- 0:03Speaker 1: Wake up
- 0:05Speaker 1: next to you.
- 0:06Speaker 1: Kicking off your day in the best way. It's Sonia
- 0:10Speaker 1: and Joakim on the shock circuit. Good morning and welcome
- 0:12Speaker 1: to the show. Thank you so much for being with
- 0:14Speaker 1: us here today. We've got so much lined up for you.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Yeah, what do we do now that Formula One is over?
- 0:19Speaker 1: Well, plenty more here in
- 0:20Speaker 1: Singapore. Yes, and plenty more performances, concerts, I'm sure lined
- 0:24Speaker 1: up just for you. We got Miley Cyrus kicking us off.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Singapore's number one hit music station.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Holding the fort so low today and I must say
- 0:35Speaker 2: yesterday for the haze and all that here in Singapore,
- 0:39Speaker 2: I think it has affected our darling Sonia Chew just
- 0:41Speaker 2: for a little bit. So she is down with a
- 0:44Speaker 2: bit of a cold and a sore throat. She's taken
- 0:46Speaker 2: a day of MC back with us tomorrow here on
- 0:50Speaker 2: the show and likewise, if you're feeling the same way,
- 0:54Speaker 2: and if it's the haze causing it, please go see.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Doctor, or just make sure you drink lots of water,
- 0:58Speaker 2: hydrate your throat. Yesterday at the western and central side
- 1:02Speaker 2: of Singapore, I mean, for me, I'm at One North
- 1:04Speaker 2: and Bishan a lot given how it's work and home. Yeah,
- 1:09Speaker 2: it's bad. And if you live in Bishan, for me,
- 1:11Speaker 2: how I gauge the haze is if I'm able to
- 1:15Speaker 2: see Catholic High's clock tower. If I can't see it,
- 1:19Speaker 2: it's really bad. If I can.
- 1:21Speaker 2: see it, but it's slightly blurry, then to me, at
- 1:24Speaker 2: least in my opinion, not so bad, but yesterday it
- 1:27Speaker 2: was bad. So please, again, if you can stay indoors,
- 1:30Speaker 2: and I know loads of runners could be training up
- 1:33Speaker 2: for the Gamin Marathon, Gamin Half Marathon or Gamin 10
- 1:36Speaker 2: km or even the Great Eastern Women's run. It could
- 1:39Speaker 2: be happening in the month of November. Please stay very
- 1:42Speaker 2: close to your events page. They are
- 1:46Speaker 2: Posting updates on what should happen if the PSI on
- 1:50Speaker 2: run day isn't what it's supposed to be. So I
- 1:53Speaker 2: think our friends over at the Garmin Half Marathon, they
- 1:57Speaker 2: have posted some updates for you already. If you want
- 2:00Speaker 2: to go have a look. If you're tuned in and
- 2:03Speaker 2: maybe if you're a certain age, millennial, I don't know
- 2:06Speaker 2: about older Gen Zs. You might find this theme very familiar.
- 2:19Speaker 2: If you are scratching your head and wondering, uh, I
- 2:22Speaker 2: know this, but I can't really put my finger on it. OK,
- 2:25Speaker 2: 2 sound effects, which is a complete giveaway on where
- 2:29Speaker 2: the theme is from. Here's the first one. And the
- 2:33Speaker 2: second one. If you said Street Fighter, you are absolutely right.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Well done to you.
- 2:40Speaker 2: And look, it's gonna be a very exciting day in
- 2:42Speaker 2: the cinemas, starting maybe today if there are sneak previews
- 2:45Speaker 2: and then tomorrow at the official release of Street Fighter,
- 2:49Speaker 2: the Movie. Now, we've had plenty of Street Fighter movies,
- 2:52Speaker 2: some animation, some even, uh, real-life action film as well.
- 2:56Speaker 2: But for this particular synopsis, the estranged Street Fighter.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Ryu and Ken, they get thrown back into combat when
- 3:04Speaker 2: the mysterious Chun Lee recruits them for the next World
- 3:09Speaker 2: Warrior tournament, a brutal clash of fists, fate, and fury. However,
- 3:14Speaker 2: behind the battle royale lies a deadly conspiracy started by M.
- 3:20Speaker 2: Bison himself, and
- 3:22Speaker 2: The cast of the Street Fighter movie, it, it looked,
- 3:26Speaker 2: it looks rather like a lot of fun because we
- 3:28Speaker 2: got Andrew Koji playing Ryu. We got Roman Reigns, if
- 3:33Speaker 2: you follow wrestling, he's playing Akuma.
- 3:35Speaker 2: We got Cody Rhodes also from WWE. He plays, he
- 3:39Speaker 2: plays Guy. We got Jason Momoa playing Blanca, Curtis Jackson,
- 3:44Speaker 2: 50 Cent. He's playing Balrog, and Andrew Shouts among the
- 3:48Speaker 2: likes playing Dan Hibiki. So reviews so far have been mixed.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Some are saying if you want a brainless watch and
- 3:57Speaker 2: lots of fun, go in there and enjoy the film.
- 4:00Speaker 2: But if you're looking for like a very good storyline
- 4:03Speaker 2: or a film, film, maybe this is not the one
- 4:05Speaker 2: for you. But again, it's looking quite favorable for Street Fighter,
- 4:10Speaker 2: so I cannot wait to watch it because I grew
- 4:12Speaker 2: up playing a lot of the Sega and PlayStation versions.
- 4:17Speaker 2: When it became 3D with improved graphics, I kind of stopped,
- 4:20Speaker 2: but yeah, I'm more of a classic Street Fighter gamer.
- 4:23Speaker 2: There you go. And look, the entire world, or rather
- 4:26Speaker 2: at least here in ASEAN.
- 4:28Speaker 2: We are all hoping for the haze to go away
- 4:30Speaker 2: for many reasons, safety, underlying health conditions, and maybe in
- 4:36Speaker 2: the world of pop culture, if you're a VIP, I
- 4:40Speaker 2: mean a fan of Big Bang, you definitely want to
- 4:43Speaker 2: witness this, and I really hope the PSI improves so
- 4:46Speaker 2: that you get to see it happen here in Singapore.
- 4:48Speaker 2: You would know that they're performing at the indoor, the
- 4:51Speaker 2: National Stadium, rather, Saturday and Sunday, 7 p.m.
- 4:55Speaker 2: And for Marina Bay Sands, what they're up to to
- 4:59Speaker 2: celebrate this, it's almost like what they did for Lady
- 5:01Speaker 2: Gaga when she was here in Singapore last year. You
- 5:04Speaker 2: know that Spectral light show? There was actually a Lady
- 5:07Speaker 2: Gaga themed one happening, customized just to celebrate her concerts
- 5:12Speaker 2: here in Singapore. They are doing the exact same thing
- 5:15Speaker 2: for Big Bang, so I think Marina Bay Sands, thank
- 5:18Speaker 2: you very much.
- 5:21Speaker 2: For giving VIPs a potential experience of a lifetime, there'll
- 5:25Speaker 2: be two special light displays starting tomorrow, all the way
- 5:29Speaker 2: till October 18th, and the first Big Bang themed edition
- 5:34Speaker 2: of MBS's Specter Light and Water show where they will
- 5:39Speaker 2: have the water perform in a way to the songs
- 5:42Speaker 2: of Bang Bang Bang and Fantastic Baby. It will take
- 5:45Speaker 2: place 8:00 p.m., 9:00 p.m., and
- 5:48Speaker 2: 10:00 p.m. on all three nights starting tomorrow and the
- 5:52Speaker 2: Art Science Museum as well as on for our friends
- 5:55Speaker 2: at MBS, they'll be lit up in Big Bang's signature color,
- 5:58Speaker 2: yellow from 7 p.m. So there you go, and I
- 6:02Speaker 2: really hope again the PSI improves so that you can
- 6:04Speaker 2: get to witness it and we can all go back
- 6:06Speaker 2: to life as usual here in Singapore. Oi, this whole
- 6:09Speaker 2: indoor thing and a bit of a trigger warning or, uh,
- 6:13Speaker 2: what's the other word for it?
- 6:16Speaker 2: Never mind, it'll come to me when I think about it.
- 6:18Speaker 2: This one involves someone's passing and, and it's quite sad
- 6:22Speaker 2: because I feel strongly about this one.
- 6:24Speaker 2: It involves the sport of running and given how here
- 6:26Speaker 2: in Singapore, lots of people are running now, whenever I
- 6:29Speaker 2: run at the Marina Bay area, I see loads of
- 6:31Speaker 2: run clubs or individuals or small, small friend groups doing
- 6:35Speaker 2: it together as a way to keep fit. Over at
- 6:38Speaker 2: National Stadium as well, the, uh, Great Eastern Track as
- 6:41Speaker 2: it was, as it's now called, previously known as the
- 6:43Speaker 2: 100+ promenade track. Yeah, loads of people are doing their
- 6:46Speaker 2: intervals over there. It's nice to see everybody wants to
- 6:49Speaker 2: keep fit and given with the hay situation.
- 6:52Speaker 2: We got to put most of our outdoor runs on
- 6:55Speaker 2: hold for a bit, and for yours truly, I told
- 6:57Speaker 2: myself if the PSI worsens, I'll stop running outdoors and yeah,
- 7:01Speaker 2: as of 2 or 3 days ago, I told myself, OK, enough.
- 7:04Speaker 2: I'll just find the nearest gym to use the treadmill
- 7:07Speaker 2: or if can any friends allow me into your condo.
- 7:12Speaker 2: I'll be very grateful, but, um, unfortunately over in Korea,
- 7:17Speaker 2: and this took place at the 2026 Seoul race, a
- 7:22Speaker 2: 25-year-old South Korean running influencer and university student passed away
- 7:28Speaker 2: after collapsing just 500 m from the half marathon finish line.
- 7:33Speaker 2: That's 21 km. So,
- 7:35Speaker 2: Uh, I, I feel really sad about this one. Loads
- 7:38Speaker 2: of Korean celebrities and people from the running community have
- 7:41Speaker 2: gone to pay their tributes online and on social media.
- 7:45Speaker 2: So again, let this be a very sad reminder for
- 7:49Speaker 2: all of us, especially who love the sport of running. You, you,
- 7:52Speaker 2: you don't need to be a So Rae Yong or
- 7:54Speaker 2: a Vanessa Lee or a Sean Goh to take your
- 7:56Speaker 2: health seriously.
- 7:57Speaker 2: When you're running, even if you're a leisure runner, if
- 7:59Speaker 2: you're signing up for a 5 km, 10 km, 21,
- 8:03Speaker 2: or a full marathon, and if you really want to
- 8:05Speaker 2: push yourself to the limits and see how fast you
- 8:08Speaker 2: can go, I really, really encourage you, before you even
- 8:12Speaker 2: do it, go for a full body checkup. Make sure
- 8:16Speaker 2: everything in your body is OK, and if you really
- 8:19Speaker 2: Really, really want to and train correctly, at least know
- 8:22Speaker 2: your heart rate zone so that you're not pushing yourself
- 8:25Speaker 2: all the time. So to the running influencer whose name,
- 8:29Speaker 2: I just wanna make sure I get it correctly, is
- 8:31Speaker 2: UG W. We say rest in peace. If you just
- 8:34Speaker 2: joined us on this Thursday morning, we say thank you
- 8:37Speaker 2: for letting us keep you company as you make your
- 8:39Speaker 2: journey to work as well as school.
- 8:41Speaker 2: Right now though, phone lines are open over at 669-119-87
- 8:47Speaker 2: or you can even WhatsApp us at 90050987. Something contentious
- 8:53Speaker 2: is going to be discussed here on the show and
- 8:56Speaker 2: this one involves how much are you willing to pay?
- 8:59Speaker 2: When it comes to a first date. So I'm guessing
- 9:02Speaker 2: maybe today we might hear from majority of the bros
- 9:06Speaker 2: in Singapore, and I want to see whether standards have
- 9:09Speaker 2: changed or whatsoever because this was inspired by whatever we
- 9:14Speaker 2: saw on Reddit. There was a comment, OK, about how
- 9:17Speaker 2: a man said he is now scared of going on
- 9:21Speaker 2: dates after a woman ordered a $741 meal on their
- 9:28Speaker 2: first date.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Let him foot the bill and requested that he booked
- 9:33Speaker 2: a $42 Grab ride home for her. If you're wondering
- 9:38Speaker 2: where they went on their first date, it's an Imperial
- 9:41Speaker 2: treasure find Teohu cuisine. It's a one Michelin star Chinese
- 9:46Speaker 2: restaurant over at Ion Orchard. So I'm gonna just leave
- 9:49Speaker 2: it at that. There are more details available for you
- 9:51Speaker 2: on Reddit on how the first date went, but yes, uh,
- 9:55Speaker 2: in my humble opinion,
- 9:57Speaker 2: $741 on a first date and again, it's relative to
- 10:03Speaker 2: how much you earn, it's relative to how much you
- 10:05Speaker 2: want to save and all that, but I feel if
- 10:08Speaker 2: you want to go to a one Michelin star restaurant
- 10:12Speaker 2: for a first date, I really hope it works out
- 10:15Speaker 2: for you, man, because if you're gonna pay that much
- 10:18Speaker 2: and she ghosts you in the end, oh no, that'll
- 10:20Speaker 2: be quite sad. So I'm gonna just draw to my
- 10:23Speaker 2: personal experience and
- 10:26Speaker 2: I, OK, how do I, how do I do this?
- 10:29Speaker 2: Because if Sonia were here, she would say, yeah, we're joking,
- 10:32Speaker 2: we've got your usual suspect places to bring your first
- 10:34Speaker 2: dates to, right? And I agree, because I, I usually
- 10:37Speaker 2: give myself the budget of, and it's between maybe say 100.
- 10:43Speaker 2: To $150. It's relative to the place we're going to
- 10:48Speaker 2: and also how much I'm willing to spend on a
- 10:50Speaker 2: first date. So maybe somewhere like Dao Paulo over at Dempsey,
- 10:55Speaker 2: that could be a nice date spot, especially if it's
- 10:57Speaker 2: nice cooling weather and you choose a seat the outdoors, uh, sitting.
- 11:00Speaker 2: Um, Casa Vostra over at Raffles City could be a
- 11:04Speaker 2: nice first date place though I must say if they
- 11:07Speaker 2: seat you near people, you can't really have a get
- 11:10Speaker 2: to know conversation too openly because you never know who's eavesdropping, right?
- 11:14Speaker 2: And maybe one of the restaurants around the Tanjong Paga
- 11:18Speaker 2: Telok Aya area. Yeah, it, it could be a nice
- 11:21Speaker 2: spot for a first date, relatively within my budget as well.
- 11:25Speaker 2: And if it all goes well, we can wrap it
- 11:27Speaker 2: up with a nice pint of Guinness or maybe a
- 11:29Speaker 2: glass of wine and whatsoever and have a good get
- 11:32Speaker 2: to know convo and we won't break the bank for
- 11:35Speaker 2: this one. So this is my personal experience. I don't
- 11:37Speaker 2: know about you. Maybe you can call us right now,
- 11:40Speaker 2: 669-119-87 or you can WhatsApp us at 90050987. You can
- 11:47Speaker 2: remain anonymous if you want to.
- 11:50Speaker 2: How much are you willing to part with or spend
- 11:53Speaker 2: on a first date? It could be a guy, it
- 11:55Speaker 2: could be a girl. I want to know your stories
- 11:58Speaker 2: and your opinions, inspired by a Reddit thread section now
- 12:02Speaker 2: that's kinda gotten a bit of traction.
- 12:04Speaker 2: About how a man says he's scared of going on
- 12:07Speaker 2: first dates ever since he went on one with a
- 12:09Speaker 2: woman who ordered a $741 meal and requested that he
- 12:14Speaker 2: book a $42 Grab ride home for her. If you're
- 12:18Speaker 2: wondering which restaurant was it, it was Imperial Treasure Fine
- 12:22Speaker 2: Teo Chu Cuisine, a one Michelin star Chinese restaurant over
- 12:25Speaker 2: at Ion Orchard. So,
- 12:27Speaker 2: Going to WhatsApp right now at 90050987. I want to
- 12:32Speaker 2: say hello to Stella. Stella says, hey, Joakim, good morning.
- 12:38Speaker 2: If anyone wants to bring me out on a first date,
- 12:40Speaker 2: I would ask the guy if he wants to bring
- 12:43Speaker 2: me to an expensive
- 12:43Speaker 2: Place and then my answer will be no if he
- 12:47Speaker 2: says yes. If you wanna bring me on a cheaper
- 12:49Speaker 2: place where he or I can afford to pay, I
- 12:53Speaker 2: would rather split the bill. It's better that way. Thank
- 12:56Speaker 2: you very much for your text. One coming in from
- 12:59Speaker 2: from an anonymous texter. Hey Joakim, first date with my
- 13:03Speaker 2: now husband was at McDonald's. Damn.
- 13:07Speaker 2: I feel shortchanged with today's question, how much are you
- 13:10Speaker 2: willing to part with when it comes to your first date? Yeah,
- 13:14Speaker 2: first date being going out with someone, not the public
- 13:16Speaker 2: service dating app. No, not that one, yeah, don't get confused.
- 13:20Speaker 2: So I'm gonna go to WhatsApp right now and in
- 13:22Speaker 2: case you're wondering, are you joking, what inspired today's topic, uh.
- 13:25Speaker 2: There is a thread on Reddit about how a man
- 13:28Speaker 2: in Singapore says he's now scared of going on dates
- 13:31Speaker 2: after a woman ordered a $741 meal on their first
- 13:35Speaker 2: date and also requested that he booked a $42 Grab
- 13:38Speaker 2: ride home for her, so total spend $783. Um.
- 13:43Speaker 2: Again, it's relative to how much you earn in everyday life.
- 13:47Speaker 2: If it's pocket change to you, sure, I mean, no problem,
- 13:50Speaker 2: but I'm very sure this guy might not be earning
- 13:52Speaker 2: that much and that's why he turned to Reddit for
- 13:54Speaker 2: a bit of support and
- 13:56Speaker 2: Bit of a moral moral boost. There you go. Wanna
- 13:59Speaker 2: say good morning to a few people on WhatsApp. Hello
- 14:02Speaker 2: to Kathy. Kathy, you say, hey Joe, my budget first
- 14:07Speaker 2: date is about getting to know each other, not testing
- 14:10Speaker 2: each other's credit limit. I'd rather have a good laugh
- 14:13Speaker 2: over chicken rice than sit through an awkward $300 dinner.
- 14:17Speaker 2: If there's chemistry.
- 14:18Speaker 2: We can always upgrade the menu on date number 2.
- 14:21Speaker 2: There you go. And also, I want to say good
- 14:24Speaker 2: morning to SH. SH says, OK, Joakim, here's a little
- 14:28Speaker 2: plot twist. I went for a first date. The guy
- 14:31Speaker 2: on his own accord paid for dinner and a movie.
- 14:33Speaker 2: Nothing fancy. We had Swensen's. At the end of the date,
- 14:37Speaker 2: he asked for a second date, of which I said,
- 14:40Speaker 2: Let's see how it goes.
- 14:42Speaker 2: He was so persistent for a second date. After that,
- 14:45Speaker 2: I was so annoyed that I told him, you know what?
- 14:47Speaker 2: Don't think we're meeting again. He kept spamming me with
- 14:50Speaker 2: messages of which I obviously ignored. At the very last
- 14:53Speaker 2: straw in a bid to seek attention, he asked me
- 14:56Speaker 2: to pay for my portion of the date. Oh, no,
- 15:00Speaker 2: he didn't. There you go, 7.
- 15:02Speaker 2: $20 bucks transferred, the price of my first date in peace.
- 15:06Speaker 2: Thank you so much for sharing this SH. Going to
- 15:08Speaker 2: the phone lines right now, 669-119-87. Jasmine, what are your thoughts? Um,
- 15:14Speaker 2: I guess I'm OK to pay as long as we
- 15:18Speaker 2: enjoy the date. So wait, you're willing to go 50/50
- 15:21Speaker 2: or you're the one footing?
- 15:22Speaker 2: The entire bill for the first date. It's fifty-fifty. I
- 15:26Speaker 2: mean I have my pride as well, yeah, I don't
- 15:28Speaker 2: need to pay for. Alright, but let's just say if
- 15:32Speaker 2: someone were to ask you on a first date, what
- 15:35Speaker 2: sort of restaurant or cuisine are you looking forward to? Um,
- 15:39Speaker 2: I guess sushi, that's my favorite cuisine. Is there a
- 15:43Speaker 2: go to place that you love to pick?
- 15:46Speaker 2: Uh, no, I'm OK with any. Yeah. All right, thank
- 15:49Speaker 2: you so much for your call, Jasmine. Keep it coming
- 15:51Speaker 2: over at 669-11987 or WhatsApp us your thoughts over at
- 15:56Speaker 2: 90050987 on the topic of paying for a first date.
- 16:02Speaker 2: How much are you willing to part with? And thank
- 16:04Speaker 2: you so much for all your views on WhatsApp at 90050987.
- 16:10Speaker 2: Just want to read you two before we go.
- 16:12Speaker 2: Going to traffic. I want to say good morning to Richie.
- 16:15Speaker 2: Richie says, Hey, Joe, I think consistency is the best.
- 16:20Speaker 2: From first dates 3 years ago till now, our dinner
- 16:23Speaker 2: daily dinner dates are always ranging from $100 to $150.
- 16:29Speaker 2: Only on special occasions, then all the Michelin star restaurants
- 16:33Speaker 2: will come into play. OK, fine, like a man or
- 16:37Speaker 2: an anniversary. And one more coming in from Jer. Jer says, hey, Joakim.
- 16:42Speaker 2: I brought this girl on her first date to Old
- 16:45Speaker 2: Airport Road, Hokkien Mee, just so to test waters and
- 16:48Speaker 2: manage expectations. Fast forward to date, she's now my wife
- 16:53Speaker 2: and we have 3 kids. We laugh about it now
- 16:55Speaker 2: and share the story with kids. Hey, you know what, Jer?
- 16:58Speaker 2: Well done to you and your wife, really.
- 17:01Speaker 2: Proving that if you guys hit it off on the
- 17:04Speaker 2: first day, it can be anywhere, it will last long.
- 17:07Speaker 2: So well done to you, which kind of reminds me
- 17:09Speaker 2: uh
- 17:11Speaker 2: A few years ago, first date for my last relationship,
- 17:15Speaker 2: went to Soup Spoon.
- 17:19Speaker 2: And till this day, she has never let me forget
- 17:22Speaker 2: about it. So, yeah, there you go. That's my story.
- 17:25Speaker 2: On today's topic, of course, how much are you willing
- 17:27Speaker 2: to part with on a first date? And if you
- 17:29Speaker 2: just joined us, what inspired today's, uh, discussion, inverted commas,
- 17:35Speaker 2: a man on Reddit says he's now
- 17:37Speaker 2: Scared of going on dates after a woman ordered a
- 17:39Speaker 2: $741 meal on their first date, he had to pay
- 17:43Speaker 2: the whole thing and then requested that he booked a
- 17:46Speaker 2: $42 Grab ride home for her, so total damage of
- 17:50Speaker 2: the very first date, $783. I don't know if they're
- 17:54Speaker 2: still in contact.
- 17:57Speaker 2: And some of the things that they actually ate poached
- 18:00Speaker 2: live prawn, Australian lobster, salty seasonal vegetables with crab meat,
- 18:07Speaker 2: double boiled fish maw soup with sharp cartilage. In case
- 18:10Speaker 2: you're wondering, the restaurant, it's the one at Imperial Treasure
- 18:14Speaker 2: find Teo Chu Cuisine, a one Michelin star Chinese restaurant
- 18:17Speaker 2: over at Iron Orchard. Now, when it comes to Reddit, uh,
- 18:22Speaker 2: They usually post using a burner or anonymous account. So
- 18:26Speaker 2: you never know, this could have been a fantastic ad
- 18:29Speaker 2: for this restaurant to let them know what's available on
- 18:33Speaker 2: the menu or it's a real story. So I choose
- 18:35Speaker 2: to believe it's a real story, but we'll find out
- 18:37Speaker 2: soon enough. So I'm going to WhatsApp right now and
- 18:39Speaker 2: I want to say hello to Andy.
- 18:41Speaker 2: Andy, you say morning, Joe. The price on tab on
- 18:44Speaker 2: the first date should not be an issue. When I
- 18:47Speaker 2: met my wife on our first date, I fetched her
- 18:49Speaker 2: at work. She was working at IKEA and we really
- 18:52Speaker 2: had no idea where to go on our first date.
- 18:55Speaker 2: We ended up eating the iconic IKEA hotdog and just
- 18:59Speaker 2: sit and talk outside IKEA. 9 years later, we are
- 19:02Speaker 2: now happily married with 2 kids. You know what, Andy?
- 19:05Speaker 2: Well done for you. Well done.
- 19:08Speaker 2: This is nice.
- 19:11Speaker 2: Another one coming in from anonymous texter. Hey, Joe, this
- 19:15Speaker 2: is a plot twist as well. I'm the one that
- 19:17Speaker 2: offered to pay for the first day because I asked
- 19:20Speaker 2: this guy out. We actually had one of my favorite panmian.
- 19:27Speaker 2: It was and thankfully it was a rainy night and
- 19:29Speaker 2: we sat at the hawker center for a good 4
- 19:31Speaker 2: to 5 hours exchanging life stories. We got together, but
- 19:35Speaker 2: unfortunately after a few years we were going different ways.
- 19:38Speaker 2: We had to part, but that's one of my most
- 19:40Speaker 2: memorable first dates ever. Thank you so much for your
- 19:42Speaker 2: text Anonymous. Very nice, nice bowl of panmian as well.
- 19:47Speaker 2: If you can please tell us where the panmian is.
- 19:49Speaker 2: I want to go and try. Hopefully it's still around.
- 19:51Speaker 2: The next time you see a family member or a
- 19:55Speaker 2: friend before they sit on an airplane seat or a
- 19:59Speaker 2: bus seat or maybe even a car, if they take
- 20:02Speaker 2: out a wipe and they wipe it down, and if
- 20:04Speaker 2: you give comments like, Hey, very uncle, hey, very auntie.
- 20:09Speaker 2: Hold your horses. Here's a good reason why, and let
- 20:12Speaker 2: me give you a real-life example. A Qantas flight between
- 20:15Speaker 2: Perth and Rome, taken out of service for deep cleaning
- 20:18Speaker 2: due to bedbugs.
- 20:21Speaker 2: Yeah, there you go. It's, it, it really happens, people.
- 20:24Speaker 2: So even to the point where no matter what class
- 20:27Speaker 2: you belong to when you're flying, could be premium economy,
- 20:30Speaker 2: economy or business class, it's always good to give your
- 20:33Speaker 2: seat a wipe down and check. What, what I like
- 20:35Speaker 2: to do, especially for hotel rooms, is I'll turn off
- 20:38Speaker 2: all the lights. The moment I walk into my room,
- 20:41Speaker 2: I'll use my phone torch and I'll shine it on
- 20:44Speaker 2: the bed.
- 20:44Speaker 2: And I'll make sure I don't see those little small dark,
- 20:47Speaker 2: dark spots. If I do, I immediately am going down
- 20:50Speaker 2: to the concierge saying, Hey, I'm so sorry. I don't
- 20:53Speaker 2: want to be a bother, but can I please have
- 20:54Speaker 2: a change of room? Then I'll do the same thing.
- 20:57Speaker 2: I'll check for it. If I deem it safe, then that's.
- 21:00Speaker 2: I'll be able to relax in the room for a
- 21:02Speaker 2: while before going out to explore whichever city or country
- 21:05Speaker 2: I'm in. So, again, don't judge your friends and family
- 21:08Speaker 2: members if they bother to wipe down a seat or
- 21:12Speaker 2: whatever before they put their body on it.
- 21:15Speaker 2: And as promised, some good food news coming your way,
- 21:18Speaker 2: and usually I sing the jingle, but Sonia will do
- 21:21Speaker 2: the food news. But given how she's on MC, poor thing,
- 21:23Speaker 2: the haze and all that, I'll do it. Here we go. 123,
- 21:26Speaker 2: food news, food news, joking with the good food news,
- 21:32Speaker 2: and this one is food news with a twist. We're
- 21:34Speaker 2: not sending you to your nearest restaurant or hawker center, no.
- 21:37Speaker 2: This one is your shake.
- 21:38Speaker 2: Xiong's, Giants, or NTUCs. If you love your Nest Cafe
- 21:43Speaker 2: 3 in 1s and you love your tote bags as well,
- 21:47Speaker 2: and look, tote bags will come in handy, bring in,
- 21:49Speaker 2: save the 5 cents if you're going to your supermarkets
- 21:52Speaker 2: for your shopping and all that. If you get for
- 21:54Speaker 2: yourself the original Nes Cafe 3 in 1 bundle, what
- 21:58Speaker 2: comes along with it for free is the very nice
- 22:00Speaker 2: Singapore dragon plaque.
- 22:02Speaker 2: Ground tote bag, there's the Toa Payoh dragon and the
- 22:05Speaker 2: Merlion just sitting down enjoying Nest Cafe. I wonder who
- 22:08Speaker 2: designed it. It looks quite cute, so I think it's
- 22:10Speaker 2: available for a limited time only at your nearest NTUC
- 22:13Speaker 2: Sheng Xiong's or Giants, and even your cold storages as well.
- 22:16Speaker 2: So go and if you can take a picture and
- 22:18Speaker 2: tag us in it, I want to see how it
- 22:19Speaker 2: looks like and the actual sizing because this is something
- 22:22Speaker 2: my mom would definitely like. What could have caused
- 22:25Speaker 2: caused the blackout in Batam and Riau Islands. According to
- 22:30Speaker 2: the coordinating minister for Downstreaming and Energy Transition, Mr. Balil Lahadalia, hopefully,
- 22:39Speaker 2: I'm saying his name correctly, uh, he has given a
- 22:41Speaker 2: press interview that has since been covered all over the
- 22:44Speaker 2: media in Indonesia and some of the media here in
- 22:46Speaker 2: Singapore and regionwide. Um,
- 22:50Speaker 2: It's caused by lightning and bats.
- 22:54Speaker 2: That's it, that's the uh suspected cause of the blackout
- 22:57Speaker 2: over in Batam. So, there you go. If you want
- 23:00Speaker 2: a full read, it's available for you online and I
- 23:04Speaker 2: really am wondering how did the bats interfere with the
- 23:06Speaker 2: power in Batam. Maybe they chewed on the power cord
- 23:10Speaker 2: or the main power cord or whatsoever, but yeah.
- 23:13Speaker 2: Loads of investigations and now uh stories and reports need
- 23:17Speaker 2: to be done by our friends in Indonesia who again,
- 23:19Speaker 2: I think I want to send love to everyone who's
- 23:21Speaker 2: going through the haze, especially towards the hotspots. There are
- 23:24Speaker 2: videos of Kalimantan with orange sky. It's rather scary. So
- 23:29Speaker 2: to our friends, hopefully they stay safe.
