- 0:22Welcome inside the treehouse on a Friday right before Christmas. I'm Daniel Malley,
- 0:29along with Trey Trnholm and Raj Sharma. And if any of you are looking
- 0:34for a last minute gift for me, I would appreciate some good fucking Internet
- 0:40so shod that in my stocking. I would greatly appreciate that. Because the
- 0:49Island Internet has not been ideal. That's my hope for for a Christmas miracle.
- 0:56Maybe Hallmark can make a movie out of that Internet. Yeah, I
- 1:03don't. I don't think that would work because I because that would mean,
- 1:07like the big city Internet comes to the island and and and takes over.
- 1:14You would have to be the struggling, the struggling you know, local internet
- 1:18provider and just looking for the love of a good woman in a flannel on
- 1:23a beach, at a at a farmer's market, trying to hawk like the
- 1:29professor from Gilligan's Island. My own my own coconut Internet service provider company,
- 1:34and uh and then big Internet comes. That would be a good name though,
- 1:38that'd be a good name for island Internet is coconut. That'd be a
- 1:42that's solid. It's not bad because honestly, the Internet between two halves of
- 1:48coconut is probably better than what I've been getting the last couple of days.
- 1:53Yeah, well, I just like the image of Dan, you know,
- 1:56and kind of like a flannel speedo and some oh and a half walking up.
- 2:01That is not a family friendly image. Trey Hallmark would not go over
- 2:07that. I'm not even I hope to god nobody would. I was thinking,
- 2:10for your only day's account, you're not going to get a You're not
- 2:15going to get Candice Cameron to co star on that one. Oh no,
- 2:20You're finally gonna You're finally gonna get a roller ROJH. Today is, of
- 2:25course, Friday, December twenty second, twenty twenty three, the Friday before
- 2:30Christmas. I have a very special heartwarming story or actually feet warming story to
- 2:37share with you two before we get into the stupid news of the day.
- 2:42But as it is Friday, right before Christmas, it reminds me of my
- 2:49days of celebrating Christmas by going to the galleria. This is what I would
- 2:57do typically with Gallery or North Park or whatever mall that was close by at
- 3:01the time, and I would have my Christmas list all the gifts that I
- 3:06needed to buy, for people, and I would do one shopping trip one
- 3:09day and one day only, and if the stores didn't have it, you
- 3:13didn't get it. But every single time I was able to accomplish my mission
- 3:17and get at least a gift for everybody on that list, and doing it
- 3:23in strategic military fashion. I would have to plan out which stores I was
- 3:30going to hit first. First of all, which mall am I going to
- 3:31hit? Where am I going to park? And then which stores am I
- 3:35hitting on which levels first and in what order so I can be in and
- 3:38out as most efficiently as possible, while also of course stopping at the anti
- 3:43christ Starbucks for their anti Christmas cup flavorings. So what does that mean?
- 3:49Like you have to download the programs like for a map program for the mall,
- 3:53and then the inventory list of every store and then process it and you
- 3:58just get a list, and that's the way you do. But but and
- 4:00what I would do is where where in the list you sit on Santa's lap.
- 4:05It's at the end tray. That's the reward, you said, right,
- 4:15I don't really have to ask for Santa for anything at that point.
- 4:17I just tell him to tell me I'm a good boy. That's all I
- 4:19need, and then I can get my tr the only person, he's the
- 4:27only person that has Santa. And it's a mall Santa too. You find
- 4:34a right Santa though, you know the Malsana's if there was some open work
- 4:43in a BD s M club, they're they're gained for eleven months out of
- 4:46the year. Hey man, what Santa does at night after after a day
- 4:49full of kids at the mall. I can't really say I blame him.
- 4:58They make really good money, do they. That's the that's Oh yeah.
- 5:01A buddy of mine, uh her dad uh is a is a Santa Claus
- 5:06and for this he'll he'll clear one forty for the Seriously, that's what he
- 5:13one. I'm not frozen, that's just me stunned. I just wow,
- 5:17Okay, Yeah, he clears about anywhere between when he first started out.
- 5:23I guess. I don't know if there's a hierarchy or whatever the corner is
- 5:26or whatever, like whatever you have to do. I don't think Santa's working
- 5:29a corner. Yeah, I don't know how it works. Is there a
- 5:32Santa's Union? I mean not in Texas. I'm sure there is in l
- 5:36A positive there's one in La. Now now we have another storyline for our
- 5:43Don Kringle movie. You know, he's gonna he's gonna he's gonna break the
- 5:51unions. Yeah, but yeah he clears about one uh anywhere between one forty
- 5:56and mall, Like is that the North mall or is that like the between
- 6:00malls between malls and like uh appearances and like, uh, you'd be surprised.
- 6:09I don't know anymore. Yeah, yeah, big big town, big
- 6:14town paying big bucks these days. That's you just age yourself because I don't
- 6:17even think it's there anymore. Like I don't even think the building is Like
- 6:21I don't know if the building. You just have gun shows there. Santa
- 6:25still my spot still runs for it. Yeah, but like appearances and like
- 6:30like like showing up to like kids like Christmas parties and corporate parties and all
- 6:38that stuff. Like he makes like that's what he does and he's done for
- 6:41the year. God, I bet, I bet there is a gun show
- 6:45that has a Santa there. I bet that you're talking about a Santa that
- 6:47rakes it in Yeah. Oh yeah, And that's that's not even a center
- 6:53you can mug at the end of the night, because you know, he's
- 6:57gotten stuff in that bag. Gun show Santa. I like those guys.
- 7:11He don't talk good, but he makes a country, making your loopholes bright
- 7:20got a set of truck nuts on the sleigh, wouldn't it be eight sets
- 7:31that glows that are red already? He just calls miss Clauses old lady.
- 7:48He's the only Santa that's a one percenter. Al Right, Before we get
- 7:56too far down into the u into the drenches of Christmas, let me share
- 8:01a quick story for you to bring us out of it, something uplifting that
- 8:05I wanted to share with you guys briefly. And that is so the day
- 8:11after we did our Christmas road show at Shaker Tins, Tara and I got
- 8:13in a rental van because we had to take some more of our personal things
- 8:16from Texas to Florida to be shipped here to the island, and in doing
- 8:24so, we had acquired at our Airbnb and at our house where we stayed
- 8:28a bunch of snacks and things that we weren't going to finish, right,
- 8:33So we decided on our way out of Dallas, you know, heading east,
- 8:39that we would find a homeless person and say, here you go,
- 8:43here's some stuff. If you're hungry, please, you know, either eat
- 8:46it all yourself, share it with your friends, whatever. But here you
- 8:48go. And on our way out, we're thinking, okay, well where
- 8:52should we stop? And I knew we were getting on I thirty and heading
- 8:56east, and I said, you know what we can do, Let's just
- 8:58stop at Exposition, you know, down there at the dart station across from
- 9:03the Cotton Bowl. Pretty much guaranteed to find some homeless people there. So
- 9:07that was what we did. Make the exit. We're on Perry Avenue,
- 9:13I believe it is, and I'd say, almost immediately see this homeless lady
- 9:20sitting in front of I don't know if it was a bar or a barber
- 9:24shop. Obviously it wasn't open, but she's just sitting there, and she's
- 9:26sitting in the sun. And I realized, now that was very strategic because
- 9:31it was a cold morning on Saturday or Sunday, December tenth, but it
- 9:35wasn't so bad in the sun. And the reason why that was important is
- 9:39because I got out of the van from around the corner, brought over that
- 9:41sack of food and snacks and things to give her, and as I turned
- 9:48the corner, I noticed that her legs are sticking out into the sun,
- 9:52and she's not wearing any shoes, and she has no socks, and that's
- 9:56why her feet were in the sun, because they were frozen. And I
- 10:01immediately felt silly for handing her a bag of like special K protein cereal bars
- 10:09and cheerios and cheetos and things that we stole from our airbnb. And she
- 10:16was grateful. She was so happy for it. She stood up, she
- 10:20came over and she's like, oh my god, thank you so much.
- 10:20Because I didn't want spooker. I don't want to scare her, obviously,
- 10:24and she said, thank you so much, and so here Merry Christmas,
- 10:26and I hope his help and go back to the van. And every step
- 10:31back to the van, I'm thinking about her cold bear feet, and I
- 10:35realized in my suitcase, I've got four pairs of socks. They're not the
- 10:41last pair of socks I have in the world, but I in that moment
- 10:45realize she needs these obviously much more than I do, especially because I'm going
- 10:48back to the Caribbean and feel like a real a hole with all these socks
- 10:52open. I'm a suitcase. Grab a pair of big long gray socks,
- 10:56and I walked those back over to her and I said I forgot one,
- 11:00and they said, here you go. I'm not telling that story to be
- 11:03like, oh, look what I did. I'm saying it because if an
- 11:07opportunity for you arise is to do something similar. This is something that when
- 11:13I told Tara, when she asked what I was doing going back, I
- 11:15came back and said she needed socks, and she's like, okay, yeah,
- 11:18because Tara has volunteer doing a homeless count program before in previous years,
- 11:24where they would go around and try to do sort of like a homeless census,
- 11:28and it was extremely common for the people in those situations to not have
- 11:33any damn socks, and something most of us don't think about. So that's
- 11:35why I wanted to share the story. If you find yourself in a position
- 11:39to do it, food is obviously great. Jackets are great, coats,
- 11:41hats, mitten's, gloves, all that stuff. But if you find yourself
- 11:46at Walmart or something or Dollar General like RAJ, if you're buying a turkey
- 11:48again and they've got a big sack of socks or something, try that a
- 11:54big thing of socks, warm socks to take someplace and we all know where
- 11:58our nearest homeless in camp it is. It's pretty common these days we know
- 12:01where the nearest ones are, or we know the people that hang out on
- 12:05the street corner of panhandling while not being shoot off by you know, Pimpy
- 12:09Santa. So that's just something I wanted to to share with you guys,
- 12:13because it was it was something that happened to us. It was very important,
- 12:16it was very eye opening to me, and I hope by sharing it
- 12:18it can be eye opening to somebody else, and maybe someone else who needs
- 12:22a pair of socks will get some who had given who had given you the
- 12:26socks. I'm assuming it was a Christmas gift and you just, you know,
- 12:31like you did with my bottle of You catch me regifting one gift of
- 12:35yours, and you assume everything I give away is a gift that's that someone
- 12:39has given me. You know, why why wouldn't you give the whiskey to
- 12:41the homeless because I had already gifted it to Jerry. Well, he's kind
- 12:46of homeless. I mean it's kind of close. He works for nowhere he
- 12:50works, he's almost home, I know. Yeah, So that was the
- 12:56number one years ago. I saw the thing when I was when I was
- 13:00in LA that the number one thing that's requested at homeless shelter is socks.
- 13:07And so I make these, and I again not I don't tell people,
- 13:11but I make these little go bags, and so you're right. I do
- 13:13go to the nine sense store, not just for twenty pounds turkeys every year,
- 13:18but I do. They sell socks and there I think they're a dollar
- 13:22ninety nine for three pairs of socks. And then I get the brown like
- 13:26remember the old lunch bags. It's a little brown paper bag. And I
- 13:31do like the small toothpaste and a toothbrush and socks and soap, and I
- 13:37do a bottle of water. Sometimes I'll tape two if the bag is strong
- 13:41enough, and then I do like two bucks and quarters because I don't know
- 13:46if you know this, but drug dealers don't take quarters, and they can
- 13:50also use that to get like a sandwich like here, you know, it
- 13:52was like you know, it's a dollar menu, but it's nothing. It's
- 13:54a dollar. It's a dollar plus tax or whatever. So I always do
- 13:58that, and they just have like eight quarters in the bank and I keep
- 14:01them in my car and if I see somebody like nothing, nothing, not
- 14:05the usual guys that I see out that I know getting the Mercedes. I'm
- 14:11sure. And you know, because not everyone else has you know, the
- 14:15wherewithal to think about, you know, giving someone a homeless starter kit.
- 14:24Well, I mean, if you find yourself newly homeless, you're like,
- 14:26where do we get water from? Da? There's no place to get water
- 14:31from? Uh? And and soap and toothpaste and a toothbrush and a comb
- 14:37stuff like that. So I just put a little thing and I keep them
- 14:39in my car, and so I'll just give them to the folk that are
- 14:43out there, especially at this time. And I also do the like the
- 14:48like sweaters and stuff from my previous years. If I if I keep them
- 14:50in a suitcase and I'll keep them in a car and if I see somebody
- 14:54that needs one. It was one a couple of months ago. It was
- 14:56just hot and I had extra water, so I was like, here man,
- 15:01and he wasn't. You can always tell he wasn't begging for anything.
- 15:03He wasn't didn't hold up a sign whatever. He was just kind of on
- 15:05the side of the road doing his own That was probably just a guy out
- 15:07for a run who didn't plan well well, but he looked like shit.
- 15:13Uh, he looked he looked very fit. Yeah, he looked very very
- 15:24uh very fit for being uh out for a run. He didn't need to
- 15:28be running anywhere. He was already very very skinny. And I was like,
- 15:31there's just a couple of extra bottles of water. But yeah, that's
- 15:33a I love that you did that, man, that's very cool. Like
- 15:37I I don't, I don't. It's hard to tell people that, like,
- 15:39let me tell you the story. Maybe it'll help somebody else. But
- 15:43it does and people will listen and hopefully it's the paying it forward thing that
- 15:46that comes. Do you do anything like that? He just throws. He
- 15:50just carry around carre around food for dogs and cats. That's good and you
- 15:58give that to the homeless people. It is. I think you're in the

- 18:18Including smexcellent holiday shows this weekend and then next week. All sorts of good
- 18:22stuff happening at the Dallas Comedy Club Friday before before Christmas. I'm not doing
- 18:32the the crazy Christmas list crossing off of stuff. I've finally reached the point
- 18:37in my life where i don't have to worry about buying things for anybody for
- 18:40Christmas because I did the smart thing and I moved twenty two hundred miles away
- 18:42where I'm not required to do such things anymore. That's nice. It doesn't
- 18:49But like when you're in person, like you know, when you're like here
- 18:52visiting like for like a road show, you could have had a gift for
- 18:56your friends then, you know, like we did. I didn't have time.
- 19:04Hm. I'm just saying, like, you know, we had he
- 19:07had bought us socks. Yeah, yeah, apparently because it was I can't
- 19:12remember Trey, whose idea was it that we all should say, like,
- 19:18let's set a limit of twenty five dollars and that's as far as we go,
- 19:22and then we just can buy something. I can't remember, Trey,
- 19:26if you remember whose idea it was. I think it was Dan's. Yeah,
- 19:30I think I think it was your. I think it was your idea.
- 19:32Dan says, some time familiar to me at all? Whatsoever? I
- 19:33deny all of it. Uh, well, you know that's the thing about
- 19:37you can't run from tape. So we can just play the episode back where
- 19:41you decide that's what we're gonna do. We don't have those freak fire tragedy.
- 19:47We we have the episodes. It was the white It was a white
- 19:48elephant, I think because I did know what a white elephant gift was.
- 19:52And then you explained the whole thing, and then you set a price limit,
- 19:56and then Trey and I actually went out and bought stuff, and so
- 20:00you're also saying you didn't have time right to get anything for us. You
- 20:06could have just given us the twenty five dollars I didn't have. I didn't
- 20:10have enough cash with Venmo cash app that it was congested by everyone buying merch
- 20:18at the event. Oh so we could have gotten a T shirt, you
- 20:23know, because those were twenty five dollars. So you could have just given
- 20:26us each our own T shirts. Pray you have, you have? You
- 20:30have two? Right, Yeah, one's an Xcel, one's a double Excel.
- 20:33Nobody's taking that perfect perfect. Those shirts run small. See this is
- 20:38when this is this is the part that I love when when Dan becomes Indian
- 20:41without knowing he's Indian. That's what that's what happens. Is like I I
- 20:53got so busy, you know I did. I got really busy and out
- 20:56and out of nowhere. Birthday showed up to distract us all. Today is
- 21:04Friday, December twenty second, twenty twenty. I do love you guys.
- 21:12I'm just really terrible at giving gifts now birthdays today because today is you're not
- 21:18you're good at giving gifts to other people. It just y yes, yeah,
- 21:23yeah, you managed to give everybody else their gifts. All right,
- 21:26well, I tell you what it's. It's kind of a good news bad
- 21:27news situation. The bad news is you guys don't have a gift. The
- 21:30good news is I now have a resolution for next year. Ah good,
- 21:36and you, in your forgetfulness, will keep that intact. I can't control
- 21:41what I what iat what my brain decides to remember or forget. Look more
- 21:47birthdays. As I mentioned before, today is Friday, December twenty second,
- 21:52twenty twenty three birthdays today. Pop singer, I guess she's still that Meghan
- 22:00Trainer. She is twenty nine that actually, I guess now that she's it's
- 22:04this day would probably make her thirty, So she's the Big three O today.
- 22:10Rapper the baby is definitely not a baby. He's thirty two today.
- 22:18Now I have to skip over all the all the TikTok and Instagram stars,
- 22:22so I hate that they're in here. TV actor Joshua Bassett is twenty two.
- 22:30TV actress Genevieve Hanelius is twenty four. Movie actor Bryce Geiser is eighteen,
- 22:37but the photo they have for him makes him look he's like six.
- 22:41Here's someone that we all know, actor director producer Ray Fines. He is
- 22:47sixty one today. Wow, he was. He graduated to the level of
- 22:51m in the Daniel Craig Bond movies after Dame Judy dench okay, gotcha and
- 23:00they announced who's going to be the next Bond. They have not really really
- 23:03pushing for inter Selvo. I think he's pretty much come out and been like,
- 23:07no, I'm good. But they didn't feel like they all say that
- 23:10until until they accepted. Yeah. But you know, I think the other
- 23:12problem with him is by the time they started production, he's too old,
- 23:18because I mean, I think they want someone who's got a ten year a
- 23:22ten year span, and I think Sean Sean Connery was born old. Uh
- 23:27and he still got the gig. So well, you say, but you
- 23:32think about it, they actually were sixty seems to be the threshold that they
- 23:36walk away from Bond stars because that's about how old Connory was, and then
- 23:41Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton. I think they just got rid of him.
- 23:45Yeah, whatever happened to him, Like his Bond career ended. His career,
- 23:49Bonds completely over. He was in the Uh, he was in Hot
- 23:55Fuzz with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. After after they did a Sean of
- 24:00the Dead, they did the Hot Fuzz movie. That was awesome. He
- 24:03was in that. Yeah, was he in Crampus? Do you remember him
- 24:06in that? Do you remember? You say? That's awesome? You were
- 24:08you were James Bond, You're Hot Fuzz. Yeah. Man, there are
- 24:15some things you're just gonna have to contend with. I if you kind of
- 24:19peek in your acting career or just your career in general, like some people
- 24:23would say, oh, you go from the Russ Martin Show to a podcast.
- 24:26Yeah, but it's it's the next evolution, it's the next thing.
- 24:30You started out as James Bond, and you know he's still a working actor.
- 24:33He was in other stuff after it. I can't name any of not
- 24:37uff my head, but that. I mean, look, that man's been
- 24:40in a movie. He's been in a number of movies, and none of
- 24:41us have That's true, at least not on that level. I mean,
- 24:45Roger and I have done a couple of things for friends, but I don't
- 24:48know if I want ad many of those. Yeah. The story that I
- 24:52will always remember from you know, the days of the of the Russ Martin
- 24:56Show, or you know the fact that Adam West after he's Batman and successful,
- 25:00and then you know, two years later he's getting fired out of a
- 25:03cannon because that's the only work he can get to Iowa State Fair or something
- 25:06because it was a paying gig. Look, I don't I don't fault anybody,
- 25:10no matter what your job was before, and how how illustrious it might
- 25:12have been or how well it might have paid. At a certain point,
- 25:15you got to eat, you want to provide for your family, or at
- 25:18the very least you're just bored and want to do something, and you want
- 25:22to do something that you know. And Timothy Dalton, yeah, maybe he
- 25:26had a couple of down years or whatever, but he's still. Catherine Heigel
- 25:33from Grey's Anatomy, when she got fired from the show because she's so difficult
- 25:37to work with, nobody wanted to work with her. If you will go
- 25:41back, she did a Niqual commercial because that's the only work that she could
- 25:45get for the longest time. And I didn't falter for it. I mean,
- 25:47was it was it a step down from from the TV gig, sure,
- 25:51But I like the fact that I liked that she she had to you
- 25:55know, it was actually really smart of her to do that because it showed
- 25:59you milody, which is one of the things that was one of the complaints
- 26:03about her. Yeah, but I don't think people when when you when you
- 26:07get to that level of where people are complaining about you, they don't see
- 26:10humility and that they go, oh, that's what that bitch gets, Like,
- 26:12that's that's what they see. Because I remember, I remember watching it.
- 26:15I was like, is that catch in a nic Cole commercial? Like
- 26:19you don't you don't see that? Like for the longest time, that was
- 26:22a big taboo. For the longest time, you didn't see Hollywood actors in
- 26:26tell they would do them overseas, do the voiceover stuff left and right.
- 26:30Yeah, yeah, but the commercials like you know, just selling you know,
- 26:36pitching chips or beer or whatever. Like they wouldn't do that uh here
- 26:38locally because it would be like a little stigma to their the crew. But
- 26:42overseas, like Schwartzenaker has been doing commercial Schortznakers st alone, like all those
- 26:47guys have been doing commercials in Japan for decades. Uh and then they they
- 26:52there was a TV show on Fox whatever that leaked all these international like goofy
- 26:55international commercials and They're like, everybody's like, what they won't do them here,
- 26:59and so then that's when that you know, now you see celebrities and
- 27:02commercials here now, so that's kind of interesting. But yeah, there was
- 27:06there was also a stigma if you were if you were considered a film actor.
- 27:10There was a stigma for the longest time about doing any TV. Oh
- 27:14yeah, for sure, for sure, yeah, yeah, yeah. And
- 27:17now everybody wants to do a Netflix run or a Hulu run. So yeah,
- 27:22I mean it's uh yeah, I mean it pays out the ass of
- 27:23course they do. Yes. But again, going full circle, I would
- 27:27love to see Indris Elbow get it because that would be very cool to shake
- 27:32things up in the world of the Bond. I see what you did there?
- 27:36See you see? I learned it from the best Whizzy I'll kill him
- 27:48dead. The visit us online at Treehouse on Air. Let's talk to Daniel
- 28:04Cook from Cook DFW Roofing and Restoration for your free roof inspection. Give them
- 28:08a call eight three to three Cook d FW today. Daniel, I want
- 28:12to ask you, did you hear about the Florida man that shot at the
- 28:17Christmas parade? I have not, actually, Dan that's that's very interesting.
- 28:22It's one of those things where you think, is it really so bad that
- 28:26people are having a good time outside your house that you feel the need to
- 28:29grab the gun, run outside and fire several rounds in their general directions,
- 28:33Like can't you just put on some noise canceling headphones and watch die Hard or
- 28:37something. Well, first of all, when you said a Florida man,
- 28:40I already knew it was gonna be bad. Just like when you were in
- 28:45the airport recently. He almost saw your altercation with that other Florida guy.
- 28:48Yeah, take a shirt off in the middle of the airport. That already
- 28:51is You know, every time you say a story from Florida, it automatically
- 28:55goes sideway. You know there's something really bad that's about to happen. And
- 28:57I don't know if it's the water, maybe they have something weird in their
- 29:03in their in their environmentals. I don't know. But every time you hear
- 29:07the word Florida and story, you know it's fixing to be something really stupid.
- 29:11But yeah, I hope they I hope they take care of this guy.
- 29:14He actually has something mentally wrong with him obviously, so he does not
- 29:18need to be in the general public, and especially for something like that,
- 29:22for people just celebrating Christmas. My goodness, what a story. Yeah,
- 29:26it also makes me think that maybe if he got a soundproof roof that maybe
- 29:30that would have helped. I'm not sure if you make those or if they
- 29:33make those at all, but I always say anything is possible with enough time
- 29:37and money. Absolutely. You know, most of those roofs over there in
- 29:41Florida, I mean a lot of the areas are tile roofs, and they
- 29:44they echo. Actually maybe so maybe that's what was happening. Maybe he had
- 29:47so many noises in his head going off it set back some bad, bad
- 29:52problems from childhood. Who knows, but wow, what here is Get yourself
- 29:57a good roof, absolutely have something solid. Get make your home, make
- 30:03your home soundproof? How about that even better? So give Daniel Cook from
- 30:07COOKDFW Roofing and Restoration and call see how we can make your roof and your
- 30:11life better than the guy in Florida for sure eight three to three cook DFW

- 30:57older we get the nicer. That sounds like hearing you describe that sounds like,
- 31:02oh, that sounds really really good. Yeah, you still get the
- 31:06Christmas tree up, so it's got a soft glow in the house of the
- 31:08lights in the fireplace, and you just stay warm. It's cold here.
- 31:12I don't I don't like the cold. I'm gonna do that. Well,
- 31:15if you ever change your mind on on living in a cold place, you
- 31:18know I know a good spot. Just I'm just saying I do too.
- 31:22We're I would. I would definitely relocate to Saint John. That's a beautiful
- 31:29island. And trust me, there are plenty of plumbing projects that would need

- 31:37guys are staying busy in North Texas helping people. So if you need help
- 31:41with your plumbing, wants, needs, whatever it is, give Jacqueline and
- 31:45her team at Brooks Plumbing a call two one four, three six eight thirty
- 31:48eight thirty eight or Brooks Plumbing Texas dot com. You're in the Treehouse,
- 32:00visit us online at Treehouseonair dot com. Sorry, I'm back, kind of
- 32:13fix the television. Don't like giving a free plugs to Tradition Network now that

- 32:30do, you need to give Jacqueline and our friends at Brooks Plumbing a call
- 32:34for any and all of your plumbing wants and needs. Two one four three
- 32:37six eight thirty eight thirty eight. That's two one four three six eight thirty
- 32:39eight thirty eight. In the website Brooks Plumbing, Texas a dot com,
- 32:47there are a number of Christmas traditions that people have. Some people love them,
- 32:52some people hate them, and a website decided to ask everyone to rate
- 33:00there. There are Christmas traditions on how much they love, hate, or
- 33:05just kind of about And I'm always fascinated by these things because one, I
- 33:10think, I think people like to compare, even though I'm a firm believer
- 33:15that comparison is the thief of joy. Sometimes it's okay because it's interesting to
- 33:21see how different people do things, even if it's like at a similar time,
- 33:27like like Rajah. I don't know, like in the Indian community for
- 33:30for you know, like a for for an Indian holiday or maybe a Hindu
- 33:34holiday. You know, Uh, do Indian families compare like decorations or meals
- 33:39compared to other people. I think it's a natural human thing, the way
- 33:43you know, us white Christian folk in America do for Christmas. Oh yeah,
- 33:47yeah, I mean it's everything's a comparison, like what you're everything?
- 33:52So like whose kids doing what? Whose kids a doctor whose kids is not
- 33:55who's who went to school here? Who went to school there? What?
- 34:00You know, what food did they serve at this holiday thing? What food
- 34:01did they serve at the wedding? Was there alcohol? What kind of alcohol?
- 34:05How expensive was I mean, it's all of it. So there's a
- 34:07never ending uh comparisons to everybody else, like, well, you know,
- 34:12so and so had a you know, the Volley party, which are basically
- 34:15our Christmas uh, and you know they had this was catered by these people
- 34:17and they had you know, you know, four bars and it was an
- 34:21open bar and it was all top shelf. And then you know, we
- 34:23went to this one in that place just had beer and wine and I'm like,
- 34:27what do you guys? You didn't you're not bringing anything, Like what
- 34:30are you complaining about? But yeah, I know it is if you want
- 34:34to win your holiday party, whether it's like you said to Vali or Christmas
- 34:38or Easter, whatever it is, I feel like we can make this happen.
- 34:42What you need to do is you need to get yourself on the list
- 34:45for Tray Trenholm's tender. Lloyd. Yeah, I'm not going to take that
- 34:50to the Hindu parties. That's a bad. That's a bad. That's a
- 34:53that's a that's a that's a different way to win the holidays. That's a
- 34:58way to get your family disowned by a bunch of Hindus. It's bringing that
- 35:01juicy beef tenderloin to a bunch of Indus. I just love that you referred
- 35:07to Trey as juicy. I mean, that's a stripper name is beef tenderloin.
- 35:15That's right there, Lord, beef tenderline. Lord. Yeah, you
- 35:20got to make sure you get the the proper title. So anyway, Yeah,
- 35:23thousands of people weighed in on the website that suggested various Christmas traditions.
- 35:30So there's all these Christmas traditions and thousands of people weighed in on whether or
- 35:35not they love them, they're sort of about them, or if they actually
- 35:39secretly hate them. And I've got the results making Christmas cards. Just over
- 35:46ten percent of people say they not only send out Christmas cards, but they
- 35:51also make them. Wow, there are very few people that I still know
- 35:59that do Christmas cards. There are a handful. It's usually younger families because
- 36:04they just had a kid, second kid. I don't know, they had
- 36:07a kid that learned how to graduate sixth grade or something, and they feel
- 36:10they need to tell everybody about it, so they do the Christmas card,
- 36:13make a card for everybody, and see about sending them out to everybody else
- 36:21to show them what they've what they've accomplished. Yeah, because the you know,
- 36:23bumper stickers that my kid's an honor student at some elementary school aren't enough.
- 36:28No, no, no, they need to send the same thing,
- 36:30but with like a Santa hat on it. Gotcha? Okay, So the
- 36:35people that do that, okay, I've never met it. I've never met
- 36:38that many sociopaths, so I don't know how that works. You make a
- 36:44Christmas card. Fourteen percent of people get their Christmas shopping done by Black Friday.
- 36:51To me, that's just no fun. That takes the excitement out of
- 36:53it. But if maybe someone's idea of excitement is getting it all done before
- 36:58Black Friday and feeling like they can lord it over everybody else, then I
- 37:00guess that's fine. Whatever float your both. Well, yeah, that's easy
- 37:02for you to say. You don't even do any Christmas shopping. You just
- 37:06wait to see what you get and then you repurpose it and regift it.
- 37:08Yeah, and then you don't buy anybody anything else anyway. Yeah, all
- 37:12I'm hearing is you sound jealous. Trade. Also, fourteen percent of people
- 37:17are really into doing Christmas family photos. I guarantee if you're the one person
- 37:22that's into doing the Christmas family photo, you're the only person in your family
- 37:25who's into it. Everyone else does not want to be there. They don't
- 37:29want to do it. And I guarantee you the kids are thinking we could
- 37:31photoshop this. Oh I'd love to do one of those. I've never got
- 37:35to do one that seems like finally get the like the dogs and like the
- 37:40girl and the in the just what you should do, raj and you get
- 37:45your dogs and you you know, you go to Olind Mills, get the
- 37:49wood paneling in the background, a little antler, you know. No,
- 37:53it's just like, you know, wearing the matching shirts and the dogs are
- 37:58there. And I've never been I've never got to do one of those.
- 38:01If you guys, I'm sure have I never got to do one of those.
- 38:04Yeah. Yeah, See, don't take for granted what you what you
- 38:07uh, what you were able to? Uh? What's stopped? I'm forty
- 38:14eight and I'm like, it sounds like a bucket list thing you need to
- 38:19I would like to do. I mean, I'm not gonna be on my
- 38:21deathbed, like where's the flannel? I don't I don't really care about that.
- 38:27But I'm like, I didn't get to do that kind of stuff,
- 38:29Like I never I've never carved a pumpkin. I've never done. Sounds to
- 38:34me like you have a whole series of photos that you need to be shooting.
- 38:37Yeah, that'd be weird, but look at me carving the pumpkin at
- 38:43forty eight. But no, I've never got You guys got to do all
- 38:45my white friends got to do all that stuff. Like, hey, there's
- 38:49no reason why you can't catch up ra Just because just because it's sort of
- 38:52like a white thing to do before you're thirty, doesn't mean that you can't
- 38:54do these things before you're fifty. That's true. I've never been on a
- 38:59go cart. See look at your white faces. Look at look at this
- 39:02sheer disappointment. You've never you never went to Malibu? No, wow,
- 39:08No, you never went to that sketchy place off of seventy five between Bartlesville
- 39:13and Tulsa. Chop tall I don't know what. I don't know which one
- 39:21that is. But no, I never got to do the go karts.
- 39:23I never yeah that my mom was. I told you my mom was a
- 39:28nurse, So anything like motorized, my mom like you're going to die and
- 39:31I'm like, okay, well, I guess we're not doing it. BECA,
- 39:34we're not doing tho. I wasn't entirely wrong, and she did work
- 39:37in an emergency room, so she had experience with it. Twenty one percent
- 39:39of people love putting up their Christmas stuff before Thanksgiving. Twenty five percent of
- 39:45people love baking cookies. It's more of these Christmas traditions that people just either
- 39:51love or so so or they secretly hate. Twenty five percent of people are
- 39:55secretly obsessed with the ugly Christmas sweaters. I don't know how you can be
- 40:00secretly obsessed with that, because if you're obsessed with Christmas sweaters, everybody knows
- 40:05it. Also, twenty seven percent of people love to entertain over the holidays
- 40:10and host parties. Twenty nine percent of people love Christmas decorations. I'm one
- 40:16of those. I love Christmas decorations. I don't mind admitting it. People
- 40:21love Christmas decorations, or your wife loves decorations and they're therefore you do.
- 40:25I love decorations. She also loves decorations, so it actually works out well
- 40:31some ironically, some of my happiest memories are when I was little and Christmas
- 40:37because my family went all out for Christmas with the decorations and the gifts and
- 40:39the food and everything. I say ironically because my parents hated each other,
- 40:44but they did really good job of hiding it, which is part of the
- 40:46reason why I love Christmas is my parents would have hide their hate for one
- 40:50another. That's That's a Christmas miracle. It really is. Also, forty
- 41:02people think Christmas music is great. I used to hate it. I've come
- 41:07back around on it. I now enjoy it. No, I also for
- 41:10a few years there, I was in a very dark place and would listen
- 41:14to Christmas music in the world. It was something that would give me joy
- 41:17on the ride home. What Christmas Carol like, the rocking around the Christmas
- 41:24tree? Whatever, No, you can't, I'd be fine. I'd be
- 41:31fine with Christmas music if they would limit it to two weeks before Christmas.
- 41:37I'd be fine if they limited it to one song once that night and that
- 41:39was it. That shit is terrible, Like, but I the only thing
- 41:45I can think of is like, man, can you imagine being the guy
- 41:47who's like, man, I've done my instant the instant instruments like bells,
- 41:52like that guy like can't wait for Christmas to come around because that's the only
- 41:58time he's in session. That's his end season, Like I can't what's the
- 42:04radio station here one of two to one that's doing for years. They would
- 42:07not listen to me when I suggested to them when they would switch to Christmas.
- 42:10I said, you're missing an opportunity here because they call it Star one
- 42:14o two point one. I said you need to change it to north Star
- 42:16one oh two point one. They would never do it. No, And
- 42:20I'm so grateful for that suggestion. Dan, you should have just been like,
- 42:23hey, can we just do like an hour on Christmas Day? And
- 42:27then that be it? Just play the hits or really screw with them and
- 42:30be like, hey, you really want to you know, see if people
- 42:32are paying attention, how about after Mariah Carey you bring back the edge?
- 42:42You don't do that. I would listen to that. Well, if you
- 42:46had back then, then you wouldn't have Christmas music on one o two point
- 42:50one, it'd still be the edge. But no one listened. I know,
- 42:52I just can't. Yeah, so I can't with it. Christmas music
- 42:55and Christian rock are the same in the same boat, and I hope it
- 43:00floods and saints to the bottom of the Eshan. Well, that's the irony,
- 43:04raj is because of the genre of music. That's not going to happen,
- 43:07because those are the two genres of music that made it onto the arc.
- 43:15Noah saved those two genres, those are the two he saved. That's
- 43:22terrible. Yeah, but I mean, if you're a Christmas I can't believe.
- 43:24I can't believe I've learned something new about you today. Dan, You're
- 43:29right, Well that keep in mind. I think you didn't hear the part
- 43:30where I said at the time, I was in a very dark place,
- 43:34and listening to Christmas music year round at that time in that dark place actually
- 43:38helped me feel better at that time. I'm now at a better place,
- 43:44and so I listened to Christmas music just you know, around now, around
- 43:47Christmas music time, not you know July. Oh you flash back, do
- 43:52you flash back when you were like a board op at KBIL and you had
- 43:54to do Christmases and everything else. That was the reason why it was all
- 43:59Thechristmas music I played at kV IL from two thousand to two thousand and two.
- 44:02That I was dead set against Christmas music for about eighteen nineteen years.
- 44:08What do you think of bordop fields? That works for the freak. I'm
- 44:16going to take the fifth on that one. You did? He gave Jerry
- 44:20a fifth on that one. And all they do is watch Hallmark movies because
- 44:25they can't watch sports anymore. You know what, You just put on a
- 44:35scarf and warm up your throat and dude, you do the you do the
- 44:39thing, or you listen to Christmas music you're around like I did, got
- 44:49out to the dark place that you're in. And finally, fifty four percent
- 44:55of people still say they absolutely love doing Secret Santa. Interesting and and okay,
- 45:05hold on, I'm gonna sounds stupid, but secrets like you you buy
- 45:09a gift for someone, but you don't tell them who you are. That
- 45:12works. Yeah, Sometimes it might be one gift, it might be a
- 45:15series of gifts. Usually it's very popular in offices. That's what I was
- 45:17gonna say, is that is this a family thing or an office I remember
- 45:21that at the office. It can be both, but I think I think
- 45:23it's mostly popular in offices. It's a it's a good way for large groups
- 45:28to exchange gifts, but you don't break the bank. So you just draw
- 45:31a name and you know it. Kind of like you know a white Elephant
- 45:36Christmas, where you go, okay, there's a twenty five dollars limit or
- 45:38whatever, and then you just don't bring anything, and then somebody brings you
- 45:44stuff. Secret Dan Yeah, secret da Danta clause brings you nothing. It's
- 46:00not my fault. You were bad. Oh sounds like my parents. Now
- 46:09I learned from the best Danta claws. Sounds like something you can do on
- 46:20your only dance though. Yeah, we've got a stake out of it.
- 46:30You will get it on purpose. In the pic I almost drowned in my
- 46:37Steel Treehouse podcast, Cup, be sure to tune into the Treehouse on Monday
- 46:42for Christmas. Yes, we were doing a show for you. It'll be
- 46:45fun, it'll be festive. At least two of the three of us will
- 46:47be and uh and we hope you enjoy your time in the Treehouse, not
- 46:52only around the Christmas time. But all year round
