- 0:01The station where our veterans voices are heard.
- 0:04MBR talk. Hey thanks for tuning.
- 0:09In welcome are those of the speakers and do not necessarily
- 0:14reflect the views or positions of any entities they represent.
- 0:17Find. Us on the web at MB radio dot
- 0:20US. Welcome, welcome, welcome,
- 3:16ladies and gentlemen, you are back at it.
- 3:19We are back at it again here on this grand July 10th, 2025.
- 3:26MJ is still not with us. You know, she she's still
- 3:31licking her wounds from her dog passing away and just just just
- 3:36a lot of things going on. So have Amber, the the beautiful
- 3:42Amber sitting in her place today.
- 3:46And yeah, you know, I told Amber, I'm like, hey, you know,
- 3:50we need to, we need to come up with a what the.
- 3:52And we need to come up with this and we need to come up with that
- 3:56and. A couple of minutes before she.
- 4:01Right. We're we're going to work on it.
- 4:03But yeah, Amber, Amber has been told that she's going to be
- 4:09sued. So we're going to we're going to
- 4:11jump into that, you know, a little later on today.
- 4:15So today is going to be, you know, we usually suggest you
- 4:22drink coffee watching the show. Today we'll be drinking Twisted.
- 4:26Tea so. Top three stories that we need
- 4:31to know and if you didn't know, you're listening to the ACE
- 4:34Train show where since 2015 we've been showing veterans and
- 4:40our men and women in uniform all over the world that there are
- 4:43more programs out there beyond the VA.
- 4:45My name's Ace Train and Amber from the popular show here on
- 4:51MBR into the weeds, which let's not forget, you can meet her,
- 4:58you can talk to her. You can see her September 5th.
- 5:02I I think it's like what? Like con Expo?
- 5:07What, what is it called? Crime Con from 5th Con.
- 5:10Crime con Sammy Swanson I was way off OK, so you can you can
- 5:18meet her and the lovely Alaura. They're going to be here
- 5:23broadcasting September 5th. So circle that date.
- 5:28Don't forget it. You know, since we last left
- 5:33off, we'll we'll go into review and let you know that the
- 5:38skydiving, it was successful. You know, it probably would have
- 5:47because they were big networks that requested, you know, hey,
- 5:53you got, you know, you got media stuff, pictures, videos.
- 5:58Evidently our pictures came out a little bit better than the
- 6:01video. So that's the reason why I
- 6:03didn't run, you know, and we got to remember that, you know,
- 6:07everybody here at this station, it is, is learning.
- 6:14We're not perfect, you know, we, we we've learned how to bandage
- 6:20it by, oh, you can't hardly hear the person talking.
- 6:25OK, well, we're just going to use it as B roll and and use a
- 6:28song. And so that's what we did.
- 6:34But, you know, even though it didn't give the coverage that we
- 6:37wanted it to give it, it changed lives.
- 6:41You can tell that it changed lives once they were done.
- 6:46And let me, let me just say that, you know, here at MBR, we,
- 6:53we really do push the narrative that, you know, we appreciate
- 6:57veterans and we appreciate their service.
- 7:00You know, they need to be proud. But one thing that we don't push
- 7:04enough is firefighters and police and EMTs, paramedics, you
- 7:10know, just remember that those are essential jobs and that if
- 7:14we don't have those going every single day at a high velocity,
- 7:22we will be losing as a society. So including them into something
- 7:29like we did skydiving is really important.
- 7:33Maybe not for us, maybe not for, you know, fundraising because we
- 7:35didn't raise that many funds, but it was important to them.
- 7:40And you know that that that was the impact.
- 7:43That was the impact. You know, we we had some great
- 7:46interviews, you know, that the Heather where she was talking
- 7:50about how, you know, they went into a house.
- 7:52I mean, Can you imagine that you walking into a house, you
- 7:56already got fire, you already got smoke, you know, and the
- 8:00next thing you know, bam, the floor caves in right under you,
- 8:05you fall into the basement. And you know, any one of us
- 8:12would be like, oh, oh, I heard. But you sometimes you can't do
- 8:18that. You have to snap into action.
- 8:20You do where it becomes worse. And I'm glad that we got to spot
- 8:25like that so many times. We we hear about it, we see it,
- 8:30but we don't fully understand the stories and stuff that they
- 8:35go through. That's how we learn to
- 8:37appreciate them. Yeah, I've personally been in a
- 8:40house fire where somebody actually had to come in and
- 8:42rescue me. So I understand the gratitude or
- 8:46the the gravity of the situation, you know, And it was
- 8:52actually my cousin who was staying the night who ran in and
- 8:56saved three of us, actually four of us.
- 8:59Wow. Well, I just know that you know
- 9:04that we was going to we, we, we was going to partner with
- 9:08another organization for the skydiving.
- 9:12And that was the only reason why we did it was because we wanted
- 9:16to include the the first responders and our mission is
- 9:22accomplished. Now our next mission is licking
- 9:26our wounds and and trying to raise some of the phones and
- 9:30stuff back so that we can pay some bills.
- 9:33So if at any time that you'd like to go to MBR and you would
- 9:38donate, feel free to donate the the winner.
- 9:45The winner of the highest donation still gets the the
- 9:49beaker bobblehead. So keep in mind that is still up
- 9:54for grabs. Do you have an example of it?
- 9:59You know, I don't, it's at the studio, it's at the, it's at the
- 10:03MBR studio. Three things that I do want to
- 10:07bring up before we get into the three top stories for the day.
- 10:12This Saturday we will be doing another remote at the Douglas
- 10:16County Fairground for American Military Family.
- 10:20We'll be doing that. Cassie will be selling her, her,
- 10:25her, her coloring books as well. We're going to be playing
- 10:29fifties, 60s music. If you have a bike, if you have
- 10:33a a truck or a car, it is a car show.
- 10:37They're going to be giving lots of prizes out.
- 10:40They're going to be giving lots of trophies out and you know, of
- 10:44course we'll be giving out our little mini uniform ducks.
- 10:49I can assure you, whenever you see the MBR emblem, whenever
- 10:53we're in anywhere, you can be assured that we're going to be
- 10:57giving out ducks. We're going to be giving out
- 11:02ducks. And I want to make, I want to,
- 11:04I, I just want to re emphasize this everybody that, you know,
- 11:07the reason why we get those ducks is so that veterans and
- 11:11other people, they can look at that duck and they can think
- 11:13themselves, OK, I can really weather through the storm.
- 11:17You know, nothing that's so bad that you can't weather through
- 11:21your, your life might feel like it's ending right at that last
- 11:25second. And then you look at that duck
- 11:27and you're like, hold up. You know what the it's going to
- 11:30be better on the week up, you know, let, let that, let that
- 11:34pain, let that crying, let all that bad juju, you know, go over
- 11:39your head like water on a duck's head.
- 11:43OK, water a duck's back. Yeah, Yeah, there we go.
- 11:48That, that sounds better. That sounds better.
- 11:50OK. And then the 19th, we'll be also
- 11:54doing a remote. I'll get that location.
- 11:59It's at a soccer convention. What, what whatever that is.
- 12:04I, I'm not really into soccer, but you know, it's going to be,
- 12:07it's going to be a fun time. Hollywood is going to be there
- 12:11as well. Also on August 6th, we have, we
- 12:17have a golf outing, celebrity golf outing.
- 12:21Some of the selected Colorado veterans are going to be playing
- 12:25golf with the Denver Broncos, the Denver Nuggets and the
- 12:29Avalanche. So that's going to be, that's
- 12:32going to be good times as well. I talked to Stokely last week,
- 12:38the Denver Broncos meet and greet.
- 12:40It's not going to happen this year.
- 12:42And one of the reasons why it's not going to happen this year is
- 12:44because they're doing some kind of construction over at Dove
- 12:48Valley. I think they're anticipating on
- 12:50building a brand new stadium. And because they're building a
- 12:53brand new stadium, it's just going to be really chaotic.
- 12:57So they chose not to do that this year.
- 13:00And that's OK. That's that's that's fine.
- 13:02In the end. Then they're not going to do it
- 13:04this year. We are going to do something in
- 13:09place of that. I don't know what we're going to
- 13:12do. Hell, I don't know, maybe we
- 13:14might go paint, gunning or horseback ride.
- 13:18We're going to do something, damn it.
- 13:20We're going to do something. And just so everybody knows, if
- 13:24you're in the Denver area, you're more than welcome to come
- 13:27by to the studio and join us every Wednesday and every Friday
- 13:32broadcast. You know, it's a, it's a good
- 13:36thing. We had a lot of shows this week
- 13:39that didn't air that didn't go live.
- 13:42And one of the one of those one of the reasons why they didn't
- 13:46go live. And we want to give our hearts
- 13:51and our prayers out to all those folks in Texas with the raising
- 13:57crisis that is going on there. You got a crisis in Texas and
- 14:02then you got a crisis in Philadelphia, which they just,
- 14:06they just briefed everybody that in Philadelphia, the trash will
- 14:12resume starting Monday. You know, so that's, that's,
- 14:18that's what's going around in the neck of the woods.
- 14:22You know what we're going to do? We're going to go on.
- 14:26But before I go on a commercial break, commercial break, I'm
- 14:30sitting here rambling on. Amber, tell us, tell us what
- 14:36what's going on? Anything new, anything that you
- 14:39want to update anybody on? I know that you and Charles just
- 14:44got back from a vacation and. Yeah, we went to Eureka Springs
- 14:50and we took the bike out there, so it was a nice ride and we we
- 14:56hung out at the Crescent Hotel for a little while.
- 14:58It's considered America's most haunted hotel and didn't see
- 15:05anything, although I did have multiple experiences going into
- 15:11the bathroom. When you step up into the
- 15:14women's bathroom, there's this odd smell, and it's not a normal
- 15:18bathroom odd smell. Oh, it's not cookies, OK.
- 15:22And it took me like 4 times going in there to figure out
- 15:26what it was. But when you step up on the step
- 15:29to get into the women's restroom, it smells like a man's
- 15:33breath. You have to walk through the
- 15:35smell of a man's breath. And it took me a long time, you
- 15:40know, four tries going in there to figure out what it was.
- 15:43But yeah, that's the only weird thing I experienced there.
- 15:48A man's breath. Yes.
- 15:50Evidently he wasn't wearing that Cologne on TikTok.
- 15:54Oh my God, you know, I, I tell you what, I, I, I really did.
- 16:03I used to love TikTok. So I guess by I think they said
- 16:08August 9th, by August 9th, there's going to be a new TikTok
- 16:13app. It's going to be US and it's
- 16:15called, you know, and The thing is, is you can't, you can't redo
- 16:25TikTok. The key thing about TikTok was
- 16:28the algorithm. It's been over a year now.
- 16:31And I think we all can agree TikTok is not the same as it
- 16:36used to be before that blackout that, that, that server change
- 16:40that night. So they're, they're really
- 16:44trying to, they're really trying to increase in the TikTok.
- 16:48And you know, every time I look at TikTok, I, I, I feel like I'm
- 16:53QVC, you know, I feel like I'm on my Home Shopping Network
- 16:57because it's literally all it is anymore.
- 17:00But go ahead. I was just going to say for a
- 17:05while I did not like TikTok but recently I've gotten on native
- 17:09TikTok and I'm starting to get all the Native American tik toks
- 17:13and they are so hilarious. I mean, if you understand native
- 17:17humor, it is amazing. Some of these creators are doing
- 17:22a really great job. Well, I tell you what, when we
- 17:27come back, we're going to get into the three top stories
- 17:30today. We're also going to see if we
- 17:32can bring up that video that Amber was talking about.
- 17:38But until then, we're going to go on a music break.
- 17:41And when we come back, we'll, we'll reconvene that music
- 17:45break. Brand new song that just came
- 17:48out Thursday night, 12 midnight on Friday, right before the
- 17:53skydiving. And I tell you what, what a
- 17:56beautiful song to play during the skydiving.
- 18:00Ladies and gentlemen, it is die tired, fall forever.
- 21:56The station where our veterans voices are heard MBR talk.
- 21:59Hey, thanks. For tuning in, welcome are those
- 22:05of the speakers and do not necessarily reflect the views or
- 22:10positions of any entities they represent.
- 22:13The web at MB radio dot. Welcome back, ladies and
- 22:18gentlemen. Again, you're listening to the
- 22:21show, the highlights, all the nonprofit programs out there
- 22:24beyond the VA. You're listening to the H
- 22:26Strange show. And sitting in for MJ today is a
- 22:31beautiful amber. Amber, I tell you what, we are
- 22:35going to go right into the three things that we need to know
- 22:39today, and then we're going to go into the what the segment.
- 22:44So here we go. Ladies and gentlemen, the three
- 22:47top stories that we need to know is the Ukraine war exhibition.
- 22:53Imagine that so Ukraine president Zelenskyi accused
- 22:58Russia of pure terrorism following recent Russian air
- 23:02strikes targeting military sites near Kaiv.
- 23:09Also, humanitarian crisis in Gaza, multiple overnight Israel
- 23:15strikes in Gaza reportedly killed around 20 people,
- 23:19including children, overwhelming local hospital and aid workers.
- 23:24So much for the ceasefire. Global tariffs tension.
- 23:30Trump has initiated 50% tariffs on the Brazilian copper and
- 23:35other goods, prompting strong push back from trade and popular
- 23:40circle. So those, those tariffs and all
- 23:44that stuff that that's, that's not going away anytime soon.
- 23:49Sports update. Just so you guys know, I mean,
- 23:54Major League Baseball is in the air today.
- 23:59The Mets go against the Orioles, Cubs go against the Twins, Mets
- 24:03go against the Orioles. So it looks like it's a double
- 24:07header Marlin against the Reds and then the Marine the, the,
- 24:11the Mariners against the Yankees.
- 24:14So MLB games underway today. Also catching eyes.
- 24:21Novak Djokovic, I can't pronounce his name.
- 24:26Sorry about that. He has reached the Wimbledon
- 24:29semifinals and Red Bull recently dismissed F1 team principal
- 24:37Christian Horner. So those are just some of the
- 24:41the you know, the news updates that's going on and we are going
- 24:47to we're going to, we're going to let me download this little
- 24:52video thing or whatever so that we can play it.
- 24:56Now before we go into this video when we play it, Amber, how
- 25:00about you kind of explain what what you guys have been doing
- 25:07for the last couple of months and how did this come to play
- 25:13before we play this video? Yeah, so I fell into discussing
- 25:19the Gypsy Rose Blanchard case only because my cousin was
- 25:22incarcerated with her. My cousin is still incarcerated
- 25:26for 25 years for drug charges. And so initially we started, my
- 25:33cousin and I started praying for Gypsy because we thought all of
- 25:38the stuff that had come out about her being medically abused
- 25:40was real. And come to find out she's she's
- 25:47literally sick. She was born with a
- 25:49microdeletion and that's the reason why she had all the
- 25:52surgeries and it took up until 2011 for her to be a diagnosed
- 25:58with this microdeletion. So anyways, I started collecting
- 26:07FOIA requests because I am a history nerd and I I ended up
- 26:13actually. For the typical person that has
- 26:15no idea what the FOIA request is, is basically a police
- 26:19record. Yeah, Freedom of Information
- 26:21Act, So any public records. And then if you go to the DOC,
- 26:26it's called the Sunshine Law. So the Department of
- 26:30Corrections. So depending on what agency
- 26:33you're you're dealing with, it's either the Freedom of
- 26:36Information Act or the Sunshine Law.
- 26:38And in some states, I think New York, it's called FOIL, Freedom
- 26:42of Information law or something like that.
- 26:47So anyways, I started collecting all of this stuff for history
- 26:50purposes because I wanted to actually put together something
- 26:54for the Historical Society for the state of Missouri.
- 27:00So I started collecting all these and I sent them out to a
- 27:05bunch of people and then I eventually created a Google
- 27:08Drive. So if you go to my my channel
- 27:14Into the Weeds podcast and you go to my community tab, there's
- 27:18a whole Google Drive with all of the documents from Gypsy Rose
- 27:22Blanchard case, her DOC file, Nicholas, go to John's DOC file,
- 27:29bunch of stuff. So a woman in Britain actually
- 27:35did her own FOIA request wanting the emails and the phone records
- 27:41for Gypsy while she was incarcerated.
- 27:45So she sent the foyer request in about seven months ago, and
- 27:50they're supposed to get back to you in a timely manner, 30 days,
- 27:55I think. I can't.
- 27:56Don't quote me on on the specifics of the time frame, but
- 28:00they didn't adhere to the time frame.
- 28:04So she started asking questions here in Missouri and she ended
- 28:09up going all the way to Andrew Bailey, who is the attorney
- 28:13general here in Missouri, to get Gypsy's emails released and she
- 28:23sent them over to me to go over. OK.
- 28:27So Alora and I and our friend 1980 millennial commentates, go
- 28:32check her out on YouTube. She we have been going through
- 28:37all of Gypsy's emails from prison the last few days.
- 28:42So there's a lot of Nuggets coming out.
- 28:45But what happened is, is somebody who is a Gypsy Rose
- 28:50supporter got really upset. And while I was live one day,
- 28:55they started spamming the chat saying that I was being sued and
- 28:59that the DOC was going to call me.
- 29:02And I was in big trouble. And the man that I'm dealing
- 29:05with with the DOC had already got his own attorney and
- 29:08everything. He's a public servant.
- 29:13He can't sue me. These are all public records.
- 29:18Gypsy was a warden, a ward of the state when she was
- 29:22incarcerated. So everything she did is public
- 29:25record. So that's that's where this
- 29:29comes from. People are trying to sue me or
- 29:32saying that people are trying to sue me because I'm going over
- 29:36this information. And Charles with his last name
- 29:42is very, very equal to Amber's. I don't know why, but by no
- 29:47means is information free, unfortunately.
- 29:51And that's, that's, that's, that's the honest God truth too.
- 29:56That's the honest God truth. You know, I always say that if
- 30:00it's free, it's a headache. And if you, if you have to pay
- 30:05for it, then it, it's not as much as a headache.
- 30:08Just something to think about, you know, especially when you're
- 30:11going through programs and stuff.
- 30:13But ladies and gentlemen, now that she's explained it, it is
- 30:16that time. It is the what the segment.
- 30:19They're cool tats man. For real thank you bro you.
- 30:22See the cobra And what is this 10?
- 30:24This. That's my credo.
- 30:27No regrets. You have no regrets, Dad.
- 30:31No. Like, not even a single letter.
- 30:33No way. Not me.
- 30:35I love him. I think he's great.
- 30:38I think he's a real winner. Casey, if I were you, I wouldn't
- 30:40use protection. All right in here is the video.
- 30:55Don't see I I don't see any like volume or anything.
- 31:00So whatever I saved it didn't work.
- 31:03Oh yeah, OK, go ahead. That's not.
- 31:09That's not the one. Oh well, shit, OK.
- 31:15No, you're fine. It's fine.
- 31:17So all the video says is it's, it's a screenshot of my chat the
- 31:24other day when people were threatening me to that I was
- 31:27being sued. So, oh, OK, All right.
- 31:32Well, that so it's not really a video, it's just a kind of a
- 31:39screenshot. Yeah, I just, you asked me to
- 31:43find a drop the mic segment and I'm like, well, I mean, I no,
- 31:52no, no, you're you're right. But I've spent months compiling
- 31:54a full archive of emails, prison records, disciplinary reports,
- 32:00I've got it all in a Google Drive.
- 32:03And I've adhered to the the Sunshine Law and the Freedom of
- 32:10Information Act. So that was just my way of
- 32:13saying, you know, you guys are trying to intimidate me, but I,
- 32:19I, I'm already covered. I know what I'm doing.
- 32:22They were. Trying to.
- 32:24They were trying to get me to quit talking about Gypsy, and I
- 32:27don't really talk about Gypsy. I only present information.
- 32:32Have you see you you really need to have Gypsy Rose on your show
- 32:39one time talk about, you know all this to see what what's on
- 32:43her mind. But of all people, she hasn't
- 32:47even reached out to you yet. No, no, I have never been
- 32:50reached out by any of her people.
- 32:54So, you know, I, I'm just bringing the facts out and
- 32:59people run with it, you know, So I don't know, I don't think she
- 33:05would ever want to come on and I don't really feel comfortable
- 33:09asking her to come on because I've already released so much
- 33:12information about her. Yeah, it would be kind of an
- 33:14awkward situation. Yeah, yeah.
- 33:17No, that, that, that, that makes total sense.
- 33:20That makes total sense. Just so everybody knows, not
- 33:25really a great segue, but you know, the weather here in
- 33:29Denver, Co, it's today it's 92°. It's it's hot here in Colorado.
- 33:37Hot hot tub today it's 92, Friday it's 88, Saturday it's
- 33:4283. You know, the lowest that we're
- 33:45getting to and it's not even that low is 65°.
- 33:50So it's, it's pretty warm here in Colorado.
- 33:55Also some crisis updates, Middle East conflict, in addition to
- 34:01the Gaza situation, there are growing tensions amid Israel,
- 34:07Palestina and the violence. And, you know, I've, I've, I've,
- 34:12I've, I've seen two or three countries nominate Trump for
- 34:17peacekeeping and, or for a Nobel Prize.
- 34:20And it's like, what, you, you haven't done anything.
- 34:24Yeah. I mean fighting, you know,
- 34:27they're still fighting. And, and we're rounding up and
- 34:30we're rounding up people that are U.S. citizens.
- 34:34Yeah, you know, I mean, the, the, no matter how you feel
- 34:41about it, it just it, it, it, it's the current situation that
- 34:46there's a lot of people describing ICE as like, you
- 34:50know, the whole Nazi thing that happened in Germany with the
- 34:53Jews and stuff. Yeah.
- 34:56I, I, I think that it's a little, you know, it's a little
- 35:00far fetched, but I can also understand where they're coming
- 35:04from you. Know well, I mean, if anything
- 35:07it might be similar to the the internment camps that we had for
- 35:11the Japanese here during World War 2.
- 35:14Yeah. And, you know, they they were
- 35:17talking to Trump yesterday about, you know, all these
- 35:23things that are that are going on.
- 35:26You know, and of course, this administration has had a lot of
- 35:29wins and has had a lot of losers.
- 35:31And, you know, I've never seen like Trump supporters have
- 35:38really took a step back after they were asking about the
- 35:44Epstein's list. And, you know, they, they, they,
- 35:48we've heard about it through the whole campaign.
- 35:51Hey, when I become president, I'm going to I'm going to
- 35:54release this and I'm going to release that, and I'm going to
- 35:56release this. And now, and now Trump even said
- 36:00himself yesterday, he's like, I don't know why we're still
- 36:03talking about, well, we're still talking about it because there's
- 36:06still people upset. Just because it's not a high
- 36:09priority on your list doesn't mean that it's not a high
- 36:12priority priority on other people's list.
- 36:16And that's the thing. It doesn't matter what you think
- 36:19as a president on your, you know, your priorities, OK?
- 36:24It matters what other people think.
- 36:27And you know, this, this isn't going away.
- 36:30There's a lot of people outraged.
- 36:32And I find that people that have kids are way more outraged than
- 36:38people that don't have kids. And I mean, that's just the
- 36:42truth of the matter. Because like, I wasn't I, you
- 36:45know, I, I didn't care until a, a certain point.
- 36:50And then, you know, my, my best friend has a, a daughter that,
- 36:57you know, every time she does anything, I, I, I sponsor her.
- 37:00But if, if something ever happened to Taylor, I, I, I
- 37:04would go to jail. Let me tell you because you
- 37:08know, these kids, they deserve, they deserve a, a good child's
- 37:14life and they don't need any adults taking that from them.
- 37:19And that's, that's where that's where we're at today.
- 37:23And it's not going to go away. And there's a lot of people that
- 37:26supported Trump and they're, they're kind of backpedaling now
- 37:30because of this whole Epstein list.
- 37:33You know, like if you're going to, if you're going to release
- 37:37the JFK files or the MLK files, you need to, you need to release
- 37:43a step even even. And this is a strong statement,
- 37:47even if you're implicated in any of that, because that is what
- 37:53you, that's what you probably, I don't care if I don't care if
- 37:56big names are on it or not. You promised it.
- 38:01You said you was going to do it. Now you need to make it on.
- 38:04But The thing is, I don't think he's going to do it because you
- 38:07know, the one thing Trump has already said that he's he's not
- 38:11going to run again. Even though his supporters want
- 38:13him to run till 2028, He's not going to run again.
- 38:18There are ways loopholes that he could run again.
- 38:23So don't say, well, he can't run again because it was an
- 38:26unconstitutional. You know, one thing that I found
- 38:30out, especially during the Biden administration, if, if they can
- 38:36be done and it can help you, they'll find a way.
- 38:43Remember, Kamala Harris is never nominated.
- 38:46She was placed in in that role. So just keep everybody snow.
- 38:52And I don't want to get too political, but that's just the
- 38:56that's just the honest to God truth.
- 38:59Go ahead. No, I was just going to say I'm
- 39:01pretty much in the middle. I don't, I mean, I would
- 39:05probably gravitate more towards the Republican side, but I've
- 39:09just gotten to the point now and at my age that I just, there's
- 39:14so much crap going on on both sides that.
- 39:17Yeah, there's no difference between Republican and Democrat.
- 39:20They're all they're all crusty. They all don't Grippy socks.
- 39:26All right, Global extremists. The International Crisis Group
- 39:31reports the that ow Shabab is reclaiming towns in Somalia and
- 39:39complicating the region's stability.
- 39:43You know, I don't know what to believe anymore when it comes to
- 39:47the overseas stuff. You know, 'cause when you think,
- 39:51oh, we, we got to take care of something happens.
- 39:56It's, it's never taken care of. And I, I honestly think that
- 40:00we're never going to be free from a war.
- 40:03We're never going to be free from a war because politicians
- 40:07have figured out a way to make it routinely to where they're
- 40:11giving money somewhere. And that's the reason why
- 40:15they're just going to keep on going.
- 40:17So did. You see the TikTok I sent you of
- 40:20the Taliban inviting US over to Afghanistan?
- 40:28To like live and stuff. Yeah, it's like from the Daily
- 40:31Mail, the the Taliban did a whole like, Oh my gosh, that was
- 40:37crazy. Yes.
- 40:41Well, you know, they're doing, they're, they're they, they're
- 40:43doing that in Ireland too. Like right now in Ireland,
- 40:46there's a Pacific town that they're telling Americans, hey,
- 40:50if you move here, you know, we, we guarantee you $48,000 a year,
- 40:57we're going to pay you to, to, to, to move here.
- 41:02Now in a small print, you have to have a skill like you have to
- 41:07be a plumber or you have to be an embroidery or you have to be
- 41:11an electrician or even like you know, a person that you know
- 41:18fixes roofs and stuff. You have to have some kind of a
- 41:22skill. Somebody who's going to be an
- 41:24asset to the community. Exactly, exactly and and.
- 41:27You know, anywhere you go, you're going to have to be an
- 41:30asset to the community. If there's an apocalypse, you,
- 41:34you, they have to be some kind of an asset to, you know, I need
- 41:38to learn a skill because I don't think that Internet is going to
- 41:42get me anywhere. But you know, I, I tell you one
- 41:48thing that I am pretty proud of that we accomplished Friday was
- 41:55the first time ever in MBR history.
- 41:59We did an off grid remote. We had our own Internet, we had
- 42:04our own power. And you know, to some that might
- 42:09not be a feat. But let me tell you, that's
- 42:12hard. That is very hard to do and you
- 42:15have to you have to be very exact.
- 42:18You, you, you have to know how many, you have to know how many
- 42:24gigabytes each piece of equipment is pulling.
- 42:29You have to know how much wattage, you know, like the
- 42:33generator and stuff is going to take.
- 42:35So I mean, I had to do some math on that.
- 42:40Let me tell you, but it, it, it came out good.
- 42:44Just so everybody knows, at the top of the hour, because we're
- 42:48almost there at the top of the hour, we're supposed to have War
- 42:53Dog on as a interview. He's coming back to MBR.
- 42:58He's originally from the DV radio station.
- 43:04He has a show called War Dog. And, you know, he, he talks
- 43:09about like the hunting and the fishing and he, he introduces
- 43:17hunting nonprofits for veterans, especially for veterans that
- 43:22really, you know, like the hunting and the gun scene and
- 43:26stuff. He's like, really into that.
- 43:28So we're going to have him on and he's going to talk about,
- 43:32you know, his future projects coming up.
- 43:35He's also going to talk about some of the, some of the
- 43:38struggles that he went through. You know, everybody knows,
- 43:43everybody goes through something every single day.
- 43:46But what everybody doesn't know, because you don't usually post
- 43:49it on Facebook, is, you know, his is I, I believe his
- 43:54father-in-law, you know, died or, you know, he, he was going
- 43:59through like a person in his family was going through a
- 44:02cancer scares. You know, cancer is a, a scary
- 44:06time, especially right now, you know, because with all the, with
- 44:12all the possible remedies out there and how much it costs and
- 44:16with the way the economy is going, with the way that the,
- 44:22you know, United Healthcare and stuff's going, I mean, health
- 44:28Healthcare is not getting easier.
- 44:30It's just getting, it's just getting a lot harder.
- 44:34Yeah, I just, I met a man through my next door neighbor
- 44:38who's going through cancer treatment and because of the
- 44:41switch up in United Healthcare, his treatment is being switched
- 44:46to another facility and he's really worried about it.
- 44:50So that happens a lot to people. And I mean, and today I found
- 44:57out that there's a lot of stores, a lot of places that are
- 45:02closing, you know, Kroger's is closing 60 locations.
- 45:08I mean, you know, there's just I'll, I'll, I'll bring up, I'll
- 45:13bring up that a little bit later.
- 45:15All the like, the numbers and stuff.
- 45:17I'll get it from ChatGPT. Local Denver news.
- 45:21Just so you now know, through the weekend, Colorado Black
- 45:25Artist Festival, the City Park. It is July 11th of July 13th,
- 45:31celebration of African American culture, food, music, art and a
- 45:36parade. Also a Cirque de Sala echo.
- 45:42Yeah, I can't pronounce that. It has to be Spanish.
- 45:45It is at the Pepsi Center. Yeah, maybe that's it.
- 45:52Amy Swanson. I was way off, you know, I I
- 45:57don't know. Here, I'll, I'll, I'll put it
- 45:59through the chat so that Amber can be my decoder because she's
- 46:03pretty good at that. I don't know how to pronounce
- 46:05that shit. All right, So, yeah.
- 46:09OK. What she said.
- 46:11All right, so that's going on. Family event series this
- 46:15weekend. Colorado Burskyo Festival
- 46:21Ofelia's Electric Soapbox July 10th to 12th features drag and
- 46:27aerial performance and variety acts.
- 46:32There's AI Saw this today, this isn't really news and there's
- 46:39people flipping out about this and you know, this would be kind
- 46:43of my like my drop the mic without putting the whole logo
- 46:47thing in. So a veteran spotlight, a
- 46:50notable veteran story is making the headlines.
- 46:53Green Beret influencer Tim Kennedy has publicly admitted to
- 46:57exaggerating his combat record, mistaking the non valor
- 47:02commendation for Bronze Star with valor.
- 47:04His apology has sparked broader conversations about integrity
- 47:09and veteran representatives and the pressure of social media
- 47:12cred. You know, all I'm going to say
- 47:14about that is, look, you know, what if everybody put as much
- 47:19effort into this, trying to catch people and freaking lies
- 47:24and help veterans get their resources, get their, you know,
- 47:31stuff done, you know, help them navigation, this world would be
- 47:38in a lot better place. You know, I had a conversation
- 47:42with somebody, I'm not going to mention their name, but I had a
- 47:45conversation a couple of days ago and, you know, he was
- 47:51talking about how I, I, I blocked him and how we totally
- 47:58disregarded him from like the chat forum.
- 48:02And I told him I'm like, OK, well, let me ask you this.
- 48:06Why did you, why, why did you make it public?
- 48:09Why, why did you go in the chat for him and like call somebody
- 48:13out? Well, because I'm about who the
- 48:16hell makes you the judge? Who the hell gives you that,
- 48:21that that power to sit there and ruffle up somebody's feathers?
- 48:28You won't want somebody to ruffle up your feathers.
- 48:31And before you go and say, well, I didn't do that bullshit.
- 48:35Everybody in this world has done something.
- 48:38They have skeletons in the closet.
- 48:40Just because you didn't get, just because you didn't get
- 48:45caught, doesn't mean that it's not there.
- 48:48You know, if you have a problem with somebody, you, you reach
- 48:53out them directly and individually and you talk to
- 48:57them and you make it right. You know, as soon as you make it
- 49:02public, you've lost my support. I don't give a shit about you no
- 49:06more. I don't I don't because you
- 49:10aren't wanting to fix it. You're wanting attention and I
- 49:14don't want to help anybody that wants attention.
- 49:17You know, so I, I, I don't like that.
- 49:20So before you go and and rat somebody out or before you go
- 49:26and make it public, just know that whenever you're pointing at
- 49:30somebody, there's always three fingers pointing back at you.
- 49:34And that is my dropping the mic. And we are way past the time to
- 49:41go on break and we're going to go on break.
- 49:44And then when we come back, hope.
- 49:47Oh, also, two announcements real quick.
- 49:51OK, we got time. 2 announcements #1 our own Tracer is graduating
- 49:58college. She left for New York.
- 50:00She's getting her, I think, her master's degree.
- 50:03Congratulations. Congratulations.
- 50:05OK, Also, we had an interview with a young lady about a week
- 50:11ago. Amber, if you remember Emily
- 50:14Myers, guess what? She just got nominated for a
- 50:18Josie Award. Imagine that.
- 50:21That's awesome. With that being said, we're
- 50:23going to play one of her songs. And when we come back, you know,
- 50:29hopefully, hopefully we'll we'll be on the horn with War Dog and
- 50:35we won't be, you know, scraping for for content.
- 50:40So whatever you do, stay with us.
- 50:42Don't go away. You are listening to the show,
- 50:45the highlight all the non profit programs out there beyond the
- 50:49VA. You're listening to the H screen
- 50:51show here on MBR and we're getting ready to watch Lost by
- 50:57another Josie nominator, Emily Myers and Joe Lawson.
- 55:23The station where our veterans voices are heard MBR talk.
- 55:26Hey, thanks. For tuning.
- 55:31In Welcome Back are those of the speakers and do not necessarily
- 55:35reflect the views or positions of any entities they represent.
- 55:40The web at MB radio dot. We are back, ladies and
- 55:45gentlemen. You're listening to the show
- 55:47that highlights all the non private programs out there
- 55:50beyond the VA. You're listening to the H train
- 55:53show. MJ is away until July 21st and
- 55:59Amber is sitting in her spot. We, we really appreciate that.
- 56:04Ladies and gentlemen welcome it. We, we have our interview of the
- 56:10weekend and before we bring him up, this guy really doesn't need
- 56:15an introduction that this guy has done so much for other
- 56:20veterans. Not only does he run a show
- 56:24called War Dog, he he brings these nonprofits to the
- 56:31forefront for veterans so that they can contribute and use
- 56:37hunting and fishing as a way of rehabilitation.
- 56:42He has been gone for a while. He took about, I would say at
- 56:47least a two year thing. And he wrote me and he's like,
- 56:50hey man, I'm ready to come back. And I'm like, hell yeah, I'm
- 56:55super excited. Ladies and gentlemen, today's
- 56:58Interview of the Week and DV Radio's very own War Dog.
- 57:08The interview of the week is brought to you by Jersey Mike's,
- 57:13a sub above. Ladies and gentlemen, War Dog.
- 57:19War Dog is so good to see you man.
- 57:22Look at that smile, all all happy and stuff.
- 57:25How are you? Doing all right.
- 57:28Hi, I'm, I'm, I'm happy to see you.
- 57:31Happy to see both of you be on the show.
- 57:34I got to admit though, I don't feel like I've helped any
- 57:38veteran yet. No, that's that's.
- 57:41That's, that's normal though. We, you know, we, we always feel
- 57:46that we don't make an impact because unfortunately there's a
- 57:49lot more people that gripe than there are people that give
- 57:53gratitude. And I know, I know for sure that
- 57:58you helped a lot of veterans. You know, you even when you guys
- 58:03are on barracks talk, you know, you, you, you key in and you let
- 58:08everybody know, you know, hey, it's OK to ask for help.
- 58:12You know, you, you, you, you, you, you talk about, you know,
- 58:18the things that you're going through so that veterans can
- 58:23relate to it, you know, and you know, you got some projects
- 58:29coming up and we want to hear about it, too.
- 58:34All right. I want to be honest.
- 58:36It's just like you said, I was down for about 10 months, man.
- 58:41And you know, as veterans, I'm pretty sure they can all relate.
- 58:46You know, with us we can be down 2 hours, 10 hours, 2 weeks, 10
- 58:53weeks, two months, 10 months, two years, 10 years.
- 58:59I've now I've done though I've been down for 10 years before I,
- 59:05I felt I didn't fit into society.
- 59:07I was having a road rage. I wasn't getting in along with
- 59:10civilians. So I kind of removed myself to
- 59:13my man cave and I was like a part of my therapy.
- 59:16But yeah, these last 10 months, I don't know, I just like every
- 59:21other veteran, I lost the will to do a lot of things.
- 59:23So it wasn't until recently, though, one of my battle
- 59:29buddies, the Marine, got into some trouble and we needed to
- 59:33spread the word to try to help him and get him some legal
- 59:36defense. So, you know, the guys kind of
- 59:40rallied me and got me out of my sleep and slumber and trying to
- 59:46get things back rolling, you know?
- 59:48Isn't that? Funny how it seems that we can
- 59:55help other people a lot faster and a lot easier than it is that
- 1:00:00we can help ourselves. A. 100.
- 1:00:03Percent. You know, like if somebody told
- 1:00:06me that they needed $1000 tomorrow, like I can totally
- 1:00:10help them raise it a lot more successful than I can raise
- 1:00:14$1000 for my own nonprofit. You know.
- 1:00:18I don't know why that is, but that that's what it seems.
- 1:00:21But you know, the, like the, the struggles that you went through,
- 1:00:26you know, because you was telling me that, you know, it
- 1:00:29has cancer in your family that you was dealing with, you was
- 1:00:33dealing with some deaths, dude. Like it hasn't been two weeks
- 1:00:39yet. I my, my, I had to put my
- 1:00:42service dog down, you know, and yeah, and everybody's like,
- 1:00:47well, you know, you should get another service.
- 1:00:49No, I'm not going to get another service dog because if I get
- 1:00:51another service dog, I'm going to, you know, just like that
- 1:00:54girlfriend, ex-girlfriend thing. No matter what, you're going to
- 1:00:57sit there and you're going to compare them.
- 1:01:00And I, I don't, I don't think that's fair to the other dog.
- 1:01:04But one thing that my service dog did teach me, and this is
- 1:01:10this, this, this goes for everybody.
- 1:01:13It's the impact that you have in life is the way you make other
- 1:01:18people feel about themselves. And one thing that my service
- 1:01:23dog taught me is no matter who it was, whenever I sit there,
- 1:01:28who is that? Who is that?
- 1:01:29She would run right to them, you know, and oh, it was good, you
- 1:01:34know, and he didn't do that, you know, he would always be
- 1:01:37excited. He was always, you know, you saw
- 1:01:40the smile on his, you know, the grin.
- 1:01:44I mean, he was, he was a happy service dog and he taught me
- 1:01:51that's how you need to embrace everybody.
- 1:01:55Because whenever, whenever you're not with somebody for
- 1:02:01long periods of time and then you kind of, you know, reconvene
- 1:02:06that that relationship in your back, no matter what, it's, it's
- 1:02:10somewhat awkward. It really is.
- 1:02:14And COVID really didn't help with that.
- 1:02:18So my service dog, that's one thing that he, he really helped.
- 1:02:23He was a buffer. He really broke that zone.
- 1:02:26And I'm still struggling with that.
- 1:02:29I'm still dealing with that. I'm still dealing.
- 1:02:32Oh now now Amber brings out the dog.
- 1:02:36Make me jealous and stuff. Sorry, he jumped in my lap.
- 1:02:44So we're going tell us about your, your upcoming projects
- 1:02:49that you that you've got going on.
- 1:02:52You're still living in Florida and I'm sure that you guys are
- 1:02:56still cleaning up the aftermath, 'cause you know, once a
- 1:02:59hurricane happens, I mean things, things don't go back to
- 1:03:04normal. Things change.
- 1:03:05It's a new norm for everybody. Exactly, Exactly.
- 1:03:11But I have to be honest, man, we weren't in my area.
- 1:03:14I'm about half hour West of Orlando.
- 1:03:17We weren't affected anywhere near as as bad as other parts of
- 1:03:22the state. So our recovery has been, you
- 1:03:25know, minimum, minimum. Well, that's good.
- 1:03:30Can I add one thing real quick? Yeah, when I said, well, it's
- 1:03:34two, it's twofold. I'm the kind of guy who feels
- 1:03:37like everyone else's story is probably is probably much worse
- 1:03:42than mine. What other people go through is
- 1:03:46probably much worse than I've been through.
- 1:03:49And that's just the way you know, I don't know that's the
- 1:03:51way my head is. But what you went through with
- 1:03:53losing your service, though, bro, I'm a known child, right?
- 1:03:59And you know, I, I don't, you know, I'm not used to the
- 1:04:02brothers sisters. So, you know, getting to the
- 1:04:05military, I wasn't used to brothers or sisters or ever
- 1:04:09having a lease on. So I have a tendency to cling,
- 1:04:13cling to a service dog, cling to fellow veterans as brothers, as
- 1:04:19sisters, but I don't handle so much so well as when I cling to
- 1:04:27people or things and then they have to leave, disappear, be
- 1:04:33gone for whatever circumstance. I just want you to know I can't
- 1:04:43put words to how much your relationship and closeness was
- 1:04:48with your service thought no one really understand that except
- 1:04:51you and your service thought. No, I understand totally about
- 1:04:57you clinging to that for love, therapy, friendship, everything.
- 1:05:01Man, I just want to let you know I apologize and I'm sorry you're
- 1:05:07going through that. And I'm pretty sure you know
- 1:05:11your service dog helped you along the way like you said.
- 1:05:14So salute. Yeah, he, he definitely did.
- 1:05:17You know, with, with other dogs, he was kind of a bully.
- 1:05:22And it's. Called that I saw that even more
- 1:05:26as he was getting older because, you know it doesn't matter if it
- 1:05:29was daylight savings time when when that clock hit 7:00 you
- 1:05:34know used to he used to like grab the covers and and, and
- 1:05:38pull them off of me and you know it's really time you know and
- 1:05:42this time like he had this he had this natural ability to like
- 1:05:49right in my nuts so. I'm.
- 1:05:53Going, you know, that's how he would wake me up so.
- 1:05:58Yeah. He had that natural ability.
- 1:06:02I'm like, dude, what the hell, you know?
- 1:06:08But everybody, everybody goes through that, you know, and just
- 1:06:15just because a service dog is there to, you know, help, you
- 1:06:20know, work for you and stuff, you don't truly appreciate what
- 1:06:26they taught you until they're gone, until after they're gone.
- 1:06:30And unfortunately, that's the that's a bad thing in society is
- 1:06:36I honestly think that you're more popular when you're dead
- 1:06:42compared to when you're alive. Like people, people cherish your
- 1:06:48memory or they talk about you more when you're dead compared
- 1:06:52to, oh, look at all this stuff, you know, they're doing and
- 1:06:56stuff like that. I mean, you know, he hasn't died
- 1:06:59yet, but he's getting ready to like Ozzy Osbourne, you know,
- 1:07:04like that really put everybody on notice.
- 1:07:10Like this, this Prince of darkness, this, this man of
- 1:07:13great talents, this, this legend, like he's is, is, is
- 1:07:18going, you know, people that we did stuff with events,
- 1:07:25nonprofits, businesses, you know, things change, people
- 1:07:31leave. And you know, when you was
- 1:07:34talking about like, you know, closest with people and then,
- 1:07:39you know, suddenly, you know, there's like no closure and they
- 1:07:43they walk away because of either something that they're dealing
- 1:07:47with in their life or, you know, something that happened between
- 1:07:52you and them. You know, that, that that
- 1:07:55closure, it really bothers people.
- 1:07:59They say that it doesn't, you know, people say, Oh, it doesn't
- 1:08:03matter. I don't care what people think,
- 1:08:05but you do, you do. And we, we, we need to, we
- 1:08:11really need to realize that I, I think sometimes we tend to bring
- 1:08:18up stuff or say things and, you know, we've, we've, we've never
- 1:08:24been in their shoes before. For example, like for the
- 1:08:28longest time, I, I had this ultimate rule in my life that I
- 1:08:33would never bail anybody out of jail.
- 1:08:36Well, never say never because it's happened before.
- 1:08:39You know, that possession until you're in that position, don't
- 1:08:43say never. It happens, let me tell you.
- 1:08:49But you know, I, I, I saw, I think it was a past video.
- 1:08:53I don't think it was recent. I saw a past video that just
- 1:08:57reminded me of your, your, your continuous effort, your, your,
- 1:09:04your will to fight to help others.
- 1:09:08I saw you, you know, going into Creek bed, you know, grabbing
- 1:09:12mud and putting it all over your face.
- 1:09:15I mean, that's what I'm talking about.
- 1:09:17War dog. Like he, he, he does a lot of,
- 1:09:21he does a lot of things and you know it, it's, it's incredible.
- 1:09:27It's incredible what you have done.
- 1:09:29And you know, believe it or not, even though you took the time
- 1:09:32off, aren't you, you know, you've, you've made a huge
- 1:09:38impact on DV radio. You and Bo have both made a huge
- 1:09:44impact on on DV radio. You know, for, for DV radio is
- 1:09:49now like 20 years old. You know, it's, it's about as
- 1:09:52old as MBR And you know, those that legacy doesn't die, that
- 1:09:57continues and it continues to help veterans.
- 1:10:02You know, unfortunately people always they, they, you know,
- 1:10:11they, they, they always see the, the good.
- 1:10:14They never see the bad. I've, I, I know that you and Bo
- 1:10:19and DV radio. I know that you guys have, you
- 1:10:23know, seen your history in the past, But what's important is
- 1:10:28you guys resilience. It, it, it keeps driving.
- 1:10:32And that's one of the reasons why MBR is successful is because
- 1:10:36DV Radio is a yeah, he's sponsor for us, you know, and whenever
- 1:10:41I, whenever I have a bad day or, or someone's judging me upon
- 1:10:47skeletons in the closet, you know, I always reach out to you
- 1:10:52or Beau, you know, to feel a little bit better because people
- 1:10:55have to understand that people have feelings and hold on.
- 1:10:59Hold on, hold on. Yeah, No, no shit.
- 1:11:05You remember I've been in the psych ward five Times Now.
- 1:11:08So. Right.
- 1:11:10Just say that again. You look to me for and.
- 1:11:13You look to me for what? I look, hey, I look to you and
- 1:11:17bone resilience, you know, because you're yeah, dude,
- 1:11:20you're still here. What else?
- 1:11:21What people don't understand is you take your shittiest days,
- 1:11:26you take the, the, the hardest tribulations that you've been
- 1:11:31through. And guess what?
- 1:11:32We have survived. We're still here.
- 1:11:35We are still here out of deaths, out of breakups, out of
- 1:11:40divorces. Everybody has a divorce, you
- 1:11:43know, especially if you got duty. 2:14 We call it a beginner
- 1:11:47marriage, you know. I don't have one.
- 1:11:51Yes, hey, don't even. But I don't want you.
- 1:12:00Go ahead. I was wanting to know War Dog.
- 1:12:03So Joel was talking about how you do hunting and fishing and
- 1:12:07everything and you live in Florida.
- 1:12:09What is that like? Because I know I've been hunting
- 1:12:12in Florida and it sucks. OK.
- 1:12:18I try to view every single thing from like this infantry grunt
- 1:12:22perspective, right? OK.
- 1:12:24And when I do, it's like I feel like every single place in the
- 1:12:30world, no matter what the terrain and from what we've seen
- 1:12:34in history, everywhere can be a a war zone, a battle zone fight.
- 1:12:40I look at, you know, well, you know, from history, fight can
- 1:12:43happen at this bridge, that river.
- 1:12:46So I don't know, everywhere I look at in the world, I wonder
- 1:12:50as the grunt, like, can I walk there on foot with a backpack in
- 1:12:54the rifle? So hunting for me in Florida.
- 1:13:00Yeah, the situations are what they are in terms of the
- 1:13:03terrain. But in my mind I still look at
- 1:13:06it like, actually man, in reality war still could happen
- 1:13:12in this type of terrain. So.
- 1:13:16I need to get out there and I'm sorry.
- 1:13:18The species I hunt most though, I'm a predator hunter.
- 1:13:23The same way they like to go into, you know, use their, I
- 1:13:28don't know, bulliness, aggressiveness to harm other
- 1:13:32species, to damage the farm, damage crops.
- 1:13:36I love to go after wild hogs. Oh my God.
- 1:13:41In Florida they're considered a nuisance.
- 1:13:43It is one of the few legal times since the war where I can use
- 1:13:49thermal imaging and night vision on a legal target.
- 1:13:54So I feel anyone that resonates with that feeling where you know
- 1:14:00you have that skill set, but you haven't been able to use it in
- 1:14:04any way. If you hunt, especially hunt at
- 1:14:08night, especially hunt a species as hated as wild hogs are in the
- 1:14:14South, oh man, it's free range. It's it's therapy on a different
- 1:14:20level. Yeah, with all those Palmetto
- 1:14:23bushes. Oh my goodness, I cannot stand
- 1:14:25those Palmetto bushes. With the ghillie suit you can
- 1:14:32blend right in. Now, war Dog, did you, did you
- 1:14:36get a chance to go to that, that that wild hog hunt that they do
- 1:14:41in Alabama that I sent you that information that one time?
- 1:14:46No, I'm sorry I didn't you know like every other veteran.
- 1:14:50Some days I deal with, you know, post war injuries got some metal
- 1:14:54in the body. So I'm sorry, but I did want to.
- 1:14:57I got excited. Don't get me hey, only a few
- 1:15:00things make me Bush and get me excited.
- 1:15:03One of them is you know, hunting other ones, you know, military
- 1:15:07and guns, but that makes me Bush.
- 1:15:10I won't let. OK, so now what is the what is
- 1:15:15the biggest creature that you get have have you ever killed an
- 1:15:19alligator or wrestled an alligator before?
- 1:15:23No, bro, But I do have the license to not be the driver,
- 1:15:29not be the boat driver while you're, you know, trying to
- 1:15:32harvest alligators. But I do have the license to be
- 1:15:35the shooter. Oh.
- 1:15:37Nice. That makes sense.
- 1:15:38Yeah. Nice.
- 1:15:39So I can't drive the boat, but as long as I can be the one to
- 1:15:44find that quarter spot behind the ears or excuse me, behind
- 1:15:47the eyes. Yeah.
- 1:15:49I'm allowed to be that guy. Awesome.
- 1:15:52I've always now now I say this as I always once I get put in
- 1:15:57that position, watch, I'll I'll be in a little chicken shit and
- 1:16:00walk away. But I've always, I've always
- 1:16:04wanted to like go and like hunt alligators.
- 1:16:07But then again, like, once I get in the water, that, that that'll
- 1:16:11probably change, you know, kind of like skydive.
- 1:16:13Oh yeah, yeah, we're gonna skydive.
- 1:16:16I didn't know it was far up, you know, kind of thing.
- 1:16:20So yeah, I just wondered if you ever haunted alligators because,
- 1:16:26you know, I don't know why, but alligators seem to be very
- 1:16:30popular here here lately, you know, people trying to hunt them
- 1:16:37and and stuff like that. You know I see tik toks of guys
- 1:16:41in the water penning them and like what the hell.
- 1:16:45We had six of them in our backyard when we lived in
- 1:16:48Florida one time. Oh.
- 1:16:51Wow. Oh wow, wait, can may I ask what
- 1:16:55city are we talking about? So that was Saint Cloud.
- 1:17:00Really. OK, the place where I off grid.
- 1:17:06Have you ever heard of Holo Paul?
- 1:17:07Right near Saint Cloud. No, I don't think so.
- 1:17:11Oh my gosh. OK.
- 1:17:13My husband might know about it. He's Charles Dietz in the
- 1:17:15comments. OK, maybe Charles knows.
- 1:17:19Charles just made one of the greatest comments I think I
- 1:17:23might have heard in my life, man, especially right now to, to
- 1:17:26clear my head and pick me up. But just past Saint Cloud, we,
- 1:17:31we have a land where I'm trying to rebuild what I call camp
- 1:17:36doghouse or not rebuild, build, have a couple parcels of land
- 1:17:40out there. That is where all my off grading
- 1:17:43takes place. So any video you ever saw begins
- 1:17:48and ends in Holopol. I've been through all those
- 1:17:52years of therapy like every other veteran, you know, whether
- 1:17:56it's the Vet Center, whether it's group therapy and visual
- 1:17:59therapy, you know, I've had things attached to my head for,
- 1:18:05you know, that biorhythm feedback.
- 1:18:07But the only thing that truly, truly seeped in 20 years was
- 1:18:16when I decided to go camping with a tent.
- 1:18:19And then I bought some Mr. ES from Amazon.
- 1:18:22I bought some concertina wire from Amazon.
- 1:18:27And I went out to Holopol, which is just past St.
- 1:18:29Cloud, FL. And I camped.
- 1:18:35And there was so much that I forgot about that I was good at.
- 1:18:39I forgot I knew how to put together a tent, forgot I knew
- 1:18:42how to string up that concertina wire around my perimeter, forgot
- 1:18:49how good it felt to have my, you know, my guns on me and be
- 1:18:53outdoors. But I got to admit, I was only
- 1:18:57used to and taught like tactical camping.
- 1:19:00You know what I'm saying? Like, that's the only
- 1:19:02environment I've ever been in. Being a city kid from Orlando
- 1:19:05was like when I was in it, we were under war circumstances.
- 1:19:08So light discipline, noise discipline, all of that.
- 1:19:11So I'm quiet as hell while I'm out there and out of nowhere
- 1:19:15someone with a four Wheeler rose by and they're banging Tupac
- 1:19:18talk with all things and I'm like.
- 1:19:22Oh. Wow, I did not know what's going
- 1:19:25on like this right here. Right.
- 1:19:27So then they hit me, man. Like, I got to open my eyes to
- 1:19:30actually have fun. Yeah.
- 1:19:33Why you camp? Like, like there's a whole
- 1:19:35lifestyle outside of war where you can do these things and have
- 1:19:39fun. Yeah.
- 1:19:42Yeah, Isn't that funny? Isn't it funny that, you know,
- 1:19:45in the military, they, they, they go over like 8 weeks
- 1:19:51depending on which branch of service you go, you go through
- 1:19:54eight weeks of, you know, zeroing in and shooting your
- 1:19:58M16, but they only give you a, a week to clear, go through like a
- 1:20:03cap and stuff. It's, it's, it's very funny.
- 1:20:07And you know, and you bring up a good point, you know, we're,
- 1:20:10we're taught how to camp, but we're not taught how to.
- 1:20:14To camp for fun. And I think that's the the
- 1:20:19biggest thing, like when somebody was like, hey, hey, you
- 1:20:22want to go camping? No, I'm good, I'm good.
- 1:20:25Bought the T-shirt, you know, and they're like keeping with
- 1:20:29me. OK, All right, You know, because
- 1:20:34I remember the first time me and my wife went camping, we're you
- 1:20:37know, we got the fire going, we got breakfast, you know, all
- 1:20:40that stuff, you know, it's like 11 and 12:00 and and it's like,
- 1:20:47OK, now what? Oh, I guess we just wait till
- 1:20:52lunch. So we're just sitting there
- 1:20:54camping and, and, and, and cooking, you know, I'm like, you
- 1:20:59want to go fishing? No, not really.
- 1:21:01Oh well, I'm glad that we went camping.
- 1:21:03You know, it's just like it is it?
- 1:21:11It's it's tough to go camping if you're not with somebody that
- 1:21:17knows how to make it fun exactly because.
- 1:21:22We're we're all stuck on tactical.
- 1:21:24Stuff, Man yeah, we are, we are dude, that is no joke.
- 1:21:31But you know, we, we talked about a little bit about, you
- 1:21:35know, the struggles and stuff that you went through and stuff.
- 1:21:38We, I'd like to know about your upcoming show.
- 1:21:42When have you have you decided when your debut day is and like
- 1:21:48do you have some upcoming things that is coming up for your show
- 1:21:52that you can kind of tease us with?
- 1:21:57Yeah, sure. But like I said, I mentioned
- 1:22:02mentioned that land just past Saint Cloud where we're trying
- 1:22:06to build a camp doghouse. Yes, I've had the land man for
- 1:22:11six years, but also have a family of four.
- 1:22:14So it's trying to build it so that I can eventually get the
- 1:22:18homeless, the RV's and all that. I want to take care of homeless
- 1:22:23vets. That's on the way.
- 1:22:25But the outdoors part I was much better at six years ago.
- 1:22:31Obviously younger, less injuries now though.
- 1:22:36I don't have an exact date but I'm ready to get back off grid.
- 1:22:40Bro. I have not been off grid to my
- 1:22:42property in three years, mostly because I haven't been able to
- 1:22:49acquire Tough Enough 4 Wheel Drive to Get Me Out there to,
- 1:22:56you know, do what I've done. And, you know, you saw the
- 1:22:58videos and whatnot. But yeah, as soon as I can get
- 1:23:02that back up, man, that's been the only thing that's held me
- 1:23:05back. That's the only reason I started
- 1:23:07podcasting, wrote the book, is because I couldn't get off grid,
- 1:23:12man. And I was still trying to, you
- 1:23:15know, do some things. But yeah, I'm trying to get back
- 1:23:19out there. In my, my opinion, there's this
- 1:23:24certain level of job satisfaction that everyone's
- 1:23:28allowed to feel, right. It's like, yeah, I did my job
- 1:23:31there. The boss, the owner, everyone
- 1:23:33said a good job. I feel like for those of us
- 1:23:36who've served in war, though, that feeling, I'm sorry, war,
- 1:23:40the military, period, that feeling of job satisfaction will
- 1:23:47never be there or the same as the way you felt it in the
- 1:23:51military, if that makes sense. It does.
- 1:23:55It does. You know, I, I've seen several
- 1:23:57Tik Toks with one guy talking about this week how you know,
- 1:24:02he's had a house for three years, you know, and three years
- 1:24:07is he makes his mortgage and everything.
- 1:24:10And he's like, but I don't feel it's my house.
- 1:24:14He's like, I don't know why, but I don't feel like it's my house.
- 1:24:16And you know, that's the thing about the military is in the
- 1:24:20military, they made you, they motivated and made you feel like
- 1:24:25it was never enough. You had to you just had to keep
- 1:24:29grabbing. You had to keep driving forward.
- 1:24:32You had to keep improving you, you know, and then when you get
- 1:24:37out in life, you know, unless, unless you're getting, you know,
- 1:24:42unless you're like on front page of a newspaper or unless you're
- 1:24:47on like a, a news story or people are making commotions
- 1:24:51about it, Like you don't really feel that you're making an
- 1:24:56impact on life. And I think that's because of
- 1:25:00how the military, you know, the military makes it, it it just
- 1:25:07you're never sufficient. You're never satisfied with what
- 1:25:13you have. And I think all veterans go
- 1:25:17through that. You know, like the biggest one
- 1:25:22with with veterans is, well, what's your percentage?
- 1:25:26It's almost like people compare their percentages with other
- 1:25:30veterans. And I'm going to tell you as a
- 1:25:33veteran, your percentage, the for the VA is nobody damn
- 1:25:37business. OK, You just when, when, when
- 1:25:40you, you ever do an event or whatever, all you need to tell
- 1:25:43them is, hey, you know what? I, I, I served my time.
- 1:25:48You know, I'm, I'm pretty broken, but I'm, I'm, I'm here
- 1:25:53for, you know, the possible healing for this event.
- 1:25:56You know, I don't know if you know War Dog, but this past this
- 1:26:01past week, this past weekend, we had the pleasure of sending 3
- 1:26:07veterans and three firefighters skydiving.
- 1:26:12And yeah, all right, man, that's what's up.
- 1:26:15Yeah. And congratulations.
- 1:26:17Thank. You and win it and when those 3
- 1:26:20vets and those 3 firefighters came down like they were they
- 1:26:25were exhilarated like they were ready for that next that next
- 1:26:30challenge and you know the the skydiving I mean, you know and
- 1:26:35there was one time we were talking about indoor skydiving
- 1:26:38and, and. Indoor.
- 1:26:41Yeah, there's an indoor skydiving and I said some
- 1:26:46Charles and he's like, well, it's fun, but it's not really as
- 1:26:49impactful as my life will not die, you know?
- 1:26:53Oh yeah, that's true. But it's it when you skydive,
- 1:27:01it's it makes you take all what? What's wrong in your life?
- 1:27:08And it, it puts it in a back seat and you're like, I can do
- 1:27:14this, I can do this. You know, I, I think one of the
- 1:27:18biggest things that veterans face today is why am I still
- 1:27:24alive? Why am I still alive?
- 1:27:28Since, you know, I have brothers and sisters that that didn't
- 1:27:32make it, you know, why, why the hell am I so special?
- 1:27:36You know, and I find that after like skydiving after, after you,
- 1:27:43you possibly almost take your life and you know, you got,
- 1:27:46you're kind of like reborn. You're like, God has something
- 1:27:52for me. He has a he has a purpose.
- 1:27:54And once you once you find that purpose and you work on that
- 1:28:03purpose, man, no, nothing can beat you.
- 1:28:07That's very true, right? On right.
- 1:28:11On, that's very true. But War Dog, it is that time.
- 1:28:16I mean, I tell you what, I enjoyed you being here, dude.
- 1:28:18I've missed you so much. And you know what?
- 1:28:23I do look up to you and Bo. I do look up to you and Bo
- 1:28:27because you guys have always been there for me whenever I
- 1:28:31felt down or felt like shit. You have always, always been
- 1:28:37there for me and I can't express enough.
- 1:28:39So you talk about you don't see an impact.
- 1:28:44You've made an impact on my life, believe it or not.
- 1:28:46Whether or not you you choose to believe that or not, you have.
- 1:28:51You and Bo have both made an impact.
- 1:28:54Remember when I came to DV radio before, before the cartoons came
- 1:28:59in, NB radio and all this other stuff, you guys have made a huge
- 1:29:04impact and I want you guys to know that.
- 1:29:07So with that being said, with that being said, it is that
- 1:29:11time. It's your time to shine.
- 1:29:14Today's Time to Shine is brought to you by Dunkin' Donuts
- 1:29:20veterans and 1st responders runs on Dunkin.
- 1:29:25This is your time. To shine.
- 1:29:34This is the first time I think that you've been on the program
- 1:29:37in a long time. So this is that time.
- 1:29:41Maybe I didn't ask you for that right question or set you up for
- 1:29:44that right answer. And there's something that you
- 1:29:47want to get off of your chest, something that you want other
- 1:29:51veterans to kind of think about, you know, and we talked a lot
- 1:29:54about stuff, how we feel and how other veterans feel.
- 1:29:59And it's my hope that after this program that at the very least
- 1:30:06they feel normal, feel normal. And that's the key of it.
- 1:30:11If you feel normal, it you, you, you don't feel bad.
- 1:30:15But you know, if you know, if you're like, you know, pissing
- 1:30:18out of your butt or something, that's not normal, you're
- 1:30:23you're. So with that being said,
- 1:30:25anything you want to talk about the next two minutes is your
- 1:30:29two-minute platform. And I really appreciate you
- 1:30:32coming on the show today. Right on AH train.
- 1:30:36You've always got the most amazing sense of humor for me,
- 1:30:40you know? Hey, this goes both ways.
- 1:30:43You've helped pick me up on days and maybe you didn't know rap
- 1:30:48and don't for any reason downplay MBR and its
- 1:30:54significance. Man, everything you set up is
- 1:30:59very very professional bro. I honestly felt like might not
- 1:31:03have met the requirements to. Meet such a.
- 1:31:06Professional outfit, but yeah, I just I'd like you know, any, any
- 1:31:12outlet you receive the the information from or yeah, just
- 1:31:16know there aren't you aren't alone.
- 1:31:19Obviously others feel it. Obviously I can't be a
- 1:31:22hypocrite. All right.
- 1:31:23As much as I say and have dealt with my own issues with things,
- 1:31:28I can't be a hypocrite. There could be a day 1020 years
- 1:31:32from now where I'm doing all this speaking now and for
- 1:31:36whatever reason I fail and end up checking out.
- 1:31:38So you know, I pray it never gets there for myself or for
- 1:31:43others. But as long as we keep getting
- 1:31:46the right help, resources and from what I find and feel is the
- 1:31:52outdoors is for some people, man, outdoors opens up something
- 1:31:56that a lot of doctors won't go with you or to tell you about.
- 1:32:01But yeah, no slouch here at all. NBA radio.
- 1:32:05NBA radio has always been top quality still is amazing shows
- 1:32:11you get out the message from men and women in different
- 1:32:14perspectives around the world, bro.
- 1:32:17So please don't ever downplay all the amazing accomplishments
- 1:32:20that you had because I appreciate I look up to you in
- 1:32:23that way. You didn't just create a
- 1:32:24podcast. You created a network bro and.
- 1:32:28That's the reason he did. Especially after all you've been
- 1:32:31through and those that know your military history and injuries,
- 1:32:34man. Yeah.
- 1:32:36Yeah, I appreciate that brother. I appreciate that.
- 1:32:39And hey, hey, when you, when you get back online, man, I've got
- 1:32:4413 hunting and fishing nonprofits that I have all lined
- 1:32:51up for, for you to like write them and set up and coordinate
- 1:32:56interviews. So you're not in this alone,
- 1:32:59man. I we, we, we, we, we, we.
- 1:33:01We've got your 6. Right, Roger that.
- 1:33:04I've always known that and I appreciate.
- 1:33:06And yeah, look for me to get back here real soon I'm.
- 1:33:11I'm excited about that. Yeah.
- 1:33:14And, and before we let you go, go ahead and do one more plug
- 1:33:18for Barracks, Barracks Talk. It's, it's on every Saturday at
- 1:33:258:00 PM Eastern Standard Time. It, it has you and Bo and I, I,
- 1:33:34I believe I, I, I believe Bender's still on there.
- 1:33:38Yep, Yep. And yeah, we have post from each
- 1:33:43service of the branch. I'm sorry, each branch of the
- 1:33:47service. I apologize.
- 1:33:49And yeah, it's just that the way you should speak in the
- 1:33:52barracks, man, Open, carefree, dark humor.
- 1:33:58You know, it's it's very, I'll admit you're going to need to be
- 1:34:03like I said, back in the barracks and not so sensitive.
- 1:34:07But yeah, that's that's that environment.
- 1:34:10And then if you're looking for a different refined but equally as
- 1:34:18effective resource and VR radio has several podcasts and
- 1:34:25stations and you see with the music and sponsors, they get it
- 1:34:30done too, man, it's absolute bad.
- 1:34:33These resources help us all to you know, not check out and
- 1:34:37improve man hold on. Yep, I love it, Amber.
- 1:34:41I've been asking him all the questions you have.
- 1:34:43Anything to ask him before we before we let him go?
- 1:34:49No, I just, I'm, I'm excited that you're starting to get back
- 1:34:53on the train again. And you know, I am new to MBR,
- 1:34:59so I have never actually met you before.
- 1:35:01I've watched a couple of your shows in the past and I really
- 1:35:05like them. And really, yeah, I do.
- 1:35:09As long as you can tell I don't actually know what I'm doing,
- 1:35:12but I'm trying to, you know, I don't either.
- 1:35:18But you can come on my show anytime and we can talk all
- 1:35:22kinds of stuff, right? On, right on.
- 1:35:25I appreciate that number. Right on.
- 1:35:27Yeah. You're welcome.
- 1:35:28Well, War Dog, let me leave you with this.
- 1:35:32Whenever you ever doubt yourself or whenever you go throughout
- 1:35:38your day and something you know, just that just kind of like
- 1:35:42turns you off, just remember that you know the impact that
- 1:35:48you have made has has made waves over the year and that you've
- 1:35:55done a lot of stuff for veterans.
- 1:35:58Just know that. Damn bro I I never really
- 1:36:03thought I heard that but so I I really appreciate it man.
- 1:36:06Just as long as one other vet gets something positive out of
- 1:36:11about, you know that that's all I asked for.
- 1:36:15I appreciate that man. I don't.
- 1:36:17I don't hear that often. I appreciate you man.
- 1:36:21And with that being said, I'm going to go ahead and we're
- 1:36:25getting ready to go to Tribute to the Troops.
- 1:36:27And Sergeant Wardog. Thank you so much for being on
- 1:36:30the show. I'm I'm sure you'll be on here
- 1:36:33again in the near future And take care my friend.
- 1:36:36OK, I'll I'll text you later. All right, guys.
- 1:36:39Thank you for having me on the show.
- 1:36:41Love you. Salute.
- 1:36:42Have a blessed day. All right.
- 1:36:46All right, ladies and gentlemen, once again, that is War Dog.
- 1:36:49He has a fantastic show that, you know, that introduces
- 1:36:55veterans to hunting and fishing, especially, you know, the, the
- 1:37:00gun Expo. They had gun Expo in Las Vegas
- 1:37:03and, and he went there and he was showing all like, you know,
- 1:37:08stuff for, for people that can't make it to those things.
- 1:37:15You know, it, it taught a lot of people stuff.
- 1:37:19It helped a lot of people. So with that being said, we're
- 1:37:22going to go to the tribute to the troops and when we come back
- 1:37:26from the tribute to troops, it is final thoughts.
- 1:37:29So whatever it is, stay with us. Don't go away.
- 1:37:32You're listening to the show that highlights all the
- 1:37:34nonprofit programs. You're beyond the VA.
- 1:37:38You're listening to the AIDS trains trail with Amber sitting
- 1:37:40in for MJ in my face, but I keep on pushing through dreams in my
- 1:37:42mind and another. 1 First call. The service member's name is
- 1:37:53called out loud in the context of a unit.
- 1:37:55This is meant to ensure all are present and accounted for.
- 1:37:59Second call, the name is called out again, louder to confirm
- 1:38:03that the service member is indeed absent.
- 1:38:07Third call. The name is called out for a
- 1:38:09final time, followed by a statement indicating that the
- 1:38:12service member is not present and accounted for, signifying
- 1:38:16their death. The final roll call serves as a
- 1:38:19symbolic gesture to respect and remember their service.
- 1:38:28Sir, I don't. I don't know how to tell this
- 1:38:31story. Well, you got the joke.
- 1:38:34You tell the nerd people with these men did here.
- 1:38:38You tell them how my troopers died.
- 1:39:02Hey everyone, thank you for tuning in to MBR today as we pay
- 1:39:05tribute to U.S. Army Specialist Lorianne
- 1:39:08Paestua, 23, Tuba City, AZ Laurie was born on December
- 1:39:1514th, 1979 in Tuba City, AZ to Terry Paistua and Priscilla's
- 1:39:20Percy Baca. Orianne Paista enlisted in the
- 1:39:24Army in October of 2001 as a single mom raising a four year
- 1:39:29old boy and a three-year old girl.
- 1:39:31She was the daughter of a Vietnam veteran and the
- 1:39:33granddaughter of World War 2 veteran.
- 1:39:36Serving her country was her colleague.
- 1:39:38She even served as a commanding officer of the Junior ROTC in
- 1:39:43high school. On March 30th, 2001, Paista left
- 1:39:47her basic training at Fort Sill, OK.
- 1:39:50After basic training, she continued on to advance
- 1:39:52individual training at Fort Lee, Virginia before being promoted
- 1:39:57to Pfc. She was then assigned to the
- 1:40:00Five O 7th Maintenance Company in Fort Bliss, TX for the Five O
- 1:40:047th by Eastuwa. Did clerical work and kept track
- 1:40:07of supplies at Fort Bliss by Eastuwa roomed with Pfc Jessica
- 1:40:12Lynch. The two became close friends and
- 1:40:14often refer to each other as roommate or roomie.
- 1:40:18In January of 2003, the five O 7th received war that they were
- 1:40:22be deployed to Iraq. Paistawa was still recovering
- 1:40:26from shoulder surgery, so she was supposed to remain at Fort
- 1:40:29Bliss. Knowing her roommate was anxious
- 1:40:32about the upcoming deployment and wanting to stay with her
- 1:40:36unit, Paistawa petitioned to be deployed as well.
- 1:40:42She told her brother that she wanted to be in a position where
- 1:40:47she could help. On February 17th, Ayastava's
- 1:40:51parents drove down to see their daughter off to Iraq.
- 1:40:55On that day she did a television interview with her family where
- 1:41:00she said it's very important knowing that my family is well
- 1:41:04taken care of and said with a smile that she was ready to go.
- 1:41:11On March 23rd, 2003, the Five O 7th was on a convoy carrying
- 1:41:17supplies and they made a wrong turn and missed their
- 1:41:20checkpoint. Paista was driving a Humvee in
- 1:41:23the back of the convoy. Along the way Lynch's truck
- 1:41:28broke down Paista unnoticed and drove over to her colleague.
- 1:41:33Get in roommate. As the convoy continued on, they
- 1:41:38were ambushed in the city of Nazara in Iraq.
- 1:41:42The left tire of Paista was Humvee was hit by a rock at the
- 1:41:46balcony. The explosion sent her vehicle
- 1:41:49into the rear of a disabled tractor trail.
- 1:41:53Paista, Johnson, Lynch all survived the crash with
- 1:41:58injuries, while three other soldiers in the Hamdi died.
- 1:42:03They were taken prisoner along with four others, with Paista
- 1:42:08dying of her wounds soon after. She was 23 years old.
- 1:42:13Initially, it was believed that all of the members of the Congo
- 1:42:16were missing in action. While being held prisoner in a
- 1:42:21hospital in Missouri on April 1st March, the only survivor
- 1:42:28from the Humvee was rescued by Special Forces.
- 1:42:31The Special Forces team also recovered Price of his body from
- 1:42:36a mass grave behind the. Hospital.
- 1:42:40Laurie sacrifice for the nation made historic waves in 2008.
- 1:42:45Squaw Peak, a mountain in Phoenix, was officially renamed
- 1:42:50after Laura Laurie Paista as a was a freeway near the mountain
- 1:42:56now known as Paista Peak. The prominent desert mountain
- 1:43:01honors Laurie sacrifice for her nation while also acknowledging
- 1:43:05her roots and upbringing in Tuba City on the Navajo Reservation
- 1:43:10in Arizona. the US Army posthumously promoted her from
- 1:43:16Pfc to specialists and awarded her the Purple Heart and
- 1:43:19Prisoner of War Medal. She became the first female
- 1:43:23service member to die in Iraq and the first Native American
- 1:43:28female service member to die in combat.
- 1:43:32Lori is survived by her son Brandon and her daughter Carla,
- 1:43:36her mother and father, a brother, as well as extended
- 1:43:40family and friends. We here at MBR would like to
- 1:43:44thank you, Specialist Lori Paistawa for your service and
- 1:43:48dedication to our country. You leave a legacy of love and
- 1:43:52courage. Our prayers are with your
- 1:43:55family, friends, and those who served alongside you.
- 1:43:59You are truly missed. Belly cow.
- 1:44:40Tinted. Ready.
- 1:48:30The station where our veterans voices are heard.
- 1:48:33MBR talk. Thanks.
- 1:48:39For tuning in are those of the speakers and do not necessarily
- 1:48:43reflect the views or positions of any entities they represent.
- 1:48:53Every scar, every tear got so much more to give.
- 1:48:55No pain, No pain. We rise above the flames,
- 1:48:56through the fire, through the rain.
- 1:49:00We embrace the change. No pain, no pain.
- 1:49:04We conquer every change with the struggle.
- 1:49:06Cause of strength. We.
- 1:49:08Will never. Be the same.
- 1:49:10I got to unmute us. We're back, ladies and
- 1:49:12gentlemen. Once again, you're listening to.
- 1:49:14The trailer highlights all the nonprofit programs up there
- 1:49:18beyond the VA. You're listening to the ACE
- 1:49:21train show. We had a really great interview
- 1:49:24with War Dog, you know, and you know, the key thing out of that
- 1:49:28whole interview is resilience. You know, everybody can,
- 1:49:36everybody goes through shit. Everybody goes through a hard
- 1:49:40time. No matter how much of a punch
- 1:49:46you get knocked down. It's, it's, it's resilience.
- 1:49:51You know, I, I remember and I don't remember a lot, but I
- 1:49:55remember when I first met you, Amber, we were, we were on that,
- 1:49:59that futon couch and I showed you what I had sent to, you
- 1:50:05know, one of the people that we were trying to get the sponsor
- 1:50:09that that didn't work out, but we were trying to get, I was
- 1:50:12trying to get a sponsor. And you read that story.
- 1:50:16You looked at me and you know, you know what I see, I see a
- 1:50:20story of resilience and people, people forget that until
- 1:50:27somebody else points it out. And that's, that's, that's not
- 1:50:33just me. That's, that's, I think that's
- 1:50:35everybody. You know, war dog even brought
- 1:50:38up that he doesn't feel that he's impacted other veterans
- 1:50:44where he's held veterans, but he has, he has just letting
- 1:50:51everybody know, Hey, look, I've, I've went through pain, I went
- 1:50:55through struggles. I've I went through my, my own
- 1:51:00war in my head. And sometimes people just forget
- 1:51:04that. I'm trying to think there was
- 1:51:10one thing that taped me and said to me a long time ago, People
- 1:51:17will always see you happy, but they never question why you're
- 1:51:26happy. The only time that they question
- 1:51:29you is when they see you crying. And you know, that's that that
- 1:51:38goes, that goes a long way that that that kind of spoke to me.
- 1:51:43You know, even even the most successful people, they go
- 1:51:48through their tribes trials and and tribulations.
- 1:51:52And we have to understand that. You know, one thing that we
- 1:51:55didn't bring up is, and I'm not going to mention her name.
- 1:52:00Everybody knows who she is. There was an Olympic star that
- 1:52:05was recently stopped for a for a DUI.
- 1:52:09And the one thing that I don't like with the media is the media
- 1:52:15has really been like posting her mug shot.
- 1:52:18You know, I mean, they're, they're covering her traffic
- 1:52:23stop like they would that like they would cover a, a shooter.
- 1:52:30And we need to understand that just because they have gold
- 1:52:35medals or they've been on TV or, you know, all this other stuff
- 1:52:40like they're, they're, they're human beings too.
- 1:52:43They're normal. They're, they're going through
- 1:52:46the same thing that they, they are not, you know, stress and
- 1:52:56struggles. And I mean all that cancer,
- 1:53:00everything it, it, it, it doesn't pick and choose
- 1:53:05everybody. Everybody can go through it.
- 1:53:11Yeah, they can. And I, I think sometimes we, we
- 1:53:16forget that as a society. So it is that time where we're
- 1:53:22going to, if I can find it, we're going to play.
- 1:53:24Our final thoughts, ladies and gentlemen, the two-minute
- 1:53:28warning. 554433211 We have ignition stripping.
- 1:53:38It's the two-minute warning, minute warning.
- 1:53:39What we learn today, are you not?
- 1:53:41Entertained. At Project ML Gratitude, our
- 1:53:52mission is simple, to give motorcycles to veterans who need
- 1:53:54the kind of peace and freedom that only a ride can give.
- 1:53:59And just so you know, if if you didn't know MO grad 2, they give
- 1:54:05a motorcycle away every year to a, you know, deserving veteran,
- 1:54:11some somebody that you know that has done something in the
- 1:54:15community and it's a way to give back.
- 1:54:20They, you know, ever since Kim got the hometown hero award,
- 1:54:25things have been going great for ML gratitude.
- 1:54:29They they received 5 gently used motorcycles here recently.
- 1:54:36So they'll be giving those motorcycles away now as well.
- 1:54:41Also before I, before I end on this note, I want to put it out
- 1:54:48there some feelers that MBR is looking for an RV.
- 1:54:56They're looking for an RV so that we can do these shows
- 1:55:01mobile. And right now, right now we have
- 1:55:07a studio and instead of paying that monthly thing for the
- 1:55:11studio, we would rather pay that monthly thing for an RV,
- 1:55:17something that's mobile. Because then we're able to go
- 1:55:22off grid. We're able to go to other
- 1:55:25nonprofit fundraisers. We're able to go to not other
- 1:55:30nonprofit events and broadcast. Because I guarantee you that
- 1:55:35you're going to have a better chance of us coming and covering
- 1:55:39the event then you will like Channel 31 or Channel 9 news or
- 1:55:44any other. And that's the ultimate reason
- 1:55:48why MBR was created, so that the military community knows what's
- 1:55:54going on. You know, I don't know if you
- 1:55:57guys have that same issue in Missouri, but here in Denver,
- 1:56:01you could be doing something spectacular and it could really
- 1:56:04be swallowed with everything that's going in just because
- 1:56:07there's so much to do here in Denver.
- 1:56:10And when when nonprofits do the fundraiser in the events, you
- 1:56:16know, or skydiving or something like that, I think it's
- 1:56:19important to show that because you're you're seeing veterans
- 1:56:27doing something for the community, a second chance, you
- 1:56:32know. So I guess the first thing I
- 1:56:37would say is, Amber, what did you learn today?
- 1:56:41So I think the one thing I did learn today is, is that MBR is a
- 1:56:46very special place and I am extremely grateful that I have
- 1:56:51connected with you and become a part of MBR and that a kind word
- 1:57:00and telling somebody that they're loved is can go a long
- 1:57:07way. Yes.
- 1:57:09And so I think that's what I've learned today is, is that
- 1:57:12sometimes going out of our comfort zone to tell people how
- 1:57:17much we appreciate them is more important than our comfort.
- 1:57:26Yep, because sometimes, sometimes everybody, including
- 1:57:31myself, sometimes we second guess ourselves.
- 1:57:34And it's really important for you to be that friend that can
- 1:57:40reconfirm to them that they don't need to second guess
- 1:57:46ourselves. What they're doing is making an
- 1:57:49impact. And making an impact can be as
- 1:57:52little as holding the door for somebody or giving them a smile.
- 1:57:57You do not know what they're going through.
- 1:58:00And yeah, so I, you know, today I, I learned that war dog looks
- 1:58:09great with the earphones on like that.
- 1:58:11That's what he's meant to do, you know, and I'm kind of hoping
- 1:58:14that the little, the little presence today kind of started a
- 1:58:22a fire under his ass and he'll get that stuff going.
- 1:58:26Me too, because he's got a lot to contribute.
- 1:58:30Yeah, most definitely he does. But it is that time, everybody,
- 1:58:35it is our time to get off here. So whatever you do and keep on
- 1:58:39watching, we have some great shows still, still come.
- 1:58:44We have veterans talk later on. We also have OM radio that will
- 1:58:52be on as well. And I don't know yet, but I
- 1:58:56think money in the military, he's going to be debut and
- 1:59:00coming back on today. Okay, dog tag diva is supposed
- 1:59:03to be on today, right? Dog tag diva was on Tuesday, I
- 1:59:08thought. I thought I was supposed to be
- 1:59:10on Never never mind. Wrong, wrong day.
- 1:59:15All right, why everybody, would that be a sad Until we see you
- 1:59:19next Thursday, remember, keep your feet on the ground and your
- 1:59:23hands reaching up for the sky because the Sky's the limit.
- 1:59:27And they all say we're here for you, not for us.
- 1:59:31Giving our. Veterans, the Voice.
