- 0:41Speaker 3: Good afternoon, everybody, and welcome to this week's episode of
- 0:44Speaker 3: Kats and Pudding and today. Oh my god, I have
- 0:47Speaker 3: such a great guest. I love her. I love her podcasts.
- 0:51Speaker 3: She has a new special coming out soon and I'm
- 0:55Speaker 3: so excited that she's here to talk about it. Miss
- 0:58Speaker 3: Candas Gordina is saying it right. I'm always Sordino.
- 1:01Speaker 4: I said it right now, you said it, kidding me.
- 1:04Speaker 4: I love it. I like what you say it.
- 1:06Speaker 3: Cordino, just put the hand in I have to put
- 1:09Speaker 3: the hands in it because we're Italian, of course, are
- 1:11Speaker 3: you all Italian?
- 1:12Speaker 4: I am one hundred percent Italian? What type of Italian? Well,
- 1:15Speaker 4: I'm Sicilian and Nomali done me too, So.
- 1:18Speaker 3: We could break your w ankles and keep you a
- 1:20Speaker 3: nice exactly, play the food, right.
- 1:22Speaker 4: We smile and stabut We're very good. We got the
- 1:26Speaker 4: best of both worlds. True. Oh my god, I love
- 1:29Speaker 4: how that you hear a person. So I thank you,
- 1:31Speaker 4: thank you for having me. This is so fun. Well,
- 1:33Speaker 4: I'm glad you hear. So tell us, tell us how
- 1:35Speaker 4: this all got started?
- 1:37Speaker 5: Oh gosh, absolutely, Well, I grew up in an Italian
- 1:39Speaker 5: American household. Uh, and everyone, everyone who comes and sees
- 1:43Speaker 5: me but perform, always says to me like, how do
- 1:45Speaker 5: you get your material?
- 1:46Speaker 4: And I'm like, well, first of all, don't we all
- 1:48Speaker 4: pull from how we grew up?
- 1:50Speaker 5: So I literally all of my material is just me
- 1:53Speaker 5: sitting in my mother's kitchen and just hearing the stories.
- 1:56Speaker 5: And I kind of was that kid that like wrote
- 1:57Speaker 5: everything down. So I knew, you know, early on that
- 2:00Speaker 5: performing was my thing. I did competitive dance as a
- 2:04Speaker 5: kid and growing up in Staten Island, and I did
- 2:06Speaker 5: theater at Wagner College, did a lot of tours, national tours,
- 2:10Speaker 5: off Broadway shows, and I was like, I know I'm
- 2:12Speaker 5: gonna do theater. Yeah, and I know I'm funny, but
- 2:14Speaker 5: I'm like, I don't think I'm a stand up comedian.
- 2:16Speaker 4: That didn't feel right. I don't want to like poke
- 2:18Speaker 4: fun at anybody. That's not my thing.
- 2:20Speaker 5: But I knew I wanted to create like a theatrical
- 2:22Speaker 5: experience when you walked into the theater. So when you
- 2:24Speaker 5: come and see me, you literally get I say, like
- 2:26Speaker 5: a full meal. I tell you stories, I impersonate all
- 2:29Speaker 5: the family members. I sing because I have a theatrical background,
- 2:32Speaker 5: and I combined it all and I started doing it
- 2:35Speaker 5: about oh my gosh, I want to say almost it's
- 2:38Speaker 5: ten years of a journey. And what I mean by
- 2:40Speaker 5: that is from start of figuring out like Okay, I'm
- 2:42Speaker 5: gonna kind of mold myself and feel my avenue out right,
- 2:46Speaker 5: Like my avenue was not always clear because it's like
- 2:49Speaker 5: what are you used stand up comedy?
- 2:50Speaker 4: Are you a theater girl?
- 2:51Speaker 5: Like what are you?
- 2:51Speaker 4: Are you a singer? At you? What are you right?
- 2:55Speaker 4: Because you know, people they want to like they want
- 2:57Speaker 4: to put you in a box. Yeah, And I didn't
- 2:59Speaker 4: have a box and that was such a thing for me.
- 3:01Speaker 4: And you notice that too on social media.
- 3:02Speaker 3: If you change and go off reil to something that
- 3:04Speaker 3: they used to seeing you do, they get pissed off,
- 3:07Speaker 3: and then what is that I got will get sold
- 3:10Speaker 3: because they get attached to you in one way, and
- 3:12Speaker 3: then if you do something else they don't Like I
- 3:14Speaker 3: got that.
- 3:14Speaker 5: Recently, I had a bunch of people commenting on a
- 3:17Speaker 5: post that I did, and they were because I actually
- 3:19Speaker 5: an article of mine just dropped today on the Huffington
- 3:21Speaker 5: Post where I talk about endometriosis because I do have it,
- 3:24Speaker 5: and I had a couple of people respond immediately being like,
- 3:27Speaker 5: we want your funny Italian mom.
- 3:29Speaker 4: Imitate your mother. It's funny, and I'm like, I love that,
- 3:32Speaker 4: but also, this is real, something's happened, and we share
- 3:35Speaker 4: stories and we're all storytellers. So yeah, I get that
- 3:38Speaker 4: for sure.
- 3:39Speaker 5: But this experience has been great so far, touring and
- 3:42Speaker 5: getting it out there, and but like putting myself not
- 3:44Speaker 5: in a box was something I had to push against
- 3:46Speaker 5: and sort of stay true and be like, this is
- 3:48Speaker 5: what I do, This is what I do, this is
- 3:50Speaker 5: what I do, and.
- 3:50Speaker 4: Keep telling myself it's Okay, it's okay.
- 3:52Speaker 5: Not everyone's gonna like it, but it's been it's been
- 3:55Speaker 5: a journey and I love it.
- 3:56Speaker 1: Now.
- 3:56Speaker 4: It's just you and the show just me. It does
- 3:59Speaker 4: a woman. It doesn't feel like it feels like your
- 4:01Speaker 4: multiple personalities.
- 4:04Speaker 5: I just did a show in South Carolina and a
- 4:06Speaker 5: bunch of people came up to me afterwards and they
- 4:08Speaker 5: were like, so, your mom, and they're talking to me
- 4:10Speaker 5: about and your dad and your grandmother and I'm like, yes, yes,
- 4:13Speaker 5: And some woman behind her was like, where are they
- 4:16Speaker 5: they were on stage with her, and I was like, no,
- 4:17Speaker 5: it's just me.
- 4:18Speaker 4: You know. It's the idea of you should.
- 4:20Speaker 5: You know Whoopy Goldberg and Lily Tomlin, those old school
- 4:23Speaker 5: you know, one woman theatrical entertainment hours. That to me
- 4:27Speaker 5: was how I always wanted to model myself as So
- 4:30Speaker 5: if you come and watch me and you're like, oh
- 4:32Speaker 5: my god, I forgot it's Candice, then I did my job.
- 4:36Speaker 4: Cara Burnette too, Carol Burnett. Of course.
- 4:38Speaker 5: It's it's the storytelling aspect of, you know, putting yourself
- 4:42Speaker 5: in other people's shoes and becoming those people. And what
- 4:44Speaker 5: better people to become than your family.
- 4:46Speaker 3: And your family it's so true for me. Who is
- 4:48Speaker 3: your favorite that you like to become.
- 4:51Speaker 4: I'd say my grandmother.
- 4:53Speaker 5: And the reason why is because, like she's not your
- 4:55Speaker 5: stereotypical like Italian grandmother. We always like here, people talk
- 4:58Speaker 5: about them and they're always like, oh, she's cranking out
- 5:00Speaker 5: Asanna's in the basement, and she's got a house dress,
- 5:02Speaker 5: she's got spike heels. But my grandma, excuse me, she's
- 5:05Speaker 5: got like one of those orthentedic shoes. But my grandmother
- 5:08Speaker 5: had the spike heels. Yes, my grandmother had sexy black
- 5:11Speaker 5: dress like that.
- 5:12Speaker 4: Was my grandmother.
- 5:13Speaker 3: My grandmother was not the typical Yes, my mother's mother
- 5:17Speaker 3: was not the typical Italian mother.
- 5:19Speaker 4: But my father's mother was the off the boat like
- 5:23Speaker 4: Ellis Island. Yes, the double chin.
- 5:26Speaker 3: She looked like one hundred and ten when she was fifty,
- 5:29Speaker 3: you know, like the whole thing. Yeah, we're black till
- 5:31Speaker 3: the day she died. But our grandma, now I never
- 5:34Speaker 3: knew that grandmother. The only grandmother I knew was my
- 5:37Speaker 3: fashion designer grandmother before her time. Yes, she worked for
- 5:40Speaker 3: Henry Bendall Oli Cassini. Yeah, so like she works with
- 5:44Speaker 3: Liz Claiborne and Liz Claiborne just started in the seventies.
- 5:48Speaker 3: So she was this person that like, this is my grandmother,
- 5:52Speaker 3: but she's still cooked. Yes, still the Italian grandmother's Sunday dinners,
- 5:56Speaker 3: you know, was still the same way.
- 5:58Speaker 4: But yet she was this other person.
- 6:00Speaker 3: So it's like so, but it's it's I didn't have
- 6:04Speaker 3: the typical Italian grandma like you had.
- 6:05Speaker 4: Either, did I? Like, I truly had one child my mother,
- 6:08Speaker 4: but I all had five of us.
- 6:10Speaker 5: This, oh my god, this was my grandmother. She only
- 6:12Speaker 5: had my father.
- 6:12Speaker 4: Wow, she didn't have a husband. I mean she had
- 6:14Speaker 4: the husband.
- 6:15Speaker 5: She left them, you know, she got a divorce, which
- 6:16Speaker 5: was like, you know, the Catholic Church wanted to kill
- 6:18Speaker 5: her for it. They did, and she was like, screw you.
- 6:21Speaker 5: But she was like, I'm telling you. The spike heels,
- 6:23Speaker 5: the sexy dresses. She had a facelift at sixty five,
- 6:26Speaker 5: when like that wasn't a thing to do, you know.
- 6:28Speaker 5: And I remember that and it was so impressionable on
- 6:31Speaker 5: me that imitating her on stage is so much fun
- 6:34Speaker 5: because it was always a cigarette.
- 6:35Speaker 4: That's always a scratchy voice.
- 6:37Speaker 5: And it had this intense sexuality about her that I
- 6:40Speaker 5: didn't see from anyone else.
- 6:41Speaker 4: So it was really cool. Yeah, that's cool, that's the character.
- 6:44Speaker 4: I love that.
- 6:44Speaker 3: So if I was interviewing her right now, and what
- 6:48Speaker 3: was your grandma's name.
- 6:49Speaker 4: Oh, Franny, Franny. I had a Loretta. My grandma was Loretta.
- 6:52Speaker 4: Love it Loretta. So if I said to Franny, how do.
- 6:55Speaker 3: You feel about doing these shows when you're when your
- 6:58Speaker 3: granddaughter was in person, what would she say to me?
- 7:01Speaker 4: So Frannie would take a drag.
- 7:02Speaker 6: She'd be like, she's perfection, perfection, nobody else does it. Better,
- 7:11Speaker 6: screw all these people, if they could do it, better,
- 7:14Speaker 6: get your ass up there.
- 7:15Speaker 4: Let me see you try it. Idea, I love it.
- 7:20Speaker 4: You have that.
- 7:21Speaker 5: Actually she would say that when I was a kid too,
- 7:23Speaker 5: she'd be like, ask.
- 7:24Speaker 4: These people, tell them to get up, Let's see if
- 7:26Speaker 4: they can do it. She always she'd always give you encouragement.
- 7:29Speaker 3: That was like my grandmother too, And she always said,
- 7:31Speaker 3: always have your row money, don't depend on her man.
- 7:33Speaker 4: Yes all the time, even though she was married to
- 7:36Speaker 4: my grandfather for seventy one years. I hear you.
- 7:39Speaker 3: They they met in day Campshire. We said I love
- 7:41Speaker 3: it and then yeah, but they were together toy. They
- 7:44Speaker 3: died they stayed together. It was so cute, so cute.
- 7:47Speaker 3: They were so but he worshiped.
- 7:49Speaker 4: Her and one of role models for you to love
- 7:51Speaker 4: it right. But she was a narcissist. Oh boy, Frannie
- 7:54Speaker 4: was too ancissist, very hard. Yes, always held you to
- 7:57Speaker 4: a high standard. I'm sure saw me too.
- 8:00Speaker 3: You know she said she thought you were fat, and
- 8:02Speaker 3: you were fat. She was telling you, Yeah, I just
- 8:04Speaker 3: got beaten. Yeah it doesn't fit. That don't fit none.
- 8:08Speaker 3: You can't wear that.
- 8:09Speaker 5: I laughed because I grew up in that kind of household,
- 8:12Speaker 5: even from my dad, which I think today, you know
- 8:15Speaker 5: people say like Italian.
- 8:16Speaker 4: Dad's very daughters, right, a lot of I.
- 8:19Speaker 5: Have a lot of friends that were like, oh, no,
- 8:20Speaker 5: I'm the princess, and I'm like wait, and mine never
- 8:23Speaker 5: had that. I was the first, I'm the first daughter.
- 8:25Speaker 5: My dad owned an or a body shop, coursetory from
- 8:27Speaker 5: Yankee Stadium. He was like, oh, learn how to you know,
- 8:29Speaker 5: change the tire? Oh, get down, let's There was no prince.
- 8:33Speaker 4: It was none of that. So I didn't grow up
- 8:35Speaker 4: with that feeling of got to.
- 8:37Speaker 3: Get married to get out of the house. Yes, she
- 8:39Speaker 3: had to be home at ten o'clock when she was
- 8:41Speaker 3: twenty one. Then always she got out was getting married.
- 8:44Speaker 4: That was it. That's how she got out.
- 8:45Speaker 5: Yes, my parents were strict, but they were very much.
- 8:48Speaker 5: Nothing was like you said, nothing was your amazing. No, no,
- 8:52Speaker 5: nothing was amazing. You're all right, get to work like
- 8:55Speaker 5: that was the energy they gave you.
- 8:56Speaker 4: The they told you could do anything. But they did.
- 9:00Speaker 3: They did tell you about your and yoursyncrasies and your fult.
- 9:04Speaker 5: Yes, you know, when I'm on tour, I'll come off
- 9:07Speaker 5: stage and I'll be in a different city. You know,
- 9:09Speaker 5: you're a little out of your elements in a different city.
- 9:11Speaker 5: If my dad comes or if he visits, because you
- 9:13Speaker 5: know he's gotta come, he's gonna you know, he's gonna
- 9:17Speaker 5: do with and he helps, and he'll be the first
- 9:19Speaker 5: one to be like great. So the second part, yeah
- 9:23Speaker 5: ship And I'm like thanks Dad.
- 9:24Speaker 4: Like you're just saying this is great, it's great.
- 9:27Speaker 3: Tell you flat out flat out to my first podcast.
- 9:30Speaker 3: I instead of them saying how wonderful I did on
- 9:33Speaker 3: my first podcast, I got critiqued from my brother's insists.
- 9:36Speaker 3: My brother insists that, well, why did you say that?
- 9:40Speaker 3: What do you mean by I'm not saying it was
- 9:42Speaker 3: a joke.
- 9:43Speaker 4: It was a joke. Why did I say that? That's
- 9:45Speaker 4: not right? What I know, dude, If you don't like
- 9:49Speaker 4: what I'm saying, I don't watch it. I don't know
- 9:50Speaker 4: what to tell you.
- 9:51Speaker 5: Please, I feel you. I posted a video the other
- 9:53Speaker 5: day and my sister goes.
- 9:54Speaker 4: Was that about me? I was like, no, Well, first
- 9:57Speaker 4: of all, why don't you. I didn't even say your name,
- 9:59Speaker 4: And I am take my sister on the show. I
- 10:01Speaker 4: impersonate her, and.
- 10:01Speaker 5: I feel like she must like it would not like
- 10:05Speaker 5: it's it's twofold. She'll sit there and she be like,
- 10:07Speaker 5: I'm the best part of the show.
- 10:11Speaker 4: When it dropped on Amazon, the oldest. I'm the oldest
- 10:14Speaker 4: and she's the younger one.
- 10:15Speaker 5: So when she when it dropped on Amazon and the
- 10:17Speaker 5: news came out, and it was like it should be
- 10:18Speaker 5: this big exciting thing because I've been working really hard
- 10:21Speaker 5: for this or whatever, and she called.
- 10:22Speaker 4: Me and goes, so are you like famous? Now do
- 10:25Speaker 4: I have to worry about this? And I'm like you,
- 10:28Speaker 4: what do you mean? What do you have to worry about?
- 10:29Speaker 4: Like it was just the reaction of like, you know,
- 10:32Speaker 4: little sister energy, how many of there are it's just
- 10:35Speaker 4: the two of us, two of y'all. Yeah.
- 10:37Speaker 5: As my father said to me the other day, he's like,
- 10:38Speaker 5: we stopped it two And I said what I said,
- 10:41Speaker 5: damn curious why did you?
- 10:41Speaker 4: Cause you were perfect? What you would think? I was like,
- 10:44Speaker 4: why'd you stop it too? He goes, you're kidding me.
- 10:46Speaker 4: It's a million dollars a kid to raise a kid today?
- 10:49Speaker 4: So he was too expensive. Sent me over the edge.
- 10:53Speaker 4: I have one. I have a literally literally a little
- 10:57Speaker 4: one and a half year old, and I'm.
- 10:58Speaker 5: Like, this is tough right now, right now, I.
- 11:01Speaker 4: Know how old if you don't want to be asking
- 11:02Speaker 4: how old am I? Yeah, just turn forty? Oh bless
- 11:06Speaker 4: you in forty Yeah having another baby? Having a baby, yeah.
- 11:09Speaker 5: No, no, no, well it was a seven year journey.
- 11:13Speaker 5: So being in your forties having a toddler.
- 11:15Speaker 4: It's a lot. It's a lot. It's a lot.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:20Speaker 3: I had my first to twenty one and then my
- 11:23Speaker 3: last one at thirty five. Oh, doing a big, a
- 11:25Speaker 3: big difference. See, I don't have no reference.
- 11:27Speaker 5: I didn't have a child at twenty one, but we tried,
- 11:30Speaker 5: and I was like thirty four.
- 11:32Speaker 4: When we tried.
- 11:33Speaker 5: Yeah, eight nine year journeys have IVF oh I had
- 11:36Speaker 5: twelve failed rounds of IVF I had oh gosh, I
- 11:41Speaker 5: had thirteen or fourteen failed iuis. I had two endometriosis
- 11:47Speaker 5: surgeries seven five. I mean I went through the gamut
- 11:50Speaker 5: also too, to discover it wasn't so much. After a while,
- 11:53Speaker 5: the journey turned into not about getting pregnant, not about
- 11:56Speaker 5: a baby. It turned into what's going on with my body?
- 11:58Speaker 4: Right? What's my health? How did you feel like the
- 12:01Speaker 4: when you calmed down you got pregnant?
- 12:03Speaker 5: In some aspect, yes, my calming down were Italian. I
- 12:07Speaker 5: don't necessarily calm down how to come and by the way,
- 12:09Speaker 5: you know when someone says, do you calmed down?
- 12:12Speaker 3: The last calm down?
- 12:18Speaker 5: So I didn't have like the moment of like I'm calm,
- 12:21Speaker 5: but I did have the fuck.
- 12:23Speaker 4: It, I'm done.
- 12:24Speaker 5: Sorry, you can edit that out. I did have the
- 12:28Speaker 5: I'm done, and I was like, I'm done. I'm probably
- 12:31Speaker 5: gonna adopt. I had the adoption papers and.
- 12:33Speaker 4: My husband was the one who went, let's just wait
- 12:35Speaker 4: another month. I said, he's nuts.
- 12:37Speaker 5: I'm done.
- 12:37Speaker 4: I'm done with the surgeries, all the needles, the drugs,
- 12:40Speaker 4: all of it. I'm done. And then about two months
- 12:42Speaker 4: later I got pre say that's what always happens.
- 12:44Speaker 3: I was a labor and a delivery nurse first before
- 12:46Speaker 3: I became I'm adopted now, but I was, and I
- 12:50Speaker 3: could tell you that I seen it so many times
- 12:52Speaker 3: with women that once they calmed down and they didn't
- 12:55Speaker 3: think about it.
- 12:56Speaker 4: So much and put so much pressure, all of a
- 12:57Speaker 4: sudden I got pregnant. It just you know, it's one.
- 13:00Speaker 4: It's honestly, I swear to God. It's mystical, and I
- 13:02Speaker 4: think it's when God.
- 13:03Speaker 3: And I don't want to bring religion into it, but
- 13:05Speaker 3: I am going to bring religion into it. God, if
- 13:07Speaker 3: you want you to get pregnant, He's gonna get get pregnant. Yeah,
- 13:10Speaker 3: it's a mystical thing.
- 13:11Speaker 4: It is. And you know what's funny, I messed with it.
- 13:14Speaker 4: I feel like it doesn't come to pass.
- 13:16Speaker 5: And I think my journey was a little bit messing
- 13:18Speaker 5: with it in the sense of I was searching and searching.
- 13:21Speaker 5: I did every mystical healer thing possible. The shaman, the
- 13:24Speaker 5: psych gets to it. Because you're searching, You're like, what,
- 13:27Speaker 5: because you see this thing, You're like, I saw this
- 13:29Speaker 5: vision I was supposed to be a mom at thirty five, yeah,
- 13:32Speaker 5: not forty something, Like all of a sudden, here I
- 13:34Speaker 5: am with this toddler. Like I didn't think that. I
- 13:37Speaker 5: didn't think that was me.
- 13:38Speaker 4: But now that it is, it's almost sort of perfect.
- 13:41Speaker 5: Yeah, because I said to my husband the other day,
- 13:43Speaker 5: I was like, I don't think we would have been that.
- 13:45Speaker 4: We weren't the right parents at thirty two. We just weren't.
- 13:48Speaker 5: So now here we are and we're like, you know,
- 13:50Speaker 5: getting up off the floor and I'm like, oh, my back.

- 15:08Speaker 4: Job it's so hard and balancing it. All it is.
- 15:11Speaker 4: Insane it is so are you working all the? Time,
- 15:13Speaker 4: YEAH i tour a.
- 15:14Speaker 5: LOT i Luckily i'm not every day, performing So i'm
- 15:19Speaker 5: once every two, weeks So i'm in and out of.
- 15:21Speaker 5: Town baby comes with us every now and. Then we
- 15:25Speaker 5: just came back From florida a month. Ago he was with.
- 15:27Speaker 5: Us we had to stop At disney because you, know we're,
- 15:29Speaker 5: there but it Was it's fun having. Him BUT i have,
- 15:32Speaker 5: to you, know pick and. Choose but for, sure it's
- 15:34Speaker 5: not every Minute i'm. Performing but If i'm not, Performing
- 15:37Speaker 5: i'm usually. WRITING i do a lot of writing FOR
- 15:38Speaker 5: tv and. Film so that's been a blessing because you
- 15:41Speaker 5: can write from, home right AND i have home, office
- 15:44Speaker 5: so that's. Good And grandma comes over and can handle the,
- 15:46Speaker 5: baby so that's. Fun that's.
- 15:48Speaker 4: Fun, Yeah so what have what kind of shows do
- 15:50Speaker 4: you write?
- 15:51Speaker 2: For?
- 15:51Speaker 4: All, like have you written any shows that have been ON?
- 15:53Speaker 5: Tv i've punched up a lot of scripts that have
- 15:56Speaker 5: been ON, tv BUT i don't necessarily know if you
- 15:58Speaker 5: know anything That i've written, personally because as in the
- 16:01Speaker 5: and i'd say In hollywood is a lot of you sold,
- 16:04Speaker 5: it which is, great and.
- 16:05Speaker 4: Then they shelve it and you're, like, WELL i don't
- 16:07Speaker 4: know if this is going to get.
- 16:08Speaker 5: Made So i'm still waiting for hopefully two things that
- 16:11Speaker 5: maybe we'll get. Made AND i have a few projects
- 16:14Speaker 5: in development That i'm excited. About so hopefully that all
- 16:16Speaker 5: they'll come to. Fruition, yeah it's it's been an exciting.
- 16:19Speaker 4: Journey but any background on them, Yet, YEAH i can
- 16:22Speaker 4: give you.
- 16:23Speaker 5: ONE i do going back since we were on the grandmother,
- 16:26Speaker 5: Kick i'll go back to my. Grandmother she did have
- 16:29Speaker 5: some journals THAT i found from the. Fifties, WOW i,
- 16:32Speaker 5: know revealed some amazing things about her crazy past That
- 16:36Speaker 5: i'm now putting into hopefully some sort of either film
- 16:41Speaker 5: OR tv show That i'm in conversations. With So i'm
- 16:44Speaker 5: really excited about.
- 16:45Speaker 4: That that's.
- 16:45Speaker 5: Amazing and her, journey for someone who you, know grew
- 16:48Speaker 5: up in the fifties and sixties was. Crazy she Dated Frank,
- 16:51Speaker 5: Sinatra she had a crazy, background being a single woman
- 16:55Speaker 5: trying to fight for her life to stay. Alive so
- 16:58Speaker 5: it's a really interesting journey that she who would ever
- 17:01Speaker 5: know she documented. It but it was even funnier is my.
- 17:04Speaker 5: Parents my father obviously it's his. Mother he had no. Idea,
- 17:08Speaker 5: oh whatever's in the? Attic they had a. LEAK i
- 17:10Speaker 5: had to go clean the attic and HERE i find all.
- 17:12Speaker 4: This i'm, like you, guys could nobody threw it? Out?
- 17:16Speaker 4: True i'm, like you got gold up. Here i'm, like
- 17:17Speaker 4: what we got in this? Box you? Know and they
- 17:19Speaker 4: didn't even. Know And dad was, like oh, yeah when she,
- 17:21Speaker 4: died we put in a. Box i'm, like oh my.
- 17:23Speaker 4: God so now it's been.
- 17:24Speaker 5: It's been kind of exciting exploring and developing All how
- 17:27Speaker 5: does your dad.
- 17:27Speaker 4: Feel about using, this using your grandmother's.
- 17:31Speaker 5: Life he's, funny you, know he didn't know his father very.
- 17:35Speaker 5: WELL i never knew my, grandfather so he was the.
- 17:37Speaker 5: Type he's the type of person to be, like you,
- 17:39Speaker 5: know what can if it's supposed to.
- 17:40Speaker 4: Be, told you tell. It so he's very okay with.
- 17:43Speaker 5: IT a lot of it is really dark about my,
- 17:45Speaker 5: grandfather BUT i didn't know. Him he didn't know, him
- 17:48Speaker 5: and he, goes if that's the, truth and then we
- 17:49Speaker 5: got to tell. It so my dad's pretty good with.
- 17:52Speaker 5: IT i get critiques WHEN i perform. Him he's, like
- 17:55Speaker 5: that's not HOW i say, things that's not WHAT i.
- 17:57Speaker 3: Do but you, know it's how you, perceive he, said
- 18:00Speaker 3: that's what you have to tell them.
- 18:01Speaker 4: Say maybe that's not.
- 18:02Speaker 3: How everybody has their own perception and their own, truth,
- 18:05Speaker 3: Right it's. TRUE i SAW i was watching a movie
- 18:07Speaker 3: in the, line and there was this GREAT i DO i.
- 18:10Speaker 3: DO i do production, too AND i also, write AND
- 18:12Speaker 3: i sing, too AND i ACT.
- 18:14Speaker 4: I do, IT i do it. TOO i love. It
- 18:15Speaker 4: SO i was watching this movie that.
- 18:16Speaker 3: Night there was a great line and it was there
- 18:18Speaker 3: was somebody they was talking. About it was their father's,
- 18:22Speaker 3: funeral and and they were talking about how they were
- 18:24Speaker 3: at their father's funeral and there was this, uh pickled,
- 18:28Speaker 3: salmon and they were, LIKE I. A i kept thinking
- 18:30Speaker 3: was HOW i hated why father hated pickle? Salmon and
- 18:33Speaker 3: why was it? There and then she, said but you know,
- 18:35Speaker 3: what somebody else might have the perception.
- 18:38Speaker 4: That they loved.
- 18:39Speaker 3: It SO i kind of thought about that and, said
- 18:42Speaker 3: you know, what that's such and that's such a great
- 18:44Speaker 3: way of putting things because people have their own way
- 18:46Speaker 3: of remembering certain, people so you that's how you perceive.
- 18:51Speaker 4: Them that's such a good, point, Right.
- 18:53Speaker 3: That's how your memories are going to be different because
- 18:55Speaker 3: that's how you received it right hundred.
- 18:57Speaker 5: Percent AND i think that's WHY i fell in love with,
- 19:00Speaker 5: writing because also, TOO i never wanted to forget, anything
- 19:04Speaker 5: like everything we grew up, with every STORY i, HEARD
- 19:07Speaker 5: i never wanted to forget, it BUT i Think i'm
- 19:09Speaker 5: of course interpreting it through my, aunts. Right, SO i,
- 19:12Speaker 5: mean my grandmother was this incredible, woman but she did
- 19:15Speaker 5: suffer from dementia later later in life and started to.
- 19:18Speaker 5: Forget AND i remember witnessing that AND i had this
- 19:21Speaker 5: moment EARLY i must have been eighteen or so WHERE
- 19:24Speaker 5: i was, Like.
- 19:24Speaker 4: I'm not gonna forget, anything SO i started writing everything.
- 19:27Speaker 4: DOWN i still feel like that. Today i'm, like not
- 19:29Speaker 4: gonna forget.
- 19:29Speaker 5: THAT i buy my parents those grandparent books that say, like,
- 19:33Speaker 5: right tell us your story that they push On, facebook
- 19:36Speaker 5: Those etsy books that are like The, Journal and my mom's,
- 19:38Speaker 5: Like i'm not writing. It i'm like, Please she's LIKE
- 19:40Speaker 5: i don't. Care can you tell She i'm gonna? Record,
- 19:43Speaker 5: nah she ain't get. It record you can, Record you
- 19:46Speaker 5: can do all these. Things they are not gonna it's
- 19:48Speaker 5: gonna be. Me that's gonna be gonna be me that does.
- 19:50Speaker 5: It but it's, true there's some element of LIKE i
- 19:51Speaker 5: don't want to, forget and it's through our eyes how
- 19:54Speaker 5: we see.
- 19:54Speaker 4: It so, yes you're you're one hundred percent it's so.
- 19:56Speaker 4: True how through through our? Eyes now do you? Also?
- 20:00Speaker 4: So so you tour all over the. Country.
- 20:01Speaker 5: Yeah, WOW i haven't Done canada Or australia, yet But
- 20:05Speaker 5: i've been getting some, requests so maybe maybe i'll hit
- 20:08Speaker 5: that that. AVENUE i haven't done it, yet But i've
- 20:10Speaker 5: been all over The United, states which is.
- 20:12Speaker 4: Great love.
- 20:12Speaker 5: It AND i can't tell your family's family every like
- 20:15Speaker 5: CITY i go, to every STATE i go, TO i
- 20:16Speaker 5: always have this little inkling before going out Where i'm, like, oh,
- 20:19Speaker 5: crap are they gonna get? It are they gonna understand my?
- 20:22Speaker 5: Family and then of a SUDDEN i get out there
- 20:23Speaker 5: and Then i'm, like oh my, god you don't have
- 20:24Speaker 5: to Be. Italian, no people are rolling because it's.
- 20:27Speaker 4: Family it's. Family it doesn't.
- 20:29Speaker 3: Matter like if somebody was talking to somebody's a person
- 20:31Speaker 3: from The south that was talking about, there they're they're,
- 20:34Speaker 3: granny they or, whatever we would think it's funny because
- 20:37Speaker 3: we would put it into our our own. Thing oh my,
- 20:40Speaker 3: god Maybe david there from The. South but yet, yeah
- 20:43Speaker 3: my grandma could be.
- 20:43Speaker 4: A pain in the s. Too so it's so. True
- 20:45Speaker 4: you kill you still relate to. It it's so. True
- 20:48Speaker 4: and that's the because it's a multi generational relating.
- 20:51Speaker 5: To me right And i'm such A oh, God i'm
- 20:53Speaker 5: such a fan of multi generational because that's that's our.
- 20:55Speaker 4: Household well That's. Italian that's so, true, Right but there's a, lot.
- 20:59Speaker 3: But there is a lot out Of there are a
- 21:01Speaker 3: lot of cultures that are like, one you, know AND
- 21:04Speaker 3: i think people surrounded by family and religion and certain.
- 21:08Speaker 4: Things called them. Together you're gonna see that multi.
- 21:10Speaker 3: Generational you see, That and that's WHERE i think bonds all.
- 21:14Speaker 4: Humans if they WRITE i love, IT i think it's
- 21:17Speaker 4: a friend of. Mine it.
- 21:18Speaker 3: Does she's a comedian and she. Does she's she's From,
- 21:21Speaker 3: india and when you talk when she talks about, her
- 21:24Speaker 3: you know how the parents are on the grandparents and
- 21:26Speaker 3: they try to marry her off and all this, stuff
- 21:28Speaker 3: and it's so just it's so funny because even though
- 21:32Speaker 3: like maybe our parents but we kind of did the same.
- 21:34Speaker 4: Thing it was kind of like.
- 21:35Speaker 3: Even though they didn't like like give us an arranged,
- 21:37Speaker 3: marriage they was kind of an arranged marriage because they
- 21:40Speaker 3: make you meet the person.
- 21:41Speaker 4: That they kind of want you to. Marry so it's
- 21:44Speaker 4: kind of like the.
- 21:44Speaker 5: Same it's the same, thing, right they kind of push it.
- 21:49Speaker 3: That that tony that you got to marry, him a nice,
- 21:54Speaker 3: family like not to have them over For sunday, dinner, right,
- 21:58Speaker 3: True so you, know but when you have that, relation
- 22:01Speaker 3: the multi, GENERATIONAL i think that most people can relate to,
- 22:04Speaker 3: it which is.
- 22:04Speaker 4: Good AND i feel Love. Italians people Love.
- 22:06Speaker 5: ITALIANS i mean either you are An, italian you know An,
- 22:10Speaker 5: italian you want to be An. ITALIAN i always got
- 22:11Speaker 5: that AND i still kind of get. That And i'm
- 22:13Speaker 5: so proud of Being. ITALIAN i mean we. Should we
- 22:15Speaker 5: should all be proud of what we've come. From AND
- 22:17Speaker 5: i say that often When i'm on. Stage it is like,
- 22:19Speaker 5: listen you don't have to like What i'm, saying but
- 22:21Speaker 5: it's What i'm from and it's what i want to,
- 22:23Speaker 5: express And i'm excited to connect to anyone in the.
- 22:27Speaker 5: Audience it's about human. Connection and my biggest thing with
- 22:29Speaker 5: the show is that there's usually an eight year, old
- 22:33Speaker 5: an eighty year, old an eighteen year, old one hundred
- 22:35Speaker 5: and eight year, old like what any age bracket can
- 22:37Speaker 5: sit in the audience and watch the show and enjoy.
- 22:40Speaker 5: It i'm not, overly you, know, sexual or anything that's
- 22:44Speaker 5: so like oh my, god that you can't enjoy the.
- 22:47Speaker 5: Show AND i got a lot of flat from that in,
- 22:49Speaker 5: beginning especially with bookers and. Stuff they were, like you
- 22:51Speaker 5: need to be more, controversial you would book, more you
- 22:53Speaker 5: would book, More And i'm, like, yeah but that's not
- 22:55Speaker 5: who's WHO i.
- 22:56Speaker 3: AM i don't want to be controversial just to be
- 22:58Speaker 3: why SO i sell more.
- 22:59Speaker 4: TICKETS i wouldn't be real.
- 23:01Speaker 5: Right, Exactly and LIKE i don't get up on there
- 23:03Speaker 5: and like pick audience members out and rank on.
- 23:06Speaker 1: Them.
- 23:06Speaker 4: Right if, ANYTHING i make fun of. Myself it's just
- 23:08Speaker 4: HOW i. AM i don't never want to make anyone feel.
- 23:11Speaker 5: BAD i always want to make the audience feel good
- 23:12Speaker 5: and feel like they've been on a journey and like
- 23:14Speaker 5: feel like we've just sort of all had this experience.
- 23:17Speaker 4: Together so, YEAH i got black in the, beginning BUT
- 23:18Speaker 4: i was, like you know, what this is WHO i.
- 23:20Speaker 4: Am take it or leave. It i'd love to see
