- 0:25It feels good. It feels good to be in this treehouse. I'm donal
- 0:29ally along with friends, co workers. At one point, Tray Trenholme and
- 0:34Alphie Coy Hello. I never like to just assume or presume that you guys
- 0:43have seen certain things on social media that I've posted, or maybe that my
- 0:47wife has posted. I think Trey typically does, but Alphie likes to be
- 0:51more reclusive when it comes to social media, and the things that I think,
- 0:56Alphie, you typically interact with are the things that are, you know,
- 1:00that you consider to be cool. So I don't know if what we're
- 1:03doing now is is high up on your cool meter. It should be,
- 1:10you think, so, yeah, y'all are picking up chicks. Oh,
- 1:15the boat guy finally convinced you to join that lifestyle. You know what,
- 1:21Alfie, this is one of those times I know how you feel when I
- 1:23use bad puns. Sucks, doesn't it? Even I'm embarrassed to that one.
- 1:34You're embarrassed, but you're also really, really proud. I can see
- 1:37it. It's it's all in your face. You're like, yeah, it's
- 1:40screw it. I'll say it. Yes, we have we have gotten back
- 1:45in. We have gotten back into Jesus. We've got back into the chicken
- 1:49game. So this has nothing to do with the boatman. The boat man.
- 1:57No, no, this has nothing to do with the boat although interestingly,
- 2:00the chickens that we got came from a boat lady. And in the
- 2:07future, you know, y'all do have the ability now to say, hey,
- 2:13come back to our place. We make chickens. We don't make chickens,
- 2:17tray, we just we just acquired chickens and they make eggs, and
- 2:23then and then I'll make eggs, but I don't. I don't make chickens.
- 2:29You get the right ratio hens, the roosters, you'll you make it
- 2:31chicks. Yeah, I'm not really. Our fingers are still crossed on that.
- 2:36So we did this this uh, this past week. There's a lady
- 2:40who lives on a boat right off of Water Island, which is one of
- 2:46the four US Virgin Islands. Water Island, Yeah, it's right next to
- 2:51u It's on the south, just south of Saint Thomas. It's next to
- 2:53Dirt Island. There's not a dirt island, Alfie, they're all dirt island.
- 3:00Well, yeah, these are rock He lives on a boat. She
- 3:06lives on a boat and she raises chickens, and so just just imagine what
- 3:09that must be like. It's sort of like the Beverly Hillbillies, but you
- 3:15know, on a yacht. She raises chickens on a boat. Yes,
- 3:23that's why I said, we got chickens from a boat, lady. But
- 3:24and it had nothing to do with that, you know, weird old boat
- 3:28dude. And you couldn't. Yeah, I mean, I don't know if
- 3:34we've ever discussed this or not, but there are numerous wild chickens in and
- 3:38around your property. You couldn't just corral some of them, Trey. It's
- 3:43taken every ounce of energy I have and effort to keep Tara from doing just
- 3:51that. Why and it's it And it's been close a couple of times,
- 3:54because there was a time, I think it was last year, we were
- 3:58here and in the driveway, like we're at the top of the stairs that
- 4:01go down into the driveway, and at the top of the stairs, Terras
- 4:04stops and lifts her head up, and I can tell she's heard something.
- 4:11She heard chipp heard baby chickens, and she could tell they were close.
- 4:15So she threw all of her stuff that she had in her hands to the
- 4:18ground and scampered down the stairs, made a hairpin, turned to the left
- 4:25and found two baby chicks cowering in a corner because they were afraid of two
- 4:29iguanas who were giving them the side eye across the street. We did not
- 4:36keep them. We had to relocate them to like a like a chicken colony,
- 4:41like ten minutes away. Why not you had free, free chickens right
- 4:46there. I understand that, and it was easy. They were right there.
- 4:48She picked him up, she held them, and because they know,
- 4:50they were terrified of these of these you know, island dragons, and we
- 4:56weren't in a position to keep them because we weren't living here. So we
- 4:59couldn't, you know, do something with these chickens and then just leave them
- 5:01and then have nothing or no one to care for them. I was about
- 5:05to say, because it seems like it would take a lot for you to
- 5:10get Tarata not keep two baby chicks. The only thing that kept it from
- 5:16happening was the fact that we didn't live here, and she she knew logically
- 5:20it was not it did not make sense how much she did stay a couple
- 5:26of times. We could just go ahead and move here now, right as
- 5:29she's holding the chickens and holding them in front of my face, She's like,
- 5:31we could just I could just stay. How much did you pay for
- 5:35these chickens, Dan, that you got from boat lady? I don't know.
- 5:39Tara didn't tell me. You have to have seen some sort of credit
- 5:43card record or cash exchanged. Nope, separate accounts. I have no idea
- 5:47what she paid for these chickens, but it was her money, whatever it
- 5:50was. How much would a chicken like this cost on the market? What's
- 5:54the market value of? Tell me Dan, where did chickens close that today?
- 6:00Probably higher than than the dal Jones Um. I don't know what the
- 6:05going rate is for chickens here. I'll have to ask her. But I
- 6:10know for similar breeds that that we that we bought in Texas when we first
- 6:16got into chicken ing, I think they were like thirty, thirty or forty
- 6:23dollars each. Yeah, so you guys got two? No, we have
- 6:29six? Oh my god. Yeah. So Trey is right. There are
- 6:35chickens run a muck on these islands. They are everywhere. They are the
- 6:41absolute definition of free range. Actually there's not It's it's not even fair to
- 6:45say free range, because even free range makes it sound like they, you
- 6:47know, come in for the evening. No, they're just out. They're
- 6:51everywhere. You have feral chickens, yes it is. Yeah, yeah,
- 6:55you're right, feral chickens. And so those are those are the street chickens.
- 7:00Those are like the street thugs, right, So they're not the they're
- 7:03not the quality chickens that you want in your yard right there. They don't
- 7:09want to fa underneath their chicken eyes. Yeah they got yeah, they got
- 7:14the little egg drops underneath their eyes. They've you know, got the knives
- 7:16on their feet and stuff. Seem like you one at least one for security.
- 7:25Yeah, I'll see how it goes. Where's your out because you know
- 7:28how it is. I mean, if you get a bunch of these domestic
- 7:30chickens in our yard, eventually some big bad Farrell roosters gonna be like,
- 7:36hey, yeah, I see over here, and maybe he just moves in.
- 7:44Have you already built a chicken coop? Uh? Not a full blown
- 7:48coop yet, because there's still baby chicks. They were only born like a
- 7:53week ago, if that so right now, we're just we have them in
- 7:58a and we have them in an enclosure. That has like brick pavers on
- 8:03all four sides, and then like a top that we've put on the top.
- 8:07So, uh, when will you be installing your cock camera? You're
- 8:18proud again, You're so so proud of yourself. The cock cam tray is
- 8:24already operational, thank you very much. We had a we had and this
- 8:30is not intended. It's just what it's called. We had an additional nest
- 8:33cam that wasn't being used. So no, Alphie, that's that's not a
- 8:39joke. It's just it's what it's called. It's a nest cam. I
- 8:46didn't call it an egg drop cam, which I could have. That's not
- 8:50a pun. But some of them are called drop cams. Oh, I
- 8:56see, yeah, that's all. Yeah. Anyway, No, that the
- 8:58chicken camera went in the same day that we got the actual chickens tree.
- 9:03I've even got the notifications when there's motion, and believe me, when there's
- 9:07motion on what Tara has titled the chicki Cam, she is on it.
- 9:13She's got to make sure nothing is near those baby chickens. Ye ta take
- 9:18some tips and advice from Everett with his owl cam, No, because he
- 9:24doesn't have any owls yet. So I think so far. Tara's kind of
- 9:28got a got a one clock up on every Oh my god, I'm going
- 9:33back here. Yeah, okay, yeah, it's fun sometimes like yeah,
- 9:41but no, no, So we got the chickens back because I don't know,
- 9:43we still get people asking us questions about what happened to your chickens because
- 9:48when they find out that we moved, I guess they did. They've missed
- 9:52all the times we had said on the radio that right before the Big Freeze
- 9:56in twenty twenty one, we had given the chickens. We had two friends
- 10:01of ours who live in Arlington, because we knew that we were going to
- 10:05be selling our house. We knew that we were going to be moving into
- 10:11an RV for a little while while while we decided our next steps. And
- 10:15we couldn't have the chickens at an RV. That was no, So they
- 10:20went. We moved them to Arlington by Lake Arlington with friends of ours.
- 10:24So we were chickenless for you know, a couple of years. But now
- 10:28now that we're we're sort of settled in here. Tara found the chicken on
- 10:33a boat, lady, and now we've got six new chicks. They were
- 10:37eventually eat those chickens. Now, why not you mean the chickens we had
- 10:43previously. Yeah. No, I'm not saying did you, I'm saying do
- 10:46you do? People like, is that part of the chicken life cycle?
- 10:52You get a chicken, it lays a bunch of eggs, and once it
- 10:56hits a certain age, you're just like, all right, I'm eating you.
- 11:00That is standard I would say standard for you know, farms and ranches,
- 11:03because if you have you have sort of like your eating chickens, and
- 11:09then you have your laying chickens, and then once you're once your layers are
- 11:11done laying, then yeah, you probably eat eat them because they're no longer
- 11:16producing. They're just costing you money. I see, um, but that's
- 11:18not the route we're going. Taras sees the chickens much more as pets.
- 11:26Well, even though she and I both grew up with plenty of headless chickens
- 11:28running around that you know, in the morning they were running around on two
- 11:33legs and a head, and by middle of the day they were, you
- 11:37know, lunch. What did the chicken ladies boat look like? I am
- 11:46just absolutely befuddled by that. I mean, as someone who has raised chickens,
- 11:52and had a chicken coop with one hundred and twenty chickens and know the
- 11:54absolute nastiness that ensues. How how how on a boat? I believe it's
- 12:05I believe she's on a catamaran. That doesn't answer the question, Dan,
- 12:09you just no excuse me, Trey, it's a catamaran. No. Trey
- 12:13asked what kind of boat she's on, So I said it's a catamaran.
- 12:16No. The condition of her boat, Oh, I don't know. I
- 12:20didn't see it. I mean, I guess there's one thing. I mean,
- 12:22I guess you can just hose the damn thing off. But you just
- 12:26you do is you just flip it around in the water a couple of times,
- 12:30it just rinses right off. Alphie, have you ever been around chickens?
- 12:37I mean, I've seen a chicken, I mean, like, but
- 12:39anyway they poo. Most recently, when you went to that petting zoo in
- 12:43Garland and you saw the goat ass open up, yeah and drop things from
- 12:46its insides. Where there any chickens running around? There were not the portal
- 12:50to oblivion inside that goat's ass did not contain any any chickens. There were
- 12:56no chickens at that farm. All I've ever seen with chickens up close,
- 13:01or I think they have some of the State Fair, don't they, where
- 13:05it's like, you know, here's prize chickens and stuff like that. And
- 13:07then there was that one chicken at penny Whistle Park that used to play tik
- 13:09tac toe against that I never beat jackass. It's a very humbling experience,
- 13:16Prick. I didn't know penny Whistle Park was still around when you were in
- 13:20your formative years, Alfie. Yeah, very was very very young before they
- 13:24shut it down. But because because that chicken broke so many young children's dreams.
- 13:31Stupid chicken. How did it always know? How did it always know
- 13:35the right move to make? And the other thing too, is it's picking
- 13:39on little kids. I was no more than maybe like four or five,
- 13:43and this chicken's out here rocking me with frigging grand master tik tac toe strategies.
- 13:50Jackassed chicken. How old were you? Four or five? So your
- 13:56first bully was this chicken, stupid ass chicken, and find it, I'd
- 14:00eat it, probably already dead, jerk gass chicken. Yes it is yummy.
- 14:09It is, yeah, very very common here too. By the way,
- 14:18Dan, you're not training any of your chickens to play tick tectoe,
- 14:20are you? Well? I am, I'm considering it now. They start
- 14:26getting a big head, start thinking that they're better than humans. Stupid ass
- 14:31chicken. You guys want to be teto. Yes, you you've never seen
- 14:37this before? No? Oh my god, there was a Okay, so
- 14:41it's a and and I lived in North Texas for like thirty years. It's
- 14:46not just a North Texas thing. It's it's a thing like a carnival thing.
- 14:50I guess like every every town has a bully chicken. I'm sure they
- 14:54do. D Did you ever go to Penny Whistle Park? No? I
- 14:58don't, I think so, so if I did, we can just add
- 15:03it to the long list of things I no longer remember. But yeah,
- 15:07I don't mean, I don't even I've heard of it, but I don't
- 15:09know really what it is or where it was. It was a small,
- 15:11like almost amusement park, very small micro amusement park inside of a warehouse on
- 15:18Northwest Highway and Lake Highlands. I think, who I'm sorry just by that
- 15:22description. No parents now would would take their kids to that it was it
- 15:30was big enough because I think at one point after Penny Whistle park it for
- 15:33a brief minute it was like a roller rink, so that should give you
- 15:39some idea about the size of it. But it was basically a little indoor
- 15:45amusement park that it was fantastic. But like if I remember correctly, Alfie,
- 15:52it seems like right when you walked in, that chicken was almost front
- 15:56and center taunting you. Yes, and you had to pay to play it.
- 16:00It was like fifty cents a dollar or something like that to play this
- 16:03chicken too. Yeah, yeah, and you think, okay, this sounds
- 16:07fun. I would love to show my prowess as the top of the food
- 16:11chain and really just shove it in this chicken's face and beat its ass at
- 16:15tic tac toe. And so you, as a five year old, decide
- 16:18yes, I will spend a dollar on this, and you put your quarters
- 16:21in, and then the game starts and the chicken just absolutely stomps your ass
- 16:26every time. I think the best you could hope for against that stupid ass
- 16:30chicken was a maybe a draw like the grand master of tic tac toe.
- 16:37Imagine you versus Bobby Fisher and chess, but you gotta pay him twenty bucks
- 16:41every time you play, and you know he's going to kick your ass.
- 16:45So I'm curious, then, so did this chicken did it? Did it
- 16:48play other games or is it solely a tic tac toe thing, just tic
- 16:52tac toe. I didn't know if maybe it like branched out and would also
- 16:56kick your ass at the claw game. I'm going back over here, Kray.
- 17:06Let screw it. You're listening to the Treehouse. Visit us online that
- 17:14Treehouse on air dot com time not a welcome in Rodney Anderson to the Treehouse.
- 17:33His phone number what you're going to need right now is nine seven two
- 17:36five fifty two hundred. The website is Rodney Anderson dot com. So,
- 17:41Rodney, I noticed the other day I was reading that the national average on
- 17:45a home mortgage is now seven point one percent. Now, obviously what happens
- 17:51in North Texas is different than what happens across the country. So I'm curious
- 17:55what you're seeing in the market right now in North Texas. Well, here's
- 17:59what's basically happened, and Dan is, Yes, the interest rates have gone
- 18:02up because debt ceiling talks, and hopefully over the next week we get a
- 18:06deal and we start seeing interest rates move a little bit lower. But the
- 18:10DFW metroplex is a lot different than the housing market across the country. Across
- 18:15the country, many housing markets are really slowing down to a certain point.
- 18:18The DFW metroplex is so hot right now that we're seeing people make offers on
- 18:23properties and they're competing against four or five other offers. So the first thing
- 18:27you need to do is make sure you're fully preapproved. Why is that so
- 18:32important? Sellers are want to o are you for real? And I had
- 18:36a buyer just the other day make an offer on a property and the listing
- 18:38agent, the person that had the house for sale, called me three different
- 18:44times to verify what I had on these clients. And when I said,
- 18:48they have excellent income, assets, credit all I need to contract and I'm
- 18:51ready to go, then she calls me back a little bit later. Can
- 18:55you meet a June twenty second closing day? Yes? Thirdly, how fast
- 19:00can I get them fully underwritten and fully approved? They're already there so than
- 19:04then the next day I get a contract on the home. So people don't
- 19:08understand the quality of a lender DAN is so important and the quality of the
- 19:12lender that you're working with, because many of these decisions of multiple offers are
- 19:17being made based on who the lender is and what their reputation is. Absolutely,
- 19:22and I can speak from personal experience because the very first house that my
- 19:25wife and I bought in Carrolton years ago, we used you, Rodney,
- 19:29and the reason why, one of the biggest reasons why we were able to
- 19:33get that house for ourselves is because we had you as our lender and we
- 19:36had done all those things that you just said because you told us to and
- 19:40it paid off. That sounds like a situation you want to be in.
- 19:44So you need to give Rodney and his team a call right now nine seven
- 19:47two fifty two hundred nine seven two nine eighty five fifty two hundred or get
- 19:52lots of great info along with application stuff on his website. It's Rodney Anderson
- 19:56dot com. You're in the Treehouse. Visit us online a treehouse OnAir dot

- 20:15and Restorations. Their phone number eight three three Cook DFW, the website Cook
- 20:21dfw dot com. Yeah, if you need a new roof, there's a
- 20:25storm you need to check to see if there's some damage. If our guys
- 20:27a cook DFW Roofing and Restoration a call eight three three cook DFW or cookedfw
- 20:33dot com. Right, Alphy, I'm curious because I caught like the tail
- 20:40end of something that you were telling Trey earlier before we started the show.
- 20:45What is it that that you want to do? You want to eat the
- 20:48rich? No, I don't want to eat the rich. I'm just annoyed
- 20:49at one lady, one stupid ass lady. Oh what did you do?
- 20:56I didn't do anything, really, I was being a normal human being and
- 21:00she was just rude. I was okay, I'll play along. What did
- 21:06she do? Okay? So I was leaving North Park the other day,
- 21:10there's your first problem. Well, I was. I was in there shopping
- 21:12doing you know, fashion photography stuff. And you spend more time at malls
- 21:18now than I ever did as a kid. And that was back when the
- 21:22thing to do was go to the mall. Oh yeah, it's it's part
- 21:25of the gig. But um, I was leaving the mall and I was
- 21:30walking out and right in front of right in front of the mall, there's
- 21:36all this like, you know, just parking where it's either valet or just
- 21:40she had a really really good as spot and I'm walking through the parking lot
- 21:42towards my car. This is that valet, like like the valet stand in
- 21:47front of PF Chanins. Uh yeah, kind of exactly. And I just
- 21:51saw her car park there, and I don't know whose car it was.
- 21:53All I saw was that it had a funky license plate. And it was
- 21:56curious to me because it was a white range Over and it had a European
- 22:03style license plate but with a Texas license plate number right, So it's one
- 22:08of the long European ones you see in like James Bond movies, where it's
- 22:12a bunch of numbers and letters and looks all who you know. Yeah,
- 22:15that was the first thing I thought, because when you say European license plates,
- 22:18all I see is the one on the Aston Martin that flips down and
- 22:22then the guns come out, exactly something like that. She had a European
- 22:26style license plate on her range Rover and on the left hand side it said
- 22:30Texas and then a thingy. And I was curious because I was under the
- 22:36impression that that's not legal, that you can't just go I've made my own
- 22:44license plate. Here's the numbers. You're welcome, officer. Was it on
- 22:48the front or back? It was on the back, and I was curious
- 22:52about it. And I'm walking past. I keep looking at the car,
- 23:00going like, how is that legal? So I look at the front to
- 23:03see if it has a license plate on it and if it's the same European
- 23:06style, and it doesn't and there's no license plate at all. But while
- 23:10I'm looking at it, I see this woman walk up and start opening up
- 23:14the side door. And I not shout at her, but I, you
- 23:18know, not hollow either. What's a good word? I go, hey,
- 23:22quick question, because I'm not shouting at her. I'm not screaming at
- 23:27her. I'm not hollowing at her because that sounds like I'm hitting on her.
- 23:30But I just go, hey, quick question, right, just like
- 23:33that, and this awful bitch just gets in the car as quick as she
- 23:40can, slams the door and just shakes her head no at me. And
- 23:44I'm like, you piece of trash, what the hell? Because you said
- 23:48hey, yeah, exactly wait did you said hey, quick question? Hey?
- 23:52Quick question? Okay? And I'm far enough away to where like if
- 23:56she's worried about me. He worried about me stealing her purse or something.
- 24:00Crap. No, there's also police there. There's almost always police by this
- 24:04entrance, asked the North question, go for it. Did I miss something
- 24:11because I went to look up European style license plates in Texas and I want
- 24:17did I miss a chunk of the story or did I hear this correctly when
- 24:18you said you see this lady getting into a ranger over with the license plate
- 24:22and you just said, hey, quick question, Yes, that's there's nothing
- 24:26there. There's nothing in the middle there that I missed. Nothing else,
- 24:27And I wanted to ask her about the license plate, if it was legal
- 24:30or not. I go, hey, My question would have been, how
- 24:34did you get that that European style license plate? It's cool, you know,
- 24:37I want to know is that legal? And she didn't give me any
- 24:41opportunity to say anything to her. She just terrifiedly got in her car,
- 24:47which is understandable. I get it. I'm not a woman on my own
- 24:52out shopping many you know, many different stories you hear of women getting cat
- 24:57called and this and that, but this isn't one of those. I was
- 25:00just trying to ask her a question and for her to be so just tremendously
- 25:06rude. It annoyed me, so I flipped her off and walked away.
- 25:11But I feel like in her mind probably solidifies the fact that she had no
- 25:15business talking to you. Yes, yes, for sure. But my point
- 25:21is is, I'm trying to see it from her standpoint. It just seems
- 25:30either self absorbed or paranoid, or any number of different things. I'm all
- 25:37about being safe in public spaces. Right there have been times where I've been
- 25:41alone pulling up to a gas station and I've seen God, there was one
- 25:45time I pulled up to a gas station and I'm getting ready to get out
- 25:48of my truck, and all of a sudden, I see two dudes coming
- 25:51at my truck from like two different directions, from like ten o'clock and two
- 25:56o'clock, right, yeah, And one of them's on a like a mini
- 26:00bike, And I'm thinking, Okay, I don't know what the f this
- 26:02is. It's late in the evening. There's two guys coming at me.
- 26:04So I just put it in drive and just peel out out of there,
- 26:07Because you know, you get a sense of dangerous situations, and I think
- 26:12everyone, man, woman, whomever should avoid things like that. If they
- 26:17can sense it, if they can get out of a situation that could turn
- 26:19nasty, just bail. That's your easiest option. It's better to err on
- 26:23the side of caution. If you think something is up, then leave exactly.
- 26:29But my dumb looking ass, I wasn't looking, you know, disheveled
- 26:33or homeless or anything like that. I was reading a fashion magazine. I
- 26:37was reading a fashion magazine. So I was walking out of North Park.
- 26:41Maybe she thought that was some sort of a ploy, Like, It's just
- 26:45this guy clearly does not need to be like, he doesn't look fashion at
- 26:49all. Just annoyed the crap out of me. What are you wearing?
- 26:53Just a short sleeved T shirt and my like, you know those Lululem and
- 27:00pants that you have Dan, the ones that are like kind of like jeans,
- 27:03Yeah, they look like like slacks. Yeah, but they're very stretchy
- 27:07and comfortable. Yeah. The nice keep you keep you junk all oh happy.
- 27:12So you're wearing a T shirt and Lululemons and she was afraid of you.
- 27:17Yep. She probably thought you were going to ask her for money.
- 27:22That's what I thought, too, is is okay? Because they're are you
- 27:26know a fair amount of homeless people around North Park. But I mean I
- 27:33also probably are wearing Lululemons. That's true. Yeah, I'm sitting there reading
- 27:38a fashion magazine and it just it felt unjustified the rudeness that I got.
- 27:45By the way, after I got home, I googled whether or not those
- 27:48European style license plates are legal. They are most definitely not legal in text,
- 27:53they're not. Huh they're not. Yeah, because I went to a
- 27:57website it's uh, you can buy them online. It's Texas euro style license
- 28:03plates, but yeah, I can't find anywhere where It says, like,
- 28:07you know, for Texas Texas motor vehicles, about whether or not you can
- 28:11get one. Let me see what this is. Yeah, it like,
- 28:18since I believe that they still haven't renewed the whole you have to have a
- 28:22front license plate, so I think you can have one on front, but
- 28:26you still have to have a normal Texas plate on back. Is the last
- 28:29time? Oh, so you can get like a fun not legal, ridiculous
- 28:33plate on the front as long as you're the backside is good to go.
- 28:37I don't know about fun ridiculous, but I think you can get away with
- 28:41the European style, if it has your actual plate numbers on it. Oh,
- 28:48okay, it had her. It had her license plate on it too,
- 28:51like her actual plate numbers. And I know this because her license plate
- 28:56has the same three letter prefix that mine does. So it's like, okay,
- 28:59let's obviously a license plate number. But she didn't have an actual license
- 29:04plate anywhere else on her car that I saw. Point is is, if
- 29:07I'm a cop and I see one of these euro style license plates, that's
- 29:11an easy ticket for me. Yeah. Dpd's got better things to do with
- 29:18this. Right now. I see a lot of the pulling people over.
- 29:22Imagine how many more cops you can hire if you just busted all these fake
- 29:25eurostyle license plate people at North Park. At North Park, also, how
- 29:30much money would be brought in by busting the panhandlers asking for those rich ladies
- 29:36for money. They don't have money, Dan, You bust the rich people
- 29:38because you know they got pockets full of cash. The homeless guy, what
- 29:41are you gonna get a bottleful of pe or something like that. That's I
- 29:49feel like the North Park holumeless are are a little bit more upper crusted Thanese.
- 29:55Yeah, okay, but is this rude ass. Lady didn't need to
- 30:03be that rude, didn't. I get you took it personally. You took
- 30:06it personally, and I understand that because I have a tendency to take things
- 30:08personally that I shouldn't, but I do. And I understand that. You
- 30:14know that you're not a creep. You know that you're not asking her for
- 30:15money, you're not trying to rob her or anything else untoward. You just
- 30:19had a genuine question about her license plate. But instead she wanted nothing to
- 30:23do with you because you look like a Lulu Limon homeless dude at North Park
- 30:27Mall and she just get daddled the absolute audacity. Should I be this upset
- 30:36over this because it's obviously like stuck with me. It's been a few days
- 30:40and I'm still annoyed. Well, I think clearly what you need to do
- 30:45is you need to go back to that exact spot and wait until you see
- 30:51her again and ask her again, which is not near her car. Hey,
- 30:55I have a quick question still for Jesus that would be justifying her action.
- 31:00Listen, lady, I waited here this whole time. Tell me about
- 31:04your license plate. Meanwhile, the headline on Fox hour is something along the
- 31:08lines of strange altercation leads to gunfire at North Park. Mall Man, the
- 31:17I don't know I'm all about, especially like my female friends. I'll tell
- 31:22him, like, you know, hey, watch back, be safe,
- 31:23that kind of thing. But there's a certain line at which caution becomes paranoia.
- 31:30And it would have been perfectly fine to me had she just gotten in
- 31:37her car and acted like she didn't hear me. Okay, I get it.
- 31:41She she wasn't even that pretty. She was just kind of a rich
- 31:45looking blonde lady and diame a dozen in Dallas. Yeah, exactly. So
- 31:52while she's getting in the car, did she look at you and she just
- 31:55said nope? Or she didn't get look at you and she just said no,
- 31:56No, she looked right at me and she shook her head, nod
- 32:00like finger like no, no, not that bad. So she didn't exactly
- 32:05treat you like a dog, but close, it was damn close. The
- 32:07vibe that I got was, how dare you think you can talk to me?
- 32:13That's why I'm saying, maybe you go back to that exact look.
- 32:19That's the only way you're gonna get closure in this scenario. I don't want
- 32:22closure other than for a police officer or to enforce these laws that they deserve
- 32:25to be enforced for people like that to to get their come up, and
- 32:34and they certainly will given the karmic arc of the universe. And you know,
- 32:39I'm on I'm on board with you on that. You know, me
- 32:42and my justice boners, I'm all for. I want people to get the
- 32:45punishment and the consequences and all the negative outcomes that they deserve. Every single
- 32:52time I support that. That's why I like in movies and television shows.
- 32:57I love movies and shows about revenge. That's why Taken to Me is one
- 33:00of the most perfect Hollywood films ever. Someone did something bad, and you
- 33:04did something bad to the wrong dude's daughter, and you had to pay the
- 33:07price dearly for it. And that's why I love that movie. Also because
- 33:10it's an hour and a half and it didn't need to be two two and
- 33:13a half hours to exact punishment. So the other way you can go about
- 33:17this, Alphie, is the long game. What you can do is because
- 33:22Trey, you mentioned Dallas Police Department very much overwhelmed and understaffed, right,
- 33:29Yes, so Alphie, you can knock out two birds with one stone.
- 33:32So what you do is I'm listening. You go apply at DPD Okay,
- 33:37go through the academy, you become a police officer, and then you work
- 33:40your way up to the North Park patrol area and you wait in that parking
- 33:45lot until you see that woman and her illegal euro license plate. And then
- 33:51you walk up to her and say, hey, I asked you a question
- 33:52like six years ago. This all sounds justified. See doesn't it make sense?
- 34:01So now you can get an answer to your question and you can give
- 34:06the rich bitch a ticket. Perfectly reasonable solution, Dan, I like it.
- 34:09I like it. This is the best solution you've had to one of
- 34:14my problems in years. You know. It's something about the Caribbean air.
- 34:16It just helps me think more clearly. Seven years of police training, kidding,
- 34:22my certification, working my way up from nights just to go stake out
- 34:28the North Park parking lot toe because you're not gonna get you know, whatever
- 34:35subdivision that is in Dallas with that North Park is, They don't hand that
- 34:37out to rookies. No, you gotta go cut your teeth in northeast or
- 34:40or CB or is it CBD or that the Central business CBD or Southwest.
- 34:45You gotta you gotta earn your stripes there. Plus, the old adage is
- 34:50still true. Revenge is a dish best served cold. It's not revenge DWN.
- 34:54Not looking for revenge's looking for justice for somebody to story rude, revenge
- 35:00for someone to be so rude while also being such a scoff law, that's
- 35:06what I don't like. You could be. You could be, you know,
- 35:09a little miss illegal license plates as long as you're you know, winking
- 35:14a smile about it, like hey, yeah they're illegal, but don't tell
- 35:17nobody. And I'd be like, oh, okay, I got you,
- 35:20Yeah yeah, fight the power. But she was just awful and rude.
- 35:27So she deserves come up, and she deserves to have her illegal license plates
- 35:31taken away. How far away from you from her were you when you started
- 35:37talking to her? When I not yelled, not hollered, when I said
- 35:42hey, quick question, I would say I was, I don't know,
- 35:49three car lengths maybe four away, So it's not like you yelled at her.
- 35:54And then did you start moving in her direction? No, stop waived
- 36:00clearly had a fashion magazine in one hand, so one hand is waving the
- 36:04other hand is holding a fashion magazine and obviously not armed, not posing any
- 36:12sort of threat. Look, all I'm saying is you pull her over and
- 36:19then you tap on the window, and you say, I don't know who
- 36:22you are, and I don't know what you want, but I have a
- 36:25particular set of skills I've acquired over a long career leading to this moment.
- 36:32It's rational. I like it. Let's do it. You're listening to the
- 36:37Treehouse. Visit us online a Treehouse OnAir dot Com. Time out of Welcome
- 36:57in Jacqueline from Brooks Plumbing, the website brook Plumbing Texas dot com, the
- 37:00phone number two one, four, three six eight thirty eight thirty eight.
- 37:04Jacqueline, you told me something this week that I'm still kind of stunned by,
- 37:07and that is to get a license to be a plumber in the state
- 37:10of Texas, it takes more hours than it does to get a pilot's license.
- 37:15It's true. So here in Texas we are governed by the Texas State
- 37:19Board of Plumbing Examiners, and they hold us to a higher standard. They
- 37:22require the technicians, once you apply for your apprentice license, that you have
- 37:27to have a minimum number of hours in the field turning the wrench before you're
- 37:30eligible to apply to take your tradesman license, which is kind of the second
- 37:35tier. Third tier is your journeyman, and the fourth tier is your master
- 37:37plumber, which is the highest that you can go. But you have to
- 37:39have more hours in the field as an apprentice before you can test for your
- 37:45tradesman license than and you do have to become a commercial airline pilot. And
- 37:49I was actually on the phone with one of my friends who flies for American
- 37:52and he confirmed this just this morning. So honestly, I think it's a
- 37:57good thing because when I was telling somebody earlier, is that if it comes
- 38:00down to something that could possibly harm your family, like the risk of carbon
- 38:04monoxide poisoning, if something is plumbed in properly, like a water heater event,
- 38:07you want somebody with a license that understands the importance of doing it the
- 38:10right way versus hiring somebody who can just do it cheaper. So it's always
- 38:15best if something might risk your family's well being to go with the license contractor
- 38:20just my opinion, and that's a very valuable opinion. We value it here
- 38:23in the Treehouse. That's why we recommend you and your entire team to everyone
- 38:29in the treehouse. So give Rooks Plumbing Texas a call for any and all
- 38:31of your plumbing needs. Two one four three six eight thirty eight thirty eight.
- 38:35That's two one four three six eight thirty eight thirty eight, or of
- 38:37course the website Rooks Plumbing Texas dot com. It's the treehouse all right.
- 38:47Time not a welcome into the treehouse. Daniel Cook, owner and operator of
- 38:52Cook DFW Roofing and Restoration. It's great to see you and I'm so happy
- 38:57to have you in carrying the treehouse helping our listeners. Thanks Dan, appreciate
- 39:00you inviting us in. And uh it's always fun to listen to everybody,
- 39:04and uh we are really happy to be a part of this, so thank
- 39:07you very much. Well we are as well. And one of the first
- 39:10things I want to do with one of our first spots with you is to
- 39:15say I heard heard heard a dirty, dirty rumor about you, and I
- 39:17think we need to address it. Um, I had heard you were up
- 39:21on a roof the other night during a hail storm. Are you just trying
- 39:24to show off? It wasn't exactly during the hill storm. It was actually
- 39:29after so we weren't we weren't getting pelted or anything. We didn't have to
- 39:31wear our hard hatsu. But it was fun. I guess you could say
- 39:37it was fun me and one of my projects. So what happened One of
- 39:39my project managers, I mean got an emergency call ladyhead water coming into her
- 39:43kitchen from the ceiling, and uh, you know, they'll only own their
- 39:46home for a little bit, and so they were like really concerned with what
- 39:51was going on, and so they called us, um, they looked us
- 39:53up, and they called us out. We came out there. So the
- 39:57haill storm came through a round think got about six thirty that afternoon, and
- 40:00so they called us up and we got out there right at about eight forty
- 40:04five at night. It was getting dark, so we had to get us
- 40:07some flashlights, and we caught up in their attic and found out where the
- 40:09water was coming in. And then we got up on the roof and of
- 40:12course it's it's always a steep roof. Every time there's a water leak,
- 40:15it's always a steep roof. It can never be a flat roof, right,
- 40:19So maybe one of these did. So we have to put on we
- 40:22have to put on special boots and everything. So we're scaling this wet ten
- 40:25twelve roof in the middle of the night with flashlights trying to get these leaks
- 40:31stopped. Because the hall had been so big in this particular area, it
- 40:36actually penetrated the decking, so the actual roof was penetrated by this hell and
- 40:40so it basically allowed water to then start flowing into the to the roof,
- 40:45and that's where the water was coming into our ceiling ar in the kitchen.
- 40:47But we got up there, we made emergency repairs, we didn't fall off
- 40:51the roof, thank god, and we lived to tell another tale another day.
- 40:55So well, I'm glad for that, and I'm sure that lady was
- 41:00even happier that you guys are able to come out in such a fast manner.
- 41:05And that's the level of service that Daniel and his crew bring to your
- 41:08home. So if you have any sort of an issue with your roof,
- 41:10you're not sure, if there's an issue with your roof, it's right after
- 41:14a storm, give these guys a call because they're going to come out and
- 41:16give you outstanding, trustworthy service. Their phone number eight three three cook DFW.
- 41:22That's eight three three cook DFW or the website cook dfw dot com.
- 41:30You're listening to the Treehouse Visitors online a Treehouse OnAir dot com. This segment
- 41:38of the TREEHOUSEKI is brought to you by our friends at Brooks Plumbing the website
- 41:44Brooks Plumbing Texas dot com. That is Brooks Plumbing, Texas dot com.
- 41:49The phone number to give him a call for any and all of your plumbing
- 41:52needs is two one four three six eight thirty eight thirty eight. And as
- 41:55they said on their Instagram page the other day, flush the rest call the
- 42:04best books plumbing. That's pretty good. Family. You'll love that. No,
- 42:07no, I appreciate that because Brooks Plumbing Texas dot com. It evokes
- 42:13the image of poopoo as your competitors, and I like that kind of not
- 42:20even yeah, as long as you're she's she's basically saying, listen, the
- 42:24competitors are dukies. Come with me. I got. That's kind of like
- 42:30the the Treehouse page on Facebook. You know, when promoting uh one of
- 42:36our podcasts, one of our show releases, you know we put on there.
- 42:40Don't waste time on bad radio shows when a good podcast is right at
- 42:44your fingertips. It's true. It's true. Listening time the Yeah, why
- 42:52I don't waste it on crap? Um? So anyway, Yes, this
- 42:55secondent brought to you buy your friends at Brooks Plumbing Texas dot com. So
- 43:00earlier I mentioned Alphie, I wasn't sure if you had seen on social media
- 43:02that Terry and I once again have become chicken parents. Yes, and I
- 43:08don't know if you saw this as well. Um my wife was kind of
- 43:14uh post happy this week. Um, she played her own version of could
- 43:22the answer be c this week? And I don't love it. I'm guessing
- 43:32you did not see that though. No, hold on, Yeah, you
- 43:37don't like it when your own bit writes itself against you? No, I
- 43:40don't. It's not fair, especially because this is the time of year.
- 43:50What is that, Alphie? Will she ragging on you specifically? Um?
- 43:52Yeah, I'll get to that in a second. Well, hang on,
- 44:01I haven't seen the post, but Tara's right. I don't need to see
- 44:04the post. Tara's she's got a good head on our shoulders. She's right,
- 44:07Yes, yes, she does. I know that very well, Alphie.
- 44:09On this one, she was absolutely right. Yeah, Trey. So
- 44:15this also comes to that the tera is right. I look, I'm not
- 44:20saying she's wrong. I'm just saying I don't like it, which is perfectly
- 44:24fine. I've asked the Alphie in dance defense. He is the only one
- 44:31in most of the three of us that actually has been able to have a
- 44:35long term, stable, serious relationship. That's that's because he has good friends
- 44:38next to him that buttress his wife's opinions and positions on things. It is
- 44:46interesting how like you're you're supposedly quote unquote my friends, but you actually support
- 44:53her more than me. Yep, welcome so And to that end, this
- 44:59makes sense because there's a tie in here. Around this same time that Tara
- 45:01has this post where she's playing one of our bits against me on social media,
- 45:07is it's also around that time of year every year where we celebrate our
- 45:12anniversary. She and I've now been married for eleven years. And part of
- 45:15what's interesting about that, thank you, And part of what's interesting about that
- 45:20is Trey. I was just looking through a couple of photos from our wedding
- 45:23day. Trey was one of one of my groomsmen, and it's just nice
- 45:28to see that as we're looking through those photos of so many people that are
- 45:32no longer in our lives, which is interesting in and of itself. I'm
- 45:36glad to know that Trey still is and Eat and Alfie. You were not
- 45:38a groomsman, but you were there. You also took some great photos which
- 45:43I'm not sure if I've ever seen. But it's nice to know that YouTube
- 45:47guys are still in my life. Thank you. Tara's right, that is
- 45:53nice. Dan. I saw those pictures and it does make you feel good
- 45:59that you know still around. And it really is a weird thing because Tara
- 46:05and I were looking through some of those old photos this last week, and
- 46:09you go through, we're we're going through looking at all these photos, and
- 46:14I would venture to say half the people at our wedding are no longer in
- 46:19our lives, at least at least not with any sort of regularity. Like
- 46:22there have been some people that have straight up disappeared. Now I don't think
- 46:27they're in danger, but they've just like just there's just no contact whatsoever.
- 46:30It's sort of like a weird relationship you just kind of grow apart. I
- 46:32guess other people seem like they're sworn enemies for some reason. I don't know
- 46:37why that is. It's just a weird thing how you can look back at
- 46:42one day in your life and see all these people that were so important to
- 46:45you at the time that you invited them, but then just over a decade
- 46:49later, you think, like I'm saying, half of them nowhere to be
- 46:52found. It makes me feel good knowing that Tara is right again. I'm
- 47:02not disagreeing with it. I just don't always like it. So the game
- 47:10she played on me this week on social media was could the Answer? BC?
- 47:15And I just wasn't prepared for that. Her post read, Let's play
- 47:21a game, who can guess what happened to this toilet paper roll? And
- 47:24it's one of those alfie where it's like you ever get a new roll of
- 47:28toilet paper and you can't find the seam where the the role is supposed to
- 47:34start, where the paper is supposed to start. It's just all one sheet
- 47:37for some reason. It's a little start a line. Yeah, yeah,
- 47:40So that's what happened with one of these rolls of toilet paper. So Tara
- 47:45does her own damn could the Answer BC? By saying let's play a game,
- 47:47who can guess what happened to this toilet paper roll? Is it a
- 47:51the cats found a fun toy. B the chickies tried to make a nest
- 47:55or. See. My husband got frustrated that multiple sheets stuck together when opening
- 48:00the roll and ripped the chunk out of the side. M hmm. And
- 48:04then there's of course a photo of the damaged roll of toilet paper shredded.
- 48:10And I don't like it. Why it was well written. It was well
- 48:15written, and that's why. That's why I don't like it. You know,
- 48:19eleven years married, fourteen together, and and and she's using our own
- 48:24bits against me. I don't know what to tell you. Yeah, I
- 48:35mean, there's there's no discussion here. Terri's right again. I'm not saying
- 48:39she's wrong, because that is exactly what happened. The answer is ce I
- 48:44got frustrated because there was no seam on the toilet paper and I ripped that
- 48:46mother apart. Right, I'm not going to put a seam on the toilet
- 48:52paper roll. I'm anna make one. Now. If you crawl in bed
- 48:58one night and she's got buzzers out and to play rock and roll Jeopardy,
- 49:00then you might want to rethink things. Does Tara have that electric shocking thinging
- 49:07that we have because I can send it to her right now any more anymore
- 49:12rock and roll trivia or game playing and will we may not make it to
- 49:17twelve. I've had my fill of that over the recent years, not with
- 49:23her, obviously. So what did you do to this toilet paper roll?
- 49:27You just absolutely like, like, what was your thought process? Is what
- 49:30I want to know. You're sitting I was trying to find I was trying
- 49:32to find the seam in the toilet paper roll to start it to where it
- 49:37could be used, and yeah, there just wasn't one to be found,
- 49:39so I just tried to make one. So you just started tearing into the
- 49:44side. I get that. How many layers deep did you start tearing?
- 49:46Like six? Oh my god, do you not have any finesse? I
- 49:52have finesse layer. This toilet paper was jacked up. That's why it looks
- 49:58so shredded, because it's like when you get a b piece of tape and
- 50:00you pull and it splits down the middle or down the edge, and then
- 50:06you have to keep going until it yeah, kind of grows back out,
- 50:08yeah and becomes a whole piece. This didn't do that. It just stayed
- 50:13on that line of like a third of the paper and tear perpendicular. You
- 50:16find a nice perforation and you just try and tear that down, and then
- 50:21you get your giant layer of toilet paper that you now have, and then
- 50:24you finished business. By the way, do you have a bidet? I
- 50:30do not get a bidet. You still have to use toilet paper, yeah,
- 50:36but you have to use a lot less, So those rolls that you
- 50:38have will last you a lot longer, and you'll have to have less time
- 50:43spent frustratingly ham fisting twelve layers of toilet paper off of a fresh roll.
- 50:49I'm a tear on this. She knows what she's doing. What was going
- 50:52on that you were in such a rush. There was no rush. I
- 50:59was just there was only one roll of toilet paper that I could use,
- 51:04and it was a poorly functioning roll of toilet paper. So it's not that
- 51:07I was in a hurry, but I mean it didn't work, and I
- 51:10don't like when things don't work the way they're supposed to. So you just
- 51:13gorilla fisted the toilet paper and go turn nude poopoo cleaning twelve layers deep and
- 51:20tear into it like it's some sort of stinking. I don't know, bag
- 51:25of chips or something. I would just like to make a simple request.
- 51:29Can we please stop using the fisting references in reference to my bathroom usage.
- 51:36I'm feeling very uncomfortable. My wife already attacked me during a social media post.
- 51:39Off could the answer BC? I don't want to have to deal with
- 51:43the deal with it in the treehouse as well. It would just fist.
- 51:46It was gorilla fist. Yeah, that is the big fist. Yeah.
- 51:52So you're sitting on the toilet, you got a poop dangling, and you're
- 51:54trying to shake it off, and you decide to pick up the single lonely
- 51:59roller toilet paper, and you're gonna Bruce Banner hulk fist it. You're gonna
- 52:05grab the three fist references. Now, that's so, that's that's hulk fist,
- 52:09gorilla fist, and ham can you toilet paper? Now? Is that
- 52:20where Tara's supposed to open the door and say, the sun's starting to get
- 52:22real low? Come on, big guy, let's let's calm down. I
- 52:31think the biggest takeaway in all this is that Tara is right again. I'm
- 52:37not arguing that I just don't like it. M so it seems like,
