- 0:01Speaker 1: Hey, Harold, have you thought about what kind of person
- 0:04Speaker 1: you want to marry?
- 0:08Speaker 2: Is it my imagination or is Joyce mad at you?
- 0:12Speaker 3: I thought for sure Cyrus would see you hiding it
- 0:15Speaker 3: in your pocket when you were standing right in front
- 0:17Speaker 3: of him. I, Miss Jean, join me on a trip
- 0:28Speaker 3: to Discovery Mountain, where the air is clear, clear.
- 0:32Speaker 4: Enough to hear your imagination, and where every day is
- 0:36Speaker 4: an exercise in faith. Join me for today's expedition. Camp
- 0:52Speaker 4: got off to a great start this morning. After breakfast
- 0:56Speaker 4: and flag raising, everyone gathered on the field for a
- 0:59Speaker 4: few hours of group games and yes using the new
- 1:04Speaker 4: Ropes course. After an almost perfect morning, everyone headed to
- 1:08Speaker 4: the cafeteria to have tacos for lunch.
- 1:11Speaker 5: Yum.
- 1:13Speaker 4: The morning was almost perfect because a few things didn't
- 1:16Speaker 4: go as smoothly as they should have. Lowly is still
- 1:20Speaker 4: upset with Jackson for breaking her teacup. She wasn't a
- 1:25Speaker 4: very good sport when she discovered he was on her
- 1:27Speaker 4: frisbee golf team and Joyce Holt led the scavenger hunt,
- 1:32Speaker 4: but her push to be the perfect camp director is
- 1:36Speaker 4: wearing her out and making her a little irritable. Hattie
- 1:41Speaker 4: loved organizing the ropes course activity with James, but she's
- 1:45Speaker 4: beginning to wonder why he won't use some of his
- 1:47Speaker 4: time and enthusiasm to help her with her lemonade challenge activity.
- 1:53Speaker 5: And then there's Hugo.
- 1:55Speaker 4: He and Jackson had a blast playing games all but
- 2:01Speaker 4: they were also distracted, distracted by something that Hugo is
- 2:06Speaker 4: carrying around, wondering what it is. Then join me on
- 2:10Speaker 4: the latest expedition to Discovery Mountain in today's episode called Glued.
- 2:15Speaker 6: Together, Addison, Are James and Miss Hattie really dating? Well,
- 2:21Speaker 6: they're courting Piper, which is the type of dating.
- 2:24Speaker 3: Why because they don't look like they're dating, or like
- 2:27Speaker 3: they even like each other right now?
- 2:29Speaker 7: Oh yeah, I see that they're just acting normal.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Piper. Please, I'm trying to eat.
- 2:37Speaker 8: I don't want to talk about miss Hattie and her boyfriend.
- 2:40Speaker 6: Uugh, Well, Lily, there's nothing much else to talk about.
- 2:44Speaker 2: Good, So they don't like each other.
- 2:46Speaker 5: After all, of course they like each other.
- 2:49Speaker 6: I mean that's good. They're just acting appropriately. Honestly, it's
- 2:53Speaker 6: pretty refreshing.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Double good. Now, let's enjoy your tacos. Alright, tacos.
- 3:00Speaker 4: As Joyce passed James's table, he tried to get his
- 3:03Speaker 4: sister's attention.
- 3:05Speaker 9: Hey, Joyce, coming sit with Hattie and me? No, thanks, James,
- 3:10Speaker 9: I have to get back to my office.
- 3:12Speaker 2: The job of camp director is harder than it looks,
- 3:14Speaker 2: you know, is my imagination? Or is Joyce mad at you?
- 3:21Speaker 10: No?
- 3:22Speaker 9: I don't think so. I haven't done anything.
- 3:25Speaker 2: You don't suppose she's mad at us?
- 3:28Speaker 9: Do you us? Why would she be mad at us? Oh?
- 3:32Speaker 2: I don't know. Is it possible she doesn't like the
- 3:34Speaker 2: idea of us being together?
- 3:36Speaker 11: No way, She's just probably tired. She has been working
- 3:40Speaker 11: a lot, hardly, atly going the extra extra mile.
- 3:45Speaker 2: M Yeah, maybe you think I'm wrong. Well, I think we.
- 3:49Speaker 12: Should talk to her. After all, court sheep involves the
- 3:52Speaker 12: whole family. It matters what she thinks.
- 3:55Speaker 11: You're right, If my sister has any issues with our relationship,
- 3:59Speaker 11: you need to talk to her.
- 4:00Speaker 2: I'm more important than we need to be willing to
- 4:02Speaker 2: listen to her.
- 4:03Speaker 9: I'll talk to Joyce.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Thanks, James.
- 4:07Speaker 5: And over at the podcasting table.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Harold, don't forget to bring the camera and microphone to
- 4:13Speaker 1: the drama tent. Mister Garcia said, we can do the
- 4:16Speaker 1: interview there after everyone's gone.
- 4:18Speaker 13: I can't believe mister Simon agreed to this.
- 4:20Speaker 1: You thought he'd be too busy to sit for an interview.
- 4:23Speaker 14: No, I mean, why would mister Simon talk about this stuff?
- 4:26Speaker 14: And why are we making a podcast about it?
- 4:29Speaker 1: Do I need to explain it again?
- 4:31Speaker 13: You could, but it still wouldn't make any sense.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Harold Peabody, You's a most annoying person I.
- 4:37Speaker 13: Know, Janet Beckman, Sometimes the feeling is mutual.
- 4:45Speaker 10: Okay, guys, make sure to clear all your dishes. Luke,
- 4:48Speaker 10: you forgot your juice glass after breakfast this morning.
- 4:51Speaker 15: Sorry, Counselor Cyrus.
- 4:54Speaker 3: Hugo, how's it doing?
- 4:56Speaker 9: How's what doing?
- 4:58Speaker 3: You know what?
- 4:59Speaker 2: I thought?
- 4:59Speaker 3: For or Sarrus would see you hiding it in your
- 5:02Speaker 3: pocket when you were standing right in front of him.
- 5:05Speaker 16: He was too focused on choosing taco fillings.
- 5:08Speaker 3: I worried the most during all those group games. Are
- 5:11Speaker 3: you sure it's still okay?
- 5:13Speaker 16: Stop worrying, Jackson. I'm being real careful.
- 5:18Speaker 3: I thought for sure you were gonna lose it in
- 5:20Speaker 3: the crab walk.
- 5:22Speaker 16: Well, good thing I brought these cargo pants to camp.
- 5:24Speaker 9: Pockets are Weightyep.
- 5:26Speaker 3: You're sure garter snakes aren't poisonous? Right?
- 5:30Speaker 16: Hey? I wouldn't have one in my cargo pants pocket
- 5:32Speaker 16: if they were poisonous.
- 5:34Speaker 3: Okay, keep catching crickets and worms for her. You're lucky.
- 5:38Speaker 3: Garter snakes will read almost anything.
- 5:41Speaker 16: Yep, So what's the plan?
- 5:44Speaker 3: Are you going to let the snake go at some point?
- 5:47Speaker 16: Maybe I'm just waiting for the right moment.
- 5:52Speaker 10: Ky Camper's time for the craft activity?
- 5:55Speaker 3: Uh crash, you worry?
- 5:59Speaker 16: Lilies, still mad at you for breaking your teacup.
- 6:02Speaker 3: It isn't funny, Hugo. The kid's kind of scary, Addison.
- 6:09Speaker 1: What am I even supposed to do at crafts today?
- 6:12Speaker 1: My teacup's broken?
- 6:13Speaker 6: Remember, Oh just wait and see, Lily. I'm sure miss
- 6:17Speaker 6: Hattie will have something worked out for you.
- 6:18Speaker 8: Oh yeah, look it's on the table, still broken.
- 6:23Speaker 12: Welcome back, campers, Take your seats and settle down. Well,
- 6:27Speaker 12: I explain what we're gonna do today.
- 6:29Speaker 1: But I can't do anything.
- 6:31Speaker 2: That's not true, Lily, What do you mean.
- 6:33Speaker 1: It's not true? My teacup is still broken.
- 6:37Speaker 3: It's not my fault. Kid, you were in my way.
- 6:40Speaker 12: Stop calling me kid Jackson. Lily, Please take a seat.
- 6:45Speaker 12: It's time for our listening years.
- 6:47Speaker 9: Ugh.
- 6:47Speaker 3: Yes, Miss Hattie.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Yes, Miss Hattie.
- 6:51Speaker 12: Now you all have teacups in front of you, and
- 6:53Speaker 12: today we're gonna finish painting them.
- 6:55Speaker 8: So miss Hattie, do I pant a cup that's in
- 6:58Speaker 8: five different pieces?
- 7:00Speaker 12: Yes, Lily, that's exactly what you do. But it'll be
- 7:03Speaker 12: a bit harder, but I know you can do it.
- 7:05Speaker 12: And the rest of you brush off your cups and
- 7:07Speaker 12: make sure they're as clean as possible.
- 7:10Speaker 2: Just try it, Lily.
- 7:11Speaker 15: It's like painting your own jigsaw puzzle.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Piper's right.
- 7:14Speaker 6: You like puzzles, don't you, Lily, Yeah, so why don't
- 7:18Speaker 6: you give it a try?
- 7:20Speaker 12: All right, campers, make sure you don't use too much paint,
- 7:24Speaker 12: keep it thin because we want the cups to dry quickly.
- 7:27Speaker 8: I'd have to make sure the patterns are lined up,
- 7:31Speaker 8: or maybe I could paint each piece in a different color.
- 7:36Speaker 12: When you finish, put your cup on the table, that
- 7:38Speaker 12: table with the fans on it. Yes, the fans will
- 7:41Speaker 12: dry the pottery before our break is over, and then
- 7:44Speaker 12: we can move on to the next step.
- 7:47Speaker 4: For the next twenty minutes, the craft's tent was filled
- 7:50Speaker 4: with activity and giggles and the occasional spilled pot of paint. Finally,
- 7:56Speaker 4: everyone's teacup, including the five pieces of lily cup, was
- 8:00Speaker 4: on the table drying under the fans. The campers had
- 8:04Speaker 4: just enough time for a snack and a quick game
- 8:07Speaker 4: of tag before Hattie called them back inside.
- 8:11Speaker 2: Okay, do you all have your cups now?
- 8:13Speaker 9: Yep?
- 8:14Speaker 3: Sure do?
- 8:14Speaker 2: Yes, I do. What's the next step?
- 8:17Speaker 12: The next step is to put your cup inside the
- 8:20Speaker 12: ziploc bag in front of.
- 8:21Speaker 1: You, Miss Hattie, I don't have a bag.
- 8:25Speaker 2: I know, Lily. Just wait a minute.
- 8:27Speaker 15: Okay, mine's in the bag. What do we do? Now?
- 8:30Speaker 2: Hold the bags as high as you can, Hattie.
- 8:36Speaker 6: We made ceramic bowls in seventh grade art class, and
- 8:39Speaker 6: I do not remember doing this step.
- 8:42Speaker 15: How long do we have to hold them up?
- 8:44Speaker 2: Everyone watched me, and I'm going to count to three
- 8:47Speaker 2: and then what?
- 8:48Speaker 1: Then?
- 8:49Speaker 2: You drop your teacups?
- 8:52Speaker 4: They drop their teacups, the cups they had spent so
- 8:56Speaker 4: much time shaping and painting.
- 8:58Speaker 5: What is Hattie thinking? We'll find out?
- 9:02Speaker 4: Right after this, Hattie told the campers to put their
- 9:06Speaker 4: pottery teacups in a zip lock bag and then drop them.
- 9:11Speaker 5: Why did you want them to do that?
- 9:13Speaker 4: Let's rejoin the craft activity and see if we can
- 9:16Speaker 4: figure it out.
- 9:18Speaker 3: Miss Hattie, you want us to drop our teacups.
- 9:21Speaker 2: Yes, Jackson, that's exactly what I want.
- 9:24Speaker 3: Why they'll break?
- 9:25Speaker 1: Yeah, like you broke my cup.
- 9:28Speaker 3: That was an accident. Kid, you were being careless.
- 9:31Speaker 1: If I'm not a.
- 9:32Speaker 12: Kid, Campers, now listen to me. If you'll just do
- 9:35Speaker 12: what I say, you'll be glad about it in the end.
- 9:38Speaker 15: Promise I worked really hard on my cup.
- 9:41Speaker 12: I promise, Piper, your cup will be beautiful and you're
- 9:44Speaker 12: gonna learn a beautiful lesson about God too.
- 9:46Speaker 2: Now let's try this again. Everybody ready, Here.
- 9:50Speaker 12: We go, one, two, three.
- 9:57Speaker 15: Oh no, my cup broke into like eight pieces.
- 10:01Speaker 3: Mind broken to five, same as Lily's.
- 10:04Speaker 15: My cups and six pieces.
- 10:06Speaker 16: Hey, Jackson, that was really loud. Do you think it's
- 10:10Speaker 16: scared of the snake?
- 10:11Speaker 3: I doubt it. Snakes don't have external ears. What they
- 10:15Speaker 3: can sense certain low frequency sounds, but mostly detect vibrations
- 10:20Speaker 3: through their inner ear and jab On.
- 10:21Speaker 16: Man, snakes are weirder than I thought.
- 10:25Speaker 6: Okay, Hattie, I can see where you had us put
- 10:27Speaker 6: our cups into bags so the pieces wouldn't fly everywhere.
- 10:30Speaker 10: Addison, the question is why do we have to break
- 10:32Speaker 10: them in the first place?
- 10:33Speaker 17: They're ruined.
- 10:34Speaker 2: Now they're not ruined, Cyrus.
- 10:37Speaker 10: You might as well just throw them out.
- 10:40Speaker 2: Don't, because we're about to repair the damage.
- 10:42Speaker 10: You had us break our teacups just so we could
- 10:45Speaker 10: repair them.
- 10:46Speaker 12: Yeah, it sounds kind of silly when you say it
- 10:48Speaker 12: that way, doesn't it. But yes, so we're just gonna
- 10:53Speaker 12: glue the pieces back together now.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Yes, and they're gonna be more beautiful than ever. But
- 10:58Speaker 2: how let me show you? Look at this cup? WHOA, Wow,
- 11:04Speaker 2: that's so pretty.
- 11:06Speaker 15: I love the silver lines in the design.
- 11:08Speaker 2: Would you believe that I broke this cup last night?
- 11:12Speaker 1: No way.
- 11:14Speaker 12: You can repair broken pottery with colored glue and make
- 11:18Speaker 12: it look beautiful.
- 11:19Speaker 15: Those wavy lines in the cup of real silver.
- 11:22Speaker 12: No, but it almost looks like it. Watch as I
- 11:25Speaker 12: show you. You take epoxy glue mixed with a powdered paint.
- 11:30Speaker 12: I use silver, but you could use purple or blue
- 11:33Speaker 12: or whatever you like.
- 11:35Speaker 1: And that's what we're gonna use too.
- 11:37Speaker 17: Yes.
- 11:38Speaker 15: Can we start right now?
- 11:40Speaker 2: Wait, miss Hattie, you said we were going to learn
- 11:42Speaker 2: a lesson about God? Right?
- 11:44Speaker 12: Do you ever feel like you're broken? Kind of like
- 11:47Speaker 12: this pottery? Well, God glues us back together, no matter
- 11:54Speaker 12: how broken or imperfect, we feel he does. Yes, sixty one,
- 12:00Speaker 12: Verse one says he sent me to bind up the
- 12:03Speaker 12: broken hearted.
- 12:05Speaker 1: I don't get it well.
- 12:07Speaker 12: When our hearts are hurting and we feel broken, God
- 12:11Speaker 12: doesn't throw us away. He puts the broken pieces of
- 12:14Speaker 12: our lives back together, and he makes us into something
- 12:18Speaker 12: even more useful and more beautiful than before.
- 12:22Speaker 10: That versus in Isaiah was a prophecy about Jesus, wasn't it.
- 12:26Speaker 17: Yes?
- 12:27Speaker 12: And once God has repaired us, we can each help
- 12:30Speaker 12: someone else who's broken hearted by telling him about Jesus.
- 12:34Speaker 15: And they can feel whole again too.
- 12:36Speaker 12: Yes, that's why I didn't throw away Lily's cup or
- 12:40Speaker 12: remake it.
- 12:41Speaker 3: Oh, so you all have me to think.
- 12:44Speaker 8: Jack Sackson, Jackson, don't you dare take credit for all
- 12:48Speaker 8: this good stuff?
- 12:49Speaker 17: Now?
- 12:49Speaker 3: Kidding?
- 12:50Speaker 2: I was kidding, Miss Hattie.
- 12:53Speaker 1: Can you show us how to make our cups beautiful again?
- 12:56Speaker 2: Yes?
- 12:57Speaker 12: Come on, let's get the epoxy glue ready. Okay all,
- 13:00Speaker 12: look at the table in front of you. You'll see
- 13:02Speaker 12: little cups for mixing the dry paint powder. Really, your
- 13:05Speaker 12: broken cup instarted the best craft yet?
- 13:08Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah, I guess it did.
- 13:10Speaker 2: I'm going to make my glue pink.
- 13:12Speaker 8: How about you, I'm gonna go with red Lava red.
- 13:18Speaker 4: The campers were fascinated with the process of repairing their pottery.
- 13:23Speaker 4: They gently sanded the sharp edges of the broken pieces
- 13:26Speaker 4: of their cups, filled in any chips on the surface,
- 13:30Speaker 4: mixed the glue and paint powder together, and carefully applied it.
- 13:35Speaker 5: Last.
- 13:35Speaker 4: They put their teacups on the drying table and headed
- 13:38Speaker 4: to their drama class. Hattie was cleaning up and getting
- 13:42Speaker 4: ready for the next day's class when she.
- 13:44Speaker 5: Heard a car pull up and park in front of
- 13:46Speaker 5: the craft tin.
- 13:57Speaker 7: Hi, Hattie, I'm making my daily snack run.
- 14:00Speaker 2: Michelle, I can't believe you can't buy again.
- 14:02Speaker 18: Well, I needed someone to taste test a new summer
- 14:05Speaker 18: muffin recipe.
- 14:06Speaker 12: Ooh, well, I'll happily be your taste tester no matter
- 14:09Speaker 12: the season. Hm.
- 14:13Speaker 2: Oh, that's so good. There's just the right pop of lemon.
- 14:17Speaker 7: Thanks.
- 14:18Speaker 18: I also wanted to see how you were doing. But
- 14:21Speaker 18: judging from the fact that you're not crying, I guess
- 14:23Speaker 18: you had a better day today.
- 14:25Speaker 2: Yes I did.
- 14:26Speaker 12: The kids were so shocked when I had them break
- 14:29Speaker 12: their teacups.
- 14:30Speaker 7: I'm sure they were.
- 14:31Speaker 12: They really loved bring the pottery back together. But I'm
- 14:35Speaker 12: not sure they really got the idea that God does
- 14:37Speaker 12: that for us too.
- 14:38Speaker 7: Hattie, your job is just to plant the seeds.
- 14:41Speaker 2: I feel like you got to have explained it better.
- 14:43Speaker 2: You're such a good storyteller. Michelle me.
- 14:46Speaker 7: Oh, no, Hattie, I'm sure that you did a wonderful job.
- 14:49Speaker 2: Well, I hope so.
- 14:51Speaker 7: Was James able to help you today like you'd hoped?
- 14:53Speaker 2: No, he's too busy, at least he said he was.
- 14:57Speaker 16: Uh.
- 14:57Speaker 18: Oh, is your courtship hitting a snag? Did you get
- 15:00Speaker 18: to talk yesterday?
- 15:02Speaker 1: Yes?
- 15:02Speaker 12: We did, and it turns out we both have almost
- 15:04Speaker 12: identical priorities for our future, faith exercises and life.
- 15:09Speaker 7: Well that's great. So what's the hesitation?
- 15:12Speaker 12: Well, we both want someone who will support our life
- 15:15Speaker 12: goals and our spiritual growth.
- 15:17Speaker 7: I'm still not seeing a problem here.
- 15:19Speaker 12: Well, if James really supported my goals, wouldn't you find
- 15:22Speaker 12: the time to be here when I need him?
- 15:24Speaker 7: I see your point.
- 15:26Speaker 2: And then there was lunch.
- 15:27Speaker 7: What went wrong at lunch?
- 15:29Speaker 2: Michelle? He put Relish in his tacos. That's sort of quirk.
- 15:35Speaker 2: I am not sure I can live with.
- 15:37Speaker 18: Oh, Hattie, Relish on a taco that's a pretty innocent quirk.
- 15:42Speaker 12: No, what relish in tacos could be a real problem
- 15:45Speaker 12: only if you let it.
- 15:47Speaker 18: Trust me, Hattie, I've been married and things didn't work
- 15:49Speaker 18: out as planned.
- 15:51Speaker 2: So what do you think I should do about the
- 15:52Speaker 2: relish thing?
- 15:53Speaker 18: Learn to work through these little things before they become
- 15:56Speaker 18: big things. Think of it as an opportunity, an opportunity
- 16:00Speaker 18: for what to practice patients and learn how to be
- 16:03Speaker 18: a good listener.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Being patient is tough. What happens if I just can't
- 16:09Speaker 2: do it well?
- 16:10Speaker 7: You won't relish being in that situation.
- 16:15Speaker 2: Oh, Michelle, I really needed that laugh. Come on, let
- 16:19Speaker 2: me show you the campus Potteryard.
- 16:22Speaker 4: I wonder how things are going in the drama tent today.
- 16:25Speaker 4: Let's find out right after this.
- 16:30Speaker 1: Hey, Harold, did you remember ques Jenet?
- 16:32Speaker 14: I remembered to bring the camera and the microphone. I
- 16:35Speaker 14: told you i'd remember. Oh no, what I was so
- 16:41Speaker 14: focused on remembering the camera, I forgot my script.
- 16:45Speaker 13: I'll be right back.
- 16:48Speaker 3: Come on, you go. Why won't you tell me who
- 16:51Speaker 3: you're going to prank with the snake? Cyrus Chaplin?
- 16:54Speaker 9: Jake?
- 16:55Speaker 3: Oh hey, are you going to put it in one
- 16:58Speaker 3: of the girl's cabins.
- 17:00Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 17:00Speaker 13: I haven't decided.
- 17:02Speaker 3: Well, you'll have to come up with a plan pretty soon.
- 17:05Speaker 3: There's only a few more days of camp.
- 17:07Speaker 16: I like having her in my pocket and almost forget
- 17:10Speaker 16: she's there because she hardly moves, doesn't eat much.
- 17:13Speaker 3: Either hardly moves or eat. I hope she's not sick.
- 17:18Speaker 16: Nah, she's just a good little snake. Or I guess
- 17:22Speaker 16: she's really.
- 17:23Speaker 9: A good big snake.
- 17:24Speaker 16: Since she's kind of chunkie, I'm thinking of keeping her.
- 17:28Speaker 3: Keeping her. You don't know anything about keeping snakes. You
- 17:32Speaker 3: didn't even know what kind of snake it was. I've
- 17:35Speaker 3: had to tell you everything.
- 17:37Speaker 16: And I can always call my bluddy Jackson if I
- 17:39Speaker 16: have any more questions. Now we better get inside.
- 17:44Speaker 4: The camper's got right to work, and mister Garcia was
- 17:47Speaker 4: pleased with how well the rehearsal was going. Most of
- 17:51Speaker 4: them had the scripts memorized or at least mostly memorized,
- 17:55Speaker 4: and knew when to come on stage and where to stand.
- 17:58Speaker 5: But toward the end of practice things hit us snag.
- 18:03Speaker 17: Congratulations everyone, our first dress rehearsal is coming right up,
- 18:07Speaker 17: and it looks like you'll be ready. Great job on
- 18:10Speaker 17: the narration.
- 18:10Speaker 2: Brianna, thanks, mister Garcia.
- 18:13Speaker 17: Hugo, how are you doing in there?
- 18:15Speaker 16: Okay, Uncle Ethan, but it gets hot?
- 18:18Speaker 17: Listen, can you cut back on the camels? Are you twitching?
- 18:21Speaker 16: But it's fun?
- 18:23Speaker 17: Constant twitching is too distracting? Just an occasional twitch. Okay,
- 18:28Speaker 17: mister Garcia. I have a problem. What's that logan?
- 18:33Speaker 19: I know my part, but I mean I still don't
- 18:36Speaker 19: understand it. How could a Liezer be so focused on
- 18:40Speaker 19: finding the perfect wife for Isaac when Isaac's the one
- 18:43Speaker 19: living the life a Liezer thought he was gonna have.
- 18:45Speaker 14: I don't understand why Isaac let Elias are Go pick
- 18:48Speaker 14: out his wife for him in the first place.
- 18:52Speaker 17: Well, you have to realize.
- 18:54Speaker 1: What about Rebecca? How am I supposed to play a
- 18:56Speaker 1: person who'd go off with complete stranger to marry some
- 19:01Speaker 1: man she's never met before.
- 19:02Speaker 17: In those days, Jennet By play in Rebecca's brother Laban.
- 19:06Speaker 10: He seems awfully eager to get rid of his sister
- 19:08Speaker 10: in exchange for some fancy gifts.
- 19:10Speaker 8: But Cyrus, why do I have to play one of
- 19:13Speaker 8: Rebecca's friends? All they do is giggle and tell her
- 19:16Speaker 8: how blessed she is to be marrying such a wealthy man.
- 19:20Speaker 3: I think I'd be way more excited if us camel
- 19:23Speaker 3: drivers got to fight off a bunch of bandits.
- 19:26Speaker 13: Yeah, a battle scene.
- 19:28Speaker 17: There are no battle scenes?
- 19:34Speaker 20: Hey, campers, Now, what's going on here?
- 19:39Speaker 17: Mister Simon? And am I glad to see you?
- 19:43Speaker 2: Hi?
- 19:43Speaker 7: Granddad?
- 19:44Speaker 3: You here for your interview with Harold and Jennet?
- 19:47Speaker 20: Indeed I am, But unless I'm mistaken, drama class isn't
- 19:52Speaker 20: going very well today.
- 19:54Speaker 17: Let's just say my actors are having a hard time
- 19:56Speaker 17: understanding their characters.
- 19:58Speaker 20: Or perhaps a don't understand the story.
- 20:01Speaker 17: Well enough, mister Simon, that's brilliant. Okay, campers, Tomorrow we're
- 20:07Speaker 17: going to do what I should have done at the
- 20:09Speaker 17: very beginning.
- 20:10Speaker 1: See you then, mister Simon, give Harold and me a
- 20:17Speaker 1: minute to set up the camera.
- 20:18Speaker 12: Okay, Okay, Jenet take your time, Grandad, can you stay
- 20:23Speaker 12: for supper after you're done?
- 20:26Speaker 20: Sorry, Natasha, I'm meeting with James.
- 20:30Speaker 12: Oh okay, I have got to figure out what's going
- 20:34Speaker 12: on with those two.
- 20:36Speaker 14: All right, mister Simon, all set, okay, Harold, make sure
- 20:39Speaker 14: you get my best side. I'll do my best And
- 20:44Speaker 14: just so you know, this whole interview was Jennet's idea.
- 20:47Speaker 1: I heard that, Harold.
- 20:48Speaker 20: Oops, Natasha said you wanted to talk about marriage, Janet
- 20:52Speaker 20: and love.
- 20:54Speaker 1: Harold, just pay attention to your job.
- 20:57Speaker 13: Are you ready? Yes, Ready and action.
- 21:02Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to another episode of Mountain Mysteries. I'm
- 21:06Speaker 1: Jennet Beckman, and I'm here today with cameraman Harold Peabody.
- 21:10Speaker 3: Hello.
- 21:11Speaker 1: We're here today to discuss the mystery of love and marriage,
- 21:14Speaker 1: and our guest is mister George Simon, proprietor of Trekkers
- 21:18Speaker 1: and mayor of Discovery Mountain.
- 21:20Speaker 20: Hello.
- 21:21Speaker 1: Everyone, mister Simon. The kids at Discovery Mountain summer camp
- 21:25Speaker 1: learning about the story of Isaac and Rebecca in the Bible.
- 21:28Speaker 1: Are you familiar with it?
- 21:30Speaker 20: Yes, quite familiar. Abraham sent his faithful servant Eliezer to
- 21:35Speaker 20: find a wife for his son Isaac, and God led
- 21:39Speaker 20: Eliezer to Rebecca.
- 21:41Speaker 1: And that's precisely the mystery we want to discuss today.
- 21:45Speaker 1: How could you let someone else pick out your husband
- 21:47Speaker 1: or wife? And the reason you're our guest today is
- 21:50Speaker 1: because a rumor concerning your marriage recently came to our attention.
- 21:54Speaker 1: Oh yes, you see, someone told this reporter that you
- 21:59Speaker 1: said your marriage was arranged.
- 22:02Speaker 20: Well, that's true, it was. Yes, it was arranged by
- 22:06Speaker 20: my father. But let me explain. One of my best
- 22:12Speaker 20: friends in academy was Donna Watson. Our group of friends
- 22:16Speaker 20: did everything together.
- 22:19Speaker 13: Hey, that's like our group.
- 22:21Speaker 20: Donna and I ended up at the same college where
- 22:23Speaker 20: we studied together, hiked together, we let a student Bible
- 22:27Speaker 20: study together.
- 22:29Speaker 1: And that's how you fell in love.
- 22:31Speaker 20: No, it's embarrassing to admit now, but I had my
- 22:34Speaker 20: eye on a different young lady. What changed I did
- 22:39Speaker 20: over the next year and a half got opened my
- 22:41Speaker 20: eyes to how Donna had all the qualities mentioned in
- 22:45Speaker 20: the Love chapter of the Bible.
- 22:47Speaker 2: The Love chapter.
- 22:49Speaker 20: PRIs Corinthia's thirteen. It's often read at weddings.
- 22:53Speaker 1: What does it say?
- 22:54Speaker 20: I can't quote the whole chapter, but it says love
- 22:57Speaker 20: is patient and kind, isn't proud or selfish, doesn't get
- 23:03Speaker 20: angry really easy, or demand its own way. It protects
- 23:08Speaker 20: trusts and is loyal.
- 23:10Speaker 1: And that's what Donna was like.
- 23:12Speaker 20: Yes she was. And God kept arranging for Donna and
- 23:15Speaker 20: me to be on the same committees, in the same
- 23:19Speaker 20: classes and study groups. It was as if He glued
- 23:23Speaker 20: us together.
- 23:24Speaker 1: But how did your father? Oh, I get it. Your
- 23:28Speaker 1: heavenly father arranged your marriage.
- 23:31Speaker 20: That's right, Jenet, and I think everyone should let God
- 23:35Speaker 20: do their matchmaking.
- 23:37Speaker 1: Well, folks, you just heard it for yourselves. Mister Simon
- 23:41Speaker 1: did have an arranged marriage. Tune in next time for
- 23:45Speaker 1: another exciting episode of Mountain Mysteries.
- 23:49Speaker 13: That's a rap.
- 23:51Speaker 1: Thanks for bring our guests today, mister Simon, anytime.
- 23:54Speaker 20: Jennett, Well, I'd better go try and find James now.
- 23:58Speaker 5: Bye bye.
- 24:03Speaker 1: Hey, Harold, have you thought about what kind of person
- 24:06Speaker 1: you want to marry?
- 24:08Speaker 14: What are you talking about? We're way too young to
- 24:10Speaker 14: be thinking about stuff like that.
- 24:12Speaker 1: Not necessarily. In Ethiopia, my people have the youngest average
- 24:17Speaker 1: marriage age, like fourteen or fifteen.
- 24:20Speaker 13: You mean, if you are still there, you might already
- 24:22Speaker 13: be married.
- 24:23Speaker 1: It's possible.
- 24:25Speaker 13: I just remembered Logan's waiting for me at the archery range.
- 24:27Speaker 13: I'd better hurry.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Okay, note to self, talk to your other friends about
- 24:36Speaker 1: this stuff. Harold is definitely not ready.
- 24:40Speaker 4: Jennet and Harold may have solved the mystery of mister
- 24:43Speaker 4: Simon's arranged marriage, but there are still some questions, aren't there?
- 24:48Speaker 21: Director Doug, Yes, like Hattie and James Hattie has a
- 24:52Speaker 21: lot of concerns.
- 24:53Speaker 4: Yes, And what's Hugo going to do with the snake?
- 24:57Speaker 4: I hope he listens to Jackson and lets it go.
- 25:00Speaker 21: Oh yeah, just at the right time and place.
- 25:04Speaker 5: Definitely. And what about Hattie's craft class?
- 25:07Speaker 21: We'll fixing the pottery was really interesting. It does illustrate
- 25:11Speaker 21: the beautiful message that God puts her broken pieces back
- 25:14Speaker 21: together and makes our lives more beautiful than ever.
- 25:17Speaker 4: Yes, I love the verse she used Isaiah sixty one
- 25:20Speaker 4: to one about how Jesus was sent to bind up
- 25:23Speaker 4: the brokenhearted.
- 25:25Speaker 13: That's a wonderful promise, listeners.
- 25:27Speaker 4: Let's exercise our faith this week, my following the Love
- 25:31Speaker 4: chapter and being kind, patient, unselfish, and slow to get angry.
