- 0:09Speaker 1: Welcome into the first episode of Inside the Charge. Matti
- 0:12Speaker 1: glab here as your host with one of our linebackers,
- 0:15Speaker 1: Terrell Bernard. In our first episode, we hope to go
- 0:18Speaker 1: beyond the x's and o's, bring you fun conversations, talk
- 0:22Speaker 1: pop culture, talk fashion, and learn about our guests like
- 0:26Speaker 1: never before. So Terrell Bernard, you are our number one
- 0:30Speaker 1: guest to start this thing off. You were the third
- 0:33Speaker 1: round pick in the twenty twenty two NFL Draft, and
- 0:36Speaker 1: in your second year with the Bills, you are now
- 0:38Speaker 1: starting which has been so awesome to see, so cool
- 0:41Speaker 1: to see the impact that you've had on the field
- 0:44Speaker 1: in such short amount of time. We're going to get
- 0:45Speaker 1: into all of that, but first and foremost, we want
- 0:48Speaker 1: to talk about some of the best fits so far
- 0:50Speaker 1: this season. All there have been six games so far,
- 1:02Speaker 1: and the guys have been rocking the fits. I feel
- 1:06Speaker 1: like I say this all the time, but you're the
- 1:08Speaker 1: primetime Bills now and you guys step it up in
- 1:11Speaker 1: the primetime windows. So I wanted to show off some
- 1:15Speaker 1: of what I've thought are the best fits. I'm sure
- 1:17Speaker 1: maybe I'll agree with some of these, but let's go
- 1:19Speaker 1: through what we have pulled so far this season. All right,
- 1:24Speaker 1: So these were two London fits Steph digs and we
- 1:29Speaker 1: know how Steph dresses. One of the best on the team,
- 1:32Speaker 1: Von Miller brings the heat as well. What did you
- 1:34Speaker 1: think of these two fits?
- 1:36Speaker 2: Yeah, like you said, you know Steph, Steph's always coming
- 1:39Speaker 2: with something new, uh, you know, really setting the trends
- 1:42Speaker 2: for really all around the league. So I think, yeah,
- 1:45Speaker 2: this one is definitely up there with one of his best.
- 1:48Speaker 2: I think he's put on all season for sure.
- 1:50Speaker 1: It was like green leather you see you see.
- 1:53Speaker 2: The leather jacket, he's got the bag. Yeah, it's a
- 1:57Speaker 2: it's a clean fit.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Some black pants nice, yeah, exactly what do you think
- 2:01Speaker 1: of on there?
- 2:03Speaker 2: Von's clean too. You know, I like his because he
- 2:06Speaker 2: comes with the Texas vibes every now and then. But
- 2:09Speaker 2: you know at this one, he's got the pink pink
- 2:12Speaker 2: shirt on with the brown pants, which I like, subtle
- 2:15Speaker 2: pink laces down.
- 2:16Speaker 3: There with the shoes.
- 2:17Speaker 1: He brings it all together when you bring it all together.
- 2:19Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure.
- 2:20Speaker 2: He's got the Louis v bag too, so you know
- 2:23Speaker 2: that always ties it together pretty nice.
- 2:24Speaker 1: All right, let's bring up the next ones. Okay, we
- 2:27Speaker 1: got two more fits to look at. Here's Gabe Davis.
- 2:31Speaker 1: I believe this was the first game of the season, Yes,
- 2:34Speaker 1: this was week one. And then Saran Neil his fit
- 2:37Speaker 1: from the Commander's week. And if you're looking at Gabe,
- 2:40Speaker 1: he's got like a little blue jacket with some cool
- 2:43Speaker 1: designs on it, some pants that are like mustardy green,
- 2:47Speaker 1: I want to say. And then Soran's got like just
- 2:49Speaker 1: an all denim fit on. So what do you think
- 2:51Speaker 1: of these two?
- 2:52Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, Gabes, I like how he laidered it together.
- 2:55Speaker 2: You know, he's got a lot of different colors going on,
- 2:57Speaker 2: but it all it all flows together nicely. You see
- 3:00Speaker 2: the Babe suitcase he's got on, So yeah, I feel
- 3:04Speaker 2: like you put it. Yeah, he put it together pretty nice,
- 3:07Speaker 2: Like the hat ties it all together.
- 3:08Speaker 3: Yeah, and then moving it to you know, Saran.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Saran is another guy that comes with some fits every
- 3:14Speaker 2: single week. You know, he's probably I would say him
- 3:17Speaker 2: and him and Steff probably top top to top to
- 3:20Speaker 2: every week.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Great job.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I think everybody called this his little Nascar fit.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Yea though I like it all right, let's get to
- 3:30Speaker 1: the next ones, because there's a couple more than we
- 3:32Speaker 1: want to show and talk about. All right, our last three.
- 3:36Speaker 1: So this Shack loss and fit. He's got some some
- 3:40Speaker 1: army green pants on and he's got a nice green
- 3:43Speaker 1: top on. The chains, always the chains. And then we
- 3:48Speaker 1: got Trent Sherfield, who is the best dressed in terms
- 3:52Speaker 1: of the suits that he wears every single game. And
- 3:55Speaker 1: then Ed Oliver, Oh my gosh, this is from the
- 3:58Speaker 1: Raiders week. It's just like a fuzzy set of a
- 4:03Speaker 1: purple fuzzy set. I would say, so what do you
- 4:05Speaker 1: make of these three?
- 4:06Speaker 2: Yeah, with dog Shack, you know, he's always, like he said,
- 4:09Speaker 2: he's always got the chains on, always rocking it.
- 4:12Speaker 3: So I think it's clean, got the raspberry.
- 4:15Speaker 2: Hill pants on, clean top, and you know he put
- 4:18Speaker 2: it together with the A six, so I think I
- 4:20Speaker 2: think it's a clean fit.
- 4:22Speaker 3: Same thing with Trent.
- 4:23Speaker 2: You know, he comes every single week with suit and tie,
- 4:26Speaker 2: businessman coming in looking super professional.
- 4:28Speaker 1: And it's like it was. It's like a brown suit
- 4:31Speaker 1: and it's against some fall like leaves, you're starting to
- 4:34Speaker 1: see a fall foliage. It just looks perfect, like straight
- 4:36Speaker 1: out of a magazine exactly.
- 4:37Speaker 2: Yeah, he's always got the GQ GQ type fit on,
- 4:40Speaker 2: so I respect it, and then you know, moving to Ed,
- 4:43Speaker 2: Ed always got always got something nice on too. He's
- 4:46Speaker 2: got the fuzzy fit on. I think he's got the
- 4:48Speaker 2: slides the match too. I don't think he yeah he
- 4:51Speaker 2: didn't wear him this week, but he's he's got the
- 4:52Speaker 2: slides the match. But yeah, he's always got it onto.
- 4:55Speaker 2: So we've got a ton of guys that put it together.
- 4:58Speaker 1: They do put it together, and I love see what
- 5:00Speaker 1: they put on every single week. I love the defensive
- 5:02Speaker 1: line and how they take like a D line group
- 5:04Speaker 1: page heading out to the stadium for home games. I
- 5:07Speaker 1: think that's epic. I love their togetherness. Let's talk about
- 5:11Speaker 1: some of your fits though, because you put together some
- 5:14Speaker 1: nice to clean looks. It's not it's not over the top.
- 5:17Speaker 1: You know. Some of our guys like Trent, they're they're
- 5:20Speaker 1: dripped out in their suits and and Shack and Saran Will.
- 5:23Speaker 1: We'll pop with the colors and how they put pieces together.
- 5:27Speaker 1: But I think your looks are very clean. So we're
- 5:29Speaker 1: looking at a few of them right now. We've got
- 5:31Speaker 1: like an all beige fit set. We got some all
- 5:33Speaker 1: black here, and then we got some white and some khaki.
- 5:36Speaker 1: So how do you put your looks together. What you
- 5:39Speaker 1: what would you describe your style as?
- 5:41Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, I think my style is more just
- 5:44Speaker 2: clean and simple and comfortable. You know, I'm not the
- 5:47Speaker 2: type to go out out of my way to you know,
- 5:50Speaker 2: make it pop or do anything like that, but you know,
- 5:52Speaker 2: I feel like that matches my personality. So yeah, like
- 5:55Speaker 2: I said, I put together something that I'm comfortable in.
- 5:58Speaker 2: But you know still, you know, kind of gives me
- 6:00Speaker 2: a nice little comfy, cozy vibe.
- 6:03Speaker 3: So yeah, not too much, but.
- 6:04Speaker 1: A little something comfy cozy vibes. I love it. How
- 6:07Speaker 1: early do you put these looks together? Are you somebody
- 6:10Speaker 1: who's like the night before the day of just going
- 6:13Speaker 1: through your closet, or are you ordering stuff beforehand, thinking like, okay,
- 6:17Speaker 1: I need some new pieces for game day. How do
- 6:19Speaker 1: you go about it?
- 6:20Speaker 3: Yeah? No, I'm really a day of type of guy.
- 6:22Speaker 3: You know. I don't put too much thought into it.
- 6:25Speaker 2: You know, whenever I get home, grab something phil what
- 6:28Speaker 2: I like, see if it's fitting me how I wanted to,
- 6:30Speaker 2: and then throw it on and go.
- 6:32Speaker 3: So yeah, I wouldn't say I put too much.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Thought into I would say your style most resembles Matt
- 6:38Speaker 1: Milano but I want to clear the air. It's not
- 6:41Speaker 1: like you're trying to be Matt Milana at all. You
- 6:43Speaker 1: have your own personality, your own vibe. We love Matt Milano,
- 6:45Speaker 1: by the way. We hope he gets well very quickly.
- 6:49Speaker 1: But you guys just say it just our two linebackers
- 6:51Speaker 1: who tend to have the same sense of.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Fashion, right, Yeah, for sure, I think, you know, I
- 6:56Speaker 2: think it goes back to the personality. I feel like
- 6:57Speaker 2: people addressed to their personality, and me and him are
- 7:00Speaker 2: pretty pretty similar in that way, so you know, it
- 7:03Speaker 2: kind of comes out, and you know, the pregame fits.
- 7:05Speaker 1: I like that. All right, Chrell, Let's get into talking
- 7:16Speaker 1: about you a little bit more of the season that
- 7:18Speaker 1: you've had so far, because it's been awesome to watch
- 7:20Speaker 1: you lead the team right now with total tackles. You
- 7:23Speaker 1: also tie for the team lead with two interceptions. You've
- 7:26Speaker 1: been all over the field making plays, and I know
- 7:28Speaker 1: it's something that has been not necessarily a long time
- 7:31Speaker 1: coming because you are a younger player on this team,
- 7:33Speaker 1: but I know you've put in a lot of work
- 7:34Speaker 1: to be able to get where you're at right now
- 7:37Speaker 1: in the game, and your comfortability in this defense and
- 7:40Speaker 1: impact that if you had, you've had on the field.
- 7:42Speaker 1: So first and foremost, what's been the best part about
- 7:45Speaker 1: stepping into this role as the starting middle linebacker on
- 7:48Speaker 1: the team.
- 7:49Speaker 2: Yeah, I would just say, you know, getting getting comfortable
- 7:52Speaker 2: being around the guys and making sure they're comfortable with me,
- 7:55Speaker 2: you know, being in the middle of the defense. I think,
- 7:58Speaker 2: you know, having the trust of your teammates and the
- 8:00Speaker 2: coaches and you know it really just everybody around you.
- 8:03Speaker 2: That's what you know makes the game so special and
- 8:05Speaker 2: has made it, you know, so much more fun, just
- 8:08Speaker 2: you know, being around and being in the mix and
- 8:09Speaker 2: being able to make plays and you know, do what
- 8:11Speaker 2: I can to help the team win.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Having that trust your teammates something you spoke about. I know,
- 8:15Speaker 1: it takes a lot of people to to put a
- 8:18Speaker 1: defense together, but also it's a lot to come in
- 8:21Speaker 1: as a rookie, last year, second year player now and
- 8:24Speaker 1: learn a defense that the Bills operate. So who helped
- 8:28Speaker 1: you kind of learn this defense? You talked about having
- 8:30Speaker 1: the trust of your teammates. I know, you guys help
- 8:33Speaker 1: each other out when it comes to learning things. So
- 8:35Speaker 1: who's somebody that you leaned on in that process?
- 8:37Speaker 3: Yeah? For sure.
- 8:38Speaker 2: I think you know, started last year with with Matt obviously,
- 8:42Speaker 2: was backing him up and kind of learning the position
- 8:44Speaker 2: and learning the defense as a whole. And then you know,
- 8:47Speaker 2: Tyrell has been great, you know, helping me out. He's
- 8:50Speaker 2: been here for a long time, really knows the system
- 8:52Speaker 2: really well. And then you know, obviously Bobby the linebacker's coach,
- 8:56Speaker 2: has been you know incredible.
- 8:58Speaker 3: He's super detail.
- 9:00Speaker 2: And you know, really really does a really good job
- 9:04Speaker 2: of you know, breaking it down to where we can
- 9:06Speaker 2: understand it because he has probably you know, one of
- 9:08Speaker 2: the best football minds that I've I've ever been around.
- 9:11Speaker 2: Uh So, you know, all those guys in the room
- 9:13Speaker 2: have have been incredible helps. Aj Klein as well, just
- 9:17Speaker 2: veteran guys that that have been willing to you know,
- 9:19Speaker 2: put the time in too to help me really you know,
- 9:21Speaker 2: be able to excel my game.
- 9:22Speaker 1: There's a lot of different personalities in the linebacker's room,
- 9:25Speaker 1: So where do you fit into it? Who's the loudest?
- 9:29Speaker 1: How does that all work together? Is Bobby Babbage the
- 9:31Speaker 1: loudest because he's a fun guy too.
- 9:33Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure, Now Bobby Bobby is definitely the loudest.
- 9:37Speaker 2: I would say I would say Tyroll is like the
- 9:40Speaker 2: childish one, breaks up the yeah jokes or breaks up
- 9:43Speaker 2: the tension every now and then you got a j.
- 9:46Speaker 2: Klein who's kind of like the dad of the group,
- 9:48Speaker 2: you know, keeps everybody in check. Yeah, for sure. You
- 9:51Speaker 2: got Tyler, Mattacavitch, dirty Red, He's he's like, yeah, he's
- 9:55Speaker 2: like the uncle of the group, kind of somebody you
- 9:57Speaker 2: can lean on, but still is going to joke around
- 9:59Speaker 2: with you. So, you know, we got a well rounded
- 10:02Speaker 2: group of guys that kind of, you know, keep everybody
- 10:05Speaker 2: level and keep everybody you know, in a good place.
- 10:08Speaker 3: So it's been it's been fun to be a part
- 10:09Speaker 3: of that.
- 10:10Speaker 1: And then how do you fit into all that? What's
- 10:11Speaker 1: your personality? What do you bring into the table and
- 10:13Speaker 1: the linebackers?
- 10:14Speaker 2: Yeah, I would say, you know, me and Tyrell are
- 10:17Speaker 2: probably complete opposites, just like how we are, but we
- 10:21Speaker 2: we've gotten you know, so close over the last couple
- 10:23Speaker 2: of years, so I think, you know, really just being
- 10:26Speaker 2: the calm, uh you know, softer spoken guy in the room.
- 10:30Speaker 2: But you know, when it when it's time to go
- 10:31Speaker 2: out there and play, you know, it's a it's a
- 10:33Speaker 2: different game.
- 10:34Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure.
- 10:35Speaker 1: Okay, So calm and collected, peaceful, chill. Has this always
- 10:39Speaker 1: been your personality or is this something that that you've
- 10:43Speaker 1: taken on later in life.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I would say I would say it's been a
- 10:47Speaker 2: part of me. But I feel like as I've gotten,
- 10:48Speaker 2: you know, a little bit older, it's kind of come
- 10:50Speaker 2: out more. I feel like obviously, you know, growing up,
- 10:53Speaker 2: you're always a little bit childish and you know, goofy
- 10:56Speaker 2: and silly and that type of thing. But you know,
- 10:58Speaker 2: the past couple of years, I feel like I've mellowed
- 11:00Speaker 2: out a lot and kind of just you know, have
- 11:03Speaker 2: a different mindset, have a different mentality of like how
- 11:05Speaker 2: I come in and how I want to be every
- 11:07Speaker 2: day and then trying to be consistent in that and
- 11:09Speaker 2: you know, bring that every single day.
- 11:11Speaker 1: So what is that mindset and mentality that you bring
- 11:14Speaker 1: into the building every day? Because it's different for everybody.
- 11:17Speaker 1: So where does your mindset lie within your goals and
- 11:22Speaker 1: what you want to do here?
- 11:23Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 11:23Speaker 2: You know, I think for me, you know, it's just
- 11:26Speaker 2: always stay to myself and you know, realizing what I
- 11:30Speaker 2: need to get done for the day and understanding that
- 11:33Speaker 2: I've got a process and you know, steps that I
- 11:35Speaker 2: take every single day to to reach that end goal.
- 11:40Speaker 2: But like I said, just focusing on the process. You know,
- 11:42Speaker 2: there's not there's not a ton of things that I'm
- 11:45Speaker 2: going outside of myself to do. But uh, you know,
- 11:47Speaker 2: I work with Will Greenberg a lot, and he's kind
- 11:50Speaker 2: of helped me shape how I want to you know,
- 11:53Speaker 2: level my days and how I want to you know,
- 11:55Speaker 2: fix my mindset and really you know, focus on how
- 11:59Speaker 2: I want to get better every single day. So, you know,
- 12:02Speaker 2: working with him and you know, just kind of reflecting
- 12:04Speaker 2: every single day and going back and forth on you know,
- 12:07Speaker 2: things that I can tweak, things that I can adjust,
- 12:09Speaker 2: and just with my personality, how how I've been able
- 12:13Speaker 2: to grow and just see where I'm at, you know,
- 12:15Speaker 2: even from last year to this year has been it's
- 12:17Speaker 2: been great to see.
- 12:18Speaker 1: Yeah, when you look back from last year to this year,
- 12:20Speaker 1: are you are you like, Wow, I've come a long
- 12:23Speaker 1: way and what I've learned and what I've been able
- 12:25Speaker 1: to do and how I've matured and and how does
- 12:27Speaker 1: that kind of hit for you when you think about
- 12:29Speaker 1: all that.
- 12:29Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure, it's been it's been a huge, a
- 12:32Speaker 2: huge difference. I would say, you know, my rookie year,
- 12:34Speaker 2: I feel like there was just so much going on
- 12:36Speaker 2: and I was just trying to figure out where I.
- 12:37Speaker 3: Fit in and all of that stuff.
- 12:40Speaker 2: But you know, this year is it feels it feels
- 12:42Speaker 2: like it's been different. Just my mentality, my mindset, obviously
- 12:47Speaker 2: my role on the field has changed. So really putting
- 12:50Speaker 2: all that together and you know, staying within myself and
- 12:52Speaker 2: staying true to myself, it's been.
- 12:55Speaker 3: It's been. It's been fun so far.
- 12:56Speaker 1: I mean, your role has changed quite a bit from
- 12:59Speaker 1: last year to this year. And just learning I talked
- 13:02Speaker 1: about earlier, but like learning a defense, and then this year,
- 13:06Speaker 1: you are just so confident in what you do on
- 13:08Speaker 1: the field. You fly around, you are making an impact.
- 13:12Speaker 1: You've had takeaways, You've had important tackles and important situations
- 13:18Speaker 1: down distance, things like that. Why have you been able
- 13:22Speaker 1: to be so confident? Because it's a lot to go from,
- 13:25Speaker 1: especially when you're a younger player in this league, it's
- 13:28Speaker 1: a lot to go from. I'm backing somebody up, I'm
- 13:32Speaker 1: in when I need to be in. I'm playing a
- 13:34Speaker 1: role in special teams too. Oh, I'm in the center
- 13:37Speaker 1: of this defense and I'm calling the plays. And you
- 13:40Speaker 1: need to be confident in that, and you've been able
- 13:42Speaker 1: to do that surrounded by so many older guys around you.
- 13:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I think, yeah, it goes back to just what
- 13:49Speaker 2: you said, the guys around me, you know, having Mat
- 13:52Speaker 2: by my side, having you know, j Poe and Micah
- 13:54Speaker 2: behind me, Ed and all those guys up front. You know,
- 13:57Speaker 2: they've been they've been nothing, but you know, amazing to
- 14:00Speaker 2: me and have helped me along the way.
- 14:03Speaker 3: And you know, I.
- 14:03Speaker 2: Think it started really in OTAs in training camp, just
- 14:08Speaker 2: you know, having confidence in myself. You know, there's gonna
- 14:11Speaker 2: be mistakes, there's gonna be things you wish you could
- 14:13Speaker 2: take back, and things like that. But at the end
- 14:15Speaker 2: of the day, you know, I'm confident in who I
- 14:17Speaker 2: am as a person and who I am as a player,
- 14:19Speaker 2: and I feel like that has helped me translate that
- 14:21Speaker 2: to to being confident on the field, and you know,
- 14:24Speaker 2: building the confidence of my teammates and the coaches around me.
- 14:27Speaker 3: So you know, it was it was definitely a.
- 14:29Speaker 2: Long process and I'm still in the process of it
- 14:31Speaker 2: right now, but you know, the preparation and all the
- 14:35Speaker 2: work that goes into end up playing on Sunday, I
- 14:38Speaker 2: feel like that's what helps build your confidence on the field,
- 14:42Speaker 2: and so that's something I look forward to, you know,
- 14:43Speaker 2: trying to continue and really, you know, just just maximizing
- 14:48Speaker 2: who I am as a person and as a player.
- 14:50Speaker 1: I think confidence starts you off the field. It starts
- 14:53Speaker 1: with confidence and belief in who you are as person.
- 14:55Speaker 1: And I know, I think every single person struggles with
- 14:59Speaker 1: confidence in in different avenues of life, in different situations.
- 15:02Speaker 1: So how are you able to initially find that confidence
- 15:05Speaker 1: in yourself? Because I think it's something that everybody can
- 15:08Speaker 1: take things from.
- 15:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I think I think it started with just self
- 15:11Speaker 2: reflection of you know, who I am and what I've
- 15:16Speaker 2: done and everything that I've done to get up to
- 15:18Speaker 2: this point. And you know, it's it's definitely a different
- 15:21Speaker 2: league when you get here. So you know, obviously there
- 15:24Speaker 2: was times and there still are times that I wasn't
- 15:26Speaker 2: you know, super confident in myself and super confident.
- 15:29Speaker 3: And you know the abilities that I have.
- 15:31Speaker 2: But you know, going back and just thinking about everything
- 15:35Speaker 2: that it took to get to this point, you know,
- 15:36Speaker 2: I feel like I know I know the process and
- 15:41Speaker 2: I know what it takes, so I have confidence in
- 15:44Speaker 2: that and confidence that you know, whatever it is I.
- 15:47Speaker 3: Can figure it out.
- 15:47Speaker 1: That's awesome. So a game week is it's different for everybody,
- 15:52Speaker 1: but it's similar in a lot of ways because of
- 15:55Speaker 1: the schedule that you guys have. You have your Monday
- 15:57Speaker 1: and Tuesdays where you're not necessarily practice for the game ahead.
- 16:01Speaker 1: Tuesdays or your day off Mondays, you guys kind of
- 16:03Speaker 1: look back, watch some tape, walk through some things, and
- 16:06Speaker 1: then you got Wednesday, Thursday, Friday where you're kind of
- 16:09Speaker 1: focused on the game ahead. Within all of that, what
- 16:12Speaker 1: does Terrell Bernard do to get ready for a game?
- 16:15Speaker 1: Because everybody has their different things that they do, So
- 16:19Speaker 1: what's what's kind of something that you do, whether it's
- 16:23Speaker 1: the film you watch, whether it's the people that you
- 16:25Speaker 1: talk to, whether it's the discussions that you have that
- 16:28Speaker 1: have helped you get ready for a game day. In
- 16:30Speaker 1: your first year as a full time.
- 16:31Speaker 2: Starter on this team, yeah, I think you know, like
- 16:34Speaker 2: you said, Monday and Tuesdays are the days that we
- 16:35Speaker 2: don't practice, so maximizing those days to mentally be locked
- 16:39Speaker 2: in and ready for the next week. Monday, you know,
- 16:43Speaker 2: going over the previous game and making adjustments and corrections
- 16:45Speaker 2: and that type of thing, and then you know, Tuesday,
- 16:48Speaker 2: you know, I'm doing extra meetings with Bobby, going up
- 16:51Speaker 2: and meeting with coach mc dermott, just to get a
- 16:53Speaker 2: feel for, you know, the week and how we're going
- 16:55Speaker 2: to prepare that type of thing.
- 16:58Speaker 3: And then you know, watch an extra tape by myself
- 17:00Speaker 3: off at.
- 17:00Speaker 2: Home as well as you know, when the day's over,
- 17:03Speaker 2: watching it with some of the guys, you know, we
- 17:05Speaker 2: all go together and communicate, and so by the time
- 17:09Speaker 2: Sunday gets here, you know, we're all on the same
- 17:11Speaker 2: page and we're all rolling as one unit. So it
- 17:14Speaker 2: makes it It makes it a lot more easy or
- 17:15Speaker 2: a lot easier whenever we're out there together.
- 17:18Speaker 1: How many hours of film do you think you watch
- 17:20Speaker 1: a week?
- 17:21Speaker 3: Ah?
- 17:22Speaker 2: Man, Yeah, I would say I would say, Man, I
- 17:27Speaker 2: can't even put a number on it. You know, I
- 17:29Speaker 2: feel like I feel like it's a ton though.
- 17:31Speaker 1: Is there one day where you really grind film you
- 17:33Speaker 1: feel like you you take on a lot of it.
- 17:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I would say I would say Tuesdays and Fridays
- 17:39Speaker 2: are probably my days where I put the most time in.
- 17:42Speaker 2: You know, Tuesdays obviously are off day.
- 17:44Speaker 1: So.
- 17:45Speaker 2: Having that time just in the morning and the training
- 17:47Speaker 2: room while I'm getting treatment, or whenever I get home,
- 17:50Speaker 2: watching watching the tape with you know, the notes that
- 17:52Speaker 2: I took over the meetings that we have, or you know,
- 17:57Speaker 2: just having that extra time. And then Fridays as well, well,
- 18:00Speaker 2: you know, we have a shorter day, so we get
- 18:02Speaker 2: out of here, we watch the tape after practice, and
- 18:04Speaker 2: then you know, got some time to get home and
- 18:07Speaker 2: you know, really review the entire game plan and figure
- 18:10Speaker 2: out if there's any questions that need to be answered
- 18:12Speaker 2: or anything that I need to communicate to anybody else
- 18:15Speaker 2: to make sure we're all on the same page.
- 18:16Speaker 3: So I'd say those days are probably you have so.
- 18:19Speaker 1: Much to do as a member of this defense that's
- 18:22Speaker 1: one of the best in the NFL, and as somebody
- 18:24Speaker 1: who's calling plays on defense. Hows how has that been
- 18:27Speaker 1: adjusting to being the voice that people here on Sundays
- 18:31Speaker 1: in games where sometimes you can't even hear yourself.
- 18:35Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure, No, it's been. It's been a huge adjustment.
- 18:39Speaker 2: But it's, like I said, it's super fun. You know,
- 18:42Speaker 2: Like you said, there's times where Bill's Mafia is so
- 18:45Speaker 2: loud that I can't I can't hear myself, think I
- 18:47Speaker 2: can't hear myself talk I can't hear the call that's
- 18:50Speaker 2: coming in after coach McDermott. So yeah, it comes back
- 18:53Speaker 2: to just the preparation, or you calm in.
- 18:55Speaker 1: Those moments, because if that was me, and I've never
- 18:58Speaker 1: played it down of football in my life, if so,
- 19:00Speaker 1: of course this would be me. But I would be
- 19:03Speaker 1: freaking out in those moments. How do you stay calm?
- 19:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it's just it comes back to the preparation.
- 19:08Speaker 2: You know, I stressed myself out during the week of
- 19:12Speaker 2: preparation and practice of just feeling that anxiety and feeling
- 19:15Speaker 2: that nervousness, and I've come to a point where I've
- 19:19Speaker 2: gotten comfortable with it and I actually look forward to it.
- 19:22Speaker 2: So when it comes out on Sunday, you know, I
- 19:24Speaker 2: feel like I've already been there, I've already played the game.
- 19:26Speaker 2: I've already done it all in my head, so it's
- 19:29Speaker 2: just going out there and executing at that point.
- 19:31Speaker 1: So you get yourself in like the worst possible scenario
- 19:34Speaker 1: during practices so that by the time you get to
- 19:36Speaker 1: the games, you're like, nothing's going to phase me today
- 19:39Speaker 1: one hundred percent.
- 19:40Speaker 3: Yeah, I think.
- 19:41Speaker 2: You know, if you don't do that in practice, you know,
- 19:43Speaker 2: if you get out there on Sunday, it's going to
- 19:45Speaker 2: be too much. And you know, sometimes you can get
- 19:48Speaker 2: lost in the mix of all this stuff going on
- 19:51Speaker 2: if you're not completely out in and completely focused. So
- 19:54Speaker 2: I take the time during the week of practice to
- 19:57Speaker 2: just stress myself out and make it feel like every
- 19:59Speaker 2: single day is Sunday, so by the time we get
- 20:02Speaker 2: out there, you know, it's it's just another day for me.
- 20:05Speaker 1: I like that. I like that we got to get
- 20:07Speaker 1: into you being from Texas because I know that's just
- 20:10Speaker 1: a whole vibe for all the Texas people. Sure on
- 20:13Speaker 1: this team. You spoke about Vaughn and we were talking
- 20:16Speaker 1: about one of his fits and you said, you know,
- 20:18Speaker 1: shout out vaugh because he's also from Texas. So you're
- 20:21Speaker 1: from Laporte, Texas. You played high school there, and then
- 20:24Speaker 1: you obviously stayed there for college football playing at Baylor.
- 20:28Speaker 1: What does it mean I'm not from Texas? So what
- 20:30Speaker 1: does it mean to be from Texas to Repid? Do
- 20:33Speaker 1: you still rep it as far as tell me about that.
- 20:37Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm a Texan throw and through.
- 20:39Speaker 2: You know, I love Texas. All my family is in Texas, obviously,
- 20:44Speaker 2: you know, I feel like just the people, the food,
- 20:48Speaker 2: the culture, everything about it.
- 20:50Speaker 3: I love it.
- 20:51Speaker 2: And you know, like like you said, you know Vaughn
- 20:53Speaker 2: and Ed some of the other guys from Texas, you know,
- 20:56Speaker 2: we have a special bond. I know Vn was making
- 20:59Speaker 2: fun of me because I went to Baylor, but you know,
- 21:02Speaker 2: are all of our all of our guys that are
- 21:04Speaker 2: from Texas. You know, we got a we got a
- 21:06Speaker 2: special bond.
- 21:06Speaker 1: What's the special bond? What is it that with like
- 21:09Speaker 1: we just don't people not from Texas just can't understand.
- 21:12Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:12Speaker 2: I think it's just a it's a Southern thing. You know,
- 21:14Speaker 2: you have a you have a type of relationship with
- 21:17Speaker 2: people around you that it's just different. I feel like
- 21:20Speaker 2: and you know, I feel like Buffalo is, you know,
- 21:22Speaker 2: really similar to that, which I didn't I didn't know
- 21:25Speaker 2: and I wasn't expecting when I got here. But just
- 21:28Speaker 2: the how you treat people and how how you communicate
- 21:31Speaker 2: with people and how you respect people. I feel like, uh,
- 21:34Speaker 2: you know, that's one thing that Texas has in Texas
- 21:37Speaker 2: is and I feel like you could feel that when
- 21:39Speaker 2: you're around people from Texas.
- 21:40Speaker 1: Was it hard to leave Texas since you've been in Texas,
- 21:43Speaker 1: your whole life and then to go not even close
- 21:47Speaker 1: to Texas, drafted by the Buffalo Bills and you're moving
- 21:50Speaker 1: from Texas to New York was tough.
- 21:53Speaker 3: It was.
- 21:54Speaker 2: It was definitely like you said, I was in Texas
- 21:56Speaker 2: my whole life, growing up, obviously high school, college, I
- 22:01Speaker 2: was there forever, and you know, getting drafted, I didn't
- 22:03Speaker 2: know really where I was going, what I was, what
- 22:05Speaker 2: was gonna happen. Ended up coming to Buffalo, which, like
- 22:09Speaker 2: I said, has been has been amazing. I couldn't I
- 22:12Speaker 2: couldn't be more thankful for the people and uh just
- 22:15Speaker 2: how everybody treats me and how everybody's been since I've
- 22:18Speaker 2: been here.
- 22:19Speaker 3: So it's been it's been a blessing.
- 22:20Speaker 1: Yeah, how have you found yourself liking this area? Of
- 22:23Speaker 1: course you love the guys in the facility, but how
- 22:26Speaker 1: have you found yourself liking Buffalo in general?
- 22:28Speaker 3: It's awesome.
- 22:29Speaker 2: You know, I think I think Bill's mafia is everywhere,
- 22:32Speaker 2: and uh they're they're the best fans in the NFL.
- 22:35Speaker 2: Uh So if I'm out, you know, I see some
- 22:37Speaker 2: people they always telling me, you know, go Bills, or
- 22:39Speaker 2: they're wishing me luck on Sunday or you know, just
- 22:42Speaker 2: wanna catch up or take a picture or something like that.
- 22:44Speaker 2: So it's been, it's been great. You know, the the
- 22:47Speaker 2: people around here are just special.
- 22:49Speaker 3: You know.
- 22:49Speaker 2: It's it's not very often that you run into a
- 22:52Speaker 2: group of people so connected and uh, you know, so
- 22:56Speaker 2: so together and you know, all having one goal and
- 23:00Speaker 2: you know, just having having that like family vibe, family vibe.
- 23:05Speaker 3: So it's been. It's been fun.
- 23:06Speaker 1: How nice has it been to feel that support from
- 23:08Speaker 1: Bill's Mafia, Because yes, the support in the building matters
- 23:13Speaker 1: more than nothing than nothing else out there. But to
- 23:16Speaker 1: feel support from fans, I don't think they know how
- 23:19Speaker 1: much power they can have. And making people like you
- 23:22Speaker 1: feel good about what you've been able to do.
- 23:24Speaker 3: Yeah, no, for sure.
- 23:26Speaker 2: You know, I'm out here pretty much by myself, just
- 23:28Speaker 2: me and my girlfriend stay out here. So having Bill's
- 23:31Speaker 2: Mafia you know, all around us has been awesome. You know,
- 23:35Speaker 2: it feels like, like I said, like a family. Every
- 23:38Speaker 2: time I see somebody out you know, they're always telling
- 23:40Speaker 2: me go. Bills are always you know, mentioning you know
- 23:44Speaker 2: the games or you know, just everything about about the
- 23:47Speaker 2: Buffalo Bills. So it's been it's been nothing short of amazing.
- 23:51Speaker 2: You know, I've I've come to love Buffalo, and you know,
- 23:56Speaker 2: I didn't know how it was going to be all
- 23:57Speaker 2: the way from Texas, but it's been.
- 23:59Speaker 3: It's been fun.
- 24:00Speaker 1: Did the girlfriend come from Texas to Lofalo?
- 24:03Speaker 3: She is, you know, she's really good friends with a
- 24:06Speaker 3: lot of the other girls.
- 24:06Speaker 1: That's awesome.
- 24:07Speaker 3: So it's been it's been fun.
- 24:09Speaker 1: Okay, perfect. I wanted to ask you about school and Baylor.
- 24:14Speaker 1: You got a degree in health, kinesiology and Leisure studies.
- 24:20Speaker 1: Do you want to take that anywhere at some point
- 24:22Speaker 1: in your life?
- 24:23Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure, I want to take that. Yeah.
- 24:26Speaker 2: So I got my undergrad in health in kinesiology, and
- 24:28Speaker 2: then I finished my master's degree in sport management the
- 24:31Speaker 2: december before I got here, So I appreciate it.
- 24:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:36Speaker 2: So, you know, hopefully whenever I'm done playing, you know,
- 24:38Speaker 2: the goal is a long time.
- 24:40Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, a long time.
- 24:42Speaker 2: The goal is to either you know, open my own
- 24:44Speaker 2: gym or get into coaching. So, you know, I'm not
- 24:47Speaker 2: really sure which one, which one I'm gonna I'm gonna.
- 24:49Speaker 3: Go towards yet.
- 24:50Speaker 1: Okay, open your own gym. So you must be very
- 24:53Speaker 1: into fitness, your body. What's the craziest thing you do
- 24:58Speaker 1: to make sure your body's where it needs to be
- 25:02Speaker 1: every week.
- 25:03Speaker 2: Man, I would just say the the amount of time
- 25:06Speaker 2: I spend on my body. I feel like there's nothing,
- 25:08Speaker 2: you know, super crazy that I do. It's just the
- 25:11Speaker 2: hours of time. You know, you get beat up on
- 25:14Speaker 2: Sunday and uh, you got a few days to recover
- 25:17Speaker 2: and get get right again for the next week. So
- 25:20Speaker 2: I would say, you know cold tubs, Uh, you know
- 25:23Speaker 2: the cupping massages you sleep tapping into a little bit
- 25:28Speaker 2: of everything.
- 25:28Speaker 1: Yeah, So do you have a favorite, like a go
- 25:31Speaker 1: to like this? I need to do this because this
- 25:34Speaker 1: will get me the most right for Sunday?
- 25:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I think you know. The thing that I use
- 25:37Speaker 2: the most is probably the cold tub. I like to
- 25:40Speaker 2: do the cold plunge. So I go all the way in,
- 25:42Speaker 2: neck deep and I'll stay there for a few minutes.
- 25:45Speaker 1: Does it phase you at all anymore?
- 25:46Speaker 3: It does. Yeah.
- 25:47Speaker 2: It phases me every time, every time. So I'll come
- 25:49Speaker 2: in the mornings. You know, that's usually the first thing
- 25:51Speaker 2: that I do. I try to just jump in there
- 25:53Speaker 2: and get it out of the way.
- 25:54Speaker 1: Wake up.
- 25:55Speaker 3: Yeah it's rough, it's rough, but you.
- 25:58Speaker 2: Know, that's one thing that I gotta do to, you know,
- 26:00Speaker 2: try to get myself feeling back to normal. So yeah,
- 26:03Speaker 2: it's definitely tough in the mornings, but I gotta get it.
- 26:06Speaker 1: All right. Well, let's finish off with some rapid fire questions.
- 26:19Speaker 1: All right, troll, a couple of questions for you to
- 26:21Speaker 1: get to know you a little bit better. Do you
- 26:23Speaker 1: believe fall is elite?
- 26:26Speaker 3: I think fall is elite.
- 26:27Speaker 2: You know, you got football season, you got the fall foliage,
- 26:30Speaker 2: you got the weather still nice, it's cool, sweater weather.
- 26:33Speaker 1: So I would say fall is definitely so Texas guys.
- 26:36Speaker 1: And then the comfy, cozy vibes. Yeah, pumpkin spice.
- 26:41Speaker 2: Or no, I'm a no, I don't. I never really
- 26:45Speaker 2: had it. I never tried it. It's not it's not
- 26:47Speaker 2: my type.
- 26:48Speaker 1: So okay.
- 26:49Speaker 2: Favorite tattoo mm, I would say probably probably my Roman
- 26:57Speaker 2: numerals that remind me of my grandfather.
- 27:00Speaker 1: How many tattoos do you have?
- 27:02Speaker 3: Man? I got a lot. Yeah.
- 27:04Speaker 2: I got my chest done and I have my whole
- 27:06Speaker 2: left arm done. So however many that is what's next?
- 27:10Speaker 2: You know, I haven't gotten anything yet. I thought, yeah,
- 27:13Speaker 2: I thought I was gonna do my leg last year.
- 27:15Speaker 2: But I just never got around to it, so maybe
- 27:17Speaker 2: this year.
- 27:18Speaker 1: What's a meal that you never get tired of?
- 27:22Speaker 3: I would say my girlfriend's chicken enchiladas.
- 27:25Speaker 1: Okay, bring them in for everybody. What's one show you're
- 27:31Speaker 1: watching right now?
- 27:34Speaker 3: Not really watching the show.
- 27:36Speaker 2: I'm going through the Marvel series, so all the way
- 27:38Speaker 2: from you know, the First Captain America all the way
- 27:41Speaker 2: to the end.
- 27:41Speaker 1: What's been the favorite movie out of those series for you?
- 27:43Speaker 2: You know, I think I like The Iron Man's you know,
- 27:47Speaker 2: I'm watching Iron Man one right now.
- 27:48Speaker 3: I'm still like in the middle of it.
- 27:50Speaker 1: So what's your favorite app on your phone?
- 27:54Speaker 2: I'd probably say Instagram. I don't really post too much,
- 27:57Speaker 2: but I like I like seeing yeah for sure.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Are you a morning person or night owl?
- 28:02Speaker 3: Night owl for sure. Yeah.
- 28:04Speaker 2: I've kind of transitioned the last couple of years into,
- 28:07Speaker 2: you know, making myself a morning person.
- 28:09Speaker 3: But I don't know.
- 28:10Speaker 2: I guess it's just the childish part of me. I
- 28:12Speaker 2: like to stay up, yeah, exactly.
- 28:15Speaker 1: Comedy or horror comedy? Okay? Are you a scary movie
- 28:19Speaker 1: guy or like?
- 28:19Speaker 3: No? I like scary movies. No, I like scary movies.
- 28:22Speaker 2: It's just, you know, there's something about comedy that you
- 28:24Speaker 2: know brings out the childish side.
- 28:26Speaker 3: I like to laugh.
- 28:26Speaker 1: So you like the comedy. You like to laugh? But
- 28:29Speaker 1: are you making other people laugh too?
- 28:31Speaker 3: Nah?
- 28:31Speaker 2: Not really, not really, I stated myself, So I'm not.
- 28:34Speaker 2: I'm not really out there like that.
- 28:35Speaker 1: It's the calm and the chill vibes that you bring.
- 28:37Speaker 1: Right now, what's been your most favorite album lately?
- 28:41Speaker 2: Mm, it's gonna be a It's probably It's probably gonna
- 28:45Speaker 2: be h Drake's for All the Dogs. You know, Drake's
- 28:49Speaker 2: my favorite artist. So any time you drop something new,
- 28:52Speaker 2: I think it's gonna be my top.
- 28:53Speaker 1: And it is your top. Yeah, there's some people out
- 28:55Speaker 1: there that don't think.
- 28:56Speaker 3: It's at the time, they don't like it.
- 28:58Speaker 1: What do you want to say to those people?
- 28:59Speaker 2: I would say, he's just got to give it, give
- 29:00Speaker 2: it another chance, keep listening, you know, eventually it'll come around.
- 29:04Speaker 1: What number listen? Were you like? Okay, this is good.
- 29:08Speaker 3: I think I'm on my fifth right now. You know.
- 29:10Speaker 2: I put it on just in the background whenever I'm
- 29:12Speaker 2: cleaning the house or getting massage, things like that, and.
- 29:15Speaker 3: It's grown on me.
- 29:16Speaker 1: So, okay, what's your most what's your like? Number one?
- 29:19Speaker 1: Drake album in your mind, I.
- 29:23Speaker 3: Guess you gotta go take care, you know.
- 29:24Speaker 2: I feel like that's the you know, that's his his
- 29:27Speaker 2: coming out, his OG.
- 29:28Speaker 3: Yeah, so I would say I would say take care.
- 29:30Speaker 3: Probably love it well.
