• 1:35
Speaker 2: Yes, I understand, couldn't help you on that Play along at home.
• 1:38
Speaker 2: If you can figure that out, yeah.
• 1:40
Speaker 1: You'd have to just spell it out.
• 1:42
Speaker 1: That's what we did.
• 1:43
  Speaker 1: All right, phonetically.
• 1:44
Speaker 1: So why don't we start with some recalls?
• 1:46
Speaker 1: We always have recalls.
• 1:47
Speaker 1: Okay, honda's got a bunch of them for the 2023 through 2025 models Accords, civics and Hybrids High-pressure fuel pump may leak.
• 1:58
Speaker 1: Now, that's not a good thing.
• 2:03
Speaker 1: You're going to have that fuel pump going kind of like one of those sprinklers that you use for your front yard.
• 2:08
Speaker 1: Okay, high pressure fuel pump.
• 2:13
Speaker 3: As opposed to the low pressure fuel pump.
• 2:15
Speaker 1: Well yeah, Like you used to have on your Chevy straight six Like a drip.
• 2:19
Speaker 1: Well yeah, but I mean it wasn't much you would know about that.
• 2:25
Speaker 1: Toyota Motor Engineering and Manufacturing is recalling the Toyota Sequoia hybrid, the Tundra and the Tundra hybrid for 24 because of damaged tire sidewall.
• 2:40
  Speaker 1: What?
• 2:41
Speaker 1: That's what it says.
• 2:43
Speaker 3: Scraping the curbs coming off the assembly line.
• 2:45
Speaker 2: Well, tires are made with a rim protector built in, but that doesn't always work, depending on your velocity going into it.
• 2:51
Speaker 2: Yeah, your velocity that's right.
• 2:54
Speaker 1: Loss of steering from the front control arm because of separation.
• 2:58
Speaker 1: That's not good, martha.
• 3:01
Speaker 1: I ain't turning the car the way it's supposed to go there.
• 3:05
Speaker 1: We don't know what happened.
• 3:06
Speaker 1: Hands on the wheel like driving on ice.
• 3:08
Speaker 1: Yeah, so there's that for the Ford Bronco 24 to 25.
• 3:13
Speaker 1: Wow, mustang Mach-E Loss of power brake assist.
• 3:17
Speaker 1: I assume you could still stop it without the power, the booster.
• 3:21
Speaker 3: Maybe power the booster and more damaged sidewall on the mercedes-benz amg glb35 and the glb250 for 2025 no it, what so?
• 3:36
Speaker 1: so it's a recall, because the tires have damaged sidewalls.
• 3:37
Speaker 1: I guess that it must have been some sort of manufacturing defect, but how did it get out of the tire manufacturing facility?
• 3:43
Speaker 1: And then, how did it get out of the on manufacturing facility?
• 3:44
Speaker 3: And then how did it get out of the Onto a car?
• 3:46
  Speaker 1: Those things happen.
• 3:47
Speaker 3: And then get out of the assembly factory and then how to get to the dealer and how to get out of the dealer.
• 3:54
Speaker 1: Apparently it didn't go pop.
• 3:55
Speaker 1: You know, it might have a flop, flop, flop, flop, flop on the tire as you roll down the street.
• 4:02
Speaker 3: I don't know Somebody would say, flop, flop on the tire as you roll down the street.
• 4:05
Speaker 3: I don't know Somebody would say, ooh, there's a new set of tires that's $1,000 that they could have sold.
• 4:09
Speaker 3: Well, they're just Listen.
• 4:14
Speaker 1: Never mind, there was a.
• 4:16
Speaker 1: You know I'm on a Corvette forum and so I get these notifications and somebody will post on Facebook because I'm on that thing too for Corvettes about problems that they're having with their C5 Corvette.
• 4:29
Speaker 1: I didn't sign up for all the other ones, just the C5.
• 4:35
Speaker 1: And somebody had this whole thing about tires.
• 4:38
Speaker 1: What kind of tires should I buy?
• 4:41
Speaker 1: Well, there's only so many that are available for that size on that car right.
• 4:45
Speaker 1: And man, some of these guys are really passionate about, you know, the niddos, the michelins, the good year, whatever it is that they're into.
• 4:56
Speaker 1: Oh, don't buy that other one.
• 4:58
Speaker 1: That thing's not worth a darn.
• 5:00
  Speaker 1: Really, why not?
• 5:02
  Speaker 1: Really, why not?
• 5:04
Speaker 1: I mean, it's truly amazing how passionate they are about a brand of tire.
• 5:08
Speaker 1: I guess back in the day, way back in the day, I was a Goodyear guy.
• 5:13
Speaker 1: Then I wised up and went you know I'm not getting the wear on this tire that I should and I paid a lot of money for it.
• 5:22
Speaker 3: Well, my dad worked at Goodyear so he got a little bit of a discount.
• 5:25
Speaker 3: So we were all Goodyear people until he retired.
• 5:28
Speaker 3: And that's when I learned ooh, michelins are pretty good tires too, what do you think?
• 5:32
Speaker 1: Jeff, you're the tire guy.
• 5:33
Speaker 2: Michelin was the go-to tire to fix all your drivability issues.
• 5:36
  Speaker 2: Why was that?
• 5:37
Speaker 2: Because it was a high-quality, high-engineered tire and they high engineered tire and they stood behind it and they're still.
• 5:47
  Speaker 2: They're still.
• 5:48
Speaker 2: I was gonna say I sure I think that they still do well, they still, all of them do.
• 5:49
Speaker 2: Uh, but it used to be.
• 5:50
Speaker 2: There was a big variance between the quality of, say, like a uniroil goodyear bridgestone, and then there was a big gap up to the michelin brand.
• 5:59
Speaker 2: That gap has now over the past I would say 10, 15 years has gone to like a little pencil thinthin line.
• 6:04
Speaker 2: There in that pencil-thin line is all the quality.
• 6:08
Speaker 2: It used to be a big, big difference.
• 6:11
Speaker 2: There was a big differentiate.
• 6:12
Speaker 1: So let me ask you this, speaking of which you know you can go the good, better, best route and I use it as an example because most of the time I always check with discount, because typically they have the best price and you can get there and have it done, no hassle, all that stuff, and they carry a good, better, best line, yeah.
• 6:30
Speaker 1: And so the good is usually some brand that I've never heard of, theirs, I assume.
• 6:36
  Speaker 1: Yeah, house brand.
• 6:36
Speaker 1: Yeah, house brand, but it's made by, I would imagine, the same manufacturers that manufacture everything else.
• 6:44
Speaker 2: A perfect example is you've got, say, a Goodyear tire and you're at a discount tire or maybe a Goodyear store buying that tire.
• 6:53
Speaker 2: There are slight differences because Goodyear manufactures for their premium brands, which are the Goodyear stores, and then maybe a discount tire and then below that would be a Walmart or a Sam's Club or one of the big box stores like that Right when they don't put an emphasis.
• 7:09
Speaker 2: Maybe the tread pattern is a little different or the sipes are different.
• 7:12
Speaker 2: That's the way they engineer the tire.
• 7:14
Speaker 2: If you're going to buy a premium tire, we're going to give you the whole shoe batch and then if you want to carry on to that or get on the coattails, well we're not going to give you that because that's a proprietary that word for that brand.
• 7:30
Speaker 2: So we're going to back off a little bit of the engineering, maybe change this because there's trademarks and things involved in that.
• 7:34
Speaker 2: So you can get a Goodyear from a lot of different places, but it's not quite the same Goodyear.
• 7:40
Speaker 1: So if you want the big Goodyear, go to a Goodyear store.
• 7:45
Speaker 2: Go to a Goodyear store Michelin.
• 7:46
Speaker 2: Go to someone that actually deals with Michelin, not just hey, I've got a Michelin, I've got a Bridgestone.
• 7:51
Speaker 2: They're carrying all the varieties Like a grocery store carries all the brands Right right.
• 7:55
Speaker 1: That's good if you want to do that, I mean it's all affordability, your budget, uh, I was I like to refer to it as no different than going into the cottage cheese department at heb.
• 8:09
Speaker 1: There you've got the borden, there you've got the heb, and then you got the hill country.
• 8:14
Speaker 1: Fair, yeah, you got all that stuff and that's price.
• 8:17
Speaker 2: Tier one, tier two, tier three and then occasionally something goes on sale and the manufacturers still have the ride and drive free for 30 days.
• 8:25
Speaker 2: If you're not satisfied in the 30 days, bring it back, we'll change out the brand.
• 8:29
Speaker 2: We're not going to upgrade you because if we do that you're going to have to pay more, but they'll put you in a like brand of that tire for that price.
• 8:35
Speaker 3: They still do that.
• 8:35
Speaker 3: I didn't realize that we always had to go to the Goodyear store because that's where they honored the Goodyear discount for the employees.
• 8:44
Speaker 3: And so I mean, that's just what we did.
• 8:46
Speaker 3: I didn't realize that we were actually getting a better tire per se or a different tire than if we went to discount.
• 8:52
Speaker 2: I look at it as a better tire.
• 8:53
  Speaker 2: Other folks don't.
• 8:54
Speaker 2: Other folks look at their pocketbook, which is fine too.
• 8:56
Speaker 2: I used to be a big fan of buying what came on that car, but over the years and seeing how the engineering and seeing how all the manufacturers work and the retail side of it and what people really want to afford, it's not necessarily true.
• 9:10
Speaker 1: Well, if you go to the Goodyear store, though, let's say you've got a, you know, 2015 Impala Did they make that in 2015?
• 9:18
Speaker 1: Anyway, you got a 2015 Impala.
• 9:21
Speaker 1: Okay, so here's the top of the line Goodyear, but it's that size.
• 9:25
Speaker 1: And then there is a medium priced Goodyear in that size, and then you've got the entry level.
• 9:33
Speaker 2: But look at it this way You've got General Motors, you've got your Cadillac brand, you've got your Chevrolet brand and your Buick and all that.
• 9:40
Speaker 2: Those are the levels, those are the good, better, best of that brand.
• 9:43
Speaker 2: Same principle, it's the same design.
• 9:46
  Speaker 1: Okay.
• 9:46
Speaker 1: Well, at any rate, some of these tire guys are really passionate about their brand.
• 9:51
Speaker 1: I know that Nitto.
• 9:53
Speaker 1: When it came into the market, oh my God, I've got to have my Nittos.
• 9:56
  Speaker 3: Yes.
• 9:57
Speaker 1: Yeah, that was the big.
• 9:58
  Speaker 1: Thing.
• 9:58
Speaker 1: And to take it out on the concrete and burn the tires right off of it.
• 10:02
Speaker 2: Advertising because you've got the drifters, use the Nittos and the Falcons and all that and they make specifically designed tires for the stickiness Exactly.
• 10:10
Speaker 2: And if you heat them up they get sticky.
• 10:12
Speaker 2: You don't necessarily want to have that on an everyday driver of a passenger car tire.
• 10:16
Speaker 2: You want to have the quietness.
• 10:18
Speaker 2: You look at a tire, the side sipes on it, the pattern of it.
• 10:24
Speaker 2: The closer they are together, the quieter the tire.
• 10:27
Speaker 2: The further away they are, the louder the tire, the noisier they are.
• 10:30
Speaker 2: And you can hear that on trucks my God, that Ford.
• 10:32
Speaker 2: You had it hummed along, you could hear it coming before you saw it, because the tread blocks are so separated and they're so thick.
• 10:39
Speaker 3: And some of those tires are softer just because you want to be able to heat them up and stuff, and some of the manufacturers put them on.
• 10:50
Speaker 3: I think it's nissan's got one of the little hot rods.
• 10:51
Speaker 3: It's got some tires on it that my grandson, he got one of those.
• 10:54
Speaker 3: Oh, this is gonna be so cool.
• 10:55
  Speaker 3: I mean it's a great looking car.
• 10:57
Speaker 3: It's the little gray one with the red striping on it.
• 11:00
Speaker 2: The tires didn't last 20 000 well, they generally die the factory, they, the factory, they're going to last probably the first warranty period of that.
• 11:10
Speaker 1: Yeah, he didn't make that.
• 11:11
Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, time now for this week's Hemings Sold Car Weekly Roundup.
• 11:16
Speaker 1: These are vehicles that were sold via auction online through Hemings and we pick a few of them and I ask the boys what they think the price will be.
• 11:26
Speaker 1: And this one here is for Jeff in particular.
• 11:29
Speaker 1: Okay, this is a 1976 Cadillac Eldorado convertible.
• 11:36
  Speaker 1: White on white.
• 11:37
  Speaker 1: It's a pretty car.
• 11:40
Speaker 1: What do you think that that would sell for?
• 11:42
Speaker 1: It looks like it's all factory stock and the wire, wheel covers and everything.
• 11:46
  Speaker 1: It looks good.
• 11:48
Speaker 1: Big, long hood, short rear deck.
• 11:50
  Speaker 1: I'm going to go 17.
• 11:51
  Speaker 1: Go, 12.
• 11:52
  Speaker 1: 17, 693.
• 11:55
Speaker 3: Jeff did you know, he knows Cadillac.
• 11:58
Speaker 2: I know my Cadillac.
• 12:00
Speaker 1: I get 10 points for that, yeah you do so if you know your Cadillac, here's one A 1937 Cadillac 7523.
• 12:11
Speaker 2: How much was that?
• 12:12
  Speaker 1: 7523.
• 12:13
  Speaker 1: I don't know where 7523 came from.
• 12:15
  Speaker 1: I guess it was a model A 1937 Cadillac.
• 12:20
Speaker 1: It's a sedan, big, big, wide, whites.
• 12:23
Speaker 1: It looks all stock, 60 grand.
• 12:24
  Speaker 1: No, I'm thinking 30.
• 12:25
Speaker 1: It's a sedan big, big, wide whites.
• 12:26
Speaker 1: It looks all stock $60,000.
• 12:27
  Speaker 3: No, I'm thinking $30,000.
• 12:29
  Speaker 1: $21,000.
• 12:31
Speaker 1: Oh boy, and it looks like it runs because they've got it in a.
• 12:35
Speaker 1: Let me see, I'll take two, this one right there.
• 12:38
  Speaker 1: Yeah, you would.
• 12:39
  Speaker 1: I don't know where you'd put it.
• 12:41
Speaker 3: It looks like it wouldn't fit in your garage.
• 12:43
Speaker 3: It looks like one of Stan's.
• 12:44
Speaker 2: It wouldn't fit in your garage.
• 12:45
Speaker 2: It looks like Stan's Buick.
• 12:46
  Speaker 2: Yeah, Stan's Buick.
• 12:46
Speaker 1: Yeah, it did Like a machine gun, kelly.
• 12:49
Speaker 1: Yeah, how about here's one for you, morris A 1978 Ford Mustang Cobra 78?
• 12:54
  Speaker 1: A 78.
• 12:55
  Speaker 1: So I think that's a Fox body.
• 12:57
Speaker 1: I was going to say 78 Ford Mustang Cobra, but it's a Mustang Cobra.
• 13:04
Speaker 1: What do you think?
• 13:04
Speaker 1: They're pretty popular, but this is a Mustang Cobra now, so that would be really popular.
• 13:09
  Speaker 1: It's a performance.
• 13:10
Speaker 1: Well for the day.
• 13:12
  Speaker 3: The fox body.
• 13:13
Speaker 3: You said that with a straight face Jeff All right, okay, so you bumped me up to 30.
• 13:20
  Speaker 2: I'll do 22.
• 13:21
  Speaker 2: 15, 750.
• 13:25
  Speaker 1: You don't know.
• 13:25
  Speaker 3: He psyched me.
• 13:26
Speaker 3: He psyched me on that one.
• 13:27
Speaker 3: He kept throwing out.
• 13:28
  Speaker 1: Cobra.
• 13:29
  Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 13:30
Speaker 1: In the same family, a 1963 Ford Falcon four-door sedan, red with a white top and white sidewalls.
• 13:40
  Speaker 1: How much?
• 13:41
  Speaker 1: Seven, 7,000?
• 13:43
  Speaker 1: .
• 13:43
  Speaker 1: Nine, nine, 12,285.
• 13:46
  Speaker 1: Too much Mars.
• 13:47
Speaker 1: This is for Niterville.
• 13:47
  Speaker 1: 9?
• 13:47
  Speaker 1: 12, 285.
• 13:48
  Speaker 1: Too much Mars.
• 13:49
Speaker 1: This is for Niterville.
• 13:49
  Speaker 1: 1956 Chevrolet 3200.
• 13:52
Speaker 1: So that would be a three-quarter ton.
• 13:54
Speaker 1: Three-quarter ton, and this is a stepside.
• 13:56
Speaker 1: Factory Looks yep, complete factory.
• 13:59
Speaker 1: Even the factory color 12, 56.
• 14:02
  Speaker 1: 12?
• 14:02
  Speaker 1: I'll go, 15.
• 14:03
  Speaker 1: 16, 8.
• 14:04
  Speaker 1: Damn.
• 14:05
Speaker 1: And I guess part of the reason that I do this is because it's to show everybody that if you want to get into the classic car, hot rods or whatever, there are a lot of them.
• 14:16
Speaker 1: Most of them are affordable.
• 14:18
Speaker 3: A cool daily driver.
• 14:19
Speaker 3: Yeah, you may not buy a 67Z28 factory original.
• 14:22
  Speaker 1: Survivor.
• 14:23
  Speaker 1: No, you're not.
• 14:24
Speaker 1: No, if you're going to do that, then you're going to have some deep pockets.
• 14:27
Speaker 3: Yeah, you're not looking at this anyway.
• 14:28
  Speaker 2: Like the Eldo.
• 14:29
Speaker 2: The Eldo would be a good Sunday cruiser, absolutely.
• 14:32
Speaker 2: Going through the windy roads, going on the hot rod tour, hot rod tour.
• 14:36
Speaker 1: Here's another hot rod tour car For you, jeff, a 1948 Buick Estate Wagon oh priceless.
• 14:43
  Speaker 2: It's priceless.
• 14:44
  Speaker 2: You oh priceless.
• 14:45
Speaker 2: You want to see it Look at that.
• 14:47
Speaker 1: It's even got a little wood on the side of it.
• 14:51
  Speaker 3: I've got a little wood.
• 14:51
Speaker 2: looking at that, yeah, you've got some wood.
• 14:54
Speaker 1: He didn't say that, I did.
• 14:56
Speaker 1: He did say that.
• 14:57
Speaker 1: So what do you think that that would?
• 14:59
  Speaker 3: bring 32.
• 15:01
Speaker 3: Man, I don't have a clue, but if it's got Jeff that excited I'll go to 40.
• 15:07
  Speaker 1: $63,000.
• 15:09
  Speaker 1: Now for you.
• 15:12
Speaker 1: Jeep freaks out there and I know that there are a lot of them that listen to this program.
• 15:16
  Speaker 1: Here's a 1951 Willis.
• 15:20
Speaker 1: What are you talking about?
• 15:21
  Speaker 1: Cj-3a?
• 15:23
  Speaker 1: Now, I don't know what a 3A is, but it's a CJ.
• 15:26
Speaker 1: It has every look of the World War II Jeep 3A.
• 15:27
  Speaker 1: Now, I don't know what a 3A is, but it's a CJ.
• 15:29
Speaker 1: It has every look of the World War II Jeep.
• 15:32
Speaker 1: Does it look beat up?
• 15:35
Speaker 1: No, no, it's been restored, but it's not factory original or anything.
• 15:39
  Speaker 1: It's a driver.
• 15:40
  Speaker 1: A 51 Willis CJ3A.
• 15:44
Speaker 1: What do you think something like that would be?
• 15:45
Speaker 1: You go first 10.
• 15:49
  Speaker 3: I'm going to go 10.
• 15:50
  Speaker 3: That's stretching it.
• 15:51
  Speaker 3: I think I'm going to go 8.
• 15:53
  Speaker 1: 13, 650.
• 15:54
  Speaker 1: It's a little pricey.
• 15:56
  Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a little pricey.
• 15:57
Speaker 3: Must be something to that particular model.
• 16:01
Speaker 1: Probably runs good, all original, and our last one is going to be the 1941 Lincoln Zephyr.
• 16:06
Speaker 1: I'm going to show you this and it only shows the front end, but it's pretty cool.
• 16:12
  Speaker 1: It's a gold or a beige.
• 16:15
  Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a gold.
• 16:16
Speaker 1: It looks like a two-tone gold.
• 16:18
Speaker 1: Lincoln Zephyr Lincoln Zephyr 1941.
• 16:21
  Speaker 1: 32.
• 16:22
  Speaker 1: 32?
• 16:23
  Speaker 1: .
• 16:23
Speaker 2: Now remember the other one was hold on a second, just taking notes in notes yeah, the 48 was 63.
• 16:33
Speaker 3: That was a Cadillac.
• 16:34
Speaker 2: Yeah, no, well, okay, I'm going to stick with 32.
• 16:37
  Speaker 2: Are you?
• 16:38
Speaker 1: The price that this went for for the 41 Lincoln Zephyr was $15,750.
• 16:43
  Speaker 1: You got it.
• 16:45
  Speaker 2: You fooled me.
• 16:46
  Speaker 2: I don't know.
• 16:47
  Speaker 2: I don't think that's a very popular car.
• 16:49
  Speaker 2: No, well, I don't know.
• 16:51
Speaker 2: I don't know All I can tell you is that cars are out there.
• 16:55
  Speaker 1: They're available.
• 16:56
  Speaker 2: Not that year.
• 16:57
Speaker 1: If you've got $20,000 burning a hole in your pocket to get on the Hot Rod Tour of Texas, they're available, go for it $20,000.
• 17:04
Speaker 3: You can buy lots of stuff.
• 17:06
Speaker 2: Those boys are posting a lot of stuff.
• 17:07
Speaker 2: They do stuff every weekend.
• 17:09
Speaker 3: They go on short little journeys and things I'm excited to talk to them again.
• 17:13
Speaker 3: I got something from them the other day.
• 17:14
Speaker 3: They said they're still trying to finalize this year's tour, but they're coming in our direction.
• 17:18
Speaker 3: That's good, that's all he said he's coming this direction, we won't have to go down there, we'll just wait for them to come here.
• 17:24
Speaker 3: Well, it depends on what they're doing.
• 17:26
Speaker 3: That was a really neat start they had down there in Victoria.
• 17:28
Speaker 3: They'll probably start in Victoria.
• 17:31
  Speaker 2: That's where they're from.
• 17:32
Speaker 1: But on the square down there in downtown Victoria that was new and it was awesome and they had the symphony.
• 17:40
Speaker 1: I didn't even know they had a symphony Symphony playing there.
• 17:44
Speaker 3: It was really cool.
• 17:44
Speaker 3: They had some sort of city anniversary celebration going on.
• 17:48
Speaker 3: They combined it all together.
• 17:49
Speaker 1: I think that they need to do that in conjunction with the Hot Rod Tour of Texas every year they rebuilt the gazebo or the town square area.
• 17:56
Speaker 2: They rebuilt all that.
• 17:57
Speaker 3: So that was kind of a ribbon cutting and all that.
• 17:59
Speaker 2: But if you go down there without the tour there's a lot of one-way streets.
• 18:02
Speaker 2: If you go down to Victoria, there's a lot of downtown.
• 18:05
Speaker 2: It's not where your hot rod tour could go everywhere.
• 18:09
Speaker 2: It's kind of directed.
• 18:11

• 20:27
Speaker 1: Info at InWheelTime is the address.
• 20:30
Speaker 1: Time now to open up your coin.
• 20:32
Speaker 1: Purse the top 10 states where the highest gasoline taxes reside.
• 20:36
  Speaker 2: You betcha.
• 20:36
Speaker 2: So the top 10 in this country?
• 20:39
Speaker 2: Number 10 is Oregon.
• 20:41
Speaker 2: Tax rate in Oregon is 40 cents per gallon, Holy cow, Yep.
• 20:46
Speaker 2: Oregon is one of the most expensive states when it comes to the cost of gas due to its high gas tax.
• 20:51
Speaker 2: But you may want to review your tax bill if you live in the state, because a gallon of gas is taxed.
• 20:57
Speaker 2: But Oregon is only one of five states that does not have a sales tax, so that's part of it as well, so you could help save yourself some money.
• 21:05
Speaker 2: Number nine in this outfit is North Carolina, which is $0.4065 per gallon.
• 21:11
Speaker 2: If you want to fill up before you go to North Carolina to save yourself some money, that's a good idea.
• 21:16
Speaker 2: States like Tennessee and South Carolina have lower taxes than North Carolina, while Virginia is at $0.391 per gallon, which makes it just barely out of the top ten.
• 21:27
Speaker 2: So number eight is New 39.1 cents per gallon, which makes it just barely out of the top 10.
• 21:32
Speaker 2: So number eight is New Jersey, 42.35 cents per gallon.
• 21:35
Speaker 2: New Jersey is a unique law with making a gallon of gas more expensive than other states, and here's why, In addition to the high tax rate, the Garden State is also the only state in the US where you can pump your own.
• 21:46
Speaker 2: You can't pump your own gas.
• 21:47
Speaker 2: They're all complete full service stations.
• 21:54
Speaker 2: So you just can't whip up in there, throw $5 in and leave.
• 21:55
Speaker 2: You got to wait in line and get everybody to.
• 21:56
Speaker 2: You know, come on out and do all that.
• 21:57
Speaker 2: Number seven is Maryland 47.19 cents per gallon.
• 22:02
Speaker 2: Maryland's gas tax fluctuates based on the inflation rate due to the laws passed by the state legislature, Go figure.
• 22:08
Speaker 2: So while the current tax rate may be high, it actually went down slightly in July compared to the sales tax rate of the previous year.
• 22:20
Speaker 2: Number six Michigan homegrown state.
• 22:21
Speaker 2: Forty-eight cents per gallon.
• 22:22
Speaker 2: Despite Michigan's gas tax rate, the state's cost for a gallon of gas is actually close to being in line with the national average.
• 22:29
Speaker 2: The national average for a gallon of gas is around $3.20, while a gallon of gas in Michigan is around $3.25.
• 22:35
Speaker 2: That's, according to AAA.
• 22:37
Speaker 2: Now, a lot of these things.
• 22:38
Speaker 2: This story actually comes to us from Jenny Cohen, part of that organization, Jenny.
• 22:44
Speaker 2: Indiana is number five Tax rate.
• 22:46
Speaker 2: There is 51.7 cents per gallon.
• 22:49
Speaker 2: Indiana may be known for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where cars drive fast, but you might be slowing down when you factor in the taxes on a gallon of gas in that state.
• 22:58
Speaker 2: But the good news is the cost of gas in Indiana is less than the national average, with drivers paying around $3 per gallon in the Hoosier state.
• 23:07
Speaker 2: Washington is number four on this list and it's 52.82 cents per gallon.
• 23:12
Speaker 2: Washington's tax rate is one of the reasons why it's so expensive to fill up your tank if you live in the Pacific Northwest.
• 23:19
Speaker 2: So you got Oregon number 10, Washington's four.
• 23:21
Speaker 2: A gallon of gas average price is around $4.
• 23:25
Speaker 2: It makes only one of two states above it.
• 23:28
Speaker 2: When an average gallon of gas is that high, this makes Washington the second most expensive state for a gallon of gas, according again to AAA.
• 23:37
Speaker 2: Number three is Pennsylvania.
• 23:38
Speaker 2: I heard a lot about Pennsylvania the past few weeks 58.7 cents per gallon.
• 23:42
Speaker 2: Pennsylvania is a big state so it could be difficult to fill up your tank before crossing over almost you know 60 cents in taxes for the gas, so it's going to be a long drive.
• 23:54
Speaker 2: Accordingly, you may also have to pay additional money in the state's Pennsylvania Turnpike, which also includes parts of several major interstate roads.
• 24:03
Speaker 2: So you're getting double whack there.
• 24:04
Speaker 2: Illinois is number two roads so you're getting double whack there.
• 24:10
Speaker 2: Illinois is number two 66.5 cents per gallon.
• 24:12
Speaker 2: Stock up your wallet with a lot of money, because Illinois can be expensive when the state taxes on your gas, it also goes to the road taxes as well.
• 24:18
Speaker 2: The state has the second highest tax for gas in the country and you may want to be cautious if you take a road trip that goes through Illinois.
• 24:26
Speaker 2: It also has one of the highest state sales tax in the country and you may want to be cautious if you take a road trip that goes through Illinois.
• 24:29
Speaker 2: It also has one of the highest state sales tax in the country.
• 24:30
Speaker 2: So you're getting double whammied there.
• 24:33
Speaker 2: Number one drumroll Don is California 68.1 cents per gallon in tax.
• 24:41
Speaker 2: California's tax rate contributes to the highest gas cost in the state, making it the most expensive state to a gallon of gas.
• 24:48
Speaker 2: The average price for a gallon of gas in California is $4.60, which is one of two states in the US.
• 24:54
Speaker 2: Washington is the other one which have the highest.
• 24:56
Speaker 2: And this is all according to the AAA folks.
• 25:00
  Speaker 2: Gee whiz, Okay.
• 25:01
  Speaker 2: Thank you, Michael.
• 25:02
Speaker 1: All right Time now for this hour's car review, mr Mars 2525.
• 25:06
Speaker 1: Now for this hour's car review, mr Mars 2525.
• 25:11
  Speaker 3: Oh, what 25?
• 25:11
Speaker 3: In the year 2525.
• 25:12
  Speaker 3: That's what I was thinking.
• 25:13
  Speaker 3: I got you.
• 25:13
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, buick Encore, oh man Another place and another time.
• 25:16
Speaker 2: I need everybody to go grab some refreshments, because this is going to be good.
• 25:21
Speaker 2: This is going to be good.
• 25:22
Speaker 3: Yes, the 2025 Buick Encore, you've got two minutes to do it, oh boy.
• 25:26
Speaker 3: Sport Touring all-wheel drive.
• 25:28
Speaker 3: It comes in three packages.
• 25:29
Speaker 3: You can get the Preferred, the Sport Touring, or the Avenir, which we had.
• 25:32
  Speaker 3: The Sport Touring.
• 25:33
Speaker 3: Now this is a subcompact SUV.
• 25:35
Speaker 3: Buick calls it a small First introduced in 2020.
• 25:39
Speaker 3: Had a big update in 2024.
• 25:42
Speaker 3: So here we are, tweaking things a little bit.
• 25:44
Speaker 3: Has five passengers, tweaking things a little bit.
• 25:49
Speaker 3: Has five passengers outside.
• 25:50
Speaker 3: We got some nice black trim pieces and led external lighting, which is the headlights, taillights, the intelligent high beam headlights, daytime running lights, roof racks with side rails, the adjustable height lift gate and panoramic moonroof.
• 26:01
Speaker 3: Have you noticed that you get a panoramic moonroof?
• 26:04
Speaker 3: But the smaller the car is, the less size you get.
• 26:06
Speaker 3: So we also had the optional black 19 inch aluminum wheels.
• 26:10
Speaker 3: Now, one thing I wanted to note On this thing it's pointed out On the Monroney that for the tire pressure system there's no tire monitoring On the spare tire.
• 26:19
Speaker 3: The other Buick I have Doesn't point that out For some reason.
• 26:23
  Speaker 3: That's different.
• 26:23
Speaker 3: That's what you got a tar gauge for Our best.
• 26:26
Speaker 3: So, with these small cars Inside we had the synthetic leather seating 60-40 fold-flat rear seat Not a third row, thank goodness.
• 26:34
Speaker 3: Diagonal 11-inch touchscreen, which worked really good.
• 26:37
Speaker 3: You're going to find all your convenience controls there.
• 26:39
Speaker 3: Apple Android Does not have the heated and ventilated front seats on it and you're going to find out here in a little bit how that helps out.
• 26:47
Speaker 3: 8-inch driver screen where you're going to find all your driver information that you're going to need USB outlets front and rear, and it had the Buick quiet tuning with active noise cancellation and that really works.
• 27:00
Speaker 3: I'm going to tell you, because the one I'm driving now is a lot noisier.
• 27:06
  Speaker 3: Now this is.
• 27:06
Speaker 3: It had the 1.3 turbo three-cylinder engine in it.
• 27:08
Speaker 3: It comes standard with a 1.2, but this had the 1.3.
• 27:11
  Speaker 3: 155 horsepower, 174 pound-feet of torque, nine-speed automatic.
• 27:17
Speaker 3: This thing will tow 1,000 pounds, not a whole lot, but that's enough to get your jet ski, maybe a little small camper, a little trailer to go to Lowe's or Home Depot.
• 27:24
Speaker 3: That's enough to get your jet ski, maybe a little small camper, a little trailer to go to Lowe's or Home Depot.
• 27:27
Speaker 3: Epa says you should look for 26 in the city Highway should be 28 and combine 27 miles to the gallon.
• 27:32
Speaker 3: Now I drove 233 miles and I got 24.8 across that time.
• 27:37
Speaker 3: I was well pleased with what I got out of that, with the way I was driving it.
• 27:41
Speaker 1: Because he had it nailed the entire time.
• 27:44
  Speaker 1: Shh, it's a Buick.
• 27:45
  Speaker 3: Shh.
• 27:45
Speaker 3: Yes, it's got some easy steering.
• 27:48
Speaker 3: I mean all the stuff has gone to electronic and I understand that.
• 27:50
Speaker 3: But it's easy the way they've got it set up.
• 27:52
Speaker 3: So city driving was really easy.
• 27:54
Speaker 3: You could kind of whip it around a little bit.
• 27:56
Speaker 3: What did Becky think?
• 27:57
Speaker 3: She didn't mind the way I was driving it.
• 28:01
Speaker 3: I didn't ask you that question.
• 28:03
Speaker 3: No, she liked it.
• 28:04
Speaker 3: You know it's not quite as big enough for her.
• 28:06
Speaker 3: She wants something a little bit bigger.
• 28:07
Speaker 3: She thinks she needs something a little bit bigger, but it works great because it zips around town.
• 28:11
Speaker 3: You get out on the highway It'll run highway speeds real easy.
• 28:15
Speaker 3: The only problem I had with it out on the highway at highway speeds if you decided you needed to make a high-speed maneuver like pass somebody, that nine-speed automatic you could tell.
• 28:25
Speaker 3: That's the only time I really noticed it had a 9-speed.
• 28:28
Speaker 3: Yeah, it took a little bit more for it to find where it was going Around town.
• 28:33
Speaker 3: That was not a problem.
• 28:34
Speaker 3: Now here's the thing I really liked about this thing Base model price on the Buick car Encore.
• 28:42
Speaker 3: Yeah, encore, I was looking for the GX and it's really not the gx I'm talking about.
• 28:48
Speaker 3: The base encore is really what I'm talking about twenty six thousand dollars.
• 28:50
Speaker 3: Okay, that'll put you in this car now the base trim price, which is the gx model.
• 28:55
Speaker 3: Then you're looking at 28.8 and the gx sport touring, all-wheel drive push it up at to 33, 380 as tested.
• 29:03
Speaker 3: If you're looking for something else it's kind of in that category you look, look across at the Mazda CX-30 starts at $24,995.
• 29:09
Speaker 3: The Trailblazer at $23,000 and the Crosstek from Subaru at $27,000.
• 29:15
Speaker 3: So it's something you definitely need to look at if you're looking at that small SUV-CUV package.
• 29:21
