- 0:03Speaker 1: up.
- 0:05Speaker 1: Good next to you.
- 0:07Speaker 1: Kicking off your day in the best way, it's Sonya
- 0:10Speaker 1: and Joakim on the shock circuit.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Welcome to the show. Happy Wednesday. We're in the middle
- 0:15Speaker 2: of the week already. Very excited to tell you what
- 0:18Speaker 2: we have in store. Legally Blonde musical tickets coming your
- 0:21Speaker 2: way and also a gypsy dining experience worth $100 this
- 0:25Speaker 2: whole week. Stay tuned. Singapore's
- 0:27Speaker 1: number one
- 0:28Speaker 2: hit
- 0:28Speaker 1: music station.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Um, tell us what, what on earth happened, man? Like,
- 0:34Speaker 2: I mean, OK, catching COVID is not exactly uncommon
- 0:38Speaker 1: now. Yeah, so apparently I think this happened. It was
- 0:44Speaker 1: after the rehearsals for NDP. When I got back, I
- 0:47Speaker 1: was like, why am I feeling
- 0:48Speaker 1: so weak
- 0:49Speaker 2: and tired? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 0:50Speaker 1: And I knew it was not the post-show
- 0:53Speaker 2: tiredness. And I want to just declare it wasn't my fault, OK,
- 0:56Speaker 2: I didn't spread it to Joe because I was sick
- 0:58Speaker 2: last week.
- 1:00Speaker 2: And then suddenly you got sick, but it was a
- 1:02Speaker 2: few days apart already.
- 1:04Speaker 1: At this point we're just
- 1:04Speaker 1: taking turns,
- 1:05Speaker 2: yeah,
- 1:06Speaker 1: and if I'm not wrong, there is a bug going
- 1:08Speaker 1: around
- 1:09Speaker 2: Singapore. So, um, you know, when I, when I felt
- 1:11Speaker 2: sick last week, right, the doctor actually advised me to
- 1:15Speaker 2: test for influenza A and B as well. Yeah, because
- 1:17Speaker 2: apparently that has been a thing that's going around too.
- 1:20Speaker 2: So they have these.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Kids now that look exactly like the COVID kids. Yes,
- 1:23Speaker 2: but it tests for influenza A and B, A and
- 1:25Speaker 1: B and COVID as well
- 1:26Speaker 2: and COVID, yes.
- 1:27Speaker 1: So, Sunday morning took the ART test and true enough,
- 1:32Speaker 1: two lines. Yeah, and I was like, wow, I've not
- 1:35Speaker 1: seen you in 3
- 1:35Speaker 1: years. Yeah,
- 1:36Speaker 2: yeah, yeah. How many times have you caught it actually?
- 1:39Speaker 1: I think this will be my 5th or 4th.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Oh my God.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Really? OK, I think in total, I caught it probably twice. Yeah.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Good for you. No, no, but you know what, there
- 1:48Speaker 2: are many different strains, you see, that's the thing. So
- 1:51Speaker 2: it might present itself differently because the first time I
- 1:54Speaker 2: ever got it, which funny enough was during our sabbatical.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Did you catch it during sabbatical too? No, I came
- 2:00Speaker 2: you came back, yeah, so same here, same here.
- 2:02Speaker 2: And that was the one where I lost my sense
- 2:05Speaker 2: of smell and taste, yeah, for, for a week or so.
- 2:09Speaker 2: It was, it was really weird.
- 2:11Speaker 1: I was gonna say, so Sunday, Monday was when my
- 2:15Speaker 1: throat hurt the most. It felt like there were razor
- 2:18Speaker 1: blades in there. Oh
- 2:19Speaker 2: no, that's bad.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Thankfully, after seeing the doctor and some mets and lozenges,
- 2:23Speaker 1: felt a lot better on Tuesday. Had to host a
- 2:26Speaker 1: gig on Tuesday night, was negative. Thank goodness for that.
- 2:29Speaker 1: And I thought, hey, you know.
- 2:29Speaker 1: What, about time I came back to work. I don't
- 2:31Speaker 1: want to stay at home doing nothing. So yeah,
- 2:35Speaker 2: restless, right
- 2:35Speaker 1: after
- 2:35Speaker 2: a while,
- 2:37Speaker 1: then you would
- 2:37Speaker 1: think, oh, joking can stay and play games and all that. Yeah,
- 2:40Speaker 1: I can, but I, I'd rather
- 2:42Speaker 1: be here, right?
- 2:43Speaker 2: You know, the funny thing is like when I was
- 2:45Speaker 2: on MC, right, it was the, the weirdest thing. I
- 2:49Speaker 2: couldn't seem to fall asleep properly. Like I don't know why. I,
- 2:53Speaker 2: I think so I then I asked Chad GPT. I
- 2:55Speaker 2: was like, why am I having trouble.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Ask a doctor. I mean, it told me that like,
- 3:00Speaker 2: you know, actually it's pretty common when you're unwell, sometimes, yeah,
- 3:06Speaker 2: your body is just a lot going on, so you
- 3:07Speaker 2: cannot
- 3:07Speaker 2: fall asleep.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Oh, for me, I perspire a lot when I'm
- 3:10Speaker 2: unwell. Maybe it's like a fever or maybe
- 3:12Speaker 1: because of the medication as well. So please your vitamin C,
- 3:16Speaker 2: please stay healthy. I know, I understand from the students
- 3:18Speaker 2: that came into the studio yesterday. I'll tell you more
- 3:20Speaker 2: in a while because I owe them a shout out
- 3:22Speaker 2: just before 7 a.m. I promised them for that.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Um, I think oral examinations are happening for some levels
- 3:28Speaker 2: right now. So all the best. Good luck.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Would you
- 3:31Speaker 1: say at least here in Singapore, we are in an
- 3:34Speaker 1: influential position, you and me,
- 3:38Speaker 2: two of us,
- 3:38Speaker 1: both of us, yeah.
- 3:40Speaker 2: In some ways
- 3:41Speaker 1: maybe
- 3:42Speaker 1: the words that we say on national radio might have
- 3:44Speaker 1: an impact on someone's
- 3:45Speaker 1: life.
- 3:46Speaker 2: It might on at least one person. OK,
- 3:49Speaker 1: I don't know whether this count as me using my
- 3:53Speaker 1: voice for good, and I don't know if you agree
- 3:55Speaker 1: with me about this one.
- 3:57Speaker 1: But over the last few days, I feel the biggest
- 4:00Speaker 1: discussion here in Singapore, Maju Forest.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Oh, so you have thoughts about that?
- 4:07Speaker 1: I,
- 4:09Speaker 2: and you think that maybe
- 4:10Speaker 1: is
- 4:11Speaker 1: there, is there a way to save it? Is there
- 4:13Speaker 1: a way to preserve Gilman Barracks? That's my question.
- 4:15Speaker 2: I know, I know. Um, there are many areas in
- 4:18Speaker 2: Singapore that I hope will never leave.
- 4:21Speaker 2: Or we'll never lose it, you know, just like that
- 4:23Speaker 2: tree I was telling you opposite, um, Jeremy's house that
- 4:26Speaker 2: I'm like, no, don't take it down, but it's going
- 4:29Speaker 2: to be taken down.
- 4:30Speaker 1: To
- 4:30Speaker 2: be
- 4:31Speaker 1: fair, I think some members of parliament and ministers have
- 4:33Speaker 1: been saying that this has actually been in the URA
- 4:35Speaker 1: master plan since the 1980s. So, so in a way
- 4:40Speaker 1: it's saying if you never read, it's it's there lah
- 4:43Speaker 1: from the 1980s, but
- 4:45Speaker 1: Given how people are very vocal about these two places,
- 4:49Speaker 1: Gilman Barracks and Maju Forest, I, I wonder what's gonna
- 4:52Speaker 1: happen because people are signing petitions. There are some, uh, online,
- 4:57Speaker 1: I won't call them influencers, but people who have a
- 5:00Speaker 1: huge following to online. They are actually sharing their opinions
- 5:03Speaker 1: and people are agreeing. So I think this will be
- 5:06Speaker 1: interesting if there are any updates, we'll let you know
- 5:08Speaker 1: here on
- 5:08Speaker 2: 987. Yeah, I'm invested honestly because
- 5:10Speaker 2: When it comes to these things, I'm glad actually to
- 5:13Speaker 2: see Singaporeans being more vocal because I think in a
- 5:15Speaker 2: country where we're so tiny, right, we cannot afford to
- 5:18Speaker 2: lose more
- 5:18Speaker 2: nature.
- 5:19Speaker 1: So my thought is also, if for example, Maju forest
- 5:22Speaker 1: gets cleared, you know, I think they're going to clear
- 5:25Speaker 1: about what, 15 hectares of it and leave 8 for
- 5:27Speaker 1: the greenery.
- 5:28Speaker 2: What about the wildlife is it? Yeah,
- 5:30Speaker 1: will they shift
- 5:31Speaker 1: elsewhere and will they start invading people's homes?
- 5:34Speaker 2: But that's the, that's the problem from the start,
- 5:36Speaker 1: right?
- 5:36Speaker 2: Well, you, it may be seen as a problem, but
- 5:39Speaker 2: it also may be seen as how do we live
- 5:41Speaker 2: harmoniously with with
- 5:43Speaker 2: the animals.
- 5:44Speaker 1: But also disclaimer just to kind of decisions, they will
- 5:47Speaker 1: always do a study with the experts in that area
- 5:50Speaker 1: before they announce something like that.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Yeah, not just displaced animals randomly.
- 5:55Speaker 1: There you go.
- 5:55Speaker 2: Faking smiles right here on 987, but thankfully with our show,
- 5:58Speaker 2: you don't have to. I hope that you're actually laughing
- 6:01Speaker 2: along with us or at us.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Faking smiles, something I do at every
- 6:04Speaker 1: networking event.
- 6:05Speaker 2: OK, yes, who ends up having to make all the
- 6:08Speaker 2: small talk. Thank
- 6:09Speaker 1: you. Yes, thank you for your service to our nation.
- 6:11Speaker 1: What do I get?
- 6:12Speaker 2: What do I get from Joakim?
- 6:13Speaker 1: I'll
- 6:13Speaker 2: feed you. OK. Oh,
- 6:14Speaker 1: OK.
- 6:16Speaker 1: I'll get you some good makan.
- 6:17Speaker 2: OK, sure, yeah, it's a fair trade.
- 6:19Speaker 1: You don't want your tini.
- 6:21Speaker 2: I, I don't mind. I don't mind. Yeah, but I
- 6:23Speaker 2: also don't necessarily enjoy the small talk on behalf of
- 6:26Speaker 2: two people. There we go.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Anyway, about to open up the phone lines, 669-11987. But first,
- 6:31Speaker 2: a big shout out to my lovely girlies from Saint
- 6:34Speaker 2: Anthony's Kenosian Conference Secondary School. Very long.
- 6:38Speaker 2: SACS.
- 6:40Speaker 2: No, no, that's primary school, but they changed the, the,
- 6:43Speaker 2: the naming of the class as well. This is secondary
- 6:45Speaker 1: school. Secondary school is afters,
- 6:48Speaker 2: I am not sure now, but back then ours was
- 6:52Speaker 2: just numbers, wasn't very exciting. So we didn't have like
- 6:54Speaker 2: virtues or anything anyway.
- 6:56Speaker 2: Um, I wanted to give a big shout out to them.
- 6:58Speaker 2: One of the most engaging groups that I've ever come in. Um,
- 7:02Speaker 2: so many people volunteered to want to be on air.
- 7:05Speaker 1: So were they from a
- 7:05Speaker 1: CCA?
- 7:06Speaker 2: No, they, you know what, a lot of them didn't
- 7:08Speaker 2: even know each other. They signed up and then they
- 7:10Speaker 2: met each other through this, uh, meeting.
- 7:13Speaker 2: At the studio and uh when they actually volunteered to
- 7:17Speaker 2: go on air, right, some of them paired up and
- 7:19Speaker 2: they didn't know each other prior to that, but got chemistry,
- 7:21Speaker 2: so I was like, hey, not bad.
- 7:22Speaker 1: I just thought of the perfect phase 2A or 2B
- 7:26Speaker 1: for you, which is in case you have a daughter
- 7:28Speaker 1: next time, primary one sign ups, right? Why don't you
- 7:31Speaker 1: start a Saint Anthony's broadcast club?
- 7:34Speaker 2: Could be,
- 7:34Speaker 1: right? Then you volunteer your time.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Yes. How often will I have to be on ground
- 7:39Speaker 2: like in school? Twice a week, twice. OK, that's not
- 7:42Speaker 2: so bad. Yeah, I don't mind.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Hey man, I'll offer my services for sure. Yeah. Give
- 7:46Speaker 2: us a call though, 669-11987. Whether or not you're from
- 7:51Speaker 2: the group that came in yesterday, it doesn't matter. You know,
- 7:53Speaker 2: a lot of them managed to go on air. Love
- 7:55Speaker 2: you so much. Hope to see you again very soon
- 7:56Speaker 2: and maybe bring more different students down in the future
- 7:59Speaker 2: as well, you know, when Joakim is back in full force.
- 8:03Speaker 2: Hello. Hi, good morning. What's your name? My name is Andrea. Hello,
- 8:09Speaker 1: Andrea, which school are you from? I'm from Chong. Chongfu Primary. Nice.
- 8:13Speaker 2: And are you with anyone? Like, do you have a
- 8:15Speaker 2: sibling with you? No, I'm with my mother. Oh, your mom. OK, hi.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Hello mom. Hello, hello.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Alright, Andrea, so what's the best thing about Chongfu Primary?
- 8:25Speaker 1: I like to go to the library. I love to
- 8:27Speaker 1: read the book. OK, I was gonna say.
- 8:29Speaker 1: The air conditioning, but yes, reading the book
- 8:31Speaker 2: is fine. I know that's the reason why you went
- 8:34Speaker 2: to the library when you were in school. I won't
- 8:36Speaker 2: deny we are very different people. OK, what song can
- 8:39Speaker 2: we get you today then and who is it going
- 8:41Speaker 2: out to? OK, that's coming up for you right now.
- 8:44Speaker 2: You have a fantastic day at school.
- 8:46Speaker 1: OK? OK, this is something that might make you chuckle
- 8:50Speaker 1: on this Wednesday morning, but also I'm gonna take a
- 8:53Speaker 1: risk here, OK, Sonia.
- 8:55Speaker 1: The Streisand effect. What do you understand from this phrase?
- 8:59Speaker 2: You know, I've heard of this phrase before, but I
- 9:01Speaker 2: never really looked into
- 9:02Speaker 2: it.
- 9:02Speaker 1: OK, so maybe using the phrase Streisand effect to describe
- 9:06Speaker 1: this case could be inaccurate because Streisand effect usually involves
- 9:09Speaker 1: maybe you are hiding some info.
- 9:12Speaker 1: OK, and that's why the public are now extra curious
- 9:15Speaker 1: to find out what's the info you're hiding, OK, and
- 9:18Speaker 1: it might get blown up in the news and people
- 9:20Speaker 1: know more about it and the, the attempt to cover
- 9:24Speaker 1: up fails miserably. OK, alright, OK, here we go.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Across the causeway, a former prime minister's wife is suing
- 9:37Speaker 1: a Malaysian comedian
- 9:39Speaker 2: for because during a show,
- 9:43Speaker 1: and the grounds of suing is defamation. OK.
- 9:47Speaker 1: And here is the joke, because for a comedian or
- 9:51Speaker 1: for a, for a comedy show, you got to pay
- 9:54Speaker 1: a ticket to go watch it, right? OK, and usually
- 9:57Speaker 1: the jokes stay there, but
- 9:59Speaker 2: because someone there leaked it or what that
- 10:02Speaker 1: and also now because the, uh, wife of a former
- 10:06Speaker 1: world leader is suing the comedian, the joke has now
- 10:10Speaker 1: become worldwide.
- 10:10Speaker 2: Knowledge. And now everyone wants to know why, right? Can
- 10:13Speaker 2: I please read you, I would love to hear it.
- 10:15Speaker 1: During
- 10:15Speaker 1: the performance, the defendant displayed images of scary, mythological creatures
- 10:20Speaker 1: from Malaysian folklore,
- 10:21Speaker 2: dear,
- 10:22Speaker 1: including but not limited to the Toyo, Pontianak, and Po Chong,
- 10:27Speaker 1: before displaying the plaintiff's image to the audience as part
- 10:31Speaker 1: of the joke's narrative.
- 10:35Speaker 1: The plaintiff further alleged that Harith had joked about drivers
- 10:38Speaker 1: looking in their rearview mirror on a dark road and
- 10:41Speaker 1: seeing a terrifying figure. At which point, the defendant's, sorry,
- 10:46Speaker 1: the plaintiff's image was displayed on screen. Oh
- 10:50Speaker 2: dear, OK.
- 10:52Speaker 1: I'm not gonna say who in case you get sued, but.
- 10:56Speaker 2: If you know, you know, if you know, you
- 10:58Speaker 1: know, because you go and sue the comedian, the entire
- 11:01Speaker 1: world now knows about this joke,
- 11:04Speaker 2: and you get blown out of proportion, right?
- 11:05Speaker 1: You're gonna get more people drawn to the case and
- 11:06Speaker 1: making fun of you.
- 11:12Speaker 2: Well, there's not much to be said about this case,
- 11:15Speaker 2: but I, I, I wonder how it's gonna unfold.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Exactly. I wonder if this person is suing this particular comedian,
- 11:21Speaker 2: I wonder if there are grounds for it. Like, I just,
- 11:24Speaker 2: I'm curious. Yeah, there might be,
- 11:26Speaker 1: but this person might need to sue plenty of other
- 11:30Speaker 1: comedians as well.
- 11:31Speaker 2: Yeah, but this one unfortunately got caught in a way, yeah.
- 11:34Speaker 2: You know what, that's, that's not quite cool. I feel
- 11:36Speaker 2: like sometimes when you attend these shows, right, or even
- 11:40Speaker 2: Concerts or or whatever. Um, try your best to just
- 11:43Speaker 2: be in the moment and not.
- 11:46Speaker 2: Not like documenting yet about it, but OK, that being said,
- 11:50Speaker 2: I understand that also, you know, especially here in Singapore,
- 11:53Speaker 2: whatever shows come through, be it a comedian or, you know,
- 11:56Speaker 2: stand-up comedy show or a play or musical, whatever, right?
- 12:00Speaker 2: Of course, there there's still some rules about whether or not,
- 12:03Speaker 2: you know, your content might be stirring trouble in certain
- 12:06Speaker 2: communities or like it doesn't sit well with our communities.
- 12:09Speaker 2: Then I understand as well that you don't want to
- 12:11Speaker 2: stage it here, right?
- 12:12Speaker 1: OK, that's why I want to give a small heads
- 12:15Speaker 1: up to our friend Xiaxue because chimed
- 12:18Speaker 2: in on it
- 12:18Speaker 1: 7 years ago, did a makeup tutorial about this person
- 12:21Speaker 1: as well.
- 12:22Speaker 2: You see, now you're making things worse, joking.
- 12:26Speaker 2: So, um, would you say that, you know, when you, uh,
- 12:30Speaker 2: do your laundry and hang your clothes at home, right,
- 12:33Speaker 2: where do you usually hang it? Do you have like
- 12:35Speaker 2: those what we call galas, you know, like your mom
- 12:38Speaker 2: would say, you hang on the gala or a rack
- 12:40Speaker 2: or what is it?
- 12:41Speaker 1: We now do indoor drying with
- 12:43Speaker 2: the rack,
- 12:44Speaker 1: but in the past we used to hang it outside.
- 12:46Speaker 1: But with the amount of birds in my area,
- 12:48Speaker 2: you kind of don't want it to be out there, right? Yeah,
- 12:50Speaker 1: maybe it's time to invest in a stein or stegan,
- 12:53Speaker 1: however you say it.
- 12:54Speaker 1: The indoor drying rack that's a fan on
- 12:56Speaker 1: it.
- 12:57Speaker 2: Oh, OK. Yeah, actually there are many brands that have
- 12:59Speaker 2: different devices to help you with that. But anyway, that's
- 13:01Speaker 2: another topic because, um, I bet you've not seen clothes
- 13:05Speaker 2: being hung over at a fitness corner before.
- 13:10Speaker 2: You know, the fitness corner often looks a bit like
- 13:12Speaker 2: a playground, right? But they've got more like bars and
- 13:15Speaker 2: racks there, I guess for people to do pull-ups, push-ups
- 13:18Speaker 2: and all.
- 13:19Speaker 1: These are the kind of things that you see on Stom.
- 13:22Speaker 2: Yeah, so now it's made the news because a fitness
- 13:24Speaker 2: corner in Fernvale, like I mentioned earlier, turned into a
- 13:28Speaker 2: public laundry drying rack for some reason. There were shirts, shorts, towels,
- 13:33Speaker 2: and even underwear.
- 13:36Speaker 2: Hanging on multiple exercise equipment, so residents couldn't quite use
- 13:39Speaker 2: the public facilities. This is near Block 414A Fernvale Link.
- 13:45Speaker 2: So I think complaints were filed, and photos were posted
- 13:49Speaker 2: on a, there's a Facebook group called Complain Singapore, by
- 13:52Speaker 2: the way. I didn't even know that, but yeah, it's,
- 13:55Speaker 2: it's been posted there. A lot of um funny reactions online. Now, um,
- 14:00Speaker 2: people are suggesting, hey, um, town council, maybe you should
- 14:02Speaker 2: put no drying of laundry.
- 14:05Speaker 2: At the fitness corner now. I'm like, is it necessary?
- 14:09Speaker 2: Why is it even happening?
- 14:10Speaker 1: Can
- 14:10Speaker 2: I
- 14:10Speaker 1: ask, did they identify who the clothes belong to? No,
- 14:13Speaker 1: they
- 14:13Speaker 2: didn't. So, um, the town council actually responded. They said, yes,
- 14:16Speaker 2: we're aware of the incident. They did not mention if they,
- 14:20Speaker 2: they did not mention who or identify who was the
- 14:22Speaker 2: one that did that. It could even be multiple people,
- 14:25Speaker 2: to be honest. I don't know whether like
- 14:26Speaker 2: Perhaps it could be a case where people are rooming
- 14:29Speaker 2: together and then they just want, you know, a separate
- 14:33Speaker 2: place to air and dry their clothes. Maybe there's not
- 14:35Speaker 2: enough space at home. I don't know the fitness corner.
- 14:38Speaker 2: So they did come out to say they seek the
- 14:40Speaker 2: cooperation of residents to use shared community facilities responsibly.
- 14:45Speaker 2: And please keep it clean and enjoyable for everyone.
- 14:48Speaker 1: Can you imagine? Yeah, because of this, the Fernvale Town
- 14:51Speaker 1: Council must go and spend money to print the
- 14:53Speaker 2: sign to
- 14:54Speaker 2: say no drying of your
- 14:55Speaker 1: laundry please no clothes here, no drying of clothes here.
- 14:59Speaker 2: Why? Why? I mean, it looks like it's clean, hopefully, but.
- 15:04Speaker 2: Even if it's clean clothes, why wouldn't hang it on that?
- 15:06Speaker 2: It doesn't seem very hygienic, right? This
- 15:08Speaker 1: air your
- 15:08Speaker 1: dirty laundry to a whole new level. Yeah, there you go.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Something you don't see in Singapore, but you see plenty
- 15:14Speaker 1: of in Europe, Australia or New
- 15:17Speaker 1: Zealand.
- 15:17Speaker 2: No, no, wait, where did you say?
- 15:21Speaker 2: I wasn't quite listening to the country she was listening.
- 15:23Speaker 2: I don't know whether all of them have snow. Europe,
- 15:25Speaker 1: Australia, New Zealand.
- 15:26Speaker 2: Oh,
- 15:26Speaker 1: OK, OK, yeah, yeah. It's, for example, when you go
- 15:29Speaker 1: on those nature walks, then you'll see, you know, a
- 15:32Speaker 1: friendly uncle and auntie with their pet dog walking up unleashed.
- 15:36Speaker 1: It's the friendliest dogs ever that you meet in life.
- 15:39Speaker 2: Um, I didn't have that experience when I was in. Yeah,
- 15:44Speaker 2: this lady's dog was, I sent you the video. I
- 15:46Speaker 2: posted it on Instagram.
- 15:49Speaker 2: The one that looked cute at first and then it
- 15:50Speaker 2: went like
- 15:52Speaker 1: it's always the small dogs that you know break your
- 15:55Speaker 1: impression and gives you PTSD, but I want to say
- 15:58Speaker 1: hello to Tokyo the Labrador who lives in Scotland.
- 16:03Speaker 1: I think Tokyo and her, her owner were going up
- 16:07Speaker 1: Ben Nevis, only the highest mountain in Scotland, right?
- 16:10Speaker 2: Oh, OK, so funny. I said hill just now,
- 16:13Speaker 1: but unfortunately for Tokyo the Labradoodle, Tokyo had to be
- 16:18Speaker 1: rescued halfway. Why? You know why?
- 16:21Speaker 2: Why? Tired.
- 16:22Speaker 1: No, he was eating all sorts of
- 16:24Speaker 2: things. Oh
- 16:25Speaker 1: no, and Tokyo actually ingested cannabis.
- 16:28Speaker 2: No, no.
- 16:31Speaker 2: Oh, wait, it's growing in the, in the wilderness? No,
- 16:34Speaker 2: the
- 16:35Speaker 1: mountain, OK, let's be honest, some people go to Ben
- 16:38Speaker 1: Nevis to do some weird nonsense sometimes. OK. So yeah,
- 16:41Speaker 1: it could be discarded cannabis by people who used it
- 16:44Speaker 1: in Scotland. So you can see in the picture when
- 16:48Speaker 1: he was when she was being brought down, her face
- 16:52Speaker 2: is just what's happening like so confused.
- 16:57Speaker 2: Poor thing. Well, I've actually seen um videos of dogs
- 17:01Speaker 2: eating such substances like accidentally before. I mean, I guess
- 17:05Speaker 2: they got to get it flushed out at the vet
- 17:06Speaker 2: or something.
- 17:06Speaker 1: So
- 17:07Speaker 1: the owner was very thankful that the rescue team arrived
- 17:10Speaker 1: in a matter of minutes. And because she realized that
- 17:13Speaker 1: why is my dog not being able to use her
- 17:16Speaker 1: legs properly? Why is she disorientated and all that. So
- 17:20Speaker 1: there you go.
- 17:21Speaker 2: You, like, honestly, a story to tell though. Like I'm sure.
- 17:23Speaker 2: If they made a video of it, it's gone viral
- 17:25Speaker 2: already.
- 17:26Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure the next gossip session with Tokyo and
- 17:29Speaker 1: her friends, she'll be backing the entire story. Yeah,
- 17:31Speaker 2: she will, she will, yeah. But this one, honestly, a
- 17:35Speaker 2: moment to remember for a long time. That's why even
- 17:38Speaker 2: in Singapore, right, like just, I mean, clearly we won't
- 17:42Speaker 2: be having those things strewn around the hill or whatever,
- 17:46Speaker 2: but even for regular items like things that might have
- 17:49Speaker 2: been discarded like.
- 17:50Speaker 2: You know, wrappers or sharp objects or whatever. Sometimes dogs
- 17:54Speaker 2: can accidentally eat those. So please be really careful.
- 18:01Speaker 1: Be careful and clean up after your
- 18:01Speaker 2: dog. Yeah, my one of my friends had a very
- 18:03Speaker 2: tragic story where, um, their family dog actually, I think,
- 18:08Speaker 2: ate something by accident outside like at a piece of,
- 18:11Speaker 2: I don't know, a piece of rubber or a piece
- 18:13Speaker 2: of something. Maybe it was part of a shoe sole
- 18:15Speaker 2: or I don't know, like they didn't catch it, but
- 18:18Speaker 2: It was too late, you know, by the time they
- 18:19Speaker 2: found it, so very unfortunate for the dog, but be
- 18:22Speaker 2: careful out there. I love my dog, Maxie. I want
- 18:25Speaker 2: to give you a hug. I just want to squeeze
- 18:27Speaker 2: her till her eyeballs pop.
- 18:29Speaker 1: No, don't
- 18:29Speaker 1: do that.
- 18:30Speaker 2: I love you so much. Oh my goodness, Vincent Boon,
- 18:33Speaker 2: you will not.
- 18:34Speaker 1: No wonder Maxi looks traumatized half the time. No, she's not.
- 18:36Speaker 1: She loves it. Disclaimer, I love my mom very much.
- 18:41Speaker 2: Yes,
- 18:41Speaker 1: we know. Disclaimer, but there's no but. I just want
- 18:45Speaker 1: to put it out there. There's a
- 18:46Speaker 1: but. There's a
- 18:47Speaker 2: but from
- 18:48Speaker 1: this morning.
- 18:50Speaker 1: Don't
- 18:50Speaker 2: pretend.
- 18:51Speaker 1: OK, can I start the story first? Yeah, yeah. Alright, so, um,
- 18:54Speaker 1: at the start of this year, I was at the
- 18:57Speaker 1: heaviest I've ever been in my life, OK, 86 kg
- 19:02Speaker 1: because of my knee injury last year and all that,
- 19:04Speaker 1: and I told my mom, Mom, I'm in desperate need
- 19:06Speaker 1: to lose some weight. I could use your help. OK.
- 19:09Speaker 1: So she started to make me breakfast, almost.
- 19:13Speaker 1: Every morning and I've gone down, I've dropped about a
- 19:16Speaker 1: good 7 kg combined with running and all that, so
- 19:19Speaker 1: I'm very thankful. I'm very thankful. Just that this morning,
- 19:24Speaker 1: and this is the first morning it has happened, OK,
- 19:27Speaker 1: because my mom usually wake up very early. She'll prepare
- 19:29Speaker 1: a nice sandwich for me with some apples and tomatoes.
- 19:33Speaker 2: That reminds me of me when I was primary 2. Thanks.
- 19:37Speaker 1: I'm still a kid, I guess. See, I'm holding it
- 19:39Speaker 1: right now, OK, and my mom's menu is very extensive. OK,
- 19:44Speaker 1: sometimes it's
- 19:45Speaker 2: different course,
- 19:47Speaker 1: French toast, ham and cheese. Not bad. Today's menu though, OK,
- 19:53Speaker 1: it was a bulgogi
- 19:54Speaker 1: sandwich.
- 19:55Speaker 2: So, OK,
- 19:56Speaker 1: I know. And for the morning I think it might
- 19:58Speaker 1: be quite heavy on your tummy, right?
- 20:00Speaker 1: So what happened was, um, you know I'm a terribly
- 20:04Speaker 1: light sleeper, OK? I I hear a pin drop, I
- 20:08Speaker 1: wake up straight away and my mom knows this and
- 20:11Speaker 1: she knows how much sleep matters to me.
- 20:13Speaker 1: Just there for her to prepare this bulgogi sandwich,
- 20:16Speaker 2: she
- 20:17Speaker 1: had to be frying and all that
- 20:18Speaker 2: and clanging cling clang cling
- 20:20Speaker 1: clang, OK, at 4:15, 4:30, 4:45 a.m.s rough. So I
- 20:25Speaker 1: was awake at 4:00 a.m. already because I couldn't sleep.
- 20:28Speaker 1: So every time I heard, OK, the clanging stopped, I
- 20:30Speaker 1: try to.
- 20:31Speaker 1: Sleep a little bit more, it starts again.
- 20:32Speaker 2: It's
- 20:33Speaker 2: just like how sometimes, um, because our hours are so odd, right?
- 20:37Speaker 2: When I go back home in the afternoon and sometimes
- 20:39Speaker 2: if we have like a gig at night, for example,
- 20:41Speaker 2: I want to try and like have a short nap,
- 20:43Speaker 2: like an hour or something, and just so happened at
- 20:46Speaker 2: that very moment when I try to close my eyes.
- 20:51Speaker 2: Someone doing construction drilling and all that hacking works,
- 20:54Speaker 1: that's right. OK, so I got up at 4:45 a.m.
- 20:58Speaker 1: and the first thing I did was I went to
- 21:00Speaker 1: my mom. Mom, thank you for the sandwich, but can
- 21:03Speaker 1: I ask, uh, next time, next time can prepare something
- 21:06Speaker 1: more simple, you know, a bit noisy, the cling clang
- 21:09Speaker 1: because I cannot sleep. My mom got triggered. Oh no.
- 21:13Speaker 1: So unappreciative. I wake up so early prepare for you
- 21:17Speaker 1: a good meal, ah, you want all the sodium, all
- 21:19Speaker 1: the MSG food, ah, so unappreciative.
- 21:22Speaker 1: I
- 21:23Speaker 1: can't do anything here in this house.
- 21:25Speaker 1: Ah, when I talk, you say keep quiet. When I cook,
- 21:28Speaker 1: you say it quiet.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Let, let, let me guess, you just kind of stood
- 21:31Speaker 2: there not saying
- 21:33Speaker 1: anything, you know, in my messy hair and my pajamas.
- 21:36Speaker 2: I already imagined
- 21:37Speaker 1: that I'm like, Ma, why are you triggered? So rude.
- 21:40Speaker 1: Don't talk. Don't talk. Don't talk. Don't talk to me.
- 21:43Speaker 2: OK, I hate to tell you this, but there's no
- 21:44Speaker 2: winning anymore in this, at this point. But
- 21:47Speaker 1: you see, ah, 99% of the time I was not affected.
- 21:53Speaker 1: Just today, that one day I just said, Ma, just
- 21:56Speaker 1: make something simple. You know, no need to fry bulgogi
- 21:58Speaker 1: in the morning. Canna scolding.
- 22:01Speaker 2: Was this exactly the way that you told her, like nicely,
- 22:05Speaker 2: or was it slightly irritable?
- 22:06Speaker 1: No, no, no, I don't want to trigger her also,
- 22:09Speaker 1: so I was very respectful, you know. I gave her,
- 22:11Speaker 1: I said, Mommy, thank you. I appreciate your effort.
- 22:15Speaker 1: But next time prepare something more simple. She got angry.
- 22:18Speaker 2: OK, OK, I got, I got an idea for you. OK, OK,
- 22:20Speaker 2: so what I might have done is I would have
- 22:24Speaker 2: just sucked it up and you know, whatever. I'll just
- 22:27Speaker 2: say thank you, thank you so much, you know, go
- 22:28Speaker 2: and eat it.
- 22:29Speaker 2: Um, and then the next time, not, not on the
- 22:32Speaker 2: same day, not on the same day, give it a
- 22:33Speaker 2: few days, let, let it simmer first, you know, let
- 22:36Speaker 2: it sit, and you already said thank you, love the food,
- 22:38Speaker 2: very tasty. Maybe you go and text her right now
- 22:40Speaker 2: and say wow, very good sandwich.
- 22:41Speaker 1: She knows I enjoy the food. Yeah. No,
- 22:43Speaker 2: you
- 22:43Speaker 2: must reinforce. You must reinforce. You must tell her like,
- 22:46Speaker 2: I really, wow, what a great sandwich. Later in 10
- 22:48Speaker 1: minutes I'll tell her.
- 22:50Speaker 2: Then can you not wait, let me hear.
- 22:52Speaker 2: Then in a few days you say, but I prefer,
- 22:55Speaker 2: actually I prefer eating this for like lunch, for example.
- 22:58Speaker 2: So maybe for breakfast, wow, I love your ham sandwich.
- 23:01Speaker 2: I love it. But actually because you want it to
- 23:04Speaker 2: be quiet, just say I love my favorite, your ham sandwich.
- 23:07Speaker 1: I shall try your tactic. You must
- 23:09Speaker 2: do the reverse. Don't tell her not to do something.
- 23:13Speaker 2: You must tell her to do what you like, which
- 23:15Speaker 2: is ham sandwich.
- 23:16Speaker 1: If your
- 23:16Speaker 1: tactic works, I bring it for for bulgogi.
- 23:21Speaker 1: Well, that would be ironic, but OK, uh, is this
- 23:23Speaker 1: an Asian parent thing, you know, did you have situations
- 23:26Speaker 1: like this as well with your mom or dad?
- 23:28Speaker 2: Yeah, OK, so when I did when I lived with them,
- 23:30Speaker 2: but this might be my fault at least twice a week.
- 23:34Speaker 2: I'm gonna stop you there.
- 23:37Speaker 2: At least twice a week. It's fault. So, um, that,
- 23:40Speaker 2: that doesn't stop life of the, you know, that's the
- 23:43Speaker 2: family-related routine and life to go on as usual on
- 23:47Speaker 2: the weekends, right? So they will wake up in the
- 23:49Speaker 2: morning and I don't know, do like vacuum the house
- 23:52Speaker 2: or like start cleaning or you know, doing the weekend things, right?
- 23:55Speaker 2: And I, I think I used to say like, can
- 23:57Speaker 2: you not start so early? But of course I couldn't
- 23:59Speaker 2: scold her because it's 1111 a.m. already. That's not. So
- 24:04Speaker 2: my mom was like, it's your fault. It's your fault
- 24:05Speaker 2: that you came back so late.
- 24:06Speaker 1: I
- 24:07Speaker 1: agree with your mom and dad.
- 24:08Speaker 2: So yeah, that, that's, that's purely on me.
- 24:10Speaker 1: 669-11987 or you can WhatsApp us at 90.
- 24:14Speaker 1: 050987. Do you have a similar situation with your parents?
- 24:18Speaker 2: Yeah, is this an Asian parent thing or Asian household
- 24:21Speaker 2: thing or what?
- 24:22Speaker 1: Like you trigger them
- 24:23Speaker 1: unintentionally. Yeah.
- 24:24Speaker 2: Give us a call, let us know, 669-11987. We have
- 24:28Speaker 2: a beautiful meal for you, Gypsy at Fullerton facing the
- 24:31Speaker 2: Marina Bay area. We want you to have it.
- 24:34Speaker 2: Call us right now or you can also drop us
- 24:36Speaker 2: a message 90050987, um, drawing inspiration from Joe's experience this
- 24:44Speaker 2: morning with his mom. Do you feel like it's, it's
- 24:47Speaker 2: essentially a very Asian thing, right, for most likely your
- 24:51Speaker 2: parents or your grandparents or the people that you live with?
- 24:54Speaker 2: Just making a lot of noise early in the morning,
- 24:56Speaker 2: waking up the whole household.
- 24:57Speaker 2: Is that a very Asian thing?
- 24:59Speaker 1: I
- 24:59Speaker 2: want
- 24:59Speaker 1: to say good morning to CC on WhatsApp. Hey guys, same.
- 25:03Speaker 1: When we were younger, my mom loves to vacuum early
- 25:06Speaker 1: on the weekends, and one habit she had was to
- 25:09Speaker 1: wake up at 3 to 4 a.m. to load the
- 25:11Speaker 1: laundry so that she can hang them up early morning
- 25:14Speaker 1: at 3 a.m. but she purposely does it with lots
- 25:17Speaker 1: of noise because she wants us to know she's doing it.
- 25:20Speaker 1: Offered to help, but all of us just want to sleep.
- 25:23Speaker 1: I think she finds a kick in annoying
- 25:25Speaker 1: all of us.
- 25:25Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, secretly satisfied. One
- 25:29Speaker 1: coming in from Nilsson. Joakim, buy a white noise machine.
- 25:33Speaker 2: Oh, it doesn't really work for me though, white noise.
- 25:35Speaker 2: I tried pink noise as well.
- 25:37Speaker 1: What's
- 25:37Speaker 2: pink noise? Um, a different version of white noise. Sorry,
- 25:40Speaker 2: I can't. It's supposed to help you sleep.
- 25:43Speaker 1: Make it make sense.
- 25:44Speaker 2: It's supposed to help you sleep. OK.
- 25:47Speaker 1: He says it's perfect for light sleepers. It will stop
- 25:49Speaker 1: little sounds like that from waking you up. Works wonders
- 25:52Speaker 1: for my kids. I don't have to be on tippy
- 25:54Speaker 1: toes all the time when they're asleep.
- 25:56Speaker 2: Oh, so it helps you fall asleep and keeps you asleep.
- 25:59Speaker 2: I wonder. But if the clanging is loud enough, it
- 26:02Speaker 2: will wake you up, for
- 26:03Speaker 1: sure. It depends on the pitch of the sound as well, right?
- 26:06Speaker 2: Dude, OK, it, uh, I think to each its own,
- 26:08Speaker 2: it may work for some people. It doesn't quite work
- 26:11Speaker 2: for me because I don't know, my mind can be
- 26:13Speaker 2: quite active also. Can
- 26:14Speaker 1: you give
- 26:14Speaker 1: me one example of pink noise now you got me
- 26:17Speaker 1: a bit intrigued.
- 26:17Speaker 2: It sounds like almost a bit like static to some extent,
- 26:21Speaker 2: but there's some, um, on Spotify, right, where the pink
- 26:24Speaker 2: noise comes with piano. I've tried it before,
- 26:26Speaker 1: yeah, because when you say
- 26:27Speaker 2: it's quite relaxing.
- 26:28Speaker 1: I don't know why when you said pink noise, I
- 26:30Speaker 1: just thought Mean Girls, like the vocal of the means,
- 26:33Speaker 2: you know, white noise is like.
- 26:38Speaker 1: Static or rainfall or waterfall, yes, OK, some ghost.
- 26:45Speaker 2: There goes my career as a white noise, uh, noise
- 26:48Speaker 2: artist in the midst of a very relatable discussion right now,
- 26:54Speaker 2: especially in Asian households. Do you feel like, you know,
- 26:57Speaker 2: your parents or grandparents will purposely make a lot of
- 27:00Speaker 2: noise when you're sleeping in in the morning?
- 27:04Speaker 2: Does this happen
- 27:05Speaker 2: to you?
- 27:05Speaker 1: You feel like it's on purpose, but they're actually just
- 27:09Speaker 1: living their lives.
- 27:10Speaker 2: Actually, well, some of our listeners are saying it's on purpose,
- 27:14Speaker 2: for
- 27:14Speaker 1: sure. Wanna say good morning to Shafiq on WhatsApp. Hey
- 27:17Speaker 1: Sonia and Joakim, this happened not to me, but to
- 27:20Speaker 1: my dad, but my siblings and I got affected. So
- 27:23Speaker 1: there's one day my mom cooked mutton curry when my
- 27:27Speaker 1: dad doesn't like it, so he just told my mom nicely.
- 27:30Speaker 1: Hey, I don't like mutton. Why you cook? My mom
- 27:33Speaker 1: got triggered and said that she won't cook for the
- 27:36Speaker 1: house the next few days and says that we don't
- 27:38Speaker 1: appreciate her.
- 27:40Speaker 1: I thought it was just a joke from my mom,
- 27:41Speaker 1: but guess what, she actually meant it. We got to
- 27:43Speaker 1: buy outside food for a good 3 days. We all
- 27:46Speaker 1: blamed our father and asked him to say sorry to
- 27:49Speaker 1: our mom.
- 27:50Speaker 2: Because when you eat takeout food for too many days
- 27:53Speaker 2: in a row, you suddenly miss, you know, home-cooked food, yeah,
- 27:56Speaker 2: for sure.
- 27:57Speaker 1: One coming in from Miss Tay, and she has a point.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Good morning, Joakim. I agree with Sonia. It probably wasn't
- 28:04Speaker 1: the best moment to bring it up, especially when your
- 28:07Speaker 1: mom was so excited to serve the breakfast she worked
- 28:10Speaker 1: so hard on. I'm sure she'll take it to heart
- 28:12Speaker 1: if we share your concerns another time. Our mom is
- 28:15Speaker 1: always the best.
- 28:16Speaker 1: A disclaimer, I
- 28:17Speaker 1: love my mom.
- 28:17Speaker 2: No, no, no, yes, it's just I think I don't
- 28:19Speaker 2: know whether like guys and girls think of this differently
- 28:22Speaker 2: or maybe I've had time to process it. That's why
- 28:24Speaker 2: I'm like, you know, but I probably wouldn't have picked, uh,
- 28:27Speaker 2: picked on it in that moment. Also, because I don't
- 28:29Speaker 2: want to get into it before I get to go
- 28:31Speaker 2: to work, you know what I mean? Like I don't
- 28:33Speaker 2: want to start my day like
- 28:34Speaker 2: that.
- 28:34Speaker 1: Fine, I'll take notes,
- 28:38Speaker 2: Dylan is on the line. Thank you for waiting. What
- 28:40Speaker 2: about you? I think it's super.
- 28:42Speaker 2: Because,
- 28:42Speaker 1: uh,
- 28:42Speaker 2: it's insane because whenever we do like, um, Monday to
- 28:46Speaker 2: Friday work you manage to get a day off, they
- 28:48Speaker 2: will just wake you up for no reason, yeah, and
- 28:50Speaker 2: you're just trying to get a rest. My dad is
- 28:53Speaker 2: very intentional. My dad is intentional. He will come and
- 28:55Speaker 2: use the pen and knock knock you wake up, it's
- 28:58Speaker 2: early in the morning. Yeah. Do you think it's also
- 29:01Speaker 2: because they just want to spend time with us and
- 29:03Speaker 2: they don't want us to like waste a whole day
- 29:05Speaker 2: away sleeping or doing our own thing.
- 29:07Speaker 2: You just want quality time with us, you reckon? I
- 29:09Speaker 2: don't think so because I do go home after work
- 29:11Speaker 2: and there are plenty of time to spend time with,
- 29:15Speaker 2: but yeah, he, he's like watching the football and he
- 29:23Speaker 2: asked me to watch the football but that's kind of
- 29:23Speaker 2: cute though. He misses hanging out with you.
- 29:25Speaker 1: OK, Dylan, when you voice your displeasure, how does he
- 29:28Speaker 1: receive it? Does he get triggered or is he accepting
- 29:31Speaker 1: of it? He
- 29:31Speaker 1: will just pretend that nothing happened.
- 29:35Speaker 2: Once again, yet another very Asian trait.
- 29:37Speaker 1: There
- 29:37Speaker 2: we
- 29:37Speaker 1: go.
- 29:39Speaker 2: Thank you so much for your call, Dylan. Thank you
- 29:41Speaker 2: so much for your calls and your messages, by the way,
- 29:43Speaker 2: absolutely cracked us up. If you want to catch up
- 29:45Speaker 2: with it, you can do so on me Listen and Spotify.
- 29:48Speaker 2: But
- 29:48Speaker 1: for
- 29:48Speaker 1: today's winner, let's give it to Dylan who called us earlier. Congratulations.
- 29:54Speaker 2: You're like, I think this was a super relatable one
- 29:57Speaker 2: because in Asia, especially here in Singapore, seeing how a
- 30:00Speaker 2: lot of us do stay with our folks, right, and
- 30:03Speaker 2: our families for quite some time, you will experience all
- 30:06Speaker 2: their quirks and all these things that might trigger each
- 30:08Speaker 2: other.
- 30:09Speaker 1: So Dylan, we're giving you a $100 dining experience. All
- 30:12Speaker 1: thanks to our friends over at Gypsy One Fullerton.
- 30:14Speaker 2: Nice. That place
- 30:16Speaker 1: whenever I run.
- 30:19Speaker 1: Past it,
- 30:19Speaker 1: I'm like,
- 30:19Speaker 2: should I just stop and just go for a drink
- 30:20Speaker 2: or food. Speaking of drinks, they do have some fantastic
- 30:22Speaker 2: weekday happy hour specials. Drinks start at just like $12
- 30:26Speaker 2: between 3 to 6 p.m. and you get complimentary chicken
- 30:29Speaker 2: karagey with every two regular priced alcoholic drinks from 5
- 30:33Speaker 2: to 7 p.m. So this is the kind of happy
- 30:35Speaker 2: hour that we want. Um, I just want to take
- 30:37Speaker 2: you to Cross the Causeway in Malaysia right now.
- 30:40Speaker 2: This happened that I feel could have happened to anyone,
- 30:44Speaker 2: including private hire car drivers in Singapore. Don't
- 30:46Speaker 1: know why, but loads of things happen in
- 30:48Speaker 1: Malaysia.
- 30:49Speaker 2: Oh, I thought you were gonna say loads of things
- 30:51Speaker 2: happening with private hire rides recently. Yeah, a lot of
- 30:56Speaker 2: interesting stories coming up. Anyway, this driver shared a story
- 31:01Speaker 2: about how a very drunk passenger boarded his car, OK.
- 31:06Speaker 2: And this passenger was super drunk and left something behind
- 31:11Speaker 2: in the vehicle.
- 31:13Speaker 2: And it was actually her bra. Yeah.
- 31:17Speaker 2: So in my mind I'm thinking like, was she? Well,
- 31:21Speaker 2: you're really Mr. Skeptical, you know, OK, so he, he
- 31:23Speaker 2: was the one that came out to talk about this
- 31:25Speaker 2: story because it gets even better. She leaves the bra
- 31:29Speaker 2: behind for some reason. Maybe she's uncomfortable, she wanted to
- 31:32Speaker 2: lie down or she was way too drunk to realize
- 31:34Speaker 2: where she was. She did that. Um, he went home
- 31:38Speaker 2: and was going to bring his wife out for dinner.
- 31:41Speaker 2: Without checking the checking the car, he didn't check. So
- 31:44Speaker 2: then she comes in and she saw the bra in
- 31:45Speaker 2: the back seat.
- 31:47Speaker 2: And immediately, of course, I'm sure words were exchanged, maybe
- 31:51Speaker 2: a fight was picked. I don't know, uh, she was suspicious, but,
- 31:55Speaker 2: you know, he explained that, you know, it's not me.
- 31:57Speaker 2: I don't know what happened, like this drunk passengers dropped
- 31:59Speaker 2: this drunk passenger home like, um, last night or something
- 32:02Speaker 2: like that, and this happened.
- 32:04Speaker 2: So anyway, he openly talked about this story and um
- 32:08Speaker 2: he said, when I got home and was about to
- 32:10Speaker 2: take my wife out, she got really suspicious and and
- 32:13Speaker 2: angry and I just want to remind all passengers who
- 32:16Speaker 2: get into private hire cars if you're drunk, but no
- 32:19Speaker 2: matter how into
- 32:20Speaker 2: How intoxicated you are, please try not to leave your
- 32:22Speaker 2: items behind, trash, your bra. Take note, you're already grown up.
- 32:26Speaker 2: Don't act like a fool. Wow. He came out to
- 32:29Speaker 2: say that.
- 32:30Speaker 1: How can I really prove to my partner that it
- 32:33Speaker 1: was indeed a drunk passenger?
- 32:36Speaker 2: This is difficult to prove, right? I mean, unless words
- 32:39Speaker 2: were exchanged or you have the dashboard camera's recording sound,
- 32:42Speaker 2: but it's only recording sound. It doesn't record the image.
- 32:45Speaker 1: Yeah, this is a cheat.
- 32:50Speaker 1: Think about
- 32:51Speaker 2: it. OK, but how can like drivers protect themselves also?
- 32:55Speaker 2: I mean, we talk about weird and difficult drivers, but
- 32:58Speaker 2: there are also drivers that get themselves into situations with
- 33:02Speaker 2: difficult passengers, right? Always
- 33:03Speaker 1: check the car
- 33:05Speaker 1: the passenger leaves or even before they leave, just turn back,
- 33:09Speaker 1: have a look at the
- 33:09Speaker 1: back seat.
- 33:10Speaker 2: OK, that's the thing. So it was at night and
- 33:12Speaker 2: her bra was black. Oh, so it was black in color.
- 33:18Speaker 2: So I don't know whether you might not even see
- 33:20Speaker 2: it
- 33:21Speaker 1: actually. I don't know.
- 33:23Speaker 2: I know, yeah, so thankfully I think it sounds like
- 33:25Speaker 2: it's OK. He, he openly came out to explain this, so, yeah, yeah,
- 33:30Speaker 2: that's a stitch.
- 33:32Speaker 1: I'm still questioning the events, but OK, I believe
- 33:36Speaker 2: him.
- 33:37Speaker 1: I believe him. Let's give him the benefit of the doubt. Yeah,
- 33:39Speaker 2: I believe this guy. About to open up phone lines
- 33:41Speaker 2: right now for your tickets to catch Legally Blonde, the
- 33:44Speaker 2: musical here in Singapore. If you're not sure where this
- 33:47Speaker 2: came from, it's actually the iconic 2001 cult favorite film,
- 33:50Speaker 2: and you might already know what the storyline is. I
- 33:53Speaker 2: was just chatting about it on air just
- 33:56Speaker 2: yesterday.
- 33:56Speaker 1: Yeah, I cannot wait to see what Siti Khalija does
- 33:59Speaker 1: with the role. I know.
- 34:01Speaker 1: Peng as well. Naannya Ong's in it. Nathan Atono, Riley,
- 34:06Speaker 1: and 3 of them, Naania, Nathan, and Riley will be
- 34:08Speaker 1: here in our studio live tomorrow on the shock circuit.
- 34:12Speaker 2: So, um, just a quick question for you here today
- 34:15Speaker 2: to answer based off the plot of Legally Blonde. As
- 34:17Speaker 2: you know, the main character Elle Woods, um, she wants
- 34:21Speaker 2: to impress a guy and win this guy over, and
- 34:24Speaker 2: she decided she wants to be a lawyer. So she
- 34:26Speaker 2: made this switch in, you know, in her adult life,
- 34:29Speaker 2: and she started studying to be, be a lawyer.
- 34:31Speaker 2: And she will face all these stereotypes of blondes because
- 34:35Speaker 2: she's a, she's a beautiful blonde, so she's going to
- 34:38Speaker 2: face these stereotypes. So, our question for you this week is,
- 34:42Speaker 2: if you were to make a midlife career switch, just
- 34:45Speaker 2: do something completely left field, like completely different from what
- 34:48Speaker 2: you're doing right now. If you had the ability to
- 34:51Speaker 2: do that, what would you then pursue?
- 34:53Speaker 1: Hm, could
- 34:54Speaker 1: be anything to be the CEO of Tau. Yeah,
- 34:57Speaker 2: that's a good one. Yeah, why not? Why not, right?
- 34:59Speaker 1: Rake in all that cash.
- 35:00Speaker 2: Give us a call 669-11987. Actually, I wouldn't mind being
- 35:04Speaker 2: like Rihanna's dancer or something like that could be pretty
- 35:06Speaker 2: cool or Taylor Swift's, yeah, because I can't dance in
- 35:09Speaker 2: this lifetime. Maybe in another lifetime I can hopefully.
- 35:12Speaker 2: Hi, Sonia, this is Josh. Hi Josh, how are you today? Yeah,
- 35:16Speaker 2: I'm good, I'm good. I'm actually on the road right
- 35:18Speaker 2: now going to work, that they asked to call in,
- 35:20Speaker 2: so I decided to call
- 35:21Speaker 1: in. Alright, Josh, so for your Legally Blonde musical tickets,
- 35:25Speaker 1: if you could make a midlife career switch, what are
- 35:28Speaker 1: you doing right now and what would you do if
- 35:30Speaker 1: you could make that switch.
- 35:32Speaker 2: Alright, Joakim, so right now I'm actually uh in finance.
- 35:36Speaker 2: So if I could make
- 35:37Speaker 1: a switch,
- 35:38Speaker 2: I would actually want to choose to be a teacher.
- 35:40Speaker 2: Oh wow, interesting. What, what subjects? Any subject, because as
- 35:44Speaker 2: a father of two, right, I mean I see how
- 35:46Speaker 2: important good teachers are every day, and uh my, my,
- 35:50Speaker 2: my children also face some issues in school. The teacher
- 35:52Speaker 2: will be, it will be a good career and if
- 35:55Speaker 2: you actually ask me what subject I would think.
- 35:57Speaker 2: Math is actually very important. I mean, clearly, right, bro
- 36:00Speaker 2: is finance.
- 36:01Speaker 1: If I were to ask your kids to rate your
- 36:04Speaker 1: teaching skills, how much do you think they will give
- 36:06Speaker 1: you?
- 36:07Speaker 2: Uh,
- 36:07Speaker 1: depends on whether
- 36:08Speaker 2: I have, uh,
- 36:09Speaker 1: so-called goodies for them for
- 36:14Speaker 2: them. I,
- 36:15Speaker 1: the goodies is bribery,
- 36:17Speaker 2: bribery. I love that. OK, thank you so much for
- 36:21Speaker 2: your call and your answer and congratulations.
- 36:23Speaker 2: We're heading to catch Legally Blonde, the musical. I think
- 36:26Speaker 2: it's gonna be so much fun. Who are you going
- 36:28Speaker 2: to bring with you for this experience? I'm going to
- 36:31Speaker 2: bring my spouse, my wife. Yeah, your wife too young. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 36:34Speaker 2: She will love it, I think. Yeah.
- 36:36Speaker 1: It's gonna be date night for you and your wife.
- 36:38Speaker 2: I love that. So make sure you're free on the
- 36:39Speaker 2: 4th of August and we'll see you there. Um, if
- 36:42Speaker 2: you would like as well, you can follow them on
- 36:44Speaker 2: socials
- 36:45Speaker 1: over at SRT.com.sg. The full details are over there for you.
