- 00:00:03 Speaker 1: All I know is what I've been told, and that's a half truth is a whole lie. 00:00:08 Speaker 2: For almost a decade, the murder of an eighteen year old girl from a small town in Graves County, Kentucky went unsolved until a local homemaker, a journalist, and a handful of girls came forward with a story. I'm telling you, we know, we know why n her. We know a story that law enforcement used to convict six people, and that got the Citizen Investigator on National TV. 00:00:38 Speaker 3: Through sheer persistence and nerve, this Kentucky housewife helped give justice to Jessica Current. 00:00:45 Speaker 2: My name is Maggie Freeling. I'm a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist producer, and I wouldn't be here if the truth were that easy to find. I did not know her, and I did not kill her, or write or burn or any of that other stuff that y'all see it, because this is a story about just how far people and our legal system will go to get a conviction. 00:01:09 Speaker 3: They literally made me say that I took a match and struck and threw it on her. 00:01:12 Speaker 2: They made me say that I poor guests on her. 00:01:15 Speaker 1: So to be clear, law enforcement is paying a citizen with no training to do interviews in a high profile murder investigation. 00:01:26 Speaker 2: Yes, and it's about the tales we tell and choose to believe when we need someone to blame. 00:01:34 Speaker 3: This is why you all are steady here because of lies. 00:01:38 Speaker 2: So it sounds like a lot of people have come forward saying I know who did this, but no one has said who did it. That's correct, the repercussions of which have uprooted lives, shattered families, and exposed a deep rot in Kentucky's halls of power to lie. 00:01:57 Speaker 1: Oh, my daughter liked that. I'm not seeing the one of you because I will be in prison. 00:02:04 Speaker 2: I've spent over two years trying to get to the bottom of it all. 00:02:08 Speaker 3: Marka. 00:02:09 Speaker 2: Y'all gotta work the hell up.
