- 0:00Speaker 1: Well, I'm not ready yet. It's been gone five days.
- 0:05Speaker 1: I forgot how you do everything year. I forgot where
- 0:06Speaker 1: everything is. Anyway, we've got a lot to talk about today.
- 0:10Speaker 1: So what a Memorial Day weekend? I never saw whether
- 0:15Speaker 1: like that as you're leaving town Friday, the most beautiful
- 0:18Speaker 1: sunny day, as you're coming back last night, most beautiful
- 0:23Speaker 1: sunny evening, and then in between nothing but rain. It
- 0:27Speaker 1: was the worst weather ever for a Memorial Day weekend.
- 0:31Speaker 1: But I mean, it was a great Memorial Day if
- 0:34Speaker 1: you own an umbrella store or something like that. But
- 0:37Speaker 1: a lot to get to today. We're we're going to
- 0:39Speaker 1: get to all the latest on Iran. We'll run that
- 0:40Speaker 1: down for you. Colbert goes off the air. I wasn't
- 0:43Speaker 1: here for that the next day, but we'll do the
- 0:45Speaker 1: autopsy of exactly what went wrong. New Jersey Governor Mikey
- 0:51Speaker 1: Cheryl getting a lot of criticism for pulling the cheapest
- 0:55Speaker 1: publicity stunt. A lot more to get to anywhere. To
- 0:59Speaker 1: start with, I ran, negotiations look pretty good according to
- 1:03Speaker 1: the President. Now you've got to put an asterisk on that.
- 1:05Speaker 1: That's you know, there is a Donald Trump exaggeration factor sometimes,
- 1:10Speaker 1: but it seems to be going well and they are
- 1:14Speaker 1: coming to our you know, our terms on a lot
- 1:16Speaker 1: of stuff. It's pretty much ninety percent agreement now. Now,
- 1:19Speaker 1: of course, remember every agreement around makes they always break
- 1:24Speaker 1: in no time at all. But they've agreed to give
- 1:28Speaker 1: up the nuclear stuff. Yeah, they've agreed to give up
- 1:32Speaker 1: everything nuclear. Now they're sticking point is they're not yet
- 1:37Speaker 1: totally agreeing to never again pursuing any nuclear material, but
- 1:42Speaker 1: that'll come. They tried to pulling some crap over the weekend,
- 1:47Speaker 1: especially yesterday Memorial Day. They had some suspicious ships out
- 1:51Speaker 1: there trying to lay mines straight of horn Moves in
- 1:55Speaker 1: the Gulf. They were trying to mine the gulf. So
- 1:58Speaker 1: our military, our force in navy quickly quickly blew them up.
- 2:03Speaker 1: So there was some bombing yesterday as we took out
- 2:06Speaker 1: a number of ships and vessels that were trying to
- 2:10Speaker 1: lay mines. They were completely destroyed. Yesterday, the US, calling
- 2:14Speaker 1: them self defense strikes sent comp spokesperson said the US
- 2:18Speaker 1: military eliminated several IRGC boats that were seen mining the Strait.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Also took out a surface to air missile site in
- 2:28Speaker 1: bomber Abbas. The missile site was at Iran's primary naval station.
- 2:34Speaker 1: They thought it was targeting a US warplane. It was
- 2:36Speaker 1: quickly taken out, so that'll help the negotiations a little.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Now here's there's how it's done. If they give up
- 2:43Speaker 1: the nuclear stuff. It's mostly dust. It's mostly nuclear dust
- 2:48Speaker 1: under the rubble of the nuclear reactors we took out
- 2:51Speaker 1: and everywhere else we thought there was nuclear material, we
- 2:54Speaker 1: bombed the hell out of it. So it's basically dust
- 2:56Speaker 1: in the ground. But it can be extract believe it
- 3:01Speaker 1: or not. We know how to do that. We're very
- 3:03Speaker 1: good at that. We've got teams that actually know how
- 3:05Speaker 1: to get in, get nuclear material and remove it. We
- 3:09Speaker 1: had to do that in Libya after Kadafi gave up
- 3:13Speaker 1: his nuclear material. These teams went in and got it all,
- 3:16Speaker 1: scooped it up and knew how to get it out
- 3:18Speaker 1: of the ground, knew how to transport it out of there.
- 3:21Speaker 1: So they haven't agreed on how this will be done.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Option number one, we will go in get the nuclear material,
- 3:30Speaker 1: either destroy it in Iran, which can be done, or
- 3:34Speaker 1: we will remove it ourselves. Option number two, this is
- 3:38Speaker 1: the one Iran is leading towards. They will turn over
- 3:41Speaker 1: their nuclear material to Pakistan or Turkey or Russia or
- 3:47Speaker 1: China or some other country we can't trust, but they
- 3:52Speaker 1: may like that option.
- 3:53Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 3:54Speaker 1: I don't know if any other country wants to receive
- 3:56Speaker 1: nuclear material and have to store it, it's better if
- 4:00Speaker 1: we just go in and get it out. But again
- 4:04Speaker 1: I like that option. We would just go in and
- 4:07Speaker 1: destroy it. There. There's another third option, which is not
- 4:10Speaker 1: too good. Iran would agree to heavily dilute it. Keep
- 4:14Speaker 1: the uranium, but dilute it. If you want to use
- 4:19Speaker 1: the nuclear material for commercial purposes, for energy purposes, you
- 4:24Speaker 1: enrich it to about twenty percent. For a nuclear weapon,
- 4:28Speaker 1: you got to get it to ninety percent. Well, Iran
- 4:32Speaker 1: had it up to sixty percent and climbing. That's why
- 4:35Speaker 1: we went in when we did. They were getting close
- 4:37Speaker 1: to weaponizing it. So diluting it, I don't know. That
- 4:41Speaker 1: would require very intense international oversight. That'll be subject to
- 4:46Speaker 1: more negotiation. So I like that we go in and
- 4:51Speaker 1: destroy it there. I think that's the best option. So
- 4:54Speaker 1: we'll see what happens with that. Hey, this crazy governor
- 4:57Speaker 1: New Jersey, and know if she's crazy just silly, he's
- 4:59Speaker 1: kind of a silly Governor, Mikey Cheryl. I don't know
- 5:04Speaker 1: why she needed to do this. She's now the governor
- 5:07Speaker 1: early in her term, seems to be, you know, not
- 5:10Speaker 1: having any controversy, any problems. I don't know why you
- 5:12Speaker 1: need these cheap publicity stunts, but it might be a
- 5:15Speaker 1: sign of things to come. Big ice facility in New Jersey,
- 5:21Speaker 1: and if any official wants to go into the ice facility,
- 5:24Speaker 1: it's easy enough to do. You call Homeland Security, you
- 5:27Speaker 1: call up and you make arrangements to visit, and they
- 5:30Speaker 1: will give you a tour of the ice Facility's done
- 5:32Speaker 1: all the time. Robert Menendez Junior did that. Some other
- 5:36Speaker 1: local officials in New Jersey toured the ice vestle. You
- 5:39Speaker 1: can do that, Mikey Cheryl had she called and arranged
- 5:43Speaker 1: not on Memorial Day weekend, but during the week. Come in,
- 5:47Speaker 1: they'll give you a tour. She didn't do that deliberately. Instead,
- 5:51Speaker 1: she just showed up screaming outside the doorway, and of
- 5:54Speaker 1: course had a mob with her, and it caused controversy
- 5:57Speaker 1: and they couldn't let her in that way too chaotic.
- 6:01Speaker 1: And then she runs around all over to every TV camera,
- 6:04Speaker 1: yelling and screaming they wouldn't let her in. They wouldn't
- 6:06Speaker 1: let her in. Well, you know, it doesn't work that way.
- 6:09Speaker 1: It's like your NBC News. You wanted to do a
- 6:11Speaker 1: story on Rikers Island, you'd call up Rikers Island officials,
- 6:17Speaker 1: you tell them what you want to do. They'd arrange
- 6:19Speaker 1: for you to visit. They'd have people escort you through
- 6:22Speaker 1: Rikers And that's how it's done. That's how you see
- 6:24Speaker 1: those prison documentaries. You arrange it with the prison to
- 6:27Speaker 1: show up and they'll escort you through there. If you
- 6:32Speaker 1: just showed up outside Rikers Island yelling and screaming with cameras,
- 6:35Speaker 1: of course they don't know what the hell it is
- 6:36Speaker 1: and they're going to chase you away. So Mikey Cheryl
- 6:39Speaker 1: did this fake phony publicity stunt. She could have easily
- 6:43Speaker 1: arranged to go in, but deliberately didn't. Instead, she shows
- 6:46Speaker 1: up yelling and screaming with signs and protesters, and then
- 6:49Speaker 1: for the publicity stunt, screams about how they wouldn't let
- 6:52Speaker 1: her in.
- 6:52Speaker 3: We've been working with ice to get into the facility.
- 6:56Speaker 4: I was just denied that this morning.
- 6:58Speaker 5: I was hoping that, well, we certainly will.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Uh, but it's obviously just a cheap publicity stunt. You know,
- 7:08Speaker 1: if you showed up here at iHeart downstairs, they got
- 7:11Speaker 1: all kinds of security and if you demand to come in,
- 7:14Speaker 1: you can't come in. But if you called us or
- 7:16Speaker 1: we're supposed to want you to come visit, we leave
- 7:20Speaker 1: your name downstairs a guest pass, you come in. That
- 7:22Speaker 1: that's how it's done. Now here's Robert Menendez Junior. Now,
- 7:26Speaker 1: by the way, he did arrange properly and went in
- 7:29Speaker 1: and toward the facility. But it's a couple of days
- 7:33Speaker 1: later and now they got this great publicity stunt going
- 7:35Speaker 1: were you're gonna be on Cameron, be all over the
- 7:37Speaker 1: news and get a lot of publicity. So he pretends
- 7:39Speaker 1: he couldn't get access. He's pretending now lying actually him
- 7:43Speaker 1: pretending's a kind word. He's lying that he never got in,
- 7:46Speaker 1: that he never saw the facility.
- 7:48Speaker 6: The reason they want to make this as hard as possible.
- 7:49Speaker 6: They won't let the governor in is because they don't
- 7:52Speaker 6: want us to tell the stories of what's happening inside.
- 7:54Speaker 6: Because when we tell the stories, everyone in New Jersey
- 7:57Speaker 6: and people across the country realize this is not who
- 8:00Speaker 6: you are as a country. But a reflection of who
- 8:02Speaker 6: we are in this moment under the Trump administration.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Now, if you weren't sure just about how phony this
- 8:07Speaker 1: guy is, he was just inside the day before he
- 8:09Speaker 1: had a tour. We need to tell the story. You
- 8:12Speaker 1: were there, Tell the story, tell us what you saw. Hey,
- 8:16Speaker 1: let's get to Stephen Colbert. How many of you are
- 8:19Speaker 1: proud to say that in his twenty one years on
- 8:23Speaker 1: television you never once watched Colbert. I mean a lot
- 8:26Speaker 1: of people, probably ninety nine percent of the country more
- 8:30Speaker 1: than that, actually never watched Colbert. It was a loser show.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Now you could argue, oh, it's number one among the
- 8:37Speaker 1: late night shows, but only because the late night shows
- 8:39Speaker 1: had slipped so far down that they had no audience.
- 8:43Speaker 1: He had the tiniest late night audience in the history
- 8:47Speaker 1: of CBS television. But it was enough to beat the
- 8:52Speaker 1: other Jimmy Kimmel with even worse. Fallon has no ratings,
- 8:56Speaker 1: and the other thing was losing forty million a year. Now,
- 9:02Speaker 1: the suspicious part is how did it stay on the
- 9:04Speaker 1: last couple of years losing forty million a year. Now,
- 9:07Speaker 1: there's a you're going to see all over the internet today.
- 9:09Speaker 1: Somebody has put out a document that's totally fake. They
- 9:12Speaker 1: just made it up. It's a fake financial statement of
- 9:15Speaker 1: the Colbert Report showing that it made one hundred million
- 9:18Speaker 1: a year. Was absolutely no truth to it. It comes
- 9:22Speaker 1: from a guy on substack who just made it up.
- 9:24Speaker 1: Put it up on substack, and every left wing kookside
- 9:27Speaker 1: is putting this financial statement. It didn't even look like
- 9:30Speaker 1: a financial statement. It's what an amateur thinks it would
- 9:33Speaker 1: look like. But it's totally fake. The show lost forty
- 9:37Speaker 1: million a year. The CBS can tell you that. And
- 9:43Speaker 1: what ratings did the big sign off get? How many
- 9:46Speaker 1: people tuned in? Now, that sign off got a hell
- 9:49Speaker 1: of a lot of publicity, and actually, by all measures,
- 9:54Speaker 1: by any measure, the sign off ratings were disaster. It
- 9:58Speaker 1: got six point seven million people. Six point seven million.
- 10:03Speaker 1: That might sound good, Well, let's remember David Letterman's sign
- 10:08Speaker 1: off got fourteen million, Conan O'Brien sign off and that
- 10:12Speaker 1: was no big deal. But Conan O'Brien's sign off got
- 10:14Speaker 1: ten and a half million, Jay Leno sign off got
- 10:19Speaker 1: fifteen million. Johnny Carson It's years ago, got fifty five million.
- 10:26Speaker 1: Fifty five million, So compare that to six point seven million.
- 10:31Speaker 1: It's really not good. Yeah, so it's like ten percent
- 10:35Speaker 1: of what Johnny Carson got twelve percent actually, so by
- 10:39Speaker 1: any measure, a total total disaster. Now, I don't know.
- 10:44Speaker 1: You gotta remember the other thing. It was losing money.
- 10:46Speaker 1: Everybody inside the business knew was losing about forty million
- 10:49Speaker 1: a year. And that's why nobody else has offered him
- 10:53Speaker 1: a job. It was announced ten months ago he's being canceled. Well,
- 10:58Speaker 1: ABC didn't offer him anything. CB just didn't offer him anything, HBO, Netflix, nobody, nobody, syndicators,
- 11:05Speaker 1: nobody offered him anything. Even Conan O'Brien, who was considered
- 11:11Speaker 1: at at the time a disaster on The Tonight Show.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Soon as he went off, he was offered immediately show
- 11:16Speaker 1: on TBS every night. Colbert has been offered nothing because
- 11:21Speaker 1: they know the actual numbers, and what company in their
- 11:24Speaker 1: right mind would say, hey, we could lose forty million,
- 11:26Speaker 1: let's get him. So nothing on the horizon. He wrote
- 11:31Speaker 1: a screenplay, a sequel to The Hobbit, which the studio loves,
- 11:35Speaker 1: some movie studios, so they've hired him to write that.
- 11:38Speaker 1: That's his next project. Now. The weirdest thing he did.
- 11:43Speaker 1: I don't know what this was all about. He's off
- 11:46Speaker 1: the air Thursday night, final show. The next night, Friday night,
- 11:49Speaker 1: he shows up in Monroe, Michigan. It's a small town
- 11:53Speaker 1: in Michigan to go on a local, tiny, local public
- 11:58Speaker 1: access cable show or something. It's called only in Monroe,
- 12:03Speaker 1: and he took over as the host. Monroe has a
- 12:06Speaker 1: population of twenty thousand people, so let's say a couple
- 12:11Speaker 1: one hundred people, maybe a thousand peopment the most were
- 12:14Speaker 1: watching this thing and he hosted the show for it
- 12:17Speaker 1: was just a weird, weird thing to do, but that's him.
- 12:19Speaker 1: He's a weird, peculiar guy. He opened with a monologue
- 12:22Speaker 1: full of jokes and then talk to a few people
- 12:29Speaker 1: asked if the beer Milwaukee's Best was a sponsor. The
- 12:32Speaker 1: actor Steve Bichemy made a cameo. Now apparently it's gone
- 12:36Speaker 1: up online, it's been post it's on YouTube. It's ever
- 12:40Speaker 1: so a lot of people are watching that. Somebody originally
- 12:45Speaker 1: was going after the copyright and pulling it down, but
- 12:47Speaker 1: they decided who cares, let them, let people watch it.
- 12:49Speaker 1: So it was very odd Byron Allen takes over the
- 12:53Speaker 1: time period of Stephen Colbier. It's Comics Unleashed or whatever
- 12:57Speaker 1: it's called. It's not bad. It was pretty good. It's
- 13:01Speaker 1: a change, a complete change from Colbert in that it's
- 13:03Speaker 1: a comedy show where they actually go for laughs. Colbert
- 13:07Speaker 1: never went for any laps, so he did. It's what
- 13:09Speaker 1: they call clapter, where you say something so ugly about
- 13:12Speaker 1: Trump the audience just starts clapping instead of laughing. They
- 13:16Speaker 1: clap at every joke. They call that clapter. It's an
- 13:19Speaker 1: easy thing to do. It's much tougher to get laughs
- 13:21Speaker 1: than clapter. Clapter is easy. Just say something people are
- 13:24Speaker 1: all going to agree with and they start clapping. So
- 13:27Speaker 1: as far as Colbert on real television, I don't think
- 13:30Speaker 1: you'll ever see him again. I think that's it. Strange,
- 13:34Speaker 1: strange sort of guy. And he was the opposite of
- 13:36Speaker 1: every late night host. Every late night successful host was
- 13:41Speaker 1: like an all American Midwest you know, Johnny Carson, Jack Parr,
- 13:46Speaker 1: Steve Allen. They came from the Heartland. They were like
- 13:49Speaker 1: regular guys. Letterman was that way, Jay Leno, you know,
- 13:55Speaker 1: the most regular guy in the world under a car
- 13:58Speaker 1: working on the engine, a regular guy. Colbert was totally different.
- 14:02Speaker 1: I mean he was from some small but he wasn't.
- 14:06Speaker 1: He was a very elitist, Northeast leadst son Time sort
- 14:11Speaker 1: of a guy.
- 14:12Speaker 2: You know.
- 14:12Speaker 1: He was a kind of a Broadway singing dancing poofy
- 14:17Speaker 1: kind of a Sonheime kind of and he loved sond
- 14:21Speaker 1: Time and he woul talk about again, that's not the
- 14:24Speaker 1: formula for late night, late night. You got to be
- 14:27Speaker 1: a normal, normal American there they can relate to. So
- 14:31Speaker 1: he's not the type most people would relate to begin with,
- 14:34Speaker 1: and then he goes super partisan so that half the
- 14:37Speaker 1: country can't watch anyway. It's the dumbest business model ever
- 14:42Speaker 1: in the history of late night TV. But as Clemenza
- 14:45Speaker 1: would say, you won't see him again anyway. We'll take
- 14:49Speaker 1: take some calls. Next eight hundred three to two one
- 14:52Speaker 1: zero seven ten is the number, eight hundred three to
- 14:56Speaker 1: two one zero seven ten. Hey, it's Tuesday, remember that,
- 15:01Speaker 1: not Monday. It's Tuesday. We're all back. Everybody's back today.
- 15:04Speaker 1: Let's let's go to the phones. Let's take some calls.
- 15:06Speaker 1: Let's go to John in Florida. John, how you.
- 15:09Speaker 5: Doing, Good morning, Mark, doctor Florida. Mark. I was just
- 15:13Speaker 5: sight on Barnie. They're given Trump a hard time about
- 15:16Speaker 5: the ballroom. Republicans, the least they can do for this
- 15:20Speaker 5: man who's let him have his ballroom. They waste more
- 15:23Speaker 5: money than any more people that have caught it up liverpills.
- 15:26Speaker 1: Yeah, well, it's just whatever Trump wants. They hate Trump's
- 15:30Speaker 1: for it. There against it the ballroom. The terrible shooting
- 15:34Speaker 1: incident at the White House this past few days, a
- 15:37Speaker 1: gunman opened fire, a lunatic Secret Service had to shoot
- 15:40Speaker 1: him and kill him, and then President calling for the ballroom.
- 15:43Speaker 1: This well, and a lot people say, what does that
- 15:47Speaker 1: have to do with the ballroom? How does he connect it? Well,
- 15:50Speaker 1: a couple of reasons. One, when they do the big
- 15:53Speaker 1: events at the White House, they do him outside in
- 15:55Speaker 1: a tent. You don't want to be out there outside
- 15:57Speaker 1: when they're shooting. The other reason for the ballroom, it's
- 16:00Speaker 1: totally bulletproof. And the other reason is it's not just
- 16:03Speaker 1: a ballroom. They're going six stories underground, six floors down.
- 16:07Speaker 1: The reason for that is they're building the most incredible
- 16:10Speaker 1: state of the arts security bunker. Should there ever be
- 16:13Speaker 1: a real threat to the President, he goes in that
- 16:16Speaker 1: security bunker. The current security bunker under the White House
- 16:19Speaker 1: is very outdated, not up to speed, not fully adequate,
- 16:23Speaker 1: so they would build a really serious underground security facility.
- 16:26Speaker 1: That's why he keeps connecting this stuff to the ballroom.
- 16:29Speaker 1: Let's go to Dave in Chicago. Dave, how you doing.
- 16:33Speaker 3: Good morning, Mark.
- 16:34Speaker 1: I'm doing very well.
- 16:35Speaker 2: Thank you. Mark. We no.
- 16:36Speaker 3: President Trump just completed his trip to China. What I'm
- 16:40Speaker 3: asking is will Air Force one be retired and replaced
- 16:43Speaker 3: with a new aircraft before the end of the president's urn.
- 16:48Speaker 1: I'm not sure there is a new aircraft, a new
- 16:51Speaker 1: air Force one coming. I don't know if it'll be
- 16:52Speaker 1: ready by the time the President gets done. But good question, Dave.
- 16:56Speaker 1: You know it takes years to build these things. That's why.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Remember the Saudis or Dubai whoever was going to lend
- 17:03Speaker 1: him that special jet. That's why. That's why he wanted it,
- 17:05Speaker 1: because the new Air Force one may not be believe
- 17:10Speaker 1: or not. It can take three, four or five years
- 17:12Speaker 1: to build those things. Let's go to Kate in Queen's Kate.
- 17:15Speaker 1: How you doing, Hi, Mark?
- 17:17Speaker 7: I love your show.
- 17:18Speaker 1: Thanks.
- 17:19Speaker 7: What that guy for real who puts out the fake
- 17:23Speaker 7: financial saying Colbert took in a hundred million?
- 17:27Speaker 4: I cracked up.
- 17:28Speaker 7: Yeah, they would never get rid of them.
- 17:30Speaker 1: Is the guy in knit with No it's just the
- 17:33Speaker 1: left wing like loves fake documents. They put out fake
- 17:36Speaker 1: stuff all the time. It's a guy on substack who
- 17:37Speaker 1: made up this fake financial statement showing Colbert made up
- 17:41Speaker 1: hundred run with it. Yeah, yeah, it's good. You're gonna
- 17:44Speaker 1: see it all over the place, every left wing kook site,
- 17:47Speaker 1: media site, all the left wing kook sites, Daily Beast,
- 17:51Speaker 1: all the real left wing wacko sites, they'll they'll start
- 17:55Speaker 1: publishing it. It did not this. First of all, there's
- 17:57Speaker 1: no show in television that makes a hundred millionayere, no
- 18:00Speaker 1: primetime show makes a hundred million year anymore. I mean,
- 18:03Speaker 1: that's the thirty year old ideas. But it's a totally
- 18:06Speaker 1: fake financial statement, doesn't even look like a real one.
- 18:10Speaker 1: But I already see the left wingers posting it all
- 18:12Speaker 1: over Facebook today. If he was making a hundred million
- 18:15Speaker 1: a year, first of all, they win to cancel it's.
- 18:17Speaker 1: Second of all, if he was making a hundred million year,
- 18:19Speaker 1: every network in the world, every streaming service would be
- 18:23Speaker 1: calling him to get him on. Let's go to Jan
- 18:26Speaker 1: in New Jersey. Jan, how you doing, Oh Mark?
- 18:30Speaker 7: Not so good? I'm very discouraged about the Mets, and
- 18:33Speaker 7: I was hoping that you might have some advice for
- 18:35Speaker 7: Mendoza to help us Mets sad.
- 18:38Speaker 1: Chance see you said, oh not good. I was so
- 18:40Speaker 1: worried you were sick something awful, and now it turns out, well,
- 18:43Speaker 1: it's just as awful.
- 18:44Speaker 7: How bad the Mets are doing.
- 18:46Speaker 1: How long you've been a Mets.
- 18:47Speaker 7: Fan since I was a little girl.
- 18:51Speaker 1: You should be used to it. You get nervous when
- 18:53Speaker 1: they win. They always lose every season. It's Mets tradition.
- 18:57Speaker 7: Well, don't you have any advice from I don't have
- 19:01Speaker 7: advice for you to become a Yankee fan.
- 19:03Speaker 1: If you've been a Yankee fan all these years, you
- 19:06Speaker 1: have twenty seven World championships. Be a yank?
- 19:10Speaker 7: What what Me and my brother were remembering. We were
- 19:13Speaker 7: singing the old Mets theme song and that kind of
- 19:15Speaker 7: cheered us up. Do you remember it? The old Mets song?
- 19:18Speaker 1: Yeah, Wingle, Where are you from?
- 19:19Speaker 7: Originally Staten Island?
- 19:21Speaker 1: No, well, aren't Staten Island people usually Yankee fans?
- 19:25Speaker 7: No?
- 19:26Speaker 1: No, no, no, I mean Queens Long Island. They tend
- 19:29Speaker 1: to be Mets fans.
- 19:31Speaker 7: Yeah, we're discouraged. We need to be encouraged.
- 19:35Speaker 1: Well, the Yankees always win, the Mets always lose. What
- 19:38Speaker 1: is it you love about the Mets?
- 19:40Speaker 7: Oh, meet the Mets. Greet the Mets. Step right up
- 19:45Speaker 7: and meet the Mets. That old jingle that's encouraging.
- 19:48Speaker 1: How much would you charge not to sing? Anyway? Thanks
- 19:53Speaker 1: for claw. Let's go to uh Joe in Elmwood Park. Joe,
- 19:58Speaker 1: how you doing?
- 20:00Speaker 4: I told you from the beginning, she's a clown. Now
- 20:03Speaker 4: we were talking to Mickey Shirley and Uh, there's estimated
- 20:10Speaker 4: one million illegals in New Jersey. And why don't you
- 20:14Speaker 4: concentrate on getting our taxes down and getting our utilities
- 20:18Speaker 4: down instead of worrying about Let Ice do your job.
- 20:21Speaker 1: Yeah, stop fighting law enforcement. It's law enforcement illegals. They're
- 20:26Speaker 1: here illegally. They're breaking the law. And that's one reason
- 20:30Speaker 1: your taxes are so high. You got millions of illegals
- 20:32Speaker 1: you're financing. That's why everything's high. Your tax your property,
- 20:35Speaker 1: tax expenses, everything. That's the job number one of the
- 20:40Speaker 1: job number one of a governor. Get taxes down, make
- 20:44Speaker 1: the place livable again, get all these costs down.
- 20:47Speaker 2: You know.
- 20:47Speaker 1: It's like we'll talk about this in the next hour.
- 20:49Speaker 1: Are these supermarkets, these Mamdani supermarkets. You know the reason
- 20:53Speaker 1: they can sell it cheaper. They have no property tax,
- 20:56Speaker 1: they have no regulation they have That's why they can
- 20:58Speaker 1: lower the price. You got a mill and supermarkets just
- 21:01Speaker 1: make suspend their property tax, take away their property tax
- 21:06Speaker 1: and all their costs, and they'll sell it cheaper for you.
- 21:09Speaker 1: Then you won't have to spend twenty billion building all
- 21:11Speaker 1: these supermarkets. Hey, when we come back, the greatest columnist
- 21:14Speaker 1: in the world, Michael Goodwin, will be with us next. Well,
- 21:19Speaker 1: Michael Goodwin the best columnists in America. You can read
- 21:22Speaker 1: them every Sunday and every Wednesday in the New York Post.
- 21:25Speaker 1: And all of his columns are up on the New
- 21:27Speaker 1: York Post website. You can go there and read them.
- 21:29Speaker 1: And he's with us now. Michael Goodwin. How you doing okay?
- 21:33Speaker 2: Mark?
- 21:33Speaker 8: Thank you?
- 21:34Speaker 1: Hey? You wrote about the Democrats did a big autopsy
- 21:39Speaker 1: to figure out what went wrong in the election of
- 21:42Speaker 1: twenty twenty four. It is the phoniest, fakest, most ridiculous
- 21:48Speaker 1: non autopsy I've ever seen. What are they thinking?
- 21:52Speaker 8: Well, the one truth is that it was written by
- 21:56Speaker 8: a part time temporary work I mean, this is this
- 22:02Speaker 8: is the way I guess for the party, the distance itself.
- 22:06Speaker 2: From the product. But you're overall, you're correct.
- 22:11Speaker 8: It's a disaster and it doesn't really point a way
- 22:16Speaker 8: to any real solutions.
- 22:18Speaker 2: I focused on the one issue.
- 22:21Speaker 8: That I think it did get right, and that was
- 22:25Speaker 8: that the Tamaa Harris has sunk herself with that video
- 22:32Speaker 8: showing her supporting surgery for transgender criminals, no questions asked,
- 22:40Speaker 8: everybody's entitlement, and Donald Trump turned it into an ad.
- 22:45Speaker 8: And it's a great ad in which recounts her words
- 22:50Speaker 8: and then the voiceover says she.
- 22:55Speaker 2: Is for they them, Donald Trump is for you.
- 23:00Speaker 8: And I think it was a brilliant summation, and to
- 23:04Speaker 8: its credit, the report did go into some detail talking
- 23:08Speaker 8: about how posters how Trump spent so much money running
- 23:12Speaker 8: his ad over and over in the Swing States, and
- 23:15Speaker 8: posters agreed it was very effective.
- 23:19Speaker 1: Yeah, except it looks like they haven't learned their lesson,
- 23:22Speaker 1: you know, with these crazy extremist positions. They're taking even
- 23:25Speaker 1: more of them. They're talking about AOC for the nominee.
- 23:28Speaker 1: It sounds like they're going even further the left. What
- 23:31Speaker 1: are they thinking?
- 23:33Speaker 8: Yeah, I agree, I mean that You're right to extent,
- 23:37Speaker 8: and they seem not to have learned anything about the
- 23:41Speaker 8: American voters. And I think that it does point out
- 23:45Speaker 8: the fact mark as you say, they're moving further and
- 23:48Speaker 8: further left. I mean we see that in New York
- 23:52Speaker 8: right with Hamamdani is kind of dragging HOCAL and the
- 23:57Speaker 8: legislature into into socialism camp. And of course montdonni on
- 24:04Speaker 8: the anti Semitism, I mean that is a that's a
- 24:07Speaker 8: feature of the new left. So yeah, we're seeing it
- 24:12Speaker 8: all the country in the Blue States, the Blue cities,
- 24:15Speaker 8: and we'll see how the Democrats do in the midterm.
- 24:20Speaker 8: But also quickly followed by the lineup for the twenty
- 24:25Speaker 8: twenty eight presidential election. Right now, you know Avin Newsom
- 24:30Speaker 8: aoc I mean, who's going to be their candidate. It's
- 24:35Speaker 8: not a very talent rich field.
- 24:38Speaker 1: Yeah. And why are they talking about redoing our government,
- 24:41Speaker 1: redoing democracy again? Really electoral college, stacking the Supreme Court,
- 24:47Speaker 1: making Puerto Rico and DC state. Why are they talking
- 24:51Speaker 1: so radically, Well.
- 24:54Speaker 8: They want what they want and apparently the country zution
- 25:00Speaker 8: stands in their way. The amendments of free speaks, all
- 25:06Speaker 8: these things block the total mindset takeover of the far left.
- 25:13Speaker 2: This is a look you and I talked about this.
- 25:17Speaker 8: This is a perilous time for the country when you
- 25:21Speaker 8: think about just since the World War Two, what the
- 25:26Speaker 8: world would look like if America were not the country
- 25:31Speaker 8: it has been strongest military, you know, a beacon for
- 25:37Speaker 8: freedom around the world. If you take all of that away,
- 25:42Speaker 8: what do you have left?
- 25:45Speaker 1: Yeah, you think the fact that Mamdannie won so easily
- 25:49Speaker 1: in New York is encouraging them, and they don't realize
- 25:53Speaker 1: that's just crazy New York that the rest of the
- 25:55Speaker 1: country is not going to vote for radicals like that.
- 25:59Speaker 8: I think they're playing sort of a long game mark
- 26:04Speaker 8: wherever they can get a win, they'll take it and
- 26:08Speaker 8: go to the bank on it and then move up
- 26:10Speaker 8: the ladder. I mean the way mom Donnie has convinced
- 26:16Speaker 8: the HCAL that she should go along with him. I mean,
- 26:20Speaker 8: he's calling the shots in Albany, and she's doing it,
- 26:24Speaker 8: of course, because she believes that's how she'll.
- 26:27Speaker 2: Win her election in the fall.
- 26:30Speaker 8: So that's how it happens, kind of, one election at
- 26:34Speaker 8: a time, the takeover is proceeding.
- 26:39Speaker 1: Yeah, Hey, when the Deblasio got elected, the radical Deblasio.
- 26:45Speaker 1: He started catering to the billionaires, to the business crowd.
- 26:48Speaker 1: They all got his cell number. He was taking good
- 26:50Speaker 1: care of them. So he pretended to be radical. But
- 26:53Speaker 1: meantime those guys loved them and they made sure he
- 26:55Speaker 1: got reelected. We don't see, mom, Donnie, if following that
- 26:58Speaker 1: same path, do he?
- 27:00Speaker 8: No. I think you're I think you're right that uh
- 27:04Speaker 8: de Blasio is kind of a fake faith socialist, right.
- 27:08Speaker 8: He liked to sleep in, you know, he didn't really
- 27:12Speaker 8: want to work, all that kind of stuff. Give him
- 27:15Speaker 8: a little money, you'll get what you want. But I think,
- 27:19Speaker 8: Mom Donnie, to that in that regard is a true
- 27:24Speaker 8: believer in the cause. And we see all the different
- 27:29Speaker 8: tentacles of that cause. They're all destructive to the world
- 27:34Speaker 8: as we know it.
- 27:37Speaker 1: Hey, the Israel Day Parade is coming up, Mom, Donnie
- 27:39Speaker 1: looks like he's not gonna go. That's probably a smart decision.
- 27:42Speaker 1: I don't think he should, and I don't think anybody
- 27:44Speaker 1: wants him there, do they.
- 27:46Speaker 8: No. I've just reading a speech this morning from a Rabbi,
- 27:51Speaker 8: Mark Schneier on the East Side, and he said, thank you,
- 27:55Speaker 8: thank you for not come. We don't want you and uh,
- 27:59Speaker 8: you know you're you're out for Judaism, You're not. You know,
- 28:04Speaker 8: a little scenario is so ridiculous. So I think I
- 28:08Speaker 8: think the broke, the break with large parts of the
- 28:12Speaker 8: Jewish community is pretty complete.
- 28:14Speaker 2: Of course, there.
- 28:15Speaker 8: There are those Jews who do support him, and probably
- 28:19Speaker 8: some who are sitting in the middle and in between
- 28:22Speaker 8: the two groups. But yeah, I think it's this issue
- 28:26Speaker 8: has not run its course, that's for sure.
- 28:29Speaker 1: Yeah. You know what's funny, he was at the next game.
- 28:32Speaker 1: As soon as the Knicks won last night, he tweeted out,
- 28:34Speaker 1: that's not very socialist, is it too? That's not the
- 28:39Speaker 1: real hymn, is it?
- 28:41Speaker 2: No?
- 28:42Speaker 8: I look, I think to a certain extent, you know,
- 28:46Speaker 8: he's kind of a creature of his own swamp in
- 28:50Speaker 8: the sense that he he follows, you know, he follows
- 28:54Speaker 8: is whatever whichever way the wind is blowing on certain
- 28:59Speaker 8: certainer issues. Yeah, like all politicians, he wants to be
- 29:03Speaker 8: in the parade. And you know, I once earned someone
- 29:07Speaker 8: to describe a politician's parade. Watch a politician watches which
- 29:13Speaker 8: way the parade is going. In the runs they get
- 29:16Speaker 8: in front. Yeah, and I think, gotcha, what he's doing
- 29:20Speaker 8: with popular issues like the next I mean, he can't
- 29:23Speaker 8: be against the Knicks right now in New York.
- 29:26Speaker 1: Yeah, that's true. Well, Michael Goodwin, great stuff. Your next
- 29:29Speaker 1: column is tomorrow. Michael Goodwin is every Sunday and every
- 29:33Speaker 1: Wednesday in the New York Post and all his columns
- 29:36Speaker 1: are up on the New York Post website. Great talking
- 29:38Speaker 1: to here, and we'll do it again soon. Thanks for
- 29:40Speaker 1: being with us.
- 29:42Speaker 2: Mike Pleasure, Mark, thank you.
- 29:44Speaker 1: Take care. Hey, beautiful Sonny Day. It's gonna be like
- 29:47Speaker 1: this all week. It's gonna be Sonny eighties, you know,
- 29:50Speaker 1: around Eightyes, it can be like that this week through
- 29:53Speaker 1: the weekend. Well, I guess it makes up for that
- 29:57Speaker 1: Memorial Day weekend. Hey. Now, the fact that it was
- 30:00Speaker 1: raining all weekend that usually helps the box office. The
- 30:05Speaker 1: fact that it's a rainy weekend makes everybody go to
- 30:09Speaker 1: the movies that you know was on the fence about it.
- 30:11Speaker 1: So but still the Mandalorian and Grogu not good. Not
- 30:19Speaker 1: good for a Star Wars sequel record low opening just
- 30:24Speaker 1: eighty one million. That's not good. Well, actually if you
- 30:28Speaker 1: add in memorially, but ninety seven million. But that's not
- 30:32Speaker 1: good for a Star Wars franchise movie and considering it
- 30:37Speaker 1: rained all weekend all over the Northeast, that should have
- 30:40Speaker 1: helped the box office. It didn't, so it had a rough, rough,
- 30:44Speaker 1: rough weekend. You know, it's not George Lucas anymore. He's
- 30:49Speaker 1: out of it, so it's not the same thing anymore. Lucas,
- 30:53Speaker 1: you know, the original Star Wars. He didn't want to
- 30:55Speaker 1: do it, but they got him to do it, and
- 31:00Speaker 1: he made a deal. He agreed to do it for
- 31:01Speaker 1: very low money, which they couldn't believe. He just wanted
- 31:05Speaker 1: the rights to the merchandising and back a million years
- 31:09Speaker 1: ago the movie studio said, what does he want that for?
- 31:11Speaker 1: So they came the merchandising rights. Who cares about that?
- 31:14Speaker 1: And he did it for low money, well off the merchandising.
- 31:17Speaker 1: He literally became a billionaire, a billionaire and still makes
- 31:22Speaker 1: a fortune to this day off all the merchandising. So
- 31:24Speaker 1: it was a brilliant move. Michael Jackson movie is the
- 31:28Speaker 1: box office king right now. It's up to about three
- 31:30Speaker 1: hundred and fifty million already, and Michael Jackson music is
- 31:34Speaker 1: selling like crazy and downloading like crazy all over the place.
- 31:38Speaker 1: As a result of the movie. Big comeback. Hey, we
- 31:41Speaker 1: got a lot to get to in the next hour.
- 31:44Speaker 1: I'm back ten to noon every day, and of course
- 31:47Speaker 1: the podcast anytime Back after the News seven to ten
- 31:50Speaker 1: wo
