- 1:01SPEAKER_01: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Mike Blitz.

- 1:09SPEAKER_01: How y'all doing?
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: Living Sedgman.
- 1:11SPEAKER_03: Yeah, doing great.
- 1:13SPEAKER_03: Doing great.
- 1:14SPEAKER_03: Just mentioned to the missus, you know, before uh that I would shout out the greatest dinner that she makes.
- 1:21SPEAKER_03: She makes tuna banuna.
- 1:23SPEAKER_03: You ever say tuna banuna?
- 1:25SPEAKER_03: Is that a word in your household?
- 1:26SPEAKER_03: Those words have never come out of my mouth in my life.
- 1:29SPEAKER_03: Tuna noodle casserole.
- 1:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah, here it knows.
- 1:31SPEAKER_03: Tuna noodle casserole.
- 1:33SPEAKER_03: And I was like, oh my god, it's so good.
- 1:34SPEAKER_03: She said you're gonna mention it on the pod.
- 1:36SPEAKER_03: So here we go.
- 1:36SPEAKER_03: Shout out to Mrs.
- 1:37SPEAKER_03: Stedman for the tuna banuna tonight.
- 1:39SPEAKER_03: Feeling great.
- 1:41SPEAKER_02: She has an affinity for the Badgers, doesn't she?
- 1:43SPEAKER_02: She had a huge weekend.
- 1:45SPEAKER_03: That's she is on record in week one for saying her contribution to the hot takes preseason Wisconsin Badgers national champions.
- 1:54SPEAKER_03: You heard it here first from Mrs.
- 1:55SPEAKER_03: Stedman.
- 1:56SPEAKER_01: Oh, that look, that prediction is not dead yet.
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: That prediction is going to survive September.
- 2:03SPEAKER_01: So I don't know if it's gonna make it through the spooky season, but it's still with us.
- 2:08SPEAKER_01: So shout out to Abby for surviving four weeks.
- 2:12SPEAKER_01: That's good stuff.
- 2:12SPEAKER_01: That's good.
- 2:12SPEAKER_01: Respect stuff.
- 2:14SPEAKER_03: He's inching real close to being a guest on this pod.
- 2:16SPEAKER_01: So she'll be on next time.
- 2:18SPEAKER_01: Bring it on.
- 2:18SPEAKER_01: Bring it on.
- 2:19SPEAKER_01: I accept.
- 2:20SPEAKER_01: Bring it on.
- 2:20SPEAKER_01: I accept.
- 2:21SPEAKER_01: All right, real quick.
- 2:21SPEAKER_01: So here's the agenda for tonight.
- 2:23SPEAKER_01: We are gonna do a week four review.
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: Mark's gonna tee up the games, kind of tell you what happened, what was the main stuff, and we're gonna talk about what did we learn, what were the key takeaways, what are the things that we deciphered from the action, and we're gonna take with us going into week five.
- 2:36SPEAKER_01: We'll run through the homers, the games we profiled, and a couple other just things that we thought were neat and dandy.
- 2:42SPEAKER_01: Make sure to like, subscribe, get us at YouTube, Instagram, all the places we're here.
- 2:46SPEAKER_01: We want to interact with you, get in the Discord.
- 2:47SPEAKER_01: So we app with that.
- 2:48SPEAKER_01: Mark, where are we going first?
- 2:49SPEAKER_01: Let's get started.
- 2:50SPEAKER_02: We're going out to Los Angeles, where the now, so I'm gonna say the numbers of where they are ranked going into week five.
- 2:57SPEAKER_02: The number 15 Oregon Ducks defeated the number 18 now USC Trojans 41 to 27 at the Coliseum.
- 3:06SPEAKER_02: What do they call that thing out there?
- 3:07SPEAKER_02: Is it the Coliseum?
- 3:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 3:08SPEAKER_02: Oh, you want to call it the Rose Bowl.
- 3:09SPEAKER_02: Oregon was favored by three.
- 3:11SPEAKER_02: They covered and won by 14.
- 3:13SPEAKER_02: Guys, what did we learn in this game?
- 3:17SPEAKER_01: If you're on a Lincoln Riley team, you're not gonna play defense.
- 3:20SPEAKER_01: I don't know what it is, man.
- 3:21SPEAKER_01: I really thought Gary Patterson was something different.
- 3:23SPEAKER_01: And I thought, I mean, I thought D'Anthony Lynn, the former DC, who I think now is back at Penn State, I believe.
- 3:28SPEAKER_01: I thought he was a good hire as well.
- 3:30SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 3:30SPEAKER_01: Alex Scritch was obviously a catastrophe.
- 3:32SPEAKER_01: They just don't play defense.
- 3:33SPEAKER_01: If you're if you play for Alex, and this was true for Lincoln Riley when he was Oklahoma coach, he's never getting over the hump because for the life of him, he can't have a great defense.
- 3:41SPEAKER_01: I love Luke Waffle.
- 3:42SPEAKER_01: I love the five-star freshman phenom.
- 3:44SPEAKER_01: They have talent.
- 3:45SPEAKER_01: They just they can't play defense.
- 3:47SPEAKER_01: That's my takeaway.
- 3:48SPEAKER_01: Of course, Oregon won.
- 3:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah, did we did we learn not to not to overreact in weeks one through three?
- 3:54SPEAKER_03: What do you mean?
- 3:55SPEAKER_02: Of course we didn't learn that, Darren.
- 3:57SPEAKER_02: Shutting out UTEP isn't indicative of a great defense?
- 3:59SPEAKER_02: Come on.
- 4:01SPEAKER_03: Did we learn that that Nebraska fans are pissed?
- 4:05SPEAKER_03: Oh.
- 4:06SPEAKER_03: And did this game somehow inch Matt Rule closer to the hot seat, closer to his demise?
- 4:14SPEAKER_03: Because he had Dylan Rayola for years, and all of a sudden he puts on a green jersey and Rayola balls out and beats USC on the road.
- 4:22SPEAKER_02: His supporting cast may be a little bit better in Oregon.
- 4:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 4:25SPEAKER_01: I actually think this was a happy breakup.
- 4:27SPEAKER_01: Anthony Calandria is fits well what they want to do.
- 4:30SPEAKER_01: Nebraska is better, and I want to uh Riola is better.
- 4:33SPEAKER_01: Rayola threws a couple dimes, like throws.
- 4:36SPEAKER_01: I have not seen him throw very often.
- 4:38SPEAKER_01: He played well.
- 4:39SPEAKER_01: Really sorry about Dante Moore.
- 4:40SPEAKER_01: I gotta hope that guy's okay.
- 4:42SPEAKER_01: That was a gnarly hit.
- 4:42SPEAKER_01: Dirty hated.
- 4:43SPEAKER_01: I was just a straight dirty hit.
- 4:45SPEAKER_01: I you know, I'd like to see some I'd like to see some punishment for that player, but that's enough about that.
- 4:49SPEAKER_02: Oh, they suspended him for the next game.
- 4:51SPEAKER_02: Not just the targeting call that got out, but the school actually suspended him.
- 4:54SPEAKER_02: And it was less the hit itself, it was more the the awkward, like self-indulgent uh self-indulgent.
- 5:00SPEAKER_01: The reaction afterwards was like, oh, every bit as cringy as everything else.
- 5:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I mean, yeah, I can excuse the hit because it's a football play.
- 5:09SPEAKER_02: It was cheap.
- 5:10SPEAKER_02: I'm glad he got targeting, but dude, it was that it was all the high fiving and and everything he was doing afterwards that was so cringe and ugh, man.
- 5:20SPEAKER_02: It was rough.
- 5:21SPEAKER_02: Made me want to like Oregon a little bit more.
- 5:22SPEAKER_02: I might buy a Nike thing again.
- 5:24SPEAKER_02: I know I swore it off a couple weeks ago, but I might think Darren's right.
- 5:28SPEAKER_01: I think Oregon's defense played better.
- 5:29SPEAKER_01: I mean, I think it's I think they are rounding into form.
- 5:31SPEAKER_01: They did some things well.
- 5:33SPEAKER_01: They're not they're still not the as good as their talent on their roster.
- 5:37SPEAKER_01: On paper, they're still a better defense and they're performing, but step in the right direction, I'd say.
- 5:43SPEAKER_03: Big one.
- 5:44SPEAKER_03: Good.
- 5:44SPEAKER_02: All right.
- 5:46SPEAKER_02: I was gonna look at the poll and see.
- 5:47SPEAKER_02: The next one we have is Ole Miss went into the game ranked number four, and I was gonna see where they ended up now in the new AP poll.
- 5:53SPEAKER_02: But Florida with a big win.
- 5:56SPEAKER_02: Nine are they dropped only to nine?
- 5:59SPEAKER_02: That's not bad.
- 6:00SPEAKER_02: 52 to 28.
- 6:02SPEAKER_02: They got beat.
- 6:03SPEAKER_02: Florida looked really good.
- 6:05SPEAKER_02: They were only favored by three and a half and ended up winning by 24.
- 6:08SPEAKER_02: Over under was 58, guys.
- 6:10SPEAKER_02: They scored 80 total points.
- 6:13SPEAKER_02: What did we learn?
- 6:16SPEAKER_01: Very flat.
- 6:17SPEAKER_01: Uninspired game.
- 6:18SPEAKER_01: This was a this is the most cliche trap spot of a game, and it worked, it turned out to be exactly that.
- 6:23SPEAKER_01: I mean, Ole Miss was, I mean, they got up for LSU.
- 6:26SPEAKER_01: I'm so glad that game is behind us.
- 6:28SPEAKER_01: This was a classic fall on your face type game.
- 6:30SPEAKER_01: At the same time, Florida scored 50 on you.
- 6:33SPEAKER_01: Pete Golding, you are a defensive coach.
- 6:36SPEAKER_01: What are you doing?
- 6:37SPEAKER_01: Thank God you have the offense that the last guy built.
- 6:41SPEAKER_01: Because without that, is Ole Miss a bull team?
- 6:44SPEAKER_01: What are you?
- 6:44SPEAKER_01: You got 50 hung on you with a 40 million dollar roster?
- 6:48SPEAKER_01: I know Florida's good.
- 6:49SPEAKER_01: I think Florida's a top 10 team.
- 6:50SPEAKER_01: Florida deserves a lot of flowers.
- 6:52SPEAKER_01: Still got a question about their defense, but their offense is still very good.
- 6:55SPEAKER_01: 50 is unacceptable.
- 6:56SPEAKER_01: Full stop.
- 6:57SPEAKER_01: I'm I've got my I've got my I've got my suspicions about Mr.
- 7:02SPEAKER_01: Golding.
- 7:03SPEAKER_03: You've got your shame bell ready to ring.
- 7:07SPEAKER_03: Tell you what I um we learned that Jaden Ball is a very real Heisman condender.
- 7:12SPEAKER_02: Oh, dude, you were so right.
- 7:14SPEAKER_03: Right?
- 7:14SPEAKER_03: And so I love to keep my eye on the Heisman favorites, and we'll talk about it in the quick six little preview when that drops.
- 7:22SPEAKER_03: So Jaden Ball's fifth is he's like fifth or sixth in the Heisman odds right now.
- 7:27SPEAKER_03: And he's putting up he's putting up 150 yards a game, and he's just a one he is a one-man wrecking machine, and give the boys in blue all their due.
- 7:38SPEAKER_03: They're just really talented talented offense.
- 7:41SPEAKER_01: Don't sleep on the guy behind him, Duke Clark, 12 for 126, the backup running back.
- 7:45SPEAKER_01: Also, I mean they got two guys.
- 7:47SPEAKER_01: Florida's got skill guys everywhere.
- 7:49SPEAKER_01: Sorry, Mark, my bad.
- 7:50SPEAKER_02: No, you said you took the words right out of my mouth.
- 7:52SPEAKER_02: It's perfect.
- 7:54SPEAKER_02: Man, I enjoyed the Florida rush game.
- 7:57SPEAKER_02: Like, I that's gonna be good, man.
- 7:58SPEAKER_02: When they take on, when they get in deeper into SEC competition this year, like I had written off Florida just from the last couple years of Billy Napier and stuff, but that was that was an impressive win.
- 8:08SPEAKER_02: I look forward to covering them in the next couple weeks.
- 8:11SPEAKER_01: You know the other key takeaway from me, I think I've been on this already.
- 8:13SPEAKER_01: This is not new for me, but Buster Faulkner continues to prove that he is an outstanding hire.
- 8:17SPEAKER_01: He's gonna be the next South Carolina coach, I think.
- 8:20SPEAKER_01: Looking at you're looking at somebody who's going to be the top of everyone's playlist.
- 8:24SPEAKER_01: I mean, look at all the things.
- 8:25SPEAKER_01: Obviously, we saw we did it Georgia Tech, which Georgia Tech is now imploding.
- 8:28SPEAKER_01: They lost again.
- 8:29SPEAKER_01: Florida, this these were the the talent's largely the same on offense.
- 8:33SPEAKER_01: I mean, they brought, yeah, sure, he brought Philo with him, but Jaden Ball and all those pass catchers, they were Nitt Napier's guys.
- 8:38SPEAKER_01: He had them.
- 8:39SPEAKER_01: What Buster Faulkner's doing is getting them way more out of them.
- 8:42SPEAKER_01: He is putting them together.
- 8:44SPEAKER_01: He is a phenomenal offensive coach.
- 8:46SPEAKER_01: He is shooting for the top of everyone's coaching boards next cycle 2027.
- 8:50SPEAKER_02: I'm not familiar with him.
- 8:51SPEAKER_02: Tell me more about him.
- 8:51SPEAKER_02: He's the offensive coordinator at Florida.
- 8:53SPEAKER_01: He's the offensive coordinator at Florida.
- 8:54SPEAKER_01: Before that, he was the offensive coordinator at Georgia Tech, and he turned Haynes King just into a beast.
- 8:59SPEAKER_01: And Georgia Tech wasn't a very talented team.
- 9:00SPEAKER_01: And what he's doing now in Florida with the balance attack, with scheming guys open, Aaron Philo, for not that good of a quarterback, is gonna put up first team all SEC numbers because of just his ability to get the ball to his guys, let them do work, and scheming guys open.
- 9:15SPEAKER_01: I mean, Buster Faulkner, outstanding hire, continues to be.
- 9:19SPEAKER_01: He's gonna be if I've I'll put it this way if I was a South Carolina fan, that's the first phone call I'm making as soon as I fire Shane, which needs to happen now.
- 9:26SPEAKER_02: Poor Shane, poor Shane.
- 9:29SPEAKER_02: All right, let's move on.
- 9:30SPEAKER_02: We're staying in the state of Mississippi here.
- 9:32SPEAKER_02: Well, at least we're moving over to Mississippi.
- 9:34SPEAKER_02: Dude, Camario Taylor and the now number 16 Mississippi State Bulldogs in Starkville took down the now number 25 Missouri Tigers 31-24 in what was a really good game.
- 9:47SPEAKER_02: Under they the uh they scored 55.
- 9:49SPEAKER_02: The over-under was 58 and a half, and Mississippi State covered the six and a half point favorite by a half point.
- 9:56SPEAKER_02: Mike, Darren, what did we learn?
- 10:01SPEAKER_01: Taylor is bigger than larger than life.
- 10:02SPEAKER_01: This is he continues to just deliver.
- 10:04SPEAKER_01: He's awesome.
- 10:04SPEAKER_01: Have you have you watched have you guys watched him in his press conferences?
- 10:07SPEAKER_02: No.
- 10:08SPEAKER_01: I was struck, I was struck by him.
- 10:09SPEAKER_01: A couple things.
- 10:09SPEAKER_01: I was struck by him a week ago.
- 10:11SPEAKER_01: He had a press conference, he was just talking.
- 10:12SPEAKER_01: He it wasn't like he was super articulate or it wasn't some wonderful sermon.
- 10:16SPEAKER_01: It was just listening to him talk and his positive, his energy, his vibe, as it could say.
- 10:20SPEAKER_01: I was like, I would absolutely want to play for that guy.
- 10:22SPEAKER_01: He is an absolute leader.
- 10:23SPEAKER_01: And he said something in the post-game.
- 10:25SPEAKER_01: He said, be strong, be smooth, good night, or something.
- 10:29SPEAKER_01: Hit some awesome closing.
- 10:30SPEAKER_01: He is just a phenomenal leader, doing just doing wonderful things.
- 10:34SPEAKER_01: I thought Missouri was gonna outcoach them, and they weren't intimidated.
- 10:38SPEAKER_01: I weren't intimidated at all.
- 10:39SPEAKER_01: Missouri's not bad.
- 10:40SPEAKER_01: Missouri played well.
- 10:41SPEAKER_01: I mean, they got over 400 yards of offense.
- 10:43SPEAKER_01: Austin Simmons, three touchdowns, no picks, 300 yards.
- 10:46SPEAKER_01: They threw all over Mississippi, but they are cooking in Starkville in a way that I haven't seen since Dak in like 2014.
- 10:54SPEAKER_02: So Fluff Bothwell was a machine out there, like a little wrecking ball, a little like Maurice Jones drew running over people, but just maybe a little taller.
- 11:42SPEAKER_03: And I thought that Missouri was going to get it done on defense.
- 11:45SPEAKER_03: They've got a great combo of quarterback, coach, and defense.
- 11:49SPEAKER_03: They let Fluff run for over a hundred, run for what'd we say, 122 yards.
- 11:55SPEAKER_03: Um they average Missouri's averaging a hundred yards rushing total on the season so far, and Fluff blew it out of the water by himself.
- 12:05SPEAKER_03: Yeah, Mississippi State's real balanced.
- 12:07SPEAKER_03: They beat a really good team, and they're 16, and they should be, and the SEC is just super deep.
- 12:13SPEAKER_03: It's crazy.
- 12:14SPEAKER_02: Camario's only a sophomore, too.
- 12:16SPEAKER_02: This is fun.
- 12:18SPEAKER_01: They're hosting Bama next week.
- 12:19SPEAKER_01: They're hosting Bama next week.
- 12:20SPEAKER_01: I can't wait to see that.
- 12:21SPEAKER_01: It's gonna be it's gonna be so fun.
- 12:23SPEAKER_01: I mean, two rising superstars in Keelan and Camario, obviously, which we'll talk more about later.
- 12:27SPEAKER_02: Tune in our episode later this week when we break that game down.
- 12:31SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 12:32SPEAKER_02: All right, let's, guys, let's move over to the Big Ten.
- 12:34SPEAKER_02: In a game where Happy Valley, where the now number 26, just outside the top 25, Wisconsin Badgers went to Happy Valley down 20 to 10, going into the fourth quarter, put up 14 points, and beat the Nittany Lions 24-20.
- 12:52SPEAKER_02: Guys, the over-under was 44 and a half.
- 12:54SPEAKER_02: They scored 44.
- 12:56SPEAKER_02: Penn State was favored by 9.5, Darren.
- 12:58SPEAKER_02: Do you want to admit you wanted us to go higher on that one?
- 13:01SPEAKER_03: Man, we were going into the fourth quarter.
- 13:04SPEAKER_02: Oh, we had it.
- 13:05SPEAKER_03: 20 to 10.
- 13:06SPEAKER_03: We went into the fourth quarter of Penn State 20 to 10.
- 13:09SPEAKER_03: We held Wisconsin to 10 points.
- 13:12SPEAKER_03: I'm saying we because I was, you know, all over him last week.
- 13:16SPEAKER_03: And the fourth quarter just went upside down.
- 13:18SPEAKER_03: It's crazy.
- 13:20SPEAKER_03: The last touchdown of the game, the go-ahead and game winner, was a 72-yard touchdown pass.
- 13:27SPEAKER_03: Um just a backbreaker.
- 13:29SPEAKER_01: And the greatest pass.
- 13:30SPEAKER_01: The greatest stiff arm I've seen in a while.
- 13:32SPEAKER_01: He threw that guy.
- 13:33SPEAKER_01: Tight end.
- 13:34SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh.
- 13:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 13:35SPEAKER_03: You know, congratulations, PSU won three quarters of a game.
- 13:39SPEAKER_01: It was crazy.
- 13:40SPEAKER_01: They felt like they felt like it was crazy.
- 13:41SPEAKER_01: They went into pro they went into pre-vent defense like halfway through the second quarter.
- 13:45SPEAKER_01: Like it was 17-0 at one point, I think.
- 13:47SPEAKER_01: And they're just like, oh, this game is over.
- 13:48SPEAKER_01: We don't need to try it again.
- 13:49SPEAKER_01: Rocco Beck was not good.
- 13:51SPEAKER_01: 12 of 29 for 114 yards and one pick.
- 13:53SPEAKER_01: Colton Joseph, also not that good.
- 13:55SPEAKER_01: 18 for 38, less than 50%.
- 13:58SPEAKER_01: Two touchdowns, three picks.
- 14:00SPEAKER_01: Like Penn State had plenty of chances to step on their throat and win this game, and they didn't.
- 14:04SPEAKER_01: Cadusa, Wisconsin, they absolutely needed it.
- 14:06SPEAKER_01: I think everybody in Wisconsin wants Luke Fickle to work out.
- 14:09SPEAKER_01: And he was, if he was gonna work out, get to eight or nine wins, this was a must-have.
- 14:14SPEAKER_01: What I learned, my key takeaway from this whole game is we don't have to do the Penn State might be a dark horse of the playoffs conversation anymore.
- 14:20SPEAKER_01: That conversation is dead.
- 14:21SPEAKER_01: They're it's over.
- 14:22SPEAKER_01: Penn State has multiple losses.
- 14:24SPEAKER_01: This Penn State team is not that good.
- 14:26SPEAKER_01: Matt Campbell blew it.
- 14:28SPEAKER_01: This is a game we should have had.
- 14:29SPEAKER_01: He's got more losses on the schedule coming.
- 14:31SPEAKER_01: And we don't have to pretend about it.
- 14:32SPEAKER_01: We don't have to pretend that a 10 and 2 Penn State, which I think was within the realm before yesterday, is a playoff team.
- 14:39SPEAKER_01: That conversation is over.
- 14:40SPEAKER_01: Do you give him any grace since it's his first year there?
- 14:43SPEAKER_02: Is he gonna be back to build the program?
- 14:45SPEAKER_02: James Franklin kind of gutted them, didn't he?
- 14:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yes, yes.
- 14:49SPEAKER_01: As a program builder, if I'm Penn State fan, I'm happy with Matt Campbell, but they're not gonna have this favorable schedule ever again.
- 14:55SPEAKER_01: They got all the breaks in terms of avoiding the big dogs in the Big Ten.
- 14:59SPEAKER_01: And that's just not gonna happen for them moving forward.
- 15:02SPEAKER_01: So I'm I just just yes, I still like the I'm still optimistic about Penn State.
- 15:07SPEAKER_01: I'm still optimistic about Campbell, I'm optimistic about their recruiting, they're gonna get guys in there, Penn State caliber guys.
- 15:12SPEAKER_01: I still like all of that, but you know, there was a sm there was a quiet conversation happening about Penn State back during the playoffs with a real easy schedule, and pretty much Iowa State East.
- 15:22SPEAKER_01: That conversation is over.
- 15:24SPEAKER_01: Penn State is not a playoff team in 2026.
- 15:26SPEAKER_01: Clip this, go ahead and do it.
- 15:28SPEAKER_01: I'm not worried about it, it's not gonna happen, right?
- 15:29SPEAKER_02: They're pretty much gonna be like, oh, go ahead, Darren.
- 15:32SPEAKER_03: Well, we were talking about the SEC being so deep with Mississippi State coming on up.
- 15:36SPEAKER_03: Both these teams are three and one.
- 15:38SPEAKER_03: Um, I'm not saying they're as good as Mississippi State, but they have the easy schedules.
- 15:43SPEAKER_03: Wisconsin's got a three-game schedule that's difficult, but the rest of it is very manageable.
- 15:49SPEAKER_03: They've got UCLA, USC, and Iowa in the middle of their years.
- 15:54SPEAKER_03: Where are the guys?
- 15:55SPEAKER_03: Uh at UCLA.
- 15:57SPEAKER_03: They've got USC at home.
- 15:59SPEAKER_03: Wisconsin does.
- 16:00SPEAKER_03: They go to Iowa.
- 16:02SPEAKER_03: And so it's like they might be, you know, they might be this nine-win team at the end of it all.
- 16:07SPEAKER_03: Same thing for Penn State.
- 16:08SPEAKER_03: They've got an easy schedule.
- 16:10SPEAKER_03: Both of them got a break in the schedule department.
- 16:12SPEAKER_03: And, you know, we can't say goodbye to these guys yet.
- 16:14SPEAKER_03: They're gonna be in the mix when these big games come up.
- 16:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but I want to give Wisconsin a pass because they scheduled Notre Dame.
- 16:20SPEAKER_01: You know, they they know and who did Penn State play week one?
- 16:24SPEAKER_01: Temple?
- 16:25SPEAKER_01: I mean, I don't even know who it was.
- 16:26SPEAKER_01: It wasn't anybody what Notre Dame that much.
- 16:28SPEAKER_01: Marshall.
- 16:28SPEAKER_01: Marshall, thank you.
- 16:29SPEAKER_01: 45.
- 16:30SPEAKER_01: My bad thundering herb.
- 16:31SPEAKER_01: No disrespect.
- 16:32SPEAKER_01: We are Marshall.
- 16:32SPEAKER_01: Love y'all.
- 16:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 16:34SPEAKER_02: Great movie, McGonagay.
- 16:35SPEAKER_02: All right, guys.
- 16:36SPEAKER_02: Let's move on to Mike's second favorite team of 2026, the Oklahoma State Cowboys, who went into Morgantown.
- 16:42SPEAKER_01: Damn right, baby.
- 16:43SPEAKER_02: Darren, I still have this quote in my in my head from me, you said last week, where the the field will be the safest place amongst the chaos in Morgantown.
- 16:50SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 16:50SPEAKER_02: And they won 41 to 24.
- 16:53SPEAKER_02: West Virginia was favored by one and a half, and Oklahoma State and MestiMaker.
- 16:57SPEAKER_02: Ugh, they dominated.
- 16:59SPEAKER_02: Guys, what did we learn about Oklahoma State?
- 17:02SPEAKER_01: Before we talk about that, I need more credit for not selling my Oklahoma stock after the Tulsa debacle.
- 17:08SPEAKER_01: Of course.
- 17:09SPEAKER_01: Of course.
- 17:09SPEAKER_01: I I mean, to be fair, I did say they would lose to Oregon.
- 17:12SPEAKER_01: I think I even said thumped or get destroyed.
- 17:14SPEAKER_01: Didn't happen.
- 17:15SPEAKER_01: I am Oklahoma State is my pick for the when that win the Big 12.
- 17:19SPEAKER_01: They are getting better quickly.
- 17:21SPEAKER_01: Their offensive trio of Mesta Maker, Hawkins, and Wyatt Young are outstanding.
- 17:26SPEAKER_01: Mesta Maker with 20 to 27, 389 yards, three touchdowns a pick.
- 17:30SPEAKER_01: Hawkins was 31 carries, 180 and a touchdown.
- 17:33SPEAKER_01: Wyatt Young was they couldn't guard the kid.
- 17:35SPEAKER_01: Eight for 192 and one, 600 yards of offense.
- 17:39SPEAKER_01: That's what I thought was going to happen.
- 17:40SPEAKER_01: I thought West Virginia was going to score more.
- 17:42SPEAKER_01: Oklahoma State's defense is not that bad.
- 17:45SPEAKER_01: They're good enough.
- 17:46SPEAKER_01: Who in the Big 12?
- 17:47SPEAKER_01: Who in the Big 12 has an offense even close to as good as Oklahoma State right now?
- 17:51SPEAKER_03: Darren?
- 17:52SPEAKER_03: It's a lot of yards.
- 17:53SPEAKER_03: No, that's a lot of yards.
- 17:54SPEAKER_03: I'm glad for you, Michael.
- 17:56SPEAKER_03: Your preseason, you know, this is a second time, third time we should.
- 18:00SPEAKER_01: Me patting myself on the back, the can't see your helm.
- 18:02SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 18:02SPEAKER_03: I mean, you know, another another chapter in the book of don't overreact to the first three weeks.
- 18:07SPEAKER_03: Uh, your preseason take on these guys is spot on.
- 18:10SPEAKER_03: So go Cowboys.
- 18:12SPEAKER_02: I can't believe they're actually up and in the top 25.
- 18:14SPEAKER_02: I was looking at it earlier and I was like, I was surprised because I didn't see them there.
- 18:18SPEAKER_02: Because I only thought they would be getting a couple votes.
- 18:20SPEAKER_02: I didn't expect them to actually move up to 19.
- 18:23SPEAKER_01: I mean, look at the next few games.
- 18:25SPEAKER_01: They got UCF at home, who's now on their backup quarterback, at Houston, which is tough.
- 18:29SPEAKER_01: I still like Houston.
- 18:30SPEAKER_01: Colorado is falling apart.
- 18:32SPEAKER_01: Dion might be the next one that one of the coaches we don't see very long.
- 18:35SPEAKER_01: At Iowa State, one of the worst teams in the Big 12.
- 18:37SPEAKER_01: Kansas State lost an ugly one, I think, this past week, didn't they?
- 18:40SPEAKER_01: Versus Texas Tech at home.
- 18:42SPEAKER_01: I'm looking at that Oklahoma State versus Texas Tech to decide one of the two spots in the Big 12 championship.
- 18:49SPEAKER_01: I think the winner of that game is maybe both, if BYU doesn't fall off, but I don't think they will.
- 18:54SPEAKER_01: But I think Oklahoma State is quickly arriving in the top two or three.
- 18:58SPEAKER_01: There's just no, there's no team in the Big 12 that has an offensive trio battery like the like the Pokes.
- 19:02SPEAKER_01: If they all stay healthy, they're going to score a lot of points on a lot of people.
- 19:07SPEAKER_02: I will give you credit.
- 19:08SPEAKER_02: I thought you were delusional earlier in the season when you were talking about them, especially when they lost to Tulsa.
- 19:13SPEAKER_02: But kudos to you.
- 19:14SPEAKER_02: That's why it's the Mike Blitz and not the Mark Blitz.
- 19:17SPEAKER_03: The Mark Blitz.
- 19:18SPEAKER_03: Not the Mark Blitz.
- 19:20SPEAKER_02: Well, let's talk about your let's talk about your other favorite team, the Yuggers.
- 19:24SPEAKER_02: On Saturday night, welcomed the Texas AM Aggies to town and dominated 35 to 6.
- 19:32SPEAKER_02: You said they were going to win.
- 19:33SPEAKER_02: You knew they were going to win.
- 19:34SPEAKER_02: They were favored by 8.5, 9.5.
- 19:36SPEAKER_02: The over-under was 51.
- 19:37SPEAKER_02: They only 41 scored.
- 19:41SPEAKER_02: Bringing my camera back for those of you who heard me pause.
- 19:44SPEAKER_02: Guys, what did Mike?
- 19:46SPEAKER_02: What did you learn about LSU?
- 19:49SPEAKER_01: Well, it got better.
- 19:50SPEAKER_01: You know, he it's crazy.
- 19:52SPEAKER_01: What I was talking about right now is his injury.
- 19:54SPEAKER_01: It's a hamstring, it's low grade.
- 19:55SPEAKER_01: He might not start against McNeese, but he's gonna be back.
- 19:58SPEAKER_01: He'll be fine.
- 19:59SPEAKER_01: But what he couldn't do is he couldn't run.
- 20:00SPEAKER_01: So he was forced to hang the pocket and make reads.
- 20:02SPEAKER_01: And he was making his second, third, and fourth read and hitting guys.
- 20:06SPEAKER_01: It was his best game as a Tiger, passing ball for sure.
- 20:09SPEAKER_01: 17 for 23, 312 yards, two touchdowns, one pick.
- 20:13SPEAKER_01: Jackson Harris coming out party.
- 20:14SPEAKER_01: That's my guy.
- 20:15SPEAKER_01: Two touchdowns.
- 20:16SPEAKER_01: Third one was called back on a ridiculous offensive lineman downfield play that obviously it was the right call, but it's just how he was it had no bearing on the play.
- 20:24SPEAKER_01: Should have been three touchdowns for Jackson Harris.
- 20:27SPEAKER_01: We're gonna be fine.
- 20:28SPEAKER_01: We're back.
- 20:29SPEAKER_01: Defense was good.
- 20:30SPEAKER_01: The biggest thing I learned actually wasn't about LSU because I think I thought that was gonna happen more or less.
- 20:34SPEAKER_01: The biggest thing I learned was about AD ATM.
- 20:36SPEAKER_01: I'm sorry, Texas A Texas AM.
- 20:38SPEAKER_01: Marcel Reid is done.
- 20:40SPEAKER_01: He's not it.
- 20:40SPEAKER_01: This team is bad.
- 20:41SPEAKER_01: They lost seven players on the offensive and defensive line to the NFL.
- 20:46SPEAKER_01: Their trenches are a mess.
- 20:48SPEAKER_01: They tried to transfer, they tried to portal in an offensive line.
- 20:50SPEAKER_01: One of those guys was LSU Tiger, Tyree Adams.
- 20:53SPEAKER_01: He wasn't very good.
- 20:53SPEAKER_01: I remember him.
- 20:54SPEAKER_01: We were happy to see him go, I think, frankly.
- 20:56SPEAKER_01: And now that he doesn't have outstanding front seven, outstanding offensive line, it's tough.
- 21:03SPEAKER_01: It's tough.
- 21:04SPEAKER_01: And he's just not it.
- 21:05SPEAKER_01: 10 for 26, 106 yards, no touchdowns, one pick, QBR of 31.3.
- 21:11SPEAKER_01: He's not it.
- 21:12SPEAKER_01: And I think Texas AM's got a lot of losses on their schedule.
- 21:15SPEAKER_01: They have a lot of really good teams ahead.
- 21:16SPEAKER_01: They are they are one of those teams like Oklahoma where I'm scratching off the list.
- 21:20SPEAKER_01: These are not playoff teams in 2026.
- 21:22SPEAKER_01: Rebuilding year, still like Mike Elko, but a Texas AM is not going to compete for anything worth a damn in 2026.
- 21:35SPEAKER_03: And so when Sam Levitt, who has lived his whole life with the run option uh right in his back pocket, suddenly doesn't have it, I can picture the mind of a young man that says, Oh my gosh, okay, I don't have that anymore.
- 21:50SPEAKER_03: I need to focus on my quarterback reads, my progression, my footwork, my pocket presence.
- 21:57SPEAKER_03: And if he did that this week, that's incredible.
- 22:00SPEAKER_03: You know, he'd this little injury, if that's what we're talk talking about, that's true, you know, may have vaulted him a few rungs up the ladder of quarterback skills.
- 22:11SPEAKER_03: He got stronger for it.
- 22:12SPEAKER_02: It was funny to watch him out there because his front leg was completely useless there for a little bit, and it forced him to stay in the pocket, make reads, and release the ball quickly.
- 22:22SPEAKER_02: And he wasn't running around like a jackrabbit on fire.
- 22:25SPEAKER_02: And he actually looked better as the game went on.
- 22:28SPEAKER_02: And then young Brady Hart, the backup quarterback we talked about last week from AM, came in and one pass, one incompletion, one interception.
- 22:36SPEAKER_01: You see, the interception was intercepted by Tamarcus Cooley.
- 22:39SPEAKER_01: The end of the game.
- 22:40SPEAKER_01: The whole defensive backfield went in front of the Texas AM section and started doing the Texas AM yell leaders, the all-male cheerleader dance right in front of them.
- 22:48SPEAKER_01: Just brutal.
- 22:50SPEAKER_01: Just brutal.
- 22:51SPEAKER_01: They're gonna be putting that bullet board when we visit College Station in 2027.
- 22:56SPEAKER_01: They're gonna go so bad.
- 22:57SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 22:58SPEAKER_01: Um, but you know, they dumped us twice in a row.
- 23:00SPEAKER_01: This was a good get right, get back game.
- 23:02SPEAKER_01: And honestly, LSU's got a nice lull in their schedule.
- 23:04SPEAKER_01: Obviously, Auburn, Kentucky, Mississippi State are all challenges, but I think any LSU fan worth their soul would say, hey, through September, three and one.
- 23:12SPEAKER_01: Clemson at Olmiss, Texas AM, and then LaTeX.
- 23:17SPEAKER_01: I think everyone would say three and one, sign me up.
- 23:19SPEAKER_01: Good to go.
- 23:20SPEAKER_02: So where's the Kentucky game?
- 23:22SPEAKER_01: That one is in Lexington.
- 23:23SPEAKER_01: In fact, we should all ditch our lives to go to that game.
- 23:26SPEAKER_01: Yes, it's in Lexington.
- 23:27SPEAKER_01: But Mississippi State is at home, which is probably the trickiest of the three.
- 23:30SPEAKER_01: I'm actually glad we're getting Camario at home, and then at Auburn, which is again always tricky, always weird.
- 23:36SPEAKER_01: It's a noon game, so it won't be at night a whole lot.
- 23:39SPEAKER_01: But I'm Byron Brown barely beat Vanderbilt.
- 23:41SPEAKER_01: Vanderbilt's bad.
- 23:42SPEAKER_01: Like I'm we're as long as we show up, we should take care of that.
- 23:45SPEAKER_01: So my point is we're you know, we're LSU is starting to shift gears.
- 23:49SPEAKER_01: Look at November.
- 23:49SPEAKER_01: November is Texas, Alabama, and Tennessee.
- 23:52SPEAKER_01: That's gonna define our season.
- 23:53SPEAKER_01: Well, don't go look too far ahead.
- 23:55unknown: Yeah.
- 23:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 23:56SPEAKER_03: What's up, dude?
- 23:57SPEAKER_03: This is the LSU team that was ranked nine or ten preseason, and we're back at so last week they were ranked 10th.
- 24:05SPEAKER_03: And actually this week they dropped a spot.
- 24:07SPEAKER_03: They went, they beat Texas AM at home as we have a big, yeah, big matchup, and they dropped a spot to number 11 to make room for Florida.
- 24:16SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 24:17SPEAKER_01: Well, Florida deserved it.
- 24:18SPEAKER_01: Florida deserves it.
- 24:18SPEAKER_01: That's okay.
- 24:19SPEAKER_01: I'll be back.
- 24:19SPEAKER_01: We're good with Florida.
- 24:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 24:21SPEAKER_03: Uh Michael, since this is your this is your homer team, Michael.
- 24:24SPEAKER_03: Why don't you take a second to tell us about a player that we probably don't know about, offense or defense?
- 24:30SPEAKER_03: Or like somebody that you saw.
- 24:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah, somebody that really flashed, somebody you want the world to know about a little bit more from the other side.
- 24:37SPEAKER_01: Sure.
- 24:38SPEAKER_01: Well, I mean, I mean, so two, three games, we've been missing guys.
- 24:41SPEAKER_01: I mean, we've all seen the film of Sam Levitt missing and missing guys.
- 24:44SPEAKER_01: And we've said, our LSU fans have been screaming on top of our lungs, we have playmakers.
- 24:48SPEAKER_01: Sam just not getting the ball.
- 24:50SPEAKER_01: What happens as soon as he does that?
- 24:51SPEAKER_01: He plants his one foot, the other one was broken.
- 24:54SPEAKER_01: Jackson Harris, the Hawaii transfer who was all world at a previous stop, has stepped in, six catches, 163, 163 yards, two touchdowns.
- 25:02SPEAKER_01: Again, would have been a third, would have had close to 200 yards and three touchdowns if it weren't for him.
- 25:07SPEAKER_01: So I think Jackson Harris deserves a lot of attention.
- 25:09SPEAKER_01: His best game is a tiger by far.
- 25:12SPEAKER_01: Keep your eye on him.
- 25:13SPEAKER_01: Other guy on the other side of the ball.
- 25:14SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna go and give Devon Keyes, stepped in for Whit Weeks.
- 25:17SPEAKER_01: Whit Weeks is linebacker number seven, broke his fibula.
- 25:20SPEAKER_01: Looks like he's gonna be out for four to six weeks.
- 25:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's out maybe the season.
- 25:24SPEAKER_01: Devon Keys was his backup.
- 25:25SPEAKER_01: He stepped in, did really well.
- 25:27SPEAKER_01: He's a thumper.
- 25:28SPEAKER_01: He played really well in run support.
- 25:30SPEAKER_01: He's always been a big hitter.
- 25:31SPEAKER_01: And now he's playing next to JT Dottery, and he's gonna be the 425 base linebacker.
- 25:35SPEAKER_01: He's gonna be out there a lot.
- 25:36SPEAKER_01: And he got I think he got a lot better.
- 25:38SPEAKER_01: I think that was the best I've seen him play.
- 25:40SPEAKER_01: Last year he was just getting some kind of garbage time here and there.
- 25:43SPEAKER_01: And he stepped up.
- 25:44SPEAKER_01: So my point with all this, we might not see much drop-off from the All-American wit weeks to Devon Keyes.
- 25:50SPEAKER_01: So Devon Keys and Jackson Harris are my two Tigers on off of the defense to keep an eye on.
- 25:55SPEAKER_01: I like that.
- 25:56SPEAKER_02: I like that.
- 25:57SPEAKER_02: Guys, since we're talking about homers, I'd like to take the time to uh remind you that I have joined the Iowa bandwagon this season.
- 26:06SPEAKER_02: And the Iowa Hawkeyes went into the big house and took down Underwood and the Wolverines 20 to 19 on a last second touchdown to Reese Vandersee.
- 26:17SPEAKER_02: Oh, what a game.
- 26:19SPEAKER_02: And I know we debated the over-under on that one, but they only scored 39.
- 26:23SPEAKER_02: And I think the over-under was bouncing between 38 and a half and 39 and a half always.
- 26:27SPEAKER_02: Guys, what did you learn about this game?
- 26:29SPEAKER_02: I learned I chose the right team to join on the Big Ten bandwagon.
- 26:34SPEAKER_01: Yes, you absolutely did.
- 26:36SPEAKER_01: You know, it's fair.
- 26:36SPEAKER_01: So I've had this, I've had this baked intake that Bryce Underwood is a problem.
- 26:40SPEAKER_01: He wasn't a problem.
- 26:41SPEAKER_01: This is one of his best games.
- 26:42SPEAKER_01: 17 for 28 for 276 yards, two touchdowns, one pick.
- 26:46SPEAKER_01: The pick was bad.
- 26:47SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 26:47SPEAKER_01: I really I have no idea who he's throwing to.
- 26:50SPEAKER_01: And the weird fourth and goal, fourth down and inches jump over the line that he got stuffed.
- 26:55SPEAKER_01: He was not supposed to jump.
- 26:56SPEAKER_01: He was supposed to run.
- 26:57SPEAKER_01: That was bizarre.
- 26:58SPEAKER_01: So I'll put those things on him, but this was not his this fault.
- 27:01SPEAKER_01: This loss was not his fault.
- 27:03SPEAKER_01: Crazy bad play calling.
- 27:05SPEAKER_01: Special teams was a disaster.
- 27:08SPEAKER_01: My takeaway from this game is Iowa does what Iowa does.
- 27:11SPEAKER_01: They muck it up, they play special teams, they play great defense, they hang around.
- 27:16SPEAKER_01: Tim Lester, I mean, they found their quarterback, it's Hank Brown.
- 27:18SPEAKER_01: Hank Brown's their guy, clearly.
- 27:20SPEAKER_01: And they did what good teams do.
- 27:22SPEAKER_01: They hang around and they give themselves a puncher's chance against a better opponent.
- 27:26SPEAKER_01: I think Michigan is better.
- 27:27SPEAKER_01: I think if we played this game 10 more times, I think Michigan would win seven of them or eight of them.
- 27:31SPEAKER_01: But who cares?
- 27:32SPEAKER_01: Didn't happen.
- 27:33SPEAKER_01: Iowa won.
- 27:33SPEAKER_01: They get the credit.
- 27:35SPEAKER_01: Um, if my point is, if I'm a Michigan fan, I'm kicking myself for this one.
- 27:39SPEAKER_01: This is a game that they probably should have had.
- 27:41SPEAKER_01: If I'm an Iowa fan, I'm as confidence building.
- 27:44SPEAKER_01: You're this is an Iowa offense that we haven't seen in a long time.
- 27:48SPEAKER_01: Next week against Ohio State's gonna be tough, but the rest of the schedule, the rest of the schedule, I'm looking at every single game they could win.
- 27:57SPEAKER_01: I don't see a single game that they're that's that that's that even that's scary.
- 28:02SPEAKER_01: At Washington's a long trip, but Washington stinks.
- 28:04SPEAKER_01: They lost again too to Minnesota.
- 28:06SPEAKER_01: Minnesota is now so I mean, it's a rival, not good.
- 28:11SPEAKER_01: I at Illinois, I mean, we think maybe Nebraska might be sneaky good, but my point can win Iowa, I mean, that that's coming.
- 28:18SPEAKER_01: I think we're I think we're coming.
- 28:20SPEAKER_03: Or no, yeah.
- 28:22SPEAKER_03: Like you said, we were preseason, we were looking at this stretch.
- 28:26SPEAKER_03: We were looking at Michigan, Ohio State, and Washington, and saying out of that three games, if they win one, Iowa is gonna be, you know, they're gonna be talked about in the top 20.
- 28:38SPEAKER_03: And so here we are.
- 28:39SPEAKER_03: Go Hawkey's.
- 28:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's good to be these three guys right now.
- 28:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah, absolutely.
- 28:45SPEAKER_01: And they can't beat I'm not saying they can't beat Ohio State at home.
- 28:48SPEAKER_01: They have done it before.
- 28:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm just it's gonna be tough.
- 28:51SPEAKER_01: I wouldn't bet on it.
- 28:52SPEAKER_02: They're gonna have to come out and play their best game of the year.
- 28:55SPEAKER_02: Absolutely, absolutely, absolutely.
- 28:57SPEAKER_02: Michigan's defense looked really good.
- 28:58SPEAKER_02: That's what I learned.
- 28:59SPEAKER_02: That Michigan defense is stout, and JJ Buchanan is a good wide receiver for Michigan.
- 29:05SPEAKER_02: What he had six catches, 120 some odd yards.
- 29:08SPEAKER_02: I have notes around.
- 29:09SPEAKER_01: Five for five for 130 and two touches.
- 29:10SPEAKER_01: Okay, you go, oh my gosh.
- 29:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he was open and he was open big and good yards after the catch.
- 29:16SPEAKER_02: I thought that was pretty impressive.
- 29:17SPEAKER_01: Andrew Marsh had seven catches for 106 yards.
- 29:19SPEAKER_01: Michigan had two 100 yards receivers, so Bryce Underwood was not the problem.
- 29:23SPEAKER_01: He is he's not the problem, was not the problem in this game.
- 29:25SPEAKER_01: Michigan has guys all over the place.
- 29:28SPEAKER_01: Uh I think he's young.
- 29:30SPEAKER_02: I think the more he plays, the better he should get.
- 29:34SPEAKER_02: He's got a cannon of an arm.
- 29:35SPEAKER_02: He doesn't always know where it goes on a deep ball.
- 29:38SPEAKER_02: But if he can get that and polish that up, he might his legs are great.
- 29:41SPEAKER_02: The man's a great athlete.
- 29:43SPEAKER_02: I he hopefully he gets better because he's got all the tools and I can see what he's got there.
- 29:49SPEAKER_01: If he continues to get better, I think they might have something.
- 29:51SPEAKER_01: He didn't carry the ball particularly well, but a lot of that's by design.
- 29:54SPEAKER_01: Well, one's also his the sack that you lose obviously your sack yards don't count, but like 14 carries for 36 yards isn't exactly setting the world on fire, but it's forcing the defense to think about something.
- 30:04SPEAKER_01: And he is big, fast, and strong.
- 30:05SPEAKER_01: Nobody questions that.
- 30:07SPEAKER_01: If he continues to take steps forward, and I do think this Iowa game, despite the outcome, was a step forward for him.
- 30:13SPEAKER_01: I could see Michigan getting back in the getting back off the mat and making some noise.
- 30:17SPEAKER_01: But you know, if you're a Michigan fan, you're just you know, this is karma.
- 30:21SPEAKER_01: This was the wash, this was the Western Michigan game paying you back.
- 30:24SPEAKER_01: Get both.
- 30:25SPEAKER_01: You don't get both.
- 30:26SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 30:28SPEAKER_02: Let's move up to I was Chestnut Hill, a wet nor'easter of a game.
- 30:33SPEAKER_02: The Virginia Tech Hokies went to Boston College.
- 30:36SPEAKER_02: It was sloppy, it was wet.
- 30:38SPEAKER_02: The Hokies ended up winning 21-14.
- 30:41SPEAKER_02: I points were hard to come by in that whole game, guys.
- 30:45SPEAKER_02: What did we learn?
- 30:46SPEAKER_02: Did Virginia Tech struggle or was it the elements?
- 30:51SPEAKER_03: Yeah, we're gonna go.
- 30:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah, no, we learned that that good coaches, James Franklin, you know, find a way, creative way to win in all kinds of game environments.
- 31:03SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so this was that soaking wet field, and also field goals really add up.
- 31:09SPEAKER_03: You know, we started the game with a a field zeros, by the way, in the first quarter.
- 31:14SPEAKER_03: Zero to zero.
- 31:15SPEAKER_03: Second quarter, field goal.
- 31:16SPEAKER_03: We go into halftime three to zero, right?
- 31:19SPEAKER_03: Um third quarter, field goal, and we ended up barely kind of chipping by and squeaking out this game because of turnovers, defense, special teams.
- 31:30SPEAKER_03: And this is you know, it's kind of a hidden beamer ball game here.
- 31:34SPEAKER_02: Because Jeffrey Overton Jr.
- 31:36SPEAKER_03: Oh my gosh.
- 31:37SPEAKER_03: Well, he's the yeah, all this all the spotlight in the world.
- 31:41SPEAKER_03: Jeffrey Overton goes for over 200 yards, one of them's a 76-yard game winner.
- 31:48SPEAKER_03: Um, and we absolutely had to have it.
- 31:51SPEAKER_03: Yeah, had to have it.
- 31:52SPEAKER_03: So I say kudos to Coach Franklin and the coaching staff because you find yourself underwater in a monsoon, you're going into the fourth quarter, down seven to six.
- 32:04SPEAKER_03: Um, doesn't look like there's gonna be any way to and then you go down six to fourteen in the fourth quarter.
- 32:09SPEAKER_03: So they found a way to chip back and uh and get it back on track.
- 32:13SPEAKER_03: So you gotta win, you gotta get lucky, you gotta win in a really weird creative way every now and then.
- 32:18SPEAKER_02: So Mike, what are your thoughts on that one?
- 32:20SPEAKER_01: Uh I mean, I still want Darren said.
- 32:21SPEAKER_01: Hokies won ugly.
- 32:22SPEAKER_01: They usually lose these games.
- 32:23SPEAKER_01: Uh, frankly, the last like eight or nine years have been like this is a good, this is a classic game where they lose that they shouldn't lose.
- 32:28SPEAKER_01: The rush attack is legit.
- 32:30SPEAKER_01: I mean, my concerns about the offensive line were maybe a little premature.
- 32:33SPEAKER_01: I think their offensive line a little better is continuing to play well.
- 32:36SPEAKER_01: Mr.
- 32:36SPEAKER_01: Overton, very impressive, 25 carries for 200 yards.
- 32:39SPEAKER_01: Gronkenmeyer didn't have a great game, but I'm chalking, I'll chalk that up to the weather.
- 32:42SPEAKER_01: I've heard it's I've heard it's pretty brutal up there.
- 32:44SPEAKER_01: And I think Nor'easter is coming through right now, so I'm not gonna, I'm not gonna ding him for that.
- 32:50SPEAKER_01: The fly in my ointment, if I'm gonna try and both sides to coin this thing, play devil's advocate.
- 32:55SPEAKER_01: I don't think Virginia Tech's beaten a team that's gonna be in a bowl yet.
- 32:58SPEAKER_01: I think Maryland's I think Maryland stinks, Boston College stinks, VMI.
- 33:02SPEAKER_01: Okay, maybe VMI makes a bull.
- 33:03SPEAKER_01: Old Dominion's one and three.
- 33:05SPEAKER_01: I'm not saying that should be anyone's that should you can only play the teams on your schedule.
- 33:10SPEAKER_01: And Virginia Tech has done that, and they've done that pretty convincingly, with the exception of this last week with the weather storm.
- 33:16SPEAKER_01: It's not necessarily a knock, but it's something I'm paying attention to, is that this is gonna be a monster test.
- 33:22SPEAKER_01: If they beat Pitt on Friday night, which we're talking about, I'm sure, plenty, it's really gonna, I think it's gonna, I think it's gonna open up the we're hokies are all over all of our radar.
- 33:31SPEAKER_01: I think it's gonna open up the national radar to the hokies big time if they can find a way to get past Pitt at home on Friday night.
- 33:36SPEAKER_01: Because Pitt, I think, is one of the top three or four teams in the ACC.
- 33:40SPEAKER_01: And I think folks are thinking hokies are on the same place, so we'll just have to see what happens.
- 33:44SPEAKER_01: Winning team gets in the top 25.
- 33:46SPEAKER_01: There you go.
- 33:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah, when your that's your reward.
- 33:50SPEAKER_02: All right, guys, let's go over to Knoxville with the number one team of the nation.
- 33:53SPEAKER_02: The Texas Longhorns went against the Tennessee Volunteers and barely won 20 to 17.
- 33:59SPEAKER_02: Tennessee had the ball and a chance at the end.
- 34:02SPEAKER_02: The under was hit.
- 34:03SPEAKER_02: It was 55 and a half, was the over-under, and there was only 37 points scored.
- 34:08SPEAKER_02: What did we learn?
- 34:11SPEAKER_01: Baison is not ready.
- 34:13SPEAKER_01: He was a true freshman quarterback playing a NFL light defense.
- 34:17SPEAKER_01: They sacked him 10 times.
- 34:20SPEAKER_01: That is an insane amount of times to get sacked in a 60-minute football game.
- 34:23SPEAKER_01: And he wasn't ready, and he looked like he wasn't ready.
- 34:26SPEAKER_01: I'll say Jim Knowles got the defense.
- 34:28SPEAKER_01: I mean, Tennessee's defense was awesome.
- 34:31SPEAKER_01: After that opening drive, they let Arch Manning trot them the field.
- 34:33SPEAKER_01: They shut him down for the most part.
- 34:35SPEAKER_01: Tennessee's defense came to play, and despite all of those weapons, and Texas has Lamborghinis at every position.
- 34:41SPEAKER_01: They are loaded on offense, and Tennessee shut them down.
- 34:44SPEAKER_01: They also sacked him.
- 34:45SPEAKER_01: They sacked Arch six times.
- 34:47SPEAKER_01: That's a great performance.
- 34:48SPEAKER_01: I think any Tennessee fan listening to said, hey, you hold Texas at 20 points at home, you're probably saying, okay, we're gonna, we got a good chance of winning that game.
- 34:55SPEAKER_01: I think they're I think they're probably thinking they're feeling pretty good.
- 34:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah, for Tennessee, it's that the defense is ahead of schedule.
- 35:02SPEAKER_01: I think you have to really have to love what you did to Arch Manning and the Longhorns in Nayland.
- 35:07SPEAKER_01: That's a really great performance.
- 35:08SPEAKER_01: And if not ready.
- 35:10SPEAKER_01: He needs to grow, he needs to develop for this team to hit, to go the places they want to go.
- 35:15SPEAKER_01: He's gotta, he's gotta get there.
- 35:17SPEAKER_01: On the other side of the coin, Texas defense is so good.
- 35:20SPEAKER_01: Colin Simmons had five sacks, but I think it's a single game record.
- 35:22SPEAKER_01: I know it's a Texas record, might be a single game anybody record for all I know.
- 35:26SPEAKER_01: Do you see his not PG celebrations, touchdown celebrations?
- 35:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah, did you hear what the referee said in explanation on the field?
- 35:33SPEAKER_03: Poor guy had to say something in the microphone.
- 35:35SPEAKER_03: What the ref said?
- 35:37SPEAKER_03: Referee turned on his microphone and said, personal foul, 15-yard penalty.
- 35:42SPEAKER_03: Player was imitating going to the restroom of first down, or what you know.
- 35:49SPEAKER_03: Like he had to say, man, you didn't have to say all that stuff.
- 35:52SPEAKER_03: Just say personal foul.
- 35:54SPEAKER_03: Was it her streak?
- 35:55SPEAKER_02: It was like, that was disgusting.
- 35:57SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, yeah, they were foul on her.
- 35:59SPEAKER_01: One of them was one of them was all punchy about it.
- 36:01SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah.
- 36:02SPEAKER_01: I mean it was Arch, yeah.
- 36:04SPEAKER_01: The and the other takeaway from me is just Arch Manning is I think is underwhelming.
- 36:08SPEAKER_01: I he I he is something is there is something wrong there.
- 36:11SPEAKER_01: I don't know if it's Sarkeesian's play calling.
- 36:13SPEAKER_01: I don't know why I don't for sure I don't know why he does play call for that matter.
- 36:17SPEAKER_01: It's it's something he's he disappears, disappears for long stretches, and he's ineffective.
- 36:22SPEAKER_01: He's still not that accurate.
- 36:24SPEAKER_01: He is going to be the thing that's he's gonna be the thorn.
- 36:27SPEAKER_01: He's got to get better.
- 36:28SPEAKER_01: Texas is playing for national championship.
- 36:29SPEAKER_01: They are a national championship caliber roster at every spot, and including we think quarterback, but maybe not.
- 36:36SPEAKER_01: I'm I'm not buying any Arch Manning stock.
- 36:38SPEAKER_01: I don't want my NFL team to draft him next year.
- 36:40SPEAKER_03: He's handed the ball off, they handed the ball off more than they threw passes, so they were skewing towards the run.
- 36:46SPEAKER_03: Take away Arch Manning's 11 carries for negative one yards, you know, throwing his sacks in there and stuff, throw those out.
- 36:54SPEAKER_03: And they're like a they're a slightly run heavy.
- 36:57SPEAKER_03: They only threw 19 passes.
- 37:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah, this was just a this was just a good old-fashioned slug fest.
- 37:04SPEAKER_03: Gut punches and you know, a lot of defense up front.
- 37:08SPEAKER_03: Um yeah.
- 37:10SPEAKER_01: Texas's final Texas' final rushing stat was 36 rushes for 61 yards.
- 37:14SPEAKER_01: That's 1.7 yards a carry.
- 37:16SPEAKER_01: Tennessee showed up physically, and they should they should deserve a lot of flowers for that.
- 37:21SPEAKER_02: I think Texas got in their own way, and I think they're they're an undisciplined team that makes stupid penalties.
- 37:28SPEAKER_02: Now, of course, the one where he was fake urinating on the field, but also there was a roughing the passer in the first quarter.
- 37:34SPEAKER_02: There was a special teams penalty, all these things that against a better team you can't come back from.
- 37:38SPEAKER_02: Tennessee's or I'm sorry, Texas has to clear this stuff up if they're really gonna compete when they get to the playoff time.
- 37:45SPEAKER_02: But there were far too many penalties.
- 37:46SPEAKER_02: I think what I have 11 penalties for 115 yards on the day.
- 37:50SPEAKER_02: And I don't think you can do that when you're playing a top five team later in the year.
- 37:53SPEAKER_03: If they make it to the playoff, you know, we're still looking at number one, but they survived Tennessee by scoring 20 points.
- 38:01SPEAKER_03: They barely, you know, they miracled Ohio State.
- 38:04SPEAKER_03: And so they're four.
- 38:05SPEAKER_03: No, they're number one.
- 38:06SPEAKER_03: But now let's look at the schedule.
- 38:08SPEAKER_03: Okay, so they got Oklahoma.
- 38:10SPEAKER_03: They'll probably survive and win the Red River is a weird game, man.
- 38:14SPEAKER_01: But that's a weird game.
- 38:15SPEAKER_01: That's right.
- 38:15SPEAKER_01: If Oklahoma somehow found Jesus and won that game somehow, I would nobody would be that we have seen horrific teams in this rivalry win that game before.
- 38:24SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 38:25SPEAKER_03: And then look what happens.
- 38:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah, Florida, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Missouri, and LSU.
- 38:32SPEAKER_03: Five games that they might lose.
- 38:35SPEAKER_03: They're not gonna win those games playing like that.
- 38:37SPEAKER_03: Five and five.
- 38:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah, like five and five is a very real reality for Texas Longhorns right now.
- 38:43SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's about to give it all right.
- 38:45SPEAKER_02: Thank you guys.
- 38:46SPEAKER_02: All right, that was good.
- 38:46SPEAKER_02: Our last Homer game.
- 38:48SPEAKER_02: Guys, this one's interesting.
- 38:49SPEAKER_02: The box score showed UVA dominated Delaware 42 to 3.
- 38:55SPEAKER_02: But now UVA has no votes in the top 25.
- 38:58SPEAKER_02: They're not even no one is giving them any love whatsoever.
- 39:02SPEAKER_02: Has the shine wore off completely?
- 39:04SPEAKER_02: I didn't watch the game.
- 39:05SPEAKER_02: It was on, all right, it was on the quad box for the first quarter until the other game started, and then I turned it off.
- 39:10SPEAKER_02: But did what did we learn?
- 39:11SPEAKER_02: Anything from this game?
- 39:13SPEAKER_01: Bo tried to throw the ball and he did okay.
- 39:15SPEAKER_01: 24 for 28 for 280 yards, four touchdowns, no picks.
- 39:18SPEAKER_01: They couldn't run the ball against Delaware.
- 39:21SPEAKER_01: 41 carries for 119 yards.
- 39:23SPEAKER_01: What is that?
- 39:24SPEAKER_01: I that it's flipped.
- 39:26SPEAKER_01: It the script flipped.
- 39:27SPEAKER_01: I mean, I think Tony Elliott probably did it on purpose to try and rebuild Bo's confidence.
- 39:31SPEAKER_01: He knows he's gonna need him, but the fact that they couldn't run the ball the way they were expecting expect them to run the ball against a team like Delaware, no disrespect for the Blue Hens, that gives me pause.
- 39:40SPEAKER_01: I'm that's uh that's an underwhelming.
- 39:43SPEAKER_01: I'm hoping that's a one-off.
- 39:44SPEAKER_01: I'm looking at UVA's games.
- 39:46SPEAKER_01: I think they could win or lose every single game.
- 39:49SPEAKER_01: They are probably no more.
- 39:51SPEAKER_01: I mean, I'm gonna get their schedule.
- 39:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah, if you look at their schedule, I think they are no more than eight points favorite or dog in every single one.
- 39:59SPEAKER_01: And if you're less than a double-digit spread, all of those are winnable, all of those are losable.
- 40:05SPEAKER_01: I don't know what to make of it.
- 40:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah, maybe, yeah.
- 40:08SPEAKER_01: Some of them are gonna be tight lines.
- 40:09SPEAKER_01: Florida State, they're a one and a half point favorite on the road.
- 40:12SPEAKER_01: So SMU, they're gonna be a five-point dog, six-point dog.
- 40:16SPEAKER_01: You know, so first Duke might be a pick'em at this point.
- 40:19SPEAKER_01: If Duke keeps playing them with Duke, might be the second or third or fourth best team in the ACC.
- 40:23SPEAKER_01: I I don't know what to make of UVA.
- 40:25SPEAKER_01: I was what I saw, what we all we were I was sitting next to you two.
- 40:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, what we saw in August to where we are now, it would have made more sense to me if we saw this in August and then we saw the NC State game now.
- 40:38SPEAKER_01: But how we got here, I'm not sure what to think.
- 40:40SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 40:41SPEAKER_01: What did we learn is that a UVA is a is an enigma, is what I've was where I am.
- 40:46SPEAKER_01: They're good.
- 40:47SPEAKER_03: They're gonna they went into the halftime at this game 28-3.
- 40:51SPEAKER_03: Um, and I'm betting the you know, the play calling just went into the gutter, and they just you know got out of there safe.
- 40:59SPEAKER_03: They're good, and the ACC doesn't have any pushovers on this schedule right now for them.
- 41:06SPEAKER_03: Duke and Wake Forest are proving themselves to be really good teams.
- 41:10SPEAKER_03: Syracuse, not bad.
- 41:12SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so this this type of team, um, UVA, doesn't get that AP nod, that AP pull nod from anybody after after taking a loss.
- 41:24SPEAKER_02: I like I'm glad Oh go ahead, Mike.
- 41:27SPEAKER_01: I just don't like the way they ran the ball.
- 41:29SPEAKER_01: I just I can't get for me.
- 41:30SPEAKER_01: It's hard for me to understand how because this offensive line is all grown men.
- 41:35SPEAKER_01: They need to be put they need to be pushing teams like Delaware around with relative ease.
- 41:39SPEAKER_01: It just it gives me my red flags are firing if you can't push Delaware around.
- 41:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but maybe their focus of this game was trying to throw the ball beyond the five-yard marker or outside the flags.
- 41:47SPEAKER_02: It looked like they did.
- 41:48SPEAKER_02: You know, 20, 24 for 28 for 279.
- 41:51SPEAKER_02: And I also saw Holstein got in the game for a while too.
- 41:54SPEAKER_02: You know, I think that's they listened to us last week.
- 41:56SPEAKER_02: We sat here and said that, hey, you're not gonna win games unless you throw the ball down the field.
- 41:59SPEAKER_02: And hey, if you're gonna play Delaware, go out there and practice.
- 42:02SPEAKER_02: They're a CUSA team, give them a chance, give them a chance to practice and then they're not playing a Florida State.
- 42:07SPEAKER_02: I mean, hey, let's see.
- 42:08SPEAKER_02: Let's see if they learn if they actually get better from this and truly beat and truly grow a little bit.
- 42:13SPEAKER_01: If they go to go to Tallahassee next week and rush for 200 on the knolls, I'm all the way back in.
- 42:17SPEAKER_03: I'm right back in.
- 42:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 42:20SPEAKER_03: Yeah, they're just like you said about Virginia Tech.
- 42:22SPEAKER_03: We've we've got to prove it.
- 42:23SPEAKER_03: And next week, here it comes.
- 42:24SPEAKER_03: Here comes approving ribbon ground.
- 42:26SPEAKER_03: And Mark, to underscore your point about the AP, here's some teams that did receive an AP vote.
- 42:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 42:32SPEAKER_03: Uh Northwestern.
- 42:33SPEAKER_03: Northwestern got one vote.
- 42:35SPEAKER_03: Our pet team, North Dakota State, uh received six votes.
- 42:39SPEAKER_03: Minnesota had a Minnesota, Arizona.
- 42:41SPEAKER_03: We knew that that good teams had good wins.
- 42:44SPEAKER_03: Uh JMU.
- 42:46SPEAKER_03: So back to my point last week.
- 42:47SPEAKER_03: Who is the second best team in Virginia?
- 42:51SPEAKER_03: JMU gets the gets the AP nods when UVA gets none.
- 42:55SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 42:55SPEAKER_01: We're gonna find out all next week.
- 42:57SPEAKER_01: All three of those teams are gonna be are gonna be in battles.
- 43:00SPEAKER_01: We're gonna that deck is gonna get shuffled.
- 43:01SPEAKER_01: We're gonna find out here in a minute.
- 43:05SPEAKER_02: Who else you got, Darren?
- 43:07SPEAKER_03: Yeah, no, that's it.
- 43:08SPEAKER_03: You know, no UV is gonna see UV is good.
- 43:10SPEAKER_03: Who else I got for for what?
- 43:12SPEAKER_02: All right the other team that's getting getting some picks there in the received votes area.
- 43:16SPEAKER_02: Louisville.
- 43:17SPEAKER_02: And you mentioned Wake Forest, and that's a game that I think we want to talk about just a little bit here.
- 43:21SPEAKER_02: Wake Forest beat Louisville 30 to 27, and I thought Wake Forest was a joke.
- 43:26SPEAKER_01: Mike, what did you learn?
- 43:29SPEAKER_01: Louisville can't play a full game.
- 43:31SPEAKER_01: It's just Jeff Brahm.
- 43:32SPEAKER_01: This is such I can't, they blew it.
- 43:34SPEAKER_01: You know, they're clearly talented, they're just woefully streaky.
- 43:37SPEAKER_01: And I was they fooled me.
- 43:39SPEAKER_01: I was all the way in after last week beating SMU.
- 43:41SPEAKER_01: I was impressed.
- 43:42SPEAKER_01: I thought Lincoln Keenholes was an NFL quarterback they weren't talking about.
- 43:45SPEAKER_01: Maybe he still is, but losing to Wake at home, Jay Tickert, none of those coaches you might be calling for your next job.
- 43:52SPEAKER_01: Good all respect, the Deacons.
- 43:54SPEAKER_01: They got very little talent.
- 43:56SPEAKER_01: Gio Lopez is not that dude, and he carved him up.
- 43:58SPEAKER_01: So I don't know.
- 43:59SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 44:00SPEAKER_01: Louisville blew it.
- 44:00SPEAKER_01: I don't know and I don't they're they deserve to be they deserve to be low, be below Virginia Tech, Pitt, Duke.
- 44:08SPEAKER_01: Those are they're you know, I thought I thought I was talking about them as a second playoff team a week ago.
- 44:14SPEAKER_01: So I jinxed them.
- 44:15SPEAKER_02: It's my fault with those running backs, they should be better than they are, and I think even my 10 year old had a great take on this.
- 44:20SPEAKER_02: He learned that the Louisville defense is garbage.
- 44:24SPEAKER_02: And the other side is like they had two chances, they had two chances to tie the game and they missed field goals in the fourth quarter.
- 44:29SPEAKER_02: The last one was blocked, it was fifty seven.
- 44:31SPEAKER_02: It would have been huge, but it got blocked.
- 44:33SPEAKER_02: Louisville had a chance to go in there, but man, I kudos to Wake Forest.
- 44:37SPEAKER_02: That was respect there.
- 44:39SPEAKER_02: Respect.
- 44:39SPEAKER_03: Go into halftime of this game, and it's Barnburner City.
- 44:42SPEAKER_03: It's six touchdowns have been scored in the first half.
- 44:45SPEAKER_03: Second half, zero touchdowns by either team, two field goals each.
- 44:49SPEAKER_03: Good coaching or bad coaching?
- 44:51SPEAKER_01: What do you think about it?
- 44:52SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 44:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 44:54SPEAKER_01: I think Jeff Brahm's kicking himself over this one.
- 44:56SPEAKER_01: They're two and two now.
- 44:57SPEAKER_01: They should have beat Ole Miss.
- 44:58SPEAKER_01: They should have beat Wake.
- 44:59SPEAKER_01: They should be four-0.
- 45:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 45:01SPEAKER_01: They're just taking flags.
- 45:02SPEAKER_01: Their secondary is falling apart.
- 45:04SPEAKER_01: They have a pass rush.
- 45:05SPEAKER_01: They've got running backs.
- 45:06SPEAKER_01: They've got a quarterback, but they just they're not a they're not, they're an incomplete team, playing incomplete team, playing incomplete games.
- 45:12SPEAKER_01: And now the thing is they have to be perfect.
- 45:15SPEAKER_01: There's no world where a three-loss ACC squad is even going to get a sniff as an at-large.
- 45:20SPEAKER_01: So it's either run the table, which is going to be tough, or Blueville season's relative for all tits and purposes might be over as well.
- 45:27SPEAKER_02: I got another one for you.
- 45:28SPEAKER_02: How about the dumpster fire of the SEC in Norman, Oklahoma, where the number two Georgia Bulldogs took down Oklahoma 41 to 13?
- 45:37SPEAKER_02: Oklahoma, their one that's going to have to get their act together.
- 45:42SPEAKER_01: Georgia won by 28 points.
- 45:44SPEAKER_01: They only had 300 yards of offense.
- 45:47SPEAKER_01: Just absolutely dominant defense.
- 45:49SPEAKER_01: The only thing I have one takeaway for this game.
- 45:56SPEAKER_01: They're just grease staining everybody.
- 45:58SPEAKER_01: On the other side, just much like Marcel Reid, this is the end of the Matir story.
- 46:02SPEAKER_01: There's nobody in Norman who still thinks he's their quarterback.
- 46:05SPEAKER_01: He should be their quarterback anymore.
- 46:06SPEAKER_01: If you have a backup that has a bunch of stars next to his name, and I bet you they do, I can't think of it right now.
- 46:11SPEAKER_01: I bet you Oklahoma's got some young kid in the wings.
- 46:13SPEAKER_01: It's time to see what you got because Matir is not it.
- 46:16SPEAKER_01: He's got to go.
- 46:17SPEAKER_03: Until the Red River shootout next week.
- 46:20SPEAKER_03: Then that's it.
- 46:21SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 46:23SPEAKER_01: Totally redeem yourself.
- 46:24SPEAKER_01: Totally redeem yourself.
- 46:26SPEAKER_03: Six touchdown passes.
- 46:27SPEAKER_03: Don't be surprised.
- 46:30SPEAKER_03: I'm looking on the top chart to see what they have.
- 46:32SPEAKER_03: Mateir's stats on this game didn't look terrible.
- 46:36SPEAKER_03: Did he pass the did he pass the eye test over the weekend?
- 46:39SPEAKER_03: Did he look like the problem?
- 46:41SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 46:42SPEAKER_03: He threw for three 231, 25 for 34 for 231.
- 46:47SPEAKER_01: I mean, he did you see the did you see the Jameis Winston fumble scuba score pick six that he gave up?
- 46:53SPEAKER_01: I mean, he's still not.
- 46:55SPEAKER_01: Nobody, I'm not even sure what what the offensive scheme is.
- 46:58SPEAKER_01: You know, they're not really running the ball that well.
- 47:00SPEAKER_01: He runs around, he tries to find Isaiah Satania or Trell Harris.
- 47:04SPEAKER_01: I I don't think anybody thinks this offense has much of an identity or knows what that identity is.
- 47:10SPEAKER_01: 35 carries, 65 yards for the team.
- 47:12SPEAKER_01: He did throw for 230 yards, and he was relatively accurate, but I think most of that was after the fact.
- 47:19SPEAKER_01: And I mean, Georgia was up, it was all after the fact.
- 47:22SPEAKER_01: Georgia was up 31-0.
- 47:24SPEAKER_01: I mean, this game was over.
- 47:25SPEAKER_01: This game was over.
- 47:26SPEAKER_01: So yeah.
- 47:27SPEAKER_02: Oh my god.
- 47:28SPEAKER_02: Oh, go ahead.
- 47:28SPEAKER_01: Go ahead.
- 47:29SPEAKER_01: Oh, go ahead.
- 47:29SPEAKER_02: So Matirst quarterback, Witt Newbauer, who's a transfer from Mercer by three-star.
- 47:34SPEAKER_02: And then they have Bo Bentley, a four-star freshman, who, according to 247, reminds them of John Mateer.
- 47:41SPEAKER_02: That's my guy.
- 47:42SPEAKER_02: There you go.
- 47:42SPEAKER_02: I'm a Bo Maniac.
- 47:44SPEAKER_02: Let's go to the Chicagoland area for a game that was on Friday night, which surprised the heck out of me when the Northwestern Wildcats will put up a game against Indiana.
- 47:56SPEAKER_02: Indiana won 29-23, but holy cow.
- 48:00SPEAKER_02: Actually, I think the game was in Bloomington, wasn't it?
- 48:03SPEAKER_02: I think it was in Indiana.
- 48:05SPEAKER_02: Dang it.
- 48:06SPEAKER_02: Northwest Indiana.
- 48:07SPEAKER_03: Indiana.
- 48:08SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 48:08SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 48:09SPEAKER_03: Yeah, a lot of a lot of cameras on uh Northwestern's Chip Kelly.
- 48:16SPEAKER_03: When he joined the program, you know, he started looking at this game.
- 48:20SPEAKER_03: He started thinking, what are we gonna do about Indiana?
- 48:23SPEAKER_03: He's been thinking about it.
- 48:24SPEAKER_03: He's been scheming.
- 48:25SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 48:26SPEAKER_03: Do we have an Indiana problem here?
- 48:28SPEAKER_03: I don't think so.
- 48:28SPEAKER_03: I think Northwestern is just like a so many teams we're talking about this year and last year.
- 48:34SPEAKER_03: Now that you know NIL and these players, the the playing field is just leveled and the bottom has risen, and Northwestern is not gonna be a pushover anymore, especially with Chip Kelly calling plays for you.
- 48:46SPEAKER_03: So no, Indiana's still gonna be um a threat in the top 10 at the end of the season.
- 48:53SPEAKER_03: This was a blip.
- 48:54SPEAKER_03: Uh congrats to the purple guys.
- 48:56SPEAKER_03: But Indiana, again, coaches found a creative way to win and hold them off.
- 49:01SPEAKER_03: So listen, we've seen Aiden Chases.
- 49:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we've seen Aiden Charles flash in Michigan State.
- 49:07SPEAKER_01: Chip Kelly is a darn good offensive coordinator, and he got a lot of Aiden Charles.
- 49:10SPEAKER_01: Aiden Charles had a great day.
- 49:11SPEAKER_01: 22 for 29, 293 yards, and two touchdowns.
- 49:14SPEAKER_01: I have one thing written down for this game.
- 49:17SPEAKER_01: Northwestern might be sneaky good.
- 49:20SPEAKER_01: Josh Hoover, or Indiana specifically, might not be that good.
- 49:24SPEAKER_01: It might be both, but it's not neither.
- 49:27SPEAKER_01: Say it again.
- 49:28SPEAKER_01: Whoa, wait a second.
- 49:29SPEAKER_01: Northwestern might be sneaky good.
- 49:32SPEAKER_01: Indiana might not be that good.
- 49:34SPEAKER_01: It might be both.
- 49:36SPEAKER_01: It's not neither.
- 49:37SPEAKER_01: I'm not sure which one it is.
- 49:38SPEAKER_01: It's one or both of those things.
- 49:41SPEAKER_01: That's my takeaway from that game.
- 49:43SPEAKER_02: This is all my take is one vote.
- 49:45SPEAKER_02: That's my take for this game.
- 49:46SPEAKER_02: Northwestern got one vote in the top 25 poll.
- 49:50SPEAKER_02: Indiana got one number one vote in the top 25 poll.
- 49:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 49:53SPEAKER_03: There you go.
- 49:54SPEAKER_03: Aiden Chiles has the ability to surprise a lot of people.
- 49:57SPEAKER_03: So yeah.
- 49:58SPEAKER_03: Good on them.
- 49:59SPEAKER_02: Speaking of speaking of a surprise, we one game we were looking at last week was Arkansas hosting Tulsa.
- 50:04SPEAKER_02: We liked what we saw to Tulsa.
- 50:06SPEAKER_02: They beat Oklahoma State, but Arkansas came out, put up 34.
- 50:09SPEAKER_02: Tulsa only put up six.
- 50:11SPEAKER_02: Guys, what did we learn about this game?
- 50:13SPEAKER_01: First of all, hand up.
- 50:14SPEAKER_01: That's me.
- 50:15SPEAKER_01: It's my bad.
- 50:15SPEAKER_01: I talked y'all into that one.
- 50:16SPEAKER_01: Go ahead and take the L on that one.
- 50:18SPEAKER_01: Look, my one note for this one.
- 50:21SPEAKER_01: Good job, Arkansas.
- 50:22SPEAKER_01: If they had lost this game, it would have been five alarm fire.
- 50:27SPEAKER_01: Oh my god.
- 50:29SPEAKER_01: The ceiling is collapsing.
- 50:30SPEAKER_01: Everything is going wrong.
- 50:31SPEAKER_01: They avoided that.
- 50:32SPEAKER_01: So they got the win.
- 50:34SPEAKER_01: They should have spanked them.
- 50:35SPEAKER_01: They did.
- 50:36SPEAKER_01: That's it.
- 50:36SPEAKER_01: That's it.
- 50:37SPEAKER_01: Kudos to Arkansas for not letting the most epic catastrophe happen.
- 50:42SPEAKER_02: All right.
- 50:42SPEAKER_02: And for Tulsa's new head coach, Dabbo Sweeney beat Cal 24 to 10.
- 50:47SPEAKER_02: That's our final game we'll be going over.
- 50:49SPEAKER_02: What do we learn about Cal?
- 50:50SPEAKER_02: What do we learn about Clemson?
- 50:53SPEAKER_01: Two things.
- 50:53SPEAKER_01: Clemson, it might be okay.
- 50:55SPEAKER_01: Clemson might be okay.
- 50:56SPEAKER_01: They are playing defense well.
- 50:58SPEAKER_01: Tate Reynolds has to get better, their freshman quarterback, but they might be okay.
- 51:02SPEAKER_01: Dabo said it.
- 51:03SPEAKER_01: He said, you know, don't judge by the first game after losing by 50 to LSU.
- 51:07SPEAKER_01: Don't let's talk by the end.
- 51:08SPEAKER_01: I mean, would anybody be really shocked if Clemson spits out a nine and three season here?
- 51:13SPEAKER_01: You know, if he turns it around, rattles some wins.
- 51:15SPEAKER_01: I know there's a I know they have some big dogs coming, but it's not crazy to think Clemson could be an 8-4, 9-3 type team.
- 51:22SPEAKER_01: The bigger thing for me is just this, I'm just so disappointed with JKS.
- 51:25SPEAKER_01: I thought Cal would be better.
- 51:26SPEAKER_01: I thought Tosh Lupai was going to be better.
- 51:28SPEAKER_01: It's early.
- 51:28SPEAKER_01: It's year one.
- 51:29SPEAKER_01: I still like that guy a lot.
- 51:31SPEAKER_01: I think they're going to get better.
- 51:32SPEAKER_01: They can't do anything.
- 51:33SPEAKER_01: Everything is hard for Cal.
- 51:34SPEAKER_01: Everything and I thought they were a sneaky ACC contender.
- 51:38SPEAKER_01: They are not.
- 51:40SPEAKER_03: But up to you, Mark.
- 51:41SPEAKER_03: Mark, your um your pre-season, preseason hot take was that Clemson will make the playoffs.
- 51:46SPEAKER_03: So you are live.
- 51:48SPEAKER_03: Mike, you're alive with you know, and I've got BYU, you've got Oklahoma State.
- 51:52SPEAKER_03: All of our pet teams have have come back to life here, week four.
- 51:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I didn't like that one much the last couple weeks, though, but maybe I'll take it.
- 52:01SPEAKER_02: All right, looking back at these games, the favorites were five and five against the spread.
- 52:04SPEAKER_02: There were three outright upsets with Wisconsin, Oklahoma State, and Iowa.
- 52:08SPEAKER_02: Of our games we looked at, four hit the over, six hit the under, and two games were decided by half a point based on the over-under.
- 52:16SPEAKER_02: That was the Penn State under and the Iowa-Michigan State over.
- 52:20SPEAKER_02: Dang.
- 52:21SPEAKER_02: Great week of football.
- 52:22SPEAKER_02: Great weekend of football.
- 52:24SPEAKER_02: Over to you, Mike.
- 52:38SPEAKER_01: We're going to start previewing the next week.
- 52:40SPEAKER_01: The Virginia Schools have some monsters coming.
- 52:42SPEAKER_01: Red River is not going to start slowly.
- 52:44SPEAKER_01: We're going to hit the ground running.
- 52:46SPEAKER_01: So make sure you are tuned in and ready for that.
- 52:48SPEAKER_01: With that, I'll just I'm going to go ahead and say goodbye.
- 52:50SPEAKER_01: Thanks for coming to y'all.
- 52:51SPEAKER_01: See you next time.
- 52:57SPEAKER_01: What was I thinking of post?
- 53:02SPEAKER_03: We gotta hit the book.
- 53:03SPEAKER_03: We gotta hit the book to do our better remote.
- 53:08SPEAKER_02: You are more anti-artic than protein.
- 53:12SPEAKER_03: And then Silverfield, Silverfield needed it.
- 53:15SPEAKER_03: Like it's a
