Transcript
- 0:14And welcome to a July the fifth Alex Scarrett Podcasting and today on the one
- 0:20Leg Up feature. You know I would play a string of interviews for you
- 0:24on this one channel, but to make it easier for you and maybe a
- 0:28little more selective, I'm gonna feature four historical conversations I've had within the last
- 0:35year that I want to replay for you just by putting the description. So
- 0:40if you want to check out my conversation with people like Tom McMillan about a
- 0:44two hundred plus year old American flag that inspired the national anthem, and of
- 0:50course Francis Scott Key, or how about Richard halliwell, who is a re
- 0:56enactor and a very history minded person. We talk about a meeting in Philadelphia
- 1:03a year ago, an Independence Hall. We'll replay that, and don't forget
- 1:07my trip to Independence Hall. You can get that feature also in the links
- 1:12where our great tour guide told us all about what went down on July fourth,
- 1:18seventeen seventy six, well really July second, seventeen seventy six, when
- 1:23they made the declaration, signed, sealed, and delivered an America Free.
- 1:30But here is the main question for you on this one leg up with Alex
- 1:34Garrett today putting all news aside. Okay, it's a tragedy really, and
- 1:38it's it's it's kind of sad that we have to hear that cocaine was found
- 1:42in the White House. We don't know from who, but I think the
- 1:47day after celebrating two hundred and forty seven, we now march like they marched,
- 1:53you know, with the enemy harassed in the New Jersey as Washington harassed
- 1:57our enemy in New Jersey on route to becoming independent. You'll hear about that
- 2:01conversation as well in the links just by clicking the link. But here,
- 2:09as we marched now toward year two forty eight, we're basically in year two
- 2:14forty eight of America. The question is, how do we preserve this country
- 2:19another year? How do we not let it fall apart completely at the seams
- 2:23to the point where we can't even unite? That's right, unite in on
- 2:29the East River, like my girlfriend and I did yesterday to watch the Macy's
- 2:32Independence Day fireworks, our first time watching it. That was great. How
- 2:37do we make sure we can continue these traditions and preserve our country? How
- 2:42can we as Ben Franklin one said, keep it. How can we keep
- 2:49this republic alive another year and then maybe inch toward two fifty. Well,
- 2:54my thought process on this is simple. We have to unite as communities and
- 3:00not let not let the news dictate how we are to each other, not
- 3:07let how I don't know the White House is being portrayed on television. And
- 3:14most importantly, we can't just shun our neighbor because we disagree politically. See,
- 3:21the way we're going to keep the fabric of our country alive is basically
- 3:27by staying together as communities, staying united in our mission of protecting our kids,
- 3:34protecting our values, and protecting our lives, and saying no to anything
- 3:38that would really harm us. When you see yesterday at the East River,
- 3:46no one cared who was what, but everybody cared that they were enjoying a
- 3:50great time and watching the fireworks. But no one cared about race, gender
- 3:53orientation. They just wanted to enjoy a night of celebrating independence. And that
- 4:00is what we have to preserve day in and day out, that coming together,
- 4:05no matter the race, gender orientation, disability or not, we have
- 4:11to be strong, be united, speak down things that are not right,
- 4:18speak in unison, against those things that may not be right for this country.
- 4:25Yes, even at the ballot box. But this far goes far beyond
- 4:29not in my backyard. This is you're not dividing us anymore. Media,
- 4:39You're not dividing us anymore. Senate Congress, Washington. On the whole,
- 4:46we're gonna stick together, and that doesn't mean seceding. But clearly, while
- 4:51you play a role, you're not doing anybody favors. Sometimes, as a
- 5:00community, we have to stay united. Okay, and I could reference the
- 5:04disabled community, but I mean those who just want to keep America's fabric in
- 5:10one piece at the end of the day, and hearing stories like the links
- 5:16you're gonna find below, select who you want to listen to, will tell
- 5:21you and help you in your in your maybe hopefully quest to preserve history.
- 5:29That's what I've been trying to do with all these different interviews, because the
- 5:32more we preserve history for people to listen to, the more likely our fabric
- 5:38is going to be staying intact for year two forty eight. And the last
- 5:43thing is we cannot let the small voices and the and the the things that
- 5:57really are outrageous had the loudest voices and you can interpret however you want.
- 6:05But I feel like we've let everything run loose, We've let chaos ensue by
- 6:11listening to a very small voice, small amount of voices who want to shut
- 6:24down the police. Not every American wants to defund the police. You know
- 6:29what they do want They want our safety first. They want country to come
- 6:39first. Hell, a lot of people want God to come first. And
- 6:46while we may never ever get to where God is first on everybody's mind,
- 6:50those that are God minded and believing, you know, those are the voices
- 6:58that should really say end up and not do an insurrection. Of course,
- 7:01not those are those are not godly people, the ones that stormed the capital.
- 7:06No, no, no, that's that's not godly. But if you
- 7:14want to preserve this country for another year, our voices who want reason and
- 7:23who want you know, our country is founded on reason, by the way,
- 7:28and who want a system in place where everybody is equal. Burning down
- 7:38buildings is not the answer. The answer is actually coming together for barbecues,
- 7:46for fireworks, for even you know, community events. I do think that
- 7:58means going to your community board meetings. That would be a big star to
- 8:01keeping communities intact, because once we lose the fabrics of I don't know,
- 8:05a little Memorial Day parade, and once we lose the never ending traditions like
- 8:18the fireworks because of a far extreme ideal, that's when we should be worried.
- 8:33Look, we are two hundred forty seven years strong, but there's no
- 8:35reason we can't get to year two forty eight. There's no reason why we
- 8:41can't stay intact another day like tomorrow the sixth. But the only way we
- 8:46do that is if we honor America and how we've gotten here and why we
- 8:52love to be here, why we are Americans, right, Richard v battle
- 9:01for two hundred and forty eight years, and then from those foundations we can
- 9:09then continue to serve our country so that we may protect it, because not
- 9:16just protecting your community, you're protecting the country when you protect your community.
- 9:22I'm Alex Garrett, and again, Americans, I believe the majority of us
- 9:35have a different feeling than what we see on TV. So turn off that
- 9:39TV and just focus on keeping this fabric of a great nation that we live
- 9:46in and call America alive. Yes, Ben Franklin, this is a republic
- 9:56and we can keep it. God bless America. Here on the Alex Garrett
- 10:01Podcast Network.
