Transcript
- 0:14Speaker 1: You're telling me out of the entire SEC and Big
- 0:17Speaker 1: Ten combined, there's one undefeated team left. And that one
- 0:21Speaker 1: undefeated team is UCLA. They told me stories about 2007. Actually,
- 0:25Speaker 1: they didn't need to. I lived through it, but I
- 0:27Speaker 1: know a lot of you didn't. But you better start
- 0:29Speaker 1: believing in 2007 seasons because I'm pretty sure you're in one.
- 0:32Speaker 1: We're jam-packed. We're high atop a very, very rattled, unsure-of-itself
- 0:37Speaker 1: downtown Nashville, Tennessee on this Sunday, October 18th, the year
- 0:40Speaker 1: of our Lord, 2026. It was a Saturday for the ages.
- 0:45Speaker 1: I'm going to open the show in a very, very
- 0:46Speaker 1: uncharacteristic way. I'm going to talk about the day at
- 0:49Speaker 1: large instead of a specific game. The AP poll is
- 0:52Speaker 1: on fire. Officiating needs to be set on fire. All
- 0:56Speaker 1: that plus a very, very special and close to my
- 0:59Speaker 1: heart announcement about the Week 8 Don't Tread on Saturday tour.
- 1:03Speaker 1: I've got to get into the show. We have no
- 1:05Speaker 1: time to waste. This could go nine hours tonight. We
- 1:08Speaker 1: should raise money for a good cause and open a
- 1:10Speaker 1: phone bank and just do a telethon. on tonight's show.
- 1:13Speaker 1: They're watching us in Morristown, Tennessee, Corvallis, Oregon, Tampa, Florida, Sugarland, Texas.
- 1:18Speaker 1: What is it, Jesse? You look like you have your
- 1:20Speaker 1: hand on your button. Oh, I thought you were ready
- 1:22Speaker 1: to say something to me. Oh, you want me to
- 1:25Speaker 1: tell them to subscribe to the channel? We're very close. Actually,
- 1:28Speaker 1: we're four subs away from 586,000, so we should get
- 1:32Speaker 1: that knocked out of the way in just a matter
- 1:33Speaker 1: of seconds. We are on the road to 600K, though.
- 1:36Speaker 1: And I need you to, I don't need you to,
- 1:38Speaker 1: I really, really strongly urge you to subscribe to the
- 1:41Speaker 1: channel because we are rolling. We've had like several thousand
- 1:43Speaker 1: just in the last 24 hours. Appreciate you guys for that.
- 1:46Speaker 1: But this is no night to beg. This is a
- 1:48Speaker 1: night to, I don't know that I've ever used this
- 1:52Speaker 1: word on the show, revel in what we just saw yesterday.
- 1:55Speaker 1: I think we're coming off the wildest Saturday in the
- 1:58Speaker 1: modern college football era. While everyone was busy complaining about
- 2:02Speaker 1: college football playoff expansion, me included, we had a Saturday
- 2:06Speaker 1: for the ages just unfold right before us. And the
- 2:08Speaker 1: bad faith actors out there wanted to talk about how
- 2:10Speaker 1: much it would or wouldn't matter in the future. Hey,
- 2:13Speaker 1: don't be miserable. Just enjoy it. Just enjoy it for
- 2:17Speaker 1: what it is. Many of you out there are in
- 2:19Speaker 1: high school. or college, or you're fresh out of college,
- 2:23Speaker 1: and you don't really remember a whole lot about 2007.
- 2:26Speaker 1: A lot of you are 50 years old, and you
- 2:28Speaker 1: don't realize that we've got full-grown adults that don't really
- 2:31Speaker 1: fully recall what 2007 in the United States of America
- 2:33Speaker 1: was like. Time slips up on you like that. In
- 2:36Speaker 1: the world of college football, people speak about 2007 with
- 2:40Speaker 1: a kind of reverence that's hard to understand if you
- 2:43Speaker 1: didn't live through it. But if you lived through yesterday,
- 2:45Speaker 1: and I know anyone who's able to watch this show
- 2:47Speaker 1: lived through yesterday, that's a small taste of what 2007
- 2:52Speaker 1: was like. In fact, Jesse, yesterday was a little crazier
- 2:58Speaker 1: than 2007. It's just that if you take what happened
- 3:01Speaker 1: yesterday and spread it over several weeks, that's what 2007
- 3:04Speaker 1: was like. But buddy, this is a paper popper. Five
- 3:06Speaker 1: of the top seven lost yesterday. That's never happened. We've
- 3:10Speaker 1: done the AP poll. Excuse me, they have done the
- 3:14Speaker 1: AP poll since 1936, and it's never happened. And what
- 3:19Speaker 1: happens on a day like that is it shakes your
- 3:22Speaker 1: entire belief system. I know how you felt last night.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Some of you suffered yesterday. Some of your teams fell.
- 3:28Speaker 1: And for you, I apologize. I hate that had to
- 3:31Speaker 1: happen to you. For others, like we got Auburn fans
- 3:33Speaker 1: watching tonight. You got a whole new lease on life.
- 3:36Speaker 1: Tennessee fans is like, man, I love this. Give me
- 3:38Speaker 1: more of this. UCLA fans have to be in heaven
- 3:42Speaker 1: right now. Like they're on an entirely different plane than
- 3:44Speaker 1: everyone else. But for those of you who were just
- 3:46Speaker 1: watching yesterday, days like yesterday happened to you. And they
- 3:52Speaker 1: shake your entire belief system. You don't know what to believe.
- 3:55Speaker 1: You don't know what just happened to you. You find
- 3:58Speaker 1: yourself sunk into a couch at like one o'clock in
- 4:02Speaker 1: the morning. Somehow, inexplicably, Nebraska and Oregon is still on.
- 4:07Speaker 1: So you're still watching the game. But you've got like
- 4:10Speaker 1: this terrible posture about yourself. You're slouched over. Your mouth's
- 4:13Speaker 1: hanging open. You're breathing through your mouth. And you don't
- 4:16Speaker 1: realize it unless someone points it out. But no one's
- 4:19Speaker 1: there to point it out. because you have asked to
- 4:21Speaker 1: be left alone because so much has happened and you
- 4:25Speaker 1: made so many definitive statements at work or at the
- 4:27Speaker 1: gym or with your buddies throughout the last few weeks
- 4:30Speaker 1: that are now crashing and burning all around you. And
- 4:33Speaker 1: I know that sounds terrible, but it's actually beautiful. That's
- 4:37Speaker 1: what college football is about at its core. Now, trying
- 4:41Speaker 1: to figure out the sport right now is like trying
- 4:44Speaker 1: to nail jello to the wall. There are no through lines.
- 4:47Speaker 1: There is no consistency. It's just like taking a deck
- 4:50Speaker 1: of cards and just scattering it in the air every week.
- 4:53Speaker 1: So yes, it can be maddening. Hey, imagine having a
- 4:56Speaker 1: show where you got to go public with your predictions
- 4:58Speaker 1: every week. It's a nightmare. And then they clip you
- 5:01Speaker 1: and they make graphics and edits. If I can bear it,
- 5:06Speaker 1: so can you, is what I'm trying to say. So yesterday,
- 5:09Speaker 1: I just wanted to walk through this with all of
- 5:12Speaker 1: us because this is going to be historical record, Jesse.
- 5:14Speaker 1: One day when we're long gone, the archaeologists... We'll dig
- 5:18Speaker 1: up evidence of October 17th, 2026. And I hope they
- 5:23Speaker 1: stumble upon this video. So yesterday, this thing starts in
- 5:27Speaker 1: the noon window Eastern. And you thought, slash I thought,
- 5:31Speaker 1: for a while, when we were up at Indiana, Prez
- 5:34Speaker 1: showed me the phone. He said, look at that. Texas
- 5:36Speaker 1: out to a 17-3 lead. And I'm like, good for Arch.
- 5:40Speaker 1: You know, it's probably not all fixed, but even Arch
- 5:43Speaker 1: can carve up that secondary. Nope. Nope. And then you
- 5:47Speaker 1: check again and hey man, Ohio state, Indiana, that's going
- 5:50Speaker 1: down in front of us. And then all of a
- 5:51Speaker 1: sudden I get texts saying, dude, Texas looks horrible. FYI,
- 5:55Speaker 1: one of their early touchdowns was a punt return. Arch
- 5:57Speaker 1: can't do anything. And then it starts to happen. And
- 6:00Speaker 1: then it unravels and then you see it go down
- 6:04Speaker 1: and Florida, it's not only going to be close. They
- 6:06Speaker 1: actually pull that thing out in Texas falls after leading
- 6:09Speaker 1: 17 to three And that's happening right smack dab about
- 6:12Speaker 1: the same time as Indiana having Marsh wide open in
- 6:15Speaker 1: the secondary. But he steps out of bounds. So you
- 6:18Speaker 1: got two banger endings right there. One of them's a
- 6:21Speaker 1: huge upset. One of them's just a great game. But
- 6:24Speaker 1: you can't tell if the theme has started yet. Because
- 6:27Speaker 1: upsets happen all the time. But an upset in isolation
- 6:30Speaker 1: is not a volcanic Saturday. But it's like a little
- 6:33Speaker 1: steam comes out of the top of the volcano. And
- 6:36Speaker 1: then the 330 window hits. And, buddy, that's when it
- 6:39Speaker 1: starts to turn loose a little bit because, once again,
- 6:41Speaker 1: we have this big favorite in Georgia. Like, Auburn-Georgia was
- 6:44Speaker 1: not even an on-the-radar game. We didn't do a breakdown
- 6:46Speaker 1: of it last week. We put in an upset alert, right, Jesse?
- 6:49Speaker 1: But that's only because of the schedule dynamics where we
- 6:52Speaker 1: knew Georgia was coming off the Bama game, playing their
- 6:54Speaker 1: seventh straight game, and Auburn was off a bye. So
- 6:57Speaker 1: you've at least got to mention it, but that's about
- 6:59Speaker 1: all we did is mention it. And then Georgia's out
- 7:02Speaker 1: 14-0 early. I guarantee you the portion of America that
- 7:05Speaker 1: was watching that game removed it from their radar screen
- 7:10Speaker 1: because they were watching Bama, Tennessee. And Bama, Tennessee ends
- 7:13Speaker 1: up being just total domination throughout the entire day. And
- 7:16Speaker 1: you're saying, oh, Tennessee settling for field goals. Are they
- 7:19Speaker 1: going to have to pay for that later? No, no.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Bama like never got off the bus. Actually, they got
- 7:25Speaker 1: stuffed in a closet, but it was bad. And so
- 7:29Speaker 1: that's happening. And you're kind of saying, wow. Wow. Is
- 7:33Speaker 1: this really just going to go wire to wire like this? Yes.
- 7:35Speaker 1: But then it's like, wait a second. I just saw
- 7:39Speaker 1: over here in the bottom right side of my second
- 7:42Speaker 1: quad box, is that score right? Has Auburn put up
- 7:46Speaker 1: 24 unanswered on Georgia? And then you flip back to that,
- 7:51Speaker 1: and it's like, oh, there's the Auburn turnover. What? What
- 7:55Speaker 1: did Georgia just do at midfield? Auburn's lined up for
- 7:58Speaker 1: a what? Game-winning field goal. Boom. Down goes Bama. Down
- 8:02Speaker 1: goes Georgia. And at that point, you can feel it.
- 8:05Speaker 1: That's a theme. That's not just isolated upset. That's a
- 8:08Speaker 1: theme starting to emerge. But that could just be an
- 8:11Speaker 1: SEC thing, right? But then you get into the primetime window.
- 8:15Speaker 1: One thing you learn about college football is if your
- 8:19Speaker 1: team is favored and playing at night, what you want
- 8:23Speaker 1: to avoid is you want to avoid seeing all this
- 8:26Speaker 1: catastrophe and disaster happen in the first two windows. Because
- 8:29Speaker 1: college football is not scripted, contrary to what certain people
- 8:33Speaker 1: will tell you. However, it does seem to follow themes
- 8:36Speaker 1: from time to time. And if you've got a volcanic
- 8:38Speaker 1: Saturday underway, the last thing you want to be is
- 8:41Speaker 1: Notre Dame favored by 10.5 on the road in Provo, Utah.
- 8:46Speaker 1: And there was Notre Dame. Favorite by 10.5 on the
- 8:49Speaker 1: road in Provo, Utah. And this was not favorite gets
- 8:52Speaker 1: out to a big lead and then underdog reels him
- 8:55Speaker 1: back in. This was Brigham Young owning the game most
- 8:59Speaker 1: of the way and Notre Dame trying to keep up.
- 9:02Speaker 1: And while that's going on, like there was an hour
- 9:05Speaker 1: and a half last night that was utterly insane because
- 9:08Speaker 1: you got Notre Dame, Brigham Young, and that's like an
- 9:11Speaker 1: upset beat brewing the entire way and then you got
- 9:14Speaker 1: Oklahoma State and Houston playing a borderline five childlike classic
- 9:19Speaker 1: and then you got Will Stein and Kentucky doing what
- 9:22Speaker 1: they do now that's just something Kentucky does with regularity
- 9:26Speaker 1: on the road at Oklahoma and all the while Kentucky
- 9:30Speaker 1: In true Auburn, Georgia vibes, you're figuring at least I
- 9:33Speaker 1: can take FSU Miami for granted. Nope. That one's going
- 9:37Speaker 1: to overtime too with an extremely controversial ending. So by
- 9:41Speaker 1: the time the dust settles, we got a field storming
- 9:44Speaker 1: in Knoxville. We got a field storming in Provo. We
- 9:47Speaker 1: got Miami FSU going to overtime. And so we've got
- 9:52Speaker 1: five of the top seven going down on one day.
- 9:55Speaker 1: And FSU, had they beaten Miami, it would have gone
- 9:59Speaker 1: from All right. historic to like untouchably, historically, legendarily, never
- 10:05Speaker 1: going to be topped in the rest of history. Just
- 10:08Speaker 1: put it in an urn somewhere and put it up
- 10:10Speaker 1: on your mantle, put it above your fireplace. And then
- 10:14Speaker 1: in one of the most weird schedule quirks ever, Nebraska-Oregon
- 10:19Speaker 1: kicks off at 11 o'clock Eastern time. And maybe even
- 10:24Speaker 1: some of you who had planned on being asleep by then.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Your sensories are overloaded, you can't go to sleep, and
- 10:31Speaker 1: you just kind of sat there and let one of
- 10:33Speaker 1: the most hideous games with less than 500 combined offensive
- 10:36Speaker 1: yards take place in front of you. Compton texted me
- 10:40Speaker 1: no less than 70 times during the game. So yes,
- 10:44Speaker 1: ladies and gentlemen, if it felt like you had never
- 10:47Speaker 1: seen anything like it, It's because you had never seen
- 10:49Speaker 1: anything like it. So let's actually dive into these games.
- 10:53Speaker 1: We were in Bloomington, Indiana yesterday. The Don't Tread on
- 10:57Speaker 1: Saturday tour is at an Indiana football game for the
- 10:59Speaker 1: first time ever. Ohio State 19, Indiana 15, the game
- 11:03Speaker 1: presented by Jimmy John's. Buddy, I was starving last night,
- 11:07Speaker 1: by the way. I could have used a Jimmy John's
- 11:09Speaker 1: barbecue brisket sandwich available on the Jimmy John's app and
- 11:13Speaker 1: at JimmyJohns.com. I just waited too late. But I mean,
- 11:15Speaker 1: it's seven o'clock in the evening right now. For the
- 11:18Speaker 1: You're Not Live crowd, it's actually 7-11 p.m. No free
- 11:22Speaker 1: shout-outs there. That's literally what time it is, 7-11. It
- 11:25Speaker 1: was a perfect day in Bloomington. Jesse, what did this
- 11:27Speaker 1: game look like on TV? Because it was like upper 40s,
- 11:31Speaker 1: low 50s, but there was no wind, and it was
- 11:33Speaker 1: wall-to-wall sunshine. It felt great. It was like perfect college
- 11:37Speaker 1: football conditions. And then we see the first Indiana loss
- 11:41Speaker 1: since 2024. It's close throughout. I'm giving this game four
- 11:44Speaker 1: and a half chalae. we had some folks on the
- 11:47Speaker 1: Ohio state staff walking off the field claiming that this
- 11:51Speaker 1: deserve five chalice. And I, I got to tell you,
- 11:55Speaker 1: I can't push back on it, but we've got a,
- 11:58Speaker 1: we got a five chalice game later in the show
- 12:00Speaker 1: and we can't just toss those things out like candy.
- 12:02Speaker 1: It's not quite Halloween yet, but it was a solid win. Um,
- 12:05Speaker 1: They won the battle, did Ohio State. At what cost?
- 12:08Speaker 1: Julian Sane's out for several weeks now, and this is
- 12:11Speaker 1: not a situation where Ohio State has this really, really navigable,
- 12:15Speaker 1: soft underbelly of a schedule they're about to play. No,
- 12:19Speaker 1: they got at USC. They do have a bye week,
- 12:21Speaker 1: but they go to USC. They got Oregon coming in.
- 12:24Speaker 1: Northwestern's not an easy out. At Nebraska won't be an
- 12:27Speaker 1: easy out. What do we think, Jesse? Like three, four,
- 12:31Speaker 1: five weeks? Like that's kind of what you're piecing together.
- 12:34Speaker 1: That's sort of what it feels like back before the
- 12:36Speaker 1: end of the season, which of course ends with Michigan.
- 12:39Speaker 1: But man, these teams just felt evenly matched. Yes, you've
- 12:42Speaker 1: got a winner. Yes, you've got a loser. But neither
- 12:44Speaker 1: one of them could run it all that effectively. Neither
- 12:47Speaker 1: quarterback really felt like they ever settled in, which was
- 12:50Speaker 1: sort of weird to watch from the field. But then again,
- 12:54Speaker 1: you've got two really good defenses. But the margins are
- 12:56Speaker 1: just so small in these games. This type of game
- 12:58Speaker 1: is not going to have some box score where you go, yep,
- 13:01Speaker 1: there it is right there. I guess the closest we
- 13:04Speaker 1: get to a padlock stat, maybe even a paper popper,
- 13:08Speaker 1: Ohio State just took care of business on fourth down.
- 13:10Speaker 1: It's a limited sample size. They're 2 of 2. Indiana
- 13:12Speaker 1: was 0 of 2. That was the difference. Julian Sayen
- 13:16Speaker 1: just has the benefit of being able to throw a
- 13:18Speaker 1: ball up to Jeremiah Smith, and Jeremiah Smith does what
- 13:22Speaker 1: inhuman-type wide receivers do. He just went full alien mode
- 13:26Speaker 1: and hauled one in, and then Indiana on their end
- 13:30Speaker 1: couldn't keep Martian bounce at the very end. That's the
- 13:33Speaker 1: difference in the game. It's not domination on either side.
- 13:37Speaker 1: But I was listening to some people last night. I
- 13:40Speaker 1: don't even know what show I was listening to. I
- 13:42Speaker 1: was just kind of trying to peruse. I was trying
- 13:43Speaker 1: to feel out what the public sentiment was on this,
- 13:45Speaker 1: which I don't normally do. And I heard some guy
- 13:49Speaker 1: offer his takeaway on Indiana. And it was like, well, Indiana, man,
- 13:54Speaker 1: they're not the same as they were last year. What
- 13:56Speaker 1: kind of analysis is that exactly? Who is Indiana from
- 14:01Speaker 1: last year? Look around the country. That's not like some
- 14:05Speaker 1: eliminating type statement. Indiana's not as good as the version
- 14:10Speaker 1: of themselves last year that was one of the greatest
- 14:11Speaker 1: teams we've ever seen. Yeah, I know they're not. You
- 14:14Speaker 1: know what they are good enough to do? Probably still
- 14:16Speaker 1: compete for a national title if everything falls into place.
- 14:19Speaker 1: Their margins are a lot smaller, too. They don't have
- 14:21Speaker 1: Fernando Mendoza. They struggled to run the ball yesterday. But
- 14:26Speaker 1: They've played two games versus teams that are really good.
- 14:29Speaker 1: The run hasn't been there. Quarterback play, erratic. There was
- 14:32Speaker 1: a little bit of an injury issue with Hoover yesterday.
- 14:34Speaker 1: But even after all that, the path is clearly there.
- 14:38Speaker 1: It's clearly there. They just got to have a lot
- 14:41Speaker 1: more things go right for them. But they were a
- 14:42Speaker 1: high-level execution team last year, too. If they make a
- 14:46Speaker 1: field goal yesterday and or that catch happens at the
- 14:49Speaker 1: end of the game, people are talking totally different is
- 14:53Speaker 1: what I'm saying. So it's no different a team. Their
- 14:56Speaker 1: win-loss record is different. They've got less margin for error now.
- 15:00Speaker 1: I'll tell you, on my end, I don't know how
- 15:01Speaker 1: you felt about watching Ohio State, Jesse. I don't know
- 15:04Speaker 1: how anybody watching the show right now felt about Ohio State.
- 15:08Speaker 1: I'm not questioning Ryan Day. I'm not questioning Arthur Smith.
- 15:13Speaker 1: Maybe I'm questioning them in the most literal of senses.
- 15:16Speaker 1: I want to know how Chris Henry is not on
- 15:18Speaker 1: the field more. there's a lot more to this game
- 15:22Speaker 1: than physical traits. I fully understand that. But man, for
- 15:27Speaker 1: a team that has Jeremiah Smith on it, when you
- 15:29Speaker 1: stand on the field and watch Ohio State close up,
- 15:33Speaker 1: Chris Henry Jr. physically jumps out at you just as
- 15:37Speaker 1: much as Jeremiah Smith does. Jeremiah Smith's a world's different player, obviously.
- 15:42Speaker 1: And maybe Henry will be that one day. He just
- 15:44Speaker 1: hasn't had a chance to prove himself. But man, He
- 15:48Speaker 1: was a problem in the limited number of snaps he
- 15:50Speaker 1: had yesterday. You could tell he was a little bit
- 15:52Speaker 1: of an issue for Indiana. And I have a sneaking
- 15:55Speaker 1: suspicion Indiana may have expected him to be a lot
- 15:57Speaker 1: bigger of an issue. I think he played 11 snaps
- 16:00Speaker 1: or something like that. Chris Henry, he looks like the
- 16:05Speaker 1: kind of guy that can take over a game. There's
- 16:08Speaker 1: obviously a reason why they do things the way they do.
- 16:11Speaker 1: So when I say I'm questioning them, I literally mean, Ryan, man,
- 16:15Speaker 1: tell me why he doesn't play more. And then just
- 16:17Speaker 1: sit there and shut up and listen. We've got to
- 16:19Speaker 1: get him off the record, obviously. He won't come on
- 16:21Speaker 1: the show and say that. But congrats to Ohio State.
- 16:23Speaker 1: Just a hard-fought game, man. It was a pleasure to
- 16:25Speaker 1: be there. That was where we were yesterday. Where will
- 16:29Speaker 1: we be this week? Well, if you'll check your calendars
- 16:31Speaker 1: for just a second, it says October 18th. But it
- 16:35Speaker 1: should not say October, because that's not what month it is.
- 16:38Speaker 1: It is Cocktober. And as you well know by now,
- 16:42Speaker 1: South Carolina has pulled the nose up. South Carolina emphatically...
- 16:47Speaker 1: defended their honor in Gainesville, Florida last weekend, and Cocktober's
- 16:51Speaker 1: back on. Some people tried to cancel Cocktober. No, not me. Actually,
- 16:56Speaker 1: I did. I was just reacting. What am I supposed
- 16:58Speaker 1: to do? But then South Carolina announced to the world, no,
- 17:02Speaker 1: Cocktober's back on. So then when Tennessee beat Bama yesterday,
- 17:05Speaker 1: the group text, it got to churn in a little bit.
- 17:08Speaker 1: We were going to be in Austin, but Texas has
- 17:11Speaker 1: screwed two trips to Austin up for us. Not that
- 17:14Speaker 1: we're bitter about it. I just had some things planned.
- 17:19Speaker 1: I had some things planned in Austin, and now Arch
- 17:23Speaker 1: Manning has cost me a chance to face Teagan Kavon.
- 17:27Speaker 1: I'm pissed. Probably shouldn't be, because I would have been humiliated,
- 17:31Speaker 1: but I'm not happy about it. I am very happy
- 17:35Speaker 1: that we're going to Columbia, South Carolina, though. I didn't
- 17:37Speaker 1: think we were going to get an opportunity to. Prez
- 17:39Speaker 1: has never been to Williams-Brice Stadium. Savannah State has never
- 17:43Speaker 1: been to Williams-Brice Stadium. In an ironic turn of events,
- 17:47Speaker 1: she has to go to Austin on Friday, but then
- 17:51Speaker 1: is going to leave Austin to come to Columbia. How
- 17:53Speaker 1: about that? Small world we live in. Yes, the shirts
- 17:57Speaker 1: will be available. PateStateMaterial.com, the Don't Tread on Saturday tour
- 18:01Speaker 1: is headed to Columbia. We'll be there Friday for Bussin'
- 18:04Speaker 1: and Pate on Campus. That'll be from 2 to 3 Eastern,
- 18:07Speaker 1: and then we'll be right there on the sidelines Saturday
- 18:09Speaker 1: if Shane will have us. I don't know. Okay? I
- 18:13Speaker 1: don't take anything for granted. We said some nasty things
- 18:16Speaker 1: about Cocktober. We thought it was canceled, but it's back on.
- 18:19Speaker 1: I cannot wait to get over there. I've been to
- 18:21Speaker 1: several games there. It always delivers. It always delivers, and
- 18:25Speaker 1: it will this time, too. One of the main reasons
- 18:33Speaker 1: we're going there for this week. Tennessee just took Bama
- 18:38Speaker 1: apart yesterday. Third Saturday in October. turns into a 26-10 final,
- 18:44Speaker 1: edge Tennessee. I'll give this to Chalai. It was just
- 18:48Speaker 1: a game that I don't know how it hit you,
- 18:50Speaker 1: but it hit me in a way that I kept
- 18:53Speaker 1: expecting something to happen, and it just never happened. This
- 18:56Speaker 1: is three straight wins for Tennessee and Knoxville. We were
- 18:59Speaker 1: there for the last two. Field stormings, thick cloud of
- 19:03Speaker 1: cigar smoke, the whole scene. It's been perfect weather all
- 19:06Speaker 1: three times they've had this happen. I don't know what
- 19:08Speaker 1: Bill Martin does over there, There he is. There's Bill
- 19:11Speaker 1: right there. Good for Bill. I mean, Josh Heupel's in
- 19:13Speaker 1: the shot too, but mainly this is a Bill Martin thing.
- 19:16Speaker 1: There it is, Jesse. Is there any better scene in
- 19:19Speaker 1: college football than Tennessee taking down Alabama and then just
- 19:23Speaker 1: like basically throwing a party on the natural playing surface
- 19:27Speaker 1: of Neyland Stadium? Guys, if you've never experienced that place,
- 19:31Speaker 1: I once called it an avalanche of noise. Like if
- 19:34Speaker 1: noise could kill people, no one would ever make it
- 19:37Speaker 1: out of Neyland Stadium alive. especially if you play for Alabama.
- 19:40Speaker 1: Did you see the body language yesterday? Obviously, people watched
- 19:45Speaker 1: the game. But anyway, that place looked and sounded like it.
- 19:50Speaker 1: it was completely and utterly out-of-this-world electric yesterday. It was
- 19:55Speaker 1: just thorough domination, man. It felt like a 42-10 game.
- 19:59Speaker 1: Tennessee had to settle for several field goals early in
- 20:02Speaker 1: this game. And there's this old saying, which is a lie,
- 20:05Speaker 1: and that is you can't beat people with field goals. Yeah,
- 20:08Speaker 1: you can. If you don't let them score, you absolutely
- 20:12Speaker 1: can win with field goals. It's just not ideal. And
- 20:15Speaker 1: so you assume, man, we're just a couple of weeks
- 20:17Speaker 1: removed from Bama leading the country in scoring. Oh, man,
- 20:21Speaker 1: they're averaging 45 points a game. So you just assume
- 20:24Speaker 1: slow start here, but, like, eventually that thing is coming.
- 20:28Speaker 1: It never happened. It never happened. It was... The most
- 20:34Speaker 1: glaring thing about this was physicality. So I want to
- 20:39Speaker 1: take you back the night of the national championship game
- 20:42Speaker 1: in Miami. We're there. Indiana takes down Miami. They win
- 20:48Speaker 1: it all. Confetti's raining down. Everyone saw that part. What
- 20:52Speaker 1: the public didn't see was Derek Owings and his staff.
- 20:55Speaker 1: That was the strength staff that Sig had at Indiana.
- 20:57Speaker 1: They hopped a plane right out of Miami to Knoxville, Tennessee.
- 21:02Speaker 1: They were there the next morning for like a 9 a.m.
- 21:06Speaker 1: team meeting, whatever time the team meeting was. It was
- 21:08Speaker 1: before lunch. I know that. And that was a huge
- 21:12Speaker 1: point of emphasis for Josh Heupel because he looked at
- 21:15Speaker 1: his team and just flat out said, we can't keep
- 21:18Speaker 1: going through these league schedules facing Alabama, facing Georgia. We're
- 21:22Speaker 1: going to have to play Texas, Florida. We've got to
- 21:24Speaker 1: play a bunch of teams that are real physical. We're
- 21:27Speaker 1: not good enough in that department, and there's no reason
- 21:30Speaker 1: we can't be. So they invested in just becoming better physically.
- 21:36Speaker 1: Did you watch the game yesterday to feel a little
- 21:38Speaker 1: bit different? Because Tennessee's normal formula for winning these kinds
- 21:43Speaker 1: of games is they got to pop you over the
- 21:45Speaker 1: top several times. Buddy, they had one explosive pass play
- 21:49Speaker 1: all day. They just ran all over Alabama. That's what
- 21:52Speaker 1: they did. Bishop was incredible. 32 carries, 159 Two touchdowns,
- 21:58Speaker 1: they moved the line of scrimmage all day on offense.
- 22:01Speaker 1: Defense did the same thing. They harassed Keelan Russell all day.
- 22:04Speaker 1: They had five sacks. They had ten tackles for loss.
- 22:07Speaker 1: They owned the game physically. That's the difference with Tennessee
- 22:11Speaker 1: right now. They've still got a ways to go. They're
- 22:14Speaker 1: still a vulnerable team. They're going to go play South
- 22:15Speaker 1: Carolina this weekend. They're a one-and-a-half point favorite. For all
- 22:20Speaker 1: I know, they could get bitten and lose by three
- 22:21Speaker 1: touchdowns this weekend. What I saw yesterday was a glimpse
- 22:24Speaker 1: of things to come. Because they'll end up getting better
- 22:28Speaker 1: as their quarterbacks gain experience. But the physicality piece, far
- 22:33Speaker 1: above and beyond anything else in this game, that's what
- 22:35Speaker 1: stood out. So you're supposed to regret having to settle
- 22:40Speaker 1: for four field goals early. They had such a physical edge,
- 22:43Speaker 1: it didn't even matter. The only thing you found yourself
- 22:46Speaker 1: saying at the end is, wow, I can't believe it's
- 22:48Speaker 1: only a 16-point game. That's basically what the field goals
- 22:51Speaker 1: did to this game. As for Alabama... What a two-week stretch.
- 22:55Speaker 1: It is crazy the difference that eight days can make
- 22:59Speaker 1: in this league. But I don't want to start there.
- 23:02Speaker 1: I don't want to start there. There's their schedule you
- 23:04Speaker 1: see on the slider. We knew the meat of their
- 23:06Speaker 1: schedule was in the middle. And they went to Mississippi State.
- 23:10Speaker 1: And then after that, they had Georgia at Tennessee. And
- 23:13Speaker 1: then they're going to play A & M at LSU.
- 23:14Speaker 1: It was that four-game stretch everyone was paying attention to.
- 23:17Speaker 1: They are currently 0-2 in the midst of the four-game stretch.
- 23:23Speaker 1: I know this was a sad experience for Alabama fans,
- 23:26Speaker 1: and I want to tell you eventually it'll get better,
- 23:29Speaker 1: but not over the next two minutes. The piano has
- 23:33Speaker 1: been wheeled in. Our special guest that visits us every
- 23:36Speaker 1: Sunday night is here. The Alabama Crimson Tide, this week's
- 23:40Speaker 1: Sarah McLachlan special, presented by Courtyard. Follow me here. Alabama,
- 23:45Speaker 1: 54 yards rushing, season low. Alabama, 147 yards passing, season low. Alabama,
- 23:52Speaker 1: 10 points total, season low. Alabama, two third down conversions,
- 23:57Speaker 1: season low. Alabama, 12 first downs, season low. Now you
- 24:01Speaker 1: may be thinking, well, that's awful negative. Weren't there some highs? Yes,
- 24:04Speaker 1: there were. They had season highs and turnovers and penalty yardage.
- 24:11Speaker 1: So it wasn't all lows. Nine drives for Alabama, less
- 24:15Speaker 1: than 15 yards. They ran 55 plays in the game.
- 24:19Speaker 1: Tennessee had 44 in the first half. I have the
- 24:24Speaker 1: unfortunate duty to read you Alabama's drive chart. Fumble, three
- 24:31Speaker 1: and out, interception, punt, three and out, touchdown set up
- 24:38Speaker 1: in plus territory already by a defensive turnover, three and out, fumble,
- 24:44Speaker 1: field goal, turnover on downs, three and out, three and out, interception,
- 24:50Speaker 1: end of game. over the span of eight days, Alabama
- 24:55Speaker 1: goes from averaging 45 points per game to lacking an
- 24:59Speaker 1: offensive identity entirely. It brings me no joy. It never does.
- 25:04Speaker 1: The Alabama Crimson Tide back against the wall the rest
- 25:08Speaker 1: of the way with two losses this week's Sarah McLachlan special.
- 25:14Speaker 1: Our buddy Colm Cook, though, Alabama fan, not a great
- 25:17Speaker 1: day yesterday, but he did Look at the show description
- 25:21Speaker 1: and entered his courtyard information. Hey, he's getting a free card.
- 25:25Speaker 1: We ripped it before the show. He's getting a free card.
- 25:27Speaker 1: So it's a good day for Colm Cook, at least. Congrats, buddy.
- 25:30Speaker 1: Tennessee heads directly into the storm this week. They are
- 25:33Speaker 1: headed to South Carolina. So like all these SEC teams
- 25:37Speaker 1: in the SEC, what is it, Jesse, just the circle
- 25:40Speaker 1: of death right now? Death and despair. Everyone keeps winning,
- 25:43Speaker 1: then losing. The letdown wheel of death. Tennessee's in it now.
- 25:48Speaker 1: And they go to Columbia, South Carolina. Hey, what did
- 25:50Speaker 1: South Carolina do yesterday? Oh, they were off a bye? Okay, cool.
- 25:54Speaker 1: So Tennessee's a one and a half point favorite in Columbia.
- 25:56Speaker 1: We'll deal with that later. Bama's a really banged up team.
- 25:59Speaker 1: I don't want to gloss over this injury situation because
- 26:00Speaker 1: I think it mattered. Frankly, I think it mattered a
- 26:03Speaker 1: lot more yesterday than I thought it would. Ryan Williams
- 26:06Speaker 1: being out was a big deal. They were missing their center.
- 26:10Speaker 1: Rayson Delgatti was out. Terrence Green was out. EJ Crowell
- 26:13Speaker 1: left the game. Zabian Brown left the game. So They're
- 26:17Speaker 1: not off this week. They've got A & M. A &
- 26:20Speaker 1: M' s been a bad team. I'm telling you week to
- 26:23Speaker 1: week that stuff doesn't matter. Auburn's been a bad team.
- 26:26Speaker 1: Did it matter yesterday? Not really. Bama opened as a
- 26:29Speaker 1: two-touchdown favorite. I know that shocked some people. I don't
- 26:33Speaker 1: assume anything about that game this weekend. They're watching us
- 26:36Speaker 1: in Aspen, Colorado. That sounds so peaceful. It's watching a
- 26:39Speaker 1: college football show in Aspen, Colorado tonight. Topeka, Kansas, the
- 26:44Speaker 1: Aspen of Kansas. They're tuned in. And Greensboro, North Carolina.
- 26:47Speaker 1: Thank you guys so much. I need to hit refresh
- 26:49Speaker 1: over here right quick. And there we go. Appreciate you
- 26:55Speaker 1: guys being tuned in. If you're watching live or if
- 26:57Speaker 1: you're watching the replay, please subscribe to the channel. Game
- 27:02Speaker 1: of the night, game of the day, five Chalai Classic,
- 27:05Speaker 1: Brigham Young 28, Notre Dame 24. It brings me tons
- 27:09Speaker 1: of joy when we have a five-challi classic. It gets
- 27:11Speaker 1: no better than what we saw last night. You guys
- 27:16Speaker 1: and girls who got to be at this game, I
- 27:18Speaker 1: know they don't give away physical ticket stubs anymore. It's
- 27:20Speaker 1: all digital stuff. You need to get a commemorative ticket
- 27:24Speaker 1: stub made. This is like tell kids about it 50
- 27:27Speaker 1: years from now type stuff. You were there. They can't
- 27:30Speaker 1: take it from you. I don't care if you end
- 27:32Speaker 1: up in prison one day. You'll tell the story in
- 27:34Speaker 1: prison about how you were at the Notre Dame game
- 27:37Speaker 1: in 2026. You may even refer to it as a
- 27:40Speaker 1: five child like classic. A lot of you, I think
- 27:44Speaker 1: everyone watching the show watched this game last night. I
- 27:47Speaker 1: tweeted this out. This felt like a 1990s football game.
- 27:52Speaker 1: There was something about how raw how gritty the game felt.
- 27:56Speaker 1: There's something about that game being played in Provo too,
- 27:58Speaker 1: but also natural grass always helps. I think really tight
- 28:03Speaker 1: sidelines that are a little bit too crowded, maybe like
- 28:07Speaker 1: 15 or 20 too many people have been credentialed for sidelines.
- 28:10Speaker 1: That is great. That is like a quintessential old school
- 28:15Speaker 1: college football scene. Every play It's like players being willing
- 28:18Speaker 1: to go over a cliff effort-wise. Brigham Young's trying to
- 28:22Speaker 1: prove themselves and validate themselves. Notre Dame knows they got
- 28:25Speaker 1: to go prove themselves. Weather's perfect. ESPN did a heck
- 28:30Speaker 1: of a job broadcasting it. I think they should have
- 28:32Speaker 1: offered an SD option because that's all that kept it
- 28:35Speaker 1: from looking like 1996 last night. Just unbelievable. I cannot
- 28:39Speaker 1: imagine being there. Fundamentally, we got a completely different game
- 28:44Speaker 1: than I expected. Even if you told me Brigham Young
- 28:46Speaker 1: was going to win the game, I would not have
- 28:49Speaker 1: envisioned it like that. They're just flat out better than
- 28:51Speaker 1: I thought they were. Brigham Young's just better than I
- 28:53Speaker 1: thought they were. They were able to do things offensively
- 28:56Speaker 1: that I didn't think they'd be able to do. They
- 28:58Speaker 1: dialed up an excellent offensive game plan. They were 8
- 29:01Speaker 1: of 12 on third down, but they were perfect on
- 29:04Speaker 1: third and short, which I thought was one of the
- 29:07Speaker 1: huge differences. And it's how they took control of the game.
- 29:10Speaker 1: You could look at final scores and they don't always
- 29:12Speaker 1: tell the whole story. Sometimes 28-24 means Notre Dame got
- 29:16Speaker 1: out to a big league and then Brigham Young kind
- 29:18Speaker 1: of came from behind, like Auburn did against Georgia. This
- 29:21Speaker 1: was Brigham Young controlling most of the game. I mean,
- 29:25Speaker 1: it's 21-10, I think, at half or something like that,
- 29:26Speaker 1: and Notre Dame has to fight to get back in it.
- 29:29Speaker 1: Credit them. They did. More on Notre Dame in a second.
- 29:32Speaker 1: But this Bear Bachmeier stat line... Like, he was 23
- 29:36Speaker 1: of 36 for 224. It's not that he's never thrown for.
- 29:40Speaker 1: 224 before, and I think a lot of other people
- 29:43Speaker 1: just questioned whether they could scale their offensive production against
- 29:47Speaker 1: what we think is one of the best defenses in
- 29:49Speaker 1: the country, and especially without L.J. Martin at running back.
- 29:53Speaker 1: They're missing the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year
- 29:55Speaker 1: last year, and they still did it. This is an
- 29:59Speaker 1: all-timer for Bear Bachmeier. You freeze this. You carve this
- 30:03Speaker 1: in stone. You do that through the arrogance Notre Dame,
- 30:06Speaker 1: then you add 45 more on the ground with two touchdowns,
- 30:09Speaker 1: then you have a touchdown catch. He could have drawn
- 30:14Speaker 1: up on a piece of paper his perfect game yesterday morning.
- 30:17Speaker 1: I don't think it would have gone that well. Just
- 30:20Speaker 1: a war, man. Unbelievable game. So the padlock stat, if
- 30:25Speaker 1: you want to identify one, is red zone because they
- 30:27Speaker 1: got down there four times and they were 4-4 for
- 30:30Speaker 1: 28 points and Notre Dame was 3-5 but only for 18.
- 30:34Speaker 1: I mean, it was a hard-fought game back and forth,
- 30:37Speaker 1: so I cannot give enough credit to the fan base
- 30:41Speaker 1: for creating just an incredible atmosphere. Sometimes people will go
- 30:45Speaker 1: to big games, and anyone who goes to a big game,
- 30:48Speaker 1: especially for places that don't get it regularly, they'll always
- 30:51Speaker 1: tell you, oh, this is a crazy environment. But sometimes
- 30:55Speaker 1: those of us watching it on TV will say, yeah,
- 30:57Speaker 1: I mean, it felt okay, but I don't know, I've
- 31:00Speaker 1: seen 10 better this year. I haven't seen one better
- 31:02Speaker 1: than that this year. Like that place and then Neyland
- 31:05Speaker 1: Stadium yesterday. Those two places, and one always gets credit
- 31:10Speaker 1: in Neyland, and the other deserves a ton of credit.
- 31:13Speaker 1: Those were above and beyond anything else that I think
- 31:16Speaker 1: we've seen this year so far in college football. So
- 31:18Speaker 1: what about the Notre Dame side of this? Look at
- 31:21Speaker 1: what they got forced into. I mean, the spot, I
- 31:25Speaker 1: don't think it swallowed them up, but it was tough
- 31:27Speaker 1: on them. But they responded. So if it swallowed them up,
- 31:30Speaker 1: they would have done what Bama did and folded. They didn't.
- 31:32Speaker 1: They responded. They ended up taking the lead in this game.
- 31:35Speaker 1: So big credit, there's no huge loser. It's like Ohio State, Indiana.
- 31:38Speaker 1: There's no huge loser. But CJ Carr had a season
- 31:42Speaker 1: high in pass attempts. And that dude threw the ball
- 31:46Speaker 1: 49 times yesterday. And that's just something I did not expect. 27-49.
- 31:51Speaker 1: He had 261. He did not have his best day accuracy-wise. Now,
- 31:56Speaker 1: I know some Notre Dame folks were a little bit
- 31:59Speaker 1: tough on him. I trust C.J. Carr, man. Like a
- 32:02Speaker 1: lot of what I watched Notre Dame do last night,
- 32:04Speaker 1: ironically in a loss, kind of made me feel really
- 32:07Speaker 1: good about him moving forward because I think C.J. Carr
- 32:10Speaker 1: can be a lot better from a precision and accuracy standpoint.
- 32:14Speaker 1: But just, dude, him like... taking that offense by the throat,
- 32:19Speaker 1: even in a loss, I felt really good about it.
- 32:22Speaker 1: You want to win the game, they got other shots.
- 32:25Speaker 1: They got Miami coming to town in a few weeks.
- 32:27Speaker 1: I think they'll be okay. But 30 rushes for 115,
- 32:31Speaker 1: most of that coming early, it kind of plays out
- 32:35Speaker 1: on paper like Notre Dame knew, dude, we're going to
- 32:37Speaker 1: have tough sledding. We're going to have to throw the
- 32:39Speaker 1: ball to win. And they kind of did, but they
- 32:42Speaker 1: didn't enough. I still think if they get into this
- 32:45Speaker 1: spot again down the road, which they will against Miami,
- 32:48Speaker 1: and they will if they make the playoff, I still
- 32:50Speaker 1: think I trust them. But he wasn't on, but he battled.
- 32:54Speaker 1: But the game changer is for the Big 12 here.
- 32:57Speaker 1: It's a game changer for Brigham Young, and I don't
- 32:59Speaker 1: know how much Brigham Young fans really care about how
- 33:03Speaker 1: their win impacts the Big 12, but it's big. As
- 33:07Speaker 1: I sit here right now, Jesse, do you think that's
- 33:09Speaker 1: a two-bid league right now? I do. If I had
- 33:12Speaker 1: to guess right now, Because this chaos is not done.
- 33:16Speaker 1: Three bid. Wow. It's aggressive. You don't have to shrug.
- 33:21Speaker 1: Don't apologize. Apologize for losing to Michigan. Don't apologize for
- 33:25Speaker 1: thinking the Big 12 is a three bid league. Wow.
- 33:29Speaker 1: What does the live chat think about that? Poll question?
- 33:33Speaker 1: I know you just put another one up there one
- 33:35Speaker 1: minute ago. It's not a bad poll question, Jesse. I
- 33:40Speaker 1: guess over or under two and a half bids for
- 33:41Speaker 1: the Big 12 right now. Yeah, so Notre Dame, okay,
- 33:47Speaker 1: the thing about Notre Dame, I think I've undersold this.
- 33:50Speaker 1: I know a lot of America is very mad. We're
- 33:52Speaker 1: going to talk about the AP poll later. A lot
- 33:54Speaker 1: of America is very mad because you think Notre Dame
- 33:57Speaker 1: never challenges themselves, which is a lie, although this year's
- 34:00Speaker 1: schedule is a little soft. But in general, they do
- 34:03Speaker 1: challenge themselves more than their reputation suggests they do. It's
- 34:06Speaker 1: just a lot of people hate Notre Dame. However, this year,
- 34:10Speaker 1: I think everyone kind of understands the score. They've got
- 34:12Speaker 1: two really, really big games that were circled in the preseason.
- 34:15Speaker 1: This was one of them. Miami's the other one. And
- 34:18Speaker 1: you're thinking to yourself, if Notre Dame's going to get
- 34:20Speaker 1: benefit of doubt, if they're going to get ranked really highly,
- 34:22Speaker 1: we are going to place disproportionate emphasis on those two
- 34:26Speaker 1: big games. And they better go win them. Or else
- 34:28Speaker 1: we are not respecting them. We're not taking them seriously. Okay, well,
- 34:31Speaker 1: they lost. So don't respect them. All I'm telling you
- 34:35Speaker 1: is if they beat Miami, they're in the playoff. But
- 34:38Speaker 1: this is where it's going to really make you angry.
- 34:42Speaker 1: I know a lot of you, including me in the preseason,
- 34:45Speaker 1: looked at Notre Dame and said, a 10-2 Notre Dame
- 34:48Speaker 1: is not in the playoff. Especially if the two losses
- 34:51Speaker 1: are Brigham Young and Miami. You can continue to believe that.
- 34:55Speaker 1: I still think that too. But I am much, much
- 34:58Speaker 1: softer on that stance after seeing how much chaos there
- 35:01Speaker 1: is elsewhere. You've got to know what the rest of
- 35:04Speaker 1: the field would look like. independent of what your opinion
- 35:07Speaker 1: of Notre Dame would be, you've got to tell me
- 35:10Speaker 1: what the rest of the field will look like. If
- 35:12Speaker 1: it's a bunch of other two-loss teams, okay, Notre Dame's
- 35:15Speaker 1: going to be out. Is it going to be that?
- 35:17Speaker 1: I don't know yet. I'm just glad I got to
- 35:20Speaker 1: watch this game. It was unbelievable. Okay, we've got to
- 35:23Speaker 1: talk about some of these upsets. Auburn beat Georgia 27-24.
- 35:28Speaker 1: Just an out-of-nowhere result, I think, for most people. I'd
- 35:32Speaker 1: give this game 4-challi. This was a 14-0 Georgia lead,
- 35:36Speaker 1: and then Auburn just storms back. Number one team in
- 35:39Speaker 1: the country falls in back-to-back weeks. This snaps a 53-game
- 35:44Speaker 1: Georgia win streak against unranked opponents. The schedule dynamics were,
- 35:48Speaker 1: I think, huge here. We touched on it last week.
- 35:51Speaker 1: Maybe we should have emphasized it more. But the Penn
- 35:54Speaker 1: State-Michigan game and the Auburn-Georgia game, those were two games
- 35:58Speaker 1: that featured one team playing their seventh straight versus a
- 36:01Speaker 1: rested team. It's just that in this game, you still figure,
- 36:06Speaker 1: even with all that baked in, man, Auburn's not going
- 36:08Speaker 1: to beat Georgia. Auburn never wins in Athens. You're right,
- 36:11Speaker 1: they don't. And now they have. Alex Golish, undefeated against Kirby.
- 36:16Speaker 1: Does Kirby have an Alex Golish problem? That's what some
- 36:19Speaker 1: people are asking. So the single biggest thing for me
- 36:22Speaker 1: here was that America probably just tuned out totally at 14-0.
- 36:27Speaker 1: There was so much going on, like you were not
- 36:29Speaker 1: going to dedicate a lot of your attention to to
- 36:31Speaker 1: a nearly three touchdown favorite already up 14 to nothing
- 36:34Speaker 1: at home. And so you probably had no idea how
- 36:37Speaker 1: Auburn got back in the game, but it was 24 unanswered.
- 36:40Speaker 1: So like some of you turn the game back on
- 36:42Speaker 1: and it's 24 to 14 and you're saying, it's gotta
- 36:45Speaker 1: be a typo. There is no way that just happened. Yes,
- 36:49Speaker 1: it did. And I have the reason why. You remember
- 36:54Speaker 1: last week, Georgia was at Bama. They fumbled the ball
- 36:57Speaker 1: four times. They recover all four. Turns out that That
- 37:01Speaker 1: goes like a little circus ride. It goes both ways.
- 37:04Speaker 1: Georgia was minus three turnovers. And we call that a
- 37:07Speaker 1: padlock stat. The second biggest thing in this game, though,
- 37:10Speaker 1: because we talk about winners around here first, was Auburn
- 37:14Speaker 1: found a really effective way to use Byron Brown. 15
- 37:18Speaker 1: of 26 through the air, 150, one touchdown. But on
- 37:21Speaker 1: the ground, 26 carries, 115, one touchdown. Jesse, if DJ
- 37:27Speaker 1: Durkin plays halfway decent defense... I think I can win
- 37:30Speaker 1: with that. Win the turnover battle. Give me some good
- 37:35Speaker 1: dual threat quarterback numbers. Chaz Nimrod just goes full circus
- 37:40Speaker 1: mode in the end zone. That's just athlete making play.
- 37:43Speaker 1: You can draw it up all you want to. That
- 37:45Speaker 1: was one of the best catches I've seen all year
- 37:47Speaker 1: that Nimrod made. If you're going to pull this kind
- 37:49Speaker 1: of upset off, you're probably going to need to be
- 37:51Speaker 1: plus turnovers. You're going to need an all-in effort, which
- 37:54Speaker 1: they got, but also you're going to have to have
- 37:56Speaker 1: a couple of wow plays that Just have to happen.
- 38:00Speaker 1: You've got to have athletes on the team, and they've
- 38:01Speaker 1: got to go make a play. I know people want
- 38:04Speaker 1: to freak out about Georgia. Some people do, maybe. I
- 38:06Speaker 1: don't know. Maybe no one wants to freak out about Georgia.
- 38:08Speaker 1: I'm not. They're fine. Georgia's fine. However, the days of
- 38:16Speaker 1: C-plussing your way through one of these games is over.
- 38:19Speaker 1: And Kirby knew that. Kirby had a really, really weird
- 38:22Speaker 1: demeanor all week last week. I think it's because he
- 38:24Speaker 1: knew his team was beat up and tired. Now, are
- 38:27Speaker 1: those excuses? Yes. Yes, they are. They could also just
- 38:30Speaker 1: be true too, though. So a lot of Georgia buddies
- 38:34Speaker 1: of mine, like I have an ongoing group text in
- 38:37Speaker 1: Georgia games, many of which are happening when I can't
- 38:40Speaker 1: watch them live. Yesterday, I was driving back from Indiana
- 38:45Speaker 1: while this game was going on. I had it on,
- 38:46Speaker 1: but I was like, I can't watch it. Obviously, I'm driving.
- 38:49Speaker 1: So I'm just listening to it. But I stopped for gas.
- 38:52Speaker 1: I looked at the Georgia group text. And Jesse, do
- 38:54Speaker 1: you want to know what the number one takeaway was?
- 38:56Speaker 1: It was Kirby's demeanor. They were like, Kirby feels different.
- 39:01Speaker 1: He seems different. Well, I don't know. Maybe he's just
- 39:04Speaker 1: disinterested in football. I find that hard to believe, given
- 39:07Speaker 1: the audio we got six, seven days ago in Tuscaloosa. However,
- 39:11Speaker 1: I think he knew he had a really, really not
- 39:15Speaker 1: unfocused team. I just think they were really drained. And
- 39:19Speaker 1: they played like it. Like, go watch them yesterday. They
- 39:23Speaker 1: look slow. They, at times, look very, very mistake-prone. They're
- 39:27Speaker 1: just very un-Georgia-like. So you've got to do two things.
- 39:30Speaker 1: You've got to give Auburn a lot of credit for
- 39:32Speaker 1: taking advantage of it and maybe even imposing some of that.
- 39:34Speaker 1: And then number two, you've got to ask yourself, okay, well,
- 39:37Speaker 1: how much do I think external factors played into yesterday?
- 39:40Speaker 1: In my opinion, a healthy amount. So now they go
- 39:42Speaker 1: into the bye week and we'll get to prove the
- 39:44Speaker 1: theory because then they'll come out of the bye week
- 39:46Speaker 1: and they'll play Florida in Atlanta because that's a thing
- 39:49Speaker 1: this year. And I have a sneaking suspicion they'll be okay.
- 39:55Speaker 1: I think they'll be okay. Like someone in the live chat,
- 39:58Speaker 1: oh man, he's selling Kirby in Georgia being tired. What
- 40:02Speaker 1: if they were? It's their seventh straight game against a
- 40:05Speaker 1: team off a bye. I don't think that's the most
- 40:07Speaker 1: radical concept in the world. Anyway, you lost the game.
- 40:11Speaker 1: So now you have much less margin for error. And
- 40:15Speaker 1: let's remember now, this is not an easy stretch they're
- 40:18Speaker 1: about to go through. They got Florida. Throw that schedule
- 40:21Speaker 1: back up for a second, Bradley. They got Florida. They
- 40:23Speaker 1: got to go to Ole Miss. They got Missouri and
- 40:25Speaker 1: at South Carolina back to back to back. Jesse, we
- 40:28Speaker 1: have no idea what that game at South Carolina is
- 40:31Speaker 1: going to be late November. We have no idea. It's Cockvember,
- 40:34Speaker 1: but we don't know what South Carolina is going to
- 40:36Speaker 1: be by then. Is Missouri going to pack it in?
- 40:39Speaker 1: Is Ole Miss all of a sudden the best team
- 40:41Speaker 1: in the league? No one knows. That's why we play
- 40:43Speaker 1: the games. But this was a huge, huge, huge deal
- 40:46Speaker 1: for Alex Golish, and I'm going to tell you why.
- 40:49Speaker 1: Alex Golish is the same coach today that he was
- 40:52Speaker 1: when he woke up yesterday. But there are a lot
- 40:54Speaker 1: of people who are unconvinced about him that after this
- 40:57Speaker 1: kind of thing are thoroughly convinced. Because you've got to
- 41:00Speaker 1: understand what rivalry wins do in the South. Not just
- 41:04Speaker 1: in the South, but like in the SEC, you could
- 41:08Speaker 1: have so many people questioning you Saturday morning. If you're
- 41:11Speaker 1: a first-year head coach at Auburn, and you go into Athens, Georgia,
- 41:14Speaker 1: where some of the best have struggled historically, and you
- 41:17Speaker 1: beat them when they're number one in the country, it's
- 41:20Speaker 1: like all is right with the world. And so it
- 41:25Speaker 1: doesn't fundamentally change anything about who he is, It changes
- 41:29Speaker 1: fundamentally how a lot of that fan base will view him.
- 41:33Speaker 1: That's the beauty of winning a rivalry game. Now, for
- 41:36Speaker 1: Auburn's part in all this, they still got a shot
- 41:39Speaker 1: to do some things here. They're 4-2. The two losses
- 41:43Speaker 1: are both in conference. But they've still got everything in
- 41:46Speaker 1: front of them. And it starts this Saturday. I guess
- 41:49Speaker 1: it continues this Saturday. Lane and Ole Miss come to town.
- 41:52Speaker 1: What are you talking about? What did I say? Oh,
- 41:56Speaker 1: I said Lane and Ole Miss? habits. Lane and LSU
- 41:59Speaker 1: come to town, 11 a.m. kickoff. Okay, LSU on the road.
- 42:04Speaker 1: Blake Baker is not an American hero on the road.
- 42:07Speaker 1: I'm told he's just a normal citizen on the road.
- 42:09Speaker 1: That's what LSU folks are telling me. So we're going
- 42:13Speaker 1: to see. This could just be a blip on the
- 42:15Speaker 1: radar screen and Auburn drops the next two because it's
- 42:18Speaker 1: LSU and Ole Miss. Or maybe they found some things
- 42:22Speaker 1: and maybe they can ugly their way, you know, just
- 42:24Speaker 1: trip their way into a few more wins. Got a
- 42:27Speaker 1: story like that every year. It's got to be someone.
- 42:29Speaker 1: Why not Auburn? I meant to pull that up. Thank
- 42:34Speaker 1: you so much. Appreciate you guys watching the show. I
- 42:37Speaker 1: know there are a lot of options out there. I
- 42:38Speaker 1: appreciate you being tuned in. Jesse, check the live sub
- 42:43Speaker 1: count for me right quick. That was a legit cough.
- 42:44Speaker 1: Did you think that was fake? That was legit. It's
- 42:48Speaker 1: that time of season. Some drainage. Look at that. We
- 42:52Speaker 1: went over 586. Appreciate you guys. I know a lot
- 42:55Speaker 1: of you are watching. Mathematically, I guarantee some of you
- 42:57Speaker 1: aren't subbed. We could change that right now. All right,
- 43:06Speaker 1: let's get back to the show. This is going to
- 43:09Speaker 1: be negative. This is going to have a solidly negative tone.
- 43:13Speaker 1: So Florida beat Texas yesterday, 27-24. Good game. I give
- 43:19Speaker 1: it three and a half chela. It's a good game.
- 43:22Speaker 1: Had Joe Tess and Jesse Palmer in the house. I
- 43:25Speaker 1: wonder what it's like up there in the booth. Jesse
- 43:28Speaker 1: Palmer watching a big Florida upset. He's a very, very
- 43:32Speaker 1: professional guy. But I just always wonder if I could
- 43:35Speaker 1: just be the fly on the wall. There's got to
- 43:37Speaker 1: be something deep down inside you that feels a little
- 43:39Speaker 1: pride watching that. Texas scored early. Opening script, great. They
- 43:45Speaker 1: added a special touchdown, double great. It's 17-3. This game's over. No,
- 43:48Speaker 1: it's not. I saw 17-3, and I thought it was over.
- 43:56Speaker 1: As I said, we were at Indiana. We were on
- 43:58Speaker 1: the field. Prez shows me the phone. 17-3, and I said, oh, good. See,
- 44:03Speaker 1: I thought Texas would rip them yesterday. I thought that
- 44:06Speaker 1: was a get-right spot for them with the secondary, the
- 44:09Speaker 1: pass D, ranked in the 130s. I thought that was
- 44:12Speaker 1: one of the last shots for Sark and Arch to
- 44:16Speaker 1: get right. Even if it's not really gotten right, at
- 44:19Speaker 1: least you just kind of– Paint the picture that it
- 44:24Speaker 1: is against Florida secondary. No. Florida achieved enough balance on offense,
- 44:34Speaker 1: and they avoided mistakes, and they just kept making Texas play.
- 44:38Speaker 1: I think at one point there were like six empty
- 44:40Speaker 1: possessions in a row or something like that for Texas,
- 44:42Speaker 1: but Tramell Jones gets the start here. Aaron Filo's out,
- 44:45Speaker 1: and he goes 22 of 35. They put him in
- 44:47Speaker 1: a great position to novel concept. 155, added 41 on
- 44:53Speaker 1: the ground. Florida ran 81 plays in this game. You
- 44:57Speaker 1: know how difficult that is in today's game to run
- 45:00Speaker 1: 81 plays. They were 0 of 7 on third down
- 45:04Speaker 1: in the first half and still ended up running 81
- 45:07Speaker 1: plays because they were 8 of 12 in the second half.
- 45:10Speaker 1: Just incredible stuff. Full team win. They get to go
- 45:13Speaker 1: into a bye week now. Summerall wore the cowboy hat
- 45:17Speaker 1: out of the stadium. Just doesn't care. Just does not
- 45:20Speaker 1: care at all. And then they got Georgia. The next
- 45:24Speaker 1: game they play will be against Georgia in Atlanta. And
- 45:28Speaker 1: I just want to remind everyone, Florida's a 5-2 team. Now,
- 45:32Speaker 1: here's what's going to happen. Everyone is going to see,
- 45:35Speaker 1: by week in Georgia, Georgia will be solidly favored in
- 45:38Speaker 1: that game. They should. Georgia's a better team. What's going
- 45:42Speaker 1: to happen is, you've got two weeks to get ready
- 45:45Speaker 1: for that. So early on, your mind will say Georgia
- 45:48Speaker 1: will win that game. And then you'll start saying, okay,
- 45:50Speaker 1: but if Florida were to pull that off, let's see
- 45:53Speaker 1: the rest of the way. Oklahoma, and then they go
- 45:57Speaker 1: to Kentucky. Now in the preseason, you looked at those
- 46:01Speaker 1: last three games and you said, man, if they can
- 46:03Speaker 1: get through Oklahoma, they got a little bit of a
- 46:05Speaker 1: cakewalk at the end of the year. No, no, actually
- 46:08Speaker 1: the next place your eyes go is at Kentucky. Jesse,
- 46:12Speaker 1: has Oklahoma been reduced to a sandwich game? I think
- 46:16Speaker 1: it kind of has. Anyway, I don't even know what
- 46:19Speaker 1: to say about Texas. I really have no idea what
- 46:21Speaker 1: to say about Texas. You were facing a pass defense
- 46:25Speaker 1: well into the 100s, and Texas completed five passes past
- 46:30Speaker 1: the line of scrimmage. In the first quarter, Jesse? In
- 46:34Speaker 1: the first half? No, in the whole game. Completed five
- 46:38Speaker 1: passes past the line of scrimmage. Look at the slider
- 46:41Speaker 1: on your screen. If you're listening on podcast, this is
- 46:44Speaker 1: Sark's worst offense. I don't even know how that sentence
- 46:48Speaker 1: comes out of one's mouth and is accurate. This is
- 46:51Speaker 1: the worst offense he's had there. You got so much
- 46:54Speaker 1: money invested here. You got a multi-year starter in Arch.
- 46:56Speaker 1: You went and got both those tailbacks out of the portal.
- 46:59Speaker 1: They are 102nd in the country in rushing right now.
- 47:04Speaker 1: They're 126 in 20-plus yard plays. They've given up a
- 47:09Speaker 1: ton of sacks. They're in the 100s in sacks allowed.
- 47:12Speaker 1: And not all that's on the offensive line, although some
- 47:14Speaker 1: of it's on the offensive line. How do you not
- 47:17Speaker 1: make the move at quarterback right now? They interviewed Sark
- 47:20Speaker 1: after the game. They asked him, are adjustments, are changes
- 47:22Speaker 1: on the table? He said, everything's on the table. Here's
- 47:26Speaker 1: what I don't get to see. I don't know what
- 47:28Speaker 1: KJ Lacy looks like at practice. I have no idea.
- 47:31Speaker 1: I just know what Arch looks like in games. And
- 47:35Speaker 1: I always hesitate to say it can't get worse. Of
- 47:37Speaker 1: course it can get worse. It's got to get way better.
- 47:40Speaker 1: It's what I'm saying. Way better for Texas. You're not
- 47:44Speaker 1: pushing for a bowl game here. This is a championship
- 47:48Speaker 1: or bust type season. This is a roster built to
- 47:51Speaker 1: win a championship. And instead, you've got a bunch of
- 47:54Speaker 1: offensive statistics in the 90s or worse. They are not good.
- 47:59Speaker 1: Not good. Body language not good. Production not good. And yet,
- 48:05Speaker 1: they're still a 4-2 team. So technically, they can still
- 48:09Speaker 1: accomplish everything they wanted to accomplish. But also, they've still
- 48:12Speaker 1: got Ole Miss and trips to Missouri and LSU back
- 48:15Speaker 1: to back. And nothing can be taken for granted at
- 48:19Speaker 1: this point. Nothing. By the way, need I remind everyone,
- 48:24Speaker 1: look at week two there. Can you imagine if they
- 48:26Speaker 1: didn't have that big comeback against Ohio State? They were
- 48:30Speaker 1: ugly against UTSA. That was a really clunky game on
- 48:33Speaker 1: the road against Tennessee. Nothing's looked good all year. At
- 48:38Speaker 1: no point, what stretch of football do you hang your
- 48:41Speaker 1: hat on for Texas this year and say, we just
- 48:44Speaker 1: need to get back to that? There is no that.
- 48:46Speaker 1: It hasn't been there all year. I think that game
- 48:50Speaker 1: yesterday is going to change things at Texas. I think
- 48:54Speaker 1: the radical example of that is Penn State last year
- 48:58Speaker 1: losing to Oregon. That's a radical example of that. I'm
- 49:01Speaker 1: not saying yesterday has that kind of impact. I'm just
- 49:03Speaker 1: saying I have not been hitting Texas people up. Yesterday
- 49:11Speaker 1: was the kind of outcome that has Texas folks hitting
- 49:13Speaker 1: you up voluntarily. Pretty important ones. People who are responsible.
- 49:20Speaker 1: for a lot of that roster and the way it's
- 49:22Speaker 1: put together, you know, from a financial standpoint. And I
- 49:27Speaker 1: think that there's a really unique situation at Texas. We
- 49:30Speaker 1: talked about this in the preseason. Now, at the time,
- 49:33Speaker 1: I didn't think it was going to be relevant because
- 49:35Speaker 1: I thought Texas would be really good this year, but
- 49:37Speaker 1: they're not. And so what I said is, if it
- 49:40Speaker 1: doesn't go the way I expect it to, this is
- 49:42Speaker 1: a really unique situation. Because like Sark and Texas are
- 49:45Speaker 1: on top of the world preseason. They're highly ranked. Championship aspirations.
- 49:50Speaker 1: All well and good if it goes that way. But
- 49:51Speaker 1: if it doesn't, this is not a classical old school
- 49:55Speaker 1: college football situation where you just tee it up and
- 49:58Speaker 1: try again. This is not one of those, well, let's
- 50:00Speaker 1: just recruit and develop and, you know, let's have patience.
- 50:03Speaker 1: This is not that. There's some other places like that.
- 50:07Speaker 1: But Texas was the most glaring example of that. And
- 50:10Speaker 1: so we're at that point now. We're at that little
- 50:13Speaker 1: inflection point coming off back-to-back losses to teams that have
- 50:17Speaker 1: not been good this year. And I always hesitate to
- 50:23Speaker 1: speculate because this is such a hard season to figure
- 50:26Speaker 1: out right now. For all I know, Texas is done losing.
- 50:29Speaker 1: I just have a hard time seeing that right now.
- 50:31Speaker 1: I think a lot of people who support that program
- 50:34Speaker 1: do as well. And Being likable is not enough, is
- 50:39Speaker 1: what I'm saying. I think there are a lot of
- 50:41Speaker 1: people around there who really like Steve Sarkeesian, but who
- 50:45Speaker 1: look at the output on the field and say, we're
- 50:49Speaker 1: not paying you because we like you. We're paying you
- 50:52Speaker 1: because we think you can win us a championship, and
- 50:53Speaker 1: if you can't, we think we're doing our part. We
- 50:58Speaker 1: don't think you're doing your part. That's the tradeoff for
- 51:02Speaker 1: being put in that spot. Next up. Miami almost lost
- 51:07Speaker 1: to Florida State last night. Translation, Miami beat Florida State
- 51:11Speaker 1: last night. This game kind of came out of nowhere.
- 51:14Speaker 1: Four and a half chalai. Like an awesome game, but
- 51:17Speaker 1: I did not expect to be putting four and a
- 51:19Speaker 1: half chalai on this game. I didn't even expect to
- 51:21Speaker 1: be breaking the game down on this Sunday show. So
- 51:25Speaker 1: it kind of came out of nowhere and there was
- 51:26Speaker 1: a lot of weird officiating in the end of this thing.
- 51:29Speaker 1: I'm going to talk about officiating later in the show.
- 51:31Speaker 1: So like if you're looking for me to rail against officials,
- 51:34Speaker 1: I will later in the show. because otherwise every game
- 51:39Speaker 1: recap could get bogged down with that. Was this Darian
- 51:41Speaker 1: Mintz's worst game? I think I can make the argument
- 51:45Speaker 1: it was, but it's so weird because he still threw
- 51:48Speaker 1: for 326 yards. He's just been really good this year.
- 51:52Speaker 1: So his worst game is better than some of these quarterbacks'
- 51:55Speaker 1: best games, but he was pressured on 39.5% of his dropbacks.
- 52:02Speaker 1: He was under duress, a fair amount of duress all night.
- 52:05Speaker 1: And so it feels so weird. This is where I'm
- 52:07Speaker 1: at on this game. I feel so weird after the game.
- 52:09Speaker 1: Because on one hand, in real time, I felt like
- 52:14Speaker 1: I was watching it and seeing so much QB inconsistency.
- 52:18Speaker 1: But yet he goes 23 of 34, 326, three touchdowns,
- 52:21Speaker 1: one pick. It's a really good stat line. I felt
- 52:24Speaker 1: like the offensive line looked really rough at times. But
- 52:28Speaker 1: they had 583 total yards and 43 points, if you
- 52:29Speaker 1: count overtime. So, like, I don't know, did I not
- 52:34Speaker 1: see what I thought I saw? Or was Miami just
- 52:36Speaker 1: playing an inferior defense that even when flawed, they could
- 52:39Speaker 1: run the score up? I don't know. Maybe both. I
- 52:43Speaker 1: lean towards the latter. But you never apologize for this stuff. Like,
- 52:47Speaker 1: we could look at point spreads and all that, but
- 52:49Speaker 1: once a game starts, actually even before a game starts,
- 52:52Speaker 1: but especially once it starts, point spreads don't matter. Man,
- 52:55Speaker 1: it's just a game happening. You could tell... You could
- 52:59Speaker 1: tell at halftime and then getting into third quarter, buddy,
- 53:02Speaker 1: forget about 21.5 points or anything like that. Miami's just
- 53:05Speaker 1: got to find a way to win this. And they did.
- 53:08Speaker 1: You never apologize for it. I can wonder how they
- 53:11Speaker 1: match up with other teams down the road, but this
- 53:14Speaker 1: was last night. This is not down the road. Miami's
- 53:17Speaker 1: lost these kind of games in the past. Georgia Tech,
- 53:19Speaker 1: Virginia Tech, they found ways to lose this, so you
- 53:22Speaker 1: credit them for winning it. But I don't know how you...
- 53:28Speaker 1: came away thinking about Florida State here. But I looked
- 53:32Speaker 1: in our inbox and I was kind of surprised. Now,
- 53:34Speaker 1: it wasn't Florida State fans saying this, but a lot
- 53:36Speaker 1: of people were saying about Florida State, oh, good for them, man. Like,
- 53:41Speaker 1: they covered. They took it to overtime. They almost won. Like,
- 53:45Speaker 1: good for Mike Norvell. I don't know where that comes from.
- 53:49Speaker 1: Because you're talking about them like they're a G6 team.
- 53:53Speaker 1: You're talking about them like they're this David coming in
- 53:56Speaker 1: and really challenging Goliath. It's Florida State. They're supposed to
- 54:02Speaker 1: be that. That's what it's supposed to look like. The
- 54:05Speaker 1: very fact that anyone is shocked that they almost won
- 54:09Speaker 1: a game is evidence it's not working. I know if
- 54:14Speaker 1: you just view this game in a vacuum, yeah, it's admirable. Yeah, look,
- 54:19Speaker 1: even take it out of the vacuum. Yeah, they fought.
- 54:22Speaker 1: That's supposed to be the default setting. It's a rivalry game. Like,
- 54:26Speaker 1: of course you fight. Of course you do. But you're
- 54:30Speaker 1: getting patted on the head for keeping it close. Like,
- 54:33Speaker 1: isn't that all the evidence in the world? So I
- 54:35Speaker 1: don't know Maybe I just saw the wrong DMs, but
- 54:38Speaker 1: I view this game totally different than a lot of
- 54:40Speaker 1: the people who were in our inbox that I think
- 54:42Speaker 1: thought we were going to stroke FSU on the cheek
- 54:45Speaker 1: a little bit and say, attaboy. No, no, no. I
- 54:50Speaker 1: don't know that anything really changes there. They're a 3-4 team.
- 54:54Speaker 1: It's just another bad year. They led Alabama, Josh. Well,
- 54:58Speaker 1: they also lost Well, they pushed Miami, but they lost.
- 55:03Speaker 1: And they also lost to SMU and got pushed by
- 55:07Speaker 1: New Mexico State in week one. Like, okay. If what
- 55:13Speaker 1: we want to do at Florida State is brag about
- 55:16Speaker 1: beating Virginia handedly, then brag about beating Virginia handedly. I
- 55:20Speaker 1: know that fan base is not there, so I'm actually
- 55:22Speaker 1: not talking to the fan base. But Mike Norvell's future,
- 55:25Speaker 1: I don't think it changed at all. Like, I... I
- 55:28Speaker 1: think they're extenuating financial circumstances that are the only reason
- 55:31Speaker 1: this is still hanging on by a thread as it is.
- 55:34Speaker 1: But as for Miami, they got Pitt coming up, and
- 55:39Speaker 1: then they go to North Carolina on Halloween, and they're
- 55:43Speaker 1: playing Bill Belichick on the road right before they play
- 55:46Speaker 1: Marcus Freeman in South Bend. I don't even know. There
- 55:51Speaker 1: are whispers of a letdown spot, sandwich spot. I'm not
- 55:54Speaker 1: whispering that yet. Maybe this was an attention grabber. I
- 55:58Speaker 1: don't know. Some more games to talk about here. I'm
- 56:00Speaker 1: going to hit officiating and AP poll stuff. It's a
- 56:04Speaker 1: jam-packed show, guys. You saw yesterday. I was never going
- 56:08Speaker 1: to be able to keep this show under an hour
- 56:09Speaker 1: and a half. Will Stein is a terrorist and Kentucky
- 56:13Speaker 1: beat Oklahoma. He is, Jesse. He can't keep getting away
- 56:17Speaker 1: with this stuff. Does he not know his place? Does
- 56:20Speaker 1: Will Stein not know Kentucky's place? They're not supposed to
- 56:24Speaker 1: win these games, and yet he just keeps doing it.
- 56:30Speaker 1: There's a bad luck stat here. They had 230 total yards,
- 56:34Speaker 1: but in classic fashion, OU is right there with the
- 56:39Speaker 1: four turnovers. The only time it doesn't happen is when
- 56:42Speaker 1: they face Arch in Texas. Otherwise, they are going to
- 56:45Speaker 1: hand you that ball. If you'll just wait long enough,
- 56:48Speaker 1: and good on Kenny Menchie and Kentucky for continuing on
- 56:52Speaker 1: their part to take care of the ball, that's what
- 56:54Speaker 1: it takes. That's playing the game that's in front of you.
- 56:58Speaker 1: That's what it takes. And it was nothing more, nothing less.
- 57:01Speaker 1: I watched this game from start to finish last night,
- 57:04Speaker 1: and it's just every time the ball gets turned over,
- 57:07Speaker 1: all you can do is smile and shake your head.
- 57:10Speaker 1: It's every other game except the Texas game. That's basically
- 57:14Speaker 1: how the season's played out. So Kentucky is now... Jesse,
- 57:18Speaker 1: what number were they in the AP? Do you remember?
- 57:20Speaker 1: They're way up there. They should be way up there.
- 57:23Speaker 1: They're 6th? Are you saying six or 15? Well, that's
- 57:27Speaker 1: six fingers, but I knew they weren't that high. Wrong
- 57:31Speaker 1: logo and whatnot. But good on them, man. Who do
- 57:33Speaker 1: they have next? Let's see. Vandy's coming in, and then
- 57:37Speaker 1: they go to Tennessee. They've got Florida coming in. Kentucky
- 57:40Speaker 1: could go to the playoff. Kentucky could go to the playoff.
- 57:44Speaker 1: And I've got a tweet bookmarked right now and saved
- 57:46Speaker 1: for a rainy day, and the storms are brewing. Next up,
- 57:52Speaker 1: Houston and Oklahoma State delivered. There were two games that
- 57:56Speaker 1: I thought would deliver big time this weekend. One of
- 57:59Speaker 1: them did, and the other one did not in the
- 58:02Speaker 1: most emphatic of fashions. But this one was the one
- 58:04Speaker 1: that did. Conor Wegman outplayed Drew Mestemaker. That's the headline.
- 58:09Speaker 1: I thought if Houston won the game, they were favored.
- 58:12Speaker 1: I thought if they won the game, it would be
- 58:13Speaker 1: like 250 rush yards. They had 162 on the ground.
- 58:18Speaker 1: Good day, but not what they did against West Virginia good.
- 58:21Speaker 1: But man, Conor Wegman... Look at that stat line, 24-33, 343,
- 58:26Speaker 1: five touchdowns. He had 52 more on the ground. It
- 58:32Speaker 1: was just incredible. There were over 1,000 combined yards, I think.
- 58:36Speaker 1: in this game. So it was everything that we thought
- 58:39Speaker 1: it would be. And because Houston won it, it was
- 58:41Speaker 1: very important for Houston to win this game because they
- 58:44Speaker 1: already had a conference loss. So now, I mean, we
- 58:46Speaker 1: got Houston in the thick of this thing. Oklahoma State
- 58:49Speaker 1: is still in the thick of this thing. Texas Tech, Utah,
- 58:52Speaker 1: Brigham Young. Jesse has just gone on record as saying
- 58:56Speaker 1: the Big 12 is going to have three playoff teams.
- 58:58Speaker 1: That's a quarter of the playoff, Jesse. A quarter. Jesse's words,
- 59:04Speaker 1: not mine. Oregon... beat Nebraska at roughly 3 a.m. Eastern.
- 59:10Speaker 2: Time.
- 59:10Speaker 1: Oregon got a win against Nebraska. This game was very
- 59:14Speaker 1: nearly 0-0 at the half. And trust me, I had
- 59:17Speaker 1: the Frank Beamer gift ready to go. I had him
- 59:20Speaker 1: standing there. I had replaced the logos. And then what happened?
- 59:25Speaker 1: Nebraska scored a touchdown. Anthony Calandria. But anyway, I thought
- 59:31Speaker 1: it was Nebraska's. I really did. Will Compton has phone
- 59:37Speaker 1: battery on life support. He is blowing my phone up.
- 59:41Speaker 1: He's living and dying with every play. And then Dylan
- 59:44Speaker 1: Raiola comes off the bench and he just texted me
- 59:46Speaker 1: two words. He's in. I guess three if you count
- 59:48Speaker 1: the contraction. He's in. Like Nebraska folks were frothing at
- 59:53Speaker 1: the mouth. They wanted Oregon to get put in such
- 59:57Speaker 1: a Difficult position, and trust me, Oregon was in the
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: definition of a difficult position last night offensively. They wanted
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: Ryola in, and they got him. And Dylan Ryola ends
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: up coming from behind and beating Nebraska. That is a
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: dagger to the neck. Just emotionally, because you can't do
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: anything about it. You're a fan. You just have to
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: sit there and let it happen to you. And then
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: you stayed up late to watch it, so you're just
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: miserable the next morning. God be with these people. Will
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: just went out to the woods. Have you seen his
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: Twitter today? He's just in the woods somewhere. Like, several
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: miles outside of Nashville. I think he just needs to
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: be alone for a little while. Please leave him alone.
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: I'm mainly talking to wild animals at this point because
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: those are the only creatures that will run into him
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: based on the pictures I saw. This game had under
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: 500 total yards. It was really gross to watch. Is
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: Dante Moore coming back? Like, Oregon, let's get real for
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: a second. They're 4-2. They.
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: Are still technically in everything. They've looked very, very hideous offensively.
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: Dante Moore, we've got to figure out his status. There's
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: still a season that's very salvageable here. There's an outside
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: chance of playoff contention. It's still mathematically there, but they've
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: got to get him back. But there is still hope.
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: That's a heartbeat. That duck, that heart's still beating. Missouri's
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: is not. Ole Miss splattered Missouri yesterday, 31-3. Somehow, Austin
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: Simmons had how many? 339 passing yards. And Ole Miss
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: held them to three points. Just not at all what
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: I expected. I thought Houston, Oklahoma State, and Missouri-Ole Miss,
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: I thought those two games were both four-plus chalice classics.
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: And one of them was, and this was like a
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: no-chalice classic. Ole Miss just totally... missed the memo on
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: what kind of game this was supposed to be. So
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: Chambliss is incredible. Four more total touchdowns. The rushing edge,
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: this is a paper popper. 257-39. Insane, man. I thought
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: there would be several drives where Missouri had more than
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: 39 rush yards. So, I don't know what in the
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: world Pete Golding did to that run defense, but at
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: least for one week, it is fixed in a big way.
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: Baylor had everything lined up against TCU. It was all there.
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: The nose has been pulled up. The season has been resurrected.
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: DJ Lagway's on fire. We got a sellout crowd at Baylor,
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: and they just completely and utterly collapse against TCU. So
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: that's probably going to be it for Dave Aranda. Like,
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: the meal is spoiled now. It has been left out
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: on the counter overnight. No one wants it. It is done.
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: I don't really have much else to say about this
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: other than I am supremely disappointed. I really expected more
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: from Baylor in this spot. They're coming off a bye too,
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: I think. Just horrible. But even worse was Wisconsin. So
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: first off, we talk about winners first. UCLA beats Wisconsin 17-7.
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: Big credit for Bob Chesney and UCLA. So full stop.
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: They're playing backup quarterback there. They get a big win.
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: They step up defensively. But it was like among the
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: most disappointing outputs that I saw anywhere yesterday. Wisconsin with
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: a ton to play for, coming off a bye. UCLA
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: supposedly in a big letdown spot after they beat Oregon.
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: And they just get stuffed, man. They got held to
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: 214 total yards. I just expected more. Maybe I shouldn't.
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: But UCLA is 6-0 now in their schedule. When people
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: start to glance at it, more and more people, I think,
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: by the day, I think the Google search term of
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: UCLA schedule is really starting to spike. Guys, it's there.
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: You know what I mean by it. It is there
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: for UCLA. Michigan and Penn State. Great helmet game. Great
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: logo game. Great tradition game yesterday. It finally happened. Michigan
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: got the win, but it finally happened. Bryce Underwood got benched.
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: And Tommy Carr came in, outplayed Rocco Beckton in the
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: second half, which is not a difficult thing at all
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: to do these days. Did all of Michigan's points come
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: off turnovers, Jesse? All 21 of them? Yeah, not a
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: great recipe there. How do you go back? How do
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: you go back to Bryce Underwood now? Kyle Whittingham's been
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: just in a weird spot this whole year. That staff has.
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: They came off a bye. It was far from perfect.
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: It was far from aesthetically pleasing. But they got the win,
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: and now they've got Kurt Signetti in Indiana coming in Saturday. And, Jesse,
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: you guys want Rocco Beck to bench, right? Like you're
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: done with him? Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: Don't shrug. No. Yes. Yeah. Big 12's getting three teams in,
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: and you want quarterback movement at Penn State. I can't
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: blame you. I was just trying to get you to
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: take a stand there. I'm with you. It's a tough time.
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: You know what else was tough? believing in Arizona State yesterday. Yeah,
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: I did. And I paid for it dearly. 53-25, Texas
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: Tech beat Arizona State. I took a shot on Arizona
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: State plus 15.5, and that money is no longer in
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: my pocket. It is gone. It is never to be
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: seen again. Texas Tech actually fumbled on the Arizona State
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: two-yard line to start this game. Terrible, inauspicious start for
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: the Red Raiders. And they still hung half a hundred.
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: Because they scored on nine of their next ten drives.
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: Does this even count? It's not supposed to be that easy.
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: Arizona State had two interceptions, three more turnovers on downs.
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: They are allergic to the football. And Texas Tech's still undefeated.
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: Would you say Texas Tech's quietly undefeated, Jesse? Somehow I
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: think they're quietly undefeated. And now they go to Cincinnati
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: this week. And Cincinnati just got beat at the gun
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: by West Virginia. So that's wounded animal spot. I wouldn't
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: say this is a letdown spot for Texas Tech, but yeah,
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: a ton happened yesterday. There were so many good games
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: that got glossed over. Just an unbelievable Saturday. A Saturday
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: for the ages. Which begs the question, were you there?
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: And if you weren't, why not? And do you want
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: to be this week? So SeatGeek, actually I used SeatGeek
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: myself this weekend because I needed another parking pass and
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: I didn't want to mooch off people. Right now, it
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: could be parking, it could be tickets, it could be
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: concert tickets, whatever you need. Go to SeatGeek right now,
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: and right before you pay, enter the promo code PATE10, P-A-T-E-1-0.
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: That gets you 10% off all orders of $ 200 or less,
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: and it gets you $ 20 off all orders above $ 200
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: right there. You know what you're looking at? That is
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: Williams-Brice Stadium. That's where we'll be this Saturday. Great seats available.
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: Look at the listed prices. That's what it would cost casuals.
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: It'll cost you a little bit less if you go there.
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: and use promo code PATE10. Okay, we got to talk
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: about this officiating situation in college football right now. It's
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: just been really bad. People who have watched the show
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: for a long time know I don't really like overly
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: harp on this. I'll call it out every now and then,
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: but I don't call out the bad calls themselves, like
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: the judgment calls. I think you could nitpick each game
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: to death if you really wanted to do that. So
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: I don't even get all that angry about it. Maybe
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: I feel angry in the moment, but like Jesse, I
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: don't really show up to the show 24 hours later
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: and just bang the table for every missed hold or
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: this and that judgment calls. I really don't mess around
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: with the whole lot, even though, yeah, you could say
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: that there are some bad calls. I happen to think
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: it's a really, really hard job. I think officials have
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: a really hard job. I think they do their best.
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: So I'm not going conspiracy theory mode. I'm not doing
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: any of that. I just want to lay the runway
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: and so that I can say what I'm about to say.
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: The product isn't good enough. Just the overall job, the
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: overall officiating mechanism in college football is not good enough
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: right now, and I'm not even talking about judgment. I'm
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: talking about procedural, mechanical, knowing rules of the game, enforcing
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: them properly. It continues to get no discernible correction, because again,
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: if I had a head of officiating in the studio
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: right now, they wouldn't go on the record. But if
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: they were forced to go on the record, they would say,
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: that's not true. We have meetings every week. We have
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: we give out grades every week okay here's what someone
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: like us sees we see the same dudes calling the
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: games every week we see the same crews on the
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: games every week so Spare us because it doesn't really
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: pass the smell test. I don't doubt you have meetings.
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: Like there are a lot of companies out there who
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: have meetings every week and nothing gets done. Nothing really changes.
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: So this wouldn't be the first time nor the last
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: time that's happened. But just in the past few weeks...
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: We had the Texas-Tennessee onside kick situation that shouldn't have been.
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: It didn't end up changing the outcome of the game,
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: but it potentially could have changed the outcome of the game. Boom.
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: Statement the next week. Shouldn't have happened. There you go.
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: I don't know what we're supposed to do with the statement,
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: but there you go. By the way, some of this
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: stuff technically qualifies as a judgment call, like the Illinois-Michigan
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: State offsides call on that onside kick. That's technically a
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: judgment call. When you freeze frame some of this stuff,
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: And you have 10 guys clearly behind the line. And
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: then you have the kicker a good half yard ahead
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: of all of them. And there is a dude literally
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: standing right there. I don't even know if I call
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: that judgment. I just call that seeing. And we're not
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: seeing the game very well. So boom, another statement comes out.
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: We don't even need to go back and rehash the
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: whole Western Michigan, Michigan thing. At the very, very least,
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: that was handled terribly. It was communicated terribly, but everyone
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: spoke in their piece on that. UCLA-Oregon, the two-point conversion
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: ball spot, it's just wrong. That's not even judgment stuff, man.
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: That's procedurally wrong that could be fundamentally impacting the outcome
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: of a game. And this isn't Giants-Padres' second of a
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: four-game set in April. We only play 12 of these.
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: So if you're changing the outcome of a game, you're
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: changing the outcome of guys' careers, coaches' jobs potentially. Because
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: no one really remembers the bad calls. If you're 8-4
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: as opposed to 9-3 at the end of the year
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: and you get fired because of it, you got fired
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: because of it. Then you go to last week, you
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: had the Georgia-Alabama just like blatant missed face mask, the P.I.,
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: I just mentioned the Illinois-Michigan State onside kick because that
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: one threw me for a loop a couple of weeks ago,
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: and I haven't even gotten to last night. Last night,
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: this is Sunday, October 18th, by the way, if you're
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: watching a replay of this because it'll be a pretty
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: evergreen segment. Yesterday was really bad. Saturday, week seven, was
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: really bad. Notre Dame-Bringham Young was one of the great
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: spectacles of the college football season, one of the great
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: spectacles I've seen in a long time. the game's not
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: supposed to be over with a second on the clock.
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: And it was. And unlike the situation with Western Michigan, Michigan,
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: the Big 12 conference came out the next day and said, yeah,
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: we ended the game too early. There was one second
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: left on the clock. And you're like, What? I'm not
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: even sitting here as a Notre Dame fan or player
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: or coach, but imagine being in their shoes. No one's
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: going to feel sorry for Notre Dame, obviously. I'm not
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: asking you to, but what do you even do with that?
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: They send you an email, I guess, or maybe you
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: just find out on Twitter when everyone else does. Like, hey, guys,
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: we know you went and just fought your guts out
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: last night in Provo, Utah, and you lost by, what,
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: three points, Jesse? It's a three-point game, right? or a
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: four-point game, and you should have had another shot at
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: the end zone from inside the five-yard line, but you
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: didn't because we didn't look at a clock. I don't
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: even know what you're supposed to do with that. If
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: you screw up something that important that badly in the
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: real world, no one ever sees you again. But at
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: the very least, you have to account for your decision.
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: We get none of that. We get none of that.
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: This whole process is so cloaked in secrecy, it's insane,
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: and it's treated like it's a high-level military-type operation every week.
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: We are guarding nuclear codes here. We can't let the
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: public get access to these officials. We can't force these
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: people to give an account. Now, a 19-year-old quarterback, if
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: he screws up, he's going to go meet with the
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: media and And this coordinator or this head coach, if
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: they screw up, they're going to get grilled by the media.
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: And they've got to sit in front of a bunch
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: of reporters 20 minutes later after a cooling down period,
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: and they have to give an account for their performance.
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: Officials are already halfway to the airport, and most of
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: you don't know their names, and you certainly will never
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: get an explanation. The absolute most you'll get is, oh,
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: look at this, we got a release on Twitter. Oh,
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: we got a statement from the league office. They screwed up.
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: And then the following, which is not listed on the statement,
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: it should read, we screwed up, but nothing's going to change,
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: and the same people will be on the field next week. Awesome. Great.
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: And since there's no centralized authority here, no one can
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: really do anything about it. It's just like every other
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: bit of decision-making in college athletics. Who's going to do
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: something about it? Nobody. Why? Because nobody's in charge. And
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: the worst part is, game to game, you get no answers.
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: I would say, Good on some of these conferences, credit
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: where it's due, for taking the public behind the curtain
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: of the review process. But were you watching Miami, Florida
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: State last night? Florida State, Miami, say the road team first, kids.
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: The last play of the game. This is not even
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: to mention the egregious holding call that was made, which
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: is just stupid and shouldn't have happened. So Florida State
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: should have had a shot to tie that game up.
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: But even after that, the last play of the game,
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: you're watching it. And in real time, it's a bang,
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: bang play. And we can't really tell who comes down
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: with the ball. So they call interception. And then you
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: go back and you watch it. And you probably felt
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: the same way I did. If you're not a Miami fan,
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: you probably watched that and felt the same way everyone
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: else did. And that is, wait a second, did Deuce
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: catch that ball? I think He may have caught that
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: ball at the very least. It's not conclusive. Oh, hold on.
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: They're going to replay. They're going to replay. Good. And nowadays,
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: we get to listen to the replay. So everyone says,
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: quiet down, quiet down. And you turn the volume up
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: and you listen to the replay process. And it was
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: like listening to someone herd sheep. It was like listening
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: to one guy with the staff in his hand say, guys,
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: come over here. Need you to go in this pen
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: right here. And everyone else is like, it was just
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: a decision had been made. They said, all right, there's
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: the interception right there. And you're like, where's the interception?
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: If anything, I think I may see a catch here.
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: But at the very least, this guy's speaking in definitives.
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: And you're like, yes, yes, no, no, no, no, I
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: don't see that. No, what are you talking about? Surely
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: someone's going to step in here. And no one did.
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: So I do love that there's a little more transparency,
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: but sometimes when I see under the hood, it's even
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: uglier than if I'm left to just wonder what's happening.
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: So you'll get no answers. And I just always ask
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: coming out of it, how is nobody embarrassed enough by
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: this to seek change? I don't know what change you
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: could possibly implement other than I think that, yeah, maybe
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: this job is really hard, but I also think there
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: are enough qualified people out there. But if there aren't,
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: you've got to insert mechanisms better than what we have
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: right now. You've got to rethink the entire thing from
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: the floor up because you can't have... This much money invested.
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: Everyone's talking about money lately and how much money you
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: could make. Hey, good on you guys. Most of you
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: will never see a dime of it, but good on
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: a handful of people for getting rich off of this sport.
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: Don't you at least think the officiating mechanism, the rules
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: enforcement mechanism of this should stand up a little better
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: than it does? The attitude reeks of, hey, we're going
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: to make our money no matter what. Who really cares?
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: You know, if anything, controversy is better. You know what
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: Eric Bischoff would say about all this, bro.
- 1:17:02Speaker 2: Pow.
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: Controversy creates cash. Is that the strategy here? Just have
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: the officiating suck so bad people get mad about it?
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: I mean, this segment will probably do a lot of traffic,
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: so I guess maybe they're on to something. Just can't
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: believe it's that bad. Cannot believe it. All right. The
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: AP poll is out. Okay. The Week 8 AP poll
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: is upon us. And I woke up this morning and
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: I actually said several things to myself because yesterday was historic.
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: But one of the things I said is, I know
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: in about four or five hours around lunchtime, the AP
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: poll is going to drop. And I said, you got
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: to promise yourself one thing. You won't get overly angry
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: about this. So our boys at Ram, they deliver it.
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: There he goes right there. I'll never get it right.
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: They deliver it. So right there in the back of
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: that Ram truck, here's the AP poll. And I got angry,
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: but I've calmed myself enough, I think, to where I
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: can talk about this on air. First off, Wake Forest
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: is too low. I'm not even going to zero in
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: on them. I'm just saying right off the cuff, I
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: think Wake Forest is too low. Now, a lot of
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: you had a lot of things to say about this.
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: Miami's the new number one team in the country. Brigham
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: Young's right there, number two. Northwestern and Arizona are 24-25, respectively.
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: It seems like we get a metric ton of Notre
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: Dame reaction every week. Well, much to the delight of
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: a lot of the country, Notre Dame finally lost a
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: game last night. Notre Dame is at number four. Brigham
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: Young's two. Notre Dame's number four. And a lot of
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: people had a lot to say about that. Now, this
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: was bound to happen. Obviously, when you have a day
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: as cataclysmic for the top ten as yesterday was, everybody
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: has to fall so much that someone's not going to
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: fall enough to the public's delight. Well, Derek said Notre
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: Dame's still getting away with it without a ranked win
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: in two years. That kind of sums up what a
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: lot of the public felt about this. So Notre Dame
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: fell two spots for the record. They would have fallen
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: a lot further if all the other teams around them
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: didn't also lose. But a lot of people are looking
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: at this. I think rightfully so. There's at least merit
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: to this. There's not a through line or definitive anywhere
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: in college football right now. So I'll say there are
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: varying degrees of merit behind all these arguments. I think
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: a lot of folks look at Notre Dame and they
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: think they play a two-game season this year. To me, that's...
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: I'm not even going to get mad if you think
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: that way. I think maybe you need to dive in
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: a little bit further, but for broad strokes purposes, you're
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: kind of right. I think the Wisconsin wins a little
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: bit better than they got credit for. I think the
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: North Carolina wins a little bit better than they got
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: credit for in the future. SMU's a ranked team, and
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: no one's even talking about that game, but again, broad strokes, yes,
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: I agree, and if you feel that way, what you're
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: probably saying is, I didn't even have a problem with
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: Notre Dame being top five last week. However, there's disproportionate
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: emphasis on Notre Dame's big games. If they played seven
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: of them, you wouldn't care as much. But they got
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: two of them in the public's mind, and they just
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: lost the first one. And so there are folks who
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: don't even think Notre Dame should be in the top
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: 10 right now. And they're there because of their brand.
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: They're there because of their logo. I can't wholeheartedly disagree
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: with that. I probably wouldn't have them outside the top 10,
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: but I've already spoken my piece on Notre Dame. I
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: thought they were a really good team coming into the week.
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: There are certain teams that even though they haven't played
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: a murderer's row of a schedule, I kind of have
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: my own proclivity to bake in a little bit of
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: street cred with. So I think if I filled out
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: a ballot, I certainly wouldn't have them number four, but
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: I think I'd have them down in that seven, eight range.
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: I think that'd be fair. But if you don't think
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: they belong up there, you've certainly got an argument for that.
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: Next up, Ole Miss should be higher. Like Ole Miss,
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: according to the tweet here, always getting disrespected. And I
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: think Ole Miss did get a little overlooked. in this
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: week's poll. They're number seven. And Ole Miss just smoked Missouri, 31-3. Again,
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: it should be noted, Missouri is still ranked, even after that.
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: So the AP, according to their own rankings, Ole Miss
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: just smoked a top 20 team yesterday. They've already beaten LSU.
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: That's another top 20 team currently. They beat Louisville when
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: Louisville was perfect. They were flawless. It was the beginning
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: of the season. Those are three really good wins. The
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: con is they went and lost to Florida in the
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: biggest letdown spot of the year. And I don't know
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: if you've noticed, but that's kind of happening a lot
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: all over the conference and all over the country to
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: an extent right now. I firmly believe if Ole Miss'
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: logo was different, they'd be higher. So you've got every reason.
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: I think you're fully justified. I would have them no
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: lower than 4th. Miami, Brigham Young, if you want to
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: have Ohio State ahead of them, that's fine. But Ole
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: Miss absolutely should be ahead of Indiana. They ought to
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: be ahead of Georgia. They ought to be ahead of
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: Notre Dame. You'll never convince me otherwise. I know we
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: can't do this exercise, but I would just love to
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: see Alabama have Ole Miss's body of work right now.
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: Bama would be a slam dunk top four team because
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: of their logo. Did you see Pete Nacos' tweet, by
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: the way, about Oregon State? Yeah, there it is right there.
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: This was Nacos from earlier today. Text I just got
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: from a P4 head coach. Quote, ridiculous. Oregon State isn't
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: in the top 25. And Pete said he agreed. Opinion maker,
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: Pete Nacos. Look, I want Oregon State to be ranked.
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: I didn't even get the words out of my mouth
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: before Mitch just shot that down. Were you ashamed for
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: Arizona State there? Yeah. Oregon State, I want them to
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: be ranked. Let's just be fair here. I think a
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: lot of us have fallen in love with the Oregon
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: State story. And that's fine. I have too. However, you've
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: got to apply the logic equally, right? I think you do.
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure you're supposed to. So they lost to
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: Texas Tech in Houston. They've now won five in a row.
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: They've got one of the top offenses in the country.
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: But Jesse, correct me if I'm wrong. Even though I
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: think they surprised people with how close they played Texas
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: Tech in Houston... Those were both double-digit losses, right? So
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: people are looking at it now not from the standpoint
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: of a team that was expected to suck. We've got
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: to recalibrate how we talk about Oregon State now. If
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: you're going to apply the standard of a top 25 team,
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: you've got to look and you've got to ask yourself,
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: if Arizona... had two double-digit losses to those teams in
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: conference and otherwise had run it up on teams but
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: run it up on seemingly inferior teams, would Arizona be
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: in the top 25? They probably wouldn't be. They'd be close.
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: But look, I personally would love Oregon State to be
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: in the top 25, and it is one of the
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: stories of the year. But if you're going to remove
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: all the emotion from it, you can't let that cloud
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: your judgment here. You've got to apply the criteria equally. Miami,
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: number one in the country. Brigham Young number two. Jordan
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: hit us up and said, so BYU beats number two
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: at home while Miami has a struggle against an unranked
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: team and is rewarded with the number one spot. I
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: can't push back on this. I think I'd put Brigham
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: Young ahead of them. Have some fun with it. Brigham
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: Young earned it. Put them number one. Is that a
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: reflection of how volatile the top 25 is this year?
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: Of course it is. But like I said earlier in
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: the show, I've said like five times since yesterday, There's
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: no consistent theme right now. There's no what you would
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: call a through line. Like in years past in college football,
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: there were just a few things that you could set
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: your watch to, that you could just universally depend on.
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: We don't have that. It's like nailing Jell-O to the
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: wall every week. It's like you shake the little sand
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: inside the Etch-A-Sketch, and it's clean slate every week. We
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: totally have to reinvent that. the landscape every week. So
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: in that environment, yeah, Brigham Young should be number one. Why?
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: Because their resume is better than Miami as of yesterday.
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: That's what happens when you beat really good top five teams.
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: Here's how good Brigham Young's win was yesterday. They beat
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: a team and that team's still top four. That's how
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: good that team allegedly is. Jesse, what's Miami's best win
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: right now? I picked them to win the national title.
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: I don't doubt Miami, but if we're looking at resume
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: versus resume right now, and I got one of them
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: who just beat Notre Dame, and I got another whose
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: best win is Wake Forest at number 17, to me
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: that's a no-brainer. Knowing Miami and Notre Dame are going
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: to play down the road, so if you're projecting with
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: your vote, which you're not supposed to, then just stop
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: projecting and understand if You're sitting there thinking to yourself, man,
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: I credited Brigham Young for beating Notre Dame, but I
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: think Miami's going to beat Notre Dame. It doesn't matter
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: what you think's going to happen. Let the stuff play out.
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: Because unless one of you out there were perfect picking
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: these games yesterday, which I doubt anyone was, it doesn't
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: matter what you think is going to happen. That's not
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: what you should be doing with your vote. You should
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: be reacting, not predicting, with your vote. And lastly, Jeremy
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: wants to know why Texas is ranked over Florida. He said,
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: Texas being ranked after back-to-back losses by unranked opponents, yet
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: still being in front of the team that just beat
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: them in Austin. The AP is complete and total joke.
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: He said, JP greater than AP. I appreciate that, but
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: those two polls are not trying to do the same thing.
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: What you meant to say is the commissioner's poll is
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: better than the AP poll. Good point, Jeremy. I agree. So,
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: Texas and Florida. What are the cases here? One of
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: them's 19, one of them's 20. They played yesterday. The
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: team that's 20 beat number 19. Well, each of them
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: have two losses. I still think the voters can't shake
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: how ugly those Florida losses were to Missouri and South Carolina.
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: Those were blowout losses. Yes, you have the head-to-head result yesterday.
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: And I think if this was earlier in the year,
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: the head-to-head would be paramount. But once you get over
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: halfway through the season, the head-to-head result matters, certainly. But
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: you can't do your rankings like that anymore because you'll
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: just work yourself into a blender. If you honor every
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: head-to-head result, you will completely cook yourself trying to rank
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: this stuff. Ohio State win, that's the edge for Texas.
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: Ohio State's number three in the country right now. Texas
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: has a win over them. I don't really care how
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: you try and explain it away. That's a win over
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: a top three team. Has Texas looked very, very ineffective
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: since then? Yeah. Yeah. Are there losses to Oklahoma, unranked Oklahoma, and,
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: of course, Florida? Yeah. I just think the ugliness of
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: the Florida losses and how good that win for Texas
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: is in Week 1, I think that's what's carrying the
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: day for them. Good luck. If you work at FanDuel
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: right now, good luck setting these numbers. Jesse, did you
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: see Texas as a 3.5-point favorite against Ole Miss? That's
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: publicly available right now at FanDuel. the exclusive odds maker
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: of Pate State. So I want to remind you guys,
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: I do this like once a month. I want to
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: remind you halfway, a little over halfway through the season
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: right now. I know we have a lot of fun
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: with how we talk about betting on this show, how
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: we talk about lines on this show, point spreads on
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: this show. You've really got to make sure that you're
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: responsible about this. Every single year, you'll hear stories about people.
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: You'll know friends of yours. Maybe you yourself have gotten
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: yourself into a situation where where you've gotten yourself out
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: and your head's beneath water and you're betting on games
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: you don't need to be betting on, you're placing bets
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: you don't need to be placing, you are chasing action
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: that you really don't need to be chasing, that's a problem.
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: That's a problem. That is not how you should be
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: betting this stuff. And if that is you, stop. And
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: there are a lot of tools that You can talk
- 1:28:51Speaker 1: to buddies about it, but also at FanDuel, that entire
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: RG section, that responsible gaming section, I strongly advise every
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: one of you to use it. I use it. I
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: use the budget setter. There are a lot of RG
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: tools there. FanDuel.com slash play with a plan. At the
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: very least, go peruse those tools because smart money management
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: is the only way you're ever winning betting this stuff anyway.
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: You've got to be very, very disciplined and sound about it.
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: That's kind of why I always have a straight face
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: talking about this stuff. I don't do this for fun.
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: Like if I'm ever going to place a dime on
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: a game, I'm not doing it for fun. It's not, hey,
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: let's just see how this works out. And you got
- 1:29:30Speaker 1: to be disciplined or else you're probably not going to
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: be profitable long-term. But if you've gotten yourself into a situation, stop.
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: Just stop. Just take a break. And if you know
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: anyone else that's in that situation, denial can sometimes be
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: a big part of this. Okay, so tell them, Go
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: check these things out on their own time. But every
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: single one of you ought to be using those tools.
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: I don't care if you've had a great season so far. Okay,
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: let's go into Operation Keep the Money I've Won and
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: use those RG tools. This isn't just for people who
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: have had a losing year. This is for everyone who's

- 1:30:58Speaker 1: Noodle Express had its worst day of the season yesterday.
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: But we're still up on the year. And we have
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: got to have a better week in week eight, Jesse.
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: And where do we go and who do we turn
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: to when we need one, when we got to have one?
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: The UMass football program. That's where we turn. UMass is
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: plus 15 and a half. That's where the number opened.
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: I think like everyone we bet plus 15 and a
- 1:31:24Speaker 1: half yesterday came through, except for Arizona State. Arizona State
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: had a tough time yesterday. But that's on us. That's
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: our fault and Joey McGuire's fault. So we're staying far
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: away from that. We are going with UMass plus 15.5.
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: That is our first, but certainly not our last, best
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: bet of the week. I appreciate you guys watching so much.
