- 0:04SPEAKER_00: Hey my friend, thanks for joining me for this episode of the podcast.
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: I am thrilled to share with you that my brand new book releases today.
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: It is called 18 Words to Live By: A Father's Wisdom on What Matters Most.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: 18 Words to Live By is a short, fast read covering 18 values to guide your life.
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: And this is a very different kind of book in that I didn't do any advanced promotion or build a launch team for this.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: And the reason is that it is a gift for my son's birthday, my son Ben.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: He is 18 years old today.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: And I wanted this book to be a surprise for him.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: So last summer, I was wondering what I could get him for his 18th birthday.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: And even though it was almost a year away, I just wondered what is something special that I could do, and my mind turned to writing a book for him.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: And what I wanted to do in this book is share some basics that I had learned about life, some things that I could pass on to him that would be meaningful not just now, but potentially years or decades from now.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: And this book is the result of just that thinking and planning and writing.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: So 18 Words to Live by is a compass.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: It's sort of a collection of essential values to carry with you on life's journey.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: And these are values that help you become a person of character.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: In the book, I talk about values such as empathy, responsibility, integrity, freedom, forgiveness, and much more.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: And I've got to tell you, this is my favorite thing that I've ever written.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: I really tried to pour my heart and my soul into this book, and I share a lot of personal stories that I hope will be inspiring to anybody who's looking for a short, simple book that's a handbook for life.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: Each of the 18 short chapters in 18 Words to Live By is written almost like a letter.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: You can read each of those chapters in just two or three minutes.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: They are very intentionally short because I designed the book that way.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: And you can sit down and read the whole book in one sitting, or you can just pick it up randomly and read a chapter or two at a time.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: Any way that you want to read it, I think you're going to really, really enjoy it.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: You can get the book via the link in the show notes or by going to KentSanders.net slash 18 words.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: That's 1 8 words.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: Right now I've got the paperback available, but the hardcover and audiobook editions will be coming out here in the next couple of months.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: Now the good news is that the Kindle version is free for the next three days.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: So you can make sure and grab that on Amazon if you have a Kindle reader or if you use the Kindle app.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: Again, you can go to KentSanders.net slash 1 8 words and that'll take you right there.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: And by the way, the last thing that I want to mention is that there are some high school and college graduations coming up here in the next month or two.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: And 18 words to live by makes a really, really excellent gift for the graduates in your life.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: So make sure and check that out.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: Thanks for listening, and I will talk to you tomorrow.
