- 0:43Speaker 1: also loves Japanese shrubbery. We're going to learn some things
- 0:47Speaker 1: about this little cat. He spent years behind the drum kit,
- 0:51Speaker 1: and he still gets it done. You know him, and
- 0:54Speaker 1: I'm happy to get to. Today's guest is Mr. Tommy Lee.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Show I'll sit and tell you my stories. Shine on me.
- 1:14Speaker 1: And I will find a song. I've been singing this song.
- 1:26Speaker 1: I haven't fucking... Dude, I got an ear. Like, one
- 1:29Speaker 1: of my ears I can't hear. I think there's something... Like,
- 1:32Speaker 1: I don't know what happened to it. It's just been getting...
- 1:34Speaker 1: I'm at the age kind of I feel like where
- 1:35Speaker 1: if something starts breaking, you're like, am I going to
- 1:37Speaker 1: go get it fixed or am I just going to?
- 1:40Speaker 2: Dude. You know what I'm talking about?
- 1:42Speaker 1: Yeah. I get it.
- 1:44Speaker 2: I get it.
- 1:44Speaker 3: I'm like, well, I have a reason for my shit
- 1:50Speaker 3: breaking down slowly. But I'm like, you know.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Fuck it.
- 1:55Speaker 2: Do I fix it or do I just leave it?
- 1:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:58Speaker 2: I just say what a lot. Yeah.
- 2:01Speaker 1: It kind of fits in with your vibe too. You're like,
- 2:03Speaker 1: I can't. Yeah. Should Tommy Lee be able to hear
- 2:05Speaker 1: at this point?
- 2:06Speaker 2: Probably not.
- 2:07Speaker 1: Does he still deserve all of his senses? That's what
- 2:09Speaker 1: a lot of people would say probably. Dude, that's hilarious.
- 2:14Speaker 1: But yeah, my shit's just like, I don't know what's
- 2:16Speaker 1: going on. But then I'm like, yeah, do I go
- 2:18Speaker 1: get this shit fixed? Or am I just like, this
- 2:20Speaker 1: is the part of my life where one of my
- 2:22Speaker 1: ears is gone, you know? Or one of my, I
- 2:23Speaker 1: just can't hear anymore, you know, out of one ear.
- 2:26Speaker 2: What happened?
- 2:26Speaker 1: Did you?
- 2:27Speaker 2: Don't know something blow up or just like lots of
- 2:31Speaker 2: loud music or.
- 2:32Speaker 1: No I think just uh I don't know could have
- 2:35Speaker 1: just been listening to some chicks bullshit I don't even
- 2:37Speaker 1: know what happened to me you know or just yeah
- 2:40Speaker 1: I don't know it's just me and I just haven't
- 2:42Speaker 1: got had time it's all good man it just is
- 2:44Speaker 1: what it is dude that's cool yeah I think it's
- 2:47Speaker 1: been it made some of my dreams kind of weird
- 2:50Speaker 1: I keep having this do you ever have any like
- 2:52Speaker 1: recurring dreams No, it's.
- 2:55Speaker 2: The fucking weirdest thing. I don't really dream a lot.
- 2:59Speaker 2: My wife dreams all the time. Every morning she's like,
- 3:03Speaker 2: oh my God, I had the craziest dream. And she's like,
- 3:05Speaker 2: you don't dream. You lived one.
- 3:08Speaker 1: I'm living it. Maybe if you get to live a dream,
- 3:12Speaker 1: it's like God's like, hey, we're not doing, you can't
- 3:15Speaker 1: play both sides of the net, you know? That's awesome.
- 3:18Speaker 1: It could be. It could be. Because dreams, yeah, I
- 3:21Speaker 1: think you're, yeah, I don't know. That's kind of interesting. Yeah. Yeah, dude,
- 3:27Speaker 1: you got to live such a dream, man. Do you
- 3:30Speaker 1: ever like, do you ever look at your life and
- 3:32Speaker 1: you think like, did I do it well enough? Did
- 3:35Speaker 1: I service the opportunity enough? Like, is there ever like
- 3:38Speaker 1: some thoughts like that kind of? Well, you know. Or
- 3:43Speaker 1: is that weird? I don't know.
- 3:45Speaker 3: I think mostly I walk around with a, shitload of
- 3:50Speaker 3: gratitude i'm i'm constantly pinching myself like fuck i still
- 3:56Speaker 3: get to do this i still get to rock the
- 3:59Speaker 3: fuck out go do this go do that like i
- 4:02Speaker 3: i get to live man so i've just been really
- 4:06Speaker 3: grateful lately because could.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Not be here yeah you know oh and yeah you
- 4:13Speaker 1: guys definitely yeah and fuck i want a spaceship man
- 4:17Speaker 1: i want to hang around long enough because I'm still pissed, dude.
- 4:22Speaker 2: The year 2000, we were supposed to have fucking, where,
- 4:26Speaker 2: where's my, where's my fucking, my machine. I want to
- 4:31Speaker 2: fucking just go, dude, go into Theo's. I'm here.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. You think, yeah, you think at this point
- 4:40Speaker 1: we'd be able to email people to each other or
- 4:42Speaker 1: something or like, you know email people yeah or i
- 4:46Speaker 1: think like send it yeah yeah just like a door
- 4:51Speaker 1: dash shows up and you're like oh you're two houses
- 4:53Speaker 1: off and you just forward them that'd be crazy bro
- 4:58Speaker 1: that'd be pretty great actually that would be but sometimes
- 5:01Speaker 1: i wonder like if they had that travel where you
- 5:02Speaker 1: could like like a warp or whatever you know like
- 5:06Speaker 1: you could just go in a machine and then it sent,
- 5:07Speaker 1: you know, you, you, you next thing you know, you're
- 5:09Speaker 1: in Cedar Rapids or something was like, I wonder like,
- 5:12Speaker 1: would you get like, would some people show up in
- 5:14Speaker 1: their fucking arms or like, it's like, you know, there's
- 5:17Speaker 1: like a glitch or whatever. Something failed in the transmission.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Like you have a show like that night in Des
- 5:23Speaker 1: Moines and they, they, you know, arms.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Fuck dude. Send me back. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, that
- 5:33Speaker 1: would be the crazy part because sometimes you would just
- 5:35Speaker 1: have to go do, like if it's during Christmas and
- 5:38Speaker 1: the holidays are so busy and like, oh, you got
- 5:40Speaker 1: the wrong arms and they like mix you up or whatever.
- 5:43Speaker 1: You show up with like some big fucking BLM arms
- 5:45Speaker 1: or whatever. You're like, oh shit, dude. You know?
- 5:49Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 5:50Speaker 1: I don't even know what I'm talking about. Tommy Lee,
- 5:52Speaker 1: thanks for coming in, man. Thanks for having me, dude.
- 5:54Speaker 1: This is fucking cool. Yeah, it's really cool, man. Crazy, dude.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Just because, like, I mean, obviously, like, so many people
- 6:00Speaker 1: tell you all the time, just, you know, Dr. Feelgood,
- 6:02Speaker 1: just so much of just, like, I mean, my brother
- 6:05Speaker 1: would beat me, beat me to you guys' music.
- 6:08Speaker 2: That's crazy.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Yeah. I was the drum, dude. I was a snare
- 6:11Speaker 1: for my brother. And it was awesome, but it was loving,
- 6:12Speaker 1: you know, like... Oh, Rob. But it was just, yeah,
- 6:16Speaker 1: it was just so crazy. Like, we used to get
- 6:18Speaker 1: all the rocker magazines, and, like, they'd always have, like,
- 6:22Speaker 1: you know, like, the pictures in there looked so cool,
- 6:25Speaker 1: and the stories would be so kind of vague, but
- 6:27Speaker 1: somebody would be kind of bleeding or something, you know?
- 6:30Speaker 1: Remember those magazines, dude?
- 6:31Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 6:33Speaker 1: Like, Keggar. They're gone. Keggar, or no, what was one
- 6:36Speaker 1: of them, Kennegar?
- 6:38Speaker 2: Kagan?
- 6:38Speaker 1: No, is that it? Oh, Kerrang? Kerrang, yeah. Kerrang was
- 6:41Speaker 1: the European version, yeah. Yeah, dude. Somebody got Kerrang in
- 6:45Speaker 1: our neighborhood somehow, and we would... Kerrang. And then, what
- 6:49Speaker 1: are some other ones that we got? That shit was
- 6:53Speaker 1: so great, though. Circus? Yeah, Circus, dude. Circus was another one. Circus, yeah. Yeah, dude,
- 7:00Speaker 1: it was so great when those came in. Kerrang. You
- 7:04Speaker 1: guys are touring still.
- 7:05Speaker 3: Yeah, we're, we're kind of finishing up, um, um, for
- 7:09Speaker 3: the remainder of the summer, we're just doing, uh, uh,
- 7:14Speaker 3: some festivals here and there, um, until I think September
- 7:19Speaker 3: we finish up, but, um, we're still finishing up that
- 7:23Speaker 3: last stadium tour, but the summer is now just, uh,
- 7:28Speaker 3: some festivals kind of assorted here and.
- 7:30Speaker 1: There, which are kind of fun, man.
- 7:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:34Speaker 3: It's different to, how do I explain it? They're kind
- 7:38Speaker 3: of like, you probably are familiar with this kind of
- 7:41Speaker 3: like one-off stuff, because you're doing comedy, you like fly
- 7:43Speaker 3: in and do a show, come back, you know. Where
- 7:48Speaker 3: on a tour, you get on a bus and you
- 7:51Speaker 3: come fucking home for a year and a half. So
- 7:56Speaker 3: these weekend ones are fun. We just did one the
- 8:00Speaker 3: last weekend, and literally, left from Van Nuys, went to Minot,
- 8:07Speaker 3: played the show and was back 24 hours later and
- 8:10Speaker 3: it was just like, this is.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Kind of cool too.
- 8:14Speaker 3: It's weird to kind of start up and stop like that,
- 8:17Speaker 3: but it is cool because you're in and out.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Yeah, it's weird. It's like, there's times when it's like,
- 8:21Speaker 1: I'll be out on the road and I'm like, God,
- 8:23Speaker 1: I want to be home. But then I'd be home
- 8:25Speaker 1: and I'd be like, I want to be out on
- 8:25Speaker 1: the road. And then sometimes it gets to a point
- 8:27Speaker 1: where it's like, I don't even know if I want
- 8:28Speaker 1: to be home anymore.
- 8:29Speaker 3: Dude, that's the exact, the grass is always greener. If
- 8:33Speaker 3: you're out on the road, you're like, fuck, man, I'd
- 8:36Speaker 3: kill to sleep in my own bed. And then when
- 8:38Speaker 3: you're at home, you're like, fuck, I.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Want to get back out. Yeah, you're like, my own
- 8:42Speaker 1: bed has my wife in it. You're just never happy.
- 8:43Speaker 1: You're like, I got to get out of here, dude. Fuck,
- 8:45Speaker 1: I know, yeah. Yeah, it's definitely- You find it hard
- 8:49Speaker 1: to- to relax do you like to just keep keep
- 8:53Speaker 1: it yeah i want to keep going yeah i get
- 8:55Speaker 1: that vibe from you i want to keep going because
- 8:57Speaker 1: i think you start to do some things you're like
- 8:59Speaker 1: oh well what else could i do you know and
- 9:02Speaker 1: i don't think you know that until you do some
- 9:04Speaker 1: so some little opportunities come you're like oh wow this
- 9:07Speaker 1: is possible you're like well what else could i do
- 9:09Speaker 1: what else am i capable of am i using my
- 9:12Speaker 1: skills to the best you know right um trying to
- 9:15Speaker 1: be better man yeah time you better always again what
- 9:19Speaker 1: keeps you uh how do you like relax these days
- 9:21Speaker 1: like what kind of calms you out dude about.
- 9:26Speaker 3: Like seven or eight years ago i got into fucking
- 9:31Speaker 3: bonsai man and that's like that's been like like a
- 9:39Speaker 3: lifesaver you know it started out as just a fascination
- 9:44Speaker 3: from all the times going to japan i'd always go
- 9:46Speaker 3: to the Japanese gardens and be like, fuck, this is
- 9:49Speaker 3: the most peaceful, beautiful shit I've ever seen.
- 9:54Speaker 1: In my life. How do I, give me some. How
- 9:56Speaker 1: do I. Give me a couple of grams of that.
- 10:01Speaker 1: It's kind of like nature by the gram. It is.
- 10:04Speaker 1: It is.
- 10:05Speaker 3: And I just started fucking watching YouTube videos on, on
- 10:10Speaker 3: the art of it and the practice of it and
- 10:13Speaker 3: how to do it. And I, I just, I just
- 10:16Speaker 3: went down a rabbit hole and I found it to
- 10:18Speaker 3: be the most relaxing, fulfilling, you know, get me close
- 10:23Speaker 3: to nature shit to like, just even me out. Cause I'm,
- 10:26Speaker 3: I'm like you too. I'm pretty fucking hyper. I don't
- 10:29Speaker 3: really like to sit still much, but that was like,
- 10:34Speaker 3: I found my, I found my thing, man.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Oh, wow. This is it. Yeah.
- 10:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:43Speaker 1: I thought they were way smaller than that. That's you? Yeah.
- 10:47Speaker 1: In the white shirt?
- 10:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:49Speaker 1: Oh, my God, dude. I thought that was a lesbian.
- 10:53Speaker 1: No offense, dude. I know a lesbian, but yeah. I
- 10:56Speaker 1: was like, holy, sorry, bro. I was like looking for you, dude. Oh,
- 11:00Speaker 1: that's awesome. And this one came with real Asian people.
- 11:05Speaker 3: This is in Nashville, right outside of Nashville. That's at
- 11:10Speaker 3: Bjorn's Nursery. He's now moved on to Japan. Um, but yeah,
- 11:18Speaker 3: that's kind of a, that's, that's on the large size bonsai. There's,
- 11:23Speaker 3: there's much, I mean, there's little, little guys and medium, large.
- 11:29Speaker 1: So what is it? Does it feel, cause it almost
- 11:31Speaker 1: looks like right there. Like it's almost like a guy,
- 11:32Speaker 1: like you're a God over this little, it's like. That's
- 11:36Speaker 1: what it looks like right there because I never realized
- 11:38Speaker 1: how it looks like a whole big tree just compact, huh?
- 11:40Speaker 2: Yeah, that's basically what it is.
- 11:42Speaker 3: I mean, people go up into the mountains and they'll
- 11:46Speaker 3: dig out, you know, 20, 30, 40, 50-year-old trees and
- 11:52Speaker 3: bring them back, cut them down, cut them all back
- 11:55Speaker 3: and put them in a small pot and just kind
- 11:58Speaker 3: of start over.
- 11:59Speaker 2: And that's years and years of work.
- 12:02Speaker 1: Really?
- 12:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:03Speaker 1: So it takes a lot of work to get a
- 12:05Speaker 1: bonsai to really grow? Yeah. To look, looking like that,
- 12:09Speaker 1: a lot of years. Wow. Yeah.
- 12:12Speaker 2: So it's kind of, yeah, you're right.
- 12:13Speaker 1: It's good.
- 12:14Speaker 3: It's a project and you're, it's, it's, you're calling it God-like,
- 12:20Speaker 3: but like it's, you know, you're putting in a ton
- 12:24Speaker 3: of love and your time and everything into this tree
- 12:28Speaker 3: that you're you know, it's like a person almost.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Oh yeah. I bet.
- 12:32Speaker 3: So there's a lot, there's a lot more gratification from
- 12:36Speaker 3: just it being a tree for me.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Like I, I just love all that, man. Really? I
- 12:41Speaker 1: got like, I think I'm at around 43 trees now.
- 12:45Speaker 1: Like it's, I'm fucking obsessed. Damn. Yes. You're an addict really. Yeah.
- 12:50Speaker 1: I'm an addict. Yeah. And you keep them inside or
- 12:53Speaker 1: where do you keep them at?
- 12:55Speaker 3: I bring them inside and enjoy them, uh, like when
- 12:58Speaker 3: the sun goes down. But most trees, that's the first
- 13:04Speaker 3: thing people, the mistake they make. You know, I don't
- 13:06Speaker 3: know if you're driving around, you see the guy by
- 13:08Speaker 3: the side of the road in a van selling those
- 13:11Speaker 3: little bonsais.
- 13:12Speaker 1: You ever see that shit driving to the beach or something?
- 13:14Speaker 1: Oh yeah, if you're heading towards Malibu or something on PCH. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Well people, the first thing people do is go like,
- 13:21Speaker 1: oh yeah, I gotta get one, I want a bonsai.
- 13:25Speaker 2: And they put it inside. And they fucking, they kill
- 13:29Speaker 2: all the trees.
- 13:30Speaker 1: That's the dude.
- 13:34Speaker 3: These are like, dude, these are junipers and pines and
- 13:37Speaker 3: shit like that. They don't grow indoors. But these guys
- 13:41Speaker 3: don't tell people that. I mean, there's very few that
- 13:44Speaker 3: will grow inside. Some of the ficus, but very few.
- 13:49Speaker 3: Most bonsai trees, specimens, go outside.
- 13:58Speaker 1: So it says right here, the practice of bonsai development
- 14:00Speaker 1: incorporates a number of techniques either unique to bonsai or
- 14:03Speaker 1: are used in other forms of cultivation. Like, so you
- 14:05Speaker 1: trim the leaves. Like, yeah, what are all the things
- 14:07Speaker 1: you do to them?
- 14:08Speaker 3: Yeah, you, well, I mean, you're constantly pruning, trimming, fertilizing, wiring. Like,
- 14:15Speaker 3: you take, you know, different gauge wire and you, you're
- 14:20Speaker 3: telling the branches where to go, you know, styling the
- 14:24Speaker 3: tree all out with, um, it's you know you're you're
- 14:30Speaker 3: sort of dictating how this thing's gonna you know your
- 14:35Speaker 3: vision of how the tree uh will you know look
- 14:39Speaker 3: its best.
- 14:40Speaker 1: And is there a certain time when you go do
- 14:42Speaker 1: it tommy or is it just kind of like you're
- 14:44Speaker 1: like you know i'm feeling this would be something to
- 14:46Speaker 1: do today like how much of a responsibility is it
- 14:48Speaker 1: as an owner.
- 14:52Speaker 3: It's daily man it's like it's like It's just part
- 14:57Speaker 3: of the program.
- 14:58Speaker 2: I'll wake up and rip some coffees and cigarettes, and
- 15:04Speaker 2: then I go out and talk to the trees and
- 15:07Speaker 2: chill out for a while and get the day started right, man.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Oh, for sure, bro. You're a grower and a shower, dude.
- 15:15Speaker 1: That's what's crazy, bro. I can't even believe that.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Wow.
- 15:21Speaker 1: That's fascinating. You'd love it, man. I bet I would.
- 15:23Speaker 1: I don't know if you like tripping out and just,
- 15:26Speaker 1: creating shit but yeah if you like out if you
- 15:29Speaker 1: like trees and you like creating i love being creative
- 15:34Speaker 1: and the wild thing is once life gets busy it's
- 15:36Speaker 1: hard to be as creative it's hard to like do
- 15:38Speaker 1: as much it's hard to be as creative i feel
- 15:40Speaker 1: like did you ever feel like that with um with
- 15:43Speaker 1: touring and stuff it's like because i can only imagine
- 15:45Speaker 1: for you guys i mean it seemed like it was
- 15:47Speaker 1: kind of um once you like launched it was just
- 15:51Speaker 1: like a brush fire huh um, with, with your band.
- 15:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:58Speaker 1: Yeah. Like, man, since kind of nonstop. Yeah.
- 16:04Speaker 3: Since, you know, I mean, it's, it's all, you're always,
- 16:09Speaker 3: always fucking doing something. If you're not touring, you're in
- 16:12Speaker 3: the studio making the music. If you're not making the music,
- 16:14Speaker 3: you're taking a break, uh, to start a new record
- 16:18Speaker 3: or the, like, you know, you're always doing shit.
- 16:22Speaker 1: Um, so, I don't know what the fuck I'm getting at.
- 16:28Speaker 2: It's all right.
- 16:28Speaker 1: I don't even know what the fuck I'm talking about.
- 16:31Speaker 1: It's okay, man. What's one of the hardest parts about
- 16:36Speaker 1: success as a group did you find? Because success is
- 16:40Speaker 1: an individual kind of. You have partners and you have
- 16:43Speaker 1: teammates and you have people that support you. Sure. But
- 16:45Speaker 1: as a group, it's almost like you divided by four
- 16:48Speaker 1: or by however many people are in your band. So
- 16:51Speaker 1: it's like, fuck. It just seems like it would be
- 16:54Speaker 1: so hard to navigate to keep everything going to maintain
- 16:57Speaker 1: the success.
- 16:59Speaker 3: Yeah, that's, you're 100% right, man. Anytime there's more people
- 17:08Speaker 3: other than yourself involved, balancing four or three other guys
- 17:14Speaker 3: and making that work is really rare, man.
- 17:19Speaker 1: Really, really rare, and.
- 17:20Speaker 3: It's not easy. And somehow, we've managed to fucking keep
- 17:26Speaker 3: it together. Like there's only, there's only a handful of
- 17:29Speaker 3: bands that, that are, that are still doing it.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Oh yeah. Shit. All of our, our peers just fell
- 17:39Speaker 1: off here, fell off there.
- 17:41Speaker 2: And like, that's what I was saying.
- 17:43Speaker 3: I'm like, just really grateful because it, uh, that kind
- 17:47Speaker 3: of shit doesn't really happen.
- 17:48Speaker 1: All the time. I don't really know how to explain it.
- 17:51Speaker 1: I'm just, Were you kind of the glue in it?
- 17:53Speaker 1: Do you feel like, were you kind of the peacekeeper?
- 17:55Speaker 1: Like what was your kind of role? Do you feel like,
- 17:58Speaker 1: or were you more like part of the problem or, or,
- 18:01Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying? Like, cause you can be
- 18:02Speaker 1: one or the other. And it's some days it's day
- 18:04Speaker 1: to day. It's like some days I know it's like, okay,
- 18:06Speaker 1: today I'm part of the solution and today I'm part
- 18:08Speaker 1: of the problem.
- 18:09Speaker 2: Yeah, dude, I'm absolutely both.
- 18:11Speaker 1: Absolutely both.
- 18:12Speaker 2: But you got to have that, right?
- 18:14Speaker 1: I guess. I don't know. Some people are good at
- 18:15Speaker 1: just being part of the solution. I feel like.
- 18:18Speaker 2: Yeah, that's true. That's probably the better way.
- 18:21Speaker 1: Yeah. I just don't know if I, yeah. And I
- 18:27Speaker 1: think it's kind of boring though.
- 18:28Speaker 2: Uh, yeah.
- 18:29Speaker 1: Oh yeah, for sure. But I just, yeah, I can't
- 18:32Speaker 1: imagine that you guys survived that much because so many
- 18:35Speaker 1: bands just disappeared. So many of them, people, singers died. Like, um,
- 18:40Speaker 1: even like Stone Temple, like Scott Weiland, you know, like
- 18:42Speaker 1: when I was growing up, like that was a Crazy dude. Yes.
- 18:45Speaker 1: That sound was just something else.
- 18:47Speaker 2: Dude, the best. I loved STP.
- 18:50Speaker 1: Did you guys ever tour with them or no? We
- 18:53Speaker 1: never toured with them, but we were on a couple
- 18:57Speaker 1: of festivals with them.
- 18:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:59Speaker 3: That's kind of where everyone meets up when you're on festivals.
- 19:02Speaker 3: It's like the Pumpkins, Motley Crue, STP, fucking Van Halen.
- 19:08Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 19:08Speaker 2: That's where everybody links up and you're all.
- 19:11Speaker 1: That's fun.
- 19:12Speaker 2: The festivals are fun, man.
- 19:13Speaker 1: Yeah. Because otherwise you're just kind of by yourself, you know,
- 19:16Speaker 1: I mean, you're with your, at least with the, you know,
- 19:18Speaker 1: you're with your like coworkers and your bandmates, but yeah,
- 19:22Speaker 1: it's kind of a, yeah, people think that there's like all,
- 19:25Speaker 1: everybody always hangs out together and it just doesn't get
- 19:27Speaker 1: to happen like that a lot.
- 19:29Speaker 3: No, pretty much only festivals, you know, when you're, you're
- 19:32Speaker 3: out touring with another band.
- 19:35Speaker 1: It's just you guys. Yeah. Or Christmas parties. You ever
- 19:38Speaker 1: throw any sick Christmas parties? Did you ever have a party?
- 19:41Speaker 1: Some people have like, this is the year, this is
- 19:44Speaker 1: the time of year I throw a fucking party every
- 19:47Speaker 1: year and it rocks. Oh, whoa.
- 19:48Speaker 3: Um, I mean, I've thrown some parties, but nothing like
- 19:53Speaker 3: every year. Like, you know, that like that, this is
- 19:55Speaker 3: the one.
- 19:57Speaker 1: Do you do that?
- 19:58Speaker 2: Nope.
- 19:59Speaker 1: No ragers? Oh, I mean, I've thrown, I mean, a
- 20:01Speaker 1: lot of, no, a lot of times I would just
- 20:03Speaker 1: end up getting drugs and doing them by myself at home.
- 20:05Speaker 1: That's the best. Yeah, yeah. It was like the scariest
- 20:11Speaker 1: and the best, though. And it was like, I would,
- 20:15Speaker 1: I would like rip some cocaine and I'd be like,
- 20:16Speaker 1: all right, man, I'm going to get my shit together.
- 20:18Speaker 1: Things are going to be different. And then I would
- 20:19Speaker 1: just walk in the other room and it was like,
- 20:22Speaker 1: I got to go check on that cocaine and I
- 20:23Speaker 1: would go back. Just one more before I go to sleep. Yes. Yeah.
- 20:29Speaker 1: That's the craziest. The hardest thing to do is hide
- 20:32Speaker 1: your cocaine in the other room, dude.
- 20:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:35Speaker 1: And I would try to hide my cocaine from myself, dude.
- 20:38Speaker 1: I remember there would be times I would even blindfold myself. Right.
- 20:42Speaker 1: And like, yeah. Walk around my apartment like this. Right.
- 20:45Speaker 1: With the cocaine in my hand and then kind of
- 20:47Speaker 1: throw it somewhere. Right. Or like, and sometimes I would even,
- 20:50Speaker 1: I would get dizzy and then just throw it like
- 20:52Speaker 1: that while I was spinning. So you don't know where
- 20:53Speaker 1: it went.
- 20:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:55Speaker 1: And then, dude, seven minutes later, dude. Where the fuck? Oh,
- 21:00Speaker 1: I would have moved everything from one side to the other. Like,
- 21:02Speaker 1: just fucking. And you're in an apartment, so you'd have
- 21:05Speaker 1: to move everything so quietly, dude. And when you're high
- 21:08Speaker 1: on cocaine, any sound is the loudest. Oh, dude. Oh,
- 21:14Speaker 1: my God. Because I think you don't want to not
- 21:16Speaker 1: hear maybe some cocaine in the distance. You're like, holy shit,
- 21:19Speaker 1: was that some cocaine? You know? But then it's like
- 21:23Speaker 1: I get my skin starts getting warm and it feels
- 21:25Speaker 1: like my heart is like, I don't know if we're
- 21:27Speaker 1: going to keep beating or not. And you're like, all right,
- 21:29Speaker 1: hold on. Let's calm down a little bit. Or let's
- 21:34Speaker 1: ride a whale. Did you ever ride a whale or
- 21:35Speaker 1: anything like that? No.
- 21:39Speaker 2: No, that's pretty heavy, dude.
- 21:41Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, I was– Even when I was dying, I
- 21:45Speaker 1: guess I was kind of a chatty Cathy or whatever,
- 21:47Speaker 1: but yeah, I would fucking write a will. Dude, I've
- 21:50Speaker 1: written probably, yeah, 16, 17 wills over the years. Oh
- 21:53Speaker 1: my God. That's wild. Oh, sad. Because I would feel bad,
- 21:58Speaker 1: you know, if somebody found me or whatever, I'd want
- 22:00Speaker 1: them to, you know. Oh, you have it all. Kind
- 22:04Speaker 1: of pinned out like, hey, sorry. You know, my bad.
- 22:07Speaker 1: I would start with usually or something like that. I
- 22:09Speaker 1: don't know, like, because you want it to ease them
- 22:12Speaker 1: into it, you know. Oh, my God, dude.
- 22:16Speaker 2: Did you, like, when you're.
- 22:18Speaker 1: Because we had the same sober date at one time.
- 22:20Speaker 1: You may not even remember it. Yeah. I remember I
- 22:22Speaker 1: went to a meeting one time. This was probably about
- 22:25Speaker 1: four years ago. And it was at a house meeting
- 22:28Speaker 1: in Beverly Hills. Yeah. And, yeah, nice guy. Would let
- 22:33Speaker 1: people use his home even if he wasn't there. And
- 22:37Speaker 1: we had the same, I want to say it was
- 22:39Speaker 1: like October 17th or something, but I could be totally wrong.
- 22:42Speaker 1: And then I lost that at some point. Yeah. And
- 22:45Speaker 1: I did too. Okay. Yeah. You know what, dude, here's
- 22:49Speaker 1: the problem. Tell me what it is. Here's the problem.
- 22:56Speaker 2: And maybe this is true for you.
- 23:00Speaker 3: Right when I get to a fucking year, I'm so
- 23:03Speaker 3: excited that I fucking did something for a year.
- 23:09Speaker 2: That I want to celebrate. Yeah. So I only make
- 23:14Speaker 2: it a year every fucking time because I'm so pumped.
- 23:17Speaker 1: I'm like, fuck yeah. And then I party. And then
- 23:21Speaker 1: I'm like, one. Fuck. Every time, dude. And you have
- 23:26Speaker 1: long arms. So I bet raising your hand in the
- 23:27Speaker 1: meeting sucks the most, dude. If you have like short arms,
- 23:31Speaker 1: people are like, oh, I didn't even see him. But
- 23:33Speaker 1: you fucking throw that fucking giraffe up there and people
- 23:37Speaker 1: are like, God.
- 23:39Speaker 2: Oh, dude.
- 23:40Speaker 1: It is kind of messed up, though, because there is
- 23:42Speaker 1: that level of excitement at hitting one year that makes
- 23:45Speaker 1: you just want to fucking rearrange somebody's fucking asshole, you know? Yes.
- 23:50Speaker 3: Yeah, you want to fucking celebrate because you actually fucking
- 23:55Speaker 3: did something really good.
- 23:56Speaker 1: Yeah. You know, you just fucking, I don't know. You're proud. Yeah.
- 24:02Speaker 1: You want to celebrate. Fuck. Do you remember the first
- 24:06Speaker 1: line of cocaine you ever did or no? A what?
- 24:08Speaker 1: You remember the first time you ever did cocaine or no?
- 24:11Speaker 2: The very first.
- 24:13Speaker 1: Time I did. Fuck. No. Wow. I don't.
- 24:24Speaker 2: I remember the first time I did acid, but I
- 24:26Speaker 2: don't remember the first time I did cocaine.
- 24:29Speaker 1: Yeah, I can't imagine not remembering it, but that's awesome
- 24:32Speaker 1: that you don't. And you probably should if you have.
- 24:35Speaker 1: I think people sometimes probably look at you and be like,
- 24:36Speaker 1: that dude, no way that dude remembers the first time
- 24:38Speaker 1: he did cocaine. Yeah.
- 24:41Speaker 2: Is that a good thing or a bad thing?
- 24:45Speaker 1: Do you remember? Yeah, I remember, dude. I was in
- 24:47Speaker 1: Tucson and this dude who used to bike to work
- 24:50Speaker 1: all the time, right? He was in his 40s and
- 24:52Speaker 1: that was a dead giveaway that he did a lot
- 24:53Speaker 1: of cocaine. My buddy Dennis, he was a busboy like me,
- 24:58Speaker 1: which was also a dead giveaway that this dude was
- 25:01Speaker 1: obviously using his... money and extracurriculars dude and he would
- 25:08Speaker 1: get all coked out and bike to work in the
- 25:10Speaker 1: desert and I'm like this dude's a fucking animal you
- 25:13Speaker 1: know and he had severe sunburn all the time and
- 25:16Speaker 1: yeah and he took me to a party and it
- 25:19Speaker 1: wasn't a party it was just two guys doing cocaine
- 25:20Speaker 1: upstairs somewhere at an apartment complex and I walked in
- 25:27Speaker 1: and this dude comes up from doing some cocaine and
- 25:30Speaker 1: he only had one eye I remember And I was like,
- 25:33Speaker 1: I thought, like, in my head, I was like, oh, fuck,
- 25:35Speaker 1: I wonder if he, like, hit it so hard it just, like,
- 25:38Speaker 1: sucked his eye back into his head. Like, that's what
- 25:41Speaker 1: part of my brain was. And I was kind of scared.
- 25:43Speaker 1: And I was, like, young. And they were all older.
- 25:45Speaker 1: But then, yeah, we started doing some cocaine. And the
- 25:47Speaker 1: guy had a bunch of free oranges there because he,
- 25:51Speaker 1: I guess, had some oranges nearby or something. And, yeah,
- 25:55Speaker 1: I remember eating oranges and doing some blow. And then, yeah,
- 25:59Speaker 1: catching the bus home. So obviously pretty sad. And you'd
- 26:04Speaker 1: think God would be like, hey, this is such a
- 26:06Speaker 1: lame experience. You're not going to want to do this again.
- 26:11Speaker 1: But then it just– like I don't know. There was
- 26:13Speaker 1: times– yeah, I don't want to romanticize it too much
- 26:14Speaker 1: because I don't want somebody going out there and just
- 26:17Speaker 1: getting rid of their family right now.
- 26:18Speaker 3: But it's like– Yeah, there's some kid out there right
- 26:20Speaker 3: now gathering oranges.
- 26:21Speaker 2: I got to do this.
- 26:25Speaker 1: Things are going to change. Yeah. But yeah, then it
- 26:28Speaker 1: just like, sometimes it was fun. I mean, if you
- 26:30Speaker 1: were involved in like sex or hooking up with a woman,
- 26:32Speaker 1: it just added excitement. It had like a dangerous element,
- 26:36Speaker 1: you know. That kind of shit was fun. There's some
- 26:39Speaker 1: famous comedy duos out there that really get it done.

- 29:48Speaker 1: did it?
- 29:49Speaker 2: The first time I ever did it, I was fucking 13.
- 29:54Speaker 1: Damn. I know. I know. Sorry, but that's crazy. Yeah.
- 29:58Speaker 1: And I, Who had it?
- 30:03Speaker 3: This girl from my school, she had it. And fuck,
- 30:11Speaker 3: what a fucking trip, man. That shit was wild. Yeah.
- 30:16Speaker 1: Yes. Yeah.
- 30:20Speaker 3: And you know, immediately you do all the shit that
- 30:23Speaker 3: you heard you're not supposed to do. Like, dude, whatever
- 30:25Speaker 3: you do, don't look.
- 30:26Speaker 1: In the mirror. Right. Where's the mirror?
- 30:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:32Speaker 1: You know, doing all the dumb shit. Watching your skin
- 30:37Speaker 1: fucking kind of breathe a little bit. That shit was
- 30:39Speaker 1: always pretty cool. Yeah, dude.
- 30:41Speaker 3: I remember fucking, it's a long story, but towards the
- 30:47Speaker 3: end of the night, I had like a, you know
- 30:50Speaker 3: that classic Farrah Fawcett poster.
- 30:53Speaker 1: With the big nipples ripping through her bathing suit? Yeah. Yeah.
- 30:58Speaker 1: It's a classic Farrah Fawcett poster.
- 31:01Speaker 2: That's the one, dude.
- 31:03Speaker 1: God, boy.
- 31:04Speaker 3: Yeah, that was on my wall by the side of
- 31:08Speaker 3: my bed. And I just remember looking over at that
- 31:14Speaker 3: and just, I couldn't figure out like, how are those
- 31:23Speaker 3: nipples that fucking hard?
- 31:25Speaker 1: They're like sausages.
- 31:28Speaker 2: And I just stared at them.
- 31:30Speaker 1: I don't know why. Yeah.
- 31:31Speaker 2: Obsessed.
- 31:32Speaker 1: Those fucking NASA hats. Yeah.
- 31:34Speaker 2: Look.
- 31:34Speaker 1: I mean, those bitches are fucking, those things are taking the, hey,
- 31:38Speaker 1: the turkey's done, brother. God damn. Yeah. Wow. Yeah. But
- 31:45Speaker 1: that's crazy. Like, was there a point where you started,
- 31:47Speaker 1: because once you become like as famous as you guys
- 31:50Speaker 1: have become in your lives, you get to meet all
- 31:53Speaker 1: the hottest chicks, dude. Yeah, you kind of do. And
- 31:56Speaker 1: was that weird? Like if you get to meet the
- 31:59Speaker 1: hottest chicks, you're like, holy shit, these are the hottest chicks. Yeah.
- 32:04Speaker 1: You know? It's weird. Because it's definitely, I can easily
- 32:08Speaker 1: tell you what it's like not getting to meet those chicks, right?
- 32:11Speaker 1: I can meet some chicks, right? I'll meet like, but
- 32:14Speaker 1: if you're like, dang, that's the hottest chick, you know?
- 32:18Speaker 1: And then you're just there talking to them, you know?
- 32:20Speaker 1: That had to be crazy. Or will you go with
- 32:24Speaker 1: chicks even early on in your life?
- 32:27Speaker 2: Um, not really, not really.
- 32:30Speaker 3: That's kind of a, kind of like, like, like more
- 32:37Speaker 3: like lonery. Like I've just like, you know, go, I
- 32:42Speaker 3: couldn't wait to get out of school and go home
- 32:44Speaker 3: and play my drums in the garage.
- 32:46Speaker 2: Okay.
- 32:46Speaker 1: Even if it was by yourself. Yeah.
- 32:49Speaker 2: Like I, I wasn't like really chasing skirt, you know?
- 32:53Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. Until later. What about your first kiss? Do
- 32:59Speaker 1: you even remember it or no? I do, dude. Yeah.
- 33:06Speaker 3: I don't know what it is about this, but it
- 33:08Speaker 3: was the most romantic, most, at least.
- 33:12Speaker 1: In my eyes. Yeah.
- 33:15Speaker 3: Fuck, I don't even know. It was this little girl
- 33:19Speaker 3: down the street. We used to play all the time.
- 33:22Speaker 2: We were friends. I think it was probably four.
- 33:27Speaker 1: Oh, damn, you're going to say 15. No. God, I'm
- 33:31Speaker 1: a fucking late bloomer. Yeah, dude. Five. Loner boy. Yeah,
- 33:37Speaker 1: like five.
- 33:39Speaker 3: And we were playing, we were playing like hide and
- 33:42Speaker 3: seek or something in the front yard. And we ran,
- 33:47Speaker 3: I was looking for her and she was around behind
- 33:50Speaker 3: these bushes. And there are these bushes, they had this like,
- 33:54Speaker 3: they had a bunch of these little red berries on
- 33:56Speaker 3: there And I don't know what the fuck came over me.
- 33:59Speaker 3: I was like, I picked a berry and I put it.
- 34:05Speaker 2: I said, let's kiss. And I put the berry in
- 34:08Speaker 2: between our lips. And I don't know what that was
- 34:11Speaker 2: supposed to signify or what that meant.
- 34:16Speaker 1: But I don't know.
- 34:18Speaker 2: I grabbed a berry and.
- 34:19Speaker 3: I just thought it would be the coolest thing ever
- 34:22Speaker 3: to put a berry between our lips.
- 34:25Speaker 1: And she did it.
- 34:26Speaker 2: And we did it, and I'll never forget that shit
- 34:29Speaker 2: for the.
- 34:30Speaker 1: Rest of my life. Kind of romantic, really. It's weird. Yeah,
- 34:34Speaker 1: definitely weird, dude. In my eyes, it was like I
- 34:39Speaker 1: had grown up. I was like, whoa. I just did it. Yeah.
- 34:44Speaker 1: I did the thing. On to the next thing. Yeah. Like,
- 34:48Speaker 1: I don't know what the berries were supposed to. I
- 34:50Speaker 1: think it's also, well, it's kind of a bait thing.
- 34:52Speaker 1: It could be like the apple from like the Bible
- 34:55Speaker 1: or something. You know, who knows? Yeah. You don't know
- 34:58Speaker 1: what little fables get in your head. It could have
- 35:00Speaker 1: been like from that thing where they got the two
- 35:05Speaker 1: animals eating the spaghetti or something. You know what I'm
- 35:07Speaker 1: talking about? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 35:09Speaker 2: Or it could have been like, you know, for all
- 35:12Speaker 2: I know, maybe there was some danger in there.
- 35:14Speaker 1: Like, this is poisonous. Oh, yeah.
- 35:16Speaker 2: A little bit of Romeo and Juliet. But we're going
- 35:18Speaker 2: to pull this off. Like, you know, we're above the poison.
- 35:22Speaker 1: I don't know. Let's take a risk here together. Yes. Oh,
- 35:25Speaker 1: I like that. You in? Here's a five milligram berry.
- 35:27Speaker 1: Let's go. Yeah, dude. Yeah, yeah.
- 35:33Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe that's what my mind was.
- 35:37Speaker 1: You're kind of a romantic, you think, growing up a
- 35:38Speaker 1: little bit? Full on. Yeah. Full on, dude. Just a sucker.
- 35:45Speaker 1: A sucker for a woman that showed you attention kind
- 35:47Speaker 1: of thing? Well, just like, just a sucker for like
- 35:51Speaker 1: surprise for, you know, fuck.
- 35:56Speaker 2: Just romance.
- 35:57Speaker 1: The chase. Oh, yeah. You know, yeah, sure. Yeah, dude.
- 36:02Speaker 2: Fuck.
- 36:02Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, dude. I remember seeing a girl one time
- 36:06Speaker 1: for the first time. I mean, I'd seen my sisters,
- 36:07Speaker 1: but they were kind of whatever, you know? But I
- 36:10Speaker 1: remember just like I was on like, what was it,
- 36:14Speaker 1: a vacation or something? But somebody had driven us somewhere.
- 36:16Speaker 1: You were with your sisters? No. Well, I'd seen my
- 36:20Speaker 1: sisters or whatever, but I'd never had any like– I'd
- 36:24Speaker 1: never looked at them obviously like as girls, I guess, really. Oh, yeah.
- 36:28Speaker 1: They're more like your bros. Yeah. They're just like my
- 36:31Speaker 1: brothers with like tits that I'll never see, which is fine.
- 36:35Speaker 1: Which is fine because that's how God wants it, you know?
- 36:38Speaker 1: I mean, if God wanted you to see your sister's tits,
- 36:41Speaker 1: he'd have made them your cousin. That's what my uncle
- 36:43Speaker 1: used to say all the time. But he was a
- 36:45Speaker 1: fucking weirdo, and he's going to be– I mean, I
- 36:48Speaker 1: don't know if he's doing fine or whatever. But I remember, dude,
- 36:50Speaker 1: I went to Dallas or Houston or somewhere. I don't know.
- 36:53Speaker 1: It might have just been across town. But I went
- 36:56Speaker 1: by this river, and I was just getting something from
- 36:58Speaker 1: this– picking up rocks or just doing some things that
- 37:00Speaker 1: kids do or something, trying to step on a temple.
- 37:03Speaker 1: And I looked over, and there was like a girl there.
- 37:06Speaker 1: And her family might've been like 20 feet away. I
- 37:08Speaker 1: don't know. But in my mind, it was just me
- 37:10Speaker 1: and her. And we was like, yeah. And I was like, whoa. Whoa. Yeah.
- 37:15Speaker 1: And then I was like, oh, she, yeah, I've went
- 37:18Speaker 1: into some negative place, but it was just magical, man.
- 37:20Speaker 1: It was the first time I'd just seen like a girl.
- 37:23Speaker 1: And then when I got a little older. Did you
- 37:26Speaker 1: kiss this girl or no? No, I just looked at her.
- 37:28Speaker 1: You were just like, oh my God.
- 37:30Speaker 2: Wow.
- 37:30Speaker 1: What is it? Yeah. What is that? Yeah. It felt like,
- 37:32Speaker 1: I felt like a net, like a, Like someone who was,
- 37:35Speaker 1: like Christopher Columbus and I just landed on a new land.
- 37:38Speaker 1: It was like, I just never, I was like, oh,
- 37:41Speaker 1: this is so different looking at her. What is this?
- 37:44Speaker 1: Where am I? And then my babysitter gave me a
- 37:48Speaker 1: ride to summer camp one time. This was like when
- 37:49Speaker 1: I was probably 10 or 11. And she reached over
- 37:53Speaker 1: and put the seatbelt on me. And it was like
- 37:56Speaker 1: the first time I'd had like a woman kind of like,
- 37:58Speaker 1: I think, caringly do something for me, it felt like.
- 38:02Speaker 1: And she turned on Bon Jovi. And I was like,
- 38:06Speaker 1: I just want her to play Bon Jovi a million times.
- 38:08Speaker 1: And I kept taking my seatbelt off and she would
- 38:10Speaker 1: put it back on. And I was like, this is
- 38:13Speaker 1: fucking living.
- 38:17Speaker 2: My seatbelt came off again.
- 38:18Speaker 1: Yeah, dude. Oh, every time.
- 38:19Speaker 2: Just put your hand near my dick. Again, please bump
- 38:23Speaker 2: up against it.
- 38:24Speaker 1: I love it, dude. That was pretty. So yeah, some
- 38:28Speaker 1: of that stuff, like, yeah, all that young, I loved
- 38:31Speaker 1: all of that energy, man. That shit was crazy. Yeah, dude,
- 38:36Speaker 1: I'm trying to think of, like, what other skills did
- 38:38Speaker 1: you have before you started playing tunes and stuff? Wait, wait.
- 38:42Speaker 2: I want to know about your first kiss.
- 38:44Speaker 1: Okay, my first kiss, dude, somebody, they had this girl
- 38:48Speaker 1: in her neighborhood that had kind of a bit of
- 38:49Speaker 1: a chipped tooth, kind of. She looked kind of like
- 38:52Speaker 1: Lloyd Christmas. Remember from that movie? I don't know. Like, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 38:58Speaker 1: There he is right there, Lloyd Christmas. Oh, okay. She
- 39:02Speaker 1: had a little bit of that, right? No way, dude. Like,
- 39:05Speaker 1: he's got a real pitch. A full split? No, she's
- 39:09Speaker 1: got kind of a sandwich. No, zoom in more on
- 39:11Speaker 1: that grill piece there, daddy. See how it's kind of
- 39:15Speaker 1: got that sand wedge going?
- 39:16Speaker 2: The notch out?
- 39:17Speaker 1: Yeah. She had a little bit more of a pitching wedge.
- 39:20Speaker 1: It was a little bit more there than Jim Carrey
- 39:22Speaker 1: has here. But some kids locked us, like, in a
- 39:25Speaker 1: room and made us kiss each other. Wait, wait, wait, wait.
- 39:30Speaker 2: Some kids locked you two in a room?
- 39:32Speaker 1: And said, you guys better fucking kiss each other or
- 39:34Speaker 1: you're not coming out. And I think one of them
- 39:36Speaker 1: called us f * * ks or whatever.
- 39:38Speaker 2: I was like, whoa.
- 39:39Speaker 1: What? At least I wanted it well. All right, let
- 39:43Speaker 1: us figure it out a little. But it was just fucking,
- 39:46Speaker 1: you know, just older, mean kids during the summer, just bored,
- 39:49Speaker 1: you know? Oh, no.
- 39:50Speaker 2: So this is a bad experience.
- 39:52Speaker 1: Oh, it's kind of bad. Yeah. I didn't even think
- 39:53Speaker 1: about that. It was kind of bad. Yeah. Oh, fuck.
- 39:56Speaker 1: And then I think after that, I think, oh, dude,
- 39:58Speaker 1: I never thought about it. Yeah. After that, I was
- 39:59Speaker 1: always so nervous around. I was like super nervous around them. Oh, whoa. But,
- 40:05Speaker 1: you know, you figure it out and that's part of
- 40:07Speaker 1: your deal, you know? Yeah. Yeah. You figure it out
- 40:10Speaker 1: and that's part of your deal. Yeah. Was it hard
- 40:13Speaker 1: for you to like be in love since your life
- 40:14Speaker 1: was going that fast? Like, what was that like?
- 40:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:20Speaker 1: Difficult.
- 40:24Speaker 2: I just always say long distance love is just, it's
- 40:31Speaker 2: extremely fucking difficult to keep a relationship when you're constantly
- 40:37Speaker 2: fucking going. It's nearly impossible.
- 40:42Speaker 3: To be successful at it for a few years here
- 40:48Speaker 3: and a few years there, pretty rare.
- 40:52Speaker 1: Did you have any of your marriage? Cause you've been
- 40:53Speaker 1: married a few times. Yeah.
- 40:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:54Speaker 1: Did you have any that, uh, you felt like you
- 40:57Speaker 1: had to go back and make an amends to or
- 40:58Speaker 1: something like that? Are you still on good speaking terms
- 41:00Speaker 1: with your ex-wives and stuff or is it?
- 41:02Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, I'm cool with all of them.
- 41:04Speaker 1: We're cool. Um, you know, it's all good. Did any
- 41:10Speaker 1: of it happen so fast? You're like, gee, I don't
- 41:12Speaker 1: even know what happened. Cause I can only imagine this,
- 41:14Speaker 1: that your life, like a lot of it just felt
- 41:16Speaker 1: like it went so, cause it just, you know, things
- 41:18Speaker 1: get going fast and, Like my life sometimes gets a
- 41:20Speaker 1: little fast. I'm like, I don't even know what's going
- 41:22Speaker 1: on anymore. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Shit flies, man.
- 41:28Speaker 3: When you spend most of your time just hanging on,
- 41:32Speaker 3: you're like, dude, fuck, slow down. What is happening here?
- 41:37Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. Was it, what were your parents like? Were
- 41:42Speaker 1: they pretty proud of you and stuff? Or what was
- 41:43Speaker 1: that kind of relationship like with them? Was it weird
- 41:46Speaker 1: becoming famous and stuff? And then like. Um, you know what?
- 41:51Speaker 2: They were super, super supportive. Um, I guess, you know, I'm,
- 41:58Speaker 2: I'm really lucky. Um, both of them were.
- 42:01Speaker 3: Extremely fucking, uh, supportive. Um, you know, I, go ahead.
- 42:07Speaker 1: No, I think, yeah. Cause I think sometimes it's like, um,
- 42:11Speaker 1: I don't know. Sometimes there's a weird thing about fame
- 42:14Speaker 1: or popularity where it's like you almost feel like you
- 42:16Speaker 1: don't belong to you or anyone anymore a little bit.
- 42:19Speaker 1: Does that make any sense to you? There's so much
- 42:23Speaker 1: you out there that you just belong to everybody. Yeah.
- 42:29Speaker 2: I don't know what I'm talking about. Yeah, no.
- 42:31Speaker 1: Fuck, man. We should have never talked. Neither one of
- 42:33Speaker 1: us knows what we're saying.
- 42:35Speaker 3: Damn, dude. Those guys are on some other shit, bro.
- 42:42Speaker 3: They'll rewind and catch up later. Don't be the mustard,
- 42:46Speaker 3: catch up.
- 42:50Speaker 1: Well, that's the fucking dumbest joke. That's awesome. I love
- 42:52Speaker 1: that one. Don't be the mustard, catch up. Dude, my
- 42:55Speaker 1: favorite joke I ever heard is, what's the last thing
- 42:59Speaker 1: you want to hear when you're giving a blowjob to
- 43:01Speaker 1: Willie Nelson? I'm not Willie Nelson. Oh, dude. Oh, dude.
- 43:09Speaker 1: That'd be the fucking worst. What the fuck? That'd be
- 43:14Speaker 1: the worst to be giving a blowjob to Willie fucking Nelson, bro. Dude.
- 43:18Speaker 1: And he's like, I'm not Willie Nelson. Who the fuck
- 43:22Speaker 1: are you, dude? Oh, my God. Jesus, dude. Dude, what
- 43:32Speaker 1: did I... Oh, I read somewhere that you used to
- 43:33Speaker 1: do ballerining when you were young. Is that true?
- 43:36Speaker 2: Yeah, dude.
- 43:38Speaker 1: Do you remember it?
- 43:39Speaker 3: Tap dancing and ballet. I do remember it. I mean,
- 43:49Speaker 3: the shit was cool.
- 43:51Speaker 1: Tap dance is still pretty fucking cool, I think.
- 43:53Speaker 2: Tap dancing was fucking rad because you're essentially making fucking beats.
- 43:58Speaker 1: Yeah, you're basically drumming with your feet.
- 44:02Speaker 2: It's rhythmic, and it was right up my alley. I
- 44:05Speaker 2: loved it.
- 44:07Speaker 3: And then my sister was taking ballet and I went
- 44:12Speaker 3: one time and I was like, and it's fucking loaded
- 44:16Speaker 3: with fucking just beautiful girls. And immediately I'm like, oh,
- 44:20Speaker 3: I want to do this. So I dove right into
- 44:23Speaker 3: both tap dancing and ballet. And then that day happened when,
- 44:29Speaker 3: you know, it was like time for the big recital
- 44:31Speaker 3: and your picture's in the paper, the local paper. And
- 44:34Speaker 3: I'm in fucking chaos. tights, dancing with this beautiful girl.
- 44:40Speaker 3: And the next day at school, man, it was just like, dude,
- 44:43Speaker 3: you are a, what are you a?
- 44:46Speaker 2: Like what the fuck?
- 44:47Speaker 3: And I quit, I quit dancing the fucking next day.
- 44:51Speaker 3: I was just like, I couldn't handle the peer pressure.
- 44:55Speaker 3: But I'm like, wait a second. all my friends at
- 44:59Speaker 3: school are calling me, you know, fucking gay, but I'm like,
- 45:04Speaker 3: you all are fucking spanking each other in the locker
- 45:07Speaker 3: room and whipping each other with towels. Like, I don't know,
- 45:11Speaker 3: I don't know where you're getting the gay shit from
- 45:14Speaker 3: because I'm here with these girls. This is what's happening
- 45:19Speaker 3: over here. Fuck you guys. I can't believe I quit.
- 45:23Speaker 3: I let them fucking, I let.
- 45:25Speaker 1: Them, Dictate it. Oh, yeah. So many kids do. But
- 45:29Speaker 1: I couldn't handle the peer pressure, man. Dude, if you'd
- 45:31Speaker 1: have done ballet with a dip in, though, they would
- 45:33Speaker 1: have fucking came around, I bet. That would have been it, dude.
- 45:37Speaker 1: If you'd have put a fucking big third baseman's chew
- 45:40Speaker 1: in your mouth, dude, they'd have been like, this motherfucker's rocking, dude.
- 45:44Speaker 2: That's what I should have done.
- 45:45Speaker 1: It is so true.
- 45:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 45:46Speaker 1: It was like so much was dictated by what the
- 45:48Speaker 1: neighborhood kids felt, man. Yeah. And the easiest thing for
- 45:51Speaker 1: somebody to do is to call you a bitch, call
- 45:53Speaker 1: you a fuck. I'd call you a pussy. Just something
- 45:55Speaker 1: to kind of shut you down. Yes. It's kind of crazy.
- 45:57Speaker 1: That's how so much of art gets kind of really stymied.
- 46:00Speaker 1: But I think in your condition, it seems like the
- 46:03Speaker 1: rhythm found a way out of your fucking body. It
- 46:05Speaker 1: was like, oh, it's got to come out of here. Yeah.
- 46:07Speaker 1: You know? Absolutely, man. Yeah, it's going to come out
- 46:11Speaker 1: of my hands or my wiener eventually, too. Yeah, that
- 46:15Speaker 1: thing even had a pay-per-view. Dude, I love this, bro.
- 46:19Speaker 1: When I was a kid, you know what I used
- 46:20Speaker 1: to watch? Dude, I won't even lie about it. Shirley
- 46:23Speaker 1: Temple movies, dude.
- 46:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 46:25Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Bro, I'll tell you the craziest story, dude.
- 46:29Speaker 1: I went in. It was like one of the first
- 46:30Speaker 1: auditions I ever got when I got to L.A. They're like, Art,
- 46:33Speaker 1: you need to sing a song for.
- 46:34Speaker 2: Us, dude.
- 46:35Speaker 1: No way. I swear to God, bro. And I think
- 46:39Speaker 1: I'd just been on something where I'd been watching some
- 46:41Speaker 1: fucking S. Temple, dude. Dude, I got to see this.
- 46:46Speaker 1: You're like, no, no. And I sang some song from
- 46:50Speaker 1: something she did. And these people looked at me like, God,
- 46:54Speaker 1: this is just something uncomfortable here. Even them, even they
- 46:57Speaker 1: were like liberal probably. And they were all closeted or
- 47:00Speaker 1: recloseted or whatever. It had been like, you know, they
- 47:04Speaker 1: were probably, you know, whatever section.
- 47:08Speaker 2: It was an audition, right?
- 47:09Speaker 1: Yeah. And they're just like, we need you to sing now. Oh, dude.
- 47:12Speaker 1: And I just sang a damn Shirley Temple song, dude.
- 47:16Speaker 2: No fucking way. What the hell were you auditioning for?
- 47:21Speaker 1: And fuck them, bro. That's what y'all get, bro. Y'all
- 47:25Speaker 1: don't want to fuck with some real shit. Y'all ain't
- 47:28Speaker 1: getting any more of it, dog. So that's that, dude.
- 47:33Speaker 1: But yeah, so you went in there, you think, also
- 47:35Speaker 1: to meet the ladies, huh?
- 47:36Speaker 3: Oh, hands down. Hands down. I went in and watched
- 47:40Speaker 3: my sister perform. And in her class, I was just like, oh,
- 47:45Speaker 3: what am I doing?
- 47:46Speaker 1: Yeah. Why am I not here? Yeah. I want to
- 47:48Speaker 1: be doing this. Yeah, dude. Oh, that's the best, man. Yeah.
- 47:53Speaker 1: What about your first time having sex? Do you ever
- 47:55Speaker 1: remember it or no? First, yes. Oh, yeah. Was it
- 48:01Speaker 1: exciting or scary, do you think?
- 48:02Speaker 2: It was both. Yeah. Yeah, it was all, it was everything,
- 48:08Speaker 2: you know, like all kinds of crazy shit.
- 48:10Speaker 1: Was it a surprise or was it planned?
- 48:12Speaker 3: Going down for the first time. I guess it was,
- 48:17Speaker 3: I guess it was kind of planned.
- 48:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 48:21Speaker 2: It was with my next door neighbor. Yeah, damn, dude,
- 48:26Speaker 2: you didn't even, you.
- 48:27Speaker 1: Couldn't walk down the street without somebody trying to fuck you, huh?
- 48:32Speaker 1: Oh my God.
- 48:32Speaker 2: Come on, dude.
- 48:33Speaker 1: I'm, Brenda. Brenda. Wow. Yeah. I can say the first
- 48:39Speaker 1: name right. Totally did.
- 48:42Speaker 3: And dude, and it was my, and my, we're talking
- 48:45Speaker 3: about my sister earlier, my sister's best friend.
- 48:49Speaker 1: Like best friend. I bring Brenda into.
- 48:57Speaker 2: My dad built like a room inside my.
- 49:03Speaker 1: Like a bomb shelter or something? Of the garage.
- 49:06Speaker 3: Like a soundproof room where I could play drums.
- 49:08Speaker 1: Really? And not like bum him out.
- 49:10Speaker 2: Yeah, totally.
- 49:11Speaker 3: So I had this like little like box inside the garage,
- 49:16Speaker 3: a little soundproof room.
- 49:18Speaker 1: And it was like my fucking 40s. you know?
- 49:21Speaker 3: And I was like, Oh man, I, I really liked
- 49:24Speaker 3: this chick. I want to like, I want to fucking
- 49:27Speaker 3: bang this girl. And the, and I, so I brought
- 49:30Speaker 3: her into my, like my like spot and turn the
- 49:34Speaker 3: lights out.
- 49:36Speaker 1: Was it completely dark? Yeah. Wow.
- 49:39Speaker 2: Completely dark.
- 49:41Speaker 1: I don't know why, but. Gosh, man. But. It's adventurous.
- 49:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 49:47Speaker 3: And we're fucking going at it. You know, there's all
- 49:51Speaker 3: that weird shit that's happening. And you're like, whoa, this
- 49:54Speaker 3: feels crazy.
- 49:54Speaker 1: What's happening? What's going on?
- 49:57Speaker 3: She's, you know, all the feelings are going. And my
- 50:01Speaker 3: fucking sister walks in. And I'm fucking her best friend.
- 50:06Speaker 3: And she just goes, ah! And she runs and tells
- 50:13Speaker 3: my mom and my parents.
- 50:15Speaker 1: And we're- Did they come in the room then?
- 50:19Speaker 3: Everybody's in trouble. We get put on restriction. We're not
- 50:23Speaker 3: allowed to see each other. It was a great and
- 50:28Speaker 3: terrible experience.
- 50:30Speaker 1: Because Romeo and Juliet almost, because you couldn't see each
- 50:32Speaker 1: other anymore. Yeah. And- We could see each other from
- 50:36Speaker 1: our bedrooms. No. And I'd just be like, hey, hey.
- 50:41Speaker 1: I'm a dreamer. Yeah, dude. That song comes in. I swear,
- 50:45Speaker 1: out of a fucking movie. Oh, sweetie. It literally just
- 50:50Speaker 1: came into my fucking, just seeing the kids just waving. Yeah, dude. Gosh.
- 50:57Speaker 2: Yeah, kind of.
- 50:58Speaker 1: Without you. It was both. It was all of it. Yeah.
- 51:02Speaker 1: Do you remember your first? yeah dude I got caught
- 51:04Speaker 1: into some bullshit in town and oh dude the crazy
- 51:08Speaker 1: the first time I tried to get a BJ right
- 51:11Speaker 1: so there was this girl who was doing BJ's right
- 51:14Speaker 1: and she was like the funniest girl in town like
- 51:17Speaker 1: she always made me laugh and stuff like that and
- 51:20Speaker 1: she and I liked each other oh cool and then
- 51:24Speaker 1: but she had like seen somebody else or something and
- 51:26Speaker 1: then she had started doing BJ's and I was like
- 51:30Speaker 1: but then And then she liked me and I was like,
- 51:32Speaker 1: oh my God, dude, what if I'm the guy who
- 51:36Speaker 1: like gets a BJ amongst our people? I was like,
- 51:39Speaker 1: I just don't even know if I can handle that.
- 51:41Speaker 1: Like people being like, hell, it was the BJ or whatever. Oh,
- 51:44Speaker 1: you're getting fucking BJs now, you little pussy. Just shit
- 51:47Speaker 1: like that, you know what I'm saying? Just fucking, like
- 51:50Speaker 1: you just can never win with humans, right? And so-
- 51:54Speaker 1: People suck. Oh, it's unbelievable, huh? And so I remember
- 51:59Speaker 1: like we were, it was some girl's birthday party and
- 52:03Speaker 1: we had planned to go meet behind a tree. Right.
- 52:06Speaker 1: And so she went over there and the tree she picked,
- 52:09Speaker 1: it was a pretty narrow tree.
- 52:11Speaker 2: Right.
- 52:12Speaker 1: And so she was going to, um, I was going
- 52:14Speaker 1: to receive the BJ right behind the tree. Right. So
- 52:17Speaker 1: we go back there, we're kind of talking and it's
- 52:19Speaker 1: fucking so uncommon, like all my fucking blood is literally like,
- 52:24Speaker 1: it's kind of hiding from my penis. Cause my blood,
- 52:27Speaker 1: my blood's like, when do we go send us in?
- 52:29Speaker 1: You know, it was like, stay up here. We got
- 52:32Speaker 1: to talk. We're good. And I'm like scoping things out.
- 52:36Speaker 1: And it was like a dog, like fucking in the distance, just,
- 52:39Speaker 1: you know, just under a lamplight or whatever. And there's
- 52:41Speaker 1: some kids you can hear playing games and it's a birthday.
- 52:45Speaker 1: And then she just starts BJ and me, dude. And
- 52:48Speaker 1: I'm like, and I'm so nervous, bro. Cause I always
- 52:51Speaker 1: would get super nervous around women when I was young.
- 52:54Speaker 1: And then the girl's mom comes out. Oh no. And
- 52:59Speaker 1: the tree wasn't that wide. And I could just imagine,
- 53:02Speaker 1: I could see what the mom was seeing. She was
- 53:04Speaker 1: seeing like me kind of standing like this. And I,
- 53:08Speaker 1: and the girl like low, but then like, you know,
- 53:11Speaker 1: the tree was kind of blocking like the actual act.
- 53:14Speaker 1: And I just remember putting my fucking hands up like this.
- 53:18Speaker 1: And just looking at the mom, like I didn't have
- 53:20Speaker 1: anything to do, like trying to be like, I don't
- 53:22Speaker 1: have anything to do with it. What does this mean?
- 53:24Speaker 1: I don't know. I'm not doing anything. Because I do like,
- 53:28Speaker 1: these are the only two hands she could see. So like,
- 53:33Speaker 1: but it was that third hand, brother, that party hand, bro. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh,
- 53:38Speaker 1: my God. God. Had you had sex? No. Before?
- 53:42Speaker 2: This is your first time?
- 53:43Speaker 1: Yeah. First sexual? First sexual real encounter, dude. I touched
- 53:48Speaker 1: a girl's tits in the movies one time watching that movie, Pumpkinhead.
- 53:51Speaker 1: Remember that scary movie? No. It was called Pumpkinhead. It
- 53:55Speaker 1: was real scary.
- 53:56Speaker 2: Oh, boy.
- 53:56Speaker 1: And I touched a girl's breast, and she had very
- 53:59Speaker 1: hard breasts. She always kind of built like a fella, really,
- 54:02Speaker 1: but pretty cute. And dude, some kid in pumpkin head
- 54:08Speaker 1: got a hand job. Part of it ejaculated onto my
- 54:11Speaker 1: fucking arm. This kid, Chad, when I was a kid,
- 54:13Speaker 1: forgot about that. No way. Yeah. And he died in
- 54:16Speaker 1: a car accident years later. Oh, what the hell? He
- 54:19Speaker 1: was driving, dude. He was changing a CD out of
- 54:22Speaker 1: his CD player. He put a CD into his mouth
- 54:24Speaker 1: to put the other one in and he fucking hit something.
- 54:26Speaker 1: And it just like, no fucking way. Forgot all about that, man.
- 54:34Speaker 1: It was crazy. Whoa. But yeah, but then I ended
- 54:38Speaker 1: up having sex behind a bowling alley in our town
- 54:40Speaker 1: like a couple years after that, like three or four
- 54:44Speaker 1: years later.
- 54:45Speaker 2: What happened? Okay, what happened?
- 54:47Speaker 1: Me and this girl just like she had been having
- 54:49Speaker 1: sex and stuff and I was like wanted to have
- 54:51Speaker 1: sex or whatever and so we just tried to find
- 54:53Speaker 1: a place we could meet up that was like near
- 54:55Speaker 1: where we lived and we went back behind this bowling
- 54:58Speaker 1: alley called Tiffany Lanes and it's closed for renovations right now, but...
- 55:04Speaker 1: How do you know that? Because I was there not
- 55:06Speaker 1: long ago. Oh, shit. And my buddies in there, he
- 55:09Speaker 1: said- Returned to the scene of the crime, dude. He
- 55:11Speaker 1: said they're remodeling it. What the fuck? Yeah, there you
- 55:17Speaker 1: go right there. Tiffany Lane's. Look at the Google reviews.
- 55:19Speaker 1: Go to Google reviews on there. Tiffany Lane's. There you go, dude.
- 55:23Speaker 1: In Louisiana? Yeah, pretty awesome, dude. Whoa, dude. Oh, I'm
- 55:27Speaker 1: here because of the Yovan who lost something precious at
- 55:29Speaker 1: this bowling alley so long ago. All right. Oh my God, dude.
- 55:33Speaker 1: But that's kind of crazy. So yeah, I'm excited that
- 55:35Speaker 1: they are redoing it. I'll go back. But yes, kids
- 55:40Speaker 1: were throwing rocks at us and stuff too, dude. It
- 55:42Speaker 1: was crazy.
- 55:43Speaker 2: Wow.
- 55:44Speaker 1: And so, yeah, it was hard to keep an erection
- 55:45Speaker 1: with like rocks coming, like rocks, you know, hitting off
- 55:48Speaker 1: a sheet metal and stuff like that. But I was
- 55:51Speaker 1: just so young that nothing could stop you, you know? Yeah.
- 55:55Speaker 1: And then I remember, yeah, I went into some girl's
- 55:58Speaker 1: bedroom in my neighborhood and And she seemed like an
- 56:02Speaker 1: adult because she smoked cigarettes. And she seemed like she
- 56:05Speaker 1: was 40. You know, she was one year older. But
- 56:08Speaker 1: just because she smoked and she smelled like cigarettes. Oh,
- 56:10Speaker 1: older woman. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, shit. And then, yeah. But
- 56:15Speaker 1: right when we started to hook up, I was so
- 56:17Speaker 1: nervous I couldn't get an erection. And then her mom
- 56:18Speaker 1: thankfully came and busted in on us. Oh, jeez. Oh.
- 56:23Speaker 1: And I was like, this has got to stop. I
- 56:25Speaker 1: just yelled. I said what the mom was going to say.
- 56:27Speaker 1: I thought maybe if I said what she was going
- 56:29Speaker 1: to say. Like it would adjust the dynamic or whatever,
- 56:33Speaker 1: you know? I was like, this has got to stop.
- 56:37Speaker 1: I was like, I like this guy. I think that's
- 56:41Speaker 1: where I was at, you know?
- 56:42Speaker 2: Oh, my God.

- 58:11Speaker 1: heard somewhere, and you can deny this, and it doesn't
- 58:15Speaker 1: matter either, but you would go on dates with women.
- 58:18Speaker 1: You would get paid to go on dates with women.
- 58:20Speaker 2: Yes.
- 58:20Speaker 1: Was that a real thing that happened in your life? Yes.
- 58:22Speaker 2: Yes.
- 58:24Speaker 1: Yes. And do you have to have like a overseer
- 58:26Speaker 1: for that? Like a pimp or something for it?
- 58:28Speaker 3: There was this, there was this lady that was in
- 58:31Speaker 3: our apartment complex. She was like a madame.
- 58:34Speaker 1: Yeah. And she was, she was running, you know, uh, her,
- 58:41Speaker 1: her thing.
- 58:42Speaker 2: And, uh, yeah.
- 58:44Speaker 3: Get paid to go out with these older women and just,
- 58:50Speaker 3: just sit there and have dinner with them. Or it,
- 58:53Speaker 3: They wanted to fuck, do that too. Did that for
- 58:59Speaker 3: about a year or so, about a year or two.
- 59:01Speaker 1: Was there good money in it?
- 59:03Speaker 2: Yeah. It's kind of crazy.
- 59:06Speaker 1: And that was in LA? I was a hooker. Yeah.
- 59:09Speaker 1: Kind of. I guess.
- 59:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 59:11Speaker 1: Fuck yeah, dude.
- 59:13Speaker 2: A male escort?
- 59:14Speaker 1: I don't know. Hooker's better, I think. What the fuck's
- 59:16Speaker 1: a dip?
- 59:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 59:17Speaker 1: Hooker sounds like you don't have insurance, but you're still.
- 59:19Speaker 2: Going to do it.
- 59:19Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? Male escort sounds like you're
- 59:23Speaker 1: at least applying for some sort of government aid with it,
- 59:26Speaker 1: I feel like. Yeah. The one we refer to as
- 59:29Speaker 1: a male escort gigolo, it says, I'm a female customer's
- 59:32Speaker 1: rent boy hustler. Do you remember any of the dates
- 59:35Speaker 1: or not? Yeah, sure. Was it embarrassing or were you
- 59:42Speaker 1: prideful about it kind of?
- 59:43Speaker 3: Well, you know, if the lady was, you know, if
- 59:50Speaker 3: the lady was like an older lady where you're like, whoa,
- 59:53Speaker 3: I hope this is just dinner, you know, you're stoked.
- 59:58Speaker 1: Right, you're like, ah, you start coughing a little.
- 1:00:01Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm just going to have dinner and drinks and
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: just entertain her.
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: Yeah. Say my wiener's broken or something. And that's it. Yeah,
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: you'd get stoked when that would happen. But sometimes they
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: wanted more? Yeah, and sometimes they wanted more. And you're like, oh, man.
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: That part's not fun. Because, I don't know, like fucking
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: when you're not into it.
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: It's horrible. It's a weird. It's a weird thing. Yeah,
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: it's kind of like when you have to dance at
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: a wedding, but you know they're going to get divorced
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: or whatever. Oh, dude.
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: You're like, oh.
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: All right, I'll go out there. One song. Okay, fine.
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: That's tough. Oh, my God.
- 1:00:46Speaker 3: Dude.
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: Fuck, man. Sometimes you get some hot chicks, though? Yeah, sometimes. Yeah. Sure.
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: Yeah. That's cool. Yeah, dude. One time there was a
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: casting director and I invited her to see a comedy show, right? Yeah.
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: Because I was like, oh, she's going to maybe show.
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: But she was also really cool. We kind of hit
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: it off. So we're kind of like friends. But there
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: wasn't a, the place I invited her to, I had
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: the night wrong. And so she came anyway. And then,
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: so we're just, she's like, we walk upstairs to where
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: the show is going to be. It was over on
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: La Cienega or La Brea, room five, this place is called.
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: And we, and it's, there's not there. And I'm like, what?
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: She came. And I'm like, I was like, well, let
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: me at least get you dinner, you know? And so
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: we sit downstairs, we're eating. She gives me like half
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: of a weed cookie. I'd never had a weed cookie before.
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: So I ate it. And like 20 minutes later, dude,
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: I didn't know. I didn't know if this was my wife.
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: I didn't know who this person was. I was like,
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: am I fucking married? And we're out to dinner right now.
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: And it's our anniversary. I couldn't figure out what was
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: going on. Wow. And I tried to kiss her. What's that?
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: I tried to kiss her, you know, like, I'm having
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: a beautiful time with you tonight or something. She's like,
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: what in the fuck is going on? Oh, my God. Oh,
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: my God, dude. Not your wife. Whoa. Ugh, that was horrible, bro.
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: And then I laid in my bed for two days.
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: I missed my birthday. That was so high, dude.
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: Jesus. Ugh, that was bad.
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: Oh, my God, dude. When y'all started traveling and getting
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: drugs and stuff, was it hard to have sex on drugs, though? Like,
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: I don't see how you could do drugs and screw,
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: you know?
- 1:02:26Speaker 3: Yeah, I was, like what you said earlier, I'd end
- 1:02:32Speaker 3: up just going back to my room, my hotel room,
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: mostly by myself.
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: Really?
- 1:02:39Speaker 3: As soon as you start fucking doing cocaine, I'm like,
- 1:02:42Speaker 3: I'd rather just party with me tonight.
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: You know? I don't have to listen to any bullshit.
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: I don't have to lie.
- 1:02:51Speaker 3: Just me and you are going to get, we're going
- 1:02:54Speaker 3: to go really fast in this room and hang out.
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: You do that a lot.
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: The second, yeah, I would just, I'd rather just be
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: by myself.
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: Yeah. I wonder what that is. Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: I would get real self-conscious if I was doing coke
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: around other people too, I think. It wasn't fun that
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: much for me. Oh. I knew I just wanted to
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: do more coke. I didn't really want to. hear about
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: whatever was happening with your life that much.
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: We call it lying powder.
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: Because let's get together and fucking sit around and lie
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: to each other for a couple hours.
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: Why not?
- 1:03:37Speaker 3: You know, you're sitting there and you're doing blow with
- 1:03:41Speaker 3: a bunch of people and all of a sudden you're
- 1:03:42Speaker 3: making all these plans.
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: Yeah, tomorrow, man, we're going to fucking talk. We're going
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: to go on the fucking lake. We're going to fucking
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: kayak way forward and fuck whatever. And it never happens. Never.
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: You just, you know. Yeah.
- 1:03:57Speaker 3: So I don't want to get together and just lie
- 1:04:01Speaker 3: to each other. I'd rather just go back to my
- 1:04:03Speaker 3: room and fuck those chicks.
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: You know. Another time. Yeah. In the future. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, dude. Oh, cocaine? Well,
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: it'll make you give your email address to a dolphin, dude.
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: It just fucking... You'll fucking tell him. You'll be like, yeah,
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: let's keep it. Let's holler at each other. We're going
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: to fucking... And he's like... All right, dude. You bring
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: your voice. I'll bring my voice. Email me. You're like,
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: what is even... In the morning, you're like, who the
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: fuck is this? Oh, my God. Stay away from me. God. Dude.
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: That would be scary. How bad was it, like, when
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: addiction hit you guys' band and stuff? Was that pretty crazy?
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: Yeah, dude, when it.
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: When you hear stories about it, you know, you see, like,
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: you know, in the documentaries and stuff, you see, you know,
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: and you read about different stories of people going through it.
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: And I know you've gone through it.
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: But, like, how... Was that one of the things that
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: had the biggest effect on a band? Yeah.
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: Like, when you're... you're looking around and you're seeing the
- 1:05:08Speaker 3: guys in your band, everybody's this close from not waking
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: up again. You know that kind of shit? And you've
- 1:05:20Speaker 3: reached a level of like doing crazy shit. Like when
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: you're shooting fucking Jack Daniels in your arm because you
- 1:05:33Speaker 3: ran out of heroin, when you could just drink the
- 1:05:36Speaker 3: fucking Jack and be like, oh, and just fucking drink.
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: We're out of heroin, but I mean, if we shoot it,
- 1:05:43Speaker 3: it'll be fucking better. It's just alcohol. Like when you're
- 1:05:47Speaker 3: doing dumb shit like that, we're like, I think it's,
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: someone's going to die here soon. Like we should all,
- 1:05:54Speaker 3: and we did it as a band. We were like,
- 1:05:56Speaker 3: you know, we'd take handfuls of fucking halcyons they were
- 1:06:00Speaker 3: called and, And then we'd fucking and go that and
- 1:06:04Speaker 3: go out for the night. But those are all, these
- 1:06:06Speaker 3: are all fucking like downers and sleeping pills. So like,
- 1:06:10Speaker 3: who does that? You're, you're, we're doing such dumb, dangerous
- 1:06:14Speaker 3: shit that everybody was like, all right, that's it. We're
- 1:06:19Speaker 3: all going to do this together. And we just, it
- 1:06:22Speaker 3: was like 89. We all went to fucking rehab.
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: Together, different rehabs. But, um, but yeah. Where'd you go?
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: Which one?
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: I went to this place called Cottonwood.
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: Oh, in Tucson? Yeah, dude. Yeah, dude. Tucson is fucking retarded, dude.
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: Shout out Tucson, dude. I used to live in Tucson. Yeah, Tucson. Tucson.
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: Out in the middle of nowhere, dude. Crazy. That's where
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: I did my first Coke with those guys with the oranges, dude.
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: Yes. Yeah.
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. Tucson is the first place I saw a
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: school bus. Somebody had cut the top off of it
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: and was fucking driving it, dude.
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: That's Tucson. Bear down, dude. In the fucking desert, dude. Yeah. Oh, yeah, bro.
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: That's people. Oh, you'll do some coke and just eat
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: somebody's ass through a dream catcher out there, dude. It's
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: intense out there, dude. A lot of Zodiac killers and
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: missing people out there, dude. It is. Dude. Oh, you're
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: praying to see the next streetlight out there because sometimes
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: it's like far distance between the streetlights out there. Yes.
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: Was that scary the first time you went or what
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: was that like? Are we like, I got to be here? Yeah.
- 1:07:30Speaker 3: No, I wanted, you know, I'm sure it's very different
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: to someone who doesn't want to be there. We were all,
- 1:07:36Speaker 3: everybody wanted to.
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: You're like, the only way we can do it is
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: to actually go somewhere. Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: To actually go somewhere.
- 1:07:42Speaker 3: And if we all do it together, our chances of
- 1:07:45Speaker 3: fucking survival are going to be a lot better.
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:07:47Speaker 3: You know, like, you know, sometimes you just need a fucking,
- 1:07:50Speaker 3: a bro, you know, to just be doing it with
- 1:07:53Speaker 3: you oh yeah fucking you know what i mean so
- 1:07:56Speaker 3: all of us did it together and we were like
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: oh fuck we can pull this we can do anything
- 1:08:01Speaker 3: yeah you know it's cool.
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: And was it fancy was it a fancier one kind
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: of no no it's just a regular kind of rehab
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: it's one kind of cool thing about rehab you can
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: go to them and it's just kind of like a
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: mix of all types of people fucking wild right oh
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: they're totally wild i went to just uh you're.
- 1:08:18Speaker 3: Hearing other people's stories going like you know, maybe I'm
- 1:08:22Speaker 3: not that bad. You're talking yourself into fucking like bail
- 1:08:27Speaker 3: and rehab.
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: Fuck. These people are fucked up. Let me out of here.
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: You're like, I could be mayor in a month. Fuck.
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: We haven't even got the family day yet. This is nuts.
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: Having a bro in it is the biggest thing, man.
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: I got one, a couple of buddies in Nashville and
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: here too. It's like having some boys in and it's like,
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: Just so you can check in with each other. You
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: keep rocking for each other. And being sober is nice,
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: you know. It's nice, but it's hard.
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: Man, it is fun.
- 1:09:00Speaker 3: Is really nice, man. Everything just is so much fucking
- 1:09:05Speaker 3: easier and so much, I don't know, just.
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: Less drama, dude. Yeah. Less drama. Yeah, and you can
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: just wake up and be like, okay, I can do
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: this today.
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: You know, you're not having to sleep in, hide, pray
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: for Gatorade or whatever. Pray for Gatorade. God, dude. All
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: that kind of shit was the worst. Oh, my God.
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: Was there ever a show where you guys just couldn't
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: even go on because you were too fucked up or no? No, never.
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: That's unbelievable to me.
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: Yeah, that is pretty wild because we'd get pretty fucked
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: up before the show.
- 1:09:36Speaker 3: But not fucked up enough to where you couldn't, you know,
- 1:09:42Speaker 3: to where you couldn't fucking.
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: Bring it, you know?
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: Because if you, I don't know.
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: Well, y'all's songs, that's one thing I was thinking about
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: was you guys' music was high energy. So it was
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: like some groups, there's different, you know, but you guys were,
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: I mean, every one, it almost starts out with the riff,
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: even some of the ballads. So you're like, God, you
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: had to be able to show up for it.
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: Yeah, you can't.
- 1:10:07Speaker 3: And yeah, especially like drumming, dude, that shit's so fucking physical.
- 1:10:12Speaker 3: If you are feeling, or if you're fucked up, drums
- 1:10:18Speaker 3: doesn't work.
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: Really? It just doesn't work. You're the fucking heartbeat of
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: the machine. Yeah.
- 1:10:27Speaker 2: And if you are fucked up, this whole program's fucked up. Yeah.
- 1:10:31Speaker 3: You know, that's... So you have to keep it together enough.
- 1:10:35Speaker 3: I mean, there's times where you have, you know, had
- 1:10:38Speaker 3: a little too much, and you're thinking, oh, man, I'm
- 1:10:42Speaker 3: fucking smoking right now. I'm crushing this shit.
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: And you fucking watch a videotape back, and you're like,
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: What the fuck was that dude?
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:10:53Speaker 3: Now, you know, you can't do that because that's fucked up.
- 1:10:57Speaker 3: But you're thinking you're just murdering.
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: That's happened a few times. And then you go, okay,
- 1:11:06Speaker 2: that doesn't work.
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: Yeah. That doesn't work.
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: Um, yeah. Cause, uh, in the dirt, there's a lot
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: of stuff where you guys are just partying so hard.
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: I mean, obviously they do that for cameras, you know,
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: or for films and to make it look cool.
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: Did you feel cool about the dirt?
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: Dude, I was so pumped because it's so raw and
- 1:11:22Speaker 2: so fucking real.
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: And I can't.
- 1:11:27Speaker 3: Believe they smashed everything into an hour and a half.
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: That's a lot. Yeah, they should have made it 10 episodes.
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: It could have been a fucking miniseries.
- 1:11:37Speaker 3: But to get that amount of stuff in there.
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: Yeah, that's hard to do, to put everything into 90 minutes.
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: Is it hard for you to even remember some of
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: what went on? You know what? Yes.
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: Um, and that, that, that movie was about the book
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: and the, the dirt book.
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: Um, they said it was pretty true to form a
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: lot of it, I think.
- 1:12:02Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:12:03Speaker 3: It's, it's, it's identical, but, but to answer your question,
- 1:12:06Speaker 3: I didn't, you know, thank God the other guys remembered
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: shit because, you know, and that, And vice versa, we
- 1:12:15Speaker 3: all like kind of reminded each other of things because
- 1:12:18Speaker 3: shit's fuzzy for me about this or that time or,
- 1:12:22Speaker 3: you know, depending on what people were going through at
- 1:12:24Speaker 3: the time, people remember or don't quite remember.
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:12:28Speaker 3: So it was really that process of writing the book individually.
- 1:12:32Speaker 3: Everybody kind of did their interviews. And, you know, later
- 1:12:38Speaker 3: you find out, oh, fuck, that's right. You know, that's
- 1:12:41Speaker 3: a cool feeling.
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: Yeah, it's cool. Yeah, it's almost like having a time
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: capsule kind of. Yeah.
- 1:12:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: And it's neat to have somebody else there to help
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: you remember too. Yes. That's really the cool, a cool
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: gift of it. Because it's so hard to sometimes just, yeah.
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: Yeah, there's so much that has happened.
- 1:12:58Speaker 3: It would be almost impossible, especially for us fucking retards
- 1:13:01Speaker 3: to like remember all of it.
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: Yeah. Oh, dude. You know, come on. Unbelievable. Yeah. And
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: a lot of it, life, a touring life is you
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: just kind of get ready enough to walk on a
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: stage the next month, you know?
- 1:13:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: It's not a ton to it, really. It's like you
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: go somewhere, you get, maybe you go out to eat
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: if you're there for two days. Yeah, maybe. Yeah. Or
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: you go see one thing if you're in the town
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: the next day. Like if you're in Cleveland, you go
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: to like the Rock Hall of Fame, you go do something.
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: But otherwise, it's just like, you're just getting yourself acclimated,
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: just whatever you have to do to get yourself ready
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: to get on stage. Yeah. And then you're out. Yeah. Yeah,
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: that's so weird, dude.
- 1:13:36Speaker 3: I tell people all the time, I go, I've been
- 1:13:39Speaker 3: around the world a fucking hundred times and I've seen nothing.
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: That's crazy. Literally. Like a meteor, really. It hasn't landed, yeah.
- 1:13:49Speaker 3: Every fucking arena, stadium, bus, hotel room, like that's pretty
- 1:13:56Speaker 3: much it, you know?
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: Yeah, Frankfurt. What, Rotterdam? Yeah, you're like Oslo.
- 1:14:04Speaker 3: Arena with a building with a lot of seats in
- 1:14:06Speaker 3: it and a lot of people. And repeat that a
- 1:14:11Speaker 3: bunch of places. And you're like, I really haven't seen much.
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: When you start to get more free time. Oh, yeah.
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: I've seen nothing, honestly.
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: Oh, sometimes one of my dreams is to get married
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: and have a wife and get a camper. And just
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: kind of go around and see... even places where I've been,
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: you know, here's the thing. There's no way you can't
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: sound like the dumbest fucking person to your wife. Cause
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: you're like, but you were here. You're like, yeah, you
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: were here already. Yeah. No, but that's cool. Like I'll
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: do that.
- 1:14:44Speaker 3: Like on the tour bus on a day off, I
- 1:14:47Speaker 3: refuse to fucking go to a hotel. I'm like, we're
- 1:14:50Speaker 3: taking the bus and we're going to a lake and
- 1:14:53Speaker 3: we're fucking spending the, you get the fucking barbecues out. Like,
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: We're going to have something different. We're going to, we're
- 1:14:59Speaker 3: going to break the repetition here and go see something.
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: And live, be human. Yeah.
- 1:15:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. It's funny. You kind of give your, yeah.
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: Once you become busy enough, you become the business, you know? Yeah.
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: And a part of being you, you almost get so
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: little time to be yourself. Does that make any sense, man? Wow.
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: You just nailed it.
- 1:15:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: Man, you just fucking nailed it. Sometimes I even miss myself,
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: which is fucking really weird. That's, that's a good thing, man.
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: I mean, well, it's good to be successful. No, it's
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: good to have the opportunities and you know, it's a
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: blessing for sure.
- 1:15:36Speaker 2: It's cool that you're connected enough to realize that you
- 1:15:39Speaker 2: miss yourself.
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: You miss yourself. You're like, fuck man. Which is, yeah,
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: it's just, it's all interesting. The most interesting thing is
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: just to be able to have the experience of what
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: it's like to have some popularity or to be in
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: certain spaces. It's just, Just to even be a fly,
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: because you're a fly on the wall, but you're you,
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: and you're like, oh, this is just interesting to be here. Yeah, definitely.
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: Was it hard? Because I know you got a couple
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: of children. You have two. I got two boys. Two boys.
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: And was it hard to decide to start a family
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: when your life was like so, when you have such
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: a light? Like, was it hard? No, I always wanted one, man.
- 1:16:15Speaker 3: I've always been that kind of like, you know, chump.
- 1:16:21Speaker 3: fucking sucker for romance, having a family, you know, like
- 1:16:26Speaker 3: that whole kind of, kind of milk and cookies thing.
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: Yeah. I've always, always liked, you know?
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: So yeah, it was something that I definitely wanted, you know?
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: Did it just kind of become a certain age? You're like,
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: I kind of have to do it now. Did the
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: clock ever start to kind of tick for you a little?
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: Did you ever feel like, um, I don't know.
- 1:16:47Speaker 3: I think maybe I think it was just, you know,
- 1:16:51Speaker 3: right place, right time, right, you know, a lot of
- 1:16:54Speaker 3: things have to be right for that to happen, but.
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: Just happy it happened, man, because. Yeah, that's a good point, too.
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: I got some fucking amazing boys who are just a dream, man.
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: What's something neat about each one of your kids that
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: you really admire?
- 1:17:16Speaker 2: Something neat about them?
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: Or something that you admire? about each one of them.
- 1:17:20Speaker 2: They have some incredible resilience.
- 1:17:23Speaker 3: You know, they're brought up in, you know, a lot
- 1:17:29Speaker 3: of not normal situations for them. And they're just, they've
- 1:17:32Speaker 3: done really fucking well with just navigating, you know?
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: So they're great. How are they different than each other?
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: I think I've met one of them.
- 1:17:47Speaker 2: They're both.
- 1:17:49Speaker 3: Dylan is the youngest on the right. I've called him
- 1:17:53Speaker 3: Little Buddha since he was born.
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: Oh, that's cool.
- 1:17:57Speaker 3: He's just like the reverse of his brother, who's more
- 1:18:02Speaker 3: like me, Brandon.
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: Yeah, he's hell yeah. Yeah, the dude flipping the camera off,
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: that guy. Yeah, I'll be sponsoring him in a couple years.
- 1:18:09Speaker 3: He's more hyper and kind of crazy like me. So
- 1:18:12Speaker 3: they're completely opposite. Which is great, because I got one
- 1:18:17Speaker 3: of each.
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: Yeah, you got a yin and yang going. Yeah, dude.
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: That's cool. Is it really cool being a dad? What
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: was something about it that really surprised you, you think,
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: over time, since you've had the experience?
- 1:18:27Speaker 3: I don't think there's a better feeling in the world.
- 1:18:32Speaker 3: As a matter of fact, I know there isn't.
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: Of having your.
- 1:18:38Speaker 3: Kids, musically, Okay, just imagine a musician like myself and
- 1:18:47Speaker 3: all of a sudden I'm in the studio working on
- 1:18:50Speaker 3: a song with my son and that's going down and
- 1:18:58Speaker 3: my other son.
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: Who loves music as well, everybody's just like, everybody's in
- 1:19:04Speaker 2: the mix and I'm like, I'm gonna start fucking crying
- 1:19:08Speaker 2: right now because this is the coolest shit Fucking ever.
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: Oh, it's cool. Like, dude, I can't, you know what
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: I mean?
- 1:19:14Speaker 2: Like, yeah.
- 1:19:15Speaker 3: When your kids grow up, they're just some or nothing
- 1:19:19Speaker 3: like their parents and others are.
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: And, but to have them.
- 1:19:23Speaker 3: Both just like really gravitate towards music and, and, uh, acting, uh,
- 1:19:29Speaker 3: Brandon's been doing is just, there's nothing better.
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: You know what I mean? I bet. Especially if that,
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: cause that's like almost all the things you love right
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: there in one space, music, And your two sons. Yes.
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: So to have that mixed together, that would be super cool.
- 1:19:43Speaker 3: It's insane, man. And then, you know, and we're sitting
- 1:19:48Speaker 3: there and, yeah, it's incredible.
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: Well, yeah, I mean, and you were, I mean, you
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: sang on some songs, but you weren't the lead singer, huh?
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: Vince is the lead singer, you guys are the band. Yeah,
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: Vince sings. But some songs you sang on.
- 1:20:04Speaker 2: Yeah, I sing, I mean, I typically sing on, play guitar, piano, drums,
- 1:20:10Speaker 2: kind of do, produce.
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: You know. How much pressure do you realize over time,
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: how much extra pressure is on a lead singer? A lot.
- 1:20:18Speaker 2: That's not easy, man. It's not easy.
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: Because they have to do almost extra work a lot
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: of times, it feels like, too.
- 1:20:25Speaker 3: Taking care of the shit, you know. And if you're
- 1:20:28Speaker 3: doing it every night, you gotta, you know, it's like,
- 1:20:31Speaker 3: it's a muscle, you know.
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: Yeah. You gotta take care of it. Yeah, what else
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: in that? I'm trying to think of the, oh, what
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: about the part in the dirt where Ozzy snorts that piss?
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: Is that true or they just made that up? Full
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: on true.
- 1:20:43Speaker 2: Fuck yeah.
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: I know people ask that all the time.
- 1:20:45Speaker 2: They're like, dude, really?
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: I'm like, abso-fucking-lutely, you can't make that shit up. Yeah,
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: to rip a line of fucking piss. There's my buddy
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: Tony Cavallaro that played him, dude. Dude, he was so high. Yeah. Oh,
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: Ozzy was?
- 1:20:57Speaker 2: All of us right here.
- 1:20:58Speaker 3: We had just come, we had just been on an
- 1:21:01Speaker 3: overnight bus ride and Ozzy rode with us. So we're all,
- 1:21:07Speaker 3: and we're doing rails the whole way. No one slept.
- 1:21:11Speaker 3: Everyone just drink. So we're at, at the hotel and
- 1:21:16Speaker 3: no one wanted to go to their room. Everyone wanted
- 1:21:18Speaker 3: to still keep partying.
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: So we go, let's go to the fucking pool. We
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: go to the pool.
- 1:21:24Speaker 2: And at that, at that time, it was just kind
- 1:21:28Speaker 2: of a thing.
- 1:21:29Speaker 3: Everybody was into like, out rock star and out grossing
- 1:21:34Speaker 3: somebody out, like out partying.
- 1:21:36Speaker 2: You know, like, no, dude. So Ozzy starts, Ozzy's wasted.
- 1:21:42Speaker 3: He sees there's a little trail of ants going all
- 1:21:45Speaker 3: the way to this kid popsicle that he left on
- 1:21:48Speaker 3: the ground, right? And Ozzy looks down and fucking just
- 1:21:53Speaker 3: snorts the whole, the line of ants going to the popsicle. And, and,
- 1:21:59Speaker 3: And Nikki's like, okay, well, fuck that. So Nikki pulls
- 1:22:03Speaker 3: his dick out at the pool. Everybody, this is a hotel.
- 1:22:05Speaker 3: This is like the Four Seasons, I think, in Dallas.
- 1:22:10Speaker 3: Some fucked up people, kids, everything. Nikki goes, I fucked up.
- 1:22:15Speaker 3: Watch this.
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: Nikki goes to pee on the ground.
- 1:22:19Speaker 3: And Nikki's going to lick up his own piss.
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: To like outdo Ozzy. Oh yeah, you gotta recycling.
- 1:22:24Speaker 3: And before Nicky could do it, Ozzy fucking beats him
- 1:22:27Speaker 3: to it and lifts up his piss.
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: And then we're like, all right, Ozzy, you win. You win, dude.
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: Nap time.
- 1:22:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: And then dude.
- 1:22:36Speaker 3: That's awesome. Then what they don't show in the movie
- 1:22:39Speaker 3: there is Ozzy's tour manager goes, dude, Ozzy's fucking on one.
- 1:22:46Speaker 3: You're responsible for him. Here's his hotel room key.
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: Fuck, I'm done. I can't deal with this anymore. I'm like, oh,
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: I got him.
- 1:22:54Speaker 3: Cool, I'll take him to his room. So anyway, after
- 1:22:56Speaker 3: we get kicked out of the pool area for all
- 1:22:58Speaker 3: that bullshit, they don't really go into it in the movie.
- 1:23:03Speaker 3: I get, I'm like, come on, Austin, we gotta, we're
- 1:23:06Speaker 3: getting kicked out. We gotta take you up to your room.
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: He goes, oh, all right, Mike. I put him, we
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: get in the elevator.
- 1:23:13Speaker 3: We're going up and he, and there's people in the
- 1:23:16Speaker 3: fucking elevator and he pulls his pants down and he
- 1:23:19Speaker 3: just starts fucking He's gonna shit.
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: He's shitting. I'm like, Ozzy, dude, no. Fuck. Don't shit. Dude, no.
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: And he's like, ah.
- 1:23:34Speaker 2: We get to the floor.
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: I'm like, come on. I'm just trying to get him
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: to his fucking room. Close the door and let him.
- 1:23:41Speaker 3: He just needs to go to bed. So I take
- 1:23:45Speaker 3: his room key. fucking open it up, open, like push
- 1:23:49Speaker 3: the door open. I'm like, okay, buddy, see you later.
- 1:23:53Speaker 3: And he's like, he goes, come here. I'm like, I'm
- 1:23:56Speaker 3: going to go. He's like, no, you come here. I
- 1:23:58Speaker 3: go in and he, he, now he's going to finish.
- 1:24:02Speaker 3: He just starts shitting in the middle of the room,
- 1:24:05Speaker 3: bends down, picks it up and starts painting the walls
- 1:24:09Speaker 3: with his shit.
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: I'm like, I'm like, I got to go, dude. And
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: I fucking bailed.
- 1:24:14Speaker 3: And I don't know what happened after that, but they
- 1:24:16Speaker 3: don't show that part in the movie.
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: Just like he had to shit. Yeah. But if you
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: got to shit, you got to find other ways to, you.
- 1:24:24Speaker 2: Know, like, bro, just wait till you get to the toilet.
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: Yeah. That's the best way.
- 1:24:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: But he wanted to like, everybody was just on this.
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: Like I got to out fucking whatever. I'm an animal.
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: I'm going to paint with my shit.
- 1:24:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: Yeah. Everybody's fucking an animal.
- 1:24:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: Everybody's fucking Pablo shit Caso all of a sudden. That's wicked, dude. Dude,
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: I gotta piss. You do? Yeah. Go piss real quick.
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: It's tough, man. It's kind of weird because sometimes you
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: don't really pick who you love, I feel like. You
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: can have an idea of like, oh, I'm going to
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: be in love with this or this girl looks this
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: way and that's how I'm attracted. But then sometimes it's
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: like you'll just kind of just be in love with something.
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: You're like, oh, I'm in love over here, you know? Yeah.
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: Does that make any sense, you think?
- 1:25:09Speaker 3: The first thing that comes to mind is like best friendship. Like,
- 1:25:15Speaker 3: you know, I, I think that, I think that has
- 1:25:18Speaker 3: to happen before the, before the love.
- 1:25:21Speaker 2: I don't, for me, it's like, I don't know.
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: Well, I think especially you learn that as you grow,
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: as we get older, sometimes some of that stuff we
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: learn as we grow too.
- 1:25:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: Yeah. I've made choices before. Sometimes in my life, you'd
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: be like, Oh, this and this, or, but you have
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: to have a best friend that you're like, all right,
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: every now and then you're like, all right, I'll fuck
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: my best friend, you know? But if it's just a
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: best friend, then after a while, you're like, oh, fuck.
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: I just got to fucking, I got to get rid
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: of this best friend so I can fuck a little,
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: you know? I think so. It's like, you got to
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: kind of find that middle ground, you know? I think,
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: you know? Cause you've been married a few times in
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: your life.
- 1:26:02Speaker 2: Yup.
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. Um, And what have you, like, and now
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: you're married now to a comedian. Yep. Brittany Furlan, that's
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: your wife.
- 1:26:08Speaker 2: Yes, yep.
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: And she's always charming. She made this necklace for me, too,
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: speaking of charms. Yeah. And this is a little Marlboro.
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: It's cool, man. It feels good.
- 1:26:20Speaker 2: Yeah, she's fucking rad. She's funny. Yeah, she's... Dude, like,
- 1:26:26Speaker 2: I got... My face hurts, you know?
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: We're just.
- 1:26:30Speaker 3: And that's the best friend shit I'm talking about. Like
- 1:26:33Speaker 3: we've laughed all the fucking time.
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: Um, cause we're both silly. Yeah.
- 1:26:41Speaker 3: We don't take everything so fucking seriously. And like, I
- 1:26:45Speaker 3: don't know. We just have fucking fun, you know? And it's,
- 1:26:50Speaker 3: that's a beautiful thing.
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: Is, um, what's the longest relationship that you've been in
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: right now?
- 1:26:56Speaker 2: It's, I think it might be me and Brittany because I,
- 1:27:00Speaker 2: We're just, we're just clocking in it over seven years.
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: Jesus, really? Yeah.
- 1:27:05Speaker 3: And the longest time I was ever married was for
- 1:27:08Speaker 3: seven years. So when we're, we're past that now, which is.
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: Wild, man.
- 1:27:14Speaker 2: I'm like, okay, this is definitely.
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: It's a real thing.
- 1:27:18Speaker 2: The third time's a charm. Here comes that silly line.
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: And how many times have you been married? Fuck.
- 1:27:24Speaker 3: Well, technically four. Or sorry, technically three, but four times.
- 1:27:29Speaker 3: The first one got annulled, so that doesn't count.
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: And what does annulled mean? What, people just disagree or
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: the ref says no or whatever?
- 1:27:36Speaker 3: I guess kind of like the ref says no. We
- 1:27:39Speaker 3: just weren't married long enough.
- 1:27:41Speaker 2: Oh.
- 1:27:41Speaker 3: It was like literally, I think, maybe a couple weeks
- 1:27:44Speaker 3: after getting married, it was like, oh, this ain't working.
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. And they should have a thing
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: where a month later your friends get to send a
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: ballot kind of, and it's like something like that. Yeah. Oh,
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: so your friends can annul it too? Like, no, she
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: ain't cool, man. She's got to go. She just took
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: my best friend. Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:28:06Speaker 2: Because you know your friends, a lot of them go.
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: Yeah, they disappear.
- 1:28:10Speaker 2: Yeah, they just disappear.
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: Once they get married.
- 1:28:13Speaker 2: Yeah, well, you know.
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: And if you get married to somebody they don't like. Yeah,
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: and that.
- 1:28:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: Wow. You know how that works. Have you ever been married? No,
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: I've never been married. I want to get married, though.
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: I think my career started kind of blooming late in
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: life kind of, or like later, you know? And so
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: it's been like, no time for that right now. It's
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: just been hard. And it's tough to even tell girls.
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: It's like, you know, right now, you know, like, or
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: if there's something that starts to build and then I'm
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: out of town and then I come back in town,
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: I'm like, now, where were we? And then, and. then
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: you meet, you know, and then you start to feel
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: bad that people are like holding out hopes and you're
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: the one who's kind of like, you don't want to
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: keep somebody's hopes up.
- 1:28:47Speaker 2: Fucking. It's like, fuck, I got too much going on.
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: Well, you just feel like you're, I don't want to
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: keep like. you'll get kind of a little bit attached.
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: You're like, yeah, this is going good. But then you're like,
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: you're out of town. It's like, oh, well, I know
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: I'm going to be out of town pretty much a
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: lot for the next year. So I just have to
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: tell you right now that this is just how things are.
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: And if we don't both work pretty hard at this,
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: then it's going to be tough. Yeah, dude. It's going
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: to be tough. And love, I think there's love like,
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: it's kind of a hands-on fucking thing, you know?
- 1:29:25Speaker 2: Yeah, it's work. I mean, you have to nurture.
- 1:29:30Speaker 1: It's a bonsai. It's funny. Our therapist says that all
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: the time.
- 1:29:36Speaker 2: All that work that you put on those trees, that
- 1:29:42Speaker 2: same kind of work goes into your partner.
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: Yeah, because it's funny. Even when you and Brittany came
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: in today, it seems like, and I've seen you guys
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: at the comedy clubs and stuff together, It really does
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: seem like you guys enjoy being around each other, you know? Yeah.
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: It seems funny. You guys are, like, fucking, yeah, like,
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: kind of goofy. And she has a lot of energy,
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: and it's kind of nice probably then, too, to, like,
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: because you've had so much energy in your life where it's, like,
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: you don't have to always be the voltage, you know?
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: Well perceived, dude. It's nice. Yeah, it is. Go crazy, baby.
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: Go crazy. You're like, this is the part of me
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: that's just, it's still there, but it's just fucking, it's
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: had a lot of damage. You can entertain me, sure. Yeah,
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: I had to outsource some of it. Like I found
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: a part of me that I really like in someone else,
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: and that's really cool, you know? That's more of a
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: neat way to say it. Yeah, it is cool, man.
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: It is beautiful. That's awesome, dude.
- 1:30:39Speaker 2: I think I finally got it right, dude. Yeah.
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. Good.
- 1:30:44Speaker 2: Actually, I know we got it right.
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: Yeah. Cool.
- 1:30:49Speaker 2: It's good.
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: That's cool, man. Feels nice to say that. Did you
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: ever get to meet Michael Landon before or no?
- 1:30:57Speaker 2: No. Little House on the Prairie guy?
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:31:01Speaker 2: No.
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: He got all the ladies, bro, I heard. Yeah.
- 1:31:05Speaker 2: He had a sick ass, or did have a sick
- 1:31:08Speaker 2: ass house in Malibu, like back in the.
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: Cut Malibu, like the, I don't know what you call
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: that area. Some gated. What about Michael Jackson? Do you
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: ever get to meet him? I did. Really? One time, dude. Wow.
- 1:31:24Speaker 1: At the MTV Awards. I was presenting. When was it, 2007? No,
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: was it seven or was it earlier than that? You've
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: been to a bunch of them. Yeah. Man, the date's fuzzy,
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: but dude. Oh, good. Yeah, I met him once, man,
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: and I was so bugged out. The date's fuzzy. That
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: should be the title of your autobiography. What? The date's fuzzy.
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: The date's fuzzy. Because it kind of pertains to just
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: a timeline and dating and everything, you know?
- 1:31:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: But anyway, what am I fucking scripting your life? I'm
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: not writing that shit.
- 1:32:01Speaker 3: And the fact that I'm geographically challenged, I still don't
- 1:32:04Speaker 3: know where the fuck, you know, like.
- 1:32:08Speaker 3: Like I was trying to tell somebody like, where were
- 1:32:11Speaker 3: you this week? And I was like, I was in Minot,
- 1:32:15Speaker 3: like South Dakota, North Dakota.
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: Fuck. I don't know.
- 1:32:18Speaker 3: Like, like I just, you know, I'll break down in
- 1:32:22Speaker 3: tears at the airport sometimes just because.
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: I'm like, I don't know where I'm at.
- 1:32:28Speaker 2: Cause you know, like if I travel alone, especially because
- 1:32:32Speaker 2: I'm used to, a fucking tour manager.
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: Okay, we go here, we go there, we go.
- 1:32:37Speaker 3: And man, dude, I can't tell you, there's several times
- 1:32:40Speaker 3: where I've been traveling alone where I'll just stop and
- 1:32:43Speaker 3: grown man just start crying.
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: Fuck, where's the smoking lounge? Well, it is true. I mean,
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: part of having that much people around you and support
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: and stuff, you turn into a little bit of a
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: child that does an activity. Dude. That is it. Absolutely.
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: Get this fucking child to the stage, have him do
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: his activity. Do his activity. And then he's going to ask,
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: where's dinner?
- 1:33:14Speaker 2: Dude.
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: Where do I sleep? I just learned how to send
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: a fucking FedEx package. A few years ago. I didn't
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: know how to do it. I looked, what do you do?
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: Just FedEx? Where is FedEx? Do I take it there?
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: Do they come get, like, how does it work? Yeah,
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: do they know you want to send something? Like, how
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: does this all fill in? Dude. That's great.
- 1:33:39Speaker 3: And, like, just because everybody does everything for you for
- 1:33:43Speaker 3: so long and through all those, like, kind of, fuck.
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: And some of it, that's the way that some of
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: that gets set up. It's not you necessarily outsourcing your life.
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: It's that those things get put in place around you
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: so you don't have to worry about that or worry
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: about anything because part of the business is you are
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: the business. And so you have to be the business. Yes.
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: You don't have to be the mailroom of the business.
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: And that starts to fall on somebody else's shoulders. Yeah.
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: It's not like you saying, oh, I'm not going to
- 1:34:09Speaker 1: send my own mail. Yeah, no. It's just that's the
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: way things work out. Yeah.
- 1:34:14Speaker 3: Isn't that bizarre? And the whole time you don't learn anything.
- 1:34:19Speaker 3: You're just like, I'm relearning things that I should have
- 1:34:23Speaker 3: learned a long time ago.
- 1:34:24Speaker 1: Oh, whoa, dude. Oh, I'm a late bloomer, dude. I'm like,
- 1:34:27Speaker 1: I'm learning shit I should have learned at five or
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: six years old. How to do proper handshakes. I mean,
- 1:34:34Speaker 1: I remember... Dude, I was such a late learner on
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: so many things. I'm like, dear God. Oh, fuck.
- 1:34:38Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 1:34:39Speaker 1: It was just fucking nightmare. Well, have you and your
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: wife taken a lot of trips? We have.
- 1:34:51Speaker 2: She doesn't like to go on a lot of trips. So,
- 1:34:56Speaker 2: but we have taken a lot.
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: And actually. Is there a place you guys like to go?
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: She's terrified of.
- 1:35:04Speaker 3: Fucking going anywhere um she fucking had like dude I've
- 1:35:10Speaker 3: scheduled or booked like just the most beautiful fucking spots
- 1:35:16Speaker 3: like winter fucking cabins on the lake like you know
- 1:35:21Speaker 3: and had to cancel them because there's no hospital within
- 1:35:24Speaker 3: uh a couple hours yeah you know like like that
- 1:35:28Speaker 3: kind of shit or like remote Bora Bora or like
- 1:35:32Speaker 3: just beautiful places we've gone to but Some had to cancel.
- 1:35:38Speaker 3: Trying to get her to go anywhere is really difficult.
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: But, you know. But we have. We have. Well, and
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: it's nice also if you're having a good time just
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: to be at home too.
- 1:35:48Speaker 3: We're building a house right now and been working on
- 1:35:53Speaker 3: it for three years.
- 1:35:55Speaker 1: Oh, that's awesome.
- 1:35:56Speaker 3: We've built a place that doesn't require vacations. Like I'm
- 1:36:02Speaker 3: making my house so fucking rad. that I don't really
- 1:36:06Speaker 3: need to go anywhere. And for her too, she doesn't,
- 1:36:10Speaker 3: she's going to never have to go anywhere. Cause she
- 1:36:12Speaker 3: can be like, Oh, this is fucking rad.
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: Like this is sick as shit ever. I'm on vacation. Yeah.
- 1:36:19Speaker 1: That's sick. Yeah. So that's a neat idea.
- 1:36:22Speaker 3: Hopefully I've fixed that problem for her, but cause she
- 1:36:25Speaker 3: doesn't dig traveling at all.
- 1:36:27Speaker 1: Wow. It's kind of nice. So it probably saves you
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: some loot too. Yeah.
- 1:36:31Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe.
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: Do you guys keep animals at the house? Have you
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: been an animal guy? Yeah, dude.
- 1:36:38Speaker 3: I've been a dog guy for a long time. We
- 1:36:41Speaker 3: got two wieners.
- 1:36:45Speaker 1: How big is a wiener dog? Like little.
- 1:36:49Speaker 2: A wiener, about this little. All right. About this little.
- 1:36:54Speaker 1: About that thick. And if you had to compare it
- 1:36:57Speaker 1: to your actual wiener, who wins, you think? To an
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: actual wiener? To your actual wiener. You're the guy with
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: the wiener. The rest of us are just kind of
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: milling around the area. Right, right. You know what I'm saying?
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: The rest of us are kind of fucking loitering, dude.
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: You're the fucking fire truck, you know? We're the guy
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: running with the pail of water. You know what I'm saying? So, oh, damn.
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: Now this shit is getting a little... That shit's beautiful,
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: but that's getting a little crazy, dude. That's Teeny the Weenie.
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: And where was this at, dude? Was this at a P.F. Chang's, dude?
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: Where is this?
- 1:37:28Speaker 2: That's at my old house.
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: In Calabasas. Oh, that is pretty cute, actually. Yeah, we
- 1:37:36Speaker 1: must have just got her. Oh, yeah, you can tell.
- 1:37:38Speaker 2: She's a little bit bigger now. I think you saw
- 1:37:41Speaker 2: her earlier. Yeah.
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: Oh, wow.
- 1:37:43Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:37:44Speaker 1: This looks.
- 1:37:44Speaker 2: She's teeny, dude.
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: Very... but also cute. Yeah, so fucking cute. Yeah, little
- 1:37:54Speaker 1: dogs is nice. Did you ever own a parrot? Any
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: other animals? We've had a couple birds. Haven't had great
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: luck with birds. Yeah. Dude, one time we went, I
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: went to Vietnam, right? And so you go there, I
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: was a student, and you get dropped off, and the taxis,
- 1:38:11Speaker 1: whenever you show up there, the first place they take you,
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: you could say anything. I want to go to I
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: wanna go to a museum, I wanna go to the-
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: Where was this? In Vietnam. Oh, you've been there? Yeah,
- 1:38:20Speaker 1: so you go and you said the first thing, I
- 1:38:22Speaker 1: was a student and we were like, we wanna go
- 1:38:23Speaker 1: to this museum, whatever, this like something. But no matter
- 1:38:26Speaker 1: where you say, they take you to hookers or whatever.
- 1:38:30Speaker 1: you can say anyone want to go to McDonald's they
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: take you to fucking make pussies, right? We got it. Yeah,
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: so get out at this museum. It's one story and
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: it's a pet shop It's like we're like, what the
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: fuck is it? Everybody speaks yet to me. So you
- 1:38:43Speaker 1: don't know what's going on I walk inside a couple
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: birds couple I don't know if it was cats or whatever.
- 1:38:50Speaker 1: It was like kind of vague. And then these ladies
- 1:38:52Speaker 1: come out of the back and topless, right? So we're like, oh,
- 1:38:56Speaker 1: what the fuck? Look at Pet Shop.
- 1:38:59Speaker 2: Topless Pet Shop.
- 1:38:59Speaker 1: Yeah, dude. Like, damn, dude. Yeah, that Bichon ate that
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: lady's bra, you know? Jesus. So next thing you know,
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: we're in the back and they're trying to jerk everybody
- 1:39:08Speaker 1: off and just get seed out of everybody.
- 1:39:11Speaker 2: Jesus.
- 1:39:11Speaker 1: And I got super nervous because they had us all
- 1:39:13Speaker 1: in the same room. And I was like, I don't know.
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: I don't even, I don't even speak at the language.
- 1:39:17Speaker 1: I'm like looking at, they have a picture menu. I'm
- 1:39:19Speaker 1: like kind of looking at that and trying to negotiate
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: rates or whatever. Like, Oh yeah, dude, I will get
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: 30% off some fucking tits if I can.
- 1:39:27Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:39:28Speaker 1: So I'm like trying to see what the different options are. Anyway,
- 1:39:31Speaker 1: I get really freaked out because one of my buddies
- 1:39:33Speaker 1: starts getting a blowjob. It's just all right. It's just
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: right there. And it's crazy. You can hear the animals. Oh, dude.
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: And it's just really crazy. And one of the parrots
- 1:39:43Speaker 1: kept saying like pervy shit, you know, like, fuck Pearson.
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: You know, we're like, come, come. Oh, no. Come, papa.
- 1:39:50Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: And so it was just like, what the fuck is it, man?
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: But yeah, I've never really been a pet owner, I guess.
- 1:39:56Speaker 1: That's kind of, that's the closest thing I've really been
- 1:39:59Speaker 1: a part of. Except I slept in the bed with
- 1:40:01Speaker 1: a girl one time in a Great Dane. Oh, shit. Yeah,
- 1:40:04Speaker 1: and she made us sleep right between us. And I
- 1:40:06Speaker 1: was like, this feels insane. He was big, dude. And black. Yeah.
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: They're fucking people size. He was big. Like he definitely
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: played Juco ball somewhere. Like they take like horse size shit.
- 1:40:24Speaker 1: I'm not dealing with that giant. Yeah. No, dude, that
- 1:40:28Speaker 1: ain't cool. What was the first pet you ever had?
- 1:40:30Speaker 1: First pet was a monkey. My dad brought a monkey
- 1:40:36Speaker 1: from Thailand. Wow.
- 1:40:39Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the first pet.
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: And was it in a box or how'd y'all keep it?
- 1:40:45Speaker 3: It was outside in a cage, like my dad, he
- 1:40:48Speaker 3: built the cage. He fucking just built everything. He built
- 1:40:52Speaker 3: a cage and that's where he lived. That's where he'd
- 1:40:58Speaker 3: sleep at night.
- 1:40:58Speaker 2: But he basically had little diapers on and would just
- 1:41:02Speaker 2: fucking rip it around the house all day.
- 1:41:04Speaker 1: And he'd party. Oh, dude.
- 1:41:05Speaker 2: Wow.
- 1:41:06Speaker 1: Party. Party. Maybe that's where you learned some of it.
- 1:41:10Speaker 2: Yeah, the fuck.
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: Like this thing can fucking rock.
- 1:41:13Speaker 2: Yeah, so fun. So fun, man.
- 1:41:16Speaker 1: And how did it pass away?
- 1:41:20Speaker 3: It had a heat lamp outside and we had a fucking,
- 1:41:27Speaker 3: it got really, really cold and we had a power
- 1:41:31Speaker 3: outage and the fucking heat lamp went off and he
- 1:41:36Speaker 3: fucking died.
- 1:41:37Speaker 1: In the morning, he was dead.
- 1:41:39Speaker 3: I think we had like, he froze to death. I
- 1:41:47Speaker 3: don't know how he died, but we had like really shitty,
- 1:41:51Speaker 3: super cold weather. I think it actually even maybe snowed.
- 1:41:55Speaker 1: What town was it in? In Covina. Oh, out here.
- 1:41:58Speaker 2: Yeah, that's where I grew up.
- 1:42:00Speaker 1: Wow. Damn, it's a bummer. Yeah. Dude, 99 out of
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: 100 times you'd think a monkey would survive a night
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: in Covina. Yeah.
- 1:42:09Speaker 2: I mean, it's not like extreme here at all.
- 1:42:13Speaker 1: That's crazy.
- 1:42:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: Yeah, my apartment is on the street where, who was
- 1:42:18Speaker 1: the guy from Jane's Addiction? The guy who wears kind
- 1:42:20Speaker 1: of the makeup, handsome guy. Dave Navarro? Yeah, where his
- 1:42:24Speaker 1: mom got murdered on the same street. Oh, shit. It
- 1:42:28Speaker 1: was kind of crazy. Oh, whoa.
- 1:42:30Speaker 2: That's where you lived at?
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: I lived just down the street from there.
- 1:42:33Speaker 2: Oh.
- 1:42:33Speaker 1: Yeah. Oh, cool.
- 1:42:36Speaker 2: Dude, who else?
- 1:42:36Speaker 1: One time I went to Perry Farrell's house for a
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: one-year-old's birthday. Somebody fucking invited. Really?
- 1:42:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:42:42Speaker 1: And it was just there. And I'm just walking around.
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: And then there he shows up. It was just, you know,
- 1:42:46Speaker 1: sometimes nice houses. They'll let people, friends have their birthday party,
- 1:42:49Speaker 1: kids' birthdays there. Uh-huh. I fucking relapsed at a one-year-old's
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: birthday party, dude. Oh, my God. A one-year-old. What the fuck, dude? What? Hey, look, man.
- 1:43:01Speaker 1: How does that even happen? God is good, dude. I
- 1:43:04Speaker 1: don't know how it happens, but we just keep it moving,
- 1:43:07Speaker 1: and it was what it was, man. Whoa. I didn't
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: expect to. That's why I went. I was like, oh,
- 1:43:11Speaker 1: I'm going to go to a place I can't get in. Yeah.
- 1:43:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:43:15Speaker 1: And then you have a couple wines or whatever, and
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: then it's just gone. Oh, shit. It was just bad.
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: At a one-year-old birthday party.
- 1:43:23Speaker 2: Dude.
- 1:43:23Speaker 1: What up? Did you ever get to meet Marilyn Manson? Oh, yeah. Yeah,
- 1:43:32Speaker 1: it's cool. Yeah. That was my first concert. He's a fucking.
- 1:43:36Speaker 2: He's a fucking great guy.
- 1:43:38Speaker 1: Yeah, I hear really interesting things about him. Kat Von
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: D is close with him, and she speaks a lot
- 1:43:42Speaker 1: about him. Yeah. You know, she mentions him a lot,
- 1:43:44Speaker 1: you know?
- 1:43:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:43:46Speaker 1: He's a fucking... He's funny, man. Was there... Oh, that's
- 1:43:50Speaker 1: you and him.
- 1:43:51Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 1:43:52Speaker 1: Oh, that's cool. He has a good sense of humor?
- 1:43:55Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, dude. He's fucking... He's definitely a, he's a
- 1:44:00Speaker 2: fucking tweaker.
- 1:44:01Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. He's actually. BYO blinds, huh?
- 1:44:06Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: He's fucking wild. Oh.
- 1:44:08Speaker 3: He, he turned me on to some fucking, man, this crazy, we,
- 1:44:16Speaker 3: we drank a fucking shitload of this absinthe, uh, in Europe.
- 1:44:22Speaker 3: That just, his thing was absinthe and like showed me like,
- 1:44:26Speaker 3: I don't know. It just, I will, I'd seen this
- 1:44:30Speaker 3: shit called Green Fairy or whatever, it's green, but he
- 1:44:33Speaker 3: had some other, I started hallucinating on the shit. If
- 1:44:39Speaker 3: you drink enough of it, you start to slightly hallucinate
- 1:44:42Speaker 3: and it was purple colored.
- 1:44:44Speaker 1: And it's an alcohol as well?
- 1:44:47Speaker 2: Yeah, it's full on alcohol, strong as fuck.
- 1:44:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:44:55Speaker 3: And you drink the shit on fire, like you light
- 1:44:58Speaker 3: the sugar cubes and the sugar melts into the absinthe.
- 1:45:02Speaker 1: Oh, shit.
- 1:45:03Speaker 2: It's a whole like a ritual thing.
- 1:45:04Speaker 1: Yeah. Ritualistic. I like that. Yeah, it's dark. I could
- 1:45:07Speaker 1: see him getting into some ritualistic shit. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:45:13Speaker 1: Absinthe really make you hallucinate. Absinthe, a liqueur, is a
- 1:45:15Speaker 1: combination of spirits and herbs, mainly fennel, anise, and a
- 1:45:20Speaker 1: type of wormwood called Artemisia absinthium. Um, that's what it's
- 1:45:25Speaker 1: named after Van Gogh and Picasso were big fans of
- 1:45:28Speaker 1: absinthe back in the day, along with other artists. Some
- 1:45:30Speaker 1: believe that absinthe induced hallucinations partly inspired some of their
- 1:45:33Speaker 1: greatest works. Wow. Right. Um, do you look at bands nowadays?
- 1:45:38Speaker 1: Cause you guys fucking rocked. You guys were almost like
- 1:45:40Speaker 1: the industrial era. It's back when you actually had to
- 1:45:44Speaker 1: actually make the fucking sounds, you know, like now it's like,
- 1:45:47Speaker 1: you don't have to make the sounds anymore. The sounds
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: are all programmed or whatever. You guys had to actually
- 1:45:52Speaker 1: fucking go out there and make them, you know? Make them,
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: record them, yeah. Do you look at bands, I mean,
- 1:45:58Speaker 1: you look at N.S.A. or like Rascal Fight, you're like,
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: what the fuck is even going on here? Not them specifically,
- 1:46:03Speaker 1: but do you ever look at modern bands and you're like,
- 1:46:05Speaker 1: this is.
- 1:46:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I hear, I mean, yeah, I hear it all
- 1:46:10Speaker 2: the time.
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: Are you disappointed in how music has evolved or is
- 1:46:13Speaker 1: just this is what it is and it's like you're
- 1:46:15Speaker 1: fortunate the time you got to be in? Do you
- 1:46:17Speaker 1: ever get jealous of the time that people have? Like...
- 1:46:20Speaker 1: you know, not that you're still not making a lot
- 1:46:22Speaker 1: of music and that, but it's like, you guys are
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: still the ones who let's go out there and fucking,
- 1:46:27Speaker 1: you know?
- 1:46:27Speaker 3: Yeah. I, you know what, dude, I guess the good
- 1:46:30Speaker 3: thing is I'm such a fan of so many styles
- 1:46:34Speaker 3: of music.
- 1:46:36Speaker 1: That I enjoy all of it. So, um, whether you make.
- 1:46:40Speaker 3: It raw and live off the floor or make beats,
- 1:46:44Speaker 3: you know, or play, you know, record in the box
- 1:46:47Speaker 3: and the computer and edit. And I, I've done it
- 1:46:51Speaker 3: all different ways, so I really, I just like good music.
- 1:46:55Speaker 3: I don't really care how it was made. So, yeah,
- 1:47:00Speaker 3: it doesn't really, it doesn't bug me. I don't go like, ah,
- 1:47:04Speaker 3: this shit today sucks. Because there's some really great stuff,
- 1:47:08Speaker 3: and yeah, there's some shitty stuff. But I do like
- 1:47:12Speaker 3: so many different styles. I'm kind of all over the place.
- 1:47:14Speaker 3: I'm probably not a good guy to ask that question to,
- 1:47:17Speaker 3: because I don't know.
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: Are there things that you miss about the rise of things?
- 1:47:21Speaker 1: Like how, when things were starting, cause sometimes you don't
- 1:47:22Speaker 1: realize when things are popping, like in the beginning that that's,
- 1:47:26Speaker 1: that's the moment, you know?
- 1:47:28Speaker 3: You know what I miss more than anything, dude, I
- 1:47:31Speaker 3: miss the fucking mystery, man. I miss the, you know, like,
- 1:47:35Speaker 3: like there's people that I.
- 1:47:37Speaker 1: Just, I absolutely just think the fucking world of.
- 1:47:40Speaker 3: And it's guys like, who are like, I, I call,
- 1:47:44Speaker 3: I think they're chameleons cause they're just, they're always changing.
- 1:47:48Speaker 3: with guys like Prince never did fucking interviews. You always
- 1:47:51Speaker 3: wonder like, what's that guy do? The, the, the mystique.
- 1:47:56Speaker 3: I miss that.
- 1:47:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:47:58Speaker 3: Now we're just like, we know everything about fucking everybody's lives.
- 1:48:03Speaker 1: Whether you want to or not.
- 1:48:05Speaker 2: Um, yeah.
- 1:48:06Speaker 3: And there's just no, like, there's no fucking mystery, man.
- 1:48:11Speaker 3: And that's a big part. I think of, of any
- 1:48:15Speaker 3: art is the mystery of it. You know, like, What
- 1:48:18Speaker 3: are they fucking... motherfucker eat in the morning? Or like, what,
- 1:48:23Speaker 3: you know, just like, what? All the question marks are gone.
- 1:48:28Speaker 3: And you don't see that in new music. There's no,
- 1:48:33Speaker 3: you know, I'm not sitting here going like, fuck, I
- 1:48:36Speaker 3: gotta get down to, Tower Records and wait fucking, you know,
- 1:48:41Speaker 3: overnight for this record to drop.
- 1:48:43Speaker 2: That just, God.
- 1:48:46Speaker 1: Oh, that was so true. It was like, well, even
- 1:48:47Speaker 1: looking back on those magazines and stuff, like, That's how
- 1:48:50Speaker 1: we knew little pieces of shit. It was like Sebastian
- 1:48:54Speaker 1: Bach's head was fucking bleeding. He had no idea why.
- 1:48:56Speaker 1: He didn't know where the picture was. And they told
- 1:49:00Speaker 1: you to blur it. But you're like, fuck, dude. And
- 1:49:02Speaker 1: it's a still picture. It's not a video. Oh, no.
- 1:49:05Speaker 1: Documentary on the whole thing.
- 1:49:07Speaker 2: You're like, fuck, dude.
- 1:49:08Speaker 1: We got to see him when he comes here. We're like,
- 1:49:10Speaker 1: what is going on? And then you start making shit
- 1:49:12Speaker 1: up in your head. Yes. And that's where. That's where
- 1:49:15Speaker 1: creation came from. That's where creativity came from. Yes. You,
- 1:49:19Speaker 1: you came up with how it may have happened.
- 1:49:22Speaker 2: Dude.
- 1:49:22Speaker 1: In waiting outside to get like tickets to something, dude,
- 1:49:25Speaker 1: whether like it was to go see the crew, whether
- 1:49:28Speaker 1: it was to go see guns and roses. Um, uh,
- 1:49:32Speaker 1: Dio lock up the wool, like whether it was to
- 1:49:34Speaker 1: go see fucking three 11, like you'd have to wait
- 1:49:37Speaker 1: out all night. Right. And thankfully some kid would bring
- 1:49:41Speaker 1: like his 11 year old brother and people would get
- 1:49:43Speaker 1: him fucked up for the first time in the parking lot.
- 1:49:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:49:46Speaker 1: You just be watching this fucking like little fat kid
- 1:49:49Speaker 1: fucking like take off his shirt and fucking eat bugs
- 1:49:53Speaker 1: and shit. Oh my God. That would get you from
- 1:49:55Speaker 1: two to four. And then somebody would go to the
- 1:49:57Speaker 1: donut place and, And then it would be 6 and
- 1:49:59Speaker 1: they'd open at 9. Yes, hold the line, dude. And
- 1:50:02Speaker 1: there was still only five people out there. And it
- 1:50:05Speaker 1: would have been fine if you came at 9 a.m.
- 1:50:07Speaker 1: But nah, motherfucker. We waited all night for tickets. That
- 1:50:10Speaker 1: was something to be said. It was like a badge
- 1:50:11Speaker 1: of honor. Yes. And you didn't know what happened. Even
- 1:50:15Speaker 1: when I saw Manton and Twiggy Ramirez, I think one
- 1:50:18Speaker 1: of them, he cut the other guy's stomach or opened
- 1:50:20Speaker 1: a bottle. The ambulances came, took the guy out of there.
- 1:50:25Speaker 1: What just happened? Dude, yeah. I remember being in the bathroom.
- 1:50:28Speaker 1: I was like 14 years old. Some guy goes, how
- 1:50:30Speaker 1: old are these kids in here? And somebody goes, I
- 1:50:33Speaker 1: don't know. They look like they're about 14. And somebody's like,
- 1:50:35Speaker 1: somebody's going to touch them tonight. Somebody said that. And
- 1:50:37Speaker 1: we'd never even heard that before. Like, what is going on?
- 1:50:42Speaker 1: But they took whoever he caught with the box. And
- 1:50:47Speaker 1: we had no idea what happened. That's just your imagination.
- 1:50:50Speaker 1: Like where the fuck is he? You know?
- 1:50:52Speaker 2: Yes, dude. I, that as I missed out.
- 1:50:56Speaker 1: Yeah. I missed that man. I missed it as a
- 1:50:58Speaker 1: possibility kind of.
- 1:51:00Speaker 3: And, and, and, and the other thing along with the
- 1:51:04Speaker 3: mystery is I wish there was less because there's so.
- 1:51:09Speaker 1: Much dude, I'm a fucking musician. I'm in this business.
- 1:51:13Speaker 2: And if I can't keep up, how the fuck is
- 1:51:17Speaker 2: just a, fan who's not a musician or just like
- 1:51:20Speaker 2: a fan of music, keep up.
- 1:51:23Speaker 1: If I can't, dude, there's so much fucking music. Fucking dude,
- 1:51:29Speaker 1: there is so much fucking music. It is insane.
- 1:51:32Speaker 3: Your neck would snap off. And it's just like, how do,
- 1:51:37Speaker 3: and I feel bad for like, for, for, for young people.
- 1:51:40Speaker 3: I'm like, how do they find music?
- 1:51:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:51:43Speaker 1: Just like, fuck. It's just, it's, It's too much, dude.
- 1:51:50Speaker 3: There's not, there's no place to, I mean, I guess
- 1:51:54Speaker 3: that must, maybe it's the opposite. Maybe there's the thrill
- 1:51:58Speaker 3: of that hunt of trying to find something in the
- 1:52:01Speaker 3: barrage that you're like, dude, I found this out there.
- 1:52:06Speaker 3: You know, maybe it's reverse and I shouldn't feel bad
- 1:52:10Speaker 3: for people, but that's, there's too much.
- 1:52:13Speaker 1: There's too much. Too much. Too much. Was there a
- 1:52:17Speaker 1: band that you loved that fell off or that had
- 1:52:19Speaker 1: a singer pass away? Was there something in your time,
- 1:52:22Speaker 1: a group that you really missed? Oh, fuck, man. A few. Fuck. Nirvana. Oh, yeah.
- 1:52:31Speaker 1: Did you guys know them or not?
- 1:52:34Speaker 2: Didn't know them as Nirvana.
- 1:52:37Speaker 1: Just knew the music?
- 1:52:38Speaker 3: Just knew the music, yeah. And later become friends with
- 1:52:42Speaker 3: Dave Grohl and stuff like that.
- 1:52:44Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 1:52:44Speaker 1: I just read his book recently.
- 1:52:45Speaker 2: But, yeah.
- 1:52:46Speaker 1: It's cool. And fucking Soundgarden. Yeah. Fuck, there's been so many.
- 1:52:51Speaker 1: They were a real big influence on me. Fuck. Soundgarden, dude.
- 1:52:56Speaker 1: Fucking Alice in Chains. Dude, there's been so many great fucking.
- 1:53:01Speaker 1: Man in the box. Dude, that was good, dude. Yeah. Yeah, bro,
- 1:53:10Speaker 1: when those things came on, when that shit happened, there
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: was something about it being real. And it was just like,
- 1:53:15Speaker 1: there was a party that started to fucking purr, dude.
- 1:53:18Speaker 2: Yeah, ACDC, Bon Scott. There's another fucking great one.
- 1:53:22Speaker 3: Like, dude, nobody sounds like that guy.
- 1:53:25Speaker 1: Uh-uh.
- 1:53:27Speaker 2: So, yes, there's been a lot.
- 1:53:28Speaker 1: ACDC backhand blast.
- 1:53:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:53:32Speaker 1: Fuck yeah. God, dude. Bro, this dude in our neighborhood,
- 1:53:36Speaker 1: this dude, Eddie, he got a 5.0 fucking Mustang, right?
- 1:53:40Speaker 1: And I remember he put two of the most busted
- 1:53:42Speaker 1: chicks who were also the best looking girls in our
- 1:53:44Speaker 1: neighborhood in it. Yeah. He made them sit on the back, right? Like,
- 1:53:48Speaker 1: Like open, he'd sit on the back trunk, but with
- 1:53:50Speaker 1: their legs inside, right? And he would kind of just
- 1:53:52Speaker 1: drive around town like it was a parade, you know?
- 1:53:54Speaker 1: No way. Just because somebody finally had a car and
- 1:53:57Speaker 1: somebody finally had two chicks in it, right? It was
- 1:53:59Speaker 1: like people in our neighborhood were like, fuck yeah. Yeah, bro.
- 1:54:02Speaker 1: We've all got a chance, dude, right? Yeah, bro. And
- 1:54:06Speaker 1: he bought them both daiquiris one time, these girls. Oh,
- 1:54:10Speaker 1: God bless them. And he came over, and he was
- 1:54:12Speaker 1: just kind of fucking chilling in the street. And then
- 1:54:14Speaker 1: he played Back in Black, and he fucking floored it,
- 1:54:17Speaker 1: and both of them fucking tumbled right out of the back.
- 1:54:20Speaker 1: Back in Black, dude. Yeah, dude. Yeah, dude. And I
- 1:54:25Speaker 1: think he left town. He was so ashamed. Just like
- 1:54:29Speaker 1: the fucking amount of shame that people would have for shit. Oh, God,
- 1:54:32Speaker 1: that was fucking awesome. That is.
- 1:54:34Speaker 2: That sounds awesome.
- 1:54:36Speaker 1: Yeah. When the closest you could get to rock and
- 1:54:37Speaker 1: roll is just some kid in the street was just
- 1:54:39Speaker 1: throwing a fucking rock against a stop sign in here.
- 1:54:41Speaker 1: And that fucking thing, you know? Yes.
- 1:54:44Speaker 2: Fucking did the the car.
- 1:54:46Speaker 3: The the doors are rattled because the kids got fucking like.
- 1:54:50Speaker 3: you know, three 18s in the trunk.
- 1:54:53Speaker 1: It's a rock for five skates or whatever. And that
- 1:54:55Speaker 1: bitch is just, the whole capture does fucking fall. The
- 1:54:59Speaker 1: lights are breaking. It's a brand new car. He gets
- 1:55:03Speaker 1: two blocks. He gets pulled over for not having everything.
- 1:55:06Speaker 1: Oh man. It was quite a time, man. It was
- 1:55:11Speaker 1: the best time. Yeah, dude. You know what?
- 1:55:14Speaker 3: That's that, that statement right there. Um, That's one of
- 1:55:20Speaker 3: the fucking coolest things ever. When people watch the dirt,
- 1:55:24Speaker 3: that's one of the biggest things I hear from people.
- 1:55:29Speaker 3: They're like, from the younger kids, they're like, man, is
- 1:55:33Speaker 3: that what it was fucking like? Like, all this shit's real, right?
- 1:55:39Speaker 2: I'm like, yes.
- 1:55:39Speaker 3: And I'm like, they'll never know. And that's what they say.
- 1:55:42Speaker 3: They're like, we can't even, like, we can't even imagine that. Like,
- 1:55:54Speaker 3: you can't do any of that stuff anymore.
- 1:55:59Speaker 2: Like, you guys just fucking, you know, that part, it's
- 1:56:04Speaker 2: a nice thing to hear, but it also bums me
- 1:56:06Speaker 2: out because that was at a time where.
- 1:56:09Speaker 1: Anything fucking goes, dude. Anything goes.
- 1:56:13Speaker 3: There's no Instagram or, like, people with cell phones taking pictures.
- 1:56:17Speaker 1: And, like, ratting you out or doing, Anything goes, dude.
- 1:56:22Speaker 1: And the moment had so much value because it was
- 1:56:25Speaker 1: all you had. Yes. You weren't going to be able
- 1:56:27Speaker 1: to relive it later. Like maybe you get a still image,
- 1:56:30Speaker 1: but the fucking moment. Dude. Now the moment sometimes it's
- 1:56:34Speaker 1: just like, even the moments like I'm fucking give up. Yeah.
- 1:56:38Speaker 1: It's like I can't compete with the repetition of me
- 1:56:41Speaker 1: that there is out there. That's what I feel like
- 1:56:43Speaker 1: so many times. Yeah, dude. And even storytellers had more
- 1:56:46Speaker 1: value because you had to tell the story, dude. The
- 1:56:50Speaker 1: best thing was I'd go somewhere, nothing would happen. I'd
- 1:56:53Speaker 1: go to school the next day and everything had happened. Yes.
- 1:56:56Speaker 1: And it was like, fuck yeah, dude. Dude, the moment, bro.
- 1:57:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:57:02Speaker 1: It was so cool. Right? Right? But.
- 1:57:06Speaker 2: I guess we just got to keep making those moments.
- 1:57:09Speaker 1: Yeah. We got to do our best, you know? And
- 1:57:10Speaker 1: you do it by taking on a new marriage. That's
- 1:57:13Speaker 1: seven years. That's congratulations, man. That's amazing.
- 1:57:15Speaker 2: Oh, thanks, buddy.
- 1:57:17Speaker 1: And building a new house.
- 1:57:18Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:57:19Speaker 1: And keep trimming our trees down to keep the shit,
- 1:57:22Speaker 1: what we want that's important to us, like our sons
- 1:57:25Speaker 1: and our music. And keeping alive all the fucking stories
- 1:57:31Speaker 1: as much as we can, you know, by sitting and
- 1:57:33Speaker 1: talking with people about them. Yes. Thank you so much, Tommy.
- 1:57:37Speaker 1: I appreciate it, man. It's nice to get to know you.
- 1:57:38Speaker 2: And....
- 1:57:40Speaker 1: Thank you for fucking just, yeah, making me fucking angry
- 1:57:44Speaker 1: at everybody in my fucking.
- 1:57:45Speaker 2: Neighborhood, dude.
- 1:57:46Speaker 1: In a fucking awesome way, dude. Dude, I would sing
- 1:57:51Speaker 1: girls and then jerk off and I'd be like, I
- 1:57:53Speaker 1: feel like I just was on a date, you know? Like,
- 1:57:55Speaker 1: it was just fucking awesome, dude. We heard girls and
- 1:57:58Speaker 1: we're like, we're gonna get girls, dude. And we never
- 1:58:01Speaker 1: got girls, bro. But we fucking sang that shit, dude.
- 1:58:04Speaker 2: Dude, I fucking love you, man.
- 1:58:06Speaker 1: God, it was fucking good.
- 1:58:08Speaker 2: Dude, yeah, yeah.
- 1:58:10Speaker 1: Fuck! Thank you for having me. And I look forward
- 1:58:15Speaker 1: to our friendship, man. Thanks, man. Y'all want to come
- 1:58:17Speaker 1: and see the trees, man.
- 1:58:19Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure, dude.
- 1:58:20Speaker 1: For sure. And I love your wife makes me laugh
- 1:58:22Speaker 1: so much. Her and Brittany Schmidt have a podcast. Bring
- 1:58:26Speaker 1: it up right now. I just want to see it
- 1:58:27Speaker 1: real quick. So I have to have them come on sometime. Oh,
- 1:58:34Speaker 1: you're having them come over here? Yeah, sometime. Yeah, dude.
- 1:58:37Speaker 1: That's right. We need some fucking white bitches in here. Sorry.
- 1:58:41Speaker 1: And I'm talking about Brittany Schmidt. I'm not talking about
- 1:58:42Speaker 1: your wife. This is the worst podcast with Brittany Furlan
- 1:58:49Speaker 1: and Brittany Schmidt. Tommy Lee, thank you for everything, dude. Yeah, bro.
- 1:58:55Speaker 1: I hope you stay alive for absolutely ever. Fuck yeah.
- 1:58:58Speaker 1: Fuck yeah.
