- 0:12Let's dive into today's episode as Ray and Annie reveal practical lessons from
- 0:17Romans 8 verse 1 that can set you free from misconceptions and lead you toward
- 0:21a marriage rooted in grace and unconditional love.
- 0:25Hey everyone, welcome back to the Couples Journey blog series podcast.
- 0:30We're on the final part of the series, making a guilt-free drop.
- 0:33Here's the final part of this week's series.
- 0:37Before we wrap up this series with some key lessons and practical applications
- 0:41for our marriage, I believe the first step we need to take is to change how we perceive guilt.
- 0:47Guilt can be a very uncomfortable emotion, but let's be grateful that we're
- 0:51feeling it. It simply means that our sense of right and wrong,
- 0:55our sensitivity to God's standards, is active.
- 0:58It would be more alarming if we weren't feeling anything at all,
- 1:01or if we were completely numb to that conviction.
- 1:05Remembering the true definition and profound meaning of condemnation in Romans
- 1:098 verse 1 can be incredibly helpful in freeing us from misconceptions about guilt.
- 1:15Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
- 1:19This verse also offers valuable lessons for our marriage. 1.
- 1:24Unconditional acceptance and forgiveness. Just as believers are not condemned
- 1:28by God because of Christ's sacrifice, we should learn to accept and forgive
- 1:33our spouses unconditionally.
- 1:35Love and grace can cover faults and mistakes. 2.
- 1:39Freedom from guilt through grace. In marriage, we may often feel guilt over
- 1:44mistakes, misunderstandings, or hurts that have happened.
- 1:47Like believers who are free from condemnation, we can find freedom by extending
- 1:52grace and forgiveness, letting go of past faults instead of holding onto them. 3.
- 1:58Eternal security promotes peace. Knowing that in Christ there is no condemnation
- 2:03can inspire us to foster an environment of trust and peace, a place where mistakes
- 2:08are forgiven rather than used as reasons to feel ongoing guilt.
- 2:12We can support each other in turning guilt into repentance and growth.
- 2:174. Walking in the Spirit, Love and Grace.
- 2:20Just as believers walk guided by the Spirit, we are encouraged to walk in love,
- 2:25humility, and grace, prioritizing righteousness and kindness over selfishness and conflict.
- 2:32Our intentional pursuit of
- 2:33faith plays a vital role in building a strong marriage anchored in Christ.
- 2:38If these lessons feel impossible to apply, don't be discouraged.
- 2:42We've been there too. We often remind couples who are discouraged or losing
- 2:47hope that we were once in a similar place.
- 2:49Things changed when we accepted Christ and became intentional about our faith journey.
- 2:54Our perceptions of Christianity and marriage have evolved because we embraced this journey with Him.
- 3:00So, in our ongoing conversations about guilt and grace, here are some practical
- 3:05applications that have helped us and continue to do so.
- 3:08Here are some practical applications. 1.
- 3:11Forgive and forget condemnation. Follow God's example.
- 3:15Regularly forgive your spouse. Don't use past mistakes as tools for guilt or
- 3:20punishment, but as opportunities for growth.
- 3:23Repentance and transformation through God's revelations.
- 3:272. Communicate without guilt. Foster open, honest conversations where both of
- 3:32you feel accepted and loved, no matter what is shared. 3.
- 3:37Build trust. Just as we trust in our salvation and security in Christ,
- 3:42we should purposefully build trust rooted in Him. This creates a safe space
- 3:46where both of you feel secure and free from guilt over past wrongs. 4.
- 3:52Support grace-filled living. Encourage each other to walk in love and kindness,
- 3:57making it easier to forgive and forget offenses rather than dwelling on guilt.
- 4:02These practical steps might bring about a lot of reflection on our shortcomings.
- 4:06It won't always be easy, especially with our spouses, but let's remember,
- 4:11our acceptance of Jesus Christ gives us access to the Holy Spirit.
- 4:16Who helps and guides us every day. It's through His power and influence that
- 4:21we can cultivate a marriage filled with grace, forgiveness, and unconditional love.
- 4:26Everyone makes mistakes, and everyone has weaknesses.
- 4:29But through love, forgiveness, and the transforming power of Christ,
- 4:34we can free each other from guilt, foster peace, and build a secure, joyful marriage.
- 4:40It's in trusting Jesus that we find true assurance, one that leads to repentance,
- 4:46transformation, and freedom from the consequences of our sins and past behaviors.
