- 0:00Speaker 1: So Jesus says, who is your neighbor? Was it the priest?
- 0:08Speaker 1: Was it the Levite? Or was it the good Samaritan
- 0:16Speaker 1: who got down off his beast, poured in the oil
- 0:21Speaker 1: and the wine, set you on his own beast and
- 0:24Speaker 1: brought you to the innkeeper's house and all of the
- 0:27Speaker 1: help came through somebody else. that you wouldn't have thought
- 0:31Speaker 1: was your neighbor. Greetings in the name of our Lord.
- 0:41Speaker 1: We started it last week. We might as well get
- 0:44Speaker 1: down into it. We're talking about love. The series is
- 0:47Speaker 1: called The Love Letter. And this particular message, I'm continuing.
- 0:52Speaker 1: It says love has no loopholes. Now fasten your seatbelts.
- 0:57Speaker 1: This is going to be a ride. Check it out.
- 1:01Speaker 1: If you command me to do something, that means I
- 1:04Speaker 1: can do it. Because it wouldn't be fair for you
- 1:08Speaker 1: to command me to do something I can't do. I
- 1:11Speaker 1: command you to be a white man with blonde hair
- 1:13Speaker 1: and blue eyes.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Come on, Lord.
- 1:24Speaker 1: I can scrub and scrub and scrub. If I had time,
- 1:32Speaker 1: I'd tell you a joke. But they might have to
- 1:36Speaker 1: edit it. Little kid up in the hill in West
- 1:39Speaker 1: Virginia saw me. He hadn't seen nobody in my color
- 1:42Speaker 1: in his life. And he looked at me. He said, Mr. Mr. Hi, Mr.
- 1:48Speaker 1: I finally turned around. He said, are you like that
- 1:50Speaker 1: all over? I said, everywhere I could see and everywhere
- 1:57Speaker 1: I could get the mirror to point, it seems to
- 1:59Speaker 1: be a 100% total job. Okay, I'm back on track. Okay.
- 2:07Speaker 1: You take that home with you. That don't cost you nothing.
- 2:09Speaker 1: It's one of my little crazy little stories happened to
- 2:12Speaker 1: me when I was going along. If he commands me
- 2:16Speaker 1: to do it, it must be within my power to
- 2:19Speaker 1: accomplish it. Because it wouldn't be just to command me
- 2:23Speaker 1: to do something that I cannot do. So that means
- 2:27Speaker 1: that love is controllable. Wow, that opens up a whole
- 2:34Speaker 1: nother village over there. Because he legislated love. Love me.
- 2:39Speaker 1: He said, this is how you love me. What I
- 2:41Speaker 1: like about God, God tells you how to love him.
- 2:43Speaker 1: No guessing. Most people want you to guess how to love.
- 2:47Speaker 1: God comes right up. Love me with everything. All your heart.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Want all your mind. All your soul. Ain't core about it.
- 2:53Speaker 1: This is how I want you to love me. He
- 2:54Speaker 1: tells you straight up. And then he says, I want
- 2:57Speaker 1: you to love your neighbor as you love yourself. Now,
- 3:02Speaker 1: if God now legislates love, then love now has indicted
- 3:07Speaker 1: the lawyer. Love has brought an indictment against the lawyer
- 3:14Speaker 1: predicated on the concept that he's guilty. Probably of never
- 3:21Speaker 1: loving the Lord thy God with all thy heart, thy mind,
- 3:24Speaker 1: and soul. But at a very minimum, he is guilty
- 3:27Speaker 1: of not loving his neighbor as himself. And this is
- 3:29Speaker 1: how I know. He's looking for a loophole. Watch this,
- 3:34Speaker 1: watch this, watch this. Y'all doing okay? Y'all good? Y'all good? Okay,
- 3:37Speaker 1: watch this. He says, the Lord who is love made
- 3:42Speaker 1: flesh says, love the Lord thy God with all thy
- 3:44Speaker 1: heart and mind and soul. Love thy neighbor as thyself.
- 3:47Speaker 1: And then the lawyer says to the Lord, who is
- 3:52Speaker 1: my neighbor? That's the loophole. He says, you know, what
- 3:58Speaker 1: do you believe? What do you wear? What is your theology?
- 4:03Speaker 1: I don't know whether I'm going to love you or
- 4:04Speaker 1: not until I find out who is my neighbor. So
- 4:08Speaker 1: this is supposed to be smart. What he is saying is,
- 4:11Speaker 1: do I determine by who lives next door to me?
- 4:13Speaker 1: Do I determine by my ethnicity? Do I determine by
- 4:16Speaker 1: my politics? Do I determine by my orthodoxy? Who is
- 4:21Speaker 1: my neighbor? Okay, y'all with me? If you don't understand that,
- 4:29Speaker 1: then you have never understood the story of the Good Samaritan.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Because the story of the Good Samaritan is Jesus' answer
- 4:37Speaker 1: to the lawyer's loophole. Jesus looks at him. Watch this, y'all.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Watch this. I'm telling you this, I'll be gone. He says,
- 4:49Speaker 1: who is my neighbor? And Jesus doesn't even answer him.
- 4:54Speaker 1: He says, a certain man Jesus is so cool. He's
- 4:59Speaker 1: so cool. He's so cool. Jesus says, a certain man
- 5:06Speaker 1: went down from Jerusalem. The very fact that he said
- 5:09Speaker 1: he went down from Jerusalem says he's a Jew. To Jericho.
- 5:15Speaker 1: And he says, he fell amongst thieves who stripped him
- 5:21Speaker 1: and wounded him and left him half dead. He says,
- 5:27Speaker 1: A Levite passed by and saw him. Levite, Levitical priesthood.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Your pastors. Your religious orthodoxy. Those that epitomize the sacraments
- 5:46Speaker 1: of your faith. The tenants, the one who handled the
- 5:49Speaker 1: theology for you. Passed by, looked at him and turned
- 5:55Speaker 1: and went away. You mean this guy who the lawyer
- 6:02Speaker 1: would perceive to be an okay neighbor didn't help him?
- 6:12Speaker 1: Let me break this down where it becomes relevant to you.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Have you ever been shocked when you were in trouble
- 6:17Speaker 1: at who didn't help you? The person that you thought
- 6:23Speaker 1: for sure that you knew would be your ride or die?
- 6:29Speaker 1: Ride or die is an African-American colloquial that means like
- 6:32Speaker 1: total commitment. It just means to be totally committed. Now,
- 6:39Speaker 1: that's enough about that. So, okay. And you find out
- 6:43Speaker 1: that when the heat is on, the brother who said
- 6:48Speaker 1: he would always be there for you, act like he
- 6:51Speaker 1: don't even know you, looks at your predicament and crosses by.
- 6:56Speaker 2: On the other side. The priest comes.
- 7:10Speaker 1: Your holy friends. See you in trouble. Saying, girl, if
- 7:18Speaker 1: you need anything, call me. Ain't it funny how you
- 7:22Speaker 1: can be bleeding to death and folks say, if you need.
- 7:29Speaker 1: And they pass by on the other side. I want
- 7:32Speaker 1: you to understand what Jesus is saying to him. Watch this.
- 7:34Speaker 1: He says, and then the good Samaritan. Now, you have
- 7:40Speaker 1: to understand, Jesus is setting the lawyer up. Using an oxymoron.
- 7:45Speaker 1: Because in the lawyer's mind, there is no such thing
- 7:49Speaker 1: as a good Samaritan. The Jews had no dealings with
- 7:58Speaker 1: the Samaritans. In fact, one time when they got ready
- 8:04Speaker 1: to insult Jesus, they called him a Samaritan. When Jesus
- 8:09Speaker 1: came down to the well to meet the Samaritan woman,
- 8:12Speaker 1: she said, you know your people don't talk to me.
- 8:17Speaker 1: Isn't it funny how you can limit love to lackness?
- 8:32Speaker 1: Only to find out the old Negro adage, everybody skin
- 8:37Speaker 1: to me and kin to me. So Jesus says, who
- 8:49Speaker 1: is your neighbor? Was it the priest? Was it the Levite?
- 8:56Speaker 1: Or was it the good neighbor? Samaritan who got down
- 9:01Speaker 1: off his beast, poured in the oil and the wine,
- 9:06Speaker 1: set you on his own beast and brought you to
- 9:09Speaker 1: the innkeeper's house and all of the help came through
- 9:13Speaker 1: somebody that you wouldn't have thought was your neighbor. All
- 9:19Speaker 1: the witnesses clap your hands. So here are your takeaways.
- 9:31Speaker 1: God is saying that if you are going to be
- 9:34Speaker 1: like him, you have to love like him. You have
- 9:38Speaker 1: to love people who don't think like you, who don't
- 9:42Speaker 1: look like you, who don't vote like you, who don't
- 9:45Speaker 1: dress like you. And you have to take down the
- 9:48Speaker 1: tribunal whereby you try people before you love them and
- 9:53Speaker 1: begin to understand that love has no loopholes. Don't dress
- 9:58Speaker 1: it up in political clothes. Don't dress it up in
- 10:01Speaker 1: religious clothes. Don't dress it up in tribal clothes. Don't
- 10:05Speaker 1: dress it up in ethnical clothes. Don't dress it up
- 10:07Speaker 1: in status. Love has no loopholes. Now, I'll tell you
- 10:11Speaker 1: how to begin to learn that is have some children.
- 10:16Speaker 1: Because if you fool around and have some children, you
- 10:19Speaker 1: will begin to understand that love has no loopholes. You
- 10:24Speaker 1: will tell them when you're talking bad, if you do
- 10:27Speaker 1: it again, I'm not going to ever do such and such.
- 10:31Speaker 1: I'm not going to help you. Don't call me. I'm
- 10:34Speaker 1: not going to loan you no money. If you walk
- 10:37Speaker 1: out that door and get into there, you are in
- 10:39Speaker 1: it by yourself. That's what you said.
- 10:43Speaker 2: But because you love.
- 10:49Speaker 1: Uh-huh. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 10:51Speaker 2: Tell somebody, say, it's about love. It's about love. It's
- 10:53Speaker 2: about love.
- 10:55Speaker 3: Still to come on The Potter's Touch.
- 10:59Speaker 1: Shake your neighbor by the hand and say, neighbor, I'm
- 11:02Speaker 1: going to shake your hand, but you can't shake your responsibility.
- 11:08Speaker 1: You can't shake your responsibility. You can't shake what you
- 11:13Speaker 1: got to do.
- 11:15Speaker 2: Love has no loopholes.
- 11:18Speaker 1: You got to love everybody with all your heart.
- 11:24Speaker 4: The biggest family-friendly festival is back, together again, at Megafest 2013.

- 11:57Speaker 1: You know, so many of us have been abused and misused, ostracized.
- 12:01Speaker 1: They say about us that we have no use at all.
- 12:05Speaker 1: Like Onesimus, they find themselves in predicaments where people have
- 12:09Speaker 1: categorized them and filed them away and said you'll never
- 12:12Speaker 1: be anything. We become imprisoned by their opinions. I want
- 12:16Speaker 1: to break the chains that bind you, open up the
- 12:19Speaker 1: door out of your prison, and cause you to experience
- 12:22Speaker 1: the glorious liberty that comes when you are completely free.
- 12:28Speaker 1: The word liberates. Take it in. See, I don't care
- 12:33Speaker 1: what they did. I don't care who they did it with.
- 12:36Speaker 1: I don't care how much you don't agree with it.
- 12:38Speaker 1: If you really are a lover, Lord will find a
- 12:41Speaker 1: way in a climb over top of stuff and.
- 12:44Speaker 2: Find a way.
- 12:46Speaker 1: Lord will find a way to get you love. Glory
- 12:53Speaker 1: to God. Glory to God. Glory to God. Hit three
- 12:55Speaker 1: people and say, ain't no way out. Ain't no way out.
- 12:57Speaker 2: Ain't no way out. Ain't no way out.
- 13:01Speaker 1: You can't get out of it. You got to go
- 13:03Speaker 1: through with it. You may have to cry, but you
- 13:06Speaker 1: got to go through with it. You may look weak,
- 13:08Speaker 1: but you got to go through with it. Your mama
- 13:10Speaker 1: may talk about you and say, you ought not take that,
- 13:12Speaker 1: but you got to go through with it. Love has
- 13:15Speaker 1: no loopholes.
- 13:17Speaker 2: Ten, three people say, no way out. No way out.
- 13:24Speaker 2: No way out.
- 13:25Speaker 1: Ironclad, irrevocable, immutable, unchangeable. Love has no loopholes. And I
- 13:33Speaker 1: know I'm right about it because Jesus himself tried to
- 13:38Speaker 1: find a loophole. For the Bible said that he went
- 13:42Speaker 1: in the garden of Gethsemane and he said, Father, if
- 13:46Speaker 1: it be thy will, pass this bitter cup for me.
- 13:51Speaker 1: It costs too much to love these people. They're all
- 13:55Speaker 1: messed up and confused. And he had to pray three
- 13:59Speaker 1: times trying to find a way out of the contract.
- 14:03Speaker 1: But finally he said, not my will, but thine be done.
- 14:10Speaker 1: And they hung him high. And they stretched him wide
- 14:14Speaker 1: until the sun refused to shine. And the ground began
- 14:18Speaker 1: to tremble and he died. to the bell in the
- 14:23Speaker 1: temple was ripped from the top to the bottom and
- 14:27Speaker 1: he died till law fell over on grace he died
- 14:35Speaker 1: yes he did oh yes he did oh yes he
- 14:40Speaker 1: did oh yes he did Street people say he couldn't
- 14:52Speaker 1: get out of it. He couldn't get out of it.
- 14:55Speaker 1: He couldn't get out of it. He couldn't get out
- 14:57Speaker 1: of it. He couldn't get out of it.
- 15:00Speaker 2: Love didn't have a loophole.
- 15:02Speaker 1: It was not the nails that held him to the cross.
- 15:07Speaker 1: He could have pulled the nails out. It wasn't the
- 15:10Speaker 1: cross because he made the tree.
- 15:13Speaker 2: It wasn't a.
- 15:14Speaker 1: Mountain because he hollered the mountain.
- 15:17Speaker 2: But for the love that was.
- 15:20Speaker 1: Set before him, he died.
- 15:39Speaker 2: Shake your neighbor by the hand and say neighbor.
- 15:42Speaker 1: I'm going to shake your hand, but you can't shake
- 15:46Speaker 1: your responsibility. You can't shake your responsibility. You can't shake
- 15:53Speaker 1: what you got to do.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Love has no loopholes.
- 15:57Speaker 1: You got to love everybody with all your heart. Oh
- 16:12Speaker 1: my God. What I'm trying to get you to see.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Join hands with somebody. What I'm trying to get you
- 16:19Speaker 1: to do. What I'm trying to get you to see.
- 16:22Speaker 1: What I'm trying to get you to understand. What I'm
- 16:25Speaker 1: trying to get you to think. You got to be
- 16:32Speaker 1: bigger than this. You can't just love the folks in
- 16:39Speaker 1: your zip code. The folks in your denomination are the
- 16:48Speaker 1: folks in your house. Love has no loopholes. The person
- 17:06Speaker 1: you touch may have been taught wrong. They may have
- 17:15Speaker 1: been taught to only love when the circumstances are right,
- 17:23Speaker 1: when the conditions are right, or if you think like
- 17:26Speaker 1: I think. But life keeps demanding that you broaden your
- 17:39Speaker 1: ability to love. Working with people will demand that you
- 17:49Speaker 1: broaden your ability to love. Even people, can I be honest,
- 17:57Speaker 1: that you normally wouldn't like. These are not the people
- 18:02Speaker 1: that you would invite over to eat hot dogs with,
- 18:04Speaker 1: but for a paycheck, you learn how to... After a while,
- 18:13Speaker 1: you do invite them over. You cannot be a big
- 18:24Speaker 1: person with a small heart. We can teach you all
- 18:32Speaker 1: kinds of principles about being blessed and prosperous and overcoming
- 18:37Speaker 1: and victory. Life can take you to the opiate of success.
- 18:43Speaker 1: But if you end up behind a big desk in
- 18:46Speaker 1: a corner office with a small mind and a small heart,
- 18:52Speaker 1: You will lose everything you have. Because you cannot determine.
- 19:00Speaker 1: Who is your neighbor. Now the person you're touching right now.
- 19:04Speaker 1: They may not tell you. But every last one of us.
- 19:09Speaker 1: Our love is being tested. In some area. A demand
- 19:20Speaker 1: is being placed on your. Your ability to love. Your
- 19:25Speaker 1: ability to understand. Your ability to broaden your perspective beyond
- 19:30Speaker 1: your comfort zone. I may not sing the songs you
- 19:34Speaker 1: grew up singing. I may not preach the way you're
- 19:37Speaker 1: used to hearing it. But if you get hungry enough,
- 19:42Speaker 1: you learn to look past this sweat rag and say,
- 19:45Speaker 1: you know, that man helped me. I want you to
- 19:55Speaker 1: pass the test. And the only way you're not going
- 20:00Speaker 1: to pass it is if you continue to be a self-enthroned,
- 20:05Speaker 1: egotistical maniac. What does that mean? Everything's about you. Years ago,
- 20:18Speaker 1: I met a woman who'd written a book that stayed
- 20:22Speaker 1: in my mind, never left. It said that the root
- 20:27Speaker 1: of all sin is selfishness. And because I am a thinker,
- 20:37Speaker 1: I couldn't get away from the thought. Look at your sins.
- 20:48Speaker 1: Are you selfish? Is your love dwarfed? Are you loving
- 21:02Speaker 1: like an adolescent in the middle of your life? is
- 21:11Speaker 1: everything always got to be about you. And if any
- 21:23Speaker 1: of that pierces you, if there's any part of you
- 21:26Speaker 1: that's not so calloused that you can't hear truth, if
- 21:32Speaker 1: the word was sharp enough to pierce dividing us under
- 21:36Speaker 1: bone and marrow, soul and spirit, and got down in
- 21:39Speaker 1: your heart and challenged you and you say, yes, I
- 21:42Speaker 1: admit it, I am selfish. I understand that because I've
- 21:46Speaker 1: been selfish too. And the truth of the matter is
- 21:49Speaker 1: everybody in here at one time or another didn't play
- 21:53Speaker 1: by the rules, went for yourself and said, I got
- 21:56Speaker 1: to be me and you were selfish. But I'm telling you,
- 22:02Speaker 1: there is no loophole If you flunk the test, you're
- 22:06Speaker 1: going to have to take it again. Stay right there.
- 22:11Speaker 1: I'll be back. If he commands me to do it,
- 22:15Speaker 1: it must be within my power to accomplish it. Because
- 22:20Speaker 1: it wouldn't be just to command me to do something
- 22:22Speaker 1: that I cannot do. So that means that love is controllable.
- 22:28Speaker 1: I give up everything to follow you. You wouldn't give
- 22:30Speaker 1: up a ham sandwich at 11 o'clock at night. Imagine
- 22:35Speaker 1: how your personal relationships would change if you loved the
- 22:39Speaker 1: people in your life like you love yourself.
- 22:43Speaker 2: The reality is we always want.
- 22:45Speaker 1: To get more than we're willing to give. So this
- 22:49Speaker 1: second scripture obliterates selfishness. It's not what we did yesterday
- 22:55Speaker 1: that's messing us up. It's that you won't grow with me.
- 22:58Speaker 3: Receive The Love Letter. Four passionate messages on CD or DVD.

- 23:18Speaker 1: We're praying about the destination, but God is planning for
- 23:22Speaker 1: the journey. Where you get in a mundane rut of
- 23:28Speaker 1: low expectations. Ordinariness is the enemy of miracles.
- 23:35Speaker 3: You don't need any more money. You need a miracle.
- 23:42Speaker 1: God's getting ready to lift your entire situation.

- 24:15Speaker 4: kind is back. And now the stage is set.
- 24:18Speaker 1: You have never seen a meeting like this.

- 24:39Speaker 1: shift in your situation.
- 24:40Speaker 2: Equipping men. This is going to be big.
- 24:49Speaker 1: Meet us in.

- 25:00Speaker 4: We do it big in Texas.
- 25:13Speaker 1: That person you're touching has got to leave this place
- 25:16Speaker 1: and go on a love mission. They've got to go
- 25:19Speaker 1: on a love mission. They may not ever go to Africa.
- 25:21Speaker 1: They may not ever go to South America, but they
- 25:24Speaker 1: have got to go on a mission field of love.
- 25:27Speaker 1: And they've got to be selfless enough to swallow the
- 25:30Speaker 1: way they think and the way they've been trained and
- 25:32Speaker 1: their own fears and their own insecurity and go on
- 25:35Speaker 1: a mission of love. That person you're touching right now
- 25:39Speaker 1: will be trapped in a vicious cycle. They'll never embrace
- 25:42Speaker 1: the fullness of what God has for you because sometimes
- 25:45Speaker 1: God puts your healing first. in the hands of a Samaritan.
- 25:49Speaker 1: Sometimes God puts your healing in the hands of somebody
- 25:53Speaker 1: whose theology is different from yours. Sometimes God puts your
- 25:56Speaker 1: healing in a place that's unfamiliar or uncomfortable. Sometimes God
- 26:02Speaker 1: gives you a child who doesn't believe like you believe
- 26:05Speaker 1: or live like you live or think like you think
- 26:07Speaker 1: or act like you want them to act. You got
- 26:09Speaker 1: to go on a love mission and say, you're still
- 26:12Speaker 1: my child. You're still my baby. Come on in this
- 26:16Speaker 1: house and get something to eat. I don't know what
- 26:17Speaker 1: to think about what you're doing, but I know I
- 26:19Speaker 1: love you. Your love has got to go on a
- 26:22Speaker 1: mission field. Squeeze that hand. And I come against all
- 26:25Speaker 1: arrogance and all areas in your life that have lifted
- 26:29Speaker 1: this self up as being a greater priority.
- 26:36Speaker 2: I want to challenge.
- 26:37Speaker 1: You to love the man you got like you love
- 26:43Speaker 1: your sons. Because he's somebody's son. To love the woman
- 26:48Speaker 1: you got like she's somebody's little girl because she is
- 26:51Speaker 1: somebody's little girl. I don't understand how you can have
- 26:55Speaker 1: so much mercy for your own children and you don't
- 26:57Speaker 1: have any mercy for mine. I don't understand that. I
- 27:05Speaker 1: don't understand. I don't understand that you don't realize that
- 27:07Speaker 1: I'm somebody's baby. Somebody cradled me and nursed me and
- 27:12Speaker 1: held me and fed me and raised me the best
- 27:15Speaker 1: they could. Why can't you love me too? We've got
- 27:21Speaker 1: to close, but I dare not close without taking a
- 27:23Speaker 1: moment to thank God for our many partners who support us.
- 27:27Speaker 1: You mean so much to us. You come to our meetings.
- 27:29Speaker 1: You're behind me in my endeavors. You help me dig
- 27:32Speaker 1: the wells and reach around the world and build homes
- 27:34Speaker 1: for the homeless. You're wonderful people. May God bless you.
- 27:37Speaker 1: May heaven smile upon you. Why don't you consider being
- 27:40Speaker 1: a partner? It doesn't take very much, but it does
- 27:44Speaker 1: make a difference. Until next week, may God bless you.
- 27:47Speaker 1: May heaven smile upon you. I love you. Take care.
