- 0:00Speaker 1: This is Kiss Breakfast.
- 0:02Speaker 2: So we now know how much NSYNC was making when
- 0:05Speaker 2: they were in the prime of their stardom. So formed
- 0:09Speaker 2: in 95, NSYNC was made up of Justin Timberlake, obviously,
- 0:12Speaker 2: before he went solo. JC something, Joey Fatone, Chris Fitzpatrick.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Was it JC Chazaz?
- 0:19Speaker 3: Yeah, Chazaz. That's the least one. Oh, Chris Kirkpatrick. I
- 0:24Speaker 3: don't know who that is. He's like the least known one.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Chris Kirkpatrick, you're going to get your ass kicked. Worse
- 0:29Speaker 1: than the little biscuit bastard.
- 0:31Speaker 3: Oh, is that from M & M?
- 0:32Speaker 2: Oh, look at you. It is, right? Chris Kirkpatrick, you're
- 0:34Speaker 2: going to get your ass kicked. I know that line, yeah.
- 0:38Speaker 2: The NSYNC came from the last letter of all their names.
- 0:41Speaker 2: So Justin is the N. And then Chris is.
- 0:44Speaker 3: The S, you know what I mean?
- 0:45Speaker 1: Yeah, gotcha.
- 0:46Speaker 3: Y is Joey.
- 0:46Speaker 1: I didn't know that.
- 0:47Speaker 3: Yeah, fun fact for you.
- 0:49Speaker 2: So, yeah, Lance Bass has done a new interview. And,
- 0:52Speaker 2: of course, they had massive, massive success. Songs like Bye
- 0:55Speaker 2: Bye Bye, which went, like, hugely. Like, it went to
- 0:59Speaker 2: number one in, like, sorry, number two in the U.S.
- 1:03Speaker 4: Oh.
- 1:03Speaker 3: But it did get a Grammy nomination.
- 1:06Speaker 2: And It's Gotta Be Me went to number one in
- 1:08Speaker 2: the U.S. So they had huge songs. So it's a
- 1:11Speaker 2: shock to hear how little they actually made when they
- 1:14Speaker 2: were in that group.
- 1:15Speaker 3: Let's have a listen. $ 35 a day.
- 1:18Speaker 4: Wow.
- 1:19Speaker 2: Rich.
- 1:19Speaker 5: I mean, you really only ended up making like between
- 1:23Speaker 5: $ 5, 000 and $ 10, 000 from this thing, though. Yeah, it was.
- 1:26Speaker 5: Our first check was a $ 10, 000 check after years of
- 1:30Speaker 5: number one albums, sellout tours.
- 1:33Speaker 2: Man.
- 1:34Speaker 5: I don't know how many millions I made off our
- 1:35Speaker 5: merchandise because merchandise was insane. And then they finally give
- 1:39Speaker 5: us a check for $ 10, 000. And like, oh. Thanks.
- 1:43Speaker 1: We should be grateful for that.
- 1:45Speaker 5: I've been working for free for two, three years now.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Oh, that's incredible.
- 1:49Speaker 3: $ 35 a day.
- 1:50Speaker 1: But the 10K after all that work.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Oh, and back then people went crazy for boy bands
- 1:57Speaker 2: and we didn't have the access to them online like
- 1:59Speaker 2: we do now. So you're buying CDs, you're buying merchandise.
- 2:02Speaker 3: Like you said, you're going to see them.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Like it just proves that A, a bad deal was
- 2:07Speaker 2: clearly made when they first signed to that label.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Yeah, that contract was ripping them off.
- 2:11Speaker 2: Yes, but also- People you see in the media, whether
- 2:14Speaker 2: they be a radio personality, TV personality, singer, actor, whatever they.
- 2:18Speaker 3: Are, just because they're known and famous doesn't mean they're rich.
- 2:22Speaker 1: No, there's a lot of people that like singers, for example,
- 2:24Speaker 1: I'm sure you'd know, Sean, like they've got to work
- 2:27Speaker 1: really hard. It's hard to actually make money.
- 2:29Speaker 6: Yeah, most of them will have another job or maybe
- 2:31Speaker 6: even two other jobs.
- 2:32Speaker 3: Yeah, really?
- 2:33Speaker 6: That's just the way it is. Sometimes you might even
- 2:35Speaker 6: see these musicians performing on TV and you're thinking, wow,
- 2:38Speaker 6: they must be making like half a million dollars for
- 2:39Speaker 6: this performance. No.
- 2:40Speaker 3: A lot of the time they're doing it just to
- 2:42Speaker 3: promote their music.
- 2:43Speaker 6: Some will do it for free just so that people
- 2:44Speaker 6: will go on stream or listen to their music.
- 2:47Speaker 3: It's a hard slog.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Especially here, I think.
- 2:48Speaker 3: And in Australia as well.
- 2:50Speaker 2: I can't remember which group it was, but there's a
- 2:52Speaker 2: guy that was in one of the biggest bands in
- 2:53Speaker 2: Australian history. He's now working as a real estate agent
- 2:56Speaker 2: in the Central Coast. Because unless you continue to release
- 3:00Speaker 2: music and have a steady... like, you know, income of
- 3:03Speaker 2: middle income, then you're going to have to, if you quit,
- 3:06Speaker 2: go back to a normal job and then people like
- 3:08Speaker 2: you're being shown like a house by Lance Bass from NSYNC.
- 3:12Speaker 1: I think we should have a moment of silence for
- 3:14Speaker 1: all the entertainers that aren't making much money. Here we go.
- 3:16Speaker 3: No, I agree. That's a moment. Because it's just like
- 3:20Speaker 3: anything though.
- 3:22Speaker 6: That was nice.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Good moment.
- 3:23Speaker 2: How nice is it sometimes to just dead silence, by
- 3:25Speaker 2: the way?
- 3:28Speaker 3: Someone's breathing. Is that you, Sean?
- 3:30Speaker 1: Let's see.
- 3:31Speaker 6: I've got to breathe.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Not into the mic, though. No, let's do a proper
- 3:35Speaker 1: moment of silence, no breathing.
- 3:36Speaker 3: But then we're going to get the tape that fires off.
- 3:38Speaker 2: How long?
- 3:39Speaker 1: Does anyone know how long until the backup tape fires off?
- 3:43Speaker 4: It could be 30 seconds.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Okay, we've got a while then. Remember the old station
- 3:47Speaker 1: we worked on? Every time it'd go off air, you'd
- 3:49Speaker 1: hear Beyonce's Sweet Dreams.
- 3:51Speaker 3: Turn the lights on. Because that was the first song on.
- 3:53Speaker 1: The backup tape. Okay, ready moment of silence for the
- 3:56Speaker 1: entertainers that are doing it tough.
- 4:05Speaker 3: Let's move on. Okay, Shane Gillis. You mightn't know his name.
- 4:09Speaker 2: If you watch Kevin Hart's most recent Netflix roast, he
- 4:12Speaker 2: kind of hosted that.
- 4:14Speaker 3: So you may know him from that. You may know
- 4:16Speaker 3: him from SNL.
- 4:17Speaker 2: But why I'm bringing him up is because he's done
- 4:20Speaker 2: an SNL episode over the weekend and he's going viral
- 4:22Speaker 2: because he's copping a lot of backlash for some of
- 4:25Speaker 2: the comments he made about women.
- 4:27Speaker 3: In the show and in the opener.
- 4:29Speaker 2: So like other celebrities like, you know, Dan Levy from
- 4:32Speaker 2: his dad's like Gene Levy, who was in American Pie,
- 4:34Speaker 2: but he's in Schitt's Creek.
- 4:36Speaker 3: He's come out and said something about him.
- 4:37Speaker 2: So first I want to play you Shane Gillis's monologue
- 4:40Speaker 2: and I want to hear what you think of it.
- 4:43Speaker 4: Also, I haven't been to the gym in so long.
- 4:44Speaker 4: I didn't know women just dress like now.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Look, I'm sorry.
- 4:49Speaker 6: There's no other way to describe.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Have you seen it?
- 4:52Speaker 4: I've seen it.
- 4:53Speaker 1: The shorts. Have you seen the shorts?
- 4:57Speaker 3: That is what.
- 4:59Speaker 1: What he's talking about, I'm guessing, is those shorts where.
- 5:02Speaker 3: The little bum scrunch shorts.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Yeah, where we're seeing your bottom. What's the deal with them? Don't,
- 5:07Speaker 1: you know, can't say I hate them.
- 5:09Speaker 3: No, you'd love them. But I just think... Why are
- 5:11Speaker 3: you wearing shorts like that? I understand branding these women as.
- 5:15Speaker 4: You know.
- 5:15Speaker 1: You'd call them whores.
- 5:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:17Speaker 1: So I'm not saying that. I'm saying what's the deal
- 5:19Speaker 1: with your bum pants? Yeah.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Um, yeah, we beeped that word, but then, um, yeah,
- 5:23Speaker 2: but then I think there's much worse things that are
- 5:27Speaker 2: said that it doesn't make.
- 5:29Speaker 3: It okay though.
- 5:29Speaker 2: So that's the only thing, but, um, Yeah, it doesn't
- 5:32Speaker 2: make it okay, I guess, to say that women who
- 5:34Speaker 2: are at the gym for the purpose of working out,
- 5:36Speaker 2: there would be some potentially that are doing it for
- 5:38Speaker 2: the attention.
- 5:39Speaker 3: Most are just there to do their thing and leave,
- 5:41Speaker 3: you know?
- 5:42Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it's the way he said it. He's
- 5:43Speaker 1: basically saying they're prozzies.
- 5:45Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 5:46Speaker 2: Like he's basically just branding women who dress that way as, yeah.
- 5:50Speaker 1: But isn't it just fashion? Like active wear is not,
- 5:54Speaker 1: it's not really active wear anymore.
- 5:55Speaker 5: Is it?
- 5:56Speaker 2: No, no.
- 5:57Speaker 3: And it's got smaller and smaller.
- 5:59Speaker 2: And some women like to follow the trend and wear
- 6:02Speaker 2: what's in fashion. And at the moment, the fashion is
- 6:04Speaker 2: to wear not a whole lot. And if you've got
- 6:06Speaker 2: the body for it, go for it.
- 6:07Speaker 1: Have you got those bum pants?
- 6:08Speaker 3: Oh, God, no.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Is that what they're called, bum pants?
- 6:12Speaker 2: They're like bum scrunch because they've got the little thing
- 6:15Speaker 2: in the middle that, like, you know, makes your bum
- 6:16Speaker 2: look really voluptuous.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Can dudes wear them?
- 6:18Speaker 2: I cannot pull it off. But I'm not sitting there
- 6:20Speaker 2: looking at the women who do and calling them that.
- 6:22Speaker 2: I think that's the issue.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Do the gay guys in your community wear them? We
- 6:27Speaker 1: wear anything. There's a lot of BS that goes on
- 6:30Speaker 1: in the clubs.
- 6:31Speaker 2: Oh, right.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Yeah, but scrunch pants? Scrunch bum pants?
- 6:33Speaker 3: I'm sure there would be some.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Yeah, not my thing, but yeah.
- 6:37Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 6:38Speaker 1: I like them.
- 6:38Speaker 2: Well, this is what Dan Levy said about Shane Gillis'
- 6:43Speaker 2: SNL speech or monologue.
- 6:45Speaker 4: Women wearing short shorts to the gym does not make
- 6:49Speaker 4: them whores. It makes the men calling them whores. misogynists.
- 6:54Speaker 4: There's a difference there. By the way, I've seen more
- 6:57Speaker 4: men's nipples at the gym than I've ever seen women
- 7:01Speaker 4: showing their bodies off. But I'm speechless that something like
- 7:06Speaker 4: that can exist on live national television.
- 7:09Speaker 3: I think it was the use of that word. Yeah,
- 7:12Speaker 3: it's the word.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Yeah, it's aggressive.
- 7:14Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:14Speaker 1: What about dudes taking their shirt off.
- 7:16Speaker 3: At the gym?
- 7:16Speaker 1: Are we okay with that?
- 7:18Speaker 3: It depends what you look like.
- 7:21Speaker 1: Oh, sexist.
- 7:22Speaker 3: Nah, I actually think no, hygiene-wise, it's gross.
- 7:24Speaker 1: There are many dudes that do that. I don't do gyms.
- 7:27Speaker 3: It depends on what kind of gym.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Like, if you're using shared equipment and you're laying on, like,
- 7:31Speaker 2: you've got to make sure you're wiping it down afterwards. Like,
- 7:33Speaker 2: if you're doing the bench press and you're sweating all
- 7:35Speaker 2: over it and then you're just walking away and not
- 7:37Speaker 2: wiping it down, yeah, that's an issue.
- 7:38Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 7:38Speaker 3: But if you're just kind of, like, doing your own
- 7:41Speaker 3: thing and being hygienic, yeah.
- 7:42Speaker 1: What about a dude only wearing bum scrunch pants? And
- 7:46Speaker 1: no shirt.
- 7:47Speaker 3: Good for him.
- 7:49Speaker 2: Good for him if he's that fashion forward that he's
- 7:51Speaker 2: in the bum scrunch pants and he knows what's what.
- 7:54Speaker 3: Good for him, I say.
