- 0:40Welcome back to hamster was a blunt penknife.
- 0:44This is mr. Peter and hello.
- 0:49And this is hello. I'm my name is Joe Ford.
- 0:54I've done one or two of these. Welcome to episode 3 of the
- 1:00Romans, which is called conspiracy.
- 1:04It's know that all roads lead to Rome.
- 1:10Oh I see they are traitors all roads lead to Rome conspiracy
- 1:14infernal. Boom and I are I wonder what
- 1:18could be going on next. They are obviously, as usual.
- 1:20I've got a question for you at the start of this episode.
- 1:23Do gone is the treatment of Barbara in this a little
- 1:27problematic. No.
- 1:29Okay. I think it's that was a very
- 1:32succinct answer. Thank you.
- 1:34I think it's all about the context.
- 1:36I think not just wet when it was made, I think, I think she's in
- 1:42the court of Nero. I think that Yeah.
- 1:47What. Okay, but I feel like I'm gonna
- 1:48get canceled. I'm glad that I'm not very
- 1:50active on Twitter. Have you heard this podcast?
- 1:53I'm just I don't have your app but the fact that I haven't been
- 1:56cancelled yet, if it got that miracle, if this wasn't a
- 2:00comedy, would it be a problem? Yeah, probably, yeah, but do
- 2:05not, I mean like there's a lot of Barbara being So, of a target
- 2:12of pursuit or juvenile phase basil.
- 2:15In case of fairness? Yeah, an object really mentions
- 2:19that I mean, no. Yeah, I think, yeah, I think
- 2:26that a lot of stars I was reading about the fact, this
- 2:28probably came about because there's Derek Francis was
- 2:33friends with Jaclyn Hill and her husband and you've been
- 2:37apparently badgering them for Apart since the very start.
- 2:43So I think this was probably if not written for him then it was
- 2:46the whole business is basically like, right?
- 2:48It's family friend, Plus Let's chase around and have a bit of
- 2:55fun, fun in it. And I think it is a bit
- 2:58unfortunate. I'm sure I've read that this was
- 3:00broadcast on the evening of Churchill's.
- 3:04Winston Churchill State, funeral being on TV.
- 3:07Oh wow. Okay.
- 3:08Or if not the Deer then it was like the day after saw that I've
- 3:12read very stuff about the mood at the time are not have been at
- 3:16is an awkward juxtaposition of programs if they went on after
- 3:20the other. This and now for something a bit
- 3:25lighter, although I don't think this would be dumb.
- 3:29Now, you wouldn't have other Amy potent being chased around by a
- 3:35sec spaced? Would you not me me?
- 3:38Does the Chaser we see the end of the Angels two-parter?
- 3:43It's also scary started on that, right?
- 3:46But there's also and Jim's. The first has it has an eye on
- 3:53Ryan was he calling a Nubian Princess or something?
- 3:56Yeah. Yes.
- 4:16Because basically I'm going to spend the entire half hour
- 4:18laughing at this, but I wanted to just get the any awkwardness
- 4:21out of the way now. I'm kind of like my friend
- 4:24Fraser, who I was talking about with this this morning said
- 4:28that, he thought he loves his story but he finds this episode
- 4:31really uncomfortable to watch. He's in the disadvantageous
- 4:35position of being. One of the few straight men that
- 4:38likes Doctor Who so seeing women Menace like this is not really
- 4:42as bag, but I think that there's or I'd find that a lot more
- 4:46uncomfortable to watch the keys of marinus situation because the
- 4:49mountain this is real. And I think that we'll talk, And
- 4:52what Barbara's intelligence and the fact that, you know, that
- 4:55she's going to outwit him, you know that he's a buffoon, he's a
- 5:00bit, it's so high end, isn't it where it's almost like a trump
- 5:04esque? Like he is like a caricature of
- 5:09a, is just running around after the and, you know, that she's
- 5:13going to just like to know. I believe, I believe there is
- 5:17footage of trump running around the White House after one of
- 5:20his, you know, thing. Let's not go there.
- 5:25Well, okay. Well, let's skip into episode 3.
- 5:29Yeah, let's let's be the judge also because we're watching, I'm
- 5:34going to count as in here. Yes, four, three, two, one off
- 5:40we go. There is a lot of comedy in this
- 5:44episode though. I think this might be the most
- 5:46overtly comic Doctor. Who it isn't?
- 5:50It? I mean, we're so looking at it
- 5:51actually survives Because can you imagine all of the I mean I
- 5:55mean I've got the audio, the color, I never know what I call
- 6:00it when it's the Lost episode. It's not a lost episode but it's
- 6:03rated by William Russell. Our lights out soundtrack the
- 6:07soundtrack. Yeah, the Ritz Entre, but
- 6:12imagine some of these If that's the only thing you've got to go
- 6:17on, it would be at Celestial toymaker level of where, what
- 6:21the hell's going on on screen at the moment and you know, the
- 6:25imagine that any snap. So just be barbecuing, you know
- 6:28what I mean? Yeah.
- 6:33And that's if you survive for this or not.
- 6:35But yeah, there's obviously there's some stories where the,
- 6:39where the Dawn and obviously the mythmakers it's that wasn't so
- 6:42bad Made series 3. Isn't When the walls didn't want
- 6:46this pain for the mirror and the Mythic is one where.
- 6:49Again, there's a lot of business that probably isn't picked up on
- 6:54the audio and I feel like would be missing so much.
- 6:57Without this myth makers is another one like this though,
- 7:00isn't it? Where it is very funny, but boys
- 7:05got a bite, you know? Well, that one is very much
- 7:09three episodes of Comedy followed by a final episode of
- 7:12bleakness. Mmm, I'll say that's through of
- 7:15the gun fires. Well, the gun fires is 3x.
- 7:18Yeah, just yeah, it's like a bloodbath.
- 7:21Mmm. Yeah, that's true.
- 7:24And up all those sorry to say, this doesn't end with like, you
- 7:27know, something dramatic happening.
- 7:29All of Rome is burning and when the score is quite a lot of
- 7:32people dislocated or click default like on top.
- 7:38Yeah, I mean, I don't know what the casualty rate was of the
- 7:41great fire of Rome, but there is a William Hartnell Wife met
- 7:45laughing, his head off. You can't say that.
- 7:49This is my fault, my fault. Ha ha.
- 7:54We had to fire s. Not that model of like the
- 7:56Romans and the gun fires in the myth.
- 8:00May be is there's in in the something inevitable that it's
- 8:04building up to, yes. There's either the Trojan Horse
- 8:09or the gunfight at the o.k. Corral which you know, that.
- 8:14It's ultimately going to happen and it's almost quite fun with
- 8:17figuring out how it's going to happen.
- 8:20You're right. And you know, it's true of the
- 8:21mascara as well, but even though it's not as well, known the fact
- 8:25that it is called the massacre of some more companies even set
- 8:29on some Bartholomew's. Eve, you kind of know there was
- 8:32a massacre. Come in, where's the Smugglers?
- 8:35It's anybody's guess. Really?
- 8:36And the Highlanders is in that highlight on, this is framed
- 8:40weirdly and it starts at the very end of the Battle of
- 8:43Culloden Yeah, after the drama yes of calm has happened and
- 8:48it's just sort of like the survivors of it or whatever but
- 8:53and then becomes all piratey often.
- 8:55There's a reason a lot of people forget about that one, you know.
- 8:57Yeah. I'm not a fun.
- 9:00Do you think that was a good point to phase them out the
- 9:02historical sword. You wish they'd kept.
- 9:05Kevin Caron, fractions time, I wish to do a lot more sort of
- 9:10pseudo, historicals, the sort of time Warriors types, and I think
- 9:14that it just does. It's a whole thing of it.
- 9:17The baby, the baby. See, do all this costume drama?
- 9:19Well, if they've got all this stuff in stock and it can be
- 9:22done, well, the might as well, I think where it's really telling
- 9:25is when you hit the space pirates and sort of light
- 9:29they've run out of Science, Fiction Tales to tell and then
- 9:33if so one of the war games It's and it's so gripping your back
- 9:38in his first time in what feels like forever and it feels so
- 9:42refreshing. I've got him.
- 9:45I always defend the time. Monster this own, especially the
- 9:52the Atlantis episodes because I think again watching them all
- 9:56the stories and all of which I did is just how refreshing.
- 10:00Again, it is to be back in history and it might be a
- 10:04Shakespeare All over again, doesn't it?
- 10:06I mean, it doesn't have to be though.
- 10:07I mean, it's not the most, well, executed Atlantis of all time in
- 10:12the it isn't most gripping story of all time, but I think it's
- 10:15just the fact that we're back and it feels different but and
- 10:21the ship bound scenes in Carnival of monsters and 1926
- 10:25and the time, it's just because it's a little taste.
- 10:28And then suddenly when you get into Hinge kit, they started
- 10:30doing actual historical settings again that land.
- 10:33That's right. Yeah.
- 10:37Okay, I learned something about papaya.
- 10:40Nero's. Wife in the documentary, The
- 10:43really horrifying apparently about a year after this was
- 10:47saying she was pregnant with Nero's child and not laughing.
- 10:54At that time. He kicked her to death.
- 11:03While she was pregnant. I know that things back then.
- 11:07Not tell you what it looks. Doggy-dog world.
- 11:10I thought I wish. Did you Linus hadn't drunk?
- 11:12The Drinker machines. I think he liner to be light and
- 11:16so he says no one comes to this thing for historical accuracy.
- 11:21Okay I look see, I love that. Vicki.
- 11:24Does that laws? Where she doesn't nervous laugh
- 11:26and I picked up on this that she is moment where she really
- 11:31shouldn't be laughing. Yeah, and I'll try to think of
- 11:35some other ones where all their nowhere planet, and we're
- 11:39Planet. When she says, Barbara says, she
- 11:42felt like she was being someone hooked on and she laughs then
- 11:47the somewhat maybe there's another one in the myth makers
- 11:49but it's a little and I think when when she's told that the
- 11:53traveling time or whatever in in the rescue and it's just such a
- 11:57really endearing i-i've seen voluntary laugh at nervous
- 12:03moments that they, you know, like what it's a bit and I think
- 12:05it's something we can tell it more in a branded really thought
- 12:07about it. And having that continuity, oh
- 12:09my God, look at this dashing about these six.
- 12:15This reminds me of a Doctor Who convention look dashing up and
- 12:17down the corridors or being pursued by a car when you back.
- 12:21Yeah, this subplot with the poisoner.
- 12:27I think this is really nice as well because there's a lot of
- 12:29dark humor here about. No, I don't know who these
- 12:31people are but you know, the poisons for them.
- 12:34I love all that. She's so kind in the love, I
- 12:36would such a different mindset. It's a bit like, The way that
- 12:40Susan and the hall arranged marriage thing.
- 12:44Just like does not compute with her.
- 12:46Yeah. But with this is a whole
- 12:48different ideology of how debt life and death is viewed in.
- 12:52Anything really fun to do where she switches the drinks.
- 12:56Yeah, she goes. By the way I think of poison
- 13:00season it again the irony of again, doesn't it?
- 13:06Because then look papaya comes in and Tells the poisoner to be
- 13:12executed. Oh yeah, yeah, actually submit.
- 13:15I was going to say, maybe it all feels so bad, the pulp here, but
- 13:19I mean, an unborn child in one thing sir, exactly.
- 13:24I just think that was that was just how you got a good about in
- 13:27the Roman Empire's. You just murdered people at your
- 13:30positions of power. This whole Joe, do this whole
- 13:33joke about the switching of the to drink is inspired all of that
- 13:38bubble The Bullying like poison as well.
- 13:40And Always sort of plotting of you ever watched?
- 13:47Watched it during lockdown with my dad's room like the HP or
- 13:51room. Hi Lindsay.
- 13:54Duncan is that a really sort of conniving not connect like just
- 14:00like getting rid of anybody in the way of a sort of thing but
- 14:04she reminds me of a bit a bit like preparing the sap is that
- 14:08Adelaide for more zamar? Yeah.
- 14:10Yeah, yeah. She's the best.
- 14:13About Rome. I remember.
- 14:15Oh, it is the lady says to her in a minute, close your eyes and
- 14:19Nero. Will give you a big surprise.
- 14:21Although, that is probably the rudest line in terms of, I can
- 14:25think of this is hot or joke, but he's not talking to his
- 14:31lapels, he's tugging at his outfit.
- 14:34What a costume is what? I love the heart has such
- 14:37extravagant costumes if Lyle here where it says different
- 14:41fire. I was going to talk to me row
- 14:43but it seems You're busy. I'm gonna love it, isn't it?
- 14:52There's definitely a difference in his characterization though
- 14:54in this second year. Mmm, he he's been sort of the
- 14:59web Planet laughing his head off.
- 15:01Yeah, I remember thinking it's so you leave Susan and then he
- 15:05has a bit of a sleep and he's walking up in the rescue it from
- 15:09the second. He wakes up he's almost like
- 15:11different character. Remember thinking that like this
- 15:14about, where he's let the Tardis land without being at the
- 15:17controls or something. And while there's a oh you never
- 15:20does this and I'm like no. No, he stayed literally a
- 15:22completely different character from this point onwards, this
- 15:25Niko was it? We must never let that happen
- 15:27again. Must we all know, I always love
- 15:32is the bit in the Crusade, where he says, I'm going to be to
- 15:35Vicki. I'm going to be involved in
- 15:37court politics, and that could be very, very dangerous in
- 15:40distance. That's these more grandfather
- 15:45than I think I ever was to Susan.
- 15:48Actually, no, maybe it's all grandfather.
- 15:49Maybe it's like, sort of, like, like Partners in Mischief.
- 15:53Like the very almost, like naughty school kids together.
- 15:57Yeah. But like more like a sort of
- 15:59like mischievous or than a grandfather.
- 16:02I think every time Dennis Spooner gets to because he's
- 16:05script writing this season, when he gets to ride for him, so
- 16:08that's reign of terror and he's bitten Ali in that.
- 16:11Remember, when he's digging up the road and he smacks him.
- 16:14Oh, yeah, space. Many Revolution doesn't it?
- 16:19I then went to this really gets to write him in the time meddler
- 16:23and I have my his scenes with peanut butter worth it great.
- 16:28I think when he has somebody really great a player player off
- 16:32like their Apprentice or Peter, but worth, and that's when he's
- 16:37really is, is p. So, that's a bitch, you're
- 16:41right? I'm meddler.
- 16:42Well, it's like tompa. Can you give him?
- 16:47Like it took us out in the script.
- 16:48He gave him so many great act against Ava.
- 16:51Yeah, even like what's-her-name in the stones of blood Amelia
- 16:55wrong foot. Like when he's not a good strong
- 16:57actor, tube at the comedy against.
- 17:00Yeah, he said oh did you just see that Korea choreography?
- 17:03Then if the two people fighting very lamely would think.
- 17:07So what's well, they're just practicing on.
- 17:09That's fine. I think the other thing I
- 17:11noticed when watching this most recently is the guy is that the
- 17:15slave trader? He has a lot of three different
- 17:19jobs, so he's is the, what is the one?
- 17:22Who's like, captions lives. Tell us lives on auctioning them
- 17:28off. Now, we like sort of training
- 17:30the Gladiators, I'm sure he's in the court at some point, but I
- 17:33guess that The actors good. So it's fine.
- 17:38Yeah, one has to earn a living in the Roman times.
- 17:41That's true of this whole silly little bit as Hartnell back
- 17:45there. I know what this thing.
- 17:47Starts office app and down Nero's, hairy legs.
- 17:50Hmm. This is a raunchy as Doctor Who
- 17:54gets. I'll tell ya.
- 17:56We see Hartnell in a swimsuit in a couple of stories time in
- 18:00their dispersed music which apparently I remember it toy.
- 18:06I was hoping that was really William Hartmann, remember,
- 18:09reading that the fort or still exists in Internet family's
- 18:12possession. This hope that all of this
- 18:18comedy play with the sword, it keeps putting it in Nero's face.
- 18:22Hmm, that's something that we never forget.
- 18:26If this was missing, would never like All the older visual jokes.
- 18:30Mmm. Yeah, I know.
- 18:33But as well, I think I think it was a it was a good instinct to
- 18:38give him this amount of Comedy. I don't think he's more fun than
- 18:42when he's playing stuff like this or in the gun fires where
- 18:44he's got, it's been about the gum.
- 18:47Hmm? With this for me is to talk
- 18:50about the definitive That you really like cracks it with this.
- 18:56It was it I seem to be under the impression that there was some
- 18:58sort of plot going on. And there are ghosts, what?
- 19:00No one said anything to me. And I'm always told about the
- 19:02plots that are going on around here.
- 19:09Okay, all right here, we got relating off to the to the
- 19:12poisoning guy. Don't you love it when harto
- 19:14literally just dashes off? Susan, dear, oh stop.
- 19:17Oh yeah. I mean, that would have had a
- 19:21bit of a dent in history. How they murdered Nero by
- 19:25mistake? Hmm.
- 19:27But you know what's interesting is in the Aztecs.
- 19:29They're playing, you can't change history, not one line for
- 19:33drama. Whereas now, it's just being
- 19:36done for a cheap joke. Yeah, Which lot of hiding hiding
- 19:41under things and behind things in the story, as Vicki under
- 19:44your table, Barbara was under a bed.
- 19:48So I just Vicki had a very mischievous looking over the 22
- 19:55chalices to look at this fabulous banquet, they've just
- 19:58bought out, you know, for the lobster.
- 20:01Now, I'm reliably informed that sitting at tables during a
- 20:04banquet is historically, inaccurate in seeing its seats
- 20:07as well. Probably would have taken up the
- 20:10just lounged There's a wonderful special feature on there, the
- 20:15disk of a blue Peter episode where they lay on a banquet and
- 20:20you got Peter, Purvis they're in for Roman regalia.
- 20:24Eating great with the seventies her.
- 20:27Yeah. They didn't have to do much.
- 20:28Really everyone thinks The pay is plotting that everyone's
- 20:34plotting I feel like the narrative is really on the go
- 20:36now I think like this. So there's a big bunk with going
- 20:39on and they're the sort of cord poisoners just wanting around.
- 20:42I think like I'd be nervous if I was a guest just at drinking
- 20:46anything at this party and it's backwards.
- 20:48Yeah. Well you got two good.
- 20:51Can you believe a ripoff them? The Emperor's New Clothes.
- 20:54So badly in a minute, he plays the light It's a great joke
- 21:00though. What is it?
- 21:02What is it? You can only hear it.
- 21:06Yeah, if you have like, finally to everyone if I was going oh
- 21:12yes, beautiful music. Here's another surprise from
- 21:18Nero. It's a lovely, a but this is
- 21:21important in the Wet Planet, isn't it?
- 21:23Yes. Like the little link connection
- 21:25there but you talk about gags that take a while to pay off the
- 21:31gag that they do me is paid off in the web Planet.
- 21:34Mmm, she goes there because Vicki Vicki only discovers.
- 21:37It doesn't show you an episode 1.
- 21:39She goes, I don't believe you. I'm going to ask him.
- 21:44Oh, that's right. So this is Spencer's, we're
- 21:45supposed to think Barbara's been poisoned?
- 21:47Yes. Oh, hot dogs reaction.
- 21:56Oh well, that's where we don't. Who should be at home with me.
- 21:59Oh yeah, sure. He covers up Mouse and it shut
- 22:01up child. Oh no, I'm watching.
- 22:11Now this is trouble but I watch really good stories.
- 22:14I had not. Yeah, that's exactly the same.
- 22:18Now, that's a bit awkward. The way Barbara flounces out
- 22:20just as they come running in. Yes, but I just love.
- 22:26I have every reason to believe that drink is poisoned, I love
- 22:30this. I love our partners changes the
- 22:32intonation of different poisons. You know what as well alert he's
- 22:37got his arm around Vicki and goes If I could just get my
- 22:39hands on the person responsible, I've never noticed that.
- 22:58Oh yeah, it's the right-sided sophisticated as well and that
- 23:01anybody can get it. I think that there is I'm the
- 23:04poison. I think, the myth bitterest big
- 23:06is the missing is some of them. You do need a surface knowledge
- 23:11of sort of Trojan, the Trojan War and everything it up.
- 23:16Maybe people knew bit more at the time but some of the humor
- 23:20when you really hit if you know. Yeah my friend.
- 23:23Who's the great teacher? He thinks the mythmakers is
- 23:25marvelous, whereas heart, I spent half Outfit laughing at
- 23:28the jokes but not having a clue. Really, what's going on?
- 23:31There's a couple of blog Latin jokes I think in this that go
- 23:35over my head. But yeah, I think they're fairly
- 23:42narrow just designer so rarely happens, he just looks straight
- 23:45to camera and address the audience when he was like it's
- 23:49up morges and kills around rezoning so morges.
- 23:54Yeah. I like The cards.
- 23:58What's rack Rack in Enlightenment?
- 24:00She talks straight for the cameras.
- 24:01Yeah, Chuckles. Yeah, that's it.
- 24:07Oh, that's the poison of gum. And there is still time for like
- 24:16I do think this is quite fast pace for a harness story but
- 24:19there is still time you know like this is quite a luxury
- 24:23asleep, a scene. Hmm.
- 24:25And what muscle I think it because it's a four-part or as
- 24:27well, you know, that even when the piercing floors down that in
- 24:33it that it needs to to like to speed up to the plot sir.
- 24:37Like, if this was episode, I don't know, four or five of the
- 24:41six. But then you blow all we're
- 24:43going to just be stuck with. Oh yeah driven from the
- 24:45steroids. Yeah at least at least the
- 24:49sensor exchange which is location of the vows of them
- 24:52sensor. Right?
- 24:54This is just like okay he goes but you don't know how to play
- 24:58the lyre. Don't I child?
- 25:00Don't I I'm Hollow talk about cam the way you play this
- 25:09instrument in a minute. Giving this is his best
- 25:14performance. possibly, I think that it's going through the one
- 25:19of my head actually I think the fuck that he gets to show the
- 25:24comedy, I mean, of all the surviving stories, I think it
- 25:28possibly shows the best. I think I would have liked
- 25:33something, like the myth make is where you get the comedy and
- 25:35then also, the dramatic stuff at the end.
- 25:38He doesn't get to be all that dramatic in there.
- 25:40So I mean I think that there's better showcases from but I
- 25:44think that, yeah, it's just consistently on the ball.
- 25:46This isn't me, there's so many individual scenes, the bit in
- 25:49episode 4 where he knows is going to be tossed to the light
- 25:54and then he's going I promised here are roaring success, he's
- 26:01so funny. But yeah, you're right.
- 26:03When you think that I still think one of his best
- 26:04performances is the part, you know, the first episode.
- 26:08Hmm, he's but the current the current is so different.
- 26:11I mean, it's better depends. What you asked, what what aspect
- 26:16of the character? What's the, what's the story of
- 26:20The Emperor's New Clothes? Little bit.
- 26:24That Taylor was commissioned to do the most beautiful pools in
- 26:28the whole the kingdom, but if some reason he I can't afford of
- 26:33decides not to do those claws. But he tells the emperor that
- 26:38The most extravagant, the most extravagant luxury sport is
- 26:43wearing. Look at everybody, pretending.
- 26:48To be fair, though, I've lost in that room.
- 26:49I'll be the same. You know, one thing I've never
- 26:51got with this scene, is the the extras, are they meant to be in
- 26:59on the jewel or are they meant to be some of them are feel like
- 27:05some of the extras are playing it slightly differently than
- 27:07others. And I know this is because I've
- 27:09watched it about 30 times, but when the leave and then all the
- 27:13extras are laughing. Then he doesn't like that
- 27:16they're laughing. It's I'm like, are they laughing
- 27:19at him? They get it out of them, had a
- 27:21pointed out, maybe the director didn't give him a note.
- 27:24It's just like the whole I think that's might be a I can't
- 27:28believe I put in a comedy sneeze as well.
- 27:30I made enough to join this. What's called tavius serious?
- 27:37I think possibly I should know what these characters are caused
- 27:40because I was so much fun it this story, you'd never think
- 27:43that. Yeah, they're part of a nice.
- 27:45Assassination plot, you know, duck in poisons and All Souls.
- 27:50Now, Nero is furious, what? Great way to write in a
- 27:56companion as well. You skip over all of the awkward
- 27:59sort of settling in stuff. Hmm.
- 28:02Because and especially her the camaraderie with the other
- 28:05characters because she's only met the doctor in the the rest I
- 28:11could but she seems right at home because actually six weeks
- 28:13worth of sort of team building has happened.
- 28:16Oh you mean skipping over all of us?
- 28:18yeah, yeah, yeah, quite like that it's a little bit Mel in
- 28:23that We get the initial meeting, actually.
- 28:27No, we don't get the initial meeting at all with one, but
- 28:29like in a way you just straighten that, it's a doctor
- 28:32companion, sort of friendship and you sort of forget at the
- 28:35end. The thing that sort of takes you
- 28:37by surprise sometimes is that she's like oh so where we going
- 28:40next in the Tardis and she's pointing at all.
- 28:42We never know where we're going and that's still a surprise for
- 28:45her because she's just spent the last six weeks in room.
- 28:48Whatever. And that's the best buyers and
- 28:50she's had enough of the team you doing stuff.
- 28:52She's like, come on. You promised me suspect this On
- 28:54an adventure. Hmm, off to Rome we go Not that
- 29:00this is this is the the Ian Chesterton that Sarah to of to
- 29:04watch who loves all disheveled disheveled chest a little bit
- 29:08bewhiskered. Yeah, he's about to, you know.
- 29:11But yes. Absolutely, I feel like
- 29:13Chesterton. I can't fund.
- 29:17I can't fancy him. I think it's a big city and I
- 29:19think it's maybe because he's a teacher.
- 29:21I don't know what it is. I just don't fancy, you know,
- 29:26maybe that's it. But then again like when you get
- 29:28the Stephen with a stubble, yes. Yeah already been Jamie on
- 29:34there. You know nothing.
- 29:39And so this is what we like to call Gladiator on a budget.
- 29:44Yes, well I view it as at least, yes, it's not a great big
- 29:48Stadium but it's a rehearsal room.
- 29:51Isn't it for the Gladiators? Oh, did I say that?
- 29:55I think this is something along the lines of it's like a
- 29:57training school or something. That's what I would say,
- 30:00covering it with a line. Yes, I don't think it's meant to
- 30:03be a great big arena. I think but I think I think they
- 30:08get away with it. Yeah that's brilliant.
- 30:13When they see each other, isn't it?
- 30:14Mmm. And then she knows that they're
- 30:18going to fight. So, there's real suspense here
- 30:21as well. The rock there is like in
- 30:24amongst all the comedy. There are good.
- 30:26Dramatic beans. Don't understand what happened
- 30:29because you're quite familiar. With the mythmakers, ask your
- 30:33question. I was just going to say
- 30:34something similar happens. When Steven gets to Troy to
- 30:38essentially rescue Vicki and she blurts out Stephen, and that's
- 30:44what Like that's what like gets the route.
- 30:49They get to the Trojans to realize that write these two
- 30:51know each other, right? So basically just have a few
- 30:57these people need a bit more Smiles just oh yeah, don't don't
- 31:00blurt out the other companions name when they come to rescue
- 31:02you I think I don't think Barbara does it in the Crusade.
- 31:06I think she's a little Lesson by then, but that is a wonderful
- 31:09thing about 60s Doctor Who is remember that character in case
- 31:13of mariners, who goes, but you can't possibly know what I do
- 31:17again, Spirits are you know, I didn't tell anyone it's like,
- 31:24pick a ball with From the Monk and saying, but he doesn't even
- 31:28know what the doctor looks like. Yours is wearing a check
- 31:31trousers. And as long lighter, oh no, the
- 31:34funniest one, it wasn't even the ark.
- 31:35Is that mono? It.
- 31:37That's being caught. Are you, are you working against
- 31:40ours? No, I just adore.
- 31:49I mean, you just skipped a lot of like Like deterring that is
- 31:53just straight to the sort of character letting him slip their
- 31:57motor version of their actions is quite.
- 32:03Yeah, I was watching the crown earlier this week.
- 32:04It's not quite how we do things now you know it's a bit more
- 32:06nuanced. And yeah yeah.
- 32:08Might if you might be sorted to get to the tell you honestly
- 32:12that cast the casting of the crown, I can't keep up with it.
- 32:16Queen is gone for a lot of different actresses.
- 32:18Mmm, that's regeneration. Well, look, episodes, 3 done,
- 32:26all the rapey stuff done, yes, anybody?
- 32:30Anybody else can tune back into this.
- 32:32If the skipped episode of through the podcast you can tune
- 32:34in to episode 4 which is a game called In fanart and finally a
- 32:40star. And I won't tell you do like the
- 32:42Romans episode 4. When does that start?
- 32:46Whether they stopped giving him individual top, it was the
- 32:49Savages was, no, I'll see you impressed me yet.
- 32:52I don't know as you hang on a minute, I was about to say you
- 32:54impressed me because, you know, I'm all right, I'm all right.
- 32:57You are absolutely right. How much knowledge you've
- 33:01gathered about classic house and she started watching new who but
- 33:05actually knew who's been going now for how long Seventeen years
- 33:10and you're how old 30? Yeah.
- 33:15Yeah. Well, over half your life.
- 33:17It's all right. Yeah.
- 33:19Yeah. That's right.
- 33:21I was wondering, would you pondering your own age then?
- 33:23Because I was more like, the maths of when dog, who started?
- 33:28I was like, yeah, would have been 12 or 13.
- 33:31So you've been mashed all this knowledge over the last 17
- 33:33years. Hmm, I wouldn't call it a waste
- 33:35of a life. I'm glad
