid, which is all it.
- 43:29Speaker 1: Now because this is a public podcast, I'm not going
- 43:32Speaker 1: to go into any more speculation. So we're going to
- 43:36Speaker 1: move on to the next one. This one happened last night. Okay,
- 43:38Speaker 1: guys at a park over here where families go, people
- 43:45Speaker 1: go fishing, real family friendly. Okay, there's a pond over
- 43:51Speaker 1: there people go fishing in. Really I think so someone
- 43:54Speaker 1: told me that they go fishing over So, no, you don't.
- 43:57Speaker 1: You have four children, you can't go fishing the house.
- 44:01Speaker 1: We're definitely not. We ain't going to no parks or
- 44:03Speaker 1: nothing in this town anymore. So over there at the park,
- 44:06Speaker 1: all these people I started getting all these like next
- 44:08Speaker 1: door notications, like does anybody hear gunshots? Which around here,
- 44:11Speaker 1: I mean it happens, Okay, it's not that uncommon, so
- 44:16Speaker 1: they hear.
- 44:16Speaker 2: Should be though it's disturbing.
- 44:19Speaker 1: It should be disturbing, but really out the.
- 44:21Speaker 2: Contrary and Louisianne, if our gunshots will be like ask
- 44:23Speaker 2: somebody's out there hunting with their.
- 44:24Speaker 1: In town, you shouldn't really be hearing gunshots. So they
- 44:28Speaker 1: heard a lot of gunshots. Someone said they counted on
- 44:30Speaker 1: their they had the audio on their thing. It was
- 44:33Speaker 1: twenty eight and it sounded like a like a like
- 44:36Speaker 1: an automatic rifle or something like that, and then they
- 44:39Speaker 1: heard six like pistol shots or whatever. So this all
- 44:42Speaker 1: makes sense after we find out the story. So there
- 44:45Speaker 1: was a shootout in this park at like it wasn't
- 44:49Speaker 1: even that late, Like it was late, but it was
- 44:51Speaker 1: night time. But I mean, you don't get dark here
- 44:53Speaker 1: till like nine o'clock at nights. There could be I
- 44:55Speaker 1: want to say it was around ten thirty eleven o'clock
- 44:58Speaker 1: at night that this happened. So they hear a bunch
- 45:02Speaker 1: of shots, and uh, everyone's trying to fare out what's
- 45:06Speaker 1: going on. Well, apparently there was a shootout with the
- 45:08Speaker 1: police and this guy is still on the loose. So
- 45:11Speaker 1: the next morning I was expecting them to have caught
- 45:14Speaker 1: the guy they whenever I read all this, but they had,
- 45:17Speaker 1: and there's like there's drones and helicopters. They are looking
- 45:19Speaker 1: for this guy. He apparently drove his car to another
- 45:21Speaker 1: location and they found it there, and he's out loose
- 45:24Speaker 1: right now in Midland, and he's getting charged with like
- 45:26Speaker 1: capital attempted capital murder of a police officer. So that
- 45:31Speaker 1: one makes me nervous because he ain't got nothing to lose,
- 45:34Speaker 1: and he's on the loose right now currently they do
- 45:36Speaker 1: not know where he's.
- 45:38Speaker 2: Door and take somebody instage or whatever he's got to do.
- 45:41Speaker 1: So call me paranoid, but we were gonna go for
- 45:43Speaker 1: a walk tonight and I'm not going for walk. I'm
- 45:45Speaker 1: just not doing I don't know. It makes me very
- 45:46Speaker 1: nervous about I've heard things like, you know, like you
- 45:50Speaker 1: could just come upon someone like that and then they
- 45:53Speaker 1: just shoot you or whatever, because he has He's literally
- 45:56Speaker 1: is if you shoot at police twenty eight times, you
- 45:58Speaker 1: don't you don't care anymore.
- 46:00Speaker 2: You know, you're just suicide by cop.
- 46:03Speaker 1: Yeah, you don't care. You're just, yeah, you don't have
- 46:05Speaker 1: anything else to lose. You're already gonna go to jail
- 46:07Speaker 1: for a lot, probably the rest of your life. So
- 46:09Speaker 1: what do you care. So anyway, so that's the happenings
- 46:11Speaker 1: in Midland right now. So I'll let you know they
- 46:13Speaker 1: find here. Yes, there's a lot of people teaching. Oh
- 46:16Speaker 1: then the other one was real sad that car wreck
- 46:21Speaker 1: with the seventeen year.
- 46:22Speaker 2: Old and the thirteen day Oh yeah.
- 46:25Speaker 1: Yes, someone was driving down the road, didn't have the
- 46:28Speaker 1: the seventeen year old. There was The seventeen year old
- 46:30Speaker 1: was the mom. She was in the car with her mom.
- 46:32Speaker 1: They were driving around and had the thirteen year day
- 46:35Speaker 1: old baby just in their lap or whatever, and had
- 46:39Speaker 1: a crash and the seventeen year old and the little
- 46:42Speaker 1: baby died. Just drive. It would happened in the middle
- 46:45Speaker 1: of the day or whatever. It's crazy around here. Let
- 46:49Speaker 1: me tell you, I've seen people drive. I saw people
- 46:51Speaker 1: one time I was driving. Well that time I saw
- 46:53Speaker 1: the body on the side of the road. Remember that
- 46:55Speaker 1: one coming home from work. Remember when I saw the
- 46:58Speaker 1: body on the side of the road and I had
- 46:59Speaker 1: to call and there like, oh, yeah, we'll go check
- 47:01Speaker 1: it out.
- 47:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 47:03Speaker 1: I also saw on the same one when I was
- 47:05Speaker 1: driving they were getting on that that road that goes
- 47:10Speaker 1: to Odessa, the role. It's like seventy miles an hour.
- 47:12Speaker 1: Just like kids in the back just turn around looking
- 47:16Speaker 1: out the window. It's like, what do you even do?
- 47:18Speaker 1: Like the cops are too busy trying to stop the
- 47:22Speaker 1: the biker gangs and the shootouts in the park. They're
- 47:26Speaker 1: not going to have time for this because.
- 47:27Speaker 2: Your children aren't restrained in the Yeah.
- 47:29Speaker 1: It's just it's rough out here, guys. I know it's
- 47:31Speaker 1: rough another place too, but it feels very like it
- 47:34Speaker 1: feels like it's very close to home around here because
- 47:37Speaker 1: it is. It's it's a lot.
- 47:40Speaker 2: So why I don't leave the house.
- 47:43Speaker 1: Yeah, we try, We honestly know. It's not that I'm
- 47:45Speaker 1: like scared that everything's bad's gonna happen when we leave
- 47:48Speaker 1: the house. We do get out, like take the children's stuff,
- 47:50Speaker 1: But it's just like at some point it's like there's
- 47:52Speaker 1: so much shit going on, like why are that the
- 47:53Speaker 1: park doing this? I wouldn't put it past someone to
- 47:56Speaker 1: do this at three pm at the park, like and
- 47:59Speaker 1: in this town, no, it would happen, so yes they
- 48:02Speaker 1: would so anyway, So it's just crazy. And the drivers
- 48:05Speaker 1: out here are they are terrible. Although them people in Florida, it.
- 48:09Speaker 2: Was rough that turnpike was that was scary.
- 48:12Speaker 1: I did not like that at all now because.
- 48:13Speaker 2: They would there was like three or four lanes. They
- 48:16Speaker 2: would just use all of them to get around all
- 48:18Speaker 2: the cars. You'd see a guy coming up in the
- 48:20Speaker 2: far left and he couldn't get by, so he'd go
- 48:22Speaker 2: all the way to the right lane, come back, cut
- 48:25Speaker 2: you off to get back to the left lane. Whatever
- 48:27Speaker 2: they and I used to drive on the I five
- 48:29Speaker 2: in California right there at the Orange crush at the
- 48:31Speaker 2: four or five and the five, and that was terrible.
- 48:35Speaker 2: Driving through Houston is terrible, but.
- 48:38Speaker 1: It ain't nowhere near as bad as driving on that turn.
- 48:40Speaker 1: I've never been like, actually, I've never been scared in
- 48:43Speaker 1: Houston because it was.
- 48:44Speaker 2: So long, and Houston is just messed up because you
- 48:47Speaker 2: got to pay attention to all the interchanges and if
- 48:49Speaker 2: you don't get over, you're gonna be on the wrong
- 48:51Speaker 2: damn highway. So you got to make sure you're in
- 48:53Speaker 2: the right lane. That's where it's and then there's all
- 48:55Speaker 2: the traffic. But these people are just wild.
- 48:57Speaker 1: I mean it's pretty sketchy too, going between Beaumont in Charles. Yeah,
- 49:02Speaker 1: it's grill sketch.
- 49:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 49:05Speaker 1: But anyways, all right.
