- 0:02Speaker 1: Hey, what up, boxing fans. This is the Rope a
- 0:05Speaker 1: Dupe Radio podcast. I am your host, Chris Carlson. We
- 0:08Speaker 1: are live on a Wednesday afternoon. I hope everybody's doing okay.
- 0:12Speaker 1: I got a lot of good responses and just messages
- 0:18Speaker 1: kind of debating the last podcast. I kind of let it,
- 0:22Speaker 1: let it have its legs, so to speak. Gotten to
- 0:28Speaker 1: some arguments or debates or or just you know, good
- 0:31Speaker 1: back and forth with some folks about you know, the
- 0:34Speaker 1: last episode and and just a variety of topics. It's
- 0:38Speaker 1: it's been kind of topical lately. Didn't do a show
- 0:41Speaker 1: last week for a couple of reasons. But I'm back okay,
- 0:47Speaker 1: and we have some more information. We have some more
- 0:49Speaker 1: follow up when it comes to this new zoofa boxing
- 0:53Speaker 1: deal with Paramount Plus Brian Campbell, CBS Sports. We'll talk
- 1:01Speaker 1: a little bit about that interview, some of the things
- 1:05Speaker 1: that came out. I did notice there was some misreporting
- 1:09Speaker 1: on the interview by people that it doesn't surprise me
- 1:14Speaker 1: that they would kind of run with things. So we'll
- 1:18Speaker 1: clarify some of that. Ultimately, we won't know until we
- 1:23Speaker 1: see the fights, right it, did you know, discuss a
- 1:29Speaker 1: variety of things, whether it comes to the new Ali
- 1:32Speaker 1: Actor Ali Act two point zero. So yeah, we'll talk
- 1:37Speaker 1: a little bit about that. There was supposed to be
- 1:40Speaker 1: a big announcement coming between Matchroom and Turkey. Well there
- 1:45Speaker 1: was an announcement. Well as far as it comes to boxing,
- 1:48Speaker 1: I don't know if it's that big of a announcement,
- 1:51Speaker 1: but there was a partnership between those two. Turkey also
- 1:56Speaker 1: partnered with another UK motor, this one I believe it
- 2:02Speaker 1: to be, you know, more boxing related. A couple of
- 2:07Speaker 1: fights got finalized. Variety of things we'll talk about. We
- 2:12Speaker 1: will talk in the ring. Boots Ennis is back. There
- 2:17Speaker 1: are some other fights, interesting big man fight, well actually
- 2:26Speaker 1: two of them I think that are pretty competitive on paper.
- 2:32Speaker 1: So yeah, we'll preview and predict some of that kind
- 2:35Speaker 1: of break down some of that. We'll start with a
- 2:38Speaker 1: little bit of you know, recap, but not too much
- 2:42Speaker 1: being that it's it's the middle of the week, and
- 2:45Speaker 1: you know, the way boxing is closed, it's either been
- 2:49Speaker 1: like a really big fight weekend or just real mediocre
- 2:54Speaker 1: and mediocre at times. Is being nice right now. I'm
- 2:58Speaker 1: not gonna talk necesscessarily breakdown fights where somebody turned two
- 3:02Speaker 1: and oh or five and oh or you know that
- 3:05Speaker 1: type of thing. That's not to say there wasn't, you know,
- 3:10Speaker 1: some action, because there was, you know. So we'll lightly
- 3:13Speaker 1: kind of talk about it in a quick recap segment
- 3:16Speaker 1: and then, like I said, well we'll look ahead boots
- 3:20Speaker 1: head into fifty four. His opponent. His opponent's actually kind
- 3:26Speaker 1: of solid, you know what I mean, He's not as
- 3:28Speaker 1: bad as people think, but it's definitely a letdown. If
- 3:32Speaker 1: you look at his last few fights, Stanonius stands out
- 3:35Speaker 1: and he did, you know, the business, and that's for sure.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Looked very impressive in that fight. But you know, his
- 3:44Speaker 1: run with Mattroom has just been well, back to that word,
- 3:48Speaker 1: mediocre at best. Give him credit for the last fight,
- 3:52Speaker 1: but yeah, we would have liked to see him take
- 3:55Speaker 1: on a guy, a better fighter at fifty four. He
- 4:00Speaker 1: is testing the waters. There was some reluctance to go
- 4:03Speaker 1: to fifty four and stay at forty seven. Now he
- 4:06Speaker 1: feels like his body can't stay at forty seven anymore.
- 4:12Speaker 1: So I'm assuming he'll win this fight. I'll break it
- 4:15Speaker 1: down a little bit, talk about his opponent a tad anyway,
- 4:20Speaker 1: But then the big thing is what's next, you know,
- 4:23Speaker 1: because he definitely needs to kind of rignite things, you know.
- 4:28Speaker 1: The Stanionius performance was phenomenal. The fight with Karen technically
- 4:34Speaker 1: was better than the first fight. Right. I guess you
- 4:38Speaker 1: could say he did show some flaws. Every fighter has him,
- 4:43Speaker 1: but yeah, it just been it's just been a string
- 4:46Speaker 1: of fights where only one of them really caught our
- 4:49Speaker 1: attention heading into it. Now, what happens in the ring,
- 4:52Speaker 1: you never know, right, and this could be a fun fight,
- 4:55Speaker 1: entertainment fight, and then he wins by a knockouts. So
- 5:00Speaker 1: so a variety of things like I said to talk about.
- 5:04Speaker 1: If this is your first time listening to the rope
- 5:05Speaker 1: Adope Radio podcast, welcome. You can find rope Adope Radio
- 5:10Speaker 1: podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeartRadio, Google Podcast, Amazon Music,
- 5:19Speaker 1: the Grueling Truth Sports Network. While you're at it, headed
- 5:23Speaker 1: over to the Grooeling Truth any side boxing and film boxing.
- 5:28Speaker 1: One more thing from direct TV stream They have some
- 5:31Speaker 1: new deals. Okay, stream with the device and get up
- 5:35Speaker 1: to five hundred and five dollars in value over two
- 5:38Speaker 1: years with a qualifying package. You could start streaming for
- 5:42Speaker 1: forty nine nine nine for the first month. That deal
- 5:46Speaker 1: is still there. The Gendre packs are back. You know,
- 5:51Speaker 1: you can basically match the content you love. Some option
- 5:56Speaker 1: includes popular streaming services like ESPN Unlimited, Disney Plus, Hulubundo,
- 6:01Speaker 1: HBO Max Basic with ads in a variety of other things,
- 6:05Speaker 1: so you should definitely look into it. You can lock
- 6:08Speaker 1: in after the first month. It can go month to month,
- 6:11Speaker 1: but you can lock in to two years twenty four
- 6:16Speaker 1: months if you'd like that entertainment package that I mentioned
- 6:19Speaker 1: forty nine ninety nine that includes ESPNFS one in Disney
- 6:23Speaker 1: Hulu for the first month. Choice Package fifty nine ninety
- 6:29Speaker 1: nine that includes the same thing, except you have the
- 6:31Speaker 1: Big ten network, NBATV ACC network over one hundred and
- 6:36Speaker 1: twenty five channels, and the Ultimate includes all that for
- 6:40Speaker 1: eighty four ninety nine and you have one hundred and
- 6:42Speaker 1: sixty channels. That's for the first month at eighty four
- 6:46Speaker 1: ninety nine. All right, so direct TV stream check it out,
- 6:52Speaker 1: take a gander. So anyway, like I said, I mean considering,
- 7:00Speaker 1: you know, we got this big news that uh oh sorry,
- 7:06Speaker 1: I just got this kind of crazy text, all right,
- 7:10Speaker 1: the hell. You know, when he just gets something that
- 7:13Speaker 1: just confuses you anyway, you know, it has been a
- 7:16Speaker 1: little a little light obviously, but you know we did
- 7:22Speaker 1: have Brandon Glatton knocking out Marcus Brown. It was one
- 7:29Speaker 1: of those stoppages from the corner. After the sixth round.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Takahashi I think that was a fourth round knockout of Kawaguchi.
- 7:47Speaker 1: You know that the jab right hand was really doing
- 7:52Speaker 1: the trick and he just dominated. You know, there's not
- 7:59Speaker 1: much to take from that. You know, it was uh
- 8:04Speaker 1: Calagucci was just taking huge shots, you know, and it
- 8:11Speaker 1: was fairly one sided. Obviously. There was another fight Shakichi
- 8:24Speaker 1: I think it is he was taken on Hernandez. It
- 8:30Speaker 1: was another knockout. I think the seventh or eighth round.
- 8:36Speaker 1: We had Angel Fierro got disc all by out of
- 8:41Speaker 1: a fight with Cordero for kicking his opponent. I mean
- 8:51Speaker 1: that was ridiculous. Uh jab alof one two. You know,
- 9:00Speaker 1: get back to me when you fight somebody. And then
- 9:04Speaker 1: you know, like uh Celicia brook House, brook House, she
- 9:13Speaker 1: you know, she did her thing. She went out with
- 9:16Speaker 1: the the Swan Song, right, she unified some some some
- 9:22Speaker 1: titles and you know, she did her thing. There was
- 9:29Speaker 1: there was some other stuff. Zoran oliver zran one, you know,
- 9:35Speaker 1: nothing too crazy, but some good performances, some some action, right,
- 9:40Speaker 1: definitely some action, but you know, nothing over the top
- 9:46Speaker 1: to write home about, per se. So you know, we
- 9:51Speaker 1: won't go too deep in there. Some good performances, not
- 9:56Speaker 1: taking any anything away from them. H But we do have,
- 10:01Speaker 1: like I said, some fight news that we'll get to
- 10:03Speaker 1: a fair amount of it just to kind of catch up,
- 10:07Speaker 1: talk a little bit about like I mentioned Zoofa and
- 10:09Speaker 1: all that, and now that we have more details and
- 10:12Speaker 1: some of the stuff he talked about with Brian Campbell
- 10:15Speaker 1: and and kind of get my take on it and
- 10:19Speaker 1: some other stuff. But but before we get their boots
- 10:23Speaker 1: at his returns and you know, he's a really great
- 10:29Speaker 1: fighter man. And his last fight, which was I think
- 10:33Speaker 1: like April if I remember correctly, this is gonna be
- 10:40Speaker 1: on his own obviously. You know, he he put on
- 10:45Speaker 1: a great performance in his last fight, and like I said,
- 10:49Speaker 1: even that Karen fight, although it wasn't like like close
- 10:57Speaker 1: on the scorecard, per se, it was better than the
- 11:00Speaker 1: first fight. And then you have Aveniesian, So yeah, I
- 11:06Speaker 1: mean his I don't know, like it is what it is.
- 11:11Speaker 1: You know that this guy, it's not that he's a
- 11:15Speaker 1: he's a bad fighter, Lima. You know, he's not a
- 11:19Speaker 1: bad fighter by any stretcher. I do think people are
- 11:24Speaker 1: kind of going over the top. His only loss is
- 11:28Speaker 1: to Eric McKennon. He had some success in that fight,
- 11:33Speaker 1: but not a whole lot. You know. McKennon I believe
- 11:37Speaker 1: is still Yeah, he's still undefeated because he just he fought.
- 11:46Speaker 1: Didn't he fight like Liam Smith or something like that
- 11:49Speaker 1: in his last outing something like that. So you know,
- 11:54Speaker 1: I'm not going to sit there and say it's a
- 11:56Speaker 1: it's a whole lot to write home about, right, But
- 11:59Speaker 1: he is a southpaw. He's got a nice left hand.
- 12:05Speaker 1: He's kind of stiff when he punches, you know, he
- 12:08Speaker 1: does punching combination. Kind of stiff though, tends to stand
- 12:13Speaker 1: right in front of his opponent, tends to reach with
- 12:16Speaker 1: his punches. I think that'll get him in trouble. I
- 12:19Speaker 1: think he's pretty good at punching during an exchange, but
- 12:23Speaker 1: if he tries that with NS one too many times,
- 12:27Speaker 1: that'll be his downfall. And that's kind of where I
- 12:30Speaker 1: see the fight. I see that, sure there might be
- 12:33Speaker 1: some good action to it. Ennis tends to open up
- 12:37Speaker 1: and you know, like his last fight, he was very
- 12:42Speaker 1: discipline when it came to that facing a different fighter.
- 12:45Speaker 1: But I just think that you know, Lima opening up,
- 12:51Speaker 1: likes to punches during exchanges, reaches with his punches. I
- 12:56Speaker 1: think that just lines up for a counter punch or
- 12:58Speaker 1: just a straight punch, a shorter bunch. And I do
- 13:02Speaker 1: think he'll win by knockout, but I don't know, we'll see.
- 13:05Speaker 1: I mean, I'm assuming it'll be like a TKO. I
- 13:11Speaker 1: do like Boots here, you know, to win the fight,
- 13:15Speaker 1: but it could be entertaining, you know, on the way there,
- 13:21Speaker 1: Let's say, and this is that I think it's the
- 13:25Speaker 1: Wells Fargo Center in Philly, so it's nice to be
- 13:29Speaker 1: fighting Philly. But at the same time, you know, you'd like,
- 13:34Speaker 1: there's a lot of good fighters at fifty four. And
- 13:37Speaker 1: I'm not gonna sit there and say that this is
- 13:41Speaker 1: this is a great opponent. There's a lot better opponents
- 13:45Speaker 1: where you could still get your feet wet at the
- 13:48Speaker 1: weight class. And you know, he's, like I mentioned, he
- 13:51Speaker 1: has been reluctant to go to fifty four, but now
- 13:55Speaker 1: it's basically like he says that he just can't make
- 13:58Speaker 1: the weight anymore at forty. So it wasn't a huge
- 14:03Speaker 1: deal to be undisputed there. One of the fights is
- 14:09Speaker 1: really good. The other fight really wouldn't have mattered. Yeah,
- 14:12Speaker 1: we they would have. You know, people would have made
- 14:14Speaker 1: a big deal about it if he if he got
- 14:17Speaker 1: the other the third belt and then you know, fight burials.
- 14:20Speaker 1: They they would have made a big deal about it.
- 14:22Speaker 1: But it really wouldn't have been that big of a
- 14:25Speaker 1: deal as far as because we know undisputed fights are
- 14:27Speaker 1: not all the same. So I am glad that he
- 14:32Speaker 1: moved up to fifty four. There's a host of you know,
- 14:37Speaker 1: quality opponents bore him there and he can really do
- 14:40Speaker 1: some damage. So you know, I assume he's going to
- 14:45Speaker 1: get through this without too much of a hitch. And
- 14:50Speaker 1: I just think the straighter, more accurate, better fighter here.
- 14:54Speaker 1: You know. I also saw that Khalil Cole so he's
- 15:03Speaker 1: suspended by the New Jersey Athletic Board indefinitely. I was
- 15:08Speaker 1: It's funny, I guess I just was unaware of this. Now.
- 15:13Speaker 1: Is that just on you know, is that just on
- 15:16Speaker 1: the like on the website, how you get suspended and
- 15:22Speaker 1: then you're off of it? Or is that is this
- 15:25Speaker 1: this fighte is not happening now? Is that is that
- 15:28Speaker 1: what's going on here? Because obviously it's it's in a
- 15:33Speaker 1: different state, but you know how sometimes they can wiggle
- 15:37Speaker 1: around it. I don't know. I was unaware he was
- 15:40Speaker 1: gonna take on Jesse Hart. I was unaware of that
- 15:43Speaker 1: for some reason. That kind of slipped by. So is
- 15:49Speaker 1: that is that a true thing? Like I said, I
- 15:51Speaker 1: did not realize that. I thought this was a pretty
- 15:55Speaker 1: good test for him. Jesse Heart is nowhere near you know,
- 15:59Speaker 1: his prime, that's for sure. But I thought it was
- 16:04Speaker 1: gonna be a good test. But yeah, basically, you know,
- 16:12Speaker 1: I guess, I guess he pulled out of the fight,
- 16:14Speaker 1: and I guess it was a you know, I guess
- 16:17Speaker 1: it was an injury something like that. I was thinking
- 16:20Speaker 1: that's why he, you know, wasn't fighting and or gotta
- 16:25Speaker 1: put on suspension, maybe because they have injury. But I
- 16:27Speaker 1: thought he was gonna be okay. But yeah, I just
- 16:30Speaker 1: found out that he was injured. I'm looking at boxing,
- 16:33Speaker 1: you know wreck right now it's saying those things. So yeah,
- 16:37Speaker 1: I was kinda I kind of wanted to see him
- 16:40Speaker 1: in that fight. I thought it was a decent test
- 16:42Speaker 1: for him on that card, though you do have Guido
- 16:48Speaker 1: ven Bianello, solid solid guy right against Alexi. Alexis uh barrier.
- 16:57Speaker 1: I think it is. I think that's how you say that,
- 17:03Speaker 1: this barrier. You know, he uses his jab a lot,
- 17:08Speaker 1: whether it's the clear space, whether it's to lanta punch,
- 17:12Speaker 1: whether it's to lant a punch and then follow up.
- 17:14Speaker 1: He is a I believe he's a south paw, follows
- 17:17Speaker 1: up at the left hand. But he also kind of
- 17:19Speaker 1: uh faints with He kind of pokes and prods with it.
- 17:25Speaker 1: Likes to punch down on people. I've noticed that in
- 17:29Speaker 1: his highlights. Obviously, you know, you gotta gotta be taller
- 17:31Speaker 1: than the guy to punch down. But Guido, you know Guido,
- 17:36Speaker 1: Guido's not a small guy, right, He's like six six
- 17:39Speaker 1: or something like that. I should actually check it. It's it's
- 17:42Speaker 1: in that realm, so he won't be punching down here.
- 17:45Speaker 1: But this is a good fight. You know, Guido's definitely tested,
- 17:55Speaker 1: you know at this division. Torres was his last fight
- 17:58Speaker 1: earlier this year in the spring. Didn't really put up
- 18:04Speaker 1: too much of a fight. That was coming off a
- 18:08Speaker 1: nice win, and he did have a split decision. A
- 18:11Speaker 1: lost to a jaga of course, to Jonathan Rice and
- 18:16Speaker 1: you know, so he's fought some solid fighters, right. I
- 18:21Speaker 1: liked what I saw out of Torres in that fight.
- 18:24Speaker 1: I didn't think he would be able to beat him
- 18:29Speaker 1: as cleanly as that, So I thought that was very
- 18:34Speaker 1: impressive by Torres. But you know, for this Barrier, this
- 18:41Speaker 1: is a good test. I think. I think though he
- 18:46Speaker 1: does this little step back to where he's jabbing, and
- 18:49Speaker 1: he does like a slight step back out of range,
- 18:53Speaker 1: and but he'll get right back into it. I just
- 18:55Speaker 1: I like the way he uses his jab for a
- 18:58Speaker 1: variety of reasons, most of them good. And I just
- 19:03Speaker 1: think that he'll he'll just he'll be able to land
- 19:08Speaker 1: his clean punches. Looks like a pretty good puncher. I
- 19:14Speaker 1: think he's only been the eight round distance. I should
- 19:18Speaker 1: double check that. I know his last fight was into
- 19:22Speaker 1: the six yeah, eight rounder he went. So you know,
- 19:30Speaker 1: I think this is a you know, it's a ten
- 19:33Speaker 1: rounder here. So I think Guido will have we'll have,
- 19:36Speaker 1: you know, we'll have some success, you know, And I
- 19:39Speaker 1: think this Barrier is gonna have to earn it, no
- 19:43Speaker 1: doubt about that. You know, he's gonna have to earn it.
- 19:45Speaker 1: So I really like this fight from a heavyweight perspective.
- 19:55Speaker 1: So yeah, but I do think Barrier will come through.
- 19:58Speaker 1: But you know, he actually let me see where the
- 20:01Speaker 1: odds are now, yeah, I mean Guido is. You can
- 20:05Speaker 1: get Guido for plus one thirty plus one twenty plus
- 20:09Speaker 1: one fifteen plus one oh six, So I mean it's
- 20:15Speaker 1: it's close. That MGM I think is the highest a
- 20:18Speaker 1: plus one thirty, So you know, I think Guido will
- 20:25Speaker 1: have plenty of success. I just think overall, scoring with
- 20:29Speaker 1: the jab and then following it up. He's got a
- 20:31Speaker 1: good left hook two, so yeah, I think you could
- 20:38Speaker 1: punch with both hands. I do think Barrier will win,
- 20:43Speaker 1: but I think it's gonna be a competitive fight. I
- 20:45Speaker 1: wouldn't doubt if it goes the distance. You know, I
- 20:48Speaker 1: think it will go the distance. So we're gonna see
- 20:52Speaker 1: his wind will be tested as well, because this will
- 20:55Speaker 1: be his best fighter that he's faced. I'm gonna go
- 20:59Speaker 1: with the barrio, just with the cleaner punches. But I
- 21:03Speaker 1: gotta admit kinda during the next few days that plus
- 21:09Speaker 1: number might you know, maybe plus number and then yes
- 21:16Speaker 1: to the decision. I don't know. I haven't bet on
- 21:19Speaker 1: it yet full disclosure, but it is something that kinda
- 21:26Speaker 1: kind of eyeball in a little bit. So I like
- 21:30Speaker 1: that fight a lot. You know, there are some other
- 21:32Speaker 1: fights on the card as well, but those are the
- 21:39Speaker 1: two that I'm really really interested in. You do have
- 21:43Speaker 1: some prospects stuff too on the on the card, So
- 21:52Speaker 1: where should we go? Like, uh to Mere Smalls is
- 22:01Speaker 1: on there. Kind of interested a little bit there. There's
- 22:08Speaker 1: also h Shannon Ryan and Chloe Watson is this weekend.
- 22:12Speaker 1: That's very close to a Pickham type fight. I think
- 22:19Speaker 1: that's Conway and Ldard. I believe that. I believe that's
- 22:25Speaker 1: the the headline for that. Jimmy Sands and Troy Coleman.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Seen Sands fight a few times, but yeah, the Conway
- 22:35Speaker 1: and Laddard that's on his own as well. The Shannon
- 22:39Speaker 1: Shannon Ryan and Chloe Watson, those are you know, those
- 22:42Speaker 1: are competitive fights on paper, so that's something to keep
- 22:49Speaker 1: an eye on. I mean Conway and Ledard, I mean
- 22:52Speaker 1: you have a plus one ten. That's that's the highest
- 22:55Speaker 1: I see. Otherwise FanDuel has like minus numbers for both
- 23:00Speaker 1: of them. So I like Shannon Ryan and uh. I
- 23:07Speaker 1: think Conway is gonna win. But I think just off
- 23:10Speaker 1: of is that a big fight or whatever. No it's not,
- 23:14Speaker 1: but you know, I do think that it you know,
- 23:19Speaker 1: just from a viewer standpoint, it will be interesting. You
- 23:24Speaker 1: do have Josh Padley and Reese Beltada what was it
- 23:29Speaker 1: Betati Beltadi. That's Padley. Obviously he is the favorite by
- 23:38Speaker 1: a decent amount. Reese is I see up as high
- 23:41Speaker 1: as plus two eighty five seventy five. I think Padley
- 23:45Speaker 1: will win. But you know, obviously Padley is not coming
- 23:51Speaker 1: in on short notice like he did not all that
- 23:54Speaker 1: long ago for you know, Sugwart Stevenson. Before that, I
- 24:00Speaker 1: think it was Mark Chamberlain who was undefeated at that time.
- 24:04Speaker 1: He does have a win sense. Then he actually got
- 24:07Speaker 1: back in the ring not long after that lost just
- 24:09Speaker 1: the core. But Lotti, you know, it's just a vet,
- 24:15Speaker 1: just a vet with some pop. But I just think
- 24:20Speaker 1: overall Padley doesn't have I think he's got like five
- 24:26Speaker 1: or four something like that knockouts. So it's not you know,
- 24:32Speaker 1: it's he's not. I just see he's you know, skill him,
- 24:35Speaker 1: I guess you could say. But there is a heavyweight
- 24:39Speaker 1: fight David Allen and Macmudoff, and I'm interested in this
- 24:45Speaker 1: fight just off you know, the action that will take place,
- 24:50Speaker 1: speaking of Guido. Guido did knock out him. Even quicker
- 24:57Speaker 1: was Cabiel a few years back. I think that was
- 25:01Speaker 1: like twenty three let me check, actually, yeah, late late
- 25:08Speaker 1: twenty yeah, late two thousand and so you know Alan's
- 25:15Speaker 1: speaking of Vet. This dude's you know, been around the
- 25:20Speaker 1: block a lot, right. He lost the really close decision.
- 25:26Speaker 1: I think it was a split decision and majority one
- 25:28Speaker 1: of the two to Johnny. Fisher then came right back
- 25:32Speaker 1: and beat him, knocked him out like midway through. I
- 25:36Speaker 1: want to say it was like the fifth or sixth round.
- 25:39Speaker 1: I can just go on box right here, and I'm
- 25:42Speaker 1: not sure when I need to keep saying. I think, yeah,
- 25:45Speaker 1: it was the fifth round. So I thought Alan won
- 25:50Speaker 1: that first fight. Fisher did hit the hit the deck.
- 25:54Speaker 1: I did think Allen won that fight, so kind of
- 25:57Speaker 1: rejuvenated his career a little bit. But to what extent,
- 26:04Speaker 1: I don't know. But could he could he knock out
- 26:08Speaker 1: you know mac mood of Yeah. I mean he's only
- 26:11Speaker 1: lost twice, but both times it was thea knockout, So
- 26:16Speaker 1: I think Alan has got a great chance of stopping him.
- 26:20Speaker 1: But I just think, like style wise and everything, I
- 26:25Speaker 1: like the fight, I think just similar different you know,
- 26:30Speaker 1: the barrier that's a different He's actually has like a
- 26:35Speaker 1: potential future, you know, whereas this is just this could
- 26:39Speaker 1: be just a banger, you know. And Alan is a
- 26:43Speaker 1: slight pretty much a slight dog. I see plus one
- 26:47Speaker 1: hundred plus one O four fan duel, So I like Alan,
- 26:53Speaker 1: I'm gonna try to get the highest number I can
- 26:55Speaker 1: for David Allen on that one. But you know, like
- 26:59Speaker 1: I said, these fights, I'm not going to oversell them,
- 27:03Speaker 1: you know. But you know, sometimes these weekends and it
- 27:10Speaker 1: has been light, I've gotten a lot of messages over
- 27:14Speaker 1: the last this year in general, but especially sometime in
- 27:18Speaker 1: the summer where people are just not feeling good about
- 27:23Speaker 1: where the sport is. And I don't blame them, you know,
- 27:26Speaker 1: obviously I don't blame them. We definitely for all the
- 27:33Speaker 1: you know, Saudi saving boxing, Turkey saving boxing. You know,
- 27:37Speaker 1: if you look at some of the main hubs, United
- 27:40Speaker 1: States shouts out to Japan obviously, Maiko, but the UK,
- 27:46Speaker 1: if you look at the US and UK, you know,
- 27:50Speaker 1: they're Someone sent me a message the other day of
- 27:54Speaker 1: a screenshot or maybe it was the video of a
- 27:57Speaker 1: fighter saying, you know those are good fights, man, But
- 27:59Speaker 1: those so that's like four or five main events that
- 28:01Speaker 1: could have happened in the UK, and so maybe half
- 28:04Speaker 1: of them could have been in Saudi and the other
- 28:07Speaker 1: half could have been in the UK. And you know,
- 28:09Speaker 1: we've given Turkey credit for when he has put the
- 28:13Speaker 1: fights in the right spot. And there are some fights
- 28:17Speaker 1: that don't necessarily gander a lot of attention as far
- 28:21Speaker 1: as a gate. So those are like the perfect fights,
- 28:25Speaker 1: you know, to bring over there. But I'm sure they're thinking, well,
- 28:30Speaker 1: we it can't be just that, you know, and if
- 28:32Speaker 1: you're gonna make this big investment, then you gotta you
- 28:35Speaker 1: gotta do what you gotta do. You know, you're gonna
- 28:37Speaker 1: have some fights over there. I've never I've never thought,
- 28:41Speaker 1: you know, that it was just gonna be that, you know,
- 28:44Speaker 1: where it was. It wasn't going to be over there.
- 28:47Speaker 1: Of course it was going to be over there, you know.
- 28:50Speaker 1: So yeah, it is what it is. You know, we're
- 28:56Speaker 1: we're in a we're in a weird spot right now.
- 29:00Speaker 1: I'll get through some news and then I will get,
- 29:04Speaker 1: you know, to the zoof of boxing platform deal with
- 29:08Speaker 1: its twelve shows, just to kind of tease that as
- 29:12Speaker 1: we know, a select few. Now, would those select few
- 29:17Speaker 1: mean built up over kind of like the finale for
- 29:24Speaker 1: the Contender series, you know, back on the in the UFC, Like,
- 29:30Speaker 1: does he mean select few on CBS like simulcasts with
- 29:34Speaker 1: paramount and CBS a select flute few like that would
- 29:39Speaker 1: be would it would it be pay per view level?
- 29:41Speaker 1: Would it be a series of fights? And then these
- 29:45Speaker 1: are the two fighters or multiple fighters in different way
- 29:48Speaker 1: classes that came out of it, and then this will
- 29:50Speaker 1: be on CBS. These are just I'm assuming that's what
- 29:54Speaker 1: that would be. But these are some of the questions
- 29:58Speaker 1: that I do have. So we we have details, we'll
- 30:00Speaker 1: get into that. We did see some finalized fights. We
- 30:07Speaker 1: saw some We saw Frank Sanchez trying to get a fight,
- 30:14Speaker 1: you know, for the IBF final eliminator Richard Trore. Speaking
- 30:20Speaker 1: of Richi Torres, I just mentioned him. You know, he
- 30:22Speaker 1: had a shot at that. A couple other fighters did too,
- 30:29Speaker 1: and they decided to not do it, and you know,
- 30:35Speaker 1: it is what it is for for a variety of
- 30:37Speaker 1: reasons why it didn't happen. But you know, Jesus, sometimes
- 30:51Speaker 1: you get these messages and you're like, dude, that's gotta
- 30:53Speaker 1: be a like one. The first one wasn't some sort
- 30:56Speaker 1: of scam. It was like a kind of a troubling text.
- 30:59Speaker 1: But this one that I just got, it has to
- 31:05Speaker 1: be a scam anyway. Moses a Tama he told he
- 31:12Speaker 1: he he rejected the Frank Sanchez fight A couple of
- 31:17Speaker 1: fighters did for a variety of reasons, like I mentioned,
- 31:23Speaker 1: So you know, it is what it is. Some people say, oh,
- 31:27Speaker 1: they're ducking or whatever, but but it does sound like
- 31:31Speaker 1: I saw this on Brunchbox and you know, other other
- 31:33Speaker 1: spots that Daniel Dubois has reportedly accepted that elimination for
- 31:39Speaker 1: Fan Sanchez. So if you're gonna have somebody fight Sanchez's style,
- 31:46Speaker 1: you know, like it's probably you know a person that well,
- 31:51Speaker 1: I assume he'll be more aggressive and take the fight
- 31:55Speaker 1: to him, and that will kind of bring out some
- 31:59Speaker 1: of the positives that Sanchez has two rather than someone
- 32:03Speaker 1: just following somebody. But yeah, I think fa did Torres Moses,
- 32:11Speaker 1: but yeah, it seems like there was actually I think
- 32:17Speaker 1: it was Rafiel obtained a IBF letter saying that du
- 32:20Speaker 1: bois so at least you gotta fight. At least we
- 32:23Speaker 1: didn't get a rematch fight either, you know, so so yeah,
- 32:30Speaker 1: I think that kind of solves that, so to speak.
- 32:37Speaker 1: Is that just a monster fight? No, but hey, it's
- 32:41Speaker 1: something we have learned since the last time I did
- 32:44Speaker 1: the show that Canelo will be undergoing elbow surgery, so
- 32:49Speaker 1: his delay, you know, instead of coming back mid to
- 32:53Speaker 1: late twenty twenty six, so he is delayed. He was
- 32:56Speaker 1: gonna fight, I believe it was in February, and now
- 32:59Speaker 1: I bring that up because there's a possibility side this
- 33:03Speaker 1: on Ring Magazine that obviously they'd have to come to
- 33:07Speaker 1: their fights. But Benevite is in Hany potentially in a
- 33:14Speaker 1: double header in Saudi Arabia for that Canelo date because
- 33:22Speaker 1: obviously he's not gonna be able to make it. So
- 33:28Speaker 1: you know, there's that. It sounds like Raphael Espinoza is
- 33:36Speaker 1: coming back in Mexico November fifteenth, according to Coppinger, Arnold
- 33:43Speaker 1: Gagaya is the opponent. Also, Sabril Mattias is gonna take
- 33:49Speaker 1: on Dalton Smith. That'll be in New York January tenth.
- 33:54Speaker 1: Sounds like Mattia's promoter, Fresh Productions, won a Purst bid
- 33:58Speaker 1: last month, you know, and so they they now have
- 34:01Speaker 1: it finalized. I think it was like a one point
- 34:03Speaker 1: nine or something like that. So there's another one basically
- 34:13Speaker 1: a mandatory for the IBF. Andrew Maloney, he is the mando.
- 34:21Speaker 1: He's the mando. I guess there was like a the
- 34:25Speaker 1: Saint Body accepted his appeal against Cortes uh be. It
- 34:32Speaker 1: was like a breach of contract thing for a final eliminator.
- 34:38Speaker 1: So you have basically now Maloney, you know, by like
- 34:45Speaker 1: June something, it was later June. If I remember Lebaldo
- 34:51Speaker 1: Garcia against conci Canciro uh Taji, that's the twenty seventh December.
- 35:00Speaker 1: That's later this year, so the winner of that would
- 35:03Speaker 1: have to face him by it's like late June or
- 35:06Speaker 1: something like that. So we do have some movements at middleweight,
- 35:14Speaker 1: if you can believe it. No, it's not the fight
- 35:17Speaker 1: that excuse me, I had to take a little drink
- 35:21Speaker 1: of water. No, it's not the fight that you know
- 35:23Speaker 1: with the Carlos Ottomus. And maybe that will be next
- 35:26Speaker 1: for Undisputed. Maybe that's what they were talking about, how
- 35:30Speaker 1: they're in talks, but it may be later or whatever.
- 35:35Speaker 1: But Arislandi, Laura, so Jeana Beck and Lara are going
- 35:40Speaker 1: to meet. So you know, you got three belts on
- 35:47Speaker 1: the line and it sounds like it's going to be on.
- 35:53Speaker 1: I believe it's going to be on the Pitbull Cruise
- 35:55Speaker 1: Lamont Junior and that got that was official too, That
- 36:02Speaker 1: got announce too for December sixth. I believe it was.
- 36:08Speaker 1: And like I said, nothing's changed as far as my
- 36:13Speaker 1: feelings on it. I think it's a good decide. You know,
- 36:18Speaker 1: it's a risk for Diaz, but where he's at, you know,
- 36:24Speaker 1: or Cruz Dias for for Pitbull Cruise that you know,
- 36:29Speaker 1: it is a risk. It's a tough fight for him,
- 36:31Speaker 1: but I think that he's kind of in a spot now,
- 36:34Speaker 1: you know where he's got to kind of he's got
- 36:37Speaker 1: to get another big win. But for Lamont Roach, it's
- 36:41Speaker 1: a good name for him. You know, it is a
- 36:43Speaker 1: good name for him. I'll give him that, and I
- 36:47Speaker 1: think he'll look good doing it in that fight. But
- 36:53Speaker 1: you know, you'd like this to be on just straight up,
- 36:57Speaker 1: you know, Amazon Prime, you know, for this to be
- 37:02Speaker 1: a pay per view December sixth, when we got you know,
- 37:05Speaker 1: we've gotten a little break from pay per views, but
- 37:08Speaker 1: don't you worry, it's ramping up at the end of
- 37:13Speaker 1: the year. Now. Some of them have a really good card.
- 37:15Speaker 1: Some of them are pay per view quote unquote worthy
- 37:19Speaker 1: or whatever. But yeah, you would have liked for them
- 37:22Speaker 1: to be able to keep this off a pay per
- 37:24Speaker 1: view obviously. But back to the heavyweight fight. You know,
- 37:29Speaker 1: Laura hasn't fought a live body in a while, so
- 37:32Speaker 1: you do kind of wonder where he's at. But he's
- 37:35Speaker 1: also a guy that does, you know, stay in shape,
- 37:39Speaker 1: so you know he's kind of gotten out every once
- 37:45Speaker 1: in a while, knocks somebody out, goes back in. So
- 37:49Speaker 1: my assumption is there, you know, PBC on the PBC
- 37:52Speaker 1: side anyway, they're looking for Laura to beat him and
- 37:56Speaker 1: then set up and undisputed and then vice versa. Hopefully,
- 38:03Speaker 1: if Jaana Beck wins that they can still make that
- 38:06Speaker 1: fight and maybe that would be maybe that fight would
- 38:11Speaker 1: be made on a Saudi card. I'm not really sure
- 38:15Speaker 1: because I believe that's I don't know, I don't know
- 38:18Speaker 1: if that was getting talked about or not as far
- 38:20Speaker 1: as where that fight was going to end up. So yeah,
- 38:24Speaker 1: I like the fight. You know, it's it's a very
- 38:27Speaker 1: interesting style ken Lara. We know he's a very skilled fighter,
- 38:33Speaker 1: but can he hold up for twelve rounds and look
- 38:37Speaker 1: good like legs wise, not that he's gonna get knocked out,
- 38:41Speaker 1: but I'm saying like his legs. You know, he hasn't
- 38:44Speaker 1: had to he hasn't had to do his implore his
- 38:50Speaker 1: style in a while because he's just been knocking dudes
- 38:53Speaker 1: out or just easily winning. So but I do like
- 38:56Speaker 1: the fight. It's something at middleweight and so if you
- 39:00Speaker 1: can get something, man, sign me up. I did see.
- 39:06Speaker 1: I think it was Raphael per sources. Top Right has
- 39:09Speaker 1: come to an agreement to release middleweight veto Melaneki to
- 39:13Speaker 1: ZUFA Boxing. We'll get into that ZUFA stuff here just
- 39:19Speaker 1: in just a short little bit. And Kabyel is going
- 39:24Speaker 1: to face Nelson. Heisa, heisa, it's an unbeaten dude. It's
- 39:32Speaker 1: over in Germany. I think it's just kind of a
- 39:33Speaker 1: stay busy fight. I've seen some highlights of that guy.
- 39:36Speaker 1: I don't think I've seen a full fight. Just to
- 39:39Speaker 1: just to be honest, and by the way, Beyond Boxing
- 39:43Speaker 1: the last episode, someone got really mad at me. Well,
- 39:48Speaker 1: this person asked me if I like Beyond Boxing the podcast,
- 39:52Speaker 1: and I said I did, especially from the UK perspective.
- 39:55Speaker 1: I don't think he has as much of a handle
- 39:59Speaker 1: as he does in the UK, a handle of the
- 40:03Speaker 1: US boxing. Sometimes what he says, you're like, nah, that's
- 40:07Speaker 1: just way off. But I like his perspective. I like
- 40:10Speaker 1: his I just like I just think I think he's
- 40:15Speaker 1: got He's a good, really good host. He's got a
- 40:17Speaker 1: good personality, he's funny. I've liked the podcast he was
- 40:23Speaker 1: on prior, like, I like it. I was just pointing
- 40:27Speaker 1: out how he basically said Crawford had no shot and
- 40:31Speaker 1: then it was just gonna be an easy It's like
- 40:34Speaker 1: a joke fight. And then he didn't do a podcast
- 40:38Speaker 1: on it. But he had sense. And I guess when
- 40:41Speaker 1: I said that, I guess that it had already been released. Well,
- 40:45Speaker 1: I hadn't heard it yet, and it had been quite
- 40:48Speaker 1: a while. You know. He didn't do his normal follow
- 40:51Speaker 1: up right after the fight, was the point. But yeah,
- 40:54Speaker 1: Crawford's Cinnamon and OnlyFans episode two seventy five. So but
- 41:01Speaker 1: when I said it, it was correct. He didn't do
- 41:04Speaker 1: the fall up. He had done shows and not done
- 41:07Speaker 1: one with that, So that kind of made me scratch
- 41:09Speaker 1: my head a little bit. So I think that's fair.
- 41:12Speaker 1: I wasn't calling him out someone that you know, you
- 41:15Speaker 1: asked me a question. I answered it, and that's what
- 41:17Speaker 1: I thought of it. You know, it was kind of
- 41:20Speaker 1: it was kind of weird how it was like, well,
- 41:23Speaker 1: you know what's going on. Oh we did have that
- 41:28Speaker 1: rehid Eddie Hearn Turkey thing where they've come together basically
- 41:37Speaker 1: and we're talking snooker and darts and all that. It
- 41:41Speaker 1: didn't seem like there was like a new level of
- 41:46Speaker 1: commitment for boxing or something like that in there that
- 41:49Speaker 1: they just came together and darts and snucker. And I'm
- 41:53Speaker 1: not trying to like rip on darts or snucker. It's
- 41:57Speaker 1: a big deal over there, so I get it. You know,
- 42:00Speaker 1: it's darts. You could say darts is like a lot
- 42:06Speaker 1: of people played darts in their life, like at bars
- 42:09Speaker 1: and stuff like that here, and there's definitely competitions, but
- 42:13Speaker 1: it's way bigger in the UK, and I'm sure in
- 42:18Speaker 1: other countries too. I've seen them, like I've seen like
- 42:22Speaker 1: the highlights in front of a big crowd and all that.
- 42:24Speaker 1: So I'm not trying to like dump on people that
- 42:27Speaker 1: watch darts over there. It's just a little bit different.
- 42:31Speaker 1: Like I said, a lot of people play it like
- 42:33Speaker 1: it's almost like soccer here. A lot of people play
- 42:37Speaker 1: soccer when they're young, but it's just you know, but
- 42:40Speaker 1: it's not really like that though, because there is an
- 42:43Speaker 1: MLS and and there's a lot of you know, Premium
- 42:47Speaker 1: League and other leagues that get shown neer. So it
- 42:49Speaker 1: just it is what it is. They made it seem
- 42:51Speaker 1: like it was a big, big deal. It's going to
- 42:53Speaker 1: be monster well for match Room itself, which does is
- 42:58Speaker 1: you know, has tentacles in different sports or activities whatever
- 43:05Speaker 1: you'd call them, right, So yeah, but I did see
- 43:11Speaker 1: this is no ring as well that REHT season Rehod
- 43:15Speaker 1: season has agreed to a major sponsorship with Boxer to
- 43:18Speaker 1: support new era UK fight nights. Uh you know with
- 43:22Speaker 1: the BBC. So I will say, you know, we gave
- 43:28Speaker 1: Turkey credit for getting Canelo and Crawford on Netflix, and
- 43:36Speaker 1: he said he wants to do more business with him.
- 43:39Speaker 1: I hope it's Netflix or whatever, paramount Amazon, any of
- 43:45Speaker 1: those HBO Max. We've talked about that with that tn T.
- 43:50Speaker 1: Tn T has some money laying around now that now
- 43:52Speaker 1: that they didn't fork out for the NBA. So I
- 43:57Speaker 1: mentioned all that, so that's a step in the right direction.
- 44:02Speaker 1: I'll give him credit there. We got to see the fights,
- 44:04Speaker 1: but yeah, I'll give him credit there. Definitely, like that
- 44:07Speaker 1: would be a big deal and I would love, you know,
- 44:11Speaker 1: to see more of that because some of these cards
- 44:15Speaker 1: or fights just in general have been undeniable as far
- 44:18Speaker 1: as how greatly matchmake they are. And it just fights,
- 44:24Speaker 1: you know, as we know BiVO and Beturba just wasn't
- 44:27Speaker 1: gonna happen and it wasn't gonna sell in a big
- 44:31Speaker 1: arena here or nothing like that. But he made that
- 44:34Speaker 1: fight and it was a great fight. And like I said,
- 44:36Speaker 1: he's had great cards, but if they're all on pay
- 44:38Speaker 1: per view besides one of them, when it comes to
- 44:43Speaker 1: rehat stuff like that's crazy, you know, and it's shrinking it.
- 44:49Speaker 1: And like I said, like Anthony Krola is the guy
- 44:53Speaker 1: that I mentioned. There was this interview and you know
- 44:57Speaker 1: they're talking about you know, the investment in boxing and
- 45:00Speaker 1: rehot and all that. But he said, you're seeing five
- 45:04Speaker 1: brilliant fights from Sadi, but what you're also seeing is
- 45:08Speaker 1: five headliners which could be you know, huge you know,
- 45:13Speaker 1: UK shows. British boxing is in a major crisis. Small
- 45:16Speaker 1: town halls have been absolutely basically you know gone in
- 45:21Speaker 1: a sense they've been they've decreased. So we always heard
- 45:27Speaker 1: and this is something I stress for the last few years,
- 45:30Speaker 1: like we always heard global it's going to grow the
- 45:32Speaker 1: sport globally. Well cool, grow it globally, but you can't.
- 45:38Speaker 1: And it's funny and we'll get to this with Dana
- 45:40Speaker 1: White said, you know, his reliance in the presence of
- 45:47Speaker 1: the sport being strong in the US and how that's
- 45:49Speaker 1: a must. You can't go away from the UK to
- 45:53Speaker 1: the level that they have UK and US and act
- 45:56Speaker 1: like you're going to grow. You can't grow it someplace
- 45:59Speaker 1: in d increase it majorly in another place like the
- 46:05Speaker 1: US and the UK. And so that's something I said
- 46:08Speaker 1: the whole time. Many people, you know, we're just looking
- 46:12Speaker 1: at the short term, like boxing does. You know the
- 46:15Speaker 1: people in charge of boxing for many years have been
- 46:18Speaker 1: short term you know, money grab stuff. Not everybody, but
- 46:24Speaker 1: you know there's been too much of it, and so
- 46:28Speaker 1: you know, it's it's just it has I mean, if
- 46:33Speaker 1: you're a boxing fan, even a hardcore boxing fan, I've
- 46:37Speaker 1: never in my life seen fights like I don't always.
- 46:43Speaker 1: I don't always have Saturday night off to just watch fights,
- 46:47Speaker 1: you know, and so that's that's normal. But whether it's
- 46:52Speaker 1: getting home late Saturday night or watching it Sunday, or
- 46:56Speaker 1: there's many times where I'm watching some of these fights
- 46:58Speaker 1: on Monday and Tuesday day, and you know, if it's
- 47:01Speaker 1: a crazy fight weekend and there's so many cards, which
- 47:04Speaker 1: you do wish they could have spread that out. Now
- 47:07Speaker 1: that we've gotten to some weekends where you're like, wow,
- 47:09Speaker 1: it's dry. You know, we have fight cards constantly on
- 47:13Speaker 1: the weekend, but are they worthy or is it just
- 47:18Speaker 1: you know, oversaturated And a lot of it is just oversaturated.
- 47:23Speaker 1: We said that for years too, you know, when it's
- 47:26Speaker 1: almost like there was too much. It's not like there
- 47:29Speaker 1: was too much, you know, platform televised boxing. It's like,
- 47:34Speaker 1: not all this stuff should be out there, and there
- 47:39Speaker 1: was pushback on that. But here we are right now,
- 47:41Speaker 1: and we're just in a really weird spot this part
- 47:45Speaker 1: of the year. You know, the first six months there's
- 47:47Speaker 1: some really good fights, and there's been fights since then.
- 47:50Speaker 1: But you know, when you're halfway through the year and
- 47:56Speaker 1: you had two separate times where you had like three
- 47:59Speaker 1: pay per views within a week or fay, you know,
- 48:02Speaker 1: four pay per views within like a month or something,
- 48:04Speaker 1: or two weeks or three weeks or whatever. It was
- 48:06Speaker 1: like that happened twice where there was three pay per views,
- 48:11Speaker 1: you know, and we're in a couple of weeks, we're
- 48:14Speaker 1: gonna get a uke you know, during the afternoon pay
- 48:18Speaker 1: per view and at night pay per view. So they're
- 48:20Speaker 1: making up. The powers that be are making up for
- 48:24Speaker 1: lost time in these last couple of months without pay
- 48:27Speaker 1: per view unfortunately. But yeah, it's been it's been a
- 48:32Speaker 1: drop off, man, it just has And you know, where
- 48:37Speaker 1: does top rank end? Ultimately? Where does the PBC with
- 48:41Speaker 1: Amazon go in the future, in the next you know,
- 48:44Speaker 1: two three years. Is it just gonna be the format
- 48:48Speaker 1: that they got where every once in a while they'll
- 48:50Speaker 1: throw us the bone and have a free prime Amazon Prime,
- 48:55Speaker 1: but it's mostly pay per view. I mentioned in the
- 48:59Speaker 1: last last episode. Will they have fighters that go to Zufa?
- 49:07Speaker 1: You know, it's it's interesting to see where all that
- 49:11Speaker 1: will go. But yeah, I mean it is what it is.
- 49:17Speaker 1: I did notice a boxing shrew Rob there was question
- 49:25Speaker 1: about him sharing a story, you know about Turkey, and
- 49:33Speaker 1: then his account, you know, something happened to his account.
- 49:37Speaker 1: Was that in an actual from that or not? I don't.
- 49:41Speaker 1: I don't know for sure, but there's more that has
- 49:47Speaker 1: happened in that realm as well that I will discuss
- 49:52Speaker 1: right now. But you know, it is what it is,
- 49:56Speaker 1: you know, I don't really know where we're at with that.
- 50:01Speaker 1: But just a couple more news items before I get
- 50:04Speaker 1: my take on some of the stuff that you know
- 50:07Speaker 1: Dana White was talking about, Uh, Murtya and Cruz, Andy Cruz,
- 50:13Speaker 1: Raymond Martya. Looks like that's up next. IBF ordered it,
- 50:20Speaker 1: sign me up for that. Eddy here and I also
- 50:22Speaker 1: talked to Ring Magazine saying that and this give me
- 50:27Speaker 1: a Saudi card, but Calliam Smith and David Morrell. Maybe
- 50:31Speaker 1: it'll be in that February somewhere in the first quarter
- 50:34Speaker 1: early twenty twenty six. So that's a good fight. I
- 50:38Speaker 1: really like that fight. I wouldn't doubt if you know
- 50:42Speaker 1: it's on a Benavi's Benavidez card, you know, in that realm,
- 50:46Speaker 1: I wouldn't you know, I wouldn't shock me that that
- 50:49Speaker 1: makes sense. So yeah, let's see. Oh, Ben Whittaker has
- 51:00Speaker 1: signed a long term promotional deal with Eddie Hearn Mattrum
- 51:05Speaker 1: and we'll fight on the zone moving forward. It sounds
- 51:10Speaker 1: like uh Pacheco is leaving his trainer and manager, Jose
- 51:16Speaker 1: Benavita Senior. He's due back December thirteenth on a matchroom show.
- 51:21Speaker 1: That's according to Boxing Scene. So yeah, we found out
- 51:33Speaker 1: Luis Nunez will face Hector so said. I saw this
- 51:36Speaker 1: on brunch Boxing on the Fundora Thurman undercard going up
- 51:41Speaker 1: at the end of the month. Pakiao said, Hey, I'm
- 51:45Speaker 1: gonna be back in the ring in Vegas January twenty fourth.
- 51:51Speaker 1: So he's not retiring, which we kind of knew he
- 51:54Speaker 1: wasn't going to retire. That was kind of a given,
- 51:59Speaker 1: you know, if you've been paying attention anyway. Oh yeah, Benavidez.
- 52:04Speaker 1: It sounds like Menavidez, once his contract is up with
- 52:08Speaker 1: Sampson that he will be leaving Samson. He wants to
- 52:11Speaker 1: promote himself. Now, whether that means he's just gonna sign
- 52:14Speaker 1: a deal with Saudi, like a longer deal, maybe a
- 52:18Speaker 1: four fight deal or something. Will he still, you know,
- 52:23Speaker 1: be with Hayman or not, I don't know, but it
- 52:30Speaker 1: does sound at least like he's gonna be done with
- 52:33Speaker 1: Sampson once this deals over. I also saw Ryan Garcia
- 52:39Speaker 1: posting something about wanting to fight. Mario Bio's next Well,
- 52:43Speaker 1: I'm sure that he does, because that would be, you know,
- 52:47Speaker 1: a way for him to try to get a belt.
- 52:51Speaker 1: Frank Martin and Rance's Bartholomew. That's on the prelimb's main event.
- 52:57Speaker 1: So that will be a part of your subscription fight.
- 53:01Speaker 1: Let's hope for the best in that one. Holy shit,
- 53:04Speaker 1: because that, oh boy, that could be. That could be.
- 53:07Speaker 1: That could be bad. That could be really bad. Okay,
- 53:12Speaker 1: So just talking more about the details the Paramount plus deal.
- 53:19Speaker 1: It's twelve cards paramount. I think it's right around last
- 53:25Speaker 1: I check, was like seventy nine million subscribers. From my understanding,
- 53:30Speaker 1: they don't it sounds like it's mostly US, but we
- 53:37Speaker 1: don't know for sure. They don't release that part of it.
- 53:41Speaker 1: But you know, I don't know if it's seventy of
- 53:44Speaker 1: that or sixty eight of it, or I don't know.
- 53:48Speaker 1: They recently, as of May eighth, they're still losing money,
- 53:54Speaker 1: like a lot of streaming services besides Amazon and Netflix.
- 53:58Speaker 1: But you know, they did shrink their losses to one
- 54:04Speaker 1: hundred and nine million. So but yeah, somewhere in the
- 54:09Speaker 1: seventy seven seventy nine you know, million subscriber rate. It's
- 54:16Speaker 1: going to be in US, Canada and Latin America. Part
- 54:19Speaker 1: of this deal there is potential for select events to
- 54:23Speaker 1: be simulcast on CBS and potentially you know, other paramount platforms.
- 54:32Speaker 1: Was whether that's like CBS, Sports Network or whatever. So
- 54:36Speaker 1: it's twelve cards, how you know, deep will these cards be?
- 54:40Speaker 1: How how many fights on there? Right? You know, I
- 54:50Speaker 1: thought Brian Campbell did a pretty good job. Now that
- 54:54Speaker 1: my first guess. I don't know if it's going to
- 54:57Speaker 1: be a pay per view worthy fight, which nowadays that
- 55:00Speaker 1: definition is really loose, right, But my guess is they're
- 55:05Speaker 1: going to make a variety of fights. Hopefully the matchmaking
- 55:09Speaker 1: solid just speaking from a boxing fan, right, but they'll
- 55:14Speaker 1: have several fights at different weight classes and then what
- 55:19Speaker 1: comes out of that, maybe that would be on CBS.
- 55:22Speaker 1: You know, whether that means it's a high level fight
- 55:25Speaker 1: or not. What we'll find out. We've heard everything from
- 55:29Speaker 1: contender type stuff to guys fighting other well not just guys.
- 55:36Speaker 1: They did say women are going to be involved, to
- 55:38Speaker 1: but boxers fighting other boxers at the correct time, which
- 55:43Speaker 1: you know has been an issue in boxing. He talked
- 55:46Speaker 1: about they're targeting, you know, going after targeting upwards of
- 55:54Speaker 1: four hundred and fifty fighters, and when I mentioned one
- 55:58Speaker 1: hundred and fifty or two hundred or whatever, people were
- 56:01Speaker 1: losing their mind. And it's like, dude, if you're gonna
- 56:03Speaker 1: have cards and you're gonna and if you're gonna you know,
- 56:07Speaker 1: they're only gonna supposedly use the ring rankings, well you
- 56:11Speaker 1: gotta have some ring ranked guys in there, then you know,
- 56:14Speaker 1: if you're gonna fight fighters, I mean, because like I said,
- 56:17Speaker 1: he did, you know, include women in there. So it's
- 56:21Speaker 1: not just prospect only, it's not just a lot of
- 56:25Speaker 1: the tagline was best versus best, undefeated versus undefeated. As
- 56:30Speaker 1: we know, undefeated versus undefeated doesn't always line up. There
- 56:34Speaker 1: could be a person that's, you know, seventeen and one,
- 56:37Speaker 1: but that that has better wins than his opponent, but
- 56:41Speaker 1: he just lost to a solid boxer as well. So
- 56:45Speaker 1: so twelve cards one per month, you'd assume, but maybe
- 56:48Speaker 1: there'll be one, there'll be a skip a month, and
- 56:51Speaker 1: then there'll be one early and one late within a month.
- 56:54Speaker 1: Who knows. I could see maybe building it up throughout
- 56:58Speaker 1: the year, and then having seen do it, I could
- 57:01Speaker 1: see maybe CBS doing in the summers certain time frame,
- 57:06Speaker 1: whether that you know, CBS has NFL, obviously has UFC
- 57:13Speaker 1: has a variety of things, right has college basketball? Will
- 57:18Speaker 1: you know, will these fights you'd assume be marketed now
- 57:21Speaker 1: the money hasn't been released as far as this deal,
- 57:23Speaker 1: but be marketed on those platforms to help with that
- 57:28Speaker 1: because you don't hear a lot. Well, it'll be interesting
- 57:31Speaker 1: to see what the what they're willing to release Netflix
- 57:34Speaker 1: and when it comes to sports, Netflix and Amazon has
- 57:41Speaker 1: been willing to release some information. Some of the information
- 57:46Speaker 1: that comes out, is it legit or not. That's that's
- 57:48Speaker 1: to be debated or halfway legit or whatever. But it'd
- 57:51Speaker 1: be interesting to see, you know, how that goes in
- 57:56Speaker 1: what those cards are getting and how much they helped
- 58:00Speaker 1: subscriber rates, you know, because obviously this is way lesser
- 58:04Speaker 1: of a deal. Even though we don't have the details,
- 58:06Speaker 1: we know that it's a way lesser deal. He did
- 58:10Speaker 1: mention like USA Tuesday Night fight vibes. You know, he
- 58:17Speaker 1: talked about a new design for the ring. He said,
- 58:21Speaker 1: this is where I thought, like rule changes. There's gonna
- 58:25Speaker 1: be rule changes. He said he'd be open to rule changes,
- 58:29Speaker 1: but he's not that's not his first and foremost thing
- 58:32Speaker 1: that he's doing. So what kind of rule you know
- 58:37Speaker 1: people already go to. What kind of rule changes that
- 58:39Speaker 1: we're talking about? You know, is it a rule change
- 58:42Speaker 1: where you actually you know, like if someone's being dirty,
- 58:49Speaker 1: will they actually make sure they call it or someone's
- 58:51Speaker 1: holding right? Or is he gonna shrink the ring so
- 58:57Speaker 1: much so you know, I wouldn't doubt if that's the case.
- 59:00Speaker 1: But he did say a new design on the ring,
- 59:03Speaker 1: and like I want to make sure to say that
- 59:06Speaker 1: possible rule changes. He didn't, you know, say it straight up,
- 59:09Speaker 1: we're going to change rules. He said it's open. He's
- 59:12Speaker 1: open for that. And he also talked about how you know,
- 59:15Speaker 1: not a word in the current ALI Act will be changed,
- 59:22Speaker 1: but he used the word so you can fight under
- 59:25Speaker 1: that or or not end you can fight, you know,
- 59:32Speaker 1: basically put his put the trust in me, you know.
- 59:36Speaker 1: And that's the thing, like I think having a some
- 59:41Speaker 1: I've said it many times, some universal committee like oversight
- 59:47Speaker 1: with teeth committee, boxing's needed for a long time. You know,
- 59:54Speaker 1: at least they're using the ring magazine rankings while they're
- 59:57Speaker 1: still pretty good. Let's see if that changes, it's better
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: than him doing their his own rankings, I guess you
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: could say, but he also said the strong US presence
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: is needed. He said he's open to traveling to new
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: cities as well, which that'd be kind of cool. Said
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: he really doesn't doesn't really foresee him working with other promoters,
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: but you know, there is talk of, well, if we
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: don't work with other promoters, if we just buy out
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: their fighters. That He did also mention in other interviews
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: that you know, he's trying to limit the role of
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: a manager. And don't get me wrong, some managers can
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: get in the way, but also are there as a safeguard,
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: so you know, it can go both ways, you know.
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: So it doesn't sound like it's going to be only
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: prospects only. I doubt they go out and try to
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: sign two, three, four hundred prospects maybe, but and then
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: just like show box on steroids or whatever. But until
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: you see the product, I'm not gonna go one way
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: or another, you know, Will they have less weight classes
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: that came up. They didn't really talk about it, though.
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: It sounds like they really need to still work out
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: a lot of information, and so you know, he's obviously
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: he talked about when questioned about will you work with
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: other promoters, he said, well, you know, I think I
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: think bigger than them. They don't think as big as me. So,
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: like I said, he's had a good relationship with Al
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: Hayman to an extent. He said that in past interviews
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: in years past that he likes Al. He said, I
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: liked Eddie Eddie. He said, Eddie's kind of turned into
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: uh oscar out of nowhere, which I don't see that.
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: But as far as his comments online or whatever, because
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: then he said, you know, I want to I want
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: to be able to compete or whatever with you, and
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: he doesn't think he can do it or whatever. Basically
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: like a show box ESPN Friday night fights at its best,
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: Tuesday night fight nights like Tuesday you know, fights on USA.
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: But he did say in that interview with Brian Campbell's
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: CBS Sports, you cannot have successful boxing business without the
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: United States. And it's just so funny. Now I did
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: hear Chris Mannix this was his own boxing here. The
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: Nolan brothers, who are a small promoter in the boxing area,
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: they've had experience dealing with TKO and ZUFA. They were
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: telling me that the contracts TKO were offering were not
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: better than the contracts they were offering. They're still offering
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: guys decent money to fight on these local club shows.
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: So you know, what's that ultimately mean? Right? Does that
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: mean obviously are they going to kind of go with
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: a club show? Because if you've been to it's funny
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: because a lot of people haven't even actually been the
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: club shows. They talk a lot of stuff about boxing
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: and their knowledge, but they haven't gone to a club show.
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: Plenty of people have, though they tend to be entertaining
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: if done right, fun fights. You know a lot of
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: these the winners, it doesn't lead to much, but you know,
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: is that has idea you know, club club fighters telling
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: a story of this guy and how he's uh, you know,
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: he paints houses and and that type of thing. He's
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: a union member, he's this, he's that, and then he's
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: fighting tonight. Check him out. You know, we're gonna make
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: him a star, you know. But he did also, as
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: I mentioned prior, that they're gonna build up these guys
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: and then pass them off to Turkey. So you know,
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: I don't know what that means. Turkey has monopolized a
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: great part of the boxing, that's just you know, undeniable.
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: Now he's overpaid massively to do it. Now we'll see
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: where the pay is, you know, and that's where you'd
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: hope that you'd still have a quality manager to wave yours,
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: you know, to help you in these waters, these choppy
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: waters that potentially could be Now, do you get more
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: exposure than anything right now? Yeah, probably depending on what
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: Turkey does. If Turkey just keeps doing the pay per
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: view route on his own, then hell yeah, you know,
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: you get way more. You know, maybe some PBC on
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: Amazon pay per views, get some attention. You can fight
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: on those owner cards. That's great, but it's not sustainable,
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: you know. So. But I also saw stuff like on
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: boxing Twitter, just to kind of mix it in. The
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: new way to duck fights in boxing is a sign.
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: And with ZUFA and hide over there, we got to
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: see that. You know, you can't just start saying that
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: in general. But Dana White says ZUFA fighters will only
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: fight each other. Well, how on earth are you going
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: to get into the ring ratings if they're not facing
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: a ring rated competition, which presumably is going to be
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: filled out with fighters outside of ZUFA. And that is
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: that's the whole thing. Are you just going to buy
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: them out of their contracts and spend a bunch of
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: a bunch of money that way, they are getting a
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: ten million dollar fee that you know has to be
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: paid from Turkey, you know. And other people have said, well,
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: if they're signing second tier guys, you got to see
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: who they sign first. Just because you see a couple signings,
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: that's not you know, like we got to see what
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: it is. You got to see what it is. I
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: don't jump to conclusions. So yeah, I mean, it has
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: potential for good and bad, and it's it's undeniable. How UFC,
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: you know, underpaid their fighters even though their revenue continues
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: to go up, they're underpaid so much so that there
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: was a court case, there was a settlement. There's a
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: bunch of stuff, you know, and it took UFC fighters
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: quite a while to organize to be able to even
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: get that settlement, which many people thought they should have
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: just kept going. It's easier said that done sometimes to
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: say it on the sidelines and whether you're gonna you know,
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: like win the case and get way more money than that.
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: Some people thought they they you know, it was it
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: was a settlement, so they wanted to make sure they
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: get a fair amount of money or whatever. But you
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: know that's we're gonna have to find that out, you
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: know that that's where it comes down to. Someone else
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: messaged me this screen shot. Number of victories and ring
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: title fights from reigning champions of men's boxing so ring
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: title fights. So Lineal Anyway has thirteen, Crawford has seven,
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: Usiks seven, Opataia seven, Tayo Femo five, Rodriguez three, Klazo three,
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: and Bivl won. And basically it was to show the
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: dominance Opataia as he fought some good fighters. Sure, but
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: that's one where you're like, well, not every undisputed or
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: you know, lineal title means the same Dimitri Bivel his
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: win over Baturbev means a lot more than a fair
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: amount of fights that Anyway's done lately. Anyways, competition hasn't
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: been all that great. You know, if you look at
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: what Usik did two different divisions, that's huge, right, and
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: a lot of times he was coming in there as
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: the underdog on the road. Crawford what he did was
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: spence and then also just recently did a crazy So yeah,
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: I mean, it kind of matters, you know what I mean.
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: You can't just look at it from a statistical way
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: and that's it, you know. So yeah, yeah, so I
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: think that is there any boxing Twitter stuff that I
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: want to get to. I think that does it. I
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: think that about wraps it up. Oh it's not that.
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: It's not brunch boxing anyway. Speaking to Anyway, says he
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: is experienced of the worst muscle soreness of his career.
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: He's due to fight henrihad this summer twenty seventh, and
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: that would be his fourth bout. As brunch boxing points out,
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: that's crazy. I mean, it's not that far away. So
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: I don't know. That's I wonder if he'll push that
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: fight back, and if so, does that fight then you
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: sit you presumably think that it would push back, you know,
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: the Knakatani fight. Or is he saying I don't want
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: to make that, I don't want to do this fight.
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: I want to train, you know for a Nakatani fight.
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: I don't know, man, I really don't know. But anyway,
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: I'm gonna get out of here enjoy the fights. This
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: Weekend Boxing does go out with a bit of a bang.
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: We got some good cards, good fights coming up, so
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: hang in there. Hopefully we'll get John back. He's been
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: busy to our schedules haven't matched up. Hopefully we get
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: John back next Tuesday. Either way, I will be back
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: next Tuesday or earlier in the week or something like that.
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: It won't be on a Wednesday or Thursday. Anyway, I'm
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: gonna get out of here, enjoy the fights this weekend. Peace,
